00:03:11.25\00:03:12.59 John, let's make the best use of our time today, 00:03:12.62\00:03:14.86 what's your first question? 00:03:14.89\00:03:16.52 I have a question from Gene and the question is that. 00:03:16.56\00:03:21.66 "When Jesus was dying on the cross he asked God 00:03:21.70\00:03:23.93 "Why has thou forsaken me?" 00:03:23.97\00:03:26.74 I've heard it preached that God turned His back on Him 00:03:26.77\00:03:29.80 because His body had on it the sins of the world. 00:03:29.84\00:03:33.71 God did not want to look upon all his sin-- 00:03:33.74\00:03:37.31 all this sin. 00:03:37.35\00:03:38.68 Is this why? 00:03:38.71\00:03:40.32 We know that sin cannot enter heaven." 00:03:40.35\00:03:42.72 And so anyway she wants clarification of that, 00:03:42.75\00:03:46.19 and Gene is asking for help with that. 00:03:46.22\00:03:49.52 You know, it's in-- 00:03:49.56\00:03:51.03 When Christ was dying on the cross, 00:03:54.03\00:03:57.37 He felt the weight of the world upon him, 00:03:57.40\00:03:59.83 okay, by his stripes we are healed. 00:03:59.87\00:04:01.50 If you look to Isaiah, a very clear explanation 00:04:01.54\00:04:03.71 of what He was going to go through 00:04:03.74\00:04:05.34 as the sin bearer. 00:04:05.37\00:04:08.88 It wasn't so much 00:04:08.91\00:04:10.45 that His Father was not looking upon on Him 00:04:10.48\00:04:12.68 or turned His back on Him. 00:04:12.71\00:04:14.75 As much as it is, 00:04:14.78\00:04:16.89 Christ recognition that sin has separated Him from His Father. 00:04:16.92\00:04:21.02 Right. 00:04:21.06\00:04:22.39 And so, we need to remember 00:04:22.42\00:04:23.76 that as you're hearing the words, 00:04:23.79\00:04:25.56 as you're reading the words "Why has thou forsaken me," 00:04:25.59\00:04:28.16 it was the experience of Christ 00:04:28.20\00:04:30.80 feeling the separation from His Father, 00:04:30.83\00:04:33.23 because He knew the sin of the world 00:04:33.27\00:04:35.27 was resting upon Him. 00:04:35.30\00:04:37.41 That right. 00:04:37.44\00:04:38.77 But the Father was still near. 00:04:38.81\00:04:40.91 Right. 00:04:40.94\00:04:42.28 And His Father who had given Him assurance 00:04:42.31\00:04:44.51 and promise of His love and His presence forever. 00:04:44.55\00:04:47.95 That is what Jesus relied on, 00:04:47.98\00:04:50.72 so in spite of how the situation appear to be, 00:04:50.75\00:04:53.92 how He felt with the sin being rest, 00:04:53.96\00:04:57.23 laid upon Him and, and really tearing Him up 00:04:57.26\00:05:01.30 and also killing Him by tearing his part of heart, 00:05:01.33\00:05:05.10 it's heart apart. 00:05:05.13\00:05:06.50 That still He rested and He rested on the promise 00:05:06.53\00:05:11.91 that His Father would be with Him anyway. 00:05:11.94\00:05:13.84 Right. 00:05:13.88\00:05:15.21 So, while He couldn't see Him, 00:05:15.24\00:05:16.58 He experienced that second death 00:05:16.61\00:05:17.95 so to speak for us, 00:05:17.98\00:05:19.31 that we would have to experience 00:05:19.35\00:05:20.68 had we not had that wonderful gift 00:05:20.72\00:05:23.49 of atonement for us on the cross. 00:05:23.52\00:05:27.99 Still we know with confidence, and he know with confidence 00:05:28.02\00:05:30.99 and just by faith that His Father did love Him 00:05:31.03\00:05:34.46 and did accept Him. 00:05:34.50\00:05:35.96 And accepted the sacrifice that He gave, 00:05:36.00\00:05:37.90 that He made for you and for me. 00:05:37.93\00:05:40.30 So, I would focus less on what the Father was doing, 00:05:40.34\00:05:44.84 because I don't think the Father was far at all. 00:05:44.87\00:05:47.81 That the Bible shows very clear 00:05:47.84\00:05:49.51 that His Father would never really leave Him 00:05:49.54\00:05:51.21 or forsake Him. 00:05:51.25\00:05:52.58 What these words are more telling of 00:05:52.61\00:05:54.25 is the experience that Christ went through 00:05:54.28\00:05:57.09 with the sin resting upon Him 00:05:57.12\00:05:58.65 and understanding that sin separate Him from His Father. 00:05:58.69\00:06:02.72 John, it was amazing about that whole-- 00:06:02.76\00:06:05.89 and the cross is just so deep what happen there, 00:06:05.93\00:06:08.86 the price that Jesus paid, the willingness 00:06:08.90\00:06:13.70 which is the trap that Judas fell into 00:06:13.74\00:06:15.47 because he had seen on several occasions 00:06:15.50\00:06:17.34 when there was an attempt made to arrest Jesus 00:06:17.37\00:06:21.54 that he got away. 00:06:21.58\00:06:22.94 And he thought, he got away so many different times, 00:06:22.98\00:06:26.21 he'll get away this time 00:06:26.25\00:06:27.58 and it will be a financial benefit to me. 00:06:27.62\00:06:29.88 But when the time came to show how ignominious the cross is, 00:06:29.92\00:06:35.19 and the weight of the world, we will never know, 00:06:35.22\00:06:37.93 we could not even fathom what it really means 00:06:37.96\00:06:41.00 to have the weight of the world, 00:06:41.03\00:06:42.36 the sins of the world laid upon us. 00:06:42.40\00:06:44.33 As the Bible says, "For God has laid upon him 00:06:44.37\00:06:47.74 the iniquity of us all." 00:06:47.77\00:06:50.84 But Jesus uttered the words of humanity when He said, 00:06:50.87\00:06:55.51 "O, My Father if it's possible, Matthew 26:39, 00:06:55.54\00:07:00.28 let this cup pass form me, 00:07:00.32\00:07:03.18 nevertheless not as I will but as you will." 00:07:03.22\00:07:06.59 And so He saw that this was an unavoidable situation. 00:07:06.62\00:07:10.76 But the beauty of it is, 00:07:10.79\00:07:12.53 that we have to balance the sins of the world 00:07:12.56\00:07:18.60 with the love of the Father, this is huge. 00:07:18.63\00:07:20.77 That's right. 00:07:20.80\00:07:22.14 Because the sins of the world 00:07:22.17\00:07:23.51 put Jesus in the category of the second death, 00:07:23.54\00:07:26.44 the love of the Father for His Son 00:07:26.47\00:07:29.48 put the God in the category, I'll never leave Him, 00:07:29.51\00:07:31.88 I'll never forsake Him. 00:07:31.91\00:07:33.25 The assurance that He will be there. 00:07:33.28\00:07:34.62 He assurance that He will be there. 00:07:34.65\00:07:35.98 And without assurance, 00:07:36.02\00:07:37.35 that's the only way that we can face the trials 00:07:37.39\00:07:39.39 and difficulties of our day 00:07:39.42\00:07:40.76 knowing that the promise that is made to us 00:07:40.79\00:07:43.53 was the same promise made to Christ. 00:07:43.56\00:07:45.86 "I will never leave you, nor forsake you." 00:07:45.89\00:07:47.60 And that's why He said to His disciples, 00:07:47.63\00:07:49.86 "The Father in Me, I in Him, We are One. 00:07:49.90\00:07:52.90 As I'm wanting the church to be." 00:07:52.93\00:07:55.24 I want the unity that the church has, 00:07:55.27\00:07:58.24 to be the unity that my Father and I have. 00:07:58.27\00:08:01.14 And so, what a, what a, what a cross. 00:08:01.18\00:08:03.28 I love the way the book Desire of Ages, 00:08:03.31\00:08:04.81 the great book on the life of Christ puts it. 00:08:04.85\00:08:07.95 "In that thick darkness God's presence was hidden. 00:08:07.98\00:08:11.45 God and holy angels were beside the cross. 00:08:11.49\00:08:15.26 The Father was with His Son, 00:08:15.29\00:08:17.63 yet His presence was not revealed. 00:08:17.66\00:08:20.46 In that dreadful hour, 00:08:20.50\00:08:21.83 Christ was not to be comforted with the Father's presence." 00:08:21.86\00:08:25.33 But He was assured of His Father's love 00:08:25.37\00:08:28.54 from what His Father had told Him beforehand. 00:08:28.57\00:08:30.61 Okay. 00:08:30.64\00:08:31.97 So the last part is my prepared phrase 00:08:32.01\00:08:33.68 for the rest of the paragraph, 00:08:33.71\00:08:35.04 I read you quote and then I prophase 00:08:35.08\00:08:36.41 so, Christ was assured 00:08:36.44\00:08:40.08 because of the way things had been with His Father, 00:08:40.12\00:08:42.48 even though He couldn't see His Father at that time. 00:08:42.52\00:08:45.19 And this is an example for us. 00:08:45.22\00:08:46.79 We may be going through some terrible trying circumstances. 00:08:46.82\00:08:50.13 And we may not see God working, 00:08:50.16\00:08:53.09 we may not see hope or experience, 00:08:53.13\00:08:57.00 deliverance at a certain moment in time, 00:08:57.03\00:08:59.37 but we can be assured that God loves us 00:08:59.40\00:09:02.30 that His presence is with us, and He will get us through. 00:09:02.34\00:09:05.17 That right. 00:09:05.21\00:09:06.54 And that's the assurance that we all have, 00:09:06.57\00:09:07.91 it's so wonderful. 00:09:07.94\00:09:09.28 I believe one of the reasons why the clouds were so black 00:09:09.31\00:09:11.61 and dark and ominous 00:09:11.65\00:09:13.42 is because the Father was so near, 00:09:13.45\00:09:15.02 that His glorious presence would have destroyed everybody 00:09:15.05\00:09:17.99 on that mountain had His presence 00:09:18.02\00:09:19.62 and His glory been revealed. 00:09:19.65\00:09:21.22 The clouds were a shield so I can get as close to My Son 00:09:21.26\00:09:23.93 as I possibly can. 00:09:23.96\00:09:25.63 So the glory of the Father could not be revealed. 00:09:25.66\00:09:28.26 And you know, you find the same thing 00:09:28.30\00:09:29.96 the glory that was revealed to the Israelites, 00:09:30.00\00:09:32.93 as one side was the cloud, 00:09:32.97\00:09:35.34 on the other side was the consuming fire 00:09:35.37\00:09:37.11 to the Egyptians. 00:09:37.14\00:09:38.47 So God's presence is there 00:09:38.51\00:09:39.94 to abide with us and to protect us. 00:09:39.97\00:09:42.24 Thank you, John, that's wonderful. 00:09:42.28\00:09:44.68 The cross is so, such a theme that needs to be-- 00:09:44.71\00:09:51.39 we need to think on that. 00:09:51.42\00:09:52.75 Give more attention to it. 00:09:52.79\00:09:54.12 You give more attention to it, 00:09:54.16\00:09:55.49 because when you think about what was paid for you, 00:09:55.52\00:09:58.23 and what was paid for us, 00:09:58.26\00:09:59.79 and then it will lead us to the place 00:09:59.83\00:10:01.16 where we don't want to, 00:10:01.20\00:10:03.16 we don't want to live a life of transgression. 00:10:03.20\00:10:07.20 I have a call, I have an email from Andrea. 00:10:07.24\00:10:13.04 And she has a question. 00:10:13.07\00:10:14.74 ''What does it mean when the Bible said, 00:10:14.78\00:10:17.65 that the law was added because of sin. 00:10:17.68\00:10:21.35 Can you summarize Galatians, then also the word of exercise, 00:10:21.38\00:10:25.42 food, Sabbath and holy days." 00:10:25.45\00:10:29.09 Let's go to Galatians 3:19, Galatians 3:19 00:10:29.12\00:10:34.76 is where we find that actual reference. 