If it is true 00:00:20.07\00:00:22.51 that the only thing worse than 00:00:22.71\00:00:24.02 nostalgia is amnesia, 00:00:24.22\00:00:26.63 then it also must be true 00:00:26.83\00:00:28.53 in a concomitant sense 00:00:28.63\00:00:30.44 that one of the greatest gifts 00:00:30.64\00:00:32.20 that God has been pleased to give to the human family 00:00:32.40\00:00:35.21 OTHER than salvation and Jesus 00:00:35.31\00:00:37.28 is the gift of prophecy. 00:00:37.48\00:00:39.49 In this word where so much is hazy and murky 00:00:39.69\00:00:44.20 and we don't know what the next day holds 00:00:44.30\00:00:47.16 it is comforting to know that thought we don't know 00:00:47.36\00:00:49.92 what tomorrow holds, we certainly do know 00:00:50.12\00:00:52.49 who holds tomorrow... 00:00:52.69\00:00:54.25 for the person who holds tomorrow is the same person 00:00:54.45\00:00:58.04 who holds... or held... yesterday 00:00:58.24\00:01:01.52 and all of our yesterdays 00:01:01.72\00:01:03.65 and yesterday and yesterday and yesterday. 00:01:03.85\00:01:07.40 The gift of prophecy is a fantastic study, 00:01:07.60\00:01:10.94 an interesting one. 00:01:11.04\00:01:12.41 And Elder Cox has been given a gift by God 00:01:12.61\00:01:16.32 to make that which is complex plain and simple. 00:01:16.52\00:01:21.14 And I think he's going to have to call upon that gift 00:01:21.34\00:01:23.53 this night as we look at what is an intriguing text of scripture, 00:01:23.63\00:01:28.38 and intriguing portion of the prophetic map 00:01:28.58\00:01:31.49 as we look at the two witnesses. 00:01:31.69\00:01:33.67 Under the concept, and I love this, 00:01:33.87\00:01:35.76 Was, Is Not, and Yet Is. 00:01:35.96\00:01:39.74 We have traveled through the Word of God 00:01:39.94\00:01:43.07 for five sessions. This is volume six. 00:01:43.27\00:01:46.68 We are just half way through, 00:01:46.79\00:01:48.73 and time has gone by so very, very fast. 00:01:48.93\00:01:50.52 And yet there is much ground to be covered, much to learn. 00:01:50.72\00:01:53.90 And our friend, our evangelist Kenneth Cox, will lead us 00:01:54.10\00:01:57.15 in that study this night. 00:01:57.25\00:01:58.33 And I know that when we shall have come to the end 00:01:58.43\00:02:01.21 of our study this night, this... two witnesses will be plain, 00:02:01.31\00:02:05.10 very, very plain, to us all. 00:02:05.21\00:02:07.54 My name is C.A. Murray, 00:02:07.64\00:02:08.66 and it is my privilege and pleasure to welcome you 00:02:08.76\00:02:11.27 to this year-long trek through the Word of God that 00:02:11.47\00:02:15.62 we are calling Give Me The Bible. 00:02:15.82\00:02:17.51 We're getting into deep water now, so we're asking you 00:02:17.71\00:02:19.80 to roll up your spiritual pant legs because we're in 00:02:19.90\00:02:22.64 deep water as we look at Was, Is Not, Yet Is: 00:02:22.74\00:02:27.20 the two witnesses. 00:02:27.40\00:02:28.48 But before we hear from Elder Cox 00:02:28.69\00:02:30.33 our good friend Larry Blackwell is here to give us 00:02:30.53\00:02:32.59 music ministry. He's going to be singing 00:02:32.69\00:02:34.86 The Hallelujah Chorus. 00:02:35.06\00:02:36.72 Hallelujah! Home at last! 00:02:50.34\00:02:54.01 The redeemed are home at last. 00:02:54.22\00:02:58.21 All heaven is filled with happiness 00:02:58.42\00:03:02.45 for the age of sin is past. 00:03:02.65\00:03:07.70 I see the gates as they open wide, 00:03:07.90\00:03:12.08 I see the saints as they walk inside 00:03:12.28\00:03:15.82 singing: Hallelujah! Home at last! 00:03:16.02\00:03:20.15 The redeemed are home at last. 00:03:20.18\00:03:24.84 Hallelujah! All day long 00:03:25.04\00:03:28.82 I can hear the angels sing. 00:03:29.02\00:03:33.22 Then suddenly I hear Moses' song 00:03:33.42\00:03:37.66 as the angels fold their wings. 00:03:37.86\00:03:42.72 I see the Lamb as He beckons me; 00:03:42.92\00:03:46.94 I hear Him say: "Come and dine with Me. " 00:03:47.14\00:03:50.72 Singing: Hallelujah! Home at last! 00:03:50.92\00:03:54.98 The redeemed are home at last. 00:03:55.18\00:03:59.35 See the lame come a'runnin; 00:03:59.55\00:04:03.59 hear the dumb sing the song of praise. 00:04:03.79\00:04:08.19 All the blind are outside seeing 00:04:08.39\00:04:12.45 while the old folk stand in place 00:04:12.65\00:04:16.64 around the great white throne near the King of Kings, 00:04:16.84\00:04:22.04 they clap their hands till the heavens ring. 00:04:22.25\00:04:25.59 Singing: Hallelujah! Home at last! 00:04:25.79\00:04:29.90 The redeemed are home at last. 00:04:30.10\00:04:34.33 See the lame come a'runnin; 00:04:34.53\00:04:38.68 hear the dumb sing the song of praise. 00:04:38.88\00:04:43.04 All the blind are outside seeing 00:04:43.24\00:04:47.32 while the old folk stand in place 00:04:47.52\00:04:51.54 around the great white throne near the King of Kings, 00:04:51.74\00:04:57.01 they clap their hands till the heavens ring. 00:04:57.22\00:05:00.48 Singing: Hallelujah! So we hope that it's helpful to you. 00:06:04.80\00:06:08.26 Hope that you're enjoying it and that you're getting an idea 00:06:08.46\00:06:11.78 what the scripture has to say about it. 00:06:11.98\00:06:14.08 This presentation or this series 00:06:14.28\00:06:16.91 is again on Bible prophecy. 00:06:16.94\00:06:19.36 We spent last presentation, or the last series, 00:06:19.56\00:06:23.64 on Five Have Fallen. 00:06:23.84\00:06:25.91 We talked about prophecy. We're continuing that tonight 00:06:26.11\00:06:30.03 so that you'll be able to see what's happening. 00:06:30.23\00:06:32.85 What says the Bible, the blessed Bible? 00:06:33.15\00:06:36.54 This should my only question be. 00:06:36.74\00:06:39.96 Prophecy is fulfilling... the end is nearing. 00:06:40.16\00:06:44.56 What says the Book of God to me? 00:06:44.77\00:06:47.29 That's what we want to find out 00:06:47.50\00:06:49.18 as we take a look at God's Word. 00:06:49.38\00:06:51.21 So we're glad you're here. 00:06:51.31\00:06:53.10 Hope that it will help you as you study 00:06:53.30\00:06:55.78 particularly the books of Daniel and Revelation. 00:06:55.99\00:06:58.08 Now, tomorrow night. Tomorrow night our subject is 00:06:58.28\00:07:03.00 The Beast from the Bottomless Pit. 00:07:03.20\00:07:05.93 That will be our next presentation. 00:07:06.03\00:07:07.77 The Beast from the Bottomless Pit. 00:07:07.97\00:07:09.87 And as you have found out as we studied prophecy, 00:07:10.07\00:07:13.13 God uses beasts to represent nations or powers. 00:07:13.33\00:07:17.27 So this is the next one we're going to be talking about. 00:07:17.48\00:07:19.68 Actually, tonight's presentation 00:07:19.88\00:07:23.15 and tomorrow night's presentation both go together. 