place 00:00:09.58\00:00:11.48 to go from such a cramped environment 00:00:11.51\00:00:14.22 to such an expansive free environment. 00:00:14.25\00:00:19.02 We meet brothers Rajesh and Durga prasad, many children 00:00:26.73\00:00:29.75 who is having very bad family backgrounds. 00:00:29.78\00:00:32.90 Sunrise home is giving them good directions in their lives. 00:00:32.93\00:00:37.83 And we learned how Asian Aid, is helping prepare 00:00:37.86\00:00:40.77 the next generation of faithful workers for the church. 00:00:40.80\00:00:43.92 I'm proud of this important organization, has invested 00:01:33.12\00:01:36.28 in the futures of people and their investment 00:01:36.31\00:01:38.79 has proven infinite returns. 00:01:38.82\00:01:41.98 Driven by their dedication 00:01:42.01\00:01:43.53 to helping those who have the least. 00:01:43.56\00:01:46.16 Asian Aid is an organization 00:01:46.19\00:01:47.82 focused on the welfare of children, 00:01:47.85\00:01:50.42 implementing diverse development projects 00:01:50.45\00:01:53.13 and sponsoring thousands of children. 00:01:53.16\00:01:55.84 Their outreach spans from child rescue operations 00:01:55.87\00:01:59.26 to providing an education for orphans, 00:01:59.29\00:02:01.70 deaf and the blind children. 00:02:01.73\00:02:04.32 Giving them a sense of place, a home 00:02:04.35\00:02:07.16 but above all Asian Aid is an organization giving hope, 00:02:07.19\00:02:11.68 giving hope to children, giving hope to communities, 00:02:11.71\00:02:15.33 giving hope to the ones who needed the most. 00:02:15.36\00:02:19.03 This is Hope in Motion. 00:02:19.06\00:02:22.13 Bobbili, a small principality 00:02:47.55\00:02:49.85 near the coastal city of Vizag in India, 00:02:49.88\00:02:52.68 has nothing to offer to a visitor, 00:02:52.71\00:02:54.62 its streets often bustling and chaotic 00:02:54.65\00:02:57.13 are typical of rural towns in India. 00:02:57.16\00:03:02.40 Poverty is widespread 00:03:02.43\00:03:04.03 and people struggle to meet ends, 00:03:04.06\00:03:05.98 doing menial jobs and often tending 00:03:06.01\00:03:08.20 to paddy fields owned by landlords. 00:03:08.23\00:03:11.33 Visits to villages around here only amplify one's perception 00:03:11.36\00:03:14.81 of abstract poverty people living on a daily basis. 00:03:14.84\00:03:19.37 But it isn't just the despairing 00:03:19.40\00:03:21.27 and gloomy environment, we often get to see 00:03:21.30\00:03:23.89 and experience hopefulness and optimism. 00:03:23.92\00:03:26.56 The Seventh-day Adventist church through its schools 00:03:30.59\00:03:33.73 and supporting ministries has brought the love of Christ 00:03:33.76\00:03:36.66 and the promise of eternity to people in 00:03:36.69\00:03:38.79 and around Bobbili area. 00:03:38.82\00:03:40.52 The supporting ministries of the church 00:03:40.55\00:03:42.21 have hasten the mission of the church 00:03:42.24\00:03:44.20 in bringing hope to this receptive community. 00:03:44.23\00:03:48.24 Asian Aid is in the forefront 00:03:48.27\00:03:49.76 of this mission here in Bobbili. 00:03:49.79\00:03:51.93 Over the last 10 years, 00:03:51.96\00:03:53.67 it has undertaken numerous developmental work 00:03:53.70\00:03:55.94 in the community, 00:03:55.97\00:03:57.04 supported schools through its sponsorship programs 00:03:57.07\00:03:59.80 and builds schools for special needs children 00:03:59.83\00:04:01.88 like Asian Aid's school for the blind. 