Hello, and welcome to "Help in Daily Living." 00:00:38.48\00:00:41.08 Today, we're gonna be looking at how God wants us to reach 00:00:41.09\00:00:43.93 a higher experience in our relationship with Him. 00:00:43.94\00:00:47.25 It says, Jesus says, when He speaks to His disciples 00:00:47.26\00:00:50.09 in John Chapter 15 verse 11 where He says, 00:00:50.10\00:00:53.58 "I have told you these things so that my joy might be in you 00:00:53.59\00:00:57.69 and so that your joy might be full." 00:00:57.70\00:01:00.47 He wants us to have a fuller, deeper, 00:01:00.48\00:01:03.51 more broader relationship with Him. 00:01:03.52\00:01:07.25 But this is such an important topic. 00:01:07.26\00:01:08.87 And before we get into something like this, 00:01:08.88\00:01:10.72 we really need to turn to God and ask Him to bless us. 00:01:10.73\00:01:14.61 And so I'm gonna ask Cyrus to lead us 00:01:14.62\00:01:15.90 to lead us in a word of prayer. 00:01:15.91\00:01:17.60 Let's pray. Heavenly Father, Lord, 00:01:17.61\00:01:21.31 thank you for Your many blessings that You give to us. 00:01:21.32\00:01:24.51 And I want to thank You also, Lord, 00:01:24.52\00:01:26.39 for the time for fellowship that we can have. 00:01:26.40\00:01:29.30 And Lord, I ask that You would help us 00:01:29.31\00:01:32.31 to have a perpetual growth in our relationship with You. 00:01:32.32\00:01:36.17 In Jesus' name I pray, amen. Amen. 00:01:36.18\00:01:39.50 Having a relationship with God is important to me, 00:01:41.80\00:01:45.10 but I often struggle with knowing 00:01:45.11\00:01:46.79 how to have a strong one. 00:01:46.80\00:01:48.50 I've read my Bible, I prayed, 00:01:48.51\00:01:50.03 I've tried to do all the right things, 00:01:50.04\00:01:52.00 yet nothing seemed to change. 00:01:52.01\00:01:54.33 But I've learned something. 00:01:54.34\00:01:55.52 It's not the amount of time I spend talking with God, 00:01:55.53\00:01:58.05 it's what I told Him. 00:01:58.06\00:01:59.58 I need to communicate honestly from my heart. 00:01:59.59\00:02:02.03 If I am hurting, He wants to know, 00:02:02.04\00:02:03.59 and if I'm really excited, He wants to know that too. 00:02:03.60\00:02:07.05 Slowly but truly, I'm coming to the point 00:02:07.06\00:02:09.34 where I must tell Jesus my burdens and cares. 00:02:09.35\00:02:12.14 Knowing that He understands 00:02:12.15\00:02:13.57 and wants to be with me through it all. 00:02:13.58\00:02:15.48 I must tell Jesus all of my trials 00:02:46.50\00:02:52.74 I cannot bear these burdens alone 00:02:52.75\00:02:59.70 In my distress He kindly will help me 00:02:59.71\00:03:06.17 He ever loves and cares for His own 00:03:06.18\00:03:12.89 I must tell Jesus! I must tell Jesus 00:03:12.90\00:03:19.16 I cannot bear my burdens alone 00:03:19.17\00:03:25.36 I must tell Jesus! I must tell Jesus! 00:03:25.37\00:03:31.64 Jesus can help me, Jesus alone 00:03:31.65\00:03:40.42 I must tell Jesus all of my troubles 00:03:49.58\00:03:57.14 He is a kind, compassionate Friend 00:03:57.15\00:04:04.33 If I but ask Him He will deliver 00:04:04.34\00:04:11.16 Which are troubles quickly an end 00:04:11.17\00:04:17.81 I must tell Jesus! I must tell Jesus 00:04:17.82\00:04:24.11 I cannot bear my burdens alone 00:04:24.12\00:04:30.14 I must tell Jesus! I must tell Jesus 00:04:30.15\00:04:36.61 Jesus can help me, Jesus alone 00:04:36.62\00:04:44.02 O how the world to evil allures me 00:04:44.03\00:04:49.95 O how my heart is tempted to sin 00:04:49.96\00:04:55.88 I must tell Jesus, and He will help me 00:04:55.89\00:05:01.83 Over the world the victory to win 00:05:01.84\00:05:08.12 I must tell Jesus! I must tell Jesus 00:05:08.13\00:05:14.49 I cannot bear my burdens alone 00:05:14.50\00:05:20.63 I must tell Jesus! I must tell Jesus 00:05:20.64\00:05:27.16 Jesus can help me, Jesus alone. 