Or Coolidge, Park. 00:00:52.48\00:00:54.36 Coolidge, Park. Our names are so identical 00:00:54.39\00:00:57.10 that we had use derivatives 00:00:57.13\00:00:59.38 just so when we are around our wives, 00:00:59.41\00:01:01.49 we confused each other when Rochelle 00:01:01.52\00:01:03.16 and Angie together and she says John I turned 00:01:03.19\00:01:06.13 and he turns and Angie says John. 00:01:06.16\00:01:07.75 So I called Coolidge and he calls me Parker 00:01:07.78\00:01:11.05 but don't you do that. 00:01:11.08\00:01:12.40 Thank you, for tuning into the program today. 00:01:12.43\00:01:14.32 Get your Bibles, get your family, 00:01:14.35\00:01:15.70 get your pens and sit back 00:01:15.73\00:01:18.03 as we go to another topic today. 00:01:18.06\00:01:19.79 We're gonna talk about something that's very important 00:01:19.82\00:01:21.69 I'm not gonna tell you what it is yet but before 00:01:21.72\00:01:24.48 we do anything we want to just thank you, for tuning in. 00:01:24.51\00:01:26.70 And we're going to have prayer 00:01:26.73\00:01:27.99 so we can ask for the Lord to bless this program. 00:01:28.02\00:01:30.54 John, pray for us. 00:01:30.57\00:01:31.60 Dear Father, we are thankful once again 00:01:31.63\00:01:34.03 to be able to come before Your presence 00:01:34.06\00:01:36.04 and to pray to You. 00:01:36.07\00:01:38.36 God who hears our, our cries, our voice and our, 00:01:38.39\00:01:41.43 our prayers and we just asked that You would respond to us 00:01:41.46\00:01:45.15 as we open up Your word to bring Your spirit 00:01:45.18\00:01:47.80 to lead into to instruct us in Your word 00:01:47.83\00:01:50.69 that we may rightly divide the word of truth. 00:01:50.72\00:01:53.40 Lord it is the good news gospel and we want to make sure 00:01:53.43\00:01:55.93 that is always connected to Jesus our Savior. 00:01:55.96\00:01:58.16 So we submit ourselves into His hand today 00:01:58.19\00:02:01.00 and ask that You would lead us down 00:02:01.03\00:02:03.42 the path of righteousness in Christ name we pray, amen. 00:02:03.45\00:02:06.49 Amen. And as you know 00:02:06.52\00:02:09.06 we always have Bible question, we love to do Bible questions. 00:02:09.09\00:02:12.60 Matter fact that's kind of half our program 00:02:12.63\00:02:15.33 and sometimes we get snail mail, 00:02:15.36\00:02:20.07 other times we get email. 00:02:20.10\00:02:22.82 And--but whatever you send we are thankful 00:02:22.85\00:02:26.75 that you do consider sending. 00:02:26.78\00:02:29.14 I just, I just happened to end up 00:02:29.17\00:02:31.63 by default with all the letters. 00:02:31.66\00:02:34.98 He is so techie, he didn't want to deal with any letters. 00:02:35.01\00:02:37.68 He is the email guy. 00:02:37.71\00:02:39.04 So what you have, Mr. Email guy? 00:02:39.07\00:02:41.92 Well, I'm got a question that we've been asked before 00:02:41.95\00:02:44.14 but it's been sometime that we've since we've answered it. 00:02:44.17\00:02:47.37 Okay. The question comes 00:02:47.40\00:02:50.19 from Connie and she says, "my husband said 00:02:50.22\00:02:53.95 that he thought Romans 14 was about the Sabbath, 00:02:53.98\00:02:56.60 when it first, two days-- when it refers two days, 00:02:56.63\00:02:59.43 so I told him it's not, it's about feasters or eating. 00:02:59.46\00:03:03.91 I read in verses 1-4, so he must've mentioned 00:03:03.94\00:03:08.48 that to a leader of the program at his church 00:03:08.51\00:03:12.25 that he was a part of and the guy said, 00:03:12.28\00:03:14.76 that he would like to know our church's view on Romans 14. 00:03:14.79\00:03:18.16 So can you please explain that?" 00:03:18.19\00:03:20.49 Okay. This is a same question 00:03:20.52\00:03:22.51 that I was asked actually by one of my pastor friends 00:03:22.54\00:03:27.95 that I met at an area church that I was pastoring 00:03:27.98\00:03:32.11 and he was pastoring another denomination 00:03:32.14\00:03:34.28 and he said you know, I sincerely want to know 00:03:34.31\00:03:36.13 your view on several things. 00:03:36.16\00:03:38.57 And he said, would you-- if I sent an email and asked you 00:03:38.60\00:03:40.88 some questions would you be able to respond to that? 00:03:40.91\00:03:42.47 And I said, sure. 00:03:42.50\00:03:44.39 So this is one of the things he asked me, 00:03:44.42\00:03:46.23 can you please expound on I think he said, 00:03:46.26\00:03:49.24 Ephesians 2, Colossians 2 and Romans 14. 00:03:49.27\00:03:53.42 Okay. Those are the key passages 00:03:53.45\00:03:55.01 that he wanted to know my interpretation 00:03:55.04\00:03:56.82 of and our churches interpretation. 00:03:56.85\00:03:58.37 And so what he didn't expect is my 19 page letter 00:03:58.40\00:04:03.82 that was the reply that went back to him. 00:04:03.85\00:04:05.57 But he went through the whole thing. 00:04:05.60\00:04:07.07 I mean--I mean I really I gave him credit 00:04:07.10\00:04:08.67 for that and he was an honest seeker and so, 00:04:08.70\00:04:10.54 you know, pray for him. 00:04:10.57\00:04:12.93 Anyway so let's go into Romans Chapter 14. 00:04:12.96\00:04:16.03 All right. Is the Sabbath in here, 00:04:16.06\00:04:18.40 first of all its the question that is being asked 00:04:18.43\00:04:21.86 and if its not what is Paul talking about in Romans 14? 00:04:21.89\00:04:26.61 All right. So John, 00:04:26.64\00:04:27.77 let's start with verse 1. 00:04:27.80\00:04:30.03 "Receive one who is weak in the faith, 00:04:30.06\00:04:32.34 but not to disputes over doubtful things." 00:04:32.37\00:04:35.47 Okay, that's good opening statement here because I think 00:04:35.50\00:04:40.18 the Paul's encouragement here of the saints 00:04:40.21\00:04:43.05 is not to get into arguments over things 00:04:43.08\00:04:46.30 that really don't matter. 00:04:46.33\00:04:48.17 Don't, don't really have a huge barring 00:04:48.20\00:04:50.99 on the over all Christian life and how you walk 00:04:51.02\00:04:53.93 and give yourself to following God and His teachings. 00:04:53.96\00:04:58.04 And so this is the opening statement 00:04:58.07\00:05:00.62 in a way tells us that what follows 00:05:00.65\00:05:03.11 is not a major issue within Christendom. 00:05:03.14\00:05:05.88 It's not a major teaching within Christendom. 00:05:05.91\00:05:08.20 And so the question there first of all is, 00:05:08.23\00:05:10.45 is the Sabbath number one, 00:05:10.48\00:05:13.29 one of the major teachings of the Christian faith? 00:05:13.32\00:05:16.56 And we would advocate of course of that is because it's, 00:05:16.59\00:05:19.17 it's one of the Ten Commandments. 00:05:19.20\00:05:20.82 Although some feels it's the ten suggestions these days 00:05:20.85\00:05:23.24 but it's the fourth commandment that you keep part of that. 00:05:23.27\00:05:25.54 So it's not a doubtful thing. 00:05:25.57\00:05:28.52 Verse 2, "For one believe that he may eat all things 00:05:28.55\00:05:32.48 but he who is weak, eats only vegetables. 00:05:32.51\00:05:35.17 Let not him who eats despise him who does eat 00:05:35.20\00:05:38.09 and let not him who does not eat 00:05:38.12\00:05:39.77 judge him who eats for God has received him. 00:05:39.80\00:05:43.36 Who are you to judge another servant? 00:05:43.39\00:05:45.95 To his own master he stands or falls indeed 00:05:45.98\00:05:48.74 he will be made the stand for God 00:05:48.77\00:05:50.90 is able to make him stand. 00:05:50.93\00:05:53.28 One person esteems one day above another, 00:05:53.31\00:05:57.81 another esteems everyday alike. 00:05:57.84\00:05:59.69 Let each be fully convinced in his own mind. 00:05:59.72\00:06:02.14 He who observes the day observes it to the Lord 00:06:02.17\00:06:04.54 and he who does not observe the day to the Lord 00:06:04.57\00:06:06.82 he does not observe it. 00:06:06.85\00:06:08.02 He eats, eats to the Lord for he gives God 00:06:08.05\00:06:10.92 thanks and he who does not eat to the Lord, 00:06:10.95\00:06:14.88 he does not eat and gives God thanks." 00:06:14.91\00:06:18.58 So the issue here clearly ascended 00:06:18.61\00:06:20.63 around this issue, issue of eating. 00:06:20.66\00:06:22.23 And there are couple issues 00:06:22.26\00:06:24.02 involved with eating in those days. 00:06:24.05\00:06:26.36 And they were certainly many dietary laws 00:06:26.39\00:06:29.89 that were coming in through the Jews 00:06:29.92\00:06:32.40 in the Jewish traditions that they had. 00:06:32.43\00:06:34.26 And you have in the church today that Paul is writing 00:06:34.29\00:06:37.19 or in this day the Paul is writing to you have 00:06:37.22\00:06:39.79 in the church a blending, which seems like a perfect 00:06:39.82\00:06:42.89 description for disaster which have a blending of Jews 00:06:42.92\00:06:46.22 and their traditions in their teachings and the Gentiles 00:06:46.25\00:06:49.32 which have no traditional teachings 00:06:49.35\00:06:52.82 from the word of God who are new converts. 00:06:52.85\00:06:55.34 And there is this blending together 00:06:55.37\00:06:57.28 and they're supposed to become one. 00:06:57.31\00:06:58.66 Now do you think that was challenging? 00:06:58.69\00:07:00.46 Oh, unequivocal. Just to say the least 00:07:00.49\00:07:03.99 in fact most of many, I should say 00:07:04.02\00:07:06.52 of the letters of Paul, are given in regard 00:07:06.55\00:07:09.38 to their fighting about the traditions 00:07:09.41\00:07:11.77 and their teachings. That's right. 00:07:11.80\00:07:13.43 And this is one of those and he is trying to say 00:07:13.46\00:07:16.01 don't dispute and argue over these things 00:07:16.04\00:07:18.66 that are traditional or that are teachings 00:07:18.69\00:07:21.46 under the old covenant system that the Jews had. 00:07:21.49\00:07:27.60 And so this in regard to eating 00:07:27.63\00:07:29.15 could be a one of the couple things. 00:07:29.18\00:07:30.37 It could be a situation 00:07:30.40\00:07:31.67 where there are not to eat food offered to idols, okay. 00:07:31.70\00:07:35.83 That is one of the issues that the Jews 00:07:35.86\00:07:38.71 would not touch food that was offer 00:07:38.74\00:07:42.48 to other idols and other Gods. 00:07:42.51\00:07:44.91 Or number two this is issue of, of fasting. 00:07:44.94\00:07:48.58 There was a process the Jews went through of fasting 00:07:48.61\00:07:52.28 to God and they during fasting would not eat anything 00:07:52.31\00:07:56.15 or they limited what they ate. 00:07:56.18\00:07:59.09 There were different ways they fast and there seems 00:07:59.12\00:08:01.08 to be some illusions there to that is well. 00:08:01.11\00:08:03.33 So certainly what we're talking about 00:08:03.36\00:08:05.67 here doesn't seem to be connected 00:08:05.70\00:08:07.20 to the commandments or the Sabbath day 00:08:07.23\00:08:09.34 but it's connected to traditions or teachings 00:08:09.37\00:08:12.21 that come from the Jews as the church 00:08:12.24\00:08:15.13 was formed in its early state. 