Leviticus chapter 17 verses 10 and 11 says: 00:00:04.40\00:00:08.47 "And whatsoever man there be of the house of Israel 00:00:08.67\00:00:12.54 or of the strangers that sojourn among you 00:00:12.74\00:00:15.64 that eateth any manor of blood 00:00:15.84\00:00:18.38 I will even set My face against that soul 00:00:18.58\00:00:21.52 that eateth blood and will cut him off from among his people. 00:00:21.72\00:00:25.22 For the life of the flesh is in the blood. " 00:00:25.52\00:00:28.82 Wow! Hello and welcome to From Sickness To Health. 00:00:29.22\00:00:32.69 I'm your host Rico Hill and I'm Sickness. Yes. 00:00:32.89\00:00:36.16 And let me guess. The topic of today's program is blood. 00:00:36.36\00:00:40.14 Yes... blood. I love talking about blood. 00:00:40.54\00:00:43.57 That figures. Yeah! Because there's that song: 00:00:43.77\00:00:46.17 "What can wash away my sins? 00:00:46.47\00:00:49.14 Nothing but the blood of Jesus. 00:00:49.34\00:00:51.25 What can make me pure within? 00:00:51.45\00:00:53.08 Nothing but the blood of Jesus. " 00:00:53.38\00:00:55.62 It is so important to have clean blood 00:00:55.82\00:00:58.65 to have good health. Rico, clean blood is boring blood. 00:00:58.85\00:01:03.53 I've got to give up my party blood, probably eat your 00:01:03.73\00:01:06.46 boring food? No thanks. 00:01:06.66\00:01:09.73 Well I'm just curious. Can I ask you a question? 00:01:09.93\00:01:11.63 Sure. What color is your blood? Do you have blue blood? 00:01:11.83\00:01:14.64 What? I'm not going to answer that question. 00:01:15.04\00:01:17.24 You always ask me questions on the program. 00:01:17.44\00:01:19.14 Do you have blue blood? It's a simple question. 00:01:19.34\00:01:21.41 Roll the program! 00:01:21.61\00:01:22.94 Oh, so you don't want to answer my question 00:01:22.98\00:01:24.68 about your blue blood! Fine. Roll it. 00:01:24.88\00:01:27.82 Exit... stage right. 00:01:28.42\00:01:30.72 Well hello there and welcome to From Sickness To Health. 00:02:06.76\00:02:09.62 Thank you so much for joining us right here in the studio here. 00:02:09.82\00:02:13.33 And I'm joined by my good friend the doctor: 00:02:13.63\00:02:16.00 Dr. Schubert Palmer. And today we are going to be 00:02:16.20\00:02:20.40 talking about blood... something he knows a lot about. 00:02:20.60\00:02:25.87 In fact, Dr. Palmer is a cardiologist. 00:02:26.07\00:02:29.24 In fact, he's the chairman of the cardiology section 00:02:29.44\00:02:33.82 of the White Memorial Medical Center in LA, California. 00:02:34.02\00:02:37.69 But he does so much more than that. 00:02:38.09\00:02:39.75 And it's a wonder, it's amazing, that he can make time to come 00:02:40.16\00:02:43.53 and share with us good information about how we can be 00:02:43.73\00:02:47.60 healthy. His specialty is the heart, 00:02:47.76\00:02:50.63 but blood pumps through the heart. Welcome, doctor. 00:02:50.83\00:02:53.87 Thank you. Delighted to be here. 00:02:54.17\00:02:55.84 Now there are about eight pints of blood that just pump 00:02:56.14\00:02:59.77 through our bodies, moving through from the head to the toe 00:02:59.97\00:03:03.28 in about a minute. Um-hmm. That's about 3 miles per hour 00:03:03.48\00:03:06.01 in the average human being? Um-hmm. 00:03:06.21\00:03:07.95 So important is this blood, 00:03:08.15\00:03:09.95 yet most people don't know anything about it. 00:03:10.15\00:03:11.99 Today we want to really bring out 00:03:12.39\00:03:15.72 the importance, the power - the cleansing power - of blood. 00:03:15.92\00:03:20.93 But you've gotta have healthy blood. 00:03:21.13\00:03:23.37 Before we get into our discussion today 00:03:23.57\00:03:25.60 let's go and hear what Sickness has to say about blood. 00:03:25.80\00:03:29.57 Hey Rico. This is how we roll in Hollywood. 00:03:31.37\00:03:35.04 This is my sports car. 00:03:35.24\00:03:36.91 And according to the owner's manual they tell me to change 00:03:37.11\00:03:39.58 the oil every 3,000 miles. 00:03:39.78\00:03:42.32 The reason being it keeps the engine from seizing up 00:03:42.72\00:03:45.35 from all that dirty oil. 00:03:45.55\00:03:46.89 And I want to pay attention to that because, hey, if you have 00:03:47.19\00:03:48.92 dirty oil you could ruin the engine of your car. 00:03:49.12\00:03:52.43 You hear the similarities with the human body? 00:03:52.83\00:03:55.10 You've got a liver and kidneys to filter out 00:03:55.30\00:03:57.43 the old dirty blood, but people don't care about that stuff. 