All right, the good news. 00:01:26.48\00:01:27.92 Let's start off with the good news. 00:01:27.95\00:01:29.28 Here's the good news. 00:01:29.32\00:01:30.65 The good news is that our life 00:01:30.69\00:01:33.69 expectancy has improved globally 00:01:33.72\00:01:37.59 over the last number of years in particular 00:01:37.63\00:01:40.16 in the last century, in the 20th century. 00:01:40.20\00:01:43.97 As you can see from this graph, 00:01:44.00\00:01:46.84 the life expectancy has been rising and rising. 00:01:46.87\00:01:50.47 However, here is the bad news. 00:01:50.51\00:01:51.97 The bad news is this. 00:01:52.01\00:01:54.08 And that is according to this ABC News article, 00:01:54.11\00:01:58.21 August 28, 2015. 00:01:58.25\00:02:00.08 The title, "Global life expectancy rises, 00:02:00.12\00:02:03.49 but research shows people just leave sicker for longer." 00:02:03.52\00:02:08.76 Notice these words from the article, 00:02:08.79\00:02:10.89 "People around the world are living longer, 00:02:10.93\00:02:13.19 but many are also living sicker lives for longer, 00:02:13.23\00:02:16.53 according to a study of all major diseases 00:02:16.56\00:02:19.57 and injuries in 188 countries." 00:02:19.60\00:02:23.00 Let me share with you some more data. 00:02:23.04\00:02:26.24 This was from another ABC News article, 00:02:26.27\00:02:29.31 November 14, 2019. 00:02:29.34\00:02:31.85 The headline, "Chart of the day: 00:02:31.88\00:02:34.05 Half the world's deaths 00:02:34.08\00:02:35.65 are from four preventable factors". 00:02:35.68\00:02:38.65 There were some 57 million people 00:02:38.69\00:02:40.46 that died in 2017. 00:02:40.49\00:02:43.32 And notice how they died. 00:02:43.36\00:02:45.49 "The deadliest things on the planet aren't guns, 00:02:45.53\00:02:48.26 sharks or even road accidents." 00:02:48.30\00:02:50.03 That's what we hear on the news, don't we? 00:02:50.07\00:02:51.67 We hear about these things on the news, 00:02:51.70\00:02:53.34 but notice the things that kill us. 00:02:53.37\00:02:56.77 "Of all the things that killed people last year," 00:02:56.81\00:02:59.27 as I pointed out some 57 million people died in 2017. 00:02:59.31\00:03:04.71 "More than half of deaths are attributed to just four," 00:03:04.75\00:03:08.48 that very important word preventable risk factors. 00:03:08.52\00:03:11.82 We're going to come across that word over and over again. 00:03:11.85\00:03:14.39 "And those four factors are high blood pressure, 00:03:14.42\00:03:17.03 smoking, high blood glucose and high body mass index 00:03:17.06\00:03:21.56 according to a series of reports published 00:03:21.60\00:03:23.97 in The Lancet," 00:03:24.00\00:03:25.73 which is one of the most prestigious 00:03:25.77\00:03:28.04 and respected medical journals. 00:03:28.07\00:03:30.54 So what is killing us is preventable 00:03:30.57\00:03:34.94 for more than half the population. 00:03:34.98\00:03:39.21 Let's bring it closer to home, that was worldwide. 00:03:39.25\00:03:42.32 Now let's bring it closer to home. 00:03:42.35\00:03:43.75 Let's take a look at Australia's health report card. 00:03:43.79\00:03:47.62 Are you ready for this? 00:03:47.66\00:03:49.09 Have you got your seat belts on? 00:03:49.12\00:03:50.46 Are you ready? 00:03:50.49\00:03:51.83 Well, here we go, ready or not, 00:03:51.86\00:03:53.19 I'm going to share with you. 00:03:53.23\00:03:54.56 This is from the Australian 00:03:54.60\00:03:55.93 Institute of Health and Welfare. 00:03:55.96\00:03:57.30 This is a biannual government 00:03:57.33\00:04:00.64 sponsored program that, 00:04:00.67\00:04:05.34 that looks to take a look at where we are in health. 00:04:05.37\00:04:08.74 This is a summary from this media release 00:04:08.78\00:04:12.95 back in June 20, 2018. 00:04:12.98\00:04:16.05 So this is in Australia. 00:04:16.08\00:04:18.52 "Half of Australians have 00:04:18.55\00:04:19.89 a common chronic health condition, 00:04:19.92\00:04:21.56 such as diabetes, heart disease, 00:04:21.59\00:04:23.66 a mental illness, or cancer. 