Tobago. Is it Tobago? 00:01:49.40\00:01:52.65 Yeah, you're gonna get a million e-mails, 00:01:52.89\00:01:54.39 like Winnebago, it's Tobago, Tobago, 00:01:54.61\00:01:57.16 you call them Tobago man, don't come and get you. 00:01:57.35\00:01:59.15 Well, I've heard some others call it Tobago, 00:01:59.36\00:02:00.60 so I've been officially corrected. 00:02:00.82\00:02:02.28 You've been officially corrected, 00:02:02.50\00:02:03.80 thank you for that. Now I'm not gonna 00:02:04.00\00:02:06.98 give the name of the person because it's very unique 00:02:07.17\00:02:08.41 and it probably is a very few of them there, 00:02:08.63\00:02:10.40 but anyway good question, the Bible says: 00:02:10.60\00:02:13.61 And out of the ground the Lord made every tree grow 00:02:14.44\00:02:16.55 that is pleasant to the sight, and good for food; 00:02:16.76\00:02:19.07 the tree of life was also in the midst of the garden, 00:02:19.30\00:02:21.50 and the tree of knowledge of good and evil. 00:02:21.71\00:02:23.08 That's from Genesis 2:9, I understand that God 00:02:23.29\00:02:26.13 literally created every tree of the ground, 00:02:26.34\00:02:29.05 some of which were for food and some were aesthetic, 00:02:29.25\00:02:32.53 how about the tree of life 00:02:32.74\00:02:34.19 the tree of knowledge of good and evil. 00:02:34.59\00:02:36.22 Were they also literally created by God 00:02:36.43\00:02:39.38 or are they symbolic of something 00:02:40.21\00:02:41.52 and if the two trees are symbolic, 00:02:41.73\00:02:43.61 what do they symbolize? 00:02:43.84\00:02:44.81 John, interesting question because 00:02:45.00\00:02:47.02 it's kind of a trick question, 00:02:47.21\00:02:48.18 they were literally created to provide a quick answer 00:02:48.33\00:02:51.22 and they're symbolic of something, 00:02:51.44\00:02:53.00 right, so they're both, and here is why 00:02:53.22\00:02:57.56 I say that first of all the literal part, 00:02:57.77\00:02:59.22 clearly these tress are there that Adam and Eve, 00:02:59.44\00:03:03.87 they're in the garden of Eden. 00:03:04.07\00:03:05.68 That Adam and Eve have an experience with, 00:03:05.89\00:03:08.22 in another words they are physical, they exist, 00:03:08.65\00:03:11.29 they're part of the garden 00:03:11.49\00:03:13.42 and clearly they had fruit on them. 00:03:13.64\00:03:17.16 The fruit for the tree of life was to give them 00:03:17.37\00:03:21.85 immortality and vitality, 00:03:22.06\00:03:24.55 it was to enhance their life experience. 00:03:24.76\00:03:27.69 Of course we depend upon life from God. 00:03:27.90\00:03:30.27 So, but he used this tree as a mechanism to bring 00:03:30.47\00:03:34.64 about their dependence upon God, 00:03:34.86\00:03:37.01 so in a way the tree of life is a way to tell 00:03:37.23\00:03:40.18 Adam and Eve and will be one day restored 00:03:40.37\00:03:41.97 for all mankind, is a way to tell us that 00:03:42.18\00:03:44.80 no matter what, we need God to provide for our needs. 00:03:45.02\00:03:48.42 That's right, we depend upon him 00:03:48.62\00:03:49.77 and so that was the tree of life. 00:03:50.01\00:03:53.14 Now in both its literal sense and its symbolic sense. 00:03:53.35\00:03:56.52 Now, let's talk about the tree of knowledge 00:03:56.73\00:03:57.78 of good and evil, yes there's a literal tree, 00:03:57.98\00:04:00.96 the serpent was in it. Eve came to its proximity, 00:04:01.15\00:04:06.34 so it exited in a place in the, 00:04:09.54\00:04:10.51 which is in the middle of the garden, 00:04:10.52\00:04:11.49 or the midst of the garden. Also it symbolized, 00:04:11.50\00:04:14.76 it symbolized as a test to Adam and Eve. 00:04:14.95\00:04:20.96 It symbolized faithfulness and loyalty to God or not. 00:04:21.16\00:04:25.62 And so in another words God gave it to them 00:04:25.84\00:04:27.78 as a test to see whether or not they would trust him 00:04:27.98\00:04:29.99 and follow him and so they were to eat 00:04:30.20\00:04:33.49 of the tree of life, but they were not to eat 00:04:33.70\00:04:35.18 of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil 00:04:35.39\00:04:36.92 to make sure that they did not disobey God. 00:04:37.12\00:04:38.46 So in that way the tree of knowledge 00:04:38.68\00:04:40.53 of good and evil was symbolic. 00:04:40.74\00:04:42.01 But here's something I wanna say about this question 00:04:42.23\00:04:46.29 because there are other questions we receive 00:04:46.50\00:04:48.52 that are very similar to this in another way. 00:04:48.74\00:04:50.61 I fear today John, that many teachings of the church 00:04:50.82\00:04:57.31 from scripture, splinter groups, all kinds of things, 00:04:57.52\00:05:01.25 they want to spiritualize the Bible, 00:05:01.45\00:05:04.50 to the point of reading the meanings rather than 00:05:04.70\00:05:09.95 actually taking things literally and I believe 00:05:10.15\00:05:13.29 it's a challenge, that's not even the right word. 00:05:13.50\00:05:16.63 It's a strategy of the enemy. 00:05:16.84\00:05:19.52 That he is trying to get us to spiritualize things 00:05:19.72\00:05:24.00 away rather then seeing the literal aspect 00:05:24.21\00:05:27.62 of much of scripture and here's why I say that, 00:05:27.82\00:05:31.55 because when we spiritualize, 00:05:31.76\00:05:34.15 we often integrate our own thoughts and ideas 00:05:34.38\00:05:38.23 as to what something means. But when we take 00:05:38.44\00:05:42.11 God's word literally and we look for the meaning, 00:05:42.31\00:05:45.40 the spiritual application of the literal 00:05:45.60\00:05:47.64 we're looking in scripture for the symbols 00:05:47.85\00:05:50.83 and the meanings okay. But often if you go then to, 00:05:51.04\00:05:54.54 to some of these things like even for instance 00:05:55.37\00:05:57.60 this here the tree of knowledge of good 00:05:57.79\00:05:59.51 and evil, if you spiritualize that away 00:05:59.69\00:06:01.32 then the whole story of the fall of man is just, 00:06:02.15\00:06:05.93 it loses it's oomph, it loses it's value, 00:06:06.13\00:06:09.53 it's loses it's lesson. Because you're taking, 00:06:09.73\00:06:12.43 you're calling it something spiritual, 00:06:12.63\00:06:14.05 we actually, the question I would have to ask 00:06:14.25\00:06:16.49 then would be well then how did Adam and Eve fall? 00:06:16.68\00:06:19.84 If the knowledge of true knowledge of good and evil 00:06:20.87\00:06:23.01 is just about a symbol of being faithful to God, 00:06:23.21\00:06:25.65 well then how are they unfaithful? 00:06:25.84\00:06:26.95 If it wasn't a real fruit that they ate from the tree, 00:06:27.18\00:06:30.61 that's right, see so in many ways I think today 00:06:30.82\00:06:33.91 and I believe prophecy we're seeing this 00:06:34.13\00:06:35.92 in a way too, even in the book of Revelation 00:06:36.11\00:06:37.80 and John and I, you and I've studied this, 00:06:38.01\00:06:39.63 it's one of our hobbies. 00:06:39.84\00:06:40.81 But I believe someone spiritualize or you know, 00:06:40.90\00:06:44.91 that's the word, spiritualize away, 00:06:45.16\00:06:47.18 so much that they miss the literal application 00:06:47.38\00:06:51.81 of what a lot of the word of God is really saying. 00:06:52.05\00:06:55.83 And I think it's dangerous, that's why when you look 00:06:57.00\00:07:00.00 at the symbolic application of what you've just 00:07:00.18\00:07:02.06 talked about there and making a important 00:07:02.24\00:07:04.12 you know in Matthew 7 verse 17 the Bible says: 00:07:04.31\00:07:08.54 Even so every good tree brings forth good fruit, 00:07:08.73\00:07:12.39 so that tree that, the tree of life is a good tree, 00:07:12.58\00:07:16.11 it brought forth good fruit. 00:07:16.31\00:07:17.88 But the tree of the knowledge of good 00:07:18.07\00:07:20.29 and evil was not a good tree right. 00:07:20.47\00:07:23.24 In the sense that the results of taking 00:07:23.45\00:07:25.53 of its fruit were not good results right. 00:07:25.72\00:07:28.41 Now, the Lord made the tree as a test, 00:07:28.61\00:07:31.20 the tree was not a bad tree but anymore then, 00:07:32.05\00:07:36.44 hey great illustration, anymore then your car 00:07:36.64\00:07:40.44 doesn't belong to me, 00:07:40.64\00:07:41.69 doesn't make your car a bad car. 00:07:41.88\00:07:44.14 But it makes my taking of it, right, 00:07:45.32\00:07:47.39 a bad act and so that's the context over here, 00:07:47.58\00:07:50.24 somebody we went to dinner with him yesterday 00:07:50.45\00:07:53.60 at the Chinese restaurant and you know 00:07:53.80\00:07:55.88 we got our sesame tofu and our brown rice 00:07:56.07\00:07:58.92 and our lo mein, are you getting hungry? 00:07:59.12\00:08:00.47 And when they were leaving they said well 00:08:00.68\00:08:03.09 where are my keys and they couldn't find it 00:08:03.29\00:08:06.11 when they went outside out here in the Midwest. 00:08:06.31\00:08:08.69 They discovered their keys were still in the ignition 00:08:10.89\00:08:13.25 and I thought if they were in New York, 00:08:14.58\00:08:16.26 it wouldn't be there. If they were in any major city, 00:08:16.48\00:08:21.24 New York, Los Angeles, Florida, any metropolis 00:08:21.44\00:08:24.81 somebody would have noticed those keys there 00:08:25.02\00:08:26.95 and in the same example they would have taken 00:08:27.16\00:08:30.23 from something that doesn't belong to them. 00:08:30.43\00:08:32.64 Nothing wrong with that person's car, 00:08:32.86\00:08:34.97 the car is not bad but the act of taking from it 00:08:35.17\00:08:37.46 when it doesn't belong to them made the act bad. 00:08:37.66\00:08:40.76 The fruit, the end result, the fruit became 00:08:40.99\00:08:42.80 evil fruit, nothing wrong with the car. 00:08:42.99\00:08:44.99 And so in the same way you have to keep in mind 00:08:45.19\00:08:47.23 that that's not a spiritual act 00:08:47.43\00:08:49.58 but it has a spiritual consequence, 00:08:49.80\00:08:51.83 it's a literal act with the spiritual consequence. 00:08:52.03\00:08:54.18 A literal tree with a spiritual consequence, 00:08:54.41\00:08:56.80 right, right yeah, very important, very important 00:08:57.01\00:09:00.35 and we need to be careful, I would say 00:09:00.57\00:09:02.15 with the spiritual aspects we need to be careful 00:09:02.35\00:09:03.82 at having private interpretations of scripture. 