00:10:34.80\00:10:38.80 What purpose then does the law serve? 00:10:38.83\00:10:43.37 Now this is beautiful because it says, 00:10:43.41\00:10:46.27 "It was added because of transgressions, 00:10:46.31\00:10:49.98 till the seed should come to whom the promise was made, 00:10:50.01\00:10:54.08 and it was appointed through angels 00:10:54.12\00:10:56.92 by the hand of a mediator." 00:10:56.95\00:10:59.82 Okay, the law was added because of transgression. 00:10:59.85\00:11:02.76 Now what is transgression? 00:11:02.79\00:11:04.13 Transgression is the violation of a law. 00:11:04.16\00:11:08.26 So what was added? 00:11:08.30\00:11:11.40 The ceremonial law was added 00:11:11.43\00:11:14.04 because the moral law was violated. 00:11:14.07\00:11:17.57 In the Garden of Eden, and let's go before-- 00:11:17.61\00:11:20.84 before the first sin was committed 00:11:20.88\00:11:23.75 in the Garden of Eden. 00:11:23.78\00:11:25.11 And particularly we know that Eve was deceived, 00:11:25.15\00:11:28.05 Adam went into transgression with his eyes wide open. 00:11:28.08\00:11:30.92 But when Abel, when Cain killed his brother Abel. 00:11:30.95\00:11:36.89 He can only be guilty of murder if the law was in place. 00:11:36.93\00:11:41.06 "Thou shall not kill." 00:11:41.10\00:11:42.93 And then on the heels of that, 00:11:42.96\00:11:45.30 the provision of a lamb was clearly an indicator, 00:11:45.33\00:11:51.14 that okay, now because that law was broken, 00:11:51.17\00:11:54.34 we've got to institute law of sacrifices. 00:11:54.38\00:11:57.41 Because the wages of sin is death. 00:11:57.45\00:11:59.91 And when the first lamb's life was taken in the Garden of Eden 00:11:59.95\00:12:03.99 or outside of the Garden of Eden, 00:12:04.02\00:12:06.49 it was the prefiguring of the lamb of God 00:12:06.52\00:12:08.76 in John 1:29. 00:12:08.79\00:12:10.53 And so for thousands of years, lambs were taken, 00:12:10.56\00:12:13.93 their lives were taken, their blood was shed 00:12:13.96\00:12:17.13 as you see that so clearly delineated. 00:12:17.17\00:12:19.77 So what's happening here is the ceremonial law, 00:12:19.80\00:12:22.84 the law of ordinances, the sacrifices of blood 00:12:22.87\00:12:26.21 and bulls and goats and calves and heifers and doves, 00:12:26.24\00:12:29.11 that was added because the law of the commandments 00:12:29.14\00:12:33.05 were violated. 00:12:33.08\00:12:34.62 But if you read the rest of the verse, 00:12:34.65\00:12:36.45 it was added until the seed should come 00:12:36.48\00:12:40.56 to whom the promise was made. 00:12:40.59\00:12:42.76 So this ceremonial law was gonna be-- 00:12:42.79\00:12:46.06 was the result of the lambs, the goats, the doves, 00:12:46.09\00:12:50.70 the heifers, they were all slain 00:12:50.73\00:12:54.90 until the final slain. 00:12:54.94\00:12:56.91 Yeah. 00:12:56.94\00:12:58.27 "The Lamb of God that taketh away the sin of the world." 00:12:58.31\00:13:00.78 When John pointed to him, 00:13:00.81\00:13:02.51 and that's why when Jesus was crucified on the cross. 00:13:02.54\00:13:05.68 When the seed came, the promise Messiah, 00:13:05.71\00:13:08.88 I will put enmity between you and the woman 00:13:08.92\00:13:11.65 between thy seed and her seed. 00:13:11.69\00:13:13.02 Genesis 3:14, 00:13:13.05\00:13:14.92 when that prophesy was given in Genesis Chapter 3, 00:13:14.96\00:13:18.09 Jesus finally became the seed of the women, 00:13:18.13\00:13:20.93 Jesus came, gave His life on the cross. 00:13:20.96\00:13:23.37 When He gave His life on the cross, 00:13:23.40\00:13:25.17 the temple curtain was torn from top to bottom 00:13:25.20\00:13:27.64 exposing the sacrificial system. 00:13:27.67\00:13:29.84 And so, therefore that lamb got away, 00:13:29.87\00:13:32.31 because the Lamb, Christ Jesus did not get away. 00:13:32.34\00:13:36.21 And so when the, 00:13:36.24\00:13:39.11 when the tormentors of Christ said, 00:13:39.15\00:13:41.12 "Save yourself, he knew that as the lamb, 00:13:41.15\00:13:44.39 He came into the world for this particular moment." 00:13:44.42\00:13:46.42 The lamb slain 00:13:46.45\00:13:47.89 from the foundation of the world. 00:13:47.92\00:13:50.03 That first lamb slain was a prefiguring of this slain, 00:13:50.06\00:13:53.23 He knew that this was His hour. 00:13:53.26\00:13:55.13 So that's primarily what it means when it says 00:13:55.16\00:13:57.93 the law was added because of sin, 00:13:57.97\00:13:59.70 the ceremonial law was added 00:13:59.73\00:14:01.07 because the moral law was violent. 00:14:01.10\00:14:02.60 And then, there are other pieces to that law too, 00:14:02.64\00:14:04.77 we know that, the Decalogue, so to speak the law of God, 00:14:04.81\00:14:08.64 the moral law of God, the various things, 00:14:08.68\00:14:10.45 the Ten Commandments. 00:14:10.48\00:14:13.11 Those are the things that reveal sin, 00:14:13.15\00:14:16.52 but the Law of Moses has several things in it, 00:14:16.55\00:14:18.45 and one of them is a curse. 00:14:18.49\00:14:21.36 And in Daniel in his prayer in Chapter 9 00:14:21.39\00:14:23.56 also spoke of this, 00:14:23.59\00:14:24.93 and the language is very interesting, 00:14:24.96\00:14:26.29 because the language is very similar 00:14:26.33\00:14:27.66 to that in Galatians. 00:14:27.70\00:14:29.10 And it says in Daniel 9:11, 00:14:29.13\00:14:32.17 well, let's start with verse 10. 00:14:32.20\00:14:33.54 "We have not obeyed the voice of the Lord our God, 00:14:33.57\00:14:36.00 to walk in his laws, which he set before us 00:14:36.04\00:14:38.77 by his servants the prophets. 00:14:38.81\00:14:41.34 Yes, all Israel has transgressed Your law, 00:14:41.38\00:14:44.01 and has departed so as not to obey Your voice, 00:14:44.05\00:14:46.75 therefore--" 00:14:46.78\00:14:48.12 Notice what he says. 00:14:48.15\00:14:49.48 "Therefore, the curse and the oath 00:14:49.52\00:14:51.12 written in the Law of Moses, 00:14:51.15\00:14:52.69 the servant of God has been poured out on us, 00:14:52.72\00:14:54.72 because we sinned against Him." 00:14:54.76\00:14:56.09 That right. 00:14:56.12\00:14:57.46 So there are things in effect 00:14:57.49\00:14:59.36 that comes with the Law of Moses 00:14:59.39\00:15:02.00 that kick into effect 00:15:02.03\00:15:03.73 when we transgressed the law of God. 00:15:03.77\00:15:06.84 One of them you spoke off or Galatians speaks off 00:15:06.87\00:15:09.70 a ceremonial law. 00:15:09.74\00:15:11.21 But the other aspect here too 00:15:11.24\00:15:12.61 is even the curses within the Law of Moses 00:15:12.64\00:15:14.51 are poured out upon us. 00:15:14.54\00:15:15.88 And the curse they were talking about there 00:15:15.91\00:15:17.58 with the seven years of captivity. 00:15:17.61\00:15:20.02 And also the curses that were found, 00:15:20.05\00:15:22.08 that are found in the couple of places 00:15:22.12\00:15:23.45 Leviticus 26, you find him also in Deuteronomy, 00:15:23.49\00:15:25.65 I think Deuteronomy 28, right around there 27, 28, 29. 00:15:25.69\00:15:31.06 So anyway, those are the places that it read the curses. 00:15:31.09\00:15:33.40 So there are several things, 00:15:33.43\00:15:34.96 the things that the Law of Moses does, 00:15:35.00\00:15:37.97 it engages and commits, it becomes effective with, 00:15:38.00\00:15:44.51 when we transgressed the Law of God 00:15:44.54\00:15:46.68 and this is what Paul is talking about. 00:15:46.71\00:15:49.24 And so this law that was added 00:15:49.28\00:15:50.91 because of sin was just symbolic. 00:15:50.95\00:15:53.21 It was a symbol, when I say symbolic in the sense, 00:15:53.25\00:15:56.18 it was all prefiguring the ceremonial was prefiguring, 00:15:56.22\00:15:59.89 it was a symbol of the Christ to come to give His life. 00:15:59.92\00:16:04.33 Matter of fact, Hebrews 9:9 says, 00:16:04.36\00:16:09.13 "It was symbolic for the present time 00:16:09.16\00:16:11.80 in which both gifts and sacrifices are offered 00:16:11.83\00:16:15.27 which cannot make him 00:16:15.30\00:16:17.64 who performed the service perfect 00:16:17.67\00:16:19.64 in regard to conscience." 00:16:19.67\00:16:21.34 And this is where you added the other question. 00:16:21.38\00:16:23.65 Concerning only with foods, drinks, various washings, 00:16:23.68\00:16:29.08 fleshy ordnances imposed until the time of reformation. 00:16:29.12\00:16:35.02 So, these things were all added, 00:16:35.06\00:16:36.86 the ceremonial law was added until the reformation. 00:16:36.89\00:16:41.23 And whose reformation? 00:16:41.26\00:16:42.60 Christ's because it bring this out in verse 12 00:16:42.63\00:16:45.47 and verse 11 of Hebrews 9. 00:16:45.50\00:16:48.40 "But Christ came as High Priest of the good things to come, 00:16:48.44\00:16:52.14 with the greater and more perfect tabernacle 00:16:52.17\00:16:54.71 not made with hands that is not of this creation." 00:16:54.74\00:16:58.28 In verse 12 of Hebrews 9, 00:16:58.31\00:17:00.45 "Not with blood of goats and calves, 00:17:00.48\00:17:03.28 but with His own blood He entered 00:17:03.32\00:17:04.82 the Most Holy Place once for all, 00:17:04.85\00:17:07.66 having obtained eternal redemption." 00:17:07.69\00:17:10.26 I like when verse 13 says, 00:17:10.29\00:17:14.30 "Blood of bulls and goats and calves can't do it." 00:17:14.33\00:17:17.37 And then verse 14, 00:17:17.40\00:17:18.80 "How much more shall the blood of Christ, 00:17:18.83\00:17:20.87 who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without spot, 00:17:20.90\00:17:24.31 purge our conscience from dead works 00:17:24.34\00:17:26.91 to serve the living God." 00:17:26.94\00:17:28.58 So these ceremonies were dead works, because okay, 00:17:28.61\00:17:31.25 a lamb died and another lamb die. 00:17:31.28\00:17:32.75 Can you imagine how many thousands of lambs died? 00:17:32.78\00:17:35.42 How many thousands of gallons of blood was shed 00:17:35.45\00:17:39.52 and none of it could really save 00:17:39.55\00:17:40.92 until Jesus shed His blood. 00:17:40.96\00:17:43.56 You know, this is a great segue into your topic, 00:17:43.59\00:17:45.93 because we left off last time with a law of God. 00:17:45.96\00:17:49.53 Okay. 00:17:49.56\00:17:50.90 And the law that was abolished 00:17:50.93\00:17:53.13 or done away with was the ceremonial law, 00:17:53.17\00:17:55.30 the law that is the part of this question 00:17:55.34\00:17:57.27 that they are asking about. 