00:04:01.91\00:04:05.90 One of its recent projects is the constructions 00:04:05.93\00:04:08.11 of a brand new orphanage in Karada village, 00:04:08.14\00:04:10.82 the Sunrise Children's Home. 00:04:10.85\00:04:13.10 Established in 2001 00:04:21.46\00:04:23.22 with just a handful of orphan children 00:04:23.25\00:04:25.63 and a small building in Bobbili town, 00:04:25.66\00:04:27.94 the number grew 00:04:27.97\00:04:29.21 and the children soon had to cope 00:04:29.24\00:04:31.02 with the constraints of living in a crowded place. 00:04:31.05\00:04:34.24 When I started with Asian Aid on my first trip to India, 00:04:34.27\00:04:38.96 I visited the Sunrise orphanage and I've been told 00:04:38.99\00:04:42.87 that there were plans to build a new orphanage 00:04:42.90\00:04:46.14 and Asian Aid had actually purchased some land 00:04:46.17\00:04:50.92 and then I visited the orphanage, 00:04:50.95\00:04:54.18 there were two parts to it. 00:04:54.21\00:04:55.53 First of all they were sleeping 00:04:55.56\00:04:57.28 and living in atrocious conditions. 00:04:57.31\00:05:00.31 All the boys would jammed in one room 00:05:00.34\00:05:02.55 and all the girls would jammed in one room, 00:05:02.58\00:05:04.85 and they were sleeping on the floor. 00:05:04.88\00:05:06.85 Secondly they were lovely kids and I fell for them, 00:05:06.88\00:05:10.88 they had beautiful house parents 00:05:10.91\00:05:13.35 that were bringing them up, 00:05:13.38\00:05:15.04 and so because these kids were special 00:05:15.07\00:05:18.48 and because there was a true need, 00:05:18.51\00:05:21.40 Asian Aid USA and its donors see it 00:05:21.43\00:05:24.33 about building the Sunrise home. 00:05:24.36\00:05:28.36 Jim Rennie, CEO of Asian Aid USA, 00:05:28.39\00:05:31.04 equipped with the experience of his visit 00:05:31.07\00:05:33.66 and the vision for a new facility 00:05:33.69\00:05:35.39 for these children went about raising funds 00:05:35.42\00:05:38.00 for the construction of a new home for Sunrise. 00:05:38.03\00:05:40.83 With his perseverance 00:05:40.86\00:05:42.30 and the support of generous donors, 00:05:42.33\00:05:44.31 the new home began to rise from the ground up. 00:05:44.34\00:05:47.10 And the children got to come along this journey 00:05:47.13\00:05:49.21 every step of the way. 00:05:49.24\00:05:50.87 How many of you like this room? 00:05:50.90\00:05:54.90 Okay, so you want to sleep here? 00:05:54.93\00:05:56.99 Yes! 00:05:57.02\00:05:58.41 You know, it's taken time to built the new orphanage, 00:06:11.57\00:06:15.23 and the children have been brought along the journey, 00:06:15.26\00:06:17.58 so they were given an idea 00:06:17.61\00:06:19.14 that they were going to have a better home. 00:06:19.17\00:06:21.39 It's like our saying you're going to go to heaven, 00:06:21.42\00:06:23.31 and we've got a better home, 00:06:23.34\00:06:24.89 so they had this idea of having a better home. 00:06:24.92\00:06:27.77 And they've been asking questions 00:06:27.80\00:06:29.49 as this whole thing was in progress 00:06:29.52\00:06:31.74 and now they have it and they're just so excited. 00:06:31.77\00:06:34.72 It is such a wonderful place 00:06:34.75\00:06:36.63 to go from such a cramped environment 00:06:36.66\00:06:39.38 to such an expansive free environment. 00:06:39.41\00:06:45.65 The children's excitement grew each step of the way, 00:06:45.68\00:06:48.52 and they finally moved into their new home 00:06:48.55\00:06:50.60 on November 14th, 2012. 00:06:50.63\00:06:54.21 November 14th is celebrated as Children's Day in India. 00:06:54.24\00:06:57.84 It was a fitting moment for these wonderful children 00:06:57.87\00:07:00.26 and those who cared for these children. 00:07:00.29\00:07:02.64 When we see these both places, 00:07:02.67\00:07:05.88 we have lot of place here and lot of work to do. 00:07:05.91\00:07:09.69 And children they have lot of place to play there. 