00:05:27.17\00:05:36.09 You know that song "I must tell Jesus," 00:06:04.53\00:06:06.83 it's really about turning to Him 00:06:06.84\00:06:09.93 whatever is on your heart. 00:06:09.94\00:06:11.32 And I know, Rachel, 00:06:11.33\00:06:12.65 when you were working door to door, 00:06:12.66\00:06:14.89 I mean, going door to door is not an easy thing, 00:06:14.90\00:06:17.51 and you're selling books. 00:06:17.52\00:06:20.12 It's really, you're walking. 00:06:20.13\00:06:21.80 You can be feeling like you're walking along, 00:06:21.81\00:06:24.39 but you're really walking with Jesus. 00:06:24.40\00:06:26.50 And tell us about that experience. 00:06:26.51\00:06:28.89 Okay. Well, when I went selling 00:06:28.90\00:06:31.95 books door to door last couple of summers ago. 00:06:31.96\00:06:34.12 It was really hard work like way harder than I expected. 00:06:34.13\00:06:37.38 The sun was really, really hot and I know just wanna goes, 00:06:37.39\00:06:40.88 constantly wearing a layer of sweat, 00:06:40.89\00:06:42.61 and my bag of books got really heavy, really fast. 00:06:42.62\00:06:45.46 I can imagine. But at the end of the day, 00:06:45.47\00:06:46.58 I got, I get back to where we were staying 00:06:46.59\00:06:48.42 and my feet would be sore, my back would hurt, 00:06:48.43\00:06:50.98 and for a long time to me, it seemed really pointless. 00:06:50.99\00:06:54.39 'Cause most of the time when we were out there, 00:06:54.40\00:06:55.88 we just get met with rejection door after door after door. 00:06:55.89\00:06:58.55 People says, "Oh, sorry, I'm not interested or no, 00:06:58.56\00:07:01.38 I can't help you today or no, tengo dinero. 00:07:01.39\00:07:04.01 Like it was over and over and over. 00:07:04.02\00:07:05.96 I remember one day I got so many doors slammed in my face. 00:07:05.97\00:07:08.82 I just wanted to sit down on the curb and cry 00:07:08.83\00:07:10.69 and think like, you know, what is the point? 00:07:10.70\00:07:12.83 Right now looking back now though, 00:07:12.84\00:07:14.82 I realize that through that experience, 00:07:14.83\00:07:16.57 God was like reshaping the way I was thinking 00:07:16.58\00:07:18.86 and like teaching me to keep my mind focused on the purpose 00:07:18.87\00:07:21.89 for what I was doing. 00:07:21.90\00:07:23.44 And I didn't really see that clearly 00:07:23.45\00:07:24.89 until the end of the summer, 00:07:24.90\00:07:26.14 it's like two days before our program ended 00:07:26.15\00:07:28.97 and I met this girl at a door 00:07:28.98\00:07:30.50 and I was able to give her "Steps to Christ," 00:07:30.51\00:07:32.92 and I prayed with her and stuff. 00:07:32.93\00:07:34.05 And I kept her contact information 00:07:34.06\00:07:35.84 and at the end of week 00:07:35.85\00:07:37.07 I was able to get together with her. 00:07:37.08\00:07:38.45 We had a Bible study, 00:07:38.46\00:07:39.84 and she continued doing that after 00:07:39.85\00:07:41.61 I left with a different Bible worker. 