So turn up the light; let it shine bright... 00:00:01.36\00:00:03.97 Turn up, turn up the light! 00:00:04.17\00:00:09.60 Oh welcome, welcome. We've got Jason and Jill joining us 00:00:11.01\00:00:14.44 breathlessly. We're so excited to be with you 00:00:14.64\00:00:18.55 and that you are with us on this Interactive Camp Meeting. 00:00:18.75\00:00:22.18 We've got 30 minutes to answer some questions, 00:00:22.38\00:00:24.62 and we've got a lot of questions coming in. 00:00:24.82\00:00:26.65 But if you still want to get a question in, 00:00:26.86\00:00:29.72 we may not get to it in this 30 minutes but 00:00:29.92\00:00:32.23 we may get to it tonight. 00:00:32.43\00:00:34.56 Just text 00:00:34.76\00:00:36.10 OK, these are going to be kind of rapid-fire 00:00:41.40\00:00:43.64 so we can get as many questions in as possible. 00:00:43.84\00:00:46.37 And let me just start. Ryan, you're at the top of 00:00:46.78\00:00:50.58 the list. First question of the day 00:00:50.78\00:00:54.12 for the Sabbath School panel: could you please 00:00:54.32\00:00:58.02 have Ryan Day further elaborate on his illustration 00:00:58.22\00:01:02.22 involving the Pope. 00:01:02.42\00:01:05.93 OK. All right. So, yes... so I was referencing 00:01:06.13\00:01:08.90 Acts chapter 9 there where Paul was experiencing 00:01:09.10\00:01:12.30 conversion. Jesus had blinded him. 00:01:12.50\00:01:14.50 He's not seeing but he's hearing Jesus speak to him. 00:01:14.70\00:01:16.71 But at first you can see that Paul... he doesn't know 00:01:16.91\00:01:19.47 that he's speaking to Jesus so that's why he says... 00:01:19.67\00:01:22.71 you can sense that he knows he's talking to God 00:01:22.91\00:01:24.81 because he says: "Who are you, Lord? " 00:01:25.01\00:01:27.42 And obviously he was not prepared for the answer 00:01:27.62\00:01:31.25 that he was going to get, right? 00:01:31.45\00:01:32.85 Because he obviously... he hears the response: 00:01:33.05\00:01:35.06 "I am Jesus whom you are persecuting. " 00:01:35.26\00:01:37.16 So in that particular chapter I was simply giving... 00:01:37.36\00:01:40.00 in relation to that chapter and that incident... 00:01:40.20\00:01:41.80 was giving an illustration. 00:01:42.00\00:01:43.33 And I would liken it unto kind of a SDA experience. 00:01:43.40\00:01:46.20 We as SDA's believe and teach 00:01:46.40\00:01:47.87 very clearly as we are convicted and convinced 00:01:48.07\00:01:50.57 according to the truths of the Bible 00:01:50.77\00:01:52.11 that the antichrist of Bible prophecy is none other than 00:01:52.24\00:01:54.84 the Roman papal church/state. 00:01:55.04\00:01:56.38 And at the head of that of course is the leadership 00:01:56.51\00:01:58.35 of the office of the pope. 00:01:58.55\00:01:59.88 And so I was using an example that naturally SDA's can relate 00:01:59.91\00:02:03.02 to. I recognize that not all of our viewers are SDA's. 00:02:03.28\00:02:06.42 Glad this question came up. 00:02:06.62\00:02:08.06 So I'm using this as saying that that would be very strange 00:02:08.26\00:02:11.36 to a SDA. Likened to us if we found ourselves 00:02:11.56\00:02:14.16 in that situation where we were blinded 00:02:14.36\00:02:16.23 and on the side of the road and we were having this amazing 00:02:16.43\00:02:18.03 experience and we said: "Who are You, Lord? " 00:02:18.23\00:02:20.60 to identify who we're speaking to and the response came back 00:02:20.80\00:02:24.24 "It's the pope whom you're persecuting" 00:02:24.44\00:02:26.88 that would be very shocking to us, right? 00:02:27.28\00:02:30.08 Our whole theological world would be turned upside down. 00:02:30.28\00:02:32.85 That was my point in using that illustration. 00:02:33.05\00:02:35.05 Not to give honor to the pope; no to say that the pope was 00:02:35.25\00:02:37.45 even on the same field of play as God 00:02:37.65\00:02:40.46 but to illustrate that the strangeness, the awkwardness 00:02:40.66\00:02:43.43 of that situation. Paul's whole theological world, 00:02:43.63\00:02:46.56 his whole spiritual experience was turned upside down 00:02:46.80\00:02:49.40 in that one day because he was fully convinced 00:02:49.60\00:02:51.43 that Jesus was his enemy. But to hear God from heaven 00:02:51.63\00:02:54.90 say: "It's Me, Jesus, whom you are persecuting" 00:02:55.10\00:02:57.64 his life was forever changed. So that was the point 00:02:57.84\00:02:59.87 of the illustration... not to create confusion 00:03:00.08\00:03:01.44 but just to illustrate how strange of a reaction 00:03:01.64\00:03:05.11 or strange of an incident that must have been for Paul. 00:03:05.31\00:03:07.68 It was a jarring experience for sure! 00:03:07.88\00:03:11.09 Jill, this one is from a caller in Pennsylvania. 