Okay. 00:02:45.16\00:02:47.33 But he is asking here what, 00:02:47.34\00:02:48.75 what happens in regard to babies at the resurrection? 00:02:48.76\00:02:52.43 When Jesus comes, are they saved 00:02:52.44\00:02:53.77 by the faith of their parents? 00:02:53.78\00:02:57.20 As the Bible says that our parents will not change, 00:02:57.21\00:02:59.80 but only our mortal being will turn into the immortal 00:02:59.81\00:03:03.31 and will babies remain as babies. 00:03:03.32\00:03:06.28 So a lot of concern here and this makes sense, 00:03:06.29\00:03:08.98 because I know parents out there, 00:03:08.99\00:03:10.61 they are very concerned about their loved ones 00:03:10.62\00:03:12.75 and many of them probably have had children 00:03:12.76\00:03:16.07 that have died way to early in life and want to be sure 00:03:16.08\00:03:19.30 that those children have an opportunity to live 00:03:19.31\00:03:22.44 in the kingdom above as well. 00:03:22.45\00:03:24.39 And so these are where you have to put 00:03:24.40\00:03:25.86 a lot of pieces together. 00:03:25.87\00:03:27.68 What is the character of God and His mercy, 00:03:27.69\00:03:30.46 and what can we reasonably expect 00:03:30.47\00:03:35.57 with regard to babies at the resurrection? 00:03:35.58\00:03:37.77 And here is some of the conclusions that I have, 00:03:37.78\00:03:40.56 you know, God says, that He is going to 00:03:40.57\00:03:42.93 or that all who within this earthly community 00:03:42.94\00:03:50.58 called human kind. 00:03:50.59\00:03:52.83 All of us will appear before the Judgment Seat of Christ. 00:03:52.84\00:03:56.64 And the reason we appears because we must receive 00:03:56.65\00:04:00.11 our reward for the things that we have done. That's right. 00:04:00.12\00:04:03.25 Question is with babies, they really never really 00:04:03.26\00:04:05.57 had a chance to do anything yet. 00:04:05.58\00:04:08.22 You know, they're, they basically got up 00:04:08.23\00:04:11.37 a one-track mind which is, give me something to eat. 00:04:11.38\00:04:15.01 And you put them to sleep, and few other things 00:04:15.02\00:04:17.86 you have to take care with babies, but that's about it. 00:04:17.87\00:04:20.46 And so the question is, you know, 00:04:20.47\00:04:21.99 when they are raised in the judgment, 00:04:22.00\00:04:24.19 how does God view them? 00:04:24.20\00:04:25.91 And I would find it very difficult that a God 00:04:25.92\00:04:28.14 who is a God of love would judge them for sins 00:04:28.15\00:04:30.95 that they don't even realize or aren't even 00:04:30.96\00:04:32.66 accountable to realize they're committing. 00:04:32.67\00:04:35.27 Now we recognize we're born sinful flesh. 00:04:35.28\00:04:39.14 So we are on death row, the moment we are born. 00:04:39.15\00:04:42.56 But I do know also that the Lord is gracious enough 00:04:42.57\00:04:46.10 to give us all an opportunity to make decisions 00:04:46.11\00:04:48.71 for or against His son Christ. 00:04:48.72\00:04:51.67 And so knowing His character, 00:04:51.68\00:04:55.40 knowing that He wants everybody to have 00:04:55.41\00:04:57.32 that opportunity to be saved, it wouldn't surprise me 00:04:57.33\00:05:00.00 at all and I believe in my heart that babies will 00:05:00.01\00:05:04.13 absolutely be in the resurrection 00:05:04.14\00:05:06.40 and have their opportunity from that point on 00:05:06.41\00:05:09.00 and whether it would be, because of the parents faith 00:05:09.01\00:05:11.88 that they're putting the parent's hands 00:05:11.89\00:05:13.53 who then entered the kingdom, however, 00:05:13.54\00:05:16.51 you know, God seems fit to do that, 00:05:16.52\00:05:18.08 we aren't told in scripture, but I do see God, 00:05:18.09\00:05:20.91 a loving God and one that would be merciful in that way. 00:05:20.92\00:05:23.57 So I expect to see babies there. 00:05:23.58\00:05:27.53 Well, I would chiming on that and I would build on 00:05:27.54\00:05:31.54 the fact that we mentioned clearly 00:05:31.55\00:05:33.75 that the Bible doesn't say babies 00:05:33.76\00:05:36.74 as it relates to the resurrection. 00:05:36.75\00:05:39.59 Couple of points that we want to really be cautious 00:05:39.60\00:05:42.49 to emphasizes since the Bible doesn't give 00:05:42.50\00:05:44.47 any clear scriptural statements to say 00:05:44.48\00:05:48.45 that babies, who have not accept to Jesus will 00:05:48.46\00:05:52.08 or will not be in the resurrection? 00:05:52.09\00:05:54.60 You know the thing I often say and I know that 00:05:54.61\00:05:56.68 sometimes people that asked that question 00:05:56.69\00:05:58.99 are concerned that a baby may have been born 00:05:59.00\00:06:02.08 and died early, maybe weeks after his birth. 00:06:02.09\00:06:05.79 I've seen people say, you know, 00:06:05.80\00:06:07.96 see you in the mornings, see you in the resurrection 00:06:07.97\00:06:10.35 that is the longing of the parent. 00:06:10.36\00:06:12.44 And I would, I would say that for the parent 00:06:12.45\00:06:15.56 who is a Christian, for the parent who has lived 00:06:15.57\00:06:18.79 his or her life for the Lord, I could see that baby 00:06:18.80\00:06:21.75 being restored to that parent in the resurrection. 00:06:21.76\00:06:26.21 I don't see any reason for that baby 00:06:26.22\00:06:29.89 to be punished for sins not committed, 00:06:29.90\00:06:35.35 having never reach the age of accountability. 00:06:35.36\00:06:38.35 So at best we have to just accept what the Lord says 00:06:38.36\00:06:42.87 and that is His long suffering towards us, 00:06:42.88\00:06:45.80 not willing that any should perish. 00:06:45.81\00:06:48.77 Quite a different story when a person 00:06:48.78\00:06:50.10 gets to the age of accountability, 00:06:50.11\00:06:51.49 they've to make decision for or against salvation. 00:06:51.50\00:06:54.46 But because it's not stated in scripture, 00:06:54.47\00:06:58.35 we have to just make it a point of speculation and say, 00:06:58.36\00:07:01.50 God knows best, He'll not cause the resurrection 00:07:01.51\00:07:06.04 to be a second point of pain for parents 00:07:06.05\00:07:08.60 who have lost their children, who live a Christian life. 00:07:08.61\00:07:12.36 But on the other side of that, 00:07:12.37\00:07:14.59 I believe that for those who have, 00:07:14.60\00:07:18.34 haven't lived the Christian life 00:07:18.35\00:07:19.84 there is one text in the Bible, it's just came to my mind 00:07:19.85\00:07:23.04 and I believe the Holy Spirit brought to me that text. 00:07:23.05\00:07:26.09 Now go with me to Exodus, Exodus Chapter 20, 00:07:26.10\00:07:30.28 you know, we pray for guidance 00:07:30.29\00:07:31.96 and as we move our lips, the Lord inserts knowledge 00:07:31.97\00:07:36.49 into our brains. 00:07:36.50\00:07:38.66 The one evidence I have in scripture 00:07:38.67\00:07:41.59 is Exodus Chapter 20, all right. 00:07:41.60\00:07:49.61 And look at verse 5. 00:07:49.62\00:07:51.79 Now in the middle of verse 5 the Lord talks 00:07:51.80\00:07:53.81 about well, let's just read it, it says, 00:07:53.82\00:07:58.04 "You shall not bow down to them." 00:07:58.05\00:08:00.28 That's to graven images. 00:08:00.29\00:08:02.09 Nor serve them for I the Lord your God 00:08:02.10\00:08:04.57 I'm a jealous God. 00:08:04.58\00:08:05.80 ' And here is something that really opened 00:08:05.81\00:08:07.55 my mind just a moment ago. 00:08:07.56\00:08:09.29 "Visiting the iniquity of the father 00:08:09.30\00:08:11.83 on the children to the third and fourth generation 00:08:11.84\00:08:14.84 of those who hate me." 00:08:14.85\00:08:16.60 So I would say in that context 00:08:16.61\00:08:18.44 if a person doesn't serves the Lord 00:08:18.45\00:08:22.21 and the whole family line is one family line 00:08:22.22\00:08:26.80 after the other of those who do not serve the Lord. 00:08:26.81\00:08:30.19 I think that the iniquities of the father will be 00:08:30.20\00:08:32.83 passed on to the children of the third and fourth generation. 00:08:32.84\00:08:36.15 In other words, the practices will go on, 00:08:36.16\00:08:38.31 not that, not that your sins will have to be atoned 00:08:38.32\00:08:41.62 for by your son or by your daughter. 00:08:41.63\00:08:43.73 But the sins of the father will be 00:08:43.74\00:08:45.01 practiced by the next generation, 00:08:45.02\00:08:46.45 to next generation, to next generation, 00:08:46.46\00:08:48.48 and if any one of the children along the way die young, 00:08:48.49\00:08:52.26 it appears to say that the transgressions 00:08:52.27\00:08:54.78 that were from one generation continuing the next 00:08:54.79\00:08:57.37 and the next until this cycle of evil is broken. 00:08:57.38\00:09:00.34 I don't see that child coming forth in the resurrection 00:09:00.35\00:09:04.17 because the sins of the father have been passed on. 00:09:04.18\00:09:07.15 You also have another text in the Book of Ezekiel, 00:09:07.16\00:09:09.85 where it says, though Daniel, Job, and Noah in it, 00:09:09.86\00:09:14.37 they shall neither save them 00:09:14.38\00:09:16.29 their sons or daughters by their righteousness. 00:09:16.30\00:09:19.29 In other words, they had to have their 00:09:19.30\00:09:20.29 own righteousness to be saved. 00:09:20.30\00:09:22.09 But at best we have to just lean 00:09:22.10\00:09:23.50 on the sovereignty of God and say, 00:09:23.51\00:09:25.30 in the resurrection you won't be greatly disappointed 00:09:25.31\00:09:27.64 if you're gonna be there and say but what about my kid? 00:09:27.65\00:09:30.41 What about my child that died when I was, 00:09:30.42\00:09:32.61 when the child was just born? 00:09:32.62\00:09:35.11 That's the best I could do on that one. Good. 00:09:35.12\00:09:37.04 Not having any scriptural evidence. 00:09:37.05\00:09:38.92 If you have something that you come up within the Bible, 00:09:38.93\00:09:41.61 we'll be very glad to hear it, all right. 00:09:41.62\00:09:45.88 Here is another one. This is Diana from Bermuda. 00:09:45.89\00:09:51.36 I've the following question. 00:09:51.37\00:09:54.02 What is the difference between Jesus ascending to His Father 00:09:54.03\00:09:56.95 after resurrection and coming back to earth, 00:09:56.96\00:10:01.08 that is full of sin and His second coming, 00:10:01.09\00:10:04.70 when He does not touch the earth because of sin? 00:10:04.71\00:10:08.19 Well, one is finishing the plan of salvation, 00:10:08.20\00:10:11.51 the second one is, well let me just put 00:10:11.52\00:10:14.00 in the context of three things. 