You can see on the screen 00:00:30.13\00:00:31.49 that the title of our study today is 00:00:31.53\00:00:34.00 the Sword and the Captivity. 00:00:34.03\00:00:37.00 We're going to do a little review 00:00:37.03\00:00:38.37 of what we studied in the first two sessions, 00:00:38.40\00:00:40.74 and then we will enter new material. 00:00:40.77\00:00:43.17 But before we do, 00:00:43.20\00:00:44.54 we want to ask for the Lord's presence. 00:00:44.57\00:00:46.98 Never should we open God's word without prayer. 00:00:47.01\00:00:49.98 And so I invite you to bow your heads reverently with me 00:00:50.01\00:00:52.18 as we pray. 00:00:52.21\00:00:53.78 Father in heaven, 00:00:53.82\00:00:55.15 we thank You for the privilege of being here. 00:00:55.18\00:00:57.19 We especially thank You for Your word 00:00:57.22\00:01:00.02 which is a sure guide in a world that is so confused. 00:01:00.06\00:01:03.96 We ask Father that You will speak to us 00:01:03.99\00:01:06.09 through this word. 00:01:06.13\00:01:07.66 Give us understanding 00:01:07.70\00:01:09.43 and a willingness to live in harmony 00:01:09.46\00:01:11.27 with what You revealed to us. 00:01:11.30\00:01:13.44 Remove from our hearts any obstacle, 00:01:13.47\00:01:16.37 anything that might keep us from hearing Your voice, 00:01:16.40\00:01:19.67 for we want to do Your will, 00:01:19.71\00:01:21.84 and we ask this in the precious name of Jesus, 00:01:21.88\00:01:24.58 amen. 00:01:24.61\00:01:27.72 The title of this presentation is the Sword and the Captivity. 00:01:27.75\00:01:32.42 And what we want to do first is a review of 00:01:32.45\00:01:35.09 what we have studied so far. 00:01:35.12\00:01:37.89 We're studying the chain of prophetic prophecy. 00:01:37.93\00:01:42.16 We began with which kingdom 00:01:42.20\00:01:43.60 those of you who have been here? 00:01:43.63\00:01:45.53 We begin with Babylon, 605-539 BC. 00:01:45.57\00:01:49.70 Then we continue with the second kingdom. 00:01:49.74\00:01:51.67 What is that second kingdom? 00:01:51.71\00:01:53.44 Medo-Persia, 539-331 BC. 00:01:53.48\00:01:57.85 Then we have a third kingdom which is what? 00:01:57.88\00:02:00.18 Greece. 00:02:00.22\00:02:01.55 And Greece ruled from 331 BC to 168 BC. 00:02:01.58\00:02:06.69 And then we have a fourth beast 00:02:06.72\00:02:08.36 which is dreadful and terrible 00:02:08.39\00:02:09.72 and this fourth beast represents which kingdom? 00:02:09.76\00:02:12.86 It represents the Roman Empire. 00:02:12.89\00:02:15.40 But then this beast after it rules 00:02:15.43\00:02:18.17 for a significant amount of time 00:02:18.20\00:02:20.47 sprouts ten horns, 00:02:20.50\00:02:22.24 that means that the Roman Empire 00:02:22.27\00:02:23.84 was going to be what? 00:02:23.87\00:02:25.31 Was going to be divided and it was divided. 00:02:25.34\00:02:27.98 The nations of Europe today are the fruit 00:02:28.01\00:02:30.98 of the division of the Roman Empire. 00:02:31.01\00:02:33.45 They each have their language, their culture, 00:02:33.48\00:02:36.12 and it's been very difficult to try 00:02:36.15\00:02:37.95 and get them together, 00:02:37.99\00:02:39.32 no matter how much the European Union 00:02:39.35\00:02:42.56 has tried to stay together 00:02:42.59\00:02:44.46 because these nations are totally different 00:02:44.49\00:02:46.63 from one another. 00:02:46.66\00:02:48.30 And then after the Roman Empire is divided 00:02:48.33\00:02:51.10 into these ten kingdoms 00:02:51.13\00:02:52.47 which are the nations of Western Europe, 00:02:52.50\00:02:54.57 then in the midst of the ten rises what? 00:02:54.60\00:02:58.71 A little horn 00:02:58.74\00:03:00.18 and that little horn rules 00:03:00.21\00:03:02.44 from 538-1798 AD, 00:03:02.48\00:03:08.15 1260 years. 00:03:08.18\00:03:11.49 We're going to see in our study today. 00:03:11.52\00:03:13.92 So is the sequence clear? 00:03:13.96\00:03:16.09 We've gone from Babylon from 605 BC 00:03:16.12\00:03:19.79 all the way down to 1798 in the prophetic chain 00:03:19.83\00:03:23.90 without any interruptions, 00:03:23.93\00:03:25.47 no parenthesis, 00:03:25.50\00:03:27.24 one kingdom rising as soon as the previous kingdom falls. 00:03:27.27\00:03:31.67 In other words, 00:03:31.71\00:03:33.04 there is a sequence of connected links 00:03:33.07\00:03:35.88 in the prophetic chain. 00:03:35.91\00:03:37.85 Now in our last study together 00:03:37.88\00:03:40.02 we talked about the little horn 00:03:40.05\00:03:42.25 and we gave seven characteristics 00:03:42.28\00:03:44.85 of the little horn. 00:03:44.89\00:03:46.29 I want to review the first six characteristics 00:03:46.32\00:03:49.02 and then we will study characteristic number seven 00:03:49.06\00:03:52.86 which we left pending 00:03:52.89\00:03:54.96 for this particular lecture today. 00:03:55.00\00:03:57.67 And so I want to review 00:03:57.70\00:03:59.53 the six points that we studied in our lecture last time. 00:03:59.57\00:04:04.77 Number one, the little horn rises 00:04:04.81\00:04:08.41 according to prophecy 00:04:08.44\00:04:10.38 after the ten horns are in place. 00:04:10.41\00:04:13.95 Let me ask you, 00:04:13.98\00:04:15.32 when is the ten horns are in place, 00:04:15.35\00:04:17.12 in what year? 00:04:17.15\00:04:18.49 The year 476 AD, the ten kingdoms are there. 00:04:18.52\00:04:22.82 So we should expect the little horn to rise 00:04:22.86\00:04:25.49 after the year 476. 00:04:25.53\00:04:28.96 Secondly, the little horn rises in the midst of the ten. 00:04:29.00\00:04:33.47 Now the ten represent 00:04:33.50\00:04:34.84 the nations of Western Europe, 00:04:34.87\00:04:36.37 so this little horn must rise where? 00:04:36.40\00:04:38.74 Geographically in Western Europe, 00:04:38.77\00:04:40.51 but more specifically the little horn rises 00:04:40.54\00:04:42.91 from the head of the dragon beast 00:04:42.94\00:04:44.51 which represents Rome. 00:04:44.55\00:04:45.88 So the little horn must also be what? 00:04:45.91\00:04:48.58 It must also be Roman more specifically. 00:04:48.62\00:04:52.22 Characteristic number three, 00:04:52.25\00:04:54.12 this horn would uproot three kingdoms, 00:04:54.16\00:04:57.79 three of the ten kingdoms into which the empire was divided 00:04:57.83\00:05:02.36 would be uprooted by this little horn. 00:05:02.40\00:05:05.13 And then we noticed that this little horn 00:05:05.17\00:05:06.70 would speak blasphemies against the Most High 00:05:06.74\00:05:09.44 and we identify blasphemy 00:05:09.47\00:05:11.14 as a human power that claims that it can forgive sins 00:05:11.17\00:05:14.58 and claims to be God's representative on earth. 00:05:14.61\00:05:17.78 Then we noticed that the little horn also 00:05:17.81\00:05:20.08 would persecute the saints of the Most High. 00:05:20.12\00:05:22.38 In other words, the little horn would persecute 00:05:22.42\00:05:24.42 those who remained faithful to God. 00:05:24.45\00:05:27.26 And then we noticed also that the little horn would think 00:05:27.29\00:05:31.26 that it could change God's holy law 00:05:31.29\00:05:34.66 in some way or some manner. 00:05:34.70\00:05:36.93 Now let me ask you. 00:05:36.97\00:05:38.30 Does the Roman Catholic papacy fulfill 00:05:38.33\00:05:40.74 each and every one of these characteristics? 00:05:40.77\00:05:43.44 It does. 00:05:43.47\00:05:45.17 Does the Roman Catholic papacy rise after 476? 00:05:45.21\00:05:48.61 Yes. 00:05:48.64\00:05:49.98 Did it rise in Western Europe, more specifically in Rome? 00:05:50.01\00:05:53.05 Absolutely. 00:05:53.08\00:05:54.42 Did it uproot three of those ten kingdoms? 00:05:54.45\00:05:56.95 Yes, the Heruli, the Vandals and the Ostrogoths. 00:05:56.99\00:06:00.99 Does it speak blasphemies against the Most High? 00:06:01.02\00:06:03.93 Does the papacy claim to have the power to forgive sins? 00:06:03.96\00:06:06.80 Do they claim that 00:06:06.83\00:06:08.16 the pope is the representative of Christ on earth? 00:06:08.20\00:06:10.77 Absolutely. 00:06:10.80\00:06:12.13 Let me ask you. 00:06:12.17\00:06:13.50 Did the papacy in its history persecute the faithful of God 00:06:13.54\00:06:16.34 through the inquisition and many other methods? 00:06:16.37\00:06:18.97 Absolutely. 00:06:19.01\00:06:20.38 Does the papacy claim to have changed God's holy law? 00:06:20.41\00:06:23.75 Yes, the papacy openly says, 00:06:23.78\00:06:25.81 we changed the day of worship 00:06:25.85\00:06:28.18 from Sabbath to Sunday 00:06:28.22\00:06:30.19 without any biblical authorization. 00:06:30.22\00:06:33.49 They say, Jesus gave the Roman Catholic Church 00:06:33.52\00:06:36.22 the power to change the law if it saw necessary to do so. 00:06:36.26\00:06:42.13 And so the little horn represents the papacy. 00:06:42.16\00:06:46.50 Now before we deal 00:06:46.53\00:06:47.87 with characteristic number seven 00:06:47.90\00:06:49.64 which is the time period that the little horn rules. 00:06:49.67\00:06:53.27 I need to underline something that is very, very important. 00:06:53.31\00:06:57.21 And that is that the little horn 00:06:57.25\00:07:00.15 of Daniel 7 is the same as the beast 00:07:00.18\00:07:03.85 of Revelation 13:1-10. 00:07:03.89\00:07:06.05 So little horn and beast are interchangeable. 00:07:06.09\00:07:09.16 And you say, how do you know that? 00:07:09.19\00:07:11.39 For three reasons. 00:07:11.43\00:07:13.86 First of all the little horn and the beast 00:07:13.90\00:07:16.80 are in the same link of the prophetic chain. 00:07:16.83\00:07:20.40 They are in the same location of the prophetic chain. 00:07:20.44\00:07:23.47 Number two, the little horn 00:07:23.51\00:07:26.04 and the beast performed the same activities. 00:07:26.07\00:07:29.58 And number three, 00:07:29.61\00:07:31.08 the little horn and the beast ruled 00:07:31.11\00:07:33.31 for the same time period. 00:07:33.35\00:07:35.08 So we have three reasons 00:07:35.12\00:07:36.45 why we know that the little horn 00:07:36.48\00:07:38.52 and the beast represent the same power. 