00:03:11.49\00:03:14.36 In the midst of this pandemic many churches are struggling 00:03:14.56\00:03:18.43 with precaution versus presumption. 00:03:18.63\00:03:22.50 Please help by explaining the difference. 00:03:22.90\00:03:25.27 That's a great question. You know, I think in the midst 00:03:25.47\00:03:27.40 of the pandemic things come up that we don't necessarily... 00:03:27.60\00:03:30.54 we haven't experienced before 00:03:30.74\00:03:32.44 and then all of a sudden you're faced with a decision: 00:03:32.64\00:03:34.54 what do I do now in the midst of this? 00:03:34.74\00:03:36.18 What I'm reminded of is the temptation of Jesus. 00:03:36.58\00:03:38.85 This is in Matthew chapter 4. 00:03:39.05\00:03:40.88 And remember, Satan brought Jesus up to the pinnacle 00:03:41.08\00:03:43.95 of the temple and said - I'm in Matthew 4 verse 6- 00:03:44.15\00:03:47.09 "If you are the Son of God, throw Yourself down. " 00:03:47.29\00:03:50.63 When I look at precaution 00:03:51.03\00:03:53.60 I see it as Christians being careful. 00:03:53.80\00:03:56.87 We are called to exercise common sense. 00:03:57.07\00:03:59.93 We are called to do everything we can 00:04:00.14\00:04:02.04 to protect our brothers and sisters in the midst of this 00:04:02.24\00:04:05.01 pandemic but yet not walk in fear. 00:04:05.21\00:04:08.74 To me that's precaution. Taking necessary precautions 00:04:08.94\00:04:11.48 but yet not living in a state of fear. 00:04:11.68\00:04:13.92 Some people say: "I'm not even going outside my house. " 00:04:14.12\00:04:16.28 We talked to one person had never been outside their house 00:04:16.48\00:04:18.85 since March because they were afraid. 00:04:19.05\00:04:21.62 "God has not given us the spirit of fear 00:04:22.02\00:04:23.83 but of power and love and of a sound mind. " 00:04:24.03\00:04:26.19 So we are called to exercise that precaution 00:04:26.39\00:04:28.66 and to be careful yet not walk in fear. 00:04:28.86\00:04:31.60 And do not be presumptive. 00:04:31.80\00:04:33.77 Do not tempt as it were the Lord God. 00:04:33.97\00:04:36.71 That's VERY good. OK! 00:04:37.74\00:04:40.08 I'm trying to read through some of these that keep coming in 00:04:40.28\00:04:42.78 here. Jason... yes? How do we get the courage 00:04:42.98\00:04:46.61 to witness in this day and age when it seems like 00:04:46.82\00:04:49.65 everyone doesn't want to hear about God? 00:04:49.85\00:04:53.92 Ah... that's an excellent question. 00:04:54.22\00:04:56.32 You know, I think we should go to Acts chapter 1 verse 8. 00:04:56.52\00:04:59.69 This is a verse that I've heard my brother Pr. Ryan Day use 00:04:59.89\00:05:03.30 quite a bit. 00:05:03.50\00:05:04.83 In Acts chapter 1 verse 8 it says: "But you shall receive 00:05:04.87\00:05:07.57 power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you. 00:05:07.77\00:05:10.24 And you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem 00:05:10.44\00:05:12.81 and in all Judea and Samaria 00:05:13.01\00:05:15.01 and to the end of the earth. " 00:05:15.21\00:05:17.15 How do we witness? 00:05:17.35\00:05:19.45 Well, basically we get the power from the Holy Spirit. 00:05:19.95\00:05:23.92 But you have to think about what God has done in your life. 00:05:24.12\00:05:27.39 I would pose the question: how could we NOT witness 00:05:27.59\00:05:31.19 with all of the good things that God has done for us? 00:05:31.59\00:05:34.93 You woke up with air in your lungs. 00:05:35.13\00:05:37.17 You can breathe. You are able to listen to this program 00:05:37.47\00:05:42.07 or watch this program. There are so many wonderful blessings 00:05:42.27\00:05:46.54 that God has bestowed upon us 00:05:46.74\00:05:48.94 that how could we not share the good news? 00:05:49.14\00:05:51.45 We share good news about food. 00:05:51.65\00:05:53.15 We share good news about something we saw on television. 00:05:53.35\00:05:57.39 We share good news about so many different things. 00:05:57.59\00:06:00.62 But when you know that you have... 00:06:01.02\00:06:04.69 you serve a God that can grant someone eternal life 00:06:04.89\00:06:10.53 how do you not share that? 00:06:10.93\00:06:12.80 You know, I've heard my mother say that 00:06:13.00\00:06:14.84 if you see that a house is on fire 00:06:15.04\00:06:17.51 you're going to tell that person that their house is on fire. 00:06:17.91\00:06:21.51 That's right! If you know that this world is perishing 00:06:21.71\00:06:24.41 and it's coming to an end, you're going to tell 00:06:24.61\00:06:27.12 your neighbors, your brothers, your sisters 00:06:27.32\00:06:29.35 everybody that Jesus is coming soon and that this world 00:06:29.55\00:06:32.69 is perishing and they can have eternal life through Him. 00:06:32.89\00:06:35.82 Amen! Easiest thing always is to begin with your own 00:06:36.02\00:06:38.63 testimony. Just tell them what God has done for you, right? 