00:10:14.01\00:10:15.82 He appeared the first time to save us from sin. 00:10:15.83\00:10:20.37 When He came back to the earth, 00:10:20.38\00:10:23.08 He came to empower us to live a victorious life over sin. 00:10:23.09\00:10:28.57 And then the third time He's gonna come back to free us 00:10:28.58\00:10:30.79 from the presence of sin. 00:10:30.80\00:10:32.70 So His life, and death, 00:10:32.71\00:10:35.02 and resurrection gave us the power to be, 00:10:35.03\00:10:37.86 set to be saved from the penalty of sin. 00:10:37.87\00:10:43.74 When He came back in His resurrection 00:10:43.75\00:10:46.25 and His life was acceptable, 00:10:46.26\00:10:48.24 He gave us daily power to live over the power of sin. 00:10:48.25\00:10:53.25 And then when He comes back, He's not gonna touch the earth. 00:10:53.26\00:10:56.29 The Bible says, He's gonna come back without sin. 00:10:56.30\00:10:58.24 He's gonna come back to deliver us from the presence of sin. 00:10:58.25\00:11:01.33 So here is from the penalty of sin, 00:11:01.34\00:11:03.84 from the daily power of sin, and finally, 00:11:03.85\00:11:05.97 from the presence of sin. 00:11:05.98\00:11:08.09 So He is not touching the earth, 00:11:08.10\00:11:10.29 primarily because He made a promise 00:11:10.30\00:11:11.83 in John Chapter 14 verse 1 to 3. 00:11:11.84\00:11:14.40 We're not preparing a place for Him, 00:11:14.41\00:11:16.29 He is preparing a place for us. 00:11:16.30\00:11:18.18 And so in order for the earth to be made new, 00:11:18.19\00:11:22.03 we will be removed from that earth to be made new, 00:11:22.04\00:11:24.88 and then come back to the earth 00:11:24.89\00:11:26.52 after the thousand years is done, 00:11:26.53\00:11:27.93 but He's not coming back to touch the earth. 00:11:27.94\00:11:30.95 As a matter of fact one of the indicators 00:11:30.96\00:11:32.83 of a false Christ is anybody walking to the earth and saying, 00:11:32.84\00:11:35.95 He is the second coming of Jesus, that's how we all now. 00:11:35.96\00:11:38.70 That's why Jesus says, many false Christs' 00:11:38.71\00:11:40.42 and false prophets will arise 00:11:40.43\00:11:42.25 and show great signs and wonders. 00:11:42.26\00:11:44.29 So if somebody says that he's the Christ 00:11:44.30\00:11:46.50 or if they really stretches that 00:11:46.51\00:11:49.37 and she says that she is the Christ, 00:11:49.38\00:11:51.72 don't believe it because Christ will not come back 00:11:51.73\00:11:53.69 and touch to the earth again. 00:11:53.70\00:11:55.21 And I think there's a safeguard to let us know that, 00:11:55.22\00:11:57.64 that when Jesus comes back, 00:11:57.65\00:11:58.68 we'll be caught up to meet Him in the air. 00:11:58.69\00:12:00.74 You know, what I think the other thing that we need, 00:12:00.75\00:12:02.82 this big focus here is the intent 00:12:02.83\00:12:04.58 and I think you alluded to that already. 00:12:04.59\00:12:07.33 When He came back to earth after the resurrection, 00:12:07.34\00:12:09.73 He intended to stay for 40 days, 00:12:09.74\00:12:11.47 He intended to teach His disciple something. 00:12:11.48\00:12:13.10 There are things that need to be accomplished 00:12:13.11\00:12:15.21 to establish His church, but when He comes back 00:12:15.22\00:12:18.24 in the second coming, He's not staying. 00:12:18.25\00:12:21.04 No, He is not touching the earth. 00:12:21.05\00:12:22.15 No and He is bringing people away from sin, the sinful world. 00:12:22.16\00:12:25.06 So the intend here, the message also is I'm not staying, 00:12:25.07\00:12:29.19 there is no reason to stay, 00:12:29.20\00:12:30.17 I've got a place prepared for you, 00:12:30.18\00:12:31.84 that I'm taking you too. 00:12:31.85\00:12:33.46 And that's why He is bringing His saints. 00:12:33.47\00:12:35.90 You know, one of the things that points into this John, 00:12:35.91\00:12:38.37 that I know that is often misunderstood 00:12:38.38\00:12:40.55 is 1st Thessalonians Chapter 4, where it talks about Jesus 00:12:40.56\00:12:44.54 bringing with Him those who sleep in Jesus. 00:12:44.55\00:12:48.45 And you know much of the Christian world today 00:12:48.46\00:12:52.91 has begun to translate that text 00:12:52.92\00:12:54.54 as bringing with Him from heaven, 00:12:54.55\00:12:56.59 those who have found a sleep in Jesus 00:12:56.60\00:12:58.78 back to this earth to establish His earthly kingdom. 00:12:58.79\00:13:01.46 The problem that they don't, 00:13:01.47\00:13:02.56 the thing they don't see is that He is not touching this earth 00:13:02.57\00:13:04.85 and the bringing with Him is, from the resurrection, 00:13:04.86\00:13:07.60 bringing with Him the saints 00:13:07.61\00:13:08.80 that sleep in Jesus back to heaven. 00:13:08.81\00:13:11.71 Right. The place He's prepared for them. 00:13:11.72\00:13:13.34 It's a reverse direction, He's going up, 00:13:13.35\00:13:15.82 He's not coming down. Right. 00:13:15.83\00:13:17.29 And that's kind of a misunderstanding 00:13:17.30\00:13:18.96 that a lot of Christians today really see 00:13:18.97\00:13:21.18 or have taken from 1st Thessalonians 4. 00:13:21.19\00:13:23.82 And that is hinged on this idea of the immortality of the soul. 00:13:23.83\00:13:29.32 Somebody once said to me, what had cleared up there? 00:13:29.33\00:13:33.54 But it helped them to make a decision to follow Christ was, 00:13:33.55\00:13:36.83 they always wondered with this idea 00:13:36.84\00:13:39.47 of a soul continuing to live on. 00:13:39.48\00:13:42.23 That a person in their understanding died, 00:13:42.24\00:13:45.10 he went to heaven then came back and went back. 00:13:45.11\00:13:48.32 They said, what's all the rigmarole 00:13:48.33\00:13:49.92 and when they discovered that there is a resurrection, 00:13:49.93\00:13:52.90 where John 5 verse 28 and 29 says, 00:13:52.91\00:13:56.72 ''Do not marvel at this for the hour is coming 00:13:56.73\00:13:58.86 in which all that are in the graves 00:13:58.87\00:14:00.96 will hear His voice and will come forth." 00:14:00.97\00:14:02.95 All that are in the graves will hear His voice and come forth. 00:14:02.96\00:14:05.84 Those that have done good to the resurrection of life, 00:14:05.85\00:14:08.06 those that have done evil to the resurrection of condemnation. 00:14:08.07\00:14:10.94 So the resurrection has often them, 00:14:10.95\00:14:13.40 the doctrine that's kind of ignored today. 00:14:13.41\00:14:17.16 And if you're Christian of a different faith 00:14:17.17\00:14:19.23 other than Adventist, ask yourself the question 00:14:19.24\00:14:21.42 when have you heard the resurrection talked about? 00:14:21.43\00:14:25.58 I heard it talked about once by pastor, who said, well, 00:14:25.59\00:14:29.09 yeah the body is gonna be resurrected 00:14:29.10\00:14:31.50 and the soul is gonna come back from the heaven, 00:14:31.51\00:14:33.97 but you have a problem with that, 00:14:33.98\00:14:35.47 because there is no place in scripture 00:14:35.48\00:14:36.79 that teaches that and thirdly, 00:14:36.80\00:14:39.48 Ezekiel 18:4, "The soul that sins, it shall die." 00:14:39.49\00:14:43.03 So we have all sinned and fallen short to the glory of God, 00:14:43.04\00:14:45.77 but so there is a lot of inconsistencies there 00:14:45.78\00:14:49.14 with people being brought back with Christ. 00:14:49.15\00:14:52.50 He is coming first time for His saints, 00:14:52.51\00:14:57.24 that's a second coming at the end of the thousand years 00:14:57.25\00:14:59.43 coming back with His saints. 00:14:59.44\00:15:01.26 Forty verses in the New Testament 00:15:01.27\00:15:03.15 about the resurrection. Okay. 00:15:03.16\00:15:04.97 So this is a significant teaching in the Bible 00:15:04.98\00:15:08.03 that is being disregarded really today. 00:15:08.04\00:15:10.91 Forty on the resurrection, 00:15:10.92\00:15:12.03 sixty on the Sabbath both pretty much overlooked. 00:15:12.04\00:15:15.55 Yes, John, I have a question here 00:15:15.56\00:15:18.71 and there were several questions on this, 00:15:18.72\00:15:20.31 so I wanted to kind of issue, 00:15:20.32\00:15:21.37 there is a point of clarification. 00:15:21.38\00:15:22.96 Our previous program Pastor Murray and I did, 00:15:22.97\00:15:25.97 we had the question. 00:15:25.98\00:15:27.57 Do Muslims believe in a true God? 00:15:27.58\00:15:33.82 Is Allah the true God? 00:15:33.83\00:15:35.72 And, you know, we answered that question that Allah is God. 00:15:35.73\00:15:41.67 Now, what I wanted to do is the clarification here comes from, 00:15:41.68\00:15:45.59 well, you know, then do we just accept Allah 00:15:45.60\00:15:47.52 and that's just is fine, He is accepting the, 00:15:47.53\00:15:49.32 you know, the Christ and that's not the point. 00:15:49.33\00:15:52.30 We were asked the question whether or not Allah is God. 00:15:52.31\00:15:55.80 And Allah is the Arabic word for God. 00:15:55.81\00:15:59.51 So, yes, in that respect, 00:15:59.52\00:16:01.47 in a literal respect the word Allah is God. 00:16:01.48\00:16:04.19 Right. Secondly though, it depends on how, 00:16:04.20\00:16:07.52 what kind of minutiae, you want to go into 00:16:07.53\00:16:09.50 when answering this question because if you want to interpret 00:16:09.51\00:16:13.84 only those that believe in the true God 00:16:13.85\00:16:16.34 as believing all of His true doctrines to the very end 00:16:16.35\00:16:19.50 from the first to the end, then you would exclude 00:16:19.51\00:16:22.35 much of the Christian world from believing in the true God, 00:16:22.36\00:16:26.06 but in the general sense, 00:16:26.07\00:16:27.49 we understand that the Christian world believes in Christ. 00:16:27.50\00:16:30.45 They believe in God who created the heavens and the earth 00:16:30.46\00:16:33.82 and they believe in Jesus who was divine. 00:16:33.83\00:16:37.78 Now I know that Muslims do not believe in Jesus who was divine, 00:16:37.79\00:16:42.93 but they believe in one God, 00:16:42.94\00:16:44.70 they believe in Him as the Creator. 