Whatever the Bible reveals. 00:02:02.85\00:02:05.32 We like to stick with the Bible. 00:02:05.35\00:02:06.69 Isn't that right, John? Amen. 00:02:06.72\00:02:08.32 And so, go ahead 00:02:08.36\00:02:09.69 and give us our first question for today, what do we have? 00:02:09.72\00:02:11.89 Yeah, we got a question here, it, doesn't say-- 00:02:11.93\00:02:14.46 Oh, from Rudolf. 00:02:14.50\00:02:15.83 So he is asking a question in regard to Matthew 16:28. 00:02:15.86\00:02:21.00 Okay, Matthew 16:28. 00:02:21.04\00:02:22.40 He says that he has a conclusion 00:02:22.44\00:02:24.54 as far as what he believes about this verse, 00:02:24.57\00:02:26.41 but he is asking for our opinion. 00:02:26.44\00:02:28.34 So let's go ahead and read that. 00:02:28.38\00:02:30.45 Matthew 16:28, 00:02:30.48\00:02:33.11 and I'm gonna back up one verse. 00:02:33.15\00:02:37.45 So we'll start with verse 27 of Matthew 16. 00:02:37.49\00:02:42.26 In case, "For the Son of Man 00:02:42.29\00:02:43.73 will come in the glory of His Father with His angels, 00:02:43.76\00:02:47.63 and then He will reward each according to his works." 00:02:47.66\00:02:50.73 So when we read that, John, what are we thinking about? 00:02:50.77\00:02:52.83 When is this gonna happen? 00:02:52.87\00:02:54.20 The second coming. This is the second coming. 00:02:54.24\00:02:56.24 But notice this in verse 28, it says that, 00:02:56.27\00:02:58.04 "Assuredly, I say to you, there are some standing here 00:02:58.07\00:03:01.58 who shall not taste death 00:03:01.61\00:03:03.48 till they see the Son of Man coming in His kingdom." 00:03:03.51\00:03:06.82 And so the question here is, 00:03:06.85\00:03:08.18 John, and it's a logical question is, 00:03:08.22\00:03:09.88 if we are talking about the second coming, 00:03:09.92\00:03:12.25 how can he say that those that are with him 00:03:12.29\00:03:14.92 are gonna be alive until they experience it? 00:03:14.96\00:03:16.52 Right. 00:03:16.56\00:03:17.89 Because we're looking at 2000 years now, 00:03:17.93\00:03:20.30 that separate this statement from, of Jesus 00:03:20.33\00:03:23.70 and we still haven't seen the second coming. 00:03:23.73\00:03:25.60 That's right. So, what is he actually saying? 00:03:25.63\00:03:27.74 Well, I think if you stop there at verse 28, 00:03:27.77\00:03:30.44 you really don't understand the impact 00:03:30.47\00:03:32.37 of what Jesus is saying in verse, in that verse. 00:03:32.41\00:03:35.21 Because chapter 17 actually gives you the picture 00:03:35.24\00:03:39.05 of what Jesus is speaking about, 00:03:39.08\00:03:41.02 how the Son of Man is glorified and is seen in His kingdom. 00:03:41.05\00:03:46.92 The miniature picture of the Kingdom of God. 00:03:46.96\00:03:49.02 All right. 00:03:49.06\00:03:50.39 And so, let's read that from Matthew 17:1 00:03:50.43\00:03:53.93 down through about 6. 00:03:53.96\00:03:56.40 Okay. 00:03:56.43\00:03:57.77 "Now after six days Jesus took Peter, 00:03:57.80\00:04:00.07 James, and John his brother, 00:04:00.10\00:04:01.47 led them up on a high mountain by themselves, 00:04:01.50\00:04:05.11 and He choose, He was transfigured before them." 00:04:05.14\00:04:08.11 In other words he was transformed, 00:04:08.14\00:04:09.48 he was in appearance that they had not seen before. 00:04:09.51\00:04:12.41 He had glory, he was amazing in brightness 00:04:12.45\00:04:15.25 and in the way that he was pictured there, 00:04:15.28\00:04:17.59 "His face shone, it says like the sun, 00:04:17.62\00:04:19.52 and His clothes became white as the light. 00:04:19.55\00:04:22.09 And behold, Moses and Elijah appeared to them, 00:04:22.12\00:04:24.89 saying or talking with Him. 00:04:24.93\00:04:27.30 Then Peter answered and said to Jesus, 00:04:27.33\00:04:29.63 "Lord, is it good for us to be here, 00:04:29.66\00:04:32.03 if You wish, let us make us, 00:04:32.07\00:04:34.14 let us make here three tabernacles: 00:04:34.17\00:04:36.00 one for You, one for Moses, and one for Elijah." 00:04:36.04\00:04:40.14 While he was still speaking, 00:04:40.18\00:04:41.51 behold, a bright cloud overshadowed them, 00:04:41.54\00:04:43.68 and suddenly a voice came out of the cloud, saying, 00:04:43.71\00:04:45.98 "This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased. 00:04:46.01\00:04:48.78 Hear Him!" 00:04:48.82\00:04:50.99 So, we're seeing in this transfiguration of Jesus, 00:04:51.02\00:04:56.09 a mini picture of the second coming. 00:04:56.12\00:04:58.49 That's right. 00:04:58.53\00:04:59.86 Not only did we have Jesus who appears in glory, 00:04:59.89\00:05:03.83 not only do we have Jesus 00:05:03.87\00:05:05.47 who is acknowledged from the heavens 00:05:05.50\00:05:07.50 as being the Son of God, 00:05:07.54\00:05:10.41 we also see that there is Moses and Elijah. 00:05:10.44\00:05:13.78 And, I know you have some things 00:05:13.81\00:05:15.14 you want to add to this piece too, 00:05:15.18\00:05:16.51 but what does Moses and Elijah? 00:05:16.54\00:05:18.91 What does that represent? 00:05:18.95\00:05:20.28 Why did Moses and Elijah appear there talking to Jesus? 00:05:20.32\00:05:23.42 Because, there is, there is a reason for that. 00:05:23.45\00:05:25.55 Well, in the Second Coming of Jesus, 00:05:25.59\00:05:29.26 there will be two classes that are represented. 00:05:29.29\00:05:32.29 You know, Thessalonians says, 00:05:32.33\00:05:33.86 "For the Lord Himself shall descend from heaven 00:05:33.90\00:05:36.30 with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, 00:05:36.33\00:05:37.97 through trumpet call of God. 00:05:38.00\00:05:40.14 And the dead in Christ will rise first." 00:05:40.17\00:05:42.80 So, Moses represents those who died and rose. 00:05:42.84\00:05:47.84 Elijah represents those who are alive and remain. 00:05:47.88\00:05:52.25 So this, this is a mini representation, 00:05:52.28\00:05:54.35 Jesus has transfigured, notice the brightness, 00:05:54.38\00:05:57.35 He is like the sun as white as the light, 00:05:57.39\00:06:01.42 all this represents His descended glory. 00:06:01.46\00:06:04.83 Remember, He had not been crucified yet. 00:06:04.86\00:06:07.20 He had not been risen yet. 00:06:07.23\00:06:08.90 He had not made the statement, 00:06:08.93\00:06:10.63 "All authority or all power is given unto me" yet. 00:06:10.67\00:06:14.07 So He is still in this form as humanity here. 00:06:14.10\00:06:16.24 That's right. 00:06:16.27\00:06:17.61 But so, He was giving Peter, James, and John, His disciples, 00:06:17.64\00:06:20.98 a miniature representation of the Second Coming. 00:06:21.01\00:06:23.78 Christ transfigured before them, 00:06:23.81\00:06:26.05 glorified before them, and the resurrected dead, 00:06:26.08\00:06:30.02 represent it through Moses. 00:06:30.05\00:06:31.75 And those who never see death represented through Elijah. 00:06:31.79\00:06:34.26 That's really what they were saying right there. 00:06:34.29\00:06:36.49 Now, there are some that believe 00:06:36.52\00:06:38.69 and if they use this text to say, 00:06:38.73\00:06:40.46 that the kingdom of God has already come. 00:06:40.50\00:06:42.53 The Jesus has already had his appearance 00:06:42.56\00:06:45.30 His Second Coming that He is here in spirit. 00:06:45.33\00:06:47.84 And so they don't see 00:06:47.87\00:06:49.20 an imminent literal Second Coming of Jesus. 00:06:49.24\00:06:52.04 And so, you know in response to that 00:06:52.07\00:06:54.34 I would say you have to read the entire text 00:06:54.38\00:06:56.31 to really understand the impact of what Jesus is saying there, 00:06:56.34\00:06:59.45 because if you just take for view 00:06:59.48\00:07:01.08 of that this is referring to a time 00:07:01.12\00:07:03.89 where Jesus has already come now, 00:07:03.92\00:07:05.42 His kingdom is represented, He is here 00:07:05.45\00:07:07.79 and this is all we had to look forward to, 00:07:07.82\00:07:09.69 you miss all of the other text, 00:07:09.72\00:07:11.09 you have to basically ignore many scriptures 00:07:11.13\00:07:13.16 in regard to the Second Coming 00:07:13.19\00:07:14.53 and what will take place at that time. 00:07:14.56\00:07:17.57 And maybe it would be good to even read just one passage 00:07:17.60\00:07:21.07 from the Second Coming and I would go to 2 Peter 3. 00:07:21.10\00:07:27.28 Because I think that is one of the clearest pictures 00:07:27.31\00:07:30.35 provided by the-- 00:07:30.38\00:07:33.18 by one of the apostles thereof the Second Coming 00:07:33.21\00:07:35.78 and what will happen at that time. 00:07:35.82\00:07:37.45 All right, 2 Peter 3. 00:07:37.49\00:07:39.29 Chapter 3, and we'll look at verse. 00:07:39.32\00:07:45.86 Let's see verse 10. All right. 00:07:45.89\00:07:51.30 "But the day of the Lord 00:07:51.33\00:07:53.13 will come as a thief in the night, 00:07:53.17\00:07:55.64 in which the heavens will pass away--" 00:07:55.67\00:07:57.44 Okay, so let's start with that first part of the sentence, 00:07:57.47\00:07:59.87 will come as a thief in the night. 00:07:59.91\00:08:01.24 They say, oh, see, he is coming as a thief 00:08:01.28\00:08:03.51 were you don't really know He is there, 00:08:03.55\00:08:04.88 but He is here, His Kingdom has come. 00:08:04.91\00:08:07.08 But we got to read on, 00:08:07.12\00:08:08.45 because this verse qualifies what thief means? 00:08:08.48\00:08:11.02 Okay. 00:08:11.05\00:08:12.39 It says, "In which the heavens will pass away 00:08:12.42\00:08:16.26 with a great noise, 00:08:16.29\00:08:17.63 and the elements will melt with fervent heat, 00:08:17.66\00:08:20.30 both the earth and the works that are in it will be--" 00:08:20.33\00:08:22.63 What? Burned up. 00:08:22.66\00:08:24.27 "Burned up. 00:08:24.30\00:08:25.63 Therefore, since all these things will be dissolved, 00:08:25.67\00:08:27.64 what manner of persons ought you to be in holy conduct 00:08:27.67\00:08:30.31 and godliness, looking for and--" 00:08:30.34\00:08:32.34 Doing what? Hastening. 00:08:32.37\00:08:33.84 "Hastening the coming of the day of God." 00:08:33.88\00:08:37.05 So, did Peter see Christ having already come a second time? 00:08:37.08\00:08:41.48 Or is he looking forward to a Second Coming? 00:08:41.52\00:08:43.59 He is looking forward to a Second Coming. 00:08:43.62\00:08:45.25 Yeah, absolutely, clear. 00:08:45.29\00:08:47.29 Looking forward to the coming of day of God, 00:08:47.32\00:08:49.19 "Because of which the heavens will be dissolved, 00:08:49.22\00:08:51.09 being on fire, and the elements will melt 00:08:51.13\00:08:52.46 with fervent heat?" 00:08:52.49\00:08:53.83 So clearly, the Second Coming is a literal return of Jesus 00:08:53.86\00:08:58.73 from the clouds, 00:08:58.77\00:09:00.37 it is symbolized by the transfiguration. 