Yeah. 00:00:45.72\00:00:47.26 Often it does on this program, 00:00:47.27\00:00:48.61 it takes same directions 00:00:48.62\00:00:49.59 that we don't often plan for but that is, 00:00:49.60\00:00:52.16 that is the way God works a lot of times. 00:00:52.17\00:00:54.34 And so we are excited that you've decided 00:00:54.35\00:00:56.50 join with us today in that journey. 00:00:56.51\00:00:59.90 Before we dive into anything that we want to make sure 00:00:59.91\00:01:02.74 we go to the Lord and pray and so I want to invite 00:01:02.75\00:01:04.87 our pastor here to share that word with us. 00:01:04.88\00:01:09.84 Gracious Father again, 00:01:09.85\00:01:10.82 we come to you with open hearts and in humility. 00:01:10.83\00:01:14.90 We are thankful for the power of the word, 00:01:14.91\00:01:18.42 we thankful for Jesus our savior and friend. 00:01:18.43\00:01:22.14 We are thankful for this program 00:01:22.15\00:01:24.42 and this opportunity to dig into your word 00:01:24.43\00:01:28.64 and find there the nuggets of Gold, 00:01:28.65\00:01:33.44 the water of life that we need for our growing 00:01:33.45\00:01:36.55 for our nurture and for our spiritual enrichment. 00:01:36.56\00:01:39.89 We pray now Father that you would bless us. 00:01:39.90\00:01:41.75 Give us spiritual eyesight that we may see 00:01:41.76\00:01:45.23 that which you have for us 00:01:45.24\00:01:46.38 that we may interpret to write, that we would make 00:01:46.39\00:01:49.60 correct application to our lives 00:01:49.61\00:01:51.68 and by extension to those who sit and listen and watch 00:01:51.69\00:01:55.43 and hear this particular program. 00:01:55.44\00:01:57.26 Be the center and circumference 00:01:57.27\00:01:58.52 of all that we do this day. 00:01:58.53\00:02:00.09 We surrender ourselves to you 00:02:00.10\00:02:01.56 and ask you to be the divine teacher. 00:02:01.57\00:02:03.76 And we thank you in Jesus name, amen. Amen. 00:02:03.77\00:02:08.73 Well, we're gonna dive into our questions 00:02:08.74\00:02:10.46 here very quickly. 00:02:10.47\00:02:11.46 We appreciate your involvement 00:02:12.00\00:02:13.68 in sending us the questions by email. 00:02:13.69\00:02:15.81 Some of you are still sending snail mail, 00:02:15.82\00:02:17.97 that's fine as well. 00:02:17.98\00:02:19.09 I say snail mail just because 00:02:19.10\00:02:20.43 it takes a little longer for it to get here. 00:02:20.44\00:02:22.77 But we do appreciate in whatever way you respond 00:02:22.78\00:02:25.48 that you do interact with us here at House Calls. 00:02:25.49\00:02:28.08 We really appreciate that. 00:02:28.09\00:02:29.55 We want to give our email address to write to, 00:02:29.56\00:02:32.46 it's housecalls@3abn.org, housecalls@3abn.org. 00:02:32.47\00:02:38.27 To send us your email 00:02:38.28\00:02:39.31 and we will be sure that we do our best. 00:02:39.32\00:02:41.18 We try and cover your question 00:02:41.19\00:02:42.54 on the future program. Thank you. 00:02:42.55\00:02:45.18 Pastor you wanna start this off with a question today? 00:02:45.19\00:02:47.29 All right, we gonna start off with the question 00:02:47.30\00:02:49.85 that comes from time to time in different aspects 00:02:49.86\00:02:53.38 but I think it's something we need to touch on 00:02:53.39\00:02:56.82 and to touch on with love. 00:02:56.83\00:02:59.38 I don't have a name 00:02:59.39\00:03:01.54 for this email that came and says, 00:03:01.55\00:03:04.24 I work for church that says homosexuality is not sinfull 00:03:04.25\00:03:09.86 and has an openly gay music minister. 00:03:09.87\00:03:14.03 The pastor also says 00:03:14.04\00:03:15.05 that God of all religions is the same one. 00:03:15.06\00:03:20.06 I used to think that it was okay. 00:03:20.07\00:03:23.20 I've learned from the Bible and Holy Spirit 00:03:23.21\00:03:25.86 that this is an Apostolic Church. 00:03:25.87\00:03:28.83 What shall I do? I am a recently, 00:03:28.84\00:03:32.34 I am recently single and cannot afford to quit. 00:03:34.35\00:03:38.04 Well, I think in answering this question, 00:03:38.05\00:03:42.54 a number of things come into play 00:03:42.55\00:03:44.70 and we wanna take them sort of sequentially. 00:03:44.71\00:03:48.33 As far as homosexual practice is concerned, 00:03:48.34\00:03:53.39 I think and I think you will agree with me John, 00:03:53.40\00:03:55.24 the Bible is very clear on that. 00:03:55.25\00:03:57.76 We will give you some texts 00:03:57.77\00:03:58.77 and then I wanna go into this, 00:03:58.78\00:04:01.27 I can't afford to quit thing. 00:04:01.28\00:04:02.67 First I go to first Corinthians 00:04:05.18\00:04:06.55 6, 9, and 10, which is a text 00:04:06.56\00:04:08.98 we are looking at just a little bit go. 00:04:08.99\00:04:11.10 There is a list here. 00:04:11.11\00:04:12.55 Here's what the Bible says, 00:04:17.13\00:04:18.10 Paul wrote to the Church of Corinth, 00:04:18.11\00:04:19.89 "Do you not know that the unrighteous 00:04:19.90\00:04:22.04 will not inherit the kingdom of God? 00:04:22.05\00:04:23.97 Do not be deceived." 00:04:23.98\00:04:25.41 So he is setting a very firm premise at the outside 00:04:25.42\00:04:28.89 of this literal preaching portion. 00:04:28.90\00:04:31.99 Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, 00:04:32.00\00:04:34.19 nor adulterers, nor homosexuals, 00:04:34.20\00:04:36.01 nor sodomites, nor thieves, nor the covetous, 00:04:36.02\00:04:38.73 nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, 00:04:38.74\00:04:42.41 will inherit the kingdom of God, 00:04:42.42\00:04:44.63 and such were some of you: but ye are washed, 00:04:44.64\00:04:48.41 but ye are sanctified, but ye are justified 00:04:48.42\00:04:51.01 in the name of the Lord Jesus, 00:04:51.02\00:04:52.91 and by the Spirit of our God." 00:04:52.92\00:04:54.42 And so we find at the very outset 00:04:54.43\00:04:57.78 that people on this list 00:04:57.79\00:04:58.78 cannot inherit the kingdom of God, 00:05:00.78\00:05:02.67 are not in right stand with God. 00:05:02.68\00:05:04.83 So as far as homosexuality is concerned, 00:05:04.84\00:05:08.50 say what you will, Old Testament, 00:05:08.51\00:05:10.20 New Testament agree that this is not a practice 00:05:10.21\00:05:14.17 that has the blessing of God in any way. 00:05:14.18\00:05:18.31 So as far as the church saying 00:05:18.32\00:05:22.11 that it's okay, they are going against 00:05:22.12\00:05:24.38 the clear counsel from the word of God 00:05:24.39\00:05:26.78 because it is not okay. 00:05:26.79\00:05:28.92 Couple of other things, if you will jump with me 00:05:28.93\00:05:31.23 to Romans Chapter 1, 00:05:31.24\00:05:34.66 I think I can pick it up about verse 26, 00:05:34.67\00:05:37.97 "For this reason God gave them up 00:05:42.33\00:05:44.05 to vile passions: for even their women exchanged 00:05:44.06\00:05:47.11 the natural use for what is against nature. 00:05:47.12\00:05:50.33 And likewise also the men, 00:05:50.34\00:05:51.78 leaving the natural use of the woman, 00:05:51.79\00:05:53.34 burned in their lust one toward another; 00:05:53.35\00:05:55.63 men with men committing what is shameful, 00:05:55.64\00:05:58.50 and receiving in themselves 00:05:58.51\00:06:00.19 the penalty for their error which was due." 00:06:00.20\00:06:03.10 So again we see the total picture 00:06:03.11\00:06:07.73 of homosexual acts. 00:06:09.72\00:06:10.79 It is something that is frowned upon 00:06:11.15\00:06:12.80 and not accepted by God. 00:06:12.81\00:06:14.52 It is a Biblical abomination, 00:06:14.53\00:06:17.12 and something that a Christian cannot practice 00:06:17.13\00:06:20.95 with any sort of blessing from heaven. 00:06:20.96\00:06:23.67 So that's the first thing. 00:06:23.68\00:06:26.67 Well, just one really quick thing on that too. 00:06:26.68\00:06:28.36 If you look at verse 20 of that Chapter in Romans, 00:06:28.37\00:06:31.36 Romans 1, it says there, 00:06:31.37\00:06:33.22 For since the creation of the world 00:06:33.23\00:06:34.64 His invisible attributes are clearly seen, 00:06:34.65\00:06:36.69 being understood by the things that are made. 00:06:36.70\00:06:40.31 You know, when you read the creation account, 00:06:40.32\00:06:42.76 it said that He made male for female. Yes. 00:06:42.77\00:06:47.94 And clearly had put those two together 00:06:47.95\00:06:49.88 and the image of God was represented in both. 00:06:49.89\00:06:52.98 The same sex coming together with acts of homosexuality 00:06:54.87\00:06:59.80 do not reproduce or represent 00:06:59.81\00:07:01.72 the image of God. Yes. 00:07:01.73\00:07:03.46 And that is clear as he goes on in these passages 00:07:03.47\00:07:06.29 as He describes how people wandered from that ideal 00:07:06.30\00:07:10.06 homosexuality as mentioned. Yes. 00:07:10.07\00:07:11.69 But it ties to back to the creation account. 00:07:11.70\00:07:14.53 So from the very beginning, 00:07:14.54\00:07:15.77 we see even in the creation of this world 00:07:15.78\00:07:18.02 that it's meant to be. 00:07:18.03\00:07:19.32 Now some would argue, well, there are some things 00:07:19.33\00:07:22.40 that we find where there is some homosexual stuff 00:07:22.41\00:07:25.15 maybe in the animals and so forth. 00:07:25.16\00:07:27.33 That's Evolution. I mean that is an issue. 00:07:27.34\00:07:29.25 That is a model of founding this world 00:07:29.26\00:07:34.05 and this universe that we simply don't agree with. 00:07:34.06\00:07:36.38 The Bible is in contraction with. 00:07:36.39\00:07:38.49 So to argue something that an Evolutionist would argue 00:07:38.50\00:07:41.20 to establish proof that the Bible is wrong 00:07:41.21\00:07:43.98 simply just destroys the Bible anyway. 00:07:43.99\00:07:46.06 So you can't go there and of course, 00:07:46.07\00:07:49.03 you know, the people want to explain in a way, 00:07:49.04\00:07:50.64 well God is not like that. 00:07:50.65\00:07:51.76 He is loving. He is kind. 00:07:51.77\00:07:53.94 He would not destroy someone 00:07:53.95\00:07:55.34 if I was born this way then I am this way. 00:07:55.35\00:08:00.85 But you know, many of us are born 00:08:00.86\00:08:02.89 with challenges in life and we have to 00:08:02.90\00:08:05.75 and it's the nature of sin. 00:08:05.76\00:08:06.94 We have to resist the inclination to sin. 00:08:06.95\00:08:10.50 And so I like what you said a couple of time, 00:08:10.51\00:08:12.26 the practice of homosexuality, 00:08:12.27\00:08:14.20 you know, staying away from vying on the debate 00:08:14.21\00:08:18.03 is to whether one is born homosexual. 