00:07:38.55\00:07:41.56 They are in the exact same location 00:07:41.59\00:07:43.83 in the prophetic chain. 00:07:43.86\00:07:45.39 Secondly they perform the same actions 00:07:45.43\00:07:47.80 and in the third place 00:07:47.83\00:07:49.30 they rule for the same time period. 00:07:49.33\00:07:51.83 And you're saying, "Well, where does prophecy tell us that?" 00:07:51.87\00:07:55.77 Well, now we need to look at what the Bible says about this. 00:07:55.80\00:08:00.11 Let's notice Revelation 13:1 and 2. 00:08:00.14\00:08:04.88 This is the first reason why 00:08:04.91\00:08:06.78 the little horn is the same thing as the beast. 00:08:06.82\00:08:09.42 And immediately in Revelation 13:1 and 2 00:08:09.45\00:08:12.12 you're going to see a connection with the prophecy 00:08:12.15\00:08:14.56 of Daniel 7 that we studied. 00:08:14.59\00:08:16.83 Notice what it says there in Revelation 13:1 and 2. 00:08:16.86\00:08:21.20 "Then I stood on the sand of the sea, writes John. 00:08:21.23\00:08:24.37 And I saw a beast rising up out of the sea, 00:08:24.40\00:08:27.54 having seven heads and ten horns, 00:08:27.57\00:08:29.74 and on his horns ten crowns, 00:08:29.77\00:08:31.54 and on his heads a blasphemous name." 00:08:31.57\00:08:34.21 Now listen to verse 2. 00:08:34.24\00:08:36.08 "Now the beast that I saw was like a what? 00:08:36.11\00:08:39.11 Like a leopard, and his feet were like the feet of a bear, 00:08:39.15\00:08:45.89 and his mouth was like the mouth of a lion. 00:08:45.92\00:08:50.73 The dragon gave the beast his power, his throne, 00:08:50.76\00:08:56.40 and great authority." 00:08:56.43\00:08:57.77 How many beasts are mentioned in this verse 2? 00:08:57.80\00:09:00.47 Four. 00:09:00.50\00:09:01.84 Is there a lion? Yes. 00:09:01.87\00:09:03.57 Is there a bear? Absolutely. 00:09:03.61\00:09:05.37 Is there a leopard? Sure. 00:09:05.41\00:09:06.91 Is there a dragon beast? 00:09:06.94\00:09:08.71 And by the way, the dragon beast has ten horns 00:09:08.74\00:09:10.71 according to Revelation 12. 00:09:10.75\00:09:12.98 So what I want you to see here is that 00:09:13.01\00:09:15.02 we have the same sequence in Revelation 13 00:09:15.05\00:09:17.65 that we have in Daniel 7. 00:09:17.69\00:09:19.49 The only difference is that in Revelation 13 00:09:19.52\00:09:23.86 the beasts are in reverse order. 00:09:23.89\00:09:26.46 In other words they're not in the same order as in Daniel. 00:09:26.49\00:09:29.50 In Daniel you have lion, bear, leopard, dragon, 00:09:29.53\00:09:34.50 ten horns and little horn. 00:09:34.54\00:09:37.27 In Revelation 13 you have in reverse order, 00:09:37.31\00:09:41.68 you have the ten horn dragon and then you have the leopard, 00:09:41.71\00:09:46.01 and then you have the bear, and then you have the lion. 00:09:46.05\00:09:49.18 Now the question is, 00:09:49.22\00:09:50.55 why does Daniel present the beasts lion, 00:09:50.59\00:09:53.25 bear, leopard, dragon, ten horns and little horn, 00:09:53.29\00:09:57.76 and in Revelation 13 00:09:57.79\00:09:59.69 John presents this as being in the opposite direction. 00:09:59.73\00:10:04.00 The reason is very simple. 00:10:04.03\00:10:06.00 Daniel is living in the period of the lion 00:10:06.03\00:10:09.07 and is looking forwards, 00:10:09.10\00:10:11.21 whereas John is living in the period of the dragon 00:10:11.24\00:10:14.64 and he is looking what? 00:10:14.68\00:10:16.24 He is looking backwards. 00:10:16.28\00:10:18.15 So we know that the prophetic chain is true 00:10:18.18\00:10:21.35 because you have the same sequence, 00:10:21.38\00:10:23.12 but in Revelation it's in reverse order 00:10:23.15\00:10:25.15 because John is living 00:10:25.19\00:10:26.55 in the period of the fourth beast 00:10:26.59\00:10:28.29 and the first three beasts have already passed away. 00:10:28.32\00:10:30.86 Are you with me or not? 00:10:30.89\00:10:32.29 So let me ask you. 00:10:32.33\00:10:33.66 Is the little horn and is the beast 00:10:33.70\00:10:35.70 in the same location of the prophetic chain? 00:10:35.73\00:10:38.33 Let me review it. 00:10:38.37\00:10:39.83 Lion, bear, leopard, dragon, 00:10:39.87\00:10:43.07 ten horns, little horn. 00:10:43.10\00:10:45.71 Revelation 13, lion, bear, leopard, 00:10:45.74\00:10:49.71 dragon, ten horns, beast. 00:10:49.74\00:10:52.35 So the little horn 00:10:52.38\00:10:53.72 and the beast are in the same location 00:10:53.75\00:10:55.85 of the prophetic chain. 00:10:55.88\00:10:57.85 The second reason that I mentioned is that 00:10:57.89\00:11:00.02 the little horn and the beast performed the same actions. 00:11:00.06\00:11:03.36 Notice Revelation 13 and we'll read verse 7 00:11:03.39\00:11:07.03 and then we'll read verse 5. 00:11:07.06\00:11:09.30 Revelation 13:7 says, "It was granted to him, 00:11:09.33\00:11:13.37 this is the beast, the same as the little horn, 00:11:13.40\00:11:15.74 to make war with the saints, and to overcome them." 00:11:15.77\00:11:19.77 Let me ask you, 00:11:19.81\00:11:21.14 did the little horn make war with the saints 00:11:21.18\00:11:23.01 and overcome them in Daniel 7? 00:11:23.04\00:11:25.38 Absolutely, but there is more. 00:11:25.41\00:11:27.52 it says, "And authority was given him over every tribe, 00:11:27.55\00:11:30.25 tongue, and nation." 00:11:30.29\00:11:31.62 And now in verse 5, 00:11:31.65\00:11:33.42 "And he was given, that is the beast, 00:11:33.46\00:11:35.59 was given a mouth..." 00:11:35.62\00:11:36.96 Did the little horn have a big mouth? 00:11:36.99\00:11:39.46 You can read it in Daniel 7. 00:11:39.49\00:11:40.86 Says, "He was given a mouth 00:11:40.90\00:11:43.06 speaking great things and blasphemies." 00:11:43.10\00:11:45.47 Did the little horn speak great things and blasphemies? 00:11:45.50\00:11:48.40 So let me ask you. 00:11:48.44\00:11:49.77 Do the little horn and the beast 00:11:49.80\00:11:51.51 performed the same actions. 00:11:51.54\00:11:53.98 Yes, so they must represent the same power. 00:11:54.01\00:11:57.58 Now number three is that 00:11:57.61\00:11:59.91 the beast and the little horn ruled for the same time period. 00:11:59.95\00:12:03.99 Notice Revelation 13:5 00:12:04.02\00:12:06.76 we'll complete reading the verse now. 00:12:06.79\00:12:08.92 It says, "And he, that is the beast, 00:12:08.96\00:12:10.86 was given a mouth speaking great things and blasphemies, 00:12:10.89\00:12:15.30 and he was given authority to continue how long, 00:12:15.33\00:12:19.07 to continue for forty-two months." 00:12:19.10\00:12:21.27 And I know you're thinking, you're saying, pastor, 00:12:21.30\00:12:23.41 that's not the same time period, 00:12:23.44\00:12:25.71 because in Daniel 7 it says 00:12:25.74\00:12:27.51 the little horn ruled for time, times 00:12:27.54\00:12:30.15 and the dividing of time 00:12:30.18\00:12:31.51 whereas in Revelation 13 00:12:31.55\00:12:32.88 it says the beast ruled for 42 months. 00:12:32.91\00:12:34.88 How can time, times and the dividing of time 00:12:34.92\00:12:37.69 be the same as 42 months? 00:12:37.72\00:12:39.92 This brings us to characteristic number seven 00:12:39.95\00:12:43.19 that we left pending in our last lecture. 00:12:43.22\00:12:46.59 Now what I want us to notice first of all is that 00:12:46.63\00:12:49.36 the word time in the Book of Daniel 00:12:49.40\00:12:53.40 refers to year. 00:12:53.44\00:12:57.07 Time is a year. 00:12:57.11\00:12:58.87 You say, well, how do you know that? 00:12:58.91\00:13:00.54 Very simple. 00:13:00.58\00:13:02.34 You remember in Daniel 4 00:13:02.38\00:13:04.31 that Nebuchadnezzar was out of it for a while. 00:13:04.35\00:13:08.88 How much time was going to pass for Nebuchadnezzar 00:13:08.92\00:13:13.19 before he regained his senses? 00:13:13.22\00:13:16.62 The angel said seven times will pass over you. 00:13:16.66\00:13:19.83 What did that mean, 00:13:19.86\00:13:21.20 seven times you're gonna pass over Nebuchadnezzar. 00:13:21.23\00:13:23.30 It means that he was going to be out of it for how long? 00:13:23.33\00:13:25.97 Seven years, 00:13:26.00\00:13:27.34 so there were time or times refers to what? 00:13:27.37\00:13:31.01 Years, that's the first point 00:13:31.04\00:13:32.74 that we want to notice. 00:13:32.77\00:13:34.44 And by the way time, times 00:13:34.48\00:13:36.18 and divided of time would be how many years? 00:13:36.21\00:13:38.75 Be three and half. 00:13:38.78\00:13:40.12 Time, one year, 00:13:40.15\00:13:41.48 times without a qualifier is the dual 00:13:41.52\00:13:44.82 in Hebrew that's two, 00:13:44.85\00:13:47.09 and half a time would be half a year, 00:13:47.12\00:13:48.96 so we're dealing with three and half years. 00:13:48.99\00:13:50.43 And there is no Bible scholar that disagrees 00:13:50.46\00:13:53.16 that these are three and half years, 00:13:53.19\00:13:54.60 the time, times 00:13:54.63\00:13:55.96 and the dividing of times are three and half years. 00:13:56.00\00:13:58.33 Doesn't matter 00:13:58.37\00:13:59.70 what denomination they belong to. 00:13:59.73\00:14:01.37 Now, the big question is, 00:14:01.40\00:14:03.17 are these literal years or are these symbolic years? 00:14:03.20\00:14:07.01 That's the big question. 00:14:07.04\00:14:08.64 Well, there are several evidences 00:14:08.68\00:14:10.45 that we're dealing with symbolic years. 00:14:10.48\00:14:13.92 The first reason why this is... 00:14:13.95\00:14:16.58 these years are symbolic is 00:14:16.62\00:14:18.29 because every thing in Daniel 7 is symbolic. 00:14:18.32\00:14:22.29 Let me ask you, is the lion symbolic? 00:14:22.32\00:14:25.09 Are the wings on the lion symbolic? 00:14:25.13\00:14:27.76 Is the bear symbolic? 00:14:27.80\00:14:29.80 Are the three ribs in the mouth of the bear symbolic? 00:14:29.83\00:14:32.97 Is the leopard symbolic? 00:14:33.00\00:14:34.90 Are the wings of the leopard symbolic? 00:14:34.94\00:14:37.47 Are the four heads of the leopard symbolic? 