Just when I thought I had seen it all, 00:00:03.16\00:00:05.31 my world wind trip to India 00:00:05.34\00:00:06.93 opens my eyes to a whole new world of realities. 00:00:06.96\00:00:10.79 I saw children who are hopeful in spite of their condition, 00:00:10.82\00:00:14.61 met inspiring people who gave heed to God's calling. 00:00:14.64\00:00:19.26 And Jesus Christ said "Inasmuch as you have done 00:00:19.29\00:00:21.95 unto one of the least of these my brethren, 00:00:21.98\00:00:23.84 you have done it unto Me." 00:00:23.87\00:00:25.26 And witness an organization that is making a difference 00:00:25.29\00:00:27.71 in the life's of thousands of children in India. 00:00:27.74\00:00:31.06 Well, I think the big difference 00:00:31.09\00:00:32.45 we've made is that we've been able to give 00:00:32.48\00:00:35.69 so many children are chance of Christian education. 00:00:35.72\00:00:39.99 Come and join me in this extraordinary journey 00:00:40.02\00:00:42.76 to this extraordinary land. 00:00:42.79\00:00:45.06 India is a land full of contrast. 00:00:54.71\00:00:59.50 It's a land great mystery and beauty. 00:00:59.53\00:01:03.01 It's a land of unspeakable despair. 00:01:03.04\00:01:06.37 By traveling through India 00:01:06.40\00:01:07.89 one thing is for sure it's a land filled with people 00:01:07.92\00:01:11.34 who should never be under estimated. 00:01:11.37\00:01:14.86 For the last 40 years, 00:01:14.89\00:01:16.53 Asian Aid has invested in the futures of people 00:01:16.56\00:01:19.26 who have never been given such a chance 00:01:19.29\00:01:21.72 and their investment has proven infinite returns. 00:01:21.75\00:01:26.16 Driven by the vision of Helen Eager, 00:01:26.19\00:01:28.35 dedicated to helping those who have the least, 00:01:28.38\00:01:31.22 Asian Aid is an organization 00:01:31.25\00:01:32.83 implementing diverse development projects 00:01:32.86\00:01:35.22 and sponsoring thousands of children. 00:01:35.25\00:01:38.60 Their outreach spans from Bangladesh to Nepal, 00:01:38.63\00:01:41.63 Srilanka and beyond, from remote villages 00:01:41.66\00:01:45.24 and empty fields to sprawling centers of education, 00:01:45.27\00:01:49.32 from nothing to the unimaginable. 00:01:49.35\00:01:53.13 Now Asian Aid decided to document the work 00:01:53.16\00:01:56.01 it is been doing all these years with a desire 00:01:56.04\00:01:58.32 to show the world what is possible. 00:01:58.35\00:02:01.12 By digging wells in remote villages 00:02:01.15\00:02:02.95 for clean drinking water and bringing much needed 00:02:02.98\00:02:05.85 healthcare to the women of Nepal. 00:02:05.88\00:02:08.90 By providing an education for orphans, deaf 00:02:08.93\00:02:11.40 and blind children giving them a sense of place, a home 00:02:11.43\00:02:15.65 but what we really discovered was being given was hope, 00:02:15.68\00:02:19.36 giving hope to children, giving hope to women, 00:02:19.39\00:02:24.04 giving hope to the one's who need it the most. 00:02:24.07\00:02:27.97 This is Hope In Motion. 00:02:28.00\00:02:30.27 Two days of travel and almost 10,000 miles away, 00:02:47.35\00:02:50.87 we finally arrived in Bangalore, India, 00:02:50.90\00:02:53.42 only to take another one hour flight 00:02:53.45\00:02:55.81 to the city of Vishakhapatnam 00:02:55.84\00:02:57.61 in the shores of the Bay of Bengal. 00:02:57.64\00:02:59.76 It was hard to imagine what we would see 00:03:06.55\00:03:08.75 when we finally arrived in India. 00:03:08.78\00:03:11.01 It was also hard to imagine 00:03:11.04\00:03:12.69 that the weather would be so hot and humid. 00:03:12.72\00:03:16.04 Exhausted from our travel 00:03:16.07\00:03:17.27 we met Jim Rennie the CEO of Asian Aid USA 00:03:17.30\00:03:20.30 and our production team at the airport. 00:03:20.33\00:03:22.36 Driving through the streets of Vishakapatnam 00:03:30.41\00:03:32.41 was an experience in itself. 