00:07:41.62\00:07:42.96 And now I know she is doing 00:07:42.97\00:07:44.00 a lot better than when I first met her. 00:07:44.01\00:07:46.42 And just being able to look back 00:07:46.43\00:07:47.86 and see that all that hard work 00:07:47.87\00:07:49.99 and just everything I had to go through 00:07:50.00\00:07:51.71 made a difference in one person's life. 00:07:51.72\00:07:53.46 Yeah. It made it totally worth it, 00:07:53.47\00:07:55.53 even though it was really hard. 00:07:55.54\00:07:56.83 You feel like you were getting, 00:07:56.84\00:07:58.85 like you were walking with Jesus from door to door, 00:07:58.86\00:08:01.27 you know, like you were telling Him 00:08:01.28\00:08:03.18 what you were going through. 00:08:03.19\00:08:04.38 It's more than just a job then-- 00:08:04.39\00:08:06.38 Oh, totally, it's more than job. 00:08:06.39\00:08:08.15 There's a much higher purpose involved. 00:08:08.16\00:08:09.88 You're not just selling any random books. 00:08:09.89\00:08:11.53 It's like giving the truth to people 00:08:11.54\00:08:13.63 that could potentially get them into heaven one day. 00:08:13.64\00:08:16.11 And to be able to reach that higher experience, 00:08:16.12\00:08:17.96 you have to be unselfish. 00:08:17.97\00:08:19.20 And when I think of unselfishness, 00:08:19.21\00:08:20.87 I think of Bristi's parents. 00:08:20.88\00:08:24.18 You want to tell us about your parents. 00:08:24.19\00:08:25.93 Yes, my parents are in their 60s and late 80s. 00:08:25.94\00:08:31.23 And you know, they could be enjoying 00:08:31.24\00:08:33.68 their retirement year. You know, relaxing, 00:08:33.69\00:08:35.99 putting their legs up in a chair and just, 00:08:36.00\00:08:38.36 you know, letting life go by. 00:08:38.37\00:08:40.00 But instead they chose to spend their time 00:08:40.01\00:08:44.35 volunteering at orphanages and their money, 00:08:44.36\00:08:48.42 their time, their energy just everything like-- 00:08:48.43\00:08:51.55 So in this orphanage, you went to that orphanage, 00:08:51.56\00:08:54.60 I mean, you-- That's where they found you. 00:08:54.61\00:08:57.01 Yeah. And so they unselfishly 00:08:57.02\00:08:59.58 took you in as a daughter. 00:08:59.59\00:09:01.46 Yes, they did. 00:09:01.47\00:09:02.82 And they've been just sacrificing so much 00:09:02.83\00:09:08.29 of their whole life basically for these children. 00:09:08.30\00:09:12.45 And so many of times I see these same children 00:09:12.46\00:09:15.27 and they just don't seem very grateful at times. 00:09:15.28\00:09:17.80 And I would often wonder, you know, 00:09:17.81\00:09:20.53 why, why make such a sacrifice for these people 00:09:20.54\00:09:23.42 when they are really not showing any gratitude back. 00:09:23.43\00:09:26.06 Right. And so, then I realized, 00:09:26.07\00:09:29.54 you know, it relates so much 00:09:29.55\00:09:30.88 to what Christ has done for me in my life, 00:09:30.89\00:09:33.31 like when He was on the cross 00:09:33.32\00:09:35.52 and He had the weight of the world on His shoulders. 00:09:35.53\00:09:39.68 You know, the only thing that was holding Him 00:09:39.69\00:09:42.69 on that cross was the fact that He had a aim, 00:09:42.70\00:09:45.36 He had a purpose. Yes. 00:09:45.37\00:09:46.44 And His purpose was to may be one day 00:09:46.45\00:09:49.15 see me in heaven and know that, 00:09:49.16\00:09:51.15 because of His sacrifice I can be there. 00:09:51.16\00:09:53.61 Yeah. And that's, 00:09:53.62\00:09:55.40 that's what my parents were doing. 00:09:55.41\00:09:58.28 Their aim, their goal in sacrificing their time, 00:09:58.29\00:10:02.41 their energy, everything was to one day 00:10:02.42\00:10:05.53 see those children in heaven. Amen. 00:10:05.54\00:10:07.42 And that's a good picture of Jesus 00:10:07.43\00:10:09.31 and His love for us. Yes. 00:10:09.32\00:10:11.23 My dad is a farmer with huge hands. 