00:17:57.31\00:17:58.77 The one that was added because of transgression, 00:17:58.81\00:18:01.01 that is the one that was removed 00:18:01.04\00:18:02.54 because of the blood of Christ. 00:18:02.58\00:18:03.91 That's right. 00:18:03.95\00:18:05.28 So we're gonna go ahead and transition now. 00:18:05.31\00:18:07.42 We want to spend more time on our topic today, 00:18:07.45\00:18:10.12 about the myths of dispensationalism. 00:18:10.15\00:18:14.02 If you have any more Bible questions, 00:18:14.06\00:18:15.69 you can send those to housecalls@3abn.org. 00:18:15.72\00:18:19.26 That's housecalls@3abn.org. 00:18:19.29\00:18:22.36 And surely we will take pleasure 00:18:22.40\00:18:24.47 and the Lord will work in a wonderful way, 00:18:24.50\00:18:27.67 that those questions can be answered to His glory. 00:18:27.70\00:18:31.64 Now, John, we did a couple of foundations 00:18:31.67\00:18:33.34 about the law. 00:18:33.38\00:18:35.34 You know just kind of reiterating 00:18:35.38\00:18:38.65 in dispensationalism 00:18:38.68\00:18:40.52 they thought that the Old Testament Jews 00:18:40.55\00:18:43.49 were saved by law. 00:18:43.52\00:18:46.12 Prefect transition. 00:18:46.15\00:18:47.56 But New Testament Christians are saved by grace. 00:18:47.59\00:18:50.79 Well, that doesn't really stand up to great scrutiny 00:18:50.83\00:18:52.93 because the Bible makes it very clear 00:18:52.96\00:18:54.66 that the grace of God was available all the time. 00:18:54.70\00:18:58.70 But go ahead and add this, John, I want to, 00:18:58.73\00:19:00.37 I want to bring out a text in Thessalonians. 00:19:00.40\00:19:02.47 We talked about the law last time how the law, 00:19:02.50\00:19:06.17 the dispensational view of the law 00:19:06.21\00:19:07.71 is that the Old Testament era 00:19:07.74\00:19:09.34 is an era or dispensation of law, 00:19:09.38\00:19:11.91 the New Testament is the dispensation of grace. 00:19:11.95\00:19:15.12 And how the Bible shows 00:19:15.15\00:19:16.48 that law and grace exist in both, right? 00:19:16.52\00:19:19.62 So, Abraham found grace in the eyes of God 00:19:19.65\00:19:24.49 as he was obedient to Him. 00:19:24.53\00:19:27.20 And we find of course, 00:19:27.23\00:19:28.56 obviously in Hebrews Chapter 11, 00:19:28.60\00:19:31.77 a faith chapter, right. 00:19:31.80\00:19:34.24 That clearly by faith, by faith, by faith, 00:19:34.27\00:19:37.67 by faith all of the patriarchs 00:19:37.71\00:19:39.34 and matriarchs of history of the Old Testament 00:19:39.37\00:19:43.98 lived and acted out their life 00:19:44.01\00:19:47.45 in accordance with God and His principles. 00:19:47.48\00:19:49.72 And so, when you see by faith that is the response 00:19:49.75\00:19:52.45 that the God's response to faith 00:19:52.49\00:19:53.82 is His grace pointing out His grace. 00:19:53.86\00:19:56.02 Clearly grace existed in the Old Testament 00:19:56.06\00:19:58.19 and throughout it. 00:19:58.23\00:19:59.56 In fact the word itself many times appearing. 00:19:59.59\00:20:03.26 Matter of fact, add to that grace, 00:20:03.30\00:20:04.77 Titus 2:11 reads this way. 00:20:04.80\00:20:08.47 "For the grace of God that brings salvation 00:20:08.50\00:20:11.37 has appeared to all men." 00:20:11.41\00:20:14.41 So grace is not new. 00:20:14.44\00:20:16.44 Noah found grace in God's sight. 00:20:16.48\00:20:19.48 Noah found grace in the eyes of the Lord. 00:20:19.51\00:20:23.02 And then in Exodus Chapter 33, "I know you by name." 00:20:23.05\00:20:29.76 The Lord said to Moses, 00:20:29.79\00:20:31.56 "And you have also found grace in my sight." 00:20:31.59\00:20:37.27 So Moses found grace in God sight. 00:20:37.30\00:20:40.07 Noah found grace. So grace is not new. 00:20:40.10\00:20:43.27 Grace has always been the foundation, 00:20:43.30\00:20:46.17 for by grace are you saved through faith. 00:20:46.21\00:20:50.31 And that not of yourselves 00:20:50.35\00:20:52.18 it is the gift of God not of works, 00:20:52.21\00:20:54.12 lest any man should boast. 00:20:54.15\00:20:56.18 So if you say that under the dispensation 00:20:56.22\00:20:59.32 that the Old Testament was by law and by works, 00:20:59.35\00:21:02.96 then they could boast. 00:21:02.99\00:21:06.03 But it says lest any men should boast. 00:21:06.06\00:21:08.56 Right. All right. 00:21:08.60\00:21:10.17 Let's go on and that kind of-- 00:21:10.20\00:21:12.33 That sums up law and grace. 00:21:12.37\00:21:13.70 That's right, it sums up law and grace, okay. 00:21:13.74\00:21:15.07 We've gotten that far. Okay. 00:21:15.10\00:21:17.04 Let me give you, 00:21:17.07\00:21:18.41 I think we're having me read the dispensational view. 00:21:18.44\00:21:20.41 You read the other aspect of it, 00:21:20.44\00:21:22.34 the biblical view. 00:21:22.38\00:21:23.71 Sure. Let's look at the covenant. 00:21:23.75\00:21:26.08 So we're talking about old covenant, 00:21:26.11\00:21:27.88 new covenant. 00:21:27.92\00:21:30.55 Here is the dispensational view. 00:21:30.59\00:21:31.92 There are two concurrently running covenants. 00:21:31.95\00:21:35.72 This is the dual covenant theory. 00:21:35.76\00:21:38.39 One for the Jews and the other for the church. 00:21:38.43\00:21:41.63 Israel of old was saved by keeping the law, 00:21:41.66\00:21:44.37 Christians are saved by receiving God's grace. 00:21:44.40\00:21:46.87 So law and grace have to them a key element 00:21:46.90\00:21:51.64 in their understanding of the covenants. 00:21:51.67\00:21:53.17 This dispensation of law old, grace new. 00:21:53.21\00:21:55.88 The other part of the covenants 00:21:55.91\00:21:57.25 they see is this historical aspect 00:21:57.28\00:21:59.51 where as, the old covenant is the Old Testament. 00:21:59.55\00:22:04.85 The new covenant is the New Testament. 00:22:04.89\00:22:08.32 That is a huge distortion of the covenants. 00:22:08.36\00:22:13.80 And we find that the Bible has a much different view. 00:22:13.83\00:22:17.10 Right. 00:22:17.13\00:22:18.47 And now let me read the biblical view 00:22:18.50\00:22:19.83 of the covenants. 00:22:19.87\00:22:21.30 "God has made one everlasting covenant 00:22:21.34\00:22:25.51 for the salvation of all mankind, 00:22:25.54\00:22:28.08 biblically the old and new covenants 00:22:28.11\00:22:31.41 are spoken off in two contexts, historical, 00:22:31.45\00:22:35.15 before and after Christ, and experiential, 00:22:35.18\00:22:38.42 converted and unconverted. 00:22:38.45\00:22:40.52 So the covenant that the Lord made, 00:22:40.56\00:22:44.53 let me just say something about covenant. 00:22:44.56\00:22:46.90 If the covenant was made by us, it will change. 00:22:46.93\00:22:53.30 But because the covenant was made by God, 00:22:53.34\00:22:55.90 it doesn't change. 00:22:55.94\00:22:57.27 Right. 00:22:57.31\00:22:59.27 I want to go and give you a chance 00:22:59.31\00:23:00.64 to expound on that 00:23:00.68\00:23:02.91 because I'm gonna get the scripture-- 00:23:02.94\00:23:04.31 Yeah. 00:23:04.35\00:23:05.68 That talks about, "I will not alter the things 00:23:05.71\00:23:08.25 that have gone out of my lips." 00:23:08.28\00:23:09.62 Go ahead. 00:23:09.65\00:23:10.99 Let me give the reason for what John was saying there 00:23:11.02\00:23:12.89 in regard to the two contexts of the covenants. 00:23:12.92\00:23:16.99 Because if you look in the New Testament, 00:23:17.03\00:23:18.36 it could be a little confusing 00:23:18.39\00:23:19.73 if you don't understand the context 00:23:19.76\00:23:21.40 of what you're reading. 00:23:21.43\00:23:23.47 Paul and the other apostles speak in a couple of context. 00:23:23.50\00:23:26.37 Number one, sometimes they do speak 00:23:26.40\00:23:28.84 of the old and new covenant 00:23:28.87\00:23:31.14 in this context of the old economy 00:23:31.17\00:23:34.64 of the Israel and the Jews, 00:23:34.68\00:23:37.45 and this new economy under Christ and the church. 00:23:37.48\00:23:42.35 They do speak of that. 00:23:42.38\00:23:43.85 But for the majority, the old and new covenant, 00:23:43.89\00:23:47.12 when Paul especially talks about that, 00:23:47.16\00:23:49.69 he is talking about experiential relationship 00:23:49.72\00:23:52.83 between God and His people. 00:23:52.86\00:23:54.90 So it is possible under what Paul writes, 00:23:54.93\00:23:57.70 it's possible to live in the Old Testament era, 00:23:57.73\00:24:01.90 and have a new covenant experience, 00:24:01.94\00:24:05.51 which is by faith and trusting in the grace of God. 00:24:05.54\00:24:09.14 And to live in the new church era, 00:24:09.18\00:24:13.85 and have an old covenant experience. 00:24:13.88\00:24:17.05 Which means, we do everything to be safe 00:24:17.09\00:24:20.76 or keeping in order to be safe, 00:24:20.79\00:24:22.12 we're doing things to appease God. 00:24:22.16\00:24:23.83 The relationship isn't quite right. 00:24:23.86\00:24:25.83 Everything is done out of the rigid, 00:24:25.86\00:24:27.83 kind of a pharisaical approach to things. 00:24:27.86\00:24:30.40 So this is why you have to, 00:24:30.43\00:24:31.77 as you're reading on the covenants 00:24:31.80\00:24:33.13 in the New Testament, 00:24:33.17\00:24:34.50 you've got to think in the two aspects. 00:24:34.54\00:24:36.10 What aspect is this writer, 00:24:36.14\00:24:38.34 is the author of this book in this chapter, 00:24:38.37\00:24:40.84 what is he writing about. 00:24:40.88\00:24:42.21 Is he writing about the historical, 00:24:42.24\00:24:43.91 to the current, 00:24:43.95\00:24:45.28 or is he talking about most commonly the experiential side, 00:24:45.31\00:24:49.38 the converted, unconverted aspects of new covenant, 00:24:49.42\00:24:52.95 old covenant. 00:24:52.99\00:24:54.52 First of all to insert the text 00:24:54.56\00:24:55.96 I was talking about Psalms 89:34, 00:24:55.99\00:24:58.96 "My covenant." 00:24:58.99\00:25:00.43 Now I mention this and let me lead 00:25:00.46\00:25:03.13 and let me precede it with the statement. 00:25:03.16\00:25:05.17 If the covenant was made by us we can break it, 00:25:05.20\00:25:08.70 or we could change it, or we can alter it. 00:25:08.74\00:25:11.14 And that's how we are, 00:25:11.17\00:25:12.51 we change based on circumstance-- 00:25:12.54\00:25:15.18 God doesn't change, we change. 