00:09:00.40\00:09:04.24 But it's an event that everyone will see 00:09:04.27\00:09:06.27 and that the earth will be thrown into incredible disaster 00:09:06.31\00:09:10.25 and other things were Christ then as we-- 00:09:10.28\00:09:12.41 I've already read in 1 Thessalonians 4, 00:09:12.45\00:09:14.92 will catch up those that are risen, 00:09:14.95\00:09:17.79 represented by Moses and those who are alive 00:09:17.82\00:09:19.52 and remain represented by Elijah. 00:09:19.55\00:09:21.49 And I'm glad that you chose Peter, 00:09:21.52\00:09:23.22 because when we mention, when you turn to 2 Peter 00:09:23.26\00:09:26.80 maybe our viewers or listeners didn't get the connection. 00:09:26.83\00:09:30.23 Now, Peter was the one that was one of the disciples there, 00:09:30.27\00:09:33.13 so if this was the Second Coming, 00:09:33.17\00:09:35.54 then Peter wouldn't say we're looking forward to it still. 00:09:35.57\00:09:38.81 That's a wonderful connection there. 00:09:38.84\00:09:40.58 Peter was a part of those who witnessed 00:09:40.61\00:09:43.01 with James, and John. 00:09:43.04\00:09:44.71 And the Lord gave him and said when I-- 00:09:44.75\00:09:47.45 In other words, "When I return this is how it's gonna be." 00:09:47.48\00:09:50.75 Right. That's pretty much clear. 00:09:50.79\00:09:52.29 Thank you, John. 00:09:52.32\00:09:54.16 Now, I have one here, excuse me for clearing my throat. 00:09:54.19\00:09:56.66 I have one here from a gentlemen, 00:09:56.69\00:09:59.19 from the Netherlands. 00:09:59.23\00:10:01.86 His name is Ernst 00:10:01.90\00:10:03.67 and the last name I don't want to try, 00:10:03.70\00:10:06.63 because I know that it's a Netherland, 00:10:06.67\00:10:09.20 and I will neither do it any, any kind of justice. 00:10:09.24\00:10:14.88 But the question is very, very vitally important in light off. 00:10:14.91\00:10:18.51 Thank you so much for submitting the question. 00:10:18.55\00:10:20.28 Here it is. 00:10:20.32\00:10:21.85 Very short, ''Why still keep the Sabbath? 00:10:21.88\00:10:25.79 I think every chosen day is a good special day 00:10:25.82\00:10:31.79 to praise the Lord." 00:10:31.83\00:10:34.10 The first part of the question, okay we'll answer that. 00:10:34.13\00:10:36.23 The second part of the question is wonderful. 00:10:36.26\00:10:38.60 I don't have a problem with the second part. 00:10:38.63\00:10:40.37 ''Everyday is a good day to praise the Lord." 00:10:40.40\00:10:45.51 The one thing I want to qualify in that statement though. 00:10:45.54\00:10:48.98 The Lord didn't bless everyday. 00:10:49.01\00:10:51.81 You know, John, one of the challenges 00:10:51.85\00:10:53.28 that many Christians have is this idea 00:10:53.31\00:10:55.88 that they could pick a day, well, you know, 00:10:55.92\00:10:57.69 you could do, you could pick any day you want. 00:10:57.72\00:11:00.06 But, the Lord only blessed one day. 00:11:00.09\00:11:02.66 So let's go back to Genesis, and by the way 00:11:02.69\00:11:04.46 let me just add this, 00:11:04.49\00:11:05.83 I'm gonna answer the question very clearly, 00:11:05.86\00:11:07.20 very succinctly from God's word. 00:11:07.23\00:11:09.66 But we need to see where the Sabbath came from? 00:11:09.70\00:11:12.77 One of the reasons, 00:11:12.80\00:11:14.14 one of the questions I have asked incessantly 00:11:14.17\00:11:15.84 and I have not received a single answer yet. 00:11:15.87\00:11:18.37 If you have an answer, send it to this program, 00:11:18.41\00:11:20.54 housecalls@3abn.org. 00:11:20.58\00:11:24.55 The question is, 00:11:24.58\00:11:25.91 and no one can give me the answer. 00:11:25.95\00:11:27.42 Why does the Sabbath need to be done away with? 00:11:27.45\00:11:32.35 And he put here, Colossians 2:16, 00:11:32.39\00:11:35.56 and evidently he is intimating that it was a shadow. 00:11:35.59\00:11:39.29 So we're gonna talk about the shadow Sabbath 00:11:39.33\00:11:41.66 and then, but let's go to Genesis first. 00:11:41.70\00:11:43.73 Genesis 2: 1-3, 00:11:43.77\00:11:45.73 and I'll begin with a statement, 00:11:45.77\00:11:47.24 the Sabbath, the Seventh-day from sunset Friday 00:11:47.27\00:11:51.04 to sunset Saturday, the last day of the week. 00:11:51.07\00:11:55.04 And I say that, John, in context to the fact 00:11:55.08\00:11:56.95 that I was recently in the country of Sri Lanka, 00:11:56.98\00:12:00.62 and I also know this is true in Europe, 00:12:00.65\00:12:02.68 that many of the governments are changing the day 00:12:02.72\00:12:06.02 for Sunday, 00:12:06.05\00:12:07.39 changing the calendar for Sunday 00:12:07.42\00:12:09.52 to be reflected as the seventh-day. 00:12:09.56\00:12:12.36 That's not scriptural, and that is not historical, 00:12:12.39\00:12:15.40 and that is not biblical, okay, 00:12:15.43\00:12:17.97 because here's where they have the issue. 00:12:18.00\00:12:19.97 When they celebrate the resurrection 00:12:20.00\00:12:22.10 which was the first day of the week, 00:12:22.14\00:12:23.81 and look at the calendar 00:12:23.84\00:12:25.17 where Sunday is the seventh day of the week, 00:12:25.21\00:12:26.81 they're off, they're off kilter, it's a hardest, 00:12:26.84\00:12:29.14 you can't reconcile the resurrection day 00:12:29.18\00:12:31.41 being the first day, 00:12:31.45\00:12:32.78 and the calendar being the seventh day, 00:12:32.81\00:12:34.52 it doesn't match. 00:12:34.55\00:12:35.88 So don't get hoodwinked by, what people are manipulating. 00:12:35.92\00:12:39.09 There is a Satanic plot behind that. 00:12:39.12\00:12:42.02 But let's look at the Sabbath. 00:12:42.06\00:12:43.79 And the Sabbath was created in a world without sin, 00:12:43.83\00:12:47.33 so as we read this, 00:12:47.36\00:12:49.63 what I want you to think about is, 00:12:49.66\00:12:51.40 if the world was never affected by sin, 00:12:51.43\00:12:56.50 would there ever be any issue over the Sabbath 00:12:56.54\00:12:58.41 and obviously the answer is no. 00:12:58.44\00:13:01.01 Genesis 2:1-3, 00:13:01.04\00:13:04.61 "Thus the heavens and the earth, 00:13:04.65\00:13:07.05 and all the host of them, were finished. 00:13:07.08\00:13:10.42 And on the seventh day God ended His work 00:13:10.45\00:13:14.26 which He had done, 00:13:14.29\00:13:15.76 and He rested on the seventh day 00:13:15.79\00:13:18.36 from all His work which He had done. 00:13:18.39\00:13:21.90 Then God blessed the seventh day." 00:13:21.93\00:13:25.30 He didn't blessed any day, He blessed the seventh day, 00:13:25.33\00:13:29.50 He didn't bless a seventh day, 00:13:29.54\00:13:32.01 He blessed the seventh day, and sanctified it, 00:13:32.04\00:13:36.68 He set it aside, He made it Holy, 00:13:36.71\00:13:39.38 He blessed it, He rested on it, 00:13:39.41\00:13:41.72 He blessed it, He sanctified it, 00:13:41.75\00:13:44.02 He set is aside. 00:13:44.05\00:13:45.39 And when something is sanctified get this, 00:13:45.42\00:13:47.52 it's sanctified, anything that's sanctified, 00:13:47.56\00:13:49.36 is set aside for a holy use, He sanctified it 00:13:49.39\00:13:53.36 and here is the reason, 00:13:53.40\00:13:54.73 "Because in it He rested from all His work 00:13:54.76\00:13:58.43 which God had created and made." 00:13:58.47\00:14:00.74 So we have to ask the question, 00:14:00.77\00:14:04.07 and I would love you to give me the answer 00:14:04.11\00:14:05.91 and I think that this person is intimating 00:14:05.94\00:14:07.48 that it's a shadow. 00:14:07.51\00:14:08.84 We're gonna go and see, 00:14:08.88\00:14:10.21 but let me just make these points. 00:14:10.25\00:14:11.58 First of all, before sin ever entered the world, 00:14:11.61\00:14:14.02 God blessed the seventh day. 00:14:14.05\00:14:16.38 If sin never entered the world, 00:14:16.42\00:14:18.12 there would be no controversy over the seventh day. 00:14:18.15\00:14:20.79 I also want to add this. 00:14:20.82\00:14:22.42 Everything that God blessed in the Garden of Eden 00:14:22.46\00:14:24.49 has been attacked by Satan. 00:14:24.53\00:14:25.86 He blessed the Sabbath, 00:14:25.89\00:14:27.43 it's been substituted by the first day of the week. 00:14:27.46\00:14:30.43 He blessed the family, 00:14:30.47\00:14:32.20 the marriage between the woman and the man. 00:14:32.23\00:14:34.64 Now Satan has distorted that by having men marry men, 00:14:34.67\00:14:37.81 and women marrying women. 00:14:37.84\00:14:39.37 You got to understand that any angst or any anger 00:14:39.41\00:14:42.88 about the seventh day being blessed 00:14:42.91\00:14:44.71 is a set of satanic origin. 00:14:44.75\00:14:47.48 He is the one that doesn't want men to worship God. 00:14:47.52\00:14:50.05 In Isaiah 14, Satan, said, "I will be like the most high." 00:14:50.09\00:14:53.36 So he set up his own day, the day of the sun 00:14:53.39\00:14:56.26 which was paganisticly they worshipped 00:14:56.29\00:14:58.89 and honored the physical sun, 00:14:58.93\00:15:01.06 so he set up the sun-day the first day of the week 00:15:01.10\00:15:04.23 which is always honored away from the day that God blessed. 00:15:04.27\00:15:08.44 But let's go now to Colossians. 00:15:08.47\00:15:10.77 I want you to see this text, because this is the verse 00:15:10.81\00:15:12.67 that this young man use Colossians 2: 16, 00:15:12.71\00:15:15.28 you want to read that-- 00:15:15.31\00:15:16.64 As you're going there, let me just say this, 00:15:16.68\00:15:18.35 I think that some people have the misunderstanding that, 00:15:18.38\00:15:22.55 because we are to worship God on everyday, true? 00:15:22.58\00:15:26.79 Right. 00:15:26.82\00:15:28.29 That somehow, I'm a minister 00:15:28.32\00:15:31.86 of the Seventh-day Adventist church, 00:15:31.89\00:15:33.23 somehow I would be advocating 00:15:33.26\00:15:34.60 that we only do that on the seventh day 00:15:34.63\00:15:36.53 and we've never said that. 00:15:36.56\00:15:37.90 Yeah, that's always the misunderstanding. 00:15:37.93\00:15:39.33 Yeah, the issue with regard to Sabbath versus Sunday 00:15:39.37\00:15:42.70 is not about-- 00:15:42.74\00:15:44.67 Worshiping. Just worshiping. 00:15:44.71\00:15:46.47 Although worship is at the heart of it, 00:15:46.51\00:15:48.21 the worship of the true creator. 00:15:48.24\00:15:49.84 Right. 00:15:49.88\00:15:51.21 But we can worship and should worship God every day. 00:15:51.25\00:15:53.82 But God is in response to our worship. 00:15:53.85\00:15:56.32 Okay, so we worship, we give ourselves to Him, 00:15:56.35\00:15:59.25 in response He says, "Here is my day." 00:15:59.29\00:16:01.86 That's right. 00:16:01.89\00:16:03.22 "Honor me as the creator, as your creator 00:16:03.26\00:16:05.79 and spend time with me on this day 00:16:05.83\00:16:07.26 because in this day I have sanctified 00:16:07.30\00:16:09.13 and blessed and set apart it for our relationship." 00:16:09.16\00:16:13.13 That's right. 