Okay, let it. 00:03:51.63\00:03:53.63 Akhila Macha is a seventh grade student at the school. 00:03:53.66\00:03:56.77 She comes from a small tribal community 00:03:56.80\00:03:58.97 not far from the school in Bobbili. 00:03:59.00\00:04:01.20 Akhila is the second girl child in the family 00:04:01.24\00:04:03.97 and was born blind. 00:04:04.01\00:04:05.41 When Akhila was born blind, her father wouldn't accept her 00:04:19.95\00:04:23.39 and wanted to abandon and leave her at the hospital. 00:04:23.43\00:04:27.13 In a patriarchal society, 00:04:27.16\00:04:28.80 where a girl child is often considered a burden, 00:04:28.83\00:04:31.83 Akhila's father did not want another girl child, 00:04:31.87\00:04:35.20 that too a girl child with visual impairment. 00:04:35.24\00:04:39.57 You know, there are people who are poor, 00:04:39.61\00:04:42.78 who are really struggling to bring up, 00:04:42.81\00:04:44.61 to look after their family and bring up their kids, 00:04:44.65\00:04:46.98 and then what happens if you're a girl in the family, 00:04:47.02\00:04:49.62 you know, where do you sit in the hierarchy, 00:04:49.65\00:04:51.82 how are you accepted in society. 00:04:51.85\00:04:54.46 But the boy is given education above the girl, 00:04:54.49\00:04:56.42 so straightaway the girls 00:04:56.46\00:04:57.99 really have an extra challenge here. 00:04:58.03\00:05:00.20 And imagine if that girl has a disability, 00:05:00.23\00:05:02.50 where does that person sit? 00:05:02.53\00:05:04.83 So the need to provide special support 00:05:04.87\00:05:09.50 for all children but especially for girls 00:05:09.54\00:05:11.81 who have disabilities 00:05:11.84\00:05:13.17 is an amazing opportunity to help them, 00:05:13.21\00:05:17.25 because there is very little that can be done. 00:05:17.28\00:05:19.31 And if they are in their family environment 00:05:19.35\00:05:22.55 they can't really contribute, 00:05:22.58\00:05:23.92 they can't work and contribute to their family, 00:05:23.95\00:05:25.72 so they are real burden to their family. 00:05:25.75\00:05:27.72 So we can transform not just the child, 00:05:27.76\00:05:31.19 but the family as well by creating a whole new world 00:05:31.23\00:05:34.30 for this child and for the family. 00:05:34.33\00:05:36.43 Cultural issues are hard to understand. 00:05:40.30\00:05:42.94 It may even seem bizarre and cruel at times. 00:05:42.97\00:05:45.97 It's difficult to change people's perceptions 00:05:46.01\00:05:48.38 that are rooted deep. 00:05:48.41\00:05:49.94 While rural traditions and socioeconomic difficulties 00:05:49.98\00:05:53.08 dictate life in rural India, their children pay the price. 00:05:53.11\00:05:56.92 In rural villages where being handicapped 00:05:56.95\00:05:59.55 is considered a curse, 00:05:59.59\00:06:01.19 blind children face an uncertain future. 00:06:01.22\00:06:03.43 For blind children like Akhila, 00:06:06.96\00:06:08.86 the school for the blind in Bobbili 00:06:08.90\00:06:10.70 is a place of refuge. 00:06:10.73\00:06:12.20 Every year we go for campaign to find visual impact children. 00:06:24.25\00:06:30.19 That's how we found Akhila in our village, and we saw her, 00:06:30.22\00:06:33.86 and she was so in depleted condition. 00:06:33.89\00:06:36.79 And we talked to their parents. 00:06:36.83\00:06:40.03 Mother was not convinced 00:06:40.06\00:06:42.86 to send her to hostel or to our school 00:06:42.90\00:06:45.50 because she was afraid something would happen, 00:06:45.53\00:06:48.47 or something would do for the child. 00:06:48.50\00:06:50.81 So she was not convinced for one year. 00:06:50.84\00:06:54.58 Again we went for next year 00:06:54.61\00:06:58.75 and she sent some people to check how the school is 00:06:58.78\00:07:03.59 and what are the activities going on. 00:07:03.62\00:07:05.65 And then later on, she was fully convinced 00:07:05.69\00:07:09.26 and she felt happy that this is a place 00:07:09.29\00:07:10.96 where Akhila should go and study. 