00:25:15.21\00:25:16.54 Right, but the covenant was made by God to us. 00:25:16.58\00:25:20.82 He said this is what I promise I'm going to do for you. 00:25:20.85\00:25:24.12 And Psalms 89:34 says, "My covenant I will not break, 00:25:24.15\00:25:29.26 nor alter the words that the word 00:25:29.29\00:25:33.40 that has gone out of my lips." 00:25:33.43\00:25:35.90 I will not break my covenant. 00:25:35.93\00:25:37.67 So if he did not break his covenant, 00:25:37.70\00:25:39.97 who broke it? 00:25:40.00\00:25:41.60 Isaiah 24, go there with me, Isaiah 24. 00:25:41.64\00:25:45.37 I have a three Bibles in front of me, 00:25:45.41\00:25:47.44 because we like to cross reference very quickly. 00:25:47.48\00:25:50.05 Isaiah 24. 00:25:50.08\00:25:52.15 And we'll see exactly where the fault came in, 00:25:52.18\00:25:54.92 where the fault came in, excuse that 00:25:54.95\00:25:57.25 hoopla of the English language 00:25:57.29\00:25:59.09 that I just slaughtered. 00:25:59.12\00:26:00.86 Okay. 00:26:00.89\00:26:02.22 Isaiah 24:5, John? 00:26:05.09\00:26:09.70 "The earth is also defiled under its inhabitants, 00:26:09.73\00:26:12.57 because they have transgressed the laws, 00:26:12.60\00:26:15.27 changed the ordinance, 00:26:15.30\00:26:16.77 broken the everlasting covenant." 00:26:16.81\00:26:18.71 Who broke it? We did it. People, yeah. 00:26:18.74\00:26:21.51 Humanity is the one 00:26:21.54\00:26:22.88 they transgressed the laws, one. 00:26:22.91\00:26:26.35 Changed the ordinance, two. 00:26:26.38\00:26:29.92 Broken the everlasting covenant. 00:26:29.95\00:26:33.76 Now I want to build on that really quickly 00:26:33.79\00:26:35.32 because, according to the dispensational view 00:26:35.36\00:26:37.89 and, John, read that quickly under yours 00:26:37.93\00:26:40.26 of the dispensational view of the covenants. 00:26:40.30\00:26:42.43 Just read that one more time. 00:26:42.46\00:26:43.80 There are two concurrently running covenants 00:26:43.83\00:26:45.70 known as the dual covenant theory. 00:26:45.73\00:26:47.84 One for the Jews and the other for the church. 00:26:47.87\00:26:49.87 Okay. All right. 00:26:49.90\00:26:51.24 So now, so if there is one for the Jews 00:26:51.27\00:26:53.34 and the other for the church, 00:26:53.38\00:26:54.71 then we could say God is pluralistic. 00:26:54.74\00:26:58.61 Yes. 00:26:58.65\00:26:59.98 God has two different ways of saving people, you are Jew, 00:27:00.02\00:27:02.68 okay, hold on, let me get the blue stamp. 00:27:02.72\00:27:04.62 You're Gentile, let me get the red stamp. 00:27:04.65\00:27:06.96 That is not who He is. 00:27:06.99\00:27:08.32 First of all, we've read in Titus 2:11. 00:27:08.36\00:27:10.66 "For the grace of God that bringeth salvation 00:27:10.69\00:27:12.46 has appeared to all men." 00:27:12.49\00:27:14.16 All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. 00:27:14.20\00:27:16.90 Romans 3:23, "All of us have sinned." 00:27:16.93\00:27:21.30 But we've kind made the salvation Jew and non Jew. 00:27:21.34\00:27:24.81 So this covenant that was made, what has changed 00:27:24.84\00:27:28.61 because, let me read 00:27:28.64\00:27:31.01 and put this in the proper context 00:27:31.05\00:27:32.38 about the covenants. 00:27:32.41\00:27:33.75 If you go to Hebrews 8. 00:27:33.78\00:27:35.12 Let's go to Hebrews 8 00:27:35.15\00:27:36.48 and look at some of the covenants here. 00:27:36.52\00:27:38.22 Jesus, the covenant was ratified by blood. 00:27:38.25\00:27:43.86 By what blood in the Old Testament? 00:27:43.89\00:27:45.39 Now in the Old Testament, 00:27:45.43\00:27:47.33 there was no blood shed by Christ, 00:27:47.36\00:27:50.13 but there was blood shed by the lamb. 00:27:50.17\00:27:52.67 The covenant was ratified by the blood, 00:27:52.70\00:27:56.00 where there is no shedding of blood, 00:27:56.04\00:27:57.97 there is no remission of sin. 00:27:58.01\00:27:59.57 So for this covenant to work, blood had to be shed. 00:27:59.61\00:28:02.61 Hebrews 11, I'm there now. 00:28:02.64\00:28:05.45 Hebrews 8, I said, right? 00:28:05.48\00:28:06.92 Eight. 00:28:06.95\00:28:08.28 Hebrews 8, and let's look at-- 00:28:08.32\00:28:12.32 This in fact is entitled the better covenant. 00:28:12.35\00:28:17.26 John, why don't we just spend a few moments 00:28:17.29\00:28:20.20 on verse 4 to 6? 00:28:20.23\00:28:25.13 Go to verse 4 to 6. Okay. 00:28:25.17\00:28:28.60 "For if he, that is Jesus, were on earth, 00:28:28.64\00:28:32.51 he would not be a priest, since there are priests 00:28:32.54\00:28:34.58 who offer the gifts according to the law. 00:28:34.61\00:28:37.41 Who serve the copy and shadow of heavenly things, 00:28:37.45\00:28:40.02 as Moses was divinely instructed 00:28:40.05\00:28:41.65 when he was about to make the tabernacle, 00:28:41.68\00:28:43.85 for he said, saith he that make all things 00:28:43.89\00:28:46.32 according to the pattern shown you on the mountain. 00:28:46.35\00:28:49.42 But now he has obtained 00:28:49.46\00:28:51.13 a more excellent ministry in as much 00:28:51.16\00:28:53.83 as he is also a mediator of a better covenant, 00:28:53.86\00:28:56.63 which was established on better promises." 00:28:56.67\00:28:58.87 Okay, so now, see, everlasting covenant, 00:28:58.90\00:29:01.87 better covenant, somebody may say hold on, 00:29:01.90\00:29:03.61 "How can it be everlasting if it's better?" 00:29:03.64\00:29:06.27 Well, what makes it better is not that it changed, 00:29:06.31\00:29:12.45 but it's better. 00:29:12.48\00:29:13.82 Here's how it's better. 00:29:13.85\00:29:15.65 The blood of bulls and goats and calves 00:29:15.68\00:29:17.72 was used to ratify that covenant. 00:29:17.75\00:29:20.72 And when their blood was shed, 00:29:20.76\00:29:22.09 it was the symbolism of the payment for our sin. 00:29:22.12\00:29:26.03 But now if the payment of sin was under the blood of animals, 00:29:26.06\00:29:32.50 how much better were the payments of sin be 00:29:32.53\00:29:35.64 under a sinless. 00:29:35.67\00:29:37.64 That's right. Lamb, Christ. 00:29:37.67\00:29:39.71 The very next verse brings that out, verse 7. 00:29:39.74\00:29:43.04 "For if the first covenant had been faultless, 00:29:43.08\00:29:46.58 then no place would had been sought for a second." 00:29:46.61\00:29:50.39 Now what does that mean? 00:29:50.42\00:29:52.55 Lot of people think that, 00:29:52.62\00:29:53.96 okay now since the first covenant 00:29:53.99\00:29:55.32 had to with law, 00:29:55.36\00:29:56.69 then the next covenant had to do with grace. 00:29:56.73\00:29:58.76 Oh, so they say, 00:29:58.79\00:30:00.13 "Well, the fault of the old covenant was law, 00:30:00.16\00:30:02.36 and the blessing of the new covenant is grace. 00:30:02.40\00:30:05.90 Wrong. Wrong conclusion, yeah. 00:30:05.93\00:30:07.77 'Cause read verse 16, John. 00:30:07.80\00:30:10.07 This shows you clearly that the both covenants-- 00:30:10.11\00:30:12.47 Of which chapter? Of chapter 8. 00:30:12.51\00:30:16.48 Verse 16 of Hebrews-- 00:30:16.51\00:30:18.08 Sorry, verse 10. Okay. There is no page 16. 00:30:18.11\00:30:21.42 My contacts went little cloudy there. 00:30:21.45\00:30:23.15 "For this is the covenant 00:30:23.18\00:30:24.55 that I will make with the house of Israel 00:30:24.59\00:30:25.95 after those days, says the Lord. 00:30:25.99\00:30:27.39 I will put my laws in their mind, 00:30:27.42\00:30:29.42 and write them on their hearts, and I will be their God, 00:30:29.46\00:30:32.59 and they shall be my people. 00:30:32.63\00:30:34.66 None of them shall teaches neighbor 00:30:34.70\00:30:36.03 and none his brothers saying no the Lord, 00:30:36.06\00:30:37.77 for all shown no me, 00:30:37.80\00:30:39.27 from the least of them to the greatest of them. 00:30:39.30\00:30:41.64 For I'll be merciful to their unrighteousness 00:30:41.67\00:30:43.44 and their sins and lawless deeds 00:30:43.47\00:30:44.91 I will remember no more." 00:30:44.94\00:30:47.01 This idea that salvation is now in a different basis 00:30:47.04\00:30:49.31 is not the issue of the covenants. 00:30:49.34\00:30:51.38 The beauty of the covenants is now, 00:30:51.41\00:30:53.11 hey, if you think that blood was really good, 00:30:53.15\00:30:55.82 my blood is sinless. 00:30:55.85\00:30:57.19 My blood is perfect. 00:30:57.22\00:30:58.55 And that's why I earlier read in Hebrews 9, 00:30:58.59\00:31:01.32 when it says "For if the blood of bulls 00:31:01.36\00:31:02.86 and goats and cows and heifers and sprinkling sanctifies 00:31:02.89\00:31:05.96 to the purifying of the flesh, 00:31:05.99\00:31:07.36 how much more will the blood of Christ." 00:31:07.40\00:31:09.96 So Christ, He is the mediator, Hebrews 9:15. 00:31:10.00\00:31:14.14 For this reason, 00:31:14.17\00:31:15.50 He is the mediator of a new covenant. 00:31:15.54\00:31:19.01 And therefore, what does that new covenant do? 00:31:19.04\00:31:22.48 What's the same in both? 00:31:22.51\00:31:24.08 Salvation, salvation, it hasn't changed. 00:31:24.11\00:31:27.42 Salvation, salvation. Lamb, lamb. 00:31:27.45\00:31:31.52 Grace, grace. Blood, blood. 00:31:31.55\00:31:33.92 Law, law. Law, law. 00:31:33.96\00:31:35.72 It's all there. Everything. 00:31:35.76\00:31:37.19 The other big piece of this two, 00:31:37.23\00:31:39.13 we're reading about the blood. 00:31:39.16\00:31:40.50 Right. That's right. But you said mediator? 00:31:40.53\00:31:42.36 The thing that makes this covenant better 00:31:42.40\00:31:44.27 is the mediation 00:31:44.30\00:31:46.23 that it's brought forward by the mediator Jesus Christ. 00:31:46.27\00:31:49.74 Before it was Aaron, it was his sons. 00:31:49.77\00:31:51.91 It was the high priesthood-- 00:31:51.94\00:31:53.27 Okay, keep going. 00:31:53.31\00:31:54.64 That was the mediator by man himself, 00:31:54.68\00:31:56.24 who is a prefigure of the Christ, 00:31:56.28\00:31:58.55 the Messiah who would become the high priest 00:31:58.58\00:32:00.68 of the heavenly sanctuary. 00:32:00.72\00:32:02.55 And so that what makes it better 00:32:02.58\00:32:03.92 is now it's Jesus mediating 00:32:03.95\00:32:06.35 with His blood in the heavenly sanctuary, 00:32:06.39\00:32:09.82 something and listen to these words. 00:32:09.86\00:32:11.59 Something the very initial part of the covenant, 00:32:11.63\00:32:15.06 the first phase of the covenant spoke to. 00:32:15.10\00:32:18.27 It was pointing all along to Jesus, 00:32:18.30\00:32:20.94 who would come. 00:32:20.97\00:32:22.30 The Messiah who would come, who would shed His blood, 00:32:22.34\00:32:24.37 and then become the high priest immediate 00:32:24.41\00:32:26.44 on behalf of all mankind His blood. 00:32:26.47\00:32:28.71 So the thing that made it better 00:32:28.74\00:32:30.28 was because it has been fulfilled. 