00:03:32.44\00:03:35.08 I heard lot about driving in India 00:03:35.11\00:03:36.66 but now I was able to see for myself, 00:03:36.69\00:03:39.66 that this was the city of synchronized chaos. 00:03:39.69\00:03:43.75 I thought being raised in New York City 00:03:43.78\00:03:45.50 prepared me for anything, 00:03:45.53\00:03:47.47 but I was about to be introduced to quite a different world. 00:03:47.50\00:03:51.61 In a caravan of cars we made our way 00:03:51.64\00:03:53.60 through the chaotic streets of the city 00:03:53.63\00:03:55.56 until we arrived at a very dingy narrow street 00:03:55.59\00:03:59.24 where Jim said, this is it. 00:03:59.27\00:04:01.74 Yeah. 00:04:01.77\00:04:02.80 Intermingling of smiles and bright colorful 00:04:10.49\00:04:12.79 made of outfits on that narrow alley 00:04:12.82\00:04:15.25 where the sight and smells of despair and hopelessness. 00:04:15.28\00:04:19.36 A slum settlement in the city 00:04:19.39\00:04:22.17 and it was quite a challenge taking it all 00:04:22.20\00:04:23.96 in as we made our way to the slum school, 00:04:23.99\00:04:26.43 a development project undertaken by, Asian Aid. 00:04:26.46\00:04:31.62 Well, welcome to the small city of Vizag, 00:04:31.65\00:04:34.46 here in the slums of India. 00:04:34.49\00:04:36.95 This is one of many cities around the country of India 00:04:36.98\00:04:40.60 and people come here gathering looking for work, 00:04:40.63\00:04:42.73 looking for hope, look for employment, 00:04:42.76\00:04:45.20 often disappointed after not finding anything 00:04:45.23\00:04:47.89 beyond their daily wages and daily labor jobs. 00:04:47.92\00:04:52.18 However we've come here 00:04:52.21\00:04:53.24 let you know that there is an answer 00:04:53.27\00:04:54.59 and Asian Aid has found the answer 00:04:54.62\00:04:56.93 to situations like this in the slums of this country 00:04:56.96\00:04:59.99 and that is, to build a school. 00:05:00.02\00:05:02.11 The room is filled with little children 00:05:10.73\00:05:12.92 and very bright smiles. 00:05:12.95\00:05:14.86 As I tried to put the entire scene together, 00:05:14.89\00:05:17.55 I was told that many of these children 00:05:17.58\00:05:19.56 were the children from this slum community. 00:05:19.59\00:05:22.52 The children sat on the dusty ground 00:05:29.02\00:05:30.77 uncomfortably close together. 00:05:30.80\00:05:32.99 It was such a joy to here them saying, 00:05:33.02\00:05:35.53 I was able to share stories, to let them know 00:05:35.56\00:05:37.94 that Jesus cared about each of their lives. 00:05:37.97\00:05:40.97 How many of you want to be in the king's castle one day. 00:05:41.00\00:05:45.18 Naomi as I later discovered 00:05:45.21\00:05:46.62 is the principal of this small school 00:05:46.65\00:05:49.06 and after looking around I realized, 00:05:49.09\00:05:51.87 that God had called her and her team to a special work. 00:05:51.90\00:05:56.05 God was doing something special here through Asian Aid. 00:05:56.08\00:06:00.89 Jesus told us to go in to the highways 00:06:00.92\00:06:03.44 and the hedges and to invite all to come. 00:06:03.47\00:06:07.30 After we saw the people that are being reached 00:06:07.33\00:06:09.37 in spite of how terrible things looked, 00:06:09.40\00:06:11.93 we then realized that, 00:06:11.96\00:06:13.70 Asian Aid was serious about that commission. 00:06:13.73\00:06:17.57 I'm just in awe of what I see, when I pass the slum area's 00:06:17.60\00:06:24.19 and to see Lord you have to reach them, 00:06:24.22\00:06:27.35 because we know, we're told in the Bible 00:06:27.38\00:06:29.35 that this gospel will be preached 00:06:29.38\00:06:31.30 into all the world as a witness, 00:06:31.33\00:06:33.86 then shall the end come. 00:06:33.89\00:06:35.72 So-- and its not-- the way it's preached 00:06:35.75\00:06:38.87 is through your actions what you can do for others, 00:06:38.90\00:06:42.25 not just preaching to them is doing for them 00:06:42.28\00:06:45.71 and so this is what these facilities are doing. 