It's a promise that's

that Jesus Christ
is going to return.

But there's an
aspect about His return

that's very
important that we understand.

listen to a couple texts.

It says here:

So the scripture says
that Jesus is coming back.

But He says when He comes back

He is bringing
His reward with Him.
00:14:20.46\00:14:24.08
Now if Christ is going to bring
His reward with Him, folks,
00:14:24.38\00:14:29.72
then it's very simple
00:14:30.02\00:14:32.22
that judgment has
to have taken place.
00:14:32.42\00:14:35.81
Every case has to
have been decided...
00:14:36.11\00:14:38.94
because it wouldn't
work for Christ to come back,

take some people to heaven,

and then find out
they don't belong there.

That won't work.

So He's got to have
judgment taken place

before He comes back.

Let's look at another text:

So it's very, very clear
that when Jesus comes back

He is bringing
His reward with Him

to give everyone
according as his works.

And this judgment that is
going on up in heaven now...
00:15:22.34\00:15:28.29
we're simply going to
refer to that judgment as an
00:15:28.59\00:15:32.11
Investigative Judgment.

That simply means
going through the cases
00:15:34.88\00:15:37.64
and they're taking a
look at each individual

and deciding whether
that person will be there,
00:15:40.79\00:15:44.47
whether they'll be part of those
that are saved when Jesus comes,
00:15:44.67\00:15:49.63
or whether they will not.
00:15:49.83\00:15:51.51
That's what's taking place
00:15:51.81\00:15:53.69
up in heaven at
the present time.

It tells us that judgment
is going on now in Revelation.

Revelation the
14th chapter verse 6:
00:16:01.56\00:16:04.41
It does not say the hour
of His judgment IS coming.
00:16:26.26\00:16:29.92
It says the hour of
His judgment HAS come.
00:16:30.22\00:16:33.70
So it tells us that judgment
is going on up in heaven

right now. And that's what
we're going to take a look at

tonight. We want to
take a look at this judgment.

Where it's taking
place. What's involved in it
00:16:45.71\00:16:48.86
as the scripture presents
it. In the book of Daniel
00:16:49.06\00:16:51.90
it presents it in a special way.
00:16:52.10\00:16:53.88
Here in Peter it
gives us an insight
00:16:54.18\00:16:57.97
into this judgment as
to who is being judged.
00:16:58.17\00:17:02.23
And it says in I Peter 4:17:
00:17:02.53\00:17:05.42
So it tells us clearly
that this judgment that we're
00:17:12.53\00:17:15.47
looking at tonight
has to do with the saved
00:17:15.57\00:17:19.55
because it says it
begins "with the house of God. "
00:17:19.75\00:17:24.25
That's referring to those
who are followers of Christ.
00:17:24.35\00:17:27.88
So Peter is saying that judgment
involves those that have
00:17:34.97\00:17:39.74
accepted Christ
and are following Him.
00:17:39.84\00:17:42.46
So that's what we're
looking at in this judgment.

The children of
Israel... for 400 years
00:17:45.51\00:17:51.04
they worshiped
around the sanctuary.
00:17:51.24\00:17:55.01
The sanctuary set out in
the middle of their encampment
00:17:55.21\00:17:59.72
and this is where people
came, brought their sacrifices.
00:17:59.92\00:18:03.96
This is where they
came and worshiped.
00:18:04.16\00:18:06.75
They worshiped the Lord.
00:18:06.95\00:18:08.44
The sanctuary,
or the tabernacle,
00:18:08.64\00:18:11.73
was a tent.
00:18:11.93\00:18:14.09
It was surrounded by a curtain

which made what
they called the court.

And in the court
were three things.

There was the altar of
sacrifice, there was the laver,

and there was the tabernacle.

Inside the tabernacle
there were two compartments.
00:18:30.21\00:18:34.69
One compartment
called the holy place
00:18:34.89\00:18:38.01
and another compartment
called the most holy place.
00:18:38.21\00:18:41.62
In the holy place, this is
where the priest ministered.
00:18:41.82\00:18:46.48
They went in and out
of there many, many times
00:18:46.51\00:18:49.63
every day. And
in that holy place
00:18:49.83\00:18:52.33
was basically three
pieces of furniture.
00:18:52.53\00:18:55.39
There was the seven
golden candlesticks.
00:18:55.60\00:18:59.21
There was the
table of shewbread.
00:18:59.41\00:19:01.38
And right before the curtain
was the altar of incense.
00:19:01.58\00:19:06.28
This is where they
sprinkled the blood
00:19:06.48\00:19:09.26
from the offering of the lamb
that the person had brought.

But once a year - once a year -
00:19:13.09\00:19:17.32
the high priest -
only the high priest -

is going to part that curtain

and go into the most holy place.

That was done on what was
called the Day of Atonement...

or better known also
as the Day of Judgment.