00:32:30.31\00:32:33.42 Even Jesus says in Matthew 5:8, 5:17-18, 00:32:33.45\00:32:36.32 "I have come not to destroy but to fulfill." 00:32:36.35\00:32:38.79 That's right. 00:32:38.82\00:32:40.16 So sometimes we say, "Well, okay 00:32:40.19\00:32:41.52 well, he did away with the ceremonial law." 00:32:41.56\00:32:44.69 I think probably the more accurate rendition of that 00:32:44.73\00:32:46.76 is He fulfilled it. 00:32:46.80\00:32:48.36 Thank you, that's exactly-- 00:32:48.40\00:32:49.73 He fulfilled the ceremonial law, 00:32:49.76\00:32:51.37 because He came as the lamb, 00:32:51.40\00:32:53.90 there is no need for a sacrificial literal lamb. 00:32:53.94\00:32:58.04 He is the Lamb of God, He's given up His life, 00:32:58.07\00:33:00.28 and that's what the author of Hebrews is saying is that, 00:33:00.31\00:33:03.28 "It's not of bulls and goats anymore, 00:33:03.31\00:33:04.65 it's the blood of Jesus. 00:33:04.68\00:33:06.01 And so when the Bible says if it had been, 00:33:06.05\00:33:08.05 if it had not been faultless, 00:33:08.08\00:33:10.35 why would there be the need for another one. 00:33:10.39\00:33:12.45 Here's where the fault came in. 00:33:12.49\00:33:15.89 The faultiness of the priest, 00:33:15.92\00:33:18.36 he had to make a sacrifice for himself 00:33:18.39\00:33:20.46 before he went to the most holy place. 00:33:20.50\00:33:21.83 He was sinful. He was sinful. 00:33:21.86\00:33:23.20 That's where the faultiness, the human flesh as a priest. 00:33:23.23\00:33:26.33 Now you get a sinless divine one as our priest. 00:33:26.37\00:33:30.04 There is the faulty one, the humanity of it. 00:33:30.07\00:33:32.74 Okay, what else is faulty? The goat. 00:33:32.77\00:33:35.68 This kid walking around the ground, 00:33:35.71\00:33:38.58 never seen heaven, never been perfected. 00:33:38.61\00:33:40.92 That's the faultiness in the blood of the goat. 00:33:40.95\00:33:43.02 So by faith you had to accept that, 00:33:43.05\00:33:45.02 okay, this is a prefiguring of the faultless lamb. 00:33:45.05\00:33:47.96 That's why, Peter says, we have not been redeemed with gold, 00:33:47.99\00:33:51.29 nor silver, but with the precious blood 00:33:51.33\00:33:55.80 as of a spotless lamb. 00:33:55.83\00:33:58.23 That's right. You see. 00:33:58.27\00:33:59.60 So the fault is in the human aspects of it. 00:33:59.63\00:34:01.30 The fault is in the earthly elements of it. 00:34:01.34\00:34:03.51 The fault is in the fact that this priest, 00:34:03.54\00:34:05.27 if he did not perform a sacrifice 00:34:05.31\00:34:06.91 before he went to the most holy place, 00:34:06.94\00:34:08.74 and, John, you know, 00:34:08.78\00:34:10.11 they tied a rope around his foot 00:34:10.15\00:34:12.38 because if he didn't-- 00:34:12.41\00:34:13.75 Pulling out if he dropped dead. 00:34:13.78\00:34:15.12 And he had bells around the bottom of his garment. 00:34:15.15\00:34:17.99 If they didn't hear the bells, they thought, oh-- 00:34:18.02\00:34:22.96 He had some unforgiving sin. He has some unforgiving sins. 00:34:22.99\00:34:26.23 When they try to work for our, he is dead. 00:34:26.26\00:34:29.36 And they couldn't even go on there, they had to-- 00:34:29.40\00:34:31.07 You know, the interesting thing is, 00:34:31.10\00:34:32.43 there is no story of that happening. 00:34:32.47\00:34:34.74 There is no story of that happening actually. 00:34:34.77\00:34:36.10 Right, but that was... 00:34:36.14\00:34:37.47 There is only a story of what they had prepared to happen. 00:34:37.51\00:34:40.48 But there is no story of that actually happening. 00:34:40.51\00:34:41.84 Praise God for that. Praise the Lord in His mercy. 00:34:41.88\00:34:44.18 Those priests took it seriously. 00:34:44.21\00:34:45.55 Yeah, now I will say this. 00:34:45.58\00:34:46.92 This is the problem with the dispensation theory 00:34:46.95\00:34:50.62 that it confuses everything the Bible talks about 00:34:50.65\00:34:53.05 in the Book of Hebrews. 00:34:53.09\00:34:54.62 It confuses everything when the Hebrew, 00:34:54.66\00:34:57.69 the writers in the New Testament 00:34:57.73\00:34:59.06 talk about law. 00:34:59.09\00:35:00.63 Because if you don't understand what law, 00:35:00.66\00:35:02.56 what aspect of the law that's been done away with 00:35:02.60\00:35:04.83 or fulfilled. 00:35:04.87\00:35:06.47 When you don't understand all this language 00:35:06.50\00:35:09.24 about the high priest and the heavenly sanctuary. 00:35:09.27\00:35:11.97 The everlasting covenant that is one covenant, 00:35:12.01\00:35:14.18 but phases of that covenant before Christ, 00:35:14.21\00:35:16.81 then from Christ and afterward. 00:35:16.85\00:35:18.68 If you don't understand in that aspect, 00:35:18.71\00:35:20.35 you are going to miss the power of the gospel. 00:35:20.38\00:35:23.72 Right. 00:35:23.75\00:35:25.09 And the dispensational theory 00:35:25.12\00:35:26.45 as all these things in it to try and plug the holes, 00:35:26.49\00:35:30.86 you know, like a boat that's got a thousand, 00:35:30.89\00:35:32.73 you're trying to plug the hole, you don't have enough plugs, 00:35:32.76\00:35:35.13 it just false flat. 00:35:35.16\00:35:37.33 And they're trying hard, 00:35:37.37\00:35:39.03 but the only way to resolve this issue is Sola scriptura, 00:35:39.07\00:35:43.57 or the Bible and the Bible alone. 00:35:43.61\00:35:44.97 It make sense from old to new, it's in harmony. 00:35:45.01\00:35:47.81 It works together. 00:35:47.84\00:35:49.28 Don't ever accept that you're a New Testament Christian. 00:35:49.31\00:35:52.21 You're a Bible Christian. 00:35:52.25\00:35:54.15 And they both work hand in hand, 00:35:54.18\00:35:56.35 one in symbols portraying what will come, 00:35:56.38\00:36:00.69 the other in reality, in actuality Christ, 00:36:00.72\00:36:03.83 showing what has been portrait or disclosed 00:36:03.86\00:36:07.26 or it's disclosing what has been from old. 00:36:07.30\00:36:10.07 And so, you know, what I like about this, John, 00:36:10.10\00:36:12.77 this whole idea the mediator, that was huge, 00:36:12.80\00:36:14.80 that was just powerful. 00:36:14.84\00:36:16.60 The high priest was this symbolic mediator, 00:36:16.64\00:36:20.78 then at time Moses, 00:36:20.81\00:36:22.88 he mediated for the children of Israel, faulty. 00:36:22.91\00:36:26.45 Whenever that high priest died, 00:36:26.48\00:36:28.42 there had to be another high priest. 00:36:28.45\00:36:30.32 And another high priest, and another high priest, 00:36:30.35\00:36:33.05 and another high priest. 00:36:33.09\00:36:34.42 That's why when the New Testament writer Timothy 00:36:34.46\00:36:36.99 records these words as Paul communicated them 00:36:37.03\00:36:39.79 to this his protege, we read these words in 1 Timothy 2:5, 00:36:39.83\00:36:43.97 "For there is one God, didn't have to be replaced 00:36:44.00\00:36:47.20 and one mediator, between God and man, the man Christ Jesus." 00:36:47.24\00:36:51.47 Didn't need, Jesus will never have to be replaced. 00:36:51.51\00:36:54.48 The fault of the old covenant was not what it meant. 00:36:54.51\00:36:57.95 But what whose that represented what it meant. 00:36:57.98\00:37:02.22 The humanity, faulty, sinner need help himself. 00:37:02.25\00:37:07.36 Even the bulls and goats offered were tainted by sin. 00:37:07.39\00:37:10.53 Right. 00:37:10.56\00:37:11.89 It says everything is faulty in the old system. 00:37:11.93\00:37:13.40 And so, that's why when it says Jesus is a mediator 00:37:13.43\00:37:16.73 of a new covenant, a better covenant. 00:37:16.77\00:37:21.20 It means the materials 00:37:21.24\00:37:22.94 that are now holding this covenant together 00:37:22.97\00:37:25.14 are perfect faultless sinless and eternal. 00:37:25.17\00:37:28.81 So bring it back to kind of end 00:37:28.84\00:37:30.18 'cause we need to move into the next one, 00:37:30.21\00:37:31.55 but so one of the things we were saying 00:37:31.58\00:37:33.82 was that there are two aspects to new and old covenant, 00:37:33.85\00:37:35.85 there is historical and there is experiential. 00:37:35.88\00:37:37.95 The historical would be, 00:37:37.99\00:37:39.59 there isn't an element of the old which was faulty 00:37:39.62\00:37:42.59 and in the new phase under Christ which is perfect. 00:37:42.62\00:37:45.09 That's, that's the historical understanding of the covenants. 00:37:45.13\00:37:48.33 But then the new and old covenant 00:37:48.36\00:37:49.70 also is experiential. 00:37:49.73\00:37:51.13 That's right. 00:37:51.17\00:37:52.50 Believing in the Christ Jesus who would come as my sin bearer 00:37:52.53\00:37:57.11 and save me by His grace 00:37:57.14\00:37:59.81 and make me a obedient son or daughter of God, 00:37:59.84\00:38:03.65 that is the new covenant experience. 00:38:03.68\00:38:06.28 And those in the Old Testament, 00:38:06.31\00:38:07.88 if they looked upon on that lamb, 00:38:07.92\00:38:09.42 in that regard they were experiencing the new covenant. 00:38:09.45\00:38:11.72 That's right. 00:38:11.75\00:38:13.09 And then if those that just keep the law, 00:38:13.12\00:38:14.86 keep the law to be saved, 00:38:14.89\00:38:16.39 there were those in the Old Testament 00:38:16.42\00:38:17.76 that did that, 00:38:17.79\00:38:19.13 there were those in the New Testament do that, 00:38:19.16\00:38:20.50 there are those who still do that, 00:38:20.53\00:38:21.86 they're under the old covenant in an experiential sense. 00:38:21.90\00:38:25.00 So we don't want to confuse you, 00:38:25.03\00:38:26.37 but you have to understand what you're talking about 00:38:26.40\00:38:27.90 what the Bible speaking of 00:38:27.94\00:38:29.27 when you go through that topic of the covenants. 00:38:29.30\00:38:32.21 Anyway we need to move on to the next one. 00:38:32.24\00:38:34.04 Okay, even when you said, look, 00:38:34.08\00:38:35.64 you know when the throat of a lamb was slit, 00:38:35.68\00:38:38.75 the person who did that had to keep his eyes connected 00:38:38.78\00:38:41.92 to the eyes of the lamb as the lamb continues blinking 00:38:41.95\00:38:46.72 until all the life had drained out of that lamb. 00:38:46.76\00:38:49.76 And the lamp felt dead, that's why Jesus said 00:38:49.79\00:38:52.89 and that the language in the Bible 00:38:52.93\00:38:54.63 is so sanctuary based. 00:38:54.66\00:38:57.27 That's why he says, look to me and be saved, 00:38:57.30\00:39:00.04 for I'm God and there is no other. 