00:03:57.63\00:04:00.74 But they care about their cars! 00:04:01.04\00:04:02.84 They change the oil filter, they change their oil 00:04:03.04\00:04:06.17 and they keep it nice and clean so that pretty car can keep 00:04:06.37\00:04:09.61 running. That's what I do. Back to you, Rico. 00:04:09.81\00:04:12.81 I'm outta here. 00:04:13.01\00:04:14.52 Well... I don't know what to say about that. 00:04:14.92\00:04:17.95 Let's go ahead and get into our discussion. 00:04:18.75\00:04:20.99 I think there are some good points about what goes through 00:04:21.19\00:04:24.26 an engine and the fuel and the oil that goes into an engine, 00:04:24.56\00:04:28.26 but you know what? Blood is even more important. 00:04:28.46\00:04:33.07 Good blood is even better than good oil in a car, 00:04:33.27\00:04:36.27 so let's talk about good blood. 00:04:36.47\00:04:37.94 Can I start off, doctor, by reading a statement 00:04:38.34\00:04:40.58 that I think is just so powerful? 00:04:40.78\00:04:42.58 This is found in a book that... 00:04:42.98\00:04:46.08 that I love and enjoy. It says: 00:04:46.28\00:04:48.45 "In order to have good health we must have good blood 00:04:48.65\00:04:54.62 for the blood is the current of life. 00:04:54.92\00:04:58.59 It repairs waste and nourishes the body 00:04:58.79\00:05:01.70 when supplied with the proper food elements 00:05:01.90\00:05:05.53 and when cleansed and vitalized by contact with pure air 00:05:05.73\00:05:10.17 it carries life and vigor to every part of the system. 00:05:10.37\00:05:15.88 The more perfect the circulation 00:05:16.08\00:05:19.05 the better this will be accomplished. " 00:05:19.25\00:05:23.49 And that is from a book called Counsels for the Church 00:05:23.69\00:05:29.52 page 218. Wow! 00:05:29.72\00:05:31.79 What is blood being applied to the church for? 00:05:31.99\00:05:35.86 Well, as a physician and a scientist, I can validate that 00:05:37.13\00:05:40.84 statement to the "T. " I mean, my life's work 00:05:41.04\00:05:44.37 has to do with trying to correct folk who've had 00:05:44.57\00:05:47.41 "bad blood. " Bad blood... I like that! 00:05:47.61\00:05:53.08 Yeah, and there is... You won't find that in a 00:05:53.28\00:05:56.42 scientific textbook... bad blood... I guarantee that. 00:05:56.62\00:06:00.29 But if we can get our circulation right, 00:06:00.49\00:06:04.13 99% of our problems - at least 90% - 00:06:04.33\00:06:08.16 would disappear. 00:06:08.36\00:06:09.70 And when you think about this amazing body that we have - 00:06:09.73\00:06:12.87 yes - did you know that you have over 60,000 00:06:13.07\00:06:17.84 miles of blood vessels? It sounded like you said miles 00:06:18.04\00:06:21.64 but I think you meant 60,000 feet, right? 00:06:21.84\00:06:24.08 It sounds that way, but no. 60,000 to 100,000 miles 00:06:24.28\00:06:28.35 of blood vessels. This could go around the planet! 00:06:28.55\00:06:30.79 Just three of us and we could reach the moon! 00:06:31.09\00:06:33.76 That's the amount of circulation. Now they range 00:06:35.69\00:06:38.06 in size from the large arteries, you know, like the aorta - 00:06:38.26\00:06:41.90 like an inch size. Yeah. And they will get down 00:06:42.10\00:06:44.90 to the size of the arteriole which is 2/100 of an inch 00:06:45.10\00:06:48.50 down to the capillary size where they are so small 00:06:48.70\00:06:52.24 that the red blood cells have to squeeze through 00:06:52.44\00:06:56.44 these little capillaries one at a time. 00:06:56.64\00:07:00.02 Whoa! So if you can keep your circulation free and clear 00:07:00.42\00:07:05.32 you've gone a mighty long way to having good health. 00:07:05.52\00:07:09.29 So... the key to really good health 00:07:09.49\00:07:12.29 is having pure blood, 00:07:12.49\00:07:14.56 and that pure blood needs to be uninhibited 00:07:14.76\00:07:18.77 or impeded by anything so that it is circulating 00:07:18.97\00:07:22.84 at the rate of speed because it's taking things. 00:07:23.04\00:07:26.17 It's... Blood is not just blood. It's actually 00:07:26.37\00:07:30.25 sort of a transportation, sort of, mechanism. Isn't it? 00:07:30.45\00:07:33.15 Um-hmm. What is it moving through the body? 00:07:33.35\00:07:34.88 In fact, you can consider it like the current of life, 00:07:35.08\00:07:37.79 the river of life. The river! Bringing... 