00:14:37.51\00:14:40.14 Is the dragon beast symbolic? 00:14:40.18\00:14:42.41 Last I knew there is no dragon beast 00:14:42.44\00:14:44.05 that exists in the real world. 00:14:44.08\00:14:45.78 Are the ten horns on the head of the fourth beast symbolic? 00:14:45.81\00:14:48.95 Yes. 00:14:48.98\00:14:50.32 Everything in this chapter is symbolic, 00:14:50.35\00:14:52.32 but the time is literal. 00:14:52.35\00:14:54.12 Now how much sense does that make? 00:14:54.16\00:14:56.52 Now, you'll notice also 00:14:56.56\00:14:58.56 that the expression has a symbolic flavor to it. 00:14:58.59\00:15:03.03 If I was going to... 00:15:03.06\00:15:05.10 If I was going to leave Fresno 00:15:05.13\00:15:06.47 and return in three and half years, 00:15:06.50\00:15:08.64 would I say to you, folks, don't worry, 00:15:08.67\00:15:11.07 I'll be back in time, times and the dividing of time. 00:15:11.11\00:15:15.38 If I said that, you would say, Pastor Bohr, 00:15:15.41\00:15:17.61 that's not the way that we describe time. 00:15:17.65\00:15:20.55 When the Bible wants to describe 00:15:20.58\00:15:22.05 three and half literal years, it does so like in James 5:17, 00:15:22.08\00:15:26.55 where it says that Elijah closed the heaven 00:15:26.59\00:15:29.36 so would not rain for three years and six months, 00:15:29.39\00:15:33.60 that's the normal way of expressing it, 00:15:33.63\00:15:35.56 and the Bible expresses it that way in James 5:17. 00:15:35.60\00:15:39.97 So the flavor of the expression is unusual. 00:15:40.00\00:15:44.97 Another important point is, 00:15:45.01\00:15:46.88 and by the way I don't have time to go all, 00:15:46.91\00:15:48.81 through all of this, 00:15:48.84\00:15:50.18 it would take me actually three hours to go 00:15:50.21\00:15:51.85 through a document that I wrote 00:15:51.88\00:15:54.28 for one of our summits a few years ago, 00:15:54.32\00:15:56.99 where I present 20 biblical reasons 00:15:57.02\00:16:00.72 for the year day principle. 00:16:00.76\00:16:02.09 In other words, 00:16:02.12\00:16:03.46 20 reasons why the years 00:16:03.49\00:16:06.93 of Daniel 7 are symbolic years. 00:16:06.96\00:16:10.37 And in a moment we're gonna talk about 00:16:10.40\00:16:12.10 what is known as the year day principle, 00:16:12.13\00:16:14.24 so there's not only one reason 00:16:14.27\00:16:15.64 why we can understand that this time period is symbolic. 00:16:15.67\00:16:18.84 There are 20 reasons in the Bible 00:16:18.87\00:16:21.04 why we can believe that time, times 00:16:21.08\00:16:23.58 and the dividing of time is symbolic language. 00:16:23.61\00:16:27.15 You see the Bible uses 00:16:27.18\00:16:28.58 what is known as the year day principle. 00:16:28.62\00:16:31.25 In other words, a day is equivalent to a year. 00:16:31.29\00:16:34.69 You say now where do you find such a thing in the Bible. 00:16:34.72\00:16:37.23 As I mentioned I gave 20 reasons, 00:16:37.26\00:16:39.23 but I'm only going to mention a couple of verses 00:16:39.26\00:16:41.50 that the Bible has about this. 00:16:41.53\00:16:44.37 Do you remember when the spies 00:16:44.40\00:16:46.40 were sent out to spy out the land? 00:16:46.43\00:16:49.60 And ten of them brought back a bad report 00:16:49.64\00:16:53.07 and two of them brought back a good report. 00:16:53.11\00:16:55.71 So what did God tell Israel 00:16:55.74\00:16:57.61 because the spies were in the land for 40 days 00:16:57.65\00:17:03.02 and because you're rebellious, 00:17:03.05\00:17:04.52 you're going to be in the wilderness how long? 00:17:04.55\00:17:07.19 You're going to be in the wilderness 40 years. 00:17:07.22\00:17:09.62 He says for each day what? 00:17:09.66\00:17:12.16 One year, 00:17:12.19\00:17:13.53 there you have the day representing what? 00:17:13.56\00:17:16.56 A year. 00:17:16.60\00:17:17.93 By the way that is in Numbers 14:34. 00:17:17.97\00:17:21.60 Also in Ezekiel 4:6 00:17:21.64\00:17:24.94 we find the same principle expressed. 00:17:24.97\00:17:27.14 I want to read that verse. 00:17:27.18\00:17:28.51 I wish we had time to expound upon the historical context 00:17:28.54\00:17:31.15 but we don't. 00:17:31.18\00:17:32.51 Ezekiel 4:6, and when... 00:17:32.55\00:17:34.82 He is speaking to Ezekiel. 00:17:34.85\00:17:36.58 "And when you have accomplished them, 00:17:36.62\00:17:39.25 lie again on your right side, 00:17:39.29\00:17:41.69 and you shall bear the iniquity 00:17:41.72\00:17:43.43 of the house of Judah forty days. 00:17:43.46\00:17:45.99 I have appointed you each day for what? 00:17:46.03\00:17:49.63 Each day for a year." 00:17:49.66\00:17:53.20 So what we need to understand 00:17:53.23\00:17:54.57 that is in the Bible one day is equal to what? 00:17:54.60\00:17:59.07 To a year. 00:17:59.11\00:18:00.44 Now, here's the big question. 00:18:00.48\00:18:01.84 Can we know how many days there are in a year 00:18:01.88\00:18:05.51 because we're dealing with three and half years, 00:18:05.55\00:18:07.48 so we need to find out 00:18:07.52\00:18:08.85 how many days are three and half years. 00:18:08.88\00:18:11.35 Are you with me? 00:18:11.39\00:18:12.72 And then apply them symbolically. 00:18:12.75\00:18:15.16 Can we know biblically how many days the year had? 00:18:15.19\00:18:18.79 And the answer is no. 00:18:18.83\00:18:21.70 We don't have any place in the Bible 00:18:21.73\00:18:23.33 that tells us that the year has 360 days. 00:18:23.37\00:18:28.17 So you'll say, Pastor Bohr, how can we find out, 00:18:28.20\00:18:31.67 how much, how many years is, 00:18:31.71\00:18:34.18 how many days is three and half years 00:18:34.21\00:18:36.41 if the Bible doesn't tell us how many days are in a year. 00:18:36.44\00:18:40.78 Well, the good news is that the Bible does tell us that 00:18:40.82\00:18:43.62 there are 12 months in the year. 00:18:43.65\00:18:46.12 You can find that in the Book of Esther 8:12. 00:18:46.15\00:18:50.66 And the Bible also tells us that each month has 30 days. 00:18:50.69\00:18:57.00 So if each month has 30 days, 00:18:57.03\00:18:59.63 what do you do to find out how many days the year has. 00:18:59.67\00:19:02.30 All you have to do is multiply 12 months 00:19:02.34\00:19:04.77 which the Bible says 00:19:04.81\00:19:06.14 there are 12 months to a year by how much? 00:19:06.17\00:19:08.54 By 30 days and the result is what? 00:19:08.58\00:19:11.45 Three hundred and sixty. 00:19:11.48\00:19:13.08 So by knowing the number of days in the month, 00:19:13.11\00:19:15.82 we can find out how many days there are in a what? 00:19:15.85\00:19:20.19 In a year. 00:19:20.22\00:19:21.96 Are you with me so far? 00:19:21.99\00:19:23.56 Now, but you're saying Pastor Bohr, 00:19:23.59\00:19:25.06 you haven't proved that the biblical month has 30 days. 00:19:25.09\00:19:28.63 And you're right. 00:19:28.66\00:19:30.00 And that's the point that we're going to go to now. 00:19:30.03\00:19:32.13 We're going to prove biblically 00:19:32.17\00:19:34.47 that the biblical month has 30 days. 00:19:34.50\00:19:36.30 If the biblical month has 30 days 00:19:36.34\00:19:38.34 all you have to is multiply 30 times 00:19:38.37\00:19:41.34 12 months of the year and the result is 360. 00:19:41.38\00:19:45.15 And because you have time, that's one year 360 days, 00:19:45.18\00:19:49.28 times that's two 720 days, 00:19:49.32\00:19:52.45 and half a time 180 days that would be how long, 00:19:52.49\00:19:56.52 time, times and the dividing of time. 00:19:56.56\00:19:58.59 It would be 1260 days, 00:19:58.63\00:20:02.06 but in prophecy days are equal to years. 00:20:02.10\00:20:05.00 Are you following me or not? 00:20:05.03\00:20:06.37 This is a very short lesson on math. 00:20:06.40\00:20:08.67 And some people find it very complicated 00:20:08.70\00:20:10.91 to be able to figure it out 00:20:10.94\00:20:12.31 but it's not really complicated. 00:20:12.34\00:20:14.28 Now, what is the first reason 00:20:14.31\00:20:16.04 we can know that the biblical month has 30 days. 00:20:16.08\00:20:20.82 Well, the fact is that this period of the little horn 00:20:20.85\00:20:23.89 is expressed in three different ways. 00:20:23.92\00:20:27.36 It is expressed as time, times and the dividing of time. 00:20:27.39\00:20:33.80 That's in Daniel 7, and also in Revelation 12. 00:20:33.83\00:20:38.50 It is expressed as 42 months in Revelation 11 00:20:38.53\00:20:43.61 which we're not gonna get into also 00:20:43.64\00:20:45.47 in Revelation 13:5 that we ready. 00:20:45.51\00:20:48.44 And it is also described 00:20:48.48\00:20:50.35 in Revelation 12 as 1260 days. 00:20:50.38\00:20:56.45 Now this is interesting. 00:20:56.48\00:20:58.32 Now let me ask you this. 00:20:58.35\00:20:59.99 If you multiply 42 months, 00:21:00.02\00:21:03.09 and how much days does the month have? 00:21:03.12\00:21:04.99 Thirty days, okay, 00:21:05.03\00:21:06.36 if you multiply 42 months time 30 days, 00:21:06.39\00:21:09.26 what is the total? 00:21:09.30\00:21:10.97 1260. 00:21:11.00\00:21:13.57 If you multiply three and half years 00:21:13.60\00:21:15.90 times 360 days per year, 00:21:15.94\00:21:18.51 what is the total? 00:21:18.54\00:21:20.08 1260 days. 00:21:20.11\00:21:23.01 And if you still didn't get it, 00:21:23.04\00:21:25.38 in Revelation 12 it says that the dragon went after the woman 00:21:25.41\00:21:29.42 and persecuted the woman for 1260 days. 00:21:29.45\00:21:34.76 So how many days does a biblical month have? 00:21:34.79\00:21:37.66 The biblical month has to have 30 days 00:21:37.69\00:21:39.83 because 30 days times 42 months is 1260. 00:21:39.86\00:21:46.17 So how long was the little horn going to rule? 00:21:46.20\00:21:49.67 It was going to rule from its inception till the time 00:21:49.70\00:21:52.44 when it ceased to rule 1260 what? 00:21:52.47\00:21:57.71 1260 days but days are equaled to years. 00:21:57.75\00:22:03.45 The papacy was to rule from 538 to 1798. 