00:07:09.72\00:07:13.17 Lot of place to eat. 00:07:13.20\00:07:15.36 And whatever they want they got by the Asian Aid. 00:07:15.39\00:07:20.21 So this is the big, big blessing, isn't it? 00:07:20.24\00:07:21.79 Yeah, it's a great blessing, 00:07:21.82\00:07:23.86 not big blessing, but great blessing. 00:07:23.89\00:07:25.51 Praise the Lord. 00:07:25.54\00:07:26.60 Only this orphanage is having 14 acres of land. 00:07:26.63\00:07:31.70 They are also blessed to have a huge farm area, 00:07:31.73\00:07:34.26 where the children get to grow their own vegetables 00:07:34.29\00:07:36.52 and reap truckloads of corn each year. 00:07:36.55\00:07:39.40 But their biggest blessing is access 00:07:39.43\00:07:41.18 to the river flowing beside the campus, 00:07:41.21\00:07:43.54 and the children love to play in the shallow waters 00:07:43.57\00:07:45.72 at every possible chance they get. 00:07:45.75\00:07:49.02 If you asked the children in the previous orphanage, 00:07:49.05\00:07:51.51 if they had a vision of the future 00:07:51.54\00:07:53.29 they could never have dreamt of this. 00:07:53.32\00:07:55.36 But it gives the space, 00:07:55.39\00:07:57.31 it gives the place for the children, 00:07:57.34\00:07:59.98 it is really something to behold 00:08:00.01\00:08:04.23 and the work of, you know, 00:08:04.26\00:08:05.96 Varma and Lisa in bringing this whole thing across, 00:08:05.99\00:08:09.64 bringing the children, looking after the children 00:08:09.67\00:08:11.60 as if they are their own children 00:08:11.63\00:08:13.47 is something very special. 00:08:13.50\00:08:15.24 The house parents or the parents 00:08:15.27\00:08:17.41 are totally responsible for the child's life. 00:08:17.44\00:08:20.73 And at Sunrise we are very blessed 00:08:20.76\00:08:24.06 to have Lalitha and Varma, 00:08:24.09\00:08:26.91 who are 100% committed to their children. 00:08:26.94\00:08:30.76 And the children called them mummy and daddy, 00:08:30.79\00:08:33.44 if they want to go away for few days, 00:08:33.47\00:08:36.14 it's as if their parents have gone away, 00:08:36.17\00:08:38.65 the kids say where is mummy? 00:08:38.68\00:08:39.95 Where is daddy? 00:08:39.98\00:08:41.38 And so they have an amazing role 00:08:41.41\00:08:45.79 that they have to carry out 00:08:45.82\00:08:47.53 and we're just so proud of what they do. 00:08:47.56\00:08:51.01 Lalitha and Raj Varma care for these orphan children 00:08:51.04\00:08:54.28 as if they were their own, 00:08:54.31\00:08:55.53 and the children responded them beautifully. 00:08:55.56\00:08:58.13 It is not an easy task to bring up 80 odd children. 00:08:58.16\00:09:01.59 As loving and caring as they are, 00:09:01.62\00:09:03.79 Lalitha and Raj Varma have to reach out 00:09:03.82\00:09:06.01 to each individual child's needs, 00:09:06.04\00:09:08.25 as these children come from varied family backgrounds 00:09:08.28\00:09:10.96 and bring their own emotional baggage 00:09:10.99\00:09:12.88 when they come to Sunrise Home. 00:09:12.91\00:09:15.54 They're different-- I know this sound strange 00:09:15.57\00:09:17.40 but there are different types of orphans. 00:09:17.43\00:09:19.74 There are true orphans whose parents are dead. 00:09:19.77\00:09:23.41 Sometimes they don't know what's happened to them. 00:09:23.44\00:09:26.16 Sometimes the children are brought up by grandparents. 00:09:26.19\00:09:31.14 Many a times the mother may die 00:09:31.17\00:09:34.62 and the father may not be able to cope, 00:09:34.65\00:09:37.34 the father may simply desert the child. 00:09:37.37\00:09:41.91 So sometimes they're not a true orphans 00:09:41.94\00:09:44.19 but their life is orphaned. 00:09:44.22\00:09:46.64 They just don't have parents that are there, 00:09:46.67\00:09:50.92 not dysfunctional they are not there. 