00:07:10.99\00:07:13.43 So that's how we picked her up from there to our school. 00:07:13.46\00:07:17.83 For all its traditions and practices, 00:07:17.87\00:07:20.14 the fact remains 00:07:20.17\00:07:21.50 that all parents love their children 00:07:21.54\00:07:23.10 and want the best for them. 00:07:23.14\00:07:25.31 For someone like Akhila who comes from a tribal area, 00:07:25.34\00:07:29.04 the change for Akhila and her parents is huge. 00:07:29.08\00:07:34.75 Akhila would not have had any chance of education 00:07:34.78\00:07:38.39 without the blind school that she goes to. 00:07:38.42\00:07:41.26 Her parents were very cautious in letting her go. 00:07:41.29\00:07:45.19 But when they know 00:07:45.23\00:07:46.56 that she is getting an education, 00:07:46.59\00:07:48.53 they moved from cautious and scared not knowing 00:07:48.56\00:07:52.07 what to do with a blind child to having hope to being proud. 00:07:52.10\00:07:56.57 And so, Akhila is an example of the change 00:07:56.60\00:07:59.74 that is made by taking a child from a community 00:07:59.77\00:08:03.35 where there is no hope for them, 00:08:03.38\00:08:05.35 and giving them an education and giving them hope. 00:08:05.38\00:08:08.45 Child Impact sponsors the majority of children 00:08:13.86\00:08:16.73 living and studying at the school. 00:08:16.76\00:08:18.66 Without sponsorship, these children would not have 00:08:18.69\00:08:21.16 the opportunity for a new chance in life. 00:08:21.20\00:08:24.27 The school for the blind is not just an institution 00:08:24.30\00:08:27.00 that provides food and shelter for the blind, 00:08:27.04\00:08:29.14 but it's an institution that prepares them 00:08:29.17\00:08:31.24 for the world outside. 00:08:31.27\00:08:33.94 We are not preparing them 00:08:33.98\00:08:35.94 only for a place to live, and eat, and grow up. 00:08:35.98\00:08:41.22 We're preparing them 00:08:41.25\00:08:42.82 for the opportunity to prepare for a career 00:08:42.85\00:08:47.09 where they can be self-sustaining adults 00:08:47.12\00:08:50.33 throughout their life. 00:08:50.36\00:08:51.69 It's not just a temporary fix and then we kick them out. 00:08:51.73\00:08:56.67 Are they good to survive on their own, 00:08:56.70\00:08:58.97 they then can leave the school and go out and fill a need 00:08:59.00\00:09:02.87 that the government will assist them with, provide them for, 00:09:02.90\00:09:06.17 where they become productive in society on their own. 00:09:06.21\00:09:10.78 The exciting thing in India is that the government 00:09:10.81\00:09:13.42 has made jobs available for these children. 00:09:13.45\00:09:16.38 So we're equipping them 00:09:16.42\00:09:18.22 for roles that they can step into. 00:09:18.25\00:09:20.66 We're giving them, probably their only chance 00:09:20.69\00:09:23.22 of any training in this particular, 00:09:23.26\00:09:25.99 very rural, very tribal, very poor community. 00:09:26.03\00:09:29.80 So we're not only giving them education, 00:09:29.83\00:09:32.47 we're giving them a critical stepping stone 00:09:32.50\00:09:35.04 for the roles that are available for them 00:09:35.07\00:09:37.81 in the community. 00:09:37.84\00:09:39.17 These children may not have the ability to see, 00:09:52.02\00:09:54.79 but this disability does not deprive them 00:09:54.82\00:09:56.86 of the ability to learn. 00:09:56.89\00:09:58.79 They are perfectly capable of acquiring skills 00:09:58.83\00:10:01.43 needed for employment. 00:10:01.46\00:10:03.03 In fact, the Indian government refers to them 00:10:03.06\00:10:05.67 not as disabled but differently abled. 