to make them better doctors
or better humanitarian workers

and that's the
professionals skills

but we are there together

What does it mean
to be a missionary.

And even if you're
skilled doctor in this culture

you have to do it differently
in a difficult culture.

The task will be

of thing it's different.

in a new culture
can be a challenge.

Now you have three
major areas that you summarize

in terms of teaching
people to a cross-cultural.

What are those three areas?

Yeah, well, we
always tell missionaries

that the three
most important things

they need to be
or to do to have is

to be adaptable,
adaptable and adaptable.

So adaptability is
very important thing

but we have five, five
areas that we actually emphasize

they are kind of
objectives for our training.

The first one is
that missionaries need

to be people who
are growing spiritually.

Unless you have been
impacted by the gospel

and growing in discipleship you
have little or nothing to share.

Second one is to be missionaries

who meet people who
are thinking biblically.

Everything we do needs
to be grounded on the Bible.

Thirdly, we need to a be
reasoning missiologically

that is as a missionary as-

that's kind of
the anthropological

look at these
people in these contexts.

How do we, how do we meet them?

Fourthly, we need to be people
who are living holistically.

In our family life, our
interpersonal relationships,

our physical health
and so on holistic people.

the whole goal of this is

are concerned when we talk

about how we have to adapt

different circumstances.

I think we're talking about

understand what we say

different language group

so that a word can be mean
completely different things

depending on whether it's a
rising tone or falling tone.

And when English hymns
are translated into Thai

and just sung with English tunes

you can actually be
singing the song near,

the way the tune make its go

group that comes together

long serving missionary

part of cross-cultural conflict

the different types, ways

based on
different cultural norms.

And he suddenly put
his head in his hands

and started shaking his
head and I said you want

and he said, you know,
he said I have been doing-

I come from a indirect
culture but I've been yelling

at the people in
the culture I'm at.

I just so frustrated

between all the
cultural, you know, constraints

and the feeling of
overwork and so on.

got into a yelling mode

in an indirect culture.

He just realized and so
we got an email afterward

trying to change them