00:06:38.83\00:06:41.53 Johnny, how do we go and do what our Savior calls us 00:06:42.56\00:06:47.57 to be doing in the Laodicean- laden sleepy church 00:06:48.30\00:06:54.04 as we find ourselves? 00:06:54.24\00:06:55.91 Well, this is a great question 00:06:57.15\00:07:00.02 because we all have a need of following Jesus. 00:07:00.22\00:07:04.39 Jesus said: "If any man will come after Me, let him 00:07:04.59\00:07:06.92 take up his cross daily and follow Me. " 00:07:07.12\00:07:09.92 The only way to avoid the sleepy Laodicean state 00:07:10.33\00:07:14.96 is to daily surrender your heart to the Lord 00:07:15.16\00:07:18.17 and take up your cross and follow Jesus. 00:07:18.57\00:07:20.60 This idea that 00:07:21.10\00:07:25.64 you don't know your condition is because you're not keeping 00:07:25.84\00:07:28.31 your eyes on Je... you're not keeping your eyes on Jesus. 00:07:28.51\00:07:31.11 When we keep our eyes on Jesus Christ we will see 00:07:31.31\00:07:33.82 our great need of Him and we will not think of ourselves 00:07:34.02\00:07:37.65 as somebody that: "I am rich and increased with goods 00:07:37.85\00:07:40.82 and have need of nothing. " When you're keeping your eyes on 00:07:41.02\00:07:42.92 Jesus you know that He is your Savior and that He 00:07:43.12\00:07:46.03 is the One that can only give you salvation. 00:07:46.23\00:07:49.26 So daily following Jesus, 00:07:49.46\00:07:52.20 surrendering your heart to Him the first thing in the morning 00:07:52.40\00:07:55.94 you will avoid getting deceived. 00:07:56.14\00:07:57.94 Reading the Bible daily; spending time with Jesus: 00:07:58.34\00:08:00.81 this is how you avoid that Laodicean state. 00:08:01.01\00:08:03.38 Amen! Amen! All right! This is also from Pennsylvania. 00:08:03.58\00:08:07.75 Got quite a few in Pennsylvania here. 00:08:07.95\00:08:09.68 Says: "Can you explain Romans 8:29-30? 00:08:09.88\00:08:13.92 Does this mean that everyone's faith in Jesus 00:08:14.12\00:08:16.89 and calling by God is already predestined? " 00:08:17.09\00:08:20.36 I'm going to take that one. Romans 8:29 says: 00:08:20.56\00:08:23.70 "For whom He foreknew He also predestined... " 00:08:23.90\00:08:27.34 Well let's begin with verse 28. 00:08:27.54\00:08:29.34 "We know all things work together for good 00:08:29.74\00:08:31.67 to those who love God to those who are called 00:08:31.87\00:08:34.68 according to His purpose. 00:08:34.88\00:08:36.31 For whom He foreknew He also predestined 00:08:36.51\00:08:41.42 to be conformed to the image of His Son. " 00:08:41.62\00:08:43.75 What is that saying? 00:08:44.15\00:08:45.49 God's going to work out every- thing. Even when bad things 00:08:45.59\00:08:48.66 happen in your life to help you become a little more 00:08:48.86\00:08:53.36 like Jesus. Yes, anyone who is in Christ Jesus, 00:08:53.56\00:08:58.20 anyone who has been born again 00:08:58.40\00:09:01.10 and accepted Christ as their Savior 00:09:01.30\00:09:03.64 and filled with the Holy Spirit 00:09:03.84\00:09:05.71 your destiny is to become like Jesus. Amen! Amen! 00:09:05.91\00:09:11.18 Amen and Amen. OK... umm... let's see here. 00:09:11.38\00:09:15.72 Ryan: Is reincarnation a Christian belief? 00:09:15.92\00:09:19.69 My sister believes in it and she's writing a book about 00:09:19.89\00:09:23.09 reincarnation. I'm a Christian and do not believe in it. 00:09:23.29\00:09:25.93 From a viewer in Washington, D.C. 00:09:26.13\00:09:28.33 Actually OK, that's a great question. 00:09:28.53\00:09:30.13 First of all, if you're a true Christian 00:09:30.33\00:09:32.47 then you are a Bible Christian. 00:09:32.67\00:09:34.00 And to answer that question very easily and quickly: No, 00:09:34.14\00:09:37.31 it is not a Christian belief be- cause it's not a Bible belief. 00:09:37.51\00:09:40.21 First of all, there may be some- one watching that doesn't even 00:09:40.61\00:09:42.51 know what reincarnation is. It's basically 00:09:42.71\00:09:44.65 a belief that many paganistic faiths share. 00:09:44.85\00:09:48.22 A couple that really come to mind that are world religions 00:09:48.42\00:09:50.52 such as Buddhism or Hinduism 00:09:50.72\00:09:52.45 believe in reincarnation which is basically 00:09:52.65\00:09:55.72 a spiritualistic belief that the soul or the spirit - 00:09:55.92\00:09:59.23 I'm using that interchangeably from a worldly perspective 00:09:59.43\00:10:01.70 because we believe in the Bible that the soul and the 00:10:01.90\00:10:03.60 spirit are two separate things - but from a worldly kind of 00:10:03.80\00:10:07.24 religious perspective many people believe that the soul 00:10:07.44\00:10:09.57 and the spirit are kind of interchangeable. 