00:39:00.07\00:39:02.74 I'm God and there is none like me 00:39:02.77\00:39:04.57 and so this, the whole beauty of it. 00:39:04.61\00:39:06.04 Let me just tell you the reason why, John, 00:39:06.07\00:39:07.41 this is something that I think 00:39:07.44\00:39:08.78 we want to make sure to cap off the session 00:39:08.81\00:39:10.15 about the covenant. 00:39:10.18\00:39:11.51 The reason why many evangelical say 00:39:11.55\00:39:13.11 there is a new covenant now, 00:39:13.15\00:39:14.48 we don't have to live by the old covenant. 00:39:14.52\00:39:15.98 First of all they like to disavow 00:39:16.02\00:39:18.65 many of the Old Testament principles 00:39:18.69\00:39:20.19 that are very important, and secondly, 00:39:20.22\00:39:22.76 they try to teach that 00:39:22.79\00:39:24.13 the old covenant was connected to law, 00:39:24.16\00:39:26.03 the new covenant once again connect to the grace, 00:39:26.06\00:39:28.93 how amazing it is and how providential 00:39:28.96\00:39:31.10 that we address law and grace and then covenants. 00:39:31.13\00:39:33.74 Yes. 00:39:33.77\00:39:35.10 Because the old covenant and the new covenant 00:39:35.14\00:39:37.41 is law and grace. 00:39:37.44\00:39:39.27 Here it is finally the text, Hebrews 10:16 00:39:39.31\00:39:41.94 speaking now of the Christian to broader perspective. 00:39:41.98\00:39:45.51 First one Hebrews 8:10 00:39:45.55\00:39:47.68 was the covenant with Israel after those days. 00:39:47.72\00:39:50.25 Now this is the covenant that God makes with all of us. 00:39:50.29\00:39:52.65 Hebrews 10:16, "This is the covenant 00:39:52.69\00:39:55.02 that I will make with them after those days, 00:39:55.06\00:39:58.39 says the Lord, I will put my laws 00:39:58.43\00:40:00.20 into their hearts and in their minds 00:40:00.23\00:40:02.20 I will write them." 00:40:02.23\00:40:03.57 Now this is the covenant he makes with us, 00:40:03.60\00:40:04.93 the first one he said. 00:40:04.97\00:40:06.30 "This is the covenant I will make with Israel 00:40:06.33\00:40:08.44 then now this is covenant I will make with you." 00:40:08.47\00:40:11.27 So the same covenant He made with Israel 00:40:11.31\00:40:13.07 is the same covenant He makes with us. 00:40:13.11\00:40:15.44 The law of God is in our minds and in our hearts, 00:40:15.48\00:40:17.85 you can't get away from it. 00:40:17.88\00:40:19.51 So there's no, so there's no, 00:40:19.55\00:40:20.88 I didn't read the law, I don't know. 00:40:20.92\00:40:22.25 Even Paul said, 00:40:22.28\00:40:23.62 "All those in Israel are not of Israel." 00:40:23.65\00:40:24.99 Thank you, that's right. 00:40:25.02\00:40:26.35 He says, in Hebrews Chapter, in-- 00:40:26.39\00:40:27.72 Romans 9 he said. 00:40:27.76\00:40:29.09 Romans 9, talks about 00:40:29.12\00:40:30.46 how the laws that are of Israel now are by faith. 00:40:30.49\00:40:31.83 That's right. 00:40:31.86\00:40:33.19 If you're Christ if you-- 00:40:33.23\00:40:34.56 I think it's Galatians 3:19, not Galatians 3:19. 00:40:34.60\00:40:39.97 But he says, "If you are Abraham seed, 00:40:40.00\00:40:42.84 then you are heir according to the promise." 00:40:42.87\00:40:44.67 Let's go to the next one. All right. 00:40:44.71\00:40:46.17 So, wow! 00:40:46.21\00:40:47.91 Okay, so the next one is the rapture. 00:40:47.94\00:40:49.51 And we're gonna talk about the rapture 00:40:49.54\00:40:50.88 and the second coming, 00:40:50.91\00:40:52.25 kind of in the same concurring topic here, 00:40:52.28\00:40:54.48 both topics. 00:40:54.52\00:40:55.85 But it says, on to the dispensational view, 00:40:55.88\00:40:58.85 "The rapture is a secret event 00:40:58.89\00:41:00.62 prior to seven years of tribulation, 00:41:00.66\00:41:03.19 Jesus snatches believers both alive and resurrected 00:41:03.22\00:41:06.06 from the church era and brings them to heaven." 00:41:06.09\00:41:09.50 So He takes them away secretly, 00:41:09.53\00:41:11.77 and this is what most are Christians, 00:41:11.80\00:41:15.64 in Christendom are waiting for today 00:41:15.67\00:41:17.14 is the secret rapture. 00:41:17.17\00:41:19.41 All right, go ahead, John. 00:41:19.44\00:41:20.78 And the rapture of God's people 00:41:20.81\00:41:22.38 described by Paul as been caught up, 00:41:22.41\00:41:25.21 this occurs at the second coming. 00:41:25.25\00:41:27.38 Let's start with the word 00:41:27.42\00:41:28.88 that connects them both together-- 00:41:28.92\00:41:30.25 And that's the biblical view. That's the scripture view. 00:41:30.29\00:41:32.45 So, the word rapture are caught up is biblical. 00:41:32.49\00:41:34.92 Right. 00:41:34.96\00:41:36.29 But it occurs at the second coming 00:41:36.32\00:41:37.66 and it's a visible, audible, powerful... 00:41:37.69\00:41:41.93 Earth shaking. 00:41:41.96\00:41:43.70 Earth shaking, life changing event. 00:41:43.73\00:41:45.97 Yeah, matter of fact that I talked about that 00:41:46.00\00:41:47.74 in one of my programs on A Sharper Focus, 00:41:47.77\00:41:50.07 I did a whole thing on the second coming 00:41:50.11\00:41:51.94 and the rapture. 00:41:51.97\00:41:53.31 And one of these and the rapture by the way, 00:41:53.34\00:41:54.71 the secret rapture 00:41:54.74\00:41:56.38 is the theory of spiritual Babylon. 00:41:56.41\00:41:58.78 It's not in God's word, not supporting. 00:41:58.81\00:42:00.35 And it's another dispensational view. 00:42:00.38\00:42:02.12 And by the way one of the reasons why we say, 00:42:02.15\00:42:04.09 second coming rather than rapture 00:42:04.12\00:42:05.89 is because, second coming does not even allude 00:42:05.92\00:42:09.66 to what the rapture, the word rapture alludes to. 00:42:09.69\00:42:13.16 You know, when we say rapture, 00:42:13.19\00:42:16.46 it alludes to this whole theory behind it. 00:42:16.50\00:42:19.23 People being snatched away, airplanes flying of course, 00:42:19.27\00:42:21.80 because the pilots gone, 00:42:21.84\00:42:23.44 cars crashing into building because the driver is gone. 00:42:23.47\00:42:26.54 Mama just disappeared from the breakfast table 00:42:26.57\00:42:28.28 because she got taken away secretly, 00:42:28.31\00:42:30.18 that's what the word rapture tends to denote. 00:42:30.21\00:42:32.48 So we don't even use the word rapture 00:42:32.51\00:42:34.48 when we describe the second coming of Christ 00:42:34.52\00:42:36.02 because rapture while in its actual Greek meaning 00:42:36.05\00:42:41.02 means caught away by a power other than your own, 00:42:41.06\00:42:44.46 we're not gonna be the ones that are jumping high enough 00:42:44.49\00:42:46.39 to make it to heaven. 00:42:46.43\00:42:47.76 We're gonna be caught away by God drawing us. 00:42:47.80\00:42:50.10 And we gonna ascend with the, those who are resurrected 00:42:50.13\00:42:53.47 and those who are alive gonna be caught up together 00:42:53.50\00:42:55.30 to meet the Lord in the air. 00:42:55.34\00:42:56.71 So let's go ahead and give a scripture 00:42:56.74\00:42:58.07 that goes ahead, 00:42:58.11\00:42:59.47 I think 1 Thessalonians 4: 16, 17, 00:42:59.51\00:43:02.31 let's just hit that one. 00:43:02.34\00:43:03.75 And read that one because this singular scripture alone 00:43:03.78\00:43:09.32 is the one that is often used by rapturous, 00:43:09.35\00:43:12.85 secret rapturous to say, 00:43:12.89\00:43:14.82 'Hey, see this, this is snatching away.' 00:43:14.86\00:43:16.79 But when you read it, and John's gonna read it. 00:43:16.83\00:43:18.36 When you read it, 00:43:18.39\00:43:19.73 you're gonna see is anything but secret, 00:43:19.76\00:43:21.10 every one of the components of it makes it an audible, 00:43:21.13\00:43:24.27 earth shattering, 00:43:24.30\00:43:25.63 life changing for the living and the dead, 00:43:25.67\00:43:27.70 and every grave is gonna be open around the world. 00:43:27.74\00:43:30.64 It's gonna affect the entire country. 00:43:30.67\00:43:32.01 You go there, and I'm gonna read really quickly 00:43:32.04\00:43:34.48 as I lead into that John 14: 1, 3. 00:43:34.51\00:43:36.85 Hey, wonderful. 00:43:36.88\00:43:38.21 Okay, 'cause we're covering both topics 00:43:38.25\00:43:39.58 at the same time, right? 00:43:39.61\00:43:40.95 Wonderful. Okay, let's go to Hebrews. 00:43:40.98\00:43:42.32 I mean 1 Thessalonians 4. You go to 1 Thessalonians 4. 00:43:42.35\00:43:44.09 Here's what John 14:1 to 3 says, 00:43:44.12\00:43:46.45 and this is probably one of the greatest prophecies, 00:43:46.49\00:43:49.09 it's not spoken of his prophecy sometimes. 00:43:49.12\00:43:51.23 Right. Right. This is the prophecy of Christ. 00:43:51.26\00:43:53.96 So he says to his disciples and to all of us, 00:43:54.00\00:43:56.80 "Let not your heart be troubled: 00:43:56.83\00:43:59.27 you believe in God, believe also in me. 00:43:59.30\00:44:01.24 In my Father's house are many mansions: 00:44:01.27\00:44:02.90 if it were not so, I would have told you. 00:44:02.94\00:44:05.87 I go to prepare a place for you." 00:44:05.91\00:44:07.98 Remember Christ ascended. That's' right. 00:44:08.01\00:44:09.81 After 40 days after the resurrection, 00:44:09.84\00:44:12.28 He ascended in invisible form, 00:44:12.31\00:44:14.32 angles pointing the fact that this same Jesus 00:44:14.35\00:44:16.62 who is caught up to you now will come in likes manner, 00:44:16.65\00:44:18.95 He'll come back in the same way. 00:44:18.99\00:44:20.32 This is what Jesus is talking about here, 00:44:20.36\00:44:21.92 He says, "If I go and prepare a place for you, 00:44:21.96\00:44:24.63 I will come again." 00:44:24.66\00:44:26.33 That's the second coming there. That's' right. 00:44:26.36\00:44:28.20 "I will come again and receive you to myself, 00:44:28.23\00:44:31.57 that where I am, that's in heaven, 00:44:31.60\00:44:34.47 there you may be also. 00:44:34.50\00:44:35.94 So I'm gonna bring you from earth, 00:44:35.97\00:44:38.57 I'm coming back to get you, 00:44:38.61\00:44:39.94 I'm gonna bring you from here to be where I am. 00:44:39.97\00:44:42.58 And where I go you know, and the way you know." 00:44:42.61\00:44:47.65 By the way leading up to this statement, 00:44:47.68\00:44:50.69 the disciples were saying, ''Where you going?" 00:44:50.72\00:44:52.72 Okay. ''We want to go with you. 00:44:52.75\00:44:55.92 Where are you going?" 00:44:55.96\00:44:57.29 So the context here is not 00:44:57.33\00:44:59.03 that Jesus is coming back to be on the earth. 