a couple years ago.

Well it actually went
back to probably around 2013.

We were in Kentucky at the
time. We'd been living there

for about 20 years.
Our son, who is a pastor

in another denomination,
moved back to our home area

in Springfield, MO,
and we chose to come back

to help him with our grandkids
and to help with our aging

parents. In doing so we
did not realize it would

only be a couple of
years before he left.

So it was very
discouraging when that happened.

And also - at
the very same time -

that year, about 2015,
I suffered what they call

a widow-maker heart attack.

Wow! Had two stents put in.

Was in rehab for a while.

Was very discouraged, and
was just wondering, you know,

what you're
prone to do: "Why me? "

But on the other hand,
we chose to buy my wife's

childhood home where
she lived and grew up.

We needed the Internet, and
we had not had TV in our home

for quite a while.
We'd kind of given up on

secular TV. But it happened
to come with a cable package.

So I was flipping
through the channels one evening

and... Hmm... flipping
through the channels? Yeah.

"Why haven't I heard this? "

I grew up in a church that was
very God-fearing and Bible-based

and we learned all of the

about Jesus and Jonah,
the ark and everything.

But we hadn't heard
some of these things and

why not the
connection with the Sabbath.

We thought we were
keeping the Sabbath

by going on Sunday.
So in essence we started

learning, and as Pastor
Ryan was saying this morning

it was like trying to
drink from a fire hydrant.

I mean, things just
started coming through

and all of a sudden we
were hearing Pastor Doug

talk about living in a cave?

So our interest
kept being peaked.

And before you know it, I
am diagnosed with aggressive

prostate cancer.
Wow! And we have a surgery

that resulted in a
stroke very shortly after.

Wow! So in a year and a
half I suffered a heart attack,

cancer, and a stroke. Hmm!

And so again I go back
into this mindset: "Lord, why...

why is all this
happening to me? "

And all of a sudden it dawned
on me: with all of these other

pieces fitting together
that I had discovered 3ABN.

all this additional light

might have never had.
