My name is John. 00:00:36.79\00:00:39.00 I wanted your name. Good, good, good. 00:00:39.01\00:00:40.99 I just took your name. 00:00:41.00\00:00:42.37 I'm John. He is James. 00:00:42.38\00:00:43.65 We're the sons of thunder 00:00:43.66\00:00:44.89 but we have been thundering the word of God together. Amen. 00:00:44.90\00:00:48.08 And good to have you here, James. 00:00:48.09\00:00:49.09 Good to be here, John. You've been here so much. 00:00:49.10\00:00:51.86 I've just taken your name. All right. 00:00:51.87\00:00:55.92 Well, I don't want-- I can still have it. 00:00:55.93\00:00:56.92 I don't want to take your name. 00:00:56.93\00:00:57.92 I think your wife treasures your name 00:00:57.93\00:00:59.18 and my wife treasures mine. 00:00:59.19\00:01:00.33 But, really good to have you in the saddle to divide-- 00:01:00.34\00:01:03.74 rightly divide the word of truth, that's important. Amen. 00:01:03.75\00:01:06.50 And so, friends, I know you've joined us 00:01:06.51\00:01:08.50 for really good time in the Lord. 00:01:08.51\00:01:10.53 And so get your Bibles, get your families. 00:01:10.54\00:01:13.20 If you're at church joining us, 00:01:13.21\00:01:14.49 we welcome you to the program. 00:01:14.50\00:01:16.55 And we always like to pray 00:01:16.56\00:01:18.50 before we do anything else though 00:01:18.51\00:01:19.62 because we have some Bible questions. 00:01:19.63\00:01:21.50 And we have a continued topic of the Three Angels messages. 00:01:21.51\00:01:24.92 We're gonna talk about them in particular. 00:01:24.93\00:01:27.87 What are those messages? 00:01:27.88\00:01:29.63 Where do they come from? 00:01:29.64\00:01:30.77 What do they mean to us today? 00:01:30.78\00:01:31.85 But before we do anything, 00:01:31.86\00:01:32.92 well, I'd like to ask James, to have a prayer for us. Amen. 00:01:32.93\00:01:37.11 Father in Heaven, again, 00:01:37.12\00:01:38.12 we just want to thank You for this opportunity. 00:01:38.13\00:01:39.98 We've got several questions, 00:01:39.99\00:01:41.43 important questions that are being asked. 00:01:41.44\00:01:43.07 We are asking for Your guidance 00:01:43.08\00:01:44.33 as we move through these questions 00:01:44.34\00:01:46.00 that we can find Bible answers, Bible verses. 00:01:46.01\00:01:48.90 We're also discussing the Three Angels messages, 00:01:48.91\00:01:51.72 Revelation 14 and this is an important topic 00:01:51.73\00:01:55.36 and we're just praying that Your Spirit 00:01:55.37\00:01:57.29 will work on our minds and our hearts in such a way 00:01:57.30\00:02:00.31 that we will open to the-- to understand the truth 00:02:00.32\00:02:04.24 that You have revealed in these messages, 00:02:04.25\00:02:06.12 the everlasting Gospel truth that forms and formulates 00:02:06.13\00:02:09.49 each one of these messages as they come to each of us. 00:02:09.50\00:02:12.62 Be with our audience. Be with us, John, myself. 00:02:12.63\00:02:15.50 Guide and direct us, as we open the word right now. 00:02:15.51\00:02:18.40 We pray in Jesus name, amen. 00:02:18.41\00:02:20.52 Amen. Thank you, James, for that. 00:02:20.53\00:02:23.15 And remember if you have any questions, 00:02:23.16\00:02:25.44 I know that, people say, 00:02:25.45\00:02:27.39 "Uh, House calls, I have a question." 00:02:27.40\00:02:29.78 If you do have a question, 00:02:29.79\00:02:31.28 here's the address to which you can send 00:02:31.29\00:02:32.74 that question housecalls@3abn.org, 00:02:32.75\00:02:35.65 that's housecalls@3abn.org. 00:02:35.66\00:02:38.81 And we download them and try to pick out which one to use. 00:02:38.82\00:02:42.56 Hopefully, your question will be addressed today. 00:02:42.57\00:02:44.80 So James, what do you have for us? 00:02:44.81\00:02:46.23 Well, a question, first question here, 00:02:46.24\00:02:48.75 has to do again with death and with resurrection. 00:02:48.76\00:02:53.64 It's coming for a different angle this time. 00:02:53.65\00:02:56.15 What happened to the people 00:02:56.16\00:02:57.63 who rose as a result of the earthquake at Jesus death? 00:02:57.64\00:03:02.63 Somehow I have the belief that they ascended to heaven 00:03:02.64\00:03:05.33 when Jesus went to heaven. 00:03:05.34\00:03:07.07 If that is so, when did their judgment take place? 00:03:07.08\00:03:10.23 I thought that judgment of the dead began in 1844. 00:03:10.24\00:03:14.22 So this is a good question. 00:03:14.23\00:03:15.33 There may be some of our viewers, John, 00:03:15.34\00:03:16.81 who are not aware of the nature of this question. 00:03:16.82\00:03:20.87 In other words, they don't even know about these people 00:03:20.88\00:03:23.78 that arose at the resurrection of Jesus Christ. 00:03:23.79\00:03:26.40 So I thought it would be good for us 00:03:26.41\00:03:27.61 to look at the context of this question. 00:03:27.62\00:03:29.82 It's in Matthew Chapter 27. Matthew Chapter 27. 00:03:29.83\00:03:33.89 It is the last few moments of the life of Jesus. 00:03:33.90\00:03:37.67 He's hanging on the cross. 00:03:37.68\00:03:40.07 And it says here in Matthew 27 beginning with verse 51 00:03:40.08\00:03:45.91 that "The temple of God 00:03:45.92\00:03:47.59 has just been rent in two from top to bottom. 00:03:47.60\00:03:50.40 Jesus has just yielded up His life with a loud voice." 00:03:50.41\00:03:57.09 And so verse 51, "And, behold, the temple-- 00:03:57.10\00:03:58.94 the veil of the temple was rent in twain in two 00:03:58.95\00:04:00.85 from top to bottom, and the earth did quake, 00:04:00.86\00:04:04.04 and the rocks rent." 00:04:04.05\00:04:05.11 The rocks were torn apart, broken apart. 00:04:05.12\00:04:07.83 Verse 52, here's the key verse, 00:04:07.84\00:04:10.06 "And the graves were opened, 00:04:10.07\00:04:11.95 and many bodies of the saints which slept arose." 00:04:11.96\00:04:16.31 I want to pause there for just a second. 00:04:16.32\00:04:18.61 Many of the bodies, the resurrection 00:04:18.62\00:04:21.94 involves bodies, people, 00:04:21.95\00:04:24.26 the bodies that were in the grave. 00:04:24.27\00:04:25.86 The bodies are there, in the sepulchres in the graves 00:04:25.87\00:04:28.41 and the resurrection involves them, 00:04:28.42\00:04:30.05 those bodies being resurrected, 00:04:30.06\00:04:31.92 reunited with the Spirit of God 00:04:31.93\00:04:33.50 and again becoming living souls. 00:04:33.51\00:04:36.20 And then it says in verse 53, 00:04:36.21\00:04:37.53 "And they came out of the graves 00:04:37.54\00:04:39.17 after His resurrection, and went into the holy city, 00:04:39.18\00:04:43.01 and appeared unto many." 00:04:43.02\00:04:45.74 Before we get into this topic, this is a very unusual story. 00:04:45.75\00:04:50.91 This is a very unusual occurrence. 00:04:50.92\00:04:53.28 Jesus Christ has just been crucified. 00:04:53.29\00:04:55.18 He's died and as He dies, there's a great earthquake. 00:04:55.19\00:05:00.50 The earth is opened in such a manner 00:05:00.51\00:05:03.82 that people come forth, bodies come forth from the graves. 00:05:03.83\00:05:07.05 Rocks are broken in half. 00:05:07.06\00:05:09.40 This is violent. This is intense. 00:05:09.41\00:05:11.67 And these people that come forth, 00:05:11.68\00:05:14.05 these dead people that come forth after His resurrection. 00:05:14.06\00:05:17.39 I think that's important. 00:05:17.40\00:05:19.73 We haven't arrived at Christ resurrection 00:05:19.74\00:05:21.46 because He's just died and He doesn't resurrect yet 00:05:21.47\00:05:24.63 until the first day of the week, Sunday morning. 00:05:24.64\00:05:27.76 But we know that when He resurrects, 00:05:27.77\00:05:30.03 He resurrects in a bodily form, and that body is glorified. 00:05:30.04\00:05:34.34 In other words, this--we're not talking here about zombies. 00:05:34.35\00:05:37.06 We're not talking here about the night of living dead. 00:05:37.07\00:05:39.17 We're talking here about people 00:05:39.18\00:05:41.15 who are appearing as resurrected 00:05:41.16\00:05:44.55 people are appearing in a form that is glorified. 00:05:44.56\00:05:47.84 They are appearing in a form like humans 00:05:47.85\00:05:50.43 but they looked good. Their bodies together. 00:05:50.44\00:05:52.79 Their smile, their appealing, Jesus Christ, 00:05:52.80\00:05:55.72 we know His resurrection, He met with His disciples. 00:05:55.73\00:05:57.94 He met with different people. 00:05:57.95\00:05:59.00 He walked to a mass along the way with disciples 00:05:59.01\00:06:00.83 and He was a person. 00:06:00.84\00:06:01.95 He was a regular person, in flesh and blood, 00:06:01.96\00:06:03.79 that's how these people are appearing. 00:06:03.80\00:06:05.76 They are appearing in a resurrected form, 00:06:05.77\00:06:07.68 taken forth from the grave and so the question 00:06:07.69\00:06:10.17 that has been asked is though what happened to them? 00:06:10.18\00:06:11.98 Well, we know the first thing 00:06:11.99\00:06:13.17 that happened to them is that they went into the city, 00:06:13.18\00:06:16.48 Jerusalem, and they began to testify. 00:06:16.49\00:06:19.08 What were they testifying of, of the resurrection. 00:06:19.09\00:06:21.64 They've been resurrected and they began to testify 00:06:21.65\00:06:23.95 and I don't know who these people were. 00:06:23.96\00:06:25.97 Doesn't say--well, that was-- 00:06:25.98\00:06:26.97 one was Elijah, one was Jeremiah. Right. 00:06:26.98\00:06:28.42 It doesn't really tell us. 00:06:28.43\00:06:29.85 But we know that they were believers. 00:06:29.86\00:06:31.54 That's why they were resurrected. 00:06:31.55\00:06:33.01 And we know that they were testifying 00:06:33.02\00:06:34.40 of the works of Christ, of the works of God. 00:06:34.41\00:06:36.98 And verifying where it happened in the death of Jesus Christ. 00:06:36.99\00:06:41.34 As a matter of fact, when you look at that, 00:06:41.35\00:06:43.27 they are also referred to as first fruits. 00:06:43.28\00:06:46.68 First fruits, when you think of the season of harvest, 00:06:46.69\00:06:51.01 the first fruits represent the entire harvest 00:06:51.02\00:06:55.10 but they are not the entire harvest. 00:06:55.11\00:06:57.26 They are just a sample of the harvest. Okay. 00:06:57.27\00:06:59.99 And I think you're gonna mention this 00:07:00.00\00:07:01.35 about leading captivity captive, 00:07:01.36\00:07:03.02 you talk about that, I want to leave that for you. 00:07:03.03\00:07:05.37 But when you read Revelation, 00:07:05.38\00:07:07.44 you find that when 00:07:07.45\00:07:10.37 the court scene is talked about, 00:07:10.38\00:07:14.89 and those who sit in Judgment of those 00:07:14.90\00:07:22.19 who will appear before the Judgment seat of Christ. 00:07:22.20\00:07:25.69 We never in earthly courts are judged 00:07:25.70\00:07:28.05 by anyone other than our peers. 00:07:28.06\00:07:31.59 And this is something that's so widely important. 00:07:31.60\00:07:33.34 So the Bible suggests in a number of ways 00:07:33.35\00:07:37.92 that these were taken to Heaven 00:07:37.93\00:07:41.33 as first fruits representing it and, 00:07:41.34\00:07:43.45 I'll leave it to you to give the scriptures there. 00:07:43.46\00:07:45.33 But you find in Revelation 00:07:45.34\00:07:46.82 when John has given a glimpse of Heaven, 00:07:46.83\00:07:49.92 remember this, angels are never called elders, 00:07:49.93\00:07:54.37 and God, the father, 00:07:54.38\00:07:55.81 son of Holy Spirit's never called an elder. 00:07:55.82\00:07:59.00 But when you look at the picture there 00:07:59.01\00:08:00.45 in Revelation 4, Revelation 4:1 speaks about, 00:08:00.46\00:08:03.80 "I saw Heaven open." 00:08:03.81\00:08:05.62 And then John has given the vision. 