The first place I think of
in relation to this question

is Romans Chapter 13.

Okay. Romans Chapter 13

start there with verse 1.

picture that Paul is giving us.

that when Paul is writing this,

Paul is living under the
rulership of Roman Empire.

being the death of Paul.

Paul is actually killed under
Nero, he is beheaded under Nero

Christian, he's martyred.

what we're seeing here

is that there is a civil
power which is in Paul's time,

the Roman power
not the Jewish power

and then there is
this religious experiences,

religious power that we have,
00:04:42.18\00:04:43.51
this religious
authority that we have,

Jesus talks about
this in Mathew Chapter 5

and he clarifies
the difference between
00:04:48.54\00:04:51.23
the religious authority,
00:04:51.24\00:04:52.23
the religious powers
and the civil powers.
00:04:52.24\00:04:54.47
Religious
authority has its domain
00:04:54.48\00:04:56.91
in our hearts and in our minds.

We're to turn the other
cheek word to go the extra mile,

would have
forgive those who hurt us.

The civil power takes us
one step further than that.

The civil power is
based on an eye for an eye

and a tooth for a tooth.

He wasn't doing away
with the civil power.

He wasn't
abolishing the civil power.

He was putting it
in its proper place.

The Jews were no
longer under the theocracy.

They no longer
had civil jurisdiction

and so now individual Jews
were not to treat their enemies

according to the civil power,

according to the
civil principles,

these civil laws,
they were to treat them

according to the gospel,

principles of God's heart.

But that did not do away
with the civil authority,

so if you murder someone,

you're gonna be taken to jail

and you're gonna be
sentenced accordingly

according to
the laws of the land

and these civil
powers are ordained of God.

That's right. And we're
to submit these civil powers,

so Jesus isn't doing
away with civil laws,

He's enhancing
them, He's telling us

here is the civil power

and here's how you've to
submit to the civil power

and then here's how I want you

as individuals to treat someone.

For example, let just say
someone breaks into my home

and you know, does
commit some kind of murder,

takes-murders my wife

or does something
terrible to my children

and of course the police come,

they find him, they arrest them,
00:06:20.87\00:06:22.32
they take them to
jail and these judge
00:06:22.33\00:06:26.90
and the court
sentences that person
00:06:26.91\00:06:28.99
life imprisonment
or even execution.

Right. What is
my responsibility?

What is my place
as an individual?

First of all my
first responsibility

is to submit to the powers,
that be in another words,

I don't try to fight
the decision of the court.

Right. But at the same time,

God is calling me to forgive
that person as individual.

God is calling me
to exercise grace,

which will be very
difficult for me to do,

but by the grace of
God we can do that. Yes.

So there is the
distinction between the two.

That's what I see
in anyway in Roman 13,

in Mathew Chapter 5,

I see that clear distinction
between the civil authorities

and our personal responsibility
as ambassadors for God.

Right and some times
people have a difficult time,

I know in our
country there are some states
00:07:10.26\00:07:12.52
that favor capital punishment
and others that don't.
00:07:12.53\00:07:16.92
Some speak of the
inhumanity of the process,
00:07:16.93\00:07:22.22
I can't remember one
last person has been executed
00:07:22.23\00:07:24.80
by electric chair, but may
be there's one of the states
00:07:24.81\00:07:28.22
that still use that as a means
of executing of the offender.
00:07:28.23\00:07:32.59
Some by the lethal injection
00:07:32.60\00:07:35.95
but whenever this
comes up you know,

there're always
those who protest
00:07:37.85\00:07:39.20
and those who
say this is inhuman,

but not that these
things are the best method

to use to deal with an offender.

Sometimes I think life
imprisonment is more torture
00:07:51.64\00:07:56.63
than just ending a
person's miserable life,
00:07:56.64\00:07:59.25
because they have time to
think about what they had done.

