Is it reasonable to believe in the existence of God, 00:00:01.36\00:00:04.50 and what about science? 00:00:04.53\00:00:05.87 Does it support or not support to believe in a Creator? 00:00:05.90\00:00:09.37 And what about the honest questions that agnostics 00:00:09.40\00:00:12.47 and atheists ask? 00:00:12.51\00:00:14.68 Are there reasonable answers to those questions? 00:00:14.71\00:00:17.35 Come explore with us the controversial topic of God: 00:00:17.38\00:00:21.62 Fact or Fiction? 00:00:21.65\00:00:23.12 Welcome to a respectful conversation 00:01:19.07\00:01:21.78 about the existence of God. 00:01:21.81\00:01:24.58 My guest today is Subodh Pandit, 00:01:24.61\00:01:27.25 who is a physician. 00:01:27.28\00:01:29.15 He's a fascinating person. He's from India. 00:01:29.18\00:01:31.45 He is the author of a couple of books 00:01:31.49\00:01:34.22 that I've read both of them cover to cover, 00:01:34.26\00:01:37.19 very interesting. 00:01:37.23\00:01:38.56 Book one is called Does God really exist? 00:01:38.59\00:01:41.30 The subtitle is, Is Theism Rational? 00:01:41.33\00:01:44.17 Is Evolution Truly Scientific? 00:01:44.20\00:01:46.60 And then book two is called The Weight of Evidence, 00:01:46.63\00:01:49.90 and the subtitle is Religions Compared Candidly 00:01:49.94\00:01:52.41 The Basis for Belief. 00:01:52.44\00:01:53.94 Both of these books have an umbrella title called 00:01:53.98\00:01:57.05 Come Search With Me. 00:01:57.08\00:01:59.15 Subodh Pandit is the president of an organization 00:01:59.18\00:02:02.98 called Search Seminars International. 00:02:03.02\00:02:05.92 He's traveled the world over 00:02:05.95\00:02:07.36 and he's spoken at university campuses. 00:02:07.39\00:02:10.96 And he talks to students about the big issues 00:02:10.99\00:02:13.29 of God evolution, faith, science, and he's just... 00:02:13.33\00:02:19.03 He's a very interesting man. 00:02:19.07\00:02:21.54 So, Subodh, thank you for being here with me. 00:02:21.57\00:02:24.97 My pleasure. It's great to be here, Steve. 00:02:25.01\00:02:27.04 Yes, you've been here for a couple days 00:02:27.08\00:02:29.54 and the weather's cold outside right now. 00:02:29.58\00:02:31.31 You're in the snowy land of North Idaho. 00:02:31.35\00:02:34.35 Very different from where I come from, 00:02:34.38\00:02:36.18 I mean, not so different but quite different. 00:02:36.22\00:02:38.15 Yes. 00:02:38.19\00:02:39.52 Well, I grew up in Los Angeles 00:02:39.55\00:02:40.89 and so this is very different too for me. 00:02:40.92\00:02:43.16 But I've lived here for the last almost 10 years 00:02:43.19\00:02:46.19 and I've come to enjoy all the seasons. 00:02:46.23\00:02:49.86 So anyway, let's just get right into our... 00:02:49.90\00:02:52.43 I want to have people get to know you a little better, 00:02:52.47\00:02:56.34 and then we'll talk about the 13 Part Series 00:02:56.37\00:02:59.04 that we just finished that you've just finished. 00:02:59.07\00:03:02.34 So just tell us a little bit about your background, 00:03:02.38\00:03:05.21 and what you do? 00:03:05.25\00:03:08.22 Professionally, I'm a medical doctor, 00:03:08.25\00:03:10.25 specialist in internal medicine. 00:03:10.29\00:03:12.19 I was born and brought up in India. 00:03:12.22\00:03:13.89 Now, India really is a land of tremendous diversity, 00:03:13.92\00:03:17.76 food, language, culture, religion. 00:03:17.79\00:03:21.06 It has the largest population of Hindus. 00:03:21.10\00:03:24.10 Very few people realize that India has about 00:03:24.13\00:03:27.00 the second largest population of Muslims. 