00:08:05.63\00:08:06.87 He says, "Around the throne," 00:08:06.88\00:08:09.00 Revelation 4:4, "Were twenty-four thrones 00:08:09.01\00:08:12.24 and on that thrones, I saw twenty-four elders sitting, 00:08:12.25\00:08:16.18 clothed in white robes 00:08:16.19\00:08:19.38 and they had crowns of gold on their heads." 00:08:19.39\00:08:22.26 In verse 10, "And the twenty-four elders 00:08:22.27\00:08:24.12 fall down before him who sit on the throne, 00:08:24.13\00:08:26.17 and worship him who lives for ever and ever 00:08:26.18\00:08:29.54 and cast their crowns before the throne." 00:08:29.55\00:08:33.28 And so you find whenever the Bible talks 00:08:33.29\00:08:34.87 about the elders, elders are always used 00:08:34.88\00:08:38.30 in reference to those who were on earth. 00:08:38.31\00:08:41.92 Humanity, elders are never used 00:08:41.93\00:08:43.44 in reference to angels or divine beings. 00:08:43.45\00:08:47.01 So the question is how did these elders get there? 00:08:47.02\00:08:51.39 And you look in the context of the Bible, 00:08:51.40\00:08:54.84 Ephesians for example, Chapter 4 and verse 8, 00:08:54.85\00:08:59.19 it's telling us that when Jesus ascended on high, 00:08:59.20\00:09:02.22 I'm just gonna read the verse here. Sure. 00:09:02.23\00:09:03.49 Ephesians 4:8, "Wherefore He said, 00:09:03.50\00:09:05.85 when He ascended up on high, 00:09:05.86\00:09:07.30 He led captivity captive and gave gifts unto men." 00:09:07.31\00:09:10.37 Now my marginal reference on this verse, 00:09:10.38\00:09:12.82 John says, He led a multitude of captives. 00:09:12.83\00:09:16.42 So what happened to those 00:09:16.43\00:09:18.13 who were resurrected after His resurrection? 00:09:18.14\00:09:20.39 Well, they went in and testified of Him 00:09:20.40\00:09:22.28 in the city of Jerusalem 00:09:22.29\00:09:23.30 and then as Jesus goes up to the Father, 00:09:23.31\00:09:26.03 He leads this multitude of captives 00:09:26.04\00:09:28.27 those who had been once captive by Satan--uh, 00:09:28.28\00:09:30.63 by the devil, by Satan, by death. 00:09:30.64\00:09:32.89 He leads them with Him and to Heaven 00:09:32.90\00:09:35.88 and then sends His Holy Spirit, 00:09:35.89\00:09:37.05 sends the gifts down unto men. 00:09:37.06\00:09:39.12 So it's very clear in the context 00:09:39.13\00:09:41.68 of the New Testament and Revelation Chapter 4 00:09:41.69\00:09:44.89 seems to indicate this also John, 00:09:44.90\00:09:46.96 that those who are resurrected after Christ's resurrection, 00:09:46.97\00:09:50.95 they're at the cross, in the context of the cross, 00:09:50.96\00:09:53.83 were taken to heaven. 00:09:53.84\00:09:55.31 They are identified in Heaven in the context 00:09:55.32\00:09:58.19 of Ephesians Chapter 4 and verse 8. 00:09:58.20\00:10:01.00 Revelation seems to indicate this also by describing them 00:10:01.01\00:10:05.82 as those who have been made kings and priests under God. 00:10:05.83\00:10:10.28 That's right. And had been redeemed 00:10:10.29\00:10:12.33 by the blood of the lamb. Right. 00:10:12.34\00:10:15.77 So Revelation Chapter 4 indicates 00:10:15.78\00:10:17.53 that these are people who've been redeemed. 00:10:17.54\00:10:19.10 These are elders who've been redeemed 00:10:19.11\00:10:20.48 that made kings and priests unto God. 00:10:20.49\00:10:21.82 And, of course, we're all, Revelation 1 tells us 00:10:21.83\00:10:24.20 we're all made kings and priests unto God. 00:10:24.21\00:10:25.67 So this is indicating that these are first fruit. 00:10:25.68\00:10:28.66 These are those who went with Christ as a, 00:10:28.67\00:10:34.44 I want to say an earnest if you will. 00:10:34.45\00:10:36.31 An earnest of what God is going to do 00:10:36.32\00:10:38.35 for the entire redeemed, all of those 00:10:38.36\00:10:40.71 who put their faith in Jesus Christ. That's right. 00:10:40.72\00:10:43.24 So today are they those who have been raised in Heaven? 00:10:43.25\00:10:47.64 Yes, but the general resurrection 00:10:47.65\00:10:50.29 hasn't taken place. 00:10:50.30\00:10:52.51 Those who came forth from their graves 00:10:52.52\00:10:53.98 to witness of the glory of the resurrection of Christ 00:10:53.99\00:10:57.04 were taken to Heaven as first fruits. 00:10:57.05\00:11:00.99 And the beauty of first fruits, 00:11:01.00\00:11:02.37 they are not called last fruits. 00:11:02.38\00:11:04.93 Because there are more to follow, 00:11:04.94\00:11:06.27 that's the saints. 00:11:06.28\00:11:07.27 And so the other question though with this, 00:11:07.28\00:11:08.65 John, I don't want to forget this, I almost did is, 00:11:08.66\00:11:11.17 so how does this relate to the Judgment? 00:11:11.18\00:11:13.84 Are there men in Heaven? You said. 00:11:13.85\00:11:15.48 Well, yeah, there are men in Heaven. 00:11:15.49\00:11:16.63 We know there is this multitude of captives. 00:11:16.64\00:11:18.70 Are there other specific people that are in Heaven? 00:11:18.71\00:11:21.46 I mentioned, I didn't know, 00:11:21.47\00:11:23.56 and I just want to clarify this, I mentioned, 00:11:23.57\00:11:25.10 well, we don't know who these were, 00:11:25.11\00:11:26.28 could be, I said Elisha. 00:11:26.29\00:11:28.04 Well, we know it's not Elisha. 00:11:28.05\00:11:29.34 We know Elisha wasn't resurrected 00:11:29.35\00:11:31.06 here with this multitude. 00:11:31.07\00:11:32.46 Maybe, it could have been Jeremiah. 00:11:32.47\00:11:33.61 Maybe, it could have been Isaiah, 00:11:33.62\00:11:34.91 but it couldn't have been Elisha. 00:11:34.92\00:11:36.12 Why couldn't it have been Elisha? 00:11:36.13\00:11:37.29 Because he was swept away in the charity. 00:11:37.30\00:11:38.68 Elisha is already in Heaven. Right. 00:11:38.69\00:11:40.53 Moses, Deut 9 tells us is in Heaven. Right. 00:11:40.54\00:11:43.46 He was taken. He was resurrected. 00:11:43.47\00:11:45.39 Enoch. And Enoch is in Heaven. 00:11:45.40\00:11:47.96 So how does that relate to the Judgment? 00:11:47.97\00:11:49.96 Well, I believe the Bible is very clear 00:11:49.97\00:11:51.51 that God sees those things that aren't as though they are. 00:11:51.52\00:11:55.36 And God through Jesus Christ has foreordained 00:11:55.37\00:11:58.73 and understands omnisciently understands 00:11:58.74\00:12:01.91 that these men have been faithful to Him 00:12:01.92\00:12:04.93 and He accounts them as faithful. 00:12:04.94\00:12:06.33 He accounts those things are, that are deserve they are, 00:12:06.34\00:12:09.20 I think that's in Romans Chapter 4. 00:12:09.21\00:12:11.73 And so what we realize here in this context 00:12:11.74\00:12:14.65 is that the Judgment that begins later, 00:12:14.66\00:12:17.46 does not exclude Gods, a mission power 00:12:17.47\00:12:20.67 and his ability to take men into Heaven, 00:12:20.68\00:12:23.00 to take people into Heaven 00:12:23.01\00:12:24.55 before that final decision is made. 00:12:24.56\00:12:27.02 And so when you look at "The judgment is set, 00:12:27.03\00:12:30.12 and the books are opened" 00:12:30.13\00:12:33.02 as you find in Daniel Chapter 7, 00:12:33.03\00:12:38.74 okay, yeah. 00:12:38.75\00:12:42.58 Once again this beautiful setting 00:12:42.59\00:12:44.47 that is given in Daniel 7. Okay. 00:12:44.48\00:12:47.16 It says in Daniel 7 in verse 13, well, verse 9, 00:12:47.17\00:12:53.77 "And I watched until thrones were put in place, 00:12:53.78\00:12:57.46 and the Ancient of Days were seated. 00:12:57.47\00:13:00.18 His garment was white as snow, 00:13:00.19\00:13:01.82 and his head and the hair of His head was like pure wool. 00:13:01.83\00:13:06.25 His throne was a fiery flame. 00:13:06.26\00:13:09.27 Its wheels were burning fire. 00:13:09.28\00:13:11.55 A fiery stream issued and came forth from before him. 00:13:11.56\00:13:16.44 At thousand thousands ministered unto him, 00:13:16.45\00:13:19.29 ten thousand times, 00:13:19.30\00:13:21.17 ten thousand stood before him. 00:13:21.18\00:13:23.36 the court was seated, and the books were opened." 00:13:23.37\00:13:28.18 In that court seating-- in that court seating, 00:13:28.19\00:13:30.77 as John continues to picture in Revelation 4 and 5, 00:13:30.78\00:13:34.80 we have those who were gonna reside as our peers. 00:13:34.81\00:13:39.57 And now the reason why it's important for them to be there, 00:13:39.58\00:13:42.57 they're not-- the judgment-- 00:13:42.58\00:13:44.79 the judgment is not for God to try to figure out 00:13:44.80\00:13:47.76 who is saved and who is lost. 00:13:47.77\00:13:49.06 He is not thinking, 00:13:49.07\00:13:50.06 "I wonder have I made the right decision?" 00:13:50.07\00:13:53.35 His character is being vindicated. 00:13:53.36\00:13:56.41 It's being vindicated by those 00:13:56.42\00:13:57.65 who witnessed the sovereign acts of God. 00:13:57.66\00:14:00.38 And so when God is vindicated, 00:14:00.39\00:14:02.05 when the Bible says, and this is something else 00:14:02.06\00:14:03.54 we're gonna talk about in just a moment. 00:14:03.55\00:14:04.90 When the Bible says "Fear God, and give glory to Him, 00:14:04.91\00:14:06.93 for the hour of His judgment has come." 00:14:06.94\00:14:09.10 You know if it were just-- 00:14:09.11\00:14:10.14 if it were just us being examined, 00:14:10.15\00:14:11.85 well, it'll be clearly concluded that, 00:14:11.86\00:14:13.76 "Hey, we're not righteous 00:14:13.77\00:14:14.78 enough of our own accord to be saved." 00:14:14.79\00:14:17.20 But the vindication comes by, God being vindicated. 00:14:17.21\00:14:20.49 His decisions being vindicated 00:14:20.50\00:14:22.34 by those who preside in the Judgment 00:14:22.35\00:14:24.40 and these who were resurrected are part of those 00:14:24.41\00:14:27.64 who'll be the jury of our own peers, to say, 00:14:27.65\00:14:32.17 "Hey, everything that He has decided 00:14:32.18\00:14:34.05 is just and true and holy." 00:14:34.06\00:14:35.41 Okay. So that's why it's so vitally important. 00:14:35.42\00:14:38.62 He took them to Heaven not just because 00:14:38.63\00:14:41.88 He wanted some first fruits and they are waiting. 00:14:41.89\00:14:43.86 I wonder when everybody else is getting up here. 00:14:43.87\00:14:46.18 But they are preparing for the final Judgments. 00:14:46.19\00:14:48.44 They are preparing for that final court seating 00:14:48.45\00:14:51.65 that Paul speaks about, I think, is in, 00:14:51.66\00:14:54.56 is it 2 Corinthians 5, verse 8 or verse 10? 00:14:54.57\00:14:57.03 Where he speaks about, "For we must all appear 00:14:57.04\00:14:58.87 before the judgment seat of Christ." 00:14:58.88\00:15:00.55 That's in Romans 14. That one is. 00:15:00.56\00:15:02.61 But Paul also talks about it in 2 Corinthians 5. 00:15:02.62\00:15:05.22 But Romans 14, "We must all appear 00:15:05.23\00:15:07.23 before the Judgment seat of Christ." Right. 00:15:07.24\00:15:08.24 Verses 10 through 12. 00:15:08.25\00:15:09.47 So when he speaks about that, we all appearing there, 00:15:09.48\00:15:12.13 we appear before there amongst our own peers, 00:15:12.14\00:15:15.50 amongst those who knows 00:15:15.51\00:15:17.15 what it means to struggle with sin, 00:15:17.16\00:15:18.98 those who knows what it means to face difficulty. 00:15:18.99\00:15:21.61 Those who know what it means to face sin 00:15:21.62\00:15:24.52 and overcome by the blood of the lamb. 00:15:24.53\00:15:27.06 So we're not gonna be facing the court setting 00:15:27.07\00:15:30.47 in the presence of angels alone 00:15:30.48\00:15:33.46 but in the presence of our own peers 00:15:33.47\00:15:35.77 who will measure the Judgments of God 00:15:35.78\00:15:37.49 and declare His sovereignty and His worthiness. 00:15:37.50\00:15:39.94 Okay, one other thing then connected with this question, 00:15:39.95\00:15:41.95 same person, also to what spirits 00:15:41.96\00:15:44.88 did Jesus preach in the lower parts of the earth? 00:15:44.89\00:15:48.81 Who were they? What was or will be their fate? 00:15:48.82\00:15:53.27 And he's talking here about 1 Peter Chapter 3 and verse 19. 