00:08:15.16\00:08:17.58 And these were primarily, when you look at the transition 00:08:17.61\00:08:21.64 of the two, let's just kind of give 00:08:21.67\00:08:24.02 a little bit history and you did give some of the history. 00:08:24.05\00:08:26.27 The Jews thought themselves to be superior in many respects. 00:08:26.30\00:08:30.68 You know, we've got the feast days, 00:08:30.71\00:08:32.92 we observed the new moons, we have the many Sabbath feast, 00:08:32.95\00:08:36.95 you know, the seven not only 00:08:36.98\00:08:38.89 the seventh day Sabbath which was given to all humanity. 00:08:38.92\00:08:41.92 But they had the seven week, the seven months, 00:08:41.95\00:08:44.83 the seven years and they had the periodical Sabbath 00:08:44.86\00:08:47.79 that had different, at the Feast of Tabernacles, 00:08:47.82\00:08:49.91 at the Feast of Unleavened Breads, 00:08:49.94\00:08:51.12 The Feast of Firstfruits, the Day of Atonement. 00:08:51.15\00:08:54.53 They had all these observances that were referred 00:08:54.56\00:08:57.18 to as "Sabbaths" pluralized. 00:08:57.21\00:09:00.28 In Leviticus Chapter 23 outlines all of those observances. 00:09:00.31\00:09:04.54 So now all of a sudden these observances 00:09:04.57\00:09:07.23 were designed to point to the work 00:09:07.26\00:09:08.81 that Christ was going to accomplish. 00:09:08.84\00:09:10.91 So Christ comes but what you have now 00:09:10.94\00:09:13.48 as you have people that from more than 2,000 years 00:09:13.51\00:09:15.41 have been keeping all these feasts. 00:09:15.44\00:09:16.79 You know, they sow custom 00:09:16.82\00:09:18.13 to all these feasts but then the lamb 00:09:18.16\00:09:20.24 who was a part of these feast 00:09:20.27\00:09:22.17 now comes in the person of Christ. 00:09:22.20\00:09:24.13 The lamb slain from foundation of the world, 00:09:24.16\00:09:26.03 the lighting of candles which is so much part of these feasts, 00:09:26.06\00:09:29.45 in the Feast of Tabernacles they light the candles 00:09:29.48\00:09:31.94 for seven day but all of the sudden 00:09:31.97\00:09:33.69 the light of the world comes now in the person of Christ. 00:09:33.72\00:09:36.63 The Unleavened Bread that they broke at these feasts 00:09:36.66\00:09:39.12 without any yeast in it, that they partook 00:09:39.15\00:09:41.19 of even and they are past over supper 00:09:41.22\00:09:43.03 was so much a part of their tradition 00:09:43.06\00:09:45.05 that they even try to indict the disciples 00:09:45.08\00:09:47.15 as to going into the temple, he didn't--I mean, 00:09:47.18\00:09:50.57 eating grain during the feel in the Sabbath. 00:09:50.60\00:09:53.17 And the Lord says, don't you remember 00:09:53.20\00:09:54.47 that David ate this bread? 00:09:54.50\00:09:56.31 Well, the point of the matter is if you're hungry 00:09:56.34\00:09:58.80 that's what you do, you eat bread. 00:09:58.83\00:10:00.39 But He said, but this bread is only for a specific purpose. 00:10:00.42\00:10:03.54 The Lord said, and the major purpose is, 00:10:03.57\00:10:05.50 you're hungry eat it. 00:10:05.53\00:10:07.33 See they try to indict David in that respect. 00:10:07.36\00:10:09.36 So, but now all of the sudden the bread comes 00:10:09.39\00:10:11.51 in the person of Christ the bread of life. 00:10:11.54\00:10:13.56 So now the-- so the Gentiles receives Jesus 00:10:13.59\00:10:17.53 the bread of life, Jesus the water of life, 00:10:17.56\00:10:19.89 Jesus the life of the world, Jesus the lamb slain 00:10:19.92\00:10:22.88 from the foundation of the world. 00:10:22.91\00:10:24.32 And the Jews are saying, wait a minute, 00:10:24.35\00:10:25.63 wait a minute, wait a minute. 00:10:25.66\00:10:26.83 What about the feast? 00:10:26.86\00:10:29.98 The Lord says, look okay, Paul says, look okay, 00:10:30.01\00:10:32.86 you esteem one day above another, 00:10:32.89\00:10:35.14 to them all days are alike. 00:10:35.17\00:10:37.45 You've need to eat certain things the unleavened, 00:10:37.48\00:10:40.86 the vegetables, the bitter herbs all that stuff, 00:10:40.89\00:10:43.43 which is all part of their ceremonials. 00:10:43.46\00:10:45.85 But to them hey, it doesn't matter. 00:10:45.88\00:10:49.40 So this is primarily pointing out these traditions 00:10:49.43\00:10:53.04 that were heavily emphasized by the Jews. 00:10:53.07\00:10:56.81 But when they came down to it, when they came down to it, 00:10:56.84\00:11:00.46 Paul round this up by saying, look at verse 10 00:11:00.49\00:11:03.81 and this is where I want to end. 00:11:03.84\00:11:05.96 This is why want to-- verse 8 to 10 00:11:05.99\00:11:09.17 is what I want to institute and this is show you that really 00:11:09.20\00:11:11.60 the whole focus, Paul was saying, it's Christ. 00:11:11.63\00:11:13.64 Guys choose whatever you want, 00:11:13.67\00:11:15.32 the whole focus is Christ. 00:11:15.35\00:11:16.52 He was binomial letter writing the weekly Sabbath. 00:11:16.55\00:11:19.86 "He says for if we live in" verse 8 of Romans 14, 00:11:19.89\00:11:23.36 "We live to the Lord and if we die, 00:11:23.39\00:11:25.51 we die to the Lord therefore whether we live 00:11:25.54\00:11:27.75 or we die we are the Lord's. 00:11:27.78\00:11:29.46 He says, for to this end Christ died 00:11:29.49\00:11:32.01 and rose again that He might be Lord 00:11:32.04\00:11:34.93 of both the dead and the living. 00:11:34.96\00:11:36.94 But what you judge your brother? 00:11:36.97\00:11:39.93 Or why do you show contempt for your brother? 00:11:39.96\00:11:42.28 For we shall all stand before the judgment seat of Christ." 00:11:42.31\00:11:48.41 Yeah. You're judging Him about this day, 00:11:48.44\00:11:50.92 you're judging the about the feast, 00:11:50.95\00:11:53.10 you're judging about whether or not 00:11:53.13\00:11:54.23 to eat vegetables, hey, the bottom line is, 00:11:54.26\00:11:57.03 your diet is not going to save you from the judgment. 00:11:57.06\00:11:59.47 We all gonna about to stand there. 00:11:59.50\00:12:01.30 So he's not obliterating the weekly Sabbath, 00:12:01.33\00:12:03.50 he is saying, guys Jew, gentile what matters is Christ. 00:12:03.53\00:12:07.64 And the weekly Sabbath really isn't an issue here. 00:12:07.67\00:12:09.81 He even talked about it hear. 00:12:09.84\00:12:10.87 In fact the early church or you look at the Book of Acts 00:12:10.90\00:12:13.18 there is a clear delineation between the Sabbath 00:12:13.21\00:12:16.10 and the first day of the week. 00:12:16.13\00:12:18.38 Right. The Sabbath has mentioned 00:12:18.41\00:12:19.71 many, many times is to, when the Jews and Gentiles 00:12:19.74\00:12:21.82 came together to worship. 00:12:21.85\00:12:22.95 The Sabbath never changed. 00:12:22.98\00:12:24.23 No, they didn't ambitious with that. 00:12:24.26\00:12:25.41 Even in the transition from the Jewish system 00:12:25.44\00:12:27.13 to the early church the Sabbath never changed. 00:12:27.16\00:12:29.13 The seventh will still the same. 00:12:29.16\00:12:30.47 That's right. It was a Sabbath, 00:12:30.50\00:12:31.57 it was according to the Lord of the Sabbath 00:12:31.60\00:12:35.25 whom they worshiped. 00:12:35.28\00:12:36.52 The first day of the week some other things happened 00:12:36.55\00:12:38.66 on a couple occasions there in Acts but overwhelmingly 00:12:38.69\00:12:41.09 the Sabbath is when they came together. 00:12:41.12\00:12:43.31 And so if you look at that and that is a tradition 00:12:43.34\00:12:46.30 of the early church now, that wouldn't be an issue 00:12:46.33\00:12:50.23 that they were disputing here. 00:12:50.26\00:12:51.38 No that's not the issue. 00:12:51.41\00:12:52.44 It was indisputable, it was un-doubtful. 00:12:52.47\00:12:54.12 The only came into doubt over centuries later 00:12:54.15\00:12:59.12 when Rome came in and through the, it is by constantly 00:12:59.15\00:13:03.15 another things there was a day of festivity 00:13:03.18\00:13:05.65 that was setup along side of the Sabbath day 00:13:05.68\00:13:07.48 which was the first day of the week. 00:13:07.51\00:13:08.99 And then slowly over time the tradition changed 00:13:09.02\00:13:11.62 that Sabbath which was then begin to be thought 00:13:11.65\00:13:14.99 of the some Jewish tradition over to Sunday 00:13:15.02\00:13:18.11 which then become the tradition of the church 00:13:18.14\00:13:21.01 and its worship services. That's right. 00:13:21.04\00:13:22.66 And so that's only when the dispute happen. 00:13:22.69\00:13:25.19 But here at this time, just one day just the Sabbath. 00:13:25.22\00:13:28.00 You know, there is no issue. 00:13:28.03\00:13:29.06 Matter fact, the Jews, the Gentiles, 00:13:29.09\00:13:31.84 the Greeks whenever the sermons 00:13:31.87\00:13:33.68 were being preached in the itinerant schedule of Paul 00:13:33.71\00:13:36.58 and Barnabas and, and Mark and John 00:13:36.61\00:13:40.04 they came on the Sabbath to hear these words 00:13:40.07\00:13:42.48 being preached to them. 00:13:42.51\00:13:43.78 It was no issue there so no it's not that. 00:13:43.81\00:13:46.14 The focus of this was, my brother, 00:13:46.17\00:13:48.54 my sister make sure that your focus is Christ. 00:13:48.57\00:13:51.44 Because even, let me just even take it to the next level. 00:13:51.47\00:13:55.15 Even if you are a strong healthy individual 00:13:55.18\00:13:59.11 doing all the things that the Bible encourages 00:13:59.14\00:14:02.14 you to do as for as your health is concerned, 00:14:02.17\00:14:04.04 your salvation is not based on your health, 00:14:04.07\00:14:06.75 it's still based on Jesus Christ. 00:14:06.78\00:14:09.90 That's right. That's a bottom 00:14:09.93\00:14:11.11 on you can't escape that. 00:14:11.14\00:14:12.51 And I would also balance this with one last statement. 00:14:12.54\00:14:14.46 Let's make sure as well that when we are listening 00:14:14.49\00:14:18.40 and changing thoughts and the word with each other 00:14:18.43\00:14:22.80 and trying to arrive at the truth, 00:14:22.83\00:14:24.97 that we don't interpret somebody 00:14:25.00\00:14:28.00 who is sharing something that appears 00:14:28.03\00:14:29.81 to be truth, that's in our position to. 00:14:29.84\00:14:31.91 What we have always done, 00:14:31.94\00:14:32.97 let's not interpret that as judging us. 00:14:33.00\00:14:35.49 Right. Because just--just because 00:14:35.52\00:14:37.85 you hear truth that convicts your heart 00:14:37.88\00:14:40.15 that you're doing wrong and that you need to align 00:14:40.18\00:14:43.23 yourself with what the word says to do 00:14:43.26\00:14:45.19 what's in harmony with God's will. 00:14:45.22\00:14:47.26 Doesn't mean, the person sharing 00:14:47.29\00:14:48.94 that with you is judging you. Right. 