00:10:09.77\00:10:11.11 They believe that that's immortal. 00:10:11.27\00:10:12.87 That the soul/the spirit lives on. It just goes you know on 00:10:13.07\00:10:16.31 and just lives. And in the case of reincarnation 00:10:16.51\00:10:18.41 or what many people might call transmigration of the soul 00:10:18.61\00:10:22.05 or the spirit, people who believe in reincarnation 00:10:22.25\00:10:24.69 believe that for instance if a person dies 00:10:24.89\00:10:27.39 then that soul or that spirit can then travel on or migrate 00:10:27.59\00:10:31.23 to another body source of some kind... 00:10:31.43\00:10:34.56 whether it be a person or an animal. 00:10:34.76\00:10:36.63 And it even kind of goes along with the idea of karma... which 00:10:36.83\00:10:39.73 is, you know, if you've done... your actions and your behavior 00:10:39.93\00:10:42.60 in this life is good then more than likely you'll go on 00:10:42.80\00:10:45.77 to be in another body or form that is good. 00:10:45.97\00:10:48.84 If you haven't, then you'll get what is paid to you 00:10:49.04\00:10:51.81 according to your behavior and actions. 00:10:52.01\00:10:53.82 The Bible makes it very clear 00:10:54.02\00:10:55.82 that we DO NOT have an immortal soul. 00:10:56.02\00:10:57.52 The Bible says that "only God is immortal. " 00:10:57.72\00:10:59.92 That soul or spirit... Of course, we know the soul 00:11:00.12\00:11:02.92 to be a person, a living being. 00:11:03.12\00:11:05.03 When a person dies the Bible makes it clear 00:11:05.23\00:11:06.93 my friend. Ecclesiastes 9 verse 5 and 6: 00:11:07.13\00:11:09.40 "For the living know that they shall die but the dead know not 00:11:09.60\00:11:12.77 anything. Neither have they any more reward 00:11:12.97\00:11:15.00 for the memory of them is forgotten. 00:11:15.20\00:11:17.04 Also their love, their hatred, their envy... " 00:11:17.24\00:11:19.57 All of those feelings, all of those things that 00:11:19.77\00:11:21.64 an aware person, a person of intelligence might have 00:11:21.84\00:11:24.78 that ceases to exist because they're sleeping in the grave. 00:11:25.18\00:11:29.82 Another text that comes to mind I think is found over 00:11:30.02\00:11:32.02 in Psalms. Let's see if I can find it here. 00:11:32.22\00:11:34.39 Psalm chapter 115 and we're looking at verse 17. 00:11:34.59\00:11:38.73 It says: "The dead do not praise the Lord 00:11:38.93\00:11:40.60 nor any that go down into silence. " 00:11:40.80\00:11:42.60 What the Bible teaches is that the soul/person 00:11:42.80\00:11:46.13 once they cease to live they go back to the earth 00:11:46.33\00:11:49.70 and they sleep in the grave until the resurrection 00:11:49.90\00:11:52.41 of Jesus Christ at the second coming. Amen. 00:11:52.61\00:11:54.28 So to make it clear: reincarnation IS NOT 00:11:54.48\00:11:56.95 a Christian belief. It's not a Biblical belief. 00:11:57.15\00:11:58.71 It's a spiritualistic belief 00:11:58.91\00:12:02.12 that is not foundationed on Scripture. 00:12:02.32\00:12:04.19 So believe what the Bible says. 00:12:04.35\00:12:06.32 And let me give you two Scripture references on that 00:12:06.52\00:12:08.82 because I Timothy 6:16 00:12:09.02\00:12:12.06 Paul says: "God alone has immortality" at this time. 00:12:12.26\00:12:17.77 And in I Corinthians 15 verse 54 00:12:17.97\00:12:23.41 it says that we will "put on immortality 00:12:23.61\00:12:28.24 at the last trumpet when Jesus returns. " 00:12:28.44\00:12:30.95 So those who have everlasting life 00:12:31.15\00:12:34.68 will be given that from Jesus. 00:12:34.88\00:12:36.69 All right. Jill: When Jesus called... This is from Florida. 00:12:36.89\00:12:40.26 When Jesus called His disciples was there any significance 00:12:40.46\00:12:44.66 in the positions each of them were in when He called them? 00:12:44.86\00:12:47.76 For example, Matthew was sitting at the receipt of custom 00:12:47.96\00:12:52.23 as a tax collector. Was there any meaning behind 00:12:52.43\00:12:55.80 why He called these people in those situations? 00:12:56.00\00:12:58.27 That's a great question. I don't know who... who 00:12:58.47\00:13:00.21 sent it in, but thank you for that question 00:13:00.41\00:13:02.34 from Florida... it's a great question. 00:13:02.54\00:13:03.88 I think when Jesus called the disciples they were fishing. 00:13:04.01\00:13:06.95 They were doing their everyday occupations. 00:13:07.15\00:13:09.32 Peter and James and John and Andrew. 00:13:09.52\00:13:11.65 I think about... Of course Matthew was sitting 00:13:11.85\00:13:13.66 at the receipt of customs. 