Hello, I'm Gary Krause, and I'm standing in front of 00:00:07.78\00:00:10.39 the house here in North East Cambodia, where a Global Mission 00:00:10.42\00:00:13.77 Pioneer is sharing the love of Jesus. 00:00:13.80\00:00:16.15 Welcome to Global Mission Snapshots where we take you 00:00:16.18\00:00:19.60 right to the front lines of mission around the world. 00:00:19.63\00:00:22.62 Just before He went up to heaven, Jesus gave us a command. 00:00:27.52\00:00:31.55 He gave us a mission. Jesus said go unto all the world 00:00:31.58\00:00:39.80 telling them of His love, this is our mission, 00:00:39.83\00:00:44.84 this is our Global Mission. 00:00:44.87\00:00:47.10 Hello, and welcome to Global Mission Snapshots, 00:00:52.05\00:00:54.95 I'm Gary Krause. 00:00:54.98\00:00:56.41 If you walked out your front door and asked your neighbors 00:00:56.44\00:01:00.59 if they had ever heard the name Jesus, what would they say? 00:01:00.62\00:01:04.07 Of course if you lived somewhere such as India, or Burma, or 00:01:04.10\00:01:08.72 Mauritania, or anywhere in the 1040 window for that matter. 00:01:08.75\00:01:12.43 You'll probably get a very different answer than if you 00:01:12.46\00:01:15.50 lived in the Bible Belt of the United States. 00:01:15.53\00:01:18.02 If we look at the entire world population, more than 00:01:18.05\00:01:22.53 seven billion people, only one in three consider themselves 00:01:22.56\00:01:27.88 a follower of Jesus Christ. 00:01:27.91\00:01:30.13 Let me tell you, it's a sobering thing to meet a young person 00:01:30.16\00:01:35.99 or and adult who in their entire lives has never, ever 00:01:36.02\00:01:40.32 even heard the name JESUS. 00:01:40.35\00:01:42.22 Jesus gave us a commission to carry the good news to every 00:01:42.25\00:01:47.14 tribe, language, and people, and that's what Global Mission 00:01:47.17\00:01:51.73 is all about, helping lead people to know and accept Jesus. 00:01:51.76\00:01:55.74 On today's program Dan Weber introduces us to 00:01:55.77\00:01:59.65 Seventh Day Adventists in China who are following 00:01:59.68\00:02:03.53 Jesus' example, and literally touching the lives of lepers. 00:02:03.56\00:02:07.80 I'll also be talking with Rick Cagerra about Global Mission 00:02:07.83\00:02:12.09 Pioneers, those front line lay church planters 00:02:12.12\00:02:15.87 who are carrying the good news to unreached areas 00:02:15.90\00:02:18.75 and unreached people groups. 00:02:18.78\00:02:20.58 But first up, let's meet some Global Mission Pioneers from 00:02:20.61\00:02:24.45 Ethiopia and a pioneer mission movement pastor in Japan. 00:02:24.48\00:02:28.56 This Pastor Lee Sunghu, a pioneer mission movement pastor 00:02:35.92\00:02:40.69 from Korea, he is leading the Amami Oshima Church in Japan. 00:02:40.72\00:02:45.30 Pastor Lee has been working here for the past five years 00:02:45.33\00:02:49.04 and has grown this small church to more than 30 members. 00:02:49.07\00:02:52.69 But things were not always this way. 00:02:52.72\00:02:55.45 Amami Oshima is a small island located off the 00:02:55.48\00:02:59.92 southern coast of Japan. It has beautiful sandy beaches, 00:02:59.95\00:03:03.85 smooth rivers that wind through the mangroves and is home to 00:03:03.88\00:03:07.90 silk plantations that produce some of the finest fabrics 00:03:07.93\00:03:10.81 in the world. About 66,000 people live on this 00:03:10.84\00:03:14.89 semi-tropical island, whose warm weather is an attractive 00:03:14.92\00:03:18.97 alternative to the cold mainland. 