00:15:53.28\00:15:58.07 1 Peter 3:19. I think, John, 00:15:58.08\00:16:01.45 that these are some of the most 00:16:01.46\00:16:02.85 misunderstood verses in the Bible. 00:16:02.86\00:16:05.91 Now I remember when I was doing 00:16:05.92\00:16:06.93 a series of meetings in Pakistan, 00:16:06.94\00:16:09.60 we were speaking to a number 00:16:09.61\00:16:10.86 of ministers from different denominations. 00:16:10.87\00:16:12.88 I was doing a whole series 00:16:12.89\00:16:13.92 on the Book of Revelation, Daniel Revelation. 00:16:13.93\00:16:16.26 And we had, we were there, 00:16:16.27\00:16:17.52 I was there several times 00:16:17.53\00:16:18.57 and this was the culmination of a series of meetings 00:16:18.58\00:16:21.23 and there was a pastor that was there, 00:16:21.24\00:16:22.95 I believe he was a Methodist 00:16:22.96\00:16:24.61 and he was very eager to embrace the Adventist message. 00:16:24.62\00:16:29.14 He had heard. He had listened. 00:16:29.15\00:16:30.44 We have gone through the whole series 00:16:30.45\00:16:32.01 and he wanted to become an Adventist minister 00:16:32.02\00:16:33.69 but he had one question, one question alone. 00:16:33.70\00:16:36.55 And so he brought his Bible 00:16:36.56\00:16:38.44 and his Bible was written in Urdu, 00:16:38.45\00:16:40.99 which was the language of Pakistan. Yes. 00:16:41.00\00:16:43.03 Urdu. So he brought his Bible 00:16:43.04\00:16:44.90 and he read the 1 Peter Chapter 3. 00:16:44.91\00:16:47.68 Now I'm gonna read these verses but I just want to tell you 00:16:47.69\00:16:49.59 what his Bible said as we read these verses. 00:16:49.60\00:16:52.33 Yeah, we are going to start here 00:16:52.34\00:16:53.46 in verse 18 to get the context, 00:16:53.47\00:16:57.84 "For Christ also has once suffered for sins, 00:16:57.85\00:17:00.33 the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God, 00:17:00.34\00:17:04.27 being put to death in the flesh, 00:17:04.28\00:17:06.22 but quickened by the Spirit." 00:17:06.23\00:17:08.70 Capitalized since he is talking about the Holy Spirit. 00:17:08.71\00:17:11.65 "By which," again context, 00:17:11.66\00:17:14.13 "the Holy Spirit by which he went 00:17:14.14\00:17:16.58 and preached unto the spirits in prison." 00:17:16.59\00:17:19.97 Verse 19, now verse 20, 00:17:19.98\00:17:22.08 "Which sometime were disobedient, 00:17:22.09\00:17:23.70 when once the longsuffering of God 00:17:23.71\00:17:25.54 waited in the days of Noah, 00:17:25.55\00:17:27.77 while the ark was a preparing, 00:17:27.78\00:17:30.13 wherein few, that is, 00:17:30.14\00:17:31.47 eight souls were saved by water." 00:17:31.48\00:17:33.46 Now, this verse is talking about the Holy Spirit 00:17:33.47\00:17:38.53 that quickened Christ and also through 00:17:38.54\00:17:41.04 whom Christ God preached to spirits, 00:17:41.05\00:17:45.53 that is to people who were imprisoned, 00:17:45.54\00:17:48.30 this earth is a prison house 00:17:48.31\00:17:49.97 and God has continually preached 00:17:49.98\00:17:52.14 and shared the Gospel through His Holy Spirit, 00:17:52.15\00:17:54.59 of the lamb, of Jesus Christ, 00:17:54.60\00:17:56.65 to prisoners of this prison house. 00:17:56.66\00:17:58.32 For example, he did it, verse 20, 00:17:58.33\00:18:00.16 "In the times of Noah, 00:18:00.17\00:18:02.01 when many were disobedient 00:18:02.02\00:18:03.80 and Noah waited for a long time while the ark was preparing." 00:18:03.81\00:18:07.09 It was longsuffering. 00:18:07.10\00:18:08.47 So Noah is preaching through the Spirit of Christ 00:18:08.48\00:18:10.96 and all through the Old Testament, 00:18:10.97\00:18:12.70 the Spirit of Christ has been preaching 00:18:12.71\00:18:14.07 the message that same Spirit 00:18:14.08\00:18:15.62 that resurrected Jesus from the death. 00:18:15.63\00:18:17.32 But here's the catch, in his Bible, 00:18:17.33\00:18:19.81 in this pastor's Bible, the verse here actually said, 00:18:19.82\00:18:23.64 verse 19 said, "By which he went 00:18:23.65\00:18:25.69 and preached in purgatory." 00:18:25.70\00:18:27.98 The word purgatory was in that-- 00:18:27.99\00:18:28.99 All right. Who's Bible was that? 00:18:29.00\00:18:29.99 The Urdu translation said 00:18:30.00\00:18:31.59 that is purgatory, that says purgatory. 00:18:31.60\00:18:33.60 Now purgatory, if you don't know 00:18:33.61\00:18:35.08 is supposed to be this place. 00:18:35.09\00:18:36.56 It's not biblically involved 00:18:36.57\00:18:37.62 but it's supposed to be this place of transition. 00:18:37.63\00:18:40.06 You're not in heaven. You're not hell. 00:18:40.07\00:18:41.40 'Cause you're not good enough to go to heaven. 00:18:41.41\00:18:42.42 You're not bad enough to go to hell. You're purgatory. 00:18:42.43\00:18:43.98 I know this because I was raised in a catholic home 00:18:43.99\00:18:46.18 and I understood this teaching. 00:18:46.19\00:18:48.51 And whenever I went to confession, 00:18:48.52\00:18:49.74 I was praying, and lighting candles hoping 00:18:49.75\00:18:52.15 that I would be in purgatory. 00:18:52.16\00:18:53.88 And I wanted to go right to heaven. 00:18:53.89\00:18:55.04 I didn't want to go to purgatory. 00:18:55.05\00:18:56.06 And so he-- this pastor was telling me, 00:18:56.07\00:18:57.87 this is teaching that this is purgatory. 00:18:57.88\00:18:59.38 I said no, no, no, this is not 00:18:59.39\00:19:00.72 what the verse is actually teaching. That's right. 00:19:00.73\00:19:02.61 When Jesus died, He experienced 00:19:02.62\00:19:04.10 the same thing that we experience. 00:19:04.11\00:19:05.98 He had not ascended to heaven, even after the resurrection. 00:19:05.99\00:19:08.78 He told that to Mary Magdalene. 00:19:08.79\00:19:10.05 He said, "I have not ascended to the Father." 00:19:10.06\00:19:12.14 And so Jesus Christ was in the grave 00:19:12.15\00:19:14.29 where there's no knowledge. 00:19:14.30\00:19:16.04 There's no understanding, etcetera. 00:19:16.05\00:19:17.42 Jesus Christ was there experiencing 00:19:17.43\00:19:19.66 that at death and so-- but it was by His Spirit. 00:19:19.67\00:19:23.34 It was by the Spirit of Christ that He was resurrected. 00:19:23.35\00:19:26.05 And that same Spirit in times past had preached to them, 00:19:26.06\00:19:29.67 to prisoners in this prison house of sin and death 00:19:29.68\00:19:33.18 who were sometimes disobedient. Right. 00:19:33.19\00:19:35.39 And the power, and that's the beautiful thing here, 00:19:35.40\00:19:37.26 but the Spirit is the focus of this verse. 00:19:37.27\00:19:40.46 The Spirit is the focus of this verse. 00:19:40.47\00:19:42.61 The Spirit was the one who, 00:19:42.62\00:19:44.15 in former times, preached this message. 00:19:44.16\00:19:47.22 You may remember the passage, 00:19:47.23\00:19:49.42 just before the flood, Genesis 6:3, 00:19:49.43\00:19:51.66 "When the Lord said, 00:19:51.67\00:19:52.88 My spirit shall not always strive with man." 00:19:52.89\00:19:57.27 Very important passage. 00:19:57.28\00:19:58.64 That's the-- that is what connects 00:19:58.65\00:20:00.68 this verse to the work of the Spirit. 00:20:00.69\00:20:03.28 The same Spirit that resurrected Christ, 00:20:03.29\00:20:05.45 the power there, is the same Spirit through which 00:20:05.46\00:20:08.20 those who were formerly disobedient, 00:20:08.21\00:20:11.52 those who had lost their estate 00:20:11.53\00:20:12.99 and if you look at the verse again here. 00:20:13.00\00:20:14.79 It says, it begins by which in the King James Version, 00:20:14.80\00:20:18.26 by whom in the New King James version. 00:20:18.27\00:20:20.45 This says, "Being put to death in the flesh 00:20:20.46\00:20:23.36 but made alive by the Spirit." 00:20:23.37\00:20:25.60 By whom, by which the Spirit is the one that went 00:20:25.61\00:20:29.26 and preached to the spirits those who were in prison. 00:20:29.27\00:20:34.21 And this speaks of those who were spiritually dead, 00:20:34.22\00:20:37.03 not ethereal floating entities 00:20:37.04\00:20:40.45 that were just locked into a chamber, 00:20:40.46\00:20:42.02 purgatory for that matter. 00:20:42.03\00:20:43.96 Two verses on this, John, 00:20:43.97\00:20:45.24 the one you brought out, vital. 00:20:45.25\00:20:47.24 Genesis 6 verse 3? Right. 00:20:47.25\00:20:48.83 Vital words. You have that? 00:20:48.84\00:20:50.11 Yes, I just read that. Okay. 00:20:50.12\00:20:51.29 "And the lord says, My Spirit shall not always 00:20:51.30\00:20:53.14 strive with men, for he is indeed flesh, 00:20:53.15\00:20:55.67 yet his days shall be one hundred and twenty years." 00:20:55.68\00:20:58.40 So that verse clearly indicates the connection with, 00:20:58.41\00:21:01.41 well, like you said with 1 Peter 4 or 1 Peter 3. 00:21:01.42\00:21:04.28 The other one that I think is very important for us 00:21:04.29\00:21:06.42 to understand is found in Revelation 18. 00:21:06.43\00:21:09.03 Okay, let's look at that. 00:21:09.04\00:21:10.03 In Revelation 18, you'll say, well, why is that important? 00:21:10.04\00:21:12.13 Because you just identified 00:21:12.14\00:21:13.85 and I just identified this earth as a prison house. 00:21:13.86\00:21:17.31 Now there's another one in the New Testament, 00:21:17.32\00:21:18.87 in the Gospel, but I'm not sure where it is. 00:21:18.88\00:21:20.76 I think it's in Luke where Jesus says, 00:21:20.77\00:21:22.40 "I have come to release the prisoners from prison." 00:21:22.41\00:21:26.07 But this one says, Revelation 18, 00:21:26.08\00:21:28.98 "That an angel, verse 1, is going to come down 00:21:28.99\00:21:31.48 and fill the earth with the glory of God. 00:21:31.49\00:21:34.00 And this angel cries mightily with a loud voice 00:21:34.01\00:21:36.44 saying Babylon is fallen, is fallen, 00:21:36.45\00:21:38.69 that great city and it has become, 00:21:38.70\00:21:42.69 Babylon the great is fallen, is fallen 00:21:42.70\00:21:44.13 and has become the habitation of devils, 00:21:44.14\00:21:45.68 the hold of every Spirit, a cage or a prison." 00:21:45.69\00:21:49.23 The New American Standard says, 00:21:49.24\00:21:50.39 "The prison of every clean-- unclean and hateful bird." 00:21:50.40\00:21:54.66 In others words, the Bible is identifying 00:21:54.67\00:21:56.07 this world as a prison house. 00:21:56.08\00:21:57.88 Babylon is a representative of this world, a great city. 00:21:57.89\00:22:01.10 This world filled with its merchandise and its sin, 00:22:01.11\00:22:03.63 and in the context of Revelation 18, 00:22:03.64\00:22:05.41 this world filled with people 00:22:05.42\00:22:07.13 who have been taking captive by Satan 00:22:07.14\00:22:09.85 and many of us are captive to sin, 00:22:09.86\00:22:12.65 captive to habits of sin and vice 00:22:12.66\00:22:14.38 and so God wants to release us from this prison house. 00:22:14.39\00:22:17.87 And He's been preaching to His Spirit in this prison house. 00:22:17.88\00:22:20.70 And finally this prison house 00:22:20.71\00:22:22.08 is going to fall completely decimated. 00:22:22.09\00:22:24.50 And God is wanting to bring the captives 00:22:24.51\00:22:26.80 out of this prison house. 00:22:26.81\00:22:28.04 Right. His mission is to release 00:22:28.05\00:22:31.10 all those who have been held, 00:22:31.11\00:22:33.08 who've been bound by sin 00:22:33.09\00:22:35.09 and thus you see when the apostles 00:22:35.10\00:22:38.40 were released from prison, 00:22:38.41\00:22:39.64 He was continually reiterating the mission of Christ. Amen. 00:22:39.65\00:22:42.94 So yes, but now let me just wind this up. 00:22:42.95\00:22:46.92 Was there a sermon that Jesus preached when he died? No. 00:22:46.93\00:22:50.60 Were there those waiting for Jesus to die 00:22:50.61\00:22:52.50 to get the final Gospel message in this prison 00:22:52.51\00:22:55.49 under the ground somewhere? No. 00:22:55.50\00:22:57.71 That's what's being taught, 00:22:57.72\00:22:59.11 but that is not supported by the scripture. 