live with my mother

when she was on her medication.

My mom was bipolar, and
she married an alcoholic

who was very abusive and
the only thing that got me

through my
teenage years was church,

but the church
that I went to taught me

that I had to be
perfect for God to love me.

My family taught
me I had to be perfect

to be loved by them and I
tried so hard to be perfect.

I tried to please God.

I tried to perform for God,

but like the testimonies
that we heard earlier,

you know, I turned
my back on the Lord.

I didn't do anything illegal.

I just turned my back
on him, because I gave up.