00:04:23.69\00:04:25.49 Importantly, almost a quarter of us have 00:04:25.53\00:04:28.36 two or more of these conditions, 00:04:28.40\00:04:30.43 often making our experiences of health 00:04:30.47\00:04:32.97 and healthcare particularly complex." 00:04:33.00\00:04:36.10 Secondly, "Many chronic health conditions 00:04:36.14\00:04:38.57 share common preventable risk factors such as smoking, 00:04:38.61\00:04:41.61 excessive alcohol consumption, 00:04:41.64\00:04:43.85 and not getting enough exercise. 00:04:43.88\00:04:45.58 In fact, around one-third 00:04:45.61\00:04:47.42 of our nation's 'disease burden' 00:04:47.45\00:04:49.45 is due to" what's that word? 00:04:49.48\00:04:51.49 "Preventable risk factors." There is that word again. 00:04:51.52\00:04:54.99 "Sixty three percent of Australians, 18 years 00:04:55.02\00:04:57.69 or over are overweight or obese." 00:04:57.73\00:05:01.20 And finally, "Health spending continues to rise, 00:05:01.23\00:05:04.97 reaching 170 billion dollars in 2015 and 16 00:05:05.00\00:05:09.40 and outstripping population growth." 00:05:09.44\00:05:11.91 So that is our report card here in Australia. 00:05:11.94\00:05:16.41 Now there is a significant 00:05:16.44\00:05:17.78 health crisis in the area of diabetes, 00:05:17.81\00:05:22.82 Type 2 diabetes in particular. 00:05:22.85\00:05:24.65 Notice this headline, 00:05:24.69\00:05:26.15 ABC News article September 4, 2018. 00:05:26.19\00:05:29.79 "Type 2 diabetes: Understanding Australia's 00:05:29.82\00:05:33.46 fastest growing chronic condition." 00:05:33.50\00:05:36.36 That is lifestyle related, 00:05:36.40\00:05:38.27 Type 2 diabetes is lifestyle related. 00:05:38.30\00:05:41.84 All the evidence is in, 80 to 85 to possibly 90% 00:05:41.87\00:05:47.31 of the 2 million Australians that suffer from diabetes 00:05:47.34\00:05:51.18 today are affected by Type 2 diabetes, 00:05:51.21\00:05:55.28 which is by and large lifestyle related. 00:05:55.32\00:05:59.09 And as the headline points out, 00:05:59.12\00:06:00.76 it's Australia's fastest growing chronic condition. 00:06:00.79\00:06:05.66 Now is that God's plan for you and I? 00:06:05.69\00:06:08.23 I don't think so. 00:06:08.26\00:06:09.60 Notice what Jesus had to say in John 10:10, 00:06:09.63\00:06:12.47 "The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, 00:06:12.50\00:06:15.24 and to destroy." 00:06:15.27\00:06:16.60 And who do you think the thief might be? 00:06:16.64\00:06:19.01 That's the enemy. That's the devil himself. 00:06:19.04\00:06:21.11 That's his aim. 00:06:21.14\00:06:22.48 That's his plan for you and I, to steal, 00:06:22.51\00:06:24.65 kill and destroy our health and our well-being. 00:06:24.68\00:06:27.48 But Jesus says, "I have come that they may have," what? 00:06:27.52\00:06:31.25 "Life, and that they may have it more," what? 00:06:31.29\00:06:34.12 "Abundantly." John 10:10. 00:06:34.16\00:06:36.83 So that's God's plan for us. 00:06:36.86\00:06:38.19 God's plan for us is to enjoy the abundant life. 00:06:38.23\00:06:42.16 I like to put it this way. 00:06:42.20\00:06:43.83 God's promise of an abundant life 00:06:43.87\00:06:46.00 is not only about quantity, but about quality of life. 00:06:46.03\00:06:51.31 As far as I'm concerned, what I'm focused on 00:06:51.34\00:06:54.74 more than anything else is quality of life. 00:06:54.78\00:06:58.41 I would rather have 60 or 50 good quality 00:06:58.45\00:07:02.55 and healthy years than have 70 or more years, 00:07:02.58\00:07:06.25 where I'm suffering chronic pain 00:07:06.29\00:07:08.56 and having chronic health issues. 00:07:08.59\00:07:11.53 But God's plan is that we will have both, 00:07:11.56\00:07:14.33 that you can have your cake and eat it too. 00:07:14.36\00:07:16.36 Maybe that's not a good way of putting it. 00:07:16.40\00:07:19.83 Happy and healthy guy can eat it too. 00:07:19.87\00:07:22.70 God wants us to enjoy quantity and quality of years. 