00:09:04.01\00:09:07.26 Make sure that if you were gonna spiritualize 00:09:07.46\00:09:09.04 or you're going to the, you look at the symbolic 00:09:09.25\00:09:11.24 meaning of something that you're doing it 00:09:12.00\00:09:13.12 in the harmony with the rest of scripture, 00:09:13.31\00:09:14.87 the scripture itself is revealing 00:09:15.07\00:09:16.85 to you what that meaning is. 00:09:17.05\00:09:18.32 Here is another question which is a very good one, 00:09:19.35\00:09:21.06 how can you tell Biblically that the church 00:09:21.26\00:09:24.85 of this time is Laodicean and when it begin, 00:09:25.06\00:09:28.76 what time period do the other six churches cover? 00:09:28.97\00:09:32.75 There is a wonderful, there is a wonderful piece 00:09:32.96\00:09:36.04 of literature that you can get from 00:09:36.23\00:09:38.77 seminars unlimited, you may go 00:09:38.97\00:09:41.51 seminars unlimited on the Internet. 00:09:41.71\00:09:43.50 And there is some material under 00:09:43.70\00:09:48.20 the Revelation seminar materials that have the 00:09:48.40\00:09:50.74 literal outline of the seven churches 00:09:50.97\00:09:52.84 and their time periods. 00:09:53.04\00:09:54.39 To be very candid and just to concise them, 00:09:54.59\00:09:56.86 Ephesus was the first one, the New Testament Church, 00:09:57.07\00:10:00.06 Laodicean is the last one and between the first 00:10:00.27\00:10:03.74 and the last there were the five others, 00:10:03.94\00:10:05.74 right okay that's just the very quick summary. 00:10:05.95\00:10:07.55 As for the beginning of the date of one 00:10:07.76\00:10:09.81 and the ending date of the other, 00:10:10.02\00:10:11.11 obviously there are no 8th, 00:10:11.32\00:10:12.99 there is no 8th church, not mentioned in Revelation. 00:10:13.20\00:10:16.26 So, the 8th church is not gonna be 00:10:17.08\00:10:19.20 in the condition of any other first seven, 00:10:19.39\00:10:20.82 the 8th one is gonna be the church triumphant. 00:10:22.21\00:10:25.22 Right now from one all the way to seven 00:10:25.46\00:10:28.83 is the church militant, 00:10:29.03\00:10:30.78 they're in the midst of a battle, 00:10:30.99\00:10:32.60 a battle between sin and life. 00:10:32.81\00:10:35.57 A battle between truth and error, 00:10:35.78\00:10:38.01 a battle between light and darkness, 00:10:38.20\00:10:39.83 but the worse condition is Laodicea 00:10:40.04\00:10:42.60 and to be very candid about that, Laodicea, 00:10:42.80\00:10:44.90 my history maybe a little out of whack here 00:10:45.09\00:10:47.51 but after the disappointment of 1844 00:10:47.71\00:10:50.71 when the early advent, not Seventh-Day Adventist, 00:10:50.92\00:10:54.53 right. But the early advent believers believed that 00:10:54.72\00:10:57.93 Christ was coming in 1844 after that disappointment 00:10:58.13\00:11:00.88 began a period of Laodicea, where the church 00:11:01.10\00:11:03.57 went through many, many faces. 00:11:03.77\00:11:04.87 The church began to grow and what happened 00:11:05.08\00:11:06.86 the church grew in two different directions 00:11:07.06\00:11:09.00 those who were pure in their motives 00:11:09.20\00:11:11.58 but those who literally rejected truth 00:11:11.79\00:11:14.52 but considered themselves to still be pure 00:11:14.73\00:11:16.96 and that's the description 00:11:17.16\00:11:18.63 that you find in the church of Laodicea. 00:11:18.83\00:11:20.87 If you have your Bibles go with me to 00:11:21.06\00:11:22.24 Revelation chapter 3 and verse 14 00:11:22.47\00:11:24.54 and notice the application of how 00:11:24.74\00:11:26.79 the Lord describes this, what is diabolical about 00:11:26.98\00:11:29.57 the church of Laodicea and by the way 00:11:29.75\00:11:31.15 it's the last one, so I'm suggesting to you 00:11:31.35\00:11:35.34 it began somewhat after 1844, 00:11:35.53\00:11:37.44 the time period that began 00:11:37.65\00:11:40.01 the final push of the final gospel. 00:11:40.19\00:11:42.02 We're living in the last days we're living 00:11:42.23\00:11:43.69 in the time of the Laodicean condition. 00:11:43.88\00:11:46.50 And let me broadened that, not just, 00:11:46.71\00:11:48.85 this is no particular denomination, but this is 00:11:49.04\00:11:52.43 Christianity or Christendom in general, 00:11:52.65\00:11:54.89 notice the description. Verse 14: 00:11:55.12\00:11:58.98 And unto the angel of the church 00:11:59.17\00:12:00.54 of the Laodiceans write; 00:12:00.76\00:12:02.54 These things says the Amen, 00:12:02.76\00:12:04.74 the faithful and true witness, 00:12:04.95\00:12:06.89 the beginning of the creation of God; 00:12:07.10\00:12:09.32 I know thy works, thou art neither cold nor hot: 00:12:09.53\00:12:15.01 I would thou were cold or hot. 00:12:15.23\00:12:18.12 So then because thou art lukewarm, 00:12:18.33\00:12:20.92 and neither cold nor hot, 00:12:21.13\00:12:22.58 I will spew you out of my mouth. 00:12:22.80\00:12:24.82 And here's the condition, because you say 00:12:25.03\00:12:28.17 I'm rich verse 17 and increased with goods, 00:12:28.39\00:12:30.68 and have need of nothing; 00:12:30.91\00:12:31.88 look at the churches today John. 00:12:31.93\00:12:33.41 Wealthy churches, magnificent temples, 00:12:33.62\00:12:36.58 magnificent stadium nice churches, 00:12:36.77\00:12:38.46 we called them mega churches nowadays 00:12:38.66\00:12:40.46 and somebody even use a phrase gigachurch, 00:12:40.66\00:12:42.15 I think a mega church is five thousand members, 00:12:42.35\00:12:44.34 when you get to 20 and 30,000 00:12:44.56\00:12:45.92 and that's a gigachurch. That's huge, 00:12:46.12\00:12:48.20 that's a stadium, I mean how do you visit 00:12:48.40\00:12:49.76 30,000 members yeah, but the condition is we believe 00:12:49.94\00:12:54.38 that we are rich and increased with goods 00:12:54.59\00:12:55.95 and have need of nothing. 00:12:56.16\00:12:57.63 But the saddest of all is that we don't know 00:12:59.14\00:13:02.65 that we are wretched, miserable, poor, blind 00:13:02.85\00:13:07.00 and naked, that's the condition of the church, 00:13:07.22\00:13:09.50 it doesn't even know how in despair it is. 00:13:09.69\00:13:11.65 So, we're living in that day and age 00:13:11.85\00:13:13.42 but there is a remedy for the church of Laodicea 00:13:13.62\00:13:16.22 and the Lord is saying: 00:13:16.42\00:13:17.52 'Buy from me gold tried in the fire, 00:13:17.71\00:13:19.76 have true faith that you may be rich. 00:13:19.96\00:13:22.18 Have true righteousness, white raiment 00:13:22.38\00:13:25.02 and also anoint your eyes that you'll really 00:13:25.22\00:13:28.14 see the truth rather than thinking that you see 00:13:28.33\00:13:30.38 but your eyes are really covered over.' 00:13:30.57\00:13:31.98 And the reason why this message is so 00:13:32.82\00:13:35.00 directed because the Lord says: 00:13:35.20\00:13:36.33 "As many as I love, I rebuke and I chasten. 00:13:36.53\00:13:39.34 So, therefore be zealous and repent." 00:13:39.55\00:13:41.72 So the church is in a bad condition John 00:13:41.94\00:13:44.31 and God is saying to us all it's time to repent 00:13:44.52\00:13:47.04 and he's standing at the door, Jesus is standing 00:13:47.25\00:13:49.70 at the door knocking for the church to wake up. 00:13:49.90\00:13:51.87 And that's in these last days, 00:13:52.08\00:13:53.26 so many churches are asleep, 00:13:53.46\00:13:54.94 that's why the truth doesn't seem to be 00:13:55.17\00:13:57.13 popular opinion or a popular focus 00:13:57.33\00:13:59.57 for the churches of the last days, right. 00:13:59.76\00:14:01.41 And the reason why we believe that each church 00:14:01.61\00:14:03.45 represents a time period, a time period 00:14:03.67\00:14:06.01 as we go from Christ ascension down through 00:14:06.21\00:14:09.76 the very end of time where he returns 00:14:09.95\00:14:11.13 is because of the Bible's own historicist 00:14:11.34\00:14:14.35 approach to prophecy itself, right. 00:14:14.55\00:14:16.33 We read in Daniel, we see the four kingdoms, 00:14:16.53\00:14:18.08 consecutive kingdoms, one after the other. 00:14:18.29\00:14:20.14 That's an historicist approach to Bible 00:14:20.35\00:14:22.92 interpretation of Bible prophecy. 00:14:23.12\00:14:24.52 So we know that with the seven churches 00:14:24.73\00:14:26.54 they're historical throughout time 00:14:26.75\00:14:28.56 and we're in those last days we're Laodiceans. 00:14:28.69\00:14:31.16 That's right, also seven conditions very good part, 00:14:31.35\00:14:33.92 what I want to do today John a little differently 00:14:34.13\00:14:36.10 and instead of go into another question 00:14:36.29\00:14:37.63 unless you have a short one. 00:14:37.84\00:14:40.09 No, let's go right into our topic, 00:14:40.29\00:14:41.51 let's go into our topic today friends, 00:14:41.72\00:14:42.96 we have a topic that is so vitally important, 00:14:43.16\00:14:44.80 we didn't wanna get away from a matter of fact 00:14:45.00\00:14:47.49 possibly completing the most, most important aspect 00:14:47.68\00:14:51.27 of this topic today which is about shadows. 00:14:51.47\00:14:54.22 Shadows of things to come. 00:14:54.42\00:14:55.92 So if you have any questions you like to send 00:14:56.13\00:14:58.50 to us, you can send those questions to 00:14:58.70\00:15:00.25 House Calls, that's housecalls@3abn.org, 00:15:00.45\00:15:03.36 that's housecalls@3abn.org and we thank you again 00:15:03.56\00:15:08.89 for you questions and your comments 00:15:09.10\00:15:10.91 and even those who get excited and try to write 00:15:11.12\00:15:14.39 us a thesis we appreciate those too. 00:15:14.58\00:15:16.88 It always gives us something 00:15:17.09\00:15:18.35 to think about, right John? That's right. 00:15:18.54\00:15:20.22 Now, our springboard text, passage 00:15:20.43\00:15:24.00 I should say is Colossians chapter 2, okay, 00:15:24.20\00:15:26.84 why don't you read that again for us. 00:15:27.05\00:15:28.13 And so I'm gonna read here from 13 onto 17 00:15:28.34\00:15:31.26 we'll read Colossians 2 and we'll go a little 00:15:31.48\00:15:33.89 different direction here that we went 00:15:34.08\00:15:35.24 last time in our last program: 00:15:35.43\00:15:37.52 "And you, being dead in your trespasses 00:15:37.73\00:15:39.72 and the uncircumcision of your flesh, 00:15:39.93\00:15:41.52 He has made alive together with Him, 00:15:41.72\00:15:43.60 having forgiven you all trespasses, 00:15:43.82\00:15:46.35 having wiped out the handwriting 00:15:46.55\00:15:48.57 of requirements that was against us, 00:15:48.77\00:15:50.37 which was contrary to us. 00:15:50.57\00:15:52.52 And He has taken it out of the way, 00:15:52.71\00:15:54.44 having nailed it to the cross. 