00:07:23.35\00:07:26.75 They're both on the 11th chapter of Revelation. 00:07:26.95\00:07:30.86 So we're putting that all together, and we hope 00:07:31.06\00:07:34.35 that it will help you see the - how shall I say - the accuracy 00:07:34.45\00:07:39.91 of God's Word. 00:07:40.01\00:07:41.27 How that God tells us things are going to happen 00:07:41.47\00:07:44.88 and, folks, it takes place just exactly as God says. 00:07:44.98\00:07:49.04 So you want to be sure and follow it as we go through it 00:07:49.24\00:07:53.40 step by step. Tonight we're talking about the two witnesses. 00:07:53.60\00:07:57.13 In Revelation the 11th chapter there are two witnesses. 00:07:57.23\00:08:00.05 So what are you looking for? 00:08:00.25\00:08:02.67 You want to find out who are they. 00:08:02.87\00:08:04.92 Who are these two witnesses? 00:08:05.12\00:08:07.17 What do they do? 00:08:07.37\00:08:08.85 What does the Bible talk about them? 00:08:09.05\00:08:11.15 When did they exist? 00:08:11.35\00:08:13.18 What took place? That's what we're going to look at 00:08:13.38\00:08:15.41 when we talk about the two witnesses. 00:08:15.61\00:08:17.50 So be sure, follow as we go along. 00:08:17.70\00:08:21.06 Take a look at Bible prophecy. 00:08:21.26\00:08:22.87 So again, we're glad you're back with us. 00:08:23.08\00:08:25.74 We hope that you'll be blessed in a special way. 00:08:25.94\00:08:28.01 We're very happy to have Larry Blackwell with us. 00:08:28.21\00:08:30.77 Larry helps us in our crusades 00:08:30.97\00:08:33.89 that we hold from place to place. 00:08:33.99\00:08:36.03 Always an inspiration. We enjoy having him with us. 00:08:36.24\00:08:38.93 He's going to sing for you the song "Who Am I. " 00:08:39.13\00:08:42.52 When I think of how 00:09:09.10\00:09:13.90 He left His home in glory. 00:09:14.30\00:09:20.26 Came to dwell among 00:09:22.57\00:09:27.56 the lowly such as I. 00:09:27.77\00:09:33.71 To suffer shame 00:09:36.18\00:09:39.21 and such disgrace... 00:09:39.24\00:09:42.94 on Mount Calvary take my place. 00:09:43.44\00:09:49.41 Then I ask 00:09:49.61\00:09:52.60 myself the question: 00:09:52.80\00:09:56.55 Who am I? 00:09:56.75\00:10:02.24 Who am I that the King 00:10:03.56\00:10:09.50 would bleed and die for? 00:10:09.80\00:10:15.74 Who am I 00:10:16.88\00:10:19.92 that He would pray 00:10:20.12\00:10:23.04 "Not My will, Thine" for? 00:10:23.24\00:10:29.15 The answer: 00:10:30.33\00:10:32.06 I may never know 00:10:32.26\00:10:36.82 why He ever 00:10:37.02\00:10:40.52 loved me so. 00:10:40.72\00:10:43.65 But to an old rugged cross 00:10:43.85\00:10:48.18 He'd go 00:10:48.48\00:10:50.26 for who am I. 00:10:50.46\00:10:55.16 When I'm reminded 00:11:04.91\00:11:07.37 of His words 00:11:07.57\00:11:10.33 "I'll leave you never. 00:11:10.53\00:11:16.44 Just be true; 00:11:16.64\00:11:20.69 I'll give to you 00:11:20.89\00:11:23.99 a life forever. " 00:11:24.19\00:11:30.12 I wonder what 00:11:31.05\00:11:33.81 I could have done 00:11:34.01\00:11:37.86 to deserve 00:11:38.06\00:11:41.07 God's Only Son. 00:11:41.17\00:11:44.82 Fight my battles all 00:11:45.02\00:11:49.16 till they're won. 00:11:49.36\00:11:51.25 Who am I? 00:11:51.45\00:11:57.35 Oh, who am I 00:11:57.55\00:12:01.38 that a King 00:12:01.58\00:12:04.46 would bleed and die for? 00:12:04.66\00:12:10.60 Who am I 00:12:11.71\00:12:14.82 that He would pray 00:12:15.02\00:12:18.02 "Not My will, Thine" for? 00:12:18.22\00:12:24.21 The answer: 00:12:24.41\00:12:26.90 I may never know 00:12:27.10\00:12:31.86 why He ever loved 00:12:32.06\00:12:36.94 me so. 00:12:37.14\00:12:38.48 But to an old rugged cross 00:12:38.68\00:12:43.21 He'd go. 00:12:43.41\00:12:45.47 Oh, His love 00:12:45.67\00:12:48.53 He would bestow. 00:12:48.73\00:12:52.14 But to an old rugged cross 00:12:52.34\00:12:56.62 He'd go 00:12:56.82\00:12:58.58 for who am I. 00:12:58.78\00:13:03.75 Who am 00:13:06.32\00:13:09.00 I? 00:13:09.20\00:13:15.18 Our Heavenly Father, 00:13:32.36\00:13:34.01 we come to You this evening 00:13:34.21\00:13:37.35 opening our hearts. 00:13:37.38\00:13:40.86 Inviting the Holy Spirit to guide, 00:13:41.06\00:13:45.81 to lead, to impress us. 00:13:46.01\00:13:48.82 To give us understanding. 00:13:49.02\00:13:51.17 We pray Lord that we each may listen carefully. 00:13:51.48\00:13:57.47 That we might comprehend 00:13:57.67\00:14:00.23 and that we might renew our dedication, 00:14:00.43\00:14:06.15 our consecration to You. 00:14:06.35\00:14:08.18 And Lord, if we haven't known You, 00:14:08.38\00:14:11.57 help us to see what You have done 00:14:11.77\00:14:16.79 and give our hearts to You tonight. 00:14:16.99\00:14:19.16 We pray in Christ's name, Amen. 00:14:19.36\00:14:23.13 The last series that we did 00:14:30.01\00:14:34.18 we were looking at Revelation the 17th chapter 00:14:34.38\00:14:37.99 if you remember. And in this 17th chapter 00:14:38.19\00:14:41.85 it said this: 00:14:42.05\00:14:43.56 And you remember we looked at those five. 00:14:56.24\00:14:58.42 That's what the last series was about. 00:14:58.52\00:15:00.26 Five Have Fallen. We took it step by step. 00:15:00.46\00:15:04.85 and showed you those five that have fallen. 00:15:05.05\00:15:07.49 And then it says "One is. " 00:15:07.70\00:15:09.96 That's where we are tonight. 00:15:10.16\00:15:12.71 We are identifying the "One is, " and that will take us 00:15:12.91\00:15:16.58 tonight and tomorrow night. 00:15:16.78\00:15:19.08 Both presentations to cover that subject of "One Is. " 00:15:19.28\00:15:22.53 So that's what you want to look at. 00:15:22.73\00:15:24.44 The other is not yet come, and 00:15:24.65\00:15:26.21 we'll be going to that one. 00:15:26.41\00:15:28.18 So what we're endeavoring to do 00:15:31.42\00:15:34.08 is to explain Revelation the 17th chapter because 00:15:34.28\00:15:38.91 the 17th chapter of Revelation is where it ends. As far as 00:15:39.11\00:15:43.70 the nations are concerned and beasts are concerned, 00:15:43.80\00:15:45.99 that's the last chapter. 00:15:46.19\00:15:47.88 It mentions those, so it's important that we understand 00:15:48.08\00:15:51.58 what is happening right down at the end. 00:15:51.78\00:15:54.46 That's the reason we're looking at this tonight. 00:15:54.66\00:15:56.79 We hope that it will help you. 00:15:56.99\00:15:58.15 And as we studied the Five Haven Fallen, 00:15:58.25\00:16:00.77 you remember the first nation that we looked at was Babylon. 00:16:00.81\00:16:04.06 Babylon existed from 609 BC to 539 BC. 00:16:04.44\00:16:09.48 This was the power of Babylon, 00:16:09.68\00:16:12.55 and you remember it was pictured in Daniel 7 as the lion. 00:16:12.75\00:16:16.87 And Babylon fell to Medo-Persia. 