Murray. 00:00:27.56\00:00:30.88 Good to be here. 00:00:30.89\00:00:31.86 Yes, it's great to have you here C.A. 00:00:31.87\00:00:33.16 I am Pastor John Stanton, 00:00:33.17\00:00:34.36 and I am usually here with you. 00:00:34.37\00:00:35.76 We are so thankful that you have decided 00:00:35.77\00:00:37.29 to join us today. 00:00:37.30\00:00:38.93 And we have an exciting program 00:00:38.94\00:00:40.50 that we've kind of put together 00:00:40.51\00:00:42.58 here on a unique topic, say Lord and Savior. 00:00:42.59\00:00:46.81 What are the differences in the words, 00:00:46.82\00:00:49.14 because we see them use throughout scripture, 00:00:49.15\00:00:51.63 but rarely I think people talk about that, 00:00:51.64\00:00:53.40 but we are going to get into that today-- 00:00:53.41\00:00:54.82 Yeah, people tend to think, they are interchangeable, 00:00:54.83\00:00:56.56 they actually are not. That's right. 00:00:56.57\00:00:57.90 They are quite different. They are very much different. 00:00:57.91\00:00:59.97 And I think we'll discover that today. 00:00:59.98\00:01:01.47 That's right, Lord and Savior, 00:01:01.48\00:01:03.49 so He is both, and so we praise the Lord 00:01:03.50\00:01:05.74 for being able to talk about that subject today, 00:01:05.75\00:01:07.89 but you know, we always want to make sure 00:01:07.90\00:01:09.42 we start of the program with a word of prayer 00:01:09.43\00:01:11.82 and so Pastor Murray would we lead us into that. 00:01:11.83\00:01:14.01 Glad to do so. 00:01:14.02\00:01:15.23 Gracious Father, we do thank You 00:01:15.24\00:01:16.48 and praise You for this opportunity 00:01:16.49\00:01:18.04 to talk about our best friend Christ Jesus. Amen. 00:01:18.05\00:01:20.66 The one who we want to be both Lord, 00:01:20.67\00:01:23.55 and Savior of our lives. 00:01:23.56\00:01:25.47 For His only in being both of those things 00:01:25.48\00:01:27.79 that we can experience true 00:01:27.80\00:01:29.38 restoration and salvation, so bless us this day, 00:01:29.39\00:01:31.87 and those who hear that they might know 00:01:31.88\00:01:33.81 and understand your will for their lives 00:01:33.82\00:01:36.11 and that we may be use as instruments 00:01:36.12\00:01:37.92 to lift up the name of Jesus 00:01:37.93\00:01:39.42 and we thank you in Christ name, amen. Amen. 00:01:39.43\00:01:42.84 Well, you know, we involve you in our program 00:01:42.85\00:01:45.97 from week to week, 00:01:45.98\00:01:47.14 and you are very big part of that 00:01:47.15\00:01:48.85 in your questions. 00:01:48.86\00:01:50.40 And we want to make sure that we get to a couple questions 00:01:50.41\00:01:52.73 here today in the program. 00:01:52.74\00:01:54.28 Let me, let you know how you can send 00:01:54.29\00:01:55.82 those questions to us. 00:01:55.83\00:01:57.13 You can mail us a letter, we still accept letters. 00:01:57.14\00:01:59.84 You can call into the call centre, 00:01:59.85\00:02:01.46 they actually will take down your question, 00:02:01.47\00:02:02.97 forward that to our email address 00:02:02.98\00:02:05.56 for House Calls or you can email us directly 00:02:05.57\00:02:08.56 at housecalls@3abn.org that's housecalls@3abn.org. 00:02:08.57\00:02:13.70 Please send us your questions, they are very important, 00:02:13.71\00:02:15.66 we enjoy them very, very, much and I know that we've got 00:02:15.67\00:02:18.38 several good ones today. Yeah. 00:02:18.39\00:02:20.15 Pastor Murray, you want to start 00:02:20.16\00:02:21.22 this of with the question. 00:02:21.23\00:02:22.35 All right, this is a question that comes to us from Jamaica, 00:02:22.36\00:02:27.56 and they have a question on 00:02:27.57\00:02:29.98 Romans Chapter 14 verses 5 and 6, 00:02:29.99\00:02:32.97 asking that we explain that. 00:02:32.98\00:02:34.97 She says I am an Adventist, I was discussing the Sabbath 00:02:34.98\00:02:37.69 with one of my Catholic co-workers 00:02:37.70\00:02:39.93 and this text came up in as part of their discussion, 00:02:39.94\00:02:43.66 so she wants a little help 00:02:43.67\00:02:45.00 with Romans Chapter 14 verse 5 and 6. 00:02:45.01\00:02:48.22 And my Bible for some reason 00:02:48.23\00:02:51.48 is opened to the book of Matthew 00:02:51.49\00:02:52.78 so I am going over to Romans 00:02:52.79\00:02:55.70 as quick as I possibly can, Romans Chapter 14. 00:02:55.71\00:03:00.18 This is, you know, this text has been 00:03:00.19\00:03:01.81 used to say something that it doesn't say 00:03:01.82\00:03:03.90 for a long time-- Yeah, yeah. 00:03:03.91\00:03:05.30 So I think that's a good question-- 00:03:05.31\00:03:06.31 I remember years ago, someone sort of 00:03:06.32\00:03:08.31 dropped this text on me, we were having discussion. 00:03:08.32\00:03:10.37 But here its, Romans Chapter 14 verse 5, 00:03:10.38\00:03:13.04 "One man esteemeth one day above another, 00:03:13.05\00:03:16.10 another esteemeth every day alike. 00:03:16.11\00:03:18.39 Let every man be fully persuaded 00:03:18.40\00:03:20.16 in his own mind. 00:03:20.17\00:03:21.58 He that regardeth the day, regardeth it unto the Lord 00:03:21.59\00:03:24.47 and he that regardeth not the day 00:03:24.48\00:03:26.74 to the Lord he doth not regard it. 00:03:26.75\00:03:29.79 He that eateth, eateth to the Lord, 00:03:29.80\00:03:31.79 for he giveth thanks, and he that eateth 00:03:31.80\00:03:33.50 not, to the Lord he eateth not, and giveth God thanks." 00:03:33.51\00:03:38.13 This text is used to defend not keeping Sabbath. 00:03:38.14\00:03:44.39 They will say, well, that's your day, this is mine. 00:03:44.40\00:03:46.56 Bible says I regard one day, you regard another day. 00:03:46.57\00:03:50.65 It's all depends on what we want. 00:03:50.66\00:03:53.71 Well, there are couple of problems with that, 00:03:53.72\00:03:54.93 John, as you well know. 00:03:54.94\00:03:56.38 One, the Sabbath was not left to man to accept or reject. 00:03:56.39\00:04:03.23 The Sabbath is a commandment of God 00:04:03.24\00:04:05.22 as important as all the commandments of God. 00:04:05.23\00:04:08.48 So the question is not what you like or what I like. 00:04:08.49\00:04:12.36 The question is what does God like. 00:04:12.37\00:04:14.54 What has God set up apart? What does God sanctify? 00:04:14.55\00:04:18.32 What does God called us or joined us to keep? 00:04:18.33\00:04:21.65 When it comes to the rules, concepts, laws of God, 00:04:21.66\00:04:29.07 our thought on it, I'm gonna use it, 00:04:29.08\00:04:32.68 it sounds like very raw speech, 00:04:32.69\00:04:33.91 but really don't count, you know, they don't count. 00:04:33.92\00:04:37.10 God has said, remember this day, keep this day, 00:04:37.11\00:04:41.34 I've sanctified this day, I've blessed this day, 00:04:41.35\00:04:45.05 and I'm calling you to worship Me on that day, 00:04:45.06\00:04:48.35 and I promise a special blessing if you will do that. 00:04:48.36\00:04:51.55 It's not left up to our judgment, 00:04:51.56\00:04:53.69 just like adultery is not left up to our judgment, 00:04:53.70\00:04:58.09 fornication is not left up to our judgment, 00:04:58.10\00:05:00.40 adoring your parents is not left up to our judgment, 00:05:00.41\00:05:02.86 covetous is not left up to our judgment. 00:05:02.87\00:05:05.25 These things are things that are called to us by God. 00:05:05.26\00:05:09.85 This text is speaking about, 00:05:09.86\00:05:11.47 there were number practices in New Testament. 00:05:11.48\00:05:13.67 Some people would fast on particular days. 00:05:13.68\00:05:15.80 Some people would keep from doing 00:05:15.81\00:05:17.37 certain things on those days, others would not, 00:05:17.38\00:05:20.65 would not accept those days. 00:05:20.66\00:05:21.71 That was something that, let say, 00:05:21.72\00:05:23.75 John, I am saying next Thursday, 00:05:23.76\00:05:25.21 I just feel call of God to fast. 00:05:25.22\00:05:27.78 Well, that's my day. 00:05:27.79\00:05:28.80 Now that doesn't mean, you have to fast, 00:05:28.81\00:05:31.10 that's a day that I've picked for fast. 00:05:31.11\00:05:33.33 I am regarding that particular day 00:05:33.34\00:05:34.68 that is not a prescription for you, 00:05:34.69\00:05:36.70 that's something I've worked out with my God. Yeah. 00:05:36.71\00:05:39.52 You may pick, okay, I will do it next Saturday, 00:05:39.53\00:05:41.44 that's your day, that's the day you're gonna regard. 00:05:41.45\00:05:43.74 Those are days that are left up to our choosing, 00:05:43.75\00:05:46.57 but the day that God has called holy 00:05:46.58\00:05:48.76 is not left up to our choosing. 00:05:48.77\00:05:50.43 That has been designated by God. 00:05:50.44\00:05:52.41 And so this is not talking about the Sabbath. Right. 00:05:52.42\00:05:55.03 This is talking about other kinds of religious obligations 00:05:55.04\00:05:57.78 and institutions set up by man 00:05:57.79\00:05:59.84 for their own spiritual strength and walk with God. 00:05:59.85\00:06:03.25 Yeah, you know, and the Sabbath 00:06:03.26\00:06:04.57 doesn't even appear once in here. No. 00:06:04.58\00:06:06.32 So we can note that. No. 00:06:06.33\00:06:07.34 There is no word, Sabbath, isn't even here. 00:06:07.35\00:06:09.94 The other thing, I like what you said there 00:06:09.95\00:06:11.47 about the commandments, our opinion doesn't really matter 00:06:11.48\00:06:14.57 when it comes to the commandments. 00:06:14.58\00:06:15.72 Our opinion is--our opinion is we follow the Lord 00:06:15.73\00:06:19.62 in what He says. Yes. 00:06:19.63\00:06:21.82 And it's interesting at the beginning 00:06:21.83\00:06:23.40 of this whole passage 'cause you got a back up 00:06:23.41\00:06:25.03 to kind of find the context, it says in verse 1, 00:06:25.04\00:06:28.27 "Receive one who is weak in the faith, 00:06:28.28\00:06:30.33 but not to disputes over doubtful things." 00:06:30.34\00:06:33.84 And I think when it comes to eating, 00:06:33.85\00:06:36.23 that something that's a matter of conscience, 00:06:36.24\00:06:38.52 but when it comes to the commandments, 00:06:38.53\00:06:40.07 those aren't doubtful things, 00:06:40.08\00:06:41.54 those are commands, yes, those are suggestions. 00:06:41.55\00:06:44.70 And so I think it falls in line 00:06:44.71\00:06:47.99 that as we consider what God would have us do in life. 00:06:48.00\00:06:51.63 He would lead us and guide us. 00:06:51.64\00:06:53.41 The commandments is where we start. Precisely. 00:06:53.42\00:06:55.38 And that's why Jesus kept saying, 00:06:55.39\00:06:56.86 "Keep My commandments if you love Me" 00:06:56.87\00:06:59.53 and so that's where we begin. 00:06:59.54\00:07:01.07 And another interesting thing is He says that 00:07:01.08\00:07:03.01 it's His day, not ours. Not ours, yes. 00:07:03.02\00:07:05.46 We've heard this over and over again. 00:07:05.47\00:07:06.65 I have, I observe Wednesday or I observe Friday 00:07:06.66\00:07:12.48 as our Muslim friends do. 00:07:12.49\00:07:14.20 I observe Sunday as many of our Christians friends do. 00:07:14.21\00:07:17.43 But it's not the day that we pick, 00:07:17.44\00:07:19.74 it's really about what the Lord picks. 