00:22:03.49\00:22:07.92 And we'll talk a little bit what, 00:22:07.96\00:22:09.29 about what happened in 1798 in a few moments. 00:22:09.32\00:22:12.76 There is a second reason why we know 00:22:12.79\00:22:14.73 that the biblical month has 30 days. 00:22:14.76\00:22:17.47 And this is early in the Bible, 00:22:17.50\00:22:19.03 this is in the Book of Genesis from the very beginning. 00:22:19.07\00:22:21.77 Go with me to Genesis 7:11 and 12, 00:22:21.80\00:22:25.94 Genesis 7:11 and 12. 00:22:25.97\00:22:28.58 I want you to notice this carefully. 00:22:28.61\00:22:30.65 "In the six hundredth year of Noah's life, 00:22:30.68\00:22:34.72 in the second month..." 00:22:34.75\00:22:36.48 What day? 00:22:39.72\00:22:41.66 "The seventeenth day of the month, 00:22:41.69\00:22:45.56 on that day all the fountains of the great deep 00:22:45.59\00:22:47.30 were broken up, 00:22:47.33\00:22:48.66 and the windows of the heaven were opened." 00:22:48.70\00:22:50.03 So when did the flood come? 00:22:50.07\00:22:51.47 The flood came in the six hundredth year 00:22:51.50\00:22:53.34 of Noah's life, 00:22:53.37\00:22:54.70 the second month and the seventeenth day, 00:22:54.74\00:22:56.74 remember that date, okay. 00:22:56.77\00:22:59.24 Now let's go to Genesis 8:3-5, 00:22:59.27\00:23:02.64 Genesis 8:3-5, 00:23:02.68\00:23:04.01 see this is all I find in the Bible, 00:23:04.05\00:23:05.91 we're not just guessing, 00:23:05.95\00:23:07.28 we're not conjecturing, you know, 00:23:07.32\00:23:08.65 we're letting the Bible explain itself. 00:23:08.68\00:23:10.39 The Holy Spirit put in the Bible 00:23:10.42\00:23:11.85 everything we need to understand the Bible. 00:23:11.89\00:23:14.09 You know, the Holy Spirit 00:23:14.12\00:23:15.46 didn't make pastors and theologians necessary, 00:23:15.49\00:23:17.93 absolutely indispensable. 00:23:17.96\00:23:20.90 I'm not saying that theologians and pastors are unnecessary. 00:23:20.93\00:23:24.30 What I'm saying is that if we didn't have them, 00:23:24.33\00:23:26.47 we could still determine 00:23:26.50\00:23:27.84 what is God's will from the word. 00:23:27.87\00:23:29.84 Now notice what it says in Genesis 8:3-5, 00:23:29.87\00:23:34.04 and the waters receded continually, 00:23:34.08\00:23:36.04 that's from the time that the flood began. 00:23:36.08\00:23:38.55 "And the waters receded continually from the earth. 00:23:38.58\00:23:41.75 At the end of the hundred and fifty days 00:23:41.78\00:23:44.69 the waters decreased. 00:23:44.72\00:23:46.65 Then the ark rested in the seventh month, 00:23:46.69\00:23:49.99 the seventeenth day of the month, 00:23:50.03\00:23:52.63 on the mountains of Ararat. 00:23:52.66\00:23:54.06 Did you notice 00:23:54.10\00:23:55.43 there is something interesting in these two verses, 00:23:55.46\00:23:56.97 these two passages? 00:23:57.00\00:23:58.63 When did the flood come? 00:23:58.67\00:24:00.04 Month number two, 00:24:00.07\00:24:01.57 day seventeen, six hundredth year. 00:24:01.60\00:24:05.54 When did the waters recede, after how many days? 00:24:05.57\00:24:09.58 Hundred and fifty days. 00:24:09.61\00:24:10.95 What date was the date 00:24:10.98\00:24:12.55 that is given for the receding of the waters? 00:24:12.58\00:24:14.68 The seventh month, the seventeenth day, 00:24:14.72\00:24:19.05 the six hundredth year of Noah's life. 00:24:19.09\00:24:20.86 How many months between the second month 00:24:20.89\00:24:22.79 and the seventh month. 00:24:22.82\00:24:24.16 Five and how many days is that? 00:24:24.19\00:24:27.73 One hundred and fifty. 00:24:27.76\00:24:29.10 So you divide one hundred fifty by five 00:24:29.13\00:24:31.23 and lo and behold what do you get, 30. 00:24:31.27\00:24:33.97 Each month as what? 00:24:34.00\00:24:35.37 Thirty days. 00:24:35.40\00:24:36.74 Are you with me? 00:24:36.77\00:24:38.11 Now I'm not here to give you a math lesson. 00:24:38.14\00:24:39.84 But all of these things are important 00:24:39.87\00:24:41.34 to understand this prophecy. 00:24:41.38\00:24:43.91 Now we need to talk about the ending point 00:24:43.95\00:24:46.35 of the dominion of the papacy. 00:24:46.38\00:24:49.18 Something must have happened in the year 1798 00:24:49.22\00:24:53.89 that took away power from the papacy, 00:24:53.92\00:24:57.26 that ended the papacy's period of dominion. 00:24:57.29\00:25:01.56 Let's review the three stages of the fourth beast. 00:25:01.60\00:25:06.13 First of all we have the dragon ruling by itself. 00:25:06.17\00:25:08.37 Do you remember that? 00:25:08.40\00:25:10.47 The dragon beast represents the Roman Empire. 00:25:10.51\00:25:12.87 For most of its career, 00:25:12.91\00:25:14.24 the Roman Empire was one empire, 00:25:14.28\00:25:15.78 it was united. 00:25:15.81\00:25:17.25 Then when you reach the year 476 00:25:17.28\00:25:19.85 the Roman Empire has been divided into what? 00:25:19.88\00:25:23.05 Into ten kingdoms, those are the ten horns. 00:25:23.08\00:25:26.35 And then the little horn rises in 538 00:25:26.39\00:25:29.02 as we noticed the last horn, 00:25:29.06\00:25:30.99 the last rebellious horn, 00:25:31.03\00:25:32.99 the Ostrogoths was uprooted 00:25:33.03\00:25:35.33 and now the papacy has sovereign power 00:25:35.36\00:25:37.90 because it had no opposition from any of these kingdoms. 00:25:37.93\00:25:41.44 And so in 538 the papacy begins its rule 00:25:41.47\00:25:45.07 so we have to go to what date 00:25:45.11\00:25:47.34 to find the ending point of the 1260 years. 00:25:47.38\00:25:51.18 All you have to do is go from 538, 00:25:51.21\00:25:53.35 1260 years forward and that takes you to what year? 00:25:53.38\00:25:58.45 It takes you to the year 1798. 00:25:58.49\00:26:04.46 And you say, Pastor Bohr, 00:26:04.49\00:26:05.83 did anything significant happened in 1798? 00:26:05.86\00:26:11.20 Listen carefully to what I'm gonna say. 00:26:11.23\00:26:13.37 The papacy began its rule 00:26:13.40\00:26:16.24 when the last of the rebellious kingdoms was uprooted, 00:26:16.27\00:26:20.58 that was in 538 the Ostrogoths. 00:26:20.61\00:26:24.11 And we know it was in the month of February of 538. 00:26:24.15\00:26:28.88 So you would expect 1260 years later 00:26:28.92\00:26:33.66 that the papacy's power would be taken away 00:26:33.69\00:26:36.93 in what month? 00:26:36.96\00:26:38.66 In February of 1798 00:26:38.69\00:26:41.33 and so it was in February of 1798. 00:26:41.36\00:26:45.83 General Berthier, 00:26:45.87\00:26:47.37 the general of Napoleon Bonaparte's armies 00:26:47.40\00:26:49.94 entered the city of Rome, 00:26:49.97\00:26:52.24 more specifically in Vatican City, 00:26:52.27\00:26:53.91 he went into the Sistine Chapel 00:26:53.94\00:26:56.11 where the pope was celebrating 00:26:56.14\00:26:57.48 the anniversary of his coronation. 00:26:57.51\00:27:00.05 He went up to where the pope was seated on his throne. 00:27:00.08\00:27:02.92 He removed him from his throne. 00:27:02.95\00:27:05.05 He took off his triple crown. 00:27:05.09\00:27:07.26 He removed his staff. 00:27:07.29\00:27:09.62 He took his papal rings off of his fingers 00:27:09.66\00:27:12.83 and he said to him, 00:27:12.86\00:27:14.20 "Your rule and dominion has come to an end." 00:27:14.23\00:27:18.83 And the pope was taken prisoner 00:27:18.87\00:27:20.90 where he died in France in the year 1799. 00:27:20.94\00:27:26.54 Did something significant happen 00:27:26.57\00:27:28.78 with the papacy in the year 1798, 00:27:28.81\00:27:31.78 in February of 1798? 00:27:31.81\00:27:34.02 Most certainly yes. 00:27:34.05\00:27:36.15 But now we need to look a little more closely 00:27:36.18\00:27:38.99 at the description of the taking away 00:27:39.02\00:27:42.09 of the power of the papacy. 00:27:42.12\00:27:43.69 Let's go to Revelation 13:10, 00:27:43.73\00:27:47.26 Revelation 13:10. 00:27:47.30\00:27:51.40 This is at the end of the time, times 00:27:51.43\00:27:55.10 and dividing of time. 00:27:55.14\00:27:56.47 At the end of the 1260 years of the 42 months. 00:27:56.50\00:27:59.44 Two things happened to the beast 00:27:59.47\00:28:02.08 or the little horn, to the papacy. 00:28:02.11\00:28:04.11 It says there in Revelation 13:10, 00:28:04.15\00:28:06.68 "He who leads into captivity 00:28:06.72\00:28:10.49 shall go into captivity, 00:28:10.52\00:28:13.99 and he who kills with the sword must be what? 00:28:14.02\00:28:18.26 Must be killed with the sword." 00:28:18.29\00:28:19.63 Let me ask you, did the pope lead people into captivity. 00:28:19.66\00:28:22.30 Yes. 00:28:22.33\00:28:23.67 What was the punishment? 00:28:23.70\00:28:25.13 The papacy was going to go into captivity. 00:28:25.17\00:28:28.10 Did the papacy killed with the sword? 00:28:28.14\00:28:30.57 It killed with the sword, 00:28:30.61\00:28:31.94 so would the sword give the papacy its deadly wound? 00:28:31.97\00:28:34.98 Absolutely. 00:28:35.01\00:28:37.05 In other words the correct understanding 00:28:37.08\00:28:38.91 of the taking away of the power of the papacy 00:28:38.95\00:28:41.35 depends on your understanding 00:28:41.38\00:28:43.45 of the sword and of the captivity. 00:28:43.49\00:28:45.75 If you understand 00:28:45.79\00:28:47.12 how the papacy was wounded by the sword, 00:28:47.16\00:28:49.06 and how it went into captivity, 00:28:49.09\00:28:50.79 you're gonna be able to understand this prophecy. 00:28:50.83\00:28:54.60 So let's talk first of all about the sword. 00:28:54.63\00:28:57.77 What is the sword that wounded the papacy in 1798? 