Dear Father, 00:01:42.07\00:01:44.46 we are needing more of your grace through this morning 00:01:44.47\00:01:49.09 and so we submit ourselves to you, 00:01:49.10\00:01:50.84 Lord, and we just ask that you should be 00:01:50.85\00:01:52.32 very close to each one of us. 00:01:52.33\00:01:54.34 Especially John as he is not feeling well today. 00:01:54.35\00:01:57.20 But Lord be with our words, 00:01:57.21\00:01:59.08 be with everything that we talk about here today, 00:01:59.09\00:02:02.65 everything we are studying. 00:02:02.66\00:02:04.44 And be with each of our viewers 00:02:04.45\00:02:05.94 and our listeners, Lord. 00:02:05.95\00:02:07.53 They are a big part of this program 00:02:07.54\00:02:09.15 and I just pray that you would bless them 00:02:09.16\00:02:10.46 especially as well, in Jesus name Amen. 00:02:10.47\00:02:12.80 As you know we have Bible questions, 00:02:14.90\00:02:17.30 whenever you want to send them to us, 00:02:17.31\00:02:18.64 you can send them to our Internet address 00:02:18.65\00:02:21.12 which if you've been before, it's housecalls@3abn.org 00:02:21.13\00:02:26.73 that's housecalls@3abn.org. 00:02:26.74\00:02:30.34 Thank you so much for being faithful 00:02:30.35\00:02:32.57 and sending questions and you know there are 00:02:32.58\00:02:34.19 some really, really good questions you send to us. 00:02:34.20\00:02:36.46 Some are repeats that is the same topic 00:02:36.47\00:02:41.55 not the same question exactly 00:02:41.56\00:02:43.92 and some of them are new and challenging. 00:02:43.93\00:02:45.64 But what do we have today, John, for the first question. 00:02:45.65\00:02:47.82 Yeah, I've got a question from Rosanne 00:02:47.83\00:02:49.87 and she appreciates our ministry 00:02:49.88\00:02:52.40 and I think her four, her encouraging words there, 00:02:52.41\00:02:56.24 then she has a question here. 00:02:56.25\00:02:57.39 She says in the scripture of verse Mark 14:21 00:02:57.40\00:03:02.03 about Judas who betrayed Jesus. 00:03:02.04\00:03:04.80 It says that it would have been good for that man 00:03:04.81\00:03:07.78 to have never been born. 00:03:07.79\00:03:09.75 My question is, if there was no Judas 00:03:09.76\00:03:12.34 then how would the crucifixion 00:03:12.35\00:03:13.83 and the resurrection of Jesus have been fulfilled. 00:03:13.84\00:03:16.79 Thank you for your answer and for your ministry. 00:03:16.80\00:03:19.30 So thank you very much, Rosanne from Kansas City. 00:03:19.31\00:03:21.52 Let's take a look at this passage that Rosanne 00:03:22.76\00:03:25.47 is speaking of here and we find it in Mark Chapter 14. 00:03:25.48\00:03:28.97 I'm gonna start reading from verse 18, 00:03:28.98\00:03:31.76 so you can get the context here. 00:03:31.77\00:03:34.10 It says and as they sat and did eat Jesus said 00:03:34.11\00:03:37.60 and this is of course at the last supper. 00:03:37.61\00:03:40.55 Verily, verily, I say unto you, 00:03:40.56\00:03:42.89 one of you which eateth with me shall betray me 00:03:42.90\00:03:47.08 and they began to sorrow, to be sorrowful 00:03:47.09\00:03:50.00 and they said unto Him one by one He said 00:03:50.01\00:03:52.47 I another said is it I, and he answered 00:03:52.48\00:03:56.11 and said unto to them it is one of the twelve 00:03:56.12\00:03:58.73 that dipeth with me in the dish. 00:03:58.74\00:04:01.71 The son of man indeed goeth as it is written of him 00:04:01.72\00:04:05.48 but woe to that Man by whom the Son of man is betrayed, 00:04:05.49\00:04:09.31 good word for him that, 00:04:09.32\00:04:10.90 that man if he had never been born. 00:04:10.91\00:04:13.56 Well, some sobering words and I definitely 00:04:13.57\00:04:16.35 would not want to have been Judas 00:04:16.36\00:04:18.06 in any, any conceivable way. 00:04:18.07\00:04:21.29 But the question here is what would have happened? 00:04:21.30\00:04:24.35 How would the crucifixion 00:04:24.36\00:04:25.72 and the resurrection have occurred? 00:04:25.73\00:04:27.80 And this is something that we simply don't know, 00:04:27.81\00:04:29.78 I read this question because 00:04:31.42\00:04:32.62 I thought the very same thing. 00:04:32.63\00:04:34.95 And as I began to contemplate in fact 00:04:34.96\00:04:36.82 in my own mind, what would have happened? 00:04:36.83\00:04:39.14 Let me take it a step further, 00:04:39.15\00:04:40.21 even let's say the Jews had 00:04:40.22\00:04:42.95 accepted Christ as their Messiah. 00:04:42.96\00:04:44.90 We know that the Church would have never been, 00:04:46.02\00:04:49.44 would have never begun had the Jews accepted 00:04:51.33\00:04:54.35 Jesus as their Messiah because He would have 00:04:54.36\00:04:56.23 used them to finish the work throughout 00:04:56.24\00:04:58.32 the world to bring salvation to all men. 00:04:58.33\00:05:00.87 But because they rejected Christ, 00:05:00.88\00:05:02.76 did not accept that mission He choose 12 00:05:02.77\00:05:05.35 and then apostles to go forward began the Church 00:05:05.36\00:05:09.23 and ministered directly to the Gentiles 00:05:09.24\00:05:11.61 and ministering back as well to the Jews as 00:05:11.62\00:05:15.22 part of the world wide gospel of Jesus Christ. 00:05:15.23\00:05:18.56 But think about this, okay, so if, 00:05:18.57\00:05:20.96 if everything had gone differently, 00:05:20.97\00:05:22.69 let's say even the Jews had accepted Christ 00:05:22.70\00:05:24.60 what would have happened? 00:05:24.61\00:05:25.67 I mean, Jesus still needed to give His life 00:05:25.68\00:05:27.52 as a ransom for our sins 00:05:27.53\00:05:30.65 and to pay the penalty for our sins. 00:05:30.66\00:05:32.78 So, what would have happened? 00:05:32.79\00:05:34.26 You know, I can only speculate on this 00:05:34.27\00:05:35.76 and this is definitely my opinion, John but, 00:05:35.77\00:05:37.48 you know, the other what you say, 00:05:39.65\00:05:42.57 the other co-horde of it, 00:05:45.54\00:05:46.64 the one's that helped crucify Christ were the Romans. 00:05:46.65\00:05:50.22 And it very well could have been at the Jews 00:05:50.23\00:05:51.66 had accepted Christ as their Messiah 00:05:51.67\00:05:54.72 they would have been quite an uprising 00:05:54.73\00:05:56.31 and I'm sure the Romans would have found a way to, 00:05:56.32\00:05:59.15 to kill their King, which would have been Christ. 00:05:59.16\00:06:01.87 So, you could see in that scenario 00:06:01.88\00:06:03.06 Jesus would have been crucified anyway. 00:06:03.07\00:06:04.80 But even in the scenario of Judas 00:06:06.02\00:06:08.08 had He not betrayed Christ, someone could have easily 00:06:08.09\00:06:10.71 betrayed Christ, someone who could have 00:06:10.72\00:06:12.80 come forward and caused the events that took place 00:06:12.81\00:06:17.21 in the, in the Calvary story. 00:06:17.22\00:06:19.42 So, anyway I just, I throw this out because, 00:06:19.43\00:06:21.88 John, we don't know, so we really don't know 00:06:21.89\00:06:24.53 the answer to this question. 00:06:24.54\00:06:26.10 But I think the comment here about Jesus saying 00:06:26.11\00:06:29.26 it would be better that this man had 00:06:29.27\00:06:30.38 never been born, should be taken simply at face value. 00:06:30.39\00:06:33.64 You know, rather than betraying Christ, 00:06:33.65\00:06:36.20 it would have been better to just have 00:06:37.86\00:06:39.85 never been born, never been alive 00:06:39.86\00:06:41.28 because you will have to ultimately pay the price 00:06:41.29\00:06:43.93 for your sins of betraying the Son of man, the Son of God. 00:06:43.94\00:06:48.49 Other than that, we simply don't know. 00:06:48.50\00:06:50.85 True, and you know you look at 00:06:50.86\00:06:52.83 the serious situations in life, 00:06:52.84\00:06:55.62 and Jesus also mentioned 00:06:55.63\00:06:58.12 that if anyone offends one of these little ones, 00:06:58.13\00:07:02.63 it's better that a milestone be put around 00:07:04.78\00:07:07.20 their neck and they thrown in the sea, 00:07:07.21\00:07:08.93 then to a friend one of little ones, 00:07:09.94\00:07:12.29 when he speaks about children he says 00:07:12.30\00:07:14.09 allow the children to come to me 00:07:14.10\00:07:16.00 and do not forbid them. 00:07:16.01\00:07:17.86 But truly this is a speculative answer, 00:07:17.87\00:07:21.40 we don't know, we know that He was 00:07:21.41\00:07:23.81 going to be betrayed, the prophecy was, 00:07:23.82\00:07:27.67 my friend betrayed me. 00:07:27.68\00:07:30.38 And so God in His sovereignty saw 00:07:30.39\00:07:33.60 well through the veil of history 00:07:33.61\00:07:35.93 that it would happen that way. 00:07:35.94\00:07:37.81 So, Judas wasn't randomly chosed 00:07:37.82\00:07:41.61 but the Lord, as Isaiah 49 says, 00:07:41.62\00:07:44.98 Isaiah 46 verse 9 and 10 it says 00:07:44.99\00:07:47.11 declaring the end from the beginning. 00:07:47.12\00:07:49.96 And from ancient times things that are not yet done 00:07:49.97\00:07:54.15 saying I will do all of my pleasure. 00:07:54.16\00:07:56.20 I think that's Isaiah 46 verse 10. 00:07:56.21\00:07:59.30 So, the Lord sees, He saw that, 00:07:59.31\00:08:02.80 He saw that the Jews would betray Him, 00:08:02.81\00:08:04.98 that was the prophecy. 00:08:04.99\00:08:06.65 Not, not for ordained but for, for known. 00:08:06.66\00:08:10.01 Right and you could pretty much, 00:08:10.02\00:08:11.13 if you stood on the top of a building and you, 00:08:11.14\00:08:14.57 and you saw two cars speeding one from the west 00:08:14.58\00:08:17.41 and one from the south and there was no 00:08:17.42\00:08:20.16 stop sign you could predict what was going to happen, 00:08:20.17\00:08:23.26 but you didn't make it happen. 00:08:23.27\00:08:24.87 But God has far greater ability to see 00:08:24.88\00:08:27.45 into the future and understand 00:08:27.46\00:08:29.82 how the tables unfold, that's why Jesus said, 00:08:29.83\00:08:32.70 I tell these things beforehand 00:08:32.71\00:08:35.66 that when they do come to pass you'll believe. 00:08:35.67\00:08:38.89 And so that pretty much was a, 00:08:38.90\00:08:40.83 a fulfillment of the prophecy rather than a, 00:08:40.84\00:08:42.79 than a setup for Judas. Right, right. 