were going to do that.

away 50 one hundred dollar bills

up and challenged everybody

It's called the minivan for moms

and this one member just said

and he is got some

he is got to know one of the
single moms from our old church

and he says, she needs a new van
I'm gonna start that ministry.

And her old car
was just found apart,

it was gonna
need a bunch of work,

more work I think then
the car was even worth.

So, it was just nice to give
her a hand up at the right time.

call and they told me

that they are considering
upgrading me to a van

because I have really rundown
old vehicle and I said yes

Well, of course we
invited her to church

the day that we
presented her with the key

and here the next Sabbath,

she came to Sabbath
school we had invited her

and she said yeah, I'm gonna be
there and I talked to her again.

be there and I'm like okay,

she was there at
9:30 in the morning

and we just talked to her again.

because she has a little girl.

ministries on the community

and it seems to me that when
we look at Adventist Churches

and many Christian
churches in general

that we can easily get
into the mode of focusing

on our own needs keeping
the church members happy.

You are talking
about an outward focused,

Well, the philosophy is to
get the salt out of the shaker

and get it out and make a
difference in the community.

that as when I was pasturing

my people focused outward

Well, you know,
Hurricane Sandy was a big event

called the super storm
and we had four conferences,

the Greater New York
Conference, the Northeastern,

the New Jersey
and Allegheny East

along with some of the Tsunami
conferences even supported them

because that's what we
do we support each other.

And in disaster and in time
of disaster we don't stand alone

and they did tremendous things

and then the
tragedy in Newtown happened.

And of course they called us,

they had over 60,000
teddy bears that were donated.

People said, well
those are the people,

those kids need teddy bear

and so there is a emendation
of teddy bear and toys

and I mean like we have got
3,600 boxes of stuffed toys.

We have got school supply

of 500 to 600
boxes of school supplies,

got teachers in there to
organize and by age level.

And it has
really helped the town

so that they don't have
to deal with that tragedy

that happened in their town.

Why are we wasting
our time doing this one,

Well, you know the
thing is selfishly we need it.

about the compassion of people.

country in South-East Asia

time, during Pope Hart's time.

people were killed there

and so the country has a
real struggle coming back.

In the most recent visit you see

that there's been
tremendous changes,

they are much more
open to tourism now.

People are coming in,
people's life are improving.

So Cambodia is a country that's
been a very high interest to us

they had a number of churches

we visited and went
out to some of the areas

and I remember being in the
one where all we had was tarp

and a tarp on the ground because
the field is muddy underneath

and we sort of you know tiptoed
our way through to that tarp

and then took out our
shoes and sat in the tarp.

But wasn't great for
pictures because it makes

everybody look very blue
with the blue tarp over there.

many things over the years.

an orphanage and a school

tremendous contribution

But what I found fascinating
was they showed us pictures

of when they
first went out there

and the little house they lived

and it was just
a little tiny house

there were no trees,
you look at the campus now,

there are
beautiful trees giving shade.

When they started there
was virtually nothing there

and they turned
this little house

with no
electricity under the hot sun

and that dedication you
know, people who are willing

to go out there and give their

turn their lives over to God

Most of society feels that