00:06:45.74\00:06:49.99 They're providing 00:06:50.02\00:06:51.05 the necessities for these children. 00:06:51.08\00:06:54.43 Had it not been for the dedication of Asian Aid, 00:06:54.46\00:06:57.32 the gospel might pass to this community. 00:06:57.35\00:07:00.51 It was not just the buildings in that community 00:07:00.54\00:07:02.61 that were being transformed, 00:07:02.64\00:07:04.42 but also the lives of everyone that live there. 00:07:04.45\00:07:09.05 Later that afternoon 00:07:09.08\00:07:10.17 we were taken to the local conference hall 00:07:10.20\00:07:11.94 that's where we met with pastors and Bible workers. 00:07:11.97\00:07:15.20 It was a humbling experience for me to realize 00:07:15.23\00:07:18.30 that I was meeting with people 00:07:18.33\00:07:19.81 who are driven by the same faith as I have. 00:07:19.84\00:07:23.34 People who are bringing God's message 00:07:23.37\00:07:26.10 to this part of the world, 00:07:26.13\00:07:28.16 Christ return would be hastened because of people like this. 00:07:28.19\00:07:32.65 Before we left we had a wonderful 00:07:32.68\00:07:34.28 time of prayer and encouragement. 00:07:34.31\00:07:36.56 Our first day with Asian Aid was a day of incessant 00:07:36.59\00:07:39.69 and frantic activity. 00:07:39.72\00:07:41.35 It was a small peek into what was in store for us. 00:07:41.38\00:07:45.15 The next day we drove along the coast, 00:07:53.43\00:07:55.61 toward Asian Aid's school for the blind in Bobbili, 00:07:55.64\00:07:58.33 about three hours drive from Vizag. 00:07:58.36\00:08:01.35 As it always happens during missions 00:08:01.38\00:08:03.44 you expect the unexpected. 00:08:03.47\00:08:05.87 As we reached this small town of Vijayanagaram 00:08:05.90\00:08:08.34 we took a detour to visit an Adventist school campus. 00:08:08.37\00:08:12.46 As I spoke to Rukhma, the school principal, 00:08:12.49\00:08:14.92 I learned a precarious condition 00:08:14.95\00:08:17.20 she and herstaff had to manage the school with. 00:08:17.23\00:08:22.07 Well, here I am sitting in one of the classrooms 00:08:22.10\00:08:24.66 in Vijayanagaram in India, on a relatively hot day 00:08:24.69\00:08:29.33 and its not even summer yet. 00:08:29.36\00:08:31.48 I am sitting in a facilities 00:08:31.51\00:08:32.75 that many of you watching this program would never 00:08:32.78\00:08:34.98 have the experience of sitting in, 00:08:35.01\00:08:37.08 desks that are old, 00:08:37.11\00:08:38.90 floor's that are not carpeted or covered with any kind of wood 00:08:38.93\00:08:42.60 and the ceilings are very hot 00:08:42.63\00:08:44.73 and its not even summer yet. 00:08:44.76\00:08:47.30 When it rains, the rain comes in, 00:08:47.33\00:08:49.65 when it is hot the sun and its heat comes in 00:08:49.68\00:08:52.87 and these are the conditions 00:08:52.90\00:08:53.94 under which the students are learning day by day, 00:08:53.97\00:08:57.36 quite unlike the way it is in the United States 00:08:57.39\00:08:59.65 and many of the parts of the world. 00:08:59.68\00:09:02.05 However, there are some plans in place 00:09:02.08\00:09:04.25 actually we looking for a brighter future. 00:09:04.28\00:09:06.88 Asian Aid along with the sponsors 00:09:06.91\00:09:08.51 that partner with it, 00:09:08.54\00:09:10.11 are going to make a difference in this community. 00:09:10.14\00:09:12.44 This is a large campus, 00:09:12.47\00:09:13.95 these conditions are repeated from classroom to classroom 00:09:13.98\00:09:17.49 but there is hope, along with sponsorship 00:09:17.52\00:09:20.26 and those who stand with Asian Aid there are plans 00:09:20.29\00:09:22.85 and we are looking forward to building a new campus 00:09:22.88\00:09:26.23 hopefully two storey's and it's going to be built, 00:09:26.26\00:09:29.09 right over there. 00:09:29.12\00:09:30.15 Now this is a Christian Campus, 00:09:36.25\00:09:37.84 how does that fit with the community? 