whole thing is driving

the end of the world

that scoffers are saying,

"This won't happen.

There's no coming and there's
no sign of Jesus coming again."

Which we see today.

We have many today in
the world that are saying,

"Well, I don't see
the end of the world.

We just have a few problems and,

yeah, I mean, the
problems or substantial hurdles,

but, you know, the
world ebbs and flows.

We have these climate changes

that we've seen
in the past overtime.

It's not really
coming to an end."

And that's, in fact,
what Peter is saying--

that they'll say
that, but then it will end.

And the other thing...

The other thing is
this world is not being,

the Lord is not coming back

to this world to
walk in this world.

Any more than He came to
the world of the Antediluvians

to walk in amongst
them and save those

who were on the earth.

The purpose of it is to
destroy by fire the next time.

The reason I say that,
John, is because there are some

who believe that
there is going to be

this thousand year
earthly reign of Christ.

That's why there's such
push on getting the world
00:06:48.32\00:06:51.89
balanced in its ozone
layers and making sure that,
00:06:51.90\00:06:55.63
we don't pollute the land
for our children in the future.
00:06:55.64\00:06:59.46
I know that there are
other benefits to that,
00:06:59.47\00:07:01.78
by having clean
water and clean air.
00:07:01.79\00:07:04.44
We don't want to just go
nuts and just destroy the land.
00:07:04.45\00:07:07.30
Because the Bible
did say in Revelation 11,
00:07:07.31\00:07:09.30
"I will destroy those
who destroy the earth."
00:07:09.31\00:07:11.75
But it's actually showing
that God is not coming back
00:07:11.76\00:07:16.03
to reform or to
live down here with us.
00:07:16.04\00:07:21.10
He's coming back to
take us where He is,
00:07:21.11\00:07:23.59
preparing home for us.

And so this world is
getting ripe for destruction

and the context of that,

whole thing is
don't be confused.

God made a promise the
last time to destroy the world

and He made a promise
this time to destroy it,

and as He
fulfilled the last promise,

That's the whole
context of that passage, yeah.

conjures up the thought to me,

people that need to be saved

how they try to clean

So in this respect
we're not here in this world

to somehow get it ready

when He comes to reign
on His throne on this earth.

No, He's coming
down on this earth

that in the second coming,
it says that His feet won't

even touch the ground.

to meet Him in the air.

And then take us with
Him to where He is in heaven.

that's a fulfillment

coming down to establish

He led captivity
captive and gave gifts to men.

Now this, He
ascended what does it mean

but that He also first descended
00:09:54.74\00:09:56.86
into the lower
parts of the earth?
00:09:56.87\00:09:59.53
He who descended is
also the One who ascended
00:09:59.54\00:10:03.80
far above all the heavens,
that He might fit all things."

Okay, so what it's
saying here is that,

talking about Christ's ascension
that he ascended on high.

It means ascended in...

Paul, Apostle Paul
is clarifying this,

because first he descended

to the lower parts of the earth.

about a couple of things here.

came down to this earth

from the glories of
heaven to begin to live out

die on the cross for us,

paying the penalty for our sins.

And then so He
had the right then

to re-ascend to
heaven in our behalf

and to mediate the
benefits of the redemption

He achieved while He
was here on this earth.

the added element of the fact
that when He came to this earth,

not only He did he
die for us on the cross

but that He
rested for three graves--

that was the lower
parts of the earth.

how does that harmonize

passage in Ephesians Chapter 4

Christ coming to this earth

to become our savior
and our Lord, our redeemer.

going to live out

the life that we cannot
live perfectly ourselves--

and to die on the cross to
pay the penalty of the sin,

we have committed.

And then, of course,
after resting in the grave,

heaven as he indicated

in John Chapter 14 that he says,

receiving Him, us to himself,

are very much in harmony

components of the resurrection

and in reality the resurrection
is one of the topics.

It's as very very vaguely

or hardly talked about at
all today in many churches.

It's die, go to heaven.
Die, go straight to heaven.

But the Bible has
the strong foundation

which teaches there's
gonna be a resurrection

Hebrew 11, verse 35, it
speaks of a better resurrection

is the first resurrection.