00:16:17.07\00:16:22.17 And Medo-Persia is pictured in Daniel the 7th chapter 00:16:22.37\00:16:26.04 as the bear. 00:16:26.24\00:16:27.66 And Medo-Persia went from 539 BC to 331 BC. 00:16:27.86\00:16:33.45 And this power overthrew Babylon and ruled. 00:16:33.65\00:16:38.11 And then we find that Medo-Persia was overthrown by 00:16:38.31\00:16:41.74 Greece. Yes, Greece overthrew 00:16:41.94\00:16:45.86 Medo-Persia 331 BC and went to 168 BC. 00:16:46.06\00:16:52.05 And you remember it was under the leadership of 00:16:52.25\00:16:54.05 Alexander the Great. 00:16:54.15\00:16:55.44 And he conquered everything that he could lay his hands on 00:16:55.47\00:16:59.36 by the age of 31 and wept 00:16:59.39\00:17:02.15 because there was nothing else to conquer. 00:17:02.35\00:17:04.07 That's why that beast had four wings. 00:17:04.27\00:17:06.25 Represented the swiftness with which Alexander the Great 00:17:06.45\00:17:09.22 went across the world. And the four heads 00:17:09.42\00:17:12.03 represented his four generals that the kingdom was given to 00:17:12.23\00:17:15.96 when Alexander the Great died. 00:17:16.16\00:17:17.85 But Greece came to an end, 00:17:18.05\00:17:21.86 and Greece was overthrown by pagan Rome. 00:17:22.06\00:17:26.17 Pagan Rome went from 168 BC 00:17:26.38\00:17:30.81 to 476 AD. 00:17:31.01\00:17:33.90 Rome - pictured as the iron monarchy of Rome - 00:17:34.10\00:17:38.82 it talks about this dragon that had great iron teeth. 00:17:38.93\00:17:42.05 And it crushed everything that was before it. 00:17:42.25\00:17:44.58 Rome fell 476 AD 00:17:44.78\00:17:49.76 and she fell to papal Rome. 00:17:49.86\00:17:53.22 Papal Rome came up 538 AD 00:17:53.42\00:17:57.53 and would go to 1798 AD. 00:17:57.73\00:18:01.46 That was the period of time of papal Rome. 00:18:01.66\00:18:05.13 And so we have Five Have Fallen. 00:18:05.33\00:18:08.96 Those are the five that we've already looked at. 00:18:09.16\00:18:12.02 And I'd encourage you to go back and review 00:18:12.22\00:18:15.32 what we have looked at if some of it's not clear to you. 00:18:15.52\00:18:18.36 OK. Tonight we're taking a look at One Is. 00:18:18.57\00:18:22.61 And as I told you, this one will take tonight's presentation 00:18:22.81\00:18:27.53 and tomorrow night's presentation to cover it 00:18:27.73\00:18:30.80 because it's got lots of material in it. 00:18:31.01\00:18:33.50 We have to put a lot of things together to help you understand 00:18:33.70\00:18:36.73 as we take a look at this beast in Revelation the 11th chapter. 00:18:36.93\00:18:41.66 One that not much is said about 00:18:41.87\00:18:44.93 but a very, very important one. 00:18:45.14\00:18:47.66 So let's go to the 11th chapter of Revelation. 00:18:47.86\00:18:50.29 See what it has to say about it. Revelation the 11th chapter 00:18:50.49\00:18:53.47 verse 7. And it says: 00:18:53.67\00:18:55.34 Now we'll come back to that 00:18:57.75\00:18:59.69 and establish who they are. OK... 00:18:59.89\00:19:02.46 Now you find that this is talking about the two witnesses. 00:19:12.68\00:19:16.91 That's who it's talking about. 00:19:17.12\00:19:18.93 And in verse 3 it describes these two witnesses and says: 00:19:19.13\00:19:22.74 So the scripture is telling us 00:19:32.44\00:19:34.22 that this beast that comes out of the bottomless pit 00:19:34.42\00:19:37.02 is going to make war with the two witnesses 00:19:37.22\00:19:40.28 and it will overcome them and kill them. 00:19:40.48\00:19:44.25 And it says in the scripture that they "will prophesy 00:19:44.45\00:19:48.79 for 1,260 days clothed in sackcloth. " 00:19:48.99\00:19:54.61 So what we're going to do tonight is we're going to go 00:19:54.81\00:19:56.91 back to the 11th chapter and start with verse 1 00:19:57.01\00:20:00.66 and we're going to read to verse 7 so you kind of get 00:20:00.86\00:20:04.11 the picture of what's happening. 00:20:04.21\00:20:05.95 So let's take a look and see what it's telling us here. 00:20:06.15\00:20:08.88 So the angel is told to measure this place. 00:20:19.91\00:20:23.17 So here you have two time prophecies. 00:20:38.29\00:20:40.81 You have 1,260 days 00:20:40.84\00:20:43.93 and you have 42 months. 00:20:44.13\00:20:45.89 Both those are mentioned here as we are reading. 00:20:46.09\00:20:48.70 So these two witnesses are going to prophesy 00:20:57.15\00:20:59.96 for 1,260 days clothed in sackcloth... 00:21:00.16\00:21:04.12 or - if you please - for 42 months. 00:21:04.32\00:21:06.92 Same period of time. 00:21:07.12\00:21:08.96 Now, let's begin to identify who they are. 00:21:09.16\00:21:12.53 "These are two... " Strange! Two witnesses... 00:21:12.74\00:21:18.15 So it says these two witnesses, two olive trees, 00:21:27.30\00:21:30.75 two lampstands that are standing there before God. 00:21:30.95\00:21:34.29 So these two witnesses have the power 00:22:01.84\00:22:05.11 to turn water into blood. 00:22:05.31\00:22:07.54 To strike the earth with plagues. 00:22:07.75\00:22:09.92 What it's saying. 00:22:10.12\00:22:11.84 Goes on: 00:22:12.04\00:22:13.11 OK, so we've looked at these... 00:22:25.22\00:22:27.89 Now let's see if we can begin to identify who they are: 00:22:28.09\00:22:31.48 these two witnesses. 00:22:31.68\00:22:32.99 Who are the two witnesses it's talking about here? 00:22:33.19\00:22:36.35 Now folks, if you're going to understand the Bible, 00:22:45.92\00:22:50.86 you've got to go to the scripture 00:22:51.06\00:22:54.35 and let it interpret itself. 00:22:54.55\00:22:57.20 I want to say that again. 00:22:57.60\00:22:59.77 If you're going to understand scripture, 00:22:59.97\00:23:02.26 you're going to have to go to the Bible 00:23:02.46\00:23:04.32 and let it interpret itself. 00:23:04.53\00:23:06.15 Like on this subject we're studying tonight, 00:23:06.35\00:23:08.72 you hear all kinds of things said about it. 00:23:08.92\00:23:11.85 The problem is, it's most of it or all of it is speculation. 00:23:12.05\00:23:16.59 And the moment you enter into speculation 00:23:16.79\00:23:19.53 you can say anything you want to. 00:23:19.73\00:23:22.24 You've got to go to God's Word 00:23:22.34\00:23:23.94 and say is there somewhere where the scripture will identify this 00:23:24.14\00:23:28.19 and tell me what it's talking about. 00:23:28.40\00:23:30.30 Can I find that? Yes, you can! 00:23:30.50\00:23:32.54 Are these two olive trees, these two lampstands 00:23:32.74\00:23:36.61 mentioned other places in God's Word? 00:23:36.81\00:23:38.68 Well yes they are. They're found in Zechariah. 00:23:38.89\00:23:41.64 Zechariah the 4th chapter verse 1. 