00:09:50.95\00:09:55.32 Prem Baskar Rao was orphaned at a very early very age 00:09:55.35\00:09:58.13 and grew up at Sunrise Home ever since he was 5 years old. 00:09:58.16\00:10:01.68 When Prem was 9 months old, 00:10:05.01\00:10:07.36 my daughter was pregnant with another child, 00:10:07.39\00:10:10.47 those days we only had home deliveries. 00:10:10.50\00:10:13.60 And my daughter died during child birth. 00:10:13.63\00:10:17.17 Prem's father had a heart condition 00:10:17.20\00:10:19.05 and in spite of being treated at various hospitals, 00:10:19.08\00:10:21.85 his condition worsened and he finally passed away 00:10:21.88\00:10:24.51 in a hospital in Vizag. 00:10:24.54\00:10:26.78 Having lost both the parents before he could learn to walk, 00:10:26.81\00:10:29.86 Prem was left under the care of his grandmother, 00:10:29.89\00:10:32.23 the only immediate family willing to care for him. 00:10:32.26\00:10:35.07 When he was small, 00:10:38.08\00:10:39.46 I used to leave him with the neighbors 00:10:39.49\00:10:41.35 and go to the fields to work. 00:10:41.38\00:10:43.94 I used to work for few hours 00:10:43.97\00:10:46.41 and then come home to care of him. 00:10:46.44\00:10:49.02 Struggling to make a living working in the fields, 00:10:54.07\00:10:56.73 his grandmother found it hard to provide for him 00:10:56.76\00:10:58.97 and the prospect of giving him a good future was unimaginable. 00:10:59.00\00:11:04.10 Fortunately for Prem, 00:11:04.13\00:11:05.83 a newspaper reporter from his village 00:11:05.86\00:11:08.00 told his grandmother about Sunrise Home, 00:11:08.03\00:11:10.41 and recommended her to take him to Bobbili. 00:11:10.44\00:11:13.66 Meeting the basic criteria of an orphan child, 00:11:13.69\00:11:16.67 he was taking in at Sunrise Children's Home. 00:11:16.70\00:11:19.54 If I didn't get a chance to send him to an orphanage, 00:11:22.33\00:11:25.82 I don't know what I would have done. 00:11:25.85\00:11:28.35 I didn't have anything to take care of him. 00:11:28.38\00:11:31.29 I would have no choice but to abandon him. 00:11:31.32\00:11:34.07 Thanks to the sponsors who supported him 00:11:41.80\00:11:43.68 all throughout his life at Sunrise, 00:11:43.71\00:11:45.67 Prem can aspire to pursuing a career 00:11:45.70\00:11:47.86 as a graphic designer. 00:11:47.89\00:11:49.38 When I was young, 00:11:49.41\00:11:50.48 I didn't know anything about my sponsorship, 00:11:50.51\00:11:53.84 and as I'm growing up 00:11:53.87\00:11:55.26 I know the value of this sponsorship, 00:11:55.29\00:11:59.68 and I'm feeling that how the sponsors are helping us 00:11:59.71\00:12:03.91 along with all my brothers and sisters. 00:12:03.94\00:12:07.20 If it is not for their support on us, 00:12:07.23\00:12:10.57 we'll not be in this good education position 00:12:10.60\00:12:13.31 or in good position. 00:12:13.34\00:12:15.61 Please tell the people who are helping my grandson 00:12:18.48\00:12:21.19 that I'm grateful, 00:12:21.22\00:12:23.06 I will always be thankful for them. 00:12:23.09\00:12:26.58 Although Prem spent all of his life growing up 00:12:26.61\00:12:28.76 at Sunrise Home, 00:12:28.79\00:12:30.15 he has not forgotten his grandmother, 00:12:30.18\00:12:32.12 who is there to give him unconditional love 00:12:32.15\00:12:34.41 after the death of his parents. 00:12:34.44\00:12:36.91 When I'm growing up there was nobody to care for, 00:12:36.94\00:12:39.22 only my grandmother was there with all her struggles 00:12:39.25\00:12:43.48 so, whenever I have free time 00:12:43.51\00:12:46.96 I used to visit her and spend some time with her. 00:12:46.99\00:12:50.92 I'm illiterate, I don't know anything about education 00:12:54.94\00:12:59.18 and I don't know anything about the world outside, 00:12:59.21\00:13:02.49 but you are good people, I give him in your hands, 00:13:02.52\00:13:06.31 please take care of him and his future. 