They have time to
think about the offence,
00:08:01.80\00:08:04.41
but an answer to the question,

James uses these points,

here in James
Chapter 2, using the context,

it's speaking about
the commandments of God,

but I like the way it
brings it out in verse 12.

It says, "So
speak and so do as those
00:08:21.54\00:08:24.94
who will be judged by
the law of liberty." Okay.
00:08:24.95\00:08:28.13
So there are laws in
place and many of the laws
00:08:28.14\00:08:30.51
that are existing in our
land, in our country are laws
00:08:30.52\00:08:33.72
you'll see that are
patterned after the principles
00:08:33.73\00:08:36.14
and sometimes directly
from some of the laws of God.
00:08:36.15\00:08:39.28
That's why, you know

this clarion call we
are Christian nation.

You know, we are our system
00:08:42.63\00:08:44.46
is formed after the Judaic form
00:08:44.47\00:08:52.15
of a government
or of a religion.
00:08:52.16\00:08:55.19
But in every
society there are laws,

in every system there are laws
00:08:58.78\00:09:01.39
and I think the best thing to do
00:09:01.40\00:09:03.49
is if you are not wanting
to be judge by those laws,

then live in
harmony with those laws.

I think you made
a point a moment ago

that if something
happen to your family.

Lot of the crimes that
are committed are committed,

we call them heinous crimes,
really have no reason for.

Why would somebody
take another person's life

without defending themselves?

Why would
somebody walk into a store

and just rob the
store and kill the clerk?

So it's important
that these laws be in place

to hold the rains and I think

that's what God
intended when He established

these principles
in the Old Testament.

So a system without laws
and penalties is a system

that criminals will never fear.

I mean you are a parent,

to say to your child,

now don that because if you do

here what's gonna happen
and you never follow through,

what do you gonna have? Anarchy.

And, you know, it's interesting

because Paul was living under,

not only living
under Nero and the Romans,

but he was
executed wrongfully. Right.

His execution
was a wrong execution

and in that context his
words stand as inspired of God.

In other words, a lot of
Christians are concerned today,

I think with the
idea of capital punishment

and the Bible gives its--and
because it could be unjust.

Someone, many people
have been proved innocent

by D.N.A testing, years
after they've been arrested,

they've been in
prison for many years

and the test comes through
and here they are innocent.

And so what if they
would have been punished,

they're seen on death row.

And so but here's
an example of someone

who actually was
punished wrongly with death

and there are many
examples of that in the Bible.

And what I find that's
bring great solace to my heart

concerning this is
that as Christians,

as believers we can
leave our case with God.

A God is the ultimate judge
in the courts of this world.

And He's going to
make all wrongs right.

Ultimately He's gonna
make all wrongs right.

So when we look at
that in the context

of Romans Chapter 13, I
think it's really powerful.

In fact let me give
you an illustration of this

that I remember
reading about many years ago.
00:11:18.37\00:11:21.52
There was a man who
was sentenced to death
00:11:21.53\00:11:25.10
for molestation and
murder of young boys.
00:11:25.11\00:11:29.65
He was a child molester
00:11:29.66\00:11:30.88
and he had been
caught several times
00:11:30.89\00:11:33.12
and he was sentenced to death
00:11:33.13\00:11:34.92
and he was sitting on death row
00:11:34.93\00:11:36.31
and there was a
large group of people
00:11:36.32\00:11:37.76
that were fighting
against he's being killed.
00:11:37.77\00:11:40.51
Actually the death
sentence was hanging.
00:11:40.52\00:11:42.94
And there were a large group
00:11:42.95\00:11:43.98
of people fighting against that.
00:11:43.99\00:11:45.03
Meanwhile there was
another group of people,

small group of people who
were going into this prison
00:11:47.27\00:11:50.10
and doing Bible studies.
00:11:50.11\00:11:51.70
And these people happen
to be Seventh-day Adventist

and they began to
study with this man
00:11:54.57\00:11:57.17
and he gave his
heart and time to Jesus
00:11:57.18\00:12:00.10
and actually accepted
the Lord as His Savior
00:12:00.11\00:12:03.17
and ended up having a
complete transformation of heart

and in that
process a change took place

in his
relationship with these people

who are trying to save his life.

