Welcome back to Frankfurt, Germany. 00:00:08.67\00:00:10.41 And more specifically, to the old center of Frankfurt. 00:00:10.44\00:00:15.04 There are buildings here that date back to the 14th century. 00:00:15.08\00:00:18.85 Of course, many were destroyed 00:00:18.88\00:00:20.22 during the Second World War and rebuilt. 00:00:20.25\00:00:23.05 And the name of this area is called Romerberg, 00:00:23.08\00:00:25.62 which refers back to the Roman settlements, 00:00:25.65\00:00:28.02 the original settlements in this area. 00:00:28.06\00:00:30.46 In fact, there are still remains till this very day. 00:00:30.49\00:00:33.43 Next up, we travel to Moscow to a unique mission project. 00:00:33.46\00:00:37.37 It is a walking project. 00:00:37.40\00:00:40.04 With mission to the cities, 00:00:40.07\00:00:41.90 that is Christ's invitation for all of us 00:00:41.94\00:00:44.94 as believers and followers of Him 00:00:44.97\00:00:47.91 to engage and to use every talent 00:00:47.94\00:00:51.95 or imagination to then impact urban areas. 00:00:51.98\00:00:54.95 I'm here with Mikhail Kaminskiy, 00:00:54.98\00:00:57.02 and he is the president of Euro-Asia division. 00:00:57.05\00:00:59.95 Thanks for being with us today. 00:00:59.99\00:01:01.32 Thank you for inviting. 00:01:01.36\00:01:03.32 I was just interested 00:01:03.36\00:01:05.53 that one of your largest cities is Moscow, Russia. 00:01:05.56\00:01:09.40 And so, how large is that city? 00:01:09.43\00:01:12.77 We estimate that it has around 18 millions population, 00:01:12.80\00:01:17.21 because officially we have 14, 00:01:17.24\00:01:20.31 we have official two millions immigrants, 00:01:20.34\00:01:23.85 and I think who is known official people 00:01:23.88\00:01:26.92 who just come and leave without any registration 00:01:26.95\00:01:30.35 that we have from 16 to 18 million people 00:01:30.39\00:01:33.79 who is living everyday there. 00:01:33.82\00:01:35.29 Yeah. 00:01:35.32\00:01:36.66 And so, this is thrilling to hear that 00:01:36.69\00:01:39.39 you told me a story of one young adult, 00:01:39.43\00:01:42.36 and how she was doing something amazing 00:01:42.40\00:01:44.73 taking a hobby that she had, 00:01:44.77\00:01:46.70 and to organize the church family there in Russia. 00:01:46.74\00:01:52.01 Tell us about that story? 00:01:52.04\00:01:53.84 Now woman understand why Ellen G. White said 00:01:53.88\00:01:57.38 that the work of the Lord will be finished by young people. 00:01:57.41\00:02:01.98 They dream a lot and beside of that, 00:02:02.02\00:02:05.59 they have enough strength 00:02:05.62\00:02:06.96 to fulfill their dreams like this young lady. 00:02:06.99\00:02:11.13 When she heard a call of the pastor 00:02:11.16\00:02:14.56 to do something for the Lord, she said, 00:02:14.60\00:02:18.13 "Why not to do what I like to do for myself?" 00:02:18.17\00:02:23.97 And her hobby, as you said is Nordic walking 00:02:24.01\00:02:28.21 or is known Scandinavian walking. 00:02:28.24\00:02:33.28 This is the same like skiing at 00:02:33.31\00:02:37.85 or during the winter time, 00:02:37.89\00:02:40.56 but without the skis, but still using their sticks. 00:02:40.59\00:02:45.26 Right, the ski poles, right? 00:02:45.29\00:02:46.63 Ski poles. 00:02:46.66\00:02:48.60 It's provide people now stability, 00:02:48.63\00:02:51.73 very easily to walk and in the same time 00:02:51.77\00:02:56.27 to have the healthy nourishment of their bodies because, 00:02:56.30\00:03:02.61 while they are walking, all of their muscles, 00:03:02.64\00:03:05.41 they start to work. 00:03:05.45\00:03:08.02 And because in Russia for example, 00:03:08.05\00:03:11.15 and also in Ukraine, and other countries 00:03:11.19\00:03:14.42 of our Union Western part of our division 00:03:14.46\00:03:18.46 has from six to eight months of winter. 