like this with parents

almost anxietic, anxiety state

because they are so
torn up about their kids

and lifestyle
that they are living.

And so just a few pieces
of what Karen writes here.

She quotes a text, she
says from Isaiah 49:25, it says,

"Thus saith the Lord,
even the captives of the mighty

shall be taken away,

and the prey of the
terrible shall be delivered.

personage as a testimony,

my dad prayed for me.

So I know that prayer does this,

understanding how
exactly that works,

we don't know all
the signs of prayer

but we can say this.

Something about
prayer, intercessory prayer

moves the heart of God.

Not to be more loving or more
active towards an individual

gives a permissibility,

if prayers weren't been offered.

where this great battle

that's occurring
beyond what our eyes can see,

Christ versus Satan.

Satan trying to
destroy life, Satan would say,

"You have no
permission, he is mine,

he resides in my kingdom"
and God responding saying,

"I do have permission because
his parents are inviting me

to come and intervene in this.

I am here to do and
answer their prayer."

So I think of that picture when
I think of intercessory prayer

that God does do certain things

and is allowed
to do certain things

because we pray in
behalf of others. Right.

And there's something that
I think we need to do more of,

it's a very selfish
thing to just pray for yourself

and have your own prayer
list for blessings of your own.

And I am included in this, I
need to pray more for others.

I know some of
you are very good that

but I encourage you Karen,

keep praying for your kids

because that's the
one thing you can do.

There's something in your email

that does cause me
to be a little concern

and that is that you mentioned

that every time
they come around,

encourage them in the Lord

and kind of push
them in that direction.

I would be very careful on that

sometimes by our intensity,

they can
perceive it as obnoxious

or something that they
can even be more resistant

if you push at a time
that you should not push.

And so I would be very careful
when they come around your home,

when you are there, when
they are there love them,

care for them, show your
concern for them as a parent

but be very careful to venture
onto the religious ground

if they are not
open to receiving that

because you can just push
them away a little further.

I've seen some parents
even raising their kids

actually push
them away from the Lord

by their intensity and
their rigorous planning

and how they raise their kids

and we have to be careful
about that as parents as well.

Sometimes we-- and I am so glad
you mentioned about your dad.

And I remember that
story very well, you know,

while you are partying and your
dad is upstairs praying for you

and in your frivolous youth.
00:08:02.15\00:08:05.53
He is praying
for you to be saved
00:08:05.56\00:08:07.54
and the Lord did come into
your life in a powerful way
00:08:07.57\00:08:09.84
and look at you today.

And then I also have
the privilege of writing
00:08:11.36\00:08:13.39
a song called Momma's Prayer
00:08:13.42\00:08:15.56
because I know that
after my mother died
00:08:15.59\00:08:18.21
that is the lady who raised me,
00:08:18.24\00:08:20.13
I went out into the
world and I remember distinctly
00:08:20.16\00:08:23.27
my sister said,
"Before momma passed away,
00:08:23.30\00:08:26.26
she wanted to let you
know she prayed for you."
00:08:26.29\00:08:29.52
And I could see that
surely God has made a covenant
00:08:29.55\00:08:33.16
and covenant is a beautiful
thing because the covenant--
00:08:33.19\00:08:36.58
when there's a covenant made,
00:08:36.61\00:08:38.46
God commits Himself
to keeping that covenant.
00:08:38.49\00:08:41.60
You know, Bible says in Timothy,
00:08:41.63\00:08:46.04
"I know in whom I have believed
00:08:46.07\00:08:49.57
and I know that he is
also able to keep that
00:08:49.60\00:08:52.40
which I have committed
to him against that day."
00:08:52.43\00:08:55.88
So sometimes parent say,

"Lord, I am
committing my children to you."
00:08:57.27\00:08:59.57
And there's a beautiful
story in the Book of Hosea,
00:08:59.60\00:09:01.36
if you ever want
to find encouragement,
00:09:01.39\00:09:03.09
read the Book of Hosea about
a relationship between a man
00:09:03.12\00:09:07.58
name Hosea and
a wife name Gomer.
00:09:07.61\00:09:10.34
And the Lord knew even before
they got married that Gomer
00:09:10.37\00:09:14.37
would be unfaithful
over and over and over again
00:09:14.40\00:09:17.57
until the
relationship got to the point
00:09:17.60\00:09:19.45
where it
disintegrated and Gomer left.
00:09:19.48\00:09:21.99
And God said in
His word, He said,
00:09:22.02\00:09:23.78
"I will bar a purvey
00:09:23.81\00:09:26.06
that she will not be
able to over take her lovers.
00:09:26.09\00:09:28.58
She will pursue them but
she will never overtake them."
00:09:28.61\00:09:31.36
In another words,
sometimes we have children
00:09:31.39\00:09:33.46
that leave the
church, leave the family,
00:09:33.49\00:09:35.78
go out into the world
00:09:35.81\00:09:37.20
and they are so--
I use this phrase,

they are so determined to
just grab on to everything

the world has to offer

that they are pursuing
it, pursuing it over family.