00:13:13.86\00:13:15.19 You know what it tells me is that it doesn't matter 00:13:15.26\00:13:17.89 where you are, it doesn't matter what your occupation is, 00:13:18.09\00:13:21.96 it doesn't matter where you live... 00:13:22.16\00:13:23.57 the Lord Jesus can find you. 00:13:23.77\00:13:26.23 And the Lord Jesus wants to call you. 00:13:26.43\00:13:28.77 To me that's an incredible thing that He can search 00:13:28.97\00:13:31.87 the entire world over. David tells us in Psalms 00:13:32.07\00:13:35.08 "Where can I flee from Your Spirit? 00:13:35.28\00:13:36.91 Where can I go from You? " 00:13:37.11\00:13:38.45 We CANNOT hide from God... Jonah taught us that. 00:13:38.51\00:13:41.32 But know that wherever you are that God will 00:13:41.52\00:13:43.99 reach you and He will find you 00:13:44.19\00:13:46.15 and He will call you in His service. 00:13:46.35\00:13:48.66 One other thing that just popped in my mind 00:13:48.86\00:13:50.73 is that Elisha was... What was he doing? 00:13:50.93\00:13:52.56 Plowing in his father's field. 00:13:52.76\00:13:54.60 So one of the things - I think one of the qualifications 00:13:55.00\00:13:57.60 for being called in service 00:13:57.80\00:13:59.57 is that you do the thing that your hand finds to do. 00:13:59.77\00:14:03.24 Do whatever is right in front of you 00:14:03.44\00:14:06.47 and then God might just give you something else to do too. 00:14:06.68\00:14:09.44 Amen and Amen! 00:14:09.84\00:14:11.41 All right. Jason: this is from South Africa 00:14:11.61\00:14:15.35 near Cape Town. Um-hmm. 00:14:15.55\00:14:16.89 Let's see... it says: 00:14:17.15\00:14:19.19 What is your motivation for following Jesus 00:14:19.39\00:14:22.12 and telling the world about His good news? 00:14:22.32\00:14:24.56 I love that! That's an excellent question. 00:14:24.76\00:14:26.39 My motivation? Well, one, it started with my training 00:14:26.59\00:14:30.07 as a child. My mother trained me up in the way that I 00:14:30.27\00:14:32.37 should go. Now I left the church for about 14 years 00:14:32.57\00:14:35.87 and I made horrible decisions. 00:14:36.07\00:14:38.61 And as a result... that comes as a result of not 00:14:38.81\00:14:41.74 following God... So I've seen the decisions that 00:14:41.94\00:14:44.41 I make on my own when I'm serving myself 00:14:44.61\00:14:47.32 or serving the enemy 00:14:47.52\00:14:48.98 and then I've seen the decisions that I make 00:14:49.38\00:14:52.55 when I'm serving God because its' God working 00:14:52.75\00:14:54.86 on me, in me, and through me to bring about those decisions. 00:14:55.06\00:14:58.69 And so why do I serve God? 00:14:58.89\00:15:02.06 Because, one: He first loved me. 00:15:02.46\00:15:04.77 He loved me with an everlasting love 00:15:04.97\00:15:06.47 and He loved me so much that He sent His only begotten Son 00:15:06.77\00:15:10.54 to die on the cross for my sins. 00:15:10.74\00:15:12.67 Even while I was walking in darkness 00:15:12.87\00:15:14.81 Christ had sacrificed His life 00:15:15.21\00:15:18.21 so that I could have a "shot" at eternal life 00:15:18.41\00:15:21.35 if I would turn towards Him, accept Him as my personal Lord 00:15:21.55\00:15:24.32 and Savior. And so I'm motivated to share 00:15:24.52\00:15:26.99 Him with everybody because of the love and the protection 00:15:27.19\00:15:30.69 and the wonderful things that He's bestowed upon me. 00:15:30.89\00:15:34.36 He has shown His love in so many ways 00:15:34.56\00:15:37.13 and I've seen His hand of protection in my life 00:15:37.33\00:15:39.63 in so many ways and He's delivered me 00:15:39.83\00:15:42.40 from a life of darkness. Amen! 00:15:42.60\00:15:45.77 Amen and Amen! 00:15:45.97\00:15:47.81 We've got so many questions coming in. 00:15:48.01\00:15:49.68 Someone asked for me to break down begotten again, 00:15:49.88\00:15:53.95 so let me just do that very briefly. 00:15:54.15\00:15:55.68 In covenant language... In the Bible begotten can mean 00:15:56.25\00:16:00.99 that you were the biological father. 00:16:01.19\00:16:04.19 But in covenant language begotten means 00:16:04.39\00:16:07.50 to be set aside for God's special purpose 00:16:07.66\00:16:11.53 as His covenant son. 00:16:11.73\00:16:13.37 So for example when it talks about 00:16:13.57\00:16:16.57 Isaac being the only begotten son of Abraham... 00:16:16.77\00:16:20.24 Isaac... Ishmael was the oldest of Abraham's sons. 00:16:21.28\00:16:24.78 He had eight sons, but Isaac was the only begotten - 00:16:24.98\00:16:29.12 the unique son - through whom the covenant promises 00:16:29.32\00:16:32.42 would be passed. The same for Israel in Exodus 4:20... 00:16:32.62\00:16:37.16 excuse me... Deuteronomy 32 and verse 18. 