Is it right for a Judge of the Law 00:02:45.35\00:02:47.91 to sentence someone to death? 00:02:47.92\00:02:49.26 Wow. It pretty intense question. 00:02:49.27\00:02:51.53 The first place I think of in relation to this question 00:02:51.54\00:02:54.32 is Romans Chapter 13. 00:02:54.33\00:02:56.23 Okay. Romans Chapter 13 00:02:56.24\00:02:58.10 and we can just start there with verse 1. 00:02:58.11\00:03:01.27 Romans 13, beginning with verse 1. 00:03:01.28\00:03:04.30 And we'll read a few verses here 00:03:04.31\00:03:05.57 just to get the picture that Paul is giving us. 00:03:05.58\00:03:08.97 I want us to remember that when Paul is writing this, 00:03:08.98\00:03:11.96 Paul is living under the rulership of Roman Empire. 00:03:11.97\00:03:17.66 That's right. And specifically Nero, 00:03:17.67\00:03:19.45 which ends up being the death of Paul. 00:03:19.46\00:03:23.11 Paul is actually killed under Nero, he is beheaded under Nero 00:03:23.12\00:03:25.88 for being a Christian, he's martyred. 00:03:25.89\00:03:27.80 So with that context, with that historical background, 00:03:27.81\00:03:30.16 I want us to listen to what Paul says here, 00:03:30.17\00:03:32.79 "Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers. 00:03:32.80\00:03:35.34 For there is no power but of God, 00:03:35.35\00:03:37.40 the powers that be are ordained of God. 00:03:37.41\00:03:40.24 Whoever therefore resist the power, 00:03:40.25\00:03:42.89 resist the ordinance of God. 00:03:42.90\00:03:45.44 And they that resist 00:03:45.45\00:03:46.45 shall receive to themselves damnation. 00:03:46.46\00:03:48.91 For rulers are not a terror to good works, but to the evil. 00:03:48.92\00:03:53.13 Wilt thou then not be afraid of the power? 00:03:53.14\00:03:57.03 Do that which is good, 00:03:57.04\00:03:58.33 and you will have praise of the same. 00:03:58.34\00:04:00.76 For he is the minister of God to thee for good. 00:04:00.77\00:04:04.90 But if you do that which is evil, be afraid. 00:04:04.91\00:04:07.63 For he bears not the sword in vain. 00:04:07.64\00:04:09.46 For he is the minister of God, 00:04:09.47\00:04:10.88 a revenger to execute wrath upon him that does evil. 00:04:10.89\00:04:15.67 Therefore you must needs be subject, 00:04:15.68\00:04:17.55 not only for wrath, but also for conscience sake." 00:04:17.56\00:04:20.30 And then he goes on to say, 00:04:20.31\00:04:21.64 "Pay tribute to those also for their God's ministers, 00:04:21.65\00:04:24.90 so pay taxes render onto Caesar, 00:04:24.91\00:04:27.65 the things that are Caesar basically verses 6 and 7. 00:04:27.66\00:04:30.70 So basically what we're seeing here 00:04:30.71\00:04:32.82 is that there is a civil power which is in Paul's time, 00:04:32.83\00:04:37.28 the Roman power not the Jewish power 00:04:37.29\00:04:39.55 and then there is this religious experiences, 00:04:39.56\00:04:42.17 religious power that we have, 00:04:42.18\00:04:43.51 this religious authority that we have, 00:04:43.52\00:04:45.06 Jesus talks about this in Mathew Chapter 5 00:04:45.07\00:04:48.53 and he clarifies the difference between 00:04:48.54\00:04:51.23 the religious authority, 00:04:51.24\00:04:52.23 the religious powers and the civil powers. 00:04:52.24\00:04:54.47 Religious authority has its domain 00:04:54.48\00:04:56.91 in our hearts and in our minds. 00:04:56.92\00:04:58.62 We're to turn the other cheek word to go the extra mile, 00:04:58.63\00:05:01.55 would have forgive those who hurt us. 00:05:01.56\00:05:03.30 The civil power takes us one step further than that. 00:05:03.31\00:05:06.49 The civil power is based on an eye for an eye 00:05:06.50\00:05:08.47 and a tooth for a tooth. 00:05:08.48\00:05:09.84 And when Jesus came in Mathew 5 00:05:09.85\00:05:11.86 and said you've heard that they've said an eye for an eye 00:05:11.87\00:05:13.99 and a tooth for a tooth, but I stay unto you. 00:05:14.00\00:05:16.15 He wasn't doing away with the civil power. 00:05:16.16\00:05:18.51 He wasn't abolishing the civil power. 00:05:18.52\00:05:20.40 He was putting it in its proper place. 00:05:20.41\00:05:22.59 The Jews were no longer under the theocracy. 00:05:22.60\00:05:25.40 They no longer had civil jurisdiction 00:05:25.41\00:05:27.75 and so now individual Jews were not to treat their enemies 00:05:27.76\00:05:31.88 according to the civil power, 00:05:31.89\00:05:33.51 according to the civil principles, 00:05:33.52\00:05:34.80 these civil laws, they were to treat them 00:05:34.81\00:05:37.45 according to the gospel, 00:05:37.46\00:05:38.84 according to the principles of God's heart. 00:05:38.85\00:05:41.79 But that did not do away with the civil authority, 00:05:41.80\00:05:44.37 so if you murder someone, 00:05:44.38\00:05:46.75 you're gonna be taken to jail 00:05:46.76\00:05:47.78 and you're gonna be sentenced accordingly 00:05:47.79\00:05:49.43 according to the laws of the land 00:05:49.44\00:05:51.14 and these civil powers are ordained of God. 00:05:51.15\00:05:54.31 That's right. And we're to submit these civil powers, 00:05:54.32\00:05:56.09 so Jesus isn't doing away with civil laws, 00:05:56.10\00:05:58.32 He's enhancing them, He's telling us 00:05:58.33\00:06:00.07 here is the civil power 00:06:00.08\00:06:01.32 and here's how you've to submit to the civil power 00:06:01.33\00:06:03.13 and then here's how I want you 00:06:03.14\00:06:04.57 as individuals to treat someone. 00:06:04.58\00:06:06.00 For example, let just say someone breaks into my home 00:06:06.01\00:06:10.47 and you know, does commit some kind of murder, 00:06:10.48\00:06:14.73 takes-murders my wife 00:06:14.74\00:06:16.21 or does something terrible to my children 00:06:16.22\00:06:19.39 and of course the police come, 00:06:19.40\00:06:20.86 they find him, they arrest them, 00:06:20.87\00:06:22.32 they take them to jail and these judge 00:06:22.33\00:06:26.90 and the court sentences that person 00:06:26.91\00:06:28.99 life imprisonment or even execution. 00:06:29.00\00:06:30.97 Right. What is my responsibility? 00:06:30.98\00:06:33.71 What is my place as an individual? 00:06:33.72\00:06:36.34 First of all my first responsibility 00:06:36.35\00:06:39.10 is to submit to the powers, that be in another words, 00:06:39.11\00:06:41.48 I don't try to fight the decision of the court. 00:06:41.49\00:06:45.21 Right. But at the same time, 00:06:45.22\00:06:47.20 God is calling me to forgive that person as individual. 00:06:47.21\00:06:50.32 God is calling me to exercise grace, 00:06:50.33\00:06:52.10 which will be very difficult for me to do, 00:06:52.11\00:06:53.45 but by the grace of God we can do that. Yes. 00:06:53.46\00:06:55.53 So there is the distinction between the two. 00:06:55.54\00:06:58.26 That's what I see in anyway in Roman 13, 00:06:58.27\00:07:00.37 in Mathew Chapter 5, 00:07:00.38\00:07:01.37 I see that clear distinction between the civil authorities 00:07:01.38\00:07:04.36 and our personal responsibility as ambassadors for God. 00:07:04.37\00:07:08.07 Right and some times people have a difficult time, 00:07:08.08\00:07:10.25 I know in our country there are some states 00:07:10.26\00:07:12.52 that favor capital punishment and others that don't. 00:07:12.53\00:07:16.92 Some speak of the inhumanity of the process, 00:07:16.93\00:07:22.22 I can't remember one last person has been executed 00:07:22.23\00:07:24.80 by electric chair, but may be there's one of the states 00:07:24.81\00:07:28.22 that still use that as a means of executing of the offender. 00:07:28.23\00:07:32.59 Some by the lethal injection 00:07:32.60\00:07:35.95 but whenever this comes up you know, 00:07:35.96\00:07:37.84 there're always those who protest 00:07:37.85\00:07:39.20 and those who say this is inhuman, 00:07:39.21\00:07:41.70 but not that these things are the best method 00:07:41.71\00:07:49.08 to use to deal with an offender. 00:07:49.09\00:07:51.63 Sometimes I think life imprisonment is more torture 00:07:51.64\00:07:56.63 than just ending a person's miserable life, 00:07:56.64\00:07:59.25 because they have time to think about what they had done. 00:07:59.26\00:08:01.79 They have time to think about the offence, 00:08:01.80\00:08:04.41 but an answer to the question, 00:08:04.42\00:08:08.45 James uses these points, 00:08:08.46\00:08:13.02 here in James Chapter 2, using the context, 00:08:13.03\00:08:16.65 it's speaking about the commandments of God, 00:08:16.66\00:08:18.39 but I like the way it brings it out in verse 12. 00:08:18.40\00:08:21.53 It says, "So speak and so do as those 00:08:21.54\00:08:24.94 who will be judged by the law of liberty." Okay. 00:08:24.95\00:08:28.13 So there are laws in place and many of the laws 00:08:28.14\00:08:30.51 that are existing in our land, in our country are laws 00:08:30.52\00:08:33.72 you'll see that are patterned after the principles 00:08:33.73\00:08:36.14 and sometimes directly from some of the laws of God. 00:08:36.15\00:08:39.28 That's why, you know 00:08:39.29\00:08:40.32 this clarion call we are Christian nation. 00:08:40.33\00:08:42.62 You know, we are our system 00:08:42.63\00:08:44.46 is formed after the Judaic form 00:08:44.47\00:08:52.15 of a government or of a religion. 00:08:52.16\00:08:55.19 But in every society there are laws, 00:08:55.20\00:08:58.77 in every system there are laws 00:08:58.78\00:09:01.39 and I think the best thing to do 00:09:01.40\00:09:03.49 is if you are not wanting to be judge by those laws, 00:09:03.50\00:09:06.84 then live in harmony with those laws. 00:09:06.85\00:09:09.84 I think you made a point a moment ago 00:09:09.85\00:09:11.24 that if something happen to your family. 00:09:11.25\00:09:13.15 Lot of the crimes that are committed are committed, 00:09:16.28\00:09:18.71 we call them heinous crimes, really have no reason for. 00:09:18.72\00:09:22.43 Why would somebody take another person's life 00:09:22.44\00:09:25.68 without defending themselves? 00:09:25.69\00:09:27.31 Why would somebody walk into a store 00:09:27.32\00:09:29.79 and just rob the store and kill the clerk? 00:09:29.80\00:09:32.96 So it's important that these laws be in place 00:09:32.97\00:09:35.47 to hold the rains and I think 00:09:35.48\00:09:38.92 that's what God intended when He established 00:09:38.93\00:09:40.88 these principles in the Old Testament. 00:09:40.89\00:09:43.25 If you do this, here's a result. 00:09:43.26\00:09:45.84 If you do this, here's a result. 00:09:45.85\00:09:47.97 So a system without laws and penalties is a system 00:09:47.98\00:09:51.10 that criminals will never fear. 00:09:51.11\00:09:53.40 And in the same way, I mean you are a parent, 00:09:53.41\00:09:56.11 if you continue to say to your child, 00:09:56.12\00:09:59.17 now don that because if you do 00:09:59.18\00:10:00.64 here what's gonna happen and you never follow through, 00:10:00.65\00:10:03.23 what do you gonna have? Anarchy. 