00:03:27.04\00:03:29.70 We have more Muslims in India 00:03:29.74\00:03:31.07 than the whole Arabian Peninsula put together, 00:03:31.11\00:03:33.44 Jainism, Buddhism, Zoroastrianism, 00:03:33.48\00:03:36.95 so that is the background where I grew up. 00:03:36.98\00:03:40.55 So naturally, I had a lot of questions 00:03:40.58\00:03:42.55 when I was growing up and I did ask them. 00:03:42.58\00:03:46.39 I went on asking people, kept notes on what they said 00:03:46.42\00:03:50.53 and that is what I put together 00:03:50.56\00:03:52.56 in the presentations that I make 00:03:52.59\00:03:54.13 and part of that came into our 13 Part Series here. 00:03:54.16\00:03:59.43 Now, your specialty as a physician is what? 00:03:59.47\00:04:02.60 Internal medicine, but for the last 10 years 00:04:02.64\00:04:05.27 of my practice, I was an emergency room doctor, 00:04:05.31\00:04:09.24 an internist and the emergency room doctor. 00:04:09.28\00:04:11.61 Okay. And so what... 00:04:11.65\00:04:14.28 You know, as a doctor, now you are a speaker, 00:04:14.32\00:04:17.79 and you're an author, and you're the president 00:04:17.82\00:04:20.79 of Search Seminars 00:04:20.82\00:04:22.16 and you're tackling the big issues 00:04:22.19\00:04:25.26 of whether there's a God or not. 00:04:25.29\00:04:27.50 How did you shift from one to the other? 00:04:27.53\00:04:30.67 You know, in a sense, it was not a shift. 00:04:30.70\00:04:32.50 Like I said, I grew up in that crucible of mixture. 00:04:32.53\00:04:36.20 And these questions kept in the back of my mind 00:04:36.24\00:04:38.61 playing over and over again. 00:04:38.64\00:04:40.98 And so when I finished medical school, 00:04:41.01\00:04:42.81 I decided to let those questions 00:04:42.84\00:04:44.71 come to the fore 00:04:44.75\00:04:46.08 and see if I could tackle those questions. 00:04:46.11\00:04:48.52 And if there was a reasonable answer 00:04:48.55\00:04:51.49 to those big questions 00:04:51.52\00:04:52.95 that really vex a lot of people, including me. 00:04:52.99\00:04:56.59 So I didn't really shift out. 00:04:56.62\00:04:58.19 I just added this to what I was doing. 00:04:58.23\00:05:00.83 And as I was practicing, I would speak to people 00:05:00.86\00:05:04.00 and get to this topic as well. 00:05:04.03\00:05:07.40 And since this was interesting, a lot of information came in. 00:05:07.44\00:05:12.61 I just slowly transitioned 00:05:12.64\00:05:14.14 to have a focus on this later on. 00:05:14.18\00:05:17.11 Okay. 00:05:17.15\00:05:18.48 Do you still consider yourself 00:05:18.51\00:05:20.45 to be a searcher or have you arrived? 00:05:20.48\00:05:23.85 Do you now have all the answers 00:05:23.89\00:05:25.45 that you've got it all sewed up, you know? 00:05:25.49\00:05:27.46 That is an interesting question. 00:05:27.49\00:05:31.16 You know what I found when I was doing this search 00:05:31.19\00:05:34.30 that the attitude of a seeker or an inquirer 00:05:34.33\00:05:38.33 is one of the most delightful attitudes 00:05:38.37\00:05:41.10 one can have. 00:05:41.14\00:05:42.67 And even as you find things, you realize that 00:05:42.70\00:05:45.51 there's something more that you can get to. 00:05:45.54\00:05:48.44 But I have to state that, you know, 00:05:48.48\00:05:51.15 once you ask a question 00:05:51.18\00:05:52.85 and you come to a certain conclusion 00:05:52.88\00:05:55.05 because of the information and the evidence, 00:05:55.08\00:05:58.29 then at that point you can make a decision. 00:05:58.32\00:06:02.12 But that does not mean you have stopped searching. 00:06:02.16\00:06:05.89 So that's where I am. 00:06:05.93\00:06:08.90 I had asked some questions, looked for the evidences, hey, 00:06:08.93\00:06:13.23 there's some good evidence to answer my question. 00:06:13.27\00:06:16.87 So I've made up my mind on those points, 00:06:16.91\00:06:20.18 but I'm always going to be an inquirer. 00:06:20.21\00:06:22.51 That's good. 00:06:22.54\00:06:24.28 It seems to me that when you talk to somebody 00:06:24.31\00:06:27.88 that gives the impression that they know everything, 00:06:27.92\00:06:33.59 you know, it doesn't really speak 00:06:33.62\00:06:35.72 well for them as a person. 