II Timothy chapter 2 and verse 15 states: 00:00:02.86\00:00:05.40 "Study to show thyself approved unto God, 00:00:05.80\00:00:08.60 a workman that needeth not be ashamed 00:00:08.80\00:00:10.77 rightly dividing the word of truth. " 00:00:10.97\00:00:13.27 Hi... I'm Rico Hill, the host of From Sickness to Health. 00:00:13.48\00:00:16.24 And this is... Sickness, blue guy, yada, yada, yada. 00:00:16.44\00:00:19.88 Take this. OK... we're going to settle something 00:00:20.08\00:00:21.95 right here and now. I've been doing a lot of homework 00:00:22.15\00:00:25.62 doing some, you know, research... EXTENSIVE research. 00:00:25.82\00:00:29.86 I have thought long and hard about this. 00:00:30.06\00:00:32.59 And so I've had the team gather your foods and my foods 00:00:32.89\00:00:36.87 and today we are going to read some labels, OK? 00:00:37.07\00:00:40.14 All right. OK... so, um, 00:00:40.34\00:00:41.94 I'm going to just read the items list on mine 00:00:42.24\00:00:46.71 and just... for what purpose? 00:00:46.91\00:00:48.24 The purpose is: you say "less is better, " 00:00:48.28\00:00:51.65 so we're going to see which foods have fewer ingredients. 00:00:52.05\00:00:55.65 OK. All right. You want me to go first? 00:00:55.85\00:00:58.85 No, no, no... the kid goes first. 00:00:59.05\00:01:01.19 Sugar, enriched flour, 00:01:04.39\00:01:06.93 wheat flour, niacin, reduced iron, 00:01:07.13\00:01:09.30 thiamine mononitrate... 00:01:09.50\00:01:11.10 Oh these cookies sound good. Riboflavin, folic a... 00:01:11.30\00:01:14.14 I'm going to stop right there. 00:01:14.34\00:01:15.67 You could have kept going though, huh? 00:01:17.01\00:01:18.34 I could have kept going. All right. 00:01:18.71\00:01:20.21 I'll just go to mine now: Fuji apple. 00:01:20.61\00:01:24.85 OK, go on... read the ingredients. The sugars, 00:01:25.05\00:01:27.22 the fibers... all that. No, no, no, no. 00:01:27.42\00:01:28.85 The sugars and the fiber... they all go together. 00:01:29.05\00:01:30.79 They work together so you don't have to read any list. 00:01:30.99\00:01:32.85 Oh... wait a minute. Switch! 00:01:33.05\00:01:36.12 All right. You want me to read this one now? 00:01:36.52\00:01:41.96 Yes I do. Should I go first? Yes. 00:01:42.16\00:01:44.43 All right... here we go. Let's see: cereal. 00:01:44.63\00:01:47.44 Some kind of blueberry cereal. 00:01:47.64\00:01:49.10 It's got flour, lots of sugar. 00:01:49.30\00:01:52.21 Artificial color, artificial this... flavors. 00:01:52.61\00:01:56.64 High fructose... And I have a banana. 00:01:56.85\00:02:00.22 Clearly fewer ingredients. 00:02:00.62\00:02:03.82 Wait a minute. So why don't you just eat those 00:02:04.22\00:02:07.19 instead of the food item that has 100 different ingredients 00:02:07.59\00:02:11.29 that you always are promoting and can't even pronounce? 00:02:11.49\00:02:14.56 Maybe I will. OK then! 00:02:14.86\00:02:17.80 I mean I WON'T! Wait... what just happened? 00:02:18.00\00:02:20.90 Are you sure you thought this whole thing through? 00:02:23.07\00:02:25.27 Did you think? I mean, all the extensive research? 00:02:25.47\00:02:28.01 OK... whatever. Look, today we're going to talk about 00:02:28.41\00:02:31.55 food labels and how you can become an educated consumer. 00:02:31.75\00:02:35.75 Roll it. Good research. 00:02:36.25\00:02:39.22 This isn't over! 00:02:39.52\00:02:41.32 Thank you so much for joining us here in the studio of 00:03:17.96\00:03:20.36 From Sickness To Health. You're going to be so glad that 00:03:20.56\00:03:22.46 you are sticking around. We have a wonderful program 00:03:22.66\00:03:25.30 for you today. We're going to be talking about 00:03:25.50\00:03:27.57 something that I'm excited about 00:03:27.77\00:03:29.20 and I know that you're excited about it, too: 00:03:29.40\00:03:31.24 we're going to talk about food. 00:03:31.44\00:03:32.77 Not just food, though. We're going to talk about 00:03:32.94\00:03:34.38 food labeling so that you can be an educated consumer. 00:03:34.58\00:03:38.78 Now before we get into the discussion which is going to be 00:03:38.98\00:03:40.98 lively, you're going to enjoy our guests, 00:03:41.18\00:03:42.95 let's say hello to our friend, our co-host Sickness. 00:03:43.15\00:03:47.26 What have you got goin' on? 00:03:47.56\00:03:48.89 Why hello Rico! I'm here at the food label factory 00:03:48.92\00:03:53.23 where our motto is: if you can't pronounce it 00:03:53.43\00:03:55.93 let's announce it! So my goal today is 00:03:56.13\00:03:58.77 overwhelm the people just like this: 00:03:58.97\00:04:00.30 look at all those labels comin' at you! 00:04:00.40\00:04:03.04 You're gonna see. All right, we'll get back to you. 00:04:03.24\00:04:05.81 I know you're going to go some- where, maybe in a science lab 00:04:06.01\00:04:07.44 somewhere to cook up something. 