00:08:42.80\00:08:45.30 But I wouldn't wanna be him and I encourage you, 00:08:45.31\00:08:47.47 I agree with you on that one. 00:08:47.48\00:08:49.32 Here's another one, I am looking for 00:08:49.33\00:08:52.15 New Testament verses forbidding the eating of 00:08:52.16\00:08:54.32 unclean meat, specifically swine flesh. 00:08:54.33\00:08:58.34 I have a concordance it did nothing for me, 00:08:58.35\00:09:01.13 please help, God bless you in Jesus name, Adam. 00:09:01.14\00:09:05.48 Thank you, Adam, for your question. 00:09:05.49\00:09:06.92 Let me, let me encourage you, 00:09:06.93\00:09:08.21 when we study the Bible, Isaiah tells us 00:09:10.22\00:09:14.14 that we should study it line upon line, 00:09:14.15\00:09:17.94 line upon line, precept upon precept, 00:09:17.95\00:09:21.70 precept upon precept, here a little and there a little. 00:09:21.71\00:09:26.43 When the Bible, when the words were written 00:09:26.44\00:09:28.74 to Timothy by the Apostle Paul, 00:09:30.38\00:09:32.70 which reads as follows in 00:09:32.71\00:09:33.84 Second Timothy 3 and verse 16. 00:09:33.85\00:09:35.72 Which says all scriptures given by 00:09:36.85\00:09:38.86 inspiration of God, he was not referring 00:09:38.87\00:09:41.50 to the New Testament he was referring 00:09:41.51\00:09:42.93 to the Old Testament, because when these words 00:09:42.94\00:09:45.51 were given there was no New Testament but they were 00:09:45.52\00:09:48.03 recorded later in the New Testament 00:09:48.04\00:09:49.59 as a reflection of the validity 00:09:49.60\00:09:52.64 of the Old Testament. 00:09:52.65\00:09:54.81 One of the unfortunate things today 00:09:54.82\00:09:56.66 and a number of issues have come up 00:09:56.67\00:09:57.92 where people say, well, I don't see that-- 00:09:57.93\00:09:59.24 I don't see that in the New Testament, 00:09:59.25\00:10:02.13 for everything to be in the New Testament 00:10:02.14\00:10:04.01 that was in the Old Testament the book would have to be 00:10:04.02\00:10:06.32 relatively as thick as the Old Testament but it's not. 00:10:06.33\00:10:11.77 You don't find the full 6 day creation story 00:10:11.78\00:10:13.88 in the New Testament either, 00:10:13.89\00:10:15.87 but there is no reason to reject 00:10:15.88\00:10:17.48 the fact that the Lord created 00:10:17.49\00:10:18.86 different things on different days. 00:10:18.87\00:10:21.37 You don't find a number of other 00:10:21.38\00:10:23.06 stories in the Old Testament, in the New Testament 00:10:23.07\00:10:26.58 and so the point of the matter is 00:10:26.59\00:10:29.27 if we're looking for repeats then the Bible pretty much 00:10:29.28\00:10:32.33 becomes a book that's redundant in many cases. 00:10:32.34\00:10:35.25 The one place in the Bible 00:10:35.26\00:10:36.38 where things are repeated is 00:10:36.39\00:10:39.06 in the gospels Matthew, Mark, Luke, John 00:10:39.07\00:10:40.74 because pretty much they experience 00:10:40.75\00:10:42.16 a lot of the same thing. 00:10:42.17\00:10:44.25 But let me encourage you, 00:10:44.26\00:10:46.40 when you look at the clean and the unclean foods 00:10:46.41\00:10:48.96 they are verses that will clearly say to you 00:10:48.97\00:10:51.74 in order to understand this you have to understand 00:10:51.75\00:10:53.99 the Old Testament relevant. 00:10:54.00\00:10:56.04 For example go with me to First Corinthians, 00:10:56.05\00:10:58.09 Chapter 3 verse 16 and 17. 00:11:01.02\00:11:04.95 First Corinthians Chapter 3 verse 16 and 17 00:11:04.96\00:11:07.59 it says, "Do you not know 00:11:09.33\00:11:10.51 that you are the temple of God" 00:11:10.52\00:11:14.47 and in another translation, King James Version says 00:11:14.48\00:11:17.45 "Do you not know that your body is the temple of God, 00:11:17.46\00:11:20.44 and that the Spirit of God dwells in you? 00:11:21.60\00:11:24.11 If anyone defiles the temple of God, 00:11:24.12\00:11:27.48 God will destroy him for the temple of God 00:11:27.49\00:11:30.04 is holy, which temple you are." 00:11:30.05\00:11:33.28 When you look at verse 17 00:11:33.29\00:11:34.76 "If anyone defiles the temple of God." 00:11:34.77\00:11:37.61 You cannot help but remember the story 00:11:37.62\00:11:39.43 of Daniel in Daniel Chapter 1. 00:11:39.44\00:11:42.26 When Daniel made up his mind not to defile himself 00:11:42.27\00:11:47.59 but the portion of the King's meat, 00:11:47.60\00:11:48.98 nor with the wine which he drank. 00:11:48.99\00:11:51.91 And so you can't understand the verse fully here 00:11:51.92\00:11:55.29 unless you understand the parallel to that 00:11:55.30\00:11:57.93 or the type, this is the anti-type 00:11:57.94\00:12:00.94 to that particular story. 00:12:00.95\00:12:02.49 Going further you have First Corinthians 00:12:02.50\00:12:06.99 6 verse 19 and 20 says "Do you not know that 00:12:07.00\00:12:10.36 your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you. 00:12:10.37\00:12:14.31 Whom you have from God and you're not your own 00:12:15.81\00:12:18.25 for you're brought at a price therefore 00:12:18.26\00:12:21.49 glorify God and your body 00:12:21.50\00:12:23.26 and then your spirit which are God's." 00:12:23.27\00:12:25.97 Let me give you some examples, 00:12:25.98\00:12:26.96 and I'm going to tip toe here but I'm going to be 00:12:28.19\00:12:29.41 very frank about it, you will not find 00:12:29.42\00:12:32.77 any scriptures in the Bible say don't smoke, 00:12:32.78\00:12:34.96 you won't find anything that says don't, 00:12:36.52\00:12:38.92 don't take Quaaludes in excess, 00:12:38.93\00:12:42.46 don't take it acid or some of these-- 00:12:42.47\00:12:46.73 Or even drugs, no matter what-- 00:12:46.74\00:12:48.27 Drugs and period, you don't find it saying 00:12:48.28\00:12:52.07 forbidding the use of things nowadays that did not exist 00:12:52.08\00:12:56.17 then but you find the principle 00:12:56.18\00:12:58.60 that exists in the Bible. 00:12:58.61\00:13:00.08 And the principle is this First Corinthians 10:31, 00:13:00.09\00:13:02.81 "Therefore, whether you eat or drink, 00:13:04.87\00:13:07.91 or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God." 00:13:07.92\00:13:12.25 Do all to the glory of God. 00:13:12.26\00:13:14.57 And in the book of Ecclesiastes we find 00:13:14.58\00:13:19.65 not Ecclesiastes in the Book of Isaiah, 00:13:21.28\00:13:23.91 go with me to Isaiah Chapter 66. 00:13:23.92\00:13:25.99 Isaiah Chapter 66, we find the scriptural injunction 00:13:28.59\00:13:34.07 as to what would be happening when Jesus comes? 00:13:34.08\00:13:37.22 And how He forbids, He talks about 00:13:37.23\00:13:40.28 and you specifically asked about swine flesh. 00:13:40.29\00:13:42.49 Okay, I'm getting there now, bear with me, 00:13:45.33\00:13:47.60 it's not cold outside but it sure does feel like 00:13:49.26\00:13:51.95 my voice is just struggling with me today 00:13:51.96\00:13:55.15 but you're patient so thank you very much. 00:13:56.17\00:13:58.36 Okay, here it is. 00:13:59.62\00:14:03.08 Isaiah 66 verse 15, 16, and 17. 00:14:03.09\00:14:08.49 John, may be you can help me by reading those? 00:14:08.50\00:14:10.94 "For behold, the LORD will come with fire 00:14:10.95\00:14:13.61 and with His chariots, like a whirlwind, 00:14:13.62\00:14:15.95 to render His anger with fury, 00:14:15.96\00:14:17.66 And His rebuke with flames of fire. 00:14:17.67\00:14:20.37 For by fire and by His sword 00:14:20.38\00:14:22.03 with the Lord plead with all flesh. 00:14:22.04\00:14:24.38 And the slain of the LORD shall be many. 00:14:24.39\00:14:26.91 They that sanctify themselves and purify themselves, 00:14:26.92\00:14:29.99 in the gardens behind one tree 00:14:30.00\00:14:32.49 in the midst, eating swine's flesh 00:14:32.50\00:14:35.18 and the abomination and the mouse, 00:14:35.19\00:14:37.84 shall be consumed together, says the Lord God." 00:14:37.85\00:14:40.45 Okay, this is the text about the future, 00:14:40.46\00:14:43.60 this is what's going to happen 00:14:43.61\00:14:44.86 when the Lord comes and execute 00:14:44.87\00:14:46.26 his vengeance by fire and by sword. 00:14:46.27\00:14:49.32 And you find in Revelation 19 00:14:49.33\00:14:51.15 and Revelation talks about out of his mouth goeth 00:14:51.16\00:14:53.61 a sharp sword with which He strikes the nations. 00:14:53.62\00:14:57.47 This is future, notice the category 00:14:57.48\00:14:59.94 that you want to support for not eating swine's flesh, 00:14:59.95\00:15:03.05 it says it right there. 00:15:03.06\00:15:04.85 Now, if you were to look at the swine's flesh 00:15:04.86\00:15:07.16 in a medical sense there is only one word 00:15:07.17\00:15:10.42 I can use for a pig, it's a pig. 00:15:10.43\00:15:12.28 Did I say that, John? 00:15:14.88\00:15:15.85 And if you look at what doctors forbid people 00:15:17.15\00:15:19.45 that, you know that is the only animal I saw 00:15:19.46\00:15:21.56 in poo-poo many years ago entitled 00:15:21.57\00:15:24.13 from the tail to the snout, that means 00:15:24.14\00:15:28.27 from the tip of the tail all the way 00:15:28.28\00:15:30.22 to the pig's nose that's the only animal 00:15:30.23\00:15:32.77 that people eat every single part of. 00:15:32.78\00:15:34.95 And you wonder where all these diseases come from. 00:15:36.26\00:15:38.16 As a matter of fact let me just share something 00:15:38.17\00:15:39.78 with you, I brought this up on the Internet here 00:15:39.79\00:15:41.64 and that's one of my pages, 00:15:41.65\00:15:42.68 okay it's coming up here all right, there it is. 00:15:42.69\00:15:44.91 Talks about the effects and this is, 00:15:46.13\00:15:48.75 this is what medical doctors are saying 00:15:48.76\00:15:50.53 about the effects of swine flesh. 00:15:50.54\00:15:53.86 It says, pigs bodies contain many toxins, 00:15:55.10\00:15:58.57 worms and latent diseases. 00:15:58.58\00:16:01.75 Although some of these infestations 00:16:03.17\00:16:05.21 are harbored in other animals, 00:16:05.22\00:16:07.18 modern veterinary say that pigs are far more 00:16:07.19\00:16:11.83 predisposed to these illnesses than other animals. 00:16:11.84\00:16:16.22 This could be because pigs like, 00:16:16.23\00:16:18.66 like to scavenge and will eat any kind of food 00:16:18.67\00:16:22.31 including dead insects, worms, 00:16:22.32\00:16:25.19 riding cockroaches etc including their 00:16:25.20\00:16:29.48 own garbage and even other pigs. 00:16:29.49\00:16:33.14 This is the beginning of the article, 00:16:33.15\00:16:34.31 influenza is one of the most famous illnesses 00:16:34.32\00:16:37.60 which pigs share with humans. 