00:07:19.75\00:07:21.90 He picked after creation the seventh-day. 00:07:21.91\00:07:24.68 Yeah, yeah, very powerful. 00:07:24.69\00:07:26.36 And then--and we will come to this 00:07:26.37\00:07:28.15 in another questions later. 00:07:28.16\00:07:29.46 We always have to remember, 00:07:29.47\00:07:30.71 John, as you well know context. 00:07:30.72\00:07:32.97 You can't just rip a text out of its context 00:07:32.98\00:07:35.64 and then try to make up location. 00:07:35.65\00:07:37.28 You've got it, there is always a context, 00:07:37.29\00:07:39.14 where is he going with this. 00:07:39.15\00:07:40.60 You know, where he is coming from, 00:07:40.61\00:07:42.41 coming and going. 00:07:42.42\00:07:43.83 Where he is coming, where he is going 00:07:43.84\00:07:45.23 with this particular thing, and of course, Sabbath, 00:07:45.24\00:07:47.18 as a day is, is not mentioned here. 00:07:47.19\00:07:49.92 So we are not dealing with the Sabbath discussion. 00:07:49.93\00:07:52.02 We are dealing with as we said, 00:07:52.03\00:07:54.40 ancillary things, auxiliary things, 00:07:54.41\00:07:56.68 doubtful things that could be a matter of opinion. 00:07:56.69\00:07:59.80 Sabbath as we've said 00:07:59.81\00:08:01.39 so clearly is not a matter of opinion. 00:08:01.40\00:08:03.46 That is something that comes down from God 00:08:03.47\00:08:05.58 for man's benefit, yeah, yeah. 00:08:05.59\00:08:07.25 You know what's interesting, 00:08:07.26\00:08:08.23 it just hit me and I will just, 00:08:08.24\00:08:09.21 I will say this 'cause this could go with any subject 00:08:09.22\00:08:11.39 that people study in the word of God. 00:08:11.40\00:08:14.11 God's word came to us not by accident. 00:08:14.12\00:08:17.74 It's not one book, it's made up of 66 books 00:08:17.75\00:08:20.22 by many different authors and it was put together, 00:08:20.23\00:08:23.02 I believe with very lot of attention to deep study 00:08:23.03\00:08:28.73 and to God's leading in which books 00:08:28.74\00:08:31.84 made up the canon of scripture. Yes. 00:08:31.85\00:08:34.25 And if a book that they read, and there are many books 00:08:34.26\00:08:36.34 that did not make the canon of scripture. 00:08:36.35\00:08:38.79 If there are any books, it seem to be out of harmony 00:08:38.80\00:08:41.93 with the teachings of the broad scope 00:08:41.94\00:08:44.86 of teachings of the church, 00:08:44.87\00:08:46.62 of Paul's writings, of the Apostles, 00:08:46.63\00:08:48.98 it was not included. Precisely. 00:08:48.99\00:08:51.39 Why don't we do that with any topic 00:08:51.40\00:08:55.72 'cause if you take and I am answering the question 00:08:55.73\00:08:58.49 about taking something out of context. 00:08:58.50\00:08:59.86 If you take a verse out of context 00:08:59.87\00:09:02.63 and you make up your mind about what it saying. 00:09:02.64\00:09:05.55 But then that verse if you make up, 00:09:05.56\00:09:07.42 if you conclude that is out of harmony 00:09:07.43\00:09:09.89 with any of the rest of the word. Yeah. 00:09:09.90\00:09:12.06 You must then denounce so to speak that position, 00:09:12.07\00:09:16.47 because it doesn't fit with scripture. 00:09:16.48\00:09:19.13 So if God was so careful in putting together 00:09:19.14\00:09:21.46 the canon of scripture. 00:09:21.47\00:09:23.08 Why aren't we more careful in putting together 00:09:23.09\00:09:25.87 the truth of God's word to make sure it 00:09:25.88\00:09:28.81 harmonizes with all the scripture, 00:09:28.82\00:09:31.14 and we know, we can pick any subject 00:09:31.15\00:09:32.68 and talk about, anyone of them 00:09:32.69\00:09:35.04 where of course--Prophet Isaiah says, 00:09:35.05\00:09:37.74 "Here a little, there a little, 00:09:37.75\00:09:38.80 line upon line, precept upon precept." 00:09:38.81\00:09:41.10 You know very carefully 00:09:41.11\00:09:43.28 gaining knowledge from the word 00:09:43.29\00:09:45.04 and that is the method of Bible study. 00:09:45.05\00:09:47.72 Yeah, yeah! You know it is so easy 00:09:47.73\00:09:49.98 to rip things out of context as this program being taped, 00:09:49.99\00:09:52.46 the Olympics are on. 00:09:52.47\00:09:53.62 And my wife and I was sitting watching other night, 00:09:53.63\00:09:55.17 I'll say, you know, it really be cool 00:09:55.18\00:09:56.75 to be wearing those speed skates. 00:09:56.76\00:09:58.61 Now I can claim Philippians say, 00:09:58.62\00:10:01.55 I can do all things through Christ. 00:10:01.56\00:10:03.21 Well, I can be a ski free skate, 00:10:03.22\00:10:05.14 I don't think so. It's not going to fly. 00:10:05.15\00:10:08.25 I am trying to get the image 00:10:08.26\00:10:09.64 of C.A. going around on speed skate. 00:10:09.65\00:10:12.41 Let me add a little, little tight pant, that uniform. 00:10:12.42\00:10:14.77 It's not going to fly, it just not. 00:10:14.78\00:10:16.35 You know so there is a context for that, 00:10:16.36\00:10:19.10 you know, He is talking about sacrificial things, 00:10:19.11\00:10:20.58 things that pertain unto salvation. 00:10:20.59\00:10:22.61 Not just anything you want that comes to your mind. 00:10:22.62\00:10:24.87 So we--you know I don't say, 00:10:24.88\00:10:26.21 there are five questions, John, 00:10:26.22\00:10:27.75 before you make application of text as who said it, 00:10:27.76\00:10:31.20 what did it say, what did it mean. 00:10:31.21\00:10:33.84 Let, I give you to make a statement like 00:10:33.85\00:10:35.56 that guys out to lunch, well, is he either gone 00:10:35.57\00:10:39.02 from his desk at lunch or he is kind of office rocker 00:10:39.03\00:10:41.97 which is another, you know, so what did it say, 00:10:41.98\00:10:44.44 but also what did it mean. 00:10:44.45\00:10:45.96 Then what did those who hear him, 00:10:45.97\00:10:49.59 what did they interpret from it. 00:10:49.60\00:10:51.01 Then you can make application, 00:10:51.02\00:10:52.33 and you've got always ask at least those five questions 00:10:52.34\00:10:54.51 before you can say this is what the text means 00:10:54.52\00:10:56.83 or this is how I apply it. 00:10:56.84\00:10:58.99 So this does not mean Sabbath, 00:10:59.00\00:11:01.06 it means something else 00:11:01.07\00:11:02.58 and should not be applied to Sabbath, 00:11:02.59\00:11:03.97 because Sabbath was not the intended 00:11:03.98\00:11:05.36 burden of this particular text, yeah. 00:11:05.37\00:11:06.75 Yeah, very good. Thank you, thank you. 00:11:06.76\00:11:09.53 Here is a questions, I'm gonna read 00:11:09.54\00:11:10.66 actually a couple of them 00:11:10.67\00:11:11.64 'cause they kind of go together, 00:11:11.65\00:11:13.47 and we can go back and forth here a little bit 00:11:13.48\00:11:15.12 on this 'cause this is a question 00:11:15.13\00:11:16.79 that has been asked before, 00:11:16.80\00:11:17.77 but it's been sometimes since we've answered it. 00:11:17.78\00:11:21.05 This question comes from Denise. 00:11:21.06\00:11:23.03 Thank you, Denise. 00:11:23.04\00:11:24.42 She says, I understand that 00:11:24.43\00:11:25.40 there are three different views 00:11:25.41\00:11:26.46 regarding the second coming of our Lord. 00:11:26.47\00:11:29.14 First, I understand the time was shortened 00:11:29.15\00:11:30.80 to five months and because of the elect say, 00:11:30.81\00:11:35.01 to save them Matthew 24 expresses that, 00:11:35.02\00:11:37.89 you know, the shortening of the end of time. 00:11:37.90\00:11:41.92 And there is, of course, people who literally interpret 00:11:41.93\00:11:44.13 five months prophetically to try and arrive it 00:11:44.14\00:11:46.75 at what time that would be. 00:11:46.76\00:11:48.70 Second, some churches explain 00:11:48.71\00:11:50.46 as this end time period as seven years. 00:11:50.47\00:11:54.35 Three and half for the system, 00:11:54.36\00:11:57.24 the false system to be set up three and half years 00:11:57.25\00:11:59.48 for the ruler ship of the antichrist. 00:11:59.49\00:12:02.15 Third is the belief that three and half years was 00:12:02.16\00:12:07.10 Christ prophetic time, three and half days, 00:12:07.11\00:12:11.48 prophetic time three and half years 00:12:11.49\00:12:12.54 with this time that Christ ruled on 00:12:12.55\00:12:15.08 or came down in His first advent 00:12:15.09\00:12:16.59 to teach His disciples and to save the world 00:12:16.60\00:12:19.44 and then, of course, the last three and half years 00:12:19.45\00:12:21.78 being, you know, post-cross and that working out 234 A.D. 00:12:21.79\00:12:28.51 which you've heard teachers express, 00:12:28.52\00:12:30.77 preachers here on 3ABN for a quite sometime, 00:12:30.78\00:12:33.76 and so they apply that to Christ for its advent, 00:12:33.77\00:12:36.09 not the end of time. 00:12:36.10\00:12:37.35 And she is saying that, you know, 00:12:37.36\00:12:38.33 all these different views, you know, what is it. 00:12:38.34\00:12:41.69 And then here is a second question 00:12:41.70\00:12:43.00 that comes in from someone else. 00:12:43.01\00:12:44.75 Does a rapture take place pre-trib or post-trib? 00:12:44.76\00:12:48.79 So I'll throw that in there too, 00:12:48.80\00:12:50.15 because what that means is pre-tribulation, 00:12:50.16\00:12:52.24 just Christ come before the tribulation 00:12:52.25\00:12:54.32 to take His church or does He come 00:12:54.33\00:12:56.62 after the tribulation, is that an appearing of Christ, 00:12:56.63\00:12:59.57 the second time to then take us home to live with Him 00:12:59.58\00:13:03.38 for the thousand year period. 00:13:03.39\00:13:05.39 And so let's talk a little bit about this 00:13:05.40\00:13:07.45 because it seems to be, there seems to be 00:13:07.46\00:13:08.99 a lot of confusions about this, you know. 00:13:09.00\00:13:11.22 The first thing he mentioned is this 00:13:11.23\00:13:12.43 three and half year period 00:13:12.44\00:13:13.55 if you turn to Daniel Chapter 9. 00:13:13.56\00:13:21.08 You're gonna find the passage 00:13:21.09\00:13:22.38 that is used here to express this three and half year 00:13:22.39\00:13:31.20 or actually a seven year last week of prophecy. 00:13:31.21\00:13:36.46 Let's see here. 00:13:36.47\00:13:44.05 Well, I make sure I get out of 7 and get over to 00:13:44.06\00:13:46.87 I am supposed to be. Here we go. 00:13:46.88\00:13:49.80 Okay, it says in verse 23 of Daniel 9, 00:13:49.81\00:13:55.27 "I have come to tell you." 00:13:55.28\00:13:56.46 This is the angels speaking to Daniel, 00:13:56.47\00:13:58.92 "For you are greatly beloved, 00:13:58.93\00:14:00.33 therefore consider the matter, 00:14:00.34\00:14:01.72 and understand the vision." 00:14:01.73\00:14:02.86 And this is the vision of the 2300 days 00:14:02.87\00:14:05.15 that was previously given to Daniel 00:14:05.16\00:14:07.76 in Chapter 8 verses 13 and 14. 