00:03:19.00\00:03:21.05 When Pastor Lee first arrived there were only a handful of 00:03:21.08\00:03:25.32 members and he found it very different from what he was 00:03:25.35\00:03:27.94 used to in Korea. Not only was the culture different, 00:03:27.97\00:03:31.50 but the church members were different as well. 00:03:31.53\00:03:33.73 He found it hard to relate to his members and struggled 00:03:33.76\00:03:36.84 in trying to earn their trust. After a few years, Pr. Lee 00:03:36.87\00:03:41.68 decided to take the matter to the Lord in prayer. 00:03:41.71\00:03:44.59 He submitted himself and his ministry to God, 00:03:44.62\00:03:47.77 it was then that he found the answer. 00:03:47.80\00:03:50.52 He dedicated his ministry to becoming a servant 00:03:50.55\00:03:54.11 to his members. Pr. Lee then felt that he truly reached them 00:03:54.14\00:03:58.97 and the church became like a family. The members then 00:03:59.00\00:04:02.57 wanted to share this new feeling with their families and friends. 00:04:02.60\00:04:05.68 and at that point the church started to grow. 00:04:05.71\00:04:08.47 Mr. Fukomoto is the head elder of the Amami Oshima church, 00:04:08.50\00:04:13.25 he and his wife run a small Sushi Shop not far from where 00:04:13.28\00:04:17.29 the church meets. When he became and Adventist 00:04:17.32\00:04:20.00 he decided to close his shop on Sabbath, the busiest day 00:04:20.03\00:04:23.62 of the week. His friends expected his shop to close, 00:04:23.65\00:04:27.09 but instead it thrived. His commitment to God allowed 00:04:27.12\00:04:31.27 his business to busier than ever. Mrs. Osaka has been 00:04:31.30\00:04:35.53 a long time member of the church, her husband however 00:04:35.56\00:04:38.97 would not attend church, he is an avid Kendo Instructor 00:04:39.00\00:04:42.70 and felt that he didn't need the church in his life, 00:04:42.73\00:04:45.44 Kendo was his religion. 00:04:45.47\00:04:47.36 But recently he started to attend the church because of 00:04:47.39\00:04:50.58 the happiness that his wife feels there. 00:04:50.61\00:04:54.02 This quarter a portion of your 13th Sabbath offering 00:04:54.05\00:04:57.08 will provide a much needed church for the group 00:04:57.11\00:05:00.33 of believers in Amami Oshima. 00:05:00.36\00:05:02.47 They currently rent a small room above a restaurant 00:05:02.50\00:05:05.48 and on each Sabbath the church is packed for church. 00:05:05.51\00:05:08.31 The new church building will provide more evangelistic 00:05:08.34\00:05:11.34 opportunities to this small group. 00:05:11.37\00:05:13.26 Growth for the Adventist Church has been slow in Japan, 00:05:13.29\00:05:16.95 so it's a blessing to have such a vibrant and growing 00:05:16.98\00:05:19.92 congregation. Thank you for your faithful support 00:05:19.95\00:05:24.38 of the mission of the Seventh Day Adventist Church 00:05:24.41\00:05:27.16 Around the World. 00:05:27.19\00:05:29.94 Tellesakanow has lived in these rugged Ethiopian hills 00:06:00.99\00:06:05.47 his entire life. The vast majority of the country's 00:06:05.50\00:06:11.19 85 million people live outside the cities surviving on the food 00:06:11.22\00:06:16.41 they manage to grow. 00:06:16.44\00:06:20.41 Each day he travels by foot to meet with his neighbors, 00:06:20.44\00:06:25.58 he speaks their language, he knows their struggles, 00:06:25.61\00:06:30.02 he is trusted by those around him. 00:06:30.05\00:06:33.56 Tellesa is a Global Mission Pioneer. 00:06:33.59\00:06:37.34 After Bible study and prayer he continues 00:06:45.64\00:06:48.58 to the next home, at times an eight hour journey. 00:06:48.62\00:06:53.79 He built a church for the growing congregation 00:07:01.36\00:07:04.35 with his own money. 00:07:04.38\00:07:06.60 Many people from this region believe in idol worship, 00:07:06.63\00:07:14.84 they are haunted by superstition and fear. This is the first time 00:07:14.87\00:07:21.88 they will have heard the name Jesus. 