00:16:44.71\00:16:47.58 They don't believe in polytheistic, 00:16:47.59\00:16:49.20 any kind of polytheistic teachings 00:16:49.21\00:16:51.23 and so in a general sense, yes, they believe in Allah 00:16:51.24\00:16:55.05 which is Arabic for God, in God. 00:16:55.06\00:16:57.80 So in that general sense that's the way 00:16:57.81\00:17:00.98 we answered that question. 00:17:00.99\00:17:01.96 So if you have any questions or concerns about that is, 00:17:01.97\00:17:05.83 that is in fact where we were coming from. 00:17:05.84\00:17:07.49 Now I know that John in our topic today, 00:17:07.50\00:17:10.85 we're gonna be getting into those 00:17:10.86\00:17:14.26 who profess to believe in God, 00:17:14.27\00:17:16.66 profess Christ and then do vary in their 00:17:16.67\00:17:20.70 or at least vary from scripture 00:17:20.71\00:17:22.45 in their beliefs about Him. Right. 00:17:22.46\00:17:24.75 And so I know we're not, 00:17:24.76\00:17:26.56 we're gonna segue there in just a minute, 00:17:26.57\00:17:27.95 but that's not the minutiae we got into. 00:17:27.96\00:17:30.64 Okay. We were interpreting Allah. 00:17:30.65\00:17:32.09 So I just wanted to share that clarification at least 00:17:32.10\00:17:34.35 for our listeners and our viewers today. 00:17:34.36\00:17:35.72 All right, and just to cap that off, 00:17:35.73\00:17:38.90 there is a statement of Jesus in John 14:1, 00:17:38.91\00:17:43.30 he says "You believe in God, believe also in Me. 00:17:43.31\00:17:48.54 And in, I did a topical study that I presented 00:17:48.55\00:17:54.47 on the recent series that I did called "Last Day Events." 00:17:54.48\00:17:58.11 And I talked about there are various systems 00:17:58.12\00:17:59.97 that have existed throughout time 00:17:59.98\00:18:04.23 and one of those was Islam that surprisingly enough, 00:18:04.24\00:18:10.49 in Islam it's a requirement to believe in Jesus. 00:18:10.50\00:18:15.12 However, as a messenger from God 00:18:15.13\00:18:20.86 like all other messengers from God. 00:18:20.87\00:18:23.48 See, so he is not the savior, but he is the messenger of God, 00:18:23.49\00:18:29.69 and they also teach in Islam that even Jesus 00:18:29.70\00:18:32.32 will deny that He ever claimed divinity. 00:18:32.33\00:18:35.47 So its number of other things that go along with that. 00:18:35.48\00:18:38.14 So there is the one God, Allah and that's it, 00:18:38.15\00:18:42.63 but then you have the derivatives of that, 00:18:42.64\00:18:45.03 you have the Sunni and the Shiite. 00:18:45.04\00:18:47.12 So the Shiites and the Sunnis, 00:18:47.13\00:18:49.52 one traditional, one nontraditional. 00:18:49.53\00:18:51.59 So even amongst those who are Muslim, 00:18:51.60\00:18:54.81 you have varying belief systems. 00:18:54.82\00:18:56.56 Yeah and I think and God we know have other sheep 00:18:56.57\00:19:00.66 that are not of this fold and I think that even extends 00:19:00.67\00:19:03.68 worldwide to those who in conscience 00:19:03.69\00:19:06.29 are following to the best of their ability and, 00:19:06.30\00:19:11.47 you know, with the bottom and the fullness of their heart, 00:19:11.48\00:19:14.75 the God that they know will save them, 00:19:14.76\00:19:16.46 that they can trust to save them and, 00:19:16.47\00:19:18.76 you know, we can't judge a heart? No. 00:19:18.77\00:19:21.03 We can only judge their actions 00:19:21.04\00:19:23.01 and we know whether it would be Christianity 00:19:23.02\00:19:25.85 or whether, whether it become Islam, 00:19:25.86\00:19:28.12 whether it would be Islam we're talking about. 00:19:28.13\00:19:30.01 There are people who definitely do not follow God, 00:19:30.02\00:19:32.46 because they don't display any kind of characteristics. 00:19:32.47\00:19:34.80 Right. And the character of God at all 00:19:34.81\00:19:36.91 whether it would be Allah or whether it would be God 00:19:36.92\00:19:40.25 depending upon whether you're using Arabic or using English. 00:19:40.26\00:19:43.32 Yeah, they are, here we are living thousands of years 00:19:43.33\00:19:50.07 through the stage of development 00:19:50.08\00:19:52.06 and development in the sense of religions of the earth. 00:19:52.07\00:19:56.12 We are now at the point of hojpoj, 00:19:56.13\00:19:58.79 there are so many and some are traditional 00:19:58.80\00:20:01.06 that have been around for thousands of years, 00:20:01.07\00:20:03.69 others are photocopies of photocopies 00:20:03.70\00:20:07.40 of photocopies of photocopies 00:20:07.41\00:20:08.62 and some things left out along the way. 00:20:08.63\00:20:10.40 So we want to try to deal with each person's religious 00:20:10.41\00:20:13.35 convictions in a very respectful way 00:20:13.36\00:20:16.62 not to minimize anything that they hold in 00:20:16.63\00:20:20.22 relationship to their worship of God. 00:20:20.23\00:20:23.07 So we hope we don't communicate that at all. 00:20:23.08\00:20:26.80 Pastor Lomacang, I have a question. 00:20:26.81\00:20:29.42 For I ordered the set. 00:20:29.43\00:20:32.14 Well, he watched my series on the Unclean Spirits, 00:20:32.15\00:20:34.01 by the way that's a very good series to get. 00:20:34.02\00:20:36.54 He says, you mentioned that Satan had been learning 00:20:36.55\00:20:39.20 all his evil ways for 6000 years now. 00:20:39.21\00:20:42.20 My question is this. 00:20:42.21\00:20:43.65 This world is 2000 years old, I'm wondering how He knows that 00:20:43.66\00:20:47.31 Satan started all this 4000 years earlier? 00:20:47.32\00:20:50.29 Well, the world is not 2000 years old. 00:20:50.30\00:20:53.32 If you look at, if you look at 00:20:53.33\00:20:55.64 the even the theological dating of the creation is 4004 B.C. 00:20:55.65\00:21:03.03 Before. Before Christ. Yes. 00:21:03.04\00:21:05.47 And so it's been 2000 years since Christ. 00:21:05.48\00:21:08.48 So right of the back, we have. Six thousand years. 00:21:08.49\00:21:11.96 Six thousand years right there. 00:21:11.97\00:21:13.63 So check that again because we're in 2011, that is A.D, 00:21:13.64\00:21:19.77 Anno Domini in the year of our Lord 00:21:19.78\00:21:21.81 that is post B.C, and you have. 00:21:21.82\00:21:25.14 The entire Old Testament is older than 2000 years. 00:21:25.15\00:21:28.32 Right, exactly, we have the Egyptian culture 00:21:28.33\00:21:30.76 that's been around for nearly 5000 years. 00:21:30.77\00:21:33.48 You have some that have been around for 3000 years. 00:21:33.49\00:21:35.78 So look at the historical books 00:21:35.79\00:21:37.65 and just get a broader perspective on that. 00:21:37.66\00:21:40.68 In America, we don't have anything 00:21:40.69\00:21:42.06 that is-we don't have anything in the America 00:21:42.07\00:21:44.79 that's 400 years old, do we? 00:21:44.80\00:21:46.64 Barely, barely, I know that... 00:21:46.65\00:21:49.09 The only thing in America would be 00:21:49.10\00:21:50.35 anything its native American. Right. 00:21:50.36\00:21:52.39 So you have to go there. 00:21:52.40\00:21:53.84 So I think that's the question and that is the answer. 00:21:53.85\00:21:57.85 The world is older than 2000 years. 00:21:57.86\00:22:02.67 Thank you, for that question. What else do you have? 00:22:02.68\00:22:06.43 That's all we have for questions I think today. 00:22:06.44\00:22:08.33 Okay, well, let me see what else I've here. 00:22:08.34\00:22:10.14 Our subject. Okay. 00:22:10.15\00:22:12.01 Yeah, let's take the rest of time and dive into the subject. 00:22:12.02\00:22:15.14 If you have any questions that you would 00:22:15.15\00:22:16.92 like to communicate to us and send it to us, 00:22:16.93\00:22:20.54 send those to housecalls@3abn.org, 00:22:20.55\00:22:23.44 that's housecalls@3abn.org. 00:22:23.45\00:22:26.55 And we do appreciate all that you do to rack our brains 00:22:26.56\00:22:32.28 and to stimulate us to dive deeper into the Bible. 00:22:32.29\00:22:36.18 John, yesterday we began talking about various religions 00:22:36.19\00:22:40.20 and we began by laying the foundation on Babylon. 00:22:40.21\00:22:45.75 We talked about the mother church 00:22:45.76\00:22:47.96 and the other churches that are daughters. 00:22:47.97\00:22:51.75 We talked about the pure church in Revelation 12, 00:22:51.76\00:22:55.09 the pure woman that was pursued by the beast or the dragon 00:22:55.10\00:23:00.40 and then we found that dragon was a red dragon. 00:23:00.41\00:23:03.63 Then we find that same color beast supporting 00:23:03.64\00:23:08.26 the woman in Revelation 17. 00:23:08.27\00:23:10.55 And the woman being described is having daughters, 00:23:10.56\00:23:12.50 meaning, if a woman has daughters, 00:23:12.51\00:23:14.51 they are all connected to her DNA. 00:23:14.52\00:23:16.97 In this sense, the DNA is religious 00:23:16.98\00:23:19.70 and the DNA is based on beliefs that connect 00:23:19.71\00:23:23.46 back to the mother church. 00:23:23.47\00:23:26.29 So give me some more foundation 00:23:26.30\00:23:28.37 as to how we're hopping into the boat 00:23:28.38\00:23:30.44 and where we're going to paddle to today. 00:23:30.45\00:23:31.71 Well, we've titled these programs, 00:23:31.72\00:23:33.68 we may do about six, seven, eight, 00:23:33.69\00:23:35.81 eight programs on this. 00:23:35.82\00:23:37.63 Why so many denominations? 00:23:37.64\00:23:40.42 And so in establishing that we can see clearly 00:23:40.43\00:23:42.67 in scripture by prophecy and interpreting 00:23:42.68\00:23:45.95 the symbols correctly in Revelation 00:23:45.96\00:23:48.22 that God is always established, 00:23:48.23\00:23:49.99 it has established from the beginning His people. 00:23:50.00\00:23:52.48 Right, His one true people, 00:23:52.49\00:23:53.73 a remnant so to speak throughout ages. 00:23:53.74\00:23:56.25 There's always been a line of His people 00:23:56.26\00:23:58.08 that He communicates to, communicates to them 00:23:58.09\00:24:01.65 through His truth. Right. 00:24:01.66\00:24:03.38 His direction, His ways, and His word. 00:24:03.39\00:24:06.59 And so, in that we find the woman 00:24:06.60\00:24:09.28 being pursued by the devil, the dragon, who hates it. 00:24:09.29\00:24:13.88 Makes war against her. 00:24:13.89\00:24:15.57 And then, of course, as you said by Revelation 17, 00:24:15.58\00:24:18.07 we have a woman, but this time 00:24:18.08\00:24:19.58 it's not a pure woman, it's a harlot. That's right. 