00:10:14.74\00:10:17.47 They're rough and callus, 00:10:17.48\00:10:18.61 the result of many years of hard work. 00:10:18.62\00:10:20.75 He has deep cracks edging in the fingers of hands 00:10:20.76\00:10:23.43 from working outside during cold winters. 00:10:23.44\00:10:26.15 When I was a little girl, I loved his hands. 00:10:26.16\00:10:28.51 In fact, when I grew up, I wanted hands just like his. 00:10:28.52\00:10:32.31 I would put my hands on my bed and stretch them 00:10:32.32\00:10:34.78 until I was sure that they were gonna have to grow 00:10:34.79\00:10:37.17 a bit that night. 00:10:37.18\00:10:38.88 I know now that the real reason 00:10:38.89\00:10:40.77 why I wanted to have hands like his, 00:10:40.78\00:10:42.92 was because I loved and respected my dad. 00:10:42.93\00:10:45.57 Obviously, his hands represented his character. 00:10:45.58\00:10:48.40 Gentleness shown through his hands, 00:10:48.41\00:10:50.28 revealing the reason I wanted to be like him. 00:10:50.29\00:10:52.64 They were giving hands, holding nothing back 00:10:52.65\00:10:54.96 from friends, family, and people in need. 00:10:54.97\00:10:57.99 Just like I can tell that my dad is a man 00:10:58.00\00:11:00.12 with a strong characterized hands, 00:11:00.13\00:11:02.50 people should be able to tell 00:11:02.58\00:11:03.58 that I am a real Christian by the way I act. 00:11:03.59\00:11:06.45 If I look at my life and realize 00:11:06.46\00:11:08.36 that my heart is callous and hard, 00:11:08.37\00:11:10.27 I need to ask Jesus to change it. 00:11:10.28\00:11:12.80 Only when I draw near to Jesus will people see 00:11:12.81\00:11:15.94 that I am a real Christian. 00:11:15.95\00:11:17.66 Nearer, still nearer, close to Thy heart 00:11:49.11\00:12:02.16 Draw me, my Savior, so precious Thou art 00:12:02.17\00:12:15.50 Fold me, oh, fold me close to Thy breast 00:12:15.51\00:12:28.92 Shelter me safe in that "Haven of Rest" 00:12:28.93\00:12:41.14 Shelter me safe in that "Haven of Rest" 00:12:42.14\00:12:55.26 Nearer, still nearer, nothing I bring 00:13:02.10\00:13:14.30 Naught as an offering to Jesus, my King 00:13:14.31\00:13:26.80 Only my sinful, now contrite heart 00:13:26.81\00:13:39.42 Grant me the cleansing Thy blood doth impart 00:13:39.43\00:13:51.83 Grant me the cleansing Thy blood doth impart 00:13:52.83\00:14:06.11 Nearer, still nearer, Lord, to be Thine 00:14:13.07\00:14:24.98 Sin, with its follies, I gladly resign 00:14:24.99\00:14:38.01 All of its pleasures, pomp and its pride 00:14:38.02\00:14:50.50 Give me but Jesus my Lord, crucified 00:14:50.51\00:15:03.55 Give me but Jesus my Lord, crucified 00:15:03.56\00:15:17.31 Nearer, still nearer while life shall last 00:15:38.93\00:15:51.67 Til safe in glory my anchor is cast 00:15:51.68\00:16:05.15 Through endless ages ever to be 00:16:05.16\00:16:19.11 Nearer, my Savior still nearer to Thee 00:16:19.12\00:16:32.70 Nearer, my Savior still nearer to Thee 00:16:32.71\00:16:52.14 Still nearer to Thee. 00:16:52.15\00:17:06.60 You know, Jesus came to this world 00:17:14.67\00:17:16.82 because He wanted to draw nearer to us 00:17:16.83\00:17:18.78 and He had to come down from heaven really to this, 00:17:18.79\00:17:21.57 this sewer, this dirty planet compared to heaven. Yeah. 00:17:21.58\00:17:25.25 And that's a dirty job. 00:17:25.26\00:17:28.04 And sometimes we have to do dirty jobs 00:17:28.05\00:17:29.72 and it kind of reminds us of Jesus' job 00:17:29.73\00:17:32.02 in coming down here to this planet. 