00:22:59.12\00:23:01.43 He's simply saying those in Noah's day 00:23:01.44\00:23:04.09 and you have to keep in mind, 00:23:04.10\00:23:05.25 God does not condemn those who are not judged. 00:23:05.26\00:23:09.45 It is appointed in a man once to die 00:23:09.46\00:23:11.31 and after that the Judgment. 00:23:11.32\00:23:13.10 Now they did die. 00:23:13.11\00:23:14.41 The flood came and took them all away. 00:23:14.42\00:23:16.46 Now you don't get a second chance. 00:23:16.47\00:23:17.99 And this is second chance theology. 00:23:18.00\00:23:20.06 That's the problem with this verse. 00:23:20.07\00:23:22.00 That's the problem with the way the verse is used. 00:23:22.01\00:23:23.82 People are teaching second chance theology. 00:23:23.83\00:23:26.16 So this is kind of like a rapture for the dead, 00:23:26.17\00:23:30.04 so to speak, a secret rapture. 00:23:30.05\00:23:31.49 In other words, if I don't make it the first time, 00:23:31.50\00:23:33.56 so I've been waiting for a long time here for this sermon 00:23:33.57\00:23:36.20 that I never heard and all of a sudden, 00:23:36.21\00:23:37.90 Jesus comes and said, "Hey, guys, I'm here. I just died. 00:23:37.91\00:23:40.49 I came down to preach a sermon to you." 00:23:40.50\00:23:41.85 I'm trying not to be cynical, 00:23:41.86\00:23:43.17 but this is what actually if you think about it, 00:23:43.18\00:23:45.35 "I'm down here to preach you a sermon. 00:23:45.36\00:23:46.83 Now what you didn't hear before the flood, 00:23:46.84\00:23:48.90 here's the part you didn't get." 00:23:48.91\00:23:50.10 Okay, got it now. This isn't ethereal. 00:23:50.11\00:23:55.28 This is spiritualistic in a great sense. 00:23:55.29\00:23:58.36 That they're those waiting to hear this Gospel 00:23:58.37\00:24:00.37 that cannot hear the Gospel until the death of Jesus. 00:24:00.38\00:24:03.12 And here's-- this is--this verse 00:24:03.13\00:24:04.57 Luke Chapter 3 brings this altogether. 00:24:04.58\00:24:06.61 Luke Chapter 4, I really like this. I found those verses. 00:24:06.62\00:24:09.48 Notice this verse 18 Luke Chapter 4. Okay. 00:24:09.49\00:24:11.99 "The Spirit of the Lord is upon me." See by the Spirit. 00:24:12.00\00:24:16.46 I was thinking Luke 4:16 but-- That's it, that's it. 00:24:16.47\00:24:19.44 Yes, "The Spirit of the Lord is upon me 00:24:19.45\00:24:21.86 because he has anointed me 00:24:21.87\00:24:23.84 to preach the Gospel to the poor. 00:24:23.85\00:24:25.82 He has sent me to heal the broken hearted, 00:24:25.83\00:24:27.56 to preach deliverance to the captives 00:24:27.57\00:24:31.43 and recovering of sight to the blind, 00:24:31.44\00:24:32.82 to set at liberty those that are bruised, 00:24:32.83\00:24:34.79 to preach the acceptable year of the Lord." 00:24:34.80\00:24:37.19 So the prisoners, the captives, 00:24:37.20\00:24:39.04 here's another connecting verse. 00:24:39.05\00:24:40.93 Luke Chapter 4 verse 18, very clear that Jesus Christ 00:24:40.94\00:24:44.63 is releasing the prisoners through the Spirit. 00:24:44.64\00:24:46.70 And that same spirit has continued to work 00:24:46.71\00:24:48.81 through the Old Testament, 00:24:48.82\00:24:49.82 all the way back to the days of Noah. 00:24:49.83\00:24:51.43 The same Spirit was striving with man 00:24:51.44\00:24:53.42 to release him from that at this captivity. 00:24:53.43\00:24:55.38 Right and so when they rejected the Spirit of God 00:24:55.39\00:24:57.29 and now that probation was cut off, then the Judgment came. 00:24:57.30\00:25:00.79 No more second chance theology. 00:25:00.80\00:25:02.61 Very short one here, why is it that your church does not use, 00:25:02.62\00:25:05.97 the prayer language of tongues? 00:25:05.98\00:25:07.51 Jenny from New York. Okay, let's go to Romans 6. 00:25:07.52\00:25:12.41 We're gonna try-- You said this was a short one. 00:25:12.42\00:25:14.04 Is that what you said? Did I--did I? 00:25:14.05\00:25:17.72 Yeah. I prefaced it by saying that. 00:25:17.73\00:25:19.94 We're gonna try to make it short. A short question. 00:25:19.95\00:25:21.96 Short question but not a short answer. No. 00:25:21.97\00:25:24.30 Let's begin to work with this one a little bit. 00:25:24.31\00:25:26.39 First of all, when you look at the Old Testament 00:25:26.40\00:25:28.82 and this is something I like to lay the foundation for, 00:25:28.83\00:25:31.83 I had a conversation with a person over the phone once, 00:25:31.84\00:25:34.50 and he said now what about the prayer language of tongues? 00:25:34.51\00:25:36.72 I mean, don't we need a prayer language 00:25:36.73\00:25:38.37 and I said, well, now what's the purpose of that? 00:25:38.38\00:25:40.04 They said first to be able to talk to God and secondly, 00:25:40.05\00:25:42.95 so that Satan can't understand what you're saying. 00:25:42.96\00:25:46.27 And I thought, and they said that's what happened 00:25:46.28\00:25:50.16 when the Spirit of God is poured out on you. 00:25:50.17\00:25:52.72 I said, okay now, let's start 00:25:52.73\00:25:54.33 with some of the obvious participants in scripture 00:25:54.34\00:25:58.22 that we know were imbued and endowed by the Spirit of God. 00:25:58.23\00:26:02.02 Let's start with Elijah. 00:26:02.03\00:26:03.74 Did Elijah speak in tongues? Oh, no. 00:26:03.75\00:26:07.42 Well, now let's go to somebody 00:26:07.43\00:26:08.99 who followed him, his predecessor-- 00:26:09.00\00:26:11.71 Double portion. The double portion. 00:26:11.72\00:26:13.74 Did Elisha speak with tongues when he prayed? 00:26:13.75\00:26:16.55 Oh, no. Well, what about Isaiah and Jeremiah. 00:26:16.56\00:26:19.63 And I went through all the name, no. 00:26:19.64\00:26:22.47 When did the tongues get first mentioned? 00:26:22.48\00:26:25.12 Now did the disciples receive the Holy Spirit? 00:26:25.13\00:26:27.38 Yes, the Lord briefed on them 00:26:27.39\00:26:29.52 before the Day of Pentecostal says 00:26:29.53\00:26:31.76 receive ye the Holy Spirit. 00:26:31.77\00:26:33.18 They received him before the Day of Pentecost. 00:26:33.19\00:26:35.45 Did they speak with tongues yet? No. 00:26:35.46\00:26:38.55 So what's the first recorded use of tongues? 00:26:38.56\00:26:41.07 The Day of Pentecost. And what happened then? 00:26:41.08\00:26:43.53 So let me throw it you. And I'll come back on it. 00:26:43.54\00:26:45.17 Well, I just think that's very interesting, John. 00:26:45.18\00:26:46.75 I've never--I never recognized that connection before. 00:26:46.76\00:26:49.52 That is really, really significant. 00:26:49.53\00:26:51.46 I'll tell you why because as you're leading 00:26:51.47\00:26:53.92 to Acts Chapter 2, there was a reason. 00:26:53.93\00:26:56.84 There was a purpose for the gift of tongues 00:26:56.85\00:26:58.70 in Acts Chapter 2. Right. 00:26:58.71\00:27:00.05 There was a situation and a circumstance 00:27:00.06\00:27:02.13 that warranted this gift, this special gift, 00:27:02.14\00:27:05.01 the special anointing of the Holy Spirit. 00:27:05.02\00:27:06.78 And that's what the Holy Spirit does. 00:27:06.79\00:27:08.16 Whatever situation is, we may feel like, 00:27:08.17\00:27:10.72 oh, I can't, you know, 00:27:10.73\00:27:11.73 witness for Jesus and I can't say a word for Jesus. 00:27:11.74\00:27:14.17 But that has nothing to do with it. 00:27:14.18\00:27:15.96 We make ourselves available. 00:27:15.97\00:27:17.31 We become open vessels. We connect with God. 00:27:17.32\00:27:19.40 We get--allow the Holy Spirit to get into our hearts 00:27:19.41\00:27:21.54 and then He gives the gifts. That's right. 00:27:21.55\00:27:23.23 And so the disciples have this gift 00:27:23.24\00:27:25.29 that is given to them, why? 00:27:25.30\00:27:26.71 Because in Jerusalem at the time of the Pentecost, 00:27:26.72\00:27:29.60 at the time of the Passover, 00:27:29.61\00:27:31.13 there were a multitude of Jews from every different nation 00:27:31.14\00:27:35.13 under Heaven all over the place. 00:27:35.14\00:27:37.00 And many of these Jews spoke different languages. 00:27:37.01\00:27:39.30 Many of these Jews had forgotten 00:27:39.31\00:27:40.63 their language of their fathers. 00:27:40.64\00:27:42.08 Did not know, were not instructed 00:27:42.09\00:27:43.71 the language of their fathers. 00:27:43.72\00:27:45.01 And so the disciples when they're communicating 00:27:45.02\00:27:47.47 with all of these thousands. 00:27:47.48\00:27:50.29 And we know that, you know there were thousands baptized 00:27:50.30\00:27:53.16 as a result of Peter's communication. 00:27:53.17\00:27:55.42 When the disciples communicate, they're unreaded men. 00:27:55.43\00:27:57.59 They're unlearned men. 00:27:57.60\00:27:58.90 They don't know how to communicate 00:27:58.91\00:28:00.48 in these different languages. 00:28:00.49\00:28:01.48 And there aren't, you know, a dozen translators 00:28:01.49\00:28:03.17 ready to pop up and do all the translating. 00:28:03.18\00:28:05.49 So God gives them the gift of tongues 00:28:05.50\00:28:08.33 which in the Greek is "The Gift of languages." That's right. 00:28:08.34\00:28:12.48 And one of the things that sometimes 00:28:12.49\00:28:15.22 we have, I wanna just do 00:28:15.23\00:28:18.34 a contrast here between the two translations. 00:28:18.35\00:28:21.13 You have, you have the phrase, 00:28:21.14\00:28:26.69 the word used in the King James Version in Acts 2, 00:28:26.70\00:28:29.83 "Unknown tongue." Yes. 00:28:29.84\00:28:32.01 And when you look at this, 00:28:32.02\00:28:34.03 let's go to Acts Chapter 2 very quickly here. 00:28:34.04\00:28:36.46 Want you to see something here. 00:28:36.47\00:28:39.00 'Cause when you read the Bible, 00:28:39.01\00:28:41.50 and Acts Chapter 2, when the Day of Pentecost verse 1, 00:28:41.51\00:28:49.15 "When the Day of Pentecost had fully come, 00:28:49.16\00:28:50.68 they were all in one accord in one place. 00:28:50.69\00:28:52.60 Suddenly there came a sound from heaven 00:28:52.61\00:28:54.14 as of a rushing mighty wind. 00:28:54.15\00:28:55.63 It filled the whole house where they were sitting. 00:28:55.64\00:28:57.67 Then there appeared to them divided tongues as of fire, 00:28:57.68\00:29:02.68 and one sat upon each of them. 00:29:02.69\00:29:05.63 And they were filled with the Holy Spirit, 00:29:05.64\00:29:08.22 and began to speak with other tongues, 00:29:08.23\00:29:11.76 as the Spirit gave them utterance." 00:29:11.77\00:29:15.50 Now--and then when you go down to 1 Corinthians 14 00:29:15.51\00:29:18.31 and you begin to see Chapter 12, 13 and 14, 00:29:18.32\00:29:21.92 those three passages, those three Chapters 00:29:21.93\00:29:23.88 deals with the issues of these various gifts. 00:29:23.89\00:29:26.43 Chapter 12 of 1 Corinthians deal with all the gifts 00:29:26.44\00:29:30.07 and it says the Spirit gives the gift of whomever 00:29:30.08\00:29:32.46 he sees has need, who has, 00:29:32.47\00:29:34.36 he will severally as he will the Bible says. 00:29:34.37\00:29:37.25 So what you have to catch here is the Spirit 00:29:37.26\00:29:39.41 is the one who decides what gift you need. 00:29:39.42\00:29:43.14 You don't decide what gift you want. Right. 00:29:43.15\00:29:46.22 That's what the Day of Pentecost 00:29:46.23\00:29:47.29 was so vitally important. 00:29:47.30\00:29:48.53 What they need and I don't know if you caught that, 00:29:48.54\00:29:50.87 James said these men were not men of letters. 00:29:50.88\00:29:53.02 They didn't have education behind their name. 00:29:53.03\00:29:54.82 They didn't come from the University 00:29:54.83\00:29:56.13 of this and University of that. 00:29:56.14\00:29:57.29 They didn't have a degree 00:29:57.30\00:29:58.42 in this language and that language. 