In California that,
was members of our church

and one day we got a call
from the wife and she said,

"My husband was raised

all his life in
the Adventist church,

he went through all
the Adventist schools,
00:09:58.93\00:10:00.39
he went through all the--
00:10:00.42\00:10:01.92
his mom and dad
were Adventist Christians
00:10:01.95\00:10:04.82
and one day he just said to me
00:10:04.85\00:10:06.56
after our children
were born and some of them,
00:10:06.59\00:10:09.08
they were in elementary school.
00:10:09.11\00:10:10.99
He just came home one day
and made the announcement,
00:10:11.02\00:10:12.88
'I am leaving you, I
am leaving the family,
00:10:12.91\00:10:15.07
I am leaving the church.
00:10:15.10\00:10:16.18
You haven't done anything wrong.
00:10:16.21\00:10:17.67
I just feel that
all my life I've missed
00:10:17.70\00:10:19.40
what the world has to
offer and I want to enjoy it.
00:10:19.43\00:10:21.91
I want to find out what
the world has to offer.'"
00:10:21.94\00:10:23.86
And to this day, this has been,
00:10:23.89\00:10:26.55
you know, maybe 15 years ago,
00:10:26.58\00:10:27.98
to this day he is not back yet.

And when you think
about situations like that,

you think, man, how is
that going to be reversed.

But God in the Book of Hosea,

one of the most
beautiful stories,

I did a sermon entitled
"Remembering how it was."

And when you look at that story,

it reversed to
the point where Hosea,
00:10:44.69\00:10:47.12
where Gomer said
after she went out
00:10:47.15\00:10:49.39
and saw that everything
she pursued was of no value
00:10:49.42\00:10:52.61
and it didn't
bring any lasting joy.
00:10:52.64\00:10:55.36
She said, "I will go
and return to my husband
00:10:55.39\00:10:59.48
for it was better with me
then, than it is with me now."
00:10:59.51\00:11:03.26
And I know people
that have left the church,
00:11:03.29\00:11:04.97
I was growing up with a lot
of friends who left the church
00:11:05.00\00:11:07.39
and they went out into the world
00:11:07.42\00:11:08.58
and got involved in
all kinds of things,
00:11:08.61\00:11:10.99
some of the women
became very permissive
00:11:11.02\00:11:13.17
and God involved in their life
00:11:13.20\00:11:14.23
and the guys got involved in
drugs and crime and all that.
00:11:14.26\00:11:17.46
And some of them were fortunate
enough by God's protection
00:11:17.49\00:11:20.58
to survive that and come back in
the church and are re-anchored.
00:11:20.61\00:11:24.68
And God is just
that kind of God.

But this is the text
that I like to share with you

in the Book of Exodus 14.

It is amazing that sometimes
we feel that it's better for us

to live the way we want to live
00:11:41.39\00:11:44.34
and but God gives a
message in these two verses,
00:11:44.37\00:11:46.59
these-- actually and we
see, these three verses.
00:11:46.62\00:11:51.06
Okay, I will give you
four verses, all right.
00:11:51.09\00:11:53.53
We just go ahead, do
I hear, do I hear five?
00:11:53.56\00:11:56.53
Four verses here in Exodus
14, starting with verse 12.
00:11:56.56\00:12:00.70
Now, what I want to
get the context here
00:12:00.73\00:12:03.37
is the Lord has led
His children out of Egypt.
00:12:03.40\00:12:07.49
They are no longer under the
bondage of pharaoh and his army.
00:12:07.52\00:12:10.50
They are no
longer slaves in Egypt.
00:12:10.53\00:12:12.48
Let me put that in context.
00:12:12.51\00:12:14.02
As the Christian
they are no longer--
00:12:14.05\00:12:15.62
they are not in the world,
00:12:15.65\00:12:17.41
they are no longer
under the power of the world
00:12:17.44\00:12:19.35
but look at what happens.
00:12:19.38\00:12:20.73
In their Christian journey,
00:12:20.76\00:12:22.03
in the journey
towards the Promised Land,

look at that
they said in verse 12,
00:12:23.91\00:12:26.69
"Is this not the word
that we told you in Egypt,
00:12:26.72\00:12:31.41
saying, let us alone, that
we may serve the Egyptians?"
00:12:31.44\00:12:34.70
In another words, we like that,
00:12:34.73\00:12:36.61
I mean we want to do that.
00:12:36.64\00:12:38.36
And then he said,
00:12:38.39\00:12:39.42
"For it would have been better
for us to serve the Egyptians,
00:12:39.45\00:12:42.71
than that we should
die in the wilderness."

And they thought
that God had brought them
00:12:45.11\00:12:46.91
to the wilderness
experience for their detriment
00:12:46.94\00:12:50.53
rather than for their salvation

but I like what
the response was.

And sometimes
we have to remember

that God is
fighting these battles.

Verse 13, "And Moses said to
the people, do not be afraid."

And sometimes
parents, you have to do this.