00:13:06.34\00:13:09.20 Thanks to Asian Aid's sponsorship program, 00:13:14.00\00:13:16.36 the sponsors and donors who support this program 00:13:16.39\00:13:19.08 and the love and care he receives at Sunrise Home, 00:13:19.11\00:13:21.76 Prem can continue to pursue his higher studies, 00:13:21.79\00:13:24.24 can dream of a career of his choice 00:13:24.27\00:13:26.47 and hope for a better future, 00:13:26.50\00:13:27.95 where he can stand on his own. 00:13:27.98\00:13:29.85 The biggest blessing he has received however 00:13:29.88\00:13:32.21 is the chance to know Jesus and Prem, 00:13:32.24\00:13:34.77 like many other boys and girls who go out into the world, 00:13:34.80\00:13:37.58 can spread the love of Christ to those who don't know him. 00:13:37.61\00:13:41.97 When we come back, 00:13:42.00\00:13:43.29 we meet bothers Rajesh and Durga Prasad 00:13:43.32\00:13:45.88 who were rescued from the streets, 00:13:45.91\00:13:47.69 and see how a new facility at Sunrise Home 00:13:47.72\00:13:50.41 has become a safe haven for boys like them. 00:13:50.44\00:13:53.70 My wife Angela and I are here 00:14:07.92\00:14:09.68 in Andhra Pradesh, India, 00:14:09.71\00:14:11.28 visiting some of the Asian Aid projects to see for ourselves 00:14:11.31\00:14:14.68 how the work that is being done here 00:14:14.71\00:14:16.22 is transforming lives, 00:14:16.25\00:14:18.22 especially the lives of orphaned children 00:14:18.25\00:14:21.04 and abandoned children, 00:14:21.07\00:14:22.41 children from the tribal communities. 00:14:22.44\00:14:25.09 And we've discovered that because of sponsors like you, 00:14:25.12\00:14:27.35 they now have a place that they can call home. 00:14:27.38\00:14:29.96 They have wonderful clothing, nutritious food 00:14:29.99\00:14:32.31 and they are being prepared to propel themselves 00:14:32.34\00:14:35.77 into the future for a promising career. 00:14:35.80\00:14:38.49 But above all that because of sponsors like you 00:14:38.52\00:14:41.55 they now have hope, hope for a better future. 00:14:41.58\00:14:45.50 Well, I am here in Sunrise Home with Sheela. 00:14:59.04\00:15:01.71 Now my family and I have been sponsoring Sheela 00:15:01.74\00:15:04.22 for just about a year now and I can tell you being here 00:15:04.25\00:15:07.43 and spending time with her, I can see the difference 00:15:07.46\00:15:10.10 that sponsorship is making in her life. 00:15:10.13\00:15:12.52 She now has plenty of food, 00:15:12.55\00:15:14.11 she has a beautiful place to sleep each night, 00:15:14.14\00:15:16.43 she has clothes, 00:15:16.46\00:15:17.60 she has a school uniform and an excellent education. 00:15:17.63\00:15:21.20 I can tell you it's made a difference in her life 00:15:21.23\00:15:24.05 and it's made a difference in our lives too. 00:15:24.08\00:15:26.67 Now through sponsorship you too can make a difference 00:15:26.70\00:15:29.67 in the life of a child everyday. 00:15:29.70\00:15:32.28 Asian Aid Sunrise children's home in Bobbili, 00:15:56.14\00:15:58.52 India was established to give a home 00:15:58.55\00:16:00.74 to orphan children in this region. 00:16:00.77\00:16:02.71 And is an important outreach 00:16:02.74\00:16:04.02 for the Adventist church in India. 00:16:04.05\00:16:06.59 From its humble beginning in a cramped building in town, 00:16:06.62\00:16:09.54 the orphanage has shifted 00:16:09.57\00:16:10.80 to a spacious campus in the countryside. 