00:10:03.24\00:10:05.73 And, you know, it's interesting 00:10:05.74\00:10:06.77 because Paul was living under, 00:10:06.78\00:10:08.44 not only living under Nero and the Romans, 00:10:08.45\00:10:10.54 but he was executed wrongfully. Right. 00:10:10.55\00:10:13.25 His execution was a wrong execution 00:10:13.26\00:10:14.92 and in that context his words stand as inspired of God. 00:10:14.93\00:10:20.51 In other words, a lot of Christians are concerned today, 00:10:20.52\00:10:23.23 I think with the idea of capital punishment 00:10:23.24\00:10:26.90 and the Bible gives its--and because it could be unjust. 00:10:26.91\00:10:31.16 Someone, many people have been proved innocent 00:10:31.17\00:10:33.68 by D.N.A testing, years after they've been arrested, 00:10:33.69\00:10:37.58 they've been in prison for many years 00:10:37.59\00:10:39.35 and the test comes through and here they are innocent. 00:10:39.36\00:10:41.83 And so what if they would have been punished, 00:10:41.84\00:10:43.54 they're seen on death row. 00:10:43.55\00:10:44.64 And so but here's an example of someone 00:10:44.65\00:10:46.69 who actually was punished wrongly with death 00:10:46.70\00:10:51.06 and there are many examples of that in the Bible. 00:10:51.07\00:10:53.34 And what I find that's bring great solace to my heart 00:10:53.35\00:10:56.90 concerning this is that as Christians, 00:10:56.91\00:10:59.39 as believers we can leave our case with God. 00:10:59.40\00:11:02.87 A God is the ultimate judge in the courts of this world. 00:11:02.88\00:11:07.15 And He's going to make all wrongs right. 00:11:07.16\00:11:09.96 Ultimately He's gonna make all wrongs right. 00:11:09.97\00:11:12.20 So when we look at that in the context 00:11:12.21\00:11:13.89 of Romans Chapter 13, I think it's really powerful. 00:11:13.90\00:11:16.68 In fact let me give you an illustration of this 00:11:16.69\00:11:18.36 that I remember reading about many years ago. 00:11:18.37\00:11:21.52 There was a man who was sentenced to death 00:11:21.53\00:11:25.10 for molestation and murder of young boys. 00:11:25.11\00:11:29.65 He was a child molester 00:11:29.66\00:11:30.88 and he had been caught several times 00:11:30.89\00:11:33.12 and he was sentenced to death 00:11:33.13\00:11:34.92 and he was sitting on death row 00:11:34.93\00:11:36.31 and there was a large group of people 00:11:36.32\00:11:37.76 that were fighting against he's being killed. 00:11:37.77\00:11:40.51 Actually the death sentence was hanging. 00:11:40.52\00:11:42.94 And there were a large group 00:11:42.95\00:11:43.98 of people fighting against that. 00:11:43.99\00:11:45.03 Meanwhile there was another group of people, 00:11:45.04\00:11:47.26 small group of people who were going into this prison 00:11:47.27\00:11:50.10 and doing Bible studies. 00:11:50.11\00:11:51.70 And these people happen to be Seventh-day Adventist 00:11:51.71\00:11:54.56 and they began to study with this man 00:11:54.57\00:11:57.17 and he gave his heart and time to Jesus 00:11:57.18\00:12:00.10 and actually accepted the Lord as His Savior 00:12:00.11\00:12:03.17 and ended up having a complete transformation of heart 00:12:03.18\00:12:06.78 and in that process a change took place 00:12:06.79\00:12:10.36 in his relationship with these people 00:12:10.37\00:12:11.77 who are trying to save his life. 00:12:11.78\00:12:13.48 He wrote them a letter and it went public 00:12:13.49\00:12:15.83 and asked then to stop trying to stay his execution. 00:12:15.84\00:12:20.60 He was right with the Lord, 00:12:20.61\00:12:21.98 God had forgiven him 00:12:21.99\00:12:23.65 and he did not want to live in this world any longer. 00:12:23.66\00:12:26.91 He did not want to have to face 00:12:26.92\00:12:29.17 or be tempted with anything 00:12:29.18\00:12:30.71 that he had done in his past. 00:12:30.72\00:12:31.93 He didn't want to live in that way. 00:12:31.94\00:12:33.33 He felt like he was at piece with God, 00:12:33.34\00:12:35.41 and that he was going to be in the first resurrection, 00:12:35.42\00:12:37.63 he was going to see Jesus and he was good 00:12:37.64\00:12:40.95 with the sentence that have brought to him. 00:12:40.96\00:12:42.16 He felt that was a just sentence 00:12:42.17\00:12:43.74 and that it was something that he didn't need to get out 00:12:43.75\00:12:45.84 of somehow because he had committed the crimes. 00:12:45.85\00:12:49.29 And I thought that was remarkable in a sense 00:12:49.30\00:12:51.94 that he had peace with God and at the same time 00:12:51.95\00:12:53.90 he recognize that this was the recompense 00:12:53.91\00:12:57.12 for the crimes he had committed. 00:12:57.13\00:12:58.43 Right, he said-- he said here's the penalties, 00:12:58.44\00:13:01.82 let me just go ahead and pay my dues. 00:13:01.83\00:13:03.39 To me that's a Christian perspective. 00:13:03.40\00:13:05.47 When we look at the Bible 00:13:05.48\00:13:07.20 there's that aspect of justice that we recognize. 00:13:07.21\00:13:12.16 That's why none of us, we're all sinners, 00:13:12.17\00:13:13.93 that's why none of us can say, 00:13:13.94\00:13:14.98 well I am righteous, I don't deserver this, 00:13:14.99\00:13:16.36 I don't deserve that, 00:13:16.37\00:13:17.68 all of us are sinners saved by grace. 00:13:17.69\00:13:20.59 None are any better than anyone else. 00:13:20.60\00:13:22.13 None of us deserve anything but death, 00:13:22.14\00:13:24.04 and so we look at this life and we look at the things 00:13:24.05\00:13:26.14 that that condolence us in this life, 00:13:26.15\00:13:27.45 the struggles, the pains, and hardships, the evil, 00:13:27.46\00:13:31.39 we recognize that hey, 00:13:31.40\00:13:32.91 its okay because God's grace is sufficient for me 00:13:32.92\00:13:35.32 and I know this world is not my home 00:13:35.33\00:13:36.72 and God has something better for me in hereafter. 00:13:36.73\00:13:40.50 I think that's what is pointed out 00:13:40.51\00:13:42.86 when people are-- when the judgment of God 00:13:42.87\00:13:45.81 and this is a very great topic here, 00:13:45.82\00:13:47.19 I mean facing the judgment of power, 00:13:47.20\00:13:49.15 or the judgment of God, 00:13:49.16\00:13:50.51 I believe that's one of the reasons 00:13:50.52\00:13:51.69 why the Bible has the verse in Romans 14 verse 11, 00:13:51.70\00:13:55.02 There are those who will be finally 00:13:55.03\00:13:56.84 facing the judge and determining, 00:13:56.85\00:14:01.14 at that moment that every decision he has made is just, 00:14:01.15\00:14:04.84 because when you give the larger picture, 00:14:04.85\00:14:06.53 lets talk about the death sentence, 00:14:06.54\00:14:08.44 truly there are those who're going to die 00:14:08.45\00:14:10.06 as a result of their sin and not accepting Christ. 00:14:10.07\00:14:13.31 And the Bible talks about that, 00:14:13.32\00:14:14.54 that number which is as the sands of the seas. 00:14:14.55\00:14:18.04 There're many that are gonna to die. 00:14:18.05\00:14:19.53 Many are gonna be-- Many have died 00:14:19.54\00:14:21.91 Many have died, but in the sense of the judgment. Yes. 00:14:21.92\00:14:26.15 Final judgment to second death, 00:14:26.16\00:14:27.48 many will die but before that, 00:14:27.49\00:14:29.41 they will all confess that Jesus Christ is Lord. 00:14:29.42\00:14:33.27 They will all confess that He has been just and truth, 00:14:33.28\00:14:35.78 every decision he has made, 00:14:35.79\00:14:37.29 and so I think that when you said the Christian perspective. 00:14:37.30\00:14:39.40 Yes. Finally there are those who will say, 00:14:39.41\00:14:41.34 well I've come to grips with my crime 00:14:41.35\00:14:43.87 and the decision that has been made is an equitable decision 00:14:43.88\00:14:46.55 and I'll go ahead and pay for my crime. 00:14:46.56\00:14:49.16 And I don't want to be in heaven, 00:14:49.17\00:14:50.76 I am not ready to be in heaven. 00:14:50.77\00:14:52.17 That's not a place where I would be happy. Right. 00:14:52.18\00:14:54.57 And that's true, I didn't even think about that in context. 00:14:54.58\00:14:57.33 That's Philippians Chapter 2, 00:14:57.34\00:14:58.57 "Every knee shall bow and every tongue shall confess" 00:14:58.58\00:15:00.73 Philippians and also Romans 14 and Isaiah 45:23. 00:15:00.74\00:15:04.80 And Revelation 20, there's no place for them. 00:15:04.81\00:15:07.76 Right, no place is found for them 00:15:07.77\00:15:09.78 and why would you want to put somebody 00:15:09.79\00:15:11.01 who doesn't live for that kind of life. 00:15:11.02\00:15:13.49 Heaven would be torture. Yes. 00:15:13.50\00:15:15.47 It will be worse than a death sentence. 00:15:15.48\00:15:17.52 I don't want to be here, this doesn't fit my life. 00:15:17.53\00:15:20.34 So it sound like, yes, it sounds like 00:15:20.35\00:15:21.44 I ought to say, I'll replace you. 00:15:21.45\00:15:22.70 They are saying hey, I am looking around here, 00:15:22.71\00:15:24.49 there's no place that I want to feel comfortable in the city. 00:15:24.50\00:15:28.16 That's right, that's right. 00:15:28.17\00:15:29.22 Thank you James, that was very good, 00:15:29.23\00:15:30.62 very good approach here. 00:15:30.63\00:15:31.92 We have a question here, 00:15:31.93\00:15:33.58 and where is that question? Okay here it is. 00:15:33.59\00:15:36.43 That one was hiding behind the other one, okay. 00:15:39.59\00:15:42.35 Stop hiding my question, okay here we go. 00:15:42.36\00:15:45.45 Greetings in the name of our Lord, Jesus Christ. 00:15:45.46\00:15:49.75 My name is Charles and I won't mention 00:15:49.76\00:15:51.55 the last name for an anonymity purposes. 00:15:51.56\00:15:54.59 I am a Bible study leader, living in Cote d'Ivoire, 00:15:54.60\00:16:00.51 wow that sounds like a French place. 00:16:00.52\00:16:04.01 And a regular viewer of your programs. 00:16:04.02\00:16:06.24 Oh, spells it like the Europeans 'mmes' on 3ABN T.V. 00:16:06.25\00:16:10.98 Would you please answer these questions 00:16:10.99\00:16:12.62 with some scriptural backing? 00:16:12.63\00:16:14.99 What happens to the souls after death? 00:16:15.00\00:16:18.14 That's the first part. 00:16:18.15\00:16:19.44 Have some souls already been judged 00:16:19.45\00:16:21.75 and sent to hell or heaven? 00:16:21.76\00:16:23.61 That's the second one. Okay. 00:16:23.62\00:16:25.07 Okay, so we're gonna have some fun with this one here. 00:16:25.08\00:16:27.69 Okay, first of all, 00:16:27.70\00:16:28.76 what happens to the souls after death? 00:16:28.77\00:16:31.73 We talked about this in one of our former programs. 00:16:31.74\00:16:33.71 We did. But it's good to review these. 