Now this is a very important
question. Very significant.

And I think we need to
unpack it first of all,

by identifying the whole
idea of the accusations of Satan

and we can do that in
a couple of scriptures.

One of them I think of is in
a Revelation Chapter 12. Okay.

Revelation Chapter 12
and specifically verse 10,

describes Satan as the
accuser of the brethren.

Now Revelation Chapter 12,
beginning here with verse 10.

It says, "And I heard a
loud voice saying in heaven,
00:04:09.94\00:04:14.07
now is come
salvation, and strength,
00:04:14.10\00:04:17.24
and the kingdom of our
God, and the power of his Christ
00:04:17.27\00:04:20.83
for the accuser of
our brethren is cast down,
00:04:20.86\00:04:24.43
which accused them
before our God day and night."

Something is very
significant about the context
00:04:30.10\00:04:32.01
of this chapter in relation
to the accusations of Satan
00:04:32.04\00:04:35.04
is that Satan
deceived in verse 4,
00:04:35.07\00:04:39.18
the stars or third
part of the stars of heaven.
00:04:39.21\00:04:42.06
Now we understand
this verse to be symbolic,
00:04:42.09\00:04:44.15
stars representing angels.
00:04:44.18\00:04:46.43
And so when Satan
brought his accusations
00:04:46.46\00:04:49.30
originally against God,
00:04:49.33\00:04:50.71
he deceived the
third of the angels,
00:04:50.74\00:04:52.43
the unfallen beings of heaven.
00:04:52.46\00:04:53.98
War, we are told
in verses 7 through 9
00:04:54.01\00:04:56.42
of Revelation
12 began in heaven.
00:04:56.45\00:04:58.69
And it began with
Lucifer, the covering cherub
00:04:58.72\00:05:00.67
who deceived these
angels and misguided them
00:05:00.70\00:05:05.08
into misunderstanding
the character of God.
00:05:05.11\00:05:08.29
Now I don't believe, John,
00:05:08.32\00:05:09.69
in the context of
this heavenly war.
00:05:09.72\00:05:11.75
I don't believe that
these were the only angels
00:05:11.78\00:05:14.59
that were
introduced to questions
00:05:14.62\00:05:16.73
about God's character.

In the context of this, I
think what we're seeing here

is a focus on the cross because
in the context of Chapter 12,
00:05:21.24\00:05:26.95
we have a woman
who's great with child.
00:05:26.98\00:05:28.98
Now a woman in
the Bible represents
00:05:29.01\00:05:30.91
a church. That's right.
00:05:30.94\00:05:32.31
This woman is great with a child
00:05:32.34\00:05:34.44
who is to rule all
nations, so that's Jesus.
00:05:34.47\00:05:36.83
Satan tried to
destroy this child
00:05:36.86\00:05:38.31
as soon as He was
born, but He was caught up
00:05:38.34\00:05:39.79
to the throne
and to God in heaven.
00:05:39.82\00:05:42.37
That's talking about
the fact that Jesus came,
00:05:42.40\00:05:44.37
He lived a perfect life,
00:05:44.40\00:05:45.77
He died a perfect death,
00:05:45.80\00:05:47.27
the death for our sins
and He was raised to heaven.
00:05:47.30\00:05:50.15
And when that happened
00:05:50.18\00:05:51.97
all of the questions
were answered in heaven.
00:05:52.00\00:05:55.16
All of the questions that might
have been placed in the angels
00:05:55.19\00:05:57.60
that did not fall from heaven,
00:05:57.63\00:05:59.43
but Lucifer were
answered. That's right.

So what we have
here in this context is,

is a statement in verse 10

that says that the
accuser is cast down,

in the sense that
can no longer accuse

before the angels in heaven,

God's people or
God obedient just
00:06:14.07\00:06:16.57
or unmerciful or unfair
in anyway, shape or form.

All of the accusations
have been answered in heaven

concerning the character of God

and concerning the
character of Satan.

Satan has been unveiled.

Satan has been
unmasked by the cross,

but woe, unto the
inhabitants of the earth.

Now the reason
why we bring this out

is because verse 12 tells us,

"That the heavens can rejoice
00:06:36.67\00:06:38.54
and those who
dwell in it can rejoice
00:06:38.57\00:06:40.22
but woe to the
inhabitants of the earth

and the sea for the
devil has come down to you,
00:06:41.75\00:06:43.39
having great wrath, because
he knows his time is short."