00:06:35.76\00:06:38.59 And I think we all struggle with a certain amount of pride 00:06:38.63\00:06:42.70 and you know we have a tendency as humans to talk 00:06:42.73\00:06:46.03 as if we really know a lot when sometimes we don't know 00:06:46.07\00:06:49.77 exactly what we're talking about. 00:06:49.80\00:06:51.47 But, Steve, that's a common thing 00:06:51.51\00:06:53.58 all over the world. 00:06:53.61\00:06:54.94 That's right. That's what I said. 00:06:54.98\00:06:56.31 It's a tendency of humanity. 00:06:56.34\00:06:57.68 And so for a person to adopt a humble posture, 00:06:57.71\00:07:01.55 I think that goes a long way. 00:07:01.58\00:07:03.18 But if you just turn your eyes to where we are, 00:07:03.22\00:07:06.45 this world is bitty and small compared to our solar system, 00:07:06.49\00:07:11.53 compared to our galaxy and compared to the universe. 00:07:11.56\00:07:14.10 So actually, we still are very, very small 00:07:14.13\00:07:17.13 and all that we can possibly put together 00:07:17.17\00:07:19.70 in the whole human race 00:07:19.73\00:07:21.20 is still a small bit of what there is. 00:07:21.24\00:07:23.74 So we will always should be humble, and an inquirer. 00:07:23.77\00:07:26.91 That's good. Excellent. 00:07:26.94\00:07:28.41 Now, give us just a quick overview. 00:07:28.44\00:07:30.18 You've just finished recording 13 programs 00:07:30.21\00:07:34.48 that delve into some of the content 00:07:34.52\00:07:37.72 that's in your books. 00:07:37.75\00:07:39.09 And you branch out into different areas 00:07:39.12\00:07:41.62 dealing with the existence or non existence of God 00:07:41.66\00:07:46.33 and arguments for and against and things like that. 00:07:46.36\00:07:50.10 So just, you know, talk to us a little bit about, 00:07:50.13\00:07:52.27 kind of an overview of what this 13 Part Series is about? 00:07:52.30\00:07:57.01 The base really should be set. 00:07:57.04\00:07:59.37 And when I looked around the world, 00:07:59.41\00:08:00.81 I found that most of the debates and discussions 00:08:00.84\00:08:03.08 would not end with a conclusive ending. 00:08:03.11\00:08:06.78 It was always an unsatisfying ending 00:08:06.82\00:08:09.65 in which neither side wins. 00:08:09.68\00:08:11.72 So when I looked into that, 00:08:11.75\00:08:13.46 I realized that one of the things 00:08:13.49\00:08:14.86 that they, that causes this is that there is a lack 00:08:14.89\00:08:19.03 of agreement on both sides on what the premise 00:08:19.06\00:08:22.20 of the base should be. 00:08:22.23\00:08:24.57 The base must be set 00:08:24.60\00:08:26.87 by factors that both sides agree. 00:08:26.90\00:08:29.17 So that's what I honestly and always do 00:08:29.20\00:08:32.54 when I present this. 00:08:32.57\00:08:33.91 And in this 13 Part Series that's all what I did, 00:08:33.94\00:08:36.21 make a base. 00:08:36.24\00:08:37.81 And then from that we went on to, 00:08:37.85\00:08:40.52 do we know there's a God? 00:08:40.55\00:08:42.22 The only real and credible way 00:08:42.25\00:08:45.35 is to look into the information we have, 00:08:45.39\00:08:48.12 scientific information, and then use common sense 00:08:48.16\00:08:51.29 and reason and logic. 00:08:51.33\00:08:53.19 So with that, the next question 00:08:53.23\00:08:55.43 I tackled was the question of evolution. 00:08:55.46\00:08:58.30 Is that really credible because most people believe in it? 00:08:58.33\00:09:02.84 So after we settled that, I went to the other question 00:09:02.87\00:09:06.31 of pluralism, which says that all the religions 00:09:06.34\00:09:09.74 are really the same in value. 00:09:09.78\00:09:13.82 It didn't seem possible, but when I looked into it, 00:09:13.85\00:09:16.08 yeah, that's what they were saying. 00:09:16.12\00:09:18.45 It didn't pan out from the writings 00:09:18.49\00:09:21.16 of the different religions. 