II Chronicles chapter 29 and verse 16 00:00:01.76\00:00:03.77 states: "And the priest went into the inner part 00:00:03.97\00:00:06.77 of the house of the Lord to cleanse it 00:00:06.97\00:00:09.14 and brought out all uncleanness in the temple of the Lord. " 00:00:09.34\00:00:14.08 The parallels of God's temple and our bodies 00:00:14.28\00:00:17.98 being the temple of God are astounding. Imagine! 00:00:18.18\00:00:21.55 The priest would go into the inner part of the temple 00:00:21.85\00:00:24.62 and they would cleanse it and they would bring out all 00:00:24.82\00:00:28.26 the things that were unclean. 00:00:28.46\00:00:30.29 Hi. I'm Rico Hill and I'm the host of 00:00:30.59\00:00:33.46 From Sickness to Health and I'm joined by 00:00:33.66\00:00:36.30 the enemy of health, the blue guy... Sickness himself. 00:00:36.50\00:00:40.87 That's me. Today we're going to be talking about 00:00:41.27\00:00:43.64 something nobody wants to talk about. 00:00:43.84\00:00:46.44 Isn't that right Sickness? Look, I don't want to talk about it. 00:00:46.64\00:00:48.91 Yes, yes... I know you don't want to talk about it. 00:00:49.74\00:00:51.65 But it's something that affects so many people 00:00:51.85\00:00:54.72 and they don't even know it. Ignorance is bliss! 00:00:54.92\00:00:57.12 In fact, it is estimated that 63 million people 00:00:57.32\00:01:02.42 in North America will experience it at some point 00:01:02.62\00:01:05.89 in their lifetime. Now this is a small problem 00:01:06.09\00:01:08.90 that leads to... leads to embarrassment. 00:01:09.10\00:01:11.07 Socially awkward moments like right now. 00:01:11.47\00:01:14.17 Discussing other people's business... 00:01:14.57\00:01:16.91 That's why they call it "doing YOUR business" 00:01:17.31\00:01:20.18 because it's not other people's business. 00:01:20.38\00:01:23.41 So the topic today is that... is people should have the right 00:01:23.81\00:01:27.78 to choose to go to the bathroom or not. 00:01:27.98\00:01:30.09 Actually is the constitution of constipation. 00:01:31.15\00:01:36.16 I can't believe we're talking about constipation! Why not? 00:01:36.46\00:01:38.79 Because it's none of their business. 00:01:38.99\00:01:41.10 If people want to do #2 it's a private matter. 00:01:41.40\00:01:44.53 Look, some of us want to use the bathroom 1 time a week. 00:01:44.93\00:01:47.70 That's OUR business. Wait a minute. 00:01:48.10\00:01:50.57 Number 2's are private. Wait a minute... wait a minute. 00:01:50.77\00:01:53.81 I think you're talking about yourself, aren't you? 00:01:54.01\00:01:56.31 You're talking about yourself. 00:01:56.71\00:01:58.41 No habla espaņol... 00:01:58.81\00:02:01.85 Ah yes! That's it... you're constipated. 00:02:02.05\00:02:03.82 That's why you're so grumpy. That's it! 00:02:04.02\00:02:05.65 No entiendo senor. 00:02:05.95\00:02:07.66 All right, I'll tell you what: we're going to talk today 00:02:07.96\00:02:10.73 about this touchy subject and hopefully we're going to 00:02:10.93\00:02:14.56 get him some help and get you some information. 00:02:14.76\00:02:16.43 Stay tuned. Roll it. 00:02:16.63\00:02:18.03 Well thank you for joining us here in the studio. 00:02:59.17\00:03:01.71 I know by now you know that we have a very 00:03:02.58\00:03:05.51 fascinating topic today. 00:03:05.71\00:03:07.85 Well, joining me here in the studio is our good friend 00:03:08.05\00:03:11.62 Dr. Jim Said who is a board-certified 00:03:11.82\00:03:15.62 chiropractor - if I could just get that out of my mouth - 00:03:15.82\00:03:18.06 and a naturopathic doctor. And he is a friend to 00:03:18.26\00:03:22.03 this program. But today we have someone else joining us. 00:03:22.23\00:03:25.37 We also have a friend of mine: Vera Onkoba. She is a 00:03:25.67\00:03:28.94 registered nurse. She's one who is on the front lines 00:03:29.14\00:03:32.67 as it were seeing all the things that are happening in the ICU 00:03:32.87\00:03:37.25 where she works. So I know that she has some things that 00:03:37.45\00:03:40.72 she can share with us regarding this topic 00:03:40.92\00:03:43.28 that will be riveting. So with that said 00:03:43.49\00:03:46.39 I welcome both of you to From Sickness to Health 00:03:46.59\00:03:49.42 as we talk about constipation. 