00:24:19.59\00:24:21.73 Who rides this beast that was first pursuing her in 12? 00:24:21.74\00:24:25.16 Now, she is on top of her and being directed by this beast. 00:24:25.17\00:24:29.08 So, I like the point that you made there 00:24:29.09\00:24:32.51 with regard to having daughters, 00:24:32.52\00:24:34.69 but the other reverse is true, 00:24:34.70\00:24:36.90 if there are daughters, she is a mother. 00:24:36.91\00:24:39.76 That's right, and so one of the things 00:24:39.77\00:24:41.63 we're going to do is, we're talk about 00:24:41.64\00:24:43.08 several denominations 00:24:43.09\00:24:44.11 that we find throughout Christianity today, 00:24:44.12\00:24:47.22 to try and answer the question, 00:24:47.23\00:24:49.29 why so many denominations? 00:24:49.30\00:24:51.26 First of all, you know, it's predicted by future, 00:24:51.27\00:24:54.15 by prophecy or by the Biblical record and prophetic word. 00:24:54.16\00:24:58.62 But secondly, we're finding that 00:24:58.63\00:25:01.77 there is divisions within Christianity 00:25:01.78\00:25:03.87 because of the problems with truth. That's right. 00:25:03.88\00:25:06.99 They believe different things 00:25:07.00\00:25:09.64 and here this mother of the harlot's has a wine that 00:25:09.65\00:25:13.92 she is dispensing that people are partaking of, 00:25:13.93\00:25:17.19 and they are being mislead and we define that wine 00:25:17.20\00:25:19.70 as being deceitful words. False teaching. 00:25:19.71\00:25:22.81 False teachings. Right. 00:25:22.82\00:25:24.27 And the Bible is clear on that Micah 2:11, 00:25:24.28\00:25:26.53 I believe, helps explain that. 00:25:26.54\00:25:28.14 So now we're getting to the heart of the issue 00:25:28.15\00:25:30.80 which is look at some of these denominations 00:25:30.81\00:25:34.55 and see what they might have in common 00:25:34.56\00:25:37.03 with a overall systems that we define as Babylon, 00:25:37.04\00:25:40.34 the Bible says is Babylon, right, 00:25:40.35\00:25:42.17 which is the mother of harlot's? 00:25:42.18\00:25:44.08 So I would always say, let's start with mother 00:25:44.09\00:25:48.44 and if the woman as a church, and there is a mother church, 00:25:48.45\00:25:53.89 let's take a look at what aspects 00:25:53.90\00:25:57.25 of this mother church truly are? 00:25:57.26\00:26:00.81 Now it's, don't even have to say 00:26:00.82\00:26:02.77 who claims to be the mother church, 00:26:02.78\00:26:04.55 I mean, we know throughout history that the only church 00:26:04.56\00:26:08.97 that claims to be the mother church 00:26:08.98\00:26:11.19 is the Roman Catholic Church. Right. 00:26:11.20\00:26:13.25 So I don't think there is any debate about that. 00:26:13.26\00:26:17.08 Now I know that there is a debate 00:26:17.09\00:26:18.57 with regard to prophecy as to seeing whether or not 00:26:18.58\00:26:22.28 the Roman Catholic Church 00:26:22.29\00:26:23.47 is truly the mother of harlots, 00:26:23.48\00:26:27.88 the mother Babylon who has children 00:26:27.89\00:26:32.18 also that's carried forward from Daniel Chapter 7 and 8, 00:26:32.19\00:26:36.58 where the little horn comes out of the fourth beast, 00:26:36.59\00:26:39.14 that fourth beast being Rome, right, 00:26:39.15\00:26:41.28 becomes then people Rome, 00:26:41.29\00:26:42.71 the little horn. That's right. 00:26:42.72\00:26:43.94 And so the disagreement there, 00:26:43.95\00:26:46.44 we know is in the interpretive methods 00:26:46.45\00:26:48.77 in prophecy, maybe we got to just touch on that, 00:26:48.78\00:26:50.73 just briefly. Okay. 00:26:50.74\00:26:52.10 Because the reformers during the Protestant Reformation 00:26:52.11\00:26:57.75 as God was pushing forward His truth, 00:26:57.76\00:26:59.93 the truth of His word, what you found 00:26:59.94\00:27:02.66 was growing disagreement over centuries 00:27:02.67\00:27:08.23 of how to interpret prophetic truth. Right. 00:27:08.24\00:27:11.89 And symbols and prophecy in general. 00:27:11.90\00:27:14.26 And the reformers, 00:27:14.27\00:27:15.49 if you want to start with that there, 00:27:15.50\00:27:16.59 I can turn this over to you. 00:27:16.60\00:27:17.96 Reformers believed in what was called historicism, 00:27:17.97\00:27:22.70 and they saw clearly that from beginning to end, 00:27:22.71\00:27:26.19 prophecy stretched, they had a beginning 00:27:26.20\00:27:27.82 and has an end combination of Christ and His return. 00:27:27.83\00:27:31.82 And that this little horn power 00:27:31.83\00:27:33.34 was in fact the Church of Rome, 00:27:33.35\00:27:35.67 who they were seeking to protest against 00:27:35.68\00:27:37.81 and separate it from. Right. 00:27:37.82\00:27:39.86 But over time, we've lost that picture. 00:27:39.87\00:27:42.40 Oh, yeah, we have lost that picture. 00:27:42.41\00:27:45.00 Lot of what exist in Christianity today 00:27:45.01\00:27:47.91 hasn't really been developed by many of the mainline 00:27:47.92\00:27:52.04 Protestant Churches and to use the word Protestant 00:27:52.05\00:27:54.91 is almost an ironic thing nowadays 00:27:54.92\00:27:57.45 because nobody is protesting anything anymore. 00:27:57.46\00:28:01.00 We forgot what the word protesting, 00:28:01.01\00:28:02.70 or Protestant comes from. 00:28:02.71\00:28:04.08 Yeah, Protestants, these are like contestants, 00:28:04.09\00:28:09.31 protestants, Protestants, if we were to roll that word, 00:28:09.32\00:28:12.98 the way that it's phonetically pronounced. 00:28:12.99\00:28:16.45 They protested the reason why Protestantism began was 00:28:16.46\00:28:19.93 because they protested many of the teachings 00:28:19.94\00:28:22.06 of the Roman Catholic Church. 00:28:22.07\00:28:23.80 Supremely, they protested the authority 00:28:23.81\00:28:25.91 that the Pope claimed to have. 00:28:25.92\00:28:28.30 And so what I'd like o begin with today is 00:28:28.31\00:28:30.51 to talk about some of the things that 00:28:30.52\00:28:32.43 most of Christianity have in common with Rome, 00:28:32.44\00:28:35.36 that are scriptural, that's really, 00:28:35.37\00:28:38.19 where we want to begin with today 00:28:38.20\00:28:41.33 and I would even go to the next level as saying, 00:28:41.34\00:28:44.13 these are the teachings that 00:28:44.14\00:28:46.27 the Roman Catholic Church has in, 00:28:46.28\00:28:48.09 in harmony with even the Adventist Church. 00:28:48.10\00:28:50.44 So not everything that all church teach, 00:28:50.45\00:28:52.38 not everything that all churches teach are either 00:28:52.39\00:28:57.02 in harmony with each other, the most important harmony 00:28:57.03\00:28:59.74 that must exist is not between each other, 00:28:59.75\00:29:02.17 but between that denomination and the Bible. 00:29:02.18\00:29:04.73 See because sometimes people may say, 00:29:04.74\00:29:06.67 well, I know 35 denominations that believed that. 00:29:06.68\00:29:09.47 Well, if it's not supported by scripture, 00:29:09.48\00:29:11.30 it's just denominationalism. 00:29:11.31\00:29:12.46 Yeah, and I think what we're talking about here 00:29:12.47\00:29:13.91 is the narrowing down of the picture of God's truth, 00:29:13.92\00:29:17.43 right, by the number of beliefs 00:29:17.44\00:29:19.44 that coincide with the word of God. 00:29:19.45\00:29:21.87 And there are definitely, I mean, 00:29:21.88\00:29:22.96 to even call yourself a church, 00:29:22.97\00:29:24.64 you've got to at least coincide with 00:29:24.65\00:29:26.28 some truths of God's word. 00:29:26.29\00:29:28.76 What is the old adage John there, 00:29:28.77\00:29:31.29 you know, the worst kind of poison 00:29:31.30\00:29:33.14 is the one disguised. 00:29:33.15\00:29:35.21 If you go into your cupboard and you see a bottle 00:29:35.22\00:29:37.38 that is poisoned with skull and crossbones on it, 00:29:37.39\00:29:40.20 you're gonna stay away form that, 00:29:40.21\00:29:41.22 you're not gonna take it and drink it. 00:29:41.23\00:29:42.94 But if you take a few drops and put it in some food 00:29:42.95\00:29:45.20 and kind of mix it with other food 00:29:45.21\00:29:46.46 and you hand it out to somebody, it's deadly, why? 00:29:46.47\00:29:49.37 Because you don't realize, it's poison, 00:29:49.38\00:29:50.90 because of all the wonderful food 00:29:50.91\00:29:52.56 that appears to be there. Right. 00:29:52.57\00:29:54.91 So, you know, there is a smorgasbord of food 00:29:54.92\00:29:57.80 so to speak, the bread of life, 00:29:57.81\00:29:59.37 the word of God in all these churches. 00:29:59.38\00:30:02.14 Is that smorgasbord does it have poison in it 00:30:02.15\00:30:05.22 or is it pure? 00:30:05.23\00:30:06.63 And it effects the way we see. Absolutely. 00:30:06.64\00:30:08.86 You know, I was in, in Australia few years ago 00:30:09.01\00:30:11.60 and for my contact lenses I have a fluid 00:30:11.61\00:30:15.85 by the side of my belt little eye drops, rewetting drops. 00:30:15.86\00:30:20.36 But in the journey, I don't want to take, 00:30:20.37\00:30:22.16 I had also cleaner for my glasses, 00:30:22.17\00:30:24.70 whenever I wore my glasses 00:30:24.71\00:30:26.14 and unfortunately it was in a little tiny tube also, 00:30:26.15\00:30:28.64 but had a light mixture of alcohol 00:30:28.65\00:30:30.32 and some of the saline in it just the, 00:30:30.33\00:30:32.39 you know, evaporate when you wipe the glasses. 00:30:32.40\00:30:34.49 Well during the night or in the morning 00:30:34.50\00:30:36.43 when I woke up I picked up the wrong dropper 00:30:36.44\00:30:38.94 and I drop that alcohol in my eye 00:30:38.95\00:30:42.36 to rewet my contact lens, well to say, 00:30:42.37\00:30:44.87 to say that I screamed, I did scream audibly 00:30:44.88\00:30:47.99 because it would have scared my wife to death. 00:30:48.00\00:30:50.33 But internally I was going and I've got up in the, 00:30:50.34\00:30:55.63 with one eye open the left eye went to the bathroom 00:30:55.64\00:30:58.24 and just started throwing water on my eye 00:30:58.25\00:31:00.66 and I washed it out. 00:31:00.67\00:31:02.67 So what happens is false teachings can lie 00:31:02.68\00:31:06.85 so close to true that you pick up one 00:31:06.86\00:31:10.03 and it affect the way you see 00:31:10.04\00:31:11.94 and that's usually what happens in Christendom. 