00:08:18.04\00:08:21.16 I think it's kind a like a mood point, 00:08:21.17\00:08:24.92 because we are all born with inclinations to sin 00:08:24.93\00:08:27.83 whatever that sin maybe 00:08:27.84\00:08:29.07 that is our challenge in life. Yes. 00:08:29.08\00:08:31.68 And for some that's sin maybe 00:08:31.69\00:08:33.91 what their inclination is to practice homosexuality. 00:08:33.92\00:08:37.23 Still the word of God says, do not practice it. Right. 00:08:37.24\00:08:40.39 And God will deliver us from it. 00:08:40.40\00:08:42.37 Be it nature or nurture, we are not scientist enough, 00:08:42.38\00:08:45.79 medical persons enough to even weigh into that. 00:08:46.83\00:08:49.51 Having said that we are born with any number of, 00:08:49.52\00:08:54.01 any amount of baggage here I say, 00:08:56.67\00:08:58.63 and we are called to overcome in the name 00:08:58.64\00:09:01.91 and the power of Jesus Christ. 00:09:01.92\00:09:03.29 That text in Corinthians gave a fairly long 00:09:03.30\00:09:05.98 and impressive list of sins. 00:09:05.99\00:09:07.72 All of which must be overcome, 00:09:07.73\00:09:10.00 if we ought to be in right standing for the Lord. 00:09:10.01\00:09:12.51 Having said that the idea of shunning, 00:09:12.52\00:09:17.45 hating, treating with contempt irrespective, 00:09:17.46\00:09:21.72 homosexual is also not sanctioned 00:09:21.73\00:09:23.99 by the word of God, 00:09:24.00\00:09:25.43 and so some of the treatment that they get in this word 00:09:25.44\00:09:29.44 really is awful and non-Christian 00:09:29.45\00:09:31.11 and some of it comes from the hand of Christians. 00:09:31.12\00:09:34.12 That of course is not sanctioned by God either 00:09:34.13\00:09:38.11 but to condone the practice 00:09:38.12\00:09:40.03 that is not sanctioned by God. 00:09:40.04\00:09:42.58 Now the last thing I want to touch on, 00:09:42.59\00:09:44.57 he says I become single 00:09:44.58\00:09:47.41 and I can't afford to quit. 00:09:47.42\00:09:49.95 I think that is something you really need 00:09:51.19\00:09:52.54 to take to the Lord in prayer. 00:09:52.55\00:09:54.47 You may find that you can afford with. 00:09:54.48\00:09:57.13 You may have to trust God really a lot. 00:09:57.14\00:10:00.09 You may need to put out some feelers 00:10:00.10\00:10:01.92 to see what other options are open for you, 00:10:01.93\00:10:04.26 and I submit if you really 00:10:04.27\00:10:06.46 want to serve the Lord 00:10:06.47\00:10:12.14 and be free to serve the Lord 00:10:12.15\00:10:14.06 in conscience and mind and practice 00:10:14.07\00:10:15.84 then put it to God. 00:10:15.85\00:10:17.67 Lord, I would like to do something else. 00:10:17.68\00:10:20.18 I would like to work some place else. 00:10:20.19\00:10:22.29 Put it before the Lord, keep it before the Lord 00:10:22.30\00:10:24.84 and then watch the Lord work in your behalf. 00:10:24.85\00:10:27.10 He knows that you are now uncomfortable 00:10:27.11\00:10:29.10 with the situation 00:10:29.11\00:10:30.15 and I think God wants you to be free 00:10:30.16\00:10:32.01 to grow in grace and in His spirit 00:10:32.02\00:10:35.78 and to not have this incompetence. 00:10:35.79\00:10:37.93 So put it before the Lord, 00:10:37.94\00:10:39.83 and talk that the Lord about it. 00:10:39.84\00:10:40.97 Make it a matter of serious prayer, 00:10:40.98\00:10:42.99 and put out the feelers 00:10:43.00\00:10:44.44 and see what God will do for you 00:10:44.45\00:10:46.37 in the course of time. 00:10:46.38\00:10:47.53 We will join you in that praye. Amen, amen. 00:10:47.54\00:10:49.95 You know, I would even add, 00:10:49.96\00:10:50.93 I have a similar queston here 00:10:50.94\00:10:52.16 about a similar issue, not the similar issue 00:10:52.17\00:10:53.87 but the same kind of contradiction. 00:10:53.88\00:10:56.56 And I think anytime that God is convicting you something, 00:10:56.57\00:11:00.40 He is actually paving the way for you 00:11:00.41\00:11:03.48 to put out a fleece before Him. Precisely. 00:11:03.49\00:11:05.34 In other words, if He is convicting you 00:11:05.35\00:11:06.59 that you shouldn't be there anymore, 00:11:06.60\00:11:08.36 He is preparing already an answer. 00:11:08.37\00:11:09.97 He just wants you to move. 00:11:09.98\00:11:11.63 He wants you to step out in faith. 00:11:11.64\00:11:13.64 And that is where the same advice 00:11:13.65\00:11:15.44 comes in for this next question 00:11:15.45\00:11:17.75 which comes from, let's see here, Francis. 00:11:17.76\00:11:22.75 And he says, hi John. 00:11:22.76\00:11:25.10 And John I've always watched 00:11:25.11\00:11:26.34 your program on the TV station. 00:11:26.35\00:11:29.65 I am from Belize, Central America. 00:11:29.66\00:11:32.47 My question is that I would like to 00:11:32.48\00:11:35.08 serve God with all my being. 00:11:35.09\00:11:37.20 However, my job does not permit me 00:11:37.21\00:11:38.91 to get my Sabbaths off. 00:11:38.92\00:11:40.98 What must I do not to feel guilty anymore? 00:11:40.99\00:11:44.78 God's blessing to you both, 00:11:44.79\00:11:46.98 I pray for you both as well. 00:11:46.99\00:11:49.00 You know, I don't know exactly what job you have. 00:11:50.88\00:11:54.61 There are obviously some jobs that, 00:11:54.62\00:11:58.22 you know, without weighing heavily into the debate 00:11:58.23\00:12:00.44 that are absolutely necessary 00:12:00.45\00:12:01.89 such as a job of a doctor. 00:12:01.90\00:12:03.65 You can't respond to a patient 00:12:03.66\00:12:06.07 that needs emergency medical care 00:12:06.08\00:12:08.34 by saying I'm sorry it's my day off. 00:12:08.35\00:12:10.39 I can't be involved in the work of healing you. 00:12:10.40\00:12:13.01 So there are those doctors, nurses 00:12:13.02\00:12:15.27 providing for the care of individuals, 00:12:15.28\00:12:17.56 some even involved in the emergency, 00:12:17.57\00:12:20.15 a protection of the community. 00:12:20.16\00:12:22.32 Fire fighters, they can't, you know, say I'm sorry 00:12:22.33\00:12:24.56 I won't put out your fire because it's the Sabbath. 00:12:24.57\00:12:27.57 So there are things that are, 00:12:27.58\00:12:29.35 that I believe God allows provides allowance for us 00:12:29.36\00:12:32.81 to be able to continue to provide the service 00:12:32.82\00:12:34.83 or help for people, 00:12:34.84\00:12:35.81 but it probably is not the case here I am guessing. 00:12:35.82\00:12:39.30 But many do struggle in the same way, 00:12:39.31\00:12:41.99 you know, my job doesn't allow me 00:12:42.00\00:12:42.99 to have all my Sabbaths off. 00:12:43.00\00:12:45.93 I really feel convicted or little guilty about that, 00:12:45.94\00:12:48.35 what I can do to stop the guilt. 00:12:48.36\00:12:50.10 I would say the only thing to do to stop the guilt 00:12:50.11\00:12:51.84 is follow the word of God. Follow the Lord, yeah 00:12:51.85\00:12:53.64 And it says there that clue the Fourth Commandment, 00:12:53.65\00:12:57.38 "you shall do no work on that day." 00:12:57.39\00:12:59.83 And so you need to pretty much just kind of 00:12:59.84\00:13:03.21 put your foot down and say to your employer, 00:13:03.22\00:13:05.79 I'm sorry I can no longer work 00:13:05.80\00:13:07.35 on any Sabbaths because of the fact that it is my, 00:13:07.36\00:13:11.73 it's God holy Sabbath day 00:13:11.74\00:13:13.33 and I wanna honor Him first and foremost. 00:13:13.34\00:13:16.01 And then the Lord will move. 00:13:16.02\00:13:18.18 I often find the Lord will not move 00:13:18.19\00:13:21.94 until, we move first to respond Him. Yeah. 00:13:21.95\00:13:24.88 So you, you know, to say 00:13:24.89\00:13:26.59 well I have to get another job 00:13:26.60\00:13:27.75 before I lose this job, 00:13:27.76\00:13:29.67 let me tell you it almost never works like that. 00:13:29.68\00:13:32.89 The Lord opens the door for work 00:13:32.90\00:13:34.81 after we first honor and commit to Him. 00:13:34.82\00:13:36.80 Yes, because there is no faith element in that. 00:13:36.81\00:13:39.54 If you leap and you know you have some place to land 00:13:39.55\00:13:43.02 then the leap has not really a leap of faith. 00:13:43.03\00:13:45.57 It's just a jump. 00:13:45.58\00:13:46.72 You gonna jump, you gonna land. 00:13:46.73\00:13:48.40 But if leave not knowing or you're gonna land 00:13:48.41\00:13:51.31 and trust God to land you safely. 00:13:51.32\00:13:53.89 That is a leap of faith. 00:13:53.90\00:13:56.02 And that could be 00:13:56.03\00:13:58.39 what the Lord is waiting for you to do. 00:13:58.40\00:14:00.95 We've seen it happen so many, many, many times. 00:14:00.96\00:14:05.14 When I was in Public Affairs in Religious 00:14:05.15\00:14:06.90 Liberty Director for the Conference, 00:14:06.91\00:14:08.91 we had a fellow who was a carpenter, 00:14:08.92\00:14:10.57 never worked on Sabbath. 00:14:10.58\00:14:12.94 And the Transit Authority, he works in New York 00:14:12.95\00:14:15.23 Transit called him in and he wouldn't go. 00:14:15.24\00:14:18.69 And well, he said I'm gonna just have to quit 00:14:18.70\00:14:24.66 if you gonna insist. 00:14:24.67\00:14:25.64 And they insisted and he quit. 00:14:25.65\00:14:27.14 And he was out of work for two weeks. 00:14:27.15\00:14:29.47 And then he got a better job 00:14:29.48\00:14:31.49 but he was out of work for two weeks. 00:14:32.99\00:14:34.23 His faith was tested. 00:14:34.24\00:14:35.21 He didn't go from one to another. 00:14:35.22\00:14:37.63 And so many times God is asking us 00:14:37.64\00:14:39.71 to exercise our faith to trust Him, 00:14:39.72\00:14:41.87 to try Him, to test Him, to prove Him he says. 00:14:41.88\00:14:46.10 And when we do that 00:14:46.11\00:14:47.08 we find that God is faithful. 00:14:47.09\00:14:48.77 Yes, He is always faithful. Yeah. Okay. 00:14:48.78\00:14:51.48 Now the question you have here. 00:14:51.49\00:14:52.62 I've got one from Australia, 00:14:52.63\00:14:55.81 from New South Wales from Wayne. 00:14:55.82\00:14:58.88 Wayne wants to know, how is it that Jesus being God, 00:14:58.89\00:15:01.99 was born through Mary by the Holy Spirit 00:15:04.17\00:15:07.10 and not affected by sin through the birth of Mary, 00:15:07.11\00:15:11.32 as Mary is a sinner just like us? 00:15:11.33\00:15:13.95 Well, this is called the incarnation. 00:15:15.81\00:15:20.35 The Bible says the word which is Christ 00:15:20.36\00:15:23.19 became flesh and dwelt among us. 00:15:23.20\00:15:25.32 And God doesn't spend a lot of time 00:15:25.33\00:15:27.00 really explaining how that happened. 00:15:27.01\00:15:29.39 And I think even if He did 00:15:29.40\00:15:31.01 we probably couldn't understand it 00:15:31.02\00:15:32.36 and how does divinity become humanity. 