00:07:22.74\00:07:28.68 So how can we do that? 00:07:28.71\00:07:30.58 We're going to pray and we gonna once again 00:07:30.61\00:07:32.95 go to God's instruction manual, the Bible, 00:07:32.98\00:07:36.22 to discover the secret 00:07:36.25\00:07:38.45 to how we can enjoy happy and healthy living. 00:07:38.49\00:07:42.69 Amen? Let's pray. 00:07:42.72\00:07:44.23 Father in heaven, we once again before 00:07:44.26\00:07:46.59 we open Your Word, we ask and pray that 00:07:46.63\00:07:49.10 You give us understanding so that as we open Your Word, 00:07:49.13\00:07:52.60 You will open our hearts and our minds and enable us 00:07:52.63\00:07:55.80 to understand what Your plan is for us that 00:07:55.84\00:07:59.71 we may enjoy the abundant life experience 00:07:59.74\00:08:03.41 that you have for each and every person. 00:08:03.45\00:08:04.85 So wherever we may be watching or listening from, 00:08:04.88\00:08:08.32 we pray that this will be a blessing, 00:08:08.35\00:08:10.99 a life changing blessing. 00:08:11.02\00:08:12.89 And this is our prayer in Jesus' name. 00:08:12.92\00:08:15.09 Amen. Amen. 00:08:15.12\00:08:16.46 Let's go and take a look 00:08:19.53\00:08:22.36 at the World Health Organization, 00:08:22.40\00:08:24.70 1948 definition for health. 00:08:24.73\00:08:27.44 The World Health Organization defines health 00:08:27.47\00:08:30.14 in the following way. 00:08:30.17\00:08:31.51 "Health is a state of complete physical, 00:08:31.54\00:08:33.71 mental and social well-being 00:08:33.74\00:08:35.84 and not merely the absence of diseas 00:08:35.88\00:08:37.71 or infirmity." 00:08:37.75\00:08:39.18 With all due respect 00:08:39.21\00:08:40.55 to the World Health Organization definition, 00:08:40.58\00:08:42.28 I believe that it is lacking one all important element. 00:08:42.32\00:08:45.55 And so if I was to share a definition on health, 00:08:45.59\00:08:50.63 and I believe it's very much backed up by 00:08:50.66\00:08:53.70 solid strong evidence, 00:08:53.73\00:08:55.06 this is what I would include. 00:08:55.10\00:08:56.43 Here is my definition. 00:08:56.46\00:08:58.40 "Health is a state of complete physical, mental, social," 00:08:58.43\00:09:01.30 and what's that word? 00:09:01.34\00:09:02.70 "Spiritual well-being and not merely 00:09:02.74\00:09:04.67 the absence of disease or infirmity." 00:09:04.71\00:09:08.51 The truth is, you and I have been 00:09:08.54\00:09:11.41 created with this four dimensional 00:09:11.45\00:09:14.52 aspect of health and well-being. 00:09:14.55\00:09:16.05 Notice what we read in Luke 2:52 regarding Jesus, 00:09:16.08\00:09:20.59 "And Jesus increased in wisdom and stature, 00:09:20.62\00:09:23.46 and in favor with God and men." 00:09:23.49\00:09:26.09 Here we have four dimensional living. 00:09:26.13\00:09:28.83 Let me share with you as we take a look at 00:09:28.86\00:09:32.03 that scripture again. 00:09:32.07\00:09:33.50 Wisdom is what? 00:09:33.54\00:09:35.64 Mental health and well-being, 00:09:35.67\00:09:37.97 stature, physical health and well-being, 00:09:38.01\00:09:41.74 with God, that spiritual health 00:09:41.78\00:09:43.61 and well-being, and finally with men, 00:09:43.65\00:09:45.68 that social health and well-being, 00:09:45.71\00:09:47.35 all four of these are important. 00:09:47.38\00:09:49.62 And along with mental, 00:09:49.65\00:09:50.99 I would also include emotional health 00:09:51.02\00:09:53.42 and well-being, the two go hand in hand. 00:09:53.46\00:09:57.46 Now as we take a look at the all important 00:09:57.49\00:10:00.50 four dimensional living, notice what we discover. 