00:09:37.87\00:09:41.83 Rukhma explains to me that people send their kinds here 00:09:41.86\00:09:44.91 even though it's a Christian school, 00:09:44.94\00:09:47.03 but lack of facilities is deterring many of them 00:09:47.06\00:09:49.99 from sending them here. 00:09:50.02\00:09:51.66 Place where the boys are staying. 00:09:51.69\00:09:53.64 This is our church. 00:09:53.67\00:09:55.25 Since we don't have place, 00:09:55.28\00:09:57.87 so we are keeping all these boys in the church. 00:09:57.90\00:10:01.62 So they are studying here and they are sleeping here. 00:10:01.65\00:10:05.62 And they worship here? 00:10:05.65\00:10:06.68 They worship here. Okay. 00:10:06.71\00:10:07.74 When Saturday comes we pack all the things aside, 00:10:07.77\00:10:10.71 then we put chairs. 00:10:10.74\00:10:13.96 Good afternoon, children. 00:10:13.99\00:10:15.03 Say good afternoon. Good afternoon. 00:10:15.06\00:10:16.37 Good afternoon. 00:10:16.40\00:10:17.54 How are you? Fine, sir. 00:10:17.57\00:10:20.08 Good. Good. 00:10:20.11\00:10:21.37 Wow. 00:10:21.40\00:10:22.50 Well, show us some of their beds where they lay down each night. 00:10:22.53\00:10:25.07 Actually, they don't have proper beds. 00:10:25.10\00:10:26.92 They'll only sleep on mats, mats. 00:10:26.95\00:10:30.09 So they sleep, this is where they sleep, 00:10:30.12\00:10:31.80 this is some of their sleeping ports. 00:10:31.83\00:10:33.88 So this is one of their beds right here? 00:10:33.91\00:10:35.46 Yes sir. 00:10:35.49\00:10:36.52 So where is this -- do they have a pillow? 00:10:36.55\00:10:38.12 No pillow, sir. 00:10:38.15\00:10:39.18 So if I-- could I lay down here and try it out? 00:10:39.21\00:10:43.12 Could I, could I try? This is a wow. 00:10:43.15\00:10:45.71 So this is like a-- 00:10:45.74\00:10:47.40 now for me this would be camping, 00:10:51.89\00:10:53.63 but for the students that live here 00:10:53.66\00:10:56.30 this is what they sleep on every day, 00:10:56.33\00:10:59.05 a straw mat a blanket and a hard floor. 00:10:59.08\00:11:03.87 When we think about education, 00:11:03.90\00:11:05.30 when we think about conditions 00:11:05.33\00:11:06.93 that are suitable for children 00:11:06.96\00:11:10.12 this is not our ideal vision, that's why Asian Aid 00:11:10.15\00:11:14.41 and your sponsorship could make a difference 00:11:14.44\00:11:16.95 not only in buildings, but in the ways 00:11:16.98\00:11:19.89 that the students learn and sleep and live. 00:11:19.92\00:11:23.49 What an amazing revolution 00:11:23.52\00:11:25.12 we can start here if we join hands together 00:11:25.15\00:11:28.21 and begin to impact the schools in this region of the world. 00:11:28.24\00:11:32.65 Hey I notice that you're writing in English over here, 00:11:32.68\00:11:36.15 but then you're writing in your own language 00:11:36.18\00:11:38.20 in other places isn't that amazing? 00:11:38.23\00:11:41.21 Wow. 00:11:41.24\00:11:42.75 You know it's a life changing experience 00:11:42.78\00:11:45.02 when you come here to schools like this in India 00:11:45.05\00:11:48.32 and this is one of many 00:11:48.35\00:11:50.07 that have some of the similar conditions. 00:11:50.10\00:11:52.55 We showed you where the children sleep, 00:11:52.58\00:11:54.43 where they study, where they worship 00:11:54.46\00:11:56.73 and for the boys it's in the very same facility, 00:11:56.76\00:11:59.04 this is school, this is home, 00:11:59.07\00:12:01.64 this is also their Church. 00:12:01.67\00:12:03.46 But something else that impressed me 00:12:03.49\00:12:04.79 is that we have so much where we live, 00:12:04.82\00:12:07.18 we talk about technology, 00:12:07.21\00:12:08.86 there are no computers here, 00:12:08.89\00:12:10.40 we talk about iPads and iPods 00:12:10.43\00:12:13.24 and even things that can help 00:12:13.27\00:12:15.36 enhance their learning skills, 00:12:15.39\00:12:17.31 but those are nonexistent here. 00:12:17.34\00:12:19.44 Also, there are some students like this one 00:12:19.47\00:12:21.69 and this one, this is David. 00:12:21.72\00:12:22.98 And what's your name again? 