00:16:10.83\00:16:13.36 Situated about 10 miles from Bobbili town, 00:16:13.39\00:16:16.16 the new campus gives the children 00:16:16.19\00:16:18.05 an ideal place to live, learn and play. 00:16:18.08\00:16:21.45 The children still attend 00:16:31.00\00:16:32.22 the Seventh-day Adventist school in town, 00:16:32.25\00:16:34.46 but Sunrise Home has its own bus 00:16:34.49\00:16:36.80 that takes them to school everyday. 00:16:36.83\00:16:38.60 And the bus ride is something the children look 00:16:38.63\00:16:40.37 forward to every morning. 00:16:40.40\00:16:42.23 August 2nd, 2014 was a special day for Asian Aid 00:16:47.59\00:16:51.35 and everyone at Sunrise Home. 00:16:51.38\00:16:53.45 A new boy's dorm was inaugurated by renowned 00:16:53.48\00:16:55.86 Adventist violinist, Jaime Jorge. 00:16:55.89\00:17:00.23 It was very emotional for me to be here 00:17:00.26\00:17:02.96 at the opening of the boy's dormitory. 00:17:02.99\00:17:05.94 It was just so great that Jaime Jorge 00:17:05.97\00:17:08.07 could be here to do the dedication, 00:17:08.10\00:17:10.66 and arguably where we could say, 00:17:10.69\00:17:12.27 it's the end of the project, but it's not. 00:17:12.30\00:17:16.15 The donors the build a great facility, 00:17:16.18\00:17:19.16 but the ongoing need for orphans in this home, 00:17:19.19\00:17:22.82 the ongoing operating needs, 00:17:22.85\00:17:25.09 the ongoing needs for sponsorship 00:17:25.12\00:17:27.88 simply means it's not over. 00:17:27.91\00:17:30.98 Although there is ongoing need for sponsorship 00:17:33.75\00:17:35.93 and other needs at Sunrise Home, 00:17:35.96\00:17:38.13 it is encouraging in knowing 00:17:38.16\00:17:39.59 that this facility has the capacity 00:17:39.62\00:17:41.53 to double the number of children in the future. 00:17:41.56\00:17:44.08 There is facility to build another story, 00:17:44.11\00:17:46.48 thereby having the capacity to facilitate 00:17:46.51\00:17:48.66 the ever increasing inflow of children 00:17:48.69\00:17:50.85 arriving at Sunrise Home each year. 00:17:50.88\00:17:53.55 In my union we have 850,000 members 00:17:53.58\00:18:00.90 and there are hundreds of needs in this union 00:18:00.93\00:18:03.47 especially there are orphan children, 00:18:03.50\00:18:05.55 there are semi orphan children 00:18:05.58\00:18:07.37 and therefore we really face challenge. 00:18:07.40\00:18:09.15 Today expanding and adding this facility to the boys' hostel 00:18:09.18\00:18:12.42 will really be a great blessing 00:18:12.45\00:18:13.93 because these children are adjusting somewhere, 00:18:13.96\00:18:15.93 and they don't have proper facilities. 00:18:15.96\00:18:17.71 They want to feel with their friends 00:18:17.74\00:18:19.86 as if it is their own home. 00:18:19.89\00:18:21.71 And this will be a unique identity 00:18:21.74\00:18:23.13 that will build confidence in them, 00:18:23.16\00:18:24.81 and they'll really develop in the proper way 00:18:24.84\00:18:26.81 in Adventist atmosphere. 00:18:26.84\00:18:29.24 12-year-old Durga Prasad 00:18:54.23\00:18:56.27 and his 11-year-old brother Rajesh 00:18:56.30\00:18:58.39 came to Sunrise Home three years ago. 00:18:58.42\00:19:00.89 They were rescued from the streets by a local NGO 00:19:00.92\00:19:04.04 Child Line after a newspaper article appeared 00:19:04.07\00:19:07.04 in a local daily with the title "Mother for sale." 00:19:07.07\00:19:10.20 Child line immediately followed up the story 00:19:10.23\00:19:12.68 with the concerned people and rescued the boys 00:19:12.71\00:19:15.31 and took them in their custody. 