glimpse behind the scenes

guy that runs sound--

that runs sound for us,

when we started
about 7 years ago,

he still being the sound person,

there used to be some very loud,

audible arguments
that we couldn't hear

because the sound
room is so far away.

But we'd always find
out after the program

that he went home steaming.

He was upset. He
went home hot today.

Well, he didn't
like that topic at all.

And this went on
for a number of years

without our understanding,

without us knowing at
all until one day I was told,

"Man, you guys are really
pounding him with these texts.

He's just--he's just
upset. He just wants to quit.
00:03:01.87\00:03:03.86
He just doesn't like what
he's hearing." And I thought,

"Well, all we're
doing is sharing the Bible."

And then one day,
he told me--he says--
00:03:08.52\00:03:11.93
as he was gonna tell
me the story, he says,
00:03:11.96\00:03:13.33
"well, you know, I
decided instead of arguing
00:03:13.36\00:03:15.22
with you guys, go home
and check it out in the Bible.
00:03:15.25\00:03:17.48
And I did and what you guys
00:03:17.51\00:03:18.88
have been saying
over the years was true."
00:03:18.91\00:03:20.98
And so I got a call
into the sound room one day
00:03:21.01\00:03:23.02
and he said to me,
"Okay, all right, all right.
00:03:23.05\00:03:26.22
I'm done. I'm done.
I-- I'm done fighting.
00:03:26.25\00:03:30.77
What do I need to do
to join your church?"
00:03:30.80\00:03:33.74
And this had been a
course of 4, 5 years. And--
00:03:33.77\00:03:38.16
but God's word is true
from the very beginning.

The Bible says, "Your word
is true from the beginning."
00:03:41.00\00:03:43.55
So what we're
talking about today is--

we're not talking about--
00:03:45.32\00:03:46.69
we're not talking
against people at all.

So please don't
receive the understanding

that we're trying
to bash individuals

or beat up people
that have certain beliefs.

We are champions of truth.
That's exactly who we are.

God has called us to say,

"This is what God's word says.

This is not our opinion,

this is not
what we came up with,

And a few months
ago, just another story--

this? Well, you know, I just--

we heard not too long ago

that people are
inclined to believe

already want to believe

or what they
already feel they know.

So when it comes to truth,
it is very uncomfortable for us

to hear something that
is not according to what,

maybe, we've thought or the idea

we've held for sometimes many,
many years or even all our life.

Right. And today is
really one of those topics.

You're gonna hear
some things from God's word

that you may not
realize are there.

And also, we'll talk about some
of the common misconceptions,

some of the texts we
use to teach something

that really isn't
taught in the Bible.

So just because something
is uncomfortable to us,

not held as a view,

doesn't mean it's
necessarily true. Right.

we relate to when we talk

The nature of man is
another way of saying that.

"The fire that consumes."

Tell me about that
because you were telling--

Yeah, this movie is called
"Hell and Mr. Fudge." Okay.

I know it's coming
out here fairly shortly

and so look forward--
it's supposed to release

toward the end of 2012,
beginning of 2013 somewhere.

So--but it's a story of his
life and the challenges he faced

as he found
this incredible truth

and then the opposition
that rose up against him for it.

Anyway, an exciting
movie, a full-length feature.

but it's on the topic

And when he came, he
talked about the fact

that he had believed hell
was a burning forever place

and that people depart and
go there and it was amazing

how these things had
embraced his mind so much.

But then as he decided
to go into an in-depth study

and put a book
together, he said,

"Well, let me go
through the whole Bible,

put all those verses
together that talk about death,

what happens when a person dies,

man's natural state at
death and before death,

and he came to realize
that what he had believed
00:07:36.63\00:07:39.50
was completely opposite
to what the Bible taught.

And then he began to write
books and now the third edition

is entitled "The
fire that consumes."

And it has really set
fires in a lot of denominations.