Now the accusations of Satan
00:06:46.72\00:06:49.39
are still coming
against God's people.
00:06:49.42\00:06:52.43
Even though heavenly beings
don't buy them, we still do.
00:06:52.46\00:06:56.63
And what I mean by that is,
00:06:56.66\00:06:58.03
there are times when we
believe that God is unfair,
00:06:58.06\00:07:00.32
that God is
unjust or we're not sure
00:07:00.35\00:07:02.27
if God loves us and forgives us,
00:07:02.30\00:07:03.97
when we give Him our
sins and confess our sins
00:07:04.00\00:07:05.97
and accept Christ as our Savior.
00:07:06.00\00:07:08.07
And Satan is the one that
is making us feel this way.
00:07:08.10\00:07:10.63
He's the one that's
seeking to overwhelm us.
00:07:10.66\00:07:12.52
He's that one that is
accusing us day and night,
00:07:12.55\00:07:14.53
24 X 7, 365 days a year.
00:07:14.56\00:07:17.12
Eternally accusing,
never taking any vacation,
00:07:17.15\00:07:20.37
continually
accusing us before God.
00:07:20.40\00:07:23.18
Now what does
that mean before God?
00:07:23.21\00:07:25.05
It doesn't mean
that he's in heaven,
00:07:25.08\00:07:26.45
that he has access to heaven.
00:07:26.48\00:07:27.85
That's very clear
in the context of this
00:07:27.88\00:07:29.27
he's been cast down, cast out.
00:07:29.30\00:07:31.04
But what it means is
that the God is omniscient.

God has a full view
of what Satan is doing

and the work that he's doing
of the accusations of Satan.

He sees it, He
knows it and He recognizes

the conflict that
we are going through.

That's why in 1
John 2:1, it says,

"We have an
advocate with the Father."

Someone who speaks in
our defense to the Father.

That's right. Jesus
Christ the righteous.
00:07:48.14\00:07:49.55
It's not because the
father is against us. No.
00:07:49.58\00:07:51.84
And Jesus is for us and
He's trying to convenience
00:07:51.87\00:07:53.82
the Father to love us.
00:07:53.85\00:07:55.22
If you've seen me, Jesus
says you've seen the Father.
00:07:55.25\00:07:57.08
It's because we have an
accuser of the brethren.
00:07:57.11\00:07:59.65
Satan is accusing us.

So to answer this question,
yes, Satan is able to accuse us.

He does it before God
because God is omniscient.

But, no, Satan does
not have access to heaven.

He does not have
access to the heavenly beings.

Their minds are clear.

He's been unmasked before them.

There is no way that his
accusations can affect them.

They affect us.

interceding on our behalf.

You know, I think the
person that put that question

broad sweep of it,

remembered the story in Job

where when the sons of God

came to present
themselves before the Lord.

Matter of fact, if you
look at that in Job Chapter 1
00:08:35.39\00:08:37.12
and Job Chapter 2,
this is two references here
00:08:37.15\00:08:39.72
that show you at
a particular time,
00:08:39.75\00:08:42.27
that it doesn't say
where this meeting was held.
00:08:42.30\00:08:45.03
It doesn't say it
was held in heaven,
00:08:45.06\00:08:46.43
it doesn't say it
was held on earth.
00:08:46.46\00:08:48.14
But where ever
the meeting was held,
00:08:48.17\00:08:50.28
there was a
gathering of the sons of God.
00:08:50.31\00:08:52.48
And when the Bible
speaks about the sons of God,

it speaks about the godly.

In this context--
other unfallen beings.

And the Bible speaks of here,

Satan coming in
the midst to them.

Job 1:6, "Now there was
a day when the sons of God

came to present
themselves before the Lord,

and Satan also came among them.

And the Lord said to Satan,

from whence comest thou
or from where do you come?

So Satan answered
the Lord, and said,

from going to
and fro on the earth,

and from walking
back and forth on it."

And so you find
that very same thing

Satan said, "From going
to and fro on the earth,

back and forth in it."

And so you see
clearly Revelation 12,

also gives us
another aspect that shows

that this accusatory being
and I think one of the things

we talked about here is
Satan will always be the accuser
00:09:53.52\00:09:57.41
of our brethren until his
life comes to an end. Yes.