00:29:58.43\00:29:59.56 Right. God said, "I've got a job for you to do." 00:29:59.57\00:30:02.36 And as He always does, He says the Spirit of God, 00:30:02.37\00:30:06.95 when the Spirit is poured out on you, Acts 1:8, 00:30:06.96\00:30:10.07 "you shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost 00:30:10.08\00:30:12.71 has come upon you and you shall be witnesses, 00:30:12.72\00:30:15.12 Jerusalem, Judea, Samaria 00:30:15.13\00:30:16.94 and the outer most parts of the earth." 00:30:16.97\00:30:18.62 But these men were all Galileans and somebody said, 00:30:18.63\00:30:21.37 "Wait a minute! These guys are from Galilee. 00:30:21.38\00:30:24.78 How is it that we hear them speak in our language? 00:30:24.79\00:30:26.82 The wonderful works of God. 00:30:26.83\00:30:28.53 So my brother or my sister, there is no prayer language. 00:30:28.54\00:30:34.28 It's just simply pray, the simplicity. 00:30:34.29\00:30:37.23 When Jesus taught His disciples to pray, 00:30:37.24\00:30:39.14 He didn't say pray in tongues. 00:30:39.15\00:30:42.08 He said pray after this manner. 00:30:42.09\00:30:44.36 You know, John, I really think this is important 00:30:44.37\00:30:46.24 because Acts Chapter 2 lays the foundation 00:30:46.25\00:30:49.16 for what we understand the gift of tongues to be. 00:30:49.17\00:30:51.41 Right. And when you read this, verse 5 for example, 00:30:51.42\00:30:55.09 "And there were dwelling in Jerusalem, devout men, 00:30:55.10\00:30:57.23 out of every nation under heaven." "And when" 00:30:57.24\00:31:00.44 verse 6, "And when this was noised abroad, 00:31:00.45\00:31:02.11 the multitude came together, and they were confounded, 00:31:02.12\00:31:04.72 because every man heard them speak in his own language." 00:31:04.73\00:31:10.18 Okay, when the gift of tongues is poured out, 00:31:10.19\00:31:13.55 not only where the disciples speaking in other languages 00:31:13.56\00:31:16.94 but the people who heard them understood 00:31:16.95\00:31:19.56 what they were saying in their language. 00:31:19.57\00:31:22.30 This is the original pure gift of tongues poured out 00:31:22.31\00:31:26.96 upon the disciples at the Day of Pentecost 00:31:26.97\00:31:29.48 that led to thousands being baptized. 00:31:29.49\00:31:31.49 When you get to the Church of Corinth, 00:31:31.50\00:31:33.20 guess what's happened by then? 00:31:33.21\00:31:35.46 The Church of Corinth, 1 Corinthians, 00:31:35.47\00:31:37.41 now you have to contrast the two books, 00:31:37.42\00:31:39.30 1 Corinthians and 2 Corinthians. 00:31:39.31\00:31:40.87 1 Corinthians, in 1 Corinthians, 00:31:40.88\00:31:43.47 that book is a book of rebuke, 00:31:43.48\00:31:45.54 exhortation, correction, chastening, 00:31:45.55\00:31:48.54 the Church of Corinth has become selfish. 00:31:48.55\00:31:51.01 They become greedy. They become carnal. 00:31:51.02\00:31:53.48 They're hoarding the gifts. That's right. 00:31:53.49\00:31:55.16 They've perverted the gifts. 00:31:55.17\00:31:56.45 They're gluttons at the Lord's supper they're, 00:31:56.46\00:31:58.97 following different people and saying, I like Apollos. 00:31:58.98\00:32:01.68 I like Cephas. I like Paul. 00:32:01.69\00:32:03.93 There are numerous problems taking place there 00:32:03.94\00:32:06.23 and Paul is trying to correct these problems. That's right. 00:32:06.24\00:32:08.63 He is not encouraging them in the way 00:32:08.64\00:32:11.86 that they're manifesting the gifts and using the gifts. 00:32:11.87\00:32:13.70 He's trying to correct them. 00:32:13.71\00:32:14.68 He's trying to bring them back to the Apostolic manifestation 00:32:14.69\00:32:18.99 that is here in Acts Chapter 2. 00:32:19.00\00:32:21.89 And later as it's manifested again, 00:32:21.90\00:32:24.48 he's trying to help them to understand 00:32:24.49\00:32:25.68 that the gift was given. 00:32:25.69\00:32:27.19 And this is what he says. It's kind of rebuke. 00:32:27.20\00:32:28.66 He says, you know what? 00:32:28.67\00:32:30.00 The gifts were given for edification, 00:32:30.01\00:32:31.92 that'll edify the body. 00:32:31.93\00:32:33.24 So number one, if you have the gift of tongues 00:32:33.25\00:32:36.26 and there's no one to interpret, just be quiet. 00:32:36.27\00:32:38.13 Number two, if the gift is manifested, 00:32:38.14\00:32:40.62 just one or two, maybe three at the most 00:32:40.63\00:32:43.19 but not a bunch of people all at one time. 00:32:43.20\00:32:45.25 Exactly. 00:32:45.26\00:32:46.24 Okay, so number one, make sure there's an interpreter... 00:32:46.25\00:32:47.72 Number two, make sure it's not everyone. 00:32:47.73\00:32:50.08 And number three, you know, 00:32:50.09\00:32:52.34 if you've got the gift and no one can interpret, 00:32:52.35\00:32:55.23 you're just talking to God. And that's not edifying anyone. 00:32:55.24\00:32:57.91 Right and this is why it's so vitally important. 00:32:57.92\00:33:00.07 What's being told nowadays 00:33:00.08\00:33:01.41 is people are being told in the move-- 00:33:01.42\00:33:02.89 in the Glossolalia movement that this is evidence 00:33:02.90\00:33:05.65 that you're filled by the Holy Spirit. 00:33:05.66\00:33:07.35 That's not evidence. 00:33:07.36\00:33:08.35 The evidence of you being filled by the Holy Spirit 00:33:08.36\00:33:11.21 are the fruits of the Spirit, love, joy, peace, 00:33:11.22\00:33:14.15 long suffering, gentleness, meekness, patience. 00:33:14.16\00:33:16.50 He says by their fruits, you'll know them 00:33:16.51\00:33:18.43 not by their gifts you'll know them. 00:33:18.44\00:33:20.48 That's vitally--you have to keep that connected together. 00:33:20.49\00:33:22.57 Yes. By their fruits they're being known. 00:33:22.58\00:33:24.33 Not by their gifts they're being known. 00:33:24.34\00:33:25.97 Because people can wrongfully display gifts and abilities 00:33:25.98\00:33:31.93 but they don't have the fruit. 00:33:31.94\00:33:33.42 The fruit of the Spirit is what the Lord comes to bring out. 00:33:33.43\00:33:36.26 Trees, you know, the fruit on the tree becomes the gift 00:33:36.27\00:33:38.52 eventually but the fruit is what is connected you-- 00:33:38.53\00:33:42.31 connecting you to the tree. 00:33:42.32\00:33:43.44 I'm the vine, you're the branch. 00:33:43.45\00:33:44.59 Well, how do I know that? 00:33:44.60\00:33:45.75 God is love, then You are a loving person. 00:33:45.76\00:33:48.87 God is patient and kind. 00:33:48.88\00:33:49.90 You're a patient and kind person. 00:33:49.91\00:33:51.36 That's how I know that the Spirit of God 00:33:51.37\00:33:53.05 is working in your life. 00:33:53.06\00:33:54.21 But something else that is really amazing 00:33:54.22\00:33:56.08 and these are little small differences, 00:33:56.09\00:33:59.26 minor differences between the translations. 00:33:59.27\00:34:01.42 When you read the King James Version, 00:34:01.43\00:34:02.79 you find the word "unknown" inserted 00:34:02.80\00:34:05.50 and you find the word "unknown" 00:34:05.51\00:34:06.71 in 1 Corinthians 14 inserted quite often 00:34:06.72\00:34:09.14 but you'll notice that it is italicized 00:34:09.15\00:34:11.66 which means it's not a part of the original language. 00:34:11.67\00:34:14.27 It's not a part of the original manuscript. 00:34:14.28\00:34:16.15 But when you look at the New King James Version, 00:34:16.16\00:34:18.22 one of the reasons I use both is the word 00:34:18.23\00:34:20.63 "unknown" is omitted. It's taken out. 00:34:20.64\00:34:23.17 Because it was not a part of the original language. 00:34:23.18\00:34:25.12 If you read it without the original language, 00:34:25.13\00:34:26.71 you'd discover there was no unknown tongue. Right. 00:34:26.72\00:34:28.99 There was simply a tongue. Yes. 00:34:29.00\00:34:30.44 That was only considered "unknown" 00:34:30.45\00:34:32.31 because the person listening to you was English 00:34:32.32\00:34:35.83 and you're speaking in German. 00:34:35.84\00:34:37.64 So the word "unknown" was simply to emphasize the fact 00:34:37.65\00:34:40.16 that it was important that you do not use a language 00:34:40.17\00:34:44.04 that the listener cannot understand. 00:34:44.05\00:34:46.35 But all through the New King James Version, 00:34:46.36\00:34:48.49 like for example, 1 Corinthians 14 verse 2. 00:34:48.50\00:34:51.29 Read 1 Corinthians 14 verse 2. 00:34:51.30\00:34:52.41 I'm right there, I'm right there. 00:34:52.42\00:34:53.51 Read it. Okay. 00:34:53.52\00:34:54.61 "For he that speaks in an unknown tongue, 00:34:54.62\00:34:56.80 really in a tongue, a language, 00:34:56.81\00:34:58.27 speaks not unto men, but unto God, 00:34:58.28\00:34:59.92 for no man understands him, 00:34:59.93\00:35:01.66 howbeit in the spirit he speaks mysteries." 00:35:01.67\00:35:04.70 Okay. So when you read it in New Kings, 00:35:04.71\00:35:07.22 "For he who speaks in a tongue 00:35:07.23\00:35:09.30 does not speak to men but to God, 00:35:09.31\00:35:10.84 for no one understands him, 00:35:10.85\00:35:11.99 however, in the spirit he speaks mysteries" 00:35:12.00\00:35:15.51 and it says in verse 4, "He who speaks in a tongue 00:35:15.52\00:35:18.34 edifies himself, but he who prophesies, 00:35:18.35\00:35:20.64 edifies the Church." 00:35:20.65\00:35:22.00 And in this multi-port city, in this port city 00:35:22.01\00:35:26.05 where many languages were there, 00:35:26.06\00:35:28.05 there was a battle between what language to use 00:35:28.06\00:35:30.93 among the congregation of worship services. 00:35:30.94\00:35:34.27 And Paul says, "Wait aminute, wait a minute" 00:35:34.28\00:35:36.05 and he began this whole discourse by saying, 00:35:36.06\00:35:38.98 "I thank God that I speak with more tongues than all of you." 00:35:38.99\00:35:44.75 Was he saying I speak with more mysterious languages? 00:35:44.76\00:35:48.43 No. No, Paul was an educated man. 00:35:48.44\00:35:51.44 He said, "I could communicate to the Romans, 00:35:51.45\00:35:52.97 to the Hebrews, to the Parthians, to the Elamites. 00:35:52.98\00:35:56.88 I can communicate because that's my skill, 00:35:56.89\00:35:58.86 my ability, I'm educated. 00:35:58.87\00:36:01.41 But, you guys don't have as many gifts as I have. 00:36:01.42\00:36:04.08 You don't have that ability." 00:36:04.09\00:36:05.59 So instead of bringing confusion 00:36:05.60\00:36:07.61 where people don't understand, 00:36:07.62\00:36:09.19 its better that you speak five words. 00:36:09.20\00:36:12.98 In verse 19, read 1 Corinthians 14 verse 19. 00:36:12.99\00:36:15.10 Oh, I love this because the whole context 00:36:15.11\00:36:17.16 of this is in contrast to love. 00:36:17.17\00:36:19.23 Love doesn't flaunt itself. Doesn't edify itself. 00:36:19.24\00:36:21.65 Doesn't build itself up. 00:36:21.66\00:36:22.98 So as he's contrasting here in Chapter 14, 00:36:22.99\00:36:26.40 he says, you know, you can desire spiritual gifts, 00:36:26.41\00:36:28.51 but I'd rather you prophecy 00:36:28.52\00:36:29.68 because when you speak it in this language, 00:36:29.69\00:36:32.42 only God understands what you're saying. 00:36:32.43\00:36:34.43 Maybe you have, you know, 00:36:34.44\00:36:36.04 a manifestation of the Spirit 00:36:36.05\00:36:37.12 and maybe you are able to speak 00:36:37.13\00:36:38.47 in these different languages, 00:36:38.48\00:36:39.70 but only God understands what you're saying. 00:36:39.71\00:36:41.39 But you're here to edify the body. 00:36:41.40\00:36:43.39 So I'd rather have you prophecy 00:36:43.40\00:36:44.74 but "He that prophesies speaks unto edification." 00:36:44.75\00:36:47.64 And then in verse 4, 00:36:47.65\00:36:49.06 "He that speaks in an unknown tongue edifies himself." 00:36:49.07\00:36:52.07 Paul, the very context he is telling us here 00:36:52.08\00:36:54.20 the gifts aren't given to edify yourself. 