00:31:11.95\00:31:13.91 We accept what other churches give to us, 00:31:13.92\00:31:16.47 they package it almost identical to the way 00:31:16.48\00:31:18.39 the Bible is packaged. 00:31:18.40\00:31:20.28 And then we, it effects the way 00:31:20.29\00:31:22.87 we see the word of God and what the Bible teaches. 00:31:22.88\00:31:25.58 And you have to look closely 00:31:25.59\00:31:27.39 to distinguish between the two, 00:31:27.40\00:31:29.01 had you really examine closely, 00:31:29.02\00:31:30.89 rather than just remaining in the dark to wet your eyes? 00:31:30.90\00:31:33.55 And that was the key. 00:31:33.56\00:31:34.54 You would have figured out that 00:31:34.55\00:31:35.99 what you are putting in your eye was not rewetting drops. 00:31:36.00\00:31:38.97 There are so many parallels there, 00:31:38.98\00:31:40.30 because I did it in the dark 00:31:40.31\00:31:42.37 and that's usually what happens 00:31:42.38\00:31:43.45 when you're in the dark, 00:31:43.46\00:31:44.43 you accept those things based on feeling. Right. 00:31:44.44\00:31:46.45 Not based on what you actually see. Right. 00:31:46.46\00:31:48.18 And that's what happened during the Dark Ages, 00:31:48.19\00:31:50.25 people operated in the dark 00:31:50.26\00:31:51.73 and many things came into the church, 00:31:51.74\00:31:53.47 because they could not see in fact, 00:31:53.48\00:31:57.13 to distinguish between truth and error, 00:31:57.14\00:31:58.68 they had no access to the Bible's. 00:31:58.69\00:32:00.67 And so that illustration would be 00:32:00.68\00:32:02.17 the Bible is the right solution, 00:32:02.18\00:32:05.06 and if I turned the light on 00:32:05.07\00:32:08.21 or if that was an age of enlightenment 00:32:08.22\00:32:10.16 I would be able to see 00:32:10.17\00:32:11.17 the difference between right and wrong. 00:32:11.18\00:32:12.80 But five, let's just talk about five things 00:32:12.81\00:32:16.60 that Roman Catholicism has in common 00:32:16.61\00:32:19.74 with much of Christendom and including Adventists. 00:32:19.75\00:32:24.00 One of those is the teaching of God had, 00:32:24.01\00:32:26.81 the Father, Son, and the Holy Spirit. 00:32:26.82\00:32:29.20 As a matter of fact some denominations 00:32:29.21\00:32:30.70 go to great length to say when-- 00:32:30.71\00:32:33.48 when we say, we baptize you in the name of the Father, 00:32:33.49\00:32:36.21 and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. 00:32:36.22\00:32:37.83 Lot of denominations say, 00:32:37.84\00:32:38.91 ah, you guys are following the Catholics. 00:32:38.92\00:32:40.96 No, we're actually following Matthew 28, verse 18 to 20 00:32:40.97\00:32:44.29 where Jesus Himself said, Go ye therefore, 00:32:44.30\00:32:47.11 and baptize them, teaching them to observe all things 00:32:47.12\00:32:50.99 and He talked about baptizing in the name of the Father, 00:32:51.00\00:32:53.22 of the Son, of the Holy Spirit. 00:32:53.23\00:32:54.78 Well people say, what's the name of? 00:32:54.79\00:32:56.94 Well, the word there is in the Greek, the authority of. 00:32:56.95\00:33:00.62 So whether I come into the authority of the Father, 00:33:00.63\00:33:03.01 Son, and the Holy Spirit, 00:33:03.02\00:33:04.17 I'm coming in the same authority. 00:33:04.18\00:33:07.12 So that's one thing that's held 00:33:07.13\00:33:08.29 in common with Catholicism and much of mainline 00:33:08.30\00:33:11.08 Christianity including Adventist. 00:33:11.09\00:33:13.27 The other one is the virgin birth of Christ. 00:33:13.28\00:33:16.30 Now we believe in the virgin birth of Christ 00:33:16.31\00:33:17.98 and they believe in a virgin birth of Christ. 00:33:17.99\00:33:20.65 But they have something else 00:33:20.66\00:33:24.62 that's often used in the term Immaculate Conception-- 00:33:24.63\00:33:28.50 Yeah, we'll talk about that. 00:33:28.51\00:33:29.66 You know, we'll talk about that briefly. 00:33:29.67\00:33:31.21 We don't go down that, 00:33:31.22\00:33:33.51 that line of the Immaculate Conception, 00:33:33.52\00:33:36.54 meaning that there is some difference. 00:33:36.55\00:33:39.23 Mary was the vessel that God shows. Right. 00:33:39.24\00:33:42.55 But as far as preeminence in the state of, 00:33:42.56\00:33:44.94 you know, having any kind of divinity in up 00:33:44.95\00:33:47.82 and our self is not what we support. Right. 00:33:47.83\00:33:51.59 The other one is, the necessity of obeying God. 00:33:51.60\00:33:55.88 Most religions, including Catholics teach 00:33:55.89\00:33:58.58 that it's important to be obedient 00:33:58.59\00:34:00.48 to God has outlined in His word, 00:34:00.49\00:34:04.48 but John the only problem with that is many Catholics. 00:34:04.49\00:34:07.06 And I know my family is 99% Catholic. 00:34:07.07\00:34:09.75 Catholics don't really read the Bible 00:34:09.76\00:34:11.94 on a continual bases. 00:34:11.95\00:34:13.63 Now there are some that are an exception to the rule. 00:34:13.64\00:34:16.70 Some of them hold their Bible by their bed, 00:34:16.71\00:34:18.82 they read their Bibles, but also they read their missal 00:34:18.83\00:34:22.29 or they read the Douay Version 00:34:22.30\00:34:25.88 which is often known as Catholic Bible. 00:34:25.89\00:34:29.79 Although there is not a whole lot of difference 00:34:29.80\00:34:31.80 in the content in some ways 00:34:31.81\00:34:33.39 you have to microbes and all that. 00:34:33.40\00:34:35.43 But in on the fifth point that is held in common, 00:34:35.44\00:34:38.71 many Catholics believe in the seconds coming of Christ. 00:34:38.72\00:34:43.11 They are some variations in that area also. 00:34:43.12\00:34:47.95 So to recap the God had 00:34:47.96\00:34:50.55 the virgin birth of Christ obedience to God. 00:34:50.56\00:34:56.04 The other one I didn't mention was 00:34:56.05\00:34:57.33 inspiration of scripture. 00:34:57.34\00:34:59.40 They believe that the Bible was inspired by God. 00:34:59.41\00:35:01.93 The problem sometimes comes in 00:35:01.94\00:35:03.91 and who has the right to interpret it, 00:35:03.92\00:35:05.66 that's where the weakness comes in between us. 00:35:05.67\00:35:08.42 We say the Holy Spirit is one that's teaching you, 00:35:08.43\00:35:11.36 but lot of times the authority is given 00:35:11.37\00:35:14.14 over to the Priests and the Popes 00:35:14.15\00:35:16.07 and the Bishops for them to interpret scripture 00:35:16.08\00:35:18.66 for the common man to understand, 00:35:18.67\00:35:20.98 that's where we vary, because we believe in praying 00:35:20.99\00:35:23.30 and opening the Bible and understanding it. 00:35:23.31\00:35:25.69 Matter of fact through the leading 00:35:25.70\00:35:26.80 of the Holy Spirit we get to understand 00:35:26.81\00:35:28.22 and know the Bible for ourselves. 00:35:28.23\00:35:29.51 And I think what you're saying here 00:35:29.52\00:35:30.54 the general point is that, we believe and see that 00:35:30.55\00:35:34.31 even within Roman Catholicism 00:35:34.32\00:35:36.43 there are some baseline measures 00:35:36.44\00:35:37.98 at least on the surface there are commonalities 00:35:37.99\00:35:41.10 with other faith groups 00:35:41.11\00:35:43.36 and with the doctrine of scripture. 00:35:43.37\00:35:46.42 Beyond that though we do know that 00:35:46.43\00:35:48.47 there are some problematic teachings 00:35:48.48\00:35:49.93 and there is fairly extensive list of those 00:35:49.94\00:35:52.44 which is where we start to see that, 00:35:52.45\00:35:54.50 the church separates from that 00:35:54.51\00:35:56.05 and I wanted to mention one of these, 00:35:56.06\00:35:58.07 because it really lies rise at the top 00:35:58.08\00:36:00.35 and where a lot of these are actually flowing from. 00:36:00.36\00:36:04.12 And that is the tradition that, 00:36:04.13\00:36:09.48 tradition is held above scripture and authority. 00:36:09.49\00:36:12.98 So the mother church they believe 00:36:12.99\00:36:14.92 and let's, we can go back little bit 00:36:14.93\00:36:16.55 that the Roman Catholic Church, 00:36:16.56\00:36:18.37 they believe the first Pope was Peter. 00:36:18.38\00:36:21.41 And that of course, is found, 00:36:21.42\00:36:23.23 they believe it's found in Matthew Chapter 16 00:36:23.24\00:36:25.71 verses 18 and 19. 00:36:25.72\00:36:28.71 We see that as a misuse 00:36:28.72\00:36:30.32 or misapplication of that scripture, 00:36:30.33\00:36:31.84 because Christ was not bestowing upon Peter 00:36:31.85\00:36:34.28 the authority for the church whatsoever. 00:36:34.29\00:36:38.26 In fact, the two words that you, 00:36:38.27\00:36:39.73 uses of the word "petra" 00:36:39.74\00:36:41.03 and "petros" are different there, 00:36:41.04\00:36:42.42 the rock, the small pebble, I mean there is definitely 00:36:42.43\00:36:45.58 a difference in the rock Christ Jesus 00:36:45.59\00:36:47.46 from what Peter was. 00:36:47.47\00:36:48.70 Right, and the Bible interprets the rock, 00:36:48.71\00:36:50.99 1st Corinthians 10 verse 4, 00:36:51.00\00:36:52.92 that rock was Christ. Right. 00:36:52.93\00:36:55.25 So it doesn't show. 00:36:55.26\00:36:56.85 Matter of fact if you just ask the simple question 00:36:56.86\00:36:59.12 if the church is built on Peter? 00:36:59.13\00:37:01.67 Where would the church have been after Peter failed? 00:37:01.68\00:37:04.74 The church of falsehood. Right. 00:37:04.75\00:37:06.52 But it was not built on Peter. 00:37:06.53\00:37:08.19 And so, you know, as we think about that 00:37:08.20\00:37:11.04 where it originated, where it began. 00:37:11.05\00:37:13.84 Their mentality was that Christ was transferring 00:37:13.85\00:37:16.80 the authority to the church through the first Pope 00:37:16.81\00:37:20.65 for all matters of ecclesiology 00:37:20.66\00:37:23.53 and for doctrine and for all teachings. Right. 00:37:23.54\00:37:26.83 And application of discipline and everything that happens 00:37:26.84\00:37:29.44 on this earth with regard to the church, 00:37:29.45\00:37:31.91 which is where it gets the term that uses, 00:37:31.92\00:37:33.56 we commonly we use the term that it's the mother church. 