00:14:07.77\00:14:11.11 And then we have--it seems like another time prophecy 00:14:11.12\00:14:14.61 that goes on from here which is known 00:14:14.62\00:14:16.72 as the seventy-week prophecy. 00:14:16.73\00:14:18.81 Seventy-weeks is seventy time seven 490 years 00:14:18.82\00:14:21.87 in prophetic time. 00:14:21.88\00:14:24.30 And he talks about how that prophetic time goes on here 00:14:24.31\00:14:27.02 and it seems to clearly pertain to, 00:14:27.03\00:14:28.81 if you look in verse 24. 00:14:28.82\00:14:31.00 "It pertains to Daniel's people 00:14:31.01\00:14:32.86 who are the Jews" Correct. 00:14:32.87\00:14:35.46 And so this is the time that they have to 00:14:35.47\00:14:39.47 that are set aside determined, it says, 00:14:39.48\00:14:42.41 "That are to finish transgression 00:14:42.42\00:14:44.44 making end of sins, reconciliation for iniquity, 00:14:44.45\00:14:47.05 bring in everlasting righteousness, 00:14:47.06\00:14:48.61 seal up the vision and prophecy, 00:14:48.62\00:14:50.28 anoint the Most Holy." 00:14:50.29\00:14:52.04 We can't miss those words, we can't pass those quickly. 00:14:52.05\00:14:55.29 Anoint Him the Most Holy is 00:14:55.30\00:14:57.61 anointing Jesus Christ for His work. 00:14:57.62\00:15:01.05 And then he says that this time period in verse 25, 00:15:01.06\00:15:03.61 "Begins at the command to restore 00:15:03.62\00:15:05.86 and build Jerusalem until, Messiah the Prince, 00:15:05.87\00:15:09.66 takes up the largest portion of this time 00:15:09.67\00:15:11.58 which is seven weeks and sixty two weeks 00:15:11.59\00:15:14.61 which totaled sixty-nine. Right. 00:15:14.62\00:15:16.78 Now, we're not gonna spend all our time 00:15:16.79\00:15:18.53 going in every detail of this 00:15:18.54\00:15:19.80 but I just want to give you 00:15:19.81\00:15:20.78 general recap of this teaching. 00:15:20.79\00:15:24.83 And so from the time of this command, 00:15:24.84\00:15:26.82 restore and rebuilt Jerusalem 00:15:26.83\00:15:29.05 which indicated in Ezra Chapter 6 and 7. 00:15:29.06\00:15:33.59 It indicates Artaxerxes has been 00:15:33.60\00:15:36.12 involved in that commands. 00:15:36.13\00:15:37.44 So you must take his commands 457 B.C. 00:15:37.45\00:15:41.18 Count forward then to this time which means 00:15:41.19\00:15:44.33 the Messiah would need to arrive on the scene 00:15:44.34\00:15:47.90 at the year A.D. 27. 00:15:47.91\00:15:51.59 And we know clearly from other scriptures 00:15:51.60\00:15:53.70 that he, in fact does, Luke 3 tells us 00:15:53.71\00:15:56.63 in the--I believe is the fifteen year, 00:15:56.64\00:16:00.25 I don't want to misquote, so look at it really fast. 00:16:00.26\00:16:03.44 Luke Chapter 3, "Fifteenth year 00:16:03.45\00:16:10.59 of the of the reign of Tiberius Caesar" 00:16:10.60\00:16:12.55 If you read on, it says, "Jesus was Baptized 00:16:12.56\00:16:15.00 or anointed for His work, 00:16:15.01\00:16:16.67 precisely, by the Holy Spirit." 00:16:16.68\00:16:18.23 And if you take a look at Tiberius Caesar reign, 00:16:18.24\00:16:21.16 although he took over sole supremacy in 14 A.D. 00:16:21.17\00:16:25.61 He actually co-ruled with his brother in 12 A.D. Correct. 00:16:25.62\00:16:28.55 So you can forward 15 years, 27 A.D. 00:16:28.56\00:16:31.62 fits perfectly right on time, 00:16:31.63\00:16:33.53 Jesus came 483 years out of the 490 00:16:33.54\00:16:37.90 right after it was to begin. 00:16:37.91\00:16:39.55 Now I said, a lot there, so you have to rewind the tape 00:16:39.56\00:16:41.67 if you are taping. 00:16:41.68\00:16:43.98 And so much of that is, is accepted. 00:16:43.99\00:16:47.34 When we go, we pick up verse 26 in Daniel 9. 00:16:47.35\00:16:50.50 You've got threescore and two weeks 00:16:50.51\00:16:52.83 and then you've got seven so. 00:16:52.84\00:16:55.87 The sixty-nine weeks is pretty much 00:16:55.88\00:16:58.20 universally accepted. 00:16:58.21\00:16:59.28 It's the last week 00:16:59.29\00:17:00.40 where we run into problems. There you go. 00:17:00.41\00:17:01.94 Where there is sort of division. 00:17:01.95\00:17:03.74 And I think that's where, 00:17:03.75\00:17:06.48 her question actually is coming from. Right. 00:17:06.49\00:17:08.64 What do we do with that last seven days. 00:17:08.65\00:17:12.94 How do we adjust the appose and the problem is 00:17:12.95\00:17:15.46 that there are some theologians 00:17:15.47\00:17:18.10 and they are into manordect I dare say, 00:17:18.11\00:17:20.67 who take that seven days 00:17:20.68\00:17:22.17 and remove it that seven days, 00:17:22.18\00:17:24.53 at last we can remove it from the others 00:17:24.54\00:17:27.99 and bring it way down to the end of time, 00:17:28.00\00:17:30.13 and that's where we have the problem. 00:17:30.14\00:17:32.98 Rather than putting in as part of the seventy weeks, 00:17:32.99\00:17:35.92 somehow they yank that out of context 00:17:35.93\00:17:38.65 and toss it way down to the end of time 00:17:38.66\00:17:41.15 and it confuses people, 00:17:41.16\00:17:42.86 because it doesn't really fit there, 00:17:42.87\00:17:44.26 it's part of the seventy-week period. 00:17:44.27\00:17:45.84 Right, and its decree so-called 00:17:45.85\00:17:48.42 a Gap Theory. A Gap Theory. 00:17:48.43\00:17:49.82 You know, they take the time at 483 years, 00:17:49.83\00:17:54.26 cut it off, take that last seven 00:17:54.27\00:17:55.70 and put it at the end of time. Right. 00:17:55.71\00:17:57.65 And they apply it to, not Jesus Christ, 00:17:57.66\00:18:00.47 but they apply it to the antichrist. 00:18:00.48\00:18:03.25 Yes, yeah, yeah. 00:18:03.26\00:18:04.80 Now, I will say that there is an enemy 00:18:04.81\00:18:07.06 that is mentioned here in this passage, 00:18:07.07\00:18:10.09 but here we talked about this here 00:18:10.10\00:18:11.64 a few minutes ago, Pastor Murray. 00:18:11.65\00:18:14.33 Context, context, context. Oh, yes. 00:18:14.34\00:18:16.88 This is a Messianic prophecy. 00:18:16.89\00:18:20.39 It is the prophecy of the Messiah. 00:18:20.40\00:18:22.77 He is appearing on the scene and His work, 00:18:22.78\00:18:25.40 what He is doing, what He is establishing 00:18:25.41\00:18:28.03 as part of His kingdom, the beginning of His taking 00:18:28.04\00:18:32.37 back of His kingdom until He come, 00:18:32.38\00:18:34.93 comes and gets the saint of that time-- 00:18:34.94\00:18:36.12 And that's crucial, John, 00:18:36.13\00:18:37.52 to the understanding of this prophecy, 00:18:37.53\00:18:40.42 this passage, it's about the Messiah. Yes. 00:18:40.43\00:18:43.60 Not about Satan, not about the antichrist, 00:18:43.61\00:18:46.25 not about end time, but the inauguration 00:18:46.26\00:18:49.46 of his Messiahship and the work 00:18:49.47\00:18:51.39 that was going to be spread 00:18:51.40\00:18:52.37 from the Jewish community to the world. 00:18:52.38\00:18:53.92 And pastor, as you well know that, 00:18:53.93\00:18:55.54 that understanding is crucial to work in your way 00:18:55.55\00:18:58.01 through this particular prophecy. 00:18:58.02\00:18:59.30 Absolutely. Yeah. 00:18:59.31\00:19:00.28 So let's look at a couple things here. 00:19:00.29\00:19:01.76 If you look at verse 26, you've already mentioned 00:19:01.77\00:19:04.29 about the sixty-two weeks after though sixty-two weeks 00:19:04.30\00:19:07.86 that's seven plus sixty-two by the way. 00:19:07.87\00:19:10.07 So this is in the-we are now in the 483rd year 00:19:10.08\00:19:12.88 after that it says, 00:19:12.89\00:19:15.30 "The Messiah shall be cut off, but not for Himself." 00:19:15.31\00:19:19.48 So here we are already in the last week 00:19:19.49\00:19:22.40 and who is he talking about? Messiah still. 00:19:22.41\00:19:24.12 The Messiah being cut off, 00:19:24.13\00:19:25.63 not about antichrist, but the Messiah. 00:19:25.64\00:19:27.46 So we got to be staying with this Messiah 00:19:27.47\00:19:30.99 mindset here as we go through this. 00:19:31.00\00:19:33.74 "And the people of the prince who is to come 00:19:33.75\00:19:36.92 shall destroy the city and the sanctuary. 00:19:36.93\00:19:39.49 The end of it shall be with a flood, 00:19:39.50\00:19:41.39 until the end of the war desolations are determined." 00:19:41.40\00:19:44.83 So it indicates here that as the Messiah is cut off, 00:19:44.84\00:19:48.01 there is also going to be some kind of judgment 00:19:48.02\00:19:50.65 from this prince that comes to destroy the city 00:19:50.66\00:19:52.90 and destroy the sanctuary. 00:19:52.91\00:19:53.93 Well, we know that happened in history, 00:19:53.94\00:19:56.53 back very much in this time. 00:19:56.54\00:19:59.81 Going on verse 27, "Then he shall confirm a covenant 00:19:59.82\00:20:04.17 with many for one week" 00:20:04.18\00:20:06.45 Now there is the big word with only two letters. 00:20:06.46\00:20:11.67 Who is he? Who is he? 00:20:11.68\00:20:13.84 Who is she? 00:20:13.85\00:20:16.22 And this is where the diversions occurs, 00:20:16.23\00:20:20.09 precisely, between various teachers of this prophecy. 00:20:20.10\00:20:25.06 And as we've already said, praise the Lord, 00:20:25.07\00:20:27.03 hopefully we are looking at the minority of them, 00:20:27.04\00:20:28.84 but it is growing that he applies to the antichrist, 00:20:28.85\00:20:33.06 but here remember, who is this prophecy about? 00:20:33.07\00:20:35.54 It's a prophecy about the Messiah, 00:20:35.55\00:20:37.31 the anointed one. 00:20:37.32\00:20:38.31 The he there should be capitalized, 00:20:38.32\00:20:41.38 because it pertains to Messiah. 00:20:41.39\00:20:43.41 "He shall confirm a covenant with many for one week. 00:20:43.42\00:20:47.64 But in the middle of the week He shall bring 00:20:47.65\00:20:49.21 an end to sacrifice and offering. 00:20:49.22\00:20:50.62 And on the wing of abominations 00:20:50.63\00:20:51.93 shall be one who makes desolate, 00:20:51.94\00:20:54.45 Even until the consummation, which is determined, 00:20:54.46\00:20:56.64 is poured out on the desolate." 00:20:56.65\00:20:58.65 So there is an enemy that's opposing his work here 00:20:58.66\00:21:01.79 to confirm the covenant. 00:21:01.80\00:21:04.33 Who would be the enemy 00:21:04.34\00:21:05.37 that would oppose the work of Christ 00:21:05.38\00:21:06.83 to confirm the covenant 00:21:06.84\00:21:08.13 that He promised to Abraham way back when 00:21:08.14\00:21:11.28 who would be the enemy? 00:21:11.29\00:21:12.76 None other, but Satan himself and his army, 00:21:12.77\00:21:16.71 whoever he chooses to do his work. Yeah. 00:21:16.72\00:21:19.39 And so, and the other thing here too, 00:21:19.40\00:21:22.14 who will bring an end to sacrifice and offering. 00:21:22.15\00:21:25.19 You know, it's funny, how we--the Bible puts 00:21:25.20\00:21:30.55 so many he's, you've got to kind of 00:21:30.56\00:21:32.21 keep your he straight, so reckon you went through this. 00:21:32.22\00:21:34.90 But up into this point he is talking about Jesus 00:21:34.91\00:21:37.06 that confirm the covenant talking about Jesus. 