"Stand still, and see
the salvation of the Lord,

which he will
accomplish for you today,

for the Egyptians
whom you see today,
00:13:11.39\00:13:14.06
you shall see
again no more for ever."

And this is the
thing you have to remember.

"The Lord will fight for you,
and you shall hold your peace.

And the Lord said to
Moses, 'Why do you cry to me?

Tell the children of
Israel to go forward.'"

So when your children realize
that Lord is fighting for them,

you got to say to them,

the only responsibility
you have is to go forward.

and but sometimes we
just have to be intermediary

fighting these battles

We know how that goes.

But I am back now and
how wonderful it's gong to be

to see that all of her prayers
that she prayed did pay off.

God does honor those who
make a covenant with Him.

And that covenant is
a covenant by sacrifice.

Father, I am going to
keep my children before You,

You just save them for me.

So don't lose heart.

God will do it in
His way and in His time.

We have to be
patient with His way. Yeah.

levitated from their beds.

you make of all this?

Well, I tell you,
it's conditioning our mind

to think more and
more along these terms

devil works quite differently.

we see in the scriptures

where Saul who was king of
Israel went to see a witch,

he went to see her he said,

"Will you call
up Samuel for me?"

And this witch calls up
what appeared to be Samuel.

So this demonic
spirit comes up as Samuel,

looks like Samuel,
sounds like Samuel.

It's not Samuel, I mean the
witch is the one calling him up,

not God bringing him down.

He is coming up from the ground
00:18:45.51\00:18:47.61
and so this is
clearly a demonic spirit

but he looks and sounds and the
senses say that it is Samuel.

This is the way the devil works

and he does this
throughout scripture.

And it's a great
deception for not only him

but it's a tactic that
he uses to open our minds,

our hearts to messages
that are from his kingdom

messages that come from God.

about familiar spirits

I remember a story of a family
that talked about a little girl

who had died and
this is really sad but,

and the mother
so missed that girl,

she lamented and cried
and after about a few months

after this girl
died, she started

seeing apparitions of
this girl in the home.

And then it got--
it went from apparition

to something
actually manifesting itself

and the mother would
reach out and pick her up

and put her on her lap and
have conversations with her.

And after a few months
of this kind of activity

reveal it to her husband

who was a Christian.

This family was a Christian.

But the mother had so lamented

over the loss of their daughter,

daughter of 5, 6 years old.

She finally
revealed it to her husband

but shook her back
into reality saying,

That's a demon in our home."

And they got together
and they besiege the Lord,

manifest itself and say,

over the loss of their daughter

and the next thing you know

she's having these
conversations with her.

And the husband said,
this what you need to do

when it happens
again, in the name of Jesus

gave some specific words to say

and how to pray and
it ceased to happen.

people at my church,

They would be
sitting down having dinner.

And they say, "Oh, we
have this friendly ghost.

She's a female
ghost and she shows up

around dinner time.

She's really funny,
she always cracks jokes."

And all the family
members are seeing this.

And I am saying,
"That is not funny."

That's how Satan is seeking
to find a way in by this.

And they said,
"Oh, she is so funny."

And we had one of
the family members,

I won't mention
his name but he said,

"I don't laugh
because I know it's satanic.

I know it's demonic."

But the father, the mother,

the daughter,
they laughed about it.

They all says, "It always
crack jokes, makes us laugh."

And I said, "Where
does this thing show up?"

sitting there having dinner.

that where the pastor obviously

don't believe that

They use this phrase,

"We're having a
home going service."

Like they are going home,
you know, heaven is my home.

They use this

And they are using
these terminologies

to somehow plant seeds
in people's minds that,

Oh, they are home with the Lord.

What they
actually do is they ignore

of verses that says

that they could
not be in heaven.

And so in effect
what they have done is

they made the Bible
to contradict itself

by teaching that those
who have died are in heaven,

they are actually
causing the Word of God

if there's life after death

and spirits beyond that
you can communicate with.

And all of a sudden
Satan starts to ramp up,

at the very end of time

talking about two sanctuaries,

the primary one
which exists in heaven

the copy of that
heavenly sanctuary

that existed on the earth

On the Tablets of Stone

pattern of the tabernacle,

and the pattern of

He is asking Moses to
have them make Him a sanctuary

so that He might dwell with them

pattern of all the sanctuary

to Moses during these 40 days

while he's up there with Him.

us that God is specific

because He has a pattern.

You see, we all
know what a pattern is,

it's a blueprint in essence to--

So He didn't say to Moses,
"Hey, make me a sanctuary,

you figure it out" but he says,

give you the pattern

and according to what
I've shown you in the mount."

And that's when Moses, as
you said was in the mountain

for 40 days and 40
nights. So the sanctuary

that He gives him-it's the
other thing I like to make is.

He said, "Let them make it
that I may dwell among them."

Now I want to just
give a little bit of support

to the dwelling part.

You see the
temple or the sanctuary,

the earthly
sanctuary that they built.

The glory of God was

That's sanctuary language.

Because in the sanctuary
the only one that had the right

to be in the Most Holy
Place was the high priest.