00:12:23.01\00:12:25.48 And Anudeep, these young boys can learn 00:12:25.51\00:12:29.52 like any of our students in America can learn 00:12:29.55\00:12:31.57 or any other part of the world, but an advantages 00:12:31.60\00:12:34.22 that we have is something that they're missing. 00:12:34.25\00:12:37.02 And there may be some of you watching this program that say 00:12:37.05\00:12:39.01 well, now how can I experience this or not only experience 00:12:39.04\00:12:43.25 but how can I make a difference? 00:12:43.28\00:12:45.08 Well, they are learning English 00:12:45.11\00:12:46.78 but conversational English is something quite different. 00:12:46.81\00:12:49.88 And you may think about volunteering to come here 00:12:49.91\00:12:52.03 and help out in the school facility 00:12:52.06\00:12:54.18 and may be even being 00:12:54.21\00:12:55.79 part of the teaching staff to teach these young men 00:12:55.82\00:12:58.64 and also the young women, conversational English. 00:12:58.67\00:13:01.90 What a difference can be made 00:13:01.93\00:13:03.39 in this part of the world if we think about 00:13:03.42\00:13:06.05 how the Lord is impressing our lives, 00:13:06.08\00:13:08.51 to go forth not only with preached gospel 00:13:08.54\00:13:11.22 but with the gospel of experience 00:13:11.25\00:13:13.57 to transform these life's. 00:13:13.60\00:13:15.38 Oh, yeah. This is the office building. 00:13:21.70\00:13:24.40 This is our prayer hall for office. 00:13:24.43\00:13:26.85 For time being we kept all this girls here. 00:13:26.88\00:13:29.76 Twenty eight girls are staying in this. 00:13:29.79\00:13:32.33 And they're all pretty. 00:13:32.36\00:13:35.49 Hi, girls. Hi, sir. 00:13:35.52\00:13:38.47 It's quite a huge campus and Asian Aid has dreams 00:13:42.27\00:13:45.88 for this campus to put up facilities here 00:13:45.91\00:13:48.70 and usher them towards self growth. 00:13:48.73\00:13:51.54 But more importantly provide the children 00:13:51.57\00:13:53.89 with a dignified place to live and study. 00:13:53.92\00:13:56.93 Back on the road, we're headed towards Bobbili. 00:14:10.84\00:14:13.01 Thank you. 00:14:34.59\00:14:36.96 Yes. Good evening. 00:16:02.34\00:16:04.58 What's your name? My name is Venkatesh. 00:16:04.61\00:16:06.33 What's your name, sir? I am John. 00:16:06.36\00:16:08.33 A warm welcome awaited us 00:16:08.36\00:16:09.83 at the Asian Aid's School for the Blind. 00:16:09.86\00:16:12.41 And here the simple act of a handshake, 00:16:12.44\00:16:14.91 a simple gesture of putting hand on somebody's shoulder, 00:16:14.94\00:16:18.44 gave a whole different meaning for me. 00:16:18.47\00:16:21.44 Touch was for them a communication tool. 00:16:21.47\00:16:26.98 The school for the blind of Bobbili is in a quite 00:16:27.01\00:16:29.56 location surrounded by bright green rice fields, 00:16:29.59\00:16:33.47 an ideal location for learning for those with disabilities. 00:16:33.50\00:16:38.98 I was glad to learn 00:16:39.01\00:16:40.04 from Pastor Paulson the school principal, 00:16:40.07\00:16:43.43 that there was no preferential treatment for admission. 00:16:43.46\00:16:45.45 Once they come into the campus, they are all one. 00:16:45.48\00:16:49.97 And we make it very clear, no religion, no cast 00:16:50.00\00:16:56.74 or no family background nothing is going to stop them 00:16:56.77\00:17:01.10 from we giving them admission. 00:17:01.13\00:17:02.86 We take everyone. 00:17:02.89\00:17:04.61 Our stay at the blind school was quite an eye opener. 00:17:04.64\00:17:07.98 We noticed that the boys and girls 00:17:08.01\00:17:09.59 really worked very well together. 00:17:09.62\00:17:12.00 There was a unity 00:17:12.03\00:17:13.06 that I had hardly seen among people that had sight. 00:17:13.09\00:17:16.77 This what I have noticed just like we see one bird being hurt 00:17:16.80\00:17:22.62 there are ten birds coming together, 00:17:22.65\00:17:25.15 this is what we see in the natural world. 