00:03:49.62\00:03:52.29 Thank you! Now before we get into this topic 00:03:52.49\00:03:56.83 we know that millions of people are affected by it 00:03:57.03\00:03:59.17 and it's that sensitive topic that no one wants to talk about, 00:03:59.57\00:04:03.87 right? Right. But today we must talk about it 00:04:04.07\00:04:06.51 because I think there's a lot of help for people out there 00:04:06.71\00:04:08.74 and we're going to get into the topic. But before we do 00:04:08.94\00:04:12.11 we want to give our friend Sickness an opportunity. 00:04:12.41\00:04:17.32 We gave him a camera. He's out and he's talking - 00:04:17.52\00:04:19.85 not with people, we'll see that later on - 00:04:20.16\00:04:22.19 but he is out there and he has something that he wants us 00:04:22.39\00:04:25.29 to see on this. So let's take a look at the monitor here. 00:04:25.49\00:04:27.26 THIS is a normal toilet. 00:04:30.03\00:04:32.17 When the plumbing gets backed up the toilet overflows 00:04:32.37\00:04:35.47 and the elimination system stops working... 00:04:35.67\00:04:38.07 much like the human body. 00:04:38.27\00:04:40.21 It's quite amazing. When people eat their meats and their 00:04:40.41\00:04:42.31 cheeses and not a lot of fiber it all gets backed up 00:04:42.51\00:04:45.68 and makes them much more prone to sickness. 00:04:45.88\00:04:48.95 Take this guy for instance. 00:04:49.35\00:04:51.55 Look at him... he's all in pain. 00:04:51.85\00:04:54.79 He decided to enjoy some delicious food 00:04:54.99\00:04:57.56 and let it marinate for a few weeks in his bowels. 00:04:57.76\00:05:01.06 Oh man! Now he's all clogged up. 00:05:01.46\00:05:05.37 That's the beauty of constipation. 00:05:05.77\00:05:07.97 I bet you wish you didn't eat all that cheese now, 00:05:08.17\00:05:12.07 don't you? Back to you Rico. 00:05:12.27\00:05:17.08 Well well well... I tell you, you know. 00:05:18.98\00:05:20.92 Imagine that! Many diseases begin in the gut. 00:05:21.78\00:05:27.66 Doctor, what do we have to say about this? 00:05:28.06\00:05:30.79 Oh boy. A lot, right? A lot. 00:05:30.99\00:05:32.99 What people don't realize is the significance of the gut. 00:05:33.19\00:05:36.26 It is hardwired to the brain, 00:05:36.67\00:05:40.37 to the immune system, to the glandular or endocrine system, 00:05:40.77\00:05:44.74 and to the psyche. So what happens in our gut 00:05:44.94\00:05:48.34 affects how we think and how we feel. 00:05:48.54\00:05:51.18 That in some circles this is pretty much who we are. 00:05:51.58\00:05:57.52 That's who you are as the character. Yes. 00:05:57.72\00:05:59.89 So if you're thinking lousy and feeling lousy 00:06:00.09\00:06:02.96 then you are... dare I say? lousy. 00:06:03.16\00:06:07.83 Well we want to help people change that for their situation, 00:06:08.23\00:06:11.20 right? Amen. So go ahead. Let me give a concept. OK. 00:06:11.43\00:06:15.77 When we eat, our body has to digest that food - 00:06:15.97\00:06:19.57 that is, break it down into small foodstuffs, 00:06:19.77\00:06:22.08 small molecules - that can go across the gut wall 00:06:22.28\00:06:26.18 and be put back together as components of our body 00:06:26.38\00:06:29.52 and build our tissues, our cells, 00:06:29.92\00:06:32.65 our glands, our hormones, etc. 00:06:32.85\00:06:35.66 Getting it into the body and across the gut wall 00:06:37.76\00:06:41.00 is a major task. In fact I call it a violent action 00:06:41.20\00:06:44.83 in the body. Because if you could see the