00:16:33.72\00:16:37.88 I want to begin with the text 00:16:37.89\00:16:38.91 that does not directly answer the question first of all, 00:16:38.92\00:16:42.21 but let's go to Revelation Chapter 22, 00:16:42.22\00:16:45.03 a text that doesn't directly answers 00:16:45.04\00:16:47.20 what happens to the souls after death, 00:16:47.21\00:16:49.14 but this text answers what happens to everyone. 00:16:49.15\00:16:52.70 And what the Bible points out 00:16:52.71\00:16:54.87 is we don't have a soul, we are a soul. 00:16:54.88\00:16:58.46 That really vitally important, 00:16:58.47\00:16:59.98 because what happens to the soul 00:16:59.99\00:17:01.51 after death is insignificant in the sense 00:17:01.52\00:17:06.14 that there's nothing that survives death. 00:17:06.15\00:17:09.26 There's no--okay my soul, what does he go now, 00:17:09.27\00:17:11.97 the body is dead, where does it go now. 00:17:11.98\00:17:14.14 There's no--I'm waiting for my destination type of thing. 00:17:14.15\00:17:17.98 But let's first look at the reward aspect 00:17:17.99\00:17:20.06 because the question lends itself 00:17:20.07\00:17:22.56 to what is the reward, heaven or hell. 00:17:22.57\00:17:25.74 Revelation 22, here I'm in verse 12 00:17:25.75\00:17:31.61 and Jesus says, "And, behold, I'm coming quickly, 00:17:31.62\00:17:35.46 or I come quickly and my reward is with me, 00:17:35.47\00:17:38.24 to give to everyone according to his work, 00:17:38.25\00:17:41.37 according as his work shall be." 00:17:41.38\00:17:43.45 So if you look at Revelation 22 verse 12, 00:17:43.46\00:17:46.17 you begin to see that when the Lord comes back 00:17:46.18\00:17:48.09 behold I come quickly and my reward is with me. 00:17:48.10\00:17:51.06 So whatever the destiny of that person heaven or hell, 00:17:51.07\00:17:54.39 it is going to be meted out when the Lord returns. 00:17:54.40\00:17:56.81 Behold, I come and my reward is with me. 00:17:56.82\00:18:00.08 Rewards are not given out at the time of death. 00:18:00.09\00:18:02.72 Unfortunately many people believe that okay, 00:18:02.73\00:18:04.96 that person is an evil individual, 00:18:04.97\00:18:06.82 well I am so glad and-- Let me tell you the story, 00:18:06.83\00:18:09.32 this is really-- this is a true account, 00:18:09.33\00:18:12.63 I've read this story about a man 00:18:12.64\00:18:14.95 whose wife was killed by a women 00:18:14.96\00:18:17.72 who had a vengeful spirit against his wife. 00:18:17.73\00:18:21.98 She killed this man's wife, got caught, 00:18:21.99\00:18:25.82 she was in court and evidently this person believed 00:18:25.83\00:18:30.07 that when the person dies they immediately go to heaven. 00:18:30.08\00:18:34.42 So the sentence was, this lady was sentenced to die 00:18:34.43\00:18:38.42 and the husband, when he was given the opportunity 00:18:38.43\00:18:40.59 to say one last thing in the court, 00:18:40.60\00:18:42.89 he said to the court, "I can't wait till 00:18:42.90\00:18:46.11 she dies so she can go to heaven and my wife 00:18:46.12\00:18:49.42 will settle the score, when she meets her" 00:18:49.43\00:18:53.64 Oh dear. And I'm thinking, 00:18:53.65\00:18:56.10 okay, that's the reason 00:18:56.11\00:18:57.74 why this topic-- that's the reason 00:18:57.75\00:18:59.50 why this idea of dying and going to heaven-- 00:18:59.51\00:19:00.93 It's so confusing. It's so confusing. 00:19:00.94\00:19:03.78 If you're in heaven, you not there as-- 00:19:03.79\00:19:05.53 if that was a case, you not gonna be up there to settle-- 00:19:05.54\00:19:08.58 And if you're killing people and wanted to kill people 00:19:08.59\00:19:10.31 you're not going to heaven. 00:19:10.32\00:19:11.32 Yeah, I couldn't wait for you 00:19:11.33\00:19:12.65 to get here so I can kill you, daa! 00:19:12.66\00:19:15.20 Because it says right here in the following verse 15, 00:19:15.21\00:19:18.24 "Without outside are dogs and sorcerers 00:19:18.25\00:19:21.19 and whoremongers, and murderers." 00:19:21.20\00:19:23.08 Murderers are outside, they're not inside. 00:19:23.09\00:19:25.06 Right, so you not gonna wait for people 00:19:25.07\00:19:26.75 to get to heaven or hell and settle scores. 00:19:26.76\00:19:28.65 If at all you make it, you will be completely 00:19:28.66\00:19:30.76 transformed by the grace and the power of Christ 00:19:30.77\00:19:33.52 completely in his righteousness. 00:19:33.53\00:19:35.48 So there is nothing that's gonna happen. 00:19:35.49\00:19:36.98 But let's go and find out, 00:19:36.99\00:19:38.30 since we've laid the foundation that there is not such thing 00:19:38.31\00:19:40.37 as a body separate from the soul. 00:19:40.38\00:19:43.12 But the soul is the combination of breath, 00:19:43.13\00:19:46.36 the breath of God and the formation of body 00:19:46.37\00:19:49.15 of the dust of the ground. 00:19:49.16\00:19:50.38 When they come together as God did in creation, 00:19:50.39\00:19:53.77 they form the living soul. 00:19:53.78\00:19:55.75 And he wants scripture verses, 00:19:55.76\00:19:56.98 so we better give him the verses there. 00:19:56.99\00:19:59.62 You do that one in Genesis and I go to John. 00:19:59.63\00:20:01.55 Yes, Genesis Chapter 2 and verse 7, 00:20:01.56\00:20:06.09 "The Lord God formed man from the dust of the ground 00:20:06.10\00:20:09.78 and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, 00:20:09.79\00:20:12.04 and the man became a living soul." We illustrated this. 00:20:12.05\00:20:14.78 You have the dust plus the breath equaling the soul, 00:20:14.79\00:20:18.13 and you have a light and the electricity, 00:20:18.14\00:20:22.21 and they come together the light bulb, 00:20:22.22\00:20:23.85 the electricity and they make light. 00:20:23.86\00:20:26.22 The soul is like the light. 00:20:26.23\00:20:27.95 The bulb, the fixture is like the dust and the electricity, 00:20:27.96\00:20:32.04 the power is like the breath. 00:20:32.05\00:20:33.66 And when you bring the power, 00:20:33.67\00:20:35.40 the electricity and you bring the fixture 00:20:35.41\00:20:37.04 with the bulb together they form light, 00:20:37.05\00:20:39.62 but when you separate them, 00:20:39.63\00:20:40.75 when you pull that light itself, 00:20:40.76\00:20:42.85 the lamp and the bulb away 00:20:42.86\00:20:44.06 from the power source the light ceases. 00:20:44.07\00:20:45.91 It doesn't go anywhere, its no longer existing. 00:20:45.92\00:20:48.66 And that's the way we see the soul 00:20:48.67\00:20:50.99 in Genesis Chapter 2 verse 7. 00:20:51.00\00:20:53.12 The way the God created us. 00:20:53.13\00:20:54.55 He created us, so these two elements come together 00:20:54.56\00:20:56.94 and that becomes a living soul, 00:20:56.95\00:20:58.50 when they're separated the soul ceases to exist. 00:20:58.51\00:21:00.95 That's right. As a matter of fact, 00:21:00.96\00:21:03.02 a lot of people think that souls don't die. 00:21:03.03\00:21:04.76 I want you to read Psalm 78 verse 50. 00:21:04.77\00:21:07.97 Psalm 78 verse 50, you know a lot of times 00:21:07.98\00:21:10.21 we use text that are just directly related 00:21:10.22\00:21:12.30 to what happens when a person dies, 00:21:12.31\00:21:13.89 and people don't think that the soul can die, 00:21:13.90\00:21:15.73 but if you look at Psalm 78 verse 50, 00:21:15.74\00:21:17.59 here it says, "He made a path for his anger, 00:21:17.60\00:21:25.02 he did not spare their soul from death." 00:21:25.03\00:21:30.00 So the soul, if you were to take the idea 00:21:30.01\00:21:33.21 that the soul is separate from the body, the soul dies. 00:21:33.22\00:21:36.53 Ezekiel 18:4, "The soul that has sinneth, it shall die." 00:21:36.54\00:21:39.82 And so you see here the soul doesn't survive death, 00:21:39.83\00:21:42.55 but the real context of the soul is living individual. 00:21:42.56\00:21:47.98 Breath plus body but what happens when that person dies? 00:21:47.99\00:21:51.76 Well, John, let me just one another thought here. Sure. 00:21:51.77\00:21:54.17 Well then where did the idea come 00:21:54.18\00:21:55.62 from that the soul doesn't die? 00:21:55.63\00:21:58.12 Where is that teaching come from? 00:21:58.13\00:21:59.50 Well, it comes right from the devil. 00:21:59.51\00:22:02.38 Genesis 3 and verse 4, 00:22:02.39\00:22:04.98 the devil introduces his doctrine of the non dying soul 00:22:04.99\00:22:08.91 or the immortality of the soul. That's right. 00:22:08.92\00:22:11.46 He says here to the woman, 00:22:11.47\00:22:13.03 the serpent said unto the woman, 00:22:13.04\00:22:14.50 "You shall not surely die." 00:22:14.51\00:22:17.22 And that's where we have the conflict between 00:22:17.23\00:22:19.34 the teachings of the devil and the false doctrines 00:22:19.35\00:22:22.37 and the teachings of the Bible and the truth of the gospel. 00:22:22.38\00:22:24.75 That's right. Satan introduced that and it seems like 00:22:24.76\00:22:27.32 he's gotten over larger following. He does. 00:22:27.33\00:22:30.51 Even still today people are fearful 00:22:30.52\00:22:33.58 that somehow souls are roaming the earth. 00:22:33.59\00:22:39.33 Matter of fact many cultures, 00:22:39.34\00:22:41.33 many cultures of antiquity have fashioned 00:22:41.34\00:22:46.17 the things they do based on whether or not 00:22:46.18\00:22:49.45 they hold to this idea that the soul exist. 00:22:49.46\00:22:51.75 Matter of fact I did a study and this fits right here 00:22:51.76\00:22:54.40 and I'll just read the text here in John 5 and Roman, 00:22:54.41\00:22:56.94 but I did a study on the topic of adornment 00:22:56.95\00:23:00.27 in the sense of the Egyptian culture, the Asian cultures 00:23:00.28\00:23:06.30 and I wondered why the earring, 00:23:06.31\00:23:08.74 the nose ring, the tongue ring, 00:23:08.75\00:23:12.07 all these things are very common in our society today. 00:23:12.08\00:23:15.02 And I discovered something very amazing 00:23:15.03\00:23:17.38 that helped me see why the second commandment 00:23:17.39\00:23:19.74 was so significant, which was "Thou shall have no other gods 00:23:19.75\00:23:22.06 before me not making unto any graven images." 00:23:22.07\00:23:24.23 Why that was so vitally important? 00:23:24.24\00:23:26.27 And I thought, wow, I never thought that. 00:23:26.28\00:23:28.65 In these cultures the immortality of the soul 00:23:28.66\00:23:31.37 was embraced by those societies. 00:23:31.38\00:23:33.92 Remember the story in the Bible 00:23:33.93\00:23:35.02 when the Lord speaks about the demons 00:23:35.03\00:23:37.84 being cast out of individuals says 00:23:37.85\00:23:40.38 when the demon is cast out, 00:23:40.39\00:23:42.61 he roams the earth, the spirit it says, 00:23:42.62\00:23:44.79 he roams the earth looking for a place to rest 00:23:44.80\00:23:47.15 and when he finds and he goes back to the place 00:23:47.16\00:23:49.57 where he was and he sees that its empty and swept 00:23:49.58\00:23:52.42 and he brings with him seven more demons. 