Russia and Japan, small groups, big cities 00:00:01.06\00:00:04.31 and the Apostle Paul's real profession 00:00:04.34\00:00:07.05 coming up next on Global Mission Snapshots. 00:00:07.08\00:00:10.35 Just before He went up to heaven Jesus gave us a command. 00:00:21.55\00:00:26.96 He gave us a mission. 00:00:26.99\00:00:29.81 Jesus said "Go, go unto all the world, 00:00:29.84\00:00:34.61 telling them of His love." 00:00:34.64\00:00:37.05 This is our mission. 00:00:37.08\00:00:38.91 This is our Global Mission. 00:00:38.94\00:00:41.74 Hello, I am Gary Krause 00:00:46.27\00:00:47.65 and welcome to Global Mission Snapshots 00:00:47.68\00:00:50.32 where we take you around the world 00:00:50.35\00:00:52.55 to experience mission in action. 00:00:52.58\00:00:55.33 On today's program, we'll meet to two little girls 00:00:55.36\00:00:57.64 who learning to trust God as they live with their parents 00:00:57.67\00:01:00.96 who are sharing God's love with people in Tokyo, Japan. 00:01:00.99\00:01:04.88 It's one of the world's most populated cities 00:01:04.91\00:01:07.57 and its home to some 13 million people. 00:01:07.60\00:01:10.93 Only two percent of Japan's population 00:01:10.96\00:01:12.96 consider themselves to be Christians. 00:01:12.99\00:01:15.65 We'll also be talking with Dr. Rick McEdward, 00:01:15.68\00:01:17.83 is the Director of the Global Mission Study Centers. 00:01:17.86\00:01:20.95 And he will talk about the Adventist churches plan 00:01:20.98\00:01:23.78 to bring mission to the great cities of the world. 00:01:23.81\00:01:27.27 Dr. Wagner Kuhn, associated professor of World Mission 00:01:27.30\00:01:31.00 at the Seventh-day Adventist Seminary 00:01:31.03\00:01:33.36 who will also join us to tell us 00:01:33.39\00:01:34.82 what the Apostle Paul's profession has 00:01:34.85\00:01:37.38 to do with mission today. 00:01:37.41\00:01:39.34 But first up, let's see how woman in Russia 00:01:39.37\00:01:42.22 is using her home to minister to a small group of people. 00:01:42.25\00:01:46.94 I have a friend, her name is Olesya 00:01:51.32\00:01:54.09 and she invited me to this group. 00:01:54.12\00:01:56.50 Some time ago my house was damaged in a fire, 00:02:00.35\00:02:03.32 and the church helped me rebuild part of it, 00:02:03.35\00:02:05.72 and I decided that I would like to have 00:02:05.75\00:02:07.25 this house dedicated to God and to serve Him. 00:02:07.28\00:02:10.20 So for the past year I have been inviting 00:02:10.23\00:02:12.01 a small group to come and meet in my house. 00:02:12.04\00:02:15.10 Olesya lives in the town of Krasnoyarsk, 00:02:16.75\00:02:20.46 deep in the heart of Siberia. 00:02:20.49\00:02:23.31 Life here can be cold, 00:02:23.34\00:02:25.44 and for the small number of Seventh-day Adventist 00:02:25.47\00:02:27.99 that make their homes here, 00:02:28.02\00:02:29.76 reaching out to others has not been easy. 00:02:29.79\00:02:32.91 But then a new approach was taken, 00:02:32.94\00:02:35.81 one that has proven to be successful. 00:02:35.84\00:02:38.97 At our church we were discussing ways 00:02:41.88\00:02:44.09 that we can share our love for God 00:02:44.12\00:02:45.82 and our friendship with others. 00:02:45.85\00:02:47.68 One of my friends suggested that we have a small group meeting. 00:02:47.71\00:02:50.98 Because of our group, now Ruslan and Margeurita 00:02:51.01\00:02:53.64 are the fruits of our meetings 00:02:53.67\00:02:55.08 and I am so happy that they have joined us. 00:02:55.11\00:02:57.91 Ruslan is the newest member of the group to join the church, 00:02:59.50\00:03:03.91 and he started attending the group for a specific reason. 