00:21:37.07\00:21:40.83 Causing and sacrifices simply is an illusion 00:21:40.84\00:21:44.17 to the death of Christ which once that happen, 00:21:44.18\00:21:47.81 the daily sacrificial system was not effect anymore. 00:21:47.82\00:21:51.28 It wasn't any good. 00:21:51.29\00:21:52.76 Once Christ made that ultimate sacrifice 00:21:52.77\00:21:54.76 which is the burden of the Book of Hebrews 00:21:54.77\00:21:57.44 almost totally, at least of the first third 00:21:57.45\00:21:59.68 that we have a better sacrifice. 00:21:59.69\00:22:01.80 We have a truer sacrifice, a more complete sacrifice 00:22:01.81\00:22:04.80 when Christ gave His life for us. 00:22:04.81\00:22:07.27 The sacrificial system came to its end. 00:22:07.28\00:22:09.72 Now who would oppose that, of course, 00:22:09.73\00:22:10.99 that would be the enemy, that would be the Satan. 00:22:11.00\00:22:13.32 But it's work in your way through the he's, 00:22:13.33\00:22:16.70 you know, that sort of keeps you on track with this thing. 00:22:16.71\00:22:18.72 Yeah, very much so. 00:22:18.73\00:22:20.55 And so He brings, it says, 00:22:20.56\00:22:22.97 this end to sacrifice and offering, 00:22:22.98\00:22:25.33 and some now would say, okay, 00:22:25.34\00:22:26.61 this is the antichrist which they believe it is. 00:22:26.62\00:22:29.01 This is the antichrist somehow in the Middle East 00:22:29.02\00:22:32.89 or even in the holy land ceasing or putting at end 00:22:32.90\00:22:36.81 to any sacrifices that are being made there, 00:22:36.82\00:22:38.86 so they believe, okay. 00:22:38.87\00:22:39.84 Then at some point here the Jewish system 00:22:39.85\00:22:41.87 is going to reinitiate or is going to initiate 00:22:41.88\00:22:44.75 it's sacrificial system again. 00:22:44.76\00:22:46.70 And the antichrist will oppose that 00:22:46.71\00:22:48.35 bring and end to it. 00:22:48.36\00:22:49.64 That's not what it is saying. Not at all. 00:22:49.65\00:22:52.09 The symbol there that we find, it's not a symbol, 00:22:52.10\00:22:54.69 it's a literal act how God tore in the-through the veil, 00:22:54.70\00:23:01.75 between the most holy and the holy place. 00:23:01.76\00:23:04.45 He tore it from not bottom to top, 00:23:04.46\00:23:06.48 but top to bottom showing that, 00:23:06.49\00:23:09.15 that sacrificial system had ended. 00:23:09.16\00:23:11.99 And from what we understand here, 00:23:12.00\00:23:13.90 I know, it doesn't say so much from scripture, 00:23:13.91\00:23:16.15 but legend tells us that the lamb got away. 00:23:16.16\00:23:20.51 Because that lamb could no longer be sacrifice here 00:23:20.52\00:23:23.04 because Christ was the lamb being sacrificed. 00:23:23.05\00:23:26.01 And so this is what this prophecy is talking about 00:23:26.02\00:23:28.74 and so be careful I would say with anybody 00:23:28.75\00:23:30.66 that takes the seven years pertaining to Christ 00:23:30.67\00:23:33.69 and puts them at the end of time 00:23:33.70\00:23:35.65 pertaining to the antichrist, 00:23:35.66\00:23:36.96 because what in effect they are doing pastor is, 00:23:36.97\00:23:39.99 they are substituting Christ for the antichrist. 00:23:40.00\00:23:46.15 They are fulfilling what the antichrist 00:23:46.16\00:23:48.03 wants to do anyway. 00:23:48.04\00:23:49.14 He wants to assume the work of Christ. 00:23:49.15\00:23:51.41 They are helping him do it 00:23:51.42\00:23:52.88 by saying this pertains to 00:23:52.89\00:23:54.93 not Christ but the antichrist 00:23:54.94\00:23:56.15 Yeah, when you lead in your very first scripture, 00:23:56.16\00:24:00.54 seventy-weeks are determined. 00:24:00.55\00:24:01.90 We are talking about a block of time 00:24:01.91\00:24:04.26 that is not to be segmented and sort of moved around 00:24:04.27\00:24:07.17 like chess pieces on the board. 00:24:07.18\00:24:08.65 You're dealing with a block of time 00:24:08.66\00:24:10.26 and all of this is going to take place 00:24:10.27\00:24:11.82 within this block of time. 00:24:11.83\00:24:13.31 It's just showing you the difference segments 00:24:13.32\00:24:15.23 of the block of time but it's a package, 00:24:15.24\00:24:17.72 it's a package deal. 00:24:17.73\00:24:18.93 So that when you get to verse 27, 00:24:18.94\00:24:21.08 it all is part of what starts off in verse 24. Yeah, yeah. 00:24:21.09\00:24:24.74 And here is another way we know that this cannot be 00:24:24.75\00:24:26.88 taken from--the seven years can't be taken from there 00:24:26.89\00:24:29.97 and put at the end of time. 00:24:29.98\00:24:30.97 Here is the way we know, because this 490 year period 00:24:30.98\00:24:33.92 is part of the 2300 days or years of prophecy. Yes, yes. 00:24:33.93\00:24:38.80 It's the beginning of it marks the larger time 00:24:38.81\00:24:41.49 period of 2300 years and if you--so that means 00:24:41.50\00:24:45.55 the 490 has to encompass or be encompass within the 2300. 00:24:45.56\00:24:50.39 Right, you can't take in tack around to back end. 00:24:50.40\00:24:52.20 And if you tack it on the end 00:24:52.21\00:24:53.22 you just completely obliterated 00:24:53.23\00:24:55.07 proper hermeneutics per say, prophetic hermeneutics here. 00:24:55.08\00:24:58.37 Very true. And it just does not work. 00:24:58.38\00:25:00.09 So now to answer the question that was asked 00:25:00.10\00:25:03.92 and we got there over the long way, didn't we? 00:25:03.93\00:25:06.53 To answer this question, is there three and half years, 00:25:06.54\00:25:10.46 and three and half years at the end of time 00:25:10.47\00:25:11.91 we have to say no. No. 00:25:11.92\00:25:13.52 There clearly is no seven year period of tribulation, 00:25:13.53\00:25:16.97 three and half years the start of the antichrist, 00:25:16.98\00:25:19.29 then manifesting himself 00:25:19.30\00:25:20.45 in three and half years of tyranny per say. 00:25:20.46\00:25:23.85 What we have to say here is that the scripture 00:25:23.86\00:25:25.89 seems very clear that Christ comes, 00:25:25.90\00:25:27.88 Jesus comes visibly, audibly, 00:25:27.89\00:25:31.58 every one will know it and He will take His church 00:25:31.59\00:25:35.24 at that point and the resurrected saints 00:25:35.25\00:25:37.14 and living saints at the same time 00:25:37.15\00:25:39.43 to His heavenly kingdom to live and reign with Him 00:25:39.44\00:25:41.75 for a thousand years, Revelation Chapter 20. Yeah. 00:25:41.76\00:25:44.70 And there is before that time, a tribulation. 00:25:44.71\00:25:49.45 So one answer to one of the question is, 00:25:49.46\00:25:52.67 Christ, the rapture of the church. 00:25:52.68\00:25:54.77 And I use rapture not in the secret rapture term. 00:25:54.78\00:25:57.08 I see rapture in the catching up of the saints, yes, 00:25:57.09\00:25:59.51 to meet the Lord in the air occurs 00:25:59.52\00:26:01.97 after the tribulation, it's post-tribulation, not pre. 00:26:01.98\00:26:05.85 There is no evidence of pre-tribulation 00:26:05.86\00:26:07.42 that I can find, although that many of that espouses 00:26:07.43\00:26:10.55 other thing we were just talking about do. 00:26:10.56\00:26:13.90 But it's post-tribulation, 00:26:13.91\00:26:15.81 the church will go through that period of time, 00:26:15.82\00:26:18.06 and the Christ will deliver His church. 00:26:18.07\00:26:19.74 And I don't think there is any evidence, 00:26:19.75\00:26:21.46 pastor, that throughout scripture 00:26:21.47\00:26:23.66 that the church doesn't experience hard times 00:26:23.67\00:26:25.85 at the end. No, no, no. 00:26:25.86\00:26:28.01 You know, Daniel as a prophetic book 00:26:28.02\00:26:30.29 is-prophecy take some work, but it's not that tough 00:26:30.33\00:26:35.63 if you allow the Bible to explain itself. 00:26:35.64\00:26:39.45 If you allow the Bible to open itself for you 00:26:39.46\00:26:44.28 and not make assumptions. 00:26:44.29\00:26:45.66 When you sort of put in these kinds of things, 00:26:45.67\00:26:47.78 that's why this person is confused, 00:26:47.79\00:26:49.14 because they have been listening to some theology 00:26:49.15\00:26:51.14 that has really twisted this particular text. 00:26:51.15\00:26:54.44 But if you follow step after step, 00:26:54.45\00:26:56.47 you will find particularly the Book of Daniel. 00:26:56.48\00:26:58.39 Revelation is more of a challenge, yeah, 00:26:58.40\00:27:00.35 but Daniel will explain himself very logically 00:27:00.36\00:27:04.13 and very sequentially. 00:27:04.14\00:27:06.26 It becomes non-secular when you take things 00:27:06.27\00:27:08.90 and move things around and sort of twist things up. 00:27:08.91\00:27:11.06 But if you follow the Bible 00:27:11.07\00:27:12.18 as it's opening itself to you, 00:27:12.19\00:27:13.80 you will find that Daniel particularly 00:27:13.81\00:27:15.76 opens this stuff very nicely and does a really nice job 00:27:15.77\00:27:18.70 of walking you through what Daniel, 00:27:18.71\00:27:20.88 and the angle is trying to show you. Yeah, yeah. 00:27:20.89\00:27:22.93 The last thing I may say on this too is that the reason 00:27:22.94\00:27:25.16 why this 2300 years, 490 years gets a "bad rap" 00:27:25.17\00:27:31.03 it's because it's identified during this great 00:27:31.04\00:27:33.07 awakening period of the mid-nineteen century, 00:27:33.08\00:27:35.57 the eighteen hundreds. 00:27:35.58\00:27:36.97 As people were being converted and changed 00:27:36.98\00:27:40.69 by the power of this message 00:27:40.70\00:27:42.82 how, when Christ did not return in 1844. 00:27:42.83\00:27:47.44 They didn't just, they threw out everything 00:27:47.45\00:27:51.59 with regard to that prophecy, 00:27:51.60\00:27:52.90 not just the misinterpretation 00:27:52.91\00:27:54.55 of what the fulfillment was. Yes. 00:27:54.56\00:27:56.77 The fulfillment was misinterpreted. 00:27:56.78\00:27:59.24 They believe that the cleansing of the sanctuary 00:27:59.25\00:28:01.08 was the return of Jesus Christ to the earth, 00:28:01.09\00:28:03.38 the sanctuary was the earth. 00:28:03.39\00:28:05.21 And because He didn't come, they said, 00:28:05.22\00:28:06.88 O all these numbers and things, 00:28:06.89\00:28:08.85 no they are misinterpreted, let's throw it out. 00:28:08.86\00:28:11.27 We've got it wrong. 00:28:11.28\00:28:12.57 But they had it very right, 00:28:12.58\00:28:14.49 but the event it pointed to was very wrong. Yeah. 00:28:14.50\00:28:17.79 And that event, the cleansing of the sanctuary 00:28:17.80\00:28:19.51 had more to do with Christ high priestly ministry 00:28:19.52\00:28:22.89 in the heavenly sanctuary. Precisely. 00:28:22.90\00:28:25.02 Not Christ returning to an earthly sanctuary. 00:28:25.03\00:28:28.01 And if you want to understand that little bit better, 00:28:28.02\00:28:29.81 just read Hebrews 7, 8, 9, and 10, 00:28:29.82\00:28:33.67 and you're gonna find, it replete with language 00:28:33.68\00:28:36.57 on Christ, the high priest, the heavenly sanctuary, 00:28:36.58\00:28:39.65 not the one in the earth, 00:28:39.66\00:28:40.66 the one on the earth was a copy 00:28:40.67\00:28:41.85 of the heavenly. Precisely. 