This is becoming a
bigger issue. Right.

A really hotly debated
issue, here, out there.

No pun intended. Yeah,
within Christianity itself.

So it's very relevant
today, what we're talking about.

there was a time, John,

where the preaching of hell
and brimstone, when, you know,

you're gonna go to hell and
burn forever and ever has been

the catalyst to get people
to give their lives to Christ.

It's a motivator. Yeah.

I mean, think about it.
One of the greatest deterrents

for what we do is the
punishment we receive, right?
00:08:18.08\00:08:21.46
I mean, isn't that the way--
kind of way we raise our kids?

If you do that--
You're gonna get a spanking.

You're gonna get
a spanking. Yeah.

So you know if you do it,

then you get-- so
the same motivator.

If you don't follow Jesus,
you'll burn in hell forever.

The problem is,
is that the motivator

always for our conversion
and for following Christ

needs to be based on-- His love.

Love. That's right. Always love.

It's a much better motivator,

better than the
other 4 letter word.

And, you know,
so we're gonna talk

about that today in
a very significant way.

And we do believe in
hell but I think the hell

we believe in is hotter

than the hell that
most Christians believe in.

Because, you know,
the common teaching

is people are gonna
be continuing to burn.

We believe as the Bible
teaches and you'll see this,

that people will
burn up eventually.

There will be nothing remaining

and then there'll be
a recreation of earth

and immortality for all of those

who accepted Christ
without a big old hole

with people burning
somewhere in the distance.

The difference is
that, a single 2 letter word.

It's commonly
believed that people burn.

We believe they burn up.
Exactly. Very good point.

You know, Job is a powerful book

happens when a person dies.

Job 33:4. "The
Spirit of God has made me

and the breath of the
Almighty gives me life."

Spirit and breath. Okay,
so you have a duplicity here.

He's basically saying
the same thing in two ways.

The Spirit of God
has made me, it's a fact.

God's spirit goes
forth from Him and creates.

And specifically, the breath
of the Almighty gives me life.

That's right. It's a repetition
thing that he's saying here,

connecting the spirit
of God which is God Himself

the Almighty giving life.

verse 6 what it says.

Now the heavens were
made. What are the heavens?

When you think about
the heavens, what are those?

Stars, sun, moon,
planets, all those things,

the galaxies, those were
made by the word of the Lord.

He commanded it
and it stood fast.

But notice here,

what does the host refer to?

that does the hospitality,

charge at the moment.

that people are
welcome and comfortable.

The host of them
are the ones that exist,

that live within the
worlds that God created.

All right. Okay, I got it.

And it says, "The host were made

or the host of them were made
by the breath of His mouth."

Okay. So here's the difference.

God spoke the world into
existence but with His breath.

He became very
close and intimate

to create life, the life of man.

That's right, the host. He
didn't use that, necessarily,

to create everything
but He creates mankind

with the breath of His mouth.

So with that thought,
we go to Genesis chapter 2

and we see the formation of Adam

and how God put Adam together

to create life
here on this earth.

That's right. Let's

And if you don't

Now the reason why we're
going to read this passage

and life are opposite.

We're gonna see how man was made

and what components man has.

And then we're gonna
see the reverse of that.

What happens.
What was put into man,

what leaves man at death.

Okay, this is very important.

Essentially death
in is without any life.

of Genesis chapter 2.

man of the dust of the ground

and breathed into his
nostrils the breath of life

and man became a living being."

If you're following
the King James Version,

it says, "Man
became a living soul."

Soul and being
are the same word.
00:13:45.54\00:13:48.02
And, John, a lot of
times, people say, "Ah, soul,"
00:13:48.05\00:13:51.24
and they read, instead
of man became a living soul,

they somehow--
they metamorphosize
00:13:54.85\00:13:57.98
this into their minds
and even some churches

that "man has a living soul."

The difference is man
"became" a living soul,

not man "has" a living soul.