00:15:32.37\00:15:35.67 How does God take Himself 00:15:35.68\00:15:39.31 and form Himself into a little baby 00:15:39.32\00:15:41.47 and insert Himself into the womb of woman, 00:15:41.48\00:15:44.15 and then come through the natural birth process, 00:15:44.16\00:15:46.74 and allow that to happen. 00:15:46.75\00:15:48.35 Perhaps through the ages we were studying that, 00:15:50.10\00:15:52.74 the depth of the incarnation. 00:15:52.75\00:15:54.55 So if I to say and praise God, 00:15:54.56\00:15:56.63 it did happen. 00:15:56.64\00:15:57.61 Now was He affected? Yes. 00:15:57.62\00:16:01.40 He was affected. 00:16:01.41\00:16:03.27 He got hungry. 00:16:03.28\00:16:04.94 He got tired. 00:16:04.95\00:16:06.64 He needed rest. 00:16:06.65\00:16:07.62 All of those things are very human qualities, 00:16:07.63\00:16:09.94 John, as you well know. 00:16:09.95\00:16:11.54 So He was affected by sin 00:16:11.55\00:16:16.88 as the word is affected by sin 00:16:16.89\00:16:18.75 but not infected by sin. Absolutely. 00:16:18.76\00:16:22.43 Christ made the statement, the text in case perhaps 00:16:22.44\00:16:25.07 you can help me with this, 00:16:25.08\00:16:26.05 He says the God of this word has nothing in me. 00:16:26.06\00:16:29.31 There is no hook in me. 00:16:29.32\00:16:30.57 There is nothing for Satan to reach and sort of latch 00:16:30.58\00:16:32.51 unto because I am not allowing that. 00:16:32.52\00:16:34.44 The propensity. Precisely. 00:16:34.45\00:16:36.00 What sin was in bear? 00:16:36.01\00:16:36.98 When we talk about the incarnation 00:16:36.99\00:16:39.74 with the God man, there are two words 00:16:39.75\00:16:41.55 that tend to come to mind, 00:16:41.56\00:16:42.53 infirmities and propensities. 00:16:42.54\00:16:44.39 He had the infirmities. 00:16:44.40\00:16:45.59 He got tired, He got weak, He needed food, 00:16:45.60\00:16:49.36 those are very human things, 00:16:49.37\00:16:50.88 but He didn't have the propensities. 00:16:50.89\00:16:53.43 He didn't have the bent toward sin that we have. 00:16:53.44\00:16:56.33 He didn't have that natural leaning towards sin. 00:16:56.34\00:16:59.10 And of course that was kept up 00:16:59.11\00:17:00.95 by a constant relationship with His Father, 00:17:00.96\00:17:05.13 by dependence upon his Father. 00:17:05.14\00:17:06.78 He overcame the same way we can overcome 00:17:06.79\00:17:10.09 and that is through 00:17:10.10\00:17:11.07 a constant connection with Jesus Christ. 00:17:11.08\00:17:13.72 So He was affected by but not infected by 00:17:13.73\00:17:17.78 and praise God, He lived a sinless life, 00:17:17.79\00:17:20.25 and these are example and died for us. 00:17:20.26\00:17:23.08 And now ministers the benefit of that death 00:17:23.09\00:17:26.37 and that life in heaven for us even as we speak. 00:17:26.38\00:17:28.90 You know, and it is a very different. 00:17:28.91\00:17:30.59 It's just beyond our grasp, some of these things, 00:17:30.60\00:17:33.38 just like the God had the three in one. 00:17:33.39\00:17:36.14 It's just as tough for us to really understand. 00:17:36.15\00:17:38.57 One of the things I know one person mentioned to me 00:17:38.58\00:17:42.91 one time talked about, 00:17:42.92\00:17:43.97 you know, the nature of Christ. 00:17:43.98\00:17:45.57 And he said, you know, 00:17:45.58\00:17:46.55 He came likeness of sinful flesh 00:17:46.56\00:17:48.77 but likeness doesn't mean sameness. 00:17:48.78\00:17:50.92 He wasn't exactly like us, 00:17:50.93\00:17:53.26 because we are born with a propensity to sin. Yes. 00:17:53.27\00:17:56.25 We are bent toward that. 00:17:56.26\00:17:58.11 He was not, He did not have that, 00:17:58.12\00:17:59.46 yet He was affected by sin. 00:17:59.47\00:18:01.51 It impacted His life. Very much so. 00:18:01.52\00:18:03.07 And there is no one ever been exactly like that. 00:18:03.08\00:18:06.58 But yet, He came in the lightness of us, 00:18:06.59\00:18:09.04 to show us that we can conquer 00:18:09.05\00:18:11.50 as He conquered through His father. 00:18:11.51\00:18:13.63 Yeah, that comes to mind John. 00:18:13.64\00:18:15.22 People say, well okay, He didn't have 00:18:15.23\00:18:16.76 the natural tendency that we have, 00:18:16.77\00:18:19.31 so He had to vanish. 00:18:19.32\00:18:20.30 But here is a question I asked myself 00:18:20.31\00:18:21.91 and I ask myself every time we have our grandkids over. 00:18:21.92\00:18:25.10 Is it easier to get clean 00:18:25.11\00:18:27.71 or having been clean to stay clean? 00:18:27.72\00:18:31.10 Now we can dress our grandchildren up 00:18:31.11\00:18:35.20 to take them to church. 00:18:35.21\00:18:36.75 And if we don't watch them by the time 00:18:36.76\00:18:38.98 we are ready to go, they are filthy. 00:18:38.99\00:18:41.72 Because they're gonna find something, 00:18:41.73\00:18:43.51 they're gonna grab something 00:18:43.52\00:18:44.53 and the other day it was, we were making smoothies. 00:18:44.54\00:18:47.73 And one of the little ones got into the blueberries. 00:18:47.74\00:18:50.10 And of course the blueberries are all over. 00:18:50.11\00:18:51.54 He started out clean but he didn't stay clean very long. 00:18:51.55\00:18:54.51 So, Christ started out clean, 00:18:54.52\00:18:57.26 but then it was His job to stay clean, 00:18:57.27\00:18:59.71 you know, with the temptations 00:18:59.72\00:19:02.14 and of course He had 00:19:02.15\00:19:03.12 the attention of Satan Himself. 00:19:03.13\00:19:05.76 So He had to stay clean 00:19:05.77\00:19:08.69 and to resist those kinds of temptations 00:19:08.70\00:19:11.45 and Satan took him on his pet project. 00:19:11.46\00:19:14.17 So is it easier to get clean or to stay clean? 00:19:14.18\00:19:18.32 Well, six of one half a dozen of the other. 00:19:18.33\00:19:20.39 He started out clean 00:19:20.40\00:19:21.55 but it was His job to stay clean 00:19:21.56\00:19:22.99 and not to sin in thought, word, or deed. 00:19:23.00\00:19:26.06 And He was faithful unto death, 00:19:26.07\00:19:27.67 even the death at the cross. 00:19:27.68\00:19:29.19 So in that He can indeed be our example. 00:19:29.20\00:19:31.80 You know, the other thing too is that He, 00:19:31.81\00:19:34.17 well, you know, He is, while He came 00:19:34.18\00:19:37.26 and He did not conquered 00:19:37.27\00:19:38.34 using His divinity, His deity. 00:19:38.35\00:19:41.60 Yes, He is all God but He is all man. 00:19:41.61\00:19:44.20 And He conquered where man stands. 00:19:44.21\00:19:46.35 He conquered him in the power and strength 00:19:46.36\00:19:47.99 that we have as we depend upon on the Holy Spirit 00:19:48.00\00:19:52.14 in our Father to provide the strength that we need. 00:19:52.15\00:19:54.22 So that's what He stood so that He can 00:19:54.23\00:19:56.08 then give us that victory. Precisely. 00:19:56.09\00:19:57.69 He conquered as God. 00:19:57.70\00:19:59.90 He couldn't give us that victory. 00:19:59.91\00:20:01.11 Not my example. He is not our example. 00:20:01.12\00:20:03.10 We're not God. Yeah. 00:20:03.11\00:20:04.69 And so you know, word is harder. 00:20:04.70\00:20:08.61 You know, that's the same question, 00:20:08.62\00:20:10.44 to be on a Cross and have the power, 00:20:10.45\00:20:13.54 to end it right there, or to be on the cross 00:20:13.55\00:20:16.84 with no possibility of getting off 00:20:16.85\00:20:18.50 which is what we would be in and then just having 00:20:18.51\00:20:20.73 to stay there and experience it. 00:20:20.74\00:20:21.81 I would say it would require more to stay there, 00:20:21.82\00:20:25.75 not using power, 00:20:25.76\00:20:26.74 you had at your resource, at your availability. 00:20:26.75\00:20:29.85 Then it is to just a human being 00:20:29.86\00:20:32.29 not have the power. Yeah, yeah. 00:20:32.30\00:20:33.97 He could have come down. He could end this. 00:20:33.98\00:20:35.88 Why direct, to go through this, 00:20:35.89\00:20:37.25 just end it. That's right. 00:20:37.26\00:20:38.73 But, and you've got it's like 00:20:38.74\00:20:39.87 you have money in the bank 00:20:39.88\00:20:40.85 and you are living in the backseat of your car. 00:20:40.86\00:20:43.05 I could live in a mansion if I want, 00:20:43.06\00:20:45.10 but I'm not gonna do that. 00:20:45.11\00:20:46.08 Well, He had the power but He did not use that power 00:20:46.09\00:20:50.10 and in that He becomes my example 00:20:50.11\00:20:51.67 because he has to overcome just like I owe Him. 00:20:51.68\00:20:53.68 And in that respect I would say 00:20:53.69\00:20:55.05 He didn't have an advantage. Precisely. 00:20:55.06\00:20:56.84 'Cause, you know, it took more to resist but... 00:20:56.85\00:20:59.58 Yeah, we have to resist. 00:20:59.59\00:21:00.73 Amen. All right. 00:21:00.74\00:21:02.86 We have one last question here 00:21:02.87\00:21:04.25 I will just mention briefly, 00:21:04.26\00:21:06.32 'cause it really doesn't have a specific answer. 00:21:06.33\00:21:08.49 It says in Mark 14:21 with regard to Judas 00:21:08.50\00:21:13.71 that it would have been good 00:21:15.74\00:21:16.93 for that man to never have been born. 00:21:16.94\00:21:18.76 My question is if there were no Judas then how would 00:21:18.77\00:21:21.51 the crucifixion resurrection of Jesus 00:21:21.52\00:21:23.11 had been fulfilled? Okay. 00:21:23.12\00:21:26.08 So let me read Mark 14:21, 00:21:26.09\00:21:28.19 "The Son of Man indeed goes 00:21:28.20\00:21:29.46 just as it is written of Him, 00:21:29.47\00:21:31.60 but woe to that man by whom the Son of Man is betrayed! 00:21:31.61\00:21:35.11 It would have been good for that man 00:21:35.12\00:21:36.37 if he had never been born." 00:21:36.38\00:21:39.05 You know I've heard this question 00:21:39.06\00:21:40.28 many times before and framed in different ways. 00:21:40.29\00:21:43.63 Here is another one and maybe I am pouring fuel 00:21:43.64\00:21:46.40 on the fire or something, but another one would be, 00:21:46.41\00:21:48.73 you know, what if, 00:21:48.74\00:21:50.51 what if the Jews had accepted their Messiah? 00:21:50.52\00:21:53.58 You know, and He... and did not crucify Him? 00:21:55.36\00:21:57.52 How were they been different from mankind? 00:21:57.53\00:22:00.06 You know, there is all these different "what ifs", 00:22:00.07\00:22:03.54 but it didn't happen that way. 00:22:03.55\00:22:05.86 You know, I would say the answer to that "what if" 00:22:05.87\00:22:07.23 would be there would have been no church 00:22:07.24\00:22:08.39 because the Jews and Israel 00:22:08.40\00:22:09.96 would have been the church, right? 00:22:09.97\00:22:11.99 But the issue is with regard to Jesus and His crucifixion 00:22:12.00\00:22:15.83 and I will throw a scenario out. 00:22:15.84\00:22:16.92 Let's say the Jews had accepted their Messiah. 