00:07:37.99\00:07:41.32 bringing nutrients - um-hmm - and probably the most important, 00:07:41.62\00:07:45.69 they're all important... but oxygen... Oxygen! 00:07:45.89\00:07:48.40 in those red blood cells. When you look at blood 00:07:48.60\00:07:51.03 55% or 54% is liquid or plasma. Yeah. 00:07:51.23\00:07:55.57 And then the other 45% are solid material, 00:07:55.77\00:07:58.31 the majority of which are the red blood cells 00:07:58.51\00:08:00.34 that are responsible for carrying the oxygen 00:08:00.64\00:08:02.94 in the hemoglobin molecule. Um-hmm. 00:08:03.14\00:08:04.95 And then bringing the "waste" back, or the carbon dioxide. 00:08:05.15\00:08:10.42 Maybe 70% of the carbon dioxide just is in the blood itself. 00:08:10.62\00:08:15.26 A percentage of it gets in the red blood cells 00:08:15.46\00:08:19.23 but most of it is just within the blood system itself. 00:08:19.43\00:08:21.93 So you have the oxygen/carbon dioxide exchange. 00:08:22.13\00:08:25.60 But that's only the beginning. 00:08:25.80\00:08:27.70 Now we have to look at the nutrients. 00:08:27.90\00:08:30.41 What are some of the... the hor- mones you have running around? 00:08:30.81\00:08:35.14 The body communicates by hormones and the brain will 00:08:35.34\00:08:39.31 send some hormones by the blood to the different organs. 00:08:39.51\00:08:42.18 If they are in trouble, they will send their signals 00:08:42.38\00:08:44.62 by the blood. So it's communication. 00:08:44.82\00:08:46.65 Communication network. Transportation; communication. 00:08:46.86\00:08:49.16 And the list goes on. OK. And then the immune system 00:08:49.46\00:08:54.50 is vitally dependent on the blood. 00:08:54.70\00:08:57.00 You have this array of white blood cells 00:08:57.20\00:09:00.07 that are designed to detect foreign invaders, 00:09:00.27\00:09:03.91 whether that is bacteria, viruses, or even cells that have 00:09:04.11\00:09:08.04 gone astray... the cancer cells. Aah! 00:09:08.24\00:09:11.21 And every one of us the thinking goes 00:09:11.41\00:09:13.95 during the course of our lifetime will have 00:09:14.15\00:09:16.42 anywhere from... hmmm... up to 250 cancer cells 00:09:16.62\00:09:21.09 that might form. Now your body has 100 trillion cells. 00:09:21.29\00:09:25.19 A hundred trillion? And trying to detect problems 00:09:25.39\00:09:29.66 in only 250... how do you do that? 00:09:29.86\00:09:32.70 The blood system is set up along with the lymphatic system 00:09:33.10\00:09:36.77 and so on to detect those cells 00:09:36.97\00:09:39.54 and to literally gobble up those cancer cells 00:09:39.74\00:09:42.84 before they cause trouble. 00:09:43.04\00:09:44.38 Diet is going to play a big part 00:09:44.51\00:09:46.55 in... because of the statement that I read... 00:09:46.75\00:09:48.75 the food that we eat is pretty much converted 00:09:48.95\00:09:51.45 to blood. Um-hmm. That's where our blood comes from. 00:09:51.65\00:09:54.26 That's how we make blood. 00:09:54.46\00:09:55.79 Good nutrition in... good, pure blood. Right? 00:09:55.82\00:09:58.96 But we're finding in a lot of communities, 00:09:59.16\00:10:01.06 certainly the African-American community and some others, 00:10:01.26\00:10:03.97 we have a higher incidence of hypertension and heart disease 00:10:04.87\00:10:08.77 and these kinds of things because our blood is not pure. 00:10:08.97\00:10:12.11 So we're talking about... we're still talking about 00:10:12.41\00:10:14.64 blood, though, because really we're told in Leviticus 00:10:14.94\00:10:19.78 chapter 17 and verse 11: 00:10:19.98\00:10:22.52 So the life of the flesh is in the blood. 00:10:34.33\00:10:37.10 Now I don't know if people would consider this to be 00:10:37.40\00:10:40.77 science, but in the Bible it says that the life of the flesh 00:10:40.97\00:10:45.24 is in the blood. When a person goes in for 00:10:45.44\00:10:48.04 a routine doctor's visit 00:10:48.24\00:10:50.55 what are they going to check and why? 00:10:50.75\00:10:52.65 They will do a physical examination. Of course, 00:10:52.85\00:10:55.18 a careful history, but usually they will do 00:10:55.38\00:10:58.29 a blood test. And you need to see 00:10:58.49\00:11:01.86 an inside view as to what's happening. 00:11:02.16\00:11:05.09 And one of the best ways to do that is to get some 00:11:05.29\00:11:09.13 blood tests done and you can get the answers 00:11:09.33\00:11:11.80 to many things. And nowadays it's even more fancy 00:11:12.00\00:11:15.00 with different tests that we have available. 