00:23:52.43\00:23:54.58 So the concept of that, there are those who believe 00:23:54.59\00:23:56.98 that when a person die, if that person was evil, 00:23:56.99\00:23:59.61 their soul now look for another body to posses. 00:23:59.62\00:24:03.41 Okay. And these individuals that worship planets, 00:24:03.42\00:24:08.41 stars, wood, stone, if they worship the sun, 00:24:08.42\00:24:12.25 they fashion their Gods out of gold. 00:24:12.26\00:24:14.71 If they worship the moon they fashion it out of silver. 00:24:14.72\00:24:17.42 If they worship the planets and the stars, 00:24:17.43\00:24:19.57 out of other things like diamonds and emeralds 00:24:19.58\00:24:21.36 and sapphire and all these other different precious stones. 00:24:21.37\00:24:24.76 And if they worship trees after out of wood or stone, 00:24:24.77\00:24:29.08 they literally grind their gods 00:24:29.09\00:24:30.66 and made them out of all these different type of materials 00:24:30.67\00:24:33.46 and what they would do is they would block 00:24:33.47\00:24:35.42 all the openings on their bodies with their gods. 00:24:35.43\00:24:38.92 So to keep the soul or the spirit 00:24:38.93\00:24:41.00 from possessing them, they would put there, 00:24:41.01\00:24:43.81 one of their gods by their ear, 00:24:43.82\00:24:45.29 thus you got the earring. Okay. 00:24:45.30\00:24:46.99 One in the nose, thus you got the nose ring, 00:24:47.00\00:24:49.13 one on the lip or the tongue, 00:24:49.14\00:24:51.27 thus you have the lip or the tongue ring 00:24:51.28\00:24:53.17 and where ever there was an opening on the body, 00:24:53.18\00:24:55.08 they put some form of their God there. 00:24:55.09\00:24:57.00 I see, to guard that entrance. 00:24:57.01\00:24:58.52 To guard that entrance, 00:24:58.53\00:24:59.70 so that's where the creation of adornment came from. 00:24:59.71\00:25:03.60 Okay. And so when Lord said, 00:25:03.61\00:25:05.17 "Thou shall have no other gods before me," 00:25:05.18\00:25:07.23 then I discover what Paul really meant when he says, 00:25:07.24\00:25:10.96 "What fellowship does 00:25:10.97\00:25:12.23 the temple of God have with idols." 00:25:12.24\00:25:15.83 So, wow, I never thought about that, 00:25:15.84\00:25:17.37 so this concept of the surviving soul 00:25:17.38\00:25:23.37 is prevalent in pagan societies. Okay. 00:25:23.38\00:25:26.27 So but it's not prevalent in Christian societies, 00:25:26.28\00:25:30.97 that is not those who believe in what the Bible says. 00:25:30.98\00:25:33.75 So the question is what happens when a person dies? 00:25:33.76\00:25:37.29 Look at John 5 verse 28 and 29. 00:25:37.30\00:25:39.85 I think we will probably cap it off here. 00:25:39.86\00:25:43.08 There are lots of other scriptures we can give, 00:25:43.09\00:25:45.05 but more particularly after they die. 00:25:45.06\00:25:48.41 This text really brings you to the grave and beyond, 00:25:48.42\00:25:51.56 if I could use that phrase. 00:25:51.57\00:25:53.80 John 5 verse 28 and 29 and the Bible says, 00:25:53.81\00:25:59.49 you know James you have King James version. 00:25:59.50\00:26:01.86 I can quote the Kings James version in my mind 00:26:01.87\00:26:04.04 and I have to do King James version. 00:26:04.05\00:26:05.82 As I look at this, it says 'Do not marvel' 00:26:05.83\00:26:07.61 but I know this its 'marvel not at this'. 00:26:07.62\00:26:09.37 Right. In the King James Version. 00:26:09.38\00:26:11.83 But it says." Do not marvel at this, 00:26:11.84\00:26:14.45 for the hour is coming in which, 00:26:14.46\00:26:19.26 the next word is all who are in the graves 00:26:19.27\00:26:23.90 will hear His voice." 00:26:23.91\00:26:25.59 First thing what happens to everybody, 00:26:25.60\00:26:27.50 where did they go? 00:26:27.51\00:26:28.50 All who are in the graves will hear his voice 00:26:28.51\00:26:33.04 and will come forth. 00:26:33.05\00:26:34.79 Verse 29, "Those who have done good 00:26:34.80\00:26:38.76 unto the resurrection of life, and those that have done evil 00:26:38.77\00:26:42.27 unto the resurrection of damnation or condemnation." 00:26:42.28\00:26:45.70 So you find what happens to the person after they die? 00:26:45.71\00:26:48.06 What happens to the soul after death? 00:26:48.07\00:26:51.24 They go to the grave 00:26:51.25\00:26:52.63 and they wait for their final assignment. 00:26:52.64\00:26:56.52 The second coming of Christ brings the assignment 00:26:56.53\00:26:59.53 of the first resurrection, the resurrection of life. 00:26:59.54\00:27:02.40 The thousand years after the thousand years are done. 00:27:02.41\00:27:04.50 And I think you covered that into detail 00:27:04.51\00:27:06.68 in Revelation Chapter 20, 00:27:06.69\00:27:07.69 you see the first and second death. 00:27:07.70\00:27:10.00 And you see clearly the second death 00:27:10.01\00:27:12.75 is the resurrection of damnation or condemnation. 00:27:12.76\00:27:17.33 They come up after the thousand years are done 00:27:17.34\00:27:20.21 and then they are assigned to the lake of fire. 00:27:20.22\00:27:23.12 So people are not going to heaven, 00:27:23.13\00:27:27.52 you know one after the other, after the other. 00:27:27.53\00:27:29.84 You don't have this constant stream of death everyday 00:27:29.85\00:27:31.96 and people souls flying off to heaven. Right. 00:27:31.97\00:27:34.82 The soul ceases, it know nothing, 00:27:34.83\00:27:37.54 it hears nothing, Ecclesiastes 9 00:27:37.55\00:27:39.14 tell us very clearly 00:27:39.15\00:27:40.70 Do you have that by the way? 00:27:40.71\00:27:41.78 No, I've Acts, I've Acts Chapter 4 00:27:41.79\00:27:44.00 right here verses, let me see here 00:27:44.01\00:27:48.96 what verses I have 29 and 34, it's not Acts 4, 00:27:48.97\00:27:51.54 its Acts Chapter 2 verses 29 and 34, 00:27:51.55\00:27:56.79 "David is not ascended to heaven." 00:27:56.80\00:27:58.30 He is dead and buried and his sepulcher 00:27:58.31\00:27:59.70 is with us unto this day. 00:27:59.71\00:28:00.74 It's just as an example. 00:28:00.75\00:28:02.50 The dead not know anything, Ecclesiastes 9, 00:28:02.51\00:28:05.10 there's no remembrance of view of them going to the grave, 00:28:05.11\00:28:07.96 there's no-- they don't praise. 00:28:07.97\00:28:09.49 So the Bible is really clear, there are a lot of verses, 00:28:09.50\00:28:11.55 Revelation 20 kind of summarizes 00:28:11.56\00:28:13.42 the whole idea of the first and second resurrection 00:28:13.43\00:28:16.77 and the dead who died at the first resurrection, 00:28:16.78\00:28:20.14 the wicked who die do not live again 00:28:20.15\00:28:21.85 until the second resurrection or after the thousand years 00:28:21.86\00:28:24.95 and there are number of verses in there, 00:28:24.96\00:28:26.32 and there's another program we cover this in lot more detail. 00:28:26.33\00:28:28.51 That's right, that's right. 00:28:28.52\00:28:29.98 Last one, Psalms 115 verse 17, 00:28:29.99\00:28:32.96 "The dead do not praise the Lord, 00:28:32.97\00:28:35.29 nor any who go down into silence not up into praise." 00:28:35.30\00:28:41.72 You know a lot of times people, any way, 00:28:41.73\00:28:44.92 you know, what you hear in television, 00:28:44.93\00:28:46.01 they are in heaven now dancing on streets of gold, 00:28:46.02\00:28:48.19 Liberochi is in heaven now playing the piano, 00:28:48.20\00:28:50.12 I wonder how the piano got there. 00:28:50.13\00:28:52.18 The Rat Pack, Sammy Davis Jr. Dean Martin, 00:28:52.19\00:28:55.71 Frank Sinatra, they're all in heaven, 00:28:55.72\00:28:57.80 I mean you know just all these terminologies, 00:28:57.81\00:29:00.55 every time a person dies the media 00:29:00.56\00:29:02.09 puts him heaven right away, 00:29:02.10\00:29:03.15 no matter what kind of life he lived. 00:29:03.16\00:29:04.90 Anyhow, but we've covered our questions for today 00:29:04.91\00:29:09.32 and we're gonna go and now segue into our topics. 00:29:09.33\00:29:12.03 But if you have any questions 00:29:12.04\00:29:13.05 you like to sent to us, here at House Calls 00:29:13.06\00:29:15.10 you can send those to housecalls@3anb.org, 00:29:15.11\00:29:18.92 that's housecalls@3anb.org. 00:29:18.93\00:29:21.34 And thank you so much for taking 00:29:21.35\00:29:23.02 the time to challenge our minds. 00:29:23.03\00:29:26.56 And thank you also for keeping the questions short. 00:29:26.57\00:29:29.35 It's getting few to some of you, 00:29:29.36\00:29:31.15 but for some of you, 00:29:31.16\00:29:33.09 you really want to be an author and write a book. 00:29:33.10\00:29:35.75 So those are hard to answer questions. 00:29:35.76\00:29:38.39 We gonna talk about the Three Angels' Messages, 00:29:38.40\00:29:41.56 lay some foundation for us on this, James. 00:29:41.57\00:29:43.21 Well the Three Angels' Messages are found 00:29:43.22\00:29:44.92 in Revelation Chapter 14 and these messages 00:29:44.93\00:29:48.78 are the last messages that are communicated 00:29:48.79\00:29:51.26 to the world before Jesus returns. 00:29:51.27\00:29:53.34 So it's a very important message. 00:29:53.35\00:29:55.89 We could call these God's last message for the world. 00:29:55.90\00:29:59.26 Revelation Chapter 14 verses 6 though 12 00:29:59.27\00:30:02.63 incorporate the message of the Three Angels'. 00:30:02.64\00:30:05.48 Now these Three Angels' begin with a title or phrase 00:30:05.49\00:30:08.89 and that is found in Revelation 14 verse 6 00:30:08.90\00:30:11.84 and we will start by reading that verse. 00:30:11.85\00:30:13.96 Let's start there. Revelation 14 verse 6, 00:30:13.97\00:30:16.99 "And I saw another angel flying in the midst of heaven, 00:30:17.00\00:30:19.28 having the everlasting gospel to preach unto them 00:30:19.29\00:30:22.67 that dwell on the earth to every nation 00:30:22.68\00:30:24.38 and kindred and tongue and people" 00:30:24.39\00:30:26.55 And then it goes on in verse 7, 00:30:26.56\00:30:27.97 saying with a loud voice but we want to stop, 00:30:27.98\00:30:30.26 we want to pause here with this first verse, 00:30:30.27\00:30:32.21 verse 6 of Revelation Chapter 14. 00:30:32.22\00:30:34.82 This verse contains the first phrase, 00:30:34.83\00:30:36.69 'the everlasting gospel' which happens 00:30:36.70\00:30:38.36 to be a unique phrase in all of scripture. 00:30:38.37\00:30:42.26 There's no place else in the Bible 00:30:42.27\00:30:44.20 that this phrase is found and this phrase 00:30:44.21\00:30:46.94 informs the rest of the messages. 00:30:46.95\00:30:50.68 This phrase molds and shapes 00:30:50.69\00:30:53.29 and fashions what is to follow. 