00:16:37.61\00:16:40.01 So, we wonder why we have the flu? 00:16:40.02\00:16:41.69 Pigs. Not the sole reason. 00:16:43.16\00:16:45.84 Not the sole reason but pigs share that with 00:16:45.85\00:16:48.85 humans, the influenza. 00:16:48.86\00:16:51.14 This illness is harbored in the lungs of pigs 00:16:51.15\00:16:53.64 during the summer months intense to affect pigs 00:16:53.65\00:16:56.20 and humans in the cooler months. 00:16:56.21\00:16:58.33 That's why when we come to the winter time, 00:16:59.55\00:17:01.73 you know, all of a sudden you get your flu shorts, 00:17:01.74\00:17:03.47 well you can't give a pig a flu short 00:17:03.48\00:17:04.93 because that's not gonna do anything. 00:17:04.94\00:17:07.43 And something else you know people eat sausages. 00:17:07.44\00:17:10.88 Sausages contain bits of pigs lungs, 00:17:10.89\00:17:14.96 so those who eat pork sausages tend to suffer more 00:17:14.97\00:17:18.43 during the epidemic of influenza. 00:17:18.44\00:17:21.15 Pig meat contains excessive quantities of histamine 00:17:21.16\00:17:25.64 and imidazole compounds which can lead to itching 00:17:26.73\00:17:30.65 and inflammation, growth hormones 00:17:30.66\00:17:33.03 which promotes inflammation in growth, 00:17:33.04\00:17:35.05 sulphur which contains all this mucus, 00:17:35.06\00:17:38.64 it gives a medical term, which leads to swelling 00:17:38.65\00:17:41.06 and deposits of mucus in tendons 00:17:41.07\00:17:43.18 and cartilage resulting in arthritis, rheumatism and etc. 00:17:43.19\00:17:47.19 The things that happen in a person's body 00:17:47.20\00:17:49.40 just because of eating a pig are far more detrimental 00:17:49.41\00:17:54.15 than eating any other animal, 00:17:54.16\00:17:56.10 and the reason why God created the pig, 00:17:56.11\00:17:58.83 you go look at the Old Testament, 00:17:58.84\00:18:00.30 I think you're aware of that because 00:18:00.31\00:18:01.56 you're looking for the support of the new 00:18:01.57\00:18:03.21 but if you look at the Old Testament 00:18:03.22\00:18:04.54 the Lord forbade the eating of swine's flesh. 00:18:04.55\00:18:07.44 And today, John, as I give it back to you, 00:18:07.45\00:18:09.72 a lot of people think they have arthritis 00:18:09.73\00:18:12.11 when they just have pigites. 00:18:12.12\00:18:13.92 Because what happens is the toxins from the pig 00:18:13.93\00:18:16.69 not to be lighthearted about this, the body can't digest it 00:18:16.70\00:18:21.70 but it stores it around the joints. 00:18:21.71\00:18:23.20 And so when people think that their you know, 00:18:23.21\00:18:25.61 they're getting older and they have arthritis 00:18:25.62\00:18:27.48 as a natural process of aging, 00:18:27.49\00:18:29.36 there are some people that they're in 90's 00:18:29.37\00:18:30.80 that don't have arthritis. 00:18:30.81\00:18:32.15 We know some sanitarians and Adventists, 00:18:32.16\00:18:34.52 among Adventists they don't have arthritis 00:18:34.53\00:18:36.61 because they eat clean foods 00:18:36.62\00:18:39.44 and for the most part they're vegetarians, 00:18:39.45\00:18:41.41 in some cases they're vegans. 00:18:41.42\00:18:44.69 And the principle goes beyond even just pigs. 00:18:44.70\00:18:47.26 Think about it, the foods that 00:18:47.27\00:18:50.89 the Bible allows man to eat include clean animals. 00:18:50.90\00:18:55.16 Because those clean animals are not eating 00:18:55.17\00:18:56.90 other animals, they're not carnivores, 00:18:56.91\00:18:59.74 they're not scavengers. 00:18:59.75\00:19:01.47 And so the reason why pigs are there 00:19:01.48\00:19:04.77 is because first of all they're scavengers 00:19:04.78\00:19:06.21 but secondly they are a list of other things here 00:19:06.22\00:19:07.93 because they're not eating grass and leaves 00:19:07.94\00:19:12.39 and things that are converted into their flesh 00:19:12.40\00:19:16.45 which then we would if we're eating clean meat 00:19:16.46\00:19:20.37 that we would be taking into our bodies. 00:19:20.38\00:19:22.50 So, there's this principle there 00:19:22.51\00:19:24.54 and it goes even into the fish of the sea, 00:19:24.55\00:19:26.34 you know, don't eat lobsters 00:19:26.35\00:19:27.71 which are the cockroaches of the sea or shrimp. 00:19:27.72\00:19:32.17 From other fish, I mean, that's true. 00:19:32.18\00:19:34.55 This is exactly what happens 00:19:34.56\00:19:35.74 and so this is the principle 00:19:35.75\00:19:36.97 behind don't eat what is unclean. 00:19:36.98\00:19:40.36 Now there is something that I take 00:19:40.37\00:19:41.38 one exception with you on, John? 00:19:41.39\00:19:43.09 Go for it. You're ready? 00:19:43.10\00:19:44.40 There is no such thing as unclean food. 00:19:45.58\00:19:48.91 It's not even in the Bible. 00:19:50.16\00:19:52.91 Animals are clean or they're unclean. 00:19:52.92\00:19:56.46 God said you can eat for food clean animals, 00:19:56.47\00:19:59.92 He never said unclean animals are food. 00:19:59.93\00:20:03.84 So, when you say we can eat unclean foods 00:20:03.85\00:20:06.00 it's actually something that's never in the Bible, 00:20:06.01\00:20:08.02 unclean is never food, 00:20:08.03\00:20:10.03 it's never been food from the very beginning. 00:20:10.04\00:20:12.11 Did I say we could eat unclean foods? 00:20:12.12\00:20:13.68 I say these are the unclean-- No, people, 00:20:13.69\00:20:15.05 these are the unclean foods. 00:20:15.06\00:20:16.43 But the Bible doesn't use the word unclean foods. 00:20:16.44\00:20:18.55 Right. So, I'm just joking. 00:20:18.56\00:20:20.43 I know. In just here, but. I got you. 00:20:20.44\00:20:21.72 At the same time we have this mentality 00:20:21.73\00:20:23.39 that these are unclean foods, they're not, 00:20:23.40\00:20:24.75 they're unclean animals not for food. True. 00:20:24.76\00:20:27.68 And they have never been food from the very beginning, 00:20:27.69\00:20:30.17 from Genesis through Revelation 00:20:30.18\00:20:32.63 when you're talking about eating 00:20:32.64\00:20:34.84 the list of unclean animals are not even on the list. 00:20:34.85\00:20:38.76 So, you don't even see whether 00:20:38.77\00:20:40.17 the Old Testament or New Testament, 00:20:40.18\00:20:42.03 unclean foods. It's just not there. 00:20:42.04\00:20:43.71 You know, John you just gave me a Revelation 00:20:43.72\00:20:45.38 I appreciate that because lot of times 00:20:45.39\00:20:47.25 people look at these things and say, 00:20:47.26\00:20:48.78 these are unclean or cleaned foods, 00:20:50.63\00:20:53.25 to reiterate the point if it's unclean it's not food. 00:20:53.26\00:20:56.93 That's right. If it's clean 00:20:56.94\00:20:58.30 it was listed among the things you can eat. 00:20:58.31\00:21:00.88 These are the things that will always says you can eat. 00:21:00.89\00:21:03.43 Right. But the unclean 00:21:03.44\00:21:04.97 that's my sanitation department. 00:21:04.98\00:21:06.84 So, going back to the shells, the lobster, 00:21:06.85\00:21:08.22 the crab, shrimp the oysters, the muscles, 00:21:08.23\00:21:11.61 the octopus all those things are just, 00:21:11.62\00:21:13.81 they're the sanitation department of the ocean. 00:21:13.82\00:21:16.22 If there was no sanitation department in the ocean 00:21:16.23\00:21:18.82 it will be putrefying, 00:21:18.83\00:21:20.83 these animals are there to clean it up, 00:21:20.84\00:21:22.54 that's what God designed. 00:21:22.55\00:21:23.53 The other thing too is in Acts verses Chapter 10, 11 00:21:23.54\00:21:26.72 we know the story of Peter and the sheet comes down. 00:21:26.73\00:21:28.89 Good one. Full of unclean animals. 00:21:28.90\00:21:31.47 Right. And he says take and eat 00:21:31.48\00:21:34.04 and what is Peter's response. 00:21:34.05\00:21:36.24 I've never eat anything common or unclean. 00:21:36.25\00:21:39.12 Exactly in Acts 11 first ate no Lord not so I've never 00:21:39.13\00:21:43.64 let anything unclean enter my mouth. 00:21:43.65\00:21:46.83 Right. Even to that day anything 00:21:46.84\00:21:48.77 that's unclean does not entered his mouth why? 00:21:48.78\00:21:50.79 Because it's never been food. 00:21:50.80\00:21:52.66 And that's New Testament. 00:21:52.67\00:21:54.93 That's right, that's right. Very good. 00:21:54.94\00:21:56.72 I just want to get that point across 00:21:56.73\00:21:58.31 because people have this, this nomura kind of this, 00:21:58.32\00:22:01.38 this they don't really realize what they're saying 00:22:01.39\00:22:03.58 when they're saying unclean food, there, 00:22:03.59\00:22:04.97 there is no such thing as unclean foods. 00:22:04.98\00:22:07.19 Right. There is unclean, 00:22:07.20\00:22:08.46 there's clean and unclean animals. 00:22:08.47\00:22:10.68 The clean animals are possibilities for food 00:22:10.69\00:22:13.19 the unclean animals have never been food. 00:22:13.20\00:22:15.27 That's right, and I like that point 00:22:15.28\00:22:16.74 you brought up because when, when Peter said, 00:22:16.75\00:22:20.92 I've never eaten anything common or unclean, 00:22:20.93\00:22:23.97 there's this idea, John, that people say, 00:22:23.98\00:22:25.37 well I pray over it. 00:22:25.38\00:22:27.31 Well, why don't you pray over cyanide 00:22:27.32\00:22:28.90 before you drink it and see what happens. 00:22:28.91\00:22:31.74 Not being cynical but the point of matter 00:22:31.75\00:22:34.01 is pray does not change a direct command of God. 00:22:34.02\00:22:36.70 Prayer does not make a pig sanctified. 00:22:36.71\00:22:39.38 Prayer does not change the fact that it is a scavenger, 00:22:39.39\00:22:42.33 it doesn't make a difference. 00:22:42.34\00:22:44.27 Now there are some people, 00:22:44.28\00:22:45.31 I know this to be true that they say, 00:22:45.32\00:22:47.66 well, when I clean the shrimp 00:22:47.67\00:22:50.35 I take that little black thing out of it 00:22:50.36\00:22:53.48 and they think that that's the only thing that's unclean. 