00:28:57.80\00:29:02.67 Well, some people say it was the Bible 00:29:02.70\00:29:06.44 because there's a verse in the Bible that says 00:29:06.47\00:29:08.24 that the sword is the word of God. 00:29:08.28\00:29:10.11 Let's read that verse Ephesians 6:17, 00:29:10.15\00:29:14.22 Ephesians 6:17 tells us that 00:29:14.25\00:29:17.99 the sword of the spirit is the word of God. 00:29:18.02\00:29:19.99 It says there, the Apostle Paul is writing, 00:29:20.02\00:29:22.62 "And take the helmet of salvation, 00:29:22.66\00:29:24.99 and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God." 00:29:25.03\00:29:27.93 So some people go to Revelation 13 00:29:27.96\00:29:29.80 and they say, see, the Apostle Paul says 00:29:29.83\00:29:32.33 that the sword of the Spirit is the word of God, 00:29:32.37\00:29:34.27 so what wounded the papacy was the word of God. 00:29:34.30\00:29:39.04 But there's a huge problem 00:29:39.07\00:29:41.24 when you come to interpret it that way. 00:29:41.28\00:29:43.35 Let me ask you, 00:29:43.38\00:29:44.71 did the papacy used the Bible to kill people? 00:29:44.75\00:29:47.95 Did the papacy used the Bible to kill people? 00:29:47.98\00:29:50.45 No, it didn't use the Bible to kill people. 00:29:50.49\00:29:52.79 And so, the prophecy says 00:29:52.82\00:29:54.96 that the beast killed with the sword 00:29:54.99\00:29:57.59 and the same sword that it killed with 00:29:57.63\00:29:59.76 was going to give it the deadly wound. 00:29:59.79\00:30:01.80 The papacy did not kill with the Bible. 00:30:01.83\00:30:04.63 So it cannot represent the Bible. 00:30:04.67\00:30:08.14 Furthermore some have said, well, you know, 00:30:08.17\00:30:11.61 the Protestant Reformation brought out the Bible, 00:30:11.64\00:30:14.01 Sola scriptura. 00:30:14.04\00:30:15.94 And that gave the papacy its deadly wound. 00:30:15.98\00:30:17.78 The problem is Protestantism began in 1517, 00:30:17.81\00:30:21.12 the deadly wound wasn't given until 1798. 00:30:21.15\00:30:24.55 Furthermore we're told that the papacy is taken captive. 00:30:24.59\00:30:29.16 The papacy was not captive in 1517 00:30:29.19\00:30:32.46 with the Protestant Reformation, 00:30:32.49\00:30:34.30 it was taken captive in 1798. 00:30:34.33\00:30:36.90 So there's several reasons 00:30:36.93\00:30:38.30 why this sword that wounded the beast 00:30:38.33\00:30:41.94 that the beast used to kill cannot represent the Bible. 00:30:41.97\00:30:46.57 So you say, well, Pastor Bohr, 00:30:46.61\00:30:48.31 what does the sword represent? 00:30:48.34\00:30:50.88 I need to explain that in the Bible 00:30:50.91\00:30:54.18 symbols are flexible. 00:30:54.22\00:30:56.85 They do not always mean the same thing. 00:30:56.89\00:30:59.15 You have to take into account the context. 00:30:59.19\00:31:02.26 Let me ask you 00:31:02.29\00:31:03.63 what does the lion represent in the Bible? 00:31:03.66\00:31:06.53 Can the lion represent Jesus? 00:31:06.56\00:31:09.16 He is the lion of the tribe of Judah? 00:31:09.20\00:31:10.97 Can the lion represent the devil? 00:31:11.00\00:31:13.30 He goes about as the roaring lion 00:31:13.34\00:31:15.10 seeking whom he may devour. 00:31:15.14\00:31:16.91 Can the lion represent the kingdom of Babylon? 00:31:16.94\00:31:19.97 Yes, we noticed that in Daniel 7. 00:31:20.01\00:31:21.74 Can the lion represent Judah, the son of Jacob? 00:31:21.78\00:31:24.81 Yes, Genesis 49 says he is like a lion. 00:31:24.85\00:31:27.45 So every time you find the lion in the Bible, 00:31:27.48\00:31:30.12 it doesn't mean the same thing. 00:31:30.15\00:31:32.55 It can be flexible. 00:31:32.59\00:31:33.96 Are you with me? 00:31:33.99\00:31:35.32 Let me give you another example. 00:31:35.36\00:31:36.69 What does leaven represent in the Bible? 00:31:36.73\00:31:38.86 Immediately I hear the answer, oh, leaven represents sin. 00:31:38.89\00:31:41.56 Yes, it does represent sin, but not always. 00:31:41.60\00:31:43.97 Jesus gave a Parable of the Leaven. 00:31:44.00\00:31:46.23 He says you put the leaven in the dough 00:31:46.27\00:31:48.60 and when you put the leaven in the dough, 00:31:48.64\00:31:50.47 the dough grows. 00:31:50.51\00:31:51.84 He was teaching that 00:31:51.87\00:31:53.21 when the Holy Spirit is placed in the church, 00:31:53.24\00:31:55.08 the church grows. 00:31:55.11\00:31:56.71 So leaven can represent the Holy Spirit. 00:31:56.75\00:31:59.08 It can also represent sin 00:31:59.11\00:32:00.92 depending on the context in which the symbol appears. 00:32:00.95\00:32:04.62 Are you with me or not? 00:32:04.65\00:32:05.99 Let me give you one further example. 00:32:06.02\00:32:07.76 Genesis 6 speaks about the sons of God 00:32:07.79\00:32:11.16 that had sexual relation with the daughters of men. 00:32:11.19\00:32:14.86 Now, if you read most commentaries today 00:32:14.90\00:32:17.03 they're gonna say that the sons of God were angels. 00:32:17.07\00:32:20.24 They came down from heaven 00:32:20.27\00:32:21.60 and they had sexual relations with human women. 00:32:21.64\00:32:23.94 Those were the daughters with men. 00:32:23.97\00:32:25.71 And they say the result were the giant, 00:32:25.74\00:32:29.04 a hybrid part angel and part human. 00:32:29.08\00:32:32.21 That's what got us believe today. 00:32:32.25\00:32:34.55 They don't take into a proper context. 00:32:34.58\00:32:36.92 You know why they interpret it that way 00:32:36.95\00:32:38.89 because in the Book of Job 00:32:38.92\00:32:40.26 it says the sons of God came to present themselves 00:32:40.29\00:32:42.76 before the Lord and the devil came among them. 00:32:42.79\00:32:45.29 They say the sons of God there are clearly angels 00:32:45.33\00:32:47.80 that come to present themselves before the Lord, 00:32:47.83\00:32:49.86 so if sons of God in Job is angels, 00:32:49.90\00:32:52.50 sons of God in Genesis must also be angels. 00:32:52.53\00:32:56.40 The problem is they don't take it 00:32:56.44\00:32:57.77 in proper context. 00:32:57.81\00:32:59.51 You see in Genesis 4 00:32:59.54\00:33:01.18 you have the genealogy of Cain. 00:33:01.21\00:33:03.21 Three wicked women are mentioned 00:33:03.24\00:33:04.75 in the genealogy of Cain. 00:33:04.78\00:33:06.11 Those are the daughters of men. 00:33:06.15\00:33:07.52 Then in Genesis 5, 00:33:07.55\00:33:08.88 you have the descendants of Seth, 00:33:08.92\00:33:11.12 that's the righteous lineage. 00:33:11.15\00:33:13.46 Those are the sons of God. 00:33:13.49\00:33:15.36 And then in Genesis 6:1 and 2 00:33:15.39\00:33:17.09 you have the sons of God going into the daughters of men. 00:33:17.13\00:33:19.59 In other words, 00:33:19.63\00:33:20.96 the righteous intermingled with the unrighteous 00:33:21.00\00:33:24.87 according to the context. 00:33:24.90\00:33:26.67 So sons of God doesn't always mean angels, 00:33:26.70\00:33:29.57 it means so in Job 00:33:29.60\00:33:30.94 but it doesn't mean so in Genesis. 00:33:30.97\00:33:32.57 And by the way the Bible says that 00:33:32.61\00:33:33.94 we are all sons of God 00:33:33.98\00:33:35.54 and none of us look like angels. 00:33:35.58\00:33:38.68 So sons of God can also represent the righteous today 00:33:38.71\00:33:41.92 according to the Bible, 00:33:41.95\00:33:43.28 so the sword can represent the Bible 00:33:43.32\00:33:46.62 but not in Revelation 13 00:33:46.65\00:33:48.49 because in Revelation 13 that definition does not fit. 00:33:48.52\00:33:51.49 Are you with me or not? 00:33:51.53\00:33:52.93 So the big question is, what does the sword represent? 00:33:52.96\00:33:57.77 There is a second passage in the Bible 00:33:57.80\00:33:59.90 that tells us what the second sword is. 00:33:59.93\00:34:02.67 Romans 13:1-4, 00:34:02.70\00:34:05.54 Romans 13:1-4. 00:34:05.57\00:34:09.51 It says there speaking about the civil power, 00:34:09.54\00:34:12.91 "Let every soul be subject to the governing authorities. 00:34:12.95\00:34:17.12 For there is no authority except from God, 00:34:17.15\00:34:20.82 and the authorities that exist are appointed by God." 00:34:20.86\00:34:23.59 Who are the authorities 00:34:23.63\00:34:24.96 that are being spoken of in this verse? 00:34:24.99\00:34:27.70 The civil power, the government, right. 00:34:27.73\00:34:29.56 Verse 2, "Therefore whoever resists the authority, 00:34:29.60\00:34:32.90 that is the government, resists the ordinance of God, 00:34:32.93\00:34:36.34 and those who resist will bring judgment on themselves. 00:34:36.37\00:34:39.67 For rulers, see, that's defined, 00:34:39.71\00:34:43.55 for rulers are not a terror to good works, but to evil. 00:34:43.58\00:34:47.42 Do you want to be unafraid of the authority?" 00:34:47.45\00:34:49.28 In other words, do you want to not fear the government? 00:34:49.32\00:34:52.29 "Do what is good, 00:34:52.32\00:34:53.66 and you will have praise from the same. 00:34:53.69\00:34:55.92 For he, that is the civil power 00:34:55.96\00:34:57.89 is God's minister to you for good. 00:34:57.93\00:35:00.30 But if you do evil, be afraid, 00:35:00.33\00:35:02.50 for he does not bear, what, ah, there it is, 00:35:02.53\00:35:05.70 for he does not bear the sword in vain, 00:35:05.73\00:35:08.77 for he is God's minister, 00:35:08.80\00:35:10.14 an avenger to execute wrath on him who practices evil." 00:35:10.17\00:35:13.58 Let me ask you, 00:35:13.61\00:35:14.94 does the civil power also have a sword. 00:35:14.98\00:35:17.71 To whom does the sword of the spirit belong? 00:35:17.75\00:35:20.08 To whom does the word of God belong? 00:35:20.12\00:35:21.75 Who is supposed to use it? 00:35:21.78\00:35:23.12 The church. 00:35:23.15\00:35:24.49 And how does the church use it. 00:35:24.52\00:35:25.85 By preaching. 00:35:25.89\00:35:27.22 I'm using the sword right now. 00:35:27.26\00:35:28.76 That's how the church uses the sword, 00:35:28.79\00:35:30.99 is by preaching the word of God. 00:35:31.03\00:35:32.36 Let me ask you. 00:35:32.39\00:35:33.73 Does the word of God belong, 00:35:33.76\00:35:35.56 does that sword belong to the civil power? 00:35:35.60\00:35:37.63 No. 00:35:37.67\00:35:39.00 How does a civil power use the sword? 00:35:39.03\00:35:42.07 Well, if somebody disobeys the civil laws, 00:35:42.10\00:35:45.11 the legitimate civil laws can they be imposed a fine? 00:35:45.14\00:35:49.21 Absolutely. 00:35:49.24\00:35:50.58 Can they be given community service? 00:35:50.61\00:35:52.58 Absolutely. 00:35:52.61\00:35:53.95 Can their goods be confiscated. 