00:30:53.30\00:30:55.78 Everything that follows this phrase 00:30:55.79\00:30:58.60 has to come under its dominion. 00:30:58.61\00:31:01.15 In another words, to fear God, to give glory to God, 00:31:01.16\00:31:03.90 the obvious judgment in the worship, 00:31:03.91\00:31:05.31 God is all found in the context of the everlasting gospel. 00:31:05.32\00:31:10.27 So it is vital for us as we go into this message 00:31:10.28\00:31:13.16 that we understand what this everlasting gospel is. 00:31:13.17\00:31:17.52 One of the things that we could know 00:31:17.53\00:31:18.83 about it just on the very basic 00:31:18.84\00:31:20.94 elementary level is its everlasting. It's everlasting. 00:31:20.95\00:31:24.35 And that means it is as everlasting 00:31:24.36\00:31:27.93 as the ones it represents. 00:31:27.94\00:31:30.42 From everlasting to everlasting, thou art God. 00:31:30.43\00:31:33.84 It is not secondly, it is not a gospel 00:31:33.85\00:31:36.36 that's disconnected from God, 00:31:36.37\00:31:38.76 because the gospel is the good news about salvation, 00:31:38.77\00:31:41.27 the good news about Christ, 00:31:41.28\00:31:43.03 the good news about the Father, 00:31:43.04\00:31:44.68 the good news about the power of the Holy Spirit in our life, 00:31:44.69\00:31:47.94 so everything about it continues from age to age. 00:31:47.95\00:31:51.39 So you must conclude as you down to Revelation, 00:31:51.40\00:31:54.18 the period at the end of the long sentence, 00:31:54.19\00:31:57.56 it is culminating in Revelation. 00:31:57.57\00:32:00.34 And this gospel, because its everlasting 00:32:00.35\00:32:02.75 it is effected every generation prior to the last proclamation. 00:32:02.76\00:32:07.81 So it's like reiterating at the very end of a, 00:32:07.82\00:32:10.32 you know a basket ball game now a days, 00:32:10.33\00:32:13.61 football game particularly would be the better example. 00:32:13.62\00:32:19.00 People sit down and watch football for hours 00:32:19.01\00:32:23.12 but for whatever reasons when it gets onto the very end, 00:32:23.13\00:32:25.44 you have a two minute warning. 00:32:25.45\00:32:27.42 Well, the game hasn't change, it's just the last stage of it. 00:32:27.43\00:32:31.95 In the very same way, we're leaving down 00:32:31.96\00:32:34.22 at the time of the closing out of the everlasting gospel. 00:32:34.23\00:32:37.08 This message that had been hidden 00:32:37.09\00:32:38.99 but revealed now through the prophets, 00:32:39.00\00:32:42.13 or you have two things in, 00:32:42.14\00:32:44.85 the mystery of an equity its one of those in the Bible. 00:32:44.86\00:32:47.59 And then you have the mystery, 00:32:47.60\00:32:48.70 the gospel that had been hidden 00:32:48.71\00:32:49.92 through out the ages but then made manifest 00:32:49.93\00:32:52.76 to reveal through the apostles in the prophets, 00:32:52.77\00:32:56.59 through those who have been given 00:32:56.60\00:32:59.95 the power of the Holy Spirit to communicate us 00:32:59.96\00:33:02.72 to the New Testament church into the last day believers. 00:33:02.73\00:33:05.49 And so you have these messages 00:33:05.50\00:33:07.00 and they're are primarily three warnings 00:33:07.01\00:33:09.38 that are most applicable to the time 00:33:09.39\00:33:13.43 that these things occur. 00:33:13.44\00:33:15.08 I'm gonna turn it back over to you in a minute here. 00:33:15.09\00:33:16.83 But lay me some foundation. 00:33:16.84\00:33:18.37 We read in the Book of Daniel 00:33:18.38\00:33:19.85 about the three Hebrew worthies, 00:33:19.86\00:33:21.44 Shadrack, Meshach, and Abednego. 00:33:21.45\00:33:23.37 And the reason why they chose not 00:33:23.38\00:33:24.84 to bow on the plane of Dura, 00:33:24.85\00:33:26.19 its not because all of a sudden they realized, 00:33:26.20\00:33:28.17 wait a minute, we shouldn't bow to images or wait a minute, 00:33:28.18\00:33:32.50 we shouldn't worship any other gods 00:33:32.51\00:33:33.85 other than the God of heaven. 00:33:33.86\00:33:35.31 These are truths that they knew before they were in captivity. 00:33:35.32\00:33:40.07 Okay. But now in the hour of trial had come, 00:33:40.08\00:33:45.20 it did not manifest a new truth, 00:33:45.21\00:33:47.60 it simply brought accountability to that truth. 00:33:47.61\00:33:51.16 Okay. So these Hebrews choosing 00:33:51.17\00:33:53.43 at that very critical hour to embrace these truths, 00:33:53.44\00:33:58.14 although it could have meant certain death 00:33:58.15\00:33:59.84 and we know the story of the fiery furnace, 00:33:59.85\00:34:02.24 yet these messages were true before they were in Babylon. 00:34:02.25\00:34:06.61 Now when you read these three messages, 00:34:06.62\00:34:09.02 Babylon is once again included in one of the messages 00:34:09.03\00:34:12.72 and it's amazing that there are three warnings 00:34:12.73\00:34:15.62 that are talked about here, three messages, 00:34:15.63\00:34:18.25 three Hebrews, three messages. 00:34:18.26\00:34:20.03 Babylon, physically or literally, 00:34:20.04\00:34:22.43 and Babylon, spiritually. 00:34:22.44\00:34:24.30 So you come out of this, 00:34:24.31\00:34:25.85 but this not just confined to the Babylon in the Middle East 00:34:25.86\00:34:31.06 of that day, this is now a message to the whole world. 00:34:31.07\00:34:35.83 As you lay the foundation, every nation, 00:34:35.84\00:34:37.38 kindred, tongue, and people. 00:34:37.39\00:34:38.52 Amen, I really like that illustration, 00:34:38.53\00:34:40.16 the two minute warning. 00:34:40.17\00:34:41.21 I think about that in football and any basketball. 00:34:41.22\00:34:44.19 A lot of games, specially very close and tight games, 00:34:44.20\00:34:47.54 very competitive games, very competitive conflicts 00:34:47.55\00:34:50.41 are won or lost in the last two minutes. 00:34:50.42\00:34:53.29 That's right. The two minute warning, 00:34:53.30\00:34:54.46 every thing intensifies. 00:34:54.47\00:34:55.56 The team intensifies, the struggle intensifies, 00:34:55.57\00:34:58.29 the last two minutes of basketball 00:34:58.30\00:34:59.89 every thing intensifies, the team intensifies, 00:34:59.90\00:35:02.47 the struggle intensifies, 00:35:02.48\00:35:03.66 and we're living in the three minute warning 00:35:03.67\00:35:05.13 if you will, the Three Angels' warning. I like that. 00:35:05.14\00:35:07.21 Of Revelation 14, that's the day in which 00:35:07.22\00:35:09.91 we're living and every thing has intensified. 00:35:09.92\00:35:12.26 The battle has intensified, the conflict has intensified, 00:35:12.27\00:35:15.26 the contest is intense right now between good and evil, 00:35:15.27\00:35:18.49 between the everlasting gospel and Babylon. 00:35:18.50\00:35:20.84 And that's what we're seeing here in Revelation 14, 00:35:20.85\00:35:22.92 we're seeing a contrast between two forces, 00:35:22.93\00:35:25.94 two elements, two armies if you will, 00:35:25.95\00:35:28.63 we're seeing the everlasting gospel on one side 00:35:28.64\00:35:31.05 and we're seeing Babylon on the other side. 00:35:31.06\00:35:32.96 And what's interesting is, 00:35:32.97\00:35:34.57 just like you're watching a game 00:35:34.58\00:35:36.48 and you can look at that game 00:35:36.49\00:35:37.79 and you can make a prediction about what you think 00:35:37.80\00:35:39.59 is gonna come out of that game, 00:35:39.60\00:35:41.11 even though you are in the last couple of minutes, 00:35:41.12\00:35:42.93 the same with the Bible. 00:35:42.94\00:35:44.69 The Bible makes it very clear and even more so, 00:35:44.70\00:35:46.94 because in a game all these are a few things 00:35:46.95\00:35:48.46 that could happen, there's some startling revelations 00:35:48.47\00:35:51.55 that can take place in the last minute 00:35:51.56\00:35:52.96 but in the contexts of the everlasting gospel 00:35:52.97\00:35:55.61 it is very clear who's going to win. 00:35:55.62\00:35:57.73 Babylon is going to fall. 00:35:57.74\00:35:59.60 Revelation Chapter 14 verse 8, Babylon is going to fall. 00:35:59.61\00:36:03.29 And this is beautiful when you understand, 00:36:03.30\00:36:05.16 because what God is saying to us is, 00:36:05.17\00:36:06.90 I've got some good news for you. 00:36:06.91\00:36:08.18 There's a conflict taking place and there is confusion 00:36:08.19\00:36:11.04 because that's what Babylon denotes confusion. 00:36:11.05\00:36:13.09 There's confusion, religious confusion, 00:36:13.10\00:36:14.93 confusion about God, confusion about salvation, 00:36:14.94\00:36:17.31 confusion about the truth of the Bible, 00:36:17.32\00:36:18.97 but I am telling you right now, Babylon is going to fall. 00:36:18.98\00:36:22.27 I am not saying that, John's not saying that, 00:36:22.28\00:36:24.90 the gospel is proclaiming that. 00:36:24.91\00:36:27.23 Revelation Chapter 14 verse 6 is therefore very good news, 00:36:27.24\00:36:32.22 Babylon is going to fall 00:36:32.23\00:36:33.46 and that's what the word gospel means. 00:36:33.47\00:36:34.90 It means good news, it means glad tidings 00:36:34.91\00:36:37.25 and this phrase is unique, because it reminds us 00:36:37.26\00:36:41.91 as John alluded to that this gospel is everlasting. 00:36:41.92\00:36:46.54 There is a message of good news for all of the world, 00:36:46.55\00:36:50.05 and that message is a message of God's love to every nation, 00:36:50.06\00:36:53.44 kindred, tongue and people. 00:36:53.45\00:36:54.82 It is a good news of what Jesus Christ 00:36:54.83\00:36:57.05 has accomplished for the entire world 00:36:57.06\00:37:00.02 and it is something that was accomplished 00:37:00.03\00:37:01.95 at Calvary for everyone, post Calvary and pre Calvary, 00:37:01.96\00:37:07.35 that why its called the everlasting gospel, John. 00:37:07.36\00:37:09.15 This phrase is not found anywhere else 00:37:09.16\00:37:10.68 because this phrase informs us 00:37:10.69\00:37:13.39 about the nature of this gospel. 00:37:13.40\00:37:15.43 This is not a New Testament message. No, no. 00:37:15.44\00:37:18.17 This is a New Testament and an Old Testament message, 00:37:18.18\00:37:20.87 it's the everlasting gospel. 00:37:20.88\00:37:22.72 It's the only way anyone has ever been saved 00:37:22.73\00:37:25.62 and that is through the gospel of the Jesus Christ. 00:37:25.63\00:37:27.62 Before the cross all of the faithful 00:37:27.63\00:37:30.18 look forward to the lamb of God 00:37:30.19\00:37:32.01 who is going to take away the sins of the world. 00:37:32.02\00:37:33.64 That's right. After the cross we look back to the lamb, 00:37:33.65\00:37:36.63 it takes away the sins of the world. 