00:36:54.21\00:36:55.88 The gift is given to edify the body, 00:36:55.89\00:36:57.31 "But he that prophesies, edifies the church." 00:36:57.32\00:36:59.27 "I would rather you all spake with tongues." 00:36:59.28\00:37:02.59 Excuse me, "I would rather, 00:37:02.60\00:37:04.04 I would that you all spoke with tongues, 00:37:04.05\00:37:05.81 but rather that you prophesied, 00:37:05.82\00:37:07.54 for greater is he that prophesies 00:37:07.55\00:37:09.42 that he that speaks with tongues, except." 00:37:09.43\00:37:13.04 I wanna read that again, slow down, 00:37:13.05\00:37:14.88 "I would rather that you all spake with tongues-- 00:37:14.89\00:37:17.38 I would that you all spake with tongues 00:37:17.39\00:37:19.29 but rather that you prophesied, 00:37:19.30\00:37:21.20 for greater is he that prophesied 00:37:21.21\00:37:23.27 that he that speaks with tongues, except he interpret 00:37:23.28\00:37:27.38 and that the church may receive edifying." 00:37:27.39\00:37:29.65 Now just want to point out this point right here, John. 00:37:29.66\00:37:33.63 Paul is saying here the only reason 00:37:33.64\00:37:35.87 you should speak with tongues is to edify the church. Right. 00:37:35.88\00:37:39.32 The only reason you should speak 00:37:39.33\00:37:40.41 with tongues is to edify the church. 00:37:40.42\00:37:43.42 The gift of tongues is not given for you to speak to God 00:37:43.43\00:37:46.00 in some unknown language for your own advocate. 00:37:46.01\00:37:48.48 You just have to find yourself. 00:37:48.49\00:37:49.91 The context of 1 Corinthians, 1 Corinthians 12, 00:37:49.92\00:37:52.81 13 and 14 is telling us not that this is right 00:37:52.82\00:37:56.22 It's telling us this is wrong. 00:37:56.23\00:37:57.45 I don't want you doing this. 00:37:57.46\00:37:58.65 Love doesn't edify itself. Love edifies others. 00:37:58.66\00:38:01.60 And this is a most powerful point, 00:38:01.61\00:38:03.41 I want to read verse 22 because this is something 00:38:03.42\00:38:05.82 that completely trumps the idea 00:38:05.83\00:38:08.76 that Christians need to speak in tongues. 00:38:08.77\00:38:12.09 "Wherefore tongues are for a sign, 00:38:12.10\00:38:17.13 not to them that believe." 00:38:17.14\00:38:21.03 Now wait a minute. That's the biggest place 00:38:21.04\00:38:23.37 where it's emphasized that among those who believe. 00:38:23.38\00:38:27.14 But to the unbeliever, why to the one who doesn't believe? 00:38:27.15\00:38:32.03 Because they will know, wait a minute, 00:38:32.04\00:38:34.12 wait a minute, is that Peter, the Galilean, 00:38:34.13\00:38:38.48 wait a minute, wait a minute, 00:38:38.49\00:38:39.85 when they see that Peter is able to do something 00:38:39.86\00:38:42.23 that they know he's not naturally gifted with, 00:38:42.24\00:38:44.71 they will be convinced of the work of the Spirit of God 00:38:44.72\00:38:48.05 in his life and then that believer-- 00:38:48.06\00:38:49.76 that nonbeliever becomes a believer. 00:38:49.77\00:38:53.04 Believers don't need evidence, the sign, 00:38:53.05\00:38:56.17 the tongue--the gift of tongues was a sign 00:38:56.18\00:39:00.56 for those who didn't believe. 00:39:00.57\00:39:01.86 It's kind of like when we get into ourselves. 00:39:01.87\00:39:03.65 We get into our little church groups and we're all about, 00:39:03.66\00:39:06.27 I have got this gift. I have got that gift. 00:39:06.28\00:39:07.69 And we're all--and we're not doing evangelism. 00:39:07.70\00:39:09.72 We're not doing outreach. We're just all into ourselves. 00:39:09.73\00:39:12.71 That's your--that's your verse. This is my verse-- 00:39:12.72\00:39:14.69 But let me finish the verse because 00:39:14.70\00:39:15.76 there's a second half to it. All right. 00:39:15.77\00:39:16.78 But we have to keep this mind 00:39:16.79\00:39:17.97 because here's the key if you go to-- 00:39:17.98\00:39:20.93 if you say to a non-believer, 00:39:20.94\00:39:24.30 if James who speaks English is standing on the corner 00:39:24.31\00:39:27.40 and he's speaking in a language, 00:39:27.43\00:39:29.21 somebody says, "Isn't that the guy that lives, 00:39:29.22\00:39:31.42 you know, like, I've seen him in the store a lot, 00:39:31.43\00:39:34.25 but I've never heard him speak in, what language is that?" 00:39:34.26\00:39:37.69 And somebody says, "I'm from Germany. 00:39:37.70\00:39:39.76 He's speaking in German." 00:39:39.77\00:39:41.05 And then when this whole manifestation is done, 00:39:41.06\00:39:42.73 somebody says, "Why were you speaking in German?" 00:39:42.74\00:39:46.17 And the lady who is German heard that message 00:39:46.18\00:39:48.39 and God communicated to her. 00:39:48.40\00:39:49.84 That very moment something 00:39:49.85\00:39:51.00 that God knew she needed to hear. 00:39:51.01\00:39:53.41 And people all of a sudden, who were not believers say, 00:39:53.42\00:39:56.95 "Wow, that's powerful and I heard he was a Christian. 00:39:56.96\00:40:00.48 And, I guess, there's something about this Christianity. 00:40:00.49\00:40:02.39 Maybe, I need to look into that because 00:40:02.40\00:40:03.69 I know that he doesn't speak that language. 00:40:03.70\00:40:05.86 That's not--I've never had that experience with him. 00:40:05.87\00:40:08.47 He is American, one language." 00:40:08.48\00:40:11.93 He speaks English only. 00:40:11.94\00:40:12.99 Right, but now look at the rest of that verse, verse 22, 00:40:13.00\00:40:16.62 "but prophesying is not for unbelievers 00:40:16.63\00:40:19.95 but for those who believe." Why? 00:40:19.96\00:40:22.11 You don't preach, when they got together 00:40:22.12\00:40:24.78 in their worship services, 00:40:24.79\00:40:26.20 they were preaching the Gospel to the believers. 00:40:26.21\00:40:29.87 It wouldn't benefit a person who didn't believe. 00:40:29.88\00:40:32.07 You first have to make them 00:40:32.08\00:40:33.07 a believer then to preach to them. 00:40:33.08\00:40:35.59 That was the Corinthian experience here. 00:40:35.60\00:40:37.82 So but the world has a backward though, 00:40:37.83\00:40:39.47 all Christian churches has a backward, 00:40:39.48\00:40:40.94 they're saying tongues are for believers 00:40:40.95\00:40:43.94 when tongues are not assigned for believers. 00:40:43.95\00:40:46.72 In fact, Paul says, and this is my verse, 00:40:46.73\00:40:48.91 I mean when I say my verse-- Sure I got you. 00:40:48.92\00:40:50.61 This really--it really clicks in my mind right here. Okay? 00:40:50.62\00:40:53.19 How do we make this practical? What is the bottom line? 00:40:53.20\00:40:55.55 What is Paul trying to communicate here? 00:40:55.56\00:40:57.39 Yes, John, he's trying to communicate that, 00:40:57.40\00:40:59.72 "Hey, tongues are actually for unbelievers not for believers." 00:40:59.73\00:41:03.88 Oh, here right there, then this verse, verse 19, 00:41:03.89\00:41:07.35 "Yet in the Church I would rather 00:41:07.36\00:41:09.65 speak five words with my understanding." That's right. 00:41:09.66\00:41:13.78 Hello, how are you today? 00:41:13.79\00:41:17.68 Paul says I'd rather you say to someone, 00:41:17.69\00:41:19.35 hello, how are you today? 00:41:19.39\00:41:20.70 "Five words of my understanding 00:41:20.71\00:41:22.51 and that my voice might teach others also, 00:41:22.52\00:41:26.65 than ten thousand words in an unknown tongue." 00:41:26.66\00:41:30.45 It became self edified. 00:41:30.46\00:41:32.08 It became this self exalting spirit 00:41:32.09\00:41:35.35 that was in the Church in Corinth 00:41:35.36\00:41:36.78 and Paul says it'd be better 00:41:36.79\00:41:37.82 just ask someone how they're doing? 00:41:37.83\00:41:39.18 Than to go on out there and just start gobbling 00:41:39.19\00:41:41.17 all this--this unknown language 00:41:41.18\00:41:42.80 that they don't even comprehend or understand. 00:41:42.81\00:41:44.65 Now, John, the question was this. 00:41:44.66\00:41:46.37 I just wanted to get back to this 00:41:46.38\00:41:47.42 and make even more practical. 00:41:47.43\00:41:49.56 The question was how come the Spirit of tongues 00:41:49.57\00:41:52.50 or the Spirit of languages or this gift of the Spirit 00:41:52.51\00:41:54.80 is not manifested in the church? 00:41:54.81\00:41:56.38 And the answer is in Romans. And the answer is, it is. 00:41:56.39\00:42:01.27 I remember sitting in a meeting 00:42:01.28\00:42:03.54 and I was sitting next to a person, a doctor, 00:42:03.55\00:42:06.92 who was from another country 00:42:06.93\00:42:08.65 and they were listening to the meeting 00:42:08.66\00:42:10.58 and the person next to him was translating the meeting. 00:42:10.59\00:42:13.97 And I knew the speaker, of course, 00:42:13.98\00:42:15.47 I knew these people also that's why 00:42:15.48\00:42:16.59 I was sitting next to them. 00:42:16.60\00:42:17.63 And the translator is translating, 00:42:17.64\00:42:18.77 translator is translating, 00:42:18.78\00:42:19.84 at about halfway through the meeting, 00:42:19.85\00:42:21.59 this doctor said don't translate 00:42:21.60\00:42:23.79 anymore in their language. 00:42:23.80\00:42:26.07 Don't translate anymore, I can understand. 00:42:26.08\00:42:28.20 And that person sat through the rest of that meeting 00:42:28.21\00:42:30.53 comprehending everything the speaker was saying. 00:42:30.54\00:42:32.71 Oh, yeah. And after it was over, their face was flesh red. 00:42:32.72\00:42:36.66 They couldn't believe it. And I was just amazed. 00:42:36.67\00:42:39.53 I said, "Really, you understood that?" 00:42:39.54\00:42:40.80 "Yes, I understood every word he was saying, 00:42:40.81\00:42:42.48 I understood that." 00:42:42.49\00:42:43.60 That is a manifestation of the gift of tongues. 00:42:43.63\00:42:46.28 That is the manifestation of the gift of languages. 00:42:46.29\00:42:48.27 It's not just-- it's not just someone 00:42:48.28\00:42:49.91 that speaks the language necessarily 00:42:49.92\00:42:51.70 but it's also someone that can-- 00:42:51.71\00:42:53.00 you can hear in your own language 00:42:53.01\00:42:55.56 what the person is saying. 00:42:55.57\00:42:57.87 It's a gift that is given in order to perceive 00:42:57.88\00:43:00.16 not only to speak in a way that is understanding the Gospel. 00:43:00.17\00:43:05.30 And that's wonderful. 00:43:05.31\00:43:06.59 The Lord, but He manifests those things 00:43:06.60\00:43:08.94 when the time is right and when the circumstances demand it. 00:43:08.95\00:43:12.61 Not as a sign that I'm saved. Yes. 00:43:12.62\00:43:14.62 That's so vitally, that's out of the context though, 00:43:14.63\00:43:16.68 but is not a saved sign. 00:43:16.69\00:43:17.85 And it's not a sign of self edification, self exaltation. 00:43:17.86\00:43:20.51 Definitely not. And lastly, 00:43:20.52\00:43:24.05 the question the person asked was why is it-- 00:43:24.06\00:43:26.02 why does your church not use the prayer language of tongues? 00:43:26.03\00:43:29.38 Okay. Okay, Romans 8 verse 26 to 28, 00:43:29.39\00:43:32.12 we're gonna end on that one. 00:43:32.13\00:43:33.36 We know verse 28 is, we know all things 00:43:33.37\00:43:36.01 work together to get to them, 00:43:36.02\00:43:37.01 that love of God and those who are called 00:43:37.02\00:43:38.44 according to his purpose, that's verse 28. 00:43:38.45\00:43:40.61 Romans 8 verse 26, and it says, 00:43:40.62\00:43:43.44 "Likewise the Spirit also helps or helpeth 00:43:43.45\00:43:47.03 our infirmities or our weakness. 00:43:47.04\00:43:50.66 For we know not what we should pray for." 00:43:50.67\00:43:53.89 We don't how to pray as we ought. 00:43:53.90\00:43:56.98 "But the Spirit himself maketh intercession 00:43:56.99\00:44:01.52 or makes intercession for us." 00:44:01.53\00:44:03.49 And get this, this is the unknown tongue, 00:44:03.50\00:44:06.93 the Spirit uses an unknown tongue, 00:44:06.96\00:44:09.39 "With groanings which cannot be uttered." 