00:03:03.94\00:03:07.95 I came to this group because they were studying the Bible. 00:03:10.06\00:03:13.26 Now God is my life and my friend. 00:03:13.29\00:03:16.86 Getting a small group established isn't an easy task, 00:03:16.89\00:03:20.93 so the group was thankful 00:03:20.96\00:03:22.49 for some help in the beginning. 00:03:22.52\00:03:25.02 When we started our group, our pastor, Vladimar, 00:03:27.47\00:03:30.33 joined us and it helped to get us going. 00:03:30.36\00:03:32.83 It was very helpful. 00:03:32.86\00:03:34.77 This group is successful because they are united: 00:03:37.42\00:03:40.50 and are like a family. 00:03:40.53\00:03:42.20 They help each other and I am sure 00:03:42.23\00:03:43.96 that if something were to happen to one of them, 00:03:43.99\00:03:46.23 the others would support them 00:03:46.26\00:03:48.13 and help each other grow spiritually. 00:03:48.16\00:03:51.09 The members of this group have been changed 00:03:51.12\00:03:53.87 through their new friendships, 00:03:53.90\00:03:55.62 as well as the continual study of the Holy Scriptures. 00:03:55.65\00:04:00.12 God has changed me a lot 00:04:02.26\00:04:03.84 because before I never used 00:04:03.87\00:04:05.27 to listen to other people's opinions. 00:04:05.30\00:04:07.59 I was selfish and everything was my way. 00:04:07.62\00:04:10.44 But when I went to church and got to know God, 00:04:10.47\00:04:13.20 I can now listen to people and consider their opinions. 00:04:13.23\00:04:18.02 Small group evangelism has proven to be successful 00:04:18.05\00:04:22.06 all over the world. 00:04:22.09\00:04:23.75 For many it is the best way to truly grow the church 00:04:23.78\00:04:28.09 and build strong congregations. 00:04:28.12\00:04:31.30 I am sure that this model of outreach 00:04:34.35\00:04:36.40 is one of the best ways to reach people 00:04:36.43\00:04:38.54 and grow as a church. 00:04:38.57\00:04:40.29 People become like a family 00:04:40.32\00:04:42.35 and their relationships help to unify the church. 00:04:42.38\00:04:46.34 The church members who started the small group 00:04:46.37\00:04:49.26 are happy that they have found a way 00:04:49.29\00:04:51.40 to reach out to those people in their community 00:04:51.43\00:04:53.70 who are searching for the truth. 00:04:53.73\00:04:56.17 For Ruslan and Margeurita, 00:04:56.20\00:04:58.68 their lives have been touched by people 00:04:58.71\00:05:01.10 who were willing to let them into their church family. 00:05:01.13\00:05:04.44 I am so happy that they have found the truth. 00:05:07.54\00:05:10.38 They both used to be different people 00:05:10.41\00:05:12.56 but now their lives have purpose. 00:05:12.59\00:05:14.75 I used to be the same way when I found my life changed. 00:05:14.78\00:05:20.20 Your mission offerings will provide a new church building 00:05:20.23\00:05:24.28 for the Seventh-day Adventist members in Krasnoyarsk. 00:05:24.31\00:05:27.98 Currently, they have to rent public buildings 00:05:28.01\00:05:30.99 so that their members can meet each Sabbath. 00:05:31.02\00:05:33.79 This new church will provide a stable place of worship 00:05:33.82\00:05:38.41 where they can invite their friends 00:05:38.44\00:05:39.96 and families to worship. 00:05:39.99\00:05:42.05 Please keep the members in Krasnoyarsk in your prayers 00:05:42.08\00:05:45.91 as you give your Mission Offerings this Sabbath. 00:05:45.94\00:05:49.90 It's my pleasure to welcome DR. Wagner Kuhn, 00:05:54.55\00:05:56.90 to our program. 