00:22:53.49\00:22:56.21 Where the animal itself that's unclean, 00:22:56.22\00:22:58.62 it's like saying well you know, that, 00:22:58.63\00:23:01.35 that when we put the thief in jail, 00:23:01.36\00:23:03.88 no we didn't put the thief in jail 00:23:03.89\00:23:05.24 we would just put the tools 00:23:05.25\00:23:06.28 he uses to break nto houses in jail. 00:23:06.29\00:23:08.89 Right. But he's thief you see, 00:23:08.90\00:23:11.72 and in the same way these animals are unclean 00:23:11.73\00:23:15.10 everything about them, 00:23:15.11\00:23:16.41 that's why their shells that are like little garbage cans, 00:23:16.42\00:23:19.73 that's why they're not designed to eat. 00:23:19.74\00:23:21.25 So, I pray that your desire is to glorify God 00:23:21.26\00:23:26.25 and if it is, whether you eat or drink 00:23:26.26\00:23:28.96 or what ever you do, do all to the glory of God, 00:23:28.97\00:23:30.81 your body doesn't belong to you 00:23:30.82\00:23:32.63 and the Lord made that very, very clear. 00:23:32.64\00:23:34.38 Okay, yours, John. 00:23:34.39\00:23:36.30 Next question here comes from Ben. 00:23:36.31\00:23:38.49 Two questions, both start with what calendar? 00:23:39.81\00:23:43.17 What calendar was Jesus using at His time 00:23:43.18\00:23:45.98 here on earth with us? 00:23:45.99\00:23:48.08 Well, we, we must assume it's God's calendar 00:23:48.09\00:23:50.90 first of all and God's calendar as given to the Jews 00:23:50.91\00:23:54.49 was comprised of 12, 30 day, months. 00:23:54.50\00:23:59.90 And then there was some things added to that 00:23:59.91\00:24:01.72 to round out the year but this calendar 00:24:01.73\00:24:04.51 that He used I am sure was the Jewish calendar 00:24:04.52\00:24:08.28 and not necessarily the Roman calendar that, 00:24:08.29\00:24:11.49 that was being used by the Romans in that day. 00:24:11.50\00:24:13.83 The mind of Christ was always on God 00:24:13.84\00:24:15.90 and what God's design was, even the prophecies 00:24:15.91\00:24:18.98 throughout scripture are based upon 00:24:18.99\00:24:21.48 God's calendar 360 days to a year, 12 months, 00:24:21.49\00:24:26.04 12 months full of 30 days each month. 00:24:26.05\00:24:29.66 Now, the second question here 00:24:29.67\00:24:31.61 is what calendar did God give man to keep the Sabbath? 00:24:31.62\00:24:35.11 And I think, I'm gonna try 00:24:35.12\00:24:36.25 and read into this a little bit, John, 00:24:36.26\00:24:37.64 because there is a little confusion out there today. 00:24:37.65\00:24:39.45 All right. About at least a very small group 00:24:39.46\00:24:43.26 is starting to throw out there as a possibility. 00:24:43.27\00:24:47.68 But first of all a simple answer, 00:24:47.69\00:24:50.18 the calendar guide man to keep, 00:24:50.19\00:24:52.21 God gave man to keep the Sabbath 00:24:52.22\00:24:53.74 was the weekly cycle. 00:24:53.75\00:24:57.17 So, each of the calendars is broken down by weeks 00:24:57.18\00:25:00.16 if you look at your calendar, 00:25:00.17\00:25:01.14 go to your calendar you look that there is a several weeks 00:25:01.15\00:25:04.61 in that month and each one is broken down by seven days 00:25:04.62\00:25:07.73 and that seven days comes from creation. 00:25:07.74\00:25:11.49 First day, second day, third day, 00:25:11.50\00:25:13.34 up through the seventh day which God 00:25:13.35\00:25:15.76 then blessed as the Sabbath day. 00:25:15.77\00:25:17.97 And that is continued on even till today, 00:25:17.98\00:25:19.61 the only reason we have a week 00:25:19.62\00:25:21.68 that is seven days long is because of creation, 00:25:21.69\00:25:24.47 there is no solar, there is no lunar, 00:25:24.48\00:25:27.59 there is no any kind of rotation 00:25:27.60\00:25:29.94 around the sun once a year, there is nothing like that, 00:25:29.95\00:25:33.92 that moves us or compels us to keep the Sabbath, 00:25:33.93\00:25:38.55 it's only the fact that is a creation week, seven days. 00:25:38.56\00:25:43.07 Now, I am reading into this, saying this, John, 00:25:43.08\00:25:45.38 some are actually advocating today 00:25:45.39\00:25:47.31 that the Sabbath day shifts according to the lunar cycle. 00:25:47.32\00:25:51.42 So, in a way they keep 00:25:52.94\00:25:54.16 kind of a lunar solar combination cycle 00:25:54.17\00:25:58.87 which is that there is a 24 hour cycle 00:25:58.88\00:26:02.30 that follows the rotation of the earth 00:26:02.31\00:26:05.35 and where the sun rises and sets 00:26:05.36\00:26:07.79 and then there is a day, the shifting of days 00:26:07.80\00:26:10.74 along with a lunar calendar or that the moon and it's, 00:26:10.75\00:26:14.71 it's rotation or at least it's cycle. 00:26:14.72\00:26:17.63 And so I, I've looked at the information on this, 00:26:17.64\00:26:23.11 I know the people are very strong in compelling 00:26:23.12\00:26:25.51 or I would even say confusing minds 00:26:25.52\00:26:27.59 with regard to this but God from the very beginning 00:26:27.60\00:26:30.24 is established the weekly cycle for keeping the Sabbath 00:26:30.25\00:26:34.21 and never has he established or used or causes to shift 00:26:34.22\00:26:37.20 that Sabbath according to the moon in it's cycle. 00:26:37.21\00:26:40.72 So, there is no change of, you know, 00:26:40.73\00:26:42.63 there is no laws of calendar, 00:26:42.64\00:26:45.37 there is no new institution, 00:26:45.38\00:26:48.14 I am always amazed by the fact 00:26:48.15\00:26:50.26 that if you said to somebody we get paid on, 00:26:50.27\00:26:53.70 on the sixth day of the week, 00:26:53.71\00:26:56.05 everybody will show up on Friday, 00:26:56.06\00:26:58.31 do you know what it is? 00:26:58.32\00:26:59.40 It's like one of the Sabbath happens 00:26:59.41\00:27:01.03 people are concerned oh! What day is that? 00:27:01.04\00:27:05.25 Many attempts have been made to explain the Sabbath away, 00:27:05.26\00:27:07.50 the fact of the matter is it's still a sign between God 00:27:07.51\00:27:10.50 and His people and it still remains sanctified 00:27:10.51\00:27:14.96 and holy to the Lord. 00:27:14.97\00:27:17.23 So, honor the Sabbath as you honor 00:27:17.24\00:27:19.45 the other nine commandments. 00:27:19.46\00:27:21.00 But you can only do that if you love the Lord, 00:27:21.01\00:27:23.26 thank you for your question. 00:27:23.27\00:27:24.85 Lastly, this, this, this one in Judges, 00:27:24.86\00:27:26.74 John, I've to read this one. 00:27:26.75\00:27:29.25 John and John, Judges 11 verse 30 to 39. 00:27:29.26\00:27:33.51 "As I understand or as I understood 00:27:33.52\00:27:36.59 God is against human sacrifices. 00:27:36.60\00:27:39.26 My questions are more difficult 00:27:39.27\00:27:40.79 so obviously never addressed by you folks. 00:27:40.80\00:27:43.49 Okay the things we have, 00:27:43.50\00:27:44.83 we don't ask difficult questions, 00:27:44.84\00:27:46.58 I guess that's what I get from you, 00:27:46.59\00:27:47.71 let me read the story, and I guess the question 00:27:47.72\00:27:49.92 is what is this all about? 00:27:49.93\00:27:52.38 Well, let me give you a couple of things here, 00:27:52.39\00:27:55.32 the story is about Jephthah who made a vow to the Lord, 00:27:55.33\00:28:00.84 if the Lord will deliver them, 00:28:00.85\00:28:02.81 let me just read Judges 11verse 30, 00:28:02.82\00:28:04.87 "And Jephthah made a vow to the Lord, and said, 00:28:06.23\00:28:08.90 "If You will indeed deliver the people 00:28:08.91\00:28:12.17 of Ammon into my hands, 00:28:12.18\00:28:14.07 then it will be that whatever comes out 00:28:14.08\00:28:17.20 of the doors of my house to meet me, 00:28:17.21\00:28:19.86 when I return in peace from the people of Ammon, 00:28:19.87\00:28:22.99 shall surely be the LORD's, 00:28:23.00\00:28:24.69 and I will offer it up as a burnt offering." 00:28:25.97\00:28:29.33 Now, giving you an example 00:28:29.34\00:28:31.24 this is not the first time in the Bible 00:28:32.33\00:28:33.98 that a burnt offering was talked about being a human, 00:28:33.99\00:28:36.88 remember the story of Abraham, 00:28:36.89\00:28:38.39 he was willing, the Lord says offer your son Isaac, 00:28:40.03\00:28:43.67 the Lord was willing to, 00:28:43.68\00:28:45.11 He was willing to test Abraham in that way. 00:28:45.12\00:28:47.39 Now, was God saying 00:28:47.40\00:28:48.52 that He wants humans to be sacrificed. 00:28:48.53\00:28:51.33 Well in the story of Abraham and Isaac, 00:28:51.34\00:28:52.94 you noticed that Isaac wasn't sacrificed, 00:28:52.95\00:28:55.82 the Lord provided the Lord wanted to see 00:28:55.83\00:28:57.82 his willingness to do that. 00:28:57.83\00:29:00.18 What makes this story different 00:29:00.19\00:29:01.50 and as the story ends he ask Jephthah 00:29:01.51\00:29:03.84 ends up sacrificing his daughter 00:29:05.07\00:29:08.44 but remember what He said here and this is something 00:29:08.45\00:29:10.51 that so important, He says in verse 35 at the end, 00:29:10.52\00:29:16.49 let me just cut and read the rest of it, 00:29:16.50\00:29:18.10 He says at the very end he says, 00:29:18.11\00:29:19.73 "For I have given my word to the Lord, 00:29:19.74\00:29:23.56 and I cannot go back on it." 00:29:23.57\00:29:27.20 In the book of Ecclesiastics He says, 00:29:27.21\00:29:29.26 it's better not to vow than to vow and not to pay, 00:29:29.27\00:29:33.62 do not allow your mouth to cause your flesh to sin. 00:29:33.63\00:29:37.67 And the people of God took that very seriously you know, 00:29:37.68\00:29:40.78 we have this phrase nowadays or used to have this phrase, 00:29:40.79\00:29:43.27 where it goes this way, my word is my bond. 00:29:43.28\00:29:46.30 Get yes be yes to Bible says 00:29:46.31\00:29:48.15 let your yes be yes and your no be no, 00:29:48.16\00:29:50.14 they took that very seriously 00:29:50.15\00:29:51.53 and then also his daughter said 00:29:51.54\00:29:54.75 if you made this agreement with God 00:29:54.76\00:29:56.48 you better go and follow through it 00:29:56.49\00:29:57.67 because God follow through on his, 00:29:57.68\00:30:00.76 God did deliver you from Ammon, 00:30:00.77\00:30:02.61 God did deliver the people. 00:30:02.62\00:30:04.23 And so this was more so the vow 00:30:04.24\00:30:05.82 that Jephthah made to God 00:30:05.83\00:30:08.45 and his daughter went along with it and he ended up 00:30:08.46\00:30:10.76 sacrificing her as a burnt offering to the Lord. 00:30:10.77\00:30:13.64 And you know what, the Lord did not reject him. 00:30:13.65\00:30:16.13 The Lord honored his sacrifice 00:30:16.14\00:30:17.90 but the Lord was not the one that established this, 00:30:17.91\00:30:20.23 if you look at the rest of it here it says 00:30:20.24\00:30:22.72 in the end of verse 39. 