00:22:16.93\00:22:22.06 I would say it's very possible 00:22:22.07\00:22:23.48 that maybe Rome would step forward to see Him 00:22:23.49\00:22:25.27 as the opposition and would have crucified Him anyway. 00:22:25.28\00:22:27.85 You know, someone would have step forward 00:22:27.86\00:22:29.44 and provided the impetus 00:22:29.45\00:22:30.85 for the crucifixion of Christ, 00:22:30.86\00:22:32.67 for the death of the Messiah 00:22:32.68\00:22:33.72 because that's what was required, 00:22:33.73\00:22:35.44 that's what the Bible had foretold. 00:22:35.45\00:22:37.57 And so it's hard to cometh throw 00:22:37.58\00:22:40.11 around these "what ifs" 00:22:40.12\00:22:41.21 and to really know the answer 'cause we don't, 00:22:41.22\00:22:43.10 we cannot possibly know. 00:22:43.11\00:22:45.10 But God always does have that full knowledge. 00:22:45.11\00:22:49.16 And there would have been a way regardless, 00:22:49.17\00:22:51.18 there have been no Judas 00:22:51.19\00:22:52.42 it would have been something else. Yeah. 00:22:52.43\00:22:54.27 And that's why we can't, you know, people say, 00:22:54.28\00:22:56.21 well, you know it's unfair to choose Judas. 00:22:56.22\00:22:58.63 Well, Judas could have been forgiven. 00:22:58.64\00:23:00.86 Judas thought he made a pretty slick bargain, 00:23:00.87\00:23:04.11 pick up some cash and identify Christ. 00:23:04.12\00:23:06.93 That's basically what it's in his mind. 00:23:06.94\00:23:08.98 I will point him out I'm going to get pay. 00:23:08.99\00:23:12.22 Is that worse than Peter is denying him? 00:23:12.23\00:23:15.17 You know, that's pretty bad. 00:23:16.59\00:23:18.12 Peter said, I don't know the man. 00:23:18.13\00:23:19.65 I have nothing to do with him. 00:23:19.66\00:23:20.63 I don't know who you talking about, 00:23:20.64\00:23:21.67 and cursed to sort of back it up. 00:23:21.68\00:23:24.44 Is that worse than Judas pointing him out 00:23:24.45\00:23:27.30 to some soldiers? who did known 00:23:27.31\00:23:29.00 Well, you can banter it about either way. 00:23:29.01\00:23:32.41 The fact is both could have been forgiven. 00:23:32.42\00:23:35.62 Peter was, Judas choose to end his life in despair. 00:23:35.63\00:23:41.32 But he could have been forgiven. 00:23:41.33\00:23:42.90 Someone would have betrayed him. 00:23:42.91\00:23:44.42 Was it Judas? Yeah, 00:23:44.43\00:23:45.51 but Judas could have been forgiven for that act 00:23:45.52\00:23:47.39 just as Peter was forgiven for his act. 00:23:47.40\00:23:51.72 And I think we need to look at that on our own lives. 00:23:51.73\00:23:54.50 We are never beyond the hope, 00:23:54.51\00:23:56.94 the help of Christ. 00:23:56.95\00:23:58.48 You may do some things that in your mind pretty bad 00:23:58.49\00:24:01.53 but just as Peter denied Him and was forgiven, 00:24:01.54\00:24:05.17 so you too can be forgiven. 00:24:05.18\00:24:07.75 Judas turned his mind inside out, 00:24:07.76\00:24:09.80 there is no hope for me. I am sad. 00:24:09.81\00:24:11.70 I will just end it all. 00:24:11.71\00:24:13.22 Peter looked to Jesus 00:24:13.23\00:24:15.53 and remembered the words of Jesus 00:24:15.54\00:24:17.92 and used that as motivation 00:24:17.93\00:24:19.87 to get back into right standing with God. 00:24:19.88\00:24:22.13 Never think you are beyond Christ. 00:24:22.14\00:24:23.78 Christ has seen it all. He has heard it all. 00:24:23.79\00:24:26.31 There is nothing you can do that surprises Him. 00:24:26.32\00:24:29.19 You can't go too far 00:24:29.20\00:24:30.47 if you have enough sense to call, 00:24:30.48\00:24:32.67 He has got enough love to answer. 00:24:32.68\00:24:34.46 You know, I would also say that 00:24:34.47\00:24:36.40 God can handle your sin. Precisely, yes. 00:24:36.41\00:24:38.84 He has already got an answer for sin. 00:24:38.85\00:24:43.67 But He doesn't have an answer 00:24:43.68\00:24:45.26 for rejection of Him or walking away of Him 00:24:45.27\00:24:47.63 because of our own free will. 00:24:47.64\00:24:48.89 He has given us that free will 00:24:48.90\00:24:50.73 to be able to step away 00:24:50.74\00:24:51.87 and reject Christ as Judas did 00:24:51.88\00:24:54.77 and do not accept that forgiveness, 00:24:54.78\00:24:56.54 or the change of heart even that comes with that. 00:24:56.55\00:24:59.13 So the tragedy there is always in us, 00:24:59.14\00:25:02.77 in the man that commits that sin. Yeah. 00:25:02.78\00:25:05.55 The tragedy for Christ is definitely there 00:25:05.56\00:25:08.56 but not the sin itself. He can handle the sin. 00:25:08.57\00:25:10.55 Yeah, yeah. 00:25:10.56\00:25:11.53 Christ in his dealing with Judas 00:25:11.54\00:25:12.68 never gave indication 00:25:12.69\00:25:14.25 and He knew what he was doing, 00:25:14.26\00:25:15.37 what Judas would do. 00:25:15.38\00:25:16.55 You know, He knew what's coming 00:25:16.56\00:25:17.94 but He never said listen by the way when you do this, 00:25:17.95\00:25:19.86 don't ever come back. 00:25:19.87\00:25:20.84 He didn't say that time, you know... 00:25:20.85\00:25:22.13 Maybe wash His feet. Precisely. 00:25:22.14\00:25:24.52 Trying to let him know. 00:25:24.53\00:25:25.99 I know what's going on, 00:25:26.00\00:25:27.20 I know what's going to go down, 00:25:27.21\00:25:28.48 I love you still. 00:25:28.49\00:25:29.66 And that's the message that He has for us today. 00:25:29.67\00:25:31.54 He knows. There is no secret. 00:25:31.55\00:25:33.25 Nothing hidden from God, but His love is still there 00:25:33.26\00:25:35.44 and His love is overriding 00:25:35.45\00:25:36.71 and all encompassing and eternal. 00:25:36.72\00:25:38.95 So fall on that love 00:25:38.96\00:25:40.56 and take that love to yourself 00:25:40.57\00:25:41.80 and know that Christ doesn't reject you, 00:25:41.81\00:25:43.44 so don't reject Him. Amen. 00:25:43.45\00:25:45.63 What a positive note. 00:25:45.64\00:25:46.61 Can I transition on? Yeah. 00:25:46.62\00:25:47.72 The love of Christ for us 00:25:47.73\00:25:49.88 in the way that He deals patiently, 00:25:49.89\00:25:52.57 and you know with us and our problems. 00:25:52.58\00:25:57.48 Let me go ahead and introduce to you 00:25:57.49\00:25:59.66 in our topic to kind a segway. 00:25:59.67\00:26:02.35 Actually before I do that 00:26:02.36\00:26:03.33 let's put up the House calls 00:26:03.34\00:26:05.31 email address one more time. 00:26:05.32\00:26:07.00 You can send your questions into housecalls@3abn.org 00:26:07.01\00:26:10.83 or you can email or actually send them regular mail 00:26:10.84\00:26:13.66 through card or letters or something. 00:26:13.67\00:26:15.75 We will make sure we do our best to put them up 00:26:15.76\00:26:17.59 and answer them on our future programs. 00:26:19.43\00:26:21.71 So thank you very much 00:26:21.72\00:26:22.69 for participating in that part. 00:26:22.70\00:26:24.18 Now for the introduction. Amen. 00:26:24.19\00:26:26.00 You know, we started last time with part 1, 00:26:26.01\00:26:30.51 start talking about you know prophecy 00:26:30.52\00:26:32.74 and the biblical rules 00:26:32.75\00:26:33.72 and methodology of interpretation. 00:26:33.73\00:26:36.09 Because it's very important to understand that 00:26:36.10\00:26:37.81 and we gave several reason why it is important. 00:26:37.82\00:26:41.10 But we ended getting into a discussion 00:26:41.11\00:26:42.74 on the different methodologies 00:26:42.75\00:26:45.68 or actually the different types of interpretation, 00:26:45.69\00:26:48.52 the methods and that have grown overtime. 00:26:48.53\00:26:51.06 First of all, Historicism 00:26:51.07\00:26:52.62 which came really out of the Protestant Reformation 00:26:52.63\00:26:55.49 that was the model they used and stuck to. 00:26:55.50\00:26:58.07 Then there was the Counter Reformation 00:26:58.08\00:26:59.41 in response to that. 00:26:59.42\00:27:00.39 When we see the enemy responded to 00:27:00.40\00:27:01.98 the truths of God's word getting out with error 00:27:01.99\00:27:05.27 that he tried to disperse 00:27:05.28\00:27:06.65 and through the Church of Rome. 00:27:06.66\00:27:08.74 And we find that two methods then that Rome introduced 00:27:08.75\00:27:12.12 as theories were Preterism and Futurism. 00:27:12.13\00:27:15.44 Preterism being predominantly 00:27:15.45\00:27:16.97 that all the prophecies in the book of Revelation 00:27:16.98\00:27:19.29 have already happened 00:27:19.30\00:27:20.36 and they centered around the time of A.D. 70, 00:27:20.37\00:27:24.54 where Titus and his army 00:27:24.55\00:27:26.71 besieged and sacked Jerusalem 00:27:26.72\00:27:28.56 and destroyed the temple as well 00:27:28.57\00:27:30.50 and of course then the persecution 00:27:30.51\00:27:32.10 by its emperors in the future after that. 00:27:32.11\00:27:35.75 Futurism says that all the prophecies 00:27:35.76\00:27:37.87 that are spoken of in Revelation particularly 00:27:37.88\00:27:41.38 after Revelation Chapter 4 are in the future. 00:27:41.39\00:27:44.76 They are way down at the end of time. 00:27:44.77\00:27:46.62 You don't have to deal with this 00:27:46.63\00:27:47.92 and one of the main doctrines associated 00:27:47.93\00:27:49.88 with that understand is the rapture theory, 00:27:49.89\00:27:53.03 which is that the church 00:27:53.04\00:27:54.05 will be rapture out of this earth 00:27:54.06\00:27:55.94 and not have to be here on the earth 00:27:55.95\00:27:57.76 during the time of trouble, 00:27:57.77\00:27:59.16 during the persecution that is described 00:27:59.17\00:28:01.62 in the book of Revelation 00:28:01.63\00:28:02.62 from that Chapter 1, Chapter 4. Yes. 00:28:02.63\00:28:05.25 And that's the essence of Futurism. 00:28:05.26\00:28:08.30 And Futurism of the two, Futurism is the one 00:28:08.31\00:28:10.75 that God basically gained the most deem 00:28:10.76\00:28:13.69 that caught with Christianity 00:28:13.70\00:28:17.83 and many denominations today and it is being taught 00:28:17.84\00:28:20.01 as the most prevalent 00:28:20.02\00:28:20.99 methodology for interpreting prophecy. 00:28:21.00\00:28:24.74 But in doing so, we, I think ended our program by saying 00:28:24.75\00:28:28.73 that is deviating really pastors from the reformers 00:28:28.74\00:28:33.49 and what they viewed as the essential 00:28:33.50\00:28:37.65 for understanding prophecy in its proper context. 00:28:37.66\00:28:41.01 And one of those contexts they say that 00:28:41.02\00:28:43.15 they went to were the writings of Daniel. 00:28:43.16\00:28:45.61 Daniel in Revelation are bookends, to prophecy. 