00:09:21.19\00:09:23.06 So when I saw that I realized, 00:09:23.09\00:09:24.89 "Well, let's look at the religions themselves," 00:09:24.93\00:09:27.40 and then the test or the examination 00:09:27.43\00:09:31.73 of these five great world religions, 00:09:31.77\00:09:34.54 Hinduism, Islam, Buddhism, Judaism and Christianity. 00:09:34.57\00:09:38.84 So that is the thumbnail of all the things 00:09:38.87\00:09:42.14 that we did in 13 series sessions. 00:09:42.18\00:09:44.38 And you mentioned a certain things 00:09:44.41\00:09:45.98 that didn't pan out. 00:09:46.01\00:09:48.02 And I know part of your name is Pan or Pandit, 00:09:48.05\00:09:51.45 Pandit or Pundit? 00:09:51.49\00:09:52.82 Pandit. 00:09:52.85\00:09:54.19 And you've done a little, sort of, a tongue in cheek, 00:09:54.22\00:09:57.23 where you've created a term for a process that you have... 00:09:57.26\00:10:03.16 Now that you believe in. 00:10:03.20\00:10:04.53 Just explain that a little bit to us? 00:10:04.57\00:10:05.90 I used that process in my search. 00:10:05.93\00:10:08.10 It's called the Pan process. 00:10:08.14\00:10:10.47 Pan means going across like the Pan American Airlines 00:10:10.51\00:10:13.71 or the Pan African Games. 00:10:13.74\00:10:15.31 You don't stay on one side. 00:10:15.34\00:10:16.68 In other words, whenever there is a controversial topic, 00:10:16.71\00:10:19.55 look at both, not just one. 00:10:19.58\00:10:22.38 So you go across. 00:10:22.42\00:10:23.75 Pan also refers to the process of sifting like those 00:10:23.79\00:10:27.39 who pan for gold during the gold rush. 00:10:27.42\00:10:30.53 That's the process in which you move away 00:10:30.56\00:10:33.50 from the ordinary and keep the special nuggets, 00:10:33.53\00:10:36.56 in this case, nuggets of knowledge. 00:10:36.60\00:10:38.90 And the third was what you just mentioned, 00:10:38.93\00:10:41.74 the first three letters of my family name Pandit. 00:10:41.77\00:10:45.04 That's because, I really formulated that 00:10:45.07\00:10:49.88 because I wanted to be fair in what I was doing 00:10:49.91\00:10:52.51 so that it would give me satisfaction that what I did 00:10:52.55\00:10:55.92 was really balanced and fair. 00:10:55.95\00:10:57.49 So the Pan process looks at any option out there 00:10:57.52\00:11:01.79 that people can bring, and we look at all the theories 00:11:01.82\00:11:05.26 and look at them equally. 00:11:05.29\00:11:06.63 Okay. 00:11:06.66\00:11:08.00 So you look at, such as the theory 00:11:08.03\00:11:10.90 or the belief in the existence of God 00:11:10.93\00:11:13.17 and then you look at the pros and the cons, right? 00:11:13.20\00:11:15.47 You look at both sides and you do the same thing 00:11:15.50\00:11:17.21 with atheism pros and cons 00:11:17.24\00:11:19.47 and you put it all out on the table. 00:11:19.51\00:11:21.21 And you explore the different options 00:11:21.24\00:11:23.48 and take a close look at them? 00:11:23.51\00:11:25.11 That's exactly. 00:11:25.15\00:11:26.48 And once you see that there's at least one thing 00:11:26.51\00:11:29.12 you'll have to agree that the attempt 00:11:29.15\00:11:31.25 is to be absolutely fair and even balanced. 00:11:31.29\00:11:35.22 Okay. 00:11:35.26\00:11:36.59 And in your books you mentioned, 00:11:36.62\00:11:37.99 and we've discussed this that bias is a big issue 00:11:38.03\00:11:43.97 in one's ability to candidly 00:11:44.00\00:11:48.24 look at the options. 00:11:48.27\00:11:49.60 Just comment on that a little bit? 00:11:49.64\00:11:51.87 Well, it's common. 00:11:51.91\00:11:53.98 And the best thing to do when something is that common 00:11:54.01\00:11:56.54 is to acknowledge it. 00:11:56.58\00:11:57.91 So once you confess that you are bias, you address it. 00:11:57.95\00:12:01.58 And the way you address it is to say, "Actually, 00:12:01.62\00:12:03.55 I don't want to be biased." 