00:10:05.70\00:10:08.27 And the school for the blind provides them an ideal place 00:10:08.30\00:10:11.54 for these differently abled children to acquire skills. 00:10:11.57\00:10:14.88 For Akhila's parents who are daily laborers, 00:10:14.91\00:10:17.55 knowing their blind child is attending school 00:10:17.58\00:10:19.81 is a satisfying feeling. 00:10:19.85\00:10:21.55 Without sponsorship, 00:10:47.78\00:10:49.21 Akhila would not be at the school. 00:10:49.24\00:10:51.95 Today, because of Child Impact sponsorship program 00:10:51.98\00:10:55.22 and individual supporting its program, 00:10:55.25\00:10:57.52 hundreds of differently abled students 00:10:57.55\00:10:59.52 like Akhila can receive an education, 00:10:59.55\00:11:02.06 an education that will help them to lead a dignified life. 00:11:02.09\00:11:06.49 If people like, children like Akhila, 00:11:06.53\00:11:10.23 if they don't come to our school, 00:11:10.27\00:11:12.27 they would have stayed at the home, 00:11:12.30\00:11:14.47 their condition become worst, 00:11:14.50\00:11:16.24 and people don't really love her 00:11:16.27\00:11:18.97 or they won't take her in the family. 00:11:19.01\00:11:22.01 So it is must for us to go forward 00:11:22.04\00:11:26.48 and find children and sponsorship for them 00:11:26.51\00:11:30.72 especially is very much mean to them, 00:11:30.75\00:11:34.42 because people like Akhila who are visually impaired 00:11:34.46\00:11:39.56 needs to have this kind of education 00:11:39.59\00:11:41.96 in this part of Andhra Pradesh. 00:11:42.00\00:11:46.50 The child is the center of Child Impact's work, 00:11:46.53\00:11:49.74 whether one is able to contribute in a small way 00:11:49.77\00:11:52.24 or in a big way, 00:11:52.27\00:11:53.61 sponsorship endows these children's future, 00:11:53.64\00:11:56.04 giving them the life they deserve. 00:11:56.08\00:11:58.41 Child Impact work 00:11:58.45\00:11:59.88 with these special needs children, 00:11:59.91\00:12:01.52 also has a much bigger impact in the community. 00:12:01.55\00:12:05.12 Our special schools have a special impact, 00:12:05.15\00:12:07.99 and the reality is that many people 00:12:08.02\00:12:10.49 at all levels of society are becoming now at work 00:12:10.53\00:12:14.23 through these special homes and schools. 00:12:14.26\00:12:17.03 So they are impacting the child, the family, 00:12:17.07\00:12:19.83 and the community with what Christianity 00:12:19.87\00:12:22.97 and Seventh-day Adventist are all about. 00:12:23.00\00:12:26.24 Special needs ministries is an area in which 00:12:26.27\00:12:30.28 we are very, very interested and very proactively working, 00:12:30.31\00:12:34.22 helping the world feel to understand that 00:12:34.25\00:12:36.45 there are many people in various areas 00:12:36.48\00:12:39.42 and sectors of the population that have not been touched. 00:12:39.45\00:12:43.02 Special needs ministries 00:12:43.06\00:12:44.89 and Child Impact is also extremely helpful 00:12:44.93\00:12:48.33 to God's church, 00:12:48.36\00:12:49.70 because those who are physically impaired, 00:12:49.73\00:12:54.44 those who are visually impaired, 00:12:54.47\00:12:56.60 or perhaps hearing impaired, they are the individuals 00:12:56.64\00:13:00.58 that are being wonderfully serviced 00:13:00.61\00:13:03.04 through Child Impact in India, in other places, 00:13:03.08\00:13:07.55 six different countries that Child Impact is active in. 00:13:07.58\00:13:12.22 You know, the Lord really wants us to attract, 00:13:12.25\00:13:15.62 and be friendly to, 00:13:15.66\00:13:17.89 and help those who are the least of these, 00:13:17.93\00:13:21.70 and they in turn 00:13:21.73\00:13:23.40 will then become great missionaries for the Lord 00:13:23.43\00:13:26.23 within their sector and people group. 