00:11:15.20\00:11:17.01 So, if I want to know if someone might be... 00:11:17.41\00:11:21.11 On the other end of that video you were talking about 00:11:21.31\00:11:24.85 immune function and, you know, 00:11:25.05\00:11:28.28 we have trillions of blood cells 00:11:28.48\00:11:30.22 but at the same time 250 could be cancerous! 00:11:30.42\00:11:33.96 Right? So if we're going to be able to detect whether there is 00:11:34.16\00:11:38.06 cancer in the blood, are we saying that 00:11:38.26\00:11:41.43 through a blood test we can detect things like cancer? 00:11:41.63\00:11:44.37 By the time we detect cancer in a person 00:11:44.87\00:11:48.84 on the best science that we have right now 00:11:49.04\00:11:51.64 it's usually been around for five years or more. 00:11:51.84\00:11:54.84 So no... Blood tests are good for screening 00:11:55.04\00:11:58.11 but they're picking up the damage after it's been way gone. 00:11:58.31\00:12:03.32 So the old adage is true: a pound of prevention 00:12:03.52\00:12:08.19 is... or an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. 00:12:08.39\00:12:11.23 Aah! So this is what it comes down to. 00:12:11.43\00:12:13.36 Again we're seeing that no matter what you may be 00:12:13.56\00:12:17.17 genetically predisposed to - that means, you know, having 00:12:17.37\00:12:20.44 something passed down from mama or daddy 00:12:20.64\00:12:23.87 or grandpa. But it really comes down to 00:12:24.07\00:12:26.78 how... or what measures are you taking to prevent 00:12:27.18\00:12:31.11 sickness and disease, right? 00:12:31.31\00:12:33.65 For the majority of cases that is true. 00:12:33.85\00:12:36.08 The majority of cases? There are like 70% I've read. 00:12:36.28\00:12:39.19 Um-hmm... yes. Or even more! 00:12:39.39\00:12:42.06 Or even higher. So I like this expression... 00:12:42.26\00:12:44.69 maybe you can expound upon it a little more... 00:12:44.89\00:12:46.73 and that is: "genetics loads the gun" - um-hmm - 00:12:46.93\00:12:51.13 "but your lifestyle pulls the trigger. " Pulls the trigger, 00:12:51.33\00:12:54.60 yes. Let me give you an example: for the heart disease 00:12:54.80\00:12:58.44 there are what they call 00:12:58.94\00:13:01.01 single nucleotide polymorphisms. 00:13:01.31\00:13:03.88 Big word, but these are genetic mutations 00:13:04.08\00:13:06.72 in the DNA - um-hmm - that lead to abnormalities 00:13:06.92\00:13:10.89 that predispose you to, say, heart disease. 00:13:11.09\00:13:13.62 And so we've figured out a lot of them. 00:13:14.02\00:13:17.33 And one of them in particular that they found out that's 00:13:17.53\00:13:21.40 pretty common, and they found that things like "fish oil" 00:13:21.60\00:13:25.67 can actually help that one. 00:13:25.87\00:13:27.50 But that's just one. And each of these mutations 00:13:27.70\00:13:31.04 has their own baggage with them. 00:13:31.24\00:13:33.34 Now... if you come down with a mutation problem, 00:13:33.64\00:13:37.28 and we all are damaged goods... 00:13:37.48\00:13:40.42 No matter what we do? Yes, and you can't change your genes. 00:13:40.62\00:13:44.85 Right. But the research is confirming that even though 00:13:45.05\00:13:48.59 you may have had bad genes - and there are a few exceptions 00:13:48.79\00:13:51.13 like people that have one called progeria in which 00:13:51.33\00:13:54.20 10-year-old kids get heart attacks 00:13:54.40\00:13:56.26 because they age so rapidly. One in 20 million people. 00:13:56.46\00:14:00.00 Very rare. Very rare. So the majority of problems 00:14:00.20\00:14:02.97 that we are seeing today cannot just be laid at the 00:14:03.17\00:14:06.64 "excuse" if you will of having bad genes 00:14:06.84\00:14:10.48 because the lifestyle that we develop will directly affect it. 00:14:10.78\00:14:15.28 And I have a good example of Mr. I Hate Beans. 00:14:15.48\00:14:18.45 Aah... OK. Well... Mr. I Hate Beans. 00:14:18.65\00:14:22.29 You just heard that. We're going to talk about 00:14:22.49\00:14:24.09 Mr. I Hate Beans. Tell us about Mr. I Hate Beans. 00:14:24.29\00:14:27.56 So this gentlemen walked into my office... OK. 00:14:27.76\00:14:30.30 Actually, I first saw him in the emergency room again. 00:14:30.50\00:14:32.43 Most of my people I see in the emergency room first. 00:14:32.63\00:14:34.94 And so he's having a heart attack. 