00:04:07.64\00:04:08.98 But in the meantime, let's say hello to our guests. 00:04:09.18\00:04:11.21 We're excited about our guests today. 00:04:11.41\00:04:13.21 We have with us Dr. Yvonne Lewis 00:04:13.42\00:04:16.32 who is a naturopathic doctor but also the general manager 00:04:16.52\00:04:19.85 of this network. And we're so happy for you to be with us 00:04:20.06\00:04:23.43 to give us your insight. Well thank you; I'm so glad 00:04:23.63\00:04:25.79 to be here! Ah, we're excited; we're excited. 00:04:25.99\00:04:27.73 And also we have with us Dr. Thomas Jackson 00:04:27.93\00:04:30.30 who's been on the program before. He is a doctor 00:04:30.50\00:04:33.30 of natural health sciences but also the head of the ministry 00:04:33.50\00:04:36.87 M.E.E.T. Ministry in Huntingdon, Tennessee. 00:04:37.07\00:04:39.94 He's going to talk to us more about that and how they deal 00:04:40.34\00:04:42.44 with this whole food thing. Welcome to the program. 00:04:42.64\00:04:44.31 Thank you. And with him his bride by his side. 00:04:44.51\00:04:47.75 I don't think he goes anywhere without her... and he shouldn't. 00:04:47.95\00:04:50.19 He's here with his lovely wife Dr. Laverne Jackson. 00:04:50.39\00:04:53.86 She is a doctor of nutritional sciences. 00:04:54.06\00:04:57.29 Welcome to the program. Thank you. 00:04:57.49\00:04:59.06 Now as we get started here I want to just sort of set 00:04:59.26\00:05:03.40 the tone. Food has changed. 00:05:03.60\00:05:06.53 Food has changed so much that we have to label it. 00:05:06.74\00:05:10.14 But is this a good thing? Is it a good thing to label our food? 00:05:10.54\00:05:14.94 Just a little history on food. Food used to be simple. 00:05:15.14\00:05:19.08 It came right from the ground. Is that right? That's right. 00:05:19.48\00:05:22.18 From the garden. Straight from the garden 00:05:22.38\00:05:24.02 and you didn't need any labels. We find that toward the end 00:05:24.22\00:05:28.49 of the 1700's something dramatic happened 00:05:28.69\00:05:31.39 to our food: it began to change. 00:05:31.59\00:05:34.00 Processed food began to be produced. 00:05:34.20\00:05:37.17 It was a man by the name of Nicholas Appert. 00:05:37.37\00:05:41.30 He was commissioned by Napoleon Bonaparte 00:05:41.50\00:05:44.04 to preserve meat while the troops were in battle. 00:05:44.24\00:05:48.08 And this began bottling food. 00:05:48.28\00:05:51.98 Then you had a man by the name of Peter Durant. 00:05:52.18\00:05:55.62 He was an Englishman, and he began to can bottles 00:05:55.82\00:06:00.22 or put a protective tin can around bottles. 00:06:00.42\00:06:04.33 And then canning was born in 1821. 00:06:04.59\00:06:08.10 Um-hmm. And then we see that William Underwood... 00:06:08.40\00:06:12.83 William Underwood: he was someone who began to preserve 00:06:13.03\00:06:16.20 a lot of the fruits and vegetables, frozen fruits and 00:06:16.40\00:06:18.91 vegetables. And we had a whole paradigm shift 00:06:19.11\00:06:22.84 in the way that we treated our foods. 00:06:23.04\00:06:25.98 And now it is necessary to label those foods. 00:06:26.18\00:06:29.95 Labels such as fat free, sugar free. 00:06:30.15\00:06:34.09 But is it fat free? Come on now. 00:06:34.39\00:06:37.86 So now that's where we want to start today. 00:06:38.06\00:06:40.00 What's going on with the labeling? How can we trust them? 00:06:40.20\00:06:43.47 What's all the wording and the things that we can't pronounce? 00:06:43.67\00:06:46.13 Umm... that's interesting. You know, when you said labeling 00:06:46.33\00:06:49.44 for what purpose do they do that? #1, since it started with 00:06:49.64\00:06:53.11 additives and preservatives it was supposed to be to protect 00:06:53.31\00:06:56.18 the consumer and also to put restriction upon those who 00:06:56.38\00:07:01.48 were manufacturing food from putting adulterated ingredients 00:07:01.68\00:07:05.69 into the product. Um-hmm! So the idea was to protect 00:07:05.89\00:07:09.26 the consumer and to prevent any adulterated ingredients 00:07:09.46\00:07:11.99 from going into the product. Whether that worked or not - 00:07:12.19\00:07:14.36 we see the results today - is not. 00:07:14.56\00:07:17.33 It is not. In fact, we find that during the 1970's... 00:07:17.53\00:07:20.74 we find in the 1970's there was so much fat and salt 00:07:20.94\00:07:26.31 in the food and they began to... the government 00:07:26.51\00:07:30.75 actually commissioned the FDA to begin to do something 00:07:30.95\00:07:34.62 because the food was just causing so much disease 00:07:34.92\00:07:38.49 and so much sickness that... Did you hear that? Sickness? 