So that's what
it's talking about:

Day of Atonement or
the Day of Judgment...

the cleansing of the sanctuary.

That becomes important
as we look at this prophecy

because Daniel... is
very, very concerned.

Daniel has been in Babylon
00:19:59.37\00:20:02.35
for about 70 years now.

He understands clearly, folks,

the prophecies of
the prophet Jeremiah.
00:20:10.17\00:20:12.87
Because Jeremiah had said
that the children of Israel
00:20:13.07\00:20:17.09
would be in
captivity for 70 years
00:20:17.29\00:20:20.74
and he know that 70
years is coming to an end.
00:20:20.94\00:20:25.29
And he wants to know when
are they going to be delivered.
00:20:25.49\00:20:29.03
When are they going to
be taken out of Babylon?
00:20:29.23\00:20:32.11
And so Daniel has
been praying about this,
00:20:32.31\00:20:35.44
seeking the Lord. And as he
has been praying about this,
00:20:35.64\00:20:39.60
the angel Gabriel
00:20:39.80\00:20:41.46
here in Daniel the
8th chapter verse 14
00:20:42.51\00:20:45.43
makes a statement to him.
00:20:45.63\00:20:47.71
And he says:

Daniel understood
exactly that when it said
00:20:57.44\00:21:01.35
the sanctuary shall be cleansed
00:21:01.55\00:21:03.99
he understood that to
mean the Day of Atonement
00:21:04.20\00:21:07.34
or the Day of Judgment.
00:21:07.54\00:21:09.37
He understood that's
what he was talking about.
00:21:09.47\00:21:11.54
So the angel said: "unto
two thousand three hundred days
00:21:11.74\00:21:15.48
then the sanctuary" -
or the Day of Judgment -
00:21:15.68\00:21:18.42
"is going to take place. "
00:21:18.62\00:21:20.44
Now the angel also said to him
here concerning this vision...

we're still in
the 8th chapter...
00:21:26.41\00:21:27.95
So he told
Daniel... He said: "Daniel,
00:21:43.55\00:21:46.03
this vision refers to
many, many days in the future. "

This really bothered him.
00:21:50.36\00:21:52.98
He didn't understand
what it was talking about.
00:21:53.18\00:21:56.95
And it bothered him so
much the 8th chapter of Daniel
00:21:57.15\00:22:01.13
ends with this verse:
00:22:01.33\00:22:03.50
The angel had told him unto
two thousand three hundred days
00:22:18.88\00:22:23.38
then the sanctuary's
going to be cleansed.
00:22:23.41\00:22:25.96
Daniel knows that he is
living right at the time
00:22:26.16\00:22:30.31
that Jeremiah had talked about.
00:22:30.51\00:22:32.16
And now the angel has said
00:22:32.36\00:22:33.58
this has to do with
something in the future.
00:22:33.78\00:22:36.47
Many days in the future.
00:22:36.67\00:22:37.75
And Daniel is
having a terrible time
00:22:37.95\00:22:40.00
putting all of this together.

So as you move into
the 9th chapter of Daniel

Daniel is praying.

He's pleading with God
to give him understanding

concerning this vision to help
him know what it's all about.

And God in His
love and in His kindness

sends the angel Gabriel.

Listen:

So here Daniel is praying.

asking the Lord when
this is going to take place.

And God has sent
the angel Gabriel

to help Daniel understand
what this vision is about.

He said: "Daniel, I've
come here to help you understand

what this vision is about. "

Now, Daniel is
in Babylon, folks.

The Jewish
people are in Babylon.
00:24:02.63\00:24:05.86
They're in captivity.
00:24:06.07\00:24:08.20
This is what is
concerning Daniel.
00:24:08.40\00:24:11.38
So the angel
Gabriel says this to Daniel:
00:24:11.58\00:24:14.51
He said: "Daniel... giving
70 weeks to the Jewish people.
00:24:38.48\00:24:43.55
In that 70 weeks
00:24:43.75\00:24:46.24
God has said: "I'm going to
give them a time to come to Me,
00:24:47.23\00:24:52.88
come back to Me,
00:24:52.98\00:24:54.18
to follow Me, to obey Me.
00:24:54.38\00:24:56.43
to do My will. Also,
I'm giving this prophecy
00:24:56.63\00:25:02.03
to anoint the Most Holy. "
00:25:02.23\00:25:04.37
And He also said to
"seal up the prophecy. "
00:25:04.57\00:25:07.98
He said, in other words:
"There's going to be certain
00:25:08.18\00:25:10.42
things about this prophecy
that will absolutely seal it
00:25:10.62\00:25:13.98
and make it immoveable. "
00:25:14.18\00:25:16.16
That's what He's saying.

So he takes
this and says to him:

Well now, that's fine

to tell you and I "70 weeks

are determined on your people, "

but that doesn't mean much if
we don't know a starting point.