00:05:56.93\00:05:58.34 Dr. Kuhn is at the Adventist Seminary 00:05:58.37\00:06:01.32 in Berrien Springs Michigan 00:06:01.35\00:06:02.91 in the department of World Mission. 00:06:02.94\00:06:05.27 Welcome, Wagner. Thank you. 00:06:05.30\00:06:07.01 What is that in-- involve you? 00:06:07.04\00:06:08.96 You work in the department of World Mission. 00:06:08.99\00:06:10.63 You teach, you research, what--tell us what you do? 00:06:10.66\00:06:13.85 Yes, most of it is-- involves teaching 00:06:13.88\00:06:17.14 but and also reaching as well and providing training 00:06:17.17\00:06:20.62 as church asks us to do. 00:06:20.65\00:06:22.71 Mostly you know going out and interacting with people 00:06:22.74\00:06:27.56 especially for example in a way 00:06:27.59\00:06:30.18 that you involve yourself into mission of God 00:06:30.21\00:06:33.93 and you share with those who are involved out there. 00:06:33.96\00:06:38.63 You know, not necessarily missionaries 00:06:38.66\00:06:40.90 or career missionaries but for example to make us. 00:06:40.93\00:06:43.97 Okay, which is the topic about conversation today 00:06:44.00\00:06:48.26 but before we get to that 00:06:48.29\00:06:49.88 you're from Brazil. Correct. 00:06:49.91\00:06:51.60 You worked in Central Asia, 00:06:51.63\00:06:53.03 you now working in North America. 00:06:53.06\00:06:54.50 Why is mission so important to you? 00:06:54.53\00:06:57.68 I think it is something of the heart, you know. 00:06:57.71\00:06:59.85 It's something that comes by being raised by parents 00:06:59.88\00:07:03.84 who instill new stories of missionaries 00:07:03.87\00:07:06.45 who told you many things about what God has done for you. 00:07:06.48\00:07:10.13 How good God is and what He asks you to do as well. 00:07:10.16\00:07:14.38 So you know this issues of is being a missionary 00:07:14.41\00:07:18.01 came from my parents I believe first in foremost. 00:07:18.04\00:07:21.16 Now you are not the only member of your family 00:07:21.19\00:07:23.26 who has served as a missionary. 00:07:23.29\00:07:24.72 Tells us a little bit about your wider family. 00:07:24.75\00:07:27.89 Well, my older brother Ron, 00:07:27.92\00:07:29.35 you know, he has worked in several countries from Africa, 00:07:29.38\00:07:33.86 South America, Asia, you know, North America 00:07:33.89\00:07:37.22 and he has serve most of his life for with ADRA. 00:07:37.25\00:07:40.88 Another brother of mine has served in Asia, in Mongolia, 00:07:40.91\00:07:46.03 back in South America and now he is again back in Mongolia. 00:07:46.06\00:07:50.15 So I have also served in Central Asia in Nakhchivan, 00:07:50.18\00:07:54.97 you know, the land of Noah. And I served Azerbaijan. 00:07:55.00\00:07:58.51 and I served in North America as well 00:07:58.54\00:08:01.57 with Institute of World Mission 00:08:01.60\00:08:03.02 now with the seminary the Missions Department. 00:08:03.05\00:08:05.88 So it is somehow a business of what God has done. Yeah. 00:08:05.91\00:08:11.70 In us, you know when I praise God 00:08:11.73\00:08:13.21 for that it is certainly a privilege. 00:08:13.24\00:08:15.45 That's wonderful. 00:08:15.48\00:08:16.74 Now we're talking about tent making 00:08:16.77\00:08:19.31 and this goes back to the Apostle Paul. 00:08:19.34\00:08:22.01 What it was the connection there? 00:08:22.04\00:08:23.76 You know, it seems that the Apostle Paul 00:08:23.79\00:08:26.08 comes to Corinth, 00:08:26.11\00:08:28.10 you know, in Acts 8--Acts 18 00:08:28.13\00:08:31.64 and he partners up with Aquila and Priscilla 00:08:31.67\00:08:34.66 and for a close to two years. 