00:14:35.34\00:14:37.54 We rush him to the cath lab. We went ahead and did a stent, 00:14:37.74\00:14:40.98 opened up the blocked artery. 00:14:41.18\00:14:42.68 And I talked to him about changing his lifestyle. 00:14:42.88\00:14:44.88 He didn't. He was smoking, eating at all the fast food 00:14:45.28\00:14:48.22 places. Every bad habit he had. 00:14:48.42\00:14:50.19 Around 2 or 3 heart attacks later and another 4-5 stents... 00:14:50.49\00:14:53.69 Two or three heart attacks? 00:14:53.89\00:14:55.22 Um-hmm. So then he comes in and we have to do a bypass 00:14:55.32\00:14:58.36 surgery. OK... so he got the bypass surgery 00:14:58.56\00:15:01.70 and now it's around five years from the first time I saw him. 00:15:01.90\00:15:07.04 And now he is saying: "I am having this severe 00:15:07.24\00:15:10.01 chest pain. I am using 100 nitroglycerine tablets a day. " 00:15:10.21\00:15:13.58 The pills you put under your tongue when you have chest 00:15:13.78\00:15:15.88 discomfort. Yeah. And he says: 00:15:16.08\00:15:18.01 "I can't walk to my bathroom unless I take a nitro. " 00:15:18.21\00:15:21.95 And so he comes into my office and he says: 00:15:22.35\00:15:24.85 "So Dr. Palmer... am I going to die? " 00:15:25.05\00:15:27.39 And I looked him in the eye and sadly said: 00:15:27.69\00:15:29.92 "Yes, you are going to die. " You had to be that honest? 00:15:30.13\00:15:32.49 I had to be straightforward with him. 00:15:32.69\00:15:34.20 And he says: "So can I? " 00:15:34.60\00:15:35.93 "Every time you come in, " I said, "your lifestyle changes. 00:15:36.10\00:15:39.37 I mean, a simple thing is eat your beans 00:15:39.57\00:15:42.10 and lentils, you know. Stay away from a lot of the food 00:15:42.30\00:15:45.91 that you are having and have more of the food as grown." 00:15:46.11\00:15:48.91 Plant-based diet versus the high-fat, saturated fried food. 00:15:49.11\00:15:52.58 Yes. And he just said: "I can't do it. " 00:15:52.78\00:15:54.95 OK. And so what happened over this time: now he's having 00:15:55.15\00:15:58.89 100 nitroglycerine tablets a day. 00:15:59.09\00:16:01.09 He is going to die. Yeah, I did an angiogram. 00:16:01.29\00:16:04.36 The surgeon said: "I would not touch that man with a 20 foot 00:16:04.56\00:16:07.36 pole. He would die on the table." 00:16:07.56\00:16:09.56 I couldn't do any more angioplasties. 00:16:09.76\00:16:11.47 There was nothing there when I did the angiogram. 00:16:11.67\00:16:14.04 No arteries that you could see. I knew that we were in trouble. 00:16:14.24\00:16:17.51 So I told him: "Yes, you can go back home 00:16:17.71\00:16:20.14 to your country to say goodbye to your folk. 00:16:20.34\00:16:22.98 You know, since you are not listening to me, just prepare 00:16:23.38\00:16:26.08 to die. " I prepared him. You know, we had a prayer 00:16:26.28\00:16:28.88 and my heart was... You prayed with him? 00:16:29.08\00:16:31.15 I pray with a lot of my patients when they allow me to. 00:16:31.35\00:16:33.66 Absolutely. Praise God! And so when I said goodbye 00:16:33.86\00:16:37.26 I knew I would never see him again. Three months later 00:16:37.46\00:16:39.89 this man walks through the door with the picture of perfect 00:16:40.10\00:16:43.77 health on him. You've gotta be kidding me! 00:16:43.97\00:16:45.77 I said: "Mr. I Hate Beans! " 00:16:46.07\00:16:48.14 That's what you called him? Well... 00:16:48.34\00:16:51.07 That's what you were thinking. 00:16:52.21\00:16:53.68 I said: "You are alive? What happened? 00:16:53.88\00:16:56.38 You're supposed to be dead. " 00:16:56.58\00:16:58.15 And then he said... His wife was with him and she confirmed 00:16:58.35\00:17:01.22 the story. She said: "I cannot keep up walking with this man. " 00:17:01.42\00:17:04.79 And I said: "So sit down; tell me what happened. " 00:17:04.99\00:17:07.49 He said: "Well, I went back to my home country 00:17:07.69\00:17:09.46 up in the hills where we live. " 00:17:09.66\00:17:11.09 And he said: "Where we live we are so poor 00:17:11.29\00:17:14.13 the only food that they had for me to eat 00:17:14.33\00:17:17.27 were lentils and beans. " 00:17:17.47\00:17:19.80 And then he said: "We are so poor, I couldn't walk 00:17:20.77\00:17:23.87 anywhere. I mean, I couldn't take a taxi. 00:17:24.07\00:17:26.74 I couldn't afford... " They couldn't afford taxis. 