So what is it?

Well, I think there're some
principles in the Word of God

that we need to
address here first.

in the Old Testament

on several
occasions when addressing sin

God speaks very specifically

about handling certain
sins differently from others.

There is clearly a degree of sin

and in the system of
justice there with Israelites

that God put in place
from the very beginning.

And we have carried
over a lot of that system

even into our own justice system

within the United
States here today.

Where you would have
not the same punishment

for somebody that was
shoplifting in a store,

to someone who'd
murder somebody else.

There was
definitely a different--

There is a different sentence
for those kinds of things.

In fact we call that the
punishment fits the crime.

And so you wouldn't
have the same punishment

This isn't the throne
judgment that God's people,

his followers are part of.

And so it says here in verse 11

"And I saw a great white throne,

and one sitting upon it,

earth and the heaven fled away

those who are the wicked,

throne to be sentenced.

"I can read you like a book."

Well, in this respect God
literally does open their book

the book recording their
life and their life events

and their life
activities and decisions

and he makes the judgment.

He sentences them

written in those books

according to their works.

Now the reason
why they're judged

according to their works

and not the works of Christ

is because they
did not believe in Him.

So Christ's righteousness
was not substituted

to stand in judgment

Where? Lake of fire.

"The lake of fire."
"This is the second death.

everybody goes into
the same lake of fire

but the experience
in that lake of fire

happens to them is different

or has differing degrees
according to their works.

So you would not
say that somebody

such as a Hitler or Idi Amin,

would burn the
same amount as somebody

who was generally a
kind person in this earth

but just did not
believe in Christ

believe that was all of ours.

And in fact really lived
themselves at a selfish means.

But they weren't
murderers. Right.

And so there are different
degrees of judgments here,

statement is used

they were judged
according to their works.

You know, God is a just God

he threw the book at a--

kid who is a first time offender

and the person who
is a repeated offender

that was just not just.

We measure our works
against somebody else's works

and we feel somehow exonerated

that we we're not that bad.

But the Bible says
in Ecclesiastes 12:13-14

the Bible says "Let us hear

the conclusion
of the whole matter.

Fear God, and
keep his commandments

for this is the
whole duty of man.

For God will bring
every work into judgment,

which judgment will be made