00:14:48.97\00:14:50.88 He's simply sharing what he's learned 00:14:50.91\00:14:53.13 from the word of God 00:14:53.16\00:14:54.33 and he's asking you to follow that as well. 00:14:54.36\00:14:56.18 That's all. The judging that has been 00:14:56.21\00:14:58.93 talked about here in Romans 14 00:14:58.96\00:15:00.40 is that the whole different level, 00:15:00.43\00:15:02.35 it's a whole different thing. 00:15:02.38\00:15:04.12 And that the Jews were seeing the Gentiles 00:15:04.15\00:15:06.73 as not worthy of being in church as they what doing 00:15:06.76\00:15:10.78 the things as they should do them 00:15:10.81\00:15:12.42 and they were judging their salvation 00:15:12.45\00:15:14.24 their position with God. 00:15:14.27\00:15:16.36 And we have-even in this program 00:15:16.39\00:15:19.08 we've never done that. 00:15:19.11\00:15:20.63 We've saying all people who are honest seekers of truth 00:15:20.66\00:15:23.23 as God's children. That's right. 00:15:23.26\00:15:24.98 And we just simply are sharing the words 00:15:25.01\00:15:26.27 that they might follow Him more fully. 00:15:26.30\00:15:27.97 And that is, it's shouldn't be interpreted 00:15:28.00\00:15:29.92 his judging but, but hoping 00:15:29.95\00:15:32.75 to shade light on the word of God. 00:15:32.78\00:15:35.04 Wow, thank you for that one, John. 00:15:35.07\00:15:37.82 Question here, you hear many ministers 00:15:37.85\00:15:40.60 say that God the Father and God 00:15:40.63\00:15:42.45 the son Jesus are one on the same. 00:15:42.48\00:15:44.81 That cannot be true. 00:15:44.84\00:15:46.30 Because Jesus did not pray to Himself, 00:15:46.33\00:15:48.73 didn't talk to Himself and didn't resurrect Himself. 00:15:48.76\00:15:54.43 Plus when Jesus was baptized God the Father 00:15:54.46\00:15:56.82 said this is my beloved son in which I am well-pleased. 00:15:56.85\00:16:01.49 So if I look at this, I think this person 00:16:01.52\00:16:04.40 is really asking for a reiteration or strengthening 00:16:04.43\00:16:06.84 from the scriptures of the fact that God 00:16:06.87\00:16:09.26 and the--that the Father and that the Son 00:16:09.29\00:16:11.85 and that the Holy Spirit are not all 00:16:11.88\00:16:15.31 blended up into one individual. 00:16:15.34\00:16:17.18 I think that's what the person is saying. 00:16:17.21\00:16:18.63 And so in response to your, 00:16:18.66\00:16:19.98 your question or your statement, yes, yes. 00:16:20.01\00:16:25.83 There is no blending of the three together. 00:16:25.86\00:16:27.86 Matter of fact what I like to do is begin with the scripture, 00:16:27.89\00:16:30.28 that you're alluded to here in Matthew Chapter 3, 00:16:30.31\00:16:33.22 one of the most beautiful scriptures showing 00:16:33.25\00:16:35.59 and affirming the fact that, that there is a distinction 00:16:35.62\00:16:40.30 in body, there is a distinction 00:16:40.33\00:16:42.83 between the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. 00:16:42.86\00:16:49.28 Verse 16, "Then Jesus, when He was baptized, 00:16:49.31\00:16:54.22 came up immediately from the water, 00:16:54.25\00:16:56.51 and behold, the heavens were opened to Him, 00:16:56.54\00:16:59.58 and He saw the Spirit of God descending 00:16:59.61\00:17:02.31 like a dove and alighting upon Him. 00:17:02.34\00:17:05.81 And suddenly a voice came from heaven, 00:17:05.84\00:17:08.69 saying, 'This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.'" 00:17:08.72\00:17:13.42 Pointing out a few things right away here, 00:17:13.45\00:17:15.37 the spirit is also referred to as God, the spirit of God. 00:17:15.40\00:17:19.25 And then the Father is, the Father, God the Father. 00:17:19.28\00:17:23.87 So you have the spirit, you have the Father 00:17:23.90\00:17:26.69 and you have Jesus who's being baptized separate and distinct. 00:17:26.72\00:17:31.04 Yet one in purpose, one in mission, 00:17:31.07\00:17:34.71 one in the God head. 00:17:34.74\00:17:37.62 So that's something that often times--John, 00:17:37.65\00:17:40.68 I think the challenge here, that's coming up 00:17:40.71\00:17:42.52 as they are some who teach manifestations of God. 00:17:42.55\00:17:46.07 They are some that teach in the beginning God, 00:17:46.10\00:17:48.44 created heavens and the earth. 00:17:48.47\00:17:49.87 And then latter on God metamorphosed into Jesus, 00:17:49.90\00:17:53.87 then Jesus metamorphosed into the Holy Spirit 00:17:53.90\00:17:56.89 or and then there is a second view that people 00:17:56.92\00:17:59.61 say well God is almighty than Jesus is mighty 00:17:59.64\00:18:04.08 and the Holy Spirit is just a force. 00:18:04.11\00:18:06.44 That's, that's the second rendition. 00:18:06.47\00:18:08.14 Then they have those that say, well, you know, 00:18:08.17\00:18:10.61 there is no such thing as the Holy Spirit 00:18:10.64\00:18:13.33 because that he just an active force. 00:18:13.36\00:18:15.86 That's just his force are wind 00:18:15.89\00:18:17.27 that is used by God to impress us. 00:18:17.30\00:18:20.26 And those are-- those two that I just mentioned 00:18:20.29\00:18:23.04 or the three I just mentioned are incorrect. 00:18:23.07\00:18:24.79 The true, the truism of this is, yes God the Father 00:18:24.82\00:18:28.50 and His Son Jesus Christ eternal fully existent, 00:18:28.53\00:18:33.18 fully divine from the beginning through out 00:18:33.21\00:18:38.06 the ceaseless ages of eternity. 00:18:38.09\00:18:39.83 They have no beginning, they have no end, 00:18:39.86\00:18:41.51 the Holy Spirit also in the very same way. 00:18:41.54\00:18:43.56 So the Godhead is not a--hey, 00:18:43.59\00:18:45.98 when did the Godhead get created, 00:18:46.01\00:18:47.50 that's a question that none of us can ever 00:18:47.53\00:18:50.60 have an answer to not in this life. 00:18:50.63\00:18:52.50 You know, when did the son get created, 00:18:52.53\00:18:54.84 a person may wake up or be blown and in five years 00:18:54.87\00:18:58.15 they say, mom I have the question. 00:18:58.18\00:18:59.37 When did the sun get created? 00:18:59.40\00:19:00.92 And just say, as long as I have been here it has been there. 00:19:00.95\00:19:04.67 So in the very same sense, theses are questions 00:19:04.70\00:19:07.80 that may be answered in eternity 00:19:07.83\00:19:09.58 but these are not questions that I challenged 00:19:09.61\00:19:13.60 I would suggest that we even try to fine 00:19:13.63\00:19:16.71 a pinpoint specific accuracy for. 00:19:16.74\00:19:19.35 But is God the Father and the son the same? 00:19:19.38\00:19:22.61 In many respects they are but when he came to the mission 00:19:22.64\00:19:26.13 of Jesus and this way the separation came in. 00:19:26.16\00:19:28.64 When Jesus came to the earth, 00:19:28.67\00:19:31.04 He did not lose His divinity, He clothed His divinity. 00:19:31.07\00:19:35.15 But then He took on human flesh 00:19:35.18\00:19:36.89 and the difference between the Father and the Son 00:19:36.92\00:19:39.52 is now forever Jesus will manifest 00:19:39.55\00:19:42.73 our human-- He will have a human likeness a body like ours. 00:19:42.76\00:19:47.50 But perfect and sinless and completely divine, 00:19:47.53\00:19:52.38 He came to be like us. 00:19:52.41\00:19:53.69 The Bible says, "When the fullness 00:19:53.72\00:19:55.31 of time at come" Galatians 4:4, 00:19:55.34\00:19:56.80 "God sent forth his son, born of a woman." 00:19:56.83\00:19:59.97 And the Bible says a body that has prepared. 00:20:00.00\00:20:03.13 So this divine one came in the likeness of human flesh 00:20:03.16\00:20:06.97 for the purpose of taking on our sin and paying our ransom 00:20:07.00\00:20:10.81 and being-- and fulfilling His role 00:20:10.84\00:20:13.43 as the redeemer of the world. 00:20:13.46\00:20:15.28 So forever He is going to maintain 00:20:15.31\00:20:16.70 the mark of the crucifixion, forever He will be designated 00:20:16.73\00:20:19.95 as the Son of God and the Son of man 00:20:19.98\00:20:23.18 throughout the ceaseless ages of eternity. 00:20:23.21\00:20:25.36 Amen, amen. Very good. 00:20:25.39\00:20:28.03 So, anything else you have for us? 00:20:28.06\00:20:29.28 No, I think you explained that very well. 00:20:29.31\00:20:32.71 I think we had one question, that-- 00:20:32.74\00:20:36.53 Oh yes, oh yes. 00:20:36.56\00:20:37.95 It shouldn't take too long. Daniel 9. 00:20:37.98\00:20:39.31 But a question regard to-- 00:20:39.34\00:20:40.86 The 70 week. Yeah, 70 weeks. Yeah. 00:20:40.89\00:20:41.96 Very good question. 00:20:41.99\00:20:43.02 Dear, John and John. 00:20:43.05\00:20:44.25 Which one does he mean? 00:20:44.28\00:20:46.61 Well, am I first or you're first? 00:20:46.64\00:20:49.20 Okay, our friend has attempted 00:20:49.23\00:20:50.99 to persuade me on the merits of futurist 00:20:51.02\00:20:53.23 position on-- the futurist position 00:20:53.26\00:20:55.66 of the 70 week prophecy in Daniel 9. 00:20:55.69\00:20:58.35 He has given me a pamphlet to read which discusses 00:20:58.38\00:21:02.22 the command which sets the 70 weeks 00:21:02.25\00:21:05.73 in motion found in Daniel 9:25. 00:21:05.76\00:21:08.81 I quoted from the pamphlet and here is the quote. 00:21:08.84\00:21:11.78 There are four possible decrees 00:21:11.81\00:21:15.33 that have to do with the restoration of the Jews 00:21:15.36\00:21:18.02 from the Babylonian captivity as recorded in scripture. 00:21:18.05\00:21:21.74 First, the decree of Cyrus, to rebuild the temple 00:21:21.77\00:21:24.79 in the second chronicle, secondly, the decree of Darius, 00:21:24.82\00:21:30.99 conforming the decree of Cyrus, 00:21:31.02\00:21:33.24 thirdly, the decree of Artaxerxes 00:21:33.27\00:21:36.33 and the fourth the decree of Artaxerxes 00:21:36.36\00:21:38.71 given to Nehemiah authorizing the rebuilding of the city. 00:21:38.74\00:21:42.31 The first three decrees refer only to the rebuilding 00:21:42.34\00:21:45.26 of the temple and do not make the conditions 00:21:45.29\00:21:47.80 set forth by Daniel in Daniel 9:25 00:21:47.83\00:21:50.82 to restore and build Jerusalem. 00:21:50.85\00:21:53.18 Only the decree given to Nehemiah in 445 BC 00:21:53.21\00:21:56.24 relates to the rebuilding of the city. 00:21:56.27\00:21:59.02 My question-- here is the question. 