00:23:41.84\00:23:45.79 So here you have them. 00:24:16.10\00:24:17.65 You have the two olive trees; you have the lampstands... 00:24:17.85\00:24:20.80 just like is mentioned there in the 11th chapter of Revelation. 00:24:21.01\00:24:24.66 Watch as it continues: 00:24:24.86\00:24:27.01 Asked him the question: Who are these - if you please - 00:24:33.47\00:24:37.04 two witnesses? Who are these two olive trees? 00:24:37.24\00:24:39.56 These two lampstands? 00:24:39.76\00:24:41.30 Now he said: "Who are these? " 00:25:03.90\00:25:05.47 Said: "Well this is the Word of the Lord to Zerubbabel. 00:25:05.67\00:25:08.55 Not my might, nor by power, 00:25:08.58\00:25:12.51 but by My Spirit saith the Lord. " 00:25:12.71\00:25:15.36 All right. Let's see what it's talking about here. 00:25:15.56\00:25:19.18 What are they? What are they supposed to do? 00:25:24.52\00:25:27.26 We've got two olive trees; 00:25:27.47\00:25:29.65 we've got two lampstands here. 00:25:29.85\00:25:31.45 What's the purpose of these two? 00:25:31.66\00:25:33.28 What are they supposed to do? 00:25:33.48\00:25:34.75 Well the scripture tells us 00:25:34.95\00:25:36.05 very clearly what they do... 00:25:36.15\00:25:38.59 what they accomplish. Watch: 00:25:38.69\00:25:39.91 Getting the picture? 00:26:02.65\00:26:03.80 Here you've got the two olive trees. 00:26:04.00\00:26:06.62 From those two olive trees drips oil 00:26:06.82\00:26:10.67 into the pipes that flow to the lampstands. 00:26:10.87\00:26:16.42 OK? Why do you think they're going there? 00:26:16.62\00:26:19.30 Why is oil dripping off of those two olive trees 00:26:19.60\00:26:24.42 into the receptacle onto the lampstand. 00:26:24.62\00:26:28.13 Well... 00:26:28.33\00:26:30.87 Now it says these two are two anointed ones 00:26:38.91\00:26:42.79 that stand before the God of the whole earth. 00:26:43.00\00:26:45.36 That word anointed in Hebrew 00:26:45.56\00:26:49.65 is this word. In Hebrew it is hayitshaar. 00:26:49.85\00:26:54.24 You can read... and in Hebrew that word 00:26:54.64\00:26:57.20 hayitshaar means one who produces light. 00:26:57.41\00:27:01.54 That's what it means. So it says: 00:27:01.74\00:27:04.56 So those two witnesses there are those who produce light. 00:27:12.93\00:27:17.39 And so the oil comes from the olive tree, runs through the 00:27:17.59\00:27:21.75 receptacles and to the lampstands 00:27:21.85\00:27:24.43 and there it produces light. 00:27:24.63\00:27:27.19 OK? That is the purpose is to produce light. 00:27:27.39\00:27:32.06 You remember God had told Samuel 00:27:32.26\00:27:37.54 to anoint David to be the next king of Israel. 00:27:37.74\00:27:41.90 Remember he took oil 00:27:42.10\00:27:45.42 and went and anointed David as the next king of Israel. 00:27:45.62\00:27:50.72 And throughout scripture 00:27:50.93\00:27:52.54 oil is used over and over 00:27:52.74\00:27:55.97 to represent that of the Holy Spirit. 00:27:56.17\00:27:58.32 You remember on the Day of Pentecost... 00:27:58.52\00:28:01.61 The Holy Spirit was poured out on the Day of Pentecost 00:28:01.81\00:28:05.06 and it appeared as what? Tongues of fire 00:28:05.26\00:28:10.93 on the heads of the people that were gathered there 00:28:11.13\00:28:14.45 in the upper room. OK. 00:28:14.65\00:28:17.01 If you have oil like in the seven golden lampstands 00:28:17.31\00:28:23.21 in the sanctuary - you've got oil - and you put fire with it, 00:28:23.41\00:28:28.60 OK. What does that do? 00:28:28.80\00:28:32.60 It produces light. 00:28:32.80\00:28:36.20 OK. That's what it does. It produces light. 00:28:36.40\00:28:39.22 So what do we see in Psalms 119 verse 105? 00:28:40.09\00:28:45.97 So when it talks about these two witnesses 00:28:54.09\00:28:56.35 and it says "This is the Word of the Lord to Zerubbabel, 00:28:56.45\00:28:59.82 this is what happens. 00:29:06.37\00:29:09.05 You understand what that meant? 00:29:21.46\00:29:25.03 You see when it talks about the two witnesses 00:29:25.23\00:29:28.54 and how they produce light 00:29:28.74\00:29:30.61 it's really talking about the Old and the New Testament. 00:29:30.81\00:29:33.77 Those are the two witnesses, and they produce light. 00:29:33.98\00:29:39.14 Didn't you, when you first started studying the scripture, 00:29:40.08\00:29:45.69 didn't the light come on? 00:29:45.89\00:29:47.63 Huh? Man, I see it so many times 00:29:47.83\00:29:50.84 working with people... be studying with them 00:29:51.05\00:29:53.46 and all of a sudden it hits. 00:29:53.66\00:29:55.73 The light comes one. You can see it in their eyes. 00:29:55.93\00:29:58.31 All of a sudden they see it. It makes... it's plain. 00:29:58.51\00:30:01.30 The light came on. That's what the Holy Spirit does. 00:30:01.50\00:30:04.38 Those are the two witnesses 00:30:04.58\00:30:06.26 that produce light is the Old and New Testament. 00:30:06.46\00:30:10.38 And if you'll stay with me and follow, 00:30:10.58\00:30:13.58 you'll see how this all fits together 00:30:13.78\00:30:16.47 step by step as the scripture presents it. 00:30:16.67\00:30:19.79 You'll understand how the Holy Spirit works with people 00:30:19.99\00:30:22.88 and how it takes place in the lives of men and women. 00:30:23.08\00:30:26.33 Now it says: 00:30:26.53\00:30:27.68 Now there are some people that read that 00:30:52.34\00:30:55.67 and say that is talking about Moses and Elijah. 00:30:55.87\00:30:59.12 And they try to make that apply to Moses and Elijah. 00:30:59.32\00:31:04.16 And they say that since Moses prayed 00:31:04.36\00:31:08.72 and the water turned to blood 00:31:08.92\00:31:11.25 that's talking about Moses. 00:31:11.46\00:31:13.30 And since Elijah prayed and it didn't rain, 00:31:13.50\00:31:16.06 that's talking about Elijah. 00:31:16.26\00:31:17.71 Well, if you make that application, 00:31:17.91\00:31:22.40 you run into some difficult things... 00:31:22.60\00:31:25.08 because again you start speculating. 00:31:25.28\00:31:27.98 And they say: "Well, since that's Moses and Elijah 00:31:28.18\00:31:31.60 that means that Moses and Elijah are coming back to the earth 00:31:31.80\00:31:35.21 and this beast is going to kill them. " 00:31:35.41\00:31:37.58 Now that's... You know, how you do you put that together 00:31:37.78\00:31:42.94 that they both are up in heaven 00:31:43.14\00:31:45.79 and they're going to come back to the earth 00:31:45.99\00:31:47.57 and they're going to be killed? 00:31:47.77\00:31:49.25 You see, you get into things that are speculative. 00:31:49.45\00:31:53.96 The scripture doesn't leave us in one bit of doubt 00:31:54.16\00:31:57.48 as to what those two texts are talking about. 