00:28:41.86\00:28:43.53 That's what this prophecy is pointing to, 00:28:43.54\00:28:46.33 and to miss that is a incredible disservice 00:28:46.34\00:28:48.95 to theology in general. Yes. 00:28:48.96\00:28:50.99 As it's the bases of our understanding 00:28:51.00\00:28:52.42 of the plan of salvation. 00:28:52.43\00:28:53.63 I love answering this question,I don't know, 00:28:53.64\00:28:55.22 we've got to get to our bottom of our show, 00:28:55.23\00:28:57.10 but answering question is so important so far 00:28:57.30\00:28:59.74 because that's where the people are. Yeah. 00:28:59.75\00:29:02.05 All of this really, when you attack and I use that term 00:29:02.06\00:29:04.99 attack Daniel 9, Daniel Chapter 9. 00:29:05.00\00:29:07.07 You really got to do 8 and 9, 00:29:07.08\00:29:09.61 and you've got to pick up 8:14 which introduces 00:29:09.62\00:29:11.98 2300 days and then you work your way through. 00:29:11.99\00:29:16.04 Daniel needs to be studied, 00:29:16.05\00:29:17.28 studied as a whole to try to just pull something out 00:29:17.29\00:29:20.76 and say this is it. 00:29:20.77\00:29:21.92 You really got to look at context 00:29:21.93\00:29:23.35 when you look into Daniel. 00:29:23.36\00:29:24.40 So Daniel, the burden of Daniel 9, 00:29:24.41\00:29:27.02 really begins in Daniel 8 and to a lesser extent, 00:29:27.03\00:29:30.45 but also Daniel 7. 00:29:30.46\00:29:32.46 So you can't really have one without the other. 00:29:32.47\00:29:35.80 Yeah, and I like the point you are making there, 00:29:35.81\00:29:37.29 because most don't realize that this vision 00:29:37.30\00:29:39.72 that Daniel received and the interpretation of 00:29:39.73\00:29:41.69 it was one vision. Precisely. 00:29:41.70\00:29:44.15 The 2300 days or years, prophetic days 00:29:44.16\00:29:48.28 was a single vision given to Daniel 00:29:48.29\00:29:50.67 about the end of time. 00:29:50.68\00:29:52.17 So even when the angel comes back in 9 to explain it, 00:29:52.18\00:29:55.40 he is talking about the original vision 00:29:55.41\00:29:57.75 of the 2300 years. Yes. 00:29:57.76\00:29:59.44 People don't realize that either, 00:29:59.45\00:30:00.68 they think it's a totally different prophecy. 00:30:00.69\00:30:02.43 But this is the same one that's why Daniel is so key 00:30:02.44\00:30:05.56 and so important in our understanding of prophecy. 00:30:05.57\00:30:08.00 Precisely, yeah. Praise the Lord. 00:30:08.01\00:30:09.54 Bible study is so exciting. 00:30:09.55\00:30:10.83 Really quick, Elaine writes, 00:30:12.12\00:30:13.93 she is--could you help me understand necessity 00:30:15.98\00:30:20.55 of attending church wherever possible 00:30:20.56\00:30:23.38 I realize the sickness isolation 00:30:23.39\00:30:25.19 those kinds of things, may not be able to 00:30:25.20\00:30:29.06 attend She is talking about Hebrew, of course, 10:25. 00:30:29.07\00:30:32.55 Some believe camping out with unbelievers, 00:30:34.25\00:30:36.39 attending birthday parties et cetera, 00:30:36.40\00:30:38.37 fall under the idea of doing good on Sabbath. 00:30:38.38\00:30:42.49 You know, it's lawful to do good on Sabbath, 00:30:42.50\00:30:43.72 Christ said in Matthew Chapter 12. 00:30:43.73\00:30:46.42 Can you help me with this 00:30:46.43\00:30:47.91 to gain some balance in this manner? 00:30:47.92\00:30:50.54 Obviously she is dealing with some people 00:30:50.55\00:30:53.15 whose definition of that which is acceptable 00:30:53.16\00:30:55.82 on Sabbath is very broad. Right. 00:30:55.83\00:30:57.82 You can go to birthday party, 00:31:00.74\00:31:01.83 you can be with friends, you can camp out, 00:31:01.84\00:31:03.66 you can do all kinds of things on Sabbath 00:31:03.67\00:31:05.31 in lieu of attending church 00:31:05.32\00:31:07.76 and all these kinds of stuff is acceptable too. 00:31:07.77\00:31:09.50 And I guess they are hitting her 00:31:11.10\00:31:12.25 with Matthew Chapter 12, 00:31:12.26\00:31:15.05 and I'm going to try to get that real fast. 00:31:15.06\00:31:16.85 And they are saying it's lawful to do good on Sabbath 00:31:19.98\00:31:21.80 and these things are good. 00:31:21.81\00:31:22.78 So I guess that the crux is, 00:31:24.05\00:31:26.32 pastor, the definition of good. 00:31:26.33\00:31:28.70 Well, the definition again comes on the context 00:31:28.71\00:31:32.36 of the chapter that we're dealing with 00:31:32.37\00:31:35.26 in Matthew Chapter 12. 00:31:35.27\00:31:37.41 They are accosting Christ for a couple of things: 00:31:37.42\00:31:39.07 One, His disciples went to through a field, 00:31:39.08\00:31:43.44 plucks a maize of corn and ate the raw corn. 00:31:43.45\00:31:45.66 The second thing was a healing 00:31:47.11\00:31:49.87 that He did on the Sabbath 00:31:49.88\00:31:51.38 and, of course they-- I'll use the term 00:31:51.39\00:31:53.35 modern palace got on his case about the healing. 00:31:53.36\00:31:57.37 And, of course, his answer was, 00:31:57.38\00:31:58.35 it's lawful to do good on the Sabbath. 00:31:58.36\00:31:59.97 Well, again look, rest of the context because 00:31:59.98\00:32:01.99 Christ says, hey, if your sheep falls in a ditch, 00:32:02.00\00:32:05.54 your ox falls in the ditch. 00:32:05.55\00:32:06.97 You are not going to leave him there saying 00:32:06.98\00:32:08.22 it's Sabbath, can't help that poor dumb animal out. 00:32:08.23\00:32:11.70 You go and you get the animal out. 00:32:11.71\00:32:13.86 And so I healed. 00:32:15.25\00:32:16.36 It's lawful to do good on the Sabbath. 00:32:16.37\00:32:18.53 Well, what's the context for good? 00:32:18.54\00:32:20.07 Good is lifting the burdens and life lightening the load 00:32:20.08\00:32:23.78 of fellow human beings. 00:32:23.79\00:32:25.31 I don't think, going to a birthday party, 00:32:25.32\00:32:26.95 falls in that category. 00:32:26.96\00:32:28.08 Yeah. I really don't. 00:32:28.09\00:32:29.87 I remember one Sabbath, on the Friday night, 00:32:29.88\00:32:31.96 my first elder's house burned, 00:32:31.97\00:32:34.87 almost burned to the ground. 00:32:34.88\00:32:36.39 And so we cancelled church service, 00:32:36.40\00:32:39.19 went home, changed our clothes, 00:32:40.46\00:32:42.79 cooked some food, and help him dig out, 00:32:42.80\00:32:45.96 you know, Sabbath afternoon. 00:32:45.97\00:32:46.94 Help him recover what he could, 00:32:48.29\00:32:50.20 and I and we prayed and we sang and neighbors came 00:32:50.21\00:32:52.67 and they saw that, and were very impressed. 00:32:52.68\00:32:56.11 I think that was an acceptable Sabbath activity, 00:32:56.12\00:32:59.43 because it was an emergency situation. 00:32:59.44\00:33:01.65 We were helping lift the load 00:33:01.66\00:33:03.79 of someone who was really in trouble. 00:33:03.80\00:33:05.60 You know, that's acceptable. 00:33:05.61\00:33:07.06 Going to a birthday party 00:33:07.07\00:33:08.31 doesn't fall in the category for me. 00:33:08.32\00:33:09.82 You know, when I was a young Christian, 00:33:09.83\00:33:12.29 really trying to find out what does it 00:33:12.30\00:33:14.07 mean to observe the Sabbath. 00:33:14.08\00:33:15.18 What activities can I and cannot do, 00:33:15.19\00:33:17.96 and you know, you are fallen 00:33:17.97\00:33:18.94 to this trap of do's and don'ts, I want the list. 00:33:18.95\00:33:21.05 Yeah, yeah, yeah. Makes it is. 00:33:21.06\00:33:22.87 Just give me list. And there really is no list. 00:33:22.88\00:33:25.97 Then you have to, you have to come up with 00:33:25.98\00:33:27.97 you got to experiment a bit, if I say. 00:33:29.30\00:33:31.64 Experiment a bit as far as observing 00:33:31.65\00:33:34.49 personal observing of the Sabbath of the holy day. 00:33:34.50\00:33:37.96 And I remember for time there 00:33:37.97\00:33:39.95 at the very beginning, one of the activities 00:33:39.96\00:33:41.28 that I chose to try to do. 00:33:41.29\00:33:42.64 I say, do you know what? 00:33:42.65\00:33:44.04 My friends are asking me, it's a weekend. 00:33:44.05\00:33:46.53 There is a basketball tournament down at the beach. 00:33:46.54\00:33:49.57 And I'm gonna go with my friends 00:33:49.58\00:33:50.91 and play on this three on three tournament 00:33:50.92\00:33:53.03 and you know, its not anything 00:33:53.04\00:33:55.08 that's overtly wrong but, you know, 00:33:55.09\00:33:57.89 what I can witness to my friends little bit, 00:33:57.90\00:33:59.45 or be in conversion the car, 00:33:59.46\00:34:01.62 I'll get down there, all have, 00:34:01.63\00:34:03.10 good sportsmanship and you know what, 00:34:03.11\00:34:05.22 I did it that day. 00:34:05.23\00:34:07.49 And afterward I felt guilty, and here is why? 00:34:07.50\00:34:11.88 Because I didn't spend time with the Lord 00:34:11.89\00:34:14.20 like I thought I was going to. 00:34:14.21\00:34:16.60 I didn't witness as I thought I was going to. 00:34:16.61\00:34:19.24 I got cut off in the competition 00:34:19.25\00:34:21.75 of the whole thing, and I really found out that, 00:34:21.76\00:34:24.44 that activity was not conducive to my relationship, 00:34:24.45\00:34:27.49 improving my relationship with Jesus. 00:34:27.50\00:34:29.86 And so I asked myself all the time now days 00:34:30.91\00:34:33.11 whenever it comes to an event. 00:34:33.12\00:34:35.55 Can this activity help me in furthering 00:34:35.56\00:34:38.59 my relationship with Jesus, 00:34:38.60\00:34:40.57 and sharing and help the others, 00:34:40.58\00:34:42.70 improve their relationship with Christ, 00:34:42.71\00:34:44.32 lifting burden would be one of those things. 00:34:44.33\00:34:46.21 And if I cannot, if I cannot 00:34:47.30\00:34:48.82 do this activity with Jesus, I excluded. 00:34:48.83\00:34:50.93 And it's fairly become, 00:34:52.26\00:34:53.32 fairly simple for me these things now. 00:34:53.33\00:34:55.65 And so I would say anybody who is looking for the list, 00:34:55.66\00:34:58.95 if you have any question about it 00:35:00.41\00:35:01.77 and you decide to do something, if you are 00:35:01.78\00:35:03.64 finding uncomfortableness in what you did. 00:35:03.65\00:35:06.46 God doesn't condemn you for that 00:35:06.47\00:35:07.92 but He is saying learn from that. 00:35:07.93\00:35:10.37 And then take it off your list, 00:35:10.38\00:35:11.87 if you want a list and move forward 00:35:11.88\00:35:14.69 and do things that are much more 00:35:14.70\00:35:16.63 conducive to your relationship. 00:35:16.64\00:35:18.39 Much more better than the a list is to 00:35:18.40\00:35:21.57 develop a working relationship with Christ 00:35:21.58\00:35:23.85 because that will-- it's really a case-by-case basis 00:35:23.86\00:35:27.88 but it's informed by your love of 00:35:27.89\00:35:30.29 and your work with Jesus. 