00:08:34.69\00:08:36.72 He is a tentmaker, you know, building tents 00:08:36.75\00:08:39.13 actually with the his own hands. 00:08:39.16\00:08:41.66 And as he's done that in that trade 00:08:41.69\00:08:44.92 he shares the gospel. 00:08:44.95\00:08:47.46 Okay, so when we now move it to the 21 Century, 00:08:47.49\00:08:52.41 what is tentmaker it today? 00:08:52.44\00:08:54.11 Well, I think it is doctor, an architect, 00:08:54.14\00:08:57.54 an engineer, a nurse, a truck driver 00:08:57.57\00:09:01.54 anyone who finds access in his own profession, 00:09:01.57\00:09:06.16 you know, access to these in the restricted access country 00:09:06.19\00:09:09.80 and mostly, you know, we're talking about tentmakers 00:09:09.83\00:09:13.53 in certain places 00:09:13.56\00:09:15.08 where you cannot normally go as a missionary 00:09:15.11\00:09:17.59 or as pastor but you go through your profession 00:09:17.62\00:09:21.73 and developing that profession with that skills 00:09:21.76\00:09:24.88 you intentionally aim at witnessing for Jesus 00:09:24.91\00:09:28.83 and making disciples and possibly planting churches 00:09:28.86\00:09:32.07 or growing church. 00:09:32.10\00:09:33.66 Now as part of your work 00:09:33.69\00:09:36.12 you often travel to some of these areas to encourage, 00:09:36.15\00:09:39.02 to help train these tentmakers who are out there. 00:09:39.05\00:09:42.18 Tells us a little bit about what you do? 00:09:42.21\00:09:44.65 For example, we go to certain places 00:09:44.68\00:09:46.92 and we find ourselves involved into meeting church members 00:09:46.95\00:09:52.28 those who are for example Seventh-day Adventist 00:09:52.31\00:09:55.15 already leaving in those countries 00:09:55.18\00:09:57.97 and you know professionals of all kinds of skills, 00:09:58.00\00:10:02.40 you know, as I mentioned doctors, 00:10:02.43\00:10:04.26 nurses, you have engineers, you have librarians, 00:10:04.29\00:10:07.51 and you have housemaids, truck drivers, businesses. 00:10:07.54\00:10:12.12 And as we meet them we try to come together 00:10:12.15\00:10:16.92 on regular meetings you know two, or three hours a day 00:10:16.95\00:10:19.86 to share to encourage 00:10:19.89\00:10:21.61 and to provide certain specific trainings 00:10:21.64\00:10:24.23 of how to witness cross culturally 00:10:24.26\00:10:26.51 and how to be very sensitive and appropriate, 00:10:26.54\00:10:29.52 you know, effective in the context 00:10:29.55\00:10:31.87 where they are living and witnessing 00:10:31.90\00:10:33.95 or working that's may of fact. 00:10:33.98\00:10:36.25 Excellent, I know that you can't names 00:10:36.28\00:10:39.74 but can you tell us a story 00:10:39.77\00:10:41.24 about the tentmaker and what they're doing? 00:10:41.27\00:10:43.52 Well, recently I met a tentmaker, 00:10:43.55\00:10:46.70 you know, he is a pilot 00:10:46.73\00:10:49.58 and he is a trainer of helicopter pilots. 00:10:49.61\00:10:54.29 So he's there in a certain country in the Middle East 00:10:54.32\00:10:58.50 training and suddenly his boss asks him, 00:10:58.53\00:11:02.17 you need to come and work on Sabbath. 00:11:02.20\00:11:05.16 And he says no, I cannot because I keep the Sabbath. 00:11:05.19\00:11:08.32 I am a Seventh-day Adventist. 