00:30:22.73\00:30:24.17 And it became a custom in Israel, 00:30:24.18\00:30:26.21 now what became a custom in Israel, 00:30:26.22\00:30:28.96 the custom that was established in Israel 00:30:28.97\00:30:30.78 was not so much the burning of the children 00:30:30.79\00:30:33.04 because if you remember very carefully the Lord says, 00:30:33.05\00:30:35.58 do not allow your children to pass through the fire. 00:30:35.59\00:30:40.41 And that was the forbidding, God was saying no, 00:30:40.42\00:30:42.59 I don't want your children to be sacrificed. 00:30:42.60\00:30:44.71 This was an isolated experience here 00:30:44.72\00:30:47.07 and isolated incident that God didn't ordain 00:30:47.08\00:30:50.31 that God didn't require but the Jephthah, 00:30:50.32\00:30:52.81 made a vow to God, 00:30:52.82\00:30:54.17 he and his daughter were in harmony 00:30:54.18\00:30:55.65 with carrying through this. 00:30:55.66\00:30:56.78 Since God lived up to his part. 00:30:56.79\00:30:59.10 And that was simply that's what it, 00:30:59.11\00:31:00.24 that's it was but on the, on the bigger end. 00:31:00.25\00:31:03.81 They knew that whenever you promise something to God. 00:31:03.82\00:31:06.80 You must follow through on that promise 00:31:06.81\00:31:08.86 and that's why his honor was really at stake here. 00:31:08.87\00:31:11.51 I've given God my word, and I cannot go back on it. 00:31:11.52\00:31:14.96 And it says in Verse 39, and, 00:31:14.97\00:31:17.81 and it was so at the end of two months, 00:31:17.82\00:31:20.22 that she returned to her father 00:31:20.23\00:31:22.08 and he carried out his vow with her, 00:31:22.09\00:31:26.90 which he had vowed. 00:31:26.91\00:31:28.63 And so he made this vow, 00:31:28.64\00:31:30.08 and she allowed him to carry the vow out. 00:31:30.09\00:31:32.32 The sad thing was it was his only daughter which meant, 00:31:32.33\00:31:36.47 what happens if your family lying right there. Yeah. 00:31:36.48\00:31:38.97 Yeah, a very sad situation 00:31:38.98\00:31:40.37 but also I think the principle, 00:31:40.38\00:31:41.64 the whole thing being taught here is not the sacrifice. 00:31:41.65\00:31:43.99 The whole thing being taught here 00:31:44.00\00:31:45.09 is that the vow that we make to God is very, 00:31:45.10\00:31:47.68 very scared, it is something 00:31:47.69\00:31:49.77 that we must follow through with. 00:31:49.78\00:31:52.23 And we find today over and over again, 00:31:52.24\00:31:54.13 I mean you see situations where, 00:31:54.14\00:31:55.88 I hear stories where someone has made a vow 00:31:55.89\00:31:59.10 to the Lord and has just kind of acted 00:31:59.11\00:32:01.74 as if they had never made that vow. 00:32:01.75\00:32:05.61 One common one, John, as you hear people 00:32:05.62\00:32:07.59 that get into trouble they're facing death. 00:32:07.60\00:32:09.77 And they will say Lord 00:32:09.78\00:32:11.71 if you just get me out of this one 00:32:11.72\00:32:13.70 I will serve you forever and I promise that. 00:32:13.71\00:32:17.68 It's a vow they made, 00:32:17.69\00:32:18.80 when we say I promise it's like a vow being made. 00:32:18.81\00:32:22.21 And they're saved God delivers them 00:32:22.22\00:32:25.43 and what do they do? 00:32:25.44\00:32:26.60 They just go back to life as usual. 00:32:26.61\00:32:28.70 And I think they're standing with God 00:32:28.71\00:32:31.23 from that point on is worse than it had been 00:32:31.24\00:32:33.91 before they made that vow because a vow 00:32:33.92\00:32:36.55 he will hold them accountable for. 00:32:36.56\00:32:38.82 So, just an important principle here. 00:32:38.83\00:32:41.03 As a matter of fact, 00:32:41.04\00:32:42.02 reads as follows. 00:32:42.03\00:32:44.53 When you make a vow to the Lord 00:32:44.54\00:32:45.75 your God you not shall delay to pay it. 00:32:45.76\00:32:49.36 For the Lord your God will surely require it of you 00:32:49.37\00:32:52.87 and it would be sin to you. 00:32:52.88\00:32:55.97 Lastly Ecclesiastes 5 verse 4 the verse I just eluded too. 00:32:55.98\00:33:00.30 When you make a vow to God do not delay to pay it 00:33:00.31\00:33:02.99 for He has no pleasure in fools, 00:33:03.00\00:33:05.38 pay what you have vowed. 00:33:05.39\00:33:07.09 It is better not to vow than to vow, 00:33:07.10\00:33:08.92 not to pay and they knew that. 00:33:08.93\00:33:10.77 So when they made that promise 00:33:10.78\00:33:12.47 it's almost like what did I just, 00:33:12.48\00:33:14.05 what did I just say? 00:33:14.06\00:33:15.73 Whoever comes out of my house 00:33:15.74\00:33:17.13 I'm going to sacrifice to the Lord? 00:33:17.14\00:33:19.37 Lord is my daughter and He follow through on it 00:33:19.38\00:33:23.88 because his honor to God was more important 00:33:23.89\00:33:26.72 than his daughter and on top of that 00:33:26.73\00:33:30.47 he did not do against the will, 00:33:30.48\00:33:32.10 she agreed with Him to follow through. 00:33:32.11\00:33:33.81 And ultimately go beyond this, 00:33:33.82\00:33:36.79 he and his daughter both honoring God 00:33:36.80\00:33:40.10 are resurrected and live eternally. 00:33:40.11\00:33:43.24 So in the big picture the loss isn't eternal. 00:33:43.25\00:33:48.02 True. The loss is temporary and a great loss. 00:33:48.03\00:33:50.80 I'm not suggesting that it's not. 00:33:50.81\00:33:52.28 Right. But in the over all scheme of things 00:33:52.29\00:33:54.26 if their mind is right with God 00:33:54.27\00:33:55.59 and it clearly was here in this case, 00:33:55.60\00:33:57.28 there will be a time 00:33:58.54\00:33:59.51 when he would see his daughter again. 00:33:59.52\00:34:00.77 That's right. 00:34:00.78\00:34:02.41 Well that's the end of our questions, 00:34:02.42\00:34:04.15 we took a little longer time today 00:34:04.16\00:34:05.56 but thank you for your questions and comments. 00:34:05.57\00:34:07.63 If you have any more questions or comments 00:34:07.64\00:34:09.46 about what we've talked about here today 00:34:09.47\00:34:10.63 or something else on your mind, 00:34:10.64\00:34:12.31 send those to housecalls@3abn.org 00:34:12.32\00:34:16.20 that's housecalls@3abn.org 00:34:16.21\00:34:19.92 and we will get back to you as soon as we possibly can. 00:34:19.93\00:34:23.22 Thank you so much for all you do for this ministry 00:34:23.23\00:34:26.91 as well as for the advancement of God's cause in the earth. 00:34:26.92\00:34:31.86 John take us to our topic today. 00:34:31.87\00:34:33.99 Well we've been talking about the topic 00:34:34.00\00:34:37.62 the series title is "Why So Many Denominations?" 00:34:37.63\00:34:40.51 we've been talking about how 00:34:40.52\00:34:42.26 those denominations came about, 00:34:42.27\00:34:45.15 those who are first couple programs 00:34:45.16\00:34:47.68 or last couple of programs 00:34:47.69\00:34:48.84 we dealt with two very large 00:34:48.85\00:34:50.34 denominations around the world. 00:34:50.35\00:34:52.52 One is Roman Catholicism, one is Baptist, 00:34:52.53\00:34:54.83 the Baptist Church and it's many churches 00:34:54.84\00:34:58.45 they're Congregationalists in structure 00:34:58.46\00:35:00.06 and so there are many kinds of Baptist churches 00:35:00.07\00:35:02.40 and they have some scuttle differences of opinions 00:35:02.41\00:35:06.02 within those Baptist churches. 00:35:06.03\00:35:07.13 But, we talked about the ones 00:35:07.14\00:35:08.28 that are most common to them. 00:35:08.29\00:35:09.78 Now, we're going to get into, 00:35:09.79\00:35:11.03 in our last two programs here. 00:35:11.04\00:35:13.66 Some other denominations. 00:35:13.67\00:35:16.03 Right. And their beliefs 00:35:16.04\00:35:18.57 and we'll find out some commonality, 00:35:18.58\00:35:20.87 there are some similar commonalities 00:35:20.88\00:35:22.55 but also some may be different scuttle different differences 00:35:22.56\00:35:25.28 than what we exposed or at least shared 00:35:25.29\00:35:28.20 that the Roman Catholic Church has 00:35:28.21\00:35:29.89 and the Baptist church has and then in the next program 00:35:29.90\00:35:33.18 we'll cover a couple of churches 00:35:33.19\00:35:34.33 that say they are Christian and we'll figure out 00:35:34.34\00:35:36.65 really if they are living in harmony 00:35:36.66\00:35:38.46 with the word of God. 00:35:38.47\00:35:39.44 All right. One of the reasons 00:35:39.45\00:35:40.42 why were we refer to these churches 00:35:40.43\00:35:42.42 as being Christian is because the highest 00:35:42.43\00:35:47.48 or the most obvious believes 00:35:47.49\00:35:50.43 that qualify you as Christian are there. 00:35:50.44\00:35:53.20 And we've shared those common ones 00:35:53.21\00:35:55.91 amongst most of these denominations 00:35:55.92\00:35:57.50 which is the God head living in the three in one, 00:35:57.51\00:36:01.29 God the Father, God the Son, God the Holy Spirit. 00:36:01.30\00:36:04.41 We find also that they believe. 00:36:04.42\00:36:08.01 The inspiration of God. In the inspiration 00:36:08.02\00:36:09.37 of scripture, we also find that they believe in. 00:36:09.38\00:36:13.33 Obedience to God. Obedience to God. 00:36:14.92\00:36:16.66 Thank you for helping me on these. 00:36:16.67\00:36:18.61 And beyond that though you started 00:36:18.62\00:36:20.87 to getting some scuttle differences of opinion. 00:36:20.88\00:36:23.12 So we'll share some of those differences 00:36:23.13\00:36:24.47 and the couple that will cover this time 00:36:24.48\00:36:26.88 are the Lutheran Church and the Methodist Church, 00:36:26.89\00:36:30.35 the Pentecostal Church. 00:36:30.36\00:36:32.07 And there is a new church that is, 00:36:32.08\00:36:34.14 it's been growing, you see these, 00:36:34.15\00:36:35.77 these rooms kind of around some of your neighborhoods 00:36:37.00\00:36:39.16 the Christian signs rooms, 00:36:39.17\00:36:41.22 but Christian scientist will share a few things 00:36:41.23\00:36:43.36 they, have some definite differences 00:36:43.37\00:36:45.84 of opinion with regard to-- 00:36:45.85\00:36:47.69 Okay. To beliefs in God's word. 00:36:47.70\00:36:49.49 So, anyway John, I want you launch us 00:36:49.50\00:36:52.01 into our first one here. 00:36:52.02\00:36:54.15 Well, first of all let's talk about Lutherans. 