00:37:36.64\00:37:38.02 So before the cross, they're looking forward 00:37:38.03\00:37:40.41 and after the cross they're looking back. 00:37:40.42\00:37:42.49 Everyone is centering on the lamb of God 00:37:42.50\00:37:45.05 and that is the good news. 00:37:45.06\00:37:46.14 That is why it's called the everlasting good news 00:37:46.15\00:37:48.78 and that is what destroys or brings down this confusion 00:37:48.79\00:37:51.67 about salvation and this confusion about the gospel. 00:37:51.68\00:37:54.86 Now going back to the two minute warning, 00:37:54.87\00:37:58.20 you get down to the point where people are also focused, 00:37:58.21\00:38:02.15 not only are the players focused and more intense, 00:38:02.16\00:38:05.55 but people are focused, especially in a close game. 00:38:05.56\00:38:11.80 In our world today there is a focus that is existing 00:38:11.81\00:38:14.84 now that has not existed for a long time. 00:38:14.85\00:38:19.16 The post 911 world, the post modernistic society, 00:38:19.17\00:38:24.85 the immoral society, there are so many things 00:38:24.86\00:38:27.13 that are been thrown out, the people are wondering 00:38:27.14\00:38:29.10 what is the future of our world? 00:38:29.11\00:38:30.82 Even in the church and I want to just 00:38:30.83\00:38:33.02 include us in the controversy here 00:38:33.03\00:38:35.03 that's is in even every Christian church 00:38:35.04\00:38:36.96 has a controversy, but then you have now 00:38:36.97\00:38:39.18 amongst some of the moments of Christianity, 00:38:39.19\00:38:43.41 you have the spiritual formation controversy, 00:38:43.42\00:38:47.41 then you have the women's ordination controversy, 00:38:47.42\00:38:50.36 then you have the all there are some churches 00:38:50.37\00:38:54.28 and some movements that are pushing 00:38:54.29\00:38:55.48 for a gay and lesbian priest and bishops 00:38:55.49\00:38:59.42 and it seems there's so much 00:38:59.43\00:39:01.26 that's involved in the controversy. 00:39:01.27\00:39:03.82 This message is kind of a message by the Lord, 00:39:03.83\00:39:06.55 he says okay hold it, hold it, 00:39:06.56\00:39:09.76 let's get back to the issue at hand. Okay. 00:39:09.77\00:39:14.14 Everything that was happening in Babylon, 00:39:14.15\00:39:16.54 when Nebuchadnezzar had the musician's play 00:39:16.55\00:39:19.82 and to the sound of the trumpet 00:39:19.83\00:39:21.25 where everybody bow down in worship, 00:39:21.26\00:39:23.23 whatever conversations they were having all ceased 00:39:23.24\00:39:27.20 when that moment of trial came 00:39:27.21\00:39:28.85 and that moment of decision came. 00:39:28.86\00:39:31.04 It didn't-- all those things 00:39:31.05\00:39:32.44 lost their significance in the very same way 00:39:32.45\00:39:34.75 as we go through each of these messages, 00:39:34.76\00:39:36.52 there are three messages. 00:39:36.53\00:39:37.58 I want to spend some time on what they all mean 00:39:37.59\00:39:39.72 and why it's vitally important for us today to pay attention 00:39:39.73\00:39:44.90 even though the worship of the beast in its image 00:39:44.91\00:39:49.70 has not became a world wide issue. 00:39:49.71\00:39:51.99 Now when it says Babylon is falling here, 00:39:52.00\00:39:53.63 we're gonna pick at that and we're gonna talk 00:39:53.64\00:39:54.95 about the judgment hour. 00:39:54.96\00:39:56.10 So let me now jump ahead of myself, 00:39:56.11\00:39:57.71 let's go and start with the Judgment Hour Message. 00:39:57.72\00:40:01.32 Take us into that one right now, 00:40:01.33\00:40:03.01 why is the Judgment Hour Message 00:40:03.02\00:40:04.56 is so vitally important for today? 00:40:04.57\00:40:06.67 Well there's three reasons I feel that are, 00:40:06.68\00:40:09.39 you know, paramount for us in understanding the judgment. 00:40:09.40\00:40:12.94 The Bible teaches us first and foremost 00:40:12.95\00:40:15.19 in Romans Chapter 14 that none of us 00:40:15.20\00:40:18.16 should judge somebody else that we're all going to stand 00:40:18.17\00:40:21.07 before the judgment seat of Christ. 00:40:21.08\00:40:22.78 So part of the good news of judgment hour is the fact 00:40:22.79\00:40:26.51 that God has a judgment, 00:40:26.52\00:40:28.25 He has a final say in all of the decisions 00:40:28.26\00:40:30.60 and all of the injustices, in all of the evil 00:40:30.61\00:40:34.78 and the good that is taking place in this earth right now. 00:40:34.79\00:40:37.37 And sometimes we take it upon ourselves 00:40:37.38\00:40:39.21 to bring vengeance and to judge and to criticize others. 00:40:39.22\00:40:42.51 And God says, no, you off the hook, 00:40:42.52\00:40:44.37 don't judge one another anymore, 00:40:44.38\00:40:46.46 because they are all going to stand 00:40:46.47\00:40:47.69 before the judgment seat of Christ. 00:40:47.70\00:40:48.90 I think this is vital for us to understand. 00:40:48.91\00:40:51.20 I meet people all the time, 00:40:51.21\00:40:52.20 we don't want anything to do with judgment idea, 00:40:52.21\00:40:54.23 they don't want any connection with an idea of God 00:40:54.24\00:40:57.97 would bring anyone into account Christian, 00:40:57.98\00:41:00.23 non Christian, whatever. 00:41:00.24\00:41:01.50 And I think that is the saddest situation to be in, 00:41:01.51\00:41:05.13 because we can trust the heart of God. 00:41:05.14\00:41:07.48 We can trust His judgment and we need His judgment. 00:41:07.49\00:41:10.18 We need his justice, so what this message 00:41:10.19\00:41:12.53 does is it calls us to recognize 00:41:12.54\00:41:15.17 that God is going to bring us to an account. That's right. 00:41:15.18\00:41:18.51 Everything that has ever happened 00:41:18.52\00:41:19.95 in this earth whether it's good or evil, 00:41:19.96\00:41:21.27 it's gonna brought to an account. 00:41:21.28\00:41:23.06 And we told about this in Romans 14, 00:41:23.07\00:41:25.30 we told about this in First Peter 4 verse 17. 00:41:25.31\00:41:28.82 We told about this in Ecclesiastes Chapter 12, 00:41:28.83\00:41:32.66 13 and 14, it talks about God's gonna bring everything 00:41:32.67\00:41:35.09 into account whether it's good or evil. 00:41:35.10\00:41:37.13 And so but remember the context 00:41:37.14\00:41:40.57 of this judgment is the everlasting gospel. 00:41:40.58\00:41:43.52 This is good news. This is good news. 00:41:43.53\00:41:45.75 There's not anything to fear, this is good news, 00:41:45.76\00:41:48.11 because it's calling us to put our trust in one 00:41:48.12\00:41:51.05 whose heart is merciful, is gracious but is also just. 00:41:51.06\00:41:57.59 I want to go ahead and touch on the few of the verses 00:41:57.69\00:42:00.77 that you made mention up here just a moment ago. Okay. 00:42:00.78\00:42:05.39 We talked about the Judgment Hour Message, 00:42:05.40\00:42:08.92 first one, fear god and give glory to Him 00:42:08.93\00:42:11.45 for the hour of His judgment has come 00:42:11.46\00:42:13.92 and worship Him at the hour of judgment, 00:42:13.93\00:42:16.38 the issue is worship. 00:42:16.39\00:42:17.99 In the Hebrews, in the lives of Shadrack, 00:42:18.00\00:42:20.93 Meshach, and Abednego, 00:42:20.94\00:42:22.11 which in fact those are their Babylonian names, 00:42:22.12\00:42:24.05 Hanania, Mishael and Azaria, were their Hebrew names. 00:42:24.06\00:42:27.66 At that very hour the issue was worship. 00:42:27.67\00:42:29.86 Now one thing you have to come to conclusion. 00:42:29.87\00:42:33.37 The issue in the last days 00:42:33.38\00:42:34.58 is going to be over at the topic of worship. 00:42:34.59\00:42:37.50 Everyone worship something. 00:42:37.51\00:42:39.14 That's why when the judgment begins 00:42:39.15\00:42:40.65 and now let's put this in the context of it, 00:42:40.66\00:42:42.82 Jesus says, the father judge is nothing 00:42:42.83\00:42:45.16 but He's committed all judgment to his son. 00:42:45.17\00:42:47.29 So who's going to be judged and for what reason? 00:42:47.30\00:42:52.80 First Peter 4 verse 17. Read that for us there. 00:42:52.81\00:42:55.42 "For the time is come that judgment 00:42:55.43\00:42:56.70 must begin at the house of God 00:42:56.71\00:42:58.68 and if it first begin at us, what would be the end of those 00:42:58.69\00:43:01.58 who obey not the gospel of God?" 00:43:01.59\00:43:04.39 And if the righteous one scarcely say, 00:43:04.40\00:43:06.02 where shall the sinner and ungodly appear. 00:43:06.03\00:43:08.35 Now the reason I like this verse John, 00:43:08.36\00:43:09.69 one of this I like this verse 00:43:09.70\00:43:10.70 is because it clearly indicates as we read in Revelation 14 00:43:10.71\00:43:14.40 that the judgment is based on the gospel of God. 00:43:14.41\00:43:17.24 It says there if the judgment begins at the house of God 00:43:17.25\00:43:21.74 and if it first begins at us, 00:43:21.75\00:43:22.87 what shall be the end of those who do not obey the gospel. 00:43:22.88\00:43:25.26 So the judgment and the gospel 00:43:25.27\00:43:26.67 are directly connected together 00:43:26.68\00:43:29.23 and this is why it's so important for us 00:43:29.24\00:43:30.91 to recognize accountability to God. 00:43:30.92\00:43:33.55 Who do you want to be accountable to? 00:43:33.56\00:43:35.07 Yourself, the president, people around you or to God? 00:43:35.08\00:43:40.11 I mean I am so thankful 00:43:40.12\00:43:41.22 that Satan doesn't have control of the judgment, 00:43:41.23\00:43:43.06 because who knows 00:43:43.07\00:43:44.25 what would take place if he was in charge. 00:43:44.26\00:43:46.79 God is in charge and God is someone who can be trusted. 00:43:46.80\00:43:48.77 In fact all through the Old Testament, 00:43:48.78\00:43:50.39 the Psalms, David continually asked God, 00:43:50.40\00:43:53.09 examine me, examine me. 00:43:53.10\00:43:54.23 By the way that Hebrew word means to investigate me, 00:43:54.24\00:43:56.58 investigate me, investigate me, examine me. 00:43:56.59\00:43:59.35 Adam and Eve were examined, right at the very beginning, 00:43:59.36\00:44:01.27 God came and he examined the situation, 00:44:01.28\00:44:04.04 He passed the judgment, He examined Adam, 00:44:04.05\00:44:06.02 He asked him three questions, He examined Eve, 00:44:06.03\00:44:07.72 He asked her a question, He examined the serpent, 00:44:07.73\00:44:09.31 didn't asked him any question, because he's, 00:44:09.32\00:44:11.75 there is no reason for him to even have an account 00:44:11.76\00:44:14.21 or be given an opportunity 00:44:14.22\00:44:15.80 and so then He passed the judgment. 