00:21:59.05\00:22:00.84 Although, the futurist begin the 70 weeks 00:22:00.87\00:22:03.30 at 445 BC I know that the decree of Artaxerxes in 457 BC 00:22:03.33\00:22:08.67 is actually the correct command 00:22:08.70\00:22:10.93 to set forth the 70 weeks in motion. 00:22:10.96\00:22:13.02 How do we determine that this is the accurate 00:22:13.05\00:22:16.51 and true decree-- first as the other 00:22:16.54\00:22:20.31 three decrees mentioned above? 00:22:20.34\00:22:22.27 Thank you, for your response. 00:22:22.30\00:22:23.69 I love this question. 00:22:23.72\00:22:25.38 This is by the way an entire program question 00:22:25.41\00:22:27.52 we're going to seek to squeeze the grapefruit juice out 00:22:27.55\00:22:30.26 of that very quickly here. 00:22:30.29\00:22:31.64 But go to Daniel 9, very quickly with me. 00:22:31.67\00:22:34.37 Daniel 9, one of the things you have to keep in mind is, 00:22:34.40\00:22:38.32 in posing the questions they've already given the answer. 00:22:38.35\00:22:43.70 How do you give the answer? 00:22:43.73\00:22:45.35 Clearly simple. Let me use a human analogy 00:22:45.38\00:22:48.24 then I will jump to the scriptures 00:22:48.27\00:22:50.35 to give the point very strongly emphasized. 00:22:50.38\00:22:53.82 If somebody said, my birthday--if somebody says 00:22:53.85\00:22:57.25 John's birthday that is my birthday 00:22:57.28\00:22:59.63 is on the 7th month, the 30th day 00:22:59.66\00:23:02.67 of the month of the year. 00:23:02.70\00:23:05.68 The question will be well what is the, how do you, 00:23:05.71\00:23:09.02 what is the first month of the year. 00:23:09.05\00:23:11.81 Now in the Jewish economy they had a civil calendar, 00:23:11.84\00:23:15.32 they had a religious calendar. 00:23:15.35\00:23:18.32 When you look at these all these, 00:23:18.35\00:23:20.35 decrees given out Artaxerxes, Cyrus, Darius, 00:23:20.38\00:23:23.27 in order for you to come to how which one fits well 00:23:23.30\00:23:26.28 is you've got to look at the timeline. 00:23:26.31\00:23:28.56 And have you ever seen, John, have you ever seen-- 00:23:28.59\00:23:32.92 remember when people use these transparencies. 00:23:32.95\00:23:35.10 And they would place those transparencies 00:23:35.13\00:23:37.04 on a reflective light and then they'll reflect 00:23:37.07\00:23:39.73 the transparencies on the screen 00:23:39.76\00:23:41.58 and as they put together a piece of art. 00:23:41.61\00:23:45.24 First, they'll put the head of the art 00:23:45.27\00:23:47.19 on the transparency then they'll put another transparency 00:23:47.22\00:23:50.27 and they measured up all the corners together. 00:23:50.30\00:23:53.17 Like that they'll match the corners up together. 00:23:53.20\00:23:55.15 And then you go from just to head-alone to neck. 00:23:55.18\00:23:58.02 Then you'll put another transparency the arms, 00:23:58.05\00:23:59.72 and all because when you do that to the prophecy, 00:23:59.75\00:24:03.12 when you begin with the year 457 BC 00:24:03.15\00:24:05.84 and follow every component mentioned, 00:24:05.87\00:24:09.07 every timeline, mentioned in Daniel 00:24:09.10\00:24:11.74 and they all match every single one. 00:24:11.77\00:24:14.73 The only one, that could fit is the decree 00:24:14.76\00:24:18.74 given by Artaxerxes to restore and to rebuild Jerusalem. 00:24:18.77\00:24:22.99 That's 457 BC but somebody was suggesting 445. 00:24:23.02\00:24:28.10 No, the reason why that is not the date is because 00:24:28.13\00:24:30.95 you see as the building continued 00:24:30.98\00:24:33.85 there was a brief halting. 00:24:33.88\00:24:35.70 It wasn't completed right away. 00:24:35.73\00:24:38.82 It wasn't completed immediately. 00:24:38.85\00:24:41.36 Right. There was a stage 00:24:41.39\00:24:43.21 where walls are broken down 00:24:43.24\00:24:44.84 and you read that in the book of Nehemiah 00:24:44.87\00:24:46.57 where people were in disrepair, where they were discouraged. 00:24:46.60\00:24:49.08 They got discouraged, yeah. 00:24:49.11\00:24:50.22 They got discouraged. 00:24:50.25\00:24:51.28 And so to close up all the gaps that were remaining in the world 00:24:51.31\00:24:54.66 as what Nehemiah's commission was. 00:24:54.69\00:24:56.87 But to restore and to rebuild Jerusalem 00:24:56.90\00:24:58.89 the only commission given was at 457 BC. 00:24:58.92\00:25:01.92 That's right. And the actual 00:25:01.95\00:25:03.72 one of the untruths of the statement in the pamphlet 00:25:03.75\00:25:06.22 there was that the first three decrees including 00:25:06.25\00:25:08.62 Artaxerxes was only for the rebuilding of the temple. 00:25:08.65\00:25:10.72 That's not true. That's not true. 00:25:10.75\00:25:12.18 Artaxerxes actually gave the command 00:25:12.21\00:25:13.94 that we store and rebuild Jerusalem itself. 00:25:13.97\00:25:15.84 That's right. That's right. 00:25:15.87\00:25:17.00 So that part of the pamphlet is not, is not accurate. 00:25:17.03\00:25:21.57 You know, one of the things too I think it's important 00:25:21.60\00:25:23.42 and that is not the only picture of the futurist's position. 00:25:23.45\00:25:26.52 Some futurists pick 00:25:26.55\00:25:27.61 Cyrus's decree. Oh yeah. 00:25:27.64\00:25:29.24 So there is several-- this pamphlet 00:25:29.27\00:25:30.90 is happening to pick the fourth 00:25:30.93\00:25:32.57 of the second decree by Artaxerxes 00:25:32.60\00:25:33.95 but the fourth decree given to Nehemiah. 00:25:33.98\00:25:37.32 But some also pick some of the others 00:25:37.35\00:25:38.94 which are the ones of the popular ones 00:25:38.97\00:25:40.81 that I have typically seen. 00:25:40.84\00:25:42.19 But one of the ways we know 00:25:42.22\00:25:43.31 which decree it is, is found in Ezra Chapter 6. 00:25:43.34\00:25:46.48 Go for it. And in that verse 14, 00:25:46.51\00:25:52.22 it says here, "So the elders of the Jews built." Okay. 00:25:52.25\00:25:56.67 And lets see, "And they prospered 00:25:56.70\00:26:01.81 through the prophesying of Haggai 00:26:01.84\00:26:03.36 the prophet and Zechariah the son of Iddo. 00:26:03.39\00:26:05.33 And they built, and finished it, 00:26:05.36\00:26:07.22 according to the commandment of the God of Israel." 00:26:07.25\00:26:12.18 Now that's interesting because he is not identifying 00:26:12.21\00:26:15.49 here is the command is from Cyrus, 00:26:15.52\00:26:17.18 Dairus or Artaxerxes as the one that commanded it truly. 00:26:17.21\00:26:20.86 But the God of Israel is also one behind the command. 00:26:20.89\00:26:24.45 "And according to the commandment of Cyrus, 00:26:24.48\00:26:27.25 Darius, and Artaxerxes." 00:26:27.28\00:26:29.47 So you cannot pick Cyrus and stop--Darius and stop 00:26:29.50\00:26:34.88 but Artaxerxes is clearly a part 00:26:34.91\00:26:37.29 of the command for finishing the temple. 00:26:37.32\00:26:39.22 And because it was added the building of Jerusalem, 00:26:39.25\00:26:43.77 if you look at Artaxerxes decree it also included that. 00:26:43.80\00:26:47.18 So you'll pick Artaxerxes as the date. 00:26:47.21\00:26:49.88 So it's another way of finding your start day. 00:26:49.91\00:26:53.77 And so when you look at, when you measure up 00:26:53.80\00:26:55.77 all the components 457 BC and it breaks it down, 00:26:55.80\00:27:00.80 7 weeks, 3 score and 2 weeks. 00:27:00.83\00:27:03.37 From 457 BC, 7 weeks, that's 7x7--49 years later. 00:27:03.40\00:27:09.61 Jerusalem was rebuilt, exactly the first seven week 00:27:09.64\00:27:13.72 component which was 49 years. 00:27:13.75\00:27:16.99 Then you have the other component 00:27:17.02\00:27:18.57 when the Messiah was anointed. 00:27:18.60\00:27:20.13 Then you have the other component 00:27:20.16\00:27:21.26 in the middle of the week He shall be cutoff. 00:27:21.29\00:27:23.09 The only one of those prophecies that matches 00:27:23.12\00:27:26.46 without any discrepancy is the commission 00:27:26.49\00:27:30.20 given by Artaxerxes to restore and to rebuild Jerusalem. 00:27:30.23\00:27:33.80 You couldn't find it that's where the rapture theory 00:27:33.83\00:27:36.08 comes into existence. 00:27:36.11\00:27:37.29 Because they can't find this prophecy happening. 00:27:37.32\00:27:39.33 And the danger John, this is something 00:27:39.36\00:27:41.03 that I want to add in Daniel 9 and the reason 00:27:41.06\00:27:43.27 I said to turn to Daniel 9 is because this is the challenge 00:27:43.30\00:27:45.92 where-- this is the great departure 00:27:45.95\00:27:48.34 from what the prophecy is all about. 00:27:48.37\00:27:50.62 Notice the main focus of the prophecy 00:27:50.65\00:27:52.87 and I will show you this very quickly. 00:27:52.90\00:27:54.85 Daniel 9:24, "Seventy weeks are determined 00:27:54.88\00:27:57.61 for your people and for your holy city," that for the Jews. 00:27:57.64\00:28:00.47 "To finish the transgression, and to make an end of sins, 00:28:00.50\00:28:03.24 and to make reconciliation for iniquity, 00:28:03.27\00:28:05.09 and to bring in everlasting righteousness, 00:28:05.12\00:28:06.68 and to seal up the vision and prophecy, 00:28:06.71\00:28:08.62 anoint the most Holy." 00:28:08.65\00:28:10.26 The focus of this prophecy is work of the most holy. 00:28:10.29\00:28:13.22 Once again, "Until Messiah the prince." 00:28:13.25\00:28:15.14 Verse 25, it's all about Christ. 00:28:15.17\00:28:17.17 Verse 26 again, "After sixty two weeks 00:28:17.20\00:28:20.41 shall Messiah shall be cut off." 00:28:20.44\00:28:22.42 All--its all about the work of Christ. 00:28:22.45\00:28:24.86 That's the major problem 00:28:24.89\00:28:26.09 in the futurist's theory of the rapture. 00:28:26.12\00:28:28.61 They're talking about the antichrist work for 7 years. 00:28:28.64\00:28:31.85 Yeah. This time at the work of Christ. 00:28:31.88\00:28:34.75 So you got to come to this conclusion, 00:28:34.78\00:28:36.98 if this focusing on the antichrist 00:28:37.01\00:28:41.13 then you can accept the futurist believe. 00:28:41.16\00:28:43.43 But because this is focusing on the most holy, 00:28:43.46\00:28:46.03 the Messiah, the prince it only focuses on the work 00:28:46.06\00:28:50.36 that Jesus already accomplished. 00:28:50.39\00:28:52.82 You cannot delete that that's the history 00:28:52.85\00:28:54.89 and it happened exactly as outlined in this prophecy. 00:28:54.92\00:28:57.78 Yeah. So anyway, nutshell. 00:28:57.81\00:28:59.50 And also a futurists position-- this is in account 00:28:59.53\00:29:00.79 for the--well sometimes they do conveniently 00:29:00.82\00:29:03.90 and sometimes they don't. 00:29:03.93\00:29:05.02 But not the day using the day, year principle. 00:29:05.05\00:29:07.17 No they're not using the day and year principle. 