00:36:54.16\00:36:56.36 Well, if when you hear the word Lutheran 00:36:56.37\00:36:58.18 you right away think, Luther, Luther, Martin Luther. 00:36:58.19\00:37:02.57 Well, Martin Luther, was, is noted 00:37:02.58\00:37:05.51 as one of the foremost reformers 00:37:05.52\00:37:08.16 of the Protestant Reformation. 00:37:08.17\00:37:10.06 The one who launched the Reformation 00:37:10.07\00:37:13.49 against the Roman Catholic Church in his 95 thesis, 00:37:13.50\00:37:17.34 you can actually go to the Internet. 00:37:17.35\00:37:19.20 And get a copy of that and read 00:37:19.21\00:37:20.45 what those 95 objections were. 00:37:20.46\00:37:24.81 But one of the things that's to be often noted about the, 00:37:24.82\00:37:29.74 the Lutheran church or movement 00:37:29.75\00:37:32.45 is they don't necessarily adhere to all the principles 00:37:32.46\00:37:36.63 and precepts that Martin Luther upheld. 00:37:36.64\00:37:39.84 So some of the things I use this phrase before, 00:37:39.85\00:37:43.28 some of the things that they embrace 00:37:43.29\00:37:45.20 survive the filtration but. 00:37:45.21\00:37:49.23 It's been the filtration in case they. 00:37:49.24\00:37:50.85 In other words, what they mean by, 00:37:50.86\00:37:52.20 what I mean by that is some things 00:37:52.21\00:37:53.63 that were practiced in Catholicism made it 00:37:53.64\00:37:55.97 through the strainer of Protestantism 00:37:55.98\00:37:58.32 and continued to be, made it through 00:37:58.33\00:38:00.66 the reformation that continued to be honored 00:38:00.67\00:38:02.19 by the Protestant churches all though 00:38:02.20\00:38:03.99 they were protesting in their early stages. 00:38:04.00\00:38:06.94 One of those is Baptism by sprinkling, 00:38:06.95\00:38:11.62 Lutheran's embrace that. 00:38:11.63\00:38:13.48 Well, that doesn't need much explanations 00:38:13.49\00:38:15.57 clearly baptism by sprinkling, 00:38:15.58\00:38:17.02 sprinkle rather than full immersion another one 00:38:17.03\00:38:20.41 they believe in the immortality of the soul. 00:38:20.42\00:38:23.07 Talked about teaching embraced and taught 00:38:23.08\00:38:25.86 by the Roman Catholic Church also. 00:38:25.87\00:38:28.28 They believe in Sunday sacredness, 00:38:28.29\00:38:31.46 that Sunday is the Holy day of the work week 00:38:31.47\00:38:34.77 or a holy day of the week for the Christians. 00:38:34.78\00:38:36.81 And you can find that, that is the common one, 00:38:36.82\00:38:39.70 John, by the way, among most Christian churches. 00:38:39.71\00:38:42.92 They say, well, 00:38:42.93\00:38:44.93 the Sabbath is the Seventh-day of the week. 00:38:44.94\00:38:47.25 That is kept by Jews and Seventh-day Adventist. 00:38:47.26\00:38:50.19 However Sunday is the Christian Sabbath. 00:38:50.20\00:38:53.07 Well, you know, what's strange 00:38:53.08\00:38:54.05 about the word Christian Sabbath, 00:38:54.06\00:38:56.45 is just as strange as unclean foods. 00:38:56.46\00:39:00.17 Since you just started that thing, John. 00:39:00.18\00:39:01.94 Unclean foods as a phrase and Christian Sabbath 00:39:01.95\00:39:06.69 as a phrase or the Sabbath of the first day of the week 00:39:06.70\00:39:11.38 is an odd oxymoron, 00:39:11.39\00:39:14.00 because the Sabbath never was 00:39:14.01\00:39:16.10 and never can be the first day of the week. 00:39:16.11\00:39:19.84 And so saying it's a Christian day of worship 00:39:19.85\00:39:22.59 doesn't say that Christ ordained it 00:39:22.60\00:39:25.53 that's why it's an oxymoron. 00:39:25.54\00:39:26.96 Christian Sabbath is Saturday because Christ honored, 00:39:26.97\00:39:31.05 established, and observed 00:39:31.06\00:39:34.34 as His custom was when he was here on the earth. 00:39:34.35\00:39:37.19 And it's simple one of the Ten Commandments. 00:39:37.20\00:39:38.88 Lutherans also believe in church and state relations. 00:39:40.42\00:39:46.21 They believe in strong cooperation 00:39:46.22\00:39:48.21 between church and state. 00:39:48.22\00:39:49.45 One of the things that's really pointed out 00:39:51.38\00:39:54.33 constitutionally and this is a great argument 00:39:54.34\00:39:57.16 in the political circles nowadays. 00:39:57.17\00:39:59.36 Is that the church shouldn't influence the state 00:39:59.37\00:40:02.40 and the state, sorry 00:40:02.41\00:40:03.99 the state shouldn't influence the church 00:40:04.00\00:40:06.40 and the church shouldn't appeal to the state. 00:40:06.41\00:40:09.41 To enforce its daugmatisn and his spiritual principles 00:40:09.42\00:40:12.13 or its doctrines, but you find that the more 00:40:12.14\00:40:15.22 we get closer to the end. 00:40:15.23\00:40:17.54 The more and more the churches appealing 00:40:17.55\00:40:19.28 to this to the state 00:40:19.29\00:40:21.24 since you've all this moral movements, 00:40:21.25\00:40:23.14 the moral majority, the Christian coalition 00:40:23.15\00:40:25.62 and all these mega, mega movements 00:40:25.63\00:40:26.87 that are trying to get to States to support 00:40:26.88\00:40:29.30 what the churches believe. 00:40:29.31\00:40:30.95 And this is something that we looked at, 00:40:30.96\00:40:33.22 when we looked at Baptist. 00:40:33.23\00:40:34.86 They would believe in a strong separation. Right. 00:40:34.87\00:40:37.29 Of Church and state, at least on a whole, 00:40:37.30\00:40:38.53 most of them do, 00:40:38.54\00:40:39.93 whereas Lutherans are opposite. Right. 00:40:39.94\00:40:41.53 They believe in a strong coalition or cooperation 00:40:41.54\00:40:44.51 which really comes from Rome. 00:40:44.52\00:40:46.49 The Church of the Romans, itself was very, very much 00:40:46.50\00:40:48.92 used to being connected with 00:40:48.93\00:40:51.14 and in fact even providing oversight 00:40:51.15\00:40:53.55 for civil authority. 00:40:53.56\00:40:55.46 So this is something that carries 00:40:55.47\00:40:57.16 right on down through Lutheran's. 00:40:57.17\00:40:59.16 Now, I like, I do like the word 00:40:59.17\00:41:00.37 that you've used filtering 00:41:00.38\00:41:02.15 because the reformation was suppose to be this filter 00:41:02.16\00:41:06.69 or this swifter so to speak. Right. 00:41:06.70\00:41:09.08 And as the doctrines of Rome will put in this swifter 00:41:09.09\00:41:13.55 there were some that still got through. 00:41:13.56\00:41:16.92 And each Church as it continued to develop 00:41:16.93\00:41:19.69 or be creative, In other words 00:41:19.70\00:41:21.32 the denominations over and over again 00:41:21.33\00:41:22.96 began to create. 00:41:22.97\00:41:23.94 They picked and they chose, which ones they chose, 00:41:23.95\00:41:27.42 which ones that they wanted to follow 00:41:27.43\00:41:31.13 and many of them were the very ones 00:41:31.14\00:41:33.81 that Rome initiated. Right. 00:41:33.82\00:41:35.99 And so but we'll find throughout all of them 00:41:36.00\00:41:39.52 some major themes, that they all believe 00:41:39.53\00:41:42.62 in immortality of the soul. That's right. 00:41:42.63\00:41:44.98 And they all believe in Sunday sacredness, 00:41:44.99\00:41:48.01 those are the two that absolutely survived 00:41:48.02\00:41:50.74 every single filter and are still passed down 00:41:50.75\00:41:53.06 to every single denomination with the exception of, 00:41:53.07\00:41:58.06 Seventh-day Adventist, church, Seventh-day baptism 00:41:58.07\00:42:00.24 and they are actually quite a few other Seventh-day 00:42:00.25\00:42:02.81 keeping denominations out there. Right. 00:42:02.82\00:42:05.43 And that do believe in the Sabbath as taught 00:42:05.44\00:42:08.74 by the word of the God. 00:42:08.75\00:42:09.72 So--One of the other things that Lutheran's hold onto 00:42:09.73\00:42:12.14 is the consubstantiation of Christ. 00:42:12.15\00:42:15.05 In other words they mean that during the communion 00:42:15.06\00:42:18.12 they feel that, that's actually Christ. Yeah. 00:42:18.13\00:42:20.72 And that word mostly use 00:42:20.73\00:42:21.83 now days is transubstantiation. Right. 00:42:21.84\00:42:23.98 It was consubstantiation now, transubstantiation, 00:42:23.99\00:42:27.10 but that the literal presence of Christ is alive 00:42:27.11\00:42:29.40 and well, it's the conversion of communion 00:42:29.41\00:42:33.26 wafer to the body of the Christ. 00:42:33.27\00:42:35.43 And the one thing that Lutheran's don't hold to 00:42:35.44\00:42:39.77 is something that is held to by let's go ahead 00:42:39.78\00:42:43.63 and transition to the Methodist now. 00:42:43.64\00:42:47.91 Methodist, the name being used 00:42:47.92\00:42:52.72 by its founder establishing the Methodist movement, 00:42:53.98\00:42:56.69 John Wesley, the common doctrines 00:42:56.70\00:43:00.78 that are held you know, they believe in God head 00:43:00.79\00:43:03.10 Salvation by grace, 00:43:03.11\00:43:04.72 emphasis on holy misscantification 00:43:04.73\00:43:06.49 growing in grace. 00:43:06.50\00:43:07.99 They reject eternal torment and that's is, 00:43:08.00\00:43:11.08 that's a wonderful one that the Lutherans' don't reject. 00:43:11.09\00:43:15.84 And also they celebrate the Lord's Supper 00:43:15.85\00:43:21.21 but the things that they have 00:43:21.22\00:43:23.26 that are not supported by Bible. 00:43:23.27\00:43:25.15 Why don't you go to some of those for us, John? 00:43:25.16\00:43:27.97 Yeah and we'll again we're going hear 00:43:27.98\00:43:29.06 some of the same ones. 00:43:29.07\00:43:31.06 They actually reject a literal second coming 00:43:31.07\00:43:33.72 which is interesting. 00:43:33.73\00:43:34.82 Yeah, put it-- Because there is 00:43:34.83\00:43:35.94 so much in the word of God, 00:43:35.95\00:43:36.94 about the second coming of Christ 00:43:36.95\00:43:38.74 and the resurrection as the same event. Right. 00:43:38.75\00:43:41.56 Really culminating, or ending the age of this earth 00:43:41.57\00:43:46.56 at least in its sinful state and allows us 00:43:46.57\00:43:49.52 then to enter into heaven with Christ. 00:43:49.53\00:43:52.44 Who will take us there? 