00:15:54.65\00:15:55.73 Having disarmed principalities and powers, 00:15:55.93\00:15:58.61 He made a public spectacle of them, 00:15:58.80\00:16:00.21 triumphing over them in it. 00:16:00.42\00:16:02.45 So let no one judge you in food or in drink, 00:16:02.65\00:16:06.32 or regarding festival or a new moon or Sabbaths, 00:16:06.52\00:16:09.03 which are a shadow of things to come, 00:16:09.24\00:16:11.64 but the substance is of Christ." 00:16:11.84\00:16:14.40 And if you recall last, last program we talked about 00:16:15.97\00:16:18.98 that how these things identified in verse 16 00:16:19.18\00:16:22.65 which include the Sabbaths, 00:16:22.85\00:16:24.16 were shadows of things to come 00:16:26.67\00:16:28.16 and how the Seventh-Day Sabbath, 00:16:28.99\00:16:30.88 one Sabbath, weekly Sabbath was that creation 00:16:31.09\00:16:35.74 and not a shadow of anything, right. 00:16:35.95\00:16:37.75 But was include within the Decalogue, 00:16:37.96\00:16:39.64 separate or apart from the laws of Moses, 00:16:39.86\00:16:43.37 the ceremonial laws of Moses. 00:16:43.57\00:16:44.93 So, that's how far we got last Sabbath, 00:16:45.13\00:16:47.30 I mean last program and so this program 00:16:47.52\00:16:50.12 what we would like to do is take a look 00:16:50.32\00:16:51.76 at the context little more deeply of what Paul 00:16:51.96\00:16:54.39 was really saying with regard to these ordinances 00:16:54.61\00:16:57.86 okay or requirements and John, 00:16:58.08\00:17:01.15 I think if you wanna read Ephesians 2, okay. 00:17:01.36\00:17:03.96 It does mention ordinances in the New King James 00:17:04.16\00:17:07.47 translation there and then we can go straight 00:17:07.69\00:17:10.34 from that as to what, what Paul is referring to. 00:17:10.54\00:17:13.25 And by the way as we, as we look at this text 00:17:13.45\00:17:16.15 in Ephesians chapter 2 and looking at verse, 00:17:16.36\00:17:19.17 let's start with verse 14, matter of fact verse 13 00:17:19.38\00:17:25.68 even gives us once again a glimpse into the shadow, 00:17:25.89\00:17:28.63 yeah okay, here we go. 00:17:28.84\00:17:29.88 But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far off 00:17:30.63\00:17:34.43 have been brought near by the blood of Christ. 00:17:34.64\00:17:39.20 We're gonna talk about that blood in just a moment, 00:17:39.40\00:17:40.72 the blood is a shadow. For he himself is our peace, 00:17:40.93\00:17:44.46 who has made both one, and has broken down the 00:17:44.69\00:17:48.73 middle wall of separation or the partition, 00:17:49.12\00:17:52.17 remember, I think we mentioned this, 00:17:52.38\00:17:54.69 it's the veil, the veil and the temple 00:17:54.90\00:17:56.39 was torn revealing the inside, presence of God, 00:17:56.58\00:18:02.17 by the presence of God the altar of sacrifice, 00:18:02.37\00:18:04.82 the altar of burned offerings where that 00:18:05.03\00:18:06.35 lamb was about to be killed. 00:18:06.55\00:18:07.52 It was, it was torn from top to bottom, 00:18:07.53\00:18:09.41 no longer a wall and notice the impact 00:18:09.61\00:18:12.93 in the description of what exactly happened. 00:18:13.13\00:18:15.06 Verse 15: Having abolished in His flesh the enmity, 00:18:15.26\00:18:22.20 that is the law of commandments contained 00:18:22.42\00:18:25.89 in ordinances, so as to create in Himself 00:18:26.10\00:18:29.35 one new man from the two, thus making peace, 00:18:29.56\00:18:32.85 and that He might reconcile them both 00:18:33.07\00:18:36.08 to God in one body through the cross, 00:18:36.28\00:18:39.45 thereby putting to death the enmity. 00:18:39.66\00:18:43.16 What I wanna point out here is notice 00:18:43.37\00:18:45.64 how he says the law of commandments, 00:18:45.84\00:18:46.92 but he doesn't stop there and one of the problems is, 00:18:48.18\00:18:51.51 one of the problems is people think of the 00:18:51.73\00:18:54.24 law of commandments as the Ten Commandments. 00:18:54.45\00:18:56.61 No, the law of commandments contained in ordinances. 00:18:56.80\00:19:01.36 Go with us right now to Hebrews 9 00:19:01.56\00:19:03.27 and then we're gonna jump around a little bit here 00:19:03.47\00:19:05.64 but I remember pointing out and I will use my 00:19:05.86\00:19:07.82 illustration again, if you didn't get the other 00:19:08.02\00:19:09.81 program I wanna use it again but Hebrews 9 John, 00:19:10.00\00:19:12.36 I want you to look at verse 1 00:19:12.56\00:19:14.00 and what we're gonna do friends here 00:19:14.21\00:19:15.60 Colossians 2 referred to it as shadows, 00:19:15.80\00:19:18.67 Ephesians 2 referred to it as ordinances 00:19:18.88\00:19:22.39 and both of them by the way depending 00:19:22.59\00:19:23.92 on the translation talk about handwriting 00:19:24.13\00:19:28.20 of requirements or ordinances 00:19:28.42\00:19:29.82 that were against us, right. 00:19:30.03\00:19:31.64 And before, the second law, 00:19:31.85\00:19:33.42 the companion law of the two, 00:19:33.64\00:19:35.96 the Decalogue and the Law of Moses 00:19:36.18\00:19:37.89 and the ceremonies, before you read that 00:19:38.11\00:19:40.06 I wanna make this point, when the Lord established 00:19:40.27\00:19:42.50 the ceremonial laws in the Old Testament. 00:19:42.71\00:19:44.72 You may remember even before, 00:19:44.93\00:19:46.84 even before Sinai sacrifices were given, 00:19:47.04\00:19:50.27 Abraham and Isaac, he took Isaac to the mountain 00:19:50.47\00:19:53.52 to sacrifice him and the question was ask by Isaac 00:19:53.74\00:19:56.56 Lord, Father, where is the lamb, 00:19:56.77\00:19:58.71 where is the sacrifice? 00:19:58.92\00:19:59.89 And Abraham said, God will provide himself a lamb. 00:20:00.56\00:20:04.39 Now, I want you to get that, depending on where 00:20:04.60\00:20:06.56 you put the comma, it could be God 00:20:06.76\00:20:07.99 will provide himself a lamb, you see the lamb 00:20:08.20\00:20:12.15 was the focus and it is the focus, 00:20:12.37\00:20:14.76 but the lamb, the literal animal lamb 00:20:14.97\00:20:17.06 was the focus in the Old Testament, 00:20:17.28\00:20:19.03 but that lamb prefigured was the shadow 00:20:19.23\00:20:21.74 of the Christ to come. So, when John saw 00:20:21.95\00:20:24.76 Jesus coming, he says behold the lamb of God 00:20:24.97\00:20:27.58 that taketh away the sin of the world. 00:20:27.79\00:20:29.63 There was no need, John didn't baptize 00:20:29.84\00:20:31.92 a four legged creature he baptized Jesus, 00:20:32.12\00:20:35.12 that's right. You see and everyone within the year 00:20:35.33\00:20:37.89 short of that, the image of the lamb 00:20:38.10\00:20:40.88 that sacrificed in these ceremonies that they had 00:20:41.10\00:20:43.84 been doing for 1500 years at least formally, 00:20:44.03\00:20:46.92 that written in the Law of Moses, 00:20:47.12\00:20:49.77 those things immediately came to mind 00:20:49.98\00:20:52.84 and so those were powerful words of John. 00:20:53.03\00:20:55.82 It jumped out at them yeah, they knew the lamb, 00:20:56.04\00:20:59.31 the Jews that were at the banks of the river, 00:20:59.53\00:21:01.93 the lamb, what do you mean the lamb? 00:21:02.15\00:21:03.91 How could this man be a lamb? 00:21:04.10\00:21:05.14 They didn't catch it right away, but go ahead 00:21:06.07\00:21:08.37 and read Hebrews 9 and verse 1, verse 10, 00:21:08.56\00:21:12.39 down to verse 14 follow us very carefully friends. 00:21:12.60\00:21:16.01 We're talking about ordinances here. 00:21:16.21\00:21:17.74 Verse 1 of Hebrews 9: 00:21:17.94\00:21:20.69 Then indeed, even the first covenant 00:21:20.89\00:21:22.88 had ordinances of divine service 00:21:23.09\00:21:24.89 and the earthly sanctuary. 00:21:25.10\00:21:27.22 So, the first thing we need to say there is 00:21:28.37\00:21:30.11 that the old covenant was based on the earthly 00:21:30.31\00:21:32.14 sanctuary as differentiated from the heavenly 00:21:32.38\00:21:37.42 sanctuary which is spoken of in great detail 00:21:37.63\00:21:40.46 here by the author of Hebrews. 00:21:40.67\00:21:41.85 Verse 10 concerned only with foods and drinks, 00:21:42.05\00:21:47.83 various washings, and fleshly ordinances 00:21:48.03\00:21:50.79 imposed until the time of reformation. 00:21:50.99\00:21:55.15 Okay, Galatians 3:19, remember that yes: 00:21:55.35\00:21:57.92 The law was added till the seed should come, 00:21:58.12\00:22:00.39 right, the law was added till the seed should come 00:22:00.59\00:22:03.13 and you find the same language in the verse 00:22:03.33\00:22:04.94 you just read, recap that so we don't run pass that. 00:22:05.12\00:22:07.93 Which one you're talking about? 00:22:08.51\00:22:10.62 The verse you just read until. 00:22:10.98\00:22:11.95 Yes until concerned only with foods and drinks, 00:22:11.97\00:22:15.58 various washings, and fleshly ordinances 00:22:15.78\00:22:17.60 imposed until the time of reformation. 00:22:17.80\00:22:19.73 And now look at this: But Christ came as High Priest 00:22:19.94\00:22:23.66 of the good things to come, with the greater 00:22:23.88\00:22:26.96 and more perfect tabernacle not made with hands, 00:22:27.18\00:22:30.22 that is not of this creation. 00:22:30.43\00:22:31.69 Not with the blood of goats and calves, 00:22:32.47\00:22:34.42 but with His own blood He entered the Most Holy Place 00:22:34.63\00:22:36.94 once for all, having obtained eternal redemption. 00:22:37.15\00:22:40.02 For if the blood of bulls and of goats, 00:22:40.23\00:22:42.35 and the ashes of the heifer sprinkling, the unclean 00:22:42.55\00:22:45.04 sanctifieth to the purifying of the flesh: 00:22:45.20\00:22:47.01 How much more shall the blood of Christ, 00:22:47.23\00:22:49.09 who through the eternal Spirit offered himself 00:22:49.30\00:22:51.91 without spot to God, cleanse your conscience from 00:22:52.13\00:22:54.77 dead works to serve the living God. 00:22:54.97\00:22:56.76 Okay, notice he talks about, the Bible talks about 00:22:56.96\00:22:59.07 dead works here, the dead works were which for what 00:22:59.27\00:23:02.74 dead literally dead, dead animals, that's right. 