00:44:15.81\00:44:17.28 On Adam He passed the judgment on Eve 00:44:17.29\00:44:19.32 and we see from the very beginning of time, 00:44:19.33\00:44:21.50 from the very fall of mankind, 00:44:21.51\00:44:23.26 all the way through the Bible unto the very end, 00:44:23.27\00:44:25.49 there's an account that we give to God of love. 00:44:25.50\00:44:28.03 When you think about that everlasting I like that, 00:44:28.04\00:44:30.15 you locked right into the gospel, 00:44:30.16\00:44:31.90 that's why David, when he prayed the prayers, 00:44:31.91\00:44:33.75 "Search me oh God into my heart, 00:44:33.76\00:44:35.92 try me, test me, judge me 00:44:35.93\00:44:38.30 and investigate me and know my anxieties 00:44:38.31\00:44:41.29 and see if there be any wicked way in me and lead me 00:44:41.30\00:44:44.28 in to the way everlasting, the everlasting gospel." 00:44:44.29\00:44:50.11 That's where I want to be. 00:44:50.12\00:44:51.45 I want to be in the way that is not going 00:44:51.46\00:44:53.05 to be detrimental to my salvation 00:44:53.06\00:44:56.26 to my eternal existence, lead me 00:44:56.27\00:44:59.06 in the way of everlasting, but the reason 00:44:59.07\00:45:00.58 why First Peter 4:17 is vitally important is the Lord is not, 00:45:00.59\00:45:04.71 the first phase of the judgment, 00:45:04.72\00:45:07.41 well let me give you a story 00:45:07.42\00:45:08.50 and I am gonna use you as an example, you have children. 00:45:08.51\00:45:10.75 Okay, we don't have any children after 29 years 00:45:10.76\00:45:13.51 Lord didn't see fit for us to have children 00:45:13.52\00:45:15.90 and now we don't want them now. 00:45:15.91\00:45:17.66 Okay. Too late. 00:45:17.67\00:45:19.97 Too late, but if something were missing in your house, 00:45:19.98\00:45:23.50 lets just say your wallet is missing 00:45:23.51\00:45:25.80 or something from your laptop is missing 00:45:25.81\00:45:28.67 or some item in your house is missing, 00:45:28.68\00:45:30.82 would you go to the neighbor's children first 00:45:30.83\00:45:33.12 or would you start with your own? 00:45:33.13\00:45:34.56 I guess it depends where I live now, just kidding. 00:45:34.57\00:45:37.20 Now right you live way out in the-- 00:45:37.21\00:45:38.76 Wendock, so definitely be Gael my son, 00:45:38.77\00:45:43.14 Gael did you borrow my computer cord? 00:45:43.15\00:45:46.97 Daughter Kara. Kara did you take 00:45:46.98\00:45:50.41 that $5 bill sitting on the counter there? 00:45:50.42\00:45:52.35 Because I know you need, 00:45:52.36\00:45:53.38 she needs money for school everyday for lunch, 00:45:53.39\00:45:56.31 did you take that $5 bill sitting 00:45:56.32\00:45:58.46 on the counter right there? Yeah, I go to my kids first. 00:45:58.47\00:45:59.83 Right, the judgment begins at your house. 00:45:59.84\00:46:03.41 Investigation begins. The investigation begins there. 00:46:03.42\00:46:06.91 Why because there is a level of expectation 00:46:06.92\00:46:12.59 you have for your family members 00:46:12.60\00:46:15.14 that you don't have for other peoples. Yes. 00:46:15.15\00:46:17.77 When we commit our lives to Christ, 00:46:17.78\00:46:19.51 we commit our lives to a-- and I don't want to use 00:46:19.52\00:46:22.07 the word regiment, but for lack of a better word 00:46:22.08\00:46:24.54 there are principals and truths now 00:46:24.55\00:46:27.73 expected of us in our lives. 00:46:27.74\00:46:29.81 You know if we're in Christ, 00:46:29.82\00:46:31.98 we should walk as He has walked. 00:46:31.99\00:46:34.06 So the investigation is not just, 00:46:34.07\00:46:36.30 and this is so widely important, 00:46:36.31\00:46:38.14 its not that I say I am a Christian, 00:46:38.15\00:46:40.29 but how does your life measure with your profession, 00:46:40.30\00:46:45.98 does your profession and your confession match. 00:46:45.99\00:46:50.13 I professed to be a Christian, that's why the Bible says, 00:46:50.14\00:46:53.28 "They profess to know God" I think Titus says, 00:46:53.29\00:46:55.80 but in their works they deny him. 00:46:55.81\00:46:58.10 Being disqualified or reprobate 00:46:58.11\00:46:59.89 as the Kings James Version says, 00:46:59.90\00:47:01.27 so the Lord is saying, "Okay, you say you are a Christian, 00:47:01.28\00:47:04.35 but do your works verify that you are?' 00:47:04.36\00:47:07.81 And that why Jesus says in Matthew 7 in verses 21 to 23, 00:47:07.82\00:47:13.12 "Many will saith unto me, Lord, Lord, 00:47:13.13\00:47:15.65 I've done many wonders in your name, 00:47:15.66\00:47:17.14 I cast out devils in your name" 00:47:17.15\00:47:18.48 and Jesus will say, "I never knew you, 00:47:18.49\00:47:21.94 depart from me, you work as of iniquity." 00:47:21.95\00:47:23.50 I think that's a vital truth 00:47:23.51\00:47:25.43 and a vital reason for the judgment. 00:47:25.44\00:47:27.02 I think there's another one, that's a third reason 00:47:27.03\00:47:29.10 and this one is found 00:47:29.11\00:47:30.16 in Revelation Chapter 12 in verse 10. 00:47:30.17\00:47:33.88 Okay, let's look at that. 00:47:33.89\00:47:35.01 And I think this is the most important reason 00:47:35.02\00:47:37.07 for the judgment and I may be biased in that, 00:47:37.08\00:47:39.13 but we've looked that the judgment is good news, 00:47:39.14\00:47:42.59 because it takes us off the hook, 00:47:42.60\00:47:43.76 we don't need to judge people anymore. 00:47:43.77\00:47:45.33 God has a judgment. 00:47:45.34\00:47:46.50 The second one that's a lot of people 00:47:46.51\00:47:48.15 profess to be followers, who want followers 00:47:48.16\00:47:50.37 where we can leave them with the Lord, 00:47:50.38\00:47:51.43 but God is going to investigate, 00:47:51.44\00:47:52.88 He's going to bring us to an account. 00:47:52.89\00:47:54.36 But this third one is even more important. 00:47:54.37\00:47:56.35 This third one applies to every one of us 00:47:56.36\00:47:59.00 in one way or another, whether we're believers 00:47:59.01\00:48:00.75 or non believers, its in Revelation 12 in verse 10. 00:48:00.76\00:48:05.86 It says, "And I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, 00:48:05.87\00:48:08.67 Now is come salvation, and strength, 00:48:08.68\00:48:10.64 and the kingdom of our God, 00:48:10.65\00:48:11.87 and the power of his Christ for the accuser 00:48:11.88\00:48:14.41 of our brethren is cast down," 00:48:14.42\00:48:16.96 don't miss this last part, 00:48:16.97\00:48:18.93 "Which accused them before our God day and night." 00:48:18.94\00:48:22.67 The reason why God has a judgment 00:48:22.68\00:48:24.33 is because we have an accuser. 00:48:24.34\00:48:26.12 And he never takes a vacation, 00:48:26.13\00:48:28.22 he doesn't observe holidays, no fourth of July, 00:48:28.23\00:48:31.04 no Christmas, none of that stuff, 00:48:31.05\00:48:32.59 he's working day and night, 00:48:32.60\00:48:33.65 he doesn't sleep, 24x7x365 a year, 00:48:33.66\00:48:36.85 he is accusing, accusing and accusing. 00:48:36.86\00:48:38.98 And the Bible teaches us 00:48:38.99\00:48:40.67 that we are overwhelmed by the accusations of the devil. 00:48:40.68\00:48:45.12 He's got a good case against us. 00:48:45.13\00:48:46.80 There's non righteous no not one, 00:48:46.81\00:48:48.79 where all of our righteousness is like filthy rags. 00:48:48.80\00:48:51.34 And so as we put our trust in Jesus, 00:48:51.35\00:48:53.79 we need someone who can silence 00:48:53.80\00:48:56.17 the acquisitions of Satan against us 00:48:56.18\00:48:58.32 and that someone is our advocate. 00:48:58.33\00:49:00.73 That's right. He is our defense lawyer if you will, 00:49:00.74\00:49:03.51 First John Chapter 2 verse 1, "If any man sin, 00:49:03.52\00:49:06.43 he has advocate with the father." 00:49:06.44\00:49:07.97 Why is Jesus the advocate with the father? 00:49:07.98\00:49:10.89 Because we have an accuser, we have someone 00:49:10.90\00:49:12.66 who is accusing us day and night. 00:49:12.67\00:49:13.94 It's not though as God is against us, 00:49:13.95\00:49:15.40 Jesus for us and Jesus trying to persuade God, 00:49:15.41\00:49:18.01 you know, I'll be sympatric for, no. 00:49:18.02\00:49:19.58 I know some people will think that. 00:49:19.59\00:49:20.92 Yes, God so loved the world and Jesus said, 00:49:20.93\00:49:23.46 that if you've seen Me, you've seen the Father. 00:49:23.47\00:49:25.27 If you've seen My heart, you've seen the Father's heart, 00:49:25.28\00:49:27.18 but we still have this accuser. 00:49:27.19\00:49:28.68 Satan is back there saying it's not fair, 00:49:28.69\00:49:30.21 it's not fair, it's not fair. 00:49:30.22\00:49:31.73 And so Jesus Christ stands as our defense lawyer. 00:49:31.74\00:49:35.47 That's why again, the judgment is good news. 00:49:35.48\00:49:37.56 I've got some good news for you, 00:49:37.57\00:49:39.24 you feel overwhelmed, you feel guilty. 00:49:39.25\00:49:40.95 I meet people all the time. 00:49:40.96\00:49:41.97 They say, this what they say, 00:49:41.98\00:49:43.21 I am not good enough to go to church 00:49:43.22\00:49:45.96 and you know my response to that is in the context 00:49:45.97\00:49:47.61 of the everlasting gospel, 00:49:47.62\00:49:49.01 you are not good enough not to go to church. 00:49:49.02\00:49:52.04 There's none of us that are ever going 00:49:52.05\00:49:54.54 to be good enough to go to church, 00:49:54.55\00:49:56.03 to come in God's presence, 00:49:56.04\00:49:57.47 but each one of us needs the grace of God. 00:49:57.48\00:49:59.80 And we need to connect with God, 00:49:59.81\00:50:01.60 and we have this good news, this beautiful message 00:50:01.61\00:50:04.17 that when you feel overwhelm with guilt, with shame, 00:50:04.18\00:50:06.67 when you feel condemned and accused which is the job 00:50:06.68\00:50:08.89 of the accuser, you have an advocate. 00:50:08.90\00:50:10.70 You have someone who pleads in your behalf, 00:50:10.71\00:50:12.86 Jesus Christ the righteous, that's good news. 00:50:12.87\00:50:14.82 And notice this again verse 6, 00:50:14.83\00:50:16.70 "For every nation, kinder, tongue and people." Everybody. 00:50:16.71\00:50:18.79 Its not saying that this good news message 00:50:18.80\00:50:20.77 is going to the Christians or to the righteous, 00:50:20.78\00:50:23.33 or to the, you know, to the groups that are-- 00:50:23.34\00:50:25.57 that have all together, this is going to the world, 00:50:25.58\00:50:27.64 so what is the good news for the world, 00:50:27.65\00:50:30.22 you have an advocate. 00:50:30.23\00:50:31.27 That's right, you've an advocate, 00:50:31.28\00:50:32.29 somebody that stands with you. 00:50:32.30\00:50:34.58 Wonderfully put together and I want to reiterate it 00:50:34.59\00:50:36.14 again that whole world aspect. 00:50:36.15\00:50:38.08 A lot of times people think, well, okay we are Christians, 00:50:38.09\00:50:40.34 the world is gonna be lost. 00:50:40.35\00:50:41.67 For God so loved the world, He wants everyone, 00:50:41.68\00:50:45.13 He's not willing that any should perish, 00:50:45.14\00:50:46.79 but that all should come to repentance. 