00:37:33.57\00:37:37.39 And it says when Protestants reformed 00:37:37.40\00:37:39.81 or at least protested against Rome 00:37:39.82\00:37:42.86 if they were the children 00:37:42.87\00:37:44.20 that still need to comeback. Right-- 00:37:44.21\00:37:45.96 That's where the ecumenical movement, 00:37:45.97\00:37:48.18 ecumenism is the coming, 00:37:48.19\00:37:49.37 they are gathering together into one is still at work 00:37:49.38\00:37:51.98 within the mother church to bring her children back. 00:37:51.99\00:37:54.54 That's right, it's worldwide. 00:37:54.55\00:37:56.05 So it is a worldwide church, it is a billion people. 00:37:56.06\00:37:59.29 So you are talking about almost 20% of the world 00:37:59.30\00:38:02.68 identifies with Roman Catholicism, 00:38:02.69\00:38:04.68 so it's quite large, but I want to bring up 00:38:04.69\00:38:06.58 the issue of tradition over scripture. Okay. 00:38:06.59\00:38:08.37 Because, you know, the other teachings 00:38:08.38\00:38:10.02 what we are finding is stuff it's not in the word 00:38:10.03\00:38:13.66 is being taught or imposed by the mother church, 00:38:13.67\00:38:17.60 because it claims the authority to do so. 00:38:17.61\00:38:19.96 Yeah, that's a very, very good point, 00:38:19.97\00:38:23.10 when you par lay tradition on the same level as the Bible, 00:38:23.11\00:38:29.17 then you almost give them both equal authority. 00:38:29.18\00:38:32.33 And that's the way that Rome was able to stand up 00:38:32.34\00:38:37.18 against the reformers like Luther and Hus 00:38:37.19\00:38:42.07 and Jerome and Wycliffe, they were able to say well, 00:38:42.08\00:38:45.50 we have exulted the Bible or exulted tradition 00:38:45.51\00:38:49.56 on the same platform of the Bible. 00:38:49.57\00:38:50.97 They actually say above. Yeah. 00:38:50.98\00:38:52.38 The trumps scripture. True. Yeah. 00:38:52.39\00:38:55.08 And that was, there was the sacred tradition 00:38:55.09\00:39:01.34 and there is. 00:39:01.35\00:39:02.87 Oh, I have the terms, it will come back to me in a moment. 00:39:02.88\00:39:05.49 But it was based on the fact 00:39:05.50\00:39:06.54 that they honored traditions. Right. 00:39:06.55\00:39:08.86 That they said we're not listed in the Bible, 00:39:08.87\00:39:12.01 for example you use a text in John where it says 00:39:12.02\00:39:14.85 and there are many other things 00:39:14.86\00:39:15.96 that Jesus did. Right. 00:39:15.97\00:39:17.83 They said, oh, see so it there, 00:39:17.84\00:39:19.65 he didn't write them down, 00:39:19.66\00:39:20.87 but there are many other things that He did, 00:39:20.88\00:39:23.37 so how do we ind out? 00:39:23.38\00:39:25.06 We look at the traditions of the Christian church 00:39:25.07\00:39:28.48 and we begin to sanctum, 00:39:28.49\00:39:29.80 we begin to give them equal platform 00:39:29.81\00:39:33.09 or in some cases exulting it above the Bible. Yeah. 00:39:33.10\00:39:36.25 But we have to be careful with that, 00:39:36.26\00:39:37.69 because when the Bible says, 00:39:37.70\00:39:39.20 all scripture is given by inspiration of God. 00:39:39.21\00:39:41.51 He is also in essence saying all the knowledge necessary 00:39:41.52\00:39:44.43 for salvation is revealed to us. 00:39:44.44\00:39:46.25 And Jesus also strongly rebuke the Pharisees 00:39:46.26\00:39:49.30 for honoring traditions above scripture because it said, 00:39:49.31\00:39:52.43 you forsake the commandments of God 00:39:52.44\00:39:53.83 for the sake of your tradition. 00:39:53.84\00:39:55.98 So even the scripture itself tells us very clearly 00:39:55.99\00:39:58.90 traditions are never to be elevated 00:39:58.91\00:40:00.71 above the commandments, 00:40:00.72\00:40:02.11 the word of God. 00:40:02.15\00:40:03.93 And so, anyway there are some things here 00:40:03.94\00:40:06.55 that I think we'd like to go through fairly quickly, sure, 00:40:06.56\00:40:08.57 because we don't have a lot of time to do this 00:40:08.58\00:40:10.09 and this isn't meant to be in depth, 00:40:10.10\00:40:11.54 it's just to point out some basic issues, 00:40:11.55\00:40:14.40 for those of you who aren't aware, 00:40:14.41\00:40:16.11 the first protester so to speak that 00:40:16.12\00:40:20.05 became very visible was Mark Luther. 00:40:20.06\00:40:22.39 All right, who nailed his theses to the wall, 00:40:22.40\00:40:28.17 the door, excuse me, of the church. 00:40:28.18\00:40:31.88 In Wittenberg. In Wittenberg, 00:40:31.89\00:40:33.00 that's right and so I'm looking 00:40:33.01\00:40:34.73 for a date here on my notes, but, 00:40:34.74\00:40:38.96 oh, I know it's here somewhere. 00:40:38.97\00:40:42.98 I think it's around 15. 00:40:42.99\00:40:44.00 Fifteen, seventeen, here we go, 00:40:44.01\00:40:44.99 I know I had here, its 95 theses. 00:40:45.00\00:40:46.54 So as we go through, 00:40:46.55\00:40:48.64 when we look at the protest there 00:40:48.65\00:40:51.12 that he made through his theses. 00:40:51.13\00:40:53.54 We're finding that these doctrines 00:40:53.55\00:40:55.21 are the things that he objected to. Right. 00:40:55.22\00:40:56.97 Many of them and their abuse of these doctrines 00:40:56.98\00:40:59.67 in the service of God to the people that it was over. 00:40:59.68\00:41:04.83 And so just let share some of these things 00:41:04.84\00:41:06.58 that they do believe and these, 00:41:06.59\00:41:08.77 most of these things are found, 00:41:08.78\00:41:10.18 we didn't do any research that requires, you know, 00:41:10.19\00:41:15.30 super knowledge you can find these kind of stuff, 00:41:15.31\00:41:17.14 we're not saying, 00:41:17.15\00:41:18.12 giving you anything that is not well known 00:41:18.13\00:41:20.21 and that the church itself, 00:41:20.22\00:41:22.17 the Roman Catholic Church doesn't profess to believe. 00:41:22.18\00:41:26.31 Okay, one of them is the people supremacy. 00:41:26.32\00:41:32.20 There are denominations that still 00:41:32.21\00:41:38.05 identify themselves as Catholic, 00:41:38.06\00:41:40.94 but the reason why they are not linked 00:41:40.95\00:41:43.00 to the Catholic Church, 00:41:43.01\00:41:44.59 like in some avenues of Anglicanism, 00:41:44.60\00:41:46.99 is they don't honor the supremacy of the Pope. 00:41:47.00\00:41:50.93 They don't honor him as infallible. 00:41:50.94\00:41:53.14 They don't see him in the position 00:41:53.15\00:41:55.18 that he sees himself. 00:41:55.19\00:41:56.57 So there are those who may embrace 00:41:56.58\00:41:58.23 some of the catholic teachings, 00:41:58.24\00:41:59.84 but when it comes to the exultation of this man 00:41:59.85\00:42:02.28 as he where God on earth, 00:42:02.29\00:42:03.84 they reject that particular aspect of him. 00:42:03.85\00:42:07.21 So one of the ones that is not scripturally 00:42:07.22\00:42:09.11 based is the people successions, 00:42:09.12\00:42:11.98 Peter being the first Pope. 00:42:11.99\00:42:13.80 You actually serve the question 00:42:13.81\00:42:15.38 well then why do Popes not marry. 00:42:15.39\00:42:18.10 Peter was clearly a married man. 00:42:18.11\00:42:20.46 So you find that's one of the one's 00:42:20.47\00:42:22.10 that's not supported by the Bible, 00:42:22.11\00:42:23.96 that Peter was the first Pope. 00:42:23.97\00:42:25.67 But the other one is the sacraments, 00:42:25.68\00:42:29.81 the concept that God dispense 00:42:29.82\00:42:31.51 His grace through the sacraments of baptism, 00:42:31.52\00:42:33.69 confirmation, confession, Holy Communion marriage, 00:42:33.70\00:42:36.39 holy orders or extreme unction. 00:42:36.40\00:42:39.34 These are things that your are giving 00:42:39.35\00:42:43.45 sanctification to the sacraments 00:42:43.46\00:42:46.78 and not salvation by grace through faith. 00:42:46.79\00:42:50.34 This once again builds on the system of works 00:42:50.35\00:42:52.76 and there are many, 00:42:52.77\00:42:53.74 there are many in Catholicism. 00:42:53.75\00:42:56.54 I remember growing up 00:42:56.55\00:42:58.48 and going to Catholic Church 00:42:58.49\00:43:01.54 and lighting a candle and, you know, 00:43:01.55\00:43:03.90 you get in and you do the Sign of the Cross, 00:43:03.91\00:43:07.00 you pray the Rosary. 00:43:07.01\00:43:08.19 There are so many, 00:43:08.20\00:43:09.17 so many things that are connect to the acts of works. 00:43:09.18\00:43:12.68 The sacraments many of those 00:43:12.69\00:43:15.81 are also put in that particular category 00:43:15.82\00:43:18.39 as important and essential. 00:43:18.40\00:43:20.73 Well, because it to them 00:43:20.74\00:43:22.46 it's the dispensing of holiness. Right. 00:43:22.47\00:43:24.58 The actual true holiness through these sacraments, 00:43:24.59\00:43:28.12 one of them clearly being communion, 00:43:28.13\00:43:29.92 there is something called transubstantiation 00:43:29.93\00:43:32.04 which is the way for itself. 00:43:32.05\00:43:34.45 Litterally becomes the body of Christ, 00:43:34.46\00:43:36.82 representation of Christ. 00:43:36.83\00:43:38.48 And so that's where the holiness of the, 00:43:38.49\00:43:40.42 the holy communion which they called it, 00:43:40.43\00:43:42.56 comes through and then infuses 00:43:42.57\00:43:44.32 the believer with that holiness 00:43:44.33\00:43:46.42 that comes from God, the sanctification process. 00:43:46.43\00:43:49.66 And we know that's not scriptural, 00:43:49.67\00:43:51.32 because Jesus said to His disciples 00:43:51.33\00:43:54.97 when He gave them the bread 00:43:54.98\00:43:56.25 and the wine, He referred to eating my flesh 00:43:56.26\00:43:59.26 and drinking my blood while He was right there, 00:43:59.27\00:44:01.70 He was right in front of them. 00:44:01.71\00:44:03.28 So they were not eating Him, 00:44:03.29\00:44:05.31 but they were partaking of that 00:44:05.32\00:44:06.68 as an act of Him shedding His blood, 00:44:06.69\00:44:09.05 of Him about to have 00:44:09.06\00:44:11.56 His body broken for their redemption. 00:44:11.57\00:44:13.85 So it's not the actual what's that word again? 00:44:13.86\00:44:17.34 Transubstantiation. Transubstantiation of turning 00:44:17.35\00:44:21.45 this way for in the actual body of Christ. Right. 00:44:21.46\00:44:24.50 It reminds me of years ago 00:44:24.51\00:44:25.48 when I was watching particular 00:44:25.49\00:44:26.99 show in television, 00:44:27.00\00:44:27.97 there was a pastor selling splinters to the cross 00:44:27.98\00:44:31.01 and there was enough splinters 00:44:31.02\00:44:32.67 to make trees in hole of the Yellowstone. 