00:12:03.59\00:12:05.75 And so we make a conscious decision 00:12:05.79\00:12:07.66 of not being biased but that's not easy. 00:12:07.69\00:12:10.19 So I formulated the next step. 00:12:10.23\00:12:13.09 If you really want to stay as an inquirer who is even 00:12:13.13\00:12:17.47 and fair, then you need help 00:12:17.50\00:12:20.20 and what you need, and the factors that help you 00:12:20.24\00:12:23.54 are four, humility, honesty, 00:12:23.57\00:12:27.18 calmness and respect. 00:12:27.21\00:12:29.74 If we employ all these four, I think we'll get 00:12:29.78\00:12:33.48 to the closest point of being as unbiased as possible. 00:12:33.52\00:12:37.19 As possible, and we can make progress. 00:12:37.22\00:12:39.15 Yes. 00:12:39.19\00:12:40.52 In an honest discussion without, 00:12:40.56\00:12:42.69 you know, having to bang each other over the head 00:12:42.72\00:12:44.83 because we don't agree with each other. 00:12:44.86\00:12:46.19 We can try to put our biases aside 00:12:46.23\00:12:47.96 and we can have an honest humble conversation. 00:12:48.00\00:12:52.20 And if you speak to one, he knows that 00:12:52.23\00:12:54.37 you are attempting to be unbiased, 00:12:54.40\00:12:57.14 so he respects and gives you credibility. 00:12:57.17\00:13:01.88 Talk to us a little bit about Charles Darwin. 00:13:01.91\00:13:04.58 I know you mentioned, you talked about Darwin 00:13:04.61\00:13:06.98 in your book, your first book, especially. 00:13:07.02\00:13:09.58 And I read that book twice. 00:13:09.62\00:13:11.92 There was so much information and we know, 00:13:11.95\00:13:15.99 everybody knows that Darwin is a major force 00:13:16.02\00:13:21.30 when it comes to the issue of evolution. 00:13:21.33\00:13:25.10 And I found some of the things that you said were extremely, 00:13:25.13\00:13:29.10 just enlightening. 00:13:29.14\00:13:30.64 So just talk to us a little about Darwin? 00:13:30.67\00:13:33.31 First of all, Charles Darwin, we should give him 00:13:33.34\00:13:36.14 the credit that is due to him. 00:13:36.18\00:13:38.35 He honestly wanted to be a true scientist. 00:13:38.38\00:13:43.39 He tried to put things together in such a way 00:13:43.42\00:13:45.29 that it would make scientific sense. 00:13:45.32\00:13:48.29 And so if you read the book, and by the way 00:13:48.32\00:13:50.06 I have read that book at least six times 00:13:50.09\00:13:52.69 before I started even jotting down 00:13:52.73\00:13:54.53 my comments on that book. 00:13:54.56\00:13:56.20 And that's Origin of Species. 00:13:56.23\00:13:57.57 Origin of Species, because it's not easy 00:13:57.60\00:14:01.04 to go through it with just one reading, 00:14:01.07\00:14:04.27 you go through it and read it again. 00:14:04.31\00:14:05.64 I read it about five or six times. 00:14:05.67\00:14:07.58 I appreciated his attempt at being a scientist. 00:14:07.61\00:14:12.65 If you read the book, he will clearly tell you 00:14:12.68\00:14:15.95 this is what he means to find. 00:14:15.98\00:14:18.69 This is what he was setting out to do 00:14:18.72\00:14:20.99 and this is what he did not do. 00:14:21.02\00:14:24.36 In the book, the point really being 00:14:24.39\00:14:26.96 that as a scientist he really put that down. 00:14:27.00\00:14:29.53 So if we today read it, we should be able to see 00:14:29.56\00:14:32.60 what he was trying to do and what he was unable to do. 00:14:32.63\00:14:35.64 The problem today is that people take the place 00:14:35.67\00:14:38.37 that, the point that he was not able to do, 00:14:38.41\00:14:41.48 and state that he did it. 00:14:41.51\00:14:43.38 And what was that point? 00:14:43.41\00:14:45.01 The point was that he stated very clearly that he wanted 00:14:45.05\00:14:49.62 all the classification, the biological classification 00:14:49.65\00:14:54.99 to have occurred by itself. 