00:16:13.17\00:16:14.50 So, it's more about the relationship with God, 00:16:14.54\00:16:17.41 our relationship and advancing and furthering that, 00:16:17.44\00:16:20.48 and as an extension of our worship of Him every day, 00:16:20.51\00:16:24.15 that we need Him on the Sabbath and spend time with Him. 00:16:24.18\00:16:27.78 He set that day apart for a specific purpose 00:16:27.82\00:16:30.59 of regenerating us, making us holy, 00:16:30.62\00:16:33.82 putting His spirit within us, 00:16:33.86\00:16:35.59 and allowing us to grow in our time 00:16:35.62\00:16:38.26 in our relationship with Him, so. 00:16:38.29\00:16:40.53 Anyway, I just want to say that, 00:16:40.56\00:16:41.90 because we never advocated 00:16:41.93\00:16:44.00 that worship should just be that day. 00:16:44.03\00:16:45.80 And neither did we advocate 00:16:45.83\00:16:47.40 that you only praise the Lord on one day, 00:16:47.44\00:16:49.64 as this young man put. 00:16:49.67\00:16:51.17 I think that everyday is a good day, 00:16:51.21\00:16:54.28 good special day to praise the Lord. 00:16:54.31\00:16:56.18 If you want to make everyday special that's fine, 00:16:56.21\00:16:58.11 you could say today is the special day to me, 00:16:58.15\00:17:00.18 but it's not the Sabbath, it's not blessed by God. 00:17:00.22\00:17:03.18 You could make a day special in your own mind, 00:17:03.22\00:17:05.65 but it doesn't replace the blessing 00:17:05.69\00:17:07.52 that God put on only one day. 00:17:07.56\00:17:09.86 You know, if you decided to, if you decide 00:17:09.89\00:17:11.69 and I just give you this example, 00:17:11.73\00:17:13.06 if you bought a calendar had seven spaces Monday-- 00:17:13.09\00:17:16.13 Sunday to Saturday, 00:17:16.16\00:17:18.00 and you decided you want to color them all green, 00:17:18.03\00:17:20.64 you could do that. 00:17:20.67\00:17:22.00 That means there is no difference 00:17:22.04\00:17:23.37 between Sunday to Saturday, they're all green squares. 00:17:23.41\00:17:26.14 But if you want to look at the way God did it, 00:17:26.17\00:17:28.54 he'll have, these will be green squares 00:17:28.58\00:17:30.81 and the last one will be a gold square, 00:17:30.85\00:17:32.71 that's the only one He blessed. 00:17:32.75\00:17:34.28 He didn't blessed any other day and for the life of me, 00:17:34.32\00:17:37.62 it amazes me that this topic 00:17:37.65\00:17:40.36 brings about the deepest seed of anger in many Christians. 00:17:40.39\00:17:44.19 They come up with this, 00:17:44.23\00:17:45.56 but why do we have to keep the Sabbath? 00:17:45.59\00:17:47.26 That's it, that's not for me, well, that was done away, 00:17:47.30\00:17:50.37 but they come up with all these answers 00:17:50.40\00:17:51.73 that have no scriptural support whatsoever, none at all. 00:17:51.77\00:17:57.24 And I'm gonna give you also 00:17:57.27\00:17:58.61 an additional website in a moment, 00:17:58.64\00:17:59.97 but let's go ahead and look. 00:18:00.01\00:18:01.34 And by the way, an answer to the question, 00:18:01.38\00:18:03.71 you're already in Colossians, 00:18:03.75\00:18:05.08 but I want to throw another text in here really quickly, 00:18:05.11\00:18:06.65 because has John opened the door by saying 00:18:06.68\00:18:10.32 it's about the relationship 00:18:10.35\00:18:11.69 and it is about the relationship. 00:18:11.72\00:18:13.66 Why keep the Sabbath? 00:18:13.69\00:18:15.09 Well, first of all, in Exodus 20:10. 00:18:15.12\00:18:19.63 First of all, the one reason why we keep the Sabbath, 00:18:19.66\00:18:22.53 the Lord says remember, what did He say, John? 00:18:22.56\00:18:24.60 Remember. 00:18:24.63\00:18:25.97 So if He didn't want us to keep it, 00:18:26.00\00:18:27.34 He wouldn't say remember, 00:18:27.37\00:18:28.70 "Remember the Sabbath day to keep it Holy." 00:18:28.74\00:18:34.08 For the life of me, I don't understand 00:18:34.11\00:18:37.21 why there is such anger to this day, except to say 00:18:37.25\00:18:40.62 that it's satanically motivated for people 00:18:40.65\00:18:43.52 to be taught by clergy that it's just for the Jews. 00:18:43.55\00:18:47.39 When the Lord rested and blessed the day, 00:18:47.42\00:18:49.52 there was not a Jew for the next almost 2000 years. 00:18:49.56\00:18:53.50 Because Abraham was first to be born 00:18:53.53\00:18:57.83 and then his seed, his offspring, his son Jacob, 00:18:57.87\00:19:03.27 12 sons they became the father of this Jewish nation 00:19:03.30\00:19:06.81 or the nation of Israel. 00:19:06.84\00:19:08.38 So there were no Jews in the Garden of Eden 00:19:08.41\00:19:10.01 when the day was blessed. 00:19:10.05\00:19:11.38 Get that, lock that in, there were no Jews, 00:19:11.41\00:19:13.85 just a man, a woman and God, and a whole bunch of animals, 00:19:13.88\00:19:17.35 and trees and vegetables and fruits, 00:19:17.39\00:19:19.19 and all the other good stuff. 00:19:19.22\00:19:20.79 So, there was nothing when God blessed it, 00:19:20.82\00:19:22.56 nobody there to differentiate 00:19:22.59\00:19:24.09 between one nation or the other, 00:19:24.13\00:19:25.73 just simply humanity. 00:19:25.76\00:19:27.10 So Exodus 20:8, 00:19:27.13\00:19:29.16 "Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy. 00:19:29.20\00:19:31.43 Then verse 9, "Six days you shall labor 00:19:31.47\00:19:33.90 and do all your work." 00:19:33.94\00:19:35.27 Now, here is the problem, 00:19:35.30\00:19:36.64 if you make everyday the Sabbath 00:19:36.67\00:19:38.01 or everyday a special day you'll never work, 00:19:38.04\00:19:40.01 you'll be considered lazy. 00:19:40.04\00:19:42.14 Even Jesus rose on the first day of the week, 00:19:42.18\00:19:44.68 see He didn't work on the Sabbath, 00:19:44.71\00:19:46.65 He was in the tomb on the Sabbath. 00:19:46.68\00:19:48.52 Even those that advocate worship for Sunday only, 00:19:48.55\00:19:52.65 they do, don't, you know-- 00:19:52.69\00:19:55.19 don't make any bones about it, 00:19:55.22\00:19:56.56 that there are many who were trying to get back to loss 00:19:56.59\00:19:59.76 that restrict marketing another things 00:19:59.79\00:20:02.13 from happening on Sunday. 00:20:02.16\00:20:04.00 That's where they want to go with that, 00:20:04.03\00:20:05.60 but I forgot where I was going with this, 00:20:05.63\00:20:08.47 but anyway, but when you do that, 00:20:08.50\00:20:12.01 you are providing some level of restriction around that day. 00:20:12.04\00:20:16.71 And so, God, it comes from, 00:20:16.75\00:20:18.61 it does stem from the scriptures 00:20:18.65\00:20:20.02 that God does has some restrictions around that day, 00:20:20.05\00:20:22.25 but it's one day, he said, 00:20:22.28\00:20:23.62 "This is day between me and you, 00:20:23.65\00:20:25.65 the day that I set apart." 00:20:25.69\00:20:28.06 And, so verse 10 of Exodus 20, 00:20:28.09\00:20:30.53 "But the seventh day 00:20:30.56\00:20:32.06 is the Sabbath of the Lord your God." 00:20:32.09\00:20:34.50 Whose? Your God. 00:20:34.53\00:20:36.63 Whose Sabbath? Is the Sabbath of the Lord. 00:20:36.67\00:20:40.17 It's God's Sabbath, it's not mine. 00:20:40.20\00:20:42.14 And here is the question you to have ask yourself Ernst 00:20:42.17\00:20:44.07 is, who is your God? 00:20:44.11\00:20:45.71 If you say God, the creator is your God, 00:20:45.74\00:20:48.54 He has already picked the day. 00:20:48.58\00:20:49.91 He didn't say Ernst, here, just choose whatever day you want. 00:20:49.94\00:20:53.01 He says, "Ernst, 00:20:53.05\00:20:54.38 the seventh day is the Sabbath of the Lord, your God." 00:20:54.42\00:20:58.99 So, you can pick whatever day you want, 00:20:59.02\00:21:00.69 if He is not your God, 00:21:00.72\00:21:02.06 you could pick any day you want. 00:21:02.09\00:21:03.43 Because Bible says, 00:21:03.46\00:21:04.79 "Thou shalt have no other gods before me." 00:21:04.83\00:21:06.16 Those who have other gods, pick whatever day they want, 00:21:06.19\00:21:09.16 but that day is not connected to the God of creation. 00:21:09.20\00:21:13.13 In fact, there was a group 00:21:13.17\00:21:15.60 that pick their day for their god 00:21:15.64\00:21:17.54 which is Sun God-- 00:21:17.57\00:21:19.14 Exactly. Exactly. And they pick Sunday. 00:21:19.17\00:21:21.71 That's exactly what they did. But now let me go Ezekiel 20. 00:21:21.74\00:21:26.11 This is a topic in and of itself, John, 00:21:26.15\00:21:27.68 so we're gonna, we might just take 00:21:27.72\00:21:29.05 a little bit more time on this. 00:21:29.08\00:21:30.42 Read Ezekiel 20, because we need to know why? 00:21:30.45\00:21:33.36 Ezekiel 20:12, because we need to know why? 00:21:33.39\00:21:39.53 Why the Sabbath? 00:21:39.56\00:21:41.06 And I want you to notice particularly, the Colossians, 00:21:41.10\00:21:45.80 we're gonna read Colossians in just a moment 00:21:45.83\00:21:47.77 and I want you to see the language, 00:21:47.80\00:21:49.30 there is a difference in language. 00:21:49.34\00:21:50.67 Yeah. Okay. 00:21:50.71\00:21:52.14 Ezekiel 20:12. Why keep the Sabbath? 00:21:52.17\00:21:55.91 This is moreover, this is God speaking, 00:21:55.94\00:21:57.88 "Moreover, I also gave them My Sabbaths, 00:21:57.91\00:22:01.12 to be a sign between Me between them and Me, 00:22:01.15\00:22:04.45 that they might know that I am the Lord 00:22:04.49\00:22:06.32 who sanctifies them." 00:22:06.35\00:22:07.72 Okay, so her we are. 00:22:07.76\00:22:10.63 The Sabbath is the sign of sanctification, 00:22:10.66\00:22:12.89 it's a sign of relationship. 00:22:12.93\00:22:15.16 If you worship the God that created the world, 00:22:15.20\00:22:19.43 He said, "The only way I know that you acknowledge me 00:22:19.47\00:22:22.60 as your creator is you honor the day that I established." 00:22:22.64\00:22:26.78 This is the day, that's the spiritual sign 00:22:26.81\00:22:30.05 between you and the God of creation. 00:22:30.08\00:22:33.38 And so, why keep it? It's a sign. 00:22:33.42\00:22:36.85 You could do whatever you want in any other day of the week, 00:22:36.89\00:22:39.29 but it doesn't connect you to that God. 00:22:39.32\00:22:41.26 It's like, John, if I had seven women in a room 00:22:41.29\00:22:45.16 and each one of these women is married. 00:22:45.19\00:22:48.50 And I say, well, I'm the husband of, I have a wife, 00:22:48.53\00:22:52.33 do I walk up and pick any one of the wives, 00:22:52.37\00:22:54.34 any one of the women? 00:22:54.37\00:22:55.70 No, because only one has been sanctified for me, Angela. 00:22:55.74\00:23:00.91 Only one she has the same day May 22nd 1983. 00:23:00.94\00:23:06.31 All the other women, they belong to somebody else, 00:23:06.35\00:23:08.65 although they are married. 00:23:08.68\00:23:10.02 So in the very same sense 00:23:10.05\00:23:11.39 that a wife is sanctified to a husband, 00:23:11.42\00:23:13.42 the church is sanctified to God, 00:23:13.46\00:23:15.42 and the sign of that sanctification is the Sabbath. 