00:17:26.94\00:17:28.51 So he had to walk. "So I HAD to walk. " 00:17:28.71\00:17:30.05 And then he said: "We are so poor 00:17:30.08\00:17:32.21 we didn't have a TV, so I had to go into the backyard 00:17:32.41\00:17:35.58 and garden to spend time. " 00:17:35.78\00:17:37.52 What? So there was time out in the fresh air 00:17:37.92\00:17:41.72 in the sunshine and he was walking! 00:17:41.92\00:17:44.39 He was walking. And this turned his situation around. 00:17:44.59\00:17:46.73 Turned his situation around. 00:17:46.93\00:17:48.26 Wow! I'm sorry... go ahead. 00:17:48.46\00:17:50.83 What happened is when you look at an artery 00:17:51.03\00:17:54.84 the inside lining of the artery 00:17:55.04\00:17:57.57 there are special cells called endothelial cells. 00:17:57.77\00:18:01.08 They make their own nitroglycerine. 00:18:01.28\00:18:03.71 And to make their nitroglycerine for this inner lining of the 00:18:03.91\00:18:07.35 arteries they need to have... L-arginine is the building block 00:18:07.55\00:18:13.05 from which they can make nitric oxide. 00:18:13.25\00:18:15.82 Um-hmm. And nitric oxide is the most potent basal dilator 00:18:16.02\00:18:20.26 and also one of the most potent chemotherapy, 00:18:20.46\00:18:22.76 cancer-fighting chemicals known to man. 00:18:22.96\00:18:24.90 So fighting the cancer but also keeping the blood vessels 00:18:25.10\00:18:28.37 and the veins and arteries open. 00:18:28.57\00:18:30.17 All natural. Just naturally! Um-hmm. 00:18:30.37\00:18:32.24 From beans? Beans and lentils. 00:18:32.44\00:18:34.91 And these are high in the L-arginine foods 00:18:35.11\00:18:38.58 that your body uses to make nitric oxide. 00:18:38.78\00:18:41.98 Let's see if the people on the street know about 00:18:42.18\00:18:44.42 the goodness of beans and good blood and a good heart. 00:18:44.62\00:18:47.16 Let's turn to that. 00:18:47.36\00:18:48.69 Let me ask you a question. We're going to get all 00:18:51.09\00:18:53.33 "sciency" here. How fast does blood flow? 00:18:53.53\00:18:57.37 Very fast. Very fast? Very fast. 00:18:58.60\00:19:00.87 She didn't get good grades in school. I need some 00:19:01.07\00:19:02.64 specifics here. How fast does blood flow? 00:19:02.84\00:19:06.17 You know what? I was not very good in my science class 00:19:07.31\00:19:12.28 so... The answer is: too fast. 00:19:12.48\00:19:15.15 Blood needs to slow down because you know what? 00:19:15.35\00:19:18.15 It needs to slow down a little. All these people talking about 00:19:18.35\00:19:20.86 good circulation? You gotta let blood just do what it does. 00:19:21.02\00:19:24.83 Just do what it does. Coagulate... yes! 00:19:25.03\00:19:29.00 Do you like happy blood? I don't know what happy blood is. 00:19:29.20\00:19:32.63 Look, the way to get happy BLUE blood 00:19:32.83\00:19:35.17 is to sit on the couch, put your feet up, eat whatever you want 00:19:35.37\00:19:38.71 as often as you want and don't go to sleep. 00:19:38.91\00:19:41.54 See, that's the thing. Blue blood - slow blood - 00:19:41.94\00:19:45.68 is good blood. You see what I'm saying? 00:19:45.88\00:19:48.78 I think you see what I'm saying. You guys: you have good 00:19:48.98\00:19:50.95 blood flow? Yes. You have blue blood? 00:19:51.15\00:19:53.96 Yes. OK... circulation: how fast do you think in the 00:19:54.16\00:19:57.83 human body is circulation? How often does that happen? 00:19:58.03\00:20:00.10 How fast does it go? 00:20:00.50\00:20:02.06 I'm gettin' a little "sciency" on you... I'm pretty smart. 00:20:02.26\00:20:04.33 Hmm... I don't know. 00:20:04.73\00:20:07.60 He doesn't know. But you're smart... you look smart. 00:20:07.80\00:20:10.14 I have no idea. No idea. 00:20:10.34\00:20:12.37 You? No idea. No idea. 00:20:12.57\00:20:14.41 Do you like the sight of blood? The sight of it? 00:20:14.61\00:20:16.44 I mean, you like to look at blood itself. Nah. 00:20:16.64\00:20:19.21 No? Nah. I mean, you don't like blood. 00:20:19.41\00:20:21.58 I don't like blood. I mean, there's all this confusion 00:20:21.78\00:20:24.15 out there about blood. I think in concept 00:20:24.35\00:20:27.06 people like clean blood but in reality people like party blood. 00:20:27.26\00:20:33.16 They like the buzz, so don't be a buzzkill. 00:20:33.36\00:20:36.67 Clean blood sounds good but people would rather have 00:20:37.07\00:20:40.17 party blood, happy blood. Back to you, Rico. 00:20:40.37\00:20:45.34 Whoo! What can you say? 00:20:47.78\00:20:49.51 What can I say? People have their own ideas. 