00:07:38.69\00:07:42.09 Sickness! So much sickness that there had to be a change 00:07:42.29\00:07:45.39 in the way that we were labeling food. As you just pointed out, 00:07:45.59\00:07:47.96 Dr. Jackson. And then they got together 00:07:48.16\00:07:51.60 in closed doors and board rooms and they decided 00:07:51.80\00:07:55.54 "What are we going to do? " And they found a way 00:07:55.74\00:07:58.87 to begin to use more salt - oh dear! - 00:07:59.07\00:08:03.14 less fat... but more salt and more sugar. 00:08:03.35\00:08:07.32 Um-hmm. In fact, this has been the bane of our existence: 00:08:07.62\00:08:11.59 added sugars and lots of fat. 00:08:11.79\00:08:14.32 So when we're looking at labels let's look at some of this 00:08:14.52\00:08:17.23 as we're talking about this. You know, one of the things, 00:08:17.43\00:08:20.16 Rico, that we really need to look at is the fact that 00:08:20.36\00:08:23.87 when people go in the store they're just looking at the 00:08:24.07\00:08:27.20 packaging - um-hmm - but not reading the label... 00:08:27.40\00:08:29.94 so really not knowing what they're getting. 00:08:30.14\00:08:33.48 So people just assume that since it's in the store 00:08:33.68\00:08:37.11 I can eat it. So they see something... and packaging... 00:08:37.31\00:08:40.45 There's a lot of subliminal messaging in packaging. 00:08:40.65\00:08:43.59 People... It's a psychology behind... well, on Madison Ave. 00:08:43.79\00:08:48.26 You know, the commercials and all that. There's a psychology 00:08:48.46\00:08:51.59 behind the food packaging. So they will package it in 00:08:51.79\00:08:55.06 certain colors and all that drawing people's attention 00:08:55.26\00:08:58.57 to it. When they draw your attention to it... 00:08:58.77\00:09:00.90 They have certain things at eye level or just below at 00:09:01.10\00:09:04.11 children's eye level. So the kids will take it, dump it into 00:09:04.31\00:09:08.01 the cart, and the parents don't even know what they're getting 00:09:08.21\00:09:12.18 because they're not reading the labels. 00:09:12.38\00:09:15.08 It can be argued, you know, that some of it's not even 00:09:15.28\00:09:18.59 really food, is it? No! It's not food! 00:09:18.79\00:09:21.96 We're going to go ahead and make that statement, and we're 00:09:22.16\00:09:23.49 going to make a rule... I'm going to set a rule right now... 00:09:23.56\00:09:25.73 don't ever believe anything on the front of a box. 00:09:25.93\00:09:30.07 It's all marketing... it's all marketing. 00:09:30.57\00:09:32.70 Now having come from a market- ing and television background 00:09:32.90\00:09:36.04 I saw so much of how to take those cereal boxes... 00:09:36.24\00:09:41.54 Yeah? It must be important. It must make a lot of money 00:09:41.84\00:09:44.55 because they devote an entire aisle to them, right? 00:09:44.75\00:09:48.58 Absolutely! And you're right about that: 00:09:48.78\00:09:50.12 they put things eye level... especially for the kids. 00:09:50.15\00:09:53.56 That's right. And the worst ones with the most sugar 00:09:53.76\00:09:55.79 are at eye level for the young kids. 00:09:55.99\00:09:57.73 It's all a strategy, and we have to be aware of that. 00:09:58.03\00:10:01.33 But let's check in real quick. I know you've got something 00:10:01.53\00:10:03.87 Dr. Jackson that you want to add to after this. That's all right. 00:10:04.07\00:10:05.40 We're going to come to you in a second, but let's go check in 00:10:05.43\00:10:07.94 with Sickness and see where he is. Where are you, Sickness? 00:10:08.14\00:10:10.74 Thank you Rico. You'd expect to find me in a kitchen... 00:10:12.37\00:10:15.98 but today I'm in a laboratory. 00:10:16.18\00:10:20.42 Because I'm here with professionals and we've been 00:10:20.62\00:10:22.58 doing some research really see- ing what's going on with food. 00:10:22.78\00:10:27.19 And the amazing thing is that science is showing that 00:10:27.59\00:10:31.23 science has figured a way to make food taste better 00:10:31.43\00:10:35.23 and sweeter. Let's take cereal for example. 00:10:35.53\00:10:39.57 Now most people think cereal's pretty healthy... 00:10:39.97\00:10:42.17 but you and I know different. It's chock full of sugar 00:10:42.57\00:10:45.77 and replacement berries. 00:10:45.97\00:10:48.04 So somebody's walking down the aisle and they see that 00:10:48.44\00:10:51.11 beautiful picture of what looks like a blueberry. 