00:13:26.27\00:13:28.90 Thanks to the generous support 00:13:38.51\00:13:40.05 of Child Impact and its sponsors, 00:13:40.08\00:13:42.35 blind children like Akhila not only have a place 00:13:42.38\00:13:45.25 where they can acquire life skills 00:13:45.29\00:13:46.86 for the world outside, 00:13:46.89\00:13:48.49 but they have a place where they can prepare 00:13:48.52\00:13:50.13 their souls for the world to come. 00:13:50.16\00:13:51.79 A couple of years ago my daughters 00:13:57.60\00:13:59.40 and I had a wonderful opportunity to travel to India. 00:13:59.43\00:14:02.77 And while we were there, 00:14:02.80\00:14:04.17 we met yet another part of our family 00:14:04.21\00:14:06.54 and that's our sponsored daughter Sheila. 00:14:06.57\00:14:09.11 We've had the privilege of sponsoring Sheila 00:14:09.14\00:14:11.68 through Child Impact International 00:14:11.71\00:14:14.08 for more than three years now. 00:14:14.12\00:14:16.28 And, you know, while we were there, 00:14:16.32\00:14:18.22 she shared with us that her dream 00:14:18.25\00:14:20.72 was to become a nurse. 00:14:20.76\00:14:22.66 Now, what a wonderful privilege it is for us now as a family 00:14:22.69\00:14:27.16 to know that she is fulfilling that dream. 00:14:27.20\00:14:30.60 Sheila is now studying to be a nurse. 00:14:30.63\00:14:33.10 She's in college, and we could not be happier for her. 00:14:33.13\00:14:36.91 It's been wonderful to be part of that journey with her. 00:14:36.94\00:14:40.34 And, you know, sponsoring a child 00:14:40.38\00:14:42.24 through Child Impact, 00:14:42.28\00:14:43.81 it's made an incredible difference for our family. 00:14:43.85\00:14:46.92 And I know that for you sponsoring a child 00:14:46.95\00:14:48.98 can make a difference for you too. 00:14:49.02\00:14:51.05 And most importantly, it can make the difference 00:14:51.09\00:14:53.42 in the life of a child every day. 00:14:53.46\00:14:55.76 Hi, I am Jaime Jorge, 00:15:06.10\00:15:08.07 and I want to tell you, I am honored to be 00:15:08.10\00:15:10.51 a Child Impact International ambassador. 00:15:10.54\00:15:13.61 I've had the opportunity to travel to India and Myanmar, 00:15:13.64\00:15:17.38 and I've met hundreds of young people 00:15:17.41\00:15:19.95 that are being sponsored by wonderful folks here 00:15:19.98\00:15:23.69 and in other parts of the world that are making it possible 00:15:23.72\00:15:26.99 for these young people to have an education, a future, 00:15:27.02\00:15:30.69 salvation and hope in Jesus Christ. 00:15:30.73\00:15:34.50 So I'd like to invite you to consider 00:15:34.53\00:15:36.97 becoming a sponsor for Child Impact, 00:15:37.00\00:15:39.90 and changing the life of one of these young people. 00:15:39.93\00:15:43.04 Wonderful, so wonderful 00:16:00.66\00:16:04.93 Is Your unfailing love 00:16:04.96\00:16:09.40 Your cross has spoken mercy over me 00:16:09.43\00:16:11.93 In mission fields like Myanmar, 00:16:11.97\00:16:14.20 our Adventist schools are a wonderful place 00:16:14.24\00:16:16.54 for us to introduce Jesus 00:16:16.57\00:16:18.01 to the children at a very early age. 00:16:18.04\00:16:20.11 But a good Christian education is not easy to get, 00:16:20.14\00:16:22.88 particularly, in rural areas 00:16:22.91\00:16:24.68 where obtaining a good education 00:16:24.71\00:16:26.45 is not within reach 00:16:26.48\00:16:27.82 of a majority of Adventist families. 00:16:27.85\00:16:30.75 Poverty is a vicious cycle 00:16:30.79\00:16:32.62 and in Myanmar, it is very visible. 00:16:32.65\00:16:34.69 The great thing 00:16:34.72\00:16:36.06 about education is that it breaks 00:16:36.09\00:16:37.43 that cycle of poverty. 00:16:37.46\00:16:39.13 This is why sponsorship, in a country like Myanmar 00:16:39.16\00:16:41.60 is very significant for not only the child, 00:16:41.63\00:16:44.70 but also for their families. 