00:16:37.56\00:16:41.43 God says: "Hey! I'm the Rock who begot you, Israel. " 00:16:41.93\00:16:47.77 They were the new covenant sons of God, 00:16:47.97\00:16:51.51 and He said: "I am the One who fathered you. " 00:16:51.71\00:16:54.58 They weren't the first nation but they were chosen 00:16:54.78\00:16:59.88 for a covenant purpose. The same with Jesus. 00:17:00.08\00:17:03.35 All right. Johnny, this is from Jamaica. 00:17:03.55\00:17:07.42 When did Jesus ask Peter those three questions? 00:17:08.26\00:17:11.89 I guess that would be: "Do you love Me? Do you love Me? 00:17:12.09\00:17:14.50 Do you love Me" that caused Peter to become 00:17:14.70\00:17:17.73 annoyed? Before Christ was crucified? Or after? 00:17:17.93\00:17:21.40 Well, the simple answer is after. 00:17:22.24\00:17:24.51 This is after Peter denied Jesus 00:17:24.81\00:17:27.18 and Jesus was resurrected. You can go to 00:17:27.38\00:17:31.25 the book of John chapter 21... I don't know if you may have 00:17:31.45\00:17:33.55 some words you may want to add... 00:17:33.75\00:17:36.08 This is after the crucifixion; after Jesus was resurrected. 00:17:36.48\00:17:41.02 And I think you've heard some good explanation of that 00:17:41.22\00:17:45.06 experience and so blessed be the name of the Lord. 00:17:45.26\00:17:48.83 Amen. 00:17:49.03\00:17:51.60 Ryan, this is from Virginia. 00:17:51.80\00:17:53.70 How did the wonderful book of Revelation 00:17:53.90\00:17:56.54 get off the island of Patmos where John wrote it? 00:17:56.74\00:18:00.38 OK, yeah... so we know that John was on the island of Patmos. 00:18:00.78\00:18:03.88 The Bible tells us that in Revelation 1:9. 00:18:04.08\00:18:06.11 And you have to kind of dig a little bit in history here. 00:18:06.95\00:18:10.05 I'm certainly not a scholar in this by any means. 00:18:10.25\00:18:12.69 I have not studied specifics as to how this would have gotten 00:18:12.89\00:18:16.12 off the island. The Bible does not tell us 00:18:16.32\00:18:18.36 how the book of Revelation got off the island, but we know 00:18:18.56\00:18:20.93 it did because we have it! 00:18:21.13\00:18:22.86 And so that being said there are some historical 00:18:23.06\00:18:26.07 suggestions as to how that could have happened. 00:18:27.00\00:18:29.07 You've got to keep in mind that church tradition, 00:18:29.27\00:18:31.97 church history and tradition tells us 00:18:32.17\00:18:34.11 that John was persecuted by Rome prior to even going 00:18:34.31\00:18:37.61 to the island of Patmos. And they were doing it 00:18:37.81\00:18:39.81 for the purpose just like they did all the other apostles. 00:18:40.02\00:18:42.68 They wanted to kill him but that didn't work. 00:18:42.88\00:18:44.72 And so they decided: "You know what? We're just going to exile 00:18:44.92\00:18:46.89 this guy. We're going to exile him to the island of Patmos. " 00:18:47.09\00:18:49.66 Now back in those days that would have kind of been like 00:18:49.86\00:18:51.79 an ancient old version of Alcatraz. 00:18:51.99\00:18:54.26 An island of its own. It didn't have all the bars 00:18:54.46\00:18:56.93 and all the things that they would put them in in cells 00:18:57.13\00:18:59.73 but they would exile them to these islands by themselves. 00:18:59.93\00:19:02.17 And by the way, even though the Bible doesn't specifically 00:19:02.37\00:19:05.21 say, history suggests that maybe John wasn't the only 00:19:05.41\00:19:08.74 one on this island. They would have perhaps 00:19:08.94\00:19:10.85 put other prisoners that they exiled on this island. 00:19:11.05\00:19:13.08 And there could have been some organization to this. 00:19:13.28\00:19:16.69 There probably were people there to make sure there was 00:19:16.89\00:19:18.32 order, and of course history suggests that 00:19:18.52\00:19:21.19 there ships that would come to and fro 00:19:21.39\00:19:23.73 from the mainland to the island to give food 00:19:23.93\00:19:26.29 and other provisions and things for the "inmates" 00:19:26.49\00:19:30.33 the prisoners until they served their time. 00:19:30.53\00:19:32.40 So there's a couple of suggestions. Perhaps maybe 00:19:32.60\00:19:34.84 John passed these letters on to someone who was 00:19:35.04\00:19:38.04 on one of those ships and that's how it got to 00:19:38.24\00:19:40.61 one of the churches. Again, these were originally written 00:19:40.81\00:19:42.88 to go to the seven churches, right? 00:19:43.08\00:19:44.58 This letter of Revelation was written to the seven churches. 00:19:44.78\00:19:47.12 And so that being said, it could have been by ship. 00:19:47.32\00:19:49.95 It could have been by some type of mail carrier. 