00:10:51.31\00:10:54.88 It's right on the box of cereal! 00:10:55.08\00:10:57.39 But it's not a blueberry. See, this is the genius of science: 00:10:57.79\00:11:02.46 It's a replacement berry. These berries last 100 years! 00:11:02.86\00:11:08.83 That's right! And they're just as sweet. 00:11:09.23\00:11:11.13 So let's leave the food to the scientists 00:11:11.33\00:11:14.70 because people aren't reading labels anyway. 00:11:14.90\00:11:18.84 Stop worrying about it. Back to you, Rico. 00:11:19.24\00:11:22.08 I think the suggestion was that we just leave it to the 00:11:33.72\00:11:36.22 scientists. That's right. Should we just leave it to 00:11:36.42\00:11:38.29 the scientists? You know this is definitely how we see 00:11:38.49\00:11:41.86 the mindset has changed where we have total confidence 00:11:42.06\00:11:45.37 in science and those who control our food industry. 00:11:45.57\00:11:49.50 And so it's like the blind leading the blind. 00:11:49.90\00:11:52.27 And so you find like in Deuteronomy chapter 4 00:11:52.67\00:11:55.91 there's a statement, verse 2. Deuteronomy chapter 4. 00:11:56.11\00:11:58.41 And it's very interesting that Sickness is in a laboratory. 00:11:58.61\00:12:01.32 And in Deuteronomy chapter 4... We're talking about food 00:12:01.72\00:12:04.59 labeling and preservatives and additives. 00:12:04.79\00:12:07.36 And in verse 2 notice what the great Chemist said. 00:12:07.76\00:12:11.39 The chief Chemist. The chief Chemist... God Himself. 00:12:11.59\00:12:14.73 The master Scientist. The supreme Scientist. 00:12:14.93\00:12:17.00 He warns us here... He warns us. He says here in verse 2: 00:12:17.20\00:12:19.53 "You should not add unto the word which I command you. " 00:12:19.73\00:12:23.04 Then He says: "Neither should you diminish ought from it 00:12:23.24\00:12:26.68 that you might keep the command- ments of the Lord your God 00:12:26.88\00:12:29.88 which I command you. " Not add or take away. 00:12:30.08\00:12:33.11 Now even in the turn of the century they had a condition 00:12:33.52\00:12:36.28 called beriberi. Beri-beri. B-E-R-I B-E-R-I. 00:12:36.48\00:12:42.09 And it affected the whole physiogical makeup of people. 00:12:42.29\00:12:45.73 Bone problems, etc. 00:12:45.93\00:12:47.93 And the reason they ended up with beri-beri is the fact that 00:12:48.13\00:12:50.77 they began to process the foods. OK? 00:12:50.97\00:12:54.20 And they stripped the grains... whole grains... 00:12:54.40\00:12:57.64 of 81-something nutrients. You have the germ, 00:12:57.84\00:13:01.51 you have the endosperm, you have the bran. 00:13:01.91\00:13:04.28 So you remove the bran and you feed the bran 00:13:04.48\00:13:08.45 to the animals. You take the germ. 00:13:08.65\00:13:11.12 You remove 81 nutrients you've got endosperm, so now 00:13:11.32\00:13:13.56 you've got a white product. So you're losing nutrients. 00:13:13.76\00:13:16.69 So you end up with a deficiency called beri-beri 00:13:16.89\00:13:20.00 which is a result of thiamine. So what they did 00:13:20.20\00:13:23.70 in the laboratory instead of giving the whole food 00:13:23.90\00:13:27.14 they went into the laboratory and they add synthetic thiamine 00:13:27.34\00:13:30.67 to it. So every time you look at a product 00:13:30.87\00:13:33.91 on the counter or from your store - white flour - you see 00:13:34.11\00:13:36.95 thiamine... B1... added. 00:13:37.15\00:13:39.21 Now Rico, if you had $20 in your pocket... 00:13:39.41\00:13:43.69 um-hmm - I reached out and took the $20 out 00:13:43.89\00:13:46.15 and put $10 back would you feel like you've been 00:13:46.35\00:13:49.62 enriched... or ripped off? 00:13:49.82\00:13:52.53 Sickness would be OK with that but I wouldn't. 00:13:52.73\00:13:54.46 So you're going to take 81 nutrients... take 81 nutrients, 00:13:54.86\00:13:58.30 put 10 back synthetically and label it it's OK? 00:13:58.50\00:14:02.27 Um-hmm. Now you predispose people to allergies and sinus 00:14:02.47\00:14:05.44 and asthma because of the synthetics. 00:14:05.64\00:14:08.18 Rico I'd like to comment on that. 00:14:08.48\00:14:10.05 We thought he would, didn't we? I thought he would. 