00:16:44.73\00:16:46.17 Well, I'm right here in a village that's very close 00:16:50.34\00:16:52.94 to the seminary and college that we've been visiting. 00:16:52.97\00:16:56.91 And I guess it's here that we see the reality 00:16:56.95\00:16:59.41 of where these families come from, 00:16:59.45\00:17:01.45 where the students come from, 00:17:01.48\00:17:03.59 and I guess it really emphasizes 00:17:03.62\00:17:06.22 the difference 00:17:06.25\00:17:07.72 that sponsorship is making in the lives 00:17:07.76\00:17:09.79 of these students, these children. 00:17:09.82\00:17:12.83 They simply wouldn't have had a chance. 00:17:12.86\00:17:15.03 And as you can see, even now, 00:17:15.06\00:17:16.67 there's children here that aren't at school. 00:17:16.70\00:17:20.27 It's very touching to visit these places, 00:17:20.30\00:17:23.14 and yet their parents are so proud and so thankful 00:17:23.17\00:17:26.41 that their students are able to get an education 00:17:26.44\00:17:29.18 through your giving 00:17:29.21\00:17:30.91 and your support of these special children. 00:17:30.95\00:17:36.05 There are many young people 00:17:36.08\00:17:39.29 that just do not have the opportunity, 00:17:39.32\00:17:41.72 but they have a lot of potential 00:17:41.76\00:17:43.66 to be discovered and developed. 00:17:43.69\00:17:47.20 For me, that without somebody helping me, 00:17:47.23\00:17:50.10 like my aunt provided me opportunity to study, 00:17:50.13\00:17:53.50 I will not be having this opportunity 00:17:53.54\00:17:55.37 serving the church. 00:17:55.40\00:17:57.07 Likewise, there are many young people 00:17:57.11\00:17:58.87 that they has the potential. 00:17:58.91\00:18:00.48 And then I'm so thankful to God, 00:18:00.51\00:18:02.54 and to each of our leaders, 00:18:02.58\00:18:04.81 and the donor of the Child Impact. 00:18:04.85\00:18:07.32 And I'm really thankful to God for what we are doing, 00:18:07.35\00:18:11.49 the passion and the mission 00:18:11.52\00:18:13.15 that you have for this young people, 00:18:13.19\00:18:15.22 and then the reward that you will be getting 00:18:15.26\00:18:18.23 that is in the heaven. 00:18:18.26\00:18:19.59 You will never realize 00:18:19.63\00:18:21.50 the support that you have given, 00:18:21.53\00:18:23.63 opportunity that you have given to the young people 00:18:23.67\00:18:27.10 that will really contribute to the work of the church, 00:18:27.14\00:18:30.31 in the community life 00:18:30.34\00:18:32.21 and in the country like in Myanmar and in Bangladesh. 00:18:32.24\00:18:35.21 Sponsoring a child not only has short-term effects 00:18:35.24\00:18:40.18 but it has a long-term effect. 00:18:40.22\00:18:43.05 Sponsoring a child is investing 00:18:43.08\00:18:45.39 in the character of a young person for eternity. 00:18:45.42\00:18:49.39 We're taping this right here in Myanmar, 00:18:49.42\00:18:52.59 at the Myanmar Union Adventist Seminary, 00:18:52.63\00:18:56.03 and about one-third of the students 00:18:56.06\00:18:58.83 or one quarter of the students are being sponsored 00:18:58.87\00:19:01.90 by Child Impact. 00:19:01.94\00:19:03.91 People who become workers in God's church, 00:19:03.94\00:19:07.61 people who make an impact in the community 00:19:07.64\00:19:10.65 have been people who have been sponsored. 00:19:10.68\00:19:13.62 Your sponsorship is absolutely an investment 00:19:13.65\00:19:17.69 in the future of the church. 00:19:17.72\00:19:19.95 Mu Hsan Hgee or Mumu, as she likes to be called, 00:19:43.41\00:19:46.35 is a final year business student at MUAS. 00:19:46.38\00:19:49.88 Her mother passed away 00:19:49.92\00:19:51.25 when she and her siblings were very young. 00:19:51.29\00:19:53.52 Her father remarried but found it hard 00:19:53.56\00:19:55.49 to care for the children. 