00:28:45.62\00:28:49.10 Daniel reveals things that will come to pass 00:28:49.11\00:28:52.56 in the latter days but then seals up the book. 00:28:52.57\00:28:55.35 It's not understandable. 00:28:55.36\00:28:56.65 Knowledge of these things will not be available 00:28:56.66\00:28:59.46 until the time of the end itself. 00:28:59.47\00:29:02.10 Of course, that period lasts 2300 days, Daniel 8:14 00:29:02.11\00:29:06.24 and then of course Revelation, 00:29:06.25\00:29:07.43 we read Revelation 10 where it say that the delay 00:29:07.44\00:29:11.64 or the time prophecy is being sealed up, 00:29:11.65\00:29:14.51 no longer exists that 00:29:14.52\00:29:15.75 now we can understand those things 00:29:15.76\00:29:17.75 and the time of the end is at hand, 00:29:17.76\00:29:20.03 which I believe we are living in today. 00:29:20.04\00:29:22.18 Yeah, and that's what history says, 00:29:22.19\00:29:24.38 the history says prospective does. 00:29:24.39\00:29:26.21 It walks us through from the ancient times 00:29:26.22\00:29:31.05 and brings us right up to our day. 00:29:31.06\00:29:34.37 And we see that played out 00:29:34.38\00:29:36.11 particularly in the book of Daniel. 00:29:36.12\00:29:39.22 Yeah, and Daniel being a latter day, 00:29:39.23\00:29:42.04 these latter day prophecies for kind of supporting 00:29:42.05\00:29:46.47 in the foundational aspect of Historicism, 00:29:46.48\00:29:48.89 let's go there 00:29:48.90\00:29:50.31 and I would like to look at what the reformers looked at 00:29:50.32\00:29:53.33 and what we are still today 00:29:53.34\00:29:54.86 in the Seventh-day Adventist church 00:29:54.87\00:29:56.09 who are continue to be viewed 00:29:56.10\00:29:59.31 as the champions of Historicism. Yes. 00:29:59.32\00:30:01.51 We are Historicists to the core 00:30:02.80\00:30:04.46 but let's look as to why 00:30:04.47\00:30:07.48 and for that we must go to the Bible. 00:30:07.49\00:30:09.40 Remember the Bible and the Bible alone. 00:30:09.41\00:30:11.07 That's what the principle of the Protestant Reformers 00:30:11.08\00:30:14.13 that was their principle that was their foundation. 00:30:15.68\00:30:18.05 And so let's take a look at Daniel. 00:30:18.06\00:30:20.13 Let's just talk about Daniel Chapter 2 00:30:20.14\00:30:22.74 here at the beginning because 00:30:22.75\00:30:23.72 this is probably the most clear explanation 00:30:23.73\00:30:26.03 of why the reformers adopted the historicists model. 00:30:26.04\00:30:31.33 Daniel chapter 2, just a kind of give you 00:30:31.34\00:30:34.12 a little bit of a flavor for what's happening here. 00:30:34.13\00:30:38.82 Daniel and his three friends and more than that, 00:30:38.83\00:30:42.34 Judah had been taking captive by Nebuchadnezzar 00:30:44.30\00:30:48.68 and his kingdom of Babylon. 00:30:48.69\00:30:50.92 And they had brought them from Jerusalem 00:30:50.93\00:30:53.94 in the captivity in Babylon and began to rule over them 00:30:53.95\00:30:56.97 and began to what you say, 00:30:56.98\00:31:01.39 especially with Daniel and his three friends 00:31:01.40\00:31:03.04 trained them up in the ways of Babylon. 00:31:03.05\00:31:06.24 Well, Daniel and his three friends 00:31:06.25\00:31:07.82 began to resist a bit 00:31:07.83\00:31:09.31 and they were some issues 00:31:09.32\00:31:10.57 that are talked about in Daniel 1, 00:31:10.58\00:31:12.14 specifically in the area of diet 00:31:12.15\00:31:14.13 and so of course, this program isn't on that 00:31:14.14\00:31:16.86 but there is definitely a difference so to speak 00:31:16.87\00:31:19.75 between the wise man of Babylon 00:31:19.76\00:31:21.65 and Daniel and his three friends 00:31:21.66\00:31:24.11 who had been taken captive and then brought to Babylon. 00:31:24.12\00:31:28.21 We get to Chapter 2 where Nebuchadnezzar 00:31:28.22\00:31:30.55 the whole scene shifts 00:31:30.56\00:31:31.59 to Nebuchadnezzar and his dream. 00:31:31.60\00:31:34.26 He has a dream 00:31:34.27\00:31:35.92 and in that dream something profound happens. 00:31:35.93\00:31:39.99 I mean, may be you've experienced 00:31:40.00\00:31:41.36 this before pastor as well. 00:31:41.37\00:31:43.23 You have a dream, you know it's big 00:31:43.24\00:31:44.91 but you can't quite remember 00:31:44.92\00:31:45.97 everything that requires. Oh, yes. 00:31:45.98\00:31:47.80 Well, it was even worse for him. 00:31:47.81\00:31:49.55 It was so profound, but yet he couldn't 00:31:49.56\00:31:51.44 even understand the elementary pieces of it. 00:31:51.45\00:31:53.58 Just even begin to put the picture together. 00:31:53.59\00:31:56.71 And he was so concerned about it, 00:31:56.72\00:31:58.13 he could hardly even sleep 00:31:58.14\00:31:59.59 and he put out the word that all of the wise men, 00:31:59.60\00:32:03.04 not only were they to come up 00:32:03.05\00:32:04.31 with the interpretation of the dream 00:32:04.32\00:32:05.81 they were to come up with the dream itself. 00:32:05.82\00:32:09.13 And can you imagine what some of these 00:32:09.14\00:32:11.35 "wise men" thought about that. 00:32:11.36\00:32:14.63 In fact, their response to the king 00:32:14.64\00:32:16.19 was no one ever does that. 00:32:16.20\00:32:17.77 I mean we can come up with an interpretation 00:32:17.78\00:32:19.80 but we can't come up with the dream itself. 00:32:19.81\00:32:22.27 Of course, the response by king Nebuchadnezzar was, 00:32:22.28\00:32:24.73 listen if you are truly wise 00:32:24.74\00:32:26.02 you can come up with the whole thing. 00:32:26.03\00:32:28.67 They didn't like that and the Edith that went out 00:32:28.68\00:32:31.30 of course was that they would die 00:32:31.31\00:32:33.14 if they weren't able to come up with it. 00:32:33.15\00:32:34.75 Daniel heard about it. 00:32:34.76\00:32:36.32 His friends heard about it and they began to pray. 00:32:36.33\00:32:39.58 And as they prayed, they trusted in the Lord 00:32:39.59\00:32:41.83 that He would provide the interpretation 00:32:41.84\00:32:44.17 and the dream for Nebuchadnezzar 00:32:44.18\00:32:47.08 and the word goes out that Nebuchadnezzar, 00:32:47.09\00:32:49.72 the king should meet with Daniel 00:32:49.73\00:32:51.99 about this very thing. 00:32:52.00\00:32:53.95 And so let's see, 00:32:53.96\00:32:56.51 let's pick up this passage the story, 00:32:56.52\00:33:01.09 let's see here with verse, 00:33:01.10\00:33:03.74 let's talk about verse 17, 00:33:03.75\00:33:05.99 it says Daniel went to his house 00:33:06.00\00:33:08.05 after hearing about this death decree 00:33:08.06\00:33:11.65 and he made the decision known to Hananiah, Mishael, 00:33:11.66\00:33:15.46 and Azariah, his companions, 00:33:15.47\00:33:18.41 that they might sick mercies from God, 00:33:18.42\00:33:21.05 the God of heaven, concerning the secret, 00:33:21.06\00:33:23.50 so that Daniel and his companions 00:33:23.51\00:33:25.01 might not perish with the rest 00:33:25.02\00:33:26.39 of the wise men of Babylon. 00:33:26.40\00:33:28.44 Then the secret was revealed to Daniel in a night vision, 00:33:28.45\00:33:31.75 so Daniel blessed the God of heaven. 00:33:31.76\00:33:34.16 So Daniel received, none with the interpretation 00:33:34.17\00:33:36.97 but the dream itself, from God himself. 00:33:36.98\00:33:40.14 Yeah and these Hebrews were in very hostile atmosphere 00:33:40.15\00:33:44.89 and this was a common practice 00:33:44.90\00:33:46.15 back in those days. 00:33:46.16\00:33:47.36 You take a group of people, 00:33:47.37\00:33:48.77 you sort of siphon off the best. 00:33:48.78\00:33:50.77 You change their name, you change their culture, 00:33:50.78\00:33:52.69 you change their dress 00:33:52.70\00:33:54.20 and you really try to make them 00:33:54.21\00:33:56.09 into something that they are not. 00:33:56.10\00:33:57.46 The names are changed, Hananiah, Azariah, 00:33:57.47\00:33:59.24 Mishael changed to Shadrach, 00:33:59.25\00:34:00.99 Meshach, and Abednego. 00:34:01.00\00:34:02.73 And you really try to co-op their thinking, 00:34:02.74\00:34:06.59 try to brainwash them and change them. 00:34:06.60\00:34:10.02 So there is this pull now for them 00:34:10.03\00:34:12.14 to hold on to their garden and to their faith, 00:34:12.15\00:34:14.25 and now God gives them an opportunity 00:34:14.26\00:34:17.34 to show to this hostel environment 00:34:17.35\00:34:20.90 the kind of God that they serve. 00:34:20.91\00:34:22.24 Yes, and he does saw in a vision. Yes. 00:34:22.25\00:34:24.38 So clearly Daniel is a prophet 00:34:24.39\00:34:25.88 and he has had visions throughout this book 00:34:25.89\00:34:29.03 that are relating different times 00:34:29.04\00:34:31.40 and different kingdoms. 00:34:31.41\00:34:34.36 So let's look at verse 26 here 00:34:34.37\00:34:36.56 because Daniel comes before the king 00:34:36.57\00:34:38.60 and the king says to Daniel 00:34:38.61\00:34:40.29 whose name was Belteshazzar, 00:34:40.30\00:34:42.49 "Are thou able to make known unto me the dream 00:34:42.50\00:34:45.46 which I have seen," and it's interpretation, 00:34:45.47\00:34:49.10 Daniel answered in the presence 00:34:49.11\00:34:50.64 of the king and said, 00:34:50.65\00:34:51.89 "the secret which the king has demanded- the wise men, 00:34:51.90\00:34:55.82 the astrologers, the magicians, 00:34:55.83\00:34:57.65 the soothsayers, cannot declare to the king. 00:34:57.66\00:35:00.68 But there is a God in heaven who reveals secrets, 00:35:00.69\00:35:04.63 and He has made known to the king Nebuchadnezzar 00:35:04.64\00:35:07.08 what will be in the latter days. 00:35:07.09\00:35:09.56 Your dream and the visions of your head 00:35:09.57\00:35:12.82 will upon your bed, are these. 00:35:12.83\00:35:16.17 And then we get into what this dream 00:35:16.18\00:35:19.36 that king Nebuchadnezzar had 00:35:19.37\00:35:21.22 which was very much a dream that God had given him. 00:35:21.23\00:35:25.16 I mean the statement is clear 00:35:25.17\00:35:26.40 that God gave Nebuchadnezzar, 00:35:26.41\00:35:28.02 He revealed to Nebuchadnezzar 00:35:28.03\00:35:29.81 what will be in the latter days. 00:35:29.82\00:35:32.87 So here we have then as we began to look at this, 00:35:32.88\00:35:36.55 just to provide another quick snap shot, 00:35:36.56\00:35:39.15 we have God giving Nebuchadnezzar 00:35:39.16\00:35:41.84 the king a dream of what will happen 00:35:41.85\00:35:43.98 in the latter days. 00:35:43.99\00:35:45.99 But notice as the dream becomes known to Daniel 00:35:46.00\00:35:50.44 and he relates them to the king, 00:35:50.45\00:35:52.10 notice where he begins this latter day prophecy. 