00:20:49.71\00:20:51.78 Um-hmm. But you know, what we like to do on this program 00:20:51.98\00:20:54.88 is really give, you know, really good science 00:20:55.08\00:20:57.95 and give you the truth. Dispel the myths and misconceptions 00:20:58.15\00:21:01.12 of these things and also go to the Word of God. 00:21:01.42\00:21:03.79 And, you know, at one point our doctor mentioned that, 00:21:04.09\00:21:07.96 you know, when we have good blood we're also transporting 00:21:08.26\00:21:11.80 these white blood cells which is our immune function. 00:21:12.00\00:21:15.20 And it says in Isaiah chapter 59 and verse 19 00:21:15.40\00:21:18.84 it says: "So shall they fear the name of the Lord 00:21:19.04\00:21:22.21 from the west and His glory from the rising of the sun. 00:21:22.41\00:21:25.45 When the enemy shall come in like a flood, the Spirit of the 00:21:25.65\00:21:30.32 Lord shall lift up a standard against him. " 00:21:30.52\00:21:33.92 So when the enemy - that is any type of pathogen or 00:21:34.12\00:21:38.43 bacterial/viral infection comes in, 00:21:38.63\00:21:41.13 God has a standard, doesn't He, that He raises up in the body. 00:21:41.33\00:21:44.97 But not only that, He's already given us a standard. 00:21:45.37\00:21:48.00 He's given us a healthy diet and all the things from the garden. 00:21:48.20\00:21:52.44 The fruits, the vegetables and the things that are good for us 00:21:52.74\00:21:56.04 to eat and will give us pure blood making good life. 00:21:56.24\00:21:59.95 Is that right? That's an awesome thing to know. 00:22:00.15\00:22:02.78 And to think that your best medicine can be found 00:22:03.08\00:22:06.86 in the produce section of the supermarket. 00:22:07.06\00:22:09.59 You mean not in the middle aisles where you can go and find 00:22:09.79\00:22:12.93 the things that are at eye level and that have lots of 00:22:13.13\00:22:16.33 descriptions and ingredients that you can't pronounce? 00:22:16.63\00:22:19.57 Not those? Not those. OK... so, you know, I want to 00:22:19.77\00:22:22.54 look at these things because this is a stent. 00:22:22.74\00:22:25.37 This is a stent that you often have to put in someone. 00:22:25.57\00:22:29.51 Is this? This has become almost commonplace. 00:22:29.71\00:22:32.71 In fact, our president... president. I mean our president. 00:22:32.91\00:22:37.15 He's former president, but Bill Clinton 00:22:37.35\00:22:38.99 he had one of these placed in him, didn't he? 00:22:39.19\00:22:41.22 He did. Not just one... he had several. 00:22:41.42\00:22:43.06 And when he saw his cardiologist at the time they told him 00:22:43.26\00:22:45.86 "Well, you're growing old and this is just a natural 00:22:46.06\00:22:48.46 process for growing old. " 00:22:48.66\00:22:50.87 That's what they told him? Unfortunately. They were wrong! 00:22:51.03\00:22:54.67 Well, I don't like to say anything about my colleagues 00:22:55.07\00:22:58.51 but just... The information was that... 00:22:58.71\00:23:01.04 We are able in a program like this to tell the truth. 00:23:01.24\00:23:06.51 The whole truth... and nothing but the truth... 00:23:07.35\00:23:09.15 and nothing but the truth. Amen! 00:23:09.35\00:23:10.69 So he had to get several of these in, 00:23:10.99\00:23:13.12 but that wasn't enough. And maybe some time on a later 00:23:13.32\00:23:17.29 program we'll show exactly what he said. 00:23:17.49\00:23:19.46 Because everyone was interviewing him and asking 00:23:19.66\00:23:23.20 "How did you overcome your issue? " 00:23:23.40\00:23:26.30 Um-hmm. And he tells the story. 00:23:26.60\00:23:28.37 He had to get several stents but his doctors told him 00:23:28.57\00:23:31.44 "You've got to change... " What? 00:23:31.64\00:23:32.97 You have to change your lifestyle... which the diet was 00:23:33.14\00:23:35.98 very critical. Diet was a part of it. 00:23:36.18\00:23:37.95 And now he's what we call a vegan. 00:23:38.15\00:23:43.02 And a vegan is basically someone who just has 00:23:43.22\00:23:45.32 a plant-based diet. Um-hmm. So we can avoid this thing. 00:23:45.52\00:23:49.52 Now is that painful? Well, of course not. 00:23:49.82\00:23:54.00 It is radical but it's not painful. 00:23:57.07\00:23:59.20 Well it is... sometimes. Let me tell the truth. 00:23:59.40\00:24:02.10 The whole truth and nothing but the truth! 