00:07:21.91\00:07:24.78 Please continue to pray for our Global Mission Pioneers. 00:07:34.32\00:07:37.85 Around the world thousands of pioneers like Tellesa 00:07:37.89\00:07:41.39 are working to share God's message of love with those 00:07:41.42\00:07:45.22 around them. Because of your support Tellesa is finding much 00:07:45.25\00:07:51.23 success on the hillsides of ? Ethiopia. 00:07:51.26\00:07:55.90 I just that video showing the sacrifice, the commitment, 00:08:08.74\00:08:12.78 the sheer hard work of becoming a Global Mission Pioneer. 00:08:12.81\00:08:16.13 I have been joined by Rick Kajiura who is the 00:08:16.16\00:08:18.59 Communication Director for Global Mission and Rick, 00:08:18.62\00:08:22.52 Global Mission Pioneers, the program began almost 00:08:22.55\00:08:25.83 20 years ago in 1993. In a nutshell, what is a 00:08:25.86\00:08:29.73 Global Mission Pioneer? 00:08:29.76\00:08:30.89 A Global Mission Pioneer is a lay church planter who goes out 00:08:30.92\00:08:35.03 into unreached areas and lives there for several years 00:08:35.06\00:08:38.79 on a small stipend. His goal is to share Jesus with the 00:08:38.82\00:08:39.85 people and start a small congregation. 00:08:39.88\00:08:45.42 Now these pioneers are usually young people but we've had 00:08:45.45\00:08:48.84 pioneers into their 70's, there is no age limit. 00:08:48.87\00:08:51.85 Now, they have a seminary education, they have PhD's 00:08:51.88\00:08:55.45 and Theology and church planting... 00:08:55.48\00:08:57.19 Now they do get some training, but these are lay people 00:08:57.22\00:08:59.68 who just have a real burden and a heart to share Jesus 00:08:59.71\00:09:02.91 with people who have never heard the gospel. 00:09:02.94\00:09:05.50 Now, we don't have the exact statistics, but there are some 00:09:05.53\00:09:07.97 that say the majority of new Seventh Day Adventist Churches 00:09:08.00\00:09:11.58 that have been planted in the past 20 years were planted by 00:09:11.61\00:09:14.62 Global Mission Pioneers. 00:09:14.65\00:09:15.74 Right! We don't have the statistics because we don't 00:09:15.77\00:09:17.89 track it that specifically, but we do know that when we go to 00:09:17.92\00:09:21.34 different areas of the world, we are always seeing new churches 00:09:21.37\00:09:25.04 and pioneers who are at the heart of those. 00:09:25.07\00:09:27.31 You get the opportunity to visit some of those pioneers 00:09:27.34\00:09:31.62 where they are working. Do you have a favorite story 00:09:31.65\00:09:34.46 that you can share with us? 00:09:34.49\00:09:35.89 Well trying to choose one is hard sometimes because 00:09:35.92\00:09:39.03 pioneers are inspiring people, they love what they are doing 00:09:39.06\00:09:42.52 and I can think of one pioneer in the country of India 00:09:42.55\00:09:46.59 and you were there, we both met him and he shared how 00:09:46.62\00:09:49.90 he had gone into a village and he started talking about 00:09:49.93\00:09:53.83 Jesus in the village square, and a crowd gathered 00:09:53.86\00:09:57.91 and in this village he said you didn't see very often 00:09:57.94\00:10:00.39 where you had a crowd like that and it was 00:10:00.42\00:10:02.26 attracting attention. And it attracted the attention of 00:10:02.29\00:10:05.23 some people who didn't want Christians in the village. 