00:23:15.46\00:23:19.76 Now here's what we were not saying, 00:23:19.79\00:23:21.20 we are not saying that 00:23:21.23\00:23:22.56 because you attend Sabbath services on Sunday-- 00:23:22.60\00:23:26.00 Wait, don't say that, don't say Sabbath services on Sunday. 00:23:26.03\00:23:29.17 Yeah, I misspoke, but you understand what I'm saying. 00:23:29.20\00:23:31.84 Those who, they call it the Sabbath too, John. 00:23:31.87\00:23:33.61 Yeah, yeah. 00:23:33.64\00:23:34.98 Because they attend services, they go to church on Sunday-- 00:23:35.01\00:23:36.78 Right. 00:23:36.81\00:23:38.15 That somehow they don't have a relationship with Jesus. 00:23:38.18\00:23:40.18 This doesn't mean that they're not Christian, 00:23:40.22\00:23:42.62 they don't have a relationship with Jesus. 00:23:42.65\00:23:44.45 What we're saying is that the Bible has truths 00:23:44.49\00:23:46.79 that go very deep at times and there they cut. 00:23:46.82\00:23:50.09 And so when we find these truths out, 00:23:50.13\00:23:51.83 when we discover a deeper truth 00:23:51.86\00:23:53.29 that God wants us to follow, to obey in. 00:23:53.33\00:23:58.17 That we follow that, 00:23:58.20\00:23:59.53 that if we're His people, we will hear His voice 00:23:59.57\00:24:01.27 and we will follow Him all the way through, 00:24:01.30\00:24:02.97 and so, this really is about an issue 00:24:03.00\00:24:05.31 that is coming up in the last days. 00:24:05.34\00:24:07.41 Is an issue that will grow more and more, 00:24:07.44\00:24:11.51 as a discussion, as I won't say debate, 00:24:11.55\00:24:14.48 because we don't need to be debating, 00:24:14.52\00:24:15.85 but a discussion in regard to what is truth. 00:24:15.88\00:24:18.79 And God is drawing people into this truth 00:24:18.82\00:24:21.72 and helping them understand that, 00:24:21.76\00:24:23.49 and I like the verse you chose from Ezekiel, 00:24:23.53\00:24:25.59 that I only sanctified a day, I want to sanctify you. 00:24:25.63\00:24:28.30 Right. 00:24:28.33\00:24:29.66 And on this day, I've set aside 00:24:29.70\00:24:31.63 so that you can join with me in that work 00:24:31.67\00:24:33.70 and prepare you for the return of my son. 00:24:33.74\00:24:36.27 That's right. 00:24:36.30\00:24:37.84 Going right back to that very point sanctification, 00:24:37.87\00:24:40.74 the Sabbath is the sign of sanctification. 00:24:40.78\00:24:42.91 Thank you for the reiterated point, John, 00:24:42.94\00:24:44.85 that people that honor, 00:24:44.88\00:24:46.21 people that go to church on other days of the week 00:24:46.25\00:24:48.65 and that don't know, 00:24:48.68\00:24:51.19 there's a difference all together, 00:24:51.22\00:24:52.55 when you don't know, but when you do know and say, 00:24:52.59\00:24:55.52 ''You know, I don't want what God has established, 00:24:55.56\00:24:57.43 I'm gonna just pick my own day." 00:24:57.46\00:24:59.39 It's like walk out the room 00:24:59.43\00:25:00.76 and just pick any one of seven women 00:25:00.80\00:25:02.13 and say well, you're my wife. 00:25:02.16\00:25:03.77 Well, how has that happen? 00:25:03.80\00:25:05.13 Did you get join together in a sanctifying relationship? 00:25:05.17\00:25:08.00 No, well then, she's not your wife. 00:25:08.04\00:25:09.97 So this is really about relationship, 00:25:10.01\00:25:11.97 but now I want to go to Colossians 2:16, 00:25:12.01\00:25:14.38 because we have to give this the due attention 00:25:14.41\00:25:17.71 that this young man wants. 00:25:17.75\00:25:19.15 Colossians 2, 00:25:19.18\00:25:20.65 but we're not gonna do just verse 16, 00:25:20.68\00:25:22.42 lot of times you get-- 00:25:22.45\00:25:23.79 No, we have to read the passage. 00:25:23.82\00:25:25.15 Right, you got to get the whole part of it. 00:25:25.19\00:25:26.59 Okay, here it is. 00:25:26.62\00:25:29.19 And let's start with the verse, 00:25:29.22\00:25:31.39 well, this is speaking about Jesus freeing men, 00:25:31.43\00:25:33.90 but I want to start with verse 14. 00:25:33.93\00:25:36.97 "Having wiped out the handwriting of requirements 00:25:37.00\00:25:41.94 that was against us, which was contrary to us. 00:25:41.97\00:25:46.78 And He has taken it out of the way, 00:25:46.81\00:25:48.91 having nailed it to the cross." 00:25:48.94\00:25:50.91 First of all what did he get rid of, 00:25:50.95\00:25:52.55 the handwriting of requirements. 00:25:52.58\00:25:55.98 Ephesians 2 says, "The handwriting of ordinances. 00:25:56.02\00:25:58.89 Having disarmed, verse 15, principalities and powers, 00:25:58.92\00:26:02.46 He made a public spectacle of them, 00:26:02.49\00:26:04.76 triumphing over them in it. 00:26:04.79\00:26:07.40 Therefore let no one judge you in food or in drink, 00:26:07.43\00:26:13.40 or regarding a festival or a new moon or Sabbaths, 00:26:13.44\00:26:18.27 or Sabbath days. 00:26:18.31\00:26:20.78 When you think about that or Sabbaths, 00:26:20.81\00:26:23.08 which are a shadow of things to come, 00:26:23.11\00:26:25.91 but the substance is of Christ." 00:26:25.95\00:26:28.52 Okay, now let's find out. 00:26:28.55\00:26:31.09 The word shadow here in this verse, 00:26:31.12\00:26:32.65 if you notice, it's in lower case 00:26:32.69\00:26:35.32 as compared to the Sabbath in uppercase 00:26:35.36\00:26:38.29 because there were ceremonies-- 00:26:38.33\00:26:40.10 Quickly now, let's go to the Book of Leviticus 23. 00:26:40.13\00:26:45.00 Leviticus 23, and what I want to do very quickly is show you 00:26:45.03\00:26:49.00 some of these Sabbaths, Leviticus 23 00:26:49.04\00:26:52.77 and notice these are the festivals that were added, 00:26:52.81\00:26:56.61 it's very important and I have to put the context together. 00:26:56.64\00:27:01.52 These festivals, 00:27:01.55\00:27:03.49 these additional shadow Sabbaths were added, 00:27:03.52\00:27:07.89 because the law of God was violated. 00:27:07.92\00:27:10.69 Remember the context is once man sinned, John, 00:27:10.73\00:27:14.73 what was instituted? 00:27:14.76\00:27:16.70 The sacrificial system. 00:27:16.73\00:27:18.53 When Cain killed Abel, when Adam and Eve sinned, 00:27:18.57\00:27:21.44 the lamb was continually sacrificed 00:27:21.47\00:27:23.77 until Jesus the Lamb of God came. 00:27:23.81\00:27:26.84 And lambs were no longer killed beyond that point. 00:27:26.88\00:27:29.64 But, so there were special ceremonies held everyday, 00:27:29.68\00:27:33.68 all year long and each of these were called in some, 00:27:33.72\00:27:36.69 in a real sense a Sabbath. 00:27:36.72\00:27:39.62 Let's go to Leviticus 23, 00:27:39.65\00:27:41.76 I'm gonna have you read some of these for us. 00:27:41.79\00:27:45.49 Leviticus 23:39, 00:27:45.53\00:27:49.43 read that Leviticus 23:39. 00:27:49.46\00:27:52.87 "Also on the fifteenth day of the seventh month, 00:27:52.90\00:27:55.14 when you have gathered in the fruit of the land, 00:27:55.17\00:27:57.74 you shall keep the feast of the Lord for seven days, 00:27:57.77\00:28:00.64 on the first day there shall be a Sabbath-rest, 00:28:00.68\00:28:03.55 and on the eighth day a Sabbath-rest." 00:28:03.58\00:28:05.71 Okay, notice that. 00:28:05.75\00:28:07.38 On the first day a Sabbath-rest, 00:28:07.42\00:28:10.19 on the eighth day a Sabbath-rest. 00:28:10.22\00:28:13.02 And it was in reference to what? 00:28:13.05\00:28:14.82 The feasts it says, "The fifteenth day 00:28:14.86\00:28:18.06 when you have gathered in the fruit of the land", 00:28:18.09\00:28:20.53 that's the feast of the first fruits. 00:28:20.56\00:28:23.06 And that was on the first day a Sabbath-rest, 00:28:23.10\00:28:26.13 on the eighth day a Sabbath-rest. 00:28:26.17\00:28:28.40 These are the Sabbaths that were done away with 00:28:28.44\00:28:31.34 because Jesus fulfilled that by becoming the first fruits. 00:28:31.37\00:28:35.48 I want you to get that. 00:28:35.51\00:28:36.85 If you go to 1 Corinthians 15:20, 00:28:36.88\00:28:40.15 it says, "Christ have then become the firstfruits 00:28:40.18\00:28:43.65 of those that slept." 00:28:43.69\00:28:45.75 They gather these first fruits in. 00:28:45.79\00:28:47.59 What happened when Jesus enter heaven? 00:28:47.62\00:28:49.32 He got gathered in. 00:28:49.36\00:28:50.99 Now we're gonna be the one's gathered later, 00:28:51.03\00:28:52.96 but He became the first representative, 00:28:52.99\00:28:55.53 He was the first fruit. 00:28:55.56\00:28:57.00 So this ceremony was fulfilled in the resurrection of Jesus, 00:28:57.03\00:29:01.47 the first fruit. 00:29:01.50\00:29:02.84 But, now let me give you just one more and you also, 00:29:02.87\00:29:06.91 Leviticus 23:27, let me go there, 00:29:06.94\00:29:12.01 Leviticus 23:27, it says, 00:29:12.05\00:29:15.98 "Also the tenth day of the seventh month 00:29:16.02\00:29:20.09 shall be a Day of Atonement." 00:29:20.12\00:29:22.66 This was a yearly convocation. 00:29:22.69\00:29:25.46 "It shall be a holy convocation for you, 00:29:25.49\00:29:30.17 you shall afflict your souls, 00:29:30.20\00:29:32.13 and offer an offering by fire to the Lord." 00:29:32.17\00:29:37.04 And then verse 32, what kind-- 00:29:37.07\00:29:39.11 what is it called in verse 32. 00:29:39.14\00:29:41.54 "It shall be to you a Sabbath of solemn rest." 00:29:41.58\00:29:43.78 Okay. 00:29:43.81\00:29:45.15 "You shall afflict your souls." Keep reading. 00:29:45.18\00:29:48.42 "And on the ninth day of the month at evening, 00:29:48.45\00:29:50.79 from evening to evening, 00:29:50.82\00:29:52.15 you shall celebrate your Sabbath." 00:29:52.19\00:29:53.52 Notice how many Sabbath we've seen so far. 00:29:53.56\00:29:55.39 First day, eighth day, ninth day of the tenth month, 00:29:55.42\00:30:01.26 these ninth day of that month, 00:30:01.30\00:30:03.93 so you see, so far we've found four additional Sabbaths. 00:30:03.97\00:30:06.74 Yeah. 00:30:06.77\00:30:08.10 These were the shadows that were pointing to the work 00:30:08.14\00:30:09.60 that Christ would accomplish. 00:30:09.64\00:30:11.41 And lastly, look at verse 24, Leviticus 23:24, 00:30:11.44\00:30:15.44 read that one for us. 00:30:15.48\00:30:18.25 "Speak to the children of Israel, 00:30:18.28\00:30:19.61 saying: 'In the seventh month, on the first day of the month, 00:30:19.65\00:30:21.98 you shall have a Sabbath-rest, 00:30:22.02\00:30:24.09 a memorial of blowing of trumpets, 00:30:24.12\00:30:25.85 a holy convocation." 00:30:25.89\00:30:27.22 This is the feast of trumpets, the blowing of the trumpets, 00:30:27.26\00:30:30.66 which was preparatory to the Day of Atonement. 00:30:30.69\00:30:32.69 The trumpet was blown to let people know 00:30:32.73\00:30:34.40 when the trumpet was sounded, 00:30:34.43\00:30:35.76 there were 10 days before the Day of Atonement. 00:30:35.80\00:30:37.30 So, so far we found five additional Sabbaths. 