cauldron of what's 00:06:45.03\00:06:48.37 going on in the small intestines especially 00:06:48.57\00:06:50.41 and the stomach, there's a major churning going on 00:06:50.61\00:06:53.58 to break down that food into small constituents 00:06:53.78\00:06:57.61 that we can take into the body. 00:06:57.81\00:06:59.78 Now, our food has in it fiber, 00:06:59.98\00:07:04.72 vitamins, minerals, proteins, 00:07:04.92\00:07:08.26 carbohydrates, fats... these are all parts of food. 00:07:08.46\00:07:12.99 If we take those out of the food, 00:07:13.19\00:07:15.40 the food doesn't have in it what the body requires 00:07:15.80\00:07:20.50 to digest and assimilate and use that food. 00:07:20.70\00:07:23.41 Which leads then to constipation. Yes. 00:07:23.61\00:07:26.44 But I think what we need to do for our audience is 00:07:26.64\00:07:29.38 define what is constipation because you know why? 00:07:29.58\00:07:33.48 Vera, not that we turn to you on this particular point, 00:07:34.55\00:07:38.95 but I'm turning to you on this particular point. 00:07:39.15\00:07:41.09 People don't understand what constipation is. 00:07:42.56\00:07:45.59 They figure if I go to the bathroom at least a couple times 00:07:45.79\00:07:48.16 a week I'm not constipated. 00:07:48.36\00:07:51.57 I go to the bathroom. Or even if I go once a day 00:07:51.77\00:07:55.44 I'm not constipated. Is that true? 00:07:55.64\00:07:58.31 That's not true. Why is it not true? 00:07:58.61\00:08:01.41 Well because the body is created in a way that it's 00:08:01.61\00:08:04.75 supposed to eliminate as it takes in as well. 00:08:04.95\00:08:07.82 So as you take in food that food should be leaving. 00:08:08.02\00:08:10.85 Right. So is that a fair assessment that with every meal 00:08:11.05\00:08:15.06 there should be a corresponding movement? 00:08:15.26\00:08:18.19 Elimination is called the gastrocolic reflex 00:08:18.39\00:08:21.36 from the stomach to the colon. 00:08:21.66\00:08:23.50 So as we take food in we have to make room for it 00:08:23.70\00:08:26.47 and now we eliminate what we no longer need. 00:08:26.67\00:08:28.70 And by the time the food hits the stomach 00:08:29.10\00:08:31.61 to the time it's eliminated is on average about 36 hours. 00:08:31.81\00:08:35.14 OK. So after every meal the body is designed to have 00:08:35.34\00:08:40.02 a normal evacuation. Ask any baby how they work. 00:08:40.22\00:08:45.55 That's right! A baby has a meal they have a corresponding 00:08:45.75\00:08:48.19 bowel movement. Exactly. So if we're not having 00:08:48.49\00:08:52.03 bowel movements as we saw from what Sickness just showed us 00:08:52.23\00:08:57.10 then a person is clogged up or as he put it "backed up" 00:08:58.33\00:09:02.67 clogged up like a toilet - yes - 00:09:02.87\00:09:04.51 and you become a little septic? A little toxic? 00:09:04.71\00:09:07.38 What happens? You become auto-intoxicated. 00:09:07.58\00:09:10.15 Auto-intoxicated? When I hear intoxicated that sounds like 00:09:10.35\00:09:12.95 drunk. Like from? People are thinking 00:09:13.15\00:09:16.69 intoxication? Auto-intoxication? 00:09:16.89\00:09:18.89 What is that exactly? The body in eliminating 00:09:19.09\00:09:22.36 has bacteria that are designed to digest out what we can't use 00:09:22.76\00:09:27.90 in the body... we can't assimilate. 00:09:28.10\00:09:30.10 For example: fiber which is also called cellulose. 00:09:30.30\00:09:34.07 So our bacteria have enzymes 00:09:34.47\00:09:37.01 cellulase - um-hmm - that breaks down the fiber. 00:09:37.21\00:09:40.14 That's... the fiber's their food. 00:09:40.34\00:09:41.88 If we're not giving fiber to those bacteria, 00:09:42.08\00:09:45.65 they're not fed. And if they're not fed, 00:09:45.85\00:09:48.35 they're not colonizing the gut. 00:09:48.55\00:09:51.89 And a great part of the stool is made up of dead bacteria. 