00:31:57.69\00:31:59.81 And the reason it doesn't is because it turns right around 00:32:00.01\00:32:03.07 and tells us exactly what it's talking about. 00:32:03.27\00:32:05.31 Watch what is says here in Revelation 22: 00:32:05.52\00:32:07.88 Isn't that what the other said? 00:32:24.09\00:32:25.29 Said they had the power to put plagues on people. 00:32:25.49\00:32:29.60 So it says that it would take those away. 00:32:42.05\00:32:45.31 So it's talking specifically about God's Word. 00:32:45.51\00:32:48.85 Yes, Moses prayed. 00:32:48.95\00:32:51.67 And he prayed, and the water turned to blood. 00:32:51.88\00:32:55.11 He did it on the basis of God's Word. 00:32:55.31\00:33:00.56 He did it because God told him to... 00:33:00.59\00:33:04.07 not because Moses possessed any power. 00:33:04.27\00:33:07.67 Elijah prayed, and it didn't rain. 00:33:07.87\00:33:11.06 And it didn't because God told him that it wouldn't. 00:33:11.26\00:33:16.09 And so God's Word is His authority 00:33:16.30\00:33:20.29 and these are the two witnesses mentioned there in God's Word. 00:33:20.49\00:33:24.76 Let's take a look at that word sackcloth. 00:33:36.55\00:33:38.82 Sackcloth means what? 00:33:39.02\00:33:41.90 Well it means persecution. 00:33:42.10\00:33:45.59 It means hard times. 00:33:45.79\00:33:47.64 It means sorrow. 00:33:47.84\00:33:49.30 It means distress. 00:33:49.50\00:33:51.01 So it says that these two witnesses are prophesying 00:33:51.21\00:33:54.88 under very, very difficult times. 00:33:55.08\00:33:58.59 Prophesying... but it's hard times. 00:33:58.80\00:34:02.40 It not only says that they'll be prophesying in sackcloth 00:34:02.60\00:34:06.91 but it tells you how long 00:34:07.11\00:34:09.22 they're going to prophesy in sackcloth. 00:34:09.43\00:34:11.68 Now this 1,260 days 00:34:23.49\00:34:26.93 is not a number that you don't see. 00:34:27.13\00:34:30.96 I mean, it's used throughout prophecy. 00:34:31.16\00:34:33.63 And if you take a look at it, you'll find that time, 00:34:33.83\00:34:37.57 times, and a half a time 00:34:37.77\00:34:40.06 is mentioned in Daniel 7:25. 00:34:40.26\00:34:43.37 It's also mentioned in Daniel 12 verse 7. 00:34:43.57\00:34:46.60 1,260 days is mentioned in Revelation 12 verse 6. 00:34:46.80\00:34:50.60 Time, times, and a half a time is mentioned again 00:34:50.80\00:34:53.58 in Revelation 12:14. 00:34:53.78\00:34:55.66 And forty-two months is mentioned in Revelation 13:5. 00:34:55.86\00:34:59.98 So those are used, and when they're used throughout 00:35:00.18\00:35:02.96 the scripture they refer to the same period of time. 00:35:03.16\00:35:07.74 Very clearly. Ezekiel 4:6 tells us: 00:35:07.94\00:35:12.32 Number 14:34 says: 00:35:16.58\00:35:18.64 So in Bible prophecy, a day simply represents 00:35:22.45\00:35:27.45 one year. 00:35:27.65\00:35:29.77 That's what it represents in Bible prophecy. 00:35:29.97\00:35:31.83 OK. In Bible prophecy, a time represents one year. 00:35:32.03\00:35:37.57 And in Biblical reckoning of time, 00:35:37.77\00:35:40.97 there are 360 days in a Biblical year. 00:35:41.17\00:35:44.42 If you need proof of that, 00:35:44.62\00:35:46.43 you need to go back and read the story of the flood. 00:35:46.63\00:35:48.60 And you'll find that it makes it very clear... 00:35:48.81\00:35:50.79 there's 360 days in the Biblical year. 00:35:51.00\00:35:54.06 OK. So if I've got time, that's one year... 360 days. 00:35:54.26\00:35:58.64 Times is two years or 720, 00:35:58.85\00:36:03.44 and a half a time is a half a year... 180. 00:36:03.64\00:36:06.45 Add them up. That gives you 1,260. 00:36:06.65\00:36:10.50 If I've got 42 months and there are 30 days in a Biblical month, 00:36:10.70\00:36:14.25 30 times 42 gives me 1,260 again. 00:36:14.45\00:36:18.56 OK. So that's the same period of time all the way through 00:36:18.77\00:36:22.12 and it represents a period of time 00:36:22.15\00:36:25.19 from 538 AD to 1798 AD 00:36:25.39\00:36:31.28 which is known in history 00:36:31.48\00:36:33.98 as the time of papal supremacy. 00:36:34.18\00:36:37.63 This was the time when it says that they would prophesy 00:36:37.83\00:36:43.60 but under great distress. 00:36:43.80\00:36:46.52 In sackcloth they would be prophesying. 00:36:46.72\00:36:50.25 This is a time that was indeed difficult. 00:36:50.45\00:36:54.86 Hard for you and I even to imagine 00:36:55.06\00:36:59.82 what those people went through. 00:37:00.02\00:37:02.80 The Bible was taken away from them. 00:37:03.00\00:37:07.22 Chained to library walls. 00:37:07.52\00:37:10.72 They were told that they were too ignorant to read it. 00:37:11.63\00:37:17.17 They were told that they had to accept what it said 00:37:18.23\00:37:22.21 at the interpretation of the priest. 00:37:22.41\00:37:25.73 That they had no right. 00:37:27.27\00:37:29.32 And not only was it taken away from them 00:37:29.52\00:37:31.94 but they were forbidden to read it. 00:37:32.14\00:37:35.23 Weren't allowed to. 00:37:35.43\00:37:38.10 And the only way you could read it was to hide. 00:37:38.30\00:37:42.03 And then it was diffcult to have because... 00:37:42.23\00:37:46.57 You've got it there in print. 00:37:46.60\00:37:48.71 They didn't have it in print then. 00:37:48.91\00:37:51.45 Was taken away from them. 00:37:51.65\00:37:53.65 Nobody had it. 00:37:53.85\00:37:56.29 Let me just tell you one little thing here. 00:37:56.39\00:37:58.24 When you get to 500 AD... 00:37:59.52\00:38:05.28 listen to me. 500 AD 00:38:05.48\00:38:08.48 the Bible had been translated 00:38:08.69\00:38:12.09 into 500 different languages. 00:38:13.19\00:38:19.18 Let me say that again. 00:38:19.38\00:38:21.86 When you get to 500 AD, 00:38:22.06\00:38:25.60 the scripture had been translated 00:38:25.70\00:38:27.77 into 500 other languages. 00:38:27.97\00:38:31.75 By the time you reach 600 AD, 00:38:32.83\00:38:38.80 there was only one language. 00:38:39.00\00:38:42.06 It had been confiscated. 00:38:42.26\00:38:45.67 Taken away from the people. 00:38:45.87\00:38:47.37 And the only language you could get the Bible in 00:38:47.57\00:38:50.45 was Latin. 00:38:50.65\00:38:51.77 And if you couldn't read Latin, you were out of luck. 00:38:51.97\00:38:55.58 And... and I'm not talking, folks, about a short time. 00:38:55.78\00:39:00.85 I'm talking about this going on for hundreds of years 00:39:01.05\00:39:04.52 that the people didn't have access to it. 00:39:04.72\00:39:07.34 All they had was what the priest told them. 00:39:07.54\00:39:10.17 And they were told that they couldn't understand it... 00:39:10.20\00:39:12.23 they were too ignorant. 