00:44:09.40\00:44:13.41 In other words, I can't do it. 00:44:13.42\00:44:15.40 James can't do it but the Spirit does it. 00:44:15.41\00:44:18.40 Now he who searches the hearts knows 00:44:18.41\00:44:20.78 what the mind of the Spirit is, 00:44:20.79\00:44:22.97 because he makes intercession for the saints 00:44:22.98\00:44:25.27 according to the will of God. 00:44:25.28\00:44:26.79 So the Spirit now, brings it before Christ, 00:44:26.80\00:44:29.53 Christ now intercedes on our behalf. 00:44:29.54\00:44:31.59 But the Spirit communicates in a way that we cannot. 00:44:31.60\00:44:34.72 So it is not necessary for you to try 00:44:34.73\00:44:37.08 to figure out a language to communicate. 00:44:37.09\00:44:39.03 That's what the Spirit does. He is the one communicating. 00:44:39.04\00:44:42.67 He is the one bringing it before Christ. 00:44:42.68\00:44:44.47 Christ bringing it before the Father, 00:44:44.48\00:44:46.09 the one mediator between God and man. 00:44:46.10\00:44:47.88 You're talking about our personal prayer life. 00:44:47.89\00:44:49.33 In our prayer life. 00:44:49.34\00:44:50.33 Because that phrase there, which cannot be uttered is key. 00:44:50.34\00:44:52.79 'Cause that word uttered means unspeakable. Exactly. 00:44:52.80\00:44:55.24 He is the one that's speaking in unspeakable language. 00:44:55.25\00:44:57.87 That's right. Yeah. 00:44:57.88\00:44:59.57 We can't do it. We are incapable 00:44:59.58\00:45:01.77 and God has not given us that right. 00:45:01.78\00:45:03.90 Well, God has not given us that ability 00:45:03.91\00:45:05.60 because this is a spiritual ability. 00:45:05.61\00:45:08.51 It's a divine ability which we are very human in that, 00:45:08.52\00:45:11.44 in many particulars. Wow. 00:45:11.45\00:45:13.52 We've covered that in pretty good detail 00:45:13.53\00:45:15.07 but simply it was a short question. Short question. 00:45:15.08\00:45:17.67 Not short answer. I think we're gonna segue right now. 00:45:17.68\00:45:22.42 Have we already segued? Yeah, I think we already did. 00:45:22.43\00:45:25.35 No, that's our last question, is it? That's it. 00:45:25.36\00:45:27.45 Well, thank you for your questions. 00:45:27.46\00:45:28.94 We need to get into our-- We took a lot of time today. 00:45:28.95\00:45:30.73 We need to get into our subject. 00:45:30.74\00:45:31.81 We're gonna hit this very, very quickly today. 00:45:31.82\00:45:33.12 But thank you for your questions. 00:45:33.13\00:45:35.20 If you have anymore questions you want to send to us, 00:45:35.21\00:45:37.22 you can send those to housecalls@3abn.org. 00:45:37.23\00:45:40.23 That's housecalls@3abn.org. 00:45:40.24\00:45:42.77 As you can tell, we're firing on all 12 cylinders. 00:45:42.78\00:45:46.82 That's providing we're on Mercedes Benz. 00:45:46.83\00:45:48.54 We're in Christ. We're Mercedes Benzes. 00:45:48.55\00:45:51.57 James, let's catapult into the three aspects. 00:45:51.58\00:45:55.70 What are the three messages of the three angels? 00:45:55.71\00:45:58.65 Let's talk about that. Revelation Chapter 14, 00:45:58.66\00:46:00.58 that's where we left of, Revelation 14 00:46:00.59\00:46:02.78 introduces the three angels messages 00:46:02.79\00:46:04.59 with the everlasting Gospel. 00:46:04.60\00:46:05.77 That is the phrase that molds and fashions 00:46:05.78\00:46:08.52 and directs us in understanding 00:46:08.53\00:46:10.12 what the three angel messages are. 00:46:10.13\00:46:12.04 And so everything needs to be understood 00:46:12.05\00:46:13.92 in the context of the everlasting Gospel. 00:46:13.93\00:46:15.67 The everlasting Gospel is good news. 00:46:15.68\00:46:18.07 It's the everlasting good news. 00:46:18.08\00:46:19.87 It's the salvation that has been provided 00:46:19.88\00:46:21.50 for the entire world in Jesus Christ 00:46:21.51\00:46:23.89 from the very foundation of the world. 00:46:23.90\00:46:25.81 At Revelation 13, it tells us, 00:46:25.82\00:46:27.94 "Jesus is the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world." 00:46:27.95\00:46:30.92 So Revelation 14 verse 6 is proclaiming a message 00:46:30.93\00:46:35.90 that is to every nation, kinder, tongue, 00:46:35.91\00:46:37.59 and people of good news 00:46:37.60\00:46:39.18 that Jesus Christ is the Savior of all men. 00:46:39.19\00:46:42.38 From beginning to end, He is your Savior 00:46:42.39\00:46:44.22 and He is my Savior and that informs 00:46:44.23\00:46:46.91 the rest of the message, to fear God, 00:46:46.92\00:46:49.79 put our trust in God, and to reveal Him, 00:46:49.80\00:46:51.91 and as we glory to Him, trust in Him, 00:46:51.92\00:46:53.91 and His righteousness and be saved by grace 00:46:53.92\00:46:57.02 through faith for it the hour of His Judgment is come. 00:46:57.03\00:47:00.95 The hour when we're going to be vindicated 00:47:00.96\00:47:03.38 by our defense lawyer, 00:47:03.39\00:47:04.40 by our advocate Jesus Christ from the accusations of Satan. 00:47:04.41\00:47:07.28 So that we don't have to judge one another anymore. 00:47:07.29\00:47:09.38 We don't have to become critical 00:47:09.39\00:47:10.38 or judgmental of others. 00:47:10.39\00:47:11.98 We don't have to pretend to be followers of Christ 00:47:11.99\00:47:14.63 but not really be followers of Christ and worship Him, 00:47:14.64\00:47:17.39 who made heaven, and earth, and the seas 00:47:17.40\00:47:18.82 and the fountains of waters. 00:47:18.83\00:47:20.15 I don't know how much we want to get into that part there? 00:47:20.16\00:47:23.66 I think it's important to touch on the fact 00:47:23.67\00:47:25.25 that the worship that is important then, 00:47:25.26\00:47:27.12 you know, John 4 verse 23, it says, 00:47:27.13\00:47:29.06 for the hour is coming in the which, sorry, 00:47:29.07\00:47:31.51 it says, "For the hour has come, that the true--" 00:47:31.52\00:47:33.65 And now is. And now is "that the true worshipper 00:47:33.66\00:47:37.71 must worship the Father in Spirit and in truth, 00:47:37.72\00:47:41.10 for the Father seeketh such to worship him." 00:47:41.11\00:47:43.30 So worship is a key aspect of this Judgment, 00:47:43.31\00:47:47.13 our message or the Three Angels messages. 00:47:47.14\00:47:49.56 It's not just worship the way you want to and in the society 00:47:49.57\00:47:52.32 that we have nowadays, more specifically, 00:47:52.33\00:47:53.96 the religious world, people just worship any or how, 00:47:53.97\00:47:57.63 everything that, you know 00:47:57.64\00:47:58.93 if we include the name Jesus in it or God in it, 00:47:58.94\00:48:01.70 all of a sudden, it has been rubberstamped 00:48:01.71\00:48:03.52 without examining the content that is acceptable to worship. 00:48:03.53\00:48:06.87 The Lord is saying, "I want to take you back to worship 00:48:06.88\00:48:09.49 as I established it from the very beginning. 00:48:09.50\00:48:12.04 Not just worship, in the ethereal sense, 00:48:12.05\00:48:16.25 but even the day that I've established 00:48:16.26\00:48:20.12 as a day of honoring." 00:48:20.13\00:48:21.68 Now remember this, we worship the Lord everyday. 00:48:21.69\00:48:24.38 But He says, "Wait a minute, 00:48:24.39\00:48:25.47 I've got the special sign 00:48:25.48\00:48:26.96 that I've established from the very beginning 00:48:26.97\00:48:29.07 that has been ignored throughout the centuries, 00:48:29.08\00:48:30.87 throughout the millennia. 00:48:30.88\00:48:32.05 And I'm calling people back to that." 00:48:32.06\00:48:33.69 In fact, yeah, you connect it, 00:48:33.70\00:48:35.51 because there is a direct connection 00:48:35.52\00:48:37.00 between 00:48:37.01\00:48:38.78 and the fourth commandment of the Old Testament. 00:48:38.79\00:48:42.44 In Revelation 14:7 there's a call to worship Him 00:48:42.45\00:48:45.36 who made heaven, and earth, 00:48:45.37\00:48:46.92 and the seas and the fountains of waters. 00:48:46.93\00:48:49.29 Now look at this in contrast with the fourth commandment. 00:48:49.30\00:48:52.39 Now we're going right here to Exodus Chapter 20. 00:48:52.40\00:48:56.68 I'm going to look in Exodus Chapter 20 at verse 11. 00:48:56.69\00:49:00.42 Exodus Chapter 20 and look at verse 11. 00:49:00.43\00:49:03.97 The context of it is to remember 00:49:03.98\00:49:05.18 the Sabbath day, to keep it holy. 00:49:05.19\00:49:06.41 Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work. 00:49:06.42\00:49:08.00 But the seventh day is the Sabbath of the Lord thy God. 00:49:08.01\00:49:10.04 Then verse 11, "For in six days the Lord 00:49:10.05\00:49:12.66 made heaven and earth, and the sea, 00:49:12.67\00:49:15.97 and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day, 00:49:15.98\00:49:19.40 wherefore the Lord blessed 00:49:19.41\00:49:20.80 the Sabbath day, and hallowed it." 00:49:20.81\00:49:22.66 Now we're also making a connection, in Exodus 20. 00:49:22.67\00:49:25.31 We're making a connection back to Genesis Chapter 2. 00:49:25.32\00:49:29.18 That's right. But before we go there, 00:49:29.19\00:49:30.77 I want you to see the parallel that's found here 00:49:30.78\00:49:33.31 between Revelation 14 verse 7 and Exodus 20, 00:49:33.32\00:49:37.20 "Worship Him who made heaven, and earth, and the seas, 00:49:37.21\00:49:39.02 and the fountains of waters. 00:49:39.03\00:49:40.89 For in six days the Lord made 00:49:40.90\00:49:42.13 heaven and earth, and the sea, and all that in them is, 00:49:42.14\00:49:44.22 and rested on the seventh day." Right. 00:49:44.23\00:49:45.95 There's a direct connection 00:49:45.96\00:49:47.07 that's taking place here between the two. 00:49:47.08\00:49:49.71 You have a direct quote now, 00:49:49.72\00:49:51.45 why is God calling us back? 00:49:51.48\00:49:53.64 Here's the reason, there's a lot of confusion in there. 00:49:53.65\00:49:55.84 I was raised in a catholic home. 00:49:55.85\00:49:57.46 I became a born again Christian. 00:49:57.47\00:49:58.54 I was going to a Cabot Chapel Church. 00:49:58.55\00:49:59.95 I was going to Pentecostal Church. My sister came around. 00:49:59.96\00:50:02.22 She starts telling me about going to church on Saturday. 00:50:02.23\00:50:03.88 I'm thinking what? Saturday, what do you mean Saturday? 00:50:03.89\00:50:06.85 She says that's what the Bible teaches. 00:50:06.86\00:50:08.32 I don't know that story. 00:50:08.33\00:50:09.33 I said I have no idea that the Bible 00:50:09.34\00:50:11.23 teaches we to go to church on Saturday. 00:50:11.24\00:50:12.35 In fact, I think that's kind of strange 00:50:12.36\00:50:14.61 that you go to church on Saturday. 00:50:14.62\00:50:16.04 What was I at that point? Confused. 00:50:16.05\00:50:18.51 Right. I was confused. 00:50:18.52\00:50:19.95 See, Babylon represents spiritual confusion 00:50:19.96\00:50:23.28 and I was spiritually confused. 00:50:23.29\00:50:24.86 In fact, I was sure that the Bible taught 00:50:24.87\00:50:27.16 we should go to Church on Sunday 00:50:27.17\00:50:28.19 and so I went to my Bible. I went to my pastor. 00:50:28.20\00:50:29.89 I began to study the Bible, looking for the text 00:50:29.90\00:50:31.74 'cause I was trying to get my sister 00:50:31.75\00:50:32.87 out of this Seventh-day Adventist church, okay? Okay. 00:50:32.88\00:50:36.32 She was studying when. She hadn't joined yet. 00:50:36.33\00:50:38.28 And so I figured I got time to get her out of this 00:50:38.29\00:50:40.12 before she actually gets baptized and joins this church. 00:50:40.13\00:50:42.81 But I was confused. Now I thought she was confused. 00:50:42.82\00:50:46.38 But when the Gospel is preached 00:50:46.39\00:50:48.46 which includes or incorporates this call to worship God 00:50:48.47\00:50:51.69 who made heaven, earth, seas and fountains of waters, 00:50:51.70\00:50:53.75 when you go back to the Bible 00:50:53.76\00:50:55.11 and see what the Bible says about God creating 00:50:55.12\00:50:57.99 heavens, earth, seas and fountains of waters. 