00:30:37.33\00:30:40.40 These were the Sabbaths nailed to the cross, 00:30:40.44\00:30:42.37 because each of them were pointing to a work 00:30:42.40\00:30:45.04 that Christ would accomplish when He came. 00:30:45.07\00:30:46.81 And they were, but these Sabbath, 00:30:46.84\00:30:49.71 the seventh day Sabbath 00:30:49.74\00:30:51.51 was not a part of a ceremonial system. 00:30:51.55\00:30:54.22 It was instituted and blessed 00:30:54.25\00:30:56.55 before sin ever entered the world. 00:30:56.58\00:30:58.42 And lastly, John, Galatians 3:19, 00:30:58.45\00:31:00.82 this wraps up this question. 00:31:00.86\00:31:02.62 Galatians 3:19, read that. 00:31:02.66\00:31:04.96 And, so, friends, as you look at these, 00:31:04.99\00:31:06.86 yeah, there was ceremonial Sabbaths 00:31:06.90\00:31:08.56 and so Colossians 2:16, 00:31:08.60\00:31:09.96 talks about these ceremonial Sabbaths. 00:31:10.00\00:31:12.00 These were all a part of the dealing 00:31:12.03\00:31:13.97 with the sin issue, 00:31:14.00\00:31:15.34 but Jesus came to deal with the sin issue. 00:31:15.37\00:31:17.21 Notice what Galatians 3: 19 says. 00:31:17.24\00:31:20.21 "What purpose then does the law serve, 00:31:20.24\00:31:22.78 it was added because of transgressions, 00:31:22.81\00:31:25.38 till the Seed should come to whom the promise was made 00:31:25.41\00:31:28.35 and it was appointed through angels 00:31:28.38\00:31:30.12 by the hand of the mediator." 00:31:30.15\00:31:31.49 Okay, so the law 00:31:31.52\00:31:32.95 that we talked about the blowing of the trumpets, 00:31:32.99\00:31:34.72 the sacrificial system, the afflicting of these souls, 00:31:34.76\00:31:37.53 the feast of fruits and all that, 00:31:37.56\00:31:39.19 that was added because of transgression. 00:31:39.23\00:31:41.13 What is transgression? The violation of a law. 00:31:41.16\00:31:44.13 So now, let's get this. 00:31:44.17\00:31:45.50 Somebody speeds down the street and kill someone. 00:31:45.53\00:31:48.47 We got to make a law against speeding in this community, 00:31:48.50\00:31:51.47 because somebody was killed, one law was broken, 00:31:51.51\00:31:54.91 we got to make a law now to stop speeding, 00:31:54.94\00:31:56.88 another law was added. 00:31:56.91\00:31:58.28 See, so if the commandments of God were never violated, 00:31:58.31\00:32:02.52 that there will be no need for these ceremonies 00:32:02.55\00:32:04.49 that lead people back to the one he would come 00:32:04.52\00:32:06.22 and ultimately resolve the issue of sin. 00:32:06.25\00:32:10.06 So whenever you talk about Colossians 2:16, 00:32:10.09\00:32:12.19 or the ceremonial Sabbaths, or the shadow Sabbaths, 00:32:12.23\00:32:14.36 remember, these were all 00:32:14.40\00:32:16.26 and you could find the majority of them in Leviticus 23 00:32:16.30\00:32:20.07 pointing to the work of Christ 00:32:20.10\00:32:21.44 and when He came and fulfilled all that, 00:32:21.47\00:32:23.54 that law was nailed to the cross, 00:32:23.57\00:32:26.17 but the Sabbath is a perpetual sign, 00:32:26.21\00:32:29.18 blessed in Eden, 00:32:29.21\00:32:30.85 kept by the Old Testament church, 00:32:30.88\00:32:32.55 kept by the New Testament church 00:32:32.58\00:32:34.65 will be kept in heaven. 00:32:34.68\00:32:36.38 It's just that since the Dark Ages up until now, 00:32:36.42\00:32:38.92 Satan has put into place an institution 00:32:38.95\00:32:41.79 that has tried to get rid of it. 00:32:41.82\00:32:43.83 So if it's in heaven, garden, Old Testament, New Testament 00:32:43.86\00:32:47.53 and the Sabbath is mentioned 60 times in the New Testament 00:32:47.56\00:32:50.23 as compared to only 12, representing the first day, 00:32:50.27\00:32:53.13 and eight of those first day references 00:32:53.17\00:32:56.27 dealt just with the resurrection of Jesus. 00:32:56.30\00:32:58.91 So you don't find any place 00:32:58.94\00:33:00.28 where the Sabbath was done away with. 00:33:00.31\00:33:01.64 Nutshell Ernst, why keep the Sabbath, 00:33:01.68\00:33:04.25 because the Lord said, "Ernst, 00:33:04.28\00:33:05.85 remember the Sabbath to keep it holy. 00:33:05.88\00:33:08.52 It's a sign that I'm the God who is sanctifying you." 00:33:08.55\00:33:13.02 I think we covered our time. I think we covered it, yes. 00:33:13.05\00:33:15.69 We're little over on question time, but that's okay. 00:33:15.72\00:33:17.29 But that was one that needed it very much 00:33:17.33\00:33:19.86 because that comes up continually. 00:33:19.89\00:33:22.63 Take us to our topic, John. 00:33:22.66\00:33:24.20 By the way real quickly, 00:33:24.23\00:33:25.63 if you have any questions you want to send to us, 00:33:25.67\00:33:28.10 I know that we may have jarred something in you today, 00:33:28.14\00:33:31.97 send those questions to housecalls@3abn.org. 00:33:32.01\00:33:36.58 That's housecalls@3abn.org. 00:33:36.61\00:33:40.42 And we'll be glad to answer your questions. 00:33:40.45\00:33:43.08 Take us to our topic, John. 00:33:43.12\00:33:44.45 Well, as I'm transitioning here, 00:33:44.49\00:33:45.82 just one of the thought, 00:33:45.85\00:33:47.19 you know some people have written in and said, 00:33:47.22\00:33:48.56 ''Why do you keep talking about the Sabbath?" 00:33:48.59\00:33:49.92 It's because people keep sending us questions 00:33:49.96\00:33:51.63 about the Sabbath. 00:33:51.66\00:33:53.60 It's not really us choosing 00:33:53.63\00:33:55.36 to make this a topic all the time, 00:33:55.40\00:33:56.97 it's just that this seems to be a very, 00:33:57.00\00:33:59.43 the probably the most commonly asked question 00:33:59.47\00:34:02.60 in regard to this program. 00:34:02.64\00:34:04.67 And I could see why, 00:34:04.71\00:34:06.04 because the majority of people go to church on Sunday. 00:34:06.07\00:34:07.58 Yeah, yeah, probably I think there are us 00:34:07.61\00:34:10.85 what is upwards of 85 to 90 percent. 00:34:10.88\00:34:13.31 Of people who go to church on the first. 00:34:13.35\00:34:14.68 They go on a first day of the week. 00:34:14.72\00:34:16.05 Right, and many people, 00:34:16.08\00:34:17.42 many sincere Christians don't have a clue 00:34:17.45\00:34:19.22 that it started as a tradition. 00:34:19.25\00:34:22.62 Yeah. Yeah. By the Roman Catholic Church. 00:34:22.66\00:34:24.56 Kept by the pagans before, baptized by Rome, 00:34:24.59\00:34:27.83 injected during the time of the Protestant Reformation 00:34:27.86\00:34:30.37 into Christianity and today 00:34:30.40\00:34:31.80 they think it's something that's supported by the Bible, 00:34:31.83\00:34:33.80 it's nothing but a tradition. 00:34:33.84\00:34:35.17 And, you know, what, John, 00:34:35.20\00:34:36.54 only the Roman Catholic leadership will honestly say, 00:34:36.57\00:34:39.57 it has no Bible support. 00:34:39.61\00:34:41.58 We were the ones that gave it is platform. 00:34:41.61\00:34:43.41 Based on our authority. Yeah. 00:34:43.45\00:34:46.05 Well, we're gonna cover our topic here 00:34:46.08\00:34:47.58 for the rest of our program today. 00:34:47.62\00:34:50.45 A topic that I think is important 00:34:50.49\00:34:51.95 to understand in its depth. 00:34:51.99\00:34:53.89 Because, you know, in a day and age were morality is, 00:34:53.92\00:34:58.06 is really at a lowing, at low ebb. 00:34:58.09\00:35:02.00 Would you say that 00:35:02.03\00:35:03.37 without any making it bones about it? 00:35:03.40\00:35:06.30 It is an understatement, that people are seeking, 00:35:06.33\00:35:09.10 they're sensing God's spirit to work on them, 00:35:09.14\00:35:11.47 and they want forgiveness 00:35:11.51\00:35:12.84 and they want a relationship with God. 00:35:12.87\00:35:14.61 But how does that look? And what is it begins with? 00:35:14.64\00:35:18.78 Well, the Bible says, "It begins with repentance." 00:35:18.81\00:35:21.35 And so we're gonna talk about seven aspects of repentance 00:35:21.38\00:35:24.32 over the next couple programs 00:35:24.35\00:35:25.95 at least the topic part of the program, 00:35:25.99\00:35:27.79 the second half. 00:35:27.82\00:35:29.16 And we're gonna go through what, about seven steps. 00:35:29.19\00:35:32.13 Seven things that are revealed in God's word 00:35:32.16\00:35:34.96 in regard to repentance, 00:35:35.00\00:35:36.63 so that we can have a full understanding 00:35:36.67\00:35:38.00 of the various aspects of it. 00:35:38.03\00:35:40.40 It's not simply, "Lord forgive me," 00:35:40.44\00:35:42.70 everything's good. 00:35:42.74\00:35:44.44 Although in a sincere heart asking for forgiveness, 00:35:44.47\00:35:47.18 God does forgive, 00:35:47.21\00:35:48.54 but the Bible talks about a depth of repentance 00:35:48.58\00:35:53.68 that goes further than just the request, 00:35:53.72\00:35:56.15 just the confession piece. 00:35:56.18\00:35:57.52 And so, we're gonna talk about some of those things here now. 00:35:57.55\00:35:59.72 It's gonna be a dynamic topic, 00:35:59.75\00:36:01.09 so just dive us into it, because-- 00:36:01.12\00:36:02.56 Yeah, let's look at it first, 00:36:02.59\00:36:04.13 first of all a couple of promises. 00:36:04.16\00:36:05.49 All right. 00:36:05.53\00:36:06.86 Number one, from Matthew 1:21, it says, 00:36:06.90\00:36:09.53 "In regard to Jesus she will bring forth a Son, 00:36:09.56\00:36:13.20 that is Jesus, who shall call 00:36:13.23\00:36:15.00 and you shall call His name Jesus, for He will", do what? 00:36:15.04\00:36:18.74 Save His people-- 00:36:18.77\00:36:20.11 "Save His people from their sins." 00:36:20.14\00:36:22.28 Okay, so he wants the Jesus main goal, 00:36:22.31\00:36:24.88 his mission is to deliver the human race 00:36:24.91\00:36:28.25 from the bondage of sin. 00:36:28.28\00:36:29.88 From the sin, not only the big sin, Sin, 00:36:29.92\00:36:32.82 but the sins that are committed 00:36:32.85\00:36:34.82 and he wants to move them pass that into a holy relationship 00:36:34.86\00:36:37.76 with God. 00:36:37.79\00:36:39.29 And, you know, when the Bible says, 00:36:39.33\00:36:40.93 "Save them from their sins." 00:36:40.96\00:36:45.43 In my understanding of the topic 00:36:45.47\00:36:47.84 I go to John 1:29, "Behold, the Lamb of God 00:36:47.87\00:36:50.91 that taketh away the sin of the world." 00:36:50.94\00:36:53.98 There you go. Let me give you an example. 00:36:54.01\00:36:57.01 I'm sure you've seen trees, an apple tree before. 00:36:57.05\00:37:01.42 I'm sure you've seen an apple tree before, 00:37:01.45\00:37:03.15 hopefully said hope you have. 00:37:03.18\00:37:05.89 But let's do this reverse process. 00:37:05.92\00:37:10.29 Say you find a worm in an apple. 00:37:10.33\00:37:13.23 Well, you can't find a worm in an apple, 00:37:13.26\00:37:15.20 if there is no apple. 00:37:15.23\00:37:17.33 You can't find an apple 00:37:17.37\00:37:19.60 if there is no branch to connect to the apple. 