00:39:12.33\00:39:13.67 And so you find that many people 00:39:13.87\00:39:17.52 hid it. And some people like the Waldensians... 00:39:17.72\00:39:22.60 Listen to what history says: 00:39:22.70\00:39:23.78 Paganism came into the church... 00:39:39.81\00:39:43.04 all kinds of pagan ceremonies and everything. 00:39:43.24\00:39:46.31 And you find the church going away from God. 00:39:46.51\00:39:49.70 And they departed so much from God 00:39:49.91\00:39:53.92 that people like the Waldensian people 00:39:54.12\00:39:57.06 fled up into the mountains, into the Alps. 00:39:57.26\00:40:02.06 And there they lived so they could worship 00:40:02.26\00:40:07.41 as they pleased... like they wanted to. 00:40:07.61\00:40:10.37 And they could read God's Word. 00:40:10.57\00:40:12.57 Can't go too far into history here tonight, but 00:40:12.77\00:40:15.94 there was a man in Antioch by the name Lucerne. 00:40:16.14\00:40:19.81 He had translated the Bible. 00:40:20.01\00:40:23.24 The Waldensian people got it from him. 00:40:23.44\00:40:25.56 And so the Waldensian people were the ones who brought 00:40:25.76\00:40:29.01 the Word of God right on through to us today. 00:40:29.21\00:40:33.95 in your Bible. And this came to... but they were hunted. 00:40:34.15\00:40:38.44 They were hunted by the papal power. 00:40:38.64\00:40:41.96 They were killed by the hundreds upon hundreds... 00:40:42.16\00:40:44.78 thousands who lost their life 00:40:44.98\00:40:47.01 because they believed in God's Word. 00:40:47.21\00:40:49.61 Now folks, if you're not getting what I'm trying to tell you 00:40:49.71\00:40:52.05 I'm trying to describe to you sackcloth. 00:40:52.25\00:40:54.87 They would prophesy clothed in sackcloth. 00:40:55.07\00:40:59.29 Hard times; persecution. 00:40:59.49\00:41:01.29 It's rough; not an easy time. 00:41:01.49\00:41:04.22 Among these Waldensian people 00:41:04.42\00:41:07.92 they had God's Word, and a man by the name of 00:41:08.12\00:41:13.25 Wyclif... John Wyclif of England, 00:41:13.45\00:41:17.35 known as the Morning Star of the Reformation, 00:41:17.56\00:41:21.80 he began to read God's Word 00:41:22.00\00:41:25.78 and you'll find that Wycif began to teach the people 00:41:25.98\00:41:29.47 the Word of God and they began to follow the Word of God. 00:41:29.67\00:41:34.16 And he translated the Bible into English. 00:41:34.36\00:41:38.49 For this, the papal power 00:41:39.85\00:41:43.72 sent a delgation, arrested him, 00:41:43.92\00:41:47.53 and were going to burn him at the stake. 00:41:47.73\00:41:50.86 But he died before they were able to get him to the stake 00:41:51.06\00:41:57.00 and burn him. 00:41:57.10\00:41:58.25 But John Wyclif wrote marvelous things 00:41:58.45\00:42:04.05 about God's Word that as these people who hadn't known 00:42:04.25\00:42:08.16 anything - and you can see the date for that, 1380 AD - 00:42:08.26\00:42:11.99 And if you're having trouble putting dates together, folks, 00:42:12.19\00:42:15.76 that's 200 years before Luther 00:42:15.96\00:42:18.17 if that helps you to understand the time period. 00:42:18.37\00:42:21.89 And these people who have been in darkness 00:42:22.09\00:42:24.73 for years and years and years 00:42:24.93\00:42:26.93 all of a sudden as they picked up Wyclif's writings 00:42:27.13\00:42:29.87 they began to see. 00:42:29.90\00:42:30.96 The light came on. 00:42:31.16\00:42:33.25 See? They saw. 00:42:33.45\00:42:34.92 It was a witness to them 00:42:35.02\00:42:36.10 and they saw things they had never seen before. 00:42:36.31\00:42:38.51 And it made a difference in their life. 00:42:38.71\00:42:40.64 Now the writings of Wycif... 00:42:40.84\00:42:46.80 some men... a couple preachers from England 00:42:47.00\00:42:52.22 where Wycif was from... came down to Bohemia 00:42:52.42\00:42:56.08 and they started preaching there. 00:42:56.28\00:42:59.75 And they started preaching the things that Wyclif had 00:42:59.95\00:43:03.20 told them and had taught them. 00:43:03.40\00:43:04.82 And they were forbidden to preach. 00:43:05.02\00:43:08.06 Told that they could not preach. 00:43:08.26\00:43:10.51 And since they were forbidden to preach, 00:43:10.71\00:43:13.50 both of them were good artists. 00:43:13.70\00:43:16.70 And so they would just go into a town and on a barn or 00:43:16.90\00:43:20.58 a vacant building or anything they could find 00:43:20.79\00:43:22.98 they'd paint pictures. 00:43:23.18\00:43:24.70 And one of them would paint a picture of the Pope 00:43:24.90\00:43:28.12 dressed in all his regalia, 00:43:28.32\00:43:30.96 accompanied with all the cardinals and all the trumpet 00:43:31.16\00:43:35.89 and all the fanfare and dressed in all his pontifical robes. 00:43:36.09\00:43:40.10 All of this they would picture him as. 00:43:40.30\00:43:43.04 And then the other artist would paint a picture of Jesus 00:43:43.24\00:43:47.52 riding on a donkey and in His lowliness. 00:43:47.72\00:43:51.76 And the people could see the vast difference there was. 00:43:51.96\00:43:56.01 No different today, is it? 00:43:56.21\00:44:00.16 But they could see it 00:44:00.36\00:44:03.96 and they understood what the message was. 00:44:04.16\00:44:06.77 And one of those individuals who began to look at that 00:44:06.97\00:44:10.23 and he began to read the writings of Wycif 00:44:10.43\00:44:13.77 was a man by the name of John Hus. 00:44:13.97\00:44:17.42 And John Hus began to stand up and preach... 00:44:17.62\00:44:23.53 preach the Word of God. And as he preached it, 00:44:23.73\00:44:28.32 those people began to follow. They became known as Husites. 00:44:28.53\00:44:32.12 And they accepted the Word of God and followed Him. 00:44:32.32\00:44:35.32 And a young man joined him in preaching by the name of Jerome. 00:44:35.52\00:44:39.37 The papal power heard about it. 00:44:41.24\00:44:45.46 They sent down a delegation. 00:44:45.66\00:44:48.71 Arrested John Hus and burned him at the stake. 00:44:49.22\00:44:55.21 A little while later they arrested Jerome. 00:44:55.41\00:45:00.22 They put him in jail and kept him there for over 2 years. 00:45:01.53\00:45:07.46 Such horrible conditions that they chained him 00:45:07.66\00:45:12.42 on his legs and on his hands and the flesh would rot away. 00:45:12.62\00:45:15.98 Horrible. And finally they burned him at the stake. 00:45:16.19\00:45:20.82 Talking about a time of great persecution. 00:45:21.02\00:45:25.12 Hard, hard times. 00:45:25.15\00:45:27.66 But these were men, women of God that stood up and they said 00:45:27.86\00:45:31.79 "Yes, this is what the Word of God teaches. 00:45:31.99\00:45:34.81 This is what we will follow. " 00:45:35.01\00:45:36.86 What says the Bible, the blessed Bible? 