00:43:52.45\00:43:54.35 Immortality of the soul, Sunday sacredness, 00:43:54.36\00:43:56.64 of course, those two we've already explained 00:43:56.65\00:43:58.46 or carried right on through. 00:43:58.47\00:44:00.12 They do also believe in infant baptism, 00:44:00.13\00:44:01.90 which is a something that, 00:44:01.91\00:44:05.41 that we find is a little problematic 00:44:05.42\00:44:08.06 when it comes to God's word. 00:44:08.07\00:44:09.85 And here is the other thing that, 00:44:09.86\00:44:10.99 this is interesting because then we start to delve 00:44:11.00\00:44:13.94 into this realm were some churches 00:44:13.95\00:44:15.71 have been treading. 00:44:15.72\00:44:17.78 Which is no longer believing in solo scriptura. Right. 00:44:17.79\00:44:21.93 It's the start that 00:44:21.94\00:44:23.57 well, the scripture is been around 00:44:23.58\00:44:25.37 for so long and there's got to be 00:44:25.38\00:44:26.86 some errors in throughout time. 00:44:26.87\00:44:29.21 It's just, it's got to happen. 00:44:29.22\00:44:31.17 And so they reject some aspects 00:44:31.18\00:44:33.98 at least many of them do, the authority of the Bible, 00:44:33.99\00:44:37.05 and I'm not saying all of them do 00:44:37.06\00:44:38.16 because there's some differences 00:44:38.17\00:44:39.17 of opinion within the Methodist church itself. 00:44:39.18\00:44:41.72 But to some of them 00:44:41.73\00:44:42.70 definitely do reject that aspect of scripture, 00:44:42.71\00:44:45.84 which is, wow, I mean if the word of God 00:44:45.85\00:44:49.49 is a lamp unto our feet and a light unto our path. 00:44:49.50\00:44:52.50 You really could argue, you know, what a challenge 00:44:52.51\00:44:54.64 it would be for some of who rejects the thought 00:44:54.65\00:44:57.01 of the Bible to even find their way. 00:44:57.02\00:44:59.19 that, that would cause. 00:45:01.70\00:45:02.67 So that's something else that we see as very problematic. 00:45:02.68\00:45:08.34 And the reason why they have that position is 00:45:08.35\00:45:11.16 because they believe that the Bible is a traditionally 00:45:11.17\00:45:14.63 and culturally conditioned, meaning, 00:45:14.64\00:45:19.36 I believe it's the word of God 00:45:19.37\00:45:20.45 but is it really the word of God. 00:45:20.46\00:45:24.63 All those words of men, the words of a cultured. 00:45:24.64\00:45:29.16 So, that's what causes there to be serious doubts 00:45:29.17\00:45:32.64 about the inspiration of the Bible. 00:45:32.65\00:45:35.53 You know, it's amazing to accept the Bible 00:45:35.54\00:45:36.76 but not accept its inspiration. 00:45:36.77\00:45:39.14 When the Bible itself says, 00:45:39.15\00:45:40.32 all scripture's given by inspiration of God 00:45:40.33\00:45:42.77 so you got to even reject that scripture. 00:45:42.78\00:45:45.39 You see, you received the Bible 00:45:45.40\00:45:47.19 but you have to reject the scripture 00:45:47.20\00:45:48.30 that's in the scriptures because that scripture says 00:45:48.31\00:45:51.16 all scriptures given by inspiration of God. 00:45:51.17\00:45:53.70 But in fact the other thing that is also embraced 00:45:53.71\00:45:57.67 by the Methodists is infant baptism and sprinkling. 00:45:57.68\00:46:02.95 Instead of immersion which is not supported by scripture, 00:46:02.96\00:46:07.56 that's something that clearly sprinkled down 00:46:07.57\00:46:11.43 to keep that phrase going 00:46:11.44\00:46:12.62 from the Roman Catholic Church. All right. 00:46:12.63\00:46:16.16 Now, we going to look at a couple denominations 00:46:16.17\00:46:20.37 and we're trending now a little way 00:46:20.38\00:46:22.69 from Orthodoxy. Okay. 00:46:22.70\00:46:25.73 That generally considered strong Christian faiths 00:46:25.74\00:46:28.26 to some areas where there is some definite diversions 00:46:28.27\00:46:31.60 in certain beliefs from mainstream Christianity. 00:46:31.61\00:46:36.24 And one of those is Pentecostals Right. 00:46:36.25\00:46:40.26 Pentecostal Church some even refer to was often referred 00:46:40.27\00:46:44.41 to as the third force in Christianity. 00:46:44.42\00:46:47.06 Alongside traditional Catholicism 00:46:47.07\00:46:49.05 and its historic Protestantism. 00:46:49.06\00:46:50.91 So we see them as a third aspect of this 00:46:50.92\00:46:54.18 that is continuing to further 00:46:54.19\00:46:55.73 certain true's of the Bible-- Right. 00:46:55.74\00:46:58.11 That have been lost and so we find that. 00:46:58.12\00:47:01.67 And some of their beliefs that they hold true 00:47:01.68\00:47:04.65 and faithful too in the Bible is that the Bible is trusted 00:47:04.66\00:47:08.21 as a rule of faith and practice. 00:47:08.22\00:47:10.95 Salvation to the blood of Christ, 00:47:10.96\00:47:13.64 Jesus will return soon, they believe in imminent 00:47:13.65\00:47:17.07 return of Christ it's very soon, 00:47:17.08\00:47:20.14 baptism by immersion, the Lord's Supper, 00:47:20.15\00:47:22.14 the virgin birth. 00:47:22.15\00:47:23.95 But, and the gifts of the Spirit, 00:47:23.96\00:47:25.66 but here's where that the diversion happens. Yeah. 00:47:25.67\00:47:29.28 And the diversions are really clever 00:47:29.29\00:47:30.73 because how do I believe 00:47:30.74\00:47:32.17 in the fact of the soon return of Jesus, 00:47:32.18\00:47:35.88 and then attached to that the soon secret 00:47:35.89\00:47:39.44 return of Jesus. 00:47:39.45\00:47:41.56 That's what the odd part about, 00:47:41.57\00:47:43.08 because Pentecostals are straight and strong 00:47:43.09\00:47:46.16 on the issue of the secret rapture. 00:47:46.17\00:47:49.62 Believing that Christ will return secretly, 00:47:49.63\00:47:52.67 that's the thing 00:47:52.68\00:47:53.65 that's really diabolical about that. 00:47:53.66\00:47:55.50 I believe that Jesus is going to return 00:47:55.51\00:47:57.93 but it's going to be a secret. 00:47:57.94\00:48:01.02 The greatest event of all human history, 00:48:01.03\00:48:03.34 it's not going to be a secret. 00:48:03.35\00:48:04.63 And I don't know if we mentioned those 00:48:04.64\00:48:05.88 in some past programs 00:48:05.89\00:48:06.86 but to rapture theory was something formulated 00:48:06.87\00:48:09.36 by the Roman Catholic Church through the assigning 00:48:09.37\00:48:12.66 of this project to two main Jesuits. 00:48:12.67\00:48:17.65 Francisco Roberos and Louis Di Alcazar 00:48:17.66\00:48:21.93 and one became a preterits, one was the futurists 00:48:21.94\00:48:25.27 and the futurist was one that came up 00:48:25.28\00:48:26.68 about this entire idea of the secret rapture. 00:48:26.69\00:48:29.29 Well the Gap Theory, which has been embraced 00:48:29.30\00:48:31.93 and I can go through the whole line 00:48:31.94\00:48:33.44 of that which has been embraced today 00:48:33.45\00:48:35.14 as one of the main major teachings 00:48:35.15\00:48:38.09 in the Pentecostal Church. 00:48:38.10\00:48:40.70 So is Jesus coming back, yes He is but He is, 00:48:40.71\00:48:44.09 He is coming back secretly. 00:48:44.10\00:48:45.72 No He is not, not supported anywhere in the Bible. 00:48:45.73\00:48:48.07 Right, right, you know, and the other thing 00:48:48.08\00:48:50.57 I was thinking about when it comes 00:48:50.58\00:48:51.82 to the gifts of the spirit and the divergence here 00:48:51.83\00:48:54.51 is that they're very strong 00:48:54.52\00:48:55.96 proponents of the gift of tongues. Right. 00:48:55.97\00:48:58.49 Speaking in tongues. 00:48:58.50\00:48:59.60 And you know associated in this arena with charismatic 00:48:59.61\00:49:04.54 or other charismatic churches that are not Pentecostal. 00:49:04.55\00:49:07.59 But the gift of speaking in tongues 00:49:07.60\00:49:09.45 is something that is used as a test. 00:49:09.46\00:49:14.13 The manifestation of speech that comes from God 00:49:14.14\00:49:18.92 that is not understandable to the observer 00:49:18.93\00:49:24.63 is something that is a sign 00:49:24.64\00:49:28.04 that the Holy Spirit of God is dwelling in you. Right. 00:49:28.05\00:49:31.87 And notice I shouldn't say a sign it's the sign, 00:49:31.88\00:49:35.23 it's the confirmation that the Holy Spirit has entered. 00:49:35.24\00:49:40.20 You know, it's amazing, the Bible says 00:49:40.21\00:49:43.30 the fruit at the spirit is love, joy, peace, 00:49:43.31\00:49:45.33 long suffering, gentleness, meekness, patience. 00:49:45.34\00:49:47.73 But they're looking at the evidence 00:49:47.74\00:49:50.83 of the indwelling spirit which in fact 00:49:50.84\00:49:52.67 in the Bible the evidence are, 00:49:52.68\00:49:55.17 the evidence are not, the evidences are listed 00:49:55.18\00:49:57.70 not just in one gift but in the propagation 00:49:57.71\00:50:00.45 and presence of all, what strange about 00:50:00.46\00:50:02.58 that is the spirit of God gives the gifts 00:50:02.59\00:50:05.22 to whomever He chooses. 00:50:05.23\00:50:07.41 We don't choose what gift we want 00:50:07.42\00:50:09.84 He chooses what gift we need. 00:50:09.85\00:50:11.42 And doesn't mean you get all of them. 00:50:11.43\00:50:12.86 No, so instead of pray 00:50:12.87\00:50:14.28 for something that you don't need. 00:50:14.29\00:50:17.02 Why do I need the gift of tongues 00:50:17.03\00:50:18.63 from communicating to Americans? 00:50:18.64\00:50:20.65 And I speak the same language. 00:50:20.66\00:50:22.21 The gift of tongues was given on the day of Pentecost 00:50:22.22\00:50:24.37 not to communicate with people 00:50:24.38\00:50:26.48 that have the same language but to begin a worldwide 00:50:26.49\00:50:29.26 outreach for the gospel. 00:50:29.27\00:50:30.45 And break down barriers, 00:50:30.46\00:50:31.43 language barriers. Yeah. 00:50:31.44\00:50:33.00 Matter of fact I would recommend you contact 3ABN 00:50:33.01\00:50:36.17 and get the book that Pastor Hal Steenson 00:50:36.18\00:50:37.95 put together about the gift of tongues. 00:50:37.96\00:50:40.27 You did a very good job of that, 00:50:40.28\00:50:41.47 I've used that several times as a resource. 00:50:41.48\00:50:43.43 And Pastor Steenson is one that has come out 00:50:43.44\00:50:46.13 of a charismatic Church. Right. 00:50:46.14\00:50:48.18 He understands it very well through 00:50:48.19\00:50:49.56 and through and he says 00:50:49.57\00:50:51.07 it is definitely there is a false teaching 00:50:51.08\00:50:53.46 on the gift of tongues within the charismatic movement. 