00:11:08.35\00:11:09.98 And the boss, you know, an Arabic man demands him 00:11:10.01\00:11:14.00 that he comes on Sabbath to work. 00:11:14.03\00:11:16.19 And he says, no, I cannot, 00:11:16.22\00:11:18.41 you know, I keep the Sabbath as day of rest. 00:11:18.44\00:11:22.26 And sudden, you know, he finds himself 00:11:22.29\00:11:24.39 thinking that he's going to lose his job. 00:11:24.42\00:11:27.03 Finally, you know, after the boss demanding him 00:11:27.06\00:11:29.54 so much about coming and working on Sabbath. 00:11:29.57\00:11:32.79 He says no, you can fire me because I will obey God. 00:11:32.82\00:11:36.95 And so Ed I will call him 00:11:36.98\00:11:39.94 decides not to work on Sabbath. 00:11:39.97\00:11:43.11 And finally the boss comes and calls him and says, 00:11:43.14\00:11:47.64 come with me let's go to my home. 00:11:47.67\00:11:49.99 I need you to talk to you. 00:11:50.02\00:11:52.58 And he faces Ed and says, I never met a person like that 00:11:52.61\00:11:57.78 like that who will be willing to lose his job 00:11:57.81\00:12:01.66 but not to disobey God. 00:12:01.69\00:12:05.03 I need you to work for me. 00:12:05.06\00:12:06.96 And he makes such a friendship 00:12:06.99\00:12:09.04 that the boss this Arab man 00:12:09.07\00:12:13.83 calls him to his home now to witness, 00:12:13.86\00:12:17.11 to pray with him and to talk about 00:12:17.14\00:12:20.27 you know, his believes. 00:12:20.30\00:12:21.73 So this is I call tentmaker who is really willing 00:12:21.76\00:12:25.21 to witness of his belief. 00:12:25.24\00:12:27.82 Fantastic. 00:12:27.85\00:12:29.16 Well, so when you travel you are there to encourage, 00:12:29.19\00:12:33.22 you are that to help them adop to their circumstances better. 00:12:33.25\00:12:37.90 Yeah, wonderful. 00:12:37.93\00:12:39.24 Wagner, thank you for join us today. Welcome. 00:12:39.27\00:12:41.67 Viewers at home, tent making can be a very challenging thing 00:12:41.70\00:12:46.85 for those who are involved in foreign circumstances 00:12:46.88\00:12:50.05 in coaches that may not be overlay open 00:12:50.08\00:12:54.12 to the sharing of the gospel. 00:12:54.15\00:12:55.78 Please pray for them it's very encouraging for them 00:12:55.81\00:12:58.05 to know that there is a world church 00:12:58.08\00:12:59.95 but they are people who care and praying for them. 00:12:59.98\00:13:02.33 If you like more information 00:13:02.36\00:13:03.44 about tent making go to AdventistMission.org. 00:13:03.47\00:13:06.97 My guest is Pastor Rick McEdward, 00:13:54.71\00:13:56.85 who is the director of the Global Mission Study Centers 00:13:56.88\00:14:00.14 and the most recent addition to the Global Mission Study Centers 00:14:00.17\00:14:03.65 is new center aimed at urban mission. 00:14:03.68\00:14:06.86 Rick, welcome to the program. 00:14:06.89\00:14:08.07 Thanks, Gary. 00:14:08.10\00:14:09.13 Why these emphasis on urban mission. 00:14:09.16\00:14:11.60 We seem to be hearing about it 00:14:11.63\00:14:13.25 from the General Conference president 00:14:13.28\00:14:15.08 we read about it in church publications, 00:14:15.11\00:14:17.67 Global Missions talking about. 00:14:17.70\00:14:18.95 Why this emphasis? 00:14:18.98\00:14:20.15 As pretty simple it's where people live. 00:14:20.18\00:14:22.90 As of 2007 more than 50 percent of the world's population 00:14:22.93\00:14:28.14 lives in urban areas 00:14:28.17\00:14:29.88 and we see that all of the largest cities 00:14:29.91\00:14:33.14 of the world are increasing in size. 00:14:33.17\00:14:36.20 But haven't we been ministering in cities 00:14:36.23\00:14:39.06 for the last 100 or so years? 