00:09:52.09\00:09:56.22 Of dead bacteria? Yes. 00:09:56.52\00:09:58.43 Hold that thought right there. Vera, you're working in 00:09:58.63\00:10:02.30 intensive care, are you seeing people come who are constipated? 00:10:02.50\00:10:04.90 I think you have some stories about some real-life issues 00:10:05.10\00:10:08.00 with constipation... people who have ended up in the ER. 00:10:08.20\00:10:11.61 Is that right? Absolutely. I want you both to hold that 00:10:11.81\00:10:13.94 thought. We're going to hear what you have to say, but let's 00:10:14.14\00:10:16.75 take a listen from this video and see what some people 00:10:16.95\00:10:21.85 who are on the news are saying. Let's take a look. 00:10:22.05\00:10:23.99 You know what I hear on my website and I know you do too. 00:10:27.19\00:10:29.79 I'm just going to get like down with it: 00:10:30.19\00:10:32.89 women can't poop and that's all I hear. Right. 00:10:33.29\00:10:36.70 "How can I go to the bathroom? " 00:10:36.90\00:10:38.30 Why is everybody so constipated? 00:10:38.50\00:10:40.40 I think it's from the onslaught of what you talk about. 00:10:41.50\00:10:44.64 We talk about this issue a lot and all bloating. 00:10:44.84\00:10:48.01 I feel like we're on the phone. I know. 00:10:48.21\00:10:50.48 But the issue is it's the onslaught of what you talk about 00:10:50.68\00:10:54.48 in the book Sexy Forever. It's the toxins in the food 00:10:54.68\00:10:57.39 that we're eating. It's too many prescribed antibiotics 00:10:57.59\00:11:01.19 that kill all the friendly bac- teria in our digestive tracts. 00:11:01.39\00:11:04.46 I read a study recently... It kills everything. 00:11:04.69\00:11:07.50 So when it kills the friendly bacteria then does the 00:11:07.70\00:11:11.13 bad bacteria take over? And what does it do? 00:11:11.33\00:11:13.50 What happens is imagine this much bacteria 00:11:14.57\00:11:17.81 in that digestive tube. It's about the size of a brick. 00:11:18.01\00:11:20.88 So just saying you have two rounds of antibiotics. 00:11:21.08\00:11:23.48 It kills all the friendly bacteria. 00:11:23.68\00:11:25.55 So the bad guys are there, too, and the yeast 00:11:25.75\00:11:28.35 and they proliferate in the digestive tract too and they 00:11:28.55\00:11:31.72 create fermentation. And what do people feel? Bloating. 00:11:31.92\00:11:36.36 And they also produce alcohol which gives people brain fog 00:11:36.56\00:11:40.30 and they don't even drink! 00:11:40.50\00:11:42.43 Whoa! Well, we see here that this is a big problem. Right. 00:11:42.63\00:11:47.34 And according to this news clip or this little clip we just saw 00:11:47.64\00:11:51.61 it's affecting women quite a bit to the point where there's 00:11:52.01\00:11:54.88 bloating and there's all types of issues. 00:11:55.08\00:11:58.08 Is this something you're seeing in your practice? 00:11:58.28\00:11:59.61 Is this what you're seeing in the hospital? 00:11:59.81\00:12:01.68 First you, Dr. Said. Yes. Especially women 00:12:01.88\00:12:04.62 around menopause. What happens around that time of life 00:12:04.82\00:12:08.49 is what's called the intrinsic factor, and the stomach starts 00:12:08.69\00:12:11.99 to go down... meaning they can't digest proteins efficiently. 00:12:12.19\00:12:15.93 When they can't digest proteins efficiently 00:12:16.13\00:12:18.90 they will sit longer in the gut and ferment. 00:12:19.10\00:12:22.27 Actually they rot... they putrify. 00:12:22.47\00:12:24.17 And sugars stay too long and ferment - 00:12:24.37\00:12:26.78 ferment, yes - turning into gas and bloating. 00:12:26.98\00:12:29.31 Constipation is a necessary result of that process 00:12:29.71\00:12:32.35 because those proteins are not going all the way through. 