He wrote them a
letter and it went public

and asked then to stop
trying to stay his execution.

He was right with the Lord,

God had forgiven him

and he did not want to
live in this world any longer.

He did not want to have to face

that he had done in his past.

to live in that way.

was at piece with God,

and that he was going to
be in the first resurrection,

he was going to see
Jesus and he was good

with the sentence
that have brought to him.

He felt that was a just sentence

and that it was something
that he didn't need to get out

of somehow because he
had committed the crimes.

And I thought that
was remarkable in a sense

that he had peace with
God and at the same time
00:12:51.95\00:12:53.90
he recognize that
this was the recompense

for the crimes he had committed.

Right, he said-- he
said here's the penalties,

let me just go
ahead and pay my dues.

To me that's a
Christian perspective.

When we look at the Bible

there's that aspect of
justice that we recognize.

That's why none of
us, we're all sinners,

that's why none of us can say,

well I am righteous,
I don't deserver this,

I don't deserve that,

all of us are
sinners saved by grace.

None are any
better than anyone else.

None of us deserve
anything but death,

and so we look at this
life and we look at the things

that that
condolence us in this life,

the struggles, the
pains, and hardships, the evil,

we recognize that hey,

its okay because God's
grace is sufficient for me

and I know this
world is not my home

and God has something
better for me in hereafter.

I think that's
what is pointed out

when people are--
when the judgment of God

and this is a
very great topic here,

I mean facing the
judgment of power,

or the judgment of God,

I believe that's
one of the reasons

why the Bible has the

There are those
who will be finally

facing the
judge and determining,

at that moment that every
decision he has made is just,

because when you
give the larger picture,

lets talk about
the death sentence,

truly there are
those who're going to die

as a result of their sin
and not accepting Christ.

And the Bible talks about that,

that number which is
as the sands of the seas.

There're many
that are gonna to die.

Many are gonna
be-- Many have died

Many have died, but in the
sense of the judgment. Yes.

Final judgment to second death,

many will die but before that,

they will all confess

that had been hidden

the mystery of an equity

the gospel that had been hidden

We read in the Book of Daniel

about the three Hebrew worthies,

And the reason
why they chose not

to bow on the plane of Dura,

its not because all of
a sudden they realized,

wait a minute, we shouldn't
bow to images or wait a minute,

we shouldn't
worship any other gods

other than the God of heaven.

These are truths that they knew
before they were in captivity.

Okay. But now in the
hour of trial had come,

it did not manifest a new truth,

it simply brought
accountability to that truth.

at that very critical
hour to embrace these truths,

have meant certain death

and we know the
story of the fiery furnace,

yet these messages were true
before they were in Babylon.

these three messages,

Babylon is once again
included in one of the messages

and it's amazing that
there are three warnings

that are talked

Babylon,
physically or literally,

the Babylon in the Middle East

of that day, this is now a
message to the whole world.

The team intensifies,
the struggle intensifies,

minutes of basketball

and we're living in

the conflict has intensified,

right now between good and evil,

everlasting gospel and Babylon.

seeing here in Revelation 14,

we're seeing a
contrast between two forces,

two elements, two
armies if you will,

we're seeing the
everlasting gospel on one side

and we're seeing
Babylon on the other side.

And what's interesting is,

just like you're watching a game

and you can look at that game

and you can make a
prediction about what you think

is gonna come out of that game,

even though you are in
the last couple of minutes,

the same with the Bible.

The Bible makes it

some startling revelations

place in the last minute

but in the contexts

it is very clear
who's going to win.

confusion about God,
confusion about salvation,

the truth of the Bible,

but I am telling you right
now, Babylon is going to fall.

I am not saying that,
John's not saying that,

the gospel is proclaiming that.