00:29:07.20\00:29:08.66 And they're trying narrow down to one man 00:29:08.69\00:29:10.81 in future coming up and he is going to be the guy 00:29:10.84\00:29:13.24 that's can do to all this stuff 00:29:13.27\00:29:14.30 and let's not even go any further than that. 00:29:14.33\00:29:16.90 I think that's the best place to stop right there. 00:29:16.93\00:29:19.15 It's the false. 00:29:19.18\00:29:20.51 It's not a scriptural prophecy. 00:29:20.54\00:29:22.35 Well, thank you for your questions and comments 00:29:22.38\00:29:24.18 if you have any more those you like to send to us. 00:29:24.21\00:29:26.71 Sometimes we get a little bit 00:29:26.74\00:29:27.88 of deep, very deep here. 00:29:27.91\00:29:29.08 So if we haven't made it very, very clear send your questions 00:29:29.11\00:29:32.01 and comments to the email on the screen, housecalls@3abn.org 00:29:32.04\00:29:36.16 that's housecalls@3abn.org. 00:29:36.19\00:29:39.13 And we thank you very much for your support. 00:29:39.16\00:29:41.80 John, take us into the program 00:29:41.83\00:29:43.53 today on the study part of it. 00:29:43.56\00:29:45.42 Well the title of the program today 00:29:45.45\00:29:47.33 at least the lesson part of the program is On-trial. 00:29:47.36\00:29:50.38 Okay. And it's about the judgment. 00:29:50.41\00:29:52.20 And I know lot of people when they 00:29:52.23\00:29:53.38 hear the word judgment its going 00:29:53.41\00:29:54.55 to be very negative connotation. 00:29:54.58\00:29:56.89 But one of the things we're gonna do in this program 00:29:56.92\00:29:59.74 is see how close they lined the judgment process 00:29:59.77\00:30:04.21 and when it comes to Christ and His judgment 00:30:04.24\00:30:06.28 of all people on this earth. 00:30:06.31\00:30:08.54 How closely lined our own justice system 00:30:08.57\00:30:11.41 within in the United Sates of America 00:30:11.44\00:30:13.13 is to this system that God has. 00:30:13.16\00:30:15.99 Now we know from the beginning 00:30:16.02\00:30:17.62 that our court system and many of our laws 00:30:17.65\00:30:21.22 and other things that are governed 00:30:21.25\00:30:23.00 this country are lined 00:30:23.03\00:30:24.32 with Judea Christian principles. That's right. 00:30:24.35\00:30:26.32 We've heard that term many terms. 00:30:26.35\00:30:27.62 So it shouldn't surprise us. 00:30:27.65\00:30:29.14 So there are some thing's done 00:30:29.17\00:30:30.28 within God's kingdom or similar to the way 00:30:30.31\00:30:32.89 that the United States operates in its government. 00:30:32.92\00:30:36.58 But we're going to take it is a step 00:30:36.61\00:30:37.86 further today and I hopefully 00:30:37.89\00:30:39.59 we're gonna unfold some real keen insights 00:30:39.62\00:30:42.24 to help us understand the judgment a little better 00:30:42.27\00:30:44.41 and to take some of the anxiety 00:30:44.44\00:30:48.41 or some of the fear out of that judgment process. 00:30:48.44\00:30:50.96 All right. So first of all we're going 00:30:50.99\00:30:52.98 to start with who is judge. Okay. 00:30:53.01\00:30:55.78 Who is the judge? 00:30:55.81\00:30:57.25 Now I think there is some clear statements 00:30:57.28\00:30:58.31 on this and we're gonna begin with John Chapter 5, 00:30:58.34\00:31:02.58 an unequivocal statement by Christ himself in verse 22. 00:31:02.61\00:31:07.49 All right. John, do you have that one? 00:31:07.52\00:31:10.33 I sure do. Okay. 00:31:10.36\00:31:12.74 John 5:22 the Bible says "For the Father judges no one, 00:31:12.77\00:31:17.06 but has committed all judgment to the Son." 00:31:17.09\00:31:21.23 All right, so judgment, the responsibility for judging 00:31:21.26\00:31:25.28 the Father is not going to deal. 00:31:25.31\00:31:26.68 But who is he giving that responsibility to? 00:31:26.71\00:31:28.72 To Christ. To Christ. 00:31:28.75\00:31:30.40 So then Paul can say in 2 Corinthians 5:10. 00:31:30.43\00:31:34.64 "For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, 00:31:34.67\00:31:39.68 that every one may receive the things done in his body, 00:31:39.71\00:31:41.78 according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad." 00:31:41.81\00:31:44.72 So this is something that simply Paul is expounding on. 00:31:44.75\00:31:47.34 That judgment has have been given to Jesus. 00:31:47.37\00:31:50.60 Not--the Father has not retained that. 00:31:50.63\00:31:52.52 And the Jesus is responsible and He is one we must appear 00:31:52.55\00:31:55.50 for to give account for what we have done 00:31:55.53\00:31:57.98 while we're here on this earth. 00:31:58.01\00:32:00.11 Now it's interesting because Jesus 00:32:00.14\00:32:01.61 takes it another step further this process of judging 00:32:01.64\00:32:05.36 and how it will look as He is going through 00:32:05.39\00:32:08.83 the process of judging all human beings, all mankind. 00:32:08.86\00:32:13.56 And so John Chapter 12, I think it's a real powerful 00:32:13.59\00:32:19.13 text to help us understand what is Jesus 00:32:19.16\00:32:22.74 actually looking at as he sits as judge over us. 00:32:22.77\00:32:27.28 And I'm going to read 00:32:27.31\00:32:28.68 from John 12:47-48. Let's see. 00:32:28.71\00:32:35.88 All right. I'm gonna read with verse 46. 00:32:35.91\00:32:38.04 "I have come as a light into the world, 00:32:38.07\00:32:40.54 that whoever believes in Me should not abide in darkness. 00:32:40.57\00:32:44.34 And if anyone hears My words and does not believe, 00:32:44.37\00:32:48.33 I do not judge him." 00:32:48.36\00:32:50.07 I thought that was interesting when I first read that. 00:32:50.10\00:32:52.55 You don't believe, He doesn't judge you. 00:32:52.58\00:32:55.83 But then read on. 00:32:55.86\00:32:57.71 "for I did not come to judge the world." 00:32:57.74\00:33:00.02 But to do what? Save the world. 00:33:00.05\00:33:01.81 "To save the world." 00:33:01.84\00:33:03.30 So Jesus job, His main role in judgment 00:33:03.33\00:33:06.16 is not to condemn us, is to save us. 00:33:06.19\00:33:10.18 In fact He said, also where He says 00:33:10.21\00:33:12.04 "I have come to seek and save that which is lost." 00:33:12.07\00:33:15.56 Luke 19:10. Yeah. So that's, 00:33:15.59\00:33:16.94 that's His goal, that's His purpose. 00:33:16.97\00:33:18.68 But notice this verse 48, "He who rejects Me, 00:33:18.71\00:33:22.98 and does not receive My words, 00:33:23.01\00:33:26.21 has that which judges him the word 00:33:26.24\00:33:31.26 that I have spoken will judge him in the last day." 00:33:31.29\00:33:37.17 Okay The word of God 00:33:37.20\00:33:39.42 that was spoken and given to us is the baseline 00:33:39.45\00:33:43.64 the foundation of judgment. 00:33:43.67\00:33:46.04 In fact when Jesus returns if you recall in Revelation 19, 00:33:46.07\00:33:49.85 He has called the word of God. 00:33:49.88\00:33:52.77 Word of God, that's right. 00:33:52.80\00:33:54.27 There's a reason He has called the word of God 00:33:54.30\00:33:56.10 because He is coming back on the basis 00:33:56.13\00:33:57.76 of His word to judge each of us. 00:33:57.79\00:34:00.66 I mean, He is not coming back to condemn as His main role. 00:34:00.69\00:34:04.42 He is coming back and the judgment, 00:34:04.45\00:34:06.43 the whole judgment process is taking a look at our life 00:34:06.46\00:34:11.14 and whether or not we have received His word 00:34:11.17\00:34:14.35 and have followed it or where we have rejected His word. 00:34:14.38\00:34:17.95 The word itself provides the key ingredient 00:34:17.98\00:34:21.73 for whether or not we're condemned 00:34:21.76\00:34:23.62 or we're saved by Jesus. 00:34:23.65\00:34:25.99 You know, what I like about 00:34:26.02\00:34:27.16 this whole thing in this concept, 00:34:27.19\00:34:28.93 not concept but the teaching of the judge in the Bible 00:34:28.96\00:34:31.56 can get some people pretty nervous 00:34:31.59\00:34:33.94 when they think, oh, judge. 00:34:33.97\00:34:37.76 The judge is the one person people don't want to see. 00:34:37.79\00:34:40.40 That's right. You just don't want 00:34:40.43\00:34:41.52 to--you could go to the mall, 00:34:41.55\00:34:43.08 you could go to but you someone 00:34:43.11\00:34:46.00 who don't go to court. Court over to the judge. 00:34:46.03\00:34:47.54 I mean, got a notice 00:34:47.57\00:34:48.86 to see the judge its like, its never good. 00:34:48.89\00:34:51.11 You know, accepted person dies and, 00:34:51.14\00:34:53.47 you know, the will has being read 00:34:53.50\00:34:55.25 in court and, you know, your name mentioned 00:34:55.28\00:34:57.12 in there and you're beneficiary or something. 00:34:57.15\00:34:58.65 Outside of that nobody wants to see the judge. 00:34:58.68\00:35:01.47 So this is the very, very fearful topic 00:35:01.50\00:35:03.25 when you thing about the judge. 00:35:03.28\00:35:04.96 You know, years ago 00:35:04.99\00:35:06.23 we had this saying grown up, "here comes the judge. 00:35:06.26\00:35:08.63 Here comes the judge." 00:35:08.66\00:35:10.04 Well it's a fearful thing 00:35:10.07\00:35:11.44 and now they're all judged Judean, 00:35:11.47\00:35:13.17 Judge Mathewson, judge and all these people that are judging. 00:35:13.20\00:35:16.96 And people in front of them 00:35:16.99\00:35:18.12 are made to look silly most of the time. 00:35:18.15\00:35:19.32 Oh, it's just like because 00:35:19.35\00:35:20.76 they judge--the judge never comes across 00:35:20.79\00:35:23.15 as the person who has done anything wrong. 00:35:23.18\00:35:27.33 But in the setting of-- in the setting 00:35:27.36\00:35:30.68 of heavenly temple what I love so much Jesus 00:35:30.71\00:35:34.68 is not just our judge. 00:35:34.71\00:35:37.34 Go to 1 John 2:1 I want to show you this. 00:35:37.37\00:35:39.91 Because this is where, this is where heavens 00:35:39.94\00:35:44.12 judicial system departs from earthly system. 00:35:44.15\00:35:47.79 Because you see man cannot occupy 00:35:47.82\00:35:49.84 both positions but Jesus can. 00:35:49.87\00:35:52.12 That's right. This is the beautiful thing. 00:35:52.15\00:35:53.63 Now what's so nice about it is. 00:35:53.66\00:35:55.35 Man okay, I will read this first. 00:35:55.38\00:35:56.92 1 John 2:1. Look at what the Bible says. 00:35:56.95\00:35:59.81 "My little children, these things I write to you, 00:35:59.84\00:36:02.86 so that you may not sin." 00:36:02.89\00:36:05.42 However, this is my word. 00:36:05.45\00:36:07.35 Here it is if "And if anyone sins, 00:36:07.38\00:36:11.15 we have an Advocate with the Father, 00:36:11.18\00:36:14.93 Jesus Christ the righteous." 00:36:14.96\00:36:17.43 We've got an advocate. 00:36:17.46\00:36:18.59 Who is that representing? 00:36:18.62\00:36:20.09 He is representing the Father. 00:36:20.12\00:36:21.82 The advocate is the Father's advocate. 