00:12:32.55\00:12:36.28 Also if a person is taking antibiotics as we well know 00:12:37.29\00:12:40.52 their gut flora is wiped out. 00:12:40.82\00:12:43.89 It's destroyed. That's what we just heard in the clip. Yes. 00:12:44.09\00:12:46.13 OK. So it interferes with the process of the flora 00:12:46.33\00:12:49.50 the microbes digesting fiber 00:12:49.80\00:12:53.47 to turn into eliminative waste. 00:12:53.67\00:12:57.17 So constipation is a necessary result of that. 00:12:57.57\00:13:00.98 And I see that consistently in practice. 00:13:01.28\00:13:04.11 Also, if people are eating foods that are not only low 00:13:04.31\00:13:07.88 in fiber but also allergic or hyper sensitive to their bodies. 00:13:08.08\00:13:12.15 Like for example eggs and dairy and soybeans and wheat. 00:13:12.55\00:13:18.46 These are common allergens or hyper sensitive food. 00:13:18.76\00:13:21.16 And let's break down dairy 'cause we're talking about 00:13:21.36\00:13:23.40 ice cream - dairy, cheese on our pizza. 00:13:23.60\00:13:27.77 Dairy, yes? Yes. So these are the things. Milk, right? 00:13:28.07\00:13:32.11 These are our dairy products. Dairy products. 00:13:32.31\00:13:34.54 Wheat like in the pizza dough and bread. 00:13:34.74\00:13:38.51 A lot of times they're putting cheese inside the dough now. 00:13:38.71\00:13:40.42 Yes. OK. Sadly. 00:13:40.62\00:13:42.52 So we start taking in these foods to which we respond by 00:13:42.72\00:13:45.89 inflammation. Now the gut inflames, 00:13:46.09\00:13:48.72 and when the gut inflames we can't digest foods efficiently. 00:13:48.92\00:13:52.36 So wait a minute here. 00:13:52.86\00:13:55.00 Most people think that if I just have some fiber - 00:13:55.20\00:13:58.37 you know, over-the-counter fiber... whatever - 00:13:58.57\00:14:01.67 I can actually have good elimination. 00:14:01.97\00:14:05.71 But you're saying that's not the case. 00:14:05.91\00:14:07.44 No. That's not the whole story at all. 00:14:07.64\00:14:09.64 OK... all right. Well the story, I'm sure, 00:14:09.84\00:14:13.78 plays out often in your work because you have people who are 00:14:13.98\00:14:18.02 showing up. And I think you have a story that you were telling me 00:14:18.22\00:14:20.42 about. What was this? Yeah, I think one of the most 00:14:20.62\00:14:23.56 recent experiences that I had was a patient who came in 00:14:23.76\00:14:27.23 who was completely backed up 00:14:27.43\00:14:30.80 and came in with constipation. And as a result of how 00:14:31.00\00:14:35.57 toxic her environment was she actually went into complete 00:14:35.77\00:14:39.37 failure of all her different organs. 00:14:39.57\00:14:41.58 Did she live? The sad thing is she passed on 00:14:43.18\00:14:47.22 but after so many different measures that we had to 00:14:47.42\00:14:49.88 try and do to save her life. 00:14:50.09\00:14:51.45 But her entire colon system was completely clogged up. 00:14:51.85\00:14:55.56 And I think it was for me something that really helped me 00:14:55.76\00:15:00.66 understand the seriousness of how constipation is really 00:15:00.86\00:15:03.60 an issue. We want to hear what people are saying 00:15:03.80\00:15:06.77 and thinking on the street. But before we do that 00:15:06.97\00:15:09.84 let's get a sense from you both. What's causing constipation? 00:15:10.04\00:15:14.98 What is causing people to not be able to eliminate 00:15:15.18\00:15:18.51 properly? Is it food? Is it diet? Is it exercise? 00:15:18.71\00:15:21.55 Not enough water? What? 00:15:21.75\00:15:23.08 Yes. Just yes? A simple answer. 00:15:23.12\00:15:26.15 We need water. 75% of the stool is water. 00:15:26.35\00:15:29.72 75% of the stool is water. We need exercise. 00:15:29.92\00:15:32.43 Exercise is essential for movement of the gut, 00:15:32.63\00:15:36.53 for movement of the liver, for digestion efficiency. 