00:19:55.52\00:19:56.99 He came to know about the Adventist school, 00:19:57.03\00:19:59.16 which is right across the street from the college, 00:19:59.19\00:20:01.26 through a church pastor. 00:20:01.30\00:20:02.73 Mumu and all her younger siblings 00:20:02.76\00:20:04.63 are now sponsored by Child Impact. 00:20:04.67\00:20:08.04 Well, just before the break I told you that 00:20:08.07\00:20:10.31 we would be sharing the stories 00:20:10.34\00:20:12.01 of two young ladies here in Myanmar. 00:20:12.04\00:20:14.98 And I'm just so excited today to be with Mumu, 00:20:15.01\00:20:18.35 and she is doing business studies 00:20:18.38\00:20:21.48 here at the seminary and she's in her last year. 00:20:21.52\00:20:26.86 And she comes from a very tough family situation 00:20:26.89\00:20:31.73 where she has five siblings. 00:20:31.76\00:20:34.56 Sadly, her mother passed away and her father has remarried. 00:20:34.60\00:20:39.53 And she is just so excited that she has been able 00:20:39.57\00:20:44.01 to be a Child Impact sponsored child. 00:20:44.04\00:20:47.04 And her dream is that she will, 00:20:47.08\00:20:50.11 when she completes her studies this year, 00:20:50.15\00:20:52.58 get some work experience in a business 00:20:52.61\00:20:55.62 or a NGO and then she wants to start her own business. 00:20:55.65\00:21:00.79 She really feels 00:21:00.82\00:21:02.29 that she can have her own business. 00:21:02.32\00:21:05.09 So once she has completed the course 00:21:05.13\00:21:07.40 and then once she has had some work experience, 00:21:07.43\00:21:11.10 she wants to start her own business. 00:21:11.13\00:21:13.60 Now she's told me that she likes cooking 00:21:13.64\00:21:17.01 and playing the piano, 00:21:17.04\00:21:18.77 so maybe she'll end up in a cooking business 00:21:18.81\00:21:21.01 or a food business, I don't know. 00:21:21.04\00:21:23.65 But this is just one of the ways 00:21:23.68\00:21:26.41 that sponsorship is having an impact. 00:21:26.45\00:21:29.15 And here it is, this is not teaching, 00:21:29.18\00:21:31.72 this is not ministry, 00:21:31.75\00:21:33.29 this is in the business studies area 00:21:33.32\00:21:35.69 and it's just so exciting to see a young lady 00:21:35.72\00:21:38.93 that has taken up this direction with her career. 00:21:38.96\00:21:42.23 And, Mumu, we really wish you well 00:21:42.26\00:21:44.93 in your business studies 00:21:44.97\00:21:46.70 and we wish you well in finding a job 00:21:46.74\00:21:50.37 but then we know that you, 00:21:50.41\00:21:51.91 one day, will be a very successful business lady 00:21:51.94\00:21:55.74 with your own business. 00:21:55.78\00:21:57.38 And it just shows you the different directions 00:21:57.41\00:22:00.42 that sponsorship can lead to, and we're so proud of Mumu 00:22:00.45\00:22:04.82 and what she has achieved so far. 00:22:04.85\00:22:10.09 Mumu shares her room with many other Child Impact 00:22:10.13\00:22:12.79 sponsored girls, like her friend Papa. 00:22:12.83\00:22:15.46 Like the boy's dorm, the girl's dorm is filled to capacity. 00:22:15.50\00:22:18.93 Visiting the girl's dorm, it is very evident 00:22:18.97\00:22:21.27 the boarding facilities lack 00:22:21.30\00:22:22.70 the conducive living environment. 00:22:22.74\00:22:24.57 But students like Papa consider living 00:22:24.61\00:22:26.57 and studying here a privilege and want to make the best 00:22:26.61\00:22:29.34 out of this given privilege. 00:22:29.38\00:22:30.85 Papa, your sponsors are really happy. 00:22:37.49\00:22:41.76 Well, I'm here in the library 00:22:41.79\00:22:43.12 at Myanmar Adventist Union Seminary 00:22:43.16\00:22:46.26 and I'm really excited to be with Papa today. 00:22:46.29\00:22:49.53 Papa is in her final year of education studies 00:22:49.56\00:22:53.57 to become a teacher. 