00:36:21.85\00:36:24.25 He is with the Father. 00:36:24.28\00:36:26.33 They're together on this. 00:36:26.36\00:36:28.20 Jesus Christ the righteous. 00:36:28.23\00:36:30.28 Now let us put this in the setting of a court. 00:36:30.31\00:36:32.97 You go to court and the judge comes out 00:36:33.00\00:36:36.67 and the honorable everybody stands. 00:36:36.70\00:36:40.65 And then he walks around and he then 00:36:40.68\00:36:44.63 he stands next to you. 00:36:44.66\00:36:45.87 I'm not just the judge I'm also your advocate. 00:36:45.90\00:36:48.66 So what I need to do is go let you know 00:36:48.69\00:36:50.94 that if you go to the Book of Daniel. 00:36:50.97\00:36:53.86 Could I go there? 00:36:53.89\00:36:55.41 That's, yeah lets that's where we're going to next. Yeah. 00:36:55.44\00:36:57.77 Okay, I want to go to the Book of Daniel 00:36:57.80\00:36:59.09 show you how beautiful this is. 00:36:59.12\00:37:00.38 Because what you have to keep in mind--okay Daniel 7. 00:37:00.41\00:37:05.61 Yeah, okay let me see yes, yes, yes okay. 00:37:05.64\00:37:08.94 Daniel 7:21, 22 you got it on your paper. 00:37:08.97\00:37:11.61 You see, you got to understand 00:37:11.64\00:37:13.22 what's so beautiful about this whole thing about 00:37:13.25\00:37:15.85 judgment is that when Jesus says you're advocate 00:37:15.88\00:37:19.29 because he is your judge there is no fear there. 00:37:19.32\00:37:23.19 That's right. John, since you have 00:37:23.22\00:37:24.51 it on your syllabus read Daniel 7:21, 22. 00:37:24.54\00:37:27.81 Because keep this in mind in the judgment 00:37:27.84\00:37:30.25 we're living in the judgment hour, 00:37:30.28\00:37:31.59 we're living in the time 00:37:31.62\00:37:32.88 of the antitypical Day of Atonement. 00:37:32.91\00:37:34.73 And this time of searching our hearts and laying aside 00:37:34.76\00:37:38.79 our sin will all culminate in the final, the final verdict. 00:37:38.82\00:37:43.59 Here is guilty, here is righteous, 00:37:43.62\00:37:46.73 here there is holy, here there is unjust. 00:37:46.76\00:37:48.91 This is going to be a verdict somewhere here. 00:37:48.94\00:37:50.96 That's right. But you got to know 00:37:50.99\00:37:52.02 that when this verdict is coming down 00:37:52.05\00:37:54.34 that we could stand in the confidence 00:37:54.37\00:37:57.13 of Christ and not be fearful. 00:37:57.16\00:37:58.80 I'm gonna read, first of all I will read the verses 00:37:58.83\00:38:00.98 you mentioned 21-22. Yes 00:38:01.01\00:38:02.74 But then I want to stay in Daniel 7. 00:38:02.77\00:38:04.14 Okay. Because I want to, 00:38:04.17\00:38:05.29 I want to back it up with this court scene. 00:38:05.32\00:38:07.02 Okay. And we're going 00:38:07.05\00:38:08.25 to expand on that a little bit. 00:38:08.28\00:38:09.39 But look at this. 00:38:09.42\00:38:10.71 Talking about the fear of judgment 00:38:10.74\00:38:12.31 and so forth but Christ being our advocate. 00:38:12.34\00:38:14.78 Its says in verse 21, "I was watching, 00:38:14.81\00:38:17.76 and the same horn made war with the saints, 00:38:17.79\00:38:20.77 and prevailed against them, until the Ancient of Days came, 00:38:20.80\00:38:24.19 and judgment was made" what? 00:38:24.22\00:38:26.23 "In favor of the saints of the Most High, 00:38:26.26\00:38:30.05 and the time came for the saints 00:38:30.08\00:38:31.94 to possess the kingdom." Wow. 00:38:31.97\00:38:33.87 When you think about coming into the court setting, 00:38:33.90\00:38:37.37 when you think about what do we do 00:38:37.40\00:38:39.15 in this pivotal hour of our destiny 00:38:39.18\00:38:41.70 and then the Ancient of Days. 00:38:41.73\00:38:44.45 And He is present there because 00:38:44.48\00:38:46.10 the advocate is with the Father. 00:38:46.13\00:38:48.18 That's right. They're no fighting 00:38:48.21\00:38:49.30 with each other. Jesus is not saying 00:38:49.33\00:38:51.34 "Dad, dad come on dad could you let him through." 00:38:51.37\00:38:54.74 Yeah. For God soul of the world 00:38:54.77\00:38:57.86 that he gave his only begotten Son. 00:38:57.89\00:39:00.07 Let's just reestablish for God soul of the world 00:39:00.10\00:39:03.83 that he sent us a lawyer. 00:39:03.86\00:39:05.59 Yeah, it's the Father 00:39:05.62\00:39:07.07 isn't the hard man and Jesus the loving one. 00:39:07.10\00:39:09.97 Right. They're both one in the same 00:39:10.00\00:39:11.39 and they're redemption. 00:39:11.42\00:39:12.67 And their efforts to redeem mankind 00:39:12.70\00:39:14.10 to save us and they're all in favor of this acquittal. 00:39:14.13\00:39:18.59 That's right. They're all in favor 00:39:18.62\00:39:20.48 of the acquittal. They're all standing with us. 00:39:20.51\00:39:23.74 There is something-- I had this revelation years ago 00:39:23.77\00:39:28.86 when I was living in California. 00:39:28.89\00:39:30.08 Actually had this revelation of the beauty of the judgment, 00:39:30.11\00:39:32.90 I want to share a couple of things. 00:39:32.93\00:39:34.12 You said, you want to stand Daniel for little bit. 00:39:34.15\00:39:36.32 Well, we're going to, I'm going to expound a bit on Daniel. 00:39:36.35\00:39:38.84 Okay. But finish your point 00:39:38.87\00:39:40.06 on where you want to go. 00:39:40.09\00:39:41.12 And what I love so much about this. 00:39:41.15\00:39:43.88 You see judgment being made in favor of the saints 00:39:43.91\00:39:48.11 takes the fear away from the whole process of judgment. 00:39:48.14\00:39:52.86 So if you know the Lord you will remember 00:39:52.89\00:39:55.96 that you're advocate said, 00:39:55.99\00:39:57.41 I'm not willing that any should perish. 00:39:57.44\00:40:00.17 I'm not giving up anybody. 00:40:00.20\00:40:02.73 Even in the story of Joshua, 00:40:02.76\00:40:04.74 the highest-- Jesus standing 00:40:04.77\00:40:07.12 there in the favor of Joshua the high priest 00:40:07.15\00:40:09.67 and he snatches Joshua from destruction. 00:40:09.70\00:40:12.48 And He says, then the Lord says to the devil 00:40:12.51\00:40:15.90 "you just upset because I will snatch him from the fire." 00:40:15.93\00:40:19.13 The devil says, yeah. 00:40:19.16\00:40:21.37 I mean, can you see it. Yeah. 00:40:21.40\00:40:23.56 Can you see it? Lost again. 00:40:23.59\00:40:26.85 And that's one so beautiful about that our advocate 00:40:26.88\00:40:29.45 is our defense attorney, He is out Savior, 00:40:29.48\00:40:32.29 He is our advocate and also He is our judge. 00:40:32.32\00:40:35.44 So what is that make 1 John 4:17. 00:40:35.47\00:40:40.87 I want to show you this. 00:40:40.90\00:40:42.46 This is what's so nice about the judgment here. 00:40:42.49\00:40:44.87 1 John 4:17. And this is what, 00:40:44.90\00:40:48.20 this is the departure from the judicial system of America. 00:40:48.23\00:40:51.47 We have a lot of similarities. 00:40:51.50\00:40:52.86 You know, the number of jurors. 00:40:52.89\00:40:54.35 Yeah. The way it set up. 00:40:54.38\00:40:55.70 The verdict aspects have with 00:40:55.73\00:40:57.31 the investigations of person's life. 00:40:57.34\00:40:58.75 We have lot of components 00:40:58.78\00:40:59.90 but this is where we kind of depart a little bit. 00:40:59.93\00:41:03.64 Verse 17 of 1 John 4. 00:41:03.67\00:41:09.07 You want to read that for us, John? 00:41:09.10\00:41:10.70 "Love has been perfected among us in this, 00:41:10.73\00:41:13.93 that we have boldness in the day of judgment." 00:41:13.96\00:41:16.82 That we may have boldness. 00:41:16.85\00:41:18.20 That we may have boldness 00:41:18.23\00:41:19.44 "Because as he is, so are we in this world. 00:41:19.47\00:41:22.66 There is no fear in love, but perfect love casts out fear 00:41:22.69\00:41:26.37 because fear hath torment. 00:41:26.40\00:41:28.17 But he who fears has not been made perfect in love." 00:41:28.20\00:41:31.99 And that beautiful verse, we love Him. Why? 00:41:32.02\00:41:34.13 Because He first loved us. 00:41:34.17\00:41:36.31 So you have the advocate here. 00:41:36.34\00:41:37.72 You have the advocate here. 00:41:37.75\00:41:39.11 And so when you go to court. 00:41:39.14\00:41:40.46 Let's just put this in the proper perspective. 00:41:40.49\00:41:42.37 When you hear that you're court date has come 00:41:42.40\00:41:44.34 and you must appear before the judge. 00:41:44.37\00:41:46.05 You walk and I called with great confidence. 00:41:46.08\00:41:48.06 That's right. This man, why he is so confident? 00:41:48.09\00:41:51.05 He is my attorney. That's right. 00:41:51.08\00:41:53.22 He loves me. I love Him. 00:41:53.25\00:41:55.87 So do you think that the court is right in your favor? Yes. 00:41:55.90\00:41:59.90 That's right. Judgment was made in favor 00:41:59.93\00:42:02.70 of the saints because the merits of our salvation 00:42:02.73\00:42:05.34 is not based on what we have done in our record. 00:42:05.37\00:42:07.70 If it's based on my record I'm in trouble. 00:42:07.73\00:42:10.00 Yeah. But if my record 00:42:10.03\00:42:12.27 has been expunged and the accuser of the brethren 00:42:12.30\00:42:15.41 who accuses me before God day 00:42:15.44\00:42:17.16 and I stand in they're accusing me. 00:42:17.19\00:42:18.67 And Jesus said, "Okay. 00:42:18.70\00:42:21.96 Show me, show me his sin." 00:42:21.99\00:42:24.40 And the devil will say "but he was there." 00:42:24.43\00:42:26.17 And He said "but it ain't there now." 00:42:26.20\00:42:28.24 God has cleaned our record 00:42:28.27\00:42:30.03 that we may have boldness in the Day of Judgment, 00:42:30.06\00:42:32.54 that we may have confidence. 00:42:32.57\00:42:34.56 These are terms that are not often associated 00:42:34.59\00:42:36.47 with any court setting, John, at all except 00:42:36.50\00:42:39.33 if you're the plaintiff. 00:42:39.36\00:42:41.64 You're going there with the sense of confidence. 00:42:41.67\00:42:43.30 But in this sense that we are, we are the one on-trial 00:42:43.33\00:42:48.93 and we have the advocate and the judge on our side. 00:42:48.96\00:42:52.72 Yeah. In the book of Daniel, 00:42:52.75\00:42:55.41 back to Daniel 7, we know that in many ways, 00:42:55.44\00:43:00.73 in many chapters and within different 00:43:00.76\00:43:03.14 presentation of prophetic time there. 00:43:03.17\00:43:06.40 There is a sequential-- a sequence of events. 00:43:06.43\00:43:09.84 A chronological order of sorts. 00:43:09.87\00:43:11.73 Now we know that it's not always the case 00:43:11.76\00:43:13.49 in the broad scheme of prophecy but within each chapter 00:43:13.52\00:43:16.99 you have this mini picture of chronological events. 00:43:17.02\00:43:19.42 Right. And the judgment seem 00:43:19.45\00:43:22.52 always seems to appear before the second coming. 