00:35:53.98\00:35:56.22 Yes. 00:35:56.25\00:35:57.62 Can they be imprisoned? 00:35:57.65\00:35:59.49 And in some states can they be executed? 00:35:59.52\00:36:01.96 Absolutely. 00:36:01.99\00:36:03.32 That's how the civil power uses the sword. 00:36:03.36\00:36:05.49 When you disobey the civil power, 00:36:05.53\00:36:08.36 the civil power uses the sword to punish you. 00:36:08.40\00:36:11.13 Now are you following me now? 00:36:11.17\00:36:13.07 Now let me ask you this. 00:36:13.10\00:36:15.84 What sword did the papacy used 00:36:15.87\00:36:18.01 during the 1260 years 00:36:18.04\00:36:20.14 to destroy and to kill God's people? 00:36:20.18\00:36:23.01 All you have to do is read history, folks. 00:36:23.04\00:36:26.35 The papacy is not only a church, it is a state. 00:36:26.38\00:36:30.22 And it had dominion over all of the civil powers, 00:36:30.25\00:36:33.62 all of the states in Europe. 00:36:33.66\00:36:35.96 Whenever the pope asked a nation in Europe 00:36:35.99\00:36:39.83 to persecute those who disagreed with the church, 00:36:39.86\00:36:43.00 the civil power went along. 00:36:43.03\00:36:45.03 In other words, 00:36:45.07\00:36:46.40 the sword of the state was used by the papacy to what? 00:36:46.43\00:36:51.01 To persecute. 00:36:51.04\00:36:52.37 Let me ask you. 00:36:52.41\00:36:53.74 Did the civil power of France rise against the papacy 00:36:53.78\00:36:56.71 and say, you're not going to use us anymore. 00:36:56.75\00:36:59.11 Absolutely. 00:36:59.15\00:37:00.48 So in 1798 France, 00:37:00.52\00:37:02.88 which by the way is the first power 00:37:02.92\00:37:04.32 that gave the papacy the sword. 00:37:04.35\00:37:06.65 Clovis, king of the Franks. 00:37:06.69\00:37:08.69 France is called the eldest daughter of the papacy. 00:37:08.72\00:37:11.49 First gave the papacy the sword 00:37:11.53\00:37:13.43 and that same nation is 1798 said, 00:37:13.46\00:37:16.63 you're not going to use the sword anymore, 00:37:16.67\00:37:18.60 took the sword away 00:37:18.63\00:37:19.97 and gave the deadly wound to the papacy. 00:37:20.00\00:37:22.77 Now we need to understand 00:37:22.80\00:37:24.14 something very important, folks. 00:37:24.17\00:37:25.51 And that is that the word papacy 00:37:25.54\00:37:27.84 does not refer to the Roman Catholic Church 00:37:27.88\00:37:30.48 as a church. 00:37:30.51\00:37:33.31 The word papacy defines 00:37:33.35\00:37:35.92 the Roman Catholic Church as a church and a state. 00:37:35.95\00:37:39.89 The ability of the papacy to use the states of the world 00:37:39.92\00:37:44.06 to accomplish her purposes, that's papacy. 00:37:44.09\00:37:46.63 So just the church aspect 00:37:46.66\00:37:48.76 of Roman Catholicism is not the papacy. 00:37:48.80\00:37:52.23 It's when the papacy can use the civil powers of the world 00:37:52.27\00:37:55.50 that you have papacy. 00:37:55.54\00:37:56.87 Are you with me or not? 00:37:56.91\00:37:58.81 Let me ask you. 00:37:58.84\00:38:00.18 In 1798 when the papacy received the deadly wound, 00:38:00.21\00:38:03.28 where the doors of all 00:38:03.31\00:38:04.65 the Roman Catholic Church is closed? 00:38:04.68\00:38:08.08 Did people still attend church? 00:38:08.12\00:38:10.29 Were the babies still baptized? 00:38:10.32\00:38:12.55 Did people still go to the confessional? 00:38:12.59\00:38:15.06 Did people still participate of the host 00:38:15.09\00:38:17.09 in the communion service? 00:38:17.13\00:38:18.46 Sure. 00:38:18.49\00:38:19.83 The churches did not shut down. 00:38:19.86\00:38:21.20 The deadly wound does not mean that the Roman Catholic Church 00:38:21.23\00:38:23.53 as a church was going to ceased to function. 00:38:23.57\00:38:26.23 What it means is that the state portion, 00:38:26.27\00:38:28.80 the ability to use the state was taken away. 00:38:28.84\00:38:32.21 And the state gave the papacy 00:38:32.24\00:38:34.18 the deadly wound with the sword of civil power. 00:38:34.21\00:38:36.64 Raise your hand 00:38:36.68\00:38:38.01 if you're understanding what I'm saying 00:38:38.05\00:38:39.38 what the word papacy means. 00:38:39.41\00:38:40.95 Now let me read you 00:38:40.98\00:38:42.32 some statements from historians. 00:38:42.35\00:38:43.95 Historians understood this. 00:38:43.99\00:38:46.22 Here's one. 00:38:46.25\00:38:47.62 The papacy was extinct. 00:38:47.66\00:38:49.32 This is talking about what happened in 1798. 00:38:49.36\00:38:51.46 The papacy was extinct. 00:38:51.49\00:38:53.06 Was the church extinct? 00:38:53.09\00:38:55.33 No, this historian knows that the church still existed. 00:38:55.36\00:38:58.43 But it's the papacy he says that was extinct. 00:38:58.47\00:39:02.27 Not a vestige of its existence remained, 00:39:02.30\00:39:06.14 and among all the Roman Catholic powers 00:39:06.17\00:39:09.28 not a finger was stirred in its defense. 00:39:09.31\00:39:11.78 If this had happened during the Middle Ages 00:39:11.81\00:39:13.65 and the papacy was attacked, 00:39:13.68\00:39:15.28 all of the nations would have ganged up 00:39:15.32\00:39:17.52 on the power that attacked the papacy. 00:39:17.55\00:39:19.35 But now this historian is saying, 00:39:19.39\00:39:21.52 not any nation lifted a finger to defend the papacy. 00:39:21.56\00:39:26.29 This historian continues writing. 00:39:26.33\00:39:28.26 The Eternal City had no longer prince or pontiff, 00:39:28.30\00:39:31.40 its bishop was a dying captive in foreign lands, 00:39:31.43\00:39:34.40 and the decree was already announced that 00:39:34.44\00:39:36.34 no successor would be allowed in its place. 00:39:36.37\00:39:40.08 Another historian says, 00:39:40.11\00:39:41.81 no wonder that half of Europe 00:39:41.84\00:39:43.95 thought Napoleon's veto would be obeyed. 00:39:43.98\00:39:46.45 Napoleon's veto was that there would be 00:39:46.48\00:39:47.88 no more popes like elected. 00:39:47.92\00:39:50.42 So no wonder that half of Europe thought 00:39:50.45\00:39:52.92 Napoleon's veto would be obeyed, 00:39:52.95\00:39:54.72 and that with the Pope the Papacy was dead. 00:39:54.76\00:39:58.26 Not the church, the papacy was dead. 00:39:58.29\00:40:00.93 Interesting that historian would describe 00:40:00.96\00:40:02.83 the papacy as being what? 00:40:02.86\00:40:04.70 Dead because it received the dead wound. 00:40:04.73\00:40:07.04 Another historian says, 00:40:07.07\00:40:09.20 multitudes imagined that the papacy 00:40:09.24\00:40:12.34 was at the point of what? 00:40:12.37\00:40:14.24 Of death and asked, 00:40:14.28\00:40:16.54 would Pius VI be the last pontiff, 00:40:16.58\00:40:19.05 and if the close of the eighteenth century 00:40:19.08\00:40:21.32 would be signalized by the fall of the papal dynasty. 00:40:21.35\00:40:25.85 One further quotation, actually two. 00:40:25.89\00:40:28.62 Here's another historian. 00:40:28.66\00:40:29.99 The papacy had suffered its deepest humiliation 00:40:30.03\00:40:34.63 and appeared to be what? 00:40:34.66\00:40:37.07 Annihilated. 00:40:37.10\00:40:38.73 The Revolution, that's the French Revolution. 00:40:38.77\00:40:40.70 By the way the deadly wound was the culmination 00:40:40.74\00:40:43.04 of the French Revolution. 00:40:43.07\00:40:44.47 The Revolution also dealt it the wound, 00:40:44.51\00:40:48.51 interesting the wound 00:40:48.54\00:40:50.58 which it seemed did not want to heal 00:40:50.61\00:40:53.52 until far into what? 00:40:53.55\00:40:56.42 The twentieth century. 00:40:56.45\00:40:57.99 One further quotation. 00:40:58.02\00:41:00.39 The object of the French directory was the destruction 00:41:00.42\00:41:04.59 of the pontifical government, 00:41:04.63\00:41:07.10 not the church by the way but the pontifical government, 00:41:07.13\00:41:10.27 as the irreconcilable enemy of the republic. 00:41:10.30\00:41:13.97 The aged pope was, that's Pius VI was summoned 00:41:14.00\00:41:18.17 to surrender the temporal government... 00:41:18.21\00:41:19.97 See, he could no longer be a temporal ruler. 00:41:20.01\00:41:22.31 No longer would he have a state. 00:41:22.34\00:41:25.08 So it says, he was summoned 00:41:25.11\00:41:26.92 to surrender the temporal government, 00:41:26.95\00:41:29.28 on his refusal, he was dragged from the altar, 00:41:29.32\00:41:32.42 his rings were torn from his fingers, and finally, 00:41:32.45\00:41:35.89 after declaring the temporal power abolished, 00:41:35.92\00:41:38.66 the victors carried the pope prisoner into Tuscany, 00:41:38.69\00:41:43.03 where he never returned. 00:41:43.06\00:41:46.57 So do you understand 00:41:46.60\00:41:47.94 what the deadly wound with the sword is? 00:41:47.97\00:41:49.94 But now we need to talk about the captivity. 00:41:49.97\00:41:53.58 What does it mean when it says 00:41:53.61\00:41:55.24 that the papacy led into captivity 00:41:55.28\00:41:57.58 and the papacy would be taken into captivity? 00:41:57.61\00:42:00.92 You know usually 00:42:00.95\00:42:02.28 even in Seventh-day Adventist circles 00:42:02.32\00:42:03.65 you'll find that they'll say, well, you know, 00:42:03.69\00:42:05.39 the captivity was fulfilled 00:42:05.42\00:42:08.52 when Pope Pius VI was taken prisoner 00:42:08.56\00:42:11.09 where he died in France. 00:42:11.13\00:42:12.86 But there's something broader than this 00:42:12.89\00:42:15.10 because the deadly wound is not something 00:42:15.13\00:42:17.23 that is given to an individual pope. 00:42:17.27\00:42:19.37 The deadly wound is given to the beast 00:42:19.40\00:42:23.00 and the beast ruled for 1260 years. 00:42:23.04\00:42:25.37 In another words, the captivity 00:42:25.41\00:42:27.68 and the wound is given to the entire system. 00:42:27.71\00:42:32.85 Taking Pope Pius VI prisoner only culminated 00:42:32.88\00:42:37.42 what had already existed for 1260 years. 00:42:37.45\00:42:40.56 In other words, we are to understand 00:42:40.59\00:42:43.69 that the deadly wound 00:42:43.73\00:42:45.39 and the captivity is not the deadly wound 00:42:45.43\00:42:47.80 and the captivity of a singular pope, 00:42:47.83\00:42:50.27 but of the entire system of the papacy. 