00:19:15.34\00:19:17.05 After we brought them here, 00:19:19.48\00:19:21.18 we came to know that their father died 00:19:21.21\00:19:23.64 and the mother found another man 00:19:23.67\00:19:25.85 and she moved in with him 00:19:25.88\00:19:27.91 but he forced her into prostitution 00:19:27.94\00:19:30.69 and forced the boys into the streets to beg 00:19:30.72\00:19:33.27 and sell newspaper and fruits. 00:19:33.30\00:19:35.84 He used that money in drinking and gambling. 00:19:35.87\00:19:39.07 Durga Prasad and Rajesh woke up every day 00:19:48.85\00:19:51.46 to the blaring of train engines 00:19:51.49\00:19:53.46 where the screeching halt of its iron wheels. 00:19:53.49\00:19:56.64 The buzz and hustle of the streets 00:19:56.67\00:19:58.34 near the train station at Vizianagaram was their domain 00:19:58.37\00:20:01.52 and the rail platform their shelter. 00:20:01.55\00:20:04.41 The boys were forced to go and beg or steal 00:20:04.44\00:20:07.18 by the mother's boyfriend, 00:20:07.21\00:20:08.59 and when they refused they were beaten. 00:20:08.62\00:20:10.87 Fearing the beatings that awaited them at home, 00:20:10.90\00:20:13.03 they spent most of their time living on the railway platform 00:20:13.06\00:20:16.22 earning some money selling fruits or begging. 00:20:16.25\00:20:19.53 After they were rescued 00:20:19.56\00:20:20.63 and taken into custody by Child Line, 00:20:20.66\00:20:22.88 Durga Prasad and Rajesh were brought to Sunrise Home. 00:20:22.91\00:20:26.41 I'm from Bobbili town and I used to live very close 00:20:29.15\00:20:32.32 to where the old Sunrise Home was, 00:20:32.35\00:20:35.39 then I informed my superiors about it 00:20:35.42\00:20:38.35 and recommended these two boys to Sunrise Home. 00:20:38.38\00:20:43.16 Sunrise Home is highly regarded 00:20:43.19\00:20:44.89 throughout the district for its work 00:20:44.92\00:20:46.61 and the shelter it provides to orphaned 00:20:46.64\00:20:48.39 and abandoned children like Durga Prasad and Rajesh. 00:20:48.42\00:20:52.37 Most of the children are coming to Sunrise Home 00:20:52.40\00:20:54.98 recommended by police department 00:20:55.01\00:20:58.57 and non governmental organizations 00:20:58.60\00:21:01.01 and the Child Line and rescued children 00:21:01.04\00:21:04.66 most of them are here, the rescued children. 00:21:04.69\00:21:08.36 In this whole of the Vizianagaram district, 00:21:08.39\00:21:10.77 only this home is best home 00:21:10.80\00:21:13.24 and the government will recommend 00:21:13.27\00:21:14.64 all the children to stay here only. 00:21:14.67\00:21:17.57 Okay, well. 00:21:17.60\00:21:20.12 At our homes like Sunrise, 00:21:20.15\00:21:21.87 we have children from varied backgrounds, 00:21:21.90\00:21:24.77 varied stories and honest 00:21:24.80\00:21:26.77 some of them are hard to comprehend. 00:21:26.80\00:21:29.01 And just like these two boys, 00:21:29.04\00:21:30.49 who were found on a railway platform 00:21:30.52\00:21:33.75 at the train station could you imagine it, 00:21:33.78\00:21:36.59 could you imagine living there, 00:21:36.62\00:21:38.46 having to scrape up an existence, 00:21:38.49\00:21:41.14 they were exploited by many people 00:21:41.17\00:21:43.71 and they had no hope. 00:21:43.74\00:21:45.86 Now at least they have come to Sunrise Home 00:21:45.89\00:21:48.84 where they have a new direction 00:21:48.87\00:21:52.41 and now they have hope of an education, 00:21:52.44\00:21:55.25 they have a hope of a future. 00:21:55.28\00:21:57.36 And the Asian Aid's sponsorship program 00:21:57.39\00:22:00.08 will have a big difference in their lives. 00:22:00.11\00:22:04.04 Durga Prasad and Rajesh are in a place 00:22:04.07\00:22:06.61 where they can leave behind 00:22:06.64\00:22:07.68 the fear of being beaten and exploited. 