many Global Mission Pioneers

in India first of all.

I made a stop in
one city by Calcutta

and we met about 20 to 30

just waiting for us there.

And I went out with one, one day

and a they just showed me
basically a day in the life.

I followed them
around for the day

and they showed me what they do,

meeting with people
holding Bible studies,

just knocking on doors
and starting a small group.

And I met another
Global Mission Pioneer

who and his wife near New Delhi

and it was really
cool because they had

a
transformation story basically.

His name was Pothiram
and he used to be a drunkard.

He used to drink heavily,
he used to mistreat his family,

he used to do all
kinds of terrible things

and so of course
this made his family,
00:01:45.71\00:01:48.12
his wife really sad.
00:01:48.15\00:01:50.13
They didn't know what to do

so one day his wife was
sitting in front of their house

and she was just crying.

She said what am I
gonna do now I don't know.

Where's my life going?

I have a husband
that's no good to me

and so a woman was walking by

and she noticed
and she stopped at

and to comfort her
and to talk to her.

And so she talked to her
and invited her to her home.

She brought
Pothiram's wife home with her

and she
introduced her to the husband

and husband asked
can we pray with you?

And so the wife said sure.

You know, she's
never really prayed,

this was a Christian family
that asked to pray with her.

She never really
prayed to Jesus before.

So they asked, can we
read something to you?

So they pulled out the
Bible read from the Bible

and Pothiram's
wife loved it so much

and she felt so
good after reading

and praying with them
she returned week after week.

And after, you
know, three or four weeks

the family gave
her a Bible of her own

and she was so
excited about that.

But the only problem
was she couldn't read.

She was a literate
so she had this Bible

which she was very happy to have

but she couldn't
do anything with it

except for flip
through the pages.

So one day her husband
Pothiram came home stumbling

and he had been drinking.

And she asked, can
you read this to me

because he could read.

She said he didn't
want to read it to her.

He said, no that's not
for me, I don't want to.

After some pleading
with him he finally agreed.

Okay, fine I'll
read one small portion.

So he started reading

and he read any
he couldn't stop.

The Bible- he described
to me this is him telling me,

he said the Bible was
clearing like the words

were so clear even
though he had been drinking.

The more he read, you know,
00:03:39.41\00:03:40.89
his thoughts were clearing
just from reading the Bible.

Is that right? Yeah
and it was really cool.

So night after night
they spent time together
00:03:46.41\00:03:49.01
reading from the
Bible and he decided,
00:03:49.04\00:03:53.05
you know, maybe this is
something I wanted to pursue
00:03:53.08\00:03:56.75
and maybe I can
start drinking less.

So he drank less, he read more

and Pothiram wife
invited him to the Bible study

that she had been attending.

He attended the Bible
study even with some hesitation,

you know, he still
wasn't 100 percent convinced.

But so he attended week
after week to the Bible study

and he was- after a
few weeks he was convinced,

you know, this word is true.

I want to follow the
Bible, I want to follow Jesus.

And he gave up drinking
completely any he turned in-

you know, he
was a different man.

He was not- he
didn't mistreat his family,

he wasn't drinking
and they decided together
00:04:33.76\00:04:37.06
as a family to be baptized into
Seventh-day Adventist Church.

And to go one step further
00:04:41.19\00:04:43.05
he wanted to totally leave
that his past like behind him.

So he said to the- to the pastor
00:04:47.50\00:04:50.40
that they've been meeting with

what can I do, you know,

to totally
dedicate my life to God?

And so the pastor told them

about how he can
share with others,

you know, what he has learned.

And so he eventually
became a Global Mission Pioneer

and that's where he is now on

and that's when I met him it
was at that stage of his life

and you can just
see the transformation

from where he started
and he- he's passionate.

He just loves
sharing about Jesus.

He loves going out
meeting with people

and he can hardly- him

That's nice.

Yeah, and they can't contain

on themselves from sharing
about Jesus with anybody.

meet with these Pioneers

first of all their homes

and their lives are just humble

lavish lifestyles,

not only the word of God

things that they have.

at the same socio-economic

really interesting about it

outside perspective.

visitors arriving by boat

Gateway of India.