00:14:55.02\00:14:59.19 That was his aim, and he got it from 00:14:59.23\00:15:02.53 his own work in breeding experiments. 00:15:02.56\00:15:05.53 And he bred a lot of stuff. 00:15:05.57\00:15:07.80 I mean horses and pigeons and sheep, and even plants. 00:15:07.84\00:15:12.31 And from that he realized that you could possibly get 00:15:12.34\00:15:16.08 a form or an organism 00:15:16.11\00:15:17.78 that was better than the previous one 00:15:17.81\00:15:19.41 by just interbreeding. 00:15:19.45\00:15:21.18 So he extrapolated that and said, 00:15:21.22\00:15:23.95 "Oh, that is what happens in nature. 00:15:23.99\00:15:26.82 So if that happens in nature, well, we don't need God at all 00:15:26.86\00:15:30.49 to do anything out there." 00:15:30.53\00:15:32.13 However, he really believed that there was 00:15:32.16\00:15:35.76 a supernatural being because the last sentence 00:15:35.80\00:15:39.63 in his book, the last sentence, 00:15:39.67\00:15:42.64 he is making a confession 00:15:42.67\00:15:45.21 as to how life came on this earth. 00:15:45.24\00:15:46.78 And he says, "Maybe that first organism 00:15:46.81\00:15:50.48 had life breathed into it by the Creator." 00:15:50.51\00:15:56.28 That's amazing for a person who we now call as a person 00:15:56.32\00:15:59.45 who clearly shows there is no God. 00:15:59.49\00:16:01.32 No, he did believe in God. He did believe in God. 00:16:01.36\00:16:03.86 And you mentioned a little 00:16:03.89\00:16:05.79 while ago as we were talking privately 00:16:05.83\00:16:07.76 that the place of his burial is significant as well. 00:16:07.80\00:16:11.07 Yes, he was. 00:16:11.10\00:16:12.43 He's buried today in Westminster Abbey. 00:16:12.47\00:16:14.50 That's the Church of England. 00:16:14.54\00:16:15.87 The fact is he went to church every week. 00:16:15.90\00:16:19.54 He was a good church goer. 00:16:19.57\00:16:22.08 And he wrote to one of his friends 00:16:22.11\00:16:25.91 saying that when he does his experiments here, 00:16:25.95\00:16:28.68 he has one frame of mind. 00:16:28.72\00:16:30.39 But when he looks up into the sky 00:16:30.42\00:16:32.39 and into the whole universe and cosmos, he says, 00:16:32.42\00:16:35.66 "Hard to believe that it came by itself." 00:16:35.69\00:16:38.29 In fact, he says, "It compels him to look 00:16:38.33\00:16:40.70 to a first cause that had a mind 00:16:40.73\00:16:43.50 that was similar to a human mind." 00:16:43.53\00:16:45.90 And he says, "Well, if that's the case, 00:16:45.93\00:16:48.64 I deserve to be called a believer." 00:16:48.67\00:16:52.67 And you explore more of this in the 13 Part Series? 00:16:52.71\00:16:55.61 More of what he really says, and especially 00:16:55.64\00:16:58.38 whether what he says can meet the criteria of it being truly 00:16:58.41\00:17:02.78 a scientific theory. 00:17:02.82\00:17:04.55 You mean the movement from selective breeding 00:17:04.59\00:17:07.49 to natural selection? 00:17:07.52\00:17:09.42 Oh, yeah, that's a really big point 00:17:09.46\00:17:12.03 because he says in breeding, 00:17:12.06\00:17:14.23 he established the absolute importance 00:17:14.26\00:17:19.20 of the presence of the breeder. 00:17:19.23\00:17:22.40 Then when he goes to the nature, 00:17:22.44\00:17:25.21 inexplicably, he leaves out the breeder. 00:17:25.24\00:17:28.41 There is no breeder there. So that was my question. 00:17:28.44\00:17:31.75 Did you find the breeder out there? 00:17:31.78\00:17:33.45 And when you read the whole book, 00:17:33.48\00:17:34.82 actually there is no breeder. 00:17:34.85\00:17:36.28 He puts natural selection in the place of the breeder 00:17:36.32\00:17:40.12 but a breeder is alive and he can think 00:17:40.16\00:17:43.16 and take action and choose. 00:17:43.19\00:17:45.69 Natural selection is just a... is an idea. 00:17:45.73\00:17:49.96 An Idea doesn't have life 00:17:50.00\00:17:51.77 and make perceptions and conceptions. 