00:23:02.94\00:23:05.70 Bullocks and goats and pigeons, literally dead, 00:23:05.90\00:23:10.46 I mean in the sense these things could 00:23:10.68\00:23:13.24 never excuse me, could never make those who 00:23:13.44\00:23:16.20 perform this clean of course these were dead animals. 00:23:16.48\00:23:20.06 But what they meant just like that Jordan River 00:23:20.27\00:23:23.15 when Naaman was told to dip seven times, 00:23:23.36\00:23:25.80 his complain was that Jordan is muddy. 00:23:26.01\00:23:28.93 It wasn't the Jordan; it was the faith 00:23:30.12\00:23:32.28 and what it meant, obedience in Christ, 00:23:32.48\00:23:35.00 right was where the cleansing came from. 00:23:35.21\00:23:36.86 So, in the same way these animals 00:23:37.08\00:23:38.39 were not clean in of themselves, 00:23:38.59\00:23:40.10 they had to be without blemish, 00:23:40.32\00:23:41.75 they couldn't have broken legs, 00:23:41.95\00:23:42.92 they couldn't have cuts, they couldn't have disease 00:23:43.13\00:23:44.64 because they had to represent Christ. 00:23:44.86\00:23:47.02 But I wanna also add something John, 00:23:47.24\00:23:49.68 did you read down to verse 14? 00:23:49.89\00:23:51.21 Yes, but this whole passage friends and we didn't 00:23:51.63\00:23:56.26 read verse 9 did we? No, read verse 9 00:23:56.46\00:23:59.47 because there is a part there that really emphasis 00:23:59.67\00:24:01.60 how important this shadow was. 00:24:01.81\00:24:03.16 It was symbolic for the present time in which 00:24:03.36\00:24:06.18 both gifts and sacrifices are offered 00:24:06.38\00:24:08.12 which cannot make him who perform 00:24:08.32\00:24:09.81 the service perfect in regard to the conscience. 00:24:10.02\00:24:12.31 Okay, so it was for the time then present yeah, 00:24:12.53\00:24:14.78 exactly. In fact if you look at 1 chapter before that, 00:24:15.00\00:24:18.82 in fact look at Hebrews 8 verse 13: 00:24:21.42\00:24:24.86 In that He says, A new covenant, 00:24:25.07\00:24:27.22 He has made the first obsolete. 00:24:27.42\00:24:29.10 Now what is becoming obsolete and growing 00:24:30.10\00:24:32.76 old is ready to vanish away. 00:24:32.95\00:24:34.28 There it is, so the former things, 00:24:34.50\00:24:36.36 those ceremonies are what is vanishing away 00:24:36.56\00:24:39.13 or what has become absolute, why? 00:24:39.34\00:24:41.23 Because Jesus, the high priest is here in type, 00:24:42.05\00:24:46.25 other words reality, the real is here 00:24:46.46\00:24:49.03 it's not a shadow anymore. 00:24:49.22\00:24:50.19 Jesus is here by his own blood, 00:24:50.36\00:24:52.02 he now ministers not in the earthly sanctuary John, 00:24:52.22\00:24:55.14 let's talk about this in just a minute right. 00:24:55.35\00:24:56.86 In the heavenly sanctuary, now this is a concept 00:24:57.07\00:25:00.21 that most of Christendom does not 00:25:00.43\00:25:02.83 have a developed theology for okay. 00:25:03.05\00:25:07.49 We hear a lot on systematic theology, 00:25:07.70\00:25:10.86 the systematic theology without the sanctuary, 00:25:11.06\00:25:13.71 you're missing most of it. 00:25:13.94\00:25:16.35 You're missing the system, 00:25:16.55\00:25:17.52 you're missing the system, good point 00:25:17.67\00:25:19.96 and so the issue here is that the system of the old 00:25:20.17\00:25:23.44 is meant to teach them what Christ is gonna do anew. 00:25:23.65\00:25:26.78 But when Christ comes you don't need to do the old 00:25:27.64\00:25:30.44 anymore but you have the new and I think today 00:25:30.65\00:25:33.75 what Christendom has done in this faulty 00:25:33.96\00:25:37.84 systematic theology is that they've, they've taken 00:25:38.05\00:25:42.54 the old, Old Testament, Old Covenant, ceremonies 00:25:42.75\00:25:46.13 and they've totally done away with it 00:25:46.34\00:25:48.39 to the point where doing away with 00:25:48.58\00:25:49.90 it isn't what this is intended to mean. 00:25:50.09\00:25:51.66 They put it out of their mind, 00:25:51.87\00:25:53.51 they say it has no application, 00:25:53.72\00:25:55.56 that there is no instruction in it, 00:25:55.76\00:25:57.16 but what we're saying to you today 00:25:57.36\00:25:59.26 is that God's plan of salvation began then 00:25:59.46\00:26:02.59 and is a plan that has been carried out over time 00:26:02.81\00:26:05.45 that includes Christ in the New Covenant, 00:26:05.65\00:26:08.21 it is one grand covenant, it's the everlasting 00:26:08.42\00:26:11.86 covenant in old and new phases. 00:26:12.08\00:26:14.50 And it's important for us to understand the old 00:26:15.20\00:26:17.61 and the new although the old is absolute 00:26:17.80\00:26:19.62 with it's performance it does have good application 00:26:19.82\00:26:23.00 with understanding the new ministry, 00:26:23.20\00:26:24.70 the new covenant ministry of Christ. 00:26:24.93\00:26:26.64 And so that when anybody tells you and John, 00:26:27.40\00:26:31.00 I've heard this before and I know you have too. 00:26:31.18\00:26:33.00 When we're talking about you know the Sabbath 00:26:33.20\00:26:35.31 or we're talking about the commandments are important 00:26:35.53\00:26:38.14 to keep you know a lot of people will say, 00:26:38.33\00:26:41.07 a lot of folk will say well I'm New Testament Christian. 00:26:41.27\00:26:44.58 Oh! John I was very waiting for you to stop talking 00:26:44.78\00:26:46.47 so I could say that, okay but that's how 00:26:46.68\00:26:48.29 the Lord is connecting with us. 00:26:48.48\00:26:49.45 I'm a New Testament Christian, isn't that amazing? 00:26:49.66\00:26:51.38 Yeah, you're gonna say the same thing go ahead 00:26:51.59\00:26:54.07 but you say it right now, praise the Lord. 00:26:54.25\00:26:55.51 I'm a New Testament Christian 00:26:55.73\00:26:57.35 and what are they actually saying by that. 00:26:57.56\00:26:59.56 They're saying I don't adhere to anything 00:26:59.76\00:27:02.62 or don't really read the Old Testament 00:27:02.82\00:27:04.89 or think of it in terms of instructing 00:27:05.09\00:27:08.98 my overall Christian faith and experience. 00:27:09.17\00:27:10.97 Right, I've heard people say that well 00:27:11.18\00:27:12.69 in the Old Testament people died and were waiting 00:27:12.88\00:27:15.47 for the resurrection but now since Jesus rose, 00:27:15.66\00:27:17.20 he deals with them differently, 00:27:17.42\00:27:18.91 they go to Heaven right now. 00:27:19.11\00:27:20.08 It's ridiculous you know and the Old Testament 00:27:20.19\00:27:22.77 one way and the New Testament the other no. 00:27:23.01\00:27:25.61 The Old Testament is law, they had to keep the law 00:27:25.84\00:27:27.92 to be saved, but the New Testament 00:27:28.12\00:27:29.22 is by grace through faith. 00:27:29.41\00:27:30.95 I'm sorry but Abraham was saved by his faith in Christ 00:27:31.59\00:27:34.45 and by the grace that God bestowed upon him. 00:27:34.65\00:27:37.93 Right, it's always by grace, read Hebrews chapter 11 00:27:38.14\00:27:40.88 over and over again, Abraham, Noah, 00:27:41.09\00:27:43.12 reverse order Moses, all of them listed 00:27:43.33\00:27:48.40 were by faith, by faith, by, faith, by faith 00:27:48.60\00:27:51.29 over and over again by faith 00:27:51.48\00:27:52.70 they weren't saved by works. 00:27:52.92\00:27:54.20 No, never has salvation been by works, 00:27:54.42\00:27:56.69 the works that were through the ceremonial law 00:27:56.89\00:28:00.59 were to let people know that when Jesus comes 00:28:00.80\00:28:03.86 it'll be easy to identify him. 00:28:04.07\00:28:06.49 Because that lamb that you just killed 00:28:06.69\00:28:08.41 he's gonna be the final lamb, that high priest, 00:28:08.62\00:28:12.01 look at the shadows now, I wanna talk about this, 00:28:12.22\00:28:14.44 this is gonna my, this is gonna be my shadow hand, 00:28:14.62\00:28:16.35 this is gonna be, let me use Christ as the right hand. 00:28:16.57\00:28:19.41 This is the shadow is the left hand, 00:28:19.62\00:28:21.20 the earthly high priest was the man who had to 00:28:21.42\00:28:24.77 provide a sacrifice for his own sin. 00:28:24.97\00:28:27.78 Jesus is the man who is our high priest, 00:28:27.99\00:28:32.53 who doesn't have to provide a sacrifice 00:28:32.72\00:28:34.77 because he has no sin, that's perfect. 00:28:34.96\00:28:37.08 The high priest had to take the life of a lamb, 00:28:37.28\00:28:40.05 the earthly high priest, the high priest Jesus 00:28:40.25\00:28:43.75 is the lamb and he's a lamb 00:28:43.95\00:28:47.15 without blemish and without spot. 00:28:47.35\00:28:49.13 You find that in the book of First Peter, 00:28:49.34\00:28:51.11 I'm gonna talk about that in just a moment. 00:28:51.31\00:28:52.39 You had the most important part of the furniture 00:28:53.18\00:28:56.27 in the entire sanctuary now, the most important piece, 00:28:56.47\00:28:58.94 you may wonder what that was and many people 00:28:59.12\00:29:01.08 think it's The Ark of the Covenant, 00:29:01.27\00:29:02.25 you know The Ark of the Covenant had no value 00:29:02.45\00:29:04.48 if there was not a sacrifice that was acceptable 00:29:05.12\00:29:07.62 on the altar of burn offerings. 00:29:07.83\00:29:09.38 And the altar burn offerings is symbolic 00:29:09.59\00:29:11.94 clearly of the cross, okay that shadow. 00:29:12.15\00:29:14.79 The lamb put on the altar of burn offering sacrificed 00:29:15.00\00:29:17.69 for the people and for their sins was Christ 00:29:17.92\00:29:21.52 prefigured Christ on the cross sacrificing 00:29:21.73\00:29:24.66 his own life and giving his own blood 00:29:24.85\00:29:26.36 for the forgiveness and the cleansing of sins. 00:29:26.56\00:29:29.23 Matter of fact the Bible says: for where there is no 00:29:29.43\00:29:31.39 shedding of blood there is no remission of sin, 00:29:31.58\00:29:33.74 so we could have all that furniture but no sacrifice. 