Now, I am going to
review very quickly,

Canaan represents heaven

and the journey
across the wilderness

represents the period between

when we left the world

and when we enter
the heavenly kingdom.

Now, it's important to recognize

then that the history of Israel

is really a
microcosm of our experience.

It is a model in
miniature of the experience

that God's people go
through that God's church

will go through as we
approach the Promised Land.

They had no merit to offer God

they were living in idolatry,

but in their great need

of their experience.

Burying their old life
and resurrecting to a new life

wilderness to cross

of the people of Israel

to God in desperation.

and God through Jesus

worked out our salvation.

He did it for us even
though we didn't deserve it.

Free grace is what

they were not made God's people

because of their obedience

has escaped from the plagues.

God was blessing Israel.

And so they left Egypt

but Egypt was very
much in their hearts still.

The Spirit of Prophecy