00:17:51.80\00:17:55.07 So that was I thought a big drawback to the way 00:17:55.10\00:17:59.94 in which he tried to put those two together. 00:17:59.97\00:18:02.18 Okay. Now you've done... 00:18:02.21\00:18:03.91 As you mentioned, you've done a lot of traveling. 00:18:03.95\00:18:05.68 Where have your travels taken 00:18:05.71\00:18:07.28 you as you've discussed these issues? 00:18:07.32\00:18:09.82 My main audience has been actually 00:18:09.85\00:18:12.55 on secular university campuses. 00:18:12.59\00:18:17.49 I speak to mixed audiences of all kinds of people 00:18:17.53\00:18:20.63 when they come, and we have a good work. 00:18:20.66\00:18:22.73 So I have been to quite a few universities. 00:18:22.76\00:18:26.63 Such as? 00:18:26.67\00:18:28.00 Such as, well, Boston claims 00:18:28.04\00:18:31.17 that is the intellectual capital of the world, 00:18:31.21\00:18:33.61 and I've been there eight times. 00:18:33.64\00:18:35.58 Four times to MIT, it's arguably one of the best 00:18:35.61\00:18:40.02 technological universities in the world. 00:18:40.05\00:18:41.95 We still have Nobel Laureates coming out from there. 00:18:41.98\00:18:45.35 Harvard, Duke, UNC Chapel Hill, 00:18:45.39\00:18:49.86 Michigan Tech, Georgia Tech, 00:18:49.89\00:18:53.29 University of Florida 00:18:53.33\00:18:54.80 and now to the West to UC Davis in California. 00:18:54.83\00:18:58.20 So I've been all over the United States, 00:18:58.23\00:19:00.64 and also around the world, been to five continents 00:19:00.67\00:19:03.61 on just invitation mainly to the university campuses. 00:19:03.64\00:19:07.98 So how do you get invited to these campuses? 00:19:08.01\00:19:11.21 Well, most of the places they have student clubs, 00:19:11.25\00:19:14.28 which are connected and registered 00:19:14.32\00:19:16.35 with the university. 00:19:16.38\00:19:17.72 And student clubs are allowed to call whatever, 00:19:17.75\00:19:20.92 whoever they want to as speakers. 00:19:20.96\00:19:22.49 And so, when they have heard about me, 00:19:22.52\00:19:26.49 they call me as a speaker to these student clubs 00:19:26.53\00:19:29.06 and they call the other students 00:19:29.10\00:19:30.83 to come and hear me. 00:19:30.87\00:19:32.20 And you told me that what you enjoy most 00:19:32.23\00:19:34.20 about those discussions is not just your lecture 00:19:34.24\00:19:36.84 but it's the Q and A. 00:19:36.87\00:19:38.21 Q and A is the place where you can have 00:19:38.24\00:19:40.64 a real back and forth. 00:19:40.68\00:19:43.45 And I enjoy that the most because that's where the people 00:19:43.48\00:19:46.72 ask their real questions. 00:19:46.75\00:19:48.68 And I just enjoy being asked a question, 00:19:48.72\00:19:52.75 whether I can answer it or not because it makes me think. 00:19:52.79\00:19:57.09 And that's what I keep telling them. 00:19:57.13\00:19:58.49 In fact, the most common response 00:19:58.53\00:20:02.20 when I have finished my seminar at the university campuses, 00:20:02.23\00:20:06.33 they will come up and tell me, "Man, you made me think." 00:20:06.37\00:20:09.90 And I say, "Good, that's all I want you to do." 00:20:09.94\00:20:12.77 Can you share any just quick interesting experience? 00:20:12.81\00:20:16.61 Yeah. I was at MIT. 00:20:16.64\00:20:20.58 We had a discussion with the atheistic club. 00:20:20.62\00:20:23.28 They sent their representative and he wanted a debate. 00:20:23.32\00:20:28.42 I usually prefer to have a discussion. 00:20:28.46\00:20:30.29 He said a debate. So I said, "Okay." 00:20:30.33\00:20:32.03 He spoke for half an hour. 00:20:32.06\00:20:33.40 I spoke for half an hour, 00:20:33.43\00:20:34.86 and then we questioned each other 00:20:34.90\00:20:36.36 and then we threw open the discussion to the floor. 