Revelation Chapter 14 verse
6 is therefore very good news,

Babylon is going to fall

and that's what
the word gospel means.

It means good news,
it means glad tidings
00:36:34.91\00:36:37.25
and this phrase is
unique, because it reminds us

as John alluded to that
this gospel is everlasting.

There is a message of
good news for all of the world,

and that message is a message
of God's love to every nation,

kindred, tongue and people.

It is a good news
of what Jesus Christ

has accomplished
for the entire world

and it is something
that was accomplished

at Calvary for everyone,
post Calvary and pre Calvary,

that why its called the
everlasting gospel, John.

This phrase is not
found anywhere else

because this phrase informs us

about the nature of this gospel.

This is not a New
Testament message. No, no.

This is a New Testament
and an Old Testament message,

it's the everlasting gospel.

anyone has ever been saved

Everyone is
centering on the lamb of God

and that is the good news.

That is why it's called
the everlasting good news

or brings down this confusion

where people are also focused,

In our world today there
is a focus that is existing

now that has not
existed for a long time.

The post 911 world, the
post modernistic society,

the immoral society,
there are so many things

that are been thrown
out, the people are wondering

what is the future of our world?

Even in the
church and I want to just

include us in
the controversy here

that's is in even
every Christian church

has a controversy,
but then you have now

amongst some of the
moments of Christianity,

you have the
spiritual formation controversy,

then you have the
women's ordination controversy,

then you have the all
there are some churches

and some
movements that are pushing
00:38:54.29\00:38:55.48
for a gay and
lesbian priest and bishops
00:38:55.49\00:38:59.42
and it seems there's so much
00:38:59.43\00:39:01.26
that's involved
in the controversy.

This message is kind
of a message by the Lord,

he says okay hold it, hold it,

let's get back to
the issue at hand. Okay.

happening in Babylon,

when that moment of trial came

the Judgment Hour Message.

why is the Judgment Hour Message

is so vitally
important for today?

Well there's three
reasons I feel that are,

you know, paramount for us
in understanding the judgment.

The Bible teaches
us first and foremost

in Romans Chapter
14 that none of us

should judge somebody else
that we're all going to stand
00:40:18.17\00:40:21.07
before the
judgment seat of Christ.

So part of the good news
of judgment hour is the fact

that God has a judgment,
00:40:26.52\00:40:28.25
He has a final say
in all of the decisions

and all of the
injustices, in all of the evil

and the good that is taking
place in this earth right now.

And sometimes we
take it upon ourselves

to bring vengeance and to
judge and to criticize others.

And God says,
no, you off the hook,

don't judge one another anymore,
00:40:44.38\00:40:46.46
because they are
all going to stand
00:40:46.47\00:40:47.69
before the
judgment seat of Christ.

I think this is
vital for us to understand.

I meet people all the time,

we don't want anything
to do with judgment idea,

they don't want any
connection with an idea of God

would bring anyone
into account Christian,

non Christian, whatever.

And I think that is the
saddest situation to be in,

because we can
trust the heart of God.

We can trust His judgment
and we need His judgment.

We need his
justice, so what this message

does is it calls us to recognize

that God is going to bring
us to an account. That's right.

has ever happened

in this earth
whether it's good or evil,

it's gonna
brought to an account.

And we told about

God's gonna bring everything

whether it's good or evil.

of this judgment is

us to put our trust in one

touch on the few of the verses

Judgment Hour Message,

the issue is worship.

In the Hebrews, in
the lives of Shadrack,

Meshach, and Abednego,

which in fact those
are their Babylonian names,

Hanania, Mishael and
Azaria, were their Hebrew names.

At that very hour
the issue was worship.

Now one thing you
have to come to conclusion.

The issue in the last days

is going to be over
at the topic of worship.

Everyone worship something.

the judgment begins

this in the context of it,

father judge is nothing

all judgment to his son.

So who's going to be
judged and for what reason?

righteous one scarcely say,

who do not obey the gospel.