00:42:50.30\00:42:54.10 Are you with me or not? 00:42:54.14\00:42:55.80 Now, how do we understand the captivity? 00:42:55.84\00:42:59.77 Listen, it's very simple. 00:42:59.81\00:43:01.61 As long as the papacy is able to use 00:43:01.64\00:43:05.05 the civil powers of the world, the papacy is free. 00:43:05.08\00:43:09.85 When the civil powers of the world 00:43:09.88\00:43:11.52 withdraw their support, the papacy is in captivity. 00:43:11.55\00:43:16.59 Are you following me or not? 00:43:16.62\00:43:19.26 Now you say, how do you know that from the Bible. 00:43:19.29\00:43:21.80 Well, it's very simple. 00:43:21.83\00:43:23.16 The Book of Revelation explains itself. 00:43:23.20\00:43:25.60 The closest parallel to this idea of captivity 00:43:25.63\00:43:28.40 and being released from captivity is found 00:43:28.44\00:43:30.61 in Revelation 20. 00:43:30.64\00:43:32.07 Let me ask you. 00:43:32.11\00:43:33.44 Is the devil today very active in the world 00:43:33.48\00:43:36.34 fulfilling his purposes and his will? 00:43:36.38\00:43:39.11 If you say no, 00:43:39.15\00:43:40.95 you must have been in a coma the last several years. 00:43:40.98\00:43:44.82 Now, let me ask you, 00:43:44.85\00:43:46.19 where does the power of the devil reside? 00:43:46.22\00:43:48.76 It resides in being able to use the rulers of the world 00:43:48.79\00:43:52.36 to accomplish his purposes. 00:43:52.39\00:43:54.40 Let me give you an example. 00:43:54.43\00:43:56.16 The dragon stood next to the woman 00:43:56.20\00:43:58.37 to devour her child as soon as the child was born. 00:43:58.40\00:44:01.00 Did the devil personally stand next to Mary 00:44:01.04\00:44:02.90 when Jesus was going to be born? 00:44:02.94\00:44:04.41 Of course not. 00:44:04.44\00:44:05.77 How did he seek to accomplish his purpose of slaying Christ. 00:44:05.81\00:44:09.98 Through a political ruler. 00:44:10.01\00:44:12.01 Is the same true with the death of Christ? 00:44:12.05\00:44:13.88 Did the devil use Pontius Pilate to doom 00:44:13.92\00:44:16.55 and condemn Christ. 00:44:16.58\00:44:18.55 Did he use pharaoh to try and destroy Moses? 00:44:18.59\00:44:22.39 Yes. 00:44:22.42\00:44:23.76 See the devil accomplishes his purpose 00:44:23.79\00:44:25.89 by using the civil powers of the world. 00:44:25.93\00:44:28.26 So when he uses the civil powers of the world, 00:44:28.30\00:44:30.97 he is free and he is well. 00:44:31.00\00:44:37.34 But what would happen, let me ask you, 00:44:37.37\00:44:38.97 is the time coming 00:44:39.01\00:44:40.34 when the devil is going to get a deadly wound 00:44:40.38\00:44:41.94 and the devil is going to be sent into captivity? 00:44:41.98\00:44:43.95 Yes. 00:44:43.98\00:44:45.61 Where is that described? In Revelation 20. 00:44:45.65\00:44:49.28 What's going to happen 00:44:49.32\00:44:50.65 when Jesus comes with all of the support base of Satan? 00:44:50.69\00:44:54.32 What's going to happen with all of the kings 00:44:54.36\00:44:55.92 that he used to accomplish his purposes? 00:44:55.96\00:44:58.86 They are all going to die at the second coming of Christ. 00:44:58.89\00:45:03.37 So what's going to happen to the devil? 00:45:03.40\00:45:06.53 The Bible says that an angel descends from heaven 00:45:06.57\00:45:09.40 and what does he have? 00:45:09.44\00:45:10.77 He has a chain in his hand 00:45:10.81\00:45:12.64 and he is going to send the devil into what? 00:45:12.67\00:45:15.74 Into prison it says there. 00:45:15.78\00:45:18.01 In other words, he is going to be imprisoned. 00:45:18.05\00:45:20.78 Why is the devil imprisoned? 00:45:20.82\00:45:23.39 Because he doesn't have any rulers 00:45:23.42\00:45:25.05 through whom he can accomplish his purposes. 00:45:25.09\00:45:27.19 So when he is able to use the kings, he is free. 00:45:27.22\00:45:30.63 When he is not able to use the kings, he is captive. 00:45:30.66\00:45:33.63 Are you with me or not? 00:45:33.66\00:45:35.00 But when Jesus returns after the millennium 00:45:35.03\00:45:38.53 which is known as the third coming. 00:45:38.57\00:45:40.60 The Bible says that Satan is going to be what? 00:45:40.64\00:45:43.81 Released from his prison. 00:45:43.84\00:45:45.21 Why? 00:45:45.24\00:45:46.57 Because all of the kings that he used are going to what? 00:45:46.61\00:45:49.84 They're going to resurrect the Bible says. 00:45:49.88\00:45:52.75 Will he have his power back? 00:45:52.78\00:45:54.55 Will his wound be healed? Yes. 00:45:54.58\00:45:57.02 Are you following me? 00:45:57.05\00:45:58.39 So let me ask you. 00:45:58.42\00:45:59.75 What does the captivity of the papacy mean? 00:45:59.79\00:46:01.59 Folks, it simply means that the civil powers of the world 00:46:01.62\00:46:04.86 withdrew their support 00:46:04.89\00:46:06.23 and the papacy could not use them anymore. 00:46:06.26\00:46:09.23 So the papacy, 00:46:09.26\00:46:10.60 if they can't use the civil power, 00:46:10.63\00:46:12.07 if the papacy can't use the kings of the world, 00:46:12.10\00:46:14.37 the papacy is what? 00:46:14.40\00:46:15.90 Wounded. 00:46:15.94\00:46:17.44 It's imprisoned. 00:46:17.47\00:46:18.81 So let me ask you, 00:46:18.84\00:46:20.18 what would the healing of the deadly wound 00:46:20.21\00:46:21.54 and the releasing from the captivity be? 00:46:21.58\00:46:24.55 It must be that the sword of civil power 00:46:24.58\00:46:27.82 will be restored to the papacy 00:46:27.85\00:46:30.19 and the civil powers will once again 00:46:30.22\00:46:32.65 support the papacy. 00:46:32.69\00:46:34.49 Are you following me or not? 00:46:34.52\00:46:35.86 The healing of the deadly wound simply means 00:46:35.89\00:46:39.23 that the civil powers of the world will once again 00:46:39.26\00:46:42.40 give the papacy the support 00:46:42.43\00:46:44.37 that they took away a little over 200 years ago. 00:46:44.40\00:46:48.20 Is this making sense? 00:46:48.24\00:46:49.90 So how important is it to understand the sword 00:46:49.94\00:46:52.37 and to understand the captivity. 00:46:52.41\00:46:53.98 You cannot understand this prophecy, 00:46:54.01\00:46:56.18 you cannot understand the deadly wound of the papacy 00:46:56.21\00:46:59.15 unless you understand what the wound is 00:46:59.18\00:47:02.52 and what the sword is and the captivity. 00:47:02.55\00:47:06.99 Now let me read you some statements 00:47:07.02\00:47:08.72 from a cardinal of the Roman Catholic Church. 00:47:08.76\00:47:11.49 He was a convert from the Anglican Church. 00:47:11.53\00:47:13.93 This is in the mid 1800s. 00:47:13.96\00:47:16.97 Cardinal Edward Henry Manning, 00:47:17.00\00:47:19.93 he wrote a very interesting book, 00:47:19.97\00:47:21.37 The Temporal Power of the Vicar of Jesus Christ. 00:47:21.40\00:47:25.67 And I want to read several statements here 00:47:25.71\00:47:27.64 where he actually is saying what I'm saying, 00:47:27.68\00:47:31.58 but he doesn't realize that he is commenting 00:47:31.61\00:47:33.31 on Revelation 13. 00:47:33.35\00:47:34.92 Obviously if he had really stopped to reflect about this, 00:47:34.95\00:47:38.55 he might not have written what I'm going to read now. 00:47:38.59\00:47:40.59 But anyway he has several statements, 00:47:40.62\00:47:42.02 let me read them. 00:47:42.06\00:47:43.66 Now the abandoned men of Rome... 00:47:43.69\00:47:46.80 And let me explain what that means. 00:47:46.83\00:47:48.66 You remember that Constantine 00:47:48.70\00:47:50.57 moved the seat of the empire to Constantinople 00:47:50.60\00:47:53.34 and he left the throne vacant in the Western Roman Empire. 00:47:53.37\00:47:57.37 You remember also 00:47:57.41\00:47:58.74 that the last Roman emperor was deposed in the year 476. 00:47:58.77\00:48:01.74 After that there was no emperor in the Western Roman Empire. 00:48:01.78\00:48:05.58 So that's what it means the abandonment of Rome. 00:48:05.61\00:48:07.58 There was no longer any civil ruler in Rome, 00:48:07.62\00:48:09.75 so now who takes over the throne of civil rulership? 00:48:09.78\00:48:12.65 The pope does. 00:48:12.69\00:48:14.02 Listen to what it says. 00:48:14.06\00:48:15.39 Now the abandonment of Rome was the what? 00:48:15.42\00:48:18.86 So if he needed to be liberated he must have been 00:48:18.89\00:48:21.06 when there was an emperor he must have been what? 00:48:21.10\00:48:24.23 He must have been captive or bound. 00:48:24.27\00:48:26.00 Are you with me or not? 00:48:26.03\00:48:27.44 So now the abandonment of Rome was the liberation 00:48:27.47\00:48:30.74 of the pontiffs, that is of the popes. 00:48:30.77\00:48:32.87 Whatsoever claims to be obedience 00:48:32.91\00:48:34.58 the emperors may have made, 00:48:34.61\00:48:36.01 and whatsoever compliance the Pontiff may have yielded, 00:48:36.04\00:48:39.21 the whole previous relation, anomalous, 00:48:39.25\00:48:41.52 and annulled again and again 00:48:41.55\00:48:42.88 by the vices and outrages of the emperors, 00:48:42.92\00:48:45.62 was finally dissolved by a higher power. 00:48:45.65\00:48:48.39 Listen carefully now. 00:48:48.42\00:48:49.76 The providence of God that's, I would question that. 00:48:49.79\00:48:52.49 The providence of God permitted a succession of irruptions. 00:48:52.53\00:48:55.83 Here he speaks about the barbarian invasions. 00:48:55.86\00:48:58.40 Gothic, Lombard, and Hungarian to do what? 00:48:58.43\00:49:02.57 To desolate Italy, 00:49:02.60\00:49:04.67 and to efface from it every remnant of the empire. 00:49:04.71\00:49:09.88 And when this happen what occurred? 00:49:09.91\00:49:12.21 The pontiffs found themselves what? 00:49:12.25\00:49:14.25 Alone. 00:49:14.28\00:49:15.72 The soul that means the only fountains of order, 00:49:15.75\00:49:19.49 peace, law and safety. 00:49:19.52\00:49:21.96 And from the hour of this providential... 