00:20:36.40\00:20:39.87 There was a Chinese girl, who had just come from China, 00:20:39.90\00:20:43.27 joined MIT, who in her background 00:20:43.30\00:20:46.04 was a complete total atheist, 00:20:46.07\00:20:48.54 did not even know how to describe God at all. 00:20:48.58\00:20:53.01 And she had come there being confused about 00:20:53.05\00:20:56.55 why people in America go to church? 00:20:56.58\00:20:58.69 And why do they pray to God? 00:20:58.72\00:21:02.26 Well, she came to the discussion we had, 00:21:02.29\00:21:05.29 the actual debate, and she was one of the, 00:21:05.33\00:21:07.66 in the audience. 00:21:07.70\00:21:09.06 And when it was all over, she said, 00:21:09.10\00:21:11.03 "I want to speak to him," meaning me. 00:21:11.07\00:21:12.80 She came and sat down and said, 00:21:12.83\00:21:14.17 "You know I've been an atheist my whole life. 00:21:14.20\00:21:17.17 In fact, I did not even know 00:21:17.21\00:21:19.34 the words to use to ask my questions. 00:21:19.37\00:21:23.01 And when I was sitting here, you were putting on the screen 00:21:23.04\00:21:25.98 the very questions I had and you answered them." 00:21:26.01\00:21:29.18 And then she looked at me and she said, 00:21:29.22\00:21:31.09 "I am no longer an atheist 00:21:31.12\00:21:33.05 because the points you made seem credible and reasonable." 00:21:33.09\00:21:36.69 Wow! 00:26:29.85\00:26:35.16 If He's a King on this earth, 00:26:35.19\00:26:36.52 we'd say, "Hey, wow, wonderful." 00:26:36.56\00:26:38.26 He's not just a King, He's God. 00:26:38.29\00:26:40.66 So in other words, 00:26:40.70\00:26:42.03 the attributes of His are omnipotent, 00:26:42.06\00:26:44.63 that means all powerful. 00:26:44.67\00:26:46.00 He knows everything. 00:26:46.03\00:26:47.37 He has everything in His hands. 00:26:47.40\00:26:48.74 If He's loving and He is on your side, 00:26:48.77\00:26:51.24 your life is just stable. 00:26:51.27\00:26:54.14 That's right. Well, thank you. 00:26:54.18\00:26:55.71 Thank you so much. 00:26:55.74\00:26:57.31 And so if you are interested 00:26:57.35\00:27:00.95 in learning more about this discussion, 00:27:00.98\00:27:03.08 this conversation, 00:27:03.12\00:27:04.45 looking at the evidence for and against and learning more 00:27:04.49\00:27:08.06 what Subodh Pandit has to say, 00:27:08.09\00:27:11.03 and we encourage you to go to the website, 00:27:11.06\00:27:14.36 godfactorfiction.com 00:27:14.40\00:27:17.67 And come, search with us and see 00:27:17.70\00:27:20.37 where the journey will take you. 00:27:20.40\00:27:22.74 You might be surprised that it will be good for you. 00:27:22.77\00:27:27.31 If you have enjoyed this presentation 00:27:27.34\00:27:29.18 with Dr. Subodh Pandit 00:27:29.21\00:27:30.88 and wish to watch more of this unique 13 Part Series 00:27:30.91\00:27:34.15 for free online. 00:27:34.18\00:27:35.98 Visit the website, godfactorfiction.com 00:27:36.02\00:27:39.75 That's godfactorfiction.com 00:27:39.79\00:27:42.76 If you would like to order this fascinating series on DVD, 00:27:42.79\00:27:45.76 it is now available from White Horse Media. 00:27:45.79\00:27:48.43 To order from within the US 00:27:48.46\00:27:50.07 call 1-800-782-4253. 00:27:50.10\00:27:55.17 Dr. Subodh Pandit has written two eye-opening books entitled, 00:27:55.20\00:27:59.37 Come Search With Me, Does God really Exist? 00:27:59.41\00:28:02.41 And Come Search with Me, The Weight of Evidence, 00:28:02.44\00:28:05.48 which further explore the topics of evolution, 00:28:05.51\00:28:08.18 theism, atheism and religion. 00:28:08.22\00:28:10.82 To order these books from within the US, 00:28:10.85\00:28:13.12 call 1-800-782-4253. 00:28:13.15\00:28:16.66 That's 1-800-782-4253. 00:28:16.69\00:28:20.96 If you live outside the US, 00:28:21.00\00:28:22.33 you may also easily order them on amazon.com 00:28:22.36\00:28:25.87