00:17:32.03\00:17:34.76 I know on the farm, there are some dirty jobs 00:17:34.77\00:17:36.71 you have to do, Daniel. Yeah. 00:17:36.72\00:17:38.53 Well, I was working indeed with my friend, Carmen here. 00:17:38.54\00:17:41.78 And with my supervisor Ken, we were out in the fields 00:17:41.79\00:17:44.89 and we were moving the pipe. 00:17:44.90\00:17:46.15 When we were done with that field, 00:17:46.16\00:17:48.10 I sent Carmen to go to turn it on. 00:17:48.11\00:17:49.52 She turns it on, and then Ken walked over 00:17:49.53\00:17:51.38 to make sure all the things were not--were not plugged, 00:17:51.39\00:17:54.14 all the sprinkler heads. Yeah. 00:17:54.15\00:17:55.60 So me and Ken noticed that 00:17:55.61\00:17:57.64 one in the corner is all plugged up. 00:17:57.65\00:17:59.32 So I sent Carmen back to get that to turn it off. Yeah. 00:17:59.33\00:18:03.18 And as we're waiting for it to sink down, 00:18:03.19\00:18:05.61 we go walk over there, I mean, and I'm turning it, 00:18:05.62\00:18:08.88 you know, taking it off. Yeah. 00:18:08.89\00:18:10.58 And all of a sudden a strand of water gets to my mouth, 00:18:10.59\00:18:13.47 and I remember thinking, 00:18:13.48\00:18:14.73 "Man, this stuff is really weird tasting water." 00:18:14.74\00:18:17.70 So I spit it out and lo and behold, 00:18:17.71\00:18:19.61 there is red stuff out of my mouth and I'm like, 00:18:19.62\00:18:22.57 "Oh, this is disgusting, what is this?" 00:18:22.58\00:18:24.71 And I looked over to my supervisor, 00:18:24.72\00:18:26.37 he was hysterically laughing, 00:18:26.38\00:18:27.61 holding the sprinkler head up with the dangling dandles, 00:18:27.62\00:18:30.75 headless rat. Whoa! 00:18:30.76\00:18:32.66 Oh, man, it was so disgusting. 00:18:32.67\00:18:34.05 I didn't realize that it was blood. 00:18:34.06\00:18:35.67 I was like, "Oh, yuck, and I spit it out." 00:18:35.68\00:18:38.04 As I look over to my supervisor, 00:18:38.05\00:18:40.87 and he's just hysterically laughing at me 00:18:40.88\00:18:42.63 and I laughed with him. 00:18:42.64\00:18:45.28 That is a dirty job. Disgusting. 00:18:45.29\00:18:47.54 Well, I have a similar experience though. 00:18:47.55\00:18:50.31 Let me tell you. 00:18:50.32\00:18:51.94 I was working with the sewerage, 00:18:51.95\00:18:53.92 sewerage tanks, right? Whoa! 00:18:53.93\00:18:55.42 And so in that job, 00:18:55.43\00:18:58.67 you know, involves spraying the contents with, 00:18:58.68\00:19:02.22 you know, hose like a fire hose, 00:19:02.23\00:19:04.18 really high pressure. 00:19:04.19\00:19:05.37 So you know, loosen everything up 00:19:05.38\00:19:06.93 and then jamming it with a pole to take out 00:19:06.94\00:19:09.64 all the blockages so that we can take it all out easily. 00:19:09.65\00:19:12.56 Well, for that specific site, I was the pole jammer. Yeah. 00:19:12.57\00:19:16.18 And it took a certain technique to do that. Yeah. 00:19:16.19\00:19:18.87 You have to put the pole underneath 00:19:18.88\00:19:20.84 the surface before jamming it, 00:19:20.85\00:19:22.54 so that nothing would splash out on you, right? 00:19:22.55\00:19:25.17 But I obviously had to learn that technique 00:19:25.18\00:19:27.99 well enough and I got splattered all over on my face 00:19:28.00\00:19:30.78 and in my mouth, and on my buddy 00:19:30.79\00:19:32.72 that I was working with. 00:19:32.73\00:19:34.43 By the end of the day, we were pretty filthy. 