00:44:32.68\00:44:36.58 Well, we know that was not the case. 00:44:36.59\00:44:38.89 The other one is. 00:44:38.90\00:44:39.87 Wasn't say, we've got one here that's pertly, 00:44:39.88\00:44:41.83 you know, we is fairly well known purgatory. 00:44:41.84\00:44:44.97 You know, purgatory teach the teaching 00:44:44.98\00:44:46.42 if there is an intermediate state for those who, 00:44:46.43\00:44:49.76 you know, didn't really believe in God, 00:44:49.77\00:44:51.15 but weren't really that bad 00:44:51.16\00:44:52.20 and they had a chance, 00:44:52.21\00:44:53.18 it was a time 00:44:53.19\00:44:54.16 and opportunity for them to become purified. 00:44:54.17\00:44:56.67 They did that through suffering, 00:44:56.68\00:44:58.15 bodily suffering, experiencing 00:44:58.16\00:44:59.82 the suffering of purgatory 00:44:59.83\00:45:01.35 until they were purified of their sin 00:45:01.36\00:45:03.52 able to be translated to them heaven from that point on. 00:45:03.53\00:45:07.35 And so there is this teaching of purgatory, 00:45:07.36\00:45:09.63 but there is no real basis for that within scripture. 00:45:09.64\00:45:13.65 Because scripture clearly teaches 00:45:13.66\00:45:15.80 that at the resurrection, 00:45:15.81\00:45:17.43 that is when God will take His people 00:45:17.44\00:45:19.06 directly to heaven with no intermediate stop. 00:45:19.07\00:45:22.84 I was also mindful of the purgatory aspect 00:45:22.85\00:45:25.72 but then also the limbo. 00:45:25.73\00:45:27.46 See purgatory was for the adults, 00:45:27.47\00:45:29.11 limbo was for the child that wasn't baptized. 00:45:29.12\00:45:33.15 That's why it's common to baptize infants 00:45:33.16\00:45:35.64 at certain point after their birth, 00:45:35.65\00:45:37.60 because, you know, 00:45:37.61\00:45:38.66 they believe that this, 00:45:38.67\00:45:39.84 phrase called original sin, 00:45:39.85\00:45:42.53 they have to purge the child of original sin. 00:45:42.54\00:45:45.04 So they, so the child can be saved. 00:45:45.05\00:45:48.00 Well baptism is to the Christian 00:45:48.01\00:45:49.26 where marriage is to everyone else. 00:45:49.27\00:45:51.32 You have to understand, you know, 00:45:51.33\00:45:52.33 that you are marking a commitment there. 00:45:52.34\00:45:53.95 So the purgatory aspects 00:45:53.96\00:45:55.67 are not supported by scripture. 00:45:55.68\00:45:57.04 The other one was, 00:45:57.05\00:45:58.36 you mention when we go tradition of the Bible. 00:45:58.37\00:46:00.75 Tradition is not above the Bible, 00:46:00.76\00:46:02.63 just simply look at the words of Christ. 00:46:02.64\00:46:05.01 He says in vain you worship Me 00:46:05.02\00:46:06.55 for the sake of your traditions. 00:46:06.56\00:46:08.36 So are all traditions bad and the answer is no, 00:46:08.37\00:46:13.25 but whenever tradition is exulted above the Bible 00:46:13.26\00:46:16.83 and whenever removes the direct command of God. 00:46:16.84\00:46:19.81 One of those great, great traditions 00:46:19.82\00:46:21.80 we'll get to in a moment, 00:46:21.81\00:46:22.80 but just to insert that right here 00:46:22.81\00:46:24.33 and go back 00:46:24.34\00:46:25.31 and built on it later is Sunday worship. 00:46:25.32\00:46:29.26 Purely traditional, 00:46:29.27\00:46:31.92 totally non-scriptural, 00:46:31.93\00:46:33.50 but is a tradition that gained ascendancy 00:46:33.51\00:46:36.34 through the centuries 00:46:36.35\00:46:37.45 and it's now looked at as a holy day. 00:46:37.46\00:46:40.72 It's like somebody living together for 30 years 00:46:40.73\00:46:43.46 and all of a sudden, well something, 00:46:43.47\00:46:44.97 well they married. 00:46:44.98\00:46:46.92 But you go and try to collect social security 00:46:46.93\00:46:49.04 on people that lived together for 30 years. 00:46:49.05\00:46:51.81 I've no records of that. 00:46:51.82\00:46:53.26 And history is recorded pretty well on this issue. 00:46:53.27\00:46:55.66 Yeah. In that the first Sunday worship 00:46:55.67\00:47:00.81 or observance of worship occurred 00:47:00.82\00:47:03.78 after Constantine's conversion 00:47:03.79\00:47:06.53 where he declared venerable day of the sun, 00:47:06.54\00:47:08.57 worked as a gathering together for worship purposes 00:47:08.58\00:47:11.90 and it called pagans in that area 00:47:11.91\00:47:13.60 when Christianity was becoming more popular 00:47:13.61\00:47:15.87 now than paganism to begin to transition the day, 00:47:15.88\00:47:19.50 the pagan day of observing the sun God 00:47:19.51\00:47:22.46 to a day to observe and worship Christ. Right. 00:47:22.47\00:47:26.52 Sunday and it was done in accordance 00:47:26.53\00:47:29.85 with and in the same timing as Sabbath 00:47:29.86\00:47:31.93 was still being observe by the early church. 00:47:31.94\00:47:33.97 So you have them side by side for a time, 00:47:33.98\00:47:36.86 but then over, as that occurred for, 00:47:36.87\00:47:39.17 for a period toward the, 00:47:39.18\00:47:42.55 after probably 20, 30, 40 years, 00:47:42.56\00:47:44.87 you were seeing that. 00:47:44.88\00:47:45.85 The Sabbath became more 00:47:45.86\00:47:47.38 and more of a picture of what the Jews did, 00:47:47.39\00:47:49.58 not what Christians did and thus it 00:47:49.59\00:47:51.85 became the official tradition of 00:47:51.86\00:47:54.21 "The Mother Church." Right. 00:47:54.22\00:47:56.49 Which is where we see then 00:47:56.50\00:47:58.03 it was passed on to her children. 00:47:58.04\00:48:01.47 And we'll talk about that in a future program, 00:48:01.48\00:48:03.41 but it did start clearly 00:48:03.42\00:48:05.45 and history teaches, 00:48:05.46\00:48:06.69 even their own history teaches that's 00:48:06.70\00:48:08.43 where Sunday worships first began. 00:48:08.44\00:48:11.21 And where it was prevalent among the, 00:48:11.22\00:48:13.90 among those who are not Christians, 00:48:13.91\00:48:16.21 but actually began to start making his way 00:48:16.22\00:48:18.73 in an evolving sense about 168 AD. 00:48:18.74\00:48:21.75 But prior to that, it was just pagan observance. 00:48:21.76\00:48:24.94 Right, yeah, 00:48:24.95\00:48:25.93 I mean that the rules were here are clearly, 00:48:25.94\00:48:27.17 it was just official declaration 00:48:27.18\00:48:28.55 that came through. Exactly. Yeah. Another one is. 00:48:28.56\00:48:31.68 Yeah, immortality of the soul, 00:48:31.69\00:48:32.86 I don't think you mention that 00:48:32.87\00:48:33.84 one yet, because that wasn't. 00:48:33.85\00:48:34.82 I didn't mention that one, good. 00:48:34.83\00:48:36.06 Sure, immortality of the soul, 00:48:36.07\00:48:37.12 we've mentioned this many times before, 00:48:37.13\00:48:38.50 but they believe that the soul is a mortal, 00:48:38.51\00:48:41.00 it cannot be killed, they cannot die, 00:48:41.01\00:48:43.09 that even when the body die 00:48:43.10\00:48:44.07 the soul separates from the body goes to purgatory 00:48:44.08\00:48:47.09 or if you are absolutely good enough 00:48:47.10\00:48:49.14 and maybe you've received sainthood 00:48:49.15\00:48:51.68 you might go directly to heaven. 00:48:51.69\00:48:53.59 So anyway that, that teaching 00:48:53.60\00:48:55.82 was clearly part of the Roman Catholic Church. 00:48:55.83\00:48:59.18 And the immortality of the soul, 00:48:59.19\00:49:02.38 let me just make a comment on the sainthood part. 00:49:02.39\00:49:04.92 Usually a person is declared 00:49:04.93\00:49:06.56 a saint years after they died, 00:49:06.57\00:49:09.41 they are exulted to, you know, saint whatever, 00:49:09.42\00:49:12.66 saint whatever he has been. In purgatory. 00:49:12.67\00:49:15.17 Because they are recommended for sainthood, 00:49:15.18\00:49:17.60 rather than becoming a saint and go to heaven, 00:49:17.61\00:49:19.89 but in the sense of Christian saints. 00:49:19.90\00:49:23.57 So you have two kinds of saints. Right. 00:49:23.58\00:49:25.49 Those who are saints following Christ, 00:49:25.50\00:49:27.79 the Bible talks about the saints here 00:49:27.80\00:49:29.92 and the saints there 00:49:29.93\00:49:30.90 and then you have sainthood. Right. 00:49:30.91\00:49:33.00 Which is a recommendation made 00:49:33.01\00:49:34.38 and they just determine 00:49:34.39\00:49:35.40 whether or not this person is followed all the--. 00:49:35.41\00:49:38.30 I've met all the qualifications 00:49:38.31\00:49:39.90 to be sainted or as the phrase will be knighted. 00:49:39.91\00:49:44.53 The other one is Immaculate Conception, 00:49:44.54\00:49:48.87 the idea that Jesus was sinless, 00:49:48.88\00:49:50.81 because Mary was miraculously protected 00:49:50.82\00:49:56.68 from sin by the Holy Spirit. 00:49:56.69\00:49:59.06 Mary wasn't sinless, 00:49:59.07\00:50:02.24 but you find that this Immaculate Conception idea 00:50:02.25\00:50:07.32 is based on idea that Mary was sinless. 00:50:07.33\00:50:10.82 And so therefore that's the only way 00:50:10.83\00:50:12.36 that Jesus could be sinless. Right. 00:50:12.37\00:50:14.10 Now Jesus came in the likeness 00:50:14.11\00:50:17.74 of sinful flesh. Right. 00:50:17.75\00:50:19.99 Okay, the Bible says that, 00:50:20.00\00:50:21.67 so how do you get, 00:50:21.68\00:50:22.65 how do you get sinful flesh? 00:50:22.66\00:50:24.25 You get it from your mom. 00:50:24.26\00:50:26.05 Okay, that's clearly, 00:50:26.06\00:50:27.81 so Mary was not sinless 00:50:27.82\00:50:29.68 and therefore making Jesus sinless, 00:50:29.69\00:50:32.36 that teaching would make it appears 00:50:32.37\00:50:34.08 though Jesus received His sinlessness from Mary 00:50:34.09\00:50:36.90 and not His preexistence as Jesus. Right. And. 00:50:36.91\00:50:41.55 There are some others that 00:50:41.56\00:50:43.18 we need to move through very fairly quickly here, 00:50:43.19\00:50:45.33 because we're almost to the end of the program, 00:50:45.34\00:50:46.78 but--. One is very big confession. 00:50:46.79\00:50:48.77 Yeah, confession to an earthly 00:50:48.78\00:50:50.04 mediator or priest and by their, 00:50:50.05\00:50:52.10 the virtue of their authority, 00:50:52.11\00:50:53.44 they also claim to be the only mediator 00:50:53.45\00:50:55.32 between man and God. 00:50:55.33\00:50:57.21 You have to go through a priest 00:50:57.22\00:50:58.84 to receive absolution from your sin. 00:50:58.85\00:51:02.37 You must confess to a priest then 00:51:02.38\00:51:04.54 you're absolved from the sin. 00:51:04.55\00:51:05.84 And that could involve something else, 00:51:05.85\00:51:07.91 once you confess and involve. 