00:15:36.73\00:15:40.00 We need food high in fiber that is plant-based diet. 00:15:40.40\00:15:44.87 Does meat have fiber? No. 00:15:45.07\00:15:47.04 No meat has fiber? No. 00:15:47.24\00:15:48.98 So plant-based... we're talking about things from the garden 00:15:49.28\00:15:52.11 again. Yes. OK. 00:15:52.31\00:15:53.95 And things from the garden that we can digest without 00:15:54.15\00:15:57.09 a reaction allergically or hyper sensitively. 00:15:57.29\00:16:00.16 So nothing that triggers inflammation 00:16:00.36\00:16:02.32 otherwise inflammation will slow things down. 00:16:02.72\00:16:05.06 Narcotics slow down the gut. Morphine for example. 00:16:05.46\00:16:08.66 Some of these strong pain killers will paralyze the gut. 00:16:08.86\00:16:12.07 So these are very serious issues. 00:16:12.27\00:16:14.67 As I mentioned, if a woman is perimenopausal it's an issue. 00:16:14.87\00:16:17.94 So we need to deal with also enzymes from the pancreas, 00:16:18.14\00:16:21.68 B12, these kinds of needs nutritionally for some people 00:16:21.88\00:16:25.61 to support their digestive efficiency. 00:16:25.81\00:16:28.88 Oh boy. Now some people are going to be a little hot about 00:16:29.08\00:16:32.35 this one: snacking. Ooh! 00:16:32.55\00:16:34.72 Snacking. I'm glad you asked. 00:16:34.92\00:16:36.59 The body requires four hours between meals 00:16:36.99\00:16:41.46 to complete the digestive sequence of the meal we ate. 00:16:41.66\00:16:44.90 Now, if we snack or chew gum 00:16:45.87\00:16:49.74 or do anything that has to be digested 00:16:49.94\00:16:52.81 or swallowed that is a food or the body perceives it as a food 00:16:53.01\00:16:56.68 we now interrupt the digestive process 00:16:56.88\00:16:59.71 so food that's trying to get digested never finishes. 00:17:00.02\00:17:03.69 Now many people out there are thinking: 00:17:04.09\00:17:06.62 "Well I don't usually snack" because they think snacks are 00:17:06.82\00:17:10.39 some cookies or cakes and things like that. 00:17:10.59\00:17:12.79 But snacking... that's not what we mean, do we Vera? 00:17:12.99\00:17:16.23 Right. Snacking can be what? Chewing gum like he mentioned. 00:17:16.43\00:17:19.93 Or, you know, drinking juice. 00:17:20.14\00:17:23.10 Between a major meal anything that you take in 00:17:23.41\00:17:27.24 is actually considered snacking. 00:17:27.44\00:17:29.81 Because you should have one full meal and you wait 00:17:30.01\00:17:32.65 until the next one. Correct. But a lot of times people think 00:17:32.85\00:17:35.48 "It's a couple of hours later... I'll have something light 00:17:35.68\00:17:39.45 as a snack. " There's a fallacy to that 00:17:39.65\00:17:42.79 because we never finish digesting the last meal. 00:17:42.99\00:17:45.39 So now we set ourselves up for allergy or hyper sensitive 00:17:45.59\00:17:48.86 reactions to foods, incomplete digestion, 00:17:49.06\00:17:52.13 incomplete protein assimilation. Wow! 00:17:52.33\00:17:54.77 And we now set ourselves up for even auto immune conditions 00:17:54.97\00:17:57.71 that attack the body. It's very serious. 00:17:57.91\00:18:01.21 You know, I always like to say when I share health talks 00:18:01.41\00:18:05.38 with people I say: "You know, never invite 00:18:05.58\00:18:09.08 a guest into your house 00:18:09.48\00:18:12.49 that doesn't want to leave or doesn't know when to leave 00:18:12.69\00:18:16.59 because this body is a house, isn't it? Right. 00:18:16.79\00:18:20.10 We're going to look at that from the scriptures 00:18:20.40\00:18:23.40 to see just how this body is a temple. 00:18:23.60\00:18:26.13 But why don't we turn to the monitor, and let's see 00:18:26.43\00:18:29.30 what people are saying on the streets. 00:18:29.50\00:18:31.87 Mark, I want to ask you about... how do we say this? 00:18:34.18\00:18:36.61 Constipation. Umm... not a good thing. 00:18:36.81\00:18:40.98 Backed up... can't release. 00:18:41.18\00:18:42.98 But you have all that goodness in you, just get to enjoy it 00:18:43.18\00:18:45.69 for a few hours longer. Don't want to hold all that in. 00:18:45.89\00:18:48.26 Why wouldn't you want to hold it in? 00:18:48.46\00:18:49.92 Hold in all the extra goodness? Not a good thing. 