00:22:53.60\00:22:55.10 And Papa has been a Child Impact sponsored 00:22:55.14\00:22:58.54 all the way through her education up 00:22:58.57\00:23:02.38 until where she is now. 00:23:02.41\00:23:04.35 Now Papa comes from Central Myanmar 00:23:04.38\00:23:07.88 which is obviously north of here 00:23:07.92\00:23:10.05 and comes from a very poor, large family and, 00:23:10.09\00:23:13.36 in fact, she has 11 siblings. 00:23:13.39\00:23:15.96 Now sadly, her father passed away 00:23:15.99\00:23:18.69 and now her mother struggles to bring this family up. 00:23:18.73\00:23:22.26 But the exciting thing is that sponsorship 00:23:22.30\00:23:25.43 has given Papa and her family 00:23:25.47\00:23:28.27 an opportunity for her to have a career. 00:23:28.30\00:23:31.81 Papa, tell me about what you would like to do 00:23:31.84\00:23:35.04 when you leave this seminary? 00:23:35.08\00:23:38.75 After I finish, I want to be a teacher 00:23:38.78\00:23:41.82 at Mountain View Academy. 00:23:41.85\00:23:43.59 Right, so Papa wants to be a teacher 00:23:43.62\00:23:47.26 at the Mountain View Academy, 00:23:47.29\00:23:49.46 which is a key school for the church 00:23:49.49\00:23:51.86 located in the Central Myanmar near where she comes from. 00:23:51.89\00:23:56.43 And this is going to make a big difference in her life 00:23:56.46\00:24:00.40 and in the lives of other children. 00:24:00.44\00:24:02.94 And I just want to say to you sponsors 00:24:02.97\00:24:05.01 that if you look Papa in the face, 00:24:05.04\00:24:07.71 if you can see the difference in her life, 00:24:07.74\00:24:10.15 her family are a Buddhist family 00:24:10.18\00:24:12.18 and she has been introduced to Jesus 00:24:12.21\00:24:14.72 and she has accepted Jesus as her savior. 00:24:14.75\00:24:19.19 And also, you can see the inspiration 00:24:19.22\00:24:23.32 that this family has, 00:24:23.36\00:24:24.89 the inspiration that she has to be a teacher 00:24:24.93\00:24:28.23 and make a difference in the lives of children. 00:24:28.26\00:24:31.27 And this is what sponsorship is about, 00:24:31.30\00:24:33.54 it's giving the families hope, but it's inspiring her 00:24:33.57\00:24:37.17 to be a teacher and to impact in the lives of other children. 00:24:37.21\00:24:42.11 Talking to the children at the college, 00:24:45.18\00:24:46.88 Jim learned the role Child Impact 00:24:46.92\00:24:49.35 and more importantly, 00:24:49.38\00:24:50.72 individual sponsors are playing in the lives of these students 00:24:50.75\00:24:53.82 that come from such impoverished backgrounds. 00:24:53.86\00:24:57.69 Child Impact is having a very strong impact 00:24:57.73\00:25:02.03 on many of the students. 00:25:02.06\00:25:03.73 It's an amazing opportunity in these mission schools 00:25:03.77\00:25:08.14 to touch the lives of young people, 00:25:08.17\00:25:11.07 not just for their professional lives 00:25:11.11\00:25:13.88 in the future but eternally. 00:25:13.91\00:25:17.11 Child Impact is an organization that wants to make 00:25:17.15\00:25:20.05 a significant contribution in the lives of needy children. 00:25:20.08\00:25:24.12 Today, Child Impact is making it possible to give them 00:25:24.15\00:25:27.42 that opportunity to not just receive an education 00:25:27.46\00:25:30.76 but, as Pastor Wilson said, 00:25:30.79\00:25:32.89 an opportunity for eternal life. 00:25:32.93\00:25:36.53 Well, as you've seen in meeting these three young students, 00:25:36.56\00:25:39.70 you've actually got to see the impact 00:25:39.73\00:25:42.04 that you are having on their lives. 00:25:42.07\00:25:44.11 They come from very difficult family backgrounds 00:25:44.14\00:25:46.88 and you have given them the opportunity for education. 00:25:46.91\00:25:50.35 And you can also see the impact that will have on their future. 00:25:50.38\00:25:54.65 I just want to thank you for the difference 00:25:54.68\00:25:56.48 that you have made. 00:25:56.52\00:25:58.15