00:14:10.35\00:14:12.55 Yes, go right ahead. You see, we live in an advanced age 00:14:12.75\00:14:16.12 and we just worked on an ingredient here called 00:14:16.32\00:14:19.22 "you should have known better mond oxide amine #5. " 00:14:19.62\00:14:22.82 And you know I really feel like things like this we need to 00:14:23.02\00:14:26.63 leave to the scientists because we have drugs now 00:14:26.83\00:14:29.76 that will treat allergies. So Dr. Jackson doesn't have to be 00:14:29.96\00:14:32.70 concerned. One step ahead... that's where science is! 00:14:32.90\00:14:35.60 So in other words according to him 00:14:36.87\00:14:38.71 if we go ahead and just have the synthetic thiamine 00:14:38.91\00:14:41.44 and it leads... or other additives, or other additives - 00:14:41.64\00:14:44.28 and there are a lot of those - right - we get sick. 00:14:44.48\00:14:47.15 We come down with some debilitating disease 00:14:47.35\00:14:49.82 or some annoying situation like allergies: 00:14:50.02\00:14:53.92 just go get a drug. Just go get a drug. 00:14:54.22\00:14:55.89 We could talk about that but we're just going to go ahead 00:14:56.09\00:14:57.76 and miss that because who wants to deal with that, right? 00:14:57.96\00:15:00.30 That's right. Now, you talk about additives. 00:15:00.50\00:15:03.50 Um-hmm. Talking about the supreme Scientist. 00:15:03.70\00:15:06.53 What kind of additives do we have in this beautiful 00:15:06.94\00:15:11.04 red pepper? You know, the Bible says in Matthew 19:6 00:15:11.24\00:15:15.81 "What God has joined together let no man tear asunder. " 00:15:16.01\00:15:18.45 Come on. Um-hmm. And I remember on one previous show 00:15:18.65\00:15:20.88 Dr. Lewis mentioned even in a tomato... You talk about 00:15:21.08\00:15:23.55 10,000 phytochemicals. Phytochemicals! That's right. 00:15:23.75\00:15:26.86 Now, synergistically put together that God did. 00:15:27.26\00:15:30.19 And, like you said... 00:15:30.69\00:15:33.40 It's in... There's a commercial that says: "It's in here. " 00:15:33.60\00:15:37.27 It's in there... and you don't have to read it. 00:15:37.47\00:15:41.24 The color speaks for itself, and so the additives... There's no 00:15:41.44\00:15:45.17 additives in here. It's the fact that this is the way 00:15:45.37\00:15:47.91 it's made up. The very constituency of this food 00:15:48.11\00:15:50.91 is derived from a Creator who loves us and who is concerned - 00:15:51.11\00:15:53.98 listen to this - who is concerned about our life 00:15:54.18\00:15:56.92 and not shelf life. Come on. Did you get that one? 00:15:57.12\00:15:59.89 I heard what you said. I'll even add something to that. 00:16:00.09\00:16:02.32 I always like to tell people: "The longer its shelf life 00:16:02.52\00:16:05.69 the shorter yours. " Is that true? That's right; that's true. 00:16:05.89\00:16:07.70 So we find that people... 00:16:07.90\00:16:10.23 we find that people go into a grocery store 00:16:10.43\00:16:12.43 and they go to the center aisles - um-hmm - 00:16:12.63\00:16:15.77 where things are canned, things are boxed, things are in bags, 00:16:15.97\00:16:19.97 things have been highly processed. And we're seeing that 00:16:20.18\00:16:24.11 if it's in something that you've got to rip open 00:16:24.31\00:16:27.22 with some scissors or a blade 00:16:27.42\00:16:31.45 and struggle to open it up 00:16:31.85\00:16:34.32 it's probably something you shouldn't put in your body. 00:16:34.52\00:16:37.19 That's right. Is that right? That's true! 00:16:37.39\00:16:38.89 And we find that people avoid going to the outer part 00:16:39.09\00:16:42.20 of the store. Isn't that something? Right? That's right. 00:16:42.40\00:16:44.83 Especially in some of our communities like the 00:16:45.13\00:16:48.10 African-American community where we are short on 00:16:48.30\00:16:51.77 our fruits and vegetables, our produce and so forth 00:16:51.97\00:16:54.54 but instead tend to go to those things that are very very 00:16:54.74\00:16:58.08 simple and so-called "convenient. " 00:16:58.28\00:17:01.68 But they're not very convenient, are they? No they're not. 00:17:01.88\00:17:04.02 They're not, because when you look at the conditions 00:17:04.22\00:17:06.72 that we are going to suffer with as a result of this 00:17:06.92\00:17:09.56 convenience then it's not convenient. 00:17:09.76\00:17:12.39 OK, so let's... You know, on a typical program - 00:17:12.59\00:17:16.46 I've seen it on different news programs - they'll... 00:17:16.67\00:17:18.43 they'll take you to the nutritional facts that are found 00:17:18.63\00:17:21.40 on the various things here and they'll tell you 00:17:21.60\00:17:24.07 how to read them. And it's like you'd have to do multiplication, 00:17:24.27\00:17:27.48 you've got to do division. You've got to divide it all up 00:17:27.64\00:17:29.78 and figure out how many calories and all these different things. 00:17:29.98\00:17:33.05 How can we simplify this? 00:17:33.25\00:17:34.58 I'll tell you where we're going; I'll tell you where we're going. 