00:37:19.63\00:37:22.90 You can't find the branch if there is no tree 00:37:22.94\00:37:25.54 to connect the branch to the apple, 00:37:25.57\00:37:27.74 to give worm, to make a place for the worm to go. 00:37:27.78\00:37:30.65 You cannot find a trunk of the tree 00:37:30.68\00:37:35.85 unless somebody planted the seed. 00:37:35.88\00:37:38.25 So, do I go all the way back and say, you know what, 00:37:38.29\00:37:42.36 if we could just keep that seed from being planted, 00:37:42.39\00:37:46.06 there will be no worms in apples. 00:37:46.09\00:37:49.06 That's what the sin of the world is. 00:37:49.10\00:37:50.97 The sin of the world is that broken relationship. 00:37:51.00\00:37:54.70 The sin of the world is that broken relationship. 00:37:54.74\00:37:59.24 That as a result of that broken relationship, 00:37:59.27\00:38:03.35 everything has resulted. 00:38:03.38\00:38:04.85 Now we have sins, we have all these worms, 00:38:04.88\00:38:06.55 all these apple trees, 00:38:06.58\00:38:08.38 and so it could be crime, violence, 00:38:08.42\00:38:10.22 punishment, death, pornography, alcoholism, 00:38:10.25\00:38:14.06 drug abuse, you know, you name it. 00:38:14.09\00:38:16.52 Sins of the symptom. Right, the symptom exactly. 00:38:16.56\00:38:19.13 And the sin-- 00:38:19.16\00:38:20.56 Is the seed-- Is the seed-- 00:38:20.60\00:38:22.20 That has come to all of us through Adam's. 00:38:22.23\00:38:24.40 So, Jesus came to save His people from their sins, 00:38:24.43\00:38:26.30 all that stuff that's happening in their lives, 00:38:26.33\00:38:28.27 but it does it by changing the seed, 00:38:28.30\00:38:30.77 putting a new seed in, 00:38:30.81\00:38:32.14 and we'll talk about that later on. 00:38:32.17\00:38:33.51 That's right. That's right. 00:38:33.54\00:38:34.88 And, so Peter says in 2 Peter 3:9, 00:38:34.91\00:38:36.41 "The Lord is not slack concerning His promise," 00:38:36.44\00:38:38.35 his promise to save, right? 00:38:38.38\00:38:39.71 That's right. 00:38:39.75\00:38:41.08 "As some count slackness, 00:38:41.12\00:38:42.45 but is longsuffering or patient toward us, 00:38:42.48\00:38:44.29 not willing that any should perish 00:38:44.32\00:38:45.82 but that all should come to repentance." 00:38:45.85\00:38:48.82 And so repentance there is the, the beginning of getting, 00:38:48.86\00:38:53.09 dealing with this seed issue in us. 00:38:53.13\00:38:56.03 And so, we're gonna talk about 00:38:56.06\00:38:57.40 these seven aspects of repentance. 00:38:57.43\00:38:59.73 I don't know if we should just give all seven 00:38:59.77\00:39:01.14 and then we'll start going through them, 00:39:01.17\00:39:02.50 or we should just let's talk with one 00:39:02.54\00:39:04.17 and go through each one? 00:39:04.21\00:39:05.54 Let go one at a time, so we wouldn't, like us, 00:39:05.57\00:39:07.08 we're gonna cover this again in another program. 00:39:07.11\00:39:09.14 This way we won't get people confuse about it, 00:39:09.18\00:39:10.91 but what I like in as we go to the first one, 00:39:10.95\00:39:14.22 repentance is so widely important. 00:39:14.25\00:39:15.75 You know, nowadays, so many people 00:39:15.78\00:39:17.12 and I did a whole study on this, 00:39:17.15\00:39:19.85 you know, like 17 pages, 00:39:19.89\00:39:21.42 I put together just recently on a study on Baptism, 00:39:21.46\00:39:24.43 Repentance, Confession, Conversion, 00:39:24.46\00:39:26.06 all that other stuff. 00:39:26.09\00:39:27.43 And what I've discovered is, what the Lord-- 00:39:27.46\00:39:31.27 what the word of God reveal to me is this. 00:39:31.30\00:39:33.10 Lot of people want to-- 00:39:33.13\00:39:36.00 Let me use a phrase here, 00:39:36.04\00:39:37.37 lot of people in a diluted sense. 00:39:37.41\00:39:38.94 When people want to join a church, 00:39:38.97\00:39:41.31 very few people repent, they just want to be a member. 00:39:41.34\00:39:45.41 So, we often go through the doctrinal, 28 fundamentals, 00:39:45.45\00:39:48.45 we agree, we become intellectual Christians. 00:39:48.48\00:39:51.32 But what happens then 00:39:51.35\00:39:52.69 because they don't understand this topic and that's why 00:39:52.72\00:39:54.52 it's so important to discuss it, 00:39:54.56\00:39:56.06 because they haven't repented of anything generally, 00:39:56.09\00:39:59.29 they now practice their sin in private, 00:39:59.33\00:40:03.10 and they struggle in public. 00:40:03.13\00:40:05.87 And, but they are now, 00:40:05.90\00:40:07.90 ''I'm a member, but I'm a struggling sinner 00:40:07.94\00:40:11.37 and if could just keep my sin private, 00:40:11.41\00:40:14.11 then I'll be seen in public as a guy or woman 00:40:14.14\00:40:17.15 that has become a good member." 00:40:17.18\00:40:19.45 But the Lord, repentance is not about good membership, 00:40:19.48\00:40:23.05 but it's about a good relationship with Jesus. 00:40:23.08\00:40:26.15 So walk us through the first one. 00:40:26.19\00:40:27.59 What is it, what does it do? 00:40:27.62\00:40:28.96 The first one is examination 00:40:28.99\00:40:30.36 and what we were talking about here, 00:40:30.39\00:40:32.46 is a search of the heart. 00:40:32.49\00:40:35.03 And comparing what's there with a holiness of God. 00:40:35.06\00:40:38.53 I'm gonna use this as a sermon one day by the way, 00:40:38.57\00:40:40.27 I'm not gonna tell you where. 00:40:40.30\00:40:41.87 Please, please. Good stuff. 00:40:41.90\00:40:43.24 And so, it's getting to know yourself. 00:40:43.27\00:40:44.84 I think one of the things that we miss is that, 00:40:44.87\00:40:47.58 just in our culture today, 00:40:47.61\00:40:49.31 is we lack kind of a real understanding of ourselves. 00:40:49.34\00:40:52.95 That's right. 00:40:52.98\00:40:54.32 Our weaknesses, our deficiencies, 00:40:54.35\00:40:55.72 our issues and we kind of, we argue, or we debate, 00:40:55.75\00:40:59.59 or we hold and live our lives, 00:40:59.62\00:41:01.92 we hold to beliefs that we have 00:41:01.96\00:41:04.56 thinking that we got it all right, 00:41:04.59\00:41:06.80 things are all together. 00:41:06.83\00:41:08.23 Bur really we haven't done a lot of self examination. 00:41:08.26\00:41:10.60 There isn't a lot of searching of the heart 00:41:10.63\00:41:12.20 to see whether or not it truly is 00:41:12.23\00:41:14.80 in line with God's picture 00:41:14.84\00:41:17.01 in His word of righteousness and holiness. 00:41:17.04\00:41:21.71 And so, a big part of this examination process 00:41:21.74\00:41:26.51 that we'll read a few scriptures about here 00:41:26.55\00:41:28.62 involves asking the Lord, 00:41:28.65\00:41:30.42 allowing the Lord to reveal to you, 00:41:30.45\00:41:32.52 to bring up in your mind the sin that exists. 00:41:32.55\00:41:36.22 What is in there that not only, 00:41:36.26\00:41:40.86 what are the hurts that I've done for others, 00:41:40.90\00:41:42.93 that I've done to others, 00:41:42.96\00:41:44.30 but what is it that's causing it for me in here, 00:41:44.33\00:41:46.84 so that I continue to do it, 00:41:46.87\00:41:48.94 because you know as a pastor, John, 00:41:48.97\00:41:50.41 we had people that are looking to gain, 00:41:50.44\00:41:53.91 just to overcome a sin in their life or something 00:41:53.94\00:41:56.14 and it seems to happen over and over again. 00:41:56.18\00:41:58.38 And that's because, we almost whitewash, 00:41:58.41\00:42:00.32 or get rid of the sins, the symptoms, 00:42:00.35\00:42:03.12 and we're not dealing with the heart of the issue, 00:42:03.15\00:42:04.92 what is really triggering this? 00:42:04.95\00:42:06.29 What going on in there? 00:42:06.32\00:42:07.66 And so, only an examination, 00:42:07.69\00:42:10.23 searching of the heart will allow us 00:42:10.26\00:42:12.83 to find those things, to God reveals those things in us. 00:42:12.86\00:42:15.70 And, you know, why it's important, John, 00:42:15.73\00:42:17.07 for us to examine ourselves, 00:42:17.10\00:42:18.57 it's because as you were speaking, 00:42:18.60\00:42:20.54 the thought came to me, you know, 00:42:20.57\00:42:22.04 while we read both preach 00:42:22.07\00:42:23.41 in front of a large audiences all the time 00:42:23.44\00:42:25.21 and even this world audience on television. 00:42:25.24\00:42:27.84 And I would say, I could say, 00:42:27.88\00:42:29.48 I can make it factual statement, 00:42:29.51\00:42:32.51 almost cell phones are all over the world. 00:42:32.55\00:42:38.22 And I would say people either have an iPhone or an android, 00:42:38.25\00:42:44.26 and there may be a third one in that category, 00:42:44.29\00:42:45.86 so I'm not even sure, 00:42:45.89\00:42:47.53 but in America we have iPhone or android. 00:42:47.56\00:42:50.63 You know, we got Samsung, or the LG, 00:42:50.67\00:42:53.54 or the Windows phone 00:42:53.57\00:42:55.60 are falling into the android category, 00:42:55.64\00:42:57.74 then on the other side 00:42:57.77\00:42:59.11 just the iPhone is all by itself. 00:42:59.14\00:43:01.18 I cannot look at an audience 00:43:01.21\00:43:02.61 and I could look at the audience and say, 00:43:02.64\00:43:05.25 ''I know that most of you have a cell phone, 00:43:05.28\00:43:08.75 but I don't know which kind. 00:43:08.78\00:43:12.15 In order for me to find out, I've examine each one of you 00:43:12.19\00:43:14.26 independently and I can come up now with a statistical survey, 00:43:14.29\00:43:17.33 35 percent of my audience has this phone, 00:43:17.36\00:43:19.56 20 percent has this phone, the 45 percent have this phone, 00:43:19.59\00:43:24.03 so I could come up with the entire demographical, 00:43:24.07\00:43:26.63 35 percent iPhone, 20 percent Samsung, 00:43:26.67\00:43:31.84 45 percent Windows phone, whatever the case may be 00:43:31.87\00:43:34.11 and then I can have my 100 percent. 00:43:34.14\00:43:35.94 But if you examine yourself, 00:43:35.98\00:43:38.28 there is no need for me to try to determine 00:43:38.31\00:43:39.78 what's going on in your own life. 00:43:39.81\00:43:41.32 The Lord is saying, 00:43:41.35\00:43:42.68 this is a relationship thing between you and me. 00:43:42.72\00:43:44.35 I want you to examine yourself that's why I like... 00:43:44.39\00:43:47.29 Can I go to Psalm? Yeah, go ahead. 00:43:47.32\00:43:48.96 You know, David the Psalmist. 00:43:48.99\00:43:51.79 Psalm 139:23-24, when you get to know yourself, 00:43:51.83\00:43:57.73 you get to know yourself by self examination. 00:43:57.77\00:44:00.00 And periodically, I just saw a news piece 00:44:00.04\00:44:03.27 where a young lady 23 years old, 00:44:03.30\00:44:06.68 she kept getting the wrong diagnosis from her doctors, 00:44:06.71\00:44:09.14 and she said she knew something was wrong, 00:44:09.18\00:44:11.08 so she examined herself, and found out that 00:44:11.11\00:44:15.22 and she insisted on getting one of the MRI's, 00:44:15.25\00:44:19.22 found out that she had third stage ovarian cancer, 00:44:19.25\00:44:23.29 but she came to conclusion by examining herself 00:44:23.32\00:44:26.90 that I know my body is just not working right. 