00:18:50.33\00:18:53.50 How often do you think we should have to go to the bathroom? 00:18:53.70\00:18:55.56 Oh twice a day at least. Twice a day? That's disgusting! 00:18:55.76\00:18:58.53 What about once a week? Unh-um. 00:18:58.73\00:19:00.97 I'm trying to get people to go on the once a week plan. 00:19:01.17\00:19:03.24 Mark, will you sign up for the once a week go to the bathroom 00:19:03.44\00:19:05.21 plan? Ooh... Just gonna hold it in. No. 00:19:05.41\00:19:07.78 Ah man, I need you to do this for me. 00:19:07.98\00:19:09.41 A few days? There's no way. Ah, man! 00:19:09.61\00:19:11.45 How often do you go to the bathroom? Let's get a little 00:19:11.65\00:19:13.52 personal. Maybe like three or four times a day? 00:19:13.72\00:19:16.32 She's disgusting. Can you give me a real answer? 00:19:16.72\00:19:19.72 I mean it depends on how much coffee I drink. 00:19:19.92\00:19:21.69 I might be on there ten times a day! 00:19:21.89\00:19:23.63 I don't really want to know about your business - OK - 00:19:23.83\00:19:26.90 except right now. Um-hmm. What do you think about goin' 00:19:27.10\00:19:29.83 you know #2? Once a week? 00:19:30.03\00:19:33.13 Oh no! Oh no... that's right. 00:19:33.44\00:19:35.80 Once every two weeks? Oh no. 00:19:36.00\00:19:38.67 Well what are we talking? Just be honest. 00:19:38.87\00:19:40.88 Daily... daily! Daily? 00:19:41.08\00:19:43.68 Twice a day. You are getting more disgusting by the moment! 00:19:43.98\00:19:48.65 OK... I'm in good company. 00:19:48.85\00:19:50.32 Oh, you mean I'm disgusting too, huh? 00:19:50.52\00:19:52.62 Well that's just wonderful. Um-hmm. 00:19:52.82\00:19:55.26 Yep, it's the blues. People were not "moved" by this topic! 00:19:55.46\00:19:59.19 They wanted to eliminate the conversation. 00:19:59.59\00:20:02.80 The business of doing your business 00:20:03.00\00:20:05.87 was not interesting. Back to you, Rico. 00:20:06.07\00:20:09.67 Well, we've heard it from the street. 00:20:12.04\00:20:14.01 I don't know if it's credible, though. 00:20:14.21\00:20:15.98 So let's take this more down the spiritual path 00:20:16.18\00:20:19.75 because as I mentioned just before we went to the... 00:20:19.95\00:20:24.09 the man on the street and Sickness 00:20:24.39\00:20:26.72 they're sharing with us what people are saying there. 00:20:26.92\00:20:29.72 I mentioned that this body is like a house, 00:20:29.92\00:20:33.36 and we don't want things to come in that don't know when 00:20:33.56\00:20:37.17 to leave... like cheese. Like different types of meat 00:20:37.37\00:20:40.74 that don't have fiber. Let's turn to the scriptures 00:20:40.94\00:20:43.57 because it talks about this body being a temple 00:20:43.77\00:20:46.31 or a building... but not just any kind of building - right - 00:20:46.51\00:20:50.15 but a building where who wants to live? God wants to live. 00:20:50.35\00:20:53.82 So let's take a look. Amen. Let's turn to II Corinthians. 00:20:54.02\00:20:56.28 II Corinthians chapter 6 and verse 16. 00:20:56.48\00:21:01.12 And I'm going to read from the King James version 00:21:01.32\00:21:03.29 of the Bible. And it says: 00:21:03.49\00:21:05.49 Now early on in the program you said that we're hardwired. 00:21:21.94\00:21:27.02 That we are more than just a body. 00:21:27.22\00:21:30.89 There are other dynamics at work here, right? 00:21:31.29\00:21:34.92 Absolutely. Talk about that and I'm going to want to go 00:21:35.12\00:21:37.19 to you, Vera. I'll give you an example. 00:21:37.39\00:21:39.23 We know full well that the gut is hardwired to the brain. 00:21:39.63\00:21:43.37 We see this in autistic children for example. 00:21:44.57\00:21:46.77 When we change their diets we start seeing their 00:21:46.97\00:21:48.80 temperaments change. We see it in ADD kids routinely. 