00:03:18.49\00:03:23.00 They used to use a skiing for their exercising 00:03:23.03\00:03:29.00 during the winter. 00:03:29.04\00:03:30.37 Therefore, when winter is finished, 00:03:30.41\00:03:31.91 they continue to use the same style of life. 00:03:31.94\00:03:36.75 Well, that's thrilling of how this young adult 00:03:36.78\00:03:39.11 is using her hobby of a Nordic walking 00:03:39.15\00:03:42.45 or this cross-country skiing to impact her city. 00:03:42.48\00:03:46.42 But how has she organized that? 00:03:46.45\00:03:48.62 Because it's one thing just to, you know, 00:03:48.66\00:03:50.39 I'm just one member, this is one young adult. 00:03:50.43\00:03:52.76 And you know, I'd love to do exercise 00:03:52.79\00:03:55.73 and I'd love to do my hobbies, 00:03:55.76\00:03:57.67 but how did she organize it to impact the city of Moscow? 00:03:57.70\00:04:01.20 Yeah, it was one moment in her, 00:04:01.24\00:04:05.51 I think the prime moment when she come to the idea, 00:04:05.54\00:04:09.54 and after that she shared to his pastor, 00:04:09.58\00:04:11.78 that she would like to go out only from the church walls. 00:04:11.81\00:04:16.18 And to organize the groups over the Nordic walking 00:04:16.22\00:04:20.32 in each park over the Moscow. 00:04:20.36\00:04:23.46 Now, how many parks does Moscow have? 00:04:23.49\00:04:26.39 Because Moscow is very big city, 00:04:26.43\00:04:28.56 and we have only five international airports, 00:04:28.60\00:04:31.57 can imagine how many parks. 00:04:31.60\00:04:33.84 A hundreds of parks. 00:04:33.87\00:04:35.20 Hundreds of park, and her idea is 00:04:35.24\00:04:38.11 to establish a interesting groups of the Nordic walking 00:04:38.14\00:04:42.38 in each park over the city. 00:04:42.41\00:04:45.41 And her approach is 00:04:45.45\00:04:47.58 that she is coming to the church, 00:04:47.62\00:04:49.68 and she is announcing her ideas. 00:04:49.72\00:04:53.99 And in every congregation, there is a group of the people 00:04:54.02\00:04:58.43 who is very interesting in such of the activities. 00:04:58.46\00:05:02.36 It's very easy, 00:05:02.40\00:05:03.73 it's not require any theological background. 00:05:03.77\00:05:07.47 And they're gathering 00:05:07.50\00:05:10.04 one day a week in the location. 00:05:10.07\00:05:15.48 They appointing, inviting their friends, 00:05:15.51\00:05:19.21 and they start to walk. 00:05:19.25\00:05:20.62 Thank you so much, Pastor Mikhail Kaminskiy. 00:05:20.65\00:05:22.98 It's been thrilling to hear how one young adult in Moscow 00:05:23.02\00:05:26.62 in taking her talent and her passion, 00:05:26.65\00:05:29.32 and her hobby of Nordic walking has started these walking clubs 00:05:29.36\00:05:33.46 to then transform her city 00:05:33.50\00:05:35.56 there in Moscow, Russia and bring the gospel there. 00:05:35.60\00:05:38.83 You know, this just reminds me the story of the power 00:05:38.87\00:05:42.10 that each one of us that God has given in our hearts, 00:05:42.14\00:05:45.04 the power of imagination, the power of creativity. 00:05:45.07\00:05:47.94 And when God gives those things to us, 00:05:47.98\00:05:50.55 and we're able to use those and share with others, 00:05:50.58\00:05:53.75 we can actually transform not only our lives, 00:05:53.78\00:05:56.32 but also our neighborhoods and even cities. 