they want the name of

They like that part, but
the changing of the life.

The things
required to order your life

in harmony with
what His will is.

They don't like and so that's
why the words they are said,

hey, you know, we want

They want to do own
thing. Wear our own apparel.

way that they want to look.

That is something that
they're not willing to give up.

But they like
the name of Christ.

So this is really what it means.

to Adam and Eve, his wife.

they both were naked,

the man and his
wife, and were not ashamed.

Now it talked
about they didn't have on
00:05:59.81\00:06:01.34
physical
clothing, as we have today

but they were covered
in the garment of Christ.

His righteousness, this garment

that they lost after they sinned

and as you know in Genesis 3,

the Bible says in
Genesis 3 and verse 7,

then the eyes of
both of them were opened,

and they knew
that they were naked,

and they sewed
fig leaves together

and made themselves covering.

And in this case, that's exactly

what's happening on Isaiah.

They're making
coverings for themselves.

They were still
the creation of God.

Adam was still made by God.

Eve was still made from Adam.

And was still a creation of God,

but it says they
made themselves covering

and the difference is when
the Lord came looking for them

and He said in

this is the
response that Adam gave,

themselves covering,

but when the Lord called Adam

He noted-- he acknowledged

that his covering
really keeps him as naked

because it was not the covering

that God gave to him.

So what I'm first
connecting here is in Isaiah 4,

those who eat their own bread

and we could talk
about bread all day long.

But we know what that
means synonymously in scripture.

But those who
wear their own apparel,

those who have
their own garments

Because they're self righteous.

is what exactly the
Lord dealt with them.

Have you eaten
from the tree of which

I commanded you

And usually when we do
what God tells us not to do,

it leads to
losing His righteousness.

It leads to a garment
that we've to substitute.

In this sense, Isaiah says,

they're those who
just want His name,

but they don't want His garment.

Yeah. Okay.

The other thing too it
says and you've mentioned

this before about
eating their own food.

You know, the bread of life
is synonymous with scripture.

Studying the word of God

and letting it
come into your heart

and allowing to transform
your life and your mind.

They want to read other things.

They want to order their life

and harmony with other
principles besides God's word.

There is no
transformation of the life.

There is just a desire to
be called by the name of Christ

because they do recognize
the Christ is the Savior

and that's the key
for this verse, I think.

This is more of
talking about people

who are professed Christians

then it is talking about those

who do not profess Christianity

who want nothing
to do with God. Okay.

So really what we're
looking at is the church...

full of names-- people

who profess Christ and His name,

sanctifying element

the name of Christ.

They don't want anything
to do with the changed life.

they're also substituting.

Let's go down the road
little bit on this topic.

Their substitution falls
into every different categories,

but they really fall
under one classification,

your own
righteousness or your own,

well, yeah, that's the best
one, your own righteousness.

This is not the
righteousness of Jesus.

And Jesus addressed this one

in Revelation
Chapter 16, verse 15.

He says, behold,
I'm coming as a thief.

Blessed as He who
watches, and keeps his garments,

lest he walks naked,
and they see his shame.

So you see there, the garment

that the Lord is
saying that we all need

is the garment He gave to us.

Because there
is no other garment

that could keep us from
being naked than his garment

and that's a very
amazing comparison

the Bible uses all the time

and I thought
it was not unusual,

John, that one of the conditions

of the last church
is they're wretched,

miserable, poor,
blind, and naked.

So we're living in a very,

we're living in a naked
age in more ways than one.

know about the fashions

and Lord have mercy
when the summer comes.

all living in a naked age

in the very same way
we're living in an age

where Christianity is
more naked than ever before.

The Lord is saying the problem
with that is they're naked.

They're wretched.
They're miserable.

They're poor. They're blind,

but they don't
even know it. Right.

So the
substitutes make them think

that somehow these
substitutes are good enough

to take the place of what
the Lord really requires. Yeah.

The other verse
that comes to mind

Timothy Chapter 3:1 through 4.

It says--oh, 1 through 5.

But know this
that in the last days

perilous times will come.

For men will be
lovers of themselves.

And it goes through
a list of things here,

lovers of money,
boasters, proud, blasphemers,

disobedient to
parents, various things.

But then he gets
down to verse 5--verse 4,

lovers of pleasure
rather than lovers of God.

See they don't love God,

although they're
taking on the name of God

and we know that
because verse 5 says

having a form of Godliness,

which I would
suggest is simply the name.

That's another good
one. That's a very good one.

But denying its power.

So they don't
want-- they want the name,

but they don't
want to be transformed

that's one of the reasons

these things exists,

in an age of substitutes.

rhinestone and a diamond,

a leather and pleather.

And we're living in an
age where things look genuine,

but they're not really made.

And if you get close enough,

you see this on the
label, manmade material.

And there is a lot of
manmade religion today.

A lot of manmade substitutes

under the guise of Christianity.

You go to various
churches around the world

and lot of things are manmade.

Well, the problem with
that is they may feel--

they may make you
feel like the real thing

in fact it's a substitute

your experience on

sometimes synthetic leather