00:29:33.94\00:29:37.97 And that's what Isaac asks, father, 00:29:38.19\00:29:41.75 where is the sacrifice? You know John this is 00:29:41.96\00:29:45.31 how strong it is and one very well known 00:29:45.50\00:29:48.87 theologian within, within the Adventist church said 00:29:49.06\00:29:51.58 it this way and I thought it was very good, 00:29:51.77\00:29:53.12 very strong but very true that without, 00:29:53.31\00:29:57.18 without the mediation of Jesus in the heavenly 00:29:57.39\00:30:02.52 sanctuary without him applying his blood, 00:30:02.72\00:30:04.51 and mediating in behalf of you and I, 00:30:04.70\00:30:06.35 throughout time from his ascension 00:30:06.55\00:30:08.64 until the end when he finishes all things, 00:30:08.84\00:30:10.41 that the cross is utterly meaningless, 00:30:10.64\00:30:12.95 it is utterly meaningless, it does no good to us 00:30:14.13\00:30:17.69 unless Jesus takes the benefits of that 00:30:17.91\00:30:22.12 atoning sacrifice and applies them to us 00:30:22.32\00:30:25.21 for forgiveness and for cleansing, 00:30:25.41\00:30:27.59 what do you think First John 1:9 says: 00:30:27.78\00:30:29.21 If we confess our sins, that God is faithful 00:30:29.41\00:30:31.88 and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us, 00:30:32.09\00:30:35.83 cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 00:30:36.03\00:30:37.81 You see it didn't just end 00:30:38.00\00:30:39.52 when Jesus went into the heavens, 00:30:39.73\00:30:41.11 into the heavenly sanctuary as our high priest, 00:30:41.31\00:30:43.95 it didn't just end with the forgiveness of the cross. 00:30:44.19\00:30:46.07 He needed to apply that and forgive us 00:30:46.27\00:30:48.17 as time went on for our transgressions 00:30:48.37\00:30:50.75 but also finally at the end he need to cleanse us. 00:30:50.96\00:30:53.85 You see so even the New Testament is, is just repeat 00:30:54.81\00:30:58.24 with imagery pointing back to the old covenant system. 00:30:58.44\00:31:02.32 And if you don't understand 00:31:02.53\00:31:03.50 the imagery of the old covenant system, 00:31:03.67\00:31:05.14 the New Testament can be quite confusing, 00:31:05.35\00:31:07.74 that's why people read Colossians 2, 00:31:07.95\00:31:09.88 it is confusing, they read Colossians 2 00:31:10.08\00:31:11.38 without their church leaders teaching them 00:31:11.58\00:31:13.01 about the sanctuary services and they think aha! 00:31:13.21\00:31:16.23 Seventh, where did I hear the word 00:31:17.51\00:31:19.03 Sabbath before oh and creation, 00:31:19.22\00:31:20.91 so the Sabbath was done away with. 00:31:21.11\00:31:22.84 They are totally, honestly ignorant 00:31:23.04\00:31:27.67 I don't wanna say willingly ignorant, 00:31:27.88\00:31:29.37 many of the members are honestly ignorant 00:31:29.57\00:31:31.70 about what that whole system was all about. 00:31:31.90\00:31:33.41 So, when they hear the word Sabbath they link it 00:31:33.62\00:31:35.41 to creation or the Seventh-day Sabbath 00:31:35.59\00:31:37.12 and they say that's what it meant, 00:31:37.34\00:31:39.10 the Sabbath is no longer, 00:31:39.32\00:31:40.29 it was for the Jews, it was for the Jews, 00:31:40.34\00:31:42.50 so now that's why we keep Sunday. 00:31:42.72\00:31:43.92 'Cause the Sabbath was done away with, 00:31:44.13\00:31:45.39 right completely, completely false matter of fact 00:31:45.58\00:31:48.47 I made the point if there was no acceptable sacrifice 00:31:48.67\00:31:51.92 you can never get to the most Holy place, right. 00:31:52.13\00:31:54.78 Listen to Hebrews. Hebrews 10, let's go back again 00:31:54.99\00:31:58.66 and let's look at the word again shadow here. 00:31:58.86\00:32:00.67 I want you to catch this friends and then 00:32:00.87\00:32:02.29 we're gonna show you some shadow Sabbaths, 00:32:02.50\00:32:03.84 because a lot of times people think that the Sabbath, 00:32:04.05\00:32:06.37 the shadow Sabbath is the Seventh-day Sabbath 00:32:06.57\00:32:08.64 of creation, wrong, I've got to just say it that way, 00:32:08.83\00:32:11.56 yeah. Not, being arrogant, wrong, 00:32:11.76\00:32:13.05 that's not the shadow Sabbath. 00:32:13.25\00:32:14.95 The shadow Sabbaths were the and I will tell 00:32:15.16\00:32:17.20 you about them in just a moment, 00:32:17.39\00:32:18.36 but the ceremony of Sabbath, let's look 00:32:18.37\00:32:19.49 at this Hebrews 10 starting with the verse 1, 00:32:19.68\00:32:22.77 look at this. For the law, having a 00:32:22.98\00:32:26.98 shadow of the good things to come, 00:32:27.29\00:32:30.43 and not the very image of the things, 00:32:30.71\00:32:33.73 can never with these same sacrifices, 00:32:33.95\00:32:37.42 which they offered continually year by year, 00:32:37.62\00:32:40.64 make those who approach perfect. 00:32:40.84\00:32:43.11 For then, verse 2 of Hebrews 10: 00:32:43.98\00:32:46.30 For then would they not have ceased to be offered? 00:32:46.52\00:32:49.89 For the worshipers once purified, that's cleansed, 00:32:50.11\00:32:53.97 would have had no more consciousness of sins. 00:32:54.19\00:32:57.95 But notice the faultiness of the sacrificial system, 00:32:58.17\00:33:01.56 which is not the fault, 00:33:01.77\00:33:03.09 which has nothing to do with Christ. 00:33:03.28\00:33:05.14 Let me just rephrase it, 00:33:05.34\00:33:06.62 the faultiness of the earthly system gave away 00:33:06.83\00:33:10.46 to the faultlessness of Christ, okay. 00:33:10.65\00:33:13.64 Look at verse 3: But in those sacrifices there 00:33:13.85\00:33:17.41 is a remembrance of sins how often John? 00:33:17.61\00:33:19.69 Every year, for it is not possible 00:33:19.90\00:33:23.89 verse 4 of Hebrews 10: that the blood of bulls 00:33:24.11\00:33:27.29 and of goats could take away sins. 00:33:27.50\00:33:30.06 That's the shadow, now go to the, go to the, 00:33:30.28\00:33:32.74 go to the image now John, go to verse 5 and break it. 00:33:32.94\00:33:36.02 Therefore when he came into the world. 00:33:36.66\00:33:38.31 Wait, wait, wait, when he came, 00:33:38.51\00:33:40.49 that's right come preacher. 00:33:40.71\00:33:41.96 When he came into the world, you got it, he said: 00:33:43.34\00:33:46.05 Sacrifice and offering you did not desire, 00:33:46.26\00:33:48.56 but a body you had prepared for me. 00:33:48.76\00:33:50.81 In burnt offerings and sacrifices 00:33:51.02\00:33:53.28 for sin you had no pleasure. 00:33:53.49\00:33:54.78 Then I said, behold, I have come and the volume 00:33:55.00\00:33:57.69 of the book it is written of Me 00:33:57.89\00:33:59.80 to do Your will, O God." 00:33:59.99\00:34:02.43 Now, John, in the volume of the book okay, 00:34:02.64\00:34:04.68 okay friends, did you hear that, point at John 00:34:04.89\00:34:07.74 again and say in the volume of what? 00:34:07.93\00:34:09.17 In the volume of the book it is written of Me. 00:34:09.37\00:34:11.77 In other words, in the book of Moses, 00:34:11.99\00:34:14.17 the Law of Moses, Moses points to through 00:34:14.37\00:34:16.89 these ceremonies, points to Jesus and His ministry 00:34:17.10\00:34:19.06 and he says I'm here I came to do it. 00:34:19.28\00:34:21.82 And if you wanna find out about the Jesus, 00:34:22.03\00:34:24.50 look at the volume of the book, the volume. 00:34:24.70\00:34:27.38 In the book that was placed at the side 00:34:27.59\00:34:30.30 of the Ark of the Covenant, yes that was the volume. 00:34:30.52\00:34:32.86 In that volume all the ceremonies pointed to 00:34:33.08\00:34:36.22 Christ, notice how he personalizes, 00:34:36.41\00:34:38.43 notice how this verse is filled. 00:34:38.62\00:34:40.47 And notice how Jesus quoted here, 00:34:40.69\00:34:43.52 is telling the New Testament church 00:34:43.73\00:34:45.74 to go back and look at the book, 00:34:45.99\00:34:47.92 look at the book and you know who I am. 00:34:48.13\00:34:49.69 He's not saying it's Old Testament stuff, 00:34:49.90\00:34:51.55 he's not saying oh it's Old Testament 00:34:51.75\00:34:53.36 you know that was just for the Jews. 00:34:53.56\00:34:54.97 He saying the New Testament church go back 00:34:54.98\00:34:57.19 and look at the book because then 00:34:57.20\00:34:58.39 you will establish your theology correctly, 00:34:58.40\00:35:00.39 there you go. John this is powerful look at 00:35:00.40\00:35:03.43 verse 8: Previously saying, "Sacrifice and offering, 00:35:03.44\00:35:07.89 burnt offerings and offerings for sin 00:35:07.90\00:35:10.43 You did not desire, nor had pleasure in them 00:35:10.44\00:35:13.23 which are offered according to the law." 00:35:13.24\00:35:16.14 Now, if you look at the Ten Commandments 00:35:16.15\00:35:17.45 friend you will find absolutely nothing about 00:35:17.46\00:35:19.52 a sacrifice, right, nothing about a burnt offering, 00:35:19.53\00:35:23.41 nothing about any kind of offering in the 00:35:23.42\00:35:26.70 Ten Commandments, this is the perfect standard, 00:35:26.71\00:35:28.56 it's just the standard of Christ's righteousness, 00:35:28.57\00:35:30.93 it's the moral law not the ceremonial law in the 00:35:30.94\00:35:35.98 Ten Commandments you find absolutely 00:35:35.99\00:35:38.62 nothing temporary. Let me go and illustrate, 00:35:38.63\00:35:41.56 at what point do we now take the name of 00:35:41.57\00:35:44.93 the Lord in vain? We never do, now watch me, 00:35:44.94\00:35:49.62 after the cross those who say the commandments 00:35:51.58\00:35:55.14 were done away with, can we now as Christians 00:35:55.15\00:35:56.87 take God's name in vain. No, you can't, so you're 00:35:56.88\00:36:01.11 showing by saying yes, by saying no you can't 00:36:01.12\00:36:04.67 you are showing clearly that you admit that the 00:36:04.68\00:36:07.71 commandments, the first four applying to our 00:36:07.72\00:36:10.71 obligation to God are clearly intact. 00:36:10.72\00:36:14.08 But the biggest obligation of that was the one 00:36:14.09\00:36:16.79 that shows who is our creator and that's the 00:36:16.80\00:36:19.30 one that Satan used Colossians 2 to try to 00:36:19.31\00:36:21.22 get rid of and that's the word of the Sabbath. 