00:35:52.11\00:35:55.27 It's says in verse 29, 00:35:56.99\00:35:59.85 "As for you O king, 00:35:59.86\00:36:01.00 thoughts came to your mind while on your bed 00:36:01.01\00:36:03.28 about what would come to pass after this 00:36:03.29\00:36:06.05 and he who reveals secrets has meant to known to you 00:36:06.06\00:36:08.65 what that will be 00:36:08.66\00:36:10.53 but as for me this secret has not been revealed to me 00:36:10.54\00:36:13.03 because I have more wisdom than any one living, 00:36:13.04\00:36:16.54 but for our sakes who made known 00:36:16.55\00:36:18.98 the interpretation of the king, 00:36:18.99\00:36:20.81 and that you may know the thoughts of your heart. 00:36:20.82\00:36:24.32 You, O king, will watching and behold a great image. 00:36:24.33\00:36:27.80 This great image, whose splendor was excellent, 00:36:29.29\00:36:32.07 stood before you; and its form was awesome. 00:36:32.08\00:36:35.02 This image's head was of fine gold, 00:36:35.03\00:36:38.11 its chest and arms of silver, 00:36:38.12\00:36:39.96 its belly and thighs of bronze, 00:36:39.97\00:36:42.18 its legs of iron, 00:36:42.19\00:36:43.57 and its feet partly of iron and partly of clay. 00:36:43.58\00:36:47.84 You watch while a stone was cut out without hands, 00:36:47.85\00:36:50.52 which stroke the image on its feet of iron and clay, 00:36:50.53\00:36:53.98 and broke them in pieces. 00:36:53.99\00:36:56.06 Then the iron and the clay, the bronze, the silver, 00:36:56.07\00:36:58.47 the gold were crust together, 00:36:58.48\00:37:00.18 and became like chaff from the summer threshing floors. 00:37:00.19\00:37:03.83 The wind carried them away, 00:37:03.84\00:37:04.99 so that no trace of them was found: 00:37:05.00\00:37:07.41 and the stone was struck 00:37:07.42\00:37:08.51 the image became a great mountain, 00:37:08.52\00:37:10.16 and filled the earth. 00:37:10.17\00:37:12.12 This is the dream; now we will tell 00:37:12.13\00:37:15.13 the interpretation of it before the king. 00:37:15.14\00:37:18.23 You want to pick this up maybe here in Verse 36, 00:37:18.24\00:37:21.85 and we will just read through 00:37:21.86\00:37:22.83 the first part, the first few verses. 00:37:22.84\00:37:24.71 At Verse 37, "You, O king, are a king of kings: 00:37:27.17\00:37:31.24 for the God of heaven has given your kingdom, 00:37:31.25\00:37:33.84 power, and strength, and glory. 00:37:33.85\00:37:36.20 And wherever the children of men dwell, 00:37:36.21\00:37:38.48 or the beasts of the field and the birds of the heaven, 00:37:38.49\00:37:43.80 he has given them into your hand, 00:37:43.81\00:37:46.61 and has made you ruler over them all. 00:37:46.62\00:37:49.25 You are this head of gold. So identifies Him. 00:37:49.26\00:37:53.39 You are the start. We start with you. 00:37:53.40\00:37:55.55 You are the head of gold. 00:37:55.56\00:37:56.70 And notice, this is a super power. 00:37:56.71\00:37:58.95 He put all these things 00:37:58.96\00:38:00.13 into the hand of king Nebuchadnezzar. 00:38:00.14\00:38:02.03 Very true, yeah. 00:38:02.04\00:38:03.01 So one of the things we are talking about here 00:38:03.02\00:38:04.57 is not just it starts with Babylon 00:38:04.58\00:38:06.74 that this vision in its succession 00:38:06.75\00:38:08.78 as it continues to go through other kingdoms, 00:38:08.79\00:38:11.14 it's referring to superpowers, world kingdoms, 00:38:11.15\00:38:14.62 kingdoms that influence the world 00:38:14.63\00:38:15.94 that impacted the world and all its people. 00:38:15.95\00:38:18.53 Then go ahead, just maybe a couple more 00:38:21.16\00:38:22.83 and we will see the progression here, verse 39. 00:38:22.84\00:38:25.27 "But after you shall arise another kingdom 00:38:25.28\00:38:28.04 inferior to yours, then another, 00:38:28.05\00:38:31.48 a third kingdom of bronze, 00:38:31.49\00:38:34.42 which shall rule over all the earth. 00:38:34.43\00:38:36.69 So we are still talking about universal rule 00:38:36.70\00:38:38.57 not quite as glorious or strong or magnificent 00:38:38.58\00:38:43.31 or opulent as Babylon but still being world power. 00:38:43.32\00:38:48.94 Yes, yeah. 00:38:48.95\00:38:50.86 And the fourth kingdom shall be a strong 00:38:50.87\00:38:53.09 as iron in his as much as iron breaks in pieces 00:38:53.10\00:38:55.94 and subdueth everything and like iron that crosses 00:38:55.95\00:39:00.61 that kingdom will break in pieces 00:39:00.62\00:39:03.22 and crust all the others. 00:39:03.23\00:39:05.20 Okay, and then he gets into the iron 00:39:05.21\00:39:08.31 and clay mixed together in the feet, 00:39:08.32\00:39:10.34 which clearly implies the residue 00:39:10.35\00:39:12.09 of the legs of iron, that kingdom residue there, 00:39:12.10\00:39:15.47 but yet it's divided because iron does not mix with clay 00:39:15.48\00:39:19.12 and then of course 00:39:19.13\00:39:20.10 we get down to the stone that was cut out 00:39:20.11\00:39:24.12 of the mountain without hands, verse 45, 00:39:24.13\00:39:27.25 that when it broke or struck 00:39:27.26\00:39:28.93 the feet of iron mix with clay 00:39:28.94\00:39:32.27 that it broke not only that 00:39:32.28\00:39:33.86 but it broke all the entire image, 00:39:33.87\00:39:36.48 all its metals represented there and in fact, 00:39:36.49\00:39:40.98 we read earlier here 00:39:40.99\00:39:42.13 that no trace of them was found, verse 35. 00:39:42.14\00:39:45.43 And of course that kingdom is the kingdom of God 00:39:45.44\00:39:49.74 that strikes the image. Yeah. 00:39:49.75\00:39:51.12 So you find here in this vision, 00:39:51.13\00:39:52.60 pastor that start point is with Babylon, 00:39:52.61\00:39:58.60 the time at the present, the king of Babylon, 00:39:58.61\00:40:00.69 king Nebuchadnezzar which is why 00:40:00.70\00:40:02.63 God gave him that dream. Yes. 00:40:02.64\00:40:05.03 But then there was a progression. 00:40:05.04\00:40:06.01 There was another kingdom after him 00:40:06.02\00:40:07.20 and another kingdom after that 00:40:07.21\00:40:08.30 and the fourth kingdom. 00:40:08.31\00:40:09.77 But then as we get to the fourth kingdom, 00:40:09.78\00:40:11.58 there was no fifth kingdom per se except that 00:40:11.59\00:40:14.01 there is a divided fourth kingdom 00:40:14.02\00:40:16.33 that looks a lot different. 00:40:16.34\00:40:19.06 This Chapter 2 of this image, 00:40:19.07\00:40:21.84 this dream that we're seeing here, is also replayed out. 00:40:21.85\00:40:27.29 Its various pluses replayed out 00:40:27.30\00:40:28.79 through the rest of Daniel through other imagery, 00:40:28.80\00:40:31.71 through other symbols. 00:40:31.72\00:40:32.69 We find beast coming up in Chapter 7, 00:40:32.70\00:40:36.17 with the same kind of things. 00:40:36.18\00:40:37.85 A beast is a king or kingdom is to find 00:40:37.86\00:40:40.21 as a king of kingdom, 00:40:40.22\00:40:41.76 so referring to the same kind of thing, 00:40:41.77\00:40:44.70 we find also in Chapter 8, 00:40:44.71\00:40:46.79 a couple other kinds of beast 00:40:46.80\00:40:48.26 but specific kinds of beast. 00:40:48.27\00:40:50.19 There's a ram and there's a goat there, 00:40:50.20\00:40:52.25 and things that happened there. 00:40:52.26\00:40:53.92 But Daniel is full of visions 00:40:53.93\00:40:56.53 and dreams giving to people to repeat 00:40:56.54\00:40:59.61 what will happen overtime in prophecy, 00:40:59.62\00:41:02.24 but in larger provide for the detail 00:41:02.25\00:41:05.12 about those things. 00:41:05.13\00:41:06.10 So this is repeating and enlarging throughout 00:41:06.11\00:41:09.32 from this dream on down through the visions 00:41:09.33\00:41:11.26 given to Daniel through the rest of the Chapter 00:41:11.27\00:41:13.51 or through the rest of the book, 00:41:13.52\00:41:15.49 that are then picked up in Revelation 00:41:15.50\00:41:18.54 as the other bookend 00:41:18.55\00:41:20.16 and especially we find I say, picked up, 00:41:20.17\00:41:22.09 we find that in Revelation 13, 00:41:22.10\00:41:24.98 a repeating of the same beast powers of Daniel 7, 00:41:24.99\00:41:29.05 but in reverse order. In Reverse Order! 00:41:29.06\00:41:30.63 So even Daniel is looking 00:41:30.64\00:41:32.71 forward and down at the end of time 00:41:32.72\00:41:34.80 and Revelation looks back 00:41:34.81\00:41:36.81 opposite direction through Daniel, 00:41:36.82\00:41:39.23 telling us these are bookends, 00:41:39.24\00:41:41.68 both referring to or bring us 00:41:41.69\00:41:44.13 down to the events in the latter days. 00:41:44.14\00:41:46.23 And looking this through historical lenses 00:41:46.24\00:41:49.00 makes it so clear we are talking about, 00:41:49.01\00:41:50.67 it's a session of world kingdoms, 00:41:50.68\00:41:53.19 each differing from the one above in wealth and glory 00:41:53.20\00:41:57.51 and power and stamina and affect on the word 00:41:57.52\00:42:01.34 but a succession of wording powers 00:42:01.35\00:42:03.71 and Daniel 2 sets it forth so nicely 00:42:03.72\00:42:06.87 and so you don't really have to be deep theologian, 00:42:06.88\00:42:11.60 Daniel 2 lays that out for you. 00:42:11.61\00:42:13.71 It doesn't give you a lot of detail just yet 00:42:13.72\00:42:16.01 because you are not ready for a lot of detail 00:42:16.02\00:42:17.27 or not intricate stuff, it just gives you the idea 00:42:17.28\00:42:20.23 that they are going to be 00:42:20.24\00:42:21.21 a succession of world kingdoms 00:42:21.22\00:42:24.24 that are strong but different in nature 00:42:24.25\00:42:27.41 then you gonna have a divided 00:42:27.42\00:42:29.59 set of entities some strong, some weak 00:42:29.60\00:42:33.01 and in that time God is going to 00:42:33.02\00:42:34.83 call into this thing 00:42:34.84\00:42:36.48 and this image is going to be gone 00:42:36.49\00:42:38.43 and this world will give away to a new, 00:42:38.44\00:42:41.38 dare I say, World Order, 00:42:41.39\00:42:42.57 a new Universal Order really, 00:42:42.58\00:42:44.90 when Christ comes and puts an end to this age 00:42:44.91\00:42:48.36 that we now find ourselves.. 00:42:48.37\00:42:49.41 So it's a nice little package, 00:42:49.42\00:42:51.22 not a lot of relief, not a lot of detail 00:42:51.23\00:42:53.36 but you do get a very broad picture of what's going on 00:42:53.37\00:42:56.28 and that's what God want Nebuchadnezzar to see 00:42:56.29\00:42:59.07 at that moment and that time. 00:42:59.08\00:43:00.61 and through the rest of prophecy, 00:43:00.62\00:43:02.41 it seems like the Lord depicts these kingdom. 