When Martin Luther nailed his 95 theses 00:00:11.17\00:00:14.51 to the church door in Wittenberg, 00:00:14.54\00:00:16.88 he came here to Heidelberg for a formal disputation. 00:00:16.91\00:00:20.98 There were hopes that he will be silenced. 00:00:21.02\00:00:23.28 But instead, he watered the seeds 00:00:23.32\00:00:25.89 for the Protestant Reformation. 00:00:25.92\00:00:27.76 On today's program, we'll walk the streets 00:00:27.79\00:00:30.33 that Martin Luther walked. 00:00:30.36\00:00:31.93 But more importantly, we will be seeing his message, 00:00:31.96\00:00:35.33 the gospel message spread throughout the world. 00:00:35.36\00:00:38.17 Just before He went up to heaven, 00:00:42.57\00:00:45.04 Jesus gave us a command. 00:00:45.07\00:00:48.04 He gave us a mission. 00:00:48.08\00:00:50.75 Jesus said "Go, 00:00:50.78\00:00:53.21 go unto all the world telling them of His love." 00:00:53.25\00:00:58.15 This is our mission. This is our Global Mission. 00:00:58.19\00:01:02.12 Hello, I'm Gary Krause, 00:01:07.90\00:01:09.23 and welcome to Global Mission Snapshots, 00:01:09.26\00:01:11.13 coming to you today from the historic 00:01:11.17\00:01:13.64 and the beautiful city of Heidelberg, Germany. 00:01:13.67\00:01:17.67 In this city, so many things 00:01:17.71\00:01:19.04 have happened through the years. 00:01:19.07\00:01:20.41 But my favorite story is the story of Martin Luther, 00:01:20.44\00:01:23.88 and of course the Protestant Reformation 00:01:23.91\00:01:26.28 that played an important role in this city. 00:01:26.31\00:01:29.65 Martin Luther was not a perfect man. 00:01:29.68\00:01:31.65 But he took God's words seriously 00:01:31.69\00:01:33.59 and he was prepared to lay his life 00:01:33.62\00:01:35.52 on the line because of it. 00:01:35.56\00:01:37.53 And today, the rays of truth 00:01:37.56\00:01:39.56 that spread from the Protestant Reformation 00:01:39.59\00:01:42.83 are still going out to the ends of the earth, 00:01:42.86\00:01:45.70 even to Papua New Guinea 00:01:45.73\00:01:47.17 where we're going next for our first story. 00:01:47.20\00:01:49.47 My biggest aim is to help people change their live 00:01:57.98\00:02:01.25 economically, socially, and spiritually 00:02:01.28\00:02:04.12 so they're ready when the Lord comes. 00:02:04.15\00:02:07.79 In Papua New Guinea, villagers depend on growing crops 00:02:07.82\00:02:11.19 and raising animals as a source of income. 00:02:11.23\00:02:13.83 They will often find 00:02:13.86\00:02:15.20 that there is not much income to live on. 00:02:15.23\00:02:17.27 A lot of the younger working generation 00:02:17.30\00:02:19.03 decide to move to the cities 00:02:19.07\00:02:20.74 to find better paying job opportunities 00:02:20.77\00:02:23.27 leaving the older generation to work in the villages. 00:02:23.30\00:02:27.51 Adventist church member, Brother John, 00:02:27.54\00:02:29.74 takes it upon himself to visit villages 00:02:29.78\00:02:32.01 and educate them on how they can thrive 00:02:32.05\00:02:34.08 in the village environment. 00:02:34.12\00:02:35.82 He studied agriculture 00:02:35.85\00:02:37.29 at a prestigious agricultural school in Japan. 00:02:37.32\00:02:41.49 He teaches them how to maximize their earnings 00:02:41.52\00:02:43.83 by sharing his formal education with them. 00:02:43.86\00:02:48.46 Some people get on me and say things like, 00:02:48.50\00:02:50.70 "You shouldn't give away a free service. 00:02:50.73\00:02:52.60 They should pay you for what you are giving them." 00:02:52.63\00:02:55.27 But when I hear that, I ask them, 00:02:55.30\00:02:57.67 "Did you pay for my school fee? 00:02:57.71\00:02:59.87 It is up to me how I use my knowledge to help others." 00:02:59.91\00:03:04.91 Brother John usually visits villages 00:03:04.95\00:03:06.88 with Adventist members as a gateway into the village. 00:03:06.92\00:03:09.62 And then welcomes everyone 00:03:09.65\00:03:10.99 in the village to join the lesson. 00:03:11.02\00:03:14.26 His visits begin with prayer and a short Bible lesson. 00:03:14.29\00:03:17.56 He teaches them practical skills 00:03:17.59\00:03:19.26 about how to do things 00:03:19.29\00:03:20.63 like how to make your own chicken feed, 00:03:20.66\00:03:22.46 or the best way to grow their crops. 00:03:22.50\00:03:25.73 The villagers get a hands-on demonstration 00:03:28.30\00:03:30.84 of how to perform the farming techniques. 00:03:30.87\00:03:33.78 These tangible skills allow the villagers 00:03:41.28\00:03:43.45 to earn more money 00:03:43.49\00:03:44.82 and improve the quality of their lives. 00:03:44.85\00:03:46.99 Brother John explains how their jobs 00:03:47.02\00:03:48.86 are very important to the country's economy. 00:03:48.89\00:03:52.06 With this knowledge, 00:03:52.09\00:03:53.43 the villagers feel more confident 00:03:53.46\00:03:55.10 and excited about doing their jobs. 00:03:55.13\00:03:58.33 That's why I am so happy that I can be involved 00:03:58.37\00:04:01.24 and go places to train others. 00:04:01.27\00:04:03.41 When they're satisfied, I'm satisfied. 00:04:03.44\00:04:06.91 Brother John's approach not only encourages 00:04:06.94\00:04:09.41 the church members in the village, 00:04:09.44\00:04:10.95 but also shows others that he cares about them. 00:04:10.98\00:04:13.92 He is doing his best to follow the example 00:04:13.95\00:04:16.32 Christ modeled for us when He was on the earth. 00:04:16.35\00:04:19.25 Through this ministry, 00:04:19.29\00:04:20.69 many people have felt the love of Jesus. 00:04:20.72\00:04:23.93 The churches are growing in the villages 00:04:23.96\00:04:25.69 that Brother John has visited. 00:04:25.73\00:04:27.56 Since the villagers are making more money 00:04:27.60\00:04:29.50 by using Brother John's farming techniques, 00:04:29.53\00:04:31.87 church members are also giving 00:04:31.90\00:04:33.27 more to support their church and mission offerings. 00:04:33.30\00:04:37.17 I have realized that the tithes 00:04:37.21\00:04:38.74 and offerings have gone up in all the districts. 00:04:38.77\00:04:42.18 Please pray for Brother John 00:04:42.21\00:04:44.05 as he continues to volunteer his time to share his knowledge 00:04:44.08\00:04:47.48 with the villagers of Papua New Guinea. 00:04:47.52\00:04:50.09 Pray that he can continue to model Christ method 00:04:50.12\00:04:52.95 and spread the message of Jesus. 00:04:52.99\00:04:55.82 Thank you for supporting mission. 00:04:55.86\00:04:58.69 My guest is Pastor Corrado Cozzi, 00:05:03.43\00:05:05.53 who is the communication director 00:05:05.57\00:05:07.74 for the Seventh-day Adventist Church 00:05:07.77\00:05:09.44 in the Inter-European region. 00:05:09.47\00:05:11.51 Corrado, thanks for joining us. 00:05:11.54\00:05:13.04 Prego.