00:19:34.44\00:19:36.16 Yeah, and you know, when people are listening to this, 00:19:36.17\00:19:39.09 they're probably thinking, "Now, why are you telling 00:19:39.10\00:19:40.76 the stories of that sewerage and all that kind of stuff." 00:19:40.77\00:19:43.03 But it's really an illustration of, 00:19:43.04\00:19:45.88 you know, we think, okay, this is beautiful like, 00:19:45.89\00:19:47.83 look at the ocean and this is a beautiful world 00:19:47.84\00:19:50.49 and there are some beautiful places on this planet, 00:19:50.50\00:19:52.64 but compared to heaven-- 00:19:52.65\00:19:54.52 God wants to bring us to a higher experience 00:19:54.53\00:19:57.26 and that's why Jesus came to this planet. 00:19:57.27\00:19:59.60 And can you imagine what was going through Jesus' mind. 00:19:59.61\00:20:02.92 This is a sewer compared to heaven. 00:20:02.93\00:20:05.42 He's got all this sin splashing onto Him. 00:20:05.43\00:20:09.75 And you know, and He comes down here 00:20:09.76\00:20:12.09 to draw near to us, 00:20:12.10\00:20:13.90 so that He can draw us near to Him 00:20:13.91\00:20:16.50 and bring us up to heaven. 00:20:16.51\00:20:18.51 And that's really the Plan of Salvation. 00:20:18.52\00:20:20.95 And Jesus wants a higher experience 00:20:20.96\00:20:23.91 for every one of us, to pull us out of this planet, 00:20:23.92\00:20:27.03 to see the unseen, to see heaven 00:20:27.04\00:20:30.53 the way that Jesus sees it. 00:20:30.54\00:20:32.48 Have you ever seen a wilderness sunrise? 00:20:34.28\00:20:36.56 It seems to get more and more beautiful every second. 00:20:36.57\00:20:39.57 First, the blacken of the night fades to blue 00:20:39.58\00:20:41.99 revealing the silhouette of the surrounding mountains. 00:20:42.00\00:20:44.93 Then the first white rays of sun 00:20:44.94\00:20:47.09 tint the western mountains rosy. 00:20:47.10\00:20:49.24 The sun blazes over the ridge, lighting up the whole valley 00:20:49.25\00:20:52.06 with a flood of light and warmth. 00:20:52.07\00:20:54.45 What a start to the day! 00:20:54.46\00:20:57.04 Far too many Christians 00:20:57.05\00:20:58.25 settle for twilight glimpses of God's love, 00:20:58.26\00:21:01.05 but there's more. 00:21:01.06\00:21:02.27 Everyday we should pray, 00:21:02.28\00:21:03.52 Lord, draw me to a nearer walk with You. 00:21:03.53\00:21:06.37 So far I've only seen the first rays of His glory. 00:21:06.38\00:21:09.13 But Proverbs 4:18 says, 00:21:09.14\00:21:10.79 "That the path of the righteous 00:21:10.80\00:21:12.54 is like the light of dawn, 00:21:12.55\00:21:14.32 which shines brighter and brighter until full day. 00:21:14.33\00:21:17.20 I can't wait to see what the day will hold 00:21:17.21\00:21:20.07 I am Thine, O Lord I have heard Thy voice 00:21:33.57\00:21:37.85 And it told Thy love to me 00:21:37.86\00:21:41.74 But I long to rise in the arms of faith 00:21:41.75\00:21:45.76 And be closer drawn to Thee 00:21:45.77\00:21:49.67 Draw me nearer nearer blessed Lord 00:21:49.68\00:21:54.21 To the cross where Thou hast died 00:21:54.22\00:21:58.56 Draw me nearer, nearer nearer blessed Lord 00:21:58.57\00:22:04.52 To Thy precious bleeding side 00:22:04.53\00:22:09.69 Consecrate me now to Thy service, Lord 00:22:09.70\00:22:14.60 By the pow'r of grace divine 00:22:14.61\00:22:19.87 Let my soul look up with a steadfast hope 00:22:19.88\00:22:25.06 And my will be lost in Thine 00:22:25.07\00:22:30.21 Draw