00:44:59.06\00:45:01.16 The context is Jesus is going up to heaven 00:45:01.20\00:45:03.26 and they wanted to go with Him. 00:45:03.30\00:45:05.50 And so He says, "I'm gonna come back. 00:45:05.53\00:45:07.74 I'm going to get you 00:45:07.77\00:45:09.10 and I'm going to bring you to heaven with me." 00:45:09.14\00:45:11.34 That's the direction, 00:45:11.37\00:45:12.71 that's the context of John 14:1 through 3. 00:45:12.74\00:45:17.68 And so now, in that context 00:45:17.71\00:45:19.48 let's look at 1 Thessalonians 4. 00:45:19.51\00:45:21.22 I got to add something there 00:45:21.25\00:45:22.58 because when you just said that. 00:45:22.62\00:45:23.95 You know, friends, that's such a powerful text 00:45:23.99\00:45:25.49 because the reason why He is coming back to receive us 00:45:25.52\00:45:27.92 is because we can't go to meet him. 00:45:27.96\00:45:29.66 Right. He is coming back to get us. 00:45:29.69\00:45:31.56 The rapture teaches we're going to meet Him. 00:45:31.59\00:45:34.50 The Bible teaches He is coming to get us. 00:45:34.53\00:45:36.06 That's right. See. 00:45:36.10\00:45:37.43 And then the rapture is also another fall 00:45:37.47\00:45:39.63 that we're gonna go on to this in the millennium, 00:45:39.67\00:45:41.37 the rapturous, here is the fall of the rapturous. 00:45:41.40\00:45:44.14 The rapture is teaching an earthly millennial reign. 00:45:44.17\00:45:47.18 Why would He have to come to get us 00:45:47.21\00:45:48.74 and then hang out on earth with us? 00:45:48.78\00:45:50.25 Now this is a crazy, just think about this. 00:45:50.28\00:45:52.65 Why would He have to come and get us secretly, 00:45:52.68\00:45:55.25 then come back again and get those who weren't ready 00:45:55.28\00:45:58.32 only to stay down here with us. 00:45:58.35\00:46:00.72 You are establishing the point I made earlier, 00:46:00.76\00:46:02.99 it's the filling of the holes of the bucket. 00:46:03.02\00:46:05.29 The first problem 00:46:05.33\00:46:07.73 was that this millennial reign was going to recur. 00:46:07.76\00:46:10.37 Well, after you establish that, you read the text like this. 00:46:10.40\00:46:14.00 And text like 1 Thessalonians, 00:46:14.04\00:46:15.37 you have to come up with some doctrine 00:46:15.40\00:46:17.27 that puts Christ here for a thousand years. 00:46:17.31\00:46:19.61 So in order to put him here for a thousand years visibly, 00:46:19.64\00:46:22.18 you've got to have a rapture to get them up there first. 00:46:22.21\00:46:24.88 Right. 00:46:24.91\00:46:26.25 For how long, three and a half years? 00:46:26.28\00:46:27.92 Seven years they say, but, but these theories 00:46:27.95\00:46:31.55 they keep adding stuff to fill the holes. 00:46:31.59\00:46:33.86 If they would just read the Bible, 00:46:33.89\00:46:35.52 and let it do it, it will speak for itself. 00:46:35.56\00:46:37.53 It wouldn't seem discombobulated 00:46:37.56\00:46:39.66 and out of whack which in fact it does, 00:46:39.69\00:46:42.13 think about this. 00:46:42.16\00:46:43.63 He comes and snatches them away according to the rapture. 00:46:43.67\00:46:47.47 He comes and snatches them away. 00:46:47.50\00:46:49.47 They're gone for seven years. Where they're gone? 00:46:49.50\00:46:51.94 Supposedly to heaven. 00:46:51.97\00:46:55.88 And then at the end of the seven years, 00:46:55.91\00:46:57.25 He comes back to get the others and where does He take them? 00:46:57.28\00:47:01.52 Nowhere, because at that point 00:47:01.55\00:47:03.82 He's supposed to start His earthly millennial reign 00:47:03.85\00:47:05.85 so why is He coming back? 00:47:05.89\00:47:07.22 You see the mess up. 00:47:07.26\00:47:08.59 Yeah, and even the-- I'm coming back to get you-- 00:47:08.62\00:47:09.96 And that confuses the resurrection too. 00:47:09.99\00:47:11.33 Right, I come back to get those 00:47:11.36\00:47:12.69 that weren't ready the first time. 00:47:12.73\00:47:14.96 I'm sorry, but you can't go this time 00:47:15.00\00:47:16.67 because I've got to start my millennial earthly reign. 00:47:16.70\00:47:19.10 Right. It's whacky. 00:47:19.13\00:47:21.34 I mean I want to use a more intelligent word than whacky. 00:47:21.37\00:47:23.41 And we're not trying to say that with disrespect, 00:47:23.44\00:47:25.24 we're just trying to say 00:47:25.27\00:47:26.61 that this is how convoluted this system is. 00:47:26.64\00:47:28.54 Thank you. We're talking about the system. 00:47:28.58\00:47:30.25 We're not talking about those who believe it. 00:47:30.28\00:47:32.11 We're saying this system is out of, it's off kilter, 00:47:32.15\00:47:34.85 it's out of whack. 00:47:34.88\00:47:36.32 And we need to bring it back, we're trying to focus 00:47:36.35\00:47:38.72 on what the Bible says about this to bring it back. 00:47:38.75\00:47:40.56 You know some I'm hearing some echo right now, John, 00:47:40.59\00:47:42.42 and they're saying. 00:47:42.46\00:47:44.06 Two were in the field, one is taken, other is left. 00:47:44.09\00:47:47.96 I'll hit that in a minute. Well, we have nine minutes. 00:47:48.00\00:47:51.23 We'll do it. 00:47:51.27\00:47:52.60 You know what, John, 00:47:52.63\00:47:53.97 in the future we need to do the rest of these 00:47:54.00\00:47:55.34 and give it justice, because this is so valid, 00:47:55.37\00:47:57.51 this so powerful, that to run through it quickly 00:47:57.54\00:48:00.84 we'd almost rob those who are watching 00:48:00.88\00:48:02.38 and listening to this program 00:48:02.41\00:48:03.75 of the information that they need 00:48:03.78\00:48:05.11 to come out of darkness. 00:48:05.15\00:48:06.48 So even if we don't cover them all today, 00:48:06.51\00:48:08.08 we're going to let you know what they are 00:48:08.12\00:48:09.45 as far as at least reciting the topics. 00:48:09.48\00:48:11.85 Okay, we'll cover them in more detail. 00:48:11.89\00:48:13.39 And then we'll cover them on another program. 00:48:13.42\00:48:14.76 But, but here's what the Lord says, 00:48:14.79\00:48:16.89 just to verify what he just made the point there. 00:48:16.93\00:48:20.56 John 13:33, "Where I am going, you cannot come." 00:48:20.60\00:48:26.47 John 8:21, "Where I go, you cannot come." 00:48:26.50\00:48:31.64 John 8:22, "Where I go, you cannot come." 00:48:31.67\00:48:35.48 You can't go there. 00:48:35.51\00:48:36.85 John 7:36, "You will seek Me and find Me 00:48:36.88\00:48:39.35 and where I am, you cannot come." 00:48:39.38\00:48:41.48 You know, and the amazing thing is, 00:48:41.52\00:48:42.98 the reason why I actually insert in here 00:48:43.02\00:48:44.99 the immortality of the soul. 00:48:45.02\00:48:46.35 Right. 00:48:46.39\00:48:47.72 It's not a key part of dispensational theory, 00:48:47.76\00:48:49.09 but it helps foster it. 00:48:49.12\00:48:51.29 Is he, you would think that Jesus would have said, 00:48:51.33\00:48:53.66 "Where I'm going you can't come until you die." 00:48:53.70\00:48:56.10 Right. 00:48:56.13\00:48:57.47 You think he would have added, until you die. 00:48:57.50\00:49:00.44 Or if you want to come-- I see you after-- 00:49:00.47\00:49:02.70 Just go out and be a martyr. 00:49:02.74\00:49:04.07 Right. 00:49:04.11\00:49:05.44 You think that he would say that, 00:49:05.47\00:49:06.81 but he says nothing about it, he says, 00:49:06.84\00:49:08.64 "You'll come when I come back to get you." 00:49:08.68\00:49:10.61 That's right. 00:49:10.65\00:49:11.98 In the very book, 00:49:12.01\00:49:13.35 the very writer of this in John the Apostle 00:49:13.38\00:49:16.72 just two chapters earlier John 5:28 and 29 he says, 00:49:16.75\00:49:20.72 "The hour is coming in which all who are in the graves 00:49:20.76\00:49:24.23 will hear his voice and will come forth." 00:49:24.26\00:49:26.53 John 5:28, so there is a coming forth 00:49:26.56\00:49:29.60 everybody in the grave. 00:49:29.63\00:49:30.97 They're not heading out 00:49:31.00\00:49:32.73 to meet anybody before anyone else. 00:49:32.77\00:49:35.20 They're going to come forth. 00:49:35.24\00:49:36.57 So, but let me read 1 Thessalonians 00:49:36.60\00:49:38.31 because this is the key verse that the rapture is used. 00:49:38.34\00:49:42.28 I'm going to read starting with verse 13, 00:49:42.31\00:49:44.48 "But I do not want you to be ignorant, brethren, 00:49:44.51\00:49:46.51 concerning those who have fallen asleep, 00:49:46.55\00:49:48.52 lest you sorrow as others who have no hope." 00:49:48.55\00:49:51.59 Death is spoken of asleep by Jesus 4:14, 00:49:51.62\00:49:55.96 "For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, 00:49:55.99\00:49:58.09 even so God will bring with Him those who sleep in Jesus." 00:49:58.13\00:50:02.23 That is not, God does not bring him back to the earth. 00:50:02.26\00:50:05.17 When it says, God will bring with him, 00:50:05.20\00:50:06.53 that means when Jesus returns, 00:50:06.57\00:50:08.60 the power of God is drawing the saints 00:50:08.64\00:50:10.91 that were sleeping in the grave to the kingdom, 00:50:10.94\00:50:14.68 not they ain't coming back the first time. 00:50:14.71\00:50:17.55 And verse 15, "For this we say to you by the word of the Lord, 00:50:17.58\00:50:21.48 that we who are alive and remain 00:50:21.52\00:50:24.35 until the coming of the Lord 00:50:24.39\00:50:26.29 will by no means precede those who are asleep. 00:50:26.32\00:50:30.13 For the Lord Himself." 00:50:30.16\00:50:31.49 verse 16 "Will descend from heaven with a shout 00:50:31.53\00:50:34.13 with the voice of an archangel, with the trumpet of God, 00:50:34.16\00:50:36.60 and the dead in Christ will rise first. 00:50:36.63\00:50:38.70 Then we who are alive and remain 00:50:38.73\00:50:41.14 shall be caught up together, 00:50:41.17\00:50:44.41 to with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air." 00:50:44.44\00:50:49.58 Let me hit that point, 00:50:49.61\00:50:51.01 that means the dead didn't meet him yet. 00:50:51.05\00:50:53.21 Mama who died five years ago didn't meet Him. 00:50:53.25\00:50:55.88 Daddy who passed away 15 years ago didn't meet Him. 00:50:55.92\00:51:00.02 The dead in Christ will be brought to life. 00:51:00.06\00:51:02.79 We who are still alive will be caught up with them 00:51:02.82\00:51:05.66 to meet Him. 00:51:05.69\00:51:07.03 There's going to be a resurrection 00:51:07.06\00:51:08.66 and the living saints, 00:51:08.70\00:51:10.03 they're going to meet him together. 00:51:10.07\00:51:11.40 they're not up there shaking hands, 00:51:11.43\00:51:12.77 ''Hey, good to see you, 00:51:12.80\00:51:14.14 I know it was bad circumstances, 00:51:14.17\00:51:15.50 left my family but at least I'm here." 00:51:15.54\00:51:18.01 That's the idea of this whole idea 00:51:18.04\00:51:19.84 they've already gone 00:51:19.87\00:51:21.21 and when you hear songs like, 'They've gone on before' 00:51:21.24\00:51:24.21 you can sing a beautiful song 00:51:24.25\00:51:25.58 but this still doesn't make that doctrinally sound. 