00:17:34.62\00:17:37.19 We're going to go to the conclusion: 00:17:37.39\00:17:40.52 that it's much easier to have less ingredients. 00:17:40.72\00:17:45.09 The less you have to read, the less you have to pronounce, 00:17:45.29\00:17:49.73 umm - the better you are. So that's where we're going. 00:17:49.93\00:17:52.43 Yes. Right? That's right. 00:17:52.63\00:17:54.10 If you have to go to a box to eat, if you're eating out of 00:17:54.30\00:17:57.77 boxes, there's a problem 00:17:57.97\00:17:59.71 because you have to read what's in there. 00:18:00.01\00:18:03.14 You need to know what you're getting, first of all. 00:18:03.55\00:18:06.05 But God has given us in these fresh fruits and vegetables 00:18:06.25\00:18:11.15 everything that's bioavailable. 00:18:11.35\00:18:13.49 Our bodies don't have to do a whole bunch of changing 00:18:13.69\00:18:16.52 and all that to eat these. 00:18:16.73\00:18:18.89 Whereas with this, there are things that are 00:18:19.29\00:18:22.60 not pronounceable. If you can't pronounce it, 00:18:22.80\00:18:25.07 it should not go into your body. 00:18:25.27\00:18:26.94 If you have to go and get a dictionary - 00:18:27.14\00:18:29.44 that's right - and begin to find out then something is wrong. 00:18:29.64\00:18:32.84 That's right; that's right. People are looking at this and 00:18:33.04\00:18:34.88 they're saying: "What's the problem? 00:18:35.08\00:18:38.11 You know it tastes good. " Aah! 00:18:38.31\00:18:41.28 "It tastes really good and this says... " 00:18:41.48\00:18:44.89 Now watch this. Let's see if you all remember what I said 00:18:45.09\00:18:47.49 the rule is... "It says here smile... it's the cheesiest. " 00:18:47.69\00:18:52.69 Right? That's marketing! 00:18:52.89\00:18:56.36 You've got to remember that they'll put anything 00:18:56.56\00:18:58.50 on the cover of the box or bag to draw you in. 00:18:58.70\00:19:02.50 And you know, some people buy it? Oh yes. Not just purchase it 00:19:02.70\00:19:06.24 but they buy into it and they'll even say it back 00:19:06.44\00:19:09.58 to you. That's right. Right? That's right. 00:19:09.78\00:19:11.48 That means that something has happened psychologically 00:19:11.68\00:19:14.22 as you mentioned in the beginning, right? 00:19:14.38\00:19:16.28 But they'll look here and, in fact, I said they'll look here. 00:19:16.48\00:19:21.26 Yes. But that's not quite true. That's right. 00:19:21.46\00:19:24.29 Rico, that's exactly right. Let me comment on that please 00:19:24.49\00:19:26.83 if I may. Go right ahead. 00:19:27.03\00:19:30.50 OK. You see, I'm going to steal a play from you on this one. 00:19:30.70\00:19:34.07 There are lots of Christians that don't read their Bibles 00:19:34.47\00:19:38.14 but take the pastor's word for it. Um-hmm. 00:19:38.34\00:19:40.81 So learning how they do that I'd like to say: 00:19:41.01\00:19:43.68 "You can trust me with your health. 00:19:43.88\00:19:46.48 Don't read the labels just like you don't read the Bible. " 00:19:46.68\00:19:49.28 You think you're quite smart, don't you? 00:19:50.82\00:19:52.72 So he just raised an interesting point. 00:19:53.82\00:19:56.29 He raised a true point. People aren't reading it and 00:19:56.49\00:19:57.99 they're trusting the scientists. They're trusting, and he draws 00:19:58.19\00:20:01.53 an analogy that we should talk about. 00:20:01.73\00:20:03.13 And that is a lot of people, they... You know, they're told 00:20:03.33\00:20:06.03 what's in here. Don't pick it up themselves, 00:20:06.23\00:20:08.74 right? They will pick it up, take it with them to church 00:20:08.94\00:20:12.94 but they don't necessarily read it themselves. 00:20:13.34\00:20:15.38 Somebody else is feeding them the information 00:20:15.58\00:20:17.58 just like the, what is it? Madison Ave. who does all the 00:20:17.78\00:20:21.58 advertising and marketing and so forth. 00:20:21.78\00:20:23.49 They're like the pastor. They're feeding people information - 00:20:23.69\00:20:27.56 come on - and they're not actually looking at what's 00:20:27.76\00:20:30.86 really going on. That's right. And that creates spiritual 00:20:31.06\00:20:33.83 sickness as well as physical sickness. Um-hmm. 00:20:34.03\00:20:37.50 So when you're not actually... As we started out with 00:20:37.70\00:20:40.80 the Word of God we shared the scripture: 00:20:41.00\00:20:43.27 "Study to show thyself approved. " Study to show 00:20:43.47\00:20:46.14 THYSELF approved! So are we making application 00:20:46.34\00:20:49.81 to even our food and our health? That's right. 