00:22:07.71\00:22:10.42 Leave behind the struggles of growing up in the streets 00:22:10.45\00:22:13.20 and instead are in a safe and comfortable place. 00:22:13.23\00:22:16.11 A place where they don't feel like 00:22:16.14\00:22:17.39 they are orphaned or abandoned. 00:22:17.42\00:22:19.59 So by having an orphanage we can access this children 00:22:19.62\00:22:22.34 who really won't have the basics in life 00:22:22.37\00:22:25.07 will now can have the basics in life to go forward. 00:22:25.10\00:22:28.87 So that's what orphanages do, 00:22:28.90\00:22:30.44 they get the children who really need help 00:22:30.47\00:22:33.54 and don't have anyone to help them. 00:22:33.57\00:22:37.70 Asian Aid is giving them that help. 00:22:37.73\00:22:40.28 Asian Aid is giving them that new life 00:22:40.31\00:22:42.30 through its special need schools 00:22:42.33\00:22:44.04 and an orphanage like Sunrise Home, 00:22:44.07\00:22:46.07 and is giving them an opportunity 00:22:46.10\00:22:47.46 to receive a proper education. 00:22:47.49\00:22:50.04 One of the great blessings is, 00:22:50.07\00:22:51.90 that we cannot do everything by on our own 00:22:51.93\00:22:54.37 because of certain reasons. 00:22:54.40\00:22:56.10 I thank God for special organization like Asian Aid, 00:22:56.13\00:23:00.74 they are uniquely tuned to meet exactly our needs. 00:23:00.77\00:23:05.45 Where we really need specially 00:23:05.48\00:23:07.14 we need next generation to be prepared 00:23:07.17\00:23:09.47 for the church work and the children 00:23:09.50\00:23:11.80 who are trained up in the homes 00:23:11.83\00:23:13.76 and their help, with their support 00:23:13.79\00:23:15.92 we educate our poor children. 00:23:15.95\00:23:17.81 They are the next generation faithful workers for the church 00:23:17.84\00:23:21.45 and it is really transforming, I really thank God, 00:23:21.48\00:23:24.01 every sponsor that is supporting this work. 00:23:24.04\00:23:26.52 Every leader in this organization 00:23:26.55\00:23:28.62 they are really doing with dedication, 00:23:28.65\00:23:30.18 the work with dedication and commitment. 00:23:30.21\00:23:32.38 They are reaching to us, 00:23:32.41\00:23:33.48 they openly talk their ideas and we tell our needs 00:23:33.51\00:23:36.90 and they really fit in. 00:23:36.93\00:23:38.14 I'm proud of this important organization 00:23:38.17\00:23:40.32 and they are truly beneficial to my union here 00:23:40.35\00:23:43.03 in East Central India. 00:23:43.06\00:23:45.26 It was painful for us to learn 00:23:45.29\00:23:46.60 that the boy's mother is still making her 00:23:46.63\00:23:48.08 living through prostitution 00:23:48.11\00:23:49.85 and does not know the whereabouts of her son. 00:23:49.88\00:23:52.35 Taking the children away 00:23:52.38\00:23:53.58 from the mother may sound cruel and callous 00:23:53.61\00:23:55.34 but extraordinary circumstances call 00:23:55.37\00:23:57.89 for extraordinary measures in intervention 00:23:57.92\00:24:00.29 for the welfare in future of the children. 00:24:00.32\00:24:03.18 Like Rajesh and Durga Prasad there are so many children 00:24:03.21\00:24:06.14 who is having very bad family backgrounds. 00:24:06.17\00:24:10.09 Sunrise Home is giving them good directions in their lives. 00:24:10.12\00:24:15.81 Today, Asian Aid is reaching out to children in need 00:24:15.84\00:24:19.62 and Sunrise Home is a safe haven for this children, 00:24:19.65\00:24:23.39 providing not just their basic needs 00:24:23.42\00:24:25.68 and an opportunity for an education, 00:24:25.71\00:24:27.80 but giving them parental love and affection, 00:24:27.83\00:24:31.00 providing them a chance to know Jesus, 00:24:31.03\00:24:33.18 and giving them hope for a brighter future. 00:24:33.21\00:24:36.34