00:50:58.00\00:50:59.85 When you recognize the fourth commandment, 00:50:59.86\00:51:01.34 it says that He created and then rested on the Sabbath 00:51:01.35\00:51:04.30 and blessed and sanctify and then you go back to Genesis 00:51:04.31\00:51:06.32 and find that to be so, the confusion falls. 00:51:06.33\00:51:10.30 Babylon falls, the confusion falls. 00:51:10.31\00:51:12.31 I was very clear in my mind. 00:51:12.32\00:51:14.02 If I'm going to follow the Bible, not my church, 00:51:14.03\00:51:16.88 not my pastor, not my tradition, 00:51:16.89\00:51:18.66 not what people say, not the reasons they give. 00:51:18.67\00:51:20.67 But if I'm gonna follow the clear word of God, 00:51:20.68\00:51:23.12 then I'm going to start keeping the Seventh-day Sabbath. 00:51:23.13\00:51:26.34 I was amazed. But that is what I've just given you 00:51:26.35\00:51:29.23 a practical demonstration of what 00:51:29.24\00:51:31.11 these texts are actually saying. 00:51:31.12\00:51:32.75 When the Gospel is preached, that calls us to worship God 00:51:32.76\00:51:35.29 who made heaven, earth, seas and the fountains of waters, 00:51:35.30\00:51:37.08 the confusion about what day we should worship him falls. 00:51:37.09\00:51:39.72 Falls. And you know in 1 Corinthians 00:51:39.73\00:51:42.67 and the text there in 1 Corinthians Chapter 14, 00:51:42.68\00:51:44.92 "For God is not the author of confusion." 00:51:44.93\00:51:47.20 Right. Babylon, confusion. 00:51:47.21\00:51:48.94 So you have to ask yourself the question, 00:51:48.95\00:51:50.70 then who is the author of confusion? Well, Satan is? 00:51:50.71\00:51:53.46 So there are sincere Christians 00:51:53.47\00:51:54.67 who have given a bill, a bill of goods 00:51:54.68\00:51:57.14 that are not really good goods, 00:51:57.15\00:51:58.34 bad goods, bill of bads and God is saying, 00:51:58.35\00:52:01.52 "At this hour, I wanna clear up all the things 00:52:01.53\00:52:03.67 that have been, that have been a point 00:52:03.68\00:52:05.37 of misconstruing the everlasting Gospel." 00:52:05.38\00:52:08.29 They are those who love Me 00:52:08.30\00:52:09.37 that need to come out of darkness 00:52:09.38\00:52:10.50 into His marvelous light and that's where 00:52:10.51\00:52:12.20 we transition to the second message. 00:52:12.21\00:52:14.22 Because when it says Babylon is fallen, 00:52:14.23\00:52:16.09 is fallen, you know Babylon has substituted 00:52:16.10\00:52:19.92 the day of worship for the true day of worship. Yes. 00:52:19.93\00:52:23.52 Babylon has been a place where the Sun God 00:52:23.53\00:52:27.71 had been worshipped for many, many, 00:52:27.74\00:52:29.11 many, many, hundreds of years. 00:52:29.12\00:52:31.81 And so that's why the Lord uses the phrase Babylon. 00:52:31.82\00:52:35.57 It's a great and glorious and mighty city 00:52:35.58\00:52:37.14 from all external evidences. 00:52:37.15\00:52:38.39 It looks like it's impregnable but the Lord has seen 00:52:38.40\00:52:41.02 there's a weakness in Babylon. 00:52:41.03\00:52:42.52 It has defiled the same thing that Belshazzar did. 00:52:42.53\00:52:47.09 He poured wine into the vessels of the Lord. 00:52:47.10\00:52:50.84 He defiled the vessels of the Lord 00:52:50.85\00:52:53.20 and the vessels of God, many of His precious sayings 00:52:53.21\00:52:55.51 have been defiled by imbibing the wine of Babylon. 00:52:55.52\00:52:59.80 See that's all instituted in this message. 00:52:59.81\00:53:01.82 So those who've been drunken by the wine of Babylon, 00:53:01.85\00:53:04.37 and, James, one of the things 00:53:04.38\00:53:05.60 I bring out here and we're talking fast. 00:53:05.64\00:53:07.30 I'm talking like a New York speed right now. All right. 00:53:07.31\00:53:09.67 One of the reasons why we talk 00:53:09.68\00:53:10.96 about this is because wine inebriates. 00:53:10.97\00:53:13.34 It's hard to get a person who's been in Babylon 00:53:13.35\00:53:15.50 spiritually for so long to see something very, very clear 00:53:15.51\00:53:18.66 because wine or alcohol, 00:53:18.67\00:53:21.31 it messes with the persons, their equilibrium. 00:53:21.32\00:53:25.42 So their beliefs are off kilter. 00:53:25.43\00:53:29.54 Their skew of the scripture is skewed 00:53:29.55\00:53:32.66 or their vision of the scripture is skewed. 00:53:32.67\00:53:33.95 Everything is off kilter. 00:53:33.96\00:53:35.27 And then when the message of God comes in, 00:53:35.28\00:53:37.02 this marvelous light is like shining a light 00:53:37.03\00:53:39.94 on the crack of a house that has been wrongly lined up, 00:53:39.95\00:53:43.53 and the person now I see it. 00:53:43.54\00:53:45.90 The light of God's glory, the message 00:53:45.91\00:53:47.40 that He has given to us, gives us 00:53:47.41\00:53:49.12 the visibility now like you had trying 00:53:49.13\00:53:52.15 to come out of this darkness. 00:53:52.16\00:53:53.79 You were trying to pull your sister into darkness 00:53:53.80\00:53:56.18 and she said no, it's time to come out of darkness, 00:53:56.19\00:53:57.82 and here you're proclaiming the good news of Gospel. 00:53:57.83\00:54:00.36 But here's the point I'm going to make, 00:54:00.37\00:54:01.77 Babylon has fallen, has fallen. 00:54:01.78\00:54:03.84 Babylon has fallen once, already in the eyes of God. 00:54:03.85\00:54:07.64 When the time comes for the greatest, 00:54:07.65\00:54:09.56 Babylon will be fallen in the eyes of man. Okay. 00:54:09.57\00:54:12.73 Is fallen, is fallen in the eyes of God already. 00:54:12.74\00:54:15.18 Babylon has already fallen. 00:54:15.19\00:54:16.69 But God has gonna reveal Babylon for what it really is. 00:54:16.70\00:54:19.25 A fallen message, a fallen system of worship, 00:54:19.26\00:54:22.00 a fallen day chosen to honor God. 00:54:22.03\00:54:24.99 God is not honored when you 00:54:25.00\00:54:26.10 connect His name to the wrong day. 00:54:26.11\00:54:28.85 Although we worship Him everyday, 00:54:28.86\00:54:30.33 He only blessed one, He can't bless another one. 00:54:30.34\00:54:32.98 You know, I like that connection you made 00:54:32.99\00:54:34.51 to the Old Testament's story of Babylon 00:54:34.52\00:54:37.29 and Chapter 5 of Daniel. 00:54:37.30\00:54:39.84 And I also wanted to connect it to Chapter 4 00:54:39.85\00:54:42.15 and Chapter 3 and Chapter 2. 00:54:42.16\00:54:44.64 Babylon is used in Revelation 14 00:54:44.65\00:54:46.90 because Babylon was a kingdom that God revealed truth to. 00:54:46.91\00:54:52.40 In Nebuchadnezzar Chapter 2, 00:54:52.41\00:54:53.92 Nebuchadnezzar was the first king of Babylon-- 00:54:53.96\00:54:55.99 It is Daniel chapter 2. Excuse me, Daniel Chapter 2. 00:54:56.00\00:54:58.81 I was gonna say Nebuchadnezzar chapter 4. 00:54:58.82\00:55:00.44 Daniel Chapter 2, 00:55:00.45\00:55:01.82 Nebuchadnezzar was the first person 00:55:01.83\00:55:03.10 to attend a Daniel seminar. 00:55:03.11\00:55:04.58 Hey, I like that. He sat on the front row. 00:55:04.59\00:55:06.17 He listened every night. 00:55:06.18\00:55:07.34 I mean, he listened to the whole vision. 00:55:07.35\00:55:09.85 And he said your God is the God of gods. 00:55:09.86\00:55:11.52 But in Daniel 3, he took the truth of the vision 00:55:11.53\00:55:14.56 that God had given him of this image of gold, 00:55:14.57\00:55:16.60 and silver, and brass, and iron. 00:55:16.61\00:55:18.35 And he changed it all to gold. Right. 00:55:18.36\00:55:20.48 So Babylon represents a system 00:55:20.49\00:55:23.41 that takes the truth that God reveals but changes it. 00:55:23.42\00:55:26.65 Part of it is still there. The image is still there. 00:55:26.66\00:55:28.43 That's right. But part of it's been changed. 00:55:28.44\00:55:30.10 Now, does God help people in Babylon? 00:55:30.11\00:55:32.74 Daniel chapter 4, God was after Nebuchadnezzar. 00:55:32.75\00:55:36.48 Nebuchadnezzar was a man 00:55:36.52\00:55:38.40 who God wanted in His kingdom 00:55:38.41\00:55:40.00 and Nebuchadnezzar is going 00:55:40.01\00:55:41.30 to be saved in the kingdom of God. 00:55:41.31\00:55:42.54 Praise the lord. And so Babylon is not just a system 00:55:42.55\00:55:45.52 that changes the truth, reverse the truth, 00:55:45.53\00:55:47.07 takes the wine, fornicates that wine, 00:55:47.08\00:55:49.06 the teaching of the Gospel is fornicated 00:55:49.09\00:55:50.48 the wine, the blood of Christ, 00:55:50.52\00:55:51.52 representing salvation is fornicated, converted. 00:55:51.53\00:55:54.02 But God has people in Babylon. 00:55:54.03\00:55:56.02 And He wants to call them out of Babylon 00:55:56.03\00:55:57.46 and the way that Babylon falls 00:55:57.47\00:55:59.84 is by preaching the Gospel. 00:55:59.85\00:56:01.08 That's right. Babylon-- 00:56:01.09\00:56:02.29 Yeah, when the Gospel is preached, Babylon falls. 00:56:02.30\00:56:05.30 That's why these messages are given in order. 00:56:05.31\00:56:07.42 First message, everlasting Gospel, 00:56:07.43\00:56:09.29 second message, Babylon's falling. 00:56:09.30\00:56:11.07 That's right. You cannot bring Babylon down 00:56:11.08\00:56:13.27 by trying to identify Babylon. 00:56:13.28\00:56:14.61 You have to bring Babylon down by identifying 00:56:14.62\00:56:16.50 the Gospel of Jesus Christ. 00:56:16.51\00:56:18.00 The preaching of the Gospel brings the walls down. 00:56:18.01\00:56:20.20 When the trumpet is blown, 00:56:20.21\00:56:21.27 like it was in the day of Jericho, the walls came down. 00:56:21.28\00:56:25.01 And so you see clearly, 00:56:25.02\00:56:26.39 lift up your voice as a trumpet, 00:56:26.40\00:56:27.88 show my people there transgression 00:56:27.89\00:56:29.67 and the House of Jacob there are sins. 00:56:29.68\00:56:31.39 When the everlasting Gospel is proclaimed, 00:56:31.40\00:56:33.80 people see the light and they come out, 00:56:33.81\00:56:35.82 come out of her, my people, speaking about Babylon, 00:56:35.83\00:56:38.67 come out of her, my people, 00:56:38.68\00:56:39.76 the earth lightened with the glory of God, the Gospel. 00:56:39.77\00:56:43.05 Amen. Rahab was in the city of Jericho. 00:56:43.06\00:56:45.67 And Rahab trusted in that red cloth 00:56:45.68\00:56:49.59 which is the symbol of the righteousness of Christ. 00:56:49.63\00:56:51.52 You know, He's going to come with the white robe 00:56:51.53\00:56:52.68 dipped in blood and she was saved 00:56:52.69\00:56:54.58 and her household was saved 00:56:54.59\00:56:55.80 because they put their faith in the God of heaven. 00:56:55.81\00:56:58.19 That's right. And we're not gonna talk 00:56:58.20\00:56:59.19 about the mark of the Beast today 00:56:59.20\00:57:00.19 because the mark of the Beast 00:57:00.20\00:57:01.19 is a whole another topic altogether. 00:57:01.20\00:57:03.62 That's all encompassing. 00:57:03.63\00:57:05.19 You don't want to tap it and run away 00:57:05.20\00:57:07.66 because it's a message that encompasses 00:57:07.67\00:57:09.99 a lot more than people even imagine. 00:57:10.00\00:57:12.44 We can't do it in 20 seconds. 00:57:12.45\00:57:13.80 You can't do it in 20 seconds 00:57:13.81\00:57:15.02 and if we try it, we'll actually be stumped. 00:57:15.03\00:57:17.54 So let's end the program by saying this, 00:57:17.55\00:57:19.95 if you study the Gospel of Christ, 00:57:19.96\00:57:21.92 you'll see the vision of Christ. Amen. 00:57:21.93\00:57:24.27 You'll see the truth of God's word 00:57:24.28\00:57:25.83 and one thing you will discover, 00:57:25.84\00:57:27.17 when the light of God is glorified in your life 00:57:27.18\00:57:30.89 then you'll see Christ as He wants to be seen. 00:57:30.90\00:57:33.57 God bless you until we see you again. Amen. 00:57:33.58\00:57:36.55