00:21:49.00\00:21:52.97 But it's deeper than that. If our gut is toxic, 00:21:54.24\00:21:58.28 then that toxic material must process through the liver. 00:21:59.61\00:22:04.05 The liver gets overwhelmed. 00:22:04.79\00:22:06.69 It has to process through the kidneys. They get overwhelmed. 00:22:06.89\00:22:09.59 It processes the lymphatics in the skin. 00:22:09.79\00:22:11.96 All the while the brain is also having to contend with this. 00:22:12.93\00:22:16.16 They don't get enough sleep: the brain can't detoxify. 00:22:16.56\00:22:20.20 This is known science. When this happens 00:22:20.40\00:22:23.74 then we become so clouded in our thinking - 00:22:23.94\00:22:26.91 foggy headed... we can't think clearly - 00:22:27.11\00:22:30.15 that even when we hear the Word of God we can't discern 00:22:30.35\00:22:33.88 its meaning. We can't hear that still small voice 00:22:34.08\00:22:37.55 and respond. 00:22:37.75\00:22:39.22 Whoa. Nor can we appreciate the atoning sacrifice of Christ 00:22:39.42\00:22:42.69 and the value of His blood. What a thought! 00:22:42.89\00:22:45.83 Now Vera, I think what we're hearing here: 00:22:46.03\00:22:48.93 if you're backed up physically then you may be backed up 00:22:49.13\00:22:52.10 in these other two areas of man's make up. 00:22:52.30\00:22:56.10 Yes. And I believe it's because when God made man 00:22:56.50\00:23:00.48 He made him mind and body and spirit. 00:23:00.68\00:23:03.14 And when God talks about healing 00:23:03.45\00:23:06.05 He wants a whole man... not just physical 00:23:06.25\00:23:09.72 but He also wants spiritual healing and mental healing. 00:23:09.92\00:23:13.52 And this is what's so valuable about health 00:23:13.92\00:23:16.93 and even the principles found in the scriptures is 00:23:17.13\00:23:19.83 to help tie the whole man. And one of my favorite verses 00:23:20.03\00:23:24.17 in the book of Ephesians chapter 2 verses 19-22 00:23:24.47\00:23:28.27 if we can turn there is 00:23:28.47\00:23:30.27 the promise of why the body is made the way it is 00:23:30.47\00:23:34.58 and what God seeks to do as a result of us being 00:23:34.78\00:23:38.11 cleansed spiritually, physically, mentally. 00:23:38.31\00:23:42.58 Ephesians 2:19-22: 00:23:42.98\00:23:47.06 "So then you are no longer strangers and aliens 00:23:47.26\00:23:50.86 but you are fellow citizens with the saints and the members 00:23:51.06\00:23:54.46 of the household of God. Built on the foundation of 00:23:54.66\00:23:57.53 the apostles and prophets, Christ Jesus Himself 00:23:57.73\00:24:00.27 being the Cornerstone. In whom the whole structure 00:24:00.47\00:24:03.10 being joined together grows into a holy temple 00:24:03.30\00:24:06.61 in the Lord. In Him you also are being built 00:24:06.81\00:24:10.38 together into a dwelling place for God 00:24:10.58\00:24:13.38 by the Spirit. " That is a powerful text and concept! 00:24:13.58\00:24:18.02 Can you believe it? We're built up as a house. 00:24:18.22\00:24:20.46 Ah, we could go on all day but our time is done. 00:24:20.86\00:24:24.69 You're going to have to just join us the next time here on 00:24:24.89\00:24:27.00 From Sickness to Health. We look forward to the next time 00:24:27.20\00:24:30.10 when we bring the physical and the spiritual together. 00:24:30.40\00:24:32.97 You know, I remember the first time that my doctor 00:24:35.74\00:24:38.04 asked me how often I did my business. 00:24:38.34\00:24:40.78 I have to admit I thought it was a little inappropriate. 00:24:40.98\00:24:43.35 At the same time I realized that talking openly 00:24:43.75\00:24:46.82 about your bathroom habits is very important. 00:24:47.02\00:24:49.95 We don't want you to be constipated. 00:24:51.12\00:24:52.72 There... I've said it. Yep, you've said it. 00:24:53.12\00:24:56.32 That's right.