00:17:25.18\00:17:27.16 And I have noticed some how that one child cries 00:17:27.19\00:17:31.20 all that the other children come together, 00:17:31.23\00:17:33.22 they catch hold of him, tell him what it is, 00:17:33.25\00:17:36.24 what is that made you to cry 00:17:36.27\00:17:38.39 and they try to comfort him as far as possible 00:17:38.42\00:17:41.02 and involve him and tell him 00:17:41.05\00:17:43.10 this is good and we are all stay together 00:17:43.13\00:17:46.63 and they live together. 00:17:46.66\00:17:47.71 And this becomes their family. 00:17:47.74\00:17:49.16 And this becomes their family. 00:17:49.19\00:17:50.49 And Asian Aid and all the staff 00:17:50.52\00:17:52.02 becomes their Mom's and their Dad's. 00:17:52.05\00:17:53.52 Yes. Yes. 00:17:53.55\00:17:55.19 In the two days my wife Angela 00:17:55.22\00:17:57.01 and I spent at the blind school, 00:17:57.04\00:17:59.19 I learned a very valuable phrase there, 00:17:59.22\00:18:02.03 a phrase that helps and motivates people 00:18:02.06\00:18:04.13 like Pastor Paulson to work for the blind children. 00:18:04.16\00:18:08.87 There is a phrase that you used that really opened my eyes 00:18:08.90\00:18:11.67 because sometimes we use the word disabled, 00:18:11.70\00:18:14.22 but you say they are not disabled, 00:18:14.25\00:18:16.55 what was the phrase that you used? 00:18:16.58\00:18:18.72 We usually tell them 00:18:18.75\00:18:20.12 that these children are differently abled. 00:18:20.15\00:18:23.01 Differently abled. 00:18:23.04\00:18:24.07 Differently abled. Okay. 00:18:24.10\00:18:25.47 That's how we look at them. 00:18:25.50\00:18:26.84 So they're able to learn differently than we learn. 00:18:26.87\00:18:30.07 Yes. 00:18:30.10\00:18:31.29 All the body parts are the same except the eye sight. 00:18:31.32\00:18:33.68 All right. 00:18:33.71\00:18:34.74 And we decide by looking this is this, 00:18:34.77\00:18:37.39 but those children they tell the same thing 00:18:37.42\00:18:40.23 that we tell in a different way, since they cannot see. 00:18:40.26\00:18:44.48 Talking to Pastor Paulson that day 00:18:44.51\00:18:46.60 I noticed that it's not just the lives of the children 00:18:46.63\00:18:49.65 that we're transforming, 00:18:49.68\00:18:51.21 but we go through a life changing experience too, 00:18:51.24\00:18:54.80 as Pastor Paulson found out. 00:18:54.83\00:18:57.41 Jesus lived on this earth, He likes such kind of children, 00:18:57.44\00:19:01.16 He likes such kind of people 00:19:01.19\00:19:02.97 who are rejected by the community. 00:19:03.00\00:19:06.05 So I thought Jesus Christ has done that 00:19:06.08\00:19:08.79 and why not I do it, 00:19:08.82\00:19:10.89 may be I thought God gave me an opportunity 00:19:10.92\00:19:13.53 to serve such kind of children. 00:19:13.56\00:19:16.36 And Jesus Christ said "Inasmuch as you have done 00:19:16.39\00:19:19.22 unto one of the least of these my brethren, 00:19:19.25\00:19:21.06 you have done it unto Me." 00:19:21.09\00:19:22.69 I ask the children walk in faith, 00:19:22.72\00:19:24.65 I look at all of them observe them 00:19:24.68\00:19:26.31 and talk with everyone, 00:19:26.34\00:19:27.65 I never neglect anyone. 00:19:27.68\00:19:29.93 Even if there is a purpose, I've got a purpose, 00:19:29.96\00:19:32.32 I talk with them make sure 00:19:32.35\00:19:34.21 that I'm in touch with them. 00:19:34.24\00:19:35.64 Wow. And they are with me. 00:19:35.67\00:19:37.04 Sabbath in Bobbili was a solemn experience. 00:19:56.12\00:19:59.09 Church was in the town's center on the terrace 00:19:59.12\00:20:01.24 of the Adventist day school in town. 00:20:01.27\00:20:04.14 Members from town as well as children 00:20:04.17\00:20:05.85 from the Sunrise Home attended the service. 00:20:05.88\00:20:08.81 As I was mentally preparing for the sermon 00:20:08.84\00:20:10.96 I was to give I was moved by the reverence 00:20:10.99\00:20:14.28 of the local people, especially the women. 