00:43:02.42\00:43:05.02 I mean, He doesn't seem, 00:43:05.03\00:43:06.13 He does depicts these kingdoms 00:43:06.14\00:43:07.49 in the form of beast 00:43:07.50\00:43:08.72 rather then this image. Yeah. 00:43:08.73\00:43:10.52 Now the image plays its part in that. 00:43:10.53\00:43:12.79 We find shortly after that in Chapter 3 00:43:12.80\00:43:16.45 that king Nebuchadnezzar is not happy with the image 00:43:16.46\00:43:19.46 just having a head of gold. 00:43:19.47\00:43:20.48 He says, you know, if gold is referring to Babylon, 00:43:20.49\00:43:23.32 the whole image needs to be gold 00:43:23.33\00:43:25.00 and so it's really defiance of what's God plan was. 00:43:25.01\00:43:28.13 Very much so, yes. 00:43:28.14\00:43:29.48 And we don't have time to go into all of that 00:43:29.49\00:43:31.49 but just kind of sophist to say for now at least that 00:43:31.50\00:43:35.88 we are seeing a model 00:43:35.89\00:43:36.94 of Historicism here in prophecy. 00:43:36.95\00:43:39.40 It's got a starting point in history 00:43:39.41\00:43:41.55 and it's a timeline, an unbroken timeline 00:43:41.56\00:43:46.39 down to the very end referred 00:43:46.40\00:43:47.78 to as the latter days that events occur 00:43:47.79\00:43:51.73 and as Daniel repeats and enlarger 00:43:51.74\00:43:54.28 through other imagery throughout Daniel, 00:43:54.29\00:43:56.72 we need to find out where on that timeline 00:43:56.73\00:43:59.23 that they plugged in. Yes, yes, yes. 00:43:59.24\00:44:01.81 And we do that it seems like in recent Daniel 7 and 8, 00:44:01.82\00:44:05.07 through different imagery like beast and other things 00:44:05.08\00:44:09.54 and it's interesting to know that always 00:44:09.55\00:44:11.57 the four kingdoms are represented there. 00:44:11.58\00:44:13.60 Even when you get to beast there are four beasts, 00:44:13.61\00:44:15.82 just like there are four metals. Yes, yes. 00:44:15.83\00:44:18.45 And the, when you get to those kingdom 00:44:18.46\00:44:23.52 we know, of course, the first one is Babylon 00:44:23.53\00:44:26.39 that's already been told, 00:44:26.40\00:44:28.22 but Daniel actually has revealed to him 00:44:28.23\00:44:30.65 the next two kingdom. Yes. 00:44:30.66\00:44:32.88 Now talking about them is being beast. 00:44:32.89\00:44:35.52 Yes, it does shift to that instead 00:44:35.53\00:44:37.06 of the imagery of the image itself. 00:44:37.07\00:44:40.83 But the next two metals which are silver and bronze 00:44:40.84\00:44:45.31 are the second and third kingdoms 00:44:45.32\00:44:47.41 of Daniel Chapter 7 and 8, 00:44:47.42\00:44:50.05 and it says in Daniel 8 verse 20 and 21 00:44:50.06\00:44:55.32 that the ram that's the first beast 00:44:55.33\00:44:58.40 identify in Daniel 8 represents 00:44:58.41\00:45:00.88 the kings of Media and Persia. 00:45:00.89\00:45:02.90 And we know for a fact that the Medes and Persians, 00:45:03.86\00:45:06.71 some refer to it as Medo-Persia, 00:45:06.72\00:45:08.84 are the ones that conquered Babylon. 00:45:08.85\00:45:11.35 So it make sense that the next kingdom 00:45:11.36\00:45:13.17 would be Medo-Persia. 00:45:13.18\00:45:14.70 What we ask in history 00:45:14.71\00:45:16.11 what was the kingdom that conquered Medo-Persia? 00:45:16.12\00:45:18.81 Well, the Greeks did that 00:45:18.82\00:45:19.82 and they did that very swiftly 00:45:19.83\00:45:21.80 and we find in 8 verse 21, 00:45:21.81\00:45:24.87 and the male goat is the kingdom of Greece: 00:45:24.88\00:45:27.90 So there is even not just a historical reference 00:45:27.91\00:45:30.40 we can go to find out 00:45:30.41\00:45:31.63 the progression of this time prophecy, 00:45:31.64\00:45:33.99 the Bible itself even tells us 00:45:34.00\00:45:35.48 what those next two kingdoms are. 00:45:35.49\00:45:37.60 And of course this is played out in history. 00:45:37.61\00:45:40.24 So we are getting, the nice thing 00:45:40.25\00:45:43.13 about Daniel is, every time you come back to this 00:45:43.14\00:45:45.28 you get a little more coloring in the lines. 00:45:45.29\00:45:48.10 You get this broad picture in Daniel 2. 00:45:48.11\00:45:50.70 You know there are succession of word kingdoms, 00:45:50.71\00:45:53.56 but you don't get a lot of relief, 00:45:53.57\00:45:56.10 a lot of detail I should say. 00:45:56.11\00:45:57.97 But when you go now to Daniel 8, Daniel 9, 00:45:57.98\00:46:00.58 you get a little more detail, 00:46:00.59\00:46:01.59 you get a little more coloring in. 00:46:01.60\00:46:03.28 And of course this has been backed by history 00:46:03.29\00:46:05.78 and so you see that the Bible is a book, 00:46:05.79\00:46:08.94 dare I say, of history. 00:46:08.95\00:46:10.64 There is a history timeline that's very plain, 00:46:10.65\00:46:14.71 very little, very evident to be seen 00:46:14.72\00:46:19.61 as you go back to these kingdoms again 00:46:19.62\00:46:22.55 and again and again, 00:46:22.56\00:46:23.53 to get a little more detail on each one. 00:46:23.54\00:46:25.22 And I think to a great degree today, 00:46:25.23\00:46:27.68 if we forget our history then what is the text 00:46:27.69\00:46:31.04 that we don't understand how God has laid us, really. 00:46:31.05\00:46:35.22 And so it's a same way with prophecy 00:46:35.23\00:46:37.35 if you don't understand the history 00:46:37.36\00:46:38.75 and how it ties into the prophetic timeline 00:46:38.76\00:46:41.18 then you can almost forget in prophecy where you are. 00:46:41.19\00:46:45.28 And that to a great degree has fed 00:46:45.29\00:46:47.14 or fueled Futurism. Yes, yes, yes. 00:46:47.15\00:46:50.01 And I want to, as it's gonna tell you 00:46:50.02\00:46:52.73 where the Futurism model, kind of began here. 00:46:52.74\00:46:55.96 And for that let's turn Daniel Chapter 9. 00:46:55.97\00:46:58.38 There is couple of time prophecies within Daniel, 00:46:58.39\00:47:01.29 the first one is Daniel 8:14 through 23, 00:47:01.30\00:47:03.26 the days I referred to earlier 00:47:03.27\00:47:04.68 which is actually years, 00:47:04.69\00:47:06.71 because a day equals a year in prophecy. 00:47:06.72\00:47:09.24 But then there is the 490 which is the 70 weeks, 00:47:09.25\00:47:13.51 seven time seventy is 490 days, 00:47:13.52\00:47:16.95 day equals year, 490 year prophecy 00:47:16.96\00:47:20.05 which is a part of the 2300 years, 00:47:20.06\00:47:23.41 the beginning part of that 2300 years. 00:47:23.42\00:47:26.25 And I know that, we are not getting 00:47:26.26\00:47:27.86 into a lot of detail on this 00:47:27.87\00:47:29.04 and that's not really our goal here today, 00:47:29.05\00:47:31.55 but I do want to show you something 00:47:31.56\00:47:33.54 that is often abused, 00:47:33.55\00:47:35.42 that is a essential to Futurism. 00:47:35.43\00:47:38.52 That if you understand what happened, 00:47:38.53\00:47:42.38 you will know immediately you must toss out Futurism 00:47:42.39\00:47:46.13 entirely and stick with Historicism. 00:47:46.14\00:47:48.29 So Daniel Chapter 9 gives a sequence 00:47:48.30\00:47:53.44 of what happens during these 70 weeks, these 490 years. 00:47:53.45\00:47:59.27 And when we get to the end of the 490 years 00:47:59.28\00:48:02.32 there is a one week left. 00:48:02.33\00:48:05.40 The last week of those 70 weeks 00:48:05.41\00:48:08.50 is covered in verses, let's see here, 00:48:08.51\00:48:13.88 in verse 27 for the most part. 00:48:13.89\00:48:16.52 Yes. Okay. 00:48:16.53\00:48:18.75 So it says here, in fact, let's start with 26 00:48:18.76\00:48:22.98 'cause it's covered in 26 as well. 00:48:22.99\00:48:25.18 You will see in 25 it talks should be 7 weeks 00:48:25.19\00:48:28.14 and 62 weeks which added to 69 covered down through 25. 00:48:28.15\00:48:33.74 But then 26 and 27 leaves the last week 00:48:33.75\00:48:36.07 and here is what he says about it. 00:48:36.08\00:48:38.14 And after 62 weeks that brings us to the 69 00:48:38.15\00:48:40.98 'cause you got 7 and 62. 00:48:40.99\00:48:43.63 "Messiah shall be cut off, but not for himself: 00:48:43.64\00:48:47.22 and the people of the prince who has to come 00:48:47.23\00:48:49.11 shall destroy the city and the sanctuary; 00:48:49.12\00:48:51.49 the end of it shall be with a flood, 00:48:51.50\00:48:53.71 until the end of the war desolations are determined." 00:48:53.72\00:48:57.61 Talking about that last week is refers to as the week 00:48:57.62\00:49:01.97 where the Messiah shall come in the middle of that week, 00:49:01.98\00:49:04.89 he shall be cut off. 00:49:04.90\00:49:07.07 So this the 490 years, the 70 weeks, 00:49:07.08\00:49:11.10 that very last week is referred 00:49:11.11\00:49:14.00 to as the manifestation of the Messiah. 00:49:14.01\00:49:18.28 And what His ministry is all about. 00:49:18.29\00:49:20.71 And here is the thing with that. 00:49:20.72\00:49:23.54 For years, for centuries, 00:49:23.55\00:49:26.67 this prophecy of 70 weeks 00:49:26.68\00:49:28.38 was referred to as the Messianic Prophecy, 00:49:28.39\00:49:32.00 the Messianic Time Prophecy. 00:49:32.01\00:49:33.53 It was prophecy revealing when the Messiah would come, 00:49:33.54\00:49:38.37 and the Messiah comes in the, 00:49:38.38\00:49:40.23 he manifest himself. 00:49:40.24\00:49:42.09 He is anointed for ministry 00:49:42.10\00:49:43.46 at the beginning of that 70th week. 00:49:43.47\00:49:46.40 Now as you go on here, it talks about 00:49:46.41\00:49:49.19 that he referring back to the Messiah 00:49:49.20\00:49:51.28 shall confirm covenant with many for one week, 00:49:51.29\00:49:54.25 that's the last week but in the middle of the week 00:49:54.26\00:49:56.72 he shall bring and to sacrifice 00:49:56.73\00:49:58.35 and offering which Christ did, 00:49:58.36\00:50:01.32 through the cross, and on the wing 00:50:01.33\00:50:03.66 of abomination shall be one who makes desolate 00:50:03.67\00:50:06.80 even until the consummation 00:50:06.81\00:50:08.13 which is determined is poured out on the desolate. 00:50:08.14\00:50:11.23 So this last week 00:50:11.24\00:50:12.43 which is referring to the time of Christ, 00:50:12.44\00:50:15.96 he is anointing for ministry, 00:50:15.97\00:50:17.34 his last 7 years of ministry that were cut short 00:50:17.35\00:50:19.79 by his crucifixion in the middle of the week, 00:50:19.80\00:50:22.95 and He confirmed that Covenant 00:50:22.96\00:50:24.08 with the rest of all through His the apostles 00:50:24.09\00:50:27.63 that He anointed for Ministry 00:50:27.64\00:50:28.84 is to preach the Gospel, referring that week 00:50:28.85\00:50:32.35 what happens in Futurism is, they take that 70th week, 00:50:32.36\00:50:36.59 that one week, they remove it from the timeline, 00:50:36.60\00:50:39.96 pick it up and put it at the very end of time 00:50:39.97\00:50:43.78 to refer to a time after Revelation Chapter 4, 00:50:43.79\00:50:47.76 which is still today in the future they say 00:50:47.77\00:50:51.38 and they say refers to not Christ but the Antichrist. 