00:14:39.09\00:14:41.26 Well, you know I think we started that way. 00:14:41.29\00:14:43.45 Certainly William Millar and others of the famous 00:14:43.48\00:14:48.26 early Adventist evangelist certainly started that way 00:14:48.29\00:14:51.94 but we have been most successful in the islands 00:14:51.97\00:14:54.85 and in the villages and lot of our mission outreach 00:14:54.88\00:14:58.19 has really been in these kind of rural areas 00:14:58.22\00:15:01.38 and we have neglected the cities partly due to the complexity 00:15:01.41\00:15:06.54 but partly because we are not sure 00:15:06.57\00:15:08.12 we should really be there. 00:15:08.15\00:15:10.68 So when we're looking at mission to the cities 00:15:10.71\00:15:13.50 what sort of approach should we thinking about? 00:15:13.53\00:15:16.29 Well, you know, I think mission to the cities 00:15:16.32\00:15:20.51 really brings us back to what the Lord did. 00:15:20.54\00:15:24.21 Jesus touched people, we think about the story of the leopard. 00:15:24.24\00:15:28.84 What did He do for the leopard, 00:15:28.87\00:15:30.49 He touched him, He heeled him. 00:15:30.52\00:15:32.53 We think about Jesus by the Pool of Bethesda 00:15:32.56\00:15:34.70 with compassion raising the man up 00:15:34.73\00:15:36.76 who had been waiting for so long. 00:15:36.79\00:15:38.41 We think about Him raising the dead girl 00:15:38.44\00:15:41.20 and the mother-in-law of Peter. 00:15:41.23\00:15:44.40 All of these stories and many others show 00:15:44.43\00:15:48.03 that Jesus was interested 00:15:48.06\00:15:49.92 in much more than just preaching. 00:15:49.95\00:15:52.41 He was actually interested in meeting the physical needs 00:15:52.44\00:15:55.82 which open the door to the spiritual lives. 00:15:55.85\00:15:59.23 Can you give some examples of how urban mission 00:15:59.26\00:16:02.49 is going forward in some parts of the world? 00:16:02.52\00:16:05.05 I am sure, 00:16:05.08\00:16:06.55 I think they are some real exciting ones. 00:16:06.58\00:16:08.61 I think of city of Bangkok, Thailand 00:16:08.64\00:16:11.56 where in 2006 there was five churches 00:16:11.59\00:16:16.00 and now out of as result of partnership 00:16:16.03\00:16:19.40 between local pastors, church members, 00:16:19.43\00:16:22.28 local leaders and some missionaries. 00:16:22.31\00:16:25.68 As out of this partnership there is a 19 or 20 00:16:25.71\00:16:28.96 new congregations that have started 00:16:28.99\00:16:31.05 in the past few years. 00:16:31.08\00:16:33.06 Well, how did that happen? 00:16:33.09\00:16:34.93 It happened as result of meeting practical needs 00:16:34.96\00:16:38.67 with English language, with education, 00:16:38.70\00:16:40.80 with consoling, with health programs 00:16:40.83\00:16:44.24 and all of these programs coming together 00:16:44.27\00:16:46.12 to meet those real needs of people and open it up. 00:16:46.15\00:16:49.26 I know another story 00:16:49.29\00:16:50.37 actually of one pastor in Perth, Australia. 00:16:50.40\00:16:53.87 Over the last eight years has planted five churches. 00:16:53.90\00:16:58.07 And how did he do it? 00:16:58.10\00:16:59.39 He identifies who needs help. 00:16:59.42\00:17:02.09 He goes in system with the pluming. 00:17:02.12\00:17:04.27 He goes in system with their immigrant--immigration papers. 00:17:04.30\00:17:08.09 He helps them with a variety of needs transporting them, 00:17:08.12\00:17:11.70 doing different things, 00:17:11.73\00:17:13.13 and one by one he helps win their hearts 00:17:13.16\00:17:16.55 over to the place where he says 00:17:16.58\00:17:18.50 you know come and follow Jesus. 00:17:18.53\00:17:20.58 Wonderful. 