00:20:50.01\00:20:53.68 We ARE making application to our food and health 00:20:53.88\00:20:56.58 in that we should actually be studying to show ourself 00:20:56.79\00:20:58.89 approved unto God because God says 00:20:59.09\00:21:02.12 in Romans chapter 12 that we are to present our bodies 00:21:02.32\00:21:06.09 a "living sacrifice. " That means a healthy sacrifice. 00:21:06.29\00:21:09.43 Can we have our bodies be a living sacrifice 00:21:09.63\00:21:12.73 if we are picking up things and not understanding what it is 00:21:13.03\00:21:18.97 we are eating? Yes, yes. 00:21:19.17\00:21:21.24 Because the conditions that we are suffering with... 00:21:21.44\00:21:23.28 Like for instance the additives... I think you missed 00:21:23.48\00:21:25.18 the question. I said CAN WE! Can our bodies be a living 00:21:25.38\00:21:29.05 sacrifice if we are picking this up 00:21:29.25\00:21:31.32 not understanding? No. OK, I wanted to make sure. 00:21:31.52\00:21:33.36 No, no... because the conditions that we are going to suffer with 00:21:33.76\00:21:37.13 are going to affect that. And our bodies will be an 00:21:37.33\00:21:40.43 unhealthy - that's right - dying sacrifice. That's right. 00:21:40.63\00:21:43.53 That's not what we want. That's not what we want, no. 00:21:43.73\00:21:45.07 I think it has to be understood that everything that we take 00:21:45.17\00:21:48.00 into the body has an effect. That's right. Whether it's a 00:21:48.20\00:21:50.74 negative effect or a positive effect - um-hmm - 00:21:50.94\00:21:53.07 on the cell. We go down to the cellular level 00:21:53.27\00:21:57.01 where every cell responds to what we put in. 00:21:57.41\00:22:01.45 The body is made up of all of these trillions of cells... 00:22:01.65\00:22:06.32 like 60 trillion cells. 00:22:06.52\00:22:08.49 And what we eat? That's all the cells have to work with. 00:22:08.69\00:22:12.89 That's right. What we eat. It makes our blood. 00:22:13.09\00:22:15.50 The blood takes the nutrients and oxygen to the cells, 00:22:15.70\00:22:18.47 so if we don't have food and we're eating junk and chemicals 00:22:18.67\00:22:22.84 that's how the body is going to respond to that. 00:22:23.04\00:22:25.81 Because its not being fed its going to starve. 00:22:26.01\00:22:29.08 So we find people that are overly fed and malnourished. 00:22:29.28\00:22:34.28 Wow! Now you just raised a few excellent points. 00:22:34.48\00:22:37.62 You talked about chemicals, and when we're talking about 00:22:37.82\00:22:39.95 processed foods we're talking about foods that are 00:22:40.16\00:22:43.06 very very high in chemicals. 00:22:43.26\00:22:45.19 When we're talking about things that you cannot pronounce 00:22:45.39\00:22:48.60 and you have to read a paragraph, a full paragraph 00:22:48.80\00:22:51.90 of things... Even when it comes down to your bread - 00:22:52.10\00:22:54.44 yeah - you find that... It blew my mind when I 00:22:54.64\00:22:57.74 picked up a loaf of bread. Yeah. And there was one that just had 00:22:57.94\00:23:00.71 just about six ingredients but then I saw another 00:23:00.91\00:23:04.78 that had about 50 ingredients. Um-hmm! 00:23:04.98\00:23:07.68 And I said: "What's so special about that bread 00:23:07.88\00:23:10.12 over the one that just had the fewer ingredients? " 00:23:10.32\00:23:12.15 Um-hmm. And it was just a lot of chemicals... 00:23:12.35\00:23:15.39 things that I really couldn't pronounce to be quite honest 00:23:15.59\00:23:17.69 with you. So we're seeing that there's a lot of chemicals 00:23:17.89\00:23:21.23 in processed foods. And you talk about the 00:23:21.43\00:23:24.37 cellular level. People don't fully understand this, 00:23:24.57\00:23:27.64 but what we eat we're not feeding our stomach, are we? 00:23:27.80\00:23:30.87 That's right. We're really feeding our cells. That's right. 00:23:31.07\00:23:33.84 If we could just understand THAT point... 00:23:34.04\00:23:36.58 If we could understand that when we are eating 00:23:36.78\00:23:39.38 the food that goes in is not just to make our stomachs 00:23:39.58\00:23:42.35 feel good but it's actually feeding us on the cellular level 00:23:42.55\00:23:46.05 and everything depends on how happy and how well those 00:23:46.25\00:23:50.73 cells are. Is that right? That's right... that's correct. 00:23:50.93\00:23:52.53 And if you think about what happens after that food goes in 00:23:52.73\00:23:57.17 the whole purpose is: "the life of the flesh is in the blood. " 00:23:57.37\00:23:59.80 So the foods that we eat will produce blood, 00:24:00.00\00:24:02.87 and that blood is going to nourish our body, 00:24:03.07\00:24:05.07 cleanse our body. But do you know 00:24:05.27\00:24:07.01 if the brain does not get good, pure blood 00:24:07.21\00:24:10.61 we will not be able to hear the words that God is going to 00:24:10.81\00:24:14.18 speak to us to change our lives. 