00:35:30.30\00:35:31.95 There are some things, that perhaps 00:35:31.96\00:35:34.66 now as a pastor of the church 00:35:34.67\00:35:36.25 who has grown in the Lord that maybe when you 00:35:36.26\00:35:38.68 first came in and you said, that's not so bad, 00:35:38.69\00:35:40.51 including what you just did. 00:35:40.52\00:35:41.79 Now that's not even a question 00:35:41.80\00:35:43.90 because your relationship with God 00:35:43.91\00:35:45.59 informs what you're gonna do, 00:35:45.60\00:35:47.82 and there is this kind of impression, 00:35:47.83\00:35:50.25 it's called discernment, as you walk with the Lord, 00:35:50.26\00:35:53.29 as you hear something the spirit is saying, 00:35:53.30\00:35:55.40 you know, not going to fly. 00:35:56.67\00:35:58.40 No way you can massage it, no way you can spin it, 00:35:58.41\00:36:00.73 that's not a correct Sabbath activity. 00:36:00.74\00:36:02.66 And the closer you walk with the Lord, 00:36:02.67\00:36:05.18 the louder that becomes. 00:36:05.19\00:36:06.79 If you put on your shorts and sneaker now 00:36:06.80\00:36:09.21 on the Sabbath morning. 00:36:09.22\00:36:10.56 You couldn't even get out of the door, 00:36:10.57\00:36:12.25 you know, you just couldn't 00:36:12.26\00:36:13.32 because the spirit will be hitting you 00:36:13.33\00:36:14.64 so hard because you know, that's not acceptable. 00:36:14.65\00:36:17.87 And one of the things that she alluded to, 00:36:17.88\00:36:19.86 that's why the Lord says 'Forsake not the assembling 00:36:19.87\00:36:21.76 of yourselves together." 00:36:21.77\00:36:22.74 There is accountability factor and, of course, 00:36:22.75\00:36:25.11 if you are in church on Sabbath day, 00:36:25.12\00:36:26.99 no question that's the right thing to do 00:36:27.00\00:36:28.22 because the Bible asked you to do that. 00:36:28.23\00:36:30.69 Once you start skipping church for whatever reason 00:36:30.70\00:36:32.58 you really need to question, 00:36:32.59\00:36:34.86 why you are doing it and does that activity 00:36:34.87\00:36:36.97 bring you closer to God, 00:36:36.98\00:36:38.06 give you better knowledge of God, 00:36:38.07\00:36:39.61 increase your walk with the Lord. 00:36:39.62\00:36:40.93 Yeah, amen. 00:36:40.94\00:36:42.00 In fact, Isaiah 58 mentions about 00:36:43.06\00:36:46.01 keep from doing your own pleasure on my holy day. 00:36:47.21\00:36:50.92 You know, it's something I want so badly 00:36:50.93\00:36:52.69 or is it something that the Lord will want, 00:36:52.70\00:36:54.43 He will be with me. 00:36:54.44\00:36:55.86 Thank you very much for your questions again. 00:36:55.87\00:36:57.62 Please send the questions into housecalls@3abn.org 00:36:57.63\00:37:01.57 that's our email address set up have a topic that is 00:37:18.02\00:37:22.19 we could really dive deeply into 00:37:22.20\00:37:24.09 and this is the topic involving 00:37:24.10\00:37:25.78 the titles that Jesus had mostly walk, 00:37:26.81\00:37:29.43 He was here of Savior and Lord. 00:37:29.44\00:37:33.23 What do those things mean, are they are the same? 00:37:33.24\00:37:35.98 Does we hear frequently, someone will say, well, 00:37:35.99\00:37:38.02 Jesus is my Lord and my Savior. 00:37:38.03\00:37:40.15 And it's almost as if it just kind of 00:37:40.16\00:37:41.93 that's the whole title together. 00:37:41.94\00:37:45.00 But what we want to do is 00:37:45.01\00:37:46.21 differentiate a little bit here 00:37:46.22\00:37:47.84 for a while, what those titles mean. 00:37:47.85\00:37:51.23 And then, of course, maybe if the program 00:37:51.24\00:37:53.82 goes to a second program, 00:37:53.83\00:37:55.10 we can talk a little bit more about 00:37:55.11\00:37:56.40 what it means to make Him our Lord 00:37:56.41\00:37:59.69 because that's really where we want to go here. 00:37:59.70\00:38:02.31 Jesus is mostly known for being our Savior, 00:38:02.32\00:38:04.85 the Savior of the world. 00:38:04.86\00:38:05.83 In fact, we'll start off with one text 00:38:05.84\00:38:07.47 from Matthew Chapter 1. 00:38:07.48\00:38:08.81 Matthew Chapter 1 verse, I think its 21, yeah 21, 00:38:11.42\00:38:16.28 speaking of, it's a prophetic verse. 00:38:18.10\00:38:21.81 "She will bring forth a Son, 00:38:21.82\00:38:23.90 and you shall call His name Jesus." 00:38:24.95\00:38:27.12 Speaking of Mary. Bringing forth Jesus. 00:38:27.13\00:38:30.82 "For He will save His people from their sins." 00:38:30.83\00:38:34.94 There we find in essence, the essence or the meaning 00:38:34.95\00:38:39.14 of Jesus being our Savior. 00:38:39.15\00:38:41.06 He will save us from our sins. 00:38:41.07\00:38:43.20 He will take the penalty that is meant for us. 00:38:43.21\00:38:46.06 He will bare that on the cross. 00:38:46.07\00:38:47.73 He will bare our sins, and He will save us 00:38:47.74\00:38:50.52 rather than allow us to go to destruction. 00:38:50.53\00:38:53.27 That is the essence of the meaning of Savior. 00:38:53.28\00:38:55.55 Yeah, you know, Jesus is Savior, John, 00:38:55.56\00:38:58.19 because of His volitional act. 00:38:58.20\00:39:00.57 It really has nothing to do with us. 00:39:00.58\00:39:03.17 Yeah. The Savior part is His. 00:39:03.18\00:39:05.47 We're gonna talk about the Lord in a minute, 00:39:05.48\00:39:06.99 but He is the Savior of the world. 00:39:07.00\00:39:08.88 When He went to the cross, 00:39:08.89\00:39:10.14 He became de facto Savior of the world. 00:39:10.15\00:39:13.32 Now whether we accept it or apply it, 00:39:13.33\00:39:15.27 that's the next part, 00:39:15.28\00:39:17.37 but He is the Savior of the world. 00:39:17.38\00:39:20.29 No man cometh to the father but by me. 00:39:20.30\00:39:22.58 He said, He is Savior. 00:39:22.59\00:39:24.99 Whether you accept it or not, that's on you. 00:39:26.68\00:39:28.78 Yeah. But He is our Savior. 00:39:28.79\00:39:30.98 No one else has done that, no one else could do it, 00:39:30.99\00:39:33.01 no one else will ever do it. 00:39:33.02\00:39:34.43 His sacrifice was sufficient once 00:39:34.44\00:39:36.84 and for all time again the burden 00:39:36.85\00:39:38.15 of the Book of Hebrews, He is undoubtly, 00:39:38.16\00:39:41.08 unquestionably Savior of the world. 00:39:41.09\00:39:44.25 You know, you put that much better than I. 00:39:44.26\00:39:46.42 I actually have some of my sermon that I gave recently 00:39:46.43\00:39:49.50 on the Sabbath, it kind of helps, 00:39:49.51\00:39:50.81 pull some thought together, 00:39:50.82\00:39:51.79 but I did not share that aspect in it, 00:39:51.80\00:39:54.25 but I like the way you are putting that 00:39:54.26\00:39:55.56 because there is no ifs, ands, 00:39:55.57\00:39:57.77 buts about it, He is the Savior. 00:39:57.78\00:39:59.25 He is the Savior, right. That's Him. 00:39:59.26\00:40:00.90 I mean, whether I accept it or not. 00:40:00.91\00:40:03.31 And that's key because that's not the same 00:40:03.32\00:40:07.13 with the title Lord. Precisely. 00:40:07.14\00:40:09.59 Not at all. No. 00:40:09.60\00:40:10.87 He is not everybody's Lord, 00:40:10.88\00:40:12.41 but He is everybody's Savior. 00:40:12.42\00:40:13.62 Yeah, just like, He is everybody's creator. 00:40:13.63\00:40:16.78 No one else did it without Him. 00:40:16.79\00:40:18.53 Colossians says, "Was not anything made that was made." 00:40:19.77\00:40:22.46 Whether you accept it or not, 00:40:22.74\00:40:23.71 whether you like it or not, whether you're scientist 00:40:23.72\00:40:25.18 who believes it or not, that doesn't change the fact. 00:40:25.19\00:40:27.51 He is the creator, and He is Savior. 00:40:27.52\00:40:29.97 Can't unalterable, unchangeable, irresistible, 00:40:29.98\00:40:33.95 He is it, yeah. Yeah. I like it. 00:40:33.96\00:40:35.83 You know, and here is another aspect, 00:40:35.84\00:40:37.56 that's the de facto part. 00:40:37.57\00:40:38.90 You can say, I like that word even. 00:40:38.91\00:40:41.20 But as we re-transition now to those who apply 00:40:41.21\00:40:43.88 who accept Him as their Savior. 00:40:44.95\00:40:47.68 Now staying on the subject of Savior here for moment. 00:40:47.69\00:40:50.38 To accept Him as their Savior, 00:40:50.39\00:40:52.31 we can save then that, that fact has now been applied 00:40:52.32\00:40:55.65 to them for a benefit, receiving the benefit 00:40:55.66\00:40:57.93 of salvation through our Savior Jesus Christ, 00:40:57.94\00:41:02.37 and what He has done for Him. 00:41:02.38\00:41:04.09 And I mentioned that because there is a tie here 00:41:04.10\00:41:06.80 that we cannot dismiss to justification. 00:41:06.81\00:41:09.65 We talk about sanctification and Lord 00:41:11.75\00:41:13.75 here in just a minute, but there is a tie here 00:41:13.76\00:41:15.65 to justification and Christ being our Savior, 00:41:15.66\00:41:19.23 and let's march through that a little bit, 00:41:19.24\00:41:20.86 because this justification is a big word 00:41:20.87\00:41:23.60 and so may struggled with it, but what does that mean? 00:41:23.61\00:41:26.74 Yeah, you know, it's funny. 00:41:26.75\00:41:29.08 And my mind goes back to this, 00:41:29.09\00:41:30.47 years ago when I first came out of school, 00:41:30.48\00:41:33.04 I had a--you know, when you first graduate from school, 00:41:33.05\00:41:36.06 the credit card companies jump on you 00:41:36.07\00:41:38.13 to give you this credit cards. 00:41:38.14\00:41:39.26 I was so afraid of getting credit card there. 00:41:39.27\00:41:42.10 I wouldn't use the card, you know, I just had it. 00:41:42.11\00:41:45.39 There was an account open for me that I wouldn't use, 00:41:45.40\00:41:48.74 you know, there was the-- I had credit but I was-- 00:41:48.75\00:41:50.81 I wouldn't avail myself. 00:41:50.82\00:41:52.76 And I think about that with Christ as Savior 00:41:53.82\00:41:55.81 and justification experience. 00:41:55.82\00:41:58.47 Once we come to Christ, there is this account open. 00:41:58.48\00:42:03.67 There is credit for you. 00:42:03.68\00:42:06.05 But you got to accept it, you know, 00:42:06.06\00:42:07.61 Christ said, hey, you are okay. 00:42:07.62\00:42:10.37 You're gonna walk into that, 00:42:10.38\00:42:11.41 you're gonna use that, or you're gonna kind of 00:42:11.42\00:42:13.36 stay on the outside, just kind of looking in. 00:42:13.37\00:42:15.80 He is our Savior and when we come to Him, 00:42:15.81\00:42:19.76 immediately we get credit. 00:42:19.77\00:42:21.75 We get credit for something 00:42:22.95\00:42:24.19 that we have not yet attained. 00:42:24.20\00:42:26.18 He just says, from now on since you love me, 00:42:26.19\00:42:29.31 I'm gonna look at you as though you are perfect. 00:42:29.32\00:42:32.82 I'm gonna look at you in a sinless state, 00:42:32.83\00:42:35.25 not because I'm looking a perfect person, 00:42:35.26\00:42:38.37 I'm kind looking through 00:42:38.38\00:42:39.35 my own blood stain glasses dare I say, 00:42:39.36\00:42:42.32 and when I look through the blood of Christ, 00:42:42.33\00:42:44.27 I see you as perfect. 