me nearer nearer blessed Lord 00:22:30.22\00:22:34.94 To the cross where Thou hast died 00:22:34.95\00:22:39.71 Draw me nearer, nearer nearer blessed Lord 00:22:39.72\00:22:46.22 To Thy precious bleeding side 00:22:46.23\00:22:51.63 Oh, the pure delight of a single hour 00:22:51.64\00:22:56.48 That before Thy throne I spend 00:22:56.49\00:23:01.21 When I kneel in prayer and with Thee, my God 00:23:01.22\00:23:06.17 I commune as friend with friend 00:23:06.18\00:23:10.84 Draw me nearer, nearer nearer blessed Lord 00:23:10.85\00:23:15.61 To Thy precious bleeding side 00:23:15.62\00:23:20.45 Draw me nearer, nearer nearer blessed Lord 00:23:20.46\00:23:27.10 To Thy precious bleeding side 00:23:27.11\00:23:33.10 This topic that we're talking about drawing nearer to God, 00:23:45.03\00:23:49.08 having a higher experience is a very serious topic. 00:23:49.09\00:23:52.53 And you really have to look at life seriously. 00:23:52.54\00:23:55.20 And sometimes, it's life changing experiences 00:23:55.21\00:23:59.09 that happen to us, 00:23:59.10\00:24:00.15 that cause us to look at life seriously. 00:24:00.16\00:24:03.04 Yeah, a few weeks ago, it was like we're just, 00:24:03.05\00:24:08.41 it was a group of students and I in a--in this minivan. 00:24:08.42\00:24:12.65 And we had gone down to Vancouver, 00:24:12.66\00:24:15.94 which is a few hours away from our school, 00:24:15.95\00:24:18.11 for music lessons. 00:24:18.12\00:24:19.86 And it was kind of late at night we had-- 00:24:19.87\00:24:23.14 though the day had drawn out and we're all exhausted. 00:24:23.15\00:24:25.35 And, so I fell asleep in the back of the car, 00:24:25.36\00:24:30.16 we're driving back, 00:24:30.17\00:24:31.23 the weather conditions were getting really bad, 00:24:31.24\00:24:34.64 and the roads up to school are pretty curvy and windy, 00:24:34.65\00:24:39.58 and like not too safe, 00:24:39.59\00:24:41.22 especially in bad weather conditions. Yeah. 00:24:41.23\00:24:43.42 And so we were driving along 00:24:43.43\00:24:45.14 and I was so tired, I fell asleep. 00:24:45.15\00:24:47.12 And I was sitting in the back of the car 00:24:47.13\00:24:51.08 and I remember I woke up and at some point in time, 00:24:51.09\00:24:55.20 and I was so hot like the car was just like burning up, 00:24:55.21\00:24:58.47 the heat was on full blast 'cause it was cold outside. 00:24:58.48\00:25:01.96 But I was just like frying. 00:25:01.97\00:25:03.16 And so I took off like my few wears of jackets 00:25:03.17\00:25:06.58 that might have had something to do with it. Yeah. 00:25:06.59\00:25:08.51 And then I put my seatbelt back on 00:25:08.52\00:25:10.97 and went back to sleep. 00:25:10.98\00:25:12.66 And the next thing I remember is that 00:25:12.67\00:25:15.91 like we were being like banged 00:25:15.92\00:25:17.50 and jolted around like I woke up and like, 00:25:17.51\00:25:20.05 I realized immediately what was happening like. 00:25:20.06\00:25:23.73 I was like, we were getting in a car accident 00:25:23.74\00:25:25.86 and I realized that. 00:25:25.87\00:25:28.11 And I sat up and I was like, "Oh, my." 00:25:28.12\00:25:31.67 And it looks like, I didn't know where we were 00:25:31.68\00:25:34.48 but I sat up 00:25:34.49\00:25:36.37 and I saw the headlights of a semi-tractor trailer 00:25:36.38\00:25:39.49 coming straight toward us 00:25:39.50\00:25:41.16 and/or so it seemed from my prospective. 00:25:41.17\00:25:43.25 And at that moment in time like, it was so scary. 