00:10:05.26\00:10:07.52 So they came to him and said we don't want you in this 00:10:07.55\00:10:10.60 village, and we especially don't want you talking about 00:10:10.63\00:10:13.02 Christ, if you keep doing it we are going to kill you. 00:10:13.05\00:10:17.06 And he kept doing it, so they grabbed him and they started 00:10:17.09\00:10:20.81 to beat him, and they held him for several hours 00:10:20.84\00:10:23.16 and finally somebody called the police and the police 00:10:23.19\00:10:26.43 came out and he is thinking ah, at last the police have me... 00:10:26.46\00:10:29.86 They took him to the police station and they kept him there 00:10:29.89\00:10:32.76 for hours and interrogated him, trying to get him to admit 00:10:32.79\00:10:36.03 that he was doing something wrong, like he was bribing 00:10:36.06\00:10:38.39 people to come listen to him or something. 00:10:38.43\00:10:39.80 He said when he wouldn't confess, they started to 00:10:39.83\00:10:42.68 beat him too, and he said I just didn't know what to do 00:10:42.71\00:10:46.04 so finally I said look, call the Seventh Day Adventist Church 00:10:46.07\00:10:48.27 Headquarters in the country here, and finally somebody did 00:10:48.30\00:10:51.80 and somebody explained. They still kept him till 00:10:51.83\00:10:54.92 late into the night before they finally let him go. 00:10:54.95\00:10:57.02 You know for most people when you've had that experience 00:10:57.05\00:11:00.59 and you are working in a district, you know that's the 00:11:00.62\00:11:02.75 one area that you wouldn't go back to. 00:11:02.78\00:11:04.13 Right! You would go to some other area and say... 00:11:04.16\00:11:06.25 You know they don't want me there, let me try and see 00:11:06.28\00:11:08.41 if things are a little better here. 00:11:08.44\00:11:09.53 But no, he went back to the village and he started talking 00:11:09.56\00:11:13.23 about Jesus in the Public Square again 00:11:13.26\00:11:15.17 and those people came again and they said, 00:11:15.20\00:11:19.19 we told you not to come here you know, we don't like 00:11:19.22\00:11:21.59 Christians get out. And he said, I am here, I am not 00:11:21.62\00:11:27.13 leaving, and I am talking about Jesus, 00:11:27.16\00:11:29.11 and they slowly just sort of melted away in the crowd. 00:11:29.14\00:11:32.50 It reminds me of a Bible story, but they just melted away 00:11:32.53\00:11:35.36 and he said he started talking about Jesus. 00:11:35.39\00:11:37.92 In that whole district he had about 2,000 people 00:11:37.95\00:11:41.37 when he finished his time as a pioneer. 00:11:41.40\00:11:44.17 Amazing, just, it's humbling when you meet a pioneer 00:11:44.20\00:11:47.86 like that. Now, speaking of which... About a month ago I was 00:11:47.89\00:11:50.87 in Cambodia in Southeast Asia and I got to meet some 00:11:50.90\00:11:55.19 Global Mission Pioneers working there and in Cambodia 00:11:55.22\00:11:59.67 we didn't have any Seventh Day Adventist believers. 00:11:59.70\00:12:02.39 After the Pol Pot Regime we actually had Adventists 00:12:02.42\00:12:08.43 workers going in to see if they could locate any Adventists 00:12:08.46\00:12:11.26 in the entire country. Today the church is growing rapidly 00:12:11.29\00:12:15.63 but the logistics are difficult in a country like Cambodia 00:12:15.66\00:12:20.25 just getting from one church plant to another. 00:12:20.28\00:12:22.89 This pioneer had a motorbike... Last time I was in Cambodia 00:12:22.92\00:12:27.82 most pioneers didn't even have a bicycle and they've got lots 00:12:27.85\00:12:30.95 of territory to cover. And they are working with people 00:12:30.98\00:12:35.71 who come from just a completely different background. 00:12:35.74\00:12:38.81 They... You know I was telling you earlier Rick that I was 00:12:38.84\00:12:43.44 walking along the road and I started talking with some people 00:12:43.47\00:12:47.71 there and there were two girls, teenagers, and I said to them 00:12:47.74\00:12:51.93 have you every heard of the name Jesus? 