00:51:25.61\00:51:27.28 In fact, that's one of my favorite parts 00:51:27.32\00:51:28.65 to do things we do in the funeral service, 00:51:28.68\00:51:31.05 in the memorial service, 00:51:31.09\00:51:32.42 to talk about the great reunion in the sky. 00:51:32.45\00:51:34.02 The great reunion. 00:51:34.06\00:51:35.52 You know some glad morning when this life is over, 00:51:35.56\00:51:38.76 I'll fly away. 00:51:38.79\00:51:40.13 You know just a few more weary days 00:51:40.16\00:51:41.70 and then I'll fly away. 00:51:41.73\00:51:43.33 No you didn't find anywhere. 00:51:43.37\00:51:45.30 You'll not find until Jesus comes back. 00:51:45.33\00:51:47.77 So make it clear. 00:51:47.80\00:51:49.14 You know, when I rise, 00:51:49.17\00:51:52.37 hallelujah by and by I'll fly away, 00:51:52.41\00:51:54.34 not when I die, see the difference. 00:51:54.38\00:51:58.01 They say, ''When you die, you gonna fly away." 00:51:58.05\00:51:59.38 No, when you rise, you're going to fly away. 00:51:59.41\00:52:02.42 So I think we've done a lot on that 00:52:02.45\00:52:03.79 but the point of the matter is, there is no secret rapture, 00:52:03.82\00:52:06.96 nobody's going anywhere. 00:52:06.99\00:52:08.42 And that's why we don't even use the term rapture 00:52:08.46\00:52:10.66 in describing the second coming of Christ. 00:52:10.69\00:52:12.56 The other thing to I mentioned here the taken, 00:52:12.59\00:52:15.56 one taken and the other fall. 00:52:15.60\00:52:18.13 Clearly when we're looking at this both Matthew and Luke 00:52:18.17\00:52:21.17 speak of this event of two being in the field 00:52:21.20\00:52:24.11 or two being grinding at the mill 00:52:24.14\00:52:25.47 or whatever it may be 00:52:25.51\00:52:27.04 and it says one is taken and the other left, 00:52:27.08\00:52:30.48 and the common reference there 00:52:30.51\00:52:31.98 is the coming interpretation there is, 00:52:32.01\00:52:33.92 the one that is taken is taken to heaven, 00:52:33.95\00:52:35.42 the one that is left is left behind. 00:52:35.45\00:52:37.42 That's kind of the whole theory of this dispensational view 00:52:37.45\00:52:40.72 that's built on in the book Left Behind Series, 00:52:40.76\00:52:44.03 a books and so. 00:52:44.06\00:52:45.83 But if you read the passage carefully, 00:52:45.86\00:52:47.56 you're going to see the context here is the days of Noah. 00:52:47.60\00:52:51.33 It says, ''As in the days of Noah 00:52:51.37\00:52:53.60 so will the coming of the Son of Man be. 00:52:53.64\00:52:55.80 And then it goes into the two will be in the field, 00:52:55.84\00:52:58.67 one will be taken, the other left." 00:52:58.71\00:53:00.81 It's interesting because when the disciples heard Jesus 00:53:00.84\00:53:03.24 tell that in Luke 17, what was their question? 00:53:03.28\00:53:08.78 Where are they taken? Where are they taken, Lord? 00:53:08.82\00:53:12.35 That is the question that they asked Jesus-- 00:53:12.39\00:53:14.76 Verse 37. 00:53:14.79\00:53:16.12 All they can think of is, this taken another left. 00:53:16.16\00:53:18.23 And they go where are they taken? 00:53:18.26\00:53:19.59 Because they knew what happened in the days of Noah. 00:53:19.63\00:53:22.33 Ones that were taken in the days of Noah 00:53:22.36\00:53:24.53 were taken by the flood. 00:53:24.57\00:53:25.90 That's right. 00:53:25.93\00:53:27.27 And matter of fact, John, you've got to do this. 00:53:27.30\00:53:29.34 Read Matthew 24:27, you have to read this, 00:53:29.37\00:53:32.71 because this is something that has so many people in the dark 00:53:32.74\00:53:36.18 about this taken and left 00:53:36.21\00:53:38.01 50 to 75 million books have been sold 00:53:38.05\00:53:40.92 to support this taken theory and this left theory, 00:53:40.95\00:53:43.62 and the Bible does not support 00:53:43.65\00:53:45.42 what the theory of the rapturous teach, okay. 00:53:45.45\00:53:49.66 All right, it says in verse 27 of Matthew 24, it says, 00:53:49.69\00:53:52.59 "For as the lightning comes from the east 00:53:52.63\00:53:54.70 and flashes to the west, 00:53:54.73\00:53:56.23 so also will the coming of the Son of Man be." 00:53:56.26\00:53:59.03 Okay. 00:53:59.07\00:54:00.40 And let me go and read in Luke 17. 00:54:00.44\00:54:03.54 Yeah, read the questions 00:54:03.57\00:54:04.91 from where the question of the disciples is. 00:54:04.94\00:54:06.61 "As the days of Noah were--" 00:54:06.64\00:54:08.08 That's the one actually I want to read in Matthew 24, 00:54:08.11\00:54:10.71 "As the days of Noah were 00:54:10.75\00:54:12.35 so, also will the coming of the Son of Man be." 00:54:12.38\00:54:14.62 Okay, here it is and verse 37. 00:54:14.65\00:54:17.75 That's the one right there 37, 00:54:17.79\00:54:19.62 I gave you, Matthew 24:37 read that. 00:54:19.65\00:54:22.36 Yeah, "As in the days of Noah were, 00:54:22.39\00:54:23.73 so will the coming of the Son of Man be." 00:54:23.76\00:54:25.36 Okay, in verse 39. 00:54:25.39\00:54:27.83 "For as in those days before the flood 00:54:27.86\00:54:29.76 they were eating, drinking, 00:54:29.80\00:54:31.13 marrying and giving in marriage, 00:54:31.17\00:54:32.50 until the day that Noah entered the ark, 00:54:32.53\00:54:33.87 and did not know until the flood came 00:54:33.90\00:54:35.24 and took them all away." 00:54:35.27\00:54:37.44 "So also will the coming of the Son of Man be." 00:54:37.47\00:54:39.71 Okay, now Luke 17. Here it is. 00:54:39.74\00:54:44.98 In verse 26 and then 27, "As it was in the days of Noah, 00:54:45.01\00:54:48.25 so will it be also in the days of the Son of Man: 00:54:48.28\00:54:50.75 They ate, they drank, they married wives, 00:54:50.79\00:54:52.85 they were given in marriage, 00:54:52.89\00:54:54.22 until the day that Noah entered the ark, 00:54:54.26\00:54:56.39 and the flood came and destroyed them all." 00:54:56.42\00:54:59.89 But taken away is destruction not deliverance. 00:54:59.93\00:55:04.00 That's right, it's very clear. 00:55:04.03\00:55:05.60 That flood came and destroyed them all, that's what-- 00:55:05.63\00:55:07.94 You just used the proof text method. 00:55:07.97\00:55:12.01 I tell you I shouldn't have-- 00:55:12.04\00:55:13.48 I throw that in there 00:55:13.51\00:55:14.84 because it's got such a bad rap sometimes 00:55:14.88\00:55:17.11 but you compared one scripture with another, 00:55:17.15\00:55:19.15 this is both of the gospel writers 00:55:19.18\00:55:21.32 are recording the same thing that Jesus is saying, 00:55:21.35\00:55:24.09 and they recorded in two different, 00:55:24.12\00:55:25.52 slightly different ways from there where they're hearing 00:55:25.55\00:55:27.66 and for the audience they're writing too. 00:55:27.69\00:55:29.66 And one says ''took them all away." 00:55:29.69\00:55:31.73 The other one says ''destroyed them all." 00:55:31.76\00:55:33.29 And that's what the flood did. 00:55:33.33\00:55:34.66 When the flood took them away, 00:55:34.70\00:55:36.03 it took them away in destruction. 00:55:36.06\00:55:37.40 We know that, that's why verse 35 to 37 very quickly, 00:55:37.43\00:55:40.30 two men will be gathering, grinding together, 00:55:40.34\00:55:42.80 one will be taken, the other left. 00:55:42.84\00:55:44.81 Two women. 00:55:44.84\00:55:46.24 Sorry two women grinding and then verse 36, 00:55:46.27\00:55:48.61 "Two men will be in the field, 00:55:48.64\00:55:50.28 one will be taken and the other left." 00:55:50.31\00:55:52.25 In verse 37, "And they answered and said to him, 00:55:52.28\00:55:55.05 'Where Lord he? 00:55:55.08\00:55:57.99 So he said to them, 00:55:58.02\00:55:59.45 "Wherever, the body is 00:55:59.49\00:56:01.79 there the eagles will be gathered together.'" 00:56:01.82\00:56:05.16 And the eagles there, actually, the word is more vultures. 00:56:05.19\00:56:07.63 Yeah, vultures and buzzards, yeah. 00:56:07.66\00:56:09.46 But eagles also are, they eat scavenges too. 00:56:09.50\00:56:12.50 Eagles are scavenger creatures also, 00:56:12.53\00:56:14.70 but the fact of the matter is, 00:56:14.74\00:56:16.14 you'll know where the water took him 00:56:16.17\00:56:18.57 because, can you imagine, John, after the flood, 00:56:18.61\00:56:23.14 the dinner that was waiting. 00:56:23.18\00:56:24.51 Yeah. Yeah. 00:56:24.55\00:56:25.88 Well, it parallels with the actual event occurring 00:56:25.91\00:56:28.75 in Revelation 19, just go to Revelation 19, 00:56:28.78\00:56:31.19 you'll see the feasts that were of the birds of the air. 00:56:31.22\00:56:34.36 The bodies of men who are gathered there to, 00:56:34.39\00:56:37.03 to be devoured. 00:56:37.06\00:56:38.39 You know, we have less than a minute left, 00:56:38.43\00:56:39.76 let's just iterate the different topics 00:56:39.79\00:56:42.16 that are affected by the dispensational view. 00:56:42.20\00:56:45.43 As we go on, hopefully in future 00:56:45.47\00:56:47.24 things we'll talk about the tribulation period, 00:56:47.27\00:56:49.07 that's the seven years for those that are the tribulate 00:56:49.10\00:56:52.24 or the dispensationalist. 00:56:52.27\00:56:54.78 There's no seven years of tribulation in the Bible. 00:56:54.81\00:56:57.81 There's the resurrection. 00:56:57.85\00:56:59.18 There's all... 00:56:59.21\00:57:00.55 This is where I could not find a lot of agreement 00:57:00.58\00:57:02.18 amongst dispensationalists, it's really confusing to them 00:57:02.22\00:57:04.72 and they have all kinds of things involving that 00:57:04.75\00:57:06.92 the millennium, life in heaven. 00:57:06.96\00:57:11.16 What happens after the millennium? 00:57:11.19\00:57:13.06 Even the little horn in Daniel 00:57:13.09\00:57:14.43 in the futuristic prophecies of the dispensation 00:57:14.46\00:57:16.83 are totally different than the Bible. 00:57:16.87\00:57:18.20 So those are some of the things we'll be covering very soon. 00:57:18.23\00:57:20.74 That's right, and we appreciate that you know, friends, 00:57:20.77\00:57:22.40 there is so much fuel in the Bible. 00:57:22.44\00:57:24.24 We pray that you study the Word of God, 00:57:24.27\00:57:26.07 so that when He does come, you will be ready 00:57:26.11\00:57:28.84 because you've accepted not only Jesus but His truth also. 00:57:28.88\00:57:32.01 God bless you. 00:57:32.05\00:57:33.38