00:36:21.23\00:36:23.35 Now, John go ahead and register and 00:36:23.36\00:36:25.06 I am gonna show some, well lets say if there is 00:36:25.07\00:36:27.35 any commandment to go after as Satan you 00:36:27.36\00:36:30.69 know to attack the authority of God himself 00:36:30.70\00:36:33.29 who he is, it's the forth, in fact I would 00:36:33.30\00:36:36.55 suggest that, some have suggested I would say 00:36:36.56\00:36:38.68 and I would suggested as well that the four 00:36:38.69\00:36:41.73 commandments the first four are on one tablet 00:36:41.74\00:36:44.07 and second five were on the other but I will 00:36:44.08\00:36:47.14 suggest the four commandment itself 00:36:47.15\00:36:48.73 is more of a bridge between the two. 00:36:48.74\00:36:51.72 'Cause it establishes the authority of the one 00:36:51.73\00:36:54.64 giving the commandment, that's right, very good 00:36:54.65\00:36:57.05 point and you know the other thing I wanted 00:36:57.06\00:36:59.45 to weigh on too here and I know it's, 00:36:59.46\00:37:01.17 I don't wanna be too disjointed here as 00:37:01.18\00:37:03.10 we marsh right over it, of the chapter 10 00:37:03.11\00:37:07.62 of Hebrews, it says in verse 2: For the 00:37:07.63\00:37:12.13 worshipers once purify wouldn't have had no 00:37:12.14\00:37:14.69 more consciousness of sins. There is an illusion 00:37:14.70\00:37:18.28 here of one overall plan, that when it's complete 00:37:18.29\00:37:23.92 we've no more consciousness, 00:37:23.93\00:37:25.53 and we've no more sin, we've nothing more to 00:37:25.54\00:37:27.87 worry about because it's done. Okay, if you 00:37:27.88\00:37:32.48 understand where I'm going here okay, 00:37:32.49\00:37:33.67 so what's happening here what he's saying 00:37:33.68\00:37:36.61 is that in that early system that was from 00:37:36.62\00:37:39.35 year to year in the copy of the plan that God 00:37:39.36\00:37:43.81 had overall from the year to year, they repeated 00:37:43.82\00:37:46.94 the ceremonies that ended on the Day of Atonement, 00:37:46.95\00:37:49.04 or the ended with the Day of Atonement 00:37:49.05\00:37:50.46 which is the one is the reconciliation with God 00:37:50.47\00:37:52.68 and the eradication, the cleansing of sin from the 00:37:52.69\00:37:55.02 sanctuary itself and from the camp. 00:37:55.03\00:37:57.08 That happened every year and there was a 00:37:57.09\00:38:00.37 reminder of sins constantly and what he saying 00:38:00.38\00:38:02.53 is if that was the real, if that's all there was 00:38:02.54\00:38:06.21 then people would after that time not have any 00:38:06.22\00:38:09.31 more consciousness of sin 'cause that's what 00:38:09.32\00:38:10.84 intended, it's intended to get rid of sin. 00:38:10.85\00:38:13.76 And so what he's saying by that is now the real 00:38:13.77\00:38:17.09 plan that's ministered from the heavenly sanctuary 00:38:17.10\00:38:20.14 with Christ as the high priest is intended when 00:38:20.15\00:38:24.18 completed at the end of time. When completed 00:38:24.19\00:38:27.12 with a anti-typical date of Atonement, 00:38:27.13\00:38:29.60 the real Day of Atonement that when that cleansing 00:38:29.61\00:38:32.40 happens, when those sins are purify when the 00:38:32.41\00:38:34.58 heavenly sanctuary is cleansed, when God's 00:38:34.59\00:38:36.61 people are eradicated from, when sin is eradicated 00:38:36.62\00:38:39.42 from their lives. That when Jesus comes and 00:38:39.43\00:38:41.61 ends it all there is no more consciousness of sin, 00:38:41.62\00:38:44.79 because there is no more sin. Now, I know this 00:38:44.80\00:38:47.72 comparison John that's powerful and I'm glad it's 00:38:47.73\00:38:50.78 being recorded. Friends, you do need to get a copy 00:38:50.79\00:38:52.94 of this if you're not recording it, you need 00:38:52.95\00:38:54.37 to get a copy of this and share with your friends. 00:38:54.38\00:38:56.34 And you can contact 3ABN for a copy of this 00:38:56.35\00:38:58.48 particular program it's called shadows, that's 00:38:58.49\00:39:01.35 the topic of this, of this discussion but 00:39:01.36\00:39:03.99 here what I wanna point out is John you read 00:39:04.00\00:39:05.86 that verse and I'm glad you brought us back to 00:39:05.87\00:39:07.41 it because it opens up something else that is 00:39:07.42\00:39:09.44 talked about later on the very same passage. 00:39:09.45\00:39:11.70 It says every year people are reminded 00:39:11.71\00:39:15.99 of their sins, because it's a continual thing, 00:39:16.00\00:39:18.10 every year they've to come down to the 00:39:18.11\00:39:19.48 Day of Atonement, everyday they have 00:39:19.49\00:39:20.86 to provide daily sacrifice, right. 00:39:20.87\00:39:22.86 But what happen after Jesus, look at verse 9 00:39:22.87\00:39:26.85 of Hebrews 10, verse 8: Previously saying, 00:39:26.86\00:39:34.73 "Sacrifice and offering, burnt offerings, 00:39:34.74\00:39:36.48 and offerings for sin You did not desire, 00:39:36.49\00:39:38.62 nor had pleasure in them which is offered 00:39:38.63\00:39:41.70 according to the law. He said, "Behold, I have 00:39:41.71\00:39:45.39 come to do Your will, O God. He takes away 00:39:45.40\00:39:47.78 the first that he may establish the second. 00:39:47.79\00:39:51.01 He takes away the type that he may establish 00:39:51.02\00:39:54.02 the anti-type. Anti doesn't mean against, 00:39:54.03\00:39:56.64 it means in place of, Jesus came in place 00:39:56.65\00:39:59.21 of ceremony etc. So, He abolished what? 00:39:59.22\00:40:01.64 Not the Sabbath, He abolished the old covenant 00:40:01.65\00:40:06.63 ceremonies, right and sacrifices, the sacrificial 00:40:06.64\00:40:10.38 system from the old covenant that's what 00:40:10.39\00:40:12.60 he abolished right. I'm tying this back to 00:40:12.61\00:40:14.48 Colossians chapter 2 right. That's why I mentioned 00:40:14.49\00:40:17.74 let no one judge your meats and drinks and 00:40:17.75\00:40:21.08 new moons and Sabbath days, I've yet to show 00:40:21.09\00:40:24.22 you the Sabbath days that were applied to that 00:40:24.23\00:40:26.36 system and I will do that before this program 00:40:26.37\00:40:27.71 is done. But look at verse 10 now, verse, 00:40:27.72\00:40:31.37 verse 10 yeah: By that, by that will, 00:40:31.38\00:40:37.39 by that will we have been sanctified through the 00:40:39.76\00:40:42.48 offering of the body of Jesus Christ, how often 00:40:42.49\00:40:45.15 John? Once for all. Once not yearly yeah, once, 00:40:45.16\00:40:50.82 for all, and every priest this is the earthly one, 00:40:50.83\00:40:53.25 stands ministering how often? Daily and offering 00:40:53.26\00:40:57.45 repeatedly the same sacrifices which can 00:40:57.46\00:41:00.72 never take away sins. But verse 12: here's 00:41:00.73\00:41:05.23 the actual, here's the image, here's the not 00:41:05.24\00:41:07.59 the shadow, here's the man but this man after 00:41:07.60\00:41:10.84 he had offered one sacrifice for sins forever 00:41:10.85\00:41:14.68 sat down at the right hand of God from that 00:41:14.69\00:41:18.79 time waiting till his enemies are made 00:41:18.80\00:41:21.70 his footstool. For by one offering he had perfected 00:41:21.71\00:41:26.10 forever those who are being sanctified. 00:41:26.11\00:41:30.21 And you clearly see there in verse 18 where there 00:41:30.22\00:41:32.54 he is talking about the remission of sin. 00:41:32.55\00:41:34.68 So, Christ was the one that all this blood 00:41:34.69\00:41:37.41 sacrifice is pointing to, and by the way friends 00:41:37.42\00:41:40.51 in the Old Testament many of these services 00:41:40.52\00:41:42.97 were referred to as Sabbaths. 00:41:42.98\00:41:44.89 Let me show you some of them yeah, 00:41:44.90\00:41:46.56 go with us now to the book of Leviticus, 00:41:46.57\00:41:49.04 Leviticus has a number of them talked about, 00:41:49.05\00:41:51.43 lets see the book of Leviticus, we're gonna 00:41:51.44\00:41:53.76 break down some of these. So, that you don't walk 00:41:53.77\00:41:56.04 away from here saying that Jesus did away with 00:41:56.05\00:41:58.31 the Sabbath that he, that he crowned creation with. 00:41:58.32\00:42:02.32 He didn't do away with that Sabbath at all, 00:42:02.33\00:42:04.70 because that Sabbath was establish when there 00:42:04.71\00:42:07.23 was no sin. All that was, was a crowning act 00:42:07.24\00:42:10.73 and here's the problem, here's the weakness 00:42:10.74\00:42:12.72 of that argument. If Jesus did away with the 00:42:12.73\00:42:15.14 Seventh-day Sabbath then we have absolutely 00:42:15.15\00:42:19.13 no reason for the Seventh-day to exist 00:42:19.14\00:42:21.37 because he did create something on the 00:42:21.38\00:42:23.97 Seventh-day that was not physical but 00:42:23.98\00:42:26.18 it was spiritual. The spiritual blessing of the 00:42:26.19\00:42:28.99 Seventh-day was so that we could have physical 00:42:29.00\00:42:31.60 rest and spiritual refreshment, 00:42:31.61\00:42:34.04 what where I say, Leviticus, okay here I'm. 00:42:34.05\00:42:36.55 Leviticus chapter 23 and I'm gonna start with, 00:42:37.58\00:42:41.63 let's give you an obvious one okay. 00:42:41.64\00:42:45.19 And by the way when you look at all of Leviticus 00:42:45.20\00:42:48.31 it's just a really, let's first start with the 00:42:48.32\00:42:51.14 weekly Sabbath okay. Let's first start with 00:42:51.15\00:42:53.46 the weekly Sabbath, Leviticus chapter 23 00:42:53.47\00:42:56.34 verse 1 down to verse 3: And the Lord spoke 00:42:56.35\00:42:59.68 to Moses, saying, Speak to the children of Israel, 00:42:59.69\00:43:01.85 and say to them: 'The feasts of the Lord, 00:43:01.86\00:43:04.46 which you shall proclaim to be holy convocations 00:43:04.47\00:43:08.41 these are My feasts. six days shall work be done, 00:43:08.42\00:43:13.60 but the seventh day notice this seventh day 00:43:13.61\00:43:16.53 and get the language here, is a Sabbath of 00:43:16.54\00:43:20.84 solemn rest, but which one is it? 00:43:20.85\00:43:23.48 A holy convocation. You shall do no work on it; 00:43:23.49\00:43:28.12 it is the Sabbath of the Lord in all your dwellings. 00:43:28.13\00:43:32.03 It's one of them but it's not, but it's the Sabbath 00:43:32.04\00:43:36.10 and notice this here, yeah it is not included 00:43:36.11\00:43:39.11 among the feast, no it's not because if you look 00:43:39.12\00:43:41.61 at the next verse, verse 4 it says: 00:43:41.62\00:43:43.28 'These are the feasts of the Lord, and he starts 00:43:43.29\00:43:45.80 figuring that, so for some reason the Lord was 00:43:45.81\00:43:48.74 very clear to differentiate between that's right, 00:43:48.75\00:43:51.30 between the feast Sabbath and the Sabbath. 00:43:51.31\00:43:54.48 That's why he mentions the Sabbath here, 00:43:54.49\00:43:56.33 almost looks like someone could reverse interpret 00:43:56.34\00:43:59.08 this, they could say well these are the feasts 00:43:59.09\00:44:00.60 of the Lord, see the Sabbath is there. 