00:24:03.17\00:24:05.27 We use local anesthesia and you're a little sedated. 00:24:05.47\00:24:08.04 And sometimes I will sing for my patients 00:24:08.24\00:24:10.48 if they really need the big anesthesia. 00:24:10.68\00:24:12.71 But after you have it in and you're walking around 00:24:12.91\00:24:15.08 you don't notice it but... No you don't. 00:24:15.28\00:24:17.15 For a while, though, you would feel some discomfort? 00:24:17.35\00:24:19.25 Would you? No... not necessarily. 00:24:19.45\00:24:21.22 If it's doing it's job it will be OK. 00:24:21.42\00:24:23.76 However, if your lifestyle hasn't changed 00:24:23.96\00:24:26.13 the process is starting to start up again or in another 00:24:26.33\00:24:30.17 area. And if you have to have a big surgery, 00:24:30.37\00:24:33.47 the bypass surgery, that one you will feel for quite a while. 00:24:33.67\00:24:37.34 Aah, well I tell you Dr. Palmer, thank you so much. 00:24:38.57\00:24:41.74 We're running out of time but we could just go on 00:24:41.94\00:24:44.48 for days and days. But here's the thing: 00:24:44.68\00:24:46.65 we know that there's a simple solution to this problem. 00:24:46.85\00:24:51.49 Let's eat better. Let's eat a diet that is... 00:24:51.69\00:24:54.59 or eat a diet that is going to be heart-healthy 00:24:54.79\00:24:58.39 and promote good blood and good health. 00:24:58.59\00:25:00.43 Because that is the river of life, and we want life, 00:25:00.63\00:25:04.50 don't we? Absolutely. 00:25:04.70\00:25:06.03 We'll see you next time here on From Sickness To Health. 00:25:06.30\00:25:08.64 Thank you, doctor. Appreciate it. My pleasure. 00:25:08.84\00:25:10.87 Today we have learned that in order to have good health 00:25:14.74\00:25:17.41 we must have good blood 00:25:17.61\00:25:19.61 for the blood is "the current of life. " 00:25:19.81\00:25:23.02 If you have a blood that is more acidic, 00:25:23.22\00:25:26.76 you have a garden where disease and sickness will thrive. 00:25:26.96\00:25:31.83 I go to places like the desert and everything is dry and dead. 00:25:32.03\00:25:35.63 But when there's a river there you'll see the green trees 00:25:35.83\00:25:39.17 and everything is flourishing. 00:25:39.37\00:25:40.70 That's what the blood is referred to: an actual river 00:25:40.80\00:25:44.51 of life. Wow! When you have good circulation 00:25:44.71\00:25:48.58 you'll have good health. It's amazing to me that 00:25:48.78\00:25:52.35 whatever we eat is converted to blood. 00:25:52.55\00:25:56.52 You eat an apple... it's going to turn into blood. 00:25:56.72\00:25:59.15 Eat a candy bar? Well... I'm not so sure. 00:25:59.35\00:26:02.12 But here's the thing: God desires us to have pure blood. 00:26:02.52\00:26:06.09 God designed this incredible organism 00:26:06.29\00:26:09.86 to be able to live because of this current of life. 00:26:10.07\00:26:14.00 I understand. I get it. 00:26:14.20\00:26:16.27 Look... you saw my sports car. I take care of it. 00:26:16.47\00:26:19.41 I understand that with good oil I have a good healthy car. 00:26:19.61\00:26:22.94 With dirty oil the engine will seize up. 00:26:23.35\00:26:25.08 I understand that, just like I understand all this stuff 00:26:25.28\00:26:27.65 you were talking about with the blood and the body. 00:26:27.85\00:26:29.45 That's not the issue. You're trying to take the fun 00:26:29.65\00:26:32.85 out of life. And people want to have a little party blood. 00:26:33.05\00:26:36.02 They want to have some fun in life, not eat all these leaf 00:26:36.22\00:26:38.86 things and gross stuff you've got to eat. 00:26:39.06\00:26:41.13 I'm sorry. I hate to cut you off but I heard you say 00:26:41.33\00:26:43.57 people want to have a little life. Well, 00:26:43.77\00:26:46.50 actually Leviticus 17:11 says 00:26:46.70\00:26:50.27 that "the life of the flesh is in the blood. " 00:26:50.47\00:26:54.18 Without good blood you have no life. 00:26:54.44\00:26:59.11 Aah! Let's listen to what God has said 00:26:59.31\00:27:01.92 to us regarding the life of this flesh being in the blood. 00:27:02.12\00:27:06.72 Well, that's our program for today. 00:27:06.92\00:27:08.59 I leave you with this as always: III John 2 says: 00:27:08.79\00:27:11.69 "Beloved, I wish above all things 00:27:11.89\00:27:14.16 that thou mayest prosper and be in health. " 00:27:14.36\00:27:16.87 I'm Rico Hill... I'm Sickness. 00:27:17.17\00:27:19.20 Maranatha. 00:27:19.40\00:27:20.80