00:05:56.35\00:05:58.82 And so this is thrilling. 00:05:58.85\00:06:00.19 So, Gary, I'm just so happy to hear this report 00:06:00.22\00:06:03.53 here from Moscow, Russia. 00:06:03.56\00:06:04.93 Now, back to you. 00:06:04.96\00:06:06.29 I hope you are enjoying 00:06:06.33\00:06:07.66 our tour of mission around the world. 00:06:07.70\00:06:09.70 Next up, the Nine Mile Church in Papua New Guinea. 00:06:09.73\00:06:13.57 Located nine miles from the center of the city, 00:06:21.44\00:06:23.91 the Nine Mile district was known as 00:06:23.95\00:06:26.01 one of the worst areas in Port Moresby, 00:06:26.05\00:06:28.18 Papua New Guinea. 00:06:28.22\00:06:30.19 But if you look closely, 00:06:30.22\00:06:31.62 you'll catch a glimpse of change, 00:06:31.65\00:06:33.62 progression and hope. 00:06:33.66\00:06:36.32 In this neighborhood, 00:06:36.36\00:06:37.69 a new Seventh-day Adventist Church 00:06:37.73\00:06:39.06 has brought a sense of pride to the Nine Mile Community. 00:06:39.09\00:06:42.93 This place has been 00:06:42.96\00:06:44.30 one of the worst places in the city. 00:06:44.33\00:06:46.74 Nobody liked to come here. 00:06:46.77\00:06:49.14 When they hear the name Nine Mile, 00:06:49.17\00:06:51.07 the feel wasn't going to their hearts. 00:06:51.11\00:06:53.88 But then, we as a leaders, we have to come together, 00:06:53.91\00:06:57.41 we have to pray. 00:06:57.45\00:06:59.08 And then, you know, those times, 00:06:59.11\00:07:00.75 our wives and children, 00:07:00.78\00:07:02.22 girls should, they never walked freely, 00:07:02.25\00:07:05.35 come to church to. 00:07:05.39\00:07:07.16 Even sometimes, they had stepped here. 00:07:07.19\00:07:09.66 Some people arrive 00:07:09.69\00:07:11.03 and kill in our own church and ground too. 00:07:11.06\00:07:14.13 But this has changed. 00:07:14.16\00:07:16.13 And that way, God has blessed us a lot. 00:07:16.16\00:07:18.93 Now, we can see our wives and children, 00:07:18.97\00:07:21.80 they walk freely for nightly programs. 00:07:21.84\00:07:25.57 The current Adventist Church is overflowing 00:07:25.61\00:07:27.81 and cannot fit more people. 00:07:27.84\00:07:29.91 Church leaders like Vincent 00:07:29.94\00:07:32.08 have a heart for the people here. 00:07:32.11\00:07:34.48 Vincent is a successful real estate agent, 00:07:34.52\00:07:37.09 who is very involved in the church's activities. 00:07:37.12\00:07:40.22 As the new Nine Mile 00:07:40.26\00:07:41.66 Seventh-day Adventist Church is constructed, 00:07:41.69\00:07:44.13 church leaders like Vincent go into the community 00:07:44.16\00:07:47.10 to get to know the people who live here. 00:07:47.13\00:07:49.63 He talks with the people, gives them Bible studies, 00:07:49.66\00:07:52.40 and finds out what needs they might have. 00:07:52.43\00:07:54.80 There are many, very, many poor people around here. 00:07:54.84\00:07:58.54 Even though our country is rich, 00:07:58.57\00:08:00.61 but we have many poor people around here. 00:08:00.64\00:08:02.94 So we need to go out and many people, 00:08:02.98\00:08:04.95 they don't know about Jesus. 00:08:04.98\00:08:07.25 Although many of the church members have low incomes, 00:08:07.28\00:08:09.78 they work hard and save to give to the church building project. 00:08:09.82\00:08:13.76 The new church's presence 00:08:13.79\00:08:15.49 has already attracted the members of the community 00:08:15.52\00:08:17.79 to ask questions about the Adventist faith. 