00:20:14.31\00:20:17.69 Women covering their heads, bow their heads 00:20:17.72\00:20:20.64 to the ground as they prayed. 00:20:20.67\00:20:23.08 In a more unfamiliar twist of events, 00:20:23.11\00:20:25.50 someone brought a chicken to Church as an offering. 00:20:25.53\00:20:29.06 My wife and I were worried about the faith 00:20:29.09\00:20:30.91 that would befall the chicken 00:20:30.94\00:20:32.07 and decided to pay an offering double the prize. 00:20:32.10\00:20:35.57 It also provided me an object lesson for my sermon. 00:20:35.60\00:20:38.82 That Sabbath afternoon 00:20:45.56\00:20:46.59 we made our way to the Sunrise Children's Home, 00:20:46.62\00:20:49.81 about ten miles from Bobbili town. 00:20:49.84\00:20:52.85 When we reached there, 00:20:52.88\00:20:54.32 boys and girls were waiting for us at the gate, 00:20:54.35\00:20:57.26 greeting us and showering us with beautiful flowers 00:20:57.29\00:21:00.90 as we walked into the campus. 00:21:00.93\00:21:02.53 He said two times. 00:21:17.27\00:21:20.36 Hi. 00:21:20.39\00:21:22.97 This is me and my chicken. 00:21:23.00\00:21:26.23 I officially as the CEO of Asian Aid USA, 00:21:26.26\00:21:30.35 hereby name this chicken John Lomacang. 00:21:30.38\00:21:35.00 I also instruct Rama that this chicken 00:21:35.03\00:21:37.41 must be given VIP status in the chicken coop. 00:21:37.44\00:21:41.48 That's right. 00:21:46.26\00:21:48.62 that's what happens when you come to church. 00:21:48.65\00:21:50.90 He was saved and now he can sing because he is happy, 00:21:50.93\00:21:55.59 he can sing because he is see I've got a commitment 00:22:12.20\00:22:13.41 out of the children here at Sunrise Children's Home 00:22:13.44\00:22:17.64 we just visited one of mine newest friends of my family, 00:22:17.67\00:22:21.03 a chicken that was saved from church today. 00:22:21.06\00:22:23.34 But this home has been saving life's 00:22:23.37\00:22:26.23 that are much more valuable then chickens. 00:22:26.26\00:22:28.73 This is truly where the sunrises 00:22:28.76\00:22:31.08 on the life's of these boys and girls everyday 00:22:31.11\00:22:34.07 and what a blessing. 00:22:34.10\00:22:35.98 Thank you, to those of you who are standing and praying 00:22:36.01\00:22:39.04 for the ministry of Asian Aid. 00:22:39.07\00:22:41.34 Look at the difference it's made 00:22:41.37\00:22:43.03 in these colorful lives, these bright eyes 00:22:43.06\00:22:46.30 and the future of the church is in good hands, 00:22:46.33\00:22:49.44 because of the work that you're doing. 00:22:49.47\00:22:51.20 God bless you for all that you do 00:22:51.23\00:22:53.08 for this wonderful ministry. 00:22:53.11\00:22:54.86 Rajarama, who is Asian Aid's field officer 00:23:00.91\00:23:04.27 showed me around this new campus. 00:23:04.30\00:23:06.67 So want you to show me is this is the quarters, 00:23:06.70\00:23:10.07 this is where the boys and girls sleep right now. 00:23:10.10\00:23:12.65 Now compared to where they used to, 00:23:12.68\00:23:14.71 this is a great improvement, 00:23:14.74\00:23:15.92 there are 15 rooms 00:23:15.95\00:23:17.97 and boys occupy ten of those, the girls occupy five of those. 00:23:18.00\00:23:22.19 One of the greatest blessings is at the old facility, 00:23:22.22\00:23:24.98 they only had four toilets for 73 students 00:23:25.01\00:23:29.60 but at this one they have 25 toilets for 73 students. 00:23:29.63\00:23:34.61 But there is something also in the works 00:23:34.64\00:23:36.05 because they planning on building 00:23:36.08\00:23:37.27 another dorm to my right 00:23:37.30\00:23:39.50 and its going to be for the girls 00:23:39.53\00:23:43.44 and that dorm is in the plans 00:23:43.47\00:23:45.18 and in the works and right now 00:23:45.21\00:23:46.83 if you look at this facility it's a great improvement 00:23:46.86\00:23:49.63 over what they used to sleep in when they lived in the city 00:23:49.66\00:23:54.49 and what a beautiful campus. 