00:50:46.80\00:50:48.64 This message of salvation is open to every man, 00:50:48.65\00:50:51.54 there's no need and I think we mentioned 00:50:51.55\00:50:53.67 in one of the former programs, 00:50:53.68\00:50:55.09 hell is not prepared for people, 00:50:55.10\00:50:56.91 it's prepared for the devil and his angels. 00:50:56.92\00:50:58.82 So he's saying to the sinner, 00:50:58.83\00:50:59.91 to the drunkard, to the profaner, 00:50:59.92\00:51:02.10 to the criminal, to the whoever, 00:51:02.11\00:51:04.36 whatever category a person may be and he is saying, 00:51:04.37\00:51:06.34 I've got some good news for you 00:51:06.35\00:51:08.75 if you simply accept me, I'll be your advocate. 00:51:08.76\00:51:13.10 I will expunge your record, 00:51:13.11\00:51:15.28 you know there's nothing more that a criminal 00:51:15.29\00:51:16.69 wants than a record expunged, just clean it out. 00:51:16.70\00:51:19.50 Amen. I'll clear that record up, 00:51:19.51\00:51:21.15 I'll give you a new name and matter of fact 00:51:21.16\00:51:23.30 I'm going to Revelation 2 in verse 17, 00:51:23.31\00:51:25.88 don't lose your point but I studied the seven messages 00:51:25.89\00:51:29.57 of Revelation, you know, each of the churches 00:51:29.58\00:51:31.11 had a particular promise to those who overcame. 00:51:31.12\00:51:33.17 Yes. This one got me the most excited, 00:51:33.18\00:51:35.93 here it says Revelation 2 in verse 17. 00:51:35.94\00:51:38.77 "He who has an ear, let him hear 00:51:38.78\00:51:40.11 what the Spirit says to the churches. 00:51:40.12\00:51:42.26 To him who overcomes, 00:51:42.27\00:51:43.26 I will give some of the hidden manna to eat." 00:51:43.27\00:51:46.30 This is the part that got me excited. 00:51:46.31\00:51:48.15 "And I will give him a white stone 00:51:48.16\00:51:49.72 and on the stone a new name written 00:51:49.73\00:51:52.23 which no one knows except him who receives it." 00:51:52.24\00:51:55.07 Now I thought, what is this white stone thing 00:51:55.08\00:51:57.72 and I studied, there was a commentary that I got, 00:51:57.73\00:52:00.59 I have a four book commentary 00:52:00.60\00:52:02.16 about the messages of Revelation, 00:52:02.17\00:52:04.52 in particularly they take a special bend 00:52:04.53\00:52:07.16 on this seven messages of Revelation in seven churches. 00:52:07.17\00:52:11.64 And I discovered that in the court system, 00:52:11.65\00:52:13.58 the Roman court at that particular time, 00:52:13.59\00:52:15.36 there was the prosecutor, 00:52:15.37\00:52:16.57 and there was the defense attorney, 00:52:16.58\00:52:17.92 and there was jury, much like our day today. 00:52:17.93\00:52:20.69 Whenever the jury couldn't come to a conclusion, 00:52:20.70\00:52:25.30 it was up to the accused to determine his own fate. 00:52:25.31\00:52:29.61 Now that will be nervy. 00:52:29.62\00:52:31.09 If you've ever seen, anyway rather than using 00:52:31.10\00:52:34.84 a television shows as an example, 00:52:34.85\00:52:36.45 so they would bring out in front of this 00:52:36.46\00:52:39.69 accused person a bag, a leather pouch. 00:52:39.70\00:52:42.65 Okay. And in that leather pouch, 00:52:42.66\00:52:44.75 where they couldn't see, 00:52:44.76\00:52:46.46 they put their hand through some cloth 00:52:46.47\00:52:48.29 and there was a white stone and the black stone. 00:52:48.30\00:52:51.97 The court didn't make the decision, 00:52:51.98\00:52:53.68 the prosecutor and the defense attorney 00:52:53.69\00:52:56.20 couldn't step up to the bar 00:52:56.21\00:52:58.09 and the jury couldn't make the decision. 00:52:58.10\00:53:01.13 Now since they couldn't make the decision, 00:53:01.14\00:53:02.92 it's up to the accuser to decide his own fate. 00:53:02.93\00:53:05.07 So he reaches with intrepidation 00:53:05.08\00:53:07.22 and trembling in to that bag 00:53:07.23\00:53:08.84 and it didn't fell like a white stone 00:53:08.85\00:53:10.35 or feel like a black stone. 00:53:10.36\00:53:11.89 He has to pick one and the one he pulls out 00:53:11.90\00:53:15.29 determines his fate. 00:53:15.30\00:53:16.48 And he passes it to the court 00:53:16.49\00:53:18.82 and they open his hand and there is. 00:53:18.83\00:53:20.38 And I tell you many throughout the centuries, 00:53:20.39\00:53:24.17 many through this Roman system lost their life 00:53:24.18\00:53:27.34 when in fact they could have been innocent, 00:53:27.35\00:53:29.50 but they decided their fate 00:53:29.51\00:53:30.67 by choosing the color of the stone. 00:53:30.68\00:53:32.24 Now if you read the text again, Jesus says, 00:53:32.25\00:53:34.59 "As your advocate, I will give you a white stone." 00:53:34.60\00:53:38.08 Wow, praise God. 00:53:38.09\00:53:39.10 Instead of you having to reach in that bag as your advocate, 00:53:39.11\00:53:43.05 I am gonna give you a white stone 00:53:43.06\00:53:45.45 and I am gonna give you an anonymity. 00:53:45.46\00:53:47.46 When you are set free, people would even connect 00:53:47.47\00:53:49.67 your past back to you. Isn't that beautiful? 00:53:49.68\00:53:52.04 That is absolutely. So when I read it, 00:53:52.05\00:53:54.17 I presented it number of years ago, 00:53:54.18\00:53:55.75 I said we have an advocate that he says to the court, 00:53:55.76\00:54:00.11 this court is rigged in your favor, 00:54:00.12\00:54:01.90 first of all I know the judge, I know the father, 00:54:01.91\00:54:04.73 I am your judge and your advocate 00:54:04.74\00:54:07.38 and the accuser is just waiting to condemn you, 00:54:07.39\00:54:09.83 but here's a stone, here is your new name. 00:54:09.84\00:54:13.95 And his fate has decided already because the advocate, 00:54:13.96\00:54:17.59 Jesus Christ gives him a new stone. 00:54:17.60\00:54:19.67 And you know the prosecutor has, in a court situation, 00:54:19.68\00:54:23.25 in this court situation the prosecutor 00:54:23.26\00:54:25.68 has file cabinets that he brings in, 00:54:25.69\00:54:28.56 file cabinets full, full, full. 00:54:28.57\00:54:30.71 So you're, we're--lets just say we are sitting there, 00:54:30.72\00:54:33.27 the judge hasn't come in yet, 00:54:33.28\00:54:34.77 everyone's getting ready in the courtroom, 00:54:34.78\00:54:36.43 the judge hasn't come in, the defense lawyers, 00:54:36.44\00:54:38.61 you know may be he's not quite in yet either, 00:54:38.62\00:54:40.54 but the prosecutor is there early 00:54:40.55\00:54:42.89 and he has got all these moving vans outside, 00:54:42.90\00:54:44.88 and he's bringing all these file cabinets 00:54:44.89\00:54:46.16 and he is filing up all of these material, 00:54:46.17\00:54:47.95 all these evidence against you. 00:54:47.96\00:54:49.60 And then the God, the Father sits, 00:54:49.61\00:54:50.80 the Jesus comes in, the court sits and we have. 00:54:50.81\00:54:54.44 As he starts talking, they say, 00:54:54.45\00:54:56.54 wait a minute, wait a minute. 00:54:56.55\00:54:57.91 I got this something rather 00:54:57.92\00:54:59.64 I need to give to the defense lawyer. 00:54:59.65\00:55:01.67 The defense lawyer comes, 00:55:01.68\00:55:02.77 this is and there comes the white stone. 00:55:02.78\00:55:05.20 That's right. This is powerfully good news. 00:55:05.21\00:55:06.99 In fact here is something that's really-- 00:55:07.00\00:55:08.74 I don't preach, I mean I tell you, 00:55:08.75\00:55:10.12 the white stone, you do sermon on the white stone. 00:55:10.13\00:55:13.19 Acts 24, Paul is been brought before Felix, 00:55:13.20\00:55:17.90 he is being asked to give a summary 00:55:17.91\00:55:21.70 basically of the message of what it is that he's teaching 00:55:21.71\00:55:24.65 and preaching that have got the Jews so upset. 00:55:24.66\00:55:26.92 And he begins to preach, Felix verse 24, 00:55:26.93\00:55:30.83 "And his wife Drusilla, Jewish comes, 00:55:30.84\00:55:33.66 they send for Paul to hear him concerning the faith 00:55:33.67\00:55:36.24 in Christ, the fate of Jesus Christ." 00:55:36.25\00:55:38.45 In verse 25, and he reason, 00:55:38.46\00:55:40.06 the Paul is reasoning of righteousness 00:55:40.07\00:55:42.89 of temperance and of judgment to come. 00:55:42.90\00:55:46.16 He knows what happens. 00:55:46.17\00:55:47.42 Felix trembled, that word means 00:55:47.43\00:55:51.70 he was afraid and he answered 00:55:51.71\00:55:53.86 "And said go your way for a time, 00:55:53.87\00:55:55.67 for when I have a convenient season 00:55:55.68\00:55:57.45 I will call for the friends." 00:55:57.46\00:55:59.82 The only thing that is scary about the judgment 00:55:59.83\00:56:02.75 is if we are unwilling to receive 00:56:02.76\00:56:06.03 the white stone from Jesus Christ. 00:56:06.04\00:56:07.58 That's right. If we are unwilling to respond 00:56:07.59\00:56:10.17 to the call of the everlasting gospel, 00:56:10.18\00:56:12.22 Felix was afraid but we don't have to be afraid. 00:56:12.23\00:56:14.82 Believers do not have to be afraid 00:56:14.83\00:56:16.13 and those who are willing to put their trust in Jesus 00:56:16.14\00:56:17.93 do not have to be afraid. 00:56:17.94\00:56:19.18 It is when we turn away from this message 00:56:19.19\00:56:21.52 that we are to be afraid. 00:56:21.53\00:56:23.91 And you know, when you think about it, 00:56:23.92\00:56:25.87 perfect love cast out all fear. Amen. 00:56:25.88\00:56:30.65 If you walk into a courtroom 00:56:30.66\00:56:31.89 and there's a whole left side of the court room 00:56:31.90\00:56:33.73 with files and files and files. 00:56:33.74\00:56:36.39 And then your lawyer stands up and says 00:56:36.40\00:56:42.67 all those crimes have been expunged. 00:56:42.68\00:56:46.26 He went in and dug up these records of all the things 00:56:46.27\00:56:48.83 I've forgiven him, I've already. 00:56:48.84\00:56:51.09 So your honor I'd like to move 00:56:51.10\00:56:55.35 that all those sins be stricken from the record, 00:56:55.36\00:56:59.79 covered by the blood of lamb, isn't that good news. 00:56:59.80\00:57:02.17 Amen. And so that, 00:57:02.18\00:57:04.20 before we get into the individual messages 00:57:04.21\00:57:06.13 in the next program about the judgment hour, 00:57:06.14\00:57:08.73 about the fall of Babylon, 00:57:08.74\00:57:09.94 about worshipping the beast and its images 00:57:09.95\00:57:12.02 those are the fearful things, what we want to do 00:57:12.03\00:57:14.25 is began this message by simply saying, 00:57:14.26\00:57:16.55 we have an advocate Jesus Christ. 00:57:16.56\00:57:19.52 Amen. The Righteous. 00:57:19.53\00:57:20.96 So is there any fear in that, absolutely not. 00:57:20.97\00:57:24.93 So here at House Calls, we believe that one day 00:57:24.94\00:57:27.00 there's gonna be a call to your house. 00:57:27.01\00:57:29.17 And when that call comes we pray 00:57:29.18\00:57:30.47 that because of Christ you will be ready. 00:57:30.48\00:57:32.92 God bless you until we see you again. 00:57:32.95\00:57:34.64