00:08:17.83\00:08:20.80 When we build a church, a big church like this, 00:08:20.83\00:08:22.93 in the center of our settlement like this, 00:08:22.96\00:08:24.97 we know that we will reach out to them. 00:08:25.00\00:08:27.20 And tell the truth 'cause Jesus will come very soon. 00:08:27.24\00:08:31.47 This new church will hold more than 1,000 people. 00:08:31.51\00:08:35.21 One of the people who will be attending 00:08:35.24\00:08:36.91 this new church is Jack. 00:08:36.95\00:08:39.45 Not long ago, Jack's brother was very sick. 00:08:39.48\00:08:43.08 He had been studying the Bible with Adventist, 00:08:43.12\00:08:45.22 and decided he wanted to be baptized. 00:08:45.25\00:08:47.62 Jack's brother was too sick to go to the church. 00:08:47.66\00:08:50.69 So, the members rolled a water tank to his house. 00:08:50.73\00:08:53.80 Jack had been thinking about the Sabbath issue for sometime. 00:08:53.83\00:08:57.70 As he saw his brother being baptized, 00:08:57.73\00:09:00.17 he decided he also wanted to become an Adventist. 00:09:00.20\00:09:03.74 Jack was baptized in this 00:09:03.77\00:09:05.97 portable water tank outside of his home, 00:09:06.01\00:09:08.14 and he is contributing greatly to the new building project. 00:09:08.18\00:09:11.21 The Nine Mile Church has already made 00:09:11.25\00:09:13.15 a huge splash in this community through their actions. 00:09:13.18\00:09:16.79 When the new building is completed, 00:09:16.82\00:09:18.39 it will be able to accommodate every one 00:09:18.42\00:09:20.52 who wants to worship with them on Sabbath. 00:09:20.56\00:09:23.39 Please pray for construction of this new church building. 00:09:23.43\00:09:26.59 And pray for the members of this church 00:09:26.63\00:09:28.40 as they continue to share God's beautiful message. 00:09:28.43\00:09:32.63 Big problem in New Guinea, 00:09:32.67\00:09:34.24 they really need to know more about Jesus. 00:09:34.27\00:09:37.54 That's why we want to ask the world to pray for us, 00:09:37.57\00:09:40.28 so that all our neighboring communities here 00:09:40.31\00:09:43.08 will know about Jesus. 00:09:43.11\00:09:44.61 Well, that's about it for today's program 00:09:55.12\00:09:57.13 and I hope that you've been challenged and inspired 00:09:57.16\00:10:00.33 by what you've seen and heard. 00:10:00.36\00:10:01.70 As we have seen mission in action 00:10:01.73\00:10:03.90 in various parts of the world, 00:10:03.93\00:10:06.13 from big cities such as 00:10:06.17\00:10:07.67 Moscow to Frankfurt to more remote areas, 00:10:07.70\00:10:11.91 Papua New Guinea and the Amazon. 00:10:11.94\00:10:14.48 The light of God's love 00:10:14.51\00:10:15.84 is being shown in practical ways by men and women, 00:10:15.88\00:10:19.38 who've taken the gospel commission seriously 00:10:19.41\00:10:23.05 and are working on the frontlines of mission. 00:10:23.08\00:10:25.52 I want to thank you so much for your continuing support 00:10:25.55\00:10:27.92 of Adventist mission through your prayers, 00:10:27.96\00:10:30.99 through your financial support 00:10:31.03\00:10:32.93 and through your personal involvement. 00:10:32.96\00:10:35.30 Before we go, I would like to offer you a small free gift. 00:10:35.33\00:10:38.10 It's a Adventist Mission carry bag, a tote bag. 00:10:38.13\00:10:41.87 And as you carry this for your shopping, 00:10:41.90\00:10:43.71 carrying your books, whatever, 00:10:43.74\00:10:45.31 just a little reminder about the importance of mission. 00:10:45.34\00:10:49.21 Well, for Adventist Mission, I'm Gary