00:50:53.47\00:50:57.12 So anyway that is a, that is Pentecostals. 00:50:57.13\00:50:59.99 Now when we want to cover here 00:51:00.00\00:51:02.75 and kind of end with in this program 00:51:02.76\00:51:04.78 is Christian scientists. 00:51:04.79\00:51:08.22 This originated in Boston, Massachusetts, 00:51:08.23\00:51:11.29 and it was following the visions 00:51:11.30\00:51:15.02 of Mary Baker Eddie in the mid 1800s. 00:51:15.03\00:51:19.75 You had manifestations of miracles 00:51:19.76\00:51:21.93 and things going on, 00:51:21.94\00:51:22.91 evidences of what appeared to be at least they said 00:51:22.92\00:51:26.85 was God's working, God's moving 00:51:26.86\00:51:29.41 and it created a whole denomination 00:51:29.42\00:51:31.04 basically out of miracle working powers 00:51:31.05\00:51:33.53 that were seen through Mary Baker Eddie. 00:51:33.54\00:51:36.80 And anyway just a quick reference here 00:51:36.81\00:51:42.51 in 1875 Mary Baker Eddie published her books science 00:51:42.52\00:51:46.07 and health with a key to the scriptures. 00:51:46.08\00:51:48.87 She reasons that since God is good 00:51:48.88\00:51:50.58 infinite and omnipotent. 00:51:50.59\00:51:52.32 Evil is inconsistent with the character of God. 00:51:52.33\00:51:55.42 Christian scientists believe, 00:51:55.43\00:51:57.64 Genesis 1 reveals creation as spiritual 00:51:57.65\00:52:00.79 and perfect while Genesis 2 is allegorical. 00:52:00.80\00:52:04.04 Is an allegorical account of the false material creation 00:52:04.05\00:52:07.43 and the evil results which follow accepting 00:52:07.44\00:52:10.85 a misconception of man. 00:52:10.86\00:52:13.36 The Church has no ordained ministers. 00:52:13.37\00:52:16.05 It publishes the internationally renown 00:52:16.06\00:52:18.39 Christian Science monitored daily newspaper 00:52:18.40\00:52:20.22 with the circulation worldwide. 00:52:20.23\00:52:21.94 And so you can kind of see 00:52:21.95\00:52:23.49 at least with that some foundations 00:52:23.50\00:52:25.61 of Christian Scientists 00:52:25.62\00:52:28.61 and where that movement came from. 00:52:28.62\00:52:31.67 You know what amazes me about Christian Scientists is 00:52:31.68\00:52:34.13 the fact that they have some beliefs 00:52:34.14\00:52:35.55 that are not supported by the Bible. 00:52:35.56\00:52:37.61 And one is that the Bible is allegorical meaning 00:52:37.62\00:52:40.84 it's not to be taken literally 00:52:40.85\00:52:42.73 but those are statement that are in the Bible 00:52:42.74\00:52:44.47 that for the most part people believe 00:52:44.48\00:52:48.38 as the phrases used in the New Testament, 00:52:48.39\00:52:52.04 "cunningly devised fables." 00:52:52.05\00:52:54.58 Right, and so Christian scientists 00:52:54.59\00:52:56.63 look at the Bible as well it's a great book 00:52:56.64\00:52:59.21 but it's an allegorically representation 00:52:59.22\00:53:01.64 and don't take it seriously. 00:53:01.65\00:53:04.26 But then they have these other beliefs 00:53:04.27\00:53:05.74 that are really in conflict because they do believe 00:53:05.75\00:53:07.43 in the immortality of the soul, 00:53:07.44\00:53:09.02 meaning a person dies 00:53:09.03\00:53:10.11 and neither goes to heaven or hell. 00:53:10.12\00:53:12.74 But at the same time they don't believe 00:53:12.75\00:53:14.25 in the influence of the devil. 00:53:14.26\00:53:16.99 So when we talk about no devil, 00:53:17.00\00:53:19.17 they don't believe in the influence 00:53:19.18\00:53:21.31 of the devil on society. 00:53:21.32\00:53:23.71 People are inherently bad or inherently good and so-- 00:53:23.72\00:53:28.52 And then he is imaginary more fictional in our use 00:53:28.53\00:53:31.53 of when we discuss evil, when we talk about evil. 00:53:31.54\00:53:34.26 It's allegorical again, it's a fictional character 00:53:34.27\00:53:36.78 that is referenced and that's 00:53:36.79\00:53:38.24 there belief about the devil. 00:53:38.25\00:53:39.42 Which opens the door to things like Karma 00:53:39.43\00:53:41.93 and Zen and you do good it comes back to you. 00:53:41.94\00:53:45.55 It's your mental attitude, that's your position in life, 00:53:45.56\00:53:47.83 that you approach to things in life that makes it 00:53:47.84\00:53:49.48 good or bad. 00:53:49.49\00:53:50.57 It's the way you see life that causes it 00:53:50.58\00:53:52.50 to be evil or good. 00:53:52.51\00:53:54.24 And one of the things though that I wanted to bring 00:53:54.25\00:53:56.53 Christian Scientists into the mix here 00:53:56.54\00:53:58.29 because one of the things they bring to the table 00:53:58.30\00:54:00.37 that looks good but can be very bad 00:54:00.38\00:54:04.05 is this positive thinking, the positive thing 00:54:04.06\00:54:08.36 which you can find within yourself. 00:54:08.37\00:54:10.04 You know and we find this working 00:54:10.05\00:54:11.87 its way into other Christian denominations as well. Yeah. 00:54:11.88\00:54:14.31 You know preachers who are preaching 00:54:14.32\00:54:15.70 the positive approach and you know what, 00:54:15.71\00:54:17.43 we should have positive thinking. 00:54:17.44\00:54:18.79 So I'm not teaching 00:54:18.80\00:54:20.67 or suggesting that we be negative. 00:54:20.68\00:54:23.33 But what I'm saying is that this wholesome 00:54:23.34\00:54:27.37 mental focus on the positive is more out of a desire 00:54:27.38\00:54:33.23 to conjure up the strength within yourself 00:54:33.24\00:54:35.58 to be positive not depending upon Christ 00:54:35.59\00:54:38.40 in you the Hope of Glory. 00:54:38.41\00:54:40.73 And so you have this whole, 00:54:40.74\00:54:41.97 a lot of the books that are produced 00:54:41.98\00:54:43.64 by Christian Scientists are along these lines, 00:54:43.65\00:54:47.41 positive thinking, you know, you could find 00:54:47.42\00:54:49.10 the strength within yourself. 00:54:49.11\00:54:51.37 You know, rise above your situation 00:54:51.38\00:54:54.30 without the dependence as much on God. 00:54:54.31\00:54:56.59 It actually weakens our dependence upon God. 00:54:56.60\00:54:59.58 You know the thing that's amazing 00:54:59.59\00:55:00.62 about this whole approach to looking at Christian 00:55:00.63\00:55:04.20 from a Scientific prospective is also the fact 00:55:04.21\00:55:07.27 that the Bible is often looked at as allegorical, 00:55:07.28\00:55:11.99 not really having any real purpose 00:55:12.00\00:55:14.50 any real application to our daily lives. 00:55:14.51\00:55:17.87 Which is absolutely true is the word 00:55:17.88\00:55:19.77 that comes to mind here. Okay. 00:55:19.78\00:55:21.22 You know following exactly what the Bible says 00:55:21.23\00:55:22.99 when it's command, if it's allegorical, 00:55:23.00\00:55:24.58 it just becomes a suggestion. 00:55:24.59\00:55:27.26 Right it's not really, this is not the map. 00:55:27.27\00:55:30.69 It's just a suggested map. 00:55:30.70\00:55:32.04 And you tend to spiritualize things 00:55:32.05\00:55:33.71 more than take the word 00:55:33.72\00:55:35.10 for what it is actually saying in literal sense. 00:55:35.11\00:55:37.11 And the, and the next two things 00:55:37.12\00:55:38.64 that really kind of struck a cord to me 00:55:38.65\00:55:40.75 was the fact that theirs no belief 00:55:40.76\00:55:43.12 by Christian Scientists in a real actual devil. 00:55:43.13\00:55:47.02 In other words, his influence in society, 00:55:47.03\00:55:49.75 there is bad is bad and good is good. 00:55:49.76\00:55:51.34 It's not so much because there is a devil, 00:55:51.35\00:55:54.86 but at the very same time the immortality of the soul 00:55:54.87\00:55:58.75 is a belief embraced by them. 00:55:58.76\00:56:01.22 And John, something that we're seeing here 00:56:01.23\00:56:04.13 throughout many of these other denominations 00:56:04.14\00:56:07.23 is they either have 00:56:07.24\00:56:09.89 both the immortality of the soul as a belief. 00:56:09.90\00:56:13.22 Including this belief in Sunday being a sacred day 00:56:13.23\00:56:16.19 or they have either just the immortality of the soul 00:56:16.20\00:56:20.26 as their belief or just to belief in Sunday. 00:56:20.27\00:56:23.15 So this is chore that. 00:56:23.16\00:56:25.41 that is come through Roman Catholicism 00:56:25.42\00:56:28.19 that has influenced many of these Churches 00:56:28.20\00:56:30.89 to embrace things that are not supported 00:56:30.90\00:56:32.65 by the scriptures. 00:56:32.66\00:56:33.63 But Christians scientist is not something 00:56:33.64\00:56:38.31 that you can really look at 00:56:38.32\00:56:40.26 as a viable Christian religion. 00:56:40.27\00:56:44.43 Well and there is debate on that. Yeah. 00:56:44.44\00:56:46.62 You know and we understand that 00:56:46.63\00:56:48.10 there's a debate on specially Catholicism itself. Right. 00:56:48.11\00:56:51.09 Catholicism is very, very ritualistic 00:56:51.10\00:56:53.28 and it's got stuff that they do that is not really 00:56:53.29\00:56:55.61 in anywhere evidenced in scriptures. 00:56:55.62\00:56:57.11 Tradition, yeah, we call it Christian. Right. 00:56:57.12\00:56:59.51 I think that's because I emphasize 00:56:59.52\00:57:00.82 there this overarching theme of belief in the God head 00:57:00.83\00:57:04.24 and Jesus and His divinity 00:57:04.25\00:57:05.96 and other things that makes them Christian. 00:57:05.97\00:57:07.39 But then as you really get down into it 00:57:07.40\00:57:10.09 you'll find that there are some teachings 00:57:10.10\00:57:11.72 that are very wrong, and the allegorical thing 00:57:11.73\00:57:14.15 I think is the biggest issue here. 00:57:14.16\00:57:15.81 Because that thus says the Lord, 00:57:15.82\00:57:17.43 just doesn't apply anymore. 00:57:17.44\00:57:18.41 That's right and so, friends, 00:57:18.42\00:57:19.39 you know here at House Calls we believe in the Bible 00:57:19.40\00:57:21.34 and the Bible only still the Protestant 00:57:21.35\00:57:23.95 Reformation's voice is Sola Scriptura. 00:57:23.96\00:57:26.36 You will know that when you begin to study 00:57:26.37\00:57:27.96 the word of God for yourself. 00:57:27.97\00:57:29.14 So begin today and have a wonderful day 00:57:29.15\00:57:31.73 as you walk with Christ. 00:57:31.74\00:57:32.75 He'll lead you where you need to go. 00:57:32.76\00:57:34.64