00:50:51.39\00:50:55.65 Right, and there was not justification 00:50:55.66\00:50:57.95 for lifting that week out of context 00:50:57.96\00:51:00.01 and taking it all the way down to the end of time. 00:51:00.02\00:51:02.20 The description here says until Messiah. 00:51:04.72\00:51:07.82 So it's not a Cataloguing 00:51:07.83\00:51:12.58 or Identification of the birth of Christ, 00:51:12.59\00:51:14.79 it's at the point that began His ministry. 00:51:14.80\00:51:16.74 That's when he became Messiah, 00:51:16.75\00:51:17.91 that's when he became the one who began 00:51:17.92\00:51:20.85 to be our example and to do the work for us. 00:51:20.86\00:51:22.95 So it's a designation of the time 00:51:22.96\00:51:25.24 when Jesus Ministry would begin, 00:51:25.25\00:51:27.47 to lift that and take it to the end, 00:51:27.48\00:51:29.38 there is simply no Biblical justification 00:51:29.39\00:51:31.81 for removing that week from its fellows. 00:51:31.82\00:51:34.45 It's a package. 00:51:34.46\00:51:35.43 You got 70 weeks. 00:51:35.44\00:51:36.41 You got 69 and 1. 00:51:36.42\00:51:38.52 The reason that one is designated 00:51:38.53\00:51:40.64 is because something specific and spectacular 00:51:40.65\00:51:43.25 and wonderful it's going to happen, 00:51:43.26\00:51:44.68 but its part of that whole package, not separated 00:51:44.69\00:51:48.14 and taken down to the evidence. 00:51:48.15\00:51:49.31 And this is the essential role of Historicism. 00:51:49.32\00:51:51.14 You cannot break out 00:51:51.15\00:51:53.47 a part of prophetic timeline, 00:51:53.48\00:51:55.21 and put it somewhere else. 00:51:55.22\00:51:57.06 Historicism says it's an unbroken time prophecy 00:51:57.07\00:52:00.02 that has a beginning that has an end 00:52:00.03\00:52:02.14 and you can't muddy or you can't remove 00:52:02.15\00:52:05.44 any of its part along that timeline. 00:52:05.45\00:52:07.29 And if you pull it out of context you actually erase 00:52:07.30\00:52:10.66 the identification of Jesus as Messiah. 00:52:10.67\00:52:13.16 That's the biggest part. 00:52:13.17\00:52:14.40 I mean the most sinister aspect of Futurism is 00:52:14.41\00:52:18.97 that you are making Christ, the Antichrist. 00:52:18.98\00:52:21.57 Precisely, yeah, yeah. 00:52:21.58\00:52:23.68 The greatest work ever done on behalf of humanity 00:52:23.69\00:52:26.95 gets no identification if you pull that week out 00:52:26.96\00:52:30.42 because it's that week that set aside, 00:52:30.43\00:52:32.59 identifies, highlights, glorifies, 00:52:32.60\00:52:35.47 dare I say the work of Christ, 00:52:35.48\00:52:37.07 and if you pull that out of there 00:52:37.08\00:52:38.20 you make Christ now Antichrist. 00:52:38.21\00:52:40.01 There you go. Yeah. 00:52:40.02\00:52:41.01 You know, and one of the other pieces of that is 00:52:41.02\00:52:43.16 that it supported by the Rapture Theory. 00:52:43.17\00:52:47.53 Because the rapture is said to occur 00:52:47.54\00:52:49.76 at the beginning of that week 00:52:49.77\00:52:51.89 which leaves 7 years for those not raptured, 00:52:51.90\00:52:54.55 the church not raptured to experience the Antichrist, 00:52:54.56\00:52:57.71 the last battle between truth and error, 00:52:57.72\00:53:00.13 for then people to decide whether 00:53:00.14\00:53:01.37 or not they are saved with Christ or not. 00:53:01.38\00:53:03.18 Now this is all False Theology. 00:53:03.19\00:53:05.21 I am sharing this with you 00:53:05.22\00:53:06.49 as an essential piece of Futurism to show you 00:53:06.50\00:53:08.39 what's not right about it. Yeah. 00:53:08.40\00:53:10.40 And what it essentially has done is, 00:53:10.41\00:53:12.36 it's removed Historicism point to what Jesus did 00:53:12.37\00:53:16.53 and it puts in place of the Antichrist 00:53:16.54\00:53:18.66 at the end of time 00:53:18.67\00:53:20.22 and also destroys the historical timeline 00:53:20.23\00:53:22.81 of the time prophecy that takes us 00:53:22.82\00:53:24.68 down to the end of time. 00:53:24.69\00:53:25.88 There is no then reference point for knowing 00:53:25.89\00:53:29.86 or kind of we have done there, 00:53:29.87\00:53:32.03 there is no reference point for knowing 00:53:32.04\00:53:33.37 when the last days start. 00:53:33.38\00:53:36.42 Because you remove the ending point 00:53:36.43\00:53:38.38 for the 2300 days 00:53:38.39\00:53:39.51 that points to the beginning of the Latter Day prophecy, 00:53:39.52\00:53:44.07 which then you are all over the map again. Yeah. 00:53:44.08\00:53:48.89 You really have no anchor. 00:53:48.90\00:53:50.31 There is no way to know where you are 00:53:50.32\00:53:52.37 or what you doing or even where you going 00:53:52.38\00:53:54.06 because your starting point just disappears. 00:53:54.07\00:53:57.34 You taken the blunt and eraser 00:53:57.35\00:53:59.39 and you just take it out. 00:53:59.40\00:54:00.85 So now where am I? You just don't, you don't know. 00:54:00.86\00:54:03.05 Yeah, and this is where this text. 00:54:03.06\00:54:04.93 Let me just share a text with you 00:54:04.94\00:54:06.06 that comes into play here. 00:54:06.07\00:54:07.92 From Second Peter Chapter 1 verses 19 to 21. 00:54:07.93\00:54:12.14 And so we have the prophetic word 00:54:12.15\00:54:14.48 confirmed, which you do well 00:54:14.49\00:54:17.11 to heed as a light that shines in a dark place 00:54:17.12\00:54:19.59 until the day dawns and the morning star 00:54:19.60\00:54:21.36 rises in your hearts knowing this 00:54:21.37\00:54:23.09 first that no prophecy of the scripture 00:54:23.10\00:54:26.09 is of any private interpretation, 00:54:26.10\00:54:29.03 for prophecy never came by the will of man, 00:54:29.04\00:54:31.08 but holy men of God spoke 00:54:31.09\00:54:33.75 as they were moved by the Holy Spirit. 00:54:33.76\00:54:35.99 In other words, what we see today at least 00:54:36.00\00:54:39.35 if it's in the model outside of Historicism, 00:54:39.36\00:54:41.73 are nothing but private interpretations. 00:54:41.74\00:54:44.22 It is looking at the paper to see whether or not 00:54:44.23\00:54:47.61 maybe a certain event that happened 00:54:47.62\00:54:49.30 might fit within a certain prophecy, 00:54:49.31\00:54:51.80 and it's grasping for straws. 00:54:51.81\00:54:55.43 It's trying to make something fit 00:54:55.44\00:54:58.00 without any context of time 00:54:58.01\00:55:00.16 or element of time in knowing 00:55:00.17\00:55:01.54 where you are in that time of prophecy 00:55:01.55\00:55:03.25 which is why today so many, 00:55:03.26\00:55:05.43 back to where we started pastor, yes, 00:55:05.44\00:55:07.25 so many false prophets out there 00:55:07.26\00:55:08.94 are giving a prophecy, yet it falls flat. 00:55:08.95\00:55:11.93 It doesn't come to proving. 00:55:11.94\00:55:13.13 It doesn't happen because they obdurate the structure 00:55:13.14\00:55:16.55 of scripture and obdurate the rules, 00:55:16.56\00:55:19.50 biblical rules for interpreting prophecy. 00:55:19.51\00:55:22.15 The only way this makes sense 00:55:22.16\00:55:23.66 is to really follow the rules 00:55:23.67\00:55:26.03 and since prophecy is and can be treacherous water, 00:55:26.04\00:55:31.32 when you go in there 00:55:31.33\00:55:32.83 you need to follow the rules of swimming 00:55:32.84\00:55:34.46 because you can get turn around really. 00:55:34.47\00:55:37.69 You know, when I was back in Long Island in New York, 00:55:37.70\00:55:40.31 they had these undercurrent red tides, 00:55:40.32\00:55:42.49 you know, you couldn't see them but they were there. 00:55:42.50\00:55:44.50 And if you didn't watch out it 00:55:44.51\00:55:46.99 would pull you under and you couldn't be rescued. 00:55:47.00\00:55:50.32 It is the same with prophecy. 00:55:50.33\00:55:51.30 Prophecy can be understood, but it can be a mind feel 00:55:51.31\00:55:55.05 unless you follow those rules 00:55:55.06\00:55:56.78 laid down in the Word for understanding prophecy. 00:55:56.79\00:55:59.95 Amen. Yeah. 00:55:59.96\00:56:01.63 You know we've talked about a lot 00:56:01.64\00:56:03.25 in the last couple of days, 00:56:03.26\00:56:05.57 in the last couple of program on this, 00:56:05.58\00:56:07.45 and I just want to encourage all of you 00:56:07.46\00:56:09.45 out there who is studying this, 00:56:09.46\00:56:10.86 and maybe you have an interest in prophecy 00:56:10.87\00:56:13.32 to really stick with the Bible 00:56:13.33\00:56:14.51 and the Bible alone. 00:56:14.52\00:56:16.24 One of the things it comes to mind, 00:56:16.25\00:56:17.59 I've heard for in different aspects, 00:56:17.60\00:56:20.06 you know, oh I know what the mark of the beast is. 00:56:20.07\00:56:22.92 You know, well I know that number 666 is, 00:56:22.93\00:56:25.85 and it's always something like 00:56:25.86\00:56:26.83 it's some super computer or some, 00:56:26.84\00:56:29.09 you know, the number that's on a credit card 00:56:29.10\00:56:31.08 or some, you know, mark or microchip in your hand 00:56:31.09\00:56:34.76 or on your forehead or something like that. 00:56:34.77\00:56:37.37 There is always this grasping 00:56:37.38\00:56:38.54 what they think it might be. 00:56:38.55\00:56:40.67 But, you know, I want to encourage you friends, 00:56:40.68\00:56:43.23 stick to the word because beast is defined, 00:56:43.24\00:56:47.15 mark is defined, 00:56:47.16\00:56:48.99 seal is defined, all these elements. 00:56:49.00\00:56:52.62 The symbols within prophecies are defined 00:56:52.63\00:56:55.17 and if you define them 00:56:55.18\00:56:56.66 within the context of Historicism, 00:56:56.67\00:56:59.35 the prophetic timeline that has a beginning 00:56:59.36\00:57:01.18 and that has an end, 00:57:01.19\00:57:02.41 then you will know the elements of time 00:57:02.42\00:57:04.02 and you will see these things, 00:57:04.03\00:57:05.37 these powers, these things, 00:57:05.38\00:57:06.88 these events come into play and nowhere they fit 00:57:06.89\00:57:10.19 and nowhere we are today in history, 00:57:10.20\00:57:13.14 which is at the cusp of Jesus return, amen, 00:57:13.15\00:57:17.62 which we believe is just around the corner. 00:57:17.63\00:57:19.97 Friends get ready for that time as Jesus said, 00:57:19.98\00:57:23.43 He tells you these things 00:57:23.44\00:57:24.41 beforehand that you may know, 00:57:24.42\00:57:25.95 study the word of God, study prophecy because 00:57:25.96\00:57:28.24 I think in that He has an incredible 00:57:28.25\00:57:30.40 blessing for you and for your life. 00:57:30.41\00:57:32.20 God bless you.