00:44:26.93\00:44:30.53 And, you know, sometimes we know better, 00:44:30.57\00:44:32.33 our car breaks down, we go to the dealer, 00:44:32.37\00:44:33.84 I don't know what it is, 00:44:33.87\00:44:35.20 but it just keeps pulling to the right. 00:44:35.24\00:44:36.57 Well, sir, I can't find anything, 00:44:36.60\00:44:37.94 but there's something wrong. 00:44:37.97\00:44:39.54 When you pray this prayer, the Lord will honor it. 00:44:39.57\00:44:42.88 Psalm 139:23-24, "Search me, O God, and know my heart, 00:44:42.91\00:44:48.65 Try me, and know my anxieties, 00:44:48.68\00:44:52.59 or my thoughts as the King James. 00:44:52.62\00:44:55.39 And see if there is any wicked way in me, 00:44:55.42\00:44:59.33 And lead me in the way everlasting." 00:44:59.36\00:45:03.47 So when God turns on his light, is He gonna find it? 00:45:03.50\00:45:08.24 Yeah. 00:45:08.27\00:45:09.60 And we don't necessarily like that light. 00:45:09.64\00:45:11.37 We may be very uncomfortable with that light. 00:45:11.41\00:45:13.98 But I will say this, that there is no better place 00:45:14.01\00:45:16.95 to put your trust than in God Himself 00:45:16.98\00:45:19.58 who loves you more than life itself to do this searching 00:45:19.61\00:45:23.35 and then to help you to see yourself 00:45:23.39\00:45:25.69 for who you really are. 00:45:25.72\00:45:27.06 When this text was read, it came Hebrews 4:13 00:45:27.09\00:45:30.39 came to me, it says, "And there is no creature 00:45:30.43\00:45:33.43 hidden from His sight, speaking about God. 00:45:33.46\00:45:36.03 But all things are naked and open to the eyes of Him 00:45:36.06\00:45:39.93 to whom we must give account." 00:45:39.97\00:45:42.07 So, he already knows it. He already knows. 00:45:42.10\00:45:44.24 So what they're searching for, to reveal to who? 00:45:44.27\00:45:46.34 Reveal toward us, we need to know. 00:45:46.37\00:45:48.11 We need to know and God needs to tell us 00:45:48.14\00:45:49.61 what, what's wrong. 00:45:49.64\00:45:50.98 And in this world sometimes I'll add it, sometimes, 00:45:51.01\00:45:53.45 I'm in my whole sermon, 00:45:53.48\00:45:54.82 I got this entire 17 page sermon, 00:45:54.85\00:45:56.25 I had to really to split it down, 00:45:56.28\00:45:57.62 'cause 17 pages are like two hours. 00:45:57.65\00:45:59.42 I don't think anybody will be left by the time you finish. 00:45:59.45\00:46:00.82 Nobody will be hanging out for two hours, but-- 00:46:00.86\00:46:03.99 and I did that on my plane ride 17 page sermon. 00:46:04.03\00:46:07.40 So, when you think about this whole examination thing, 00:46:07.43\00:46:11.67 the Lord wants us to know our condition. 00:46:11.70\00:46:14.27 He said examine yourself, 00:46:14.30\00:46:16.20 because so many of us can examine other people 00:46:16.24\00:46:19.04 and we could look at their deficiencies, 00:46:19.07\00:46:20.44 their humanities, their faults, 00:46:20.48\00:46:21.81 their failures, their shortcomings, 00:46:21.84\00:46:23.51 the things that we think they should do differently. 00:46:23.55\00:46:25.18 Yeah. 00:46:25.21\00:46:26.55 But, it'll work a whole lot better 00:46:26.58\00:46:27.92 if we examine ourselves. 00:46:27.95\00:46:29.28 This next text from Lamentations 3:40-41. 00:46:29.32\00:46:32.92 There's something really neat about this, 00:46:32.95\00:46:34.36 because it connects what else happens 00:46:34.39\00:46:36.16 when we search ourselves. 00:46:36.19\00:46:37.93 "Let us search out and examine our ways, 00:46:37.96\00:46:41.23 And turn back to the Lord;" 00:46:41.26\00:46:44.30 So what's happening 00:46:44.33\00:46:45.67 when we search out and examine our ways, 00:46:45.70\00:46:47.04 what are we doing? 00:46:47.07\00:46:48.40 Turning back to the Lord. That's right. That's right. 00:46:48.44\00:46:51.67 That's why David said, "God search me," 00:46:51.71\00:46:53.78 he was turned toward him 00:46:53.81\00:46:55.94 and wanted to know truly what was in here. 00:46:55.98\00:46:58.81 That's right. And for God to reveal that. 00:46:58.85\00:47:00.92 "Let us lift our hearts and hands to God in heaven." 00:47:00.95\00:47:04.92 So, repentance 00:47:04.95\00:47:07.06 is about not just a seeking of forgiveness, 00:47:07.09\00:47:10.79 or asking for forgiveness, 00:47:10.83\00:47:12.16 repentance is all about turning back, 00:47:12.19\00:47:14.83 turning away from what we've been doing. 00:47:14.86\00:47:17.63 Putting, turning our minds and our ears toward God 00:47:17.67\00:47:21.34 asking Him to search our hearts, 00:47:21.37\00:47:22.70 but then our heart is then united 00:47:22.74\00:47:26.14 or bonded with what God's will is for us. 00:47:26.17\00:47:29.11 So, we're turning away from that, that sin 00:47:29.14\00:47:31.08 and there's an other step here, 00:47:31.11\00:47:32.51 that talks about that in little more detail, 00:47:32.55\00:47:34.32 but just the examination does causes 00:47:34.35\00:47:36.18 to turn our heart back toward God, 00:47:36.22\00:47:37.55 it's a bonding of, 00:47:37.59\00:47:39.35 of a desire for a different way. 00:47:39.39\00:47:41.26 I remember standing this is a while ago. 00:47:41.29\00:47:44.13 Actually, not a while ago, but, you now, 00:47:44.16\00:47:47.00 in the airport you get these body scanners, 00:47:47.03\00:47:49.56 you walk, through security and even though I have a pass 00:47:49.60\00:47:53.23 that allows me to forego some of the process 00:47:53.27\00:47:55.64 of taking off shoes and belt and taking your laptop out. 00:47:55.67\00:47:58.27 Still when you walk through if it go-- 00:47:58.31\00:48:01.88 they say, 'Sir go back again' 00:48:01.91\00:48:03.45 do you have anything in your pockets? 00:48:03.48\00:48:05.25 ''No.'' 00:48:05.28\00:48:06.61 Okay, just check it in your bag.' 00:48:06.65\00:48:09.52 Whistle again. 00:48:09.55\00:48:10.89 They said, ''Okay, stand to the side'' 00:48:10.92\00:48:12.39 and they take this. 00:48:12.42\00:48:13.76 Well, oh, I didn't know I had a quarter in my back pocket. 00:48:18.76\00:48:22.23 It's amazing. 00:48:22.26\00:48:23.60 It seems so small, but they know it's there. 00:48:23.63\00:48:26.67 That's right. 00:48:26.70\00:48:28.17 The smallest sins in our lives, we may ignore them, 00:48:28.20\00:48:31.87 but God knows it's there. 00:48:31.91\00:48:34.64 So, he says, 00:48:34.68\00:48:36.01 what you need to do before you get to divine security, 00:48:36.04\00:48:39.41 because you're not gonna get pass the security check of God. 00:48:39.45\00:48:42.42 Because nothing's hidden, 00:48:42.45\00:48:43.79 he's got a scanner that's better than any thing 00:48:43.82\00:48:45.29 that we could, nothing is hidden. 00:48:45.32\00:48:47.22 So, what I want you do is I want you to examine yourself 00:48:47.26\00:48:50.13 and come clean, 00:48:50.16\00:48:51.49 is there anything in your back pocket? 00:48:51.53\00:48:53.76 No, and he finds marijuana, 00:48:53.80\00:48:56.26 he finds the wrong kind of reading material, 00:48:56.30\00:48:59.37 he finds, I mean, the wrong kind of, you're drinking, 00:48:59.40\00:49:02.60 he finds everything in you, he's examining it all, he says, 00:49:02.64\00:49:06.14 but here is what you need to do. 00:49:06.17\00:49:08.08 You examine yourself and be up, open it up right with me. 00:49:08.11\00:49:11.91 You tell me what your sin is and I'm faithful and just 00:49:11.95\00:49:14.82 and I'll forgive you and I'll cleanse you. 00:49:14.85\00:49:16.58 Isn't that wonderful? That's wonderful. 00:49:16.62\00:49:17.95 But this next step is really important, 00:49:17.99\00:49:19.32 I want you to lead us to it. 00:49:19.35\00:49:20.69 Well, do you want to read couple of verses here still? 00:49:20.72\00:49:22.66 Well, Lamentations, well, 2 Corinthians 13:5, which is, 00:49:22.69\00:49:26.59 what I was just talking about scanning, 00:49:26.63\00:49:28.93 examine yourselves 00:49:28.96\00:49:30.70 as to whether you are in the faith. 00:49:30.73\00:49:33.44 Test yourself. 00:49:33.47\00:49:35.00 So, even those in the faith, 00:49:35.04\00:49:37.41 remember, Paul's writing it to the church. 00:49:37.44\00:49:39.44 Right. 00:49:39.47\00:49:40.81 Just because you're in church, 00:49:40.84\00:49:43.11 it doesn't mean you are in Christ, okay? 00:49:43.14\00:49:45.88 So he is asking, Paul is encouraging 00:49:45.91\00:49:47.75 the saints in the church in Corinth 00:49:47.78\00:49:50.02 to examine themselves 00:49:50.05\00:49:51.45 to see whether or not, they're in the faith. 00:49:51.49\00:49:54.62 Test themselves. That's right. 00:49:54.66\00:49:56.32 Now it doesn't say, examine others. 00:49:56.36\00:49:59.46 And this often is what happens. 00:49:59.49\00:50:01.40 I always say when it comes to our relationship 00:50:01.43\00:50:03.37 with our brothers and sisters in Christ, 00:50:03.40\00:50:05.37 we can tell, you know 00:50:05.40\00:50:07.14 the judgment that we're asked to do 00:50:07.17\00:50:09.50 is when we see in it a sin an open sin, 00:50:09.54\00:50:12.51 that we help that brother or that sister 00:50:12.54\00:50:14.94 address that if God is calling us to do that. 00:50:14.98\00:50:17.35 There are some people, There are some folk, John, 00:50:17.38\00:50:19.41 that are not equipped, 00:50:19.45\00:50:20.78 they're not able in love to do that kind of thing. 00:50:20.82\00:50:23.65 But yet, they do it anyway 00:50:23.69\00:50:25.15 and that's the judging that we should not be doing. 00:50:25.19\00:50:27.82 Testing others and judging others. 00:50:27.86\00:50:30.43 Here's what's going on in, you know, 00:50:30.46\00:50:31.79 here's what I see in your life, you need to do. 00:50:31.83\00:50:33.80 We have to be very careful about this 00:50:33.83\00:50:35.60 and that's why such a... 00:50:35.63\00:50:37.13 emphasizes is placed by Paul in his 00:50:37.17\00:50:39.30 letters to the church on examining themselves. 00:50:39.33\00:50:42.00 Like it, this is between you and God, let you work this, 00:50:42.04\00:50:44.87 let him and you work this thing out together. 00:50:44.91\00:50:46.68 And the general examination, I'm glad you brought that up, 00:50:46.71\00:50:49.58 because I'm gonna add the other component 00:50:49.61\00:50:51.51 or the additional portion to the scripture of 00:50:51.55\00:50:53.75 2 Corinthians 13:5, 00:50:53.78\00:50:55.18 when it says, "Examine yourselves 00:50:55.22\00:50:57.02 as to whether you are in the faith. 00:50:57.05\00:50:59.12 Test yourselves. Test yourselves. 00:50:59.15\00:51:02.39 Do you not know yourselves, that Jesus Christ is in you, 00:51:02.42\00:51:07.10 unless indeed you are disqualified, 00:51:07.13\00:51:09.43 or reprobate as the King James Version, 00:51:09.46\00:51:11.43 so many people don't know what reprobate mean, 00:51:11.47\00:51:12.90 that means disqualified. 