00:42:44.28\00:42:46.23 I'm giving you my life, the perfect life I live, 00:42:46.24\00:42:48.67 precisely, as your own. 00:42:48.68\00:42:50.13 And that's why there is this imagery of the covering, 00:42:50.14\00:42:52.91 being covered with the righteous robe, 00:42:52.92\00:42:55.28 the garment of Christ, because when we are covered 00:42:55.29\00:42:58.36 even though we are stained inside, 00:42:58.37\00:43:00.55 the Father sees Christ in our life. 00:43:00.56\00:43:03.25 That John, really is 00:43:03.26\00:43:04.34 a mind blowing reality, it really is. 00:43:04.35\00:43:07.34 There you are with your striped shirt on, you know, 00:43:08.34\00:43:10.67 and Christ says I'm not going to see you, John, 00:43:12.02\00:43:14.82 with your striped shirt on. Right. 00:43:14.83\00:43:16.22 I'm gonna see you with a perfectly white robe, 00:43:16.23\00:43:19.28 because I chose to. 00:43:19.29\00:43:20.93 Is not that I--I can see you like this, 00:43:20.94\00:43:24.25 but I choose to see you another way 00:43:24.26\00:43:26.72 that--and there is nothing you've done to merit that. 00:43:26.73\00:43:30.91 It's, the Father saying, since Christ has done this, 00:43:30.92\00:43:34.62 from now on that's going to color dare I say. 00:43:34.63\00:43:37.24 Everything I see about you, so I'm going to look at you 00:43:37.25\00:43:40.64 as though you are perfect. 00:43:40.65\00:43:41.99 I'm going to treat you as though you are perfect. 00:43:42.00\00:43:45.14 I'm going to adopt you as a child of mine 00:43:45.15\00:43:48.58 and give you all the benefits 00:43:48.59\00:43:50.88 that accrue from that adoption, 00:43:50.89\00:43:53.05 and you deserve absolutely none of it. 00:43:53.06\00:43:56.31 But I am doing it because my son Jesus 00:43:56.32\00:43:59.18 has sacrificed His blood for you. 00:43:59.19\00:44:00.93 That just kind of knocks you out, man, 00:44:00.94\00:44:03.30 it's just marvelous. You can do it. 00:44:03.31\00:44:04.85 You can do anything with it. 00:44:04.86\00:44:06.29 All you yon can do is just say, I accept it, 00:44:06.30\00:44:08.58 I want that. Yeah. 00:44:08.59\00:44:09.94 You know, and it a couple of verses come into mind. 00:44:09.95\00:44:12.30 Isaiah Chapter 1 talks about our sins maybe-- 00:44:13.53\00:44:19.25 what is the word here, reddish crimson, 00:44:21.02\00:44:23.28 yes, he will be his world. 00:44:23.29\00:44:24.39 There will be stain, they will be like-- 00:44:25.88\00:44:27.74 Like scarlet, but I'm going to make him white, yeah. 00:44:27.75\00:44:29.18 But I'm make him white as snow, 00:44:29.19\00:44:30.99 and so that imagery there is, 00:44:31.00\00:44:32.55 is the way God looks at us, and that's a wonderful 00:44:32.56\00:44:35.64 thing when you accept Christ as your Savior, 00:44:35.65\00:44:37.58 yeah, to be justified 00:44:37.59\00:44:39.54 and that's the word I am using here. 00:44:39.55\00:44:42.59 One text is from Romans Chapter 3 verse 25. 00:44:42.60\00:44:47.16 Actually starting with verse 23. 00:44:47.17\00:44:48.96 Let's back up a little bit. 00:44:48.97\00:44:50.58 "For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God." 00:44:50.59\00:44:53.22 In other words, we cannot do anything 00:44:53.23\00:44:55.84 to earn this salvation. 00:44:55.85\00:44:58.46 Verse 24, "Being justified" there is the word 00:44:58.47\00:45:01.33 justification is just an extension of that word 00:45:01.34\00:45:03.97 "justified freely buy his grace 00:45:03.98\00:45:06.32 through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus, 00:45:06.33\00:45:09.01 whom God set forth as a propitiation 00:45:09.02\00:45:11.59 by his blood through faith" 00:45:11.60\00:45:14.05 and that's the key word there 00:45:14.06\00:45:15.25 "Through faith to demonstrate his righteousness 00:45:15.26\00:45:17.77 because in his forbearance 00:45:17.78\00:45:19.53 God had past over the sins that were 00:45:19.54\00:45:23.73 previously committed to demonstrate 00:45:23.74\00:45:26.48 at the present time His righteousness, 00:45:26.49\00:45:28.57 that He might be just and the justifier 00:45:28.58\00:45:31.08 of the one who has faith in Jesus." 00:45:31.09\00:45:34.84 Here is this perfect gracious gift 00:45:34.85\00:45:38.44 that God has given to us to pass over our sins 00:45:38.45\00:45:42.37 if we had never sinned to be our Savior, 00:45:42.38\00:45:44.75 to have taken that penalty of sin on Himself 00:45:44.76\00:45:48.45 and to die that eternal separation 00:45:48.46\00:45:50.64 that we would have do experience, 00:45:50.65\00:45:52.62 had we not had the Savior? 00:45:52.63\00:45:54.81 It's just an amazing thought and, you know, what 00:45:54.82\00:45:57.71 one of the things that I have to mention here 00:45:57.72\00:46:00.02 when we read like Ephesians 2:8, 00:46:00.03\00:46:02.74 talking about by grace we've been saved 00:46:04.78\00:46:06.38 through faith, it's a gift of God. 00:46:06.39\00:46:08.77 Not of works, let's anyone boast. 00:46:08.78\00:46:10.46 When we talk about that verse, 00:46:11.51\00:46:12.87 that's typical what people think of as grace. 00:46:12.88\00:46:15.19 But there is actually several, 00:46:16.64\00:46:17.92 there is a couple aspects of grace. 00:46:17.93\00:46:19.79 Very true. That's saving grace. 00:46:19.80\00:46:22.53 That's the grace, none of the grace you can earn, 00:46:22.54\00:46:25.26 but that's the grace that saves you, 00:46:25.27\00:46:26.64 that justifies you which is what are talking about here. 00:46:26.65\00:46:30.00 And we're gonna transition here into, 00:46:30.01\00:46:33.06 not just the saving aspect of grace, 00:46:33.07\00:46:35.01 but a living and powering aspect of grace. 00:46:35.02\00:46:40.02 Of grace, really. Yes, yes. 00:46:40.03\00:46:41.49 You've mentioned the word and it jumped out of it 00:46:42.56\00:46:44.73 because it, if we continue to read verse 27, he says, 00:46:44.74\00:46:48.46 "Where is boasting then, you know, 00:46:48.47\00:46:50.49 when you look at the salvation process, 00:46:50.50\00:46:52.63 we really have nothing to sort of 00:46:52.64\00:46:54.53 thump our chest about. 00:46:54.54\00:46:56.17 And I am tapping on microphone, 00:46:56.18\00:46:57.15 I know my--the director and guys are going to 00:46:57.16\00:46:59.43 get upset, because you are not supposed to do that. 00:46:59.44\00:47:01.30 But what can you pound your chest about. 00:47:01.31\00:47:03.82 It begins with Jesus, it goes on all you can do, 00:47:05.48\00:47:10.68 is humbly say, Lord I praise you and I thank you. 00:47:10.69\00:47:14.02 You know God is saying because of what Christ 00:47:14.03\00:47:16.76 has done, you are not going to die, 00:47:16.77\00:47:21.17 not only are you not going to die, you're gonna live. 00:47:21.18\00:47:24.98 Not only are you going to live, 00:47:24.99\00:47:26.96 you are going to live victoriously. 00:47:26.97\00:47:29.10 You are going to be adopted into the family 00:47:29.11\00:47:32.28 with all the right and privileges thereof. 00:47:32.29\00:47:35.43 And have opened for you a line of credit 00:47:35.44\00:47:38.54 that you cannot overdraw. 00:47:38.55\00:47:40.53 Anytime you need strength, come and get it, 00:47:40.54\00:47:43.41 it's waiting there for you. Why? 00:47:43.42\00:47:46.11 Simply because you accept Christ. 00:47:46.12\00:47:48.26 It's marvelous, the initiative of God 00:47:49.49\00:47:53.59 to begin this act and all we have to do is stop fighting, 00:47:53.60\00:47:57.92 and all of these are ours. 00:47:57.93\00:47:58.99 Yeah. Yeah. 00:47:59.00\00:48:00.29 And this is the part of the free grace that we get, 00:48:00.30\00:48:03.84 and I see free grace not in that Christ 00:48:03.85\00:48:07.78 did it really easily and it was all free to Him, 00:48:07.79\00:48:09.75 I mean, it cost Christ everything. 00:48:09.76\00:48:11.37 It cost the Father everything 00:48:11.38\00:48:12.98 to give that to us, but it's free 00:48:12.99\00:48:14.77 and that we cannot earn it. 00:48:14.78\00:48:16.05 And there is, but there is a salvation aspect here 00:48:17.98\00:48:22.25 that I want to transition to here that, 00:48:22.26\00:48:25.12 that is the other part of His title. 00:48:25.13\00:48:28.22 He is Savior, He saved us from our sins but-- 00:48:28.23\00:48:32.00 and He has justified us 00:48:32.01\00:48:33.16 freely as we've been talking about. 00:48:33.17\00:48:34.83 But then we get to a sanctification aspect, 00:48:34.84\00:48:37.90 the growth in Christ. Oh, yes. 00:48:37.91\00:48:39.95 The living day by day with Him, 00:48:39.96\00:48:41.92 because you see when He saves you and when you, 00:48:41.93\00:48:45.40 as a public expression of that salvation 00:48:45.41\00:48:47.71 are baptized into Him. 00:48:47.72\00:48:50.14 Christ also takes that symbol of baptism. 00:48:50.15\00:48:54.28 Going down to the oak, 00:48:54.29\00:48:55.30 letting the old man die and coming back in, 00:48:55.31\00:48:57.16 we did a recent program on that. 00:48:57.17\00:48:59.03 And then He says, I want to now fill you with My spirit. 00:48:59.04\00:49:02.71 So that you may walk in that salvation experience, 00:49:04.01\00:49:07.31 that saving that Christ as your Savior experience. 00:49:07.32\00:49:10.34 And this is the beginning of making Jesus, 00:49:10.35\00:49:13.11 your Lord and so this is the aspect, 00:49:13.12\00:49:17.07 I guess we didn't talk 00:49:17.08\00:49:18.24 a little bit about what Lord means. 00:49:18.25\00:49:19.95 And you go back, you know, 00:49:21.03\00:49:22.08 typically when I think of Lord, 00:49:22.09\00:49:23.32 I think of the English, 00:49:23.33\00:49:26.23 you know, you go back to that. 00:49:26.24\00:49:27.66 You see these old programs, you know, 00:49:27.67\00:49:29.47 the knights and all the other things and 00:49:29.48\00:49:31.67 stuff that, you know, you grew up 00:49:31.68\00:49:33.01 with the Lords since stuff that are 00:49:33.02\00:49:35.01 over there in England. Lord's small L. 00:49:35.02\00:49:37.73 Yeah, Lord's small L, absolutely, I forget that. 00:49:37.74\00:49:40.90 But the word Lord is very much the same. 00:49:40.91\00:49:45.41 Because Lord, there is authority in the household, 00:49:45.42\00:49:49.66 authority of the family. 00:49:49.67\00:49:51.45 He is in charge of all His resources? 00:49:51.46\00:49:54.35 And that's what Jesus is as He has 00:49:54.36\00:49:56.99 purchased back our redemption. 00:49:57.00\00:49:59.18 He has purchased us back. 00:49:59.19\00:50:00.96 Once we accept Him as our Savior, 00:50:00.97\00:50:02.90 the only place to go is to take the next step 00:50:02.91\00:50:06.34 and accept Him as the Lord of our life, 00:50:06.35\00:50:08.64 because we-- as being as part of His kingdom, 00:50:08.65\00:50:11.36 it is His resources, it is His spirit leading 00:50:11.37\00:50:14.04 and guiding us, Him providing for all of our needs. 00:50:14.05\00:50:18.00 We need to begin to think of Him as Lord, 00:50:18.01\00:50:20.51 not just our Savior. Very, very true. 00:50:20.52\00:50:23.78 And I like the illusion. 00:50:23.79\00:50:26.05 Sanctification, justification, Lord, 00:50:27.16\00:50:30.52 I've stepped in the mud and my shoes are muddy. 00:50:30.53\00:50:33.77 I need you to look at me 00:50:35.86\00:50:37.42 as though my shoes are not muddy, 00:50:37.43\00:50:39.87 while you are cleaning them, justification. 