00:44:00.61\00:44:02.37 But that's not what he's saying not at all, 00:44:02.38\00:44:04.17 he's saying: These are the feast of the Lord, 00:44:04.18\00:44:05.88 then he differentiates the Seventh-day Sabbath 00:44:05.89\00:44:08.44 from the feast and comes back and says 00:44:08.45\00:44:10.72 in verse 4: These are feasts of the Lord and 00:44:10.73\00:44:13.23 then he goes onto talk about them, 00:44:13.24\00:44:14.39 Just like in Revelation 20 verse 5 and 6 00:44:14.40\00:44:16.48 where it says, this is the first resurrection, 00:44:16.49\00:44:19.16 you know he reads about the second death and 00:44:19.17\00:44:21.31 say this is the first resurrection, right, 00:44:21.32\00:44:22.89 you got to understand the way the Bible writes, 00:44:22.90\00:44:24.66 the way that the Bible writers emphasis what 00:44:24.67\00:44:26.81 they write. But now in this chapter here 00:44:26.82\00:44:28.82 where I wanna point out and I have my 00:44:28.83\00:44:30.50 glasses on because I need to see up close 00:44:30.51\00:44:32.41 there are now I mention to you the Sabbaths 00:44:32.42\00:44:34.52 that are mentioned here. We're gonna first cover 00:44:34.53\00:44:36.41 Passover then the Feast of Unleavened Bread, 00:44:36.42\00:44:39.41 then the Sabbath of First Fruits, then Pentecost, 00:44:39.42\00:44:42.21 then the Trumpets, then the Day of Atonement, 00:44:42.22\00:44:44.56 then the Feast of Tabernacles, that's the 00:44:44.57\00:44:46.22 way it outlines it. But now lets go down to 00:44:46.23\00:44:48.81 verse 20, verse 37 to verse 42, I wanna go ahead 00:44:48.82\00:44:53.33 and give you one, so you could actually see 00:44:53.34\00:44:54.50 the words. John, why don't you read that 00:44:54.51\00:44:57.89 since I read the last one, start with verse 37 00:44:57.90\00:45:00.46 okay, down to verse 42, actually 37 to verse 00:45:00.47\00:45:05.43 let me see where I'm, it's about right, 00:45:05.44\00:45:08.77 yeah till verse 42 go ahead and we'll stop 00:45:08.78\00:45:11.15 when you get to the word Sabbaths. 00:45:11.16\00:45:12.66 These are the feasts of the Lord which you shall 00:45:12.67\00:45:14.74 proclaim to be holy convocations, that's right 00:45:14.75\00:45:17.68 and that's why they're called Sabbaths by the 00:45:17.69\00:45:19.38 way because the Sabbath day was 00:45:19.39\00:45:21.00 a holy convocation, a day of worship to come 00:45:21.01\00:45:23.73 together to worship the Lord from week to week. 00:45:23.74\00:45:27.14 Now, I wanna, before you go any further, 00:45:27.15\00:45:29.12 I want you to notice friends as John is reading, 00:45:29.13\00:45:31.24 the Sabbath, Seventh-day Sabbath is capitalized 00:45:31.25\00:45:35.94 the Sabbaths or small letters, in most, in many 00:45:35.95\00:45:41.34 modern translations now in the old ones 00:45:41.35\00:45:43.24 you don't get that like that, right, 00:45:43.25\00:45:44.72 Kings James version, but right, okay. 00:45:44.73\00:45:47.35 And it says here to offer an offering made 00:45:47.36\00:45:50.15 by fire to the Lord, a burnt offering and 00:45:50.16\00:45:52.15 a grain offering, a sacrifice and drink 00:45:52.16\00:45:54.14 offerings, everything on its day. 00:45:54.15\00:45:56.29 Beside the Sabbaths of the Lord, beside 00:45:56.30\00:46:00.10 your gifts, beside vows, and beside all your 00:46:00.11\00:46:02.61 freewill offerings, which ye give unto the Lord. 00:46:02.62\00:46:04.82 Right, Also on the fifteenth day of the 00:46:04.83\00:46:07.45 seventh month, you will have gathered in the 00:46:07.46\00:46:09.05 fruit of the land, you shall keep the feast of the 00:46:09.06\00:46:11.34 Lord for seven days: On the first day there shall 00:46:11.35\00:46:14.01 be a Sabbath rest; on the what day? 00:46:14.02\00:46:16.42 The first day, okay, now if you want an argument 00:46:16.43\00:46:19.06 that the first day of Sabbath this is the 00:46:19.07\00:46:20.41 strongest one you're gonna get, right. 00:46:20.42\00:46:22.47 But this has to clearly connected to the ceremonial 00:46:22.48\00:46:24.79 system so that, sorry. And the next one it says, 00:46:24.80\00:46:26.98 on the eight day Sabbath rest, okay see the 00:46:26.99\00:46:29.57 ceremonial Sabbaths could fall on any day, 00:46:29.58\00:46:32.01 that's right. Sometimes they may fall, but it's 00:46:32.02\00:46:35.28 coincidental, right that it would fall on the 00:46:35.29\00:46:37.29 Sabbath day Sabbath, the Sabbath. 00:46:37.30\00:46:39.35 But these Sabbaths could fall on any day 00:46:39.36\00:46:42.17 but notice their first day shall be a Sabbath rest, 00:46:42.18\00:46:45.38 eight day a Sabbath rest, right, okay. 00:46:45.39\00:46:47.93 Keep going: And you shall take for yourselves 00:46:47.94\00:46:49.92 on the first day the fruit of beautiful trees, 00:46:49.93\00:46:52.40 branches of palm trees, the boughs of leafy trees, 00:46:52.41\00:46:56.92 and willows of the brook; and you shall rejoice 00:46:56.93\00:46:59.49 before the Lord your God for seven days. 00:46:59.50\00:47:01.77 You shall keep it as a feast to the Lord for 00:47:01.78\00:47:04.48 seven days in the year. It shall be a statute 00:47:04.49\00:47:07.23 forever in your generations. 00:47:07.24\00:47:08.94 You shall celebrate it in the seventh month, 00:47:08.95\00:47:11.70 okay and notice that you find two Sabbaths 00:47:11.71\00:47:14.57 mentioned there, not including, not including 00:47:14.58\00:47:17.93 the Passover which was also referred to as the 00:47:17.94\00:47:20.40 Sabbath and there is no way I could go 00:47:20.41\00:47:22.59 through Numbers, Leviticus, Deuteronomy, 00:47:22.60\00:47:25.09 but as you do your research you'll discover 00:47:25.10\00:47:26.75 the Passover was refer to as a Sabbath. 00:47:26.76\00:47:29.62 The feast of unleavened bread as a Sabbath, 00:47:29.63\00:47:32.73 the ceremony of first fruits and Pentecost, 00:47:32.74\00:47:36.05 and trumpets, and the Day of Atonement, 00:47:36.06\00:47:37.85 and the feast of tabernacles, these 00:47:37.86\00:47:39.88 were all spiritual convocations, and the 00:47:39.89\00:47:42.84 word convocations in it's right also it's translated 00:47:42.85\00:47:46.11 Sabbaths, you find clearly these were ceremonial 00:47:46.12\00:47:49.44 in their nature, not replacing, not omitting 00:47:49.45\00:47:52.87 the Seventh-day Sabbath. 00:47:52.88\00:47:55.20 But let's go on further go to Leviticus chapter 25, 00:47:55.21\00:47:58.00 I want you to see another Sabbath. 00:47:58.01\00:47:59.52 Leviticus chapter 25, I have verse 3 down to 00:47:59.53\00:48:04.61 verse 12, let me see if I could narrow that 00:48:04.62\00:48:08.37 down some. Let's go ahead and start with 00:48:08.38\00:48:13.69 well this is good John I think you have enough 00:48:13.70\00:48:15.56 time to read that go ahead and read that for us 00:48:15.57\00:48:17.27 because you could read pretty quickly I mean 00:48:17.28\00:48:19.02 I could too but. Starting verse 3 let's start with 00:48:19.03\00:48:21.09 verse 3: Six years you shall sow your field, 00:48:21.10\00:48:23.75 and six years you shall prune your vineyard, 00:48:23.76\00:48:25.73 and gather its fruits; but in the seventh year there 00:48:25.74\00:48:28.35 shall be a Sabbath of solemn rest for the land, 00:48:28.36\00:48:30.79 a Sabbath to the Lord. Okay, notice a Sabbath 00:48:30.80\00:48:33.71 what's resting here the land is resting, 00:48:33.72\00:48:37.08 that's right and if you follow that, let me just 00:48:37.09\00:48:39.79 say something friends there is a principle here 00:48:39.80\00:48:41.44 that if you follow that as a farmer today, 00:48:41.45\00:48:43.46 if you allow your land that has been harvested 00:48:43.47\00:48:45.65 for six years in a row to rest the seventh year. 00:48:45.66\00:48:47.99 You will discover that the land itself is gonna 00:48:48.00\00:48:50.26 replenish itself with the minerals that it needs 00:48:50.27\00:48:52.73 to re-grow after you, if you let it rest for 00:48:52.74\00:48:55.90 one year and plant and then a skip here 00:48:55.91\00:48:58.66 you will discover that land is gonna replenish 00:48:58.67\00:49:00.31 itself so notice it was a Sabbath rest, 00:49:00.32\00:49:02.46 but it was a seventh year Sabbath, keep 00:49:02.47\00:49:04.86 going John. Where am I, verse 5, yes, 00:49:04.87\00:49:09.28 What grows of its own accord of your harvest 00:49:09.29\00:49:12.50 you shall not reap, nor gather the grapes of 00:49:12.51\00:49:14.84 your untended vine, for it is a year of rest 00:49:14.85\00:49:17.57 for the land. And the Sabbath produce of the 00:49:17.58\00:49:20.08 land shall be food for you: for you, your male 00:49:20.09\00:49:23.51 and female servants, your hired man, and the 00:49:23.52\00:49:25.73 stranger who dwells with you, for your livestock 00:49:25.74\00:49:28.78 and the beasts that are in your land all its 00:49:28.79\00:49:31.02 produce shall be for food. And you shall 00:49:31.03\00:49:33.60 count seven Sabbaths of years for yourself, 00:49:33.61\00:49:36.47 seven times seven years; and the time of the seven 00:49:36.48\00:49:39.99 Sabbaths of years shall be to you forty-nine years. 00:49:40.00\00:49:42.98 Okay, see notice that, seven Sabbaths, seven 00:49:42.99\00:49:45.63 years, see this, and seven times of that and 00:49:45.64\00:49:48.36 seven times of that. Now, look at verse 9: 00:49:48.37\00:49:50.95 Then you shall cause the trumpet of the Jubilee 00:49:50.96\00:49:53.66 to sound on the tenth day of the seventh month 00:49:53.67\00:49:56.88 on the Day of Atonement you shall make the 00:49:56.89\00:49:58.95 trumpet to sound throughout all your land. 00:49:58.96\00:50:01.52 And you shall consecrate the fiftieth year, 00:50:01.53\00:50:04.66 and proclaim liberty throughout all the land 00:50:04.67\00:50:07.49 to all its inhabitants. It shall be a Jubilee 00:50:07.50\00:50:10.05 for you; and each of you shall return to his 00:50:10.06\00:50:13.19 possession, and each of you shall return 00:50:13.20\00:50:15.33 to his family. Okay, and just verse 11 and 12 00:50:15.34\00:50:18.00 and I'll summarize it real quick. 