00:12:51.96\00:12:53.62 They looked at each other looked puzzled, frowned and 00:12:53.65\00:12:56.33 and the interpreter said no, and that really hit me hard, 00:12:56.36\00:13:00.13 and so we have pioneers working in these sort of circumstances, 00:13:00.16\00:13:06.29 willing to go out, willing to go out, but they can't sort of 00:13:06.32\00:13:09.84 just like open up the Bible and just have it recognized. 00:13:09.87\00:13:12.26 The people have never seen a Bible before. 00:13:12.29\00:13:14.61 So they build relationships with the people, 00:13:14.64\00:13:17.12 They build confidence with the people and then they get the 00:13:17.15\00:13:22.55 opportunity to share about Jesus. As I saw these people 00:13:22.58\00:13:25.72 worshipping for the first time, it just touched my heart 00:13:25.75\00:13:30.01 that because of the dedication of the pioneers, 00:13:30.04\00:13:33.41 people are learning for the first time about Jesus. 00:13:33.44\00:13:35.53 Global Mission Pioneers, I mean, the heart they have and 00:13:35.56\00:13:40.81 the places they are willing to go, and the obstacles 00:13:40.84\00:13:42.60 they are willing to overcome. 00:13:42.63\00:13:43.66 We're looking, I'm not sure exactly how much in Cambodia, 00:13:43.69\00:13:47.42 but I am guessing maybe 60 to 100 dollars per month 00:13:47.45\00:13:50.64 is what they are living on, just a basic stipend which 00:13:50.67\00:13:54.04 gives them a room to live in and a few materials, 00:13:54.07\00:13:57.85 but often they are supporting their entire families. 00:13:57.88\00:14:00.05 So it is not an easy task, but you never meet a Global 00:14:00.08\00:14:03.73 Mission Pioneer complaint. I don't think I ever have. 00:14:03.76\00:14:07.56 Well, thanks for joining us Rick and sharing just quickly 00:14:07.59\00:14:11.10 a little bit about Global Mission Pioneers. 00:14:11.13\00:14:13.08 It's good to be here and to viewers at home, 00:14:13.11\00:14:16.30 thank you so much for your continuing prayers for pioneers. 00:14:16.33\00:14:20.39 It can get lonely, it can be challenging, 00:14:20.42\00:14:22.54 it can be very difficult on the front lines of mission. 00:14:22.57\00:14:25.16 Please don't go away, we will be back soon after this break 00:14:25.19\00:14:28.05 to visit the country of China. 00:14:28.08\00:14:30.55 Welcome back! China, nearly 1.4 billion people, 00:15:07.55\00:15:12.19 what a complex, changing dynamic place. 00:15:12.22\00:15:15.64 Dan Weber, you are the video producer for Global Mission. 00:15:15.67\00:15:20.25 Yep! You get to visit places like China and you know 00:15:20.28\00:15:24.06 your visits there, you meet with pastors, lay people, 00:15:24.09\00:15:27.14 you go to the churches... What has touched your heart 00:15:27.17\00:15:29.20 when you visited there? 00:15:29.23\00:15:30.66 There's more than 400,000 members there. 00:15:30.69\00:15:33.05 People realize...Some people think that China's a black hole 00:15:33.08\00:15:36.10 and there's no members there. We have a large population 00:15:36.13\00:15:38.97 there. I mean not large compared to the whole population 00:15:39.00\00:15:41.85 of the country, but there is a good number of members there. 00:15:41.89\00:15:43.76 One thing struck me. My first Sabbath in a church there, 00:15:43.96\00:15:48.28 I'm in Chen Yang, which is up the northern part, 00:15:48.31\00:15:51.60 north of northern Vietnam, very cold! 00:15:51.63\00:15:54.25 The largest Adventist church in the world is there, 00:15:54.28\00:15:56.67 over 7,000 members. 