00:45:37.06\00:45:39.84 This my only question be. 00:45:40.04\00:45:43.16 The teachings of men so often mislead us. 00:45:43.36\00:45:47.11 What says the Word of God to me? 00:45:47.31\00:45:51.00 That's what you and I have to know and have to understand. 00:45:51.20\00:45:53.90 Out of that... arresting Jerome... 00:45:58.35\00:46:01.88 burning him at the stake... 00:46:02.08\00:46:05.14 But the light of the Reformation had been lit 00:46:05.34\00:46:11.10 and it began to spread across the country. 00:46:11.30\00:46:13.82 And people were willing to lay down their life 00:46:14.02\00:46:17.80 just for the Word of God. 00:46:18.00\00:46:20.07 Until finally you move into the 1500's 00:46:20.27\00:46:25.17 and on the scene of action 00:46:25.37\00:46:27.41 comes people willing to stand up for the Word of God. 00:46:29.40\00:46:32.87 Let me... let me just throw something out here, folks. 00:46:33.07\00:46:35.56 Sometimes 00:46:37.30\00:46:40.12 people in their zeal 00:46:40.32\00:46:44.52 don't use good sense. 00:46:44.72\00:46:48.65 They don't use good judgment. 00:46:50.10\00:46:51.94 And they're zealous for something 00:46:52.14\00:46:53.99 and they create more problems than they help. 00:46:54.19\00:46:58.34 Because as the Reformation gained... you see, 00:46:58.54\00:47:02.51 one of the first countries that really opened its doors 00:47:02.72\00:47:07.15 to the Reformation was France. 00:47:07.26\00:47:09.39 France opened her doors and people like Lefevre and Farel. 00:47:09.69\00:47:15.69 These men preached the Word of God and the king... 00:47:15.89\00:47:19.68 he kind of straddled the fence. 00:47:19.88\00:47:21.92 He wasn't... he didn't particularly stand up 00:47:22.13\00:47:24.84 for the Reformation but at the same time 00:47:25.04\00:47:26.83 he didn't really tell the papacy to get lost. 00:47:27.03\00:47:30.32 He just kind of straddled the fence. 00:47:30.52\00:47:32.79 But his wife, Margaret... she was very much in favor 00:47:32.99\00:47:36.49 of the Reformation, and she favored it. 00:47:36.59\00:47:38.36 So the Reformation in France was given freedom 00:47:38.56\00:47:42.50 to do some things. And these men went out and they preached 00:47:42.60\00:47:45.31 and many, many people... 00:47:45.51\00:47:46.97 In fact, the king even let them have a chapel right there in the 00:47:47.17\00:47:50.91 palace where people were invited in and they... 00:47:51.11\00:47:53.57 they preached to them. And the Word of God grew 00:47:53.77\00:47:56.02 with great rapidity and all. 00:47:56.12\00:47:58.22 But some people in their zealous 00:47:59.84\00:48:04.28 do things they shouldn't do. 00:48:04.48\00:48:06.53 And one of the men who stood up for the Word of God 00:48:06.83\00:48:12.08 was a great, great man. 00:48:12.28\00:48:14.06 Was a man by the name of Lequin. 00:48:14.26\00:48:16.83 Lequin was of noble birth. 00:48:17.03\00:48:20.60 A tremendous scholar. 00:48:20.80\00:48:23.18 Great orator; great power. 00:48:23.38\00:48:26.20 In fact, Rome feared Lequin more than they feared Luther 00:48:26.40\00:48:31.22 because he was so strong. 00:48:31.32\00:48:34.53 And they said: "He'll do more damage to us 00:48:34.73\00:48:37.91 than Luther would have ever done. " 00:48:38.11\00:48:39.44 They arrested him three times and threw him in jail, 00:48:39.65\00:48:43.57 and three times the king released him. 00:48:43.77\00:48:46.07 But the king who just straddled the fence all the time 00:48:47.05\00:48:52.95 felt the pressure of the papal power. 00:48:53.15\00:48:57.39 And so conveniently he left town one day 00:48:57.59\00:49:02.10 and the delegates or the leaders of the church 00:49:02.30\00:49:07.79 arrested Lequin. They arrested him that day, 00:49:07.99\00:49:12.56 they tried him that day, 00:49:12.76\00:49:15.00 and they killed him that day. 00:49:15.20\00:49:17.08 Brought an end to him. 00:49:17.28\00:49:21.20 And out of all this zeal 00:49:21.40\00:49:24.17 some dear souls in their zeal went and tore down 00:49:24.38\00:49:30.31 one of the statues of the virgin. 00:49:30.52\00:49:33.78 Well, this brought great indignation on the part of many 00:49:33.98\00:49:37.40 people and on the part of the king. 00:49:37.50\00:49:39.06 And then another one not having enough sense to 00:49:39.26\00:49:43.55 know how to relate went and they printed up a plaquard 00:49:43.76\00:49:49.51 against the mass. 00:49:49.71\00:49:52.26 They went and they nailed it on the king's door. 00:49:52.46\00:49:54.92 Made him so mad that he turned against the Reformation. 00:49:55.12\00:49:59.35 And he went out, and they got one of the reformers 00:50:00.67\00:50:06.67 to turn informant. 00:50:06.87\00:50:09.52 And they walked down the streets of Paris, 00:50:09.72\00:50:12.49 and that man pointed to the homes of the people that 00:50:12.69\00:50:16.97 were for the Reformation. 00:50:17.17\00:50:18.20 And they gathered them and they brought them out. 00:50:18.41\00:50:23.19 And they crucified them, and burned them at the stake, 00:50:23.39\00:50:26.34 and killed them. 00:50:26.54\00:50:27.80 By the hundreds, thousands died. 00:50:28.00\00:50:31.70 Whole thing began to change. France... 00:50:34.86\00:50:37.53 who had opened her doors to the Reformation... 00:50:37.63\00:50:40.48 all of a sudden slammed them shut. 00:50:40.68\00:50:44.02 Now there was one young man that was still very much 00:50:44.22\00:50:48.21 trying to help France. 00:50:48.31\00:50:50.46 At this time, Luther now has appeared on the scene of action 00:50:50.66\00:50:54.87 and has nailed the 95 Theses to the door of the church 00:50:55.07\00:50:57.95 at Wittenberg and is beginning to preach. 00:50:58.05\00:51:00.49 And fortunately, Luther found a 00:51:00.67\00:51:05.85 friend in Frederick, 00:51:05.95\00:51:08.38 and he was able to hold back some of the papal power 00:51:08.66\00:51:14.60 to keep them from taking his life. 00:51:14.80\00:51:16.84 Luther preached. His word began to circulate 00:51:18.37\00:51:21.70 and people began to accept it. 00:51:21.80\00:51:23.42 Then along came a man by the name of John Calvin. 00:51:23.62\00:51:27.68 Calvin: a very shy young man... 00:51:27.88\00:51:32.70 but he began to work in France. 00:51:32.90\00:51:34.83 Was literally finally driven from France. 00:51:35.03\00:51:38.52 Went out and preached; brought about a great Reformation. 00:51:38.55\00:51:43.38 Thousands of people accepted the message because of 00:51:43.58\00:51:47.57 John Calvin. 