And what does that really mean?

gone through an identity crisis?

Well, we don't
know just yet, do we?

to explain just a little bit

of what identity crisis is.
What is it? The word identity

notice - and fact of being...

specific person or thing.

to join or maybe associate

we're looking at an identity

and of course identify is a
word closely related to that.

So as we look at this today
we'd say: "Well identity what? "

Identity crisis.

What is a crisis? Well,
according to the dictionary

it says: "a turning point
in the course of anything;

a critical situation. "

Is it possible we're
in a critical situation

and maybe not even know it?

Maybe we've gone
through an identity crisis

something in your
life and we'll look at that

a little closer as we go.

Because you may be a person who
thought you had it all together.

You thought you
had things working out.

There was a plan. Everything
was going to work just exactly

and then all of a
sudden something happened.

They call it a crisis
maybe happened in your life.

I've met people who say:
"I've got it all together. "

I know you're not one
of those kind of people.

I've got it all together. We're
working by the grace of God.

But they found out... remember
they didn't really have it

together you begin to understand
some things that you didn't

understand before. New light
maybe... something going on.

The conversation that's
happening... but something is

changed and you

So I think it's an

a little bit confused.

of an identity crisis.

There are many
signs of identity crisis.

But maybe many are
going through it today

and they're just not sure

if that's really
what's taking place.

I want to just condense
it down because of our time.

Two quick
things: spiritual crisis.

Is it possible we could
have a spiritual crisis?

not too many people are familiar

with: legitimation crisis.

You might be having
a legitimation crisis.

You say: "Well, I'm
not sure what that is

so I don't know if
I'm having it or not. "

Let me just kind of define both.
Spiritual crisis: number one.

It's also called a
spiritual emergency.

See, I believe we're
living in an emergency time

of earth's history.
Something needs to be done.

Some lights
need to be turned on.

Some trumpets
need to be sounded.

So we're in that time.

This is a form
of identity crisis

where an individual
experiences drastic changes

taking place in their life.

Let me just give you a
couple examples of that...

the meaning.
They're having a crisis

over, you know,
some unique purpose.

They're just not really sure.

Their goals have been
challenged; their values

have been
challenged... their attitude.

It could even be your beliefs.

Now let's look at
legitimation crisis.

It's an identity crisis that re-
sults from a loss of confidence.

You may have lost
confidence in something.

confidence in something?

Probably all of us
have been through that.

But just listen through

We may have lost confidence
in administrative function.

It could be you've lost
confidence in leadership.

in where you buy a car.

in maybe a team that you

root for. But in
this kind of a crisis

of crisis that public attitude

is always considered.

Now that may sound a little bit
heavy, but I think it's worth

an identity crisis? " some
of you might answer differently

than you did to begin with

of things are taking place

whether they be good or bad.

And so we need some answers.

us to listen closely.

if we're Seventh-day Adventists