00:15:56.71\00:15:59.12 Pastored by a woman, started as a church plant in 1985 with 00:15:59.15\00:16:02.93 five people. Now, it itself has spread out and there is 00:16:02.96\00:16:06.91 and there is 118 church plants that have gone off of that one 00:16:06.94\00:16:10.07 church plant that has started. 00:16:10.10\00:16:11.66 But I am sitting in church service on Sabbath, 00:16:11.69\00:16:14.08 and what really touched me was, when the sermon is done 00:16:14.11\00:16:17.56 the members sing a song, and it blew me away. 00:16:17.59\00:16:22.27 I was not prepared for what happened, 00:16:22.30\00:16:24.08 and we have that song for you in a video right now, 00:16:24.11\00:16:26.89 Let's take a look at that. 00:16:26.92\00:16:28.44 That's beautiful Dan, it brings back some memories of when I 00:18:05.65\00:18:09.80 visited Chen Yang some years ago and visited with the pastor 00:18:09.83\00:18:13.24 and with her elders, and I can't remember how many elders 00:18:13.27\00:18:15.95 there were, but these leaders larger than your average 00:18:15.98\00:18:20.14 Adventist Church. This was the biggest Adventist Church I've 00:18:20.17\00:18:22.73 ever visited in my life, but as you say, church plants 00:18:22.76\00:18:25.69 all around it, many home churches. 00:18:25.72\00:18:28.42 We spent a whole day just going and visiting 00:18:28.45\00:18:31.37 church plants. We only made it to eight of them, 00:18:31.40\00:18:33.56 and we drove for hours just to get out to these places. 00:18:33.59\00:18:35.98 It really shows what church planting can do, 00:18:36.01\00:18:38.66 how it can start, and grow, and multiply... 00:18:38.69\00:18:40.53 Multiply, exactly. But what really is great there 00:18:40.56\00:18:43.42 is the involvement of the lay members. 00:18:43.45\00:18:45.38 It started off as something small, but they get the members 00:18:45.41\00:18:48.00 involved and they have prayer meeting every Friday morning 00:18:48.03\00:18:53.03 at 5:00 a.m. and the members come together and they have 00:18:53.06\00:18:57.14 prayer service together and then they go out and 00:18:57.17\00:18:58.74 do things in the community... do outreach in the community. 00:18:58.77\00:19:01.48 It's a great example for all of us, we really can learn from it. 00:19:01.51\00:19:04.73 And you come to church on Sabbath morning and there is 00:19:04.76\00:19:07.51 church members there at 5:00 praying, 00:19:07.54\00:19:09.11 they start early. Now recently you also visited 00:19:09.14\00:19:12.77 a special ministry to lepers, tell us about that. 00:19:12.80\00:19:15.22 Well, again this kind of goes along the point where 00:19:15.25\00:19:18.35 lay members get involved and last year I was getting ready 00:19:18.38\00:19:23.24 for my second trip to China to go visit. 00:19:23.27\00:19:25.24 I'm sitting on the plane in Baltimore and I get an email 00:19:25.27\00:19:29.08 on my phone, and I check it, and it's from Charlotte, 00:19:29.11\00:19:32.21 standing in her office, she writes the mission quarterly, 00:19:32.24\00:19:34.24 and she says I've just got this great story, 00:19:34.27\00:19:36.63 you need to be able to film this, and I looked over her 00:19:36.66\00:19:41.64 story real quick and I said I'll try. And I shot an email off 00:19:41.67\00:19:44.88 to the guy who was meeting me in Shanghi about a day later, 00:19:44.91\00:19:48.71 and said, can we get this story? 00:19:48.74\00:19:50.80 When I landed in San Francisco there was an email back from him 00:19:50.83\00:19:55.30 saying, we're going to get this story whatever it takes. 00:19:55.33\00:19:58.02 A day later, I was up at 7:00 in the morning to go catch 00:19:58.05\00:20:02.19 a train to drive out to this... to get this great story 00:20:02.22\00:20:05.58 about young people who are committed, very, very committed, 00:20:05.61\00:20:09.69 I've never seen commitment like this before, it's wonderful. 