00:23:54.52\00:23:56.08 As Rajarama was showing me around 00:24:04.68\00:24:07.07 I was constantly reminded of difference 00:24:07.10\00:24:09.49 Asian Aid is trying to make here 00:24:09.52\00:24:11.58 in this part of the world for the children. 00:24:11.61\00:24:15.12 Well, I think the big difference we've made is 00:24:15.15\00:24:17.56 that we've been able to give so many children 00:24:17.59\00:24:20.95 a chance of Christian education. 00:24:20.98\00:24:25.00 And we take children based on need 00:24:25.03\00:24:28.23 and they're sponsored by a person at home. 00:24:28.26\00:24:31.25 And these people are making a big difference 00:24:31.28\00:24:35.29 in the life of the children that you've seen everyday. 00:24:35.32\00:24:39.20 This provision for Christian education 00:24:39.23\00:24:41.73 was all the more evident as we were taken down 00:24:41.76\00:24:44.45 to the river side beside the campus. 00:24:44.48\00:24:47.14 When Jesus in the family 00:24:56.47\00:24:58.21 Happy, happy home 00:24:58.24\00:25:00.21 Happy, happy home 00:25:00.24\00:25:02.12 Happy, happy home 00:25:02.15\00:25:03.86 When Jesus in the family 00:25:03.89\00:25:05.94 Happy, happy home 00:25:05.97\00:25:07.82 Happy, happy home 00:25:07.85\00:25:11.02 And well, here we are, down by the riverside 00:25:22.03\00:25:25.02 at the Sunrise Home enjoying sun down worship 00:25:25.05\00:25:28.56 on a beautiful Sabbath afternoon. 00:25:28.59\00:25:30.97 You know, as I am standing over here I realize 00:25:31.00\00:25:33.55 why we've been given counsel to come out in nature 00:25:33.58\00:25:37.02 and enjoy what God has, all the natural beauty, 00:25:37.05\00:25:40.89 the singing of the children. 00:25:40.92\00:25:42.69 This is the place that invites 00:25:42.72\00:25:45.05 the presence of God without any distractions 00:25:45.08\00:25:47.54 far away from the cities, 00:25:47.57\00:25:49.63 far away from the noise, 00:25:49.66\00:25:51.52 far away from the traffic. 00:25:51.55\00:25:53.23 What beautiful sounds to here nature speaking to us 00:25:53.26\00:25:56.70 and the voice of the children as the Sabbath sets, 00:25:56.73\00:26:00.19 this is worship at Sunrise Home. 00:26:00.22\00:26:03.17 On the way back from Sunrise Home 00:26:13.13\00:26:15.47 a thought kept ringing in my mind. 00:26:15.50\00:26:17.86 What a change we can bring about here in India, 00:26:17.89\00:26:20.52 if there are more schools like this. 00:26:20.55\00:26:23.24 There would be more lives that will be changed and saved. 00:26:23.27\00:26:27.39 You know, here I'm sitting at the end of a trip 00:26:34.57\00:26:36.97 that has really revolutionized the way I look at Asian Aid, 00:26:37.00\00:26:40.17 revolutionized the way I think of missions, 00:26:40.20\00:26:42.72 particularly in India. 00:26:42.75\00:26:44.51 For so often I've sat in my living room there 00:26:44.54\00:26:46.36 and watched Asian Aid when it came on television, 00:26:46.39\00:26:48.82 but what a difference to come here 00:26:48.85\00:26:50.78 and experience, to see the lives being changed. 00:26:50.81\00:26:53.63 The children of the blind school, 00:26:53.66\00:26:55.25 the school in Vizag, the school in Bobbili, 00:26:55.28\00:26:58.44 Sunrise Home, to meet the staff 00:26:58.47\00:27:01.27 to see that these individuals are not here for the money 00:27:01.30\00:27:04.63 but boy, the payment is far greater than anything 00:27:04.66\00:27:08.21 that we can write down on paper. 00:27:08.24\00:27:10.13 And I know by personal experience 00:27:10.16\00:27:12.24 and by being here that Asian Aid is not just a program, 00:27:12.27\00:27:15.54 not just a good broadcast, but really it is something 00:27:15.57\00:27:18.75 that's transforming lives and I've got to say 00:27:18.78\00:27:20.72 as pastor preaching and teaching, 00:27:20.75\00:27:22.95 this is really, really blessed my life. 00:27:22.98\00:27:25.08 Really, I'm changed by this experience 00:27:25.11\00:27:28.29 and I will really not be the same, after this trip. 00:27:28.32\00:27:31.07