00:50:39.88\00:50:43.53 Now, Lord, I need you 00:50:44.62\00:50:45.59 to clean my shoes, sanctification. 00:50:45.60\00:50:49.51 But also I want you to direct my path, 00:50:49.52\00:50:52.77 so that I don't step in anymore mud, Lord. 00:50:52.78\00:50:55.96 Yeah. Lead me in the right way. 00:50:55.97\00:50:58.83 I am willing to say wherever you lead, I will follow. 00:50:58.84\00:51:02.92 Now I am making you Lord of my life. 00:51:02.93\00:51:04.53 And if You say go here, I go. 00:51:04.54\00:51:06.39 If you say make a left, I make a left. 00:51:06.40\00:51:08.43 I am making You Lord of my life. 00:51:08.44\00:51:10.18 I am surrendering to You because I know 00:51:10.19\00:51:12.63 if I take my own path, I am in mud up to my neck, 00:51:12.64\00:51:16.55 but if I will follow you, I can kind of be mud free. 00:51:16.56\00:51:20.03 So the key aspect you are saying 00:51:20.04\00:51:21.23 then of Lordship is leadership. 00:51:21.24\00:51:23.56 Precisely, yeah. 00:51:23.57\00:51:24.87 Which we have to connect to discipleship. 00:51:24.88\00:51:26.97 Oh, yes. 00:51:26.98\00:51:28.54 You can't get away from that. 00:51:28.55\00:51:30.11 It's it's--everybody wants Jesus to clean up the mess. 00:51:30.12\00:51:33.88 Nobody wants to live a messy life, 00:51:33.89\00:51:38.17 but the next step is ordering your life, 00:51:38.18\00:51:41.32 so that you cannot create any new messes, 00:51:41.33\00:51:44.33 so that you can live above that kind of life, 00:51:44.34\00:51:48.09 so that you can be free, so that sin does not have 00:51:48.10\00:51:51.13 dominion which you points it out 00:51:51.14\00:51:52.82 in your message over you anymore. 00:51:52.83\00:51:54.18 Yeah. Yeah. 00:51:54.19\00:51:55.28 There are very popular verse, First John 1:9, 00:51:55.29\00:51:57.59 "If we confess our sins, he is faithful 00:51:57.60\00:51:59.07 and just to forgive us our sins." 00:51:59.08\00:52:01.87 There is the Savior's aspect. 00:52:01.88\00:52:03.32 He has brought back or He is just in declaring you 00:52:03.33\00:52:07.87 righteous even though you are not. 00:52:09.61\00:52:12.02 But also then He cleanse us from all unrighteousness, 00:52:12.03\00:52:16.49 that's the washing, continually washing 00:52:16.50\00:52:18.15 think that's the leadership aspect of Lord, 00:52:18.16\00:52:21.41 that's the discipleship part and there is a lot we 00:52:21.42\00:52:24.62 say about discipleship, but really that's making 00:52:24.63\00:52:27.47 Jesus the decision maker in your life. 00:52:27.48\00:52:30.34 And I think that it is an aspect 00:52:30.35\00:52:32.41 that is difficult for us to do. 00:52:32.42\00:52:34.31 I mean, come on, who doesn't want to 00:52:34.32\00:52:36.63 avoid fires of hell, who doesn't want to 00:52:36.64\00:52:39.74 live in eternal bliss, who doesn't want to 00:52:39.75\00:52:42.67 experience those things, but I would ask the question. 00:52:42.68\00:52:45.52 Who wants to give up their life, as they know it. 00:52:46.95\00:52:49.66 You know, that's not, 00:52:51.06\00:52:52.41 that's not an easy thing necessarily 00:52:52.42\00:52:54.18 and that's why it requires the saving part first 00:52:54.19\00:52:57.06 because it-- our mind has to be transformed 00:52:57.07\00:52:59.07 to want to give our lives to Jesus for what He has done. 00:52:59.08\00:53:02.61 Then we've got to make the decision, 00:53:02.62\00:53:04.28 and it's a day by day taking up of our cross of dying 00:53:04.29\00:53:07.88 to remain in that decision to make Him our Lord. 00:53:07.89\00:53:11.64 Yes, and a number of things that accrue from that 00:53:11.65\00:53:13.08 including what we talked about little bit earlier. 00:53:13.09\00:53:15.61 As you walk with the Lord, you guess spread 00:53:15.62\00:53:17.25 the discernment as you surrender to Him. 00:53:17.26\00:53:20.78 The line between right and wrong also become clear, 00:53:20.79\00:53:24.29 so that, John Stanton, in this year, 00:53:24.30\00:53:27.42 is not the John Stanton of 10 years ago 00:53:27.43\00:53:29.41 and the idea of putting on short 00:53:29.42\00:53:30.63 and sneakers and playing basketball on Sabbath, 00:53:30.64\00:53:32.29 does not even occur you, because you are 00:53:32.30\00:53:33.67 much further along that road, 00:53:33.68\00:53:35.05 that's not even a temptation any more. 00:53:35.06\00:53:36.90 Because you are being sanctified, 00:53:36.91\00:53:38.74 your life has been cleansed. 00:53:38.75\00:53:39.79 I will take a quick start, 00:53:39.80\00:53:40.77 my mother used to come and visit me. 00:53:40.78\00:53:42.22 Now we are talking about your mom 00:53:42.23\00:53:43.67 just before we came on air. 00:53:43.68\00:53:45.78 One of the things that aggravate me 00:53:45.79\00:53:46.98 about my mother is that she is a compulsive cleaner. 00:53:46.99\00:53:49.63 When my mother would come to particularly 00:53:49.64\00:53:51.17 when I was single before I got married, 00:53:51.18\00:53:53.20 I was pasturing but I was single. 00:53:53.21\00:53:55.12 I would clean before she came to house, 00:53:55.13\00:53:56.97 because I know my mother's tendency, 00:53:56.98\00:53:59.76 and she get in, take off her coat and begin, 00:53:59.77\00:54:03.17 finding stuff to clean, you know, 00:54:03.18\00:54:04.80 it would kind of aggravate me because I said, 00:54:04.81\00:54:06.02 "I've already cleaned that mom." 00:54:06.03\00:54:07.03 She said like, "No, you didn't." 00:54:07.04\00:54:08.06 That's, that's not clean. 00:54:08.07\00:54:09.75 I was gonna say you clean it, 00:54:09.76\00:54:10.89 and she would clean behind the refrigerator, 00:54:10.90\00:54:13.04 she would clean the receiver of the phone, 00:54:13.05\00:54:14.71 she would clean under the toaster, you know, 00:54:14.72\00:54:16.44 she all these little places that 00:54:16.45\00:54:17.64 it didn't occurred me to catch. 00:54:17.65\00:54:20.05 And that's what the Holy Spirit does. 00:54:20.06\00:54:21.92 Once that comes into your life, it's like my mom, 00:54:21.93\00:54:24.70 clean, clean, clean, clean, 00:54:24.71\00:54:26.36 and you think that's pretty clean, 00:54:26.37\00:54:27.85 Holy Spirit, no, no, its not that clean. 00:54:27.86\00:54:29.76 Let me share you this; and the longer 00:54:29.77\00:54:31.39 you are with Him that sanctifying process 00:54:31.40\00:54:33.48 you see more and more that needs to be clean, 00:54:33.49\00:54:35.17 but you are actually getting better, 00:54:35.18\00:54:36.88 I say better and drawing closer to the Lord 00:54:36.89\00:54:39.15 through that cleaning process. 00:54:39.16\00:54:40.13 So He is faithful and just to forgive 00:54:40.14\00:54:44.31 and then He starts cleansing, and it never stops. 00:54:44.32\00:54:47.31 It continues till you close your eye. 00:54:47.32\00:54:48.91 You know, an amazing thing about that too is, 00:54:48.92\00:54:50.44 this is where both aspects are working together, 00:54:50.45\00:54:52.74 because during the entire cleaning process, 00:54:52.75\00:54:55.02 you are saved because of His Savior, yes, 00:54:55.03\00:54:58.13 experience, salvation experience. 00:54:58.14\00:55:00.81 But He is also cleaning you up. 00:55:00.82\00:55:02.76 And He is so patient, you can make mistakes 00:55:02.77\00:55:07.47 and it's not, oh, I am saved one moment 00:55:07.48\00:55:09.51 and I am not saved the next moment. 00:55:09.52\00:55:10.60 He doesn't do it, it doesn't knock you off, 00:55:10.61\00:55:12.20 the salvation platform there in the middle of the ocean. 00:55:12.21\00:55:16.71 He keeps saving you everyday. 00:55:16.72\00:55:20.30 But you grow and there is latitude for that 00:55:20.31\00:55:23.47 growth experience that He gives you 00:55:23.48\00:55:25.41 and it's the trend of the life 00:55:25.42\00:55:26.67 where you're heading. 00:55:26.68\00:55:27.93 I can't tell you how many people as pastor that I've 00:55:27.94\00:55:30.76 talked to that have said, I think I have committed 00:55:30.77\00:55:32.54 the unpardonable sin. 00:55:32.55\00:55:33.67 No, I've discourage the Lord for the last time. 00:55:33.68\00:55:37.18 He want forgive me and I point usually to the text 00:55:37.19\00:55:39.90 where Jesus says, you know, how often, 00:55:39.91\00:55:41.76 should you forgive, the disciple asked to me. 00:55:41.77\00:55:43.36 He said, I don't say seven times 00:55:43.37\00:55:45.54 but seventy times seven. 00:55:45.55\00:55:47.00 If Jesus told them that how many times 00:55:47.01\00:55:49.12 does Jesus forgive us. Oh, yes, yes, yes, yes. 00:55:49.13\00:55:51.62 And this is His grace. 00:55:51.63\00:55:53.16 This is what makes me fall in love with Jesus 00:55:53.17\00:55:56.89 initially because He saved me from sin, 00:55:56.90\00:55:58.80 but now because I'm a wreck and He is so patient. 00:55:58.81\00:56:03.76 He saves you immediately from the power of sin 00:56:05.40\00:56:07.94 then He works on saving from the presence of sin. 00:56:07.95\00:56:10.14 It saved and being saved. 00:56:10.15\00:56:12.64 Saved while you are being saved. 00:56:12.65\00:56:14.45 It's a marvelous thing and it is the initiative 00:56:14.46\00:56:16.76 of our loving Heavenly Father. 00:56:16.77\00:56:18.76 I think to that it's an aspect of preaching 00:56:18.77\00:56:22.76 that is missed today. 00:56:22.77\00:56:24.70 In Christianity at large, Lot of people talked about 00:56:24.71\00:56:28.86 how, you know, I got saved 00:56:28.87\00:56:31.25 which is really the justification experience, 00:56:31.26\00:56:33.74 but I am being saved as well and it's those that are 00:56:33.75\00:56:37.35 being saved while they got saved that are saved. 00:56:37.36\00:56:40.79 Yes, yes, yes. Very true. 00:56:40.80\00:56:43.97 And the constant needing to remember that 00:56:43.98\00:56:47.91 and stay connected I think is really, really a key. 00:56:47.92\00:56:50.39 Yeah, yeah, yeah. 00:56:50.40\00:56:51.85 This is a exciting study and I am sure your church 00:56:51.86\00:56:54.71 or preacher appreciated when you brought 00:56:54.72\00:56:57.08 that to them, because it's something that we need to 00:56:57.09\00:56:58.82 bring up every so often just to remind ourselves 00:56:58.83\00:57:01.35 of our status and standing in Christ Jesus. 00:57:01.36\00:57:03.88 Yeah. Yeah. 00:57:03.89\00:57:05.66 You know, it's such an exciting thing 00:57:05.67\00:57:07.10 to think about to that the Lord is so patient. 00:57:07.11\00:57:09.94 He has saved us but He is also continuing to save us 00:57:09.95\00:57:12.40 every day from our own self. 00:57:12.41\00:57:14.56 And I hope that maybe this has sparked some fire, 00:57:14.57\00:57:17.77 some interest in your own life 00:57:17.78\00:57:19.51 and your own experience with Jesus. 00:57:19.52\00:57:21.49 And that you can from this point 00:57:21.50\00:57:23.66 forward begin to make Jesus not just your Savior, 00:57:23.67\00:57:26.39 but the Lord of your life as well. 00:57:26.40\00:57:28.93 Trust Him today. 00:57:28.94\00:57:30.23