00:20:09.72\00:20:12.24 Now, we get the picture sometimes that in China 00:20:12.27\00:20:17.06 restrictions are so strict that the church can't operate... 00:20:17.09\00:20:20.58 It can operate at a certain level, in certain places 00:20:20.61\00:20:23.33 and it varies from place to place. 00:20:23.36\00:20:25.26 Well I really want to have a look at this video, 00:20:25.29\00:20:27.91 but before we look at it, how many young people are involved 00:20:27.94\00:20:31.39 in this ministry? 00:20:31.42\00:20:32.50 There's probably about 80 young people, 00:20:32.53\00:20:34.50 and they have 18 different locations throughout China, 00:20:34.53\00:20:37.72 and in the story we will see more, it's just that I was 00:20:37.75\00:20:41.17 blown away, the young girl she is 18 years old, 00:20:41.20\00:20:44.06 she had a career path set for her and she decided 00:20:44.09\00:20:47.86 that she wanted to make a commitment to serving His 00:20:47.89\00:20:51.42 Christ's Hands here on earth. 00:20:51.45\00:20:52.48 Wonderful, well we've heard the introduction, let's travel 00:20:52.51\00:20:56.70 to China now to see how the ministry to leper's 00:20:56.73\00:21:00.62 is taking place. Sometimes we only think of it in Bible times, 00:21:00.65\00:21:03.81 here it is today. 00:21:03.84\00:21:05.23 In the country of China, the situation of the lepers has 00:21:39.48\00:21:42.65 become a great tragedy. 00:21:42.68\00:21:45.35 There are 600 colonies and more than250,000 lepers. 00:21:45.38\00:21:52.41 The first time I saw the lepers, and I looked upon their faces 00:22:15.59\00:22:19.69 I felt a great pain inside my heart, but I felt called 00:22:19.72\00:22:24.67 to serve them, because they are the sons and daughters of God. 00:22:24.70\00:22:28.29 These people were abandoned by society and they feel that 00:22:46.75\00:22:50.53 they don't belong. Our goal is to help them 00:22:50.56\00:22:53.34 feel special, that they are loved. But we also want them 00:22:53.38\00:22:57.32 to know that Jesus made the ultimate sacrifice for them, 00:22:57.35\00:23:00.78 that they are redeemed and there is a kingdom for them. 00:23:00.81\00:23:04.13 I went to China in 2006 and saw the situation with the lepers 00:23:18.18\00:23:23.73 and found out that not one Adventist was working to 00:23:23.76\00:23:27.69 help them, I wanted to do something to help. 00:23:27.72\00:23:31.61 We are involved with 18 projects and we have more than 00:23:58.18\00:24:02.43 70 volunteers. 00:24:02.46\00:24:04.15 We live among the people in the colony, we eat with them, 00:24:06.18\00:24:10.25 we serve them. 00:24:10.28\00:24:12.58 Jesus Christ served the people, He provided for their needs, 00:24:12.61\00:24:21.98 that is what we are trying to do here, we want to help 00:24:22.01\00:24:26.10 these people and to provide for their needs just like Jesus did. 00:24:26.13\00:24:30.78 So far 327 lepers have been baptized. 00:24:33.14\00:24:36.96 My goal is to train these new converts to serve and help 00:24:41.01\00:24:44.89 other lepers. 00:24:44.92\00:24:46.07 The first time we touched the wounds of the lepers 00:25:14.06\00:25:17.19 it helps them to feel that someone cares about them. 00:25:17.22\00:25:20.06 Through this we are showing the love of Jesus to them, 00:25:20.09\00:25:23.39 we are earning their trust. 00:25:23.42\00:25:25.64 Welcome back to Global Mission Snapshots. 00:25:53.19\00:25:55.46 You know it means so much to global mission pioneers 00:25:55.49\00:25:58.98 to know that there are people around the world supporting them 00:25:59.01\00:26:02.86 and praying for them.