Of one of the illustrations
we used earlier was,
00:10:00.41\00:10:03.67
if you have a dog
that liked to bite people,
00:10:03.70\00:10:05.50
how long will that bite people?
00:10:05.53\00:10:07.64
As long as it's around. Yes.
00:10:07.67\00:10:09.22
That's why sometimes when people
00:10:09.25\00:10:11.04
are viscously
attacked by animals
00:10:11.07\00:10:13.80
the police may say to an owner,
00:10:13.83\00:10:15.20
"Well, you have
to put that dog down
00:10:15.23\00:10:17.37
because that dog is dangerous."
00:10:17.40\00:10:19.41
Or a child is
mauled by an animal
00:10:19.44\00:10:21.56
and we've heard those instances
00:10:21.59\00:10:22.96
where they put the
animal to sleep. Yes.
00:10:22.99\00:10:24.62
Or in the mad cow disease,
when the cow was affecting
00:10:24.65\00:10:27.85
or infecting all the
other parts of the cattle,
00:10:27.88\00:10:29.87
put that animal down.
00:10:29.90\00:10:31.27
Well, Satan will continue to
be the accuser of our brethren,
00:10:31.30\00:10:33.40
however, because of
the blood of Christ.
00:10:33.43\00:10:38.40
Because of His
judgment being righteous
00:10:38.43\00:10:41.14
and the forgiveness of
Christ blotting out our sin,
00:10:41.17\00:10:44.51
the accusation will not
stand in the judgment. Amen.

You know, the question is asked.

The hour of His
judgment has come.

Revelation 6 ends, the great
day of His wrath is coming,

Well, when you look at the
context of this whole thing

Daniel adds another component

that I want to include
in this, the court scene.

And in every court scene,
you have a defense attorney,

you have the jury and
the-- you know, the Bible says,

the judgment was set,
and the books were open.
00:11:18.87\00:11:20.38
But you see all
those who are seated
00:11:20.41\00:11:22.52
in the judgment as
Daniel 7 brings out.
00:11:22.55\00:11:26.62
But what else do you have?
00:11:26.65\00:11:28.02
You have a prosecutor who
is accusing that the person
00:11:28.05\00:11:34.03
who's been defended. Yes.
00:11:34.06\00:11:35.83
So in that very
context, during the judgment

that is going on now,
00:11:38.47\00:11:39.95
Satan is continuing in
the accusatory way to say,

James, shouldn't be
saved because of this.

John shouldn't be
saved because of this.

And I'm reminded
of the vision that
00:11:47.71\00:11:49.36
or the dream that
Martin Luther told
00:11:49.39\00:11:52.96
of how he was
tormented in his dream
00:11:52.99\00:11:55.45
that Satan was continuing
to accuse him before God.
00:11:55.48\00:11:58.85
But he said, in the dream
00:11:58.88\00:12:00.59
God showed the scroll
of all of Luther's sins,
00:12:00.62\00:12:05.12
but over that each sin
was stamped the Word pardon.
00:12:05.15\00:12:09.01
By the blood of Christ.
00:12:09.04\00:12:10.41
Pardoned, pardoned
by the blood of Christ.
00:12:10.44\00:12:12.13
And so truly Satan is
the accuser of our brethren,
00:12:12.16\00:12:15.25
but that accuser
is gonna be around us,
00:12:15.28\00:12:18.37
as long as accusation
is going to be around us,
00:12:18.40\00:12:21.06
as long as the
accuser is around,
00:12:21.09\00:12:22.82
but when he ceases to
exist so does his accusation.

And that's what
I like about Job.

chapters you brought out

Job is probably one of
the oldest books in the Bible.

make a couple of ideas here

that make it very
clear that first of all,

Satan had access to
other worlds at certain times.

He came to the presence of God,

the sons of God were
there and he accused and said,

"Hey, I'm representing earth."
00:12:50.10\00:12:51.86
And so we see him having
access in the presence of God
00:12:51.89\00:12:55.54
and who is it that he's
seeking to deceive or convince?
00:12:55.57\00:12:59.56
It's the sons of God.
00:12:59.59\00:13:00.96
It's these representatives
of God's unfallen creation
00:13:00.99\00:13:05.45
that he is seeking to influence
00:13:05.48\00:13:07.33
and yet when we
look at the context now
00:13:07.36\00:13:10.10
of the New Testament we see
00:13:10.13\00:13:11.50
that his influence has
been cast out of heaven.

We see he's been cast out.
00:13:13.97\00:13:15.34
He's no longer
influencing these beings

that come into
the presence of God.

So Satan can no
longer influence the heavens

as it says in Revelation 12:12,

but woe to the
inhabitants of the earth.

Another picture of this
is given in Zechariah 3,

before the angel of the Lord,

right hand to resist him."

So Satan is no longer
going to the heavenly courts,

to the presence of God,

but he is still standing at
our right hand to resist us.

Joshua, the high
priest is a representative

of the intersession
of Christ, in our behalf.

Satan, the Lord rebuke thee,