00:24:14.38\00:24:16.18 And then... Oh wow... wow, wow, wow! 00:24:16.38\00:24:18.59 So you're saying that if your blood is not good 00:24:18.89\00:24:21.49 it doesn't feed the brain because circulation is taking 00:24:21.69\00:24:25.06 nutrition up to our brains. That's right. 00:24:25.26\00:24:27.93 And if it's not good nutrition then we can't even hear 00:24:28.13\00:24:30.60 the voice of God. So when we go and someone says 00:24:30.80\00:24:33.37 "I'm going to tell you what this says 00:24:33.57\00:24:35.37 and I'm going to tell you how to worship and when to worship" 00:24:35.57\00:24:38.14 and all that, we might not be able to process 00:24:38.34\00:24:43.24 because of what we're eating. And then we accept whatever 00:24:43.45\00:24:45.88 they say just like what's on this box. That's correct. 00:24:46.08\00:24:48.38 Now I like what you said, Dr. Jackson. 00:24:48.58\00:24:50.65 You mentioned that what we eat - and you said it, too - 00:24:50.85\00:24:52.99 what we eat actually makes blood. 00:24:53.19\00:24:55.26 If you eat this beautiful red pepper, 00:24:55.46\00:24:58.76 it goes in and it makes blood. Is that right? That's right. 00:24:58.96\00:25:01.76 If you pick up a candy bar - I won't say what type - 00:25:01.96\00:25:06.00 but if you pick up one of those I'm not sure what it makes! 00:25:06.20\00:25:09.54 Except maybe make you sick. 00:25:10.71\00:25:12.37 Our time is gone. This has been a very lively discussion. 00:25:12.57\00:25:15.18 Tune in another time when we have to pick up this discussion 00:25:15.58\00:25:18.05 again. There's so much more that we can cover. 00:25:18.25\00:25:20.58 But in the meantime, don't worry so much about what you read 00:25:20.78\00:25:24.75 on a box. Instead, pick up something that has no labels 00:25:24.95\00:25:27.29 at all - Amen - and you'll be healthy eating that. 00:25:27.49\00:25:29.89 We'll see you next time. 00:25:30.09\00:25:31.43 The wisdom of Solomon comes through for us 00:25:33.06\00:25:36.40 in Proverbs 30:7-8. 00:25:36.60\00:25:38.87 "Two things have I required of thee: 00:25:39.17\00:25:41.30 deny me them not before I die. 00:25:41.50\00:25:44.51 Remove far from me vanity and lies; 00:25:44.71\00:25:48.08 give me neither poverty nor riches. 00:25:48.28\00:25:50.55 Feed me with food convenient for me 00:25:50.75\00:25:53.92 lest I be full and deny Thee and say 00:25:54.12\00:25:57.79 'Who is the Lord? ' " 00:25:57.99\00:26:00.52 The wise man Solomon brings something very important 00:26:00.92\00:26:04.59 to light. First, that there is a food that is convenient for us. 00:26:04.79\00:26:09.20 That word convenient isn't the kind of convenience 00:26:09.70\00:26:13.47 we think of like packaged food or processed food from a store 00:26:13.67\00:26:18.17 but packaged from the very hand of God. 00:26:18.37\00:26:21.21 You see, it means prescribed. 00:26:21.41\00:26:24.15 An apple is also convenient and it is certainly 00:26:24.35\00:26:28.48 prescribed by God. 00:26:28.88\00:26:30.82 Secondly, Solomon also points out that we can eat a type of 00:26:31.02\00:26:35.82 food that makes us so full - although it's empty - 00:26:36.02\00:26:40.20 to the extent that we will forget God. 00:26:40.40\00:26:43.47 Now... do we really want to forget God? 00:26:43.97\00:26:46.94 Thank you Rico... that was moving. 00:26:48.64\00:26:51.47 Thank you. Now here's your bag with all your stuff in it. 00:26:51.67\00:26:54.81 Wait a minute. I thought we settled this. 00:26:57.21\00:26:58.85 Oh, we settled the fact that according to scientific data 00:26:59.05\00:27:03.08 you don't know what you're talking about until you've had 00:27:03.28\00:27:07.09 one of these babies. Had this one since 1992. 00:27:07.29\00:27:11.83 Mmm... it's aged to perfection! 00:27:12.23\00:27:16.60 I replaced all your convenient fruit 00:27:16.80\00:27:19.37 with some of these babies. 00:27:19.57\00:27:21.24 Man... you don't give up, do you? 00:27:22.14\00:27:23.57 Look friends, if God wanted us to have these, He would have 00:27:23.77\00:27:26.64 placed them in the garden. You'll never see one of these 00:27:26.84\00:27:29.01 hanging from a tree. Just remember III John 2. 00:27:29.21\00:27:32.65 "Beloved, I wish above all things that thou would prosper 00:27:32.95\00:27:36.32 and be in health... even as your soul prospers. " 00:27:36.52\00:27:39.79 I'm Rico Hill; I'm Sickness. This is so good! 00:27:40.09\00:27:43.02 Maranatha. 00:27:43.99\00:27:45.33