00:43:22.55\00:43:25.75 Right. And so you cannot deny 00:43:25.78\00:43:28.33 and Seventh-day Adventist have called have 00:43:28.36\00:43:31.07 had several words for this. 00:43:31.10\00:43:32.47 One is pre-advent judgment 00:43:32.50\00:43:34.53 which is prior to the second coming 00:43:34.56\00:43:36.02 or investigative judgment. 00:43:36.05\00:43:37.93 That's the another way of looking 00:43:37.96\00:43:39.46 at it and it is looking at the record of our life 00:43:39.49\00:43:42.43 and inspecting those, those courtroom records. 00:43:42.46\00:43:45.30 All these things point to or alluded to in chapter 7. 00:43:45.33\00:43:50.40 I'm going to read verse 9 and 10. 00:43:50.43\00:43:51.88 And I think, John, I think what we're gonna 00:43:51.91\00:43:53.64 do is we're gonna get a clear picture 00:43:53.67\00:43:55.34 that there is courtroom in heaven. 00:43:55.37\00:43:56.86 Yes There is no doubt 00:43:56.89\00:43:58.54 so the analogy we're using of the courtroom 00:43:58.57\00:44:00.77 today is very, very true in the literal sense. 00:44:00.80\00:44:03.26 Okay. It says here in Daniel 7:9. 00:44:03.29\00:44:06.63 "I watched till the thrones were put in place, 00:44:06.66\00:44:08.67 and the Ancient of days were seated." 00:44:08.70\00:44:11.18 That's the Father. 00:44:11.21\00:44:12.43 "His garment was white as snow, 00:44:12.46\00:44:15.02 and the hair of his head like the pure wool, 00:44:15.05\00:44:18.06 his throne was like the fiery flame, 00:44:18.09\00:44:20.12 its wheels as burning fire. 00:44:20.15\00:44:22.02 A fiery stream issued and came forth from before him, 00:44:22.05\00:44:25.61 a thousand thousands ministered unto him, 00:44:25.64\00:44:27.96 ten thousand times ten thousand stood before him, 00:44:27.99\00:44:30.67 the courts were seated, and the books were opened." 00:44:30.70\00:44:36.25 Now I remember in one program not too long ago John, 00:44:36.28\00:44:39.75 we looked at Revelation Chapter 20 00:44:39.78\00:44:41.65 and we noticed that judgment looked at the books. 00:44:41.68\00:44:45.21 That's right. These are the books 00:44:45.24\00:44:47.28 and each one of us I would say has a book. 00:44:47.31\00:44:50.20 But these are the books of our lives 00:44:50.23\00:44:52.08 as a collective people on-- in this earth. 00:44:52.11\00:44:55.73 And so the books being opened is the inspection of record 00:44:55.76\00:44:59.52 of what is going on, on this earth 00:44:59.55\00:45:02.20 in the lives of you and of me. 00:45:02.23\00:45:05.32 Now, as we read on, we already read the text 00:45:05.35\00:45:07.96 from verses 21 and 22, that if you are a saint, 00:45:07.99\00:45:12.45 which means you're in Christ the judgment 00:45:12.48\00:45:15.09 is made in favor of the saints. 00:45:15.12\00:45:17.68 And that's good news. 00:45:17.71\00:45:19.02 That's good news. 00:45:19.05\00:45:20.58 But let me draw some parallels 00:45:20.61\00:45:22.44 here about this courtroom scene till today. 00:45:22.47\00:45:24.76 And I know that it doesn't fit in every respect. 00:45:24.79\00:45:27.05 But in this respect it's very helpful I think. 00:45:27.08\00:45:29.38 All right. John, when you're called before 00:45:29.41\00:45:32.63 the judge, it's this nervous thing. 00:45:32.66\00:45:35.08 We don't really like to appear before the judge. 00:45:35.11\00:45:36.71 We've already made that plain. 00:45:36.74\00:45:37.86 But one of the things that you do as a defendant 00:45:37.89\00:45:42.06 coming into a courtroom is you is asked to during 00:45:42.09\00:45:45.37 the hearing, to enter a plea. 00:45:45.40\00:45:48.25 That plea is one of two things. 00:45:48.28\00:45:50.47 Either you're guilty or you're not guilty. 00:45:50.50\00:45:55.10 Now the wonderful thing when it cause 00:45:55.13\00:45:58.17 comes to God's courtroom is that when you step 00:45:58.20\00:46:00.09 into the court, another words, 00:46:00.12\00:46:02.99 by virtue of your book been opened. 00:46:03.02\00:46:05.08 When you appear then before the court, 00:46:05.11\00:46:06.84 Jesus steps forward as your lawyer. 00:46:06.87\00:46:10.10 That's right. And he is your judge 00:46:10.13\00:46:12.81 and without you even having to speak 00:46:12.84\00:46:14.82 He enters the plea for you and He says my son, 00:46:14.85\00:46:17.88 my daughter is not guilty. 00:46:17.91\00:46:20.56 And He declares us not guilty by virtue of the fact 00:46:20.59\00:46:26.09 that we believe in Him-- in His righteousness. 00:46:26.12\00:46:28.34 His works stand in place of our works. 00:46:28.37\00:46:31.14 And we're seen as righteous in Him. 00:46:31.17\00:46:34.04 Not because we're righteous but because He is righteous. 00:46:34.07\00:46:36.35 Now here is the thing. 00:46:36.38\00:46:38.61 When you enter that plea the trial is not over. 00:46:38.64\00:46:44.06 It's only the beginning of a trial that takes place 00:46:44.09\00:46:47.51 to investigate the records 00:46:47.54\00:46:50.67 of whether or not the plea entered of not guilty is true. 00:46:50.70\00:46:55.71 And for the saint or for anybody who enters 00:46:55.74\00:46:59.74 the plea of not guilty saying I believe in Jesus 00:46:59.77\00:47:02.80 the record must be inspected to see is it true 00:47:02.83\00:47:05.99 that they're a follower of Christ 00:47:06.02\00:47:08.07 or not the follower of Christ. 00:47:08.10\00:47:09.93 So the not guilty plea is simply by virtue 00:47:09.96\00:47:13.27 of my declaration that I follow Jesus 00:47:13.30\00:47:16.67 and I trust in Him. 00:47:16.70\00:47:18.58 So the record book that is investigated 00:47:18.61\00:47:20.81 is whether or not that's true. 00:47:20.84\00:47:23.49 Right. And so this investigation 00:47:23.52\00:47:25.79 occurs, this inspection of records occurs to see 00:47:25.82\00:47:28.08 whether you're not your life is lived 00:47:28.11\00:47:29.48 in harmony with that declaration. 00:47:29.51\00:47:31.93 Now, on the other hand, let's talk about the other plea. 00:47:31.96\00:47:35.86 Someone stepping before a court and they do not have, 00:47:35.89\00:47:40.05 they don't proclaim Christ at all. 00:47:40.08\00:47:42.56 Never have, would they enter the plea not guilty. 00:47:42.59\00:47:45.26 I mean would enter the plea guilty. 00:47:45.29\00:47:47.10 Okay. Why is that? 00:47:47.13\00:47:48.27 Because they never professed Christ. 00:47:48.30\00:47:50.24 They know standing in God's courtroom 00:47:50.27\00:47:51.92 that they have not advocate to rely on and depend upon 00:47:51.95\00:47:56.05 and by virtue of that they are guilty. 00:47:56.08\00:48:00.00 And so the plea is entered then, they enter the plea 00:48:00.03\00:48:02.17 even themselves and we're talking about 00:48:02.20\00:48:03.98 the spiritual applicaton of this--of guilty. 00:48:04.01\00:48:06.88 Now its interesting John, when you enter a guilty plea 00:48:06.91\00:48:09.76 you don't have a trial. 00:48:09.79\00:48:11.90 You go straight to sentencing. That's right. 00:48:11.93\00:48:15.84 So, then the investigative judgment, 00:48:15.87\00:48:18.70 the pre-advent judgment is, does not involved the wicked. 00:48:18.73\00:48:23.78 It only involves those who have professed Christ 00:48:23.81\00:48:26.67 name and come before the judgment seat of Christ 00:48:26.70\00:48:29.65 saying I trust in Him. 00:48:29.68\00:48:32.57 So the inspection, this investigation 00:48:32.60\00:48:34.76 that occurs that is going on-- I believe today John, 00:48:34.79\00:48:37.81 is to determine whether or not those 00:48:37.84\00:48:39.76 that professed Christ truly are followers of Jesus. 00:48:39.79\00:48:43.57 Wow, wow. And for those 00:48:43.60\00:48:44.63 that are followers of Christ, Jesus steps forward 00:48:44.66\00:48:46.93 and says my righteousness stands in their behalf. 00:48:46.96\00:48:49.22 Right. To those that don't He says, 00:48:49.25\00:48:51.16 I never knew you. Knew you. 00:48:51.19\00:48:53.48 And we find that in Matthew Chapter 7. 00:48:53.51\00:48:56.24 And so now, I know we can go a lot of places here. 00:48:56.27\00:48:58.42 Okay. But what the, the point 00:48:58.45\00:48:59.79 I wanted to make here is he the judgment 00:48:59.82\00:49:01.75 that occurs before the second coming 00:49:01.78\00:49:03.66 is only of those who profess the name of Jesus. 00:49:03.69\00:49:07.70 It is not involved the wicked who have never claim Christ 00:49:07.73\00:49:10.75 as their Savior because their plea is guilty 00:49:10.78\00:49:13.36 and you go straight to sentencing for them 00:49:13.39\00:49:15.11 which is after the 1,000 years. 00:49:15.14\00:49:17.00 But today before Christ return 00:49:17.03\00:49:19.39 there must be a determination in the courts 00:49:19.42\00:49:21.68 above whether or not someone who professes Christ 00:49:21.71\00:49:24.18 really is a truly follower of Jesus. 00:49:24.21\00:49:26.97 You know, John, you've unpacked 00:49:27.00\00:49:29.01 so much stuff there that I just want to dive in. 00:49:29.04\00:49:31.29 now I kind of want to see, hold a moment 00:49:31.32\00:49:34.29 but let me just insert a few things here. 00:49:34.32\00:49:36.42 Praise the Lord. You know, what's so beautiful 00:49:36.45\00:49:38.22 about this, this teaching that John just put forth over 00:49:38.25\00:49:42.73 the fact that when you don't profess Christ 00:49:42.76\00:49:44.68 you're already condemned. 00:49:44.71\00:49:46.75 You know, you don't ask for any, 00:49:46.78\00:49:50.04 you can't ask for anything because 00:49:50.07\00:49:51.73 you don't have an advocate. 00:49:51.76\00:49:53.05 You don't have a judge on your team. 00:49:53.08\00:49:54.68 You're just, you don't enter, once you don't enter 00:49:54.71\00:49:58.14 a plea or once you don't ask for the mercy 00:49:58.17\00:50:01.15 or once your sins are atoned for you're already guilty. 00:50:01.18\00:50:05.59 I sight John 3:18. You know 00:50:05.62\00:50:08.14 we read John 3:16. We all know what that is. 00:50:08.17\00:50:11.04 "That you should not perish but have everlasting life." 00:50:11.07\00:50:12.99 But John 3:17 gives way to John 3:18 00:50:13.02\00:50:17.79 showing you how this whole process of, 00:50:17.82\00:50:21.18 you don't have a trial because you're guilty. 00:50:21.21\00:50:24.52 That's right. If you declare guilt, 00:50:24.55\00:50:27.48 you fall on the, if you'll say I'm guilty 00:50:27.51\00:50:30.56 then you need to do that really soon, 00:50:30.59\00:50:35.08 so that you could fall on the mercy of the court. 00:50:35.11\00:50:38.58 A person who is innocent doesn't ask for mercy, 00:50:38.61\00:50:41.61 a person who is innocent asks for justice. 