00:19:50.15\00:19:51.65 Perhaps maybe they allowed them, maybe, we don't know. 00:19:51.85\00:19:54.06 But nonetheless, we know that John did get off that island. 00:19:54.26\00:19:58.79 He would have served his time. He would have gotten off 00:19:58.99\00:20:01.40 the island, and his first trip probably would have been 00:20:01.60\00:20:03.77 to Ephesus because in prox- imitry to the island of Patmos 00:20:03.97\00:20:07.00 Ephesus was the closest from the island 00:20:07.20\00:20:10.37 to the land. It was the closest city. 00:20:10.57\00:20:12.11 So whether it was by other hands or whether it was by 00:20:12.31\00:20:15.24 John's hand, that was what history suggests could possibly 00:20:15.44\00:20:17.88 be the way in which the book of Revelation got to us. 00:20:18.08\00:20:20.42 Amen and Amen! I love it! 00:20:20.62\00:20:23.42 Jilly: somebody is asking for your six points. 00:20:23.62\00:20:26.92 I just lost that. 00:20:27.12\00:20:28.49 If you can share - I do - those six points again. 00:20:28.69\00:20:32.43 The 6 points: this is our com- mitment, love's commitment 00:20:32.63\00:20:34.76 to follow Christ. Point #1: Decide to follow him. 00:20:34.96\00:20:38.53 Make a choice to follow the Lord Jesus Christ. 00:20:38.93\00:20:41.34 Point #2: Commit your plans, your ways, your life 00:20:41.54\00:20:46.41 to Him. Number 3: Be willing to follow Him 00:20:46.61\00:20:49.88 come what may. 00:20:50.08\00:20:52.08 Number 4: Love others. 00:20:52.28\00:20:55.88 Number 5: Intercede for others. 00:20:56.08\00:20:59.59 And number 6: Never be ashamed of Christ, 00:20:59.79\00:21:02.62 His Word, or His people. 00:21:02.82\00:21:05.06 Now you're probably saying: "I could not write 00:21:05.26\00:21:06.90 that fast, Jill" so I encourage you 00:21:07.10\00:21:08.93 Sabbath School Panel is on YouTube. 00:21:09.13\00:21:10.87 Go to YouTube and you can stop it and write down 00:21:11.07\00:21:13.23 each one of those points. Amen, amen. 00:21:13.44\00:21:16.00 Those are excellent points. 00:21:16.20\00:21:17.54 All right. This one's for me from New York. 00:21:17.57\00:21:20.34 Why wasn't Jesus concerned with being successful 00:21:21.41\00:21:26.92 in the way the world views success? 00:21:27.12\00:21:30.49 Boy, that's interesting. 00:21:30.69\00:21:32.02 Because the world is upside down. There's 2 dynamics 00:21:32.12\00:21:35.26 of power. There is the love of power 00:21:35.46\00:21:38.49 which originated with Satan. 00:21:38.69\00:21:41.26 It's a controlling, demanding, me first, 00:21:41.46\00:21:46.80 I'm going to protect my interest type power. 00:21:47.00\00:21:49.80 That's the kind of power that the world gives. 00:21:50.01\00:21:53.21 But then there is the power of love. Amen! 00:21:53.61\00:21:58.81 And God operates by the power of love. 00:21:59.01\00:22:03.55 He gave us free will. He does not demand 00:22:03.95\00:22:07.36 that we follow Him. But He woo's us 00:22:07.56\00:22:11.69 by His everlasting love. 00:22:11.89\00:22:13.50 I'm going to tag another one on here that someone sent. 00:22:13.70\00:22:17.60 So why does God need our praise? 00:22:17.80\00:22:20.90 I'm just going to say this: 00:22:21.10\00:22:23.41 God prescribes praise for us. 00:22:23.81\00:22:27.41 Not because it changes Him 00:22:27.71\00:22:29.61 but because it changes us. That's right. 00:22:29.91\00:22:31.85 When we begin to praise the Lord 00:22:32.05\00:22:35.35 I cannot tell you how many times 00:22:35.55\00:22:37.72 I have started off to go to prayer 00:22:37.92\00:22:40.26 and I'm down in the dumps. Something bad is happening. 00:22:40.46\00:22:44.39 But I always begin my prayer with praise. 00:22:44.59\00:22:48.40 And as I begin to acknowledge who He is 00:22:48.80\00:22:52.47 and I'm praising Him and I enter His courts with 00:22:52.67\00:22:55.74 thanksgiving in my heart thank- ing Him for all of my blessings 00:22:55.94\00:23:00.04 remembering how powerful He is 00:23:00.24\00:23:02.04 it is amazing how God changes my attitude. 00:23:02.24\00:23:07.92 The Bible says God inhabits, He dwells 00:23:08.12\00:23:12.79 in the praises of His people. So I personally think 00:23:12.99\00:23:16.16 praise draws us closer to Him. 00:23:16.36\00:23:19.39 All right. Johnny, in Acts 9:5 00:23:19.79\00:23:23.83 it says: "It's hard for you to kick against the goads. " 00:23:24.03\00:23:27.57 What does this mean? This is from Jamaica. 00:23:27.77\00:23:30.41 Hello to Jamaica. 00:23:31.41\00:23:32.91 This phrase: "It's hard for you to kick against the goads" 00:23:33.88\00:23:37.71 in the King James "the pricks" 00:23:37.91\00:23:39.85 this is in reference to the way animals were farmed then 00:23:40.25\00:23:44.72 and still is done in some places 00:23:44.92\00:23:47.49 where there is... In those days there was a piece of iron 00:23:47.69\00:23:50.53 attached to a stick, and it was to drive the animal 00:23:50.73\00:23:53.76 in the direction he should go. 00:23:53.96\00:23:55.33 And if this animal resisted then he's hurting himself 00:23:55.53\00:23:58.90 because it's driven further into his flesh. 