here with a scripture

can a person be justified

It's the moment you believe

Sanctification although
it sets you apart as holy,

it is a process of
holy and right living.

It's a day to day
process of Christ filling you

with His righteousness
and you living out that life,

uh, based upon His work.

His work through you, uh,
until that day of glorification

which is that last step

So there is a
process to sanctification

just as there is
an instantaneous,

uh, crediting to your
account the merits of Christ

the moment you believe in Him.

Now the last question here is,

uh, can a person sin
after he or she is justified?

Yes, now here's
one of the things

that I think is a
common misconception of some,

that once you believe or
proclaim your faith in Christ

and are
justified that the moment

you commit any sin,
you are then unjustified,
00:08:16.97\00:08:20.95
then you are out of Christ
and lost. And that is not true.

That at the Bible
does not teach that.

What the Bible teaches is
that when once you are justified

and you begin to
live that life in Christ

as He is sanctifying you,
you will make some mistakes.

You may just commit some sins.

But immediately and

he tries to convince
you that you have done

something beyond

the blood that He has

His intercession in heaven for
you right now is not sufficient.

But we find this wonderful
passage from 1 John 2:1,

confidence that even though

you have made a mistake,

don't loose your grip on Christ.

He will work with you.

intercede in your behalf,

His blood is applied for
you in the heavenly sanctuary.

And as your advocate, He makes
sure that, that sin is covered.

you so that you may not sin.

sins, we have an advocate

sin, God will is that you don't.

sin, Jesus, your advocate,

once a child gets to that age

where they begin to
make their decisions

and they become
destructive or maybe do things

that are clearly
hurting the family,

and are causing
dissension in the family,

you may at the time see that,

listen that
course they are taking

is clearly not for the
family, it's against it.

You would allow
that person to leave

or you may even kick
them out of the house

to avoid that passing
onto the rest of your children.

And in that case the
sinner, a sinner that falls back

into the practice of sin

occasional deed and misdeed,

precipitate that occuring again.

So there's some individuals
that are tormented over the idea

that they're
struggling and is it--

my salvation here?

justified more than once?

sanctified more than once?

So I'm hearing what the person

I'm struggling
with something here,

I used to be a Christian,
but I left the church.

I may have been out
for many, many years.

I remember a prayer meeting.

We have a wonderful prayer
meeting here Wednesday nights.

We were talking about revelation
and one of the gentleman said,

"Well, how long do we
have to be out of the church

before you need to come back
00:12:14.49\00:12:16.23
and give your
life to Christ again?"
00:12:16.24\00:12:17.86
And he said, "Well, do
you need to be baptized again
00:12:17.87\00:12:20.00
if you've left the church,
00:12:20.01\00:12:21.03
if you've left the
Lord, you've gone on?"
00:12:21.04\00:12:22.18
I said, "Yes." He
said then schedule it.
00:12:22.19\00:12:25.52
And he had been
out of the church
00:12:25.53\00:12:26.70
for 25 years at
that particular point.

He had confessed he
had done so many things

that have wronged the Lord

and he had walked
away from the grace of God.

But you know the beautiful thing

about that is God's grace
is greater than our failure.

God doesn't say, well,
you know, you've blown it

I don't want anything
to do with you any longer.

But he points out
the fact that even

if you've messed up, He is
continuing to work in your life.

And for those
who have just clearly

cut the lines
between them and the Lord,

I want you to hear
this passage in the Bible.

And I'm gonna read a few verses.

First of all the
question about justification.

Here is one other
ways to remember it,

justification and sanctification
and glorification,

all three stages in
the process of salvation.

Justification is salvation
from the penalty of sin.

Sanctification is
salvation from the power of sin.

And glorification is salvation
from the presence of sin.

So when you come to the Lord,

you are justified and get
this, and sanctified instantly.

Day by day you're
being sanctified continually.

And what do I mean by that?

Let me read a couple of passages

and then tell you what I mean.

Acts 26:18, talking
about the mission of Jesus

to open their eyes in order

to turn them from
darkness to light.

And from the
power of satan to God

that they may
receive forgiveness of sins
00:13:50.43\00:13:53.85
and an inheritance among those
00:13:53.86\00:13:55.84
who are
sanctified by faith in me.

Notice, present
tense are sanctified.

But then Hebrews now 2:11,
"For both He who sanctifies
00:14:02.12\00:14:07.40
and those who are being
sanctified are all of one."

In other words, the one
who sanctifies is Jesus.

The one who has
being sanctified is us.

So you have that being and are.

Jesus sanctified
the Sabbath instantly.

When we live in the
life of Christ everyday,

we are being sanctified.

We are as Paul
says, growing in grace.

But I want you to get this now.

We have to keep in mind
and John pointed this out

and I want to reiterate this.

Is it possible to sin?
Is it possible to fall away

after we have been justified

and after we
have been sanctified?

And the answer is yes.

That's why Paul in
Roman 6 says to us verse 12,

"Do not let sin
reign in your mortal body

that you should
obey it in its lusts."

So what happens
after we're justified

and while we're
being sanctified?

We still have
something call this mortal body.

And because we don't
forget everything we did,

there is a tendency
when we do not yield

our lives to Christ
in a day by day basis

that we could
fall back into sin.

But Paul says,
"Don't let it happen.

Don't let sin reign
in your mortal bodies."

That's why in Roman 7,
he says, "I die daily."

So you have to keep
that in mind the daily death

to self keeps you in
that justified condition,

keeps you in that
sanctifying relationship

which is the
saving walk with Christ.