00:50:41.64\00:50:44.25 And the person that enters an innocent plea 00:50:44.28\00:50:47.33 may or may not in the end after the trial 00:50:47.36\00:50:50.61 be found guilty or not guilty. 00:50:50.64\00:50:52.91 Right. You see there is a determination, 00:50:52.94\00:50:54.43 just because you say, I'm not innocent. 00:50:54.46\00:50:56.22 It doesn't mean that, that's the final verdict 00:50:56.25\00:50:58.27 because the trial still must have occur. 00:50:58.30\00:51:00.01 It doesn't mean I'm not guilty. 00:51:00.04\00:51:01.23 Well, no just there is a final verdict at all. 00:51:01.26\00:51:04.07 Okay. Because when you get 00:51:04.10\00:51:05.72 to the end of the trial. 00:51:05.75\00:51:07.09 The jury comes forward and says, 00:51:07.12\00:51:09.61 guilty or not guilty, right. 00:51:09.64\00:51:11.96 So that comes after the plea of not guilty. 00:51:11.99\00:51:15.92 The plea at the hearing that you enter into. 00:51:15.95\00:51:18.47 And this is similar to the inspection 00:51:18.50\00:51:21.34 of the guest that happened. 00:51:21.37\00:51:23.30 Well, before you go to the guest 00:51:23.33\00:51:24.36 let me read John 3:18. 00:51:24.39\00:51:26.41 The Bible says, "He who believes in Him 00:51:26.44\00:51:28.23 is not condemned, but he who does not believe 00:51:28.26\00:51:32.70 is condemned already, because he does not believe in 00:51:32.73\00:51:36.84 the name of the only begotten Son of God." 00:51:36.87\00:51:39.51 So do you need it? 00:51:39.54\00:51:40.89 So if you reject your advocate 00:51:40.92\00:51:42.91 you also close the book on the judge. 00:51:42.94\00:51:45.57 Yeah. And you say, 00:51:45.60\00:51:48.19 I don't believe in either one of these guys, 00:51:48.22\00:51:50.73 I'm gonna stand on my own merits. 00:51:50.76\00:51:52.70 Oh, are you going to represent yourself in the judgment? 00:51:52.73\00:51:56.48 Oh, the challenge with that is, if you represent yourself 00:51:56.51\00:52:00.29 in the judgment then here are your, 00:52:00.32\00:52:01.96 here are your transgression, here are your sins. 00:52:01.99\00:52:05.28 What do we do with that? 00:52:05.31\00:52:06.60 I'll explain each one to them you just give some time. 00:52:06.63\00:52:11.68 You're gonna explain 40 years or 60 years 00:52:11.71\00:52:13.95 or 30 years or 50 years of sin 00:52:13.98\00:52:15.67 and then you're gonna explain them all away. 00:52:15.70\00:52:17.74 All I have got to do say "his blood." 00:52:17.77\00:52:22.91 Yeah. And you wouldn't in reality 00:52:22.94\00:52:24.91 be explaining all those 40 years of sin 00:52:24.94\00:52:26.26 because you would basically be bowing before the court 00:52:26.29\00:52:28.41 saying you're just in fare to pronounce me guilty. 00:52:28.44\00:52:31.39 Its an mission of guilt. 00:52:31.42\00:52:33.17 It's a guilty plea you've entered. 00:52:33.20\00:52:34.98 That's what will happen one day. 00:52:35.01\00:52:36.32 Yeah. That's what is going 00:52:36.35\00:52:37.46 to happen one day and it'll be very, very careful. 00:52:37.49\00:52:39.47 We have to be very mindful 00:52:39.50\00:52:40.53 of how we judge because the Bible says 00:52:40.56\00:52:42.56 "For judgment is without mercy 00:52:42.59\00:52:44.60 to the one who has shown no mercy." 00:52:44.63\00:52:47.11 James 2:13. You don't show mercy to people, 00:52:47.14\00:52:50.79 you will not get mercy in the judgment. 00:52:50.82\00:52:53.19 Now there's part of this experience, 00:52:53.22\00:52:56.49 this reality that helps us understands 00:52:56.52\00:52:58.51 that once saved always saved is not accurate either. 00:52:58.54\00:53:00.74 Yeah. Because, just because 00:53:00.77\00:53:03.88 you've profess your name in Christ 00:53:03.91\00:53:05.36 and you're justified in Him does not mean 00:53:05.39\00:53:07.83 that you will always, that will always be your standing. 00:53:07.86\00:53:10.34 That's right. It just simply means 00:53:10.37\00:53:12.91 you've entered a not guilty plea by virtue of Jesus. 00:53:12.94\00:53:16.11 That's true. But then what do you do with the life? 00:53:16.14\00:53:18.38 What does that faith look like? 00:53:18.41\00:53:20.18 Have you been sanctified and have you been grown 00:53:20.21\00:53:23.03 and have you experienced Christ as your Savior? 00:53:23.06\00:53:25.31 Well, in the scene of Matthew 22 00:53:25.34\00:53:28.23 where it's a parallel or picture of Jesus 00:53:28.26\00:53:32.68 coming into inspect the guest. 00:53:32.71\00:53:34.67 We find a guest there that in attendance 00:53:34.70\00:53:36.98 of the wedding without a garment 00:53:37.01\00:53:38.68 and he is speechless and they cast him out. 00:53:38.71\00:53:42.19 Well, that's a picture of the courtroom scene 00:53:42.22\00:53:44.44 because the only way to get into--by the way 00:53:44.47\00:53:46.28 Matthew 25, the only way 00:53:46.31\00:53:47.51 to get into the wedding is when you're ready. 00:53:47.54\00:53:49.01 That's right. So when you profess Christ. 00:53:49.04\00:53:51.60 The reality is at that moment you're saved 00:53:51.63\00:53:54.75 because you professed one who can save. 00:53:54.78\00:53:56.85 That's right. But from that point 00:53:56.88\00:53:58.63 on you have an opportunity to accept or reject 00:53:58.66\00:54:02.97 the word of God which means it's the foundation 00:54:03.00\00:54:05.38 of our judge in your life and practice of the faith. 00:54:05.41\00:54:08.62 And the inspection, the investigation, 00:54:08.65\00:54:11.45 the courtroom scene, the inspection of, 00:54:11.48\00:54:13.42 of-- "and witnesses that come forward as well" 00:54:13.45\00:54:18.80 are part of understanding. 00:54:18.83\00:54:20.98 And God's proclamation himself is to whether or not 00:54:21.01\00:54:24.10 you're truly a follower of God or if not. 00:54:24.13\00:54:27.00 John I'm just gonna read Matthew 7 here real quick. 00:54:27.03\00:54:30.70 Sure. And then I know 00:54:30.73\00:54:32.24 you're going somewhere as well. 00:54:32.27\00:54:34.41 Matthew 7: 21, 22. "Not everyone 00:54:34.44\00:54:38.00 who says to Me, 'Lord, Lord,' 00:54:38.03\00:54:39.36 shall enter the kingdom of heaven, 00:54:39.39\00:54:42.41 but he who does the will of My Father in heaven." 00:54:42.44\00:54:45.16 The will that is explained in His word. 00:54:45.19\00:54:48.52 "Many will say to Me in that day, 00:54:48.55\00:54:50.12 'Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, 00:54:50.15\00:54:52.28 cast out demons in Your name, 00:54:52.31\00:54:53.37 and done many wonders in Your name?' 00:54:53.40\00:54:54.51 And then I will declare to them, 00:54:54.54\00:54:56.19 'I never knew you, depart from Me, 00:54:56.22\00:54:58.62 you who practice lawlessness!' Therefore whoever hears 00:54:58.65\00:55:03.17 these sayings of Mine, "going back to the word" 00:55:03.20\00:55:05.27 and does them, I will liken him to a wise man 00:55:05.30\00:55:10.28 who built his house on the rock." 00:55:10.31\00:55:12.41 So the issue here is, even that you may have 00:55:12.44\00:55:15.09 except a Christ are you following Him and His word. 00:55:15.12\00:55:18.96 Because that is the determiner in the inspection of records 00:55:18.99\00:55:23.15 in the courtroom as to whether or not you're a true follower 00:55:23.18\00:55:25.98 or you're following Him on false pretences. 00:55:26.01\00:55:30.47 I'll tell you when you think about 00:55:30.50\00:55:32.12 this whole concept, what you say and how you live 00:55:32.15\00:55:36.34 is so huge when it comes to the judgment 00:55:36.37\00:55:39.60 because as the saint goes we could fool 00:55:39.63\00:55:42.99 some of the people, some of the times, 00:55:43.02\00:55:44.70 or all of the people some of the time. 00:55:44.73\00:55:46.53 But let me just modify the ending 00:55:46.56\00:55:48.26 you can never fool Christ. 00:55:48.29\00:55:49.60 That's the purpose of the judgment is to reveal 00:55:49.63\00:55:51.68 whether or not your actions 00:55:51.71\00:55:53.21 have been in harmony with your profession. 00:55:53.24\00:55:55.44 I know what you'll say but how do you live. 00:55:55.47\00:55:57.53 There you are. And so that's why when you look 00:55:57.56\00:55:59.30 at this whole concept of the Book of Psalms 150 chapter 00:55:59.33\00:56:03.09 of just, oh, we plea with the glory of God 00:56:03.12\00:56:06.16 but I like the way the book of Psalms it makes it clear. 00:56:06.19\00:56:09.65 He says "The ungodly shall not stand in the judgment, 00:56:09.68\00:56:15.39 nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous." 00:56:15.42\00:56:18.38 The purpose of the judgment is to make sure 00:56:18.41\00:56:19.95 that when the time comes you're standing in the right place. 00:56:19.98\00:56:22.93 That's right. Or where am I going to stand. 00:56:22.96\00:56:24.52 Who, the great day of his wrath has come, Revelation 6:17. 00:56:24.55\00:56:28.38 I think that's the text. 00:56:28.41\00:56:29.47 "The the great day of His wrath has come, 00:56:29.50\00:56:31.73 and who is able to stand?" 00:56:31.76\00:56:33.68 And David says "Well the ungodly 00:56:33.71\00:56:35.84 will not stand in the judgment. 00:56:35.87\00:56:37.28 Nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous." 00:56:37.31\00:56:40.14 The whole issue is when this is all done 00:56:40.17\00:56:41.73 where you're going to stand? 00:56:41.76\00:56:43.06 I plan on standing on the sea of glass. 00:56:43.09\00:56:44.90 I know, that's your plan also. 00:56:44.93\00:56:46.18 So the judgment is gonna reveal where we stand. 00:56:46.21\00:56:48.71 Amen. So I think to reiterate as we close 00:56:48.74\00:56:52.49 don't fear the judgment. 00:56:52.52\00:56:54.09 Make sure you're depended upon Jesus 00:56:54.12\00:56:57.00 and you're trusting in Him. 00:56:57.03\00:56:58.10 But also the standard by which he is set for judgment 00:56:58.13\00:57:01.21 which is His word that you're following His word 00:57:01.24\00:57:03.74 because that is the one where you can be sure 00:57:03.77\00:57:06.33 that you have Him as your advocate 00:57:06.36\00:57:08.41 in the courts of heaven. 00:57:08.44\00:57:10.46 Great are your tender mercies on Lord, 00:57:10.49\00:57:12.66 revive me according to Your judgments, Psalms 115:156. 00:57:12.69\00:57:17.75 He is a great and just judge. 00:57:17.78\00:57:19.53 We fear not the judgment because we know the judge, 00:57:19.56\00:57:22.66 we know the advocate, we know the person of Jesus. 00:57:22.69\00:57:25.08 If God before us, who can be against us today 00:57:25.11\00:57:29.38 is your day to choose Him as your judge and your advocate. 00:57:29.41\00:57:32.23 Make that decision today. 00:57:32.26\00:57:34.00 God bless you. 00:57:34.03\00:57:35.71