00:23:59.30\00:24:02.64 So the Holy Spirit had been working upon Paul 00:24:03.04\00:24:06.57 to become a Christian, to stop persecuting the Christians 00:24:06.78\00:24:10.21 and become one... and he was resisting. 00:24:10.41\00:24:12.68 Because Jesus said in John 16 00:24:12.88\00:24:16.58 that the time is coming when they that persecute you 00:24:16.79\00:24:19.82 and kill you... they think they're doing God's service. 00:24:20.02\00:24:22.39 This is what Paul was thinking: "I'm doing the service of 00:24:22.59\00:24:24.89 the Lord by killing these Christians. " 00:24:25.09\00:24:27.20 And so he was resisting the Holy Spirit 00:24:27.40\00:24:30.07 and when that bright light surrounded him and Jesus 00:24:30.27\00:24:32.93 spoke to him he realized: "Wait a minute! 00:24:33.13\00:24:35.50 This is not something common; this is something divine. " 00:24:35.70\00:24:38.27 Um-hmm. And when Jesus said: "Why do you persecute Me? 00:24:38.47\00:24:41.58 It's hard for you to kick against the pricks. " 00:24:42.81\00:24:44.61 Now some commentators say that this "kick against the pricks" 00:24:44.81\00:24:49.25 was inserted from Acts chapter 26 into verse 9. 00:24:49.45\00:24:53.66 It's in the Bible so... 00:24:54.19\00:24:56.86 this is the meaning: that he was resisting the Holy Spirit. 00:24:57.06\00:24:59.39 Amen and Amen. Jill: How can a God 00:25:00.50\00:25:04.10 so loving be so demanding? 00:25:04.30\00:25:06.84 That's a great question. 00:25:07.04\00:25:08.37 You know, I do not believe God is demanding. 00:25:08.40\00:25:10.71 I believe God is holy. 00:25:11.11\00:25:13.21 Amen! If you look at I Peter chapter 1 00:25:13.41\00:25:15.54 I Peter 1 verses 15 and 16 00:25:15.74\00:25:18.51 it says: "As He who called you is holy 00:25:18.71\00:25:20.62 be you also holy in all your conversation 00:25:20.82\00:25:23.32 because it is written: 'Be holy for I am holy. ' " 00:25:23.52\00:25:26.62 From eternity God the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit 00:25:27.52\00:25:30.79 were holy. When God created this world 00:25:30.99\00:25:34.50 Genesis 1, Genesis 2... Adam and Eve: 00:25:34.70\00:25:36.93 perfect holiness, unity, harmony. 00:25:37.13\00:25:39.33 Sin brought disconnection from God and disunity. 00:25:39.73\00:25:43.64 God is not demanding... His law has never changed. 00:25:43.84\00:25:46.88 His law is holy. It's just; it's good. 00:25:47.28\00:25:50.58 At the same time He wants to work His character, 00:25:50.98\00:25:54.45 His love, His law in your heart and in mine so that 00:25:54.65\00:25:59.49 we can be holy. We can't be holy of ourselves. 00:25:59.69\00:26:02.96 It is God who works in us both too will and to do 00:26:03.16\00:26:06.26 of His good pleasure. He's the One who changes us. 00:26:06.46\00:26:09.53 Amen and Amen! 00:26:09.73\00:26:11.93 OK... I'll tell you: this is wonderful. I think we have time 00:26:12.13\00:26:14.84 for a very short question or a short answer 00:26:15.04\00:26:18.57 to a question from Indonesia. 00:26:18.77\00:26:20.71 What can we do to have a revival in the church? 00:26:20.91\00:26:23.71 Just give us some quick thoughts. 00:26:23.91\00:26:25.91 Well we need to seek Jesus. 00:26:26.31\00:26:29.38 We need to put away the unimportant things 00:26:29.58\00:26:31.72 of the world and we need to focus our attention 00:26:31.92\00:26:34.02 on the uplifted Savior. As it says in John chapter 3 00:26:34.22\00:26:36.52 He said: "As Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness 00:26:36.73\00:26:40.23 so shall the Son of Man be lifted up. " 00:26:40.43\00:26:41.80 When we focus on Jesus then the work of the Holy Spirit 00:26:42.00\00:26:44.90 comes and blows through our heart for transformation. 00:26:45.10\00:26:47.24 Amen. And you know I just think about Romans 5:5 00:26:47.44\00:26:49.54 where it says: "God pours His love into our hearts 00:26:49.74\00:26:52.37 by the power of the Holy Spirit. " 00:26:52.57\00:26:53.91 We need to open our hearts and let God pour His love 00:26:54.08\00:26:57.38 for other people. Because when you begin to love the world 00:26:57.58\00:27:01.28 like God loves the world 00:27:01.48\00:27:02.92 you WILL be out witnessing. 00:27:03.12\00:27:05.59 You know, we are coming to the end of our time here. 00:27:05.79\00:27:09.42 I can't believe how rapidly. Thank you panel - all - 00:27:09.62\00:27:12.99 for your answers.