00:50:18.01\00:50:19.21 That fiftieth year shall be a Jubilee to you; 00:50:19.22\00:50:21.65 in it you shall neither sow nor reap what grows 00:50:21.66\00:50:24.83 of its own accord, nor gather the grapes of 00:50:24.84\00:50:27.11 your untended vine. For it is the Jubilee; 00:50:27.12\00:50:31.27 it shall be holy to you; you shall eat 00:50:31.28\00:50:35.06 its produce from the field. Okay friends, now 00:50:35.07\00:50:37.91 let me go ahead and give you the type of this, 00:50:37.92\00:50:39.44 this is the very powerful you covered a lot there 00:50:39.45\00:50:41.06 and you know if you never read this before 00:50:41.07\00:50:42.45 you could think your brain is probably 00:50:42.46\00:50:44.44 right now fried, okay. Let me go ahead 00:50:44.45\00:50:46.40 and summarize this whole thing, the day 00:50:46.41\00:50:49.70 of Pentecost was the fiftieth day, 00:50:49.71\00:50:54.38 Pente fiftieth day, pentagon five sides 00:50:56.28\00:50:59.73 that's why the Holy Spirit was poured out 00:50:59.74\00:51:01.81 on that day on the day of Pentecost 00:51:01.82\00:51:04.32 the fiftieth day. You will also discover that they 00:51:04.33\00:51:09.18 talked about seven times seven 49 but in 00:51:09.19\00:51:12.66 the fiftieth what's gonna happen in that 00:51:12.67\00:51:15.62 last round of the entrance into that 00:51:15.63\00:51:18.26 Seventh Sabbath you will discover now that the 00:51:18.27\00:51:21.86 land if I own land, I bought land from you, 00:51:21.87\00:51:25.87 I have to return it back to you in the 00:51:25.88\00:51:28.16 Jubilee year, I have to give it back to the one 00:51:28.17\00:51:30.22 who was the rightful owner in the very beginning. 00:51:30.23\00:51:32.19 Now, follow this very carefully friends, 00:51:32.20\00:51:34.17 seven cycles, in the seventh cycle after 00:51:34.18\00:51:37.32 return it back to the owner, now this is powerful. 00:51:37.33\00:51:40.15 One of the reasons why there is gonna 00:51:40.16\00:51:42.63 be a thousand years of rest called the millennium, 00:51:42.64\00:51:46.76 it's because that's the end of the seventh, 00:51:46.77\00:51:49.91 that is the entrance of the seventh thousand 00:51:49.92\00:51:52.72 year of the existence of human history. 00:51:52.73\00:51:55.99 And the land goes back to the rightful owner, 00:51:56.00\00:51:58.98 who is the rightful owner of the earth? 00:51:58.99\00:52:00.71 Jesus, okay and the land rests for a thousand 00:52:00.72\00:52:04.46 years and at the end of the thousand years 00:52:04.47\00:52:06.06 what happens, the land is replenished, 00:52:06.07\00:52:09.70 that's when the world, that's when the earth 00:52:09.71\00:52:11.64 is recreated, that's when sin is completely 00:52:11.65\00:52:15.27 eradicated finally and how was the fields purified, 00:52:15.28\00:52:20.61 if you live in Sacramento, California you know 00:52:20.62\00:52:23.19 the answer you will see in the distance all, 00:52:23.20\00:52:26.37 all the chaff into fields, all the tears into 00:52:26.38\00:52:30.21 fields, the fields have been purified and the 00:52:30.22\00:52:32.54 smoke is bellowing up as the fields are being 00:52:32.55\00:52:34.67 purified, that's one of the reasons why you 00:52:34.68\00:52:37.69 find the same language in Revelation. 00:52:37.70\00:52:40.98 The same language in Revelation, 00:52:40.99\00:52:43.21 at the end of six thousand years of sin 00:52:43.22\00:52:45.89 the earth is going to rest for a thousand years, 00:52:45.90\00:52:48.51 at the end of the thousand that last thousand year, 00:52:48.52\00:52:51.49 the end of millennium is gonna be the seventh 00:52:51.50\00:52:54.34 thousand of period then there is the fire from 00:52:54.35\00:52:56.52 God that comes out of Heaven to burn up 00:52:56.53\00:52:59.37 all sin and all sinners and after the purification 00:52:59.38\00:53:03.83 of this earth then the earth is replenished 00:53:03.84\00:53:06.15 and the recreation of a sinless society begins 00:53:06.16\00:53:10.41 all over again. But what I wanna point out is 00:53:10.42\00:53:13.52 the Sabbath that I referred to in the book 00:53:13.53\00:53:16.12 of Colossians and Ephesians has to do 00:53:16.13\00:53:19.62 with these things that we have pointed 00:53:19.63\00:53:22.10 you to today not the Seventh-day Sabbath 00:53:22.11\00:53:24.84 and here is the reason why the Seventh-day 00:53:24.85\00:53:26.90 Sabbath has not been done away with 00:53:26.91\00:53:28.87 I think I've saved the best for last. 00:53:28.88\00:53:30.45 John go to Isaiah before you, make your 00:53:30.46\00:53:32.74 comment while you're turning, I was gonna 00:53:32.75\00:53:33.91 say as we're going there Isaiah chapter 66, 66. 00:53:33.92\00:53:37.83 This is just a thought here but know as that 00:53:37.84\00:53:42.80 Jesus calls the Sabbath in the fourth commandment 00:53:42.81\00:53:48.03 His, He says there are my Sabbaths, okay which 00:53:48.04\00:53:52.97 is why at the end of the seven thousand years 00:53:52.98\00:53:55.80 when you get to the millennium he is restored 00:53:55.81\00:53:58.19 as the rightful owner or I would say creator 00:53:58.20\00:54:01.16 that's right, that's why creation is the issue 00:54:01.17\00:54:03.66 with regard of the Sabbath. 00:54:03.67\00:54:04.91 It is, it is not the issue, the Sabbath is not an 00:54:04.92\00:54:08.38 issue with regard to resurrection as some 00:54:08.39\00:54:10.44 would suggest to you, it's not because Jesus 00:54:10.45\00:54:12.13 rose on the first day of the week that we keep 00:54:12.14\00:54:13.65 that Sabbath, Sabbath has nothing to do with 00:54:13.66\00:54:15.99 resurrection, it has everything to do with 00:54:16.00\00:54:17.82 ownership, creator, that's why the jubilee 00:54:17.83\00:54:21.48 was a Sabbath, okay. So, after the cycle it returns, 00:54:21.49\00:54:26.15 this earth returns to Jesus who was the 00:54:26.16\00:54:28.15 original creator and that's why He says they're His, 00:54:28.16\00:54:32.23 that's right, this is my Sabbath, the other 00:54:32.24\00:54:34.54 Sabbaths, the ceremonies they're yours, 00:54:34.55\00:54:37.06 that's right. The other Sabbaths they're yours 00:54:37.07\00:54:40.09 this one and that's why Isaiah, Isaiah chapter 58, 00:54:40.10\00:54:43.51 if you will turn your foot away from my Sabbaths, 00:54:43.52\00:54:48.45 from doing, from you doing your pleasures on 00:54:48.46\00:54:51.93 my holy day okay. That's His holy day, 00:54:51.94\00:54:55.51 these others were all temporary and to show 00:54:55.52\00:54:57.70 you that it had not been destroyed, is evidenced 00:54:57.71\00:55:00.79 in Isaiah chapter 66 verse 22 and 23, 00:55:00.80\00:55:03.97 read that for us. If it had been destroyed 00:55:03.98\00:55:06.17 you wouldn't show up here, that's right. 00:55:06.18\00:55:08.42 For as the new heavens and the new earth, 00:55:08.43\00:55:11.26 which I will make, shall remain before me, 00:55:11.27\00:55:14.81 says the LORD, so shall your descendents in 00:55:14.82\00:55:16.99 your name remain. And it shall come to pass, 00:55:17.00\00:55:20.25 that as during this time in the new heavens 00:55:20.26\00:55:21.95 and the new earth, that's right. 00:55:21.96\00:55:22.93 it shall come to pass, that from one new moon 00:55:22.94\00:55:25.45 to another, and from one Sabbath to another, 00:55:25.46\00:55:28.03 all flesh come to worship before me, saith the Lord. 00:55:28.04\00:55:32.50 Notice that, from one new moon to another, 00:55:32.51\00:55:35.85 and from one Sabbath to another, shall all 00:55:35.86\00:55:37.94 flesh come to worship before me. 00:55:37.95\00:55:40.54 So, the Sabbath of creation week has never been, 00:55:40.55\00:55:44.31 has never been abrogated, has never been 00:55:44.32\00:55:47.99 destroyed, has never been taken out of the way, 00:55:48.00\00:55:51.20 has never been nailed to the cross that's why 00:55:51.21\00:55:53.61 and here's your evidences of that, in the lives of 00:55:53.62\00:55:56.23 the Apostles. Read the book of Acts and take 00:55:56.24\00:55:59.70 your dictionary, take your Bible concordance 00:55:59.71\00:56:02.31 and do yourself a favor and look at this very 00:56:02.32\00:56:05.01 simple exercise. You'll find the word Sabbath 00:56:05.02\00:56:08.00 mentioned sixty times in the New Testament, 00:56:08.01\00:56:11.30 you'll find the phrase first day only mentioned 00:56:11.31\00:56:13.87 twelve, eight of those have to do with the 00:56:13.88\00:56:16.46 resurrection, one has no application to any 00:56:16.47\00:56:19.68 particular day at all, just simply saying meet on 00:56:19.69\00:56:21.52 the first day when you go into town, 00:56:21.53\00:56:23.65 the other three have to do with getting together 00:56:23.66\00:56:25.99 and breaking bread on the first day, 00:56:26.00\00:56:27.73 but no new Sabbath mentioned there. 00:56:27.74\00:56:29.52 The other one has to do with the sermon Paul 00:56:29.53\00:56:31.59 preached until the first day of the week, 00:56:31.60\00:56:33.27 no new Sabbath mentioned there 00:56:33.28\00:56:34.99 and the last one has to do with an offering 00:56:35.00\00:56:36.79 picked up for the Jews who were poor in Jerusalem, 00:56:36.80\00:56:40.68 no new Sabbath mentioned there. 00:56:40.69\00:56:42.27 Its was not a collection taking in church and 00:56:42.28\00:56:44.33 so you see friends to try to get rid of the 00:56:44.34\00:56:46.11 Sabbath is of futile exercise because it 00:56:46.12\00:56:52.74 continues from the beginning through the 00:56:52.75\00:56:55.07 Old Testament, through the Apostles, 00:56:55.08\00:56:57.35 through the church today and throughout eternity. 00:56:57.36\00:56:59.52 John. I know I will echo this from the forth 00:56:59.53\00:57:02.50 commandment, the Seventh-day is the 00:57:02.51\00:57:04.17 Sabbath of the Lord thy God so the real issue 00:57:04.18\00:57:06.45 here is not so much the day, 00:57:06.46\00:57:10.12 it's the God that's right, that you serve. 00:57:10.13\00:57:12.57 The question is who is your God? Because 00:57:12.58\00:57:15.66 God has a day, God's day is the Seventh-day, 00:57:15.67\00:57:18.66 remember. And if it's another one then 00:57:18.67\00:57:21.32 that's not the creator God of heaven and earth. 00:57:21.33\00:57:23.92 That's right friends, you can tell, 00:57:23.93\00:57:25.21 hopefully we've answered many of your questions 00:57:25.22\00:57:27.87 if you haven't, send us an email. 00:57:27.88\00:57:29.67 Until we see you again, may the Lord of the 00:57:29.68\00:57:31.62 Sabbath be the Lord of your life. 00:57:31.63\00:57:33.36 See you on our next program. 00:57:33.37\00:57:36.06