00:25:43.26\00:25:49.87 That's got to be 00:25:49.88\00:25:50.97 one of the most terror-filled moments of life, 00:25:50.98\00:25:52.94 like just those few split seconds. 00:25:52.95\00:25:55.84 And I remember I thinking like, "Oh, no. 00:25:55.85\00:25:59.75 We're gonna die or and you know, 00:25:59.76\00:26:02.52 I was like, you know, this is really gonna hurt. 00:26:02.53\00:26:04.27 And but then the next thing I knew 00:26:04.28\00:26:06.93 like we were just kind of slowing down 00:26:06.94\00:26:08.49 and we stopped by the side of the road 00:26:08.50\00:26:10.58 and we checked around 00:26:10.59\00:26:12.63 to make sure that everyone was okay, 00:26:12.64\00:26:14.73 and Cyrus was there. 00:26:14.74\00:26:16.71 And we all just like, you know, I like, 00:26:16.72\00:26:20.86 "Okay, we're all okay." 00:26:20.87\00:26:22.58 Then we're like, we get out of the car 00:26:22.59\00:26:24.65 and look back and we had actually 00:26:24.66\00:26:26.63 been on a bridge. Yeah. 00:26:26.64\00:26:27.83 And we hit another car 00:26:27.84\00:26:31.09 and that it lost control in the snow 00:26:31.10\00:26:33.62 and spun into our way. 00:26:33.63\00:26:35.91 And, so we hit it and shoved it 00:26:35.92\00:26:38.99 into the path of the semi- tractor trailer that came. 00:26:39.00\00:26:42.33 And we kind of bounced into the bridge 00:26:42.34\00:26:44.64 and it shoved us into the path of the semi. 00:26:44.65\00:26:49.47 And that's when I thought that we were gonna hit it. 00:26:49.48\00:26:52.92 But somehow like, I know God was protecting us. 00:26:52.93\00:26:55.76 So we've been-- and looking back, 00:26:55.77\00:26:57.77 you know, just standing there on the bridge. 00:26:57.78\00:26:59.49 Thankfully the lady in the car was-- 00:26:59.50\00:27:01.80 The other driver in the car was okay. Yeah. 00:27:01.81\00:27:04.18 But just looking there on the bridge 00:27:04.19\00:27:07.03 and seeing like what could have happened. 00:27:07.04\00:27:09.81 And if the timing had been any different, 00:27:09.82\00:27:12.98 it just made me realize like how, 00:27:12.99\00:27:17.02 how valuable life is. Yes. 00:27:17.03\00:27:19.03 You know, and how I needed 00:27:19.04\00:27:21.40 to take life more seriously. Yes. 00:27:21.41\00:27:23.34 And how some of the like trivial things 00:27:23.35\00:27:25.31 like really don't matter. Yes. You know. Yeah. 00:27:25.32\00:27:27.69 That we get caught up in so much. 00:27:27.70\00:27:29.80 So here's a life and death situation. 00:27:29.81\00:27:32.36 And you started realizing wait. 00:27:32.37\00:27:34.96 You know, it's not just every day, 00:27:34.97\00:27:36.57 not just getting up and fooling around. 00:27:36.58\00:27:39.79 Now I need to, I mean, God saved my life 00:27:39.80\00:27:42.39 and it must be for a purpose. 00:27:42.40\00:27:44.29 And it puts your mind on a different track 00:27:44.30\00:27:46.89 and you really do want to draw nearer to Him. 00:27:46.90\00:27:50.69 God wants us to draw nearer to Him 00:27:50.70\00:27:52.66 and I'm gonna ask Carmen 00:27:52.67\00:27:53.70 to close this with a word of prayer. 00:27:53.71\00:27:56.67 Dearly, Father Lord, thank You so much 00:27:56.68\00:27:58.62 for taking an interest in sinful humanity here. 00:27:58.63\00:28:02.16 And Lord, help us to realize our great need of You 00:28:02.17\00:28:05.90 and to draw closer to You each day, 00:28:05.91\00:28:08.00 and to come to that higher experience with You. 00:28:08.01\00:28:09.92 In Jesus' name, amen. 00:28:09.93\00:28:11.13 Amen.
