came to my mother.

had been in a séance

spoken with my sister.

And that she wanted very much
to talk to my mom and to my dad.

It was a very big temptation

because they didn't really

to a text that was in the

God's Word is very emphatic.

It doesn't make any exception.

It just states it plainly,

completely, and it makes it
absolutely clear what God says.

And I want you to
look at it. It says this:

I mean, God is
very, very clear here.

He says the dead
don't know anything.

This emphatic statement by God

smacks absolutely against

the whole
concept of Spiritualism.

I mean, it goes
directly against that.

And you need to be very,
very clear in your understanding

says that they can communicate

Should they be seeking the
dead on behalf of the living? "

That's the law of the testimony:
"THE DEAD KNOW NOTHING. "

The scripture says
don't go to these people.

Don't seek them.

But we live in an
age... we live in a day

become very, very prevalent.

I mean, more than
many people have any idea

how prevalent it is.

try to take a look at it.

people who claim to be able

to tell the
fortune... to tell the future...

If these people that can
tell you what's going to happen,

if they can help you in
any way, He said, "stand up. "

But they can't.

There's nothing
they can do to help you.

They can't tell what's
going to happen in the future.

They are not
capable of that, folks.

And therefore we should
not be led astray by them.

Because they're living

land of Egypt after 430 years.

have been indoctrinated

Egyptians believed.

counsel God gives them.

There's a reason for this.

the children of Israel -

that happened in Egypt.

people have done this;

You see, the
Egyptians worshiped the dead.

That's who they
worshiped was the dead.

This what was called
the Book of the Dead.

can follow it there,

it... This is a picture

of this particular Pharaoh.

talks about the Pharaoh.

You can see the man
has him by the hand,

Those scales are
weighing his life...

whether he has done good or
how he has lived and so forth.

And if he has measured up,

if he's lived up to what
is required of him there,

then he passes through
that veil that you can see there

and he becomes a god.

That's what happens.

So they worshiped them.

down to such places as

of the Kings and the Queens

and you can see these huge
burial places they had for them,

this is where
they worshiped them.

And the children of
Israel not only did that

they were required to
build some of these places.

And the Egyptian
people worshiped the dead.

That's who they believed
in. They worshiped the dead.

God understood that they
had had 430 years of this.

And therefore He takes
definite steps to make sure

they do not worship the dead.

And He offers things in
scripture that many people

Boy, that's pretty severe.

God put that requirement there

Egyptians worshiped the dead

and God didn't want
the Israelites in any way

worshiping the dead.

And so He made it
clear that when somebody died

that was the end of that person:

"THE DEAD KNOW NOTHING. "

And He said it was over there

and that they couldn't
go there and worship them

or do anything like that.

This was a
requirement that God made.

But Israel had a
hard time with this.

You remember the time
when they got out there

in the desert and
Balaam and Balak...

You remember Balak
was the king of Moab;

was very concerned
about them and all?

And he hired Balaam to come and
bless... curse them, actually.

And when he tried to curse them
00:22:57.39\00:22:59.51
well he blessed them.

And that didn't work very well.

But Balaam told them there
was a way to take care of that.

Listen to what he had them do:

This was one of their
gods, the Moabites' gods.

I mean, he understood
that if he couldn't curse them

maybe he could get them to
go against the Word of God.

Some 20,000 of them died

because they went
contrary to the Word of God

worshiping the dead or
sacrificing to the dead.

So the scripture makes
it clear that you and I

are not to do that.
If you want to just start

have worshiped the dead.

when we held a meeting

over in Zambia.

preaching one night.

And as I was preaching,
all of a sudden I could hear

these blood-curdling
screams going on behind me.

I didn't have any idea

what in the world
was going on back there.

But they have a room back there,

a building where
they had prayer... met.

And there was a woman

coming to the meeting

who was a witchdoctor.

And she had come to the meeting

night after night

and wanted to be delivered.

And they had her back
there praying with her

you never heard such sounds

going on in your life

there as the devil

I mean fought them hand in hand

refusing to let her go.

prayer she was released.

And as I walked out that night

there smoldering in the fire

was her charms that
she had used in witchcraft.

But Africa-born pagan religions

are full of worship of the dead.

that they believed in.

and brought it into religion
