Light Bearers Ministry began
with an overwhelming conviction

beginning of this ministry

At the same time, we
were receiving requests

from Africa for literature.

It was then that this idea came

that we were to

We didn't know
anything about publishing.

And so we stepped up by faith,

everything we do was by faith.

press, got some paper,

got some ink, got the chemical.

We said, wow is there
a manual with this thing.

working on that thing

We just tried to get

Well, most of us
don't think about the fact

that animals have right
of way in certain areas.

And this is defiantly the fact

in northern Botswana
where we were visiting.

The main highway goes right
through a natural reserve park

and hundreds of
thousands of elephants

just walk back and
forth as they are migrating.

So, it's a kind of life
that we can't even imagine.

So, the elephants are dangerous?

They actually are
dangerous, they are not.

two places in Botswana.

It was in the village of Satau
where Pastor Chabale settled

and he goes in every morning

and has worship
with the local clinic,

prays with the staff and with
the patients that are there.

He's established a relationship
with the village chief.

So he is doing all the proper
traditional accepted things

that are protocol in that area.

And so he is becoming one
of the community very quickly.

Now has he established a
new group of believers there?

He has, he has a small group.

They meet at a school near by

but they don't have a
structure of their own yet.

Now, so his first
steps in church planting

were to go and make friends

protocol with the leaders.

Okay, now the second
place that you visited was?

interesting to see that church

because on this particular
Sabbath the new pastor was

the third Global
Mission pioneer into that area.

So a few years back
the first pioneer went

and started getting
acquainted with the neighbors.

And again as protocol,

God acquainted with the head man

established a
relationship there.

And as people became more
interested in studying with him

A second pioneer came along

to build the

quite a bright spot in

the people there?

we could

fuss over their children

and they are very
proud or if it seems right

their children and pick them up,

So what are the
major mission challenges

that they face in Botswana?

I think probably the
major mission challenges

would be secularism even there.

They said-- when we talk to them

they said most people weren't
all that interested in church.

interested in getting ahead

especially if they had
been raised in a poor village.

They wanted to do well
and they are able to support

their parents and

their biggest challenge