00:51:47.77\00:51:49.72 Then the princes of Europe stood up 00:51:49.92\00:51:52.87 and they, the princes of Germany stood up and said 00:51:53.07\00:51:56.61 "We will no longer be dictated to. Our conscience will be free. 00:51:56.81\00:52:00.29 We will read the Word of God and follow it as we understand it. " 00:52:00.49\00:52:03.82 And what I'm trying to tell you is the persecution 00:52:04.02\00:52:07.69 began to fall off. 00:52:07.89\00:52:10.03 Began to come to an end. 00:52:10.23\00:52:12.01 In France, Napoleon has come to power. 00:52:13.53\00:52:18.79 Napoleon wants to rule Europe, 00:52:18.99\00:52:23.28 but he knows that he cannot do it unless he breaks the back 00:52:23.48\00:52:28.77 of the papal power. 00:52:28.97\00:52:30.93 And so, 1798 AD, 00:52:31.14\00:52:35.25 just exactly as it was prophesied, 00:52:35.45\00:52:37.87 Berthier made his entrance into Rome 00:52:38.07\00:52:41.76 abolished the papal government, 00:52:41.97\00:52:43.53 established a secular one. 00:52:43.73\00:52:45.48 And thus the years, 1,260 years 00:52:45.68\00:52:49.32 of persecution - of sackcloth - came to an end. 00:52:49.52\00:52:54.67 What did the scripture say? 00:52:54.87\00:52:58.77 When that 1,260 years came to an end, 00:52:58.97\00:53:03.62 these that had been prophesying in sackcloth 00:53:03.82\00:53:07.98 something would happen to them. 00:53:08.18\00:53:10.74 And that's what our next presentation's about. 00:53:26.07\00:53:29.20 This beast that's going to rise up, 00:53:29.40\00:53:34.61 kill these two witnesses and put an end to them. 00:53:34.82\00:53:39.01 That's what we want to take a look at 00:53:39.21\00:53:41.20 as we talk about the two witnesses that will lie dead 00:53:41.40\00:53:45.90 in the street for 3-1/2 years, 00:53:46.10\00:53:50.25 will not be buried, 00:53:50.46\00:53:53.10 and will come back to life. 00:53:53.30\00:53:55.25 So we hope that each of you will be back with us 00:53:55.45\00:53:57.89 as we talk about The Beast from the Bottomless Pit. 00:53:58.09\00:54:00.89 Let us pray. 00:54:01.09\00:54:02.14 Heavenly Father, we thank you. 00:54:02.34\00:54:05.32 Thank you for Your Word 00:54:05.52\00:54:08.44 that's a light to each one of us. 00:54:08.64\00:54:12.14 May we follow it. 00:54:12.44\00:54:15.86 May our hearts be open to it. 00:54:16.07\00:54:19.11 May we be willing day by day to spend time 00:54:19.31\00:54:26.02 in Your Word that we might each one 00:54:26.15\00:54:29.16 prepare our lives for the coming of the Lord 00:54:29.36\00:54:32.97 as we realize how quickly time is passing. 00:54:33.07\00:54:37.18 Thank you for Jesus; for His goodness to each of us. 00:54:37.38\00:54:41.32 This we ask in His name, Amen. 00:54:41.52\00:54:44.25 May God bless you. Have a good night. 00:54:44.45\00:54:47.52 Stay close to Jesus Christ. 00:54:47.72\00:54:50.68 He's coming very, very soon. 00:54:50.71\00:54:54.38 A coal miner of old 00:54:57.05\00:54:58.33 would leave his family every day 00:54:58.53\00:55:00.39 and descend into the depths of the earth 00:55:00.59\00:55:02.52 with the certain knowledge that the smallest mistake 00:55:02.72\00:55:06.19 could keep him and others from ever seeing daylight again. 00:55:06.39\00:55:09.57 Walking along in the dark, 00:55:09.77\00:55:11.50 he could only rely upon his feeble oil lamp 00:55:11.70\00:55:15.39 to keep him alive. 00:55:15.59\00:55:17.00 He faced many dangers down there. 00:55:17.20\00:55:18.88 Rockfalls, flooding, fires. 00:55:19.08\00:55:22.32 But perhaps the danger he feared the most 00:55:22.52\00:55:25.43 was the one that he could not see. 00:55:25.63\00:55:27.76 They called it chokedamp or blackdamp: 00:55:27.96\00:55:31.13 an unbreathable mixture of gases 00:55:31.33\00:55:33.86 that could quickly snuff out his life. 00:55:34.06\00:55:36.38 Imagine for a moment the terror he felt when he realized 00:55:36.58\00:55:40.28 he had hit a pocket of blackdamp. 00:55:40.48\00:55:42.57 The sudden drop in oxygen would put out his lamp 00:55:42.77\00:55:46.03 leaving him in terrifying darkness, fumbling in vain 00:55:46.23\00:55:50.29 to relight it before he lost consciousness. 00:55:50.49\00:55:53.40 Then in the late 1800's, 00:55:53.70\00:55:56.82 a bright new light began to shine in the dark world. 00:55:57.02\00:56:00.84 Using marble-sized pellets of calcium carbide 00:56:01.04\00:56:05.05 and a few drops of water, 00:56:05.18\00:56:06.71 this new lamp produced a gas which burned six times brighter. 00:56:06.95\00:56:11.43 Not only did it make his job a whole lot easier 00:56:11.63\00:56:14.41 but it also saved lives. 00:56:14.61\00:56:16.72 You can see this tiny reflector 00:56:16.92\00:56:19.34 could focus that beam of light 00:56:19.54\00:56:21.40 on the roof of a mine so that he could detect dangerous cracks. 00:56:21.60\00:56:25.56 The lamp was also easy to re-light. 00:56:25.76\00:56:28.25 And since it required far less oxygen, 00:56:28.45\00:56:31.14 it could illuminate the way out 00:56:31.34\00:56:33.43 should they encounter the chokedamp. 00:56:33.63\00:56:35.85 What an incredible illustration this is 00:56:36.05\00:56:39.28 of the condition of fallen man. 00:56:39.48\00:56:41.62 After struggling to survive the pitfalls of life, 00:56:41.82\00:56:44.61 he suddenly realizes the danger he could not see 00:56:44.81\00:56:48.28 had left him without hope and gasping for his last breath 00:56:48.48\00:56:52.80 in utter spiritual darkness. 00:56:53.00\00:56:55.24 For him there is no eternal life through Jesus. 00:56:55.44\00:56:59.04 In fact, he may not have ever heard about Him. 00:56:59.24\00:57:02.57 But friends, just as that bright light 00:57:04.58\00:57:07.42 of the carbide lamp saved lives, 00:57:07.62\00:57:10.15 so does the light of the Bible. 00:57:10.35\00:57:12.36 We need the light of God's Word to illuminate the dark corners 00:57:12.56\00:57:16.36 of our hearts. It focuses our attention on Jesus Christ... 00:57:16.56\00:57:20.10 our only hope for salvation. 00:57:20.30\00:57:22.46 And all who read and study it 00:57:22.66\00:57:24.46 are warned about the rockfalls of life. 00:57:24.66\00:57:27.67 That's why we call this series Give Me The Bible. 00:57:27.87\00:57:31.46 We're trying our best to bring the light of God's truth 00:57:31.66\00:57:34.55 to those who are living and dying in despair. 00:57:34.75\00:57:37.72 It's our mission. It's our passion. 00:57:37.75\00:57:40.42 Won't you join us? 00:57:40.62\00:57:41.91 Please consider what you can do 00:57:43.78\00:57:45.56 for those who still don't know about Jesus. 00:57:45.66\00:57:48.03 As the Holy Spirit impresses, 00:57:48.23\00:57:50.21 you may send your tax-deductible gifts to: 00:57:50.41\00:57:52.56 Thank you for helping us to bring the Blessed Hope 00:58:04.55\00:58:06.79 to millions all around the world. 00:58:07.03\00:58:10.05