00:17:20.61\00:17:21.66 Now, Rick, from the office of Adventist Mission 00:17:21.69\00:17:23.69 we have an exciting initiative code 00:17:23.72\00:17:26.87 Life Hope Centers which is that name 00:17:26.90\00:17:30.10 for what Ellen White called centers of influence. 00:17:30.13\00:17:32.61 Tell us about this initiative. 00:17:32.64\00:17:34.14 Well, Life Hope Center would really be a place 00:17:34.17\00:17:39.01 where people who may have a barrier 00:17:39.04\00:17:42.50 to come inside of a church with cross on it 00:17:42.53\00:17:45.48 or what people might him that some of these things 00:17:45.51\00:17:48.60 where a person of a another religion 00:17:48.63\00:17:50.77 or a secular person might be able to come in 00:17:50.80\00:17:54.38 and connect with other Christians 00:17:54.41\00:17:57.58 with Adventist who are there to built relationships, 00:17:57.61\00:18:00.48 who are there to do community service, 00:18:00.51\00:18:03.18 who may be-- could be around a cafe 00:18:03.21\00:18:06.87 or a vegetarian restaurant or reading room. 00:18:06.90\00:18:10.45 There is a lot of different ways 00:18:10.48\00:18:12.85 where we can associate with people 00:18:12.88\00:18:14.98 that don't have the stipple problem with them 00:18:15.01\00:18:20.97 or people make come in from the community. 00:18:21.00\00:18:23.54 So it's connecting church members to the community. 00:18:23.57\00:18:28.37 Well, you know, all of is need to be involved 00:18:28.40\00:18:30.47 in gospel commission. 00:18:30.50\00:18:31.65 Ultimately we have had a very successful evangelistic program 00:18:31.68\00:18:36.51 that relies on professionals. 00:18:36.54\00:18:38.44 And what a marvelous invitation God gives us to say 00:18:38.47\00:18:42.21 we want you to come every person, 00:18:42.24\00:18:44.82 every follower of Christ 00:18:44.85\00:18:46.74 and connect with others and be a witness. 00:18:46.77\00:18:48.96 But we haven't always provided 00:18:48.99\00:18:51.20 the right opportunities as a church. 00:18:51.23\00:18:53.45 And this provides an account of a teacher, 00:18:53.48\00:18:55.81 a auto mechanic, a cook, 00:18:55.84\00:18:58.27 a place for connecting with those in the community 00:18:58.30\00:19:03.16 that shows that even though I am disciple 00:19:03.19\00:19:05.42 but not an evangelist. 00:19:05.45\00:19:07.04 I still have the opportunity to share my faith that requires. 00:19:07.07\00:19:11.58 Can you give us an example to where this is happening already? 00:19:11.61\00:19:14.97 Yeah, I will tell you excellent story 00:19:15.00\00:19:16.99 in a largest city. 00:19:17.02\00:19:18.07 One of the world's largest stories--city sorry 00:19:18.10\00:19:21.76 and where a group started a health food store 00:19:21.79\00:19:27.43 with a teaching room upstairs. 00:19:27.46\00:19:29.23 This health food store has a very nice health foods 00:19:29.26\00:19:32.96 and different things and as the community 00:19:32.99\00:19:34.93 has responded to it they've been invited 00:19:34.96\00:19:37.66 to go through health training programs. 00:19:37.69\00:19:40.13 And worship services have been connected with that. 00:19:40.16\00:19:44.28 So here this community center that is multi-tiered. 00:19:44.31\00:19:49.48 A worship, yes, life training, 00:19:49.51\00:19:53.04 life skills and health training and some place 00:19:53.07\00:19:56.03 where people can come and go 00:19:56.06\00:19:57.78 and lot of church members are serving in those locations. 00:19:57.81\00:20:00.91 And so this is a place that is so funded?