00:51:07.92\00:51:09.70 Our next one is indulgences 00:51:09.71\00:51:11.56 and this is one of the huge things that 00:51:11.57\00:51:13.58 Martin Luther protested against this thesis. 00:51:13.59\00:51:15.87 The license to sin. 00:51:15.88\00:51:16.85 The license to sin and then payment 00:51:16.86\00:51:19.76 to receive indulgences 00:51:19.77\00:51:20.88 from the church to be absolved from those sins, 00:51:20.89\00:51:24.13 it's just was a misuse and abuse, 00:51:24.14\00:51:26.32 not only of scripture, 00:51:26.33\00:51:27.30 but of God's design and plan for salvation. 00:51:27.31\00:51:30.11 If you look at the history of the Dark Ages, 00:51:30.12\00:51:32.77 it will do, you were to look at some of these things, 00:51:32.78\00:51:34.74 these massive monstrosities of cathedrals 00:51:34.75\00:51:37.67 that came up and spring up all throughout Europe 00:51:37.68\00:51:41.13 where the Rome reigned. 00:51:41.14\00:51:42.89 All the results of the sales of indulgences, 00:51:42.90\00:51:47.37 the result of people paying to get their 00:51:47.38\00:51:49.31 loved ones out of purgatory, 00:51:49.32\00:51:50.71 paying the church to pray their loved ones, 00:51:50.72\00:51:53.33 their babies out of limbo. 00:51:53.34\00:51:55.58 The church found ways of raising money, 00:51:55.59\00:51:57.83 because all that, 00:51:57.84\00:51:59.14 if you look at 00:51:59.15\00:52:00.18 let's get back to the immortality 00:52:00.19\00:52:02.73 of the soul that you have purgatory, 00:52:02.74\00:52:05.23 you have of limbo. 00:52:05.24\00:52:07.71 What was the next on we just talked about, 00:52:07.72\00:52:09.10 immortality of the soul. 00:52:09.11\00:52:11.18 Indulgences, involving absolution 00:52:11.19\00:52:13.74 or once you add absolved, 00:52:13.75\00:52:15.36 then you pay indulgences to be released 00:52:15.37\00:52:17.89 from that temporary purgatory state and punishment. 00:52:17.90\00:52:22.57 And so the indulgences were to say, 00:52:22.58\00:52:27.59 I'm planning on going to party on Tuesday 00:52:27.60\00:52:31.40 and I want pre-approval that, you know, 00:52:31.41\00:52:34.96 I'll be pardoned from that sin. 00:52:34.97\00:52:36.47 Or impart they can include that, yes. 00:52:36.48\00:52:38.32 They can, so it's really unusual thing, 00:52:38.33\00:52:40.17 but something else that, 00:52:40.18\00:52:41.45 that embraced all that is this eternally burning hell, 00:52:41.46\00:52:46.07 is another the infernal from below, 00:52:46.08\00:52:48.65 is another thing that's the reason 00:52:48.66\00:52:50.44 why people were motivated to pay for people, 00:52:50.45\00:52:52.41 you know, they are afraid. 00:52:52.42\00:52:53.44 Motivated to pay for their infants 00:52:53.45\00:52:55.36 who got it at limbo 00:52:55.37\00:52:57.09 and they were motivated to just do all 00:52:57.10\00:52:59.92 they can to escape eternal torment, 00:52:59.93\00:53:02.86 that's also something embraced by the church 00:53:02.87\00:53:05.66 through the teaching of the immortality of the soul. 00:53:05.67\00:53:08.30 If the soul really never die 00:53:08.31\00:53:09.61 and its wicked where does it go 00:53:09.62\00:53:11.28 to a place to be punished infinitesimally. 00:53:11.29\00:53:15.55 So you can see that there, you know, 00:53:15.56\00:53:18.02 immortality of the soul is a huge issue. Yeah. 00:53:18.03\00:53:20.28 And touches many, many the teachings 00:53:20.29\00:53:22.20 of the Roman Catholic church 00:53:22.21\00:53:23.26 which is one of the reasons 00:53:23.27\00:53:24.24 why it carries on 00:53:24.25\00:53:25.45 and it's passed down to those 00:53:25.46\00:53:26.63 who even separated from her to, till this day. 00:53:26.64\00:53:30.65 Some other ones are the identification of miracles, 00:53:30.66\00:53:34.76 they used those to validate 00:53:34.77\00:53:36.91 or to establish the workings of God. 00:53:36.92\00:53:40.20 And so when it is verified or established 00:53:40.21\00:53:43.76 that miracle is valid then it's God that did it. 00:53:43.77\00:53:47.36 And they alone have the authority to determine that. 00:53:47.37\00:53:50.56 Right now there are lots of relics 00:53:50.57\00:53:52.50 that exist in the Vatican 00:53:52.51\00:53:54.14 that are supposed to be authenticated 00:53:54.15\00:53:56.76 that this was the last piece of bread 00:53:56.77\00:53:59.04 at the last supper, 00:53:59.05\00:54:00.45 this was truly a splinter from the cross, 00:54:00.46\00:54:03.13 this was the piece of the garment cloth 00:54:03.14\00:54:04.87 from Christ burial robe, 00:54:04.88\00:54:07.23 I mean just all these kinds of unusual, 00:54:07.24\00:54:10.25 this is a chalice that was used 00:54:10.26\00:54:12.78 at the final, final supper. 00:54:12.79\00:54:16.23 All those things are, 00:54:16.24\00:54:17.23 as you point the church feels 00:54:17.24\00:54:18.67 that it has the authority to now, 00:54:18.68\00:54:21.00 what's the word? 00:54:21.01\00:54:23.17 Authenticate. Authenticate miracles. 00:54:23.18\00:54:25.92 But the other part of this too John, 00:54:25.93\00:54:27.47 because you, you are almost, 00:54:27.48\00:54:28.86 you were saying it was the issue 00:54:28.87\00:54:32.16 that these things are holy. 00:54:32.17\00:54:34.62 There is the worship of images 00:54:34.63\00:54:37.07 and icons and stuff that is determine 00:54:37.08\00:54:40.58 to have come from the past, 00:54:40.59\00:54:42.73 that they validated 00:54:42.74\00:54:44.67 and authenticated as worthy of worship 00:54:44.68\00:54:47.89 when it's clearly in opposition 00:54:47.90\00:54:49.43 to the Second Commandment. 00:54:49.44\00:54:50.65 And in fact they went as far, 00:54:50.66\00:54:52.13 in their translation of scripture 00:54:52.14\00:54:54.25 to eliminate the Second Commandment. Right. 00:54:54.26\00:54:56.59 The current Bibles have kind of brought 00:54:56.60\00:54:58.43 that back in, it's just almost too obvious. 00:54:58.44\00:55:00.74 But back when there was clearly 00:55:00.75\00:55:02.56 a time where most Bibles, 00:55:02.57\00:55:04.40 Catholic Bibles eliminated 00:55:04.41\00:55:05.43 the Second Commandment all together. 00:55:05.44\00:55:07.15 And it was for the purpose of maintaining 00:55:07.16\00:55:08.62 that whole image worship thing, 00:55:08.63\00:55:10.32 that's why, not that 00:55:10.33\00:55:11.43 I want to be disrespectful to anybody or say 00:55:11.44\00:55:13.65 this out of lack of feeling or respect. 00:55:13.66\00:55:19.29 But that's why it was easy for people to go to, 00:55:19.30\00:55:23.35 you know, you remember that piece of pizza 00:55:23.36\00:55:24.90 where they said, somebody said they saw 00:55:24.91\00:55:26.27 the face of Mary in the piece of pizza. 00:55:26.28\00:55:27.71 Then somebody say, they saw the face of Mary 00:55:27.72\00:55:29.57 on a stand underneath a highway overpass. 00:55:29.58\00:55:33.28 Or somebody else saw, 00:55:33.29\00:55:36.62 I don't want to even go on it just that's 00:55:36.63\00:55:38.57 what makes it easy, when you, 00:55:38.58\00:55:40.08 when you say you could worship images 00:55:40.09\00:55:41.82 that's what makes people think 00:55:41.83\00:55:43.26 that this plastic statue on my dashboard 00:55:43.27\00:55:45.47 is gonna protect me in a next car accident. 00:55:45.48\00:55:47.50 And its tie again the immortally of the soul. 00:55:47.51\00:55:49.74 All these things, 00:55:49.75\00:55:50.72 these things are continuing to live to protect you. 00:55:50.73\00:55:53.41 The other one is infant baptism, 00:55:53.42\00:55:55.46 I think we mention that briefly, 00:55:55.47\00:55:57.03 infants can't be baptize 00:55:57.04\00:55:58.74 any more than a baby can be married. 00:55:58.75\00:56:01.27 But even tie with that just the whole baptism right, 00:56:01.28\00:56:04.02 I mean, is baptism by sprinkling. Right. 00:56:04.03\00:56:06.36 Not by immersion. Right. 00:56:06.37\00:56:08.46 And we're gonna cover very soon 00:56:08.47\00:56:11.12 and probably in our next program 00:56:11.13\00:56:12.71 the Baptist denomination. Right. 00:56:12.72\00:56:14.88 This is one of their main things 00:56:14.89\00:56:16.33 when they came out and protested against Rome, 00:56:16.34\00:56:19.19 they saw that they weren't 00:56:19.20\00:56:20.28 performing baptism correctly. 00:56:20.29\00:56:21.72 The Bible never endorses or even suggest 00:56:21.73\00:56:24.47 that it would by sprinkling. 00:56:24.48\00:56:25.54 It is by immersion, 00:56:25.55\00:56:27.69 baptism too which comes from word baptismo 00:56:27.70\00:56:29.99 to immerse underwater completely. 00:56:30.00\00:56:33.37 That's right, and so you have these things 00:56:33.38\00:56:35.28 that exist today, in the hearts 00:56:35.29\00:56:37.56 and lives of many sincere Christians 00:56:37.57\00:56:40.04 and these are so vitally important 00:56:40.05\00:56:42.32 to their daily function as Catholics that love Jesus. 00:56:42.33\00:56:47.06 Yeah, and many Catholics just like many of these 00:56:47.07\00:56:49.77 other denomination are God's people. 00:56:49.78\00:56:52.69 God's people who is calling out of Babylon, 00:56:52.70\00:56:55.87 out of a false system to worship Him in spirit 00:56:55.88\00:56:58.60 and in truth and we see more 00:56:58.61\00:57:00.06 and more growing until, until the last day, 00:57:00.07\00:57:02.22 until Christ come this swelling loud cry of calling 00:57:02.23\00:57:05.84 them out and they will hear God's voice 00:57:05.85\00:57:08.37 and they'll respond. 00:57:08.38\00:57:09.87 And so friends here at House Calls 00:57:09.88\00:57:10.89 we do believe that, 00:57:10.90\00:57:12.49 understanding what the Bible teach is 00:57:12.50\00:57:14.55 so important to walking with Christ 00:57:14.56\00:57:17.32 and knowing Him as your personal Savior, 00:57:17.33\00:57:19.38 so important to knowing that the truth of God 00:57:19.39\00:57:21.62 does really matter. 00:57:21.63\00:57:22.60 So continue studying God's word, 00:57:22.61\00:57:24.34 until we see you again. 00:57:24.35\00:57:25.78 May the Lord bless you in your walk with Christ. 00:57:25.79\00:57:29.58