00:49:21.99\00:49:24.33 Here's the word again, this providential what? 00:49:24.36\00:49:26.73 Liberation when the emperor is gone from the time 00:49:26.76\00:49:31.90 or from the hour of this providential liberation, 00:49:31.93\00:49:34.60 when, by a divine intervention... 00:49:34.64\00:49:36.67 Listen to this now, what? 00:49:36.71\00:49:38.87 Oh, so he was chained before 00:49:38.91\00:49:40.51 when he couldn't use the civil ruler, 00:49:40.54\00:49:41.88 when he couldn't rule in civil matters. 00:49:41.91\00:49:43.51 It says the chains fell off 00:49:43.55\00:49:45.61 from the hands of the successor of Peter, 00:49:45.65\00:49:48.08 as once before his own, 00:49:48.12\00:49:50.25 no sovereign has ever reigned in Rome 00:49:50.29\00:49:53.72 except the Vicar of Jesus Christ. 00:49:53.76\00:49:56.69 Are you catching the picture? 00:49:56.73\00:49:58.39 Notice this next quotation from the same book. 00:49:58.43\00:50:01.73 "The papacy waited until such a time 00:50:01.76\00:50:04.33 as God should break its" what? 00:50:04.37\00:50:07.00 There's captivity again, "break its bonds asunder, 00:50:07.04\00:50:10.97 and should..." 00:50:11.01\00:50:12.34 What's the next word, "liberate it..." 00:50:12.37\00:50:14.34 What it need to be liberated from? 00:50:14.38\00:50:17.01 "Liberate it from subjection to civil powers." 00:50:17.05\00:50:19.88 Is the papacy today subject to civil powers? 00:50:19.91\00:50:23.32 Is it able to use the civil powers 00:50:23.35\00:50:24.75 like it did in the past? 00:50:24.79\00:50:26.12 Not yet, but we're getting there. 00:50:26.15\00:50:28.92 So it says, "The papacy waited until such a time 00:50:28.96\00:50:31.09 as God should break its bonds asunder 00:50:31.13\00:50:32.86 and should liberate it 00:50:32.89\00:50:34.23 from subjection to civil powers, 00:50:34.26\00:50:35.73 and" what? 00:50:35.76\00:50:37.10 "And enthrone it 00:50:37.13\00:50:38.47 in the possession of a temporal sovereignty of its own." 00:50:38.50\00:50:42.24 Here's another one. 00:50:42.27\00:50:43.81 "I say then, that it was God's own act which liberated..." 00:50:43.84\00:50:48.58 Notice against the word. 00:50:48.61\00:50:50.45 "Liberated His Vicar upon earth 00:50:50.48\00:50:53.52 from subjection to temporal power." 00:50:53.55\00:50:56.62 So when the papacy is not subjected to temporal power, 00:50:56.65\00:51:00.06 the papacy is what? 00:51:00.09\00:51:02.26 Free, 00:51:02.29\00:51:03.63 but when it is subject to the temporal power, 00:51:03.66\00:51:06.09 like if there's a Caesar 00:51:06.13\00:51:08.53 or if there's an emperor on the throne, 00:51:08.56\00:51:11.40 then the papacy is what? 00:51:11.43\00:51:13.94 It is captive or restrained. 00:51:13.97\00:51:15.70 So it says, "I say then, that it is God's own act 00:51:15.74\00:51:18.07 which liberated His Vicar upon earth 00:51:18.11\00:51:20.48 from subjection to temporal power.' 00:51:20.51\00:51:22.11 ' And now notice the time period 00:51:22.14\00:51:23.48 that it says this happened. 00:51:23.51\00:51:25.05 "And that for 1200 years 00:51:25.08\00:51:27.48 the Bishops of Rome have reigned 00:51:27.52\00:51:29.42 as temporal princes. 00:51:29.45\00:51:30.92 Does that sound pretty close to 1260? 00:51:30.95\00:51:34.19 Here's a Roman Catholic cardinal that is admitting 00:51:34.22\00:51:36.69 that it was at least 1200 years that this happened. 00:51:36.73\00:51:39.59 Notice the next statement. 00:51:39.63\00:51:41.40 "The conversion of the empire to Christianity, 00:51:41.43\00:51:44.27 and then its removal..." 00:51:44.30\00:51:45.90 That when Constantine took the seat of the empire to east. 00:51:45.93\00:51:49.34 "Its banishment into the far East, freed..." 00:51:49.37\00:51:53.48 So if he'd freed what happened before? 00:51:53.51\00:51:57.08 He was bound or he was captive. 00:51:57.11\00:51:58.88 "Freed the Vicar of Jesus Christ from" what? 00:51:58.91\00:52:02.48 There it is "from temporal subjection, and then, 00:52:02.52\00:52:05.49 by the action of the same Providence, 00:52:05.52\00:52:07.72 he was clothed with the prerogatives of a true 00:52:07.76\00:52:10.73 and proper local sovereignty over that sate and territory 00:52:10.76\00:52:15.23 and people so committed to his charge. 00:52:15.26\00:52:17.77 From that hour, 00:52:17.80\00:52:19.17 which I might say was fifteen hundred years ago, 00:52:19.20\00:52:21.77 or to speak within limit, 00:52:21.80\00:52:24.07 I will say was twelve hundred..." 00:52:24.11\00:52:26.68 There it is again... 00:52:26.71\00:52:28.04 "The Supreme Pontiff has been a true and proper sovereign 00:52:28.08\00:52:33.01 exercising the prerogatives or royalty 00:52:33.05\00:52:36.18 committed to him by the will of God 00:52:36.22\00:52:38.19 over the people to whom he is father 00:52:38.22\00:52:41.02 in all things both what? 00:52:41.06\00:52:43.26 Spiritual and temporal." 00:52:43.29\00:52:45.83 Church and state. 00:52:45.86\00:52:49.86 Aren't these really telling statements? 00:52:49.90\00:52:52.57 He doesn't realize that he is describing 00:52:52.60\00:52:56.27 the freeing of the papacy 00:52:56.30\00:52:58.21 when there was no longer an emperor, 00:52:58.24\00:53:00.34 and the binding of the papacy in 1798 00:53:00.38\00:53:04.21 when the civil power said 00:53:04.25\00:53:05.58 you can't use us anymore, amazing. 00:53:05.61\00:53:10.05 Now there's something 00:53:10.09\00:53:11.42 that is not mentioned in Daniel 7 00:53:11.45\00:53:14.56 that is mentioned in Revelation 13, 00:53:14.59\00:53:17.36 and that is in Daniel 7 00:53:17.39\00:53:20.43 this fourth beast has only three periods of dominion, 00:53:20.46\00:53:25.40 three explicit periods of dominions. 00:53:25.43\00:53:28.07 You have the fourth beast by itself, 00:53:28.10\00:53:30.21 the Roman Empire, 00:53:30.24\00:53:31.74 then you have the ten horns that sprout from his head, 00:53:31.77\00:53:34.44 that's the divided Roman Empire. 00:53:34.48\00:53:36.34 Then you have papal Rome ruling for 1260 years, 00:53:36.38\00:53:40.35 but the prophecy seems to end there in Daniel 7. 00:53:40.38\00:53:44.45 It does hint 00:53:44.49\00:53:46.12 that the little horn will be around when Jesus comes 00:53:46.15\00:53:48.16 because it says there that it will be destroyed 00:53:48.19\00:53:50.36 when Jesus comes, so it's understood that 00:53:50.39\00:53:53.03 the little horn is going to be around 00:53:53.06\00:53:55.06 the time of the second coming 00:53:55.10\00:53:56.43 but of another stage of the little horn 00:53:56.46\00:53:58.23 is not explicit in Daniel 7 00:53:58.27\00:54:00.74 but it is explicit in Revelation 13. 00:54:00.77\00:54:03.74 Let me ask you. 00:54:03.77\00:54:05.11 Do you think the time is coming 00:54:05.14\00:54:06.47 when the papacy is going to recover its freedom 00:54:06.51\00:54:08.81 and is going to be healed from its deadly wound? 00:54:08.84\00:54:12.88 Have you been observing 00:54:12.91\00:54:14.25 what is happening in the world today? 00:54:14.28\00:54:16.22 Have you been observing 00:54:16.25\00:54:17.59 what is happening in the United States today 00:54:17.62\00:54:20.29 in its links and its connections 00:54:20.32\00:54:22.02 with the papacy? 00:54:22.06\00:54:23.86 Let me just read from the Book of Revelation 00:54:23.89\00:54:26.29 what we are told about the last stage of this horn. 00:54:26.33\00:54:32.33 It's the fourth stage of this fourth beast. 00:54:32.37\00:54:34.77 First the united Roman Empire, 00:54:34.80\00:54:36.84 after the united Roman Empire, 00:54:36.87\00:54:38.34 then you have the divided Roman Empire, 00:54:38.37\00:54:40.48 then you have the papacy ruling 1260 years, 00:54:40.51\00:54:43.31 a period during which it is wounded 00:54:43.35\00:54:46.48 and in captivity 00:54:46.51\00:54:48.18 and then its deadly wound is what? 00:54:48.22\00:54:50.12 Is healed and it will do in the future 00:54:50.15\00:54:52.39 what it did in the past. 00:54:52.42\00:54:53.76 You say is that in the Bible? 00:54:53.79\00:54:55.12 Yes. 00:54:55.16\00:54:56.49 Go with me to Revelation 13:3 00:54:56.52\00:54:58.26 speaking about the beast it says, 00:54:58.29\00:55:00.36 "And I saw one of his heads as if it had been what? 00:55:00.40\00:55:06.03 Mortally wounded..." 00:55:06.07\00:55:09.50 Now comes the rest of the story. 00:55:09.54\00:55:11.91 "And his deadly wound was healed." 00:55:11.94\00:55:16.68 Is the beast going to recover his power? 00:55:16.71\00:55:19.25 What would the healing of the wound be? 00:55:19.28\00:55:22.18 Well, must be that it can use the civil power again. 00:55:22.22\00:55:26.42 What does it mean that 00:55:26.45\00:55:28.89 it's going to be free from captivity? 00:55:28.92\00:55:31.43 Yeah, 'cause it's going to be able to use 00:55:31.46\00:55:33.29 the civil powers once again. 00:55:33.33\00:55:35.00 See, it's very simple. 00:55:35.03\00:55:36.43 So it says, "And his deadly wound was healed." 00:55:36.46\00:55:39.83 And all of Fresno, 00:55:39.87\00:55:42.74 Fresno too. 00:55:42.77\00:55:44.57 It says, "And all the world what? 00:55:44.61\00:55:47.54 Marveled and followed the beast." 00:55:47.58\00:55:49.68 Is the whole world gonna follow the beast accord to this? 00:55:49.71\00:55:52.75 Yes. 00:55:52.78\00:55:54.62 How many Protestants believe this? 00:55:54.65\00:55:58.45 Protestants have forsaken 00:55:58.49\00:56:00.62 this method of interpreting Bible prophecy. 00:56:00.66\00:56:03.39 Therefore the great leaders of Protestantism 00:56:03.43\00:56:05.43 such as Joel Osteen, Rick Warren, 00:56:05.46\00:56:08.50 Kenneth Copeland etcetera 00:56:08.53\00:56:11.63 have made trips to Rome 00:56:11.67\00:56:13.00 and have spoken gloriously about 00:56:13.03\00:56:14.94 the Roman Catholic system. 00:56:14.97\00:56:16.74 If they understood this prophecy, 00:56:16.77\00:56:18.74 if they understood that the papacy 00:56:18.77\00:56:20.34 is the little horn or the beast, 00:56:20.38\00:56:21.71 would they be doing that?