00:51:12.93\00:51:14.27 In other words, "Do you not know yourselves 00:51:14.30\00:51:16.97 that Jesus Christ is in you." 00:51:17.01\00:51:18.71 In other words, see if he is in you, 00:51:18.74\00:51:20.84 if he is not there, you're disqualified 00:51:20.88\00:51:24.25 and then verse 6, 00:51:24.28\00:51:25.61 "But I trust that you will know that we are not disqualified." 00:51:25.65\00:51:29.02 So, this Christian thing is, 00:51:29.05\00:51:30.62 that's a very powerful analogy 00:51:30.65\00:51:32.25 because Christians that say they're Christians 00:51:32.29\00:51:34.59 and are not examining themselves 00:51:34.62\00:51:36.62 don't know that they're disqualified. 00:51:36.66\00:51:39.03 So Paul is saying, "You're saying that Jesus is in you, 00:51:39.06\00:51:41.60 you better check to see if he is." 00:51:41.63\00:51:43.80 That's what he is in essence saying, 00:51:43.83\00:51:45.17 he said, break check and see if he is there, 00:51:45.20\00:51:47.00 look at your behavior, look at your attitude, 00:51:47.04\00:51:48.80 look at the way that you live your life, 00:51:48.84\00:51:50.21 check and see if he is there. If you don't find him, 00:51:50.24\00:51:52.74 you're disqualified, 00:51:52.77\00:51:54.11 you're not going to this checkpoint. 00:51:54.14\00:51:55.48 Somebody recently 00:51:55.51\00:51:56.85 and Pastor C.A tell me about this was trying to go through 00:51:56.88\00:51:59.31 coming to America and they... 00:51:59.35\00:52:04.25 they evidently, their papers didn't match 00:52:04.29\00:52:06.42 and this person was sitting right next to us on the plane 00:52:06.45\00:52:08.69 and, you know, they don't play at the customs, 00:52:08.72\00:52:12.36 they don't play at immigration. 00:52:12.39\00:52:13.73 They said, "Sir, please into that room please." 00:52:13.76\00:52:16.63 What was wrong? 00:52:16.67\00:52:18.00 You say you are... 00:52:18.03\00:52:19.83 but your paper work doesn't say that. 00:52:19.87\00:52:22.30 Test yourself, examine yourself. 00:52:22.34\00:52:24.97 Ain't nobody, we must all appear 00:52:25.01\00:52:26.71 before the judgment seat of Christ. 00:52:26.74\00:52:29.01 The next one, the next step is condemnation 00:52:29.04\00:52:32.18 and, you know, no one wants to condemn themselves, 00:52:32.21\00:52:36.45 but I think what this step really is all about 00:52:36.48\00:52:38.95 is recognizing and accepting the judgment against us, 00:52:38.99\00:52:43.53 because of our sin. 00:52:43.56\00:52:45.16 We have to go through this process 00:52:45.19\00:52:46.53 of realizing my heart is wicked, 00:52:46.56\00:52:50.50 and I'm condemned for that. 00:52:50.53\00:52:51.87 That's a hard thing for people to say it. 00:52:51.90\00:52:53.23 I deserve nothing but death. Right. 00:52:53.27\00:52:57.41 And that's a hard step to take. 00:52:57.44\00:52:59.44 Jeremiah 17:9, 00:52:59.47\00:53:00.81 "The heart is deceitful above all things, 00:53:00.84\00:53:02.21 and desperately wicked, Who can know it?" 00:53:02.24\00:53:04.88 Okay. We know it by what? Examination. 00:53:04.91\00:53:07.48 By examination. Right. 00:53:07.52\00:53:09.22 All we'd some, or we know it by tests sometimes. 00:53:09.25\00:53:12.45 A test will come 00:53:12.49\00:53:13.82 and our response to that test would reveal whether or not, 00:53:13.86\00:53:19.13 the God's work still be done. 00:53:19.16\00:53:20.90 Hey, I know I'll be candid, 00:53:20.93\00:53:24.60 I have work that's still going on. 00:53:24.63\00:53:26.57 Praise God, he said he that began a good work 00:53:26.60\00:53:28.30 will complete it, and that good, that's good news. 00:53:28.34\00:53:31.11 We know that, but we only know that 00:53:31.14\00:53:32.47 by the way we respond to these tests. 00:53:32.51\00:53:34.64 If we respond to them lovingly, and kindly, and, patiently 00:53:34.68\00:53:37.78 then we are becoming more, more like Christ each day. 00:53:37.81\00:53:40.25 But sometimes you get that, 00:53:40.28\00:53:41.95 you know, you get that mosquito test 00:53:41.98\00:53:44.12 that he said, "Oh man, he stunk me right on my eye lid 00:53:44.15\00:53:46.55 and I'm going on television." 00:53:46.59\00:53:48.36 You know, and it really stands out 00:53:48.39\00:53:50.03 and everybody sees it, got stunk. 00:53:50.06\00:53:52.19 Yeah. 00:53:52.23\00:53:53.56 Yeah, I'm really right now not in a good place. 00:53:53.60\00:53:55.73 And we have to adjust that. Yeah. 00:53:55.76\00:53:57.53 I think too that, the reason why condemnation step 00:53:57.57\00:54:00.30 is so important is that you hear 00:54:00.34\00:54:01.80 over and over in the world today. 00:54:01.84\00:54:03.61 You know, are you gonna go to heaven, 00:54:03.64\00:54:04.97 well, I'm a good person. 00:54:05.01\00:54:06.34 I haven't hurt anybody, you know, 00:54:06.37\00:54:08.84 I generally I live a good life. 00:54:08.88\00:54:11.05 See that's not the test, that's not the standard. 00:54:11.08\00:54:13.92 And so, the exam, 00:54:13.95\00:54:15.68 not only is self examination not happening, 00:54:15.72\00:54:17.92 but there is not a willingness to be condemned, 00:54:17.95\00:54:19.89 to understand that we are condemned. 00:54:19.92\00:54:21.72 And so that's why this step is important. 00:54:21.76\00:54:23.63 Romans 3:10-12. Oh, yes. 00:54:23.66\00:54:25.99 "There is none righteous, no, not one, 00:54:26.03\00:54:28.86 there is none who understands, 00:54:28.90\00:54:30.23 there is none who seeks after God. 00:54:30.27\00:54:32.00 They have all turned aside, 00:54:32.03\00:54:33.37 they have all together become unprofitable, 00:54:33.40\00:54:35.60 there is none who does good, no, not one." 00:54:35.64\00:54:38.24 Why do we and I'm gonna use a broader word, why do we 00:54:38.27\00:54:42.28 sometimes get tinkered into thinking that we're good 00:54:42.31\00:54:45.41 and other people have issues. 00:54:45.45\00:54:47.48 And there's nobody that's good. 00:54:47.52\00:54:48.85 That is a nature of sin. 00:54:48.88\00:54:50.22 Here's a key with sin, what is sin? 00:54:50.25\00:54:51.79 I think one of the greatest things that sin is 00:54:51.82\00:54:53.86 that sin does is that it self deceives. 00:54:53.89\00:54:58.03 We deceive ourselves, we don't even realize 00:54:58.06\00:55:01.26 we're being deceived by sin. 00:55:01.30\00:55:03.30 We can't recognize our issues, we don't think we have issues, 00:55:03.33\00:55:05.87 we don't think there is any kind of a problem. 00:55:05.90\00:55:08.00 If you're in that state you're actually, 00:55:08.04\00:55:10.44 you have a big sin problem, 00:55:10.47\00:55:12.07 because it is sin itself that deceives us. 00:55:12.11\00:55:15.38 Right. Right. 00:55:15.41\00:55:16.75 Sin is self deception. Absolutely. 00:55:16.78\00:55:19.31 When you refused it, I like it, you know, 00:55:19.35\00:55:22.62 actions that I like it that's the, 00:55:22.65\00:55:23.99 not the good way of saying it. 00:55:24.02\00:55:25.39 But sometimes people look really qualified, 00:55:25.42\00:55:30.29 but those machines, those tests, 00:55:30.33\00:55:34.30 those doctor scans, those x-rays, 00:55:34.33\00:55:37.00 those MRI's and all the other stuff 00:55:37.03\00:55:40.14 It will find out really what's going on. 00:55:40.17\00:55:42.57 You could go to, you know, 00:55:42.60\00:55:43.94 you could spray cologne on a pig, it's still a pig. 00:55:43.97\00:55:47.21 And the Lord is saying, he wants us to know 00:55:47.24\00:55:48.74 where we stand in our relationship with him 00:55:48.78\00:55:51.55 in that self examination, I said the other day 00:55:51.58\00:55:53.92 and I was doing a sermon about the Pharisees, 00:55:53.95\00:55:56.05 I said the Pharisees were so other, 00:55:56.08\00:55:57.89 the Pharisees were so other focused 00:55:57.92\00:55:59.92 that they were, they were not self focused. 00:55:59.95\00:56:02.12 And Jesus said, how was it that, 00:56:02.16\00:56:03.66 you know, you like whitewashed sepulchres, 00:56:03.69\00:56:06.16 you're like filled with dead man's bones, 00:56:06.19\00:56:09.06 and what they miss was self abnegation. 00:56:09.10\00:56:11.60 It's another way of saying, they did, they had no desire 00:56:11.63\00:56:14.54 to sacrifice anything in their lives, 00:56:14.57\00:56:16.87 but surely they couldn't wait to sacrifice Jesus. 00:56:16.91\00:56:19.47 So, we have to be really careful 00:56:19.51\00:56:21.01 when we are even in diet, 00:56:21.04\00:56:23.61 we have to be careful that we're less concerned 00:56:23.65\00:56:25.35 about what's going into somebody else's mouth 00:56:25.38\00:56:27.65 and more concerned about what is coming out of our mouth. 00:56:27.68\00:56:30.25 Because all these, these are part of the examinations. 00:56:30.29\00:56:32.85 Less concerned about what they're eating, 00:56:32.89\00:56:34.52 and what's eating you. 00:56:34.56\00:56:36.16 See. 00:56:36.19\00:56:37.53 And all these things are part of self examination. 00:56:37.56\00:56:39.89 I remember, I was preaching a sermon. 00:56:39.93\00:56:42.10 In one case that was on this 00:56:42.13\00:56:43.87 this very thing and I made the statement I said, 00:56:43.90\00:56:45.70 you know, we, "In the church 00:56:45.73\00:56:47.54 we need to reverse the order of what we do." 00:56:47.57\00:56:49.97 We typically judge others and extend mercy to ourselves, 00:56:50.01\00:56:52.37 let's reverse that. 00:56:52.41\00:56:53.74 Let's extend mercy to others and judge ourselves. 00:56:53.78\00:56:57.08 And I say there are all these kind of things 00:56:57.11\00:56:59.61 that happen in life, and it's funny, 00:56:59.65\00:57:01.18 as I was sharing this, I feel prompted to say this, 00:57:01.22\00:57:03.89 I said now, what we're talking about? 00:57:03.92\00:57:05.52 Don't be thinking that this is, 00:57:05.55\00:57:07.02 don't be looking to cross it out 00:57:07.06\00:57:08.39 thinking this is someone else's issue, 00:57:08.42\00:57:09.76 you're thinking about some one right now, 00:57:09.79\00:57:11.13 it's not yourself and you could hear everybody 00:57:11.16\00:57:12.49 kind of chuckle and laugh, 00:57:12.53\00:57:13.86 but they, that exactly what was happening. 00:57:13.90\00:57:15.66 But anyway this is part of the process, so. 00:57:15.70\00:57:18.53 Well, friends, we're just beginning this topic 00:57:18.57\00:57:20.20 and you don't want to miss the rest of it, 00:57:20.24\00:57:21.90 so continue studying the word of God, 00:57:21.94\00:57:23.47 because one day there's gonna be house calling 00:57:23.51\00:57:25.97 when the Lord comes to call you, 00:57:26.01\00:57:27.58 you want to be qualified. 00:57:27.61\00:57:29.08 God bless you, until we see you again. 00:57:29.11\00:57:31.25