00:10:00.53\00:10:04.47 That at the very beginning of time in Genesis 1:27, 00:10:04.50\00:10:07.74 we discovered that "God created man 00:10:07.77\00:10:10.11 in His own image, in the image of God, 00:10:10.14\00:10:12.21 He created him, 00:10:12.24\00:10:13.58 male and female He created them." 00:10:13.61\00:10:15.24 So as Jesus excelled 00:10:15.28\00:10:17.25 in these four dimensions of life, 00:10:17.28\00:10:20.08 the mental and emotional, the spiritual, 00:10:20.12\00:10:22.85 the social and the physical, so too God created us 00:10:22.88\00:10:26.65 in His image, that we too would excel 00:10:26.69\00:10:29.82 in the same four dimensions. 00:10:29.86\00:10:34.13 Optimum health and well-being is to be 00:10:34.16\00:10:37.33 discovered in God's four dimensional plan 00:10:37.37\00:10:39.70 for a happy and healthy life, 00:10:39.73\00:10:41.50 physical, mental, social, and spiritual. 00:10:41.54\00:10:45.51 Let me share with you this very popular, 00:10:45.54\00:10:50.11 one of the most popular editions 00:10:50.15\00:10:51.91 of National Geographic back in November 2005, 00:10:51.95\00:10:56.12 entitled "The Secrets of Living Longer." 00:10:56.15\00:11:00.49 And here on the front cover, we have a picture 00:11:00.52\00:11:03.73 of this 84 year old Japanese man, 00:11:03.76\00:11:07.60 Fumiyasu Yamakawa, how did I go? 00:11:07.63\00:11:12.83 About 3 out of 10. 00:11:12.87\00:11:15.30 He is 84 years old. 00:11:15.34\00:11:17.24 And yes, he's standing on his head. 00:11:17.27\00:11:19.41 He is doing some exercises 00:11:19.44\00:11:21.64 and he is preparing for a decathlon 00:11:21.68\00:11:25.58 or a heptathlon. 00:11:25.61\00:11:26.95 And guess what his favorite activities are? 00:11:26.98\00:11:29.82 High Jump and pole vault. 00:11:29.85\00:11:31.52 How many of you would like to attempt high jump 00:11:31.55\00:11:33.39 and pole vault at 84? 00:11:33.42\00:11:35.29 Okay, I would. 00:11:35.32\00:11:38.79 Now it's fascinating how this article begins. 00:11:38.83\00:11:42.53 Notice how this Time, sorry, 00:11:42.56\00:11:44.93 this National Geographic article 00:11:44.97\00:11:48.14 on the Secrets to Living Longer begins. 00:11:48.17\00:11:51.44 The article by Dan Beuttner 00:11:51.47\00:11:53.48 who researched the happiest 00:11:53.51\00:11:55.08 and the healthiest people on the planet. 00:11:55.11\00:11:56.81 And we'll get to that as we go along. 00:11:56.85\00:11:58.18 He says. 00:11:58.21\00:11:59.55 "What if I said to you, 00:11:59.58\00:12:00.92 you could add up to ten years to your life? 00:12:00.95\00:12:02.65 A long healthy life is no accident. 00:12:02.68\00:12:04.65 It begins with good genes, 00:12:04.69\00:12:06.45 but it also depends on good habits. 00:12:06.49\00:12:08.52 If you adopt the right lifestyle, 00:12:08.56\00:12:10.23 experts say, chances are you may live up 00:12:10.26\00:12:12.59 to a decade longer. 00:12:12.63\00:12:14.10 So what's the formula for success? 00:12:14.13\00:12:16.26 In recent years researchers have fanned out 00:12:16.30\00:12:18.57 across the globe to find the secrets to long life. 00:12:18.60\00:12:21.47 The first three regions 00:12:21.50\00:12:22.84 where people are living significantly longer, 00:12:22.87\00:12:25.57 produce a high rate of centenarians, 00:12:25.61\00:12:28.04 suffer a fraction of the diseases 00:12:28.08\00:12:29.98 that commonly kill people in other parts 00:12:30.01\00:12:31.88 of the developed world, 00:12:31.91\00:12:33.25 and enjoy more happy and healthy years. 00:12:33.28\00:12:36.45 Hence my title. 00:12:36.48\00:12:38.29 They are to be found in Sardinia, Italy, Okinawa, 00:12:38.32\00:12:41.46 Japan, and Loma Linda, California." 00:12:41.49\00:12:44.53 Now, this group of people has been added to 00:12:44.56\00:12:50.20 by two other groups. 00:12:50.23\00:12:52.27 And another one is to be found in Nicoya, 00:12:52.30\00:12:54.80 Costa Rica as you can see there on the map 00:12:54.84\00:12:56.84 and another one being Ikaria, Greece. 00:12:56.87\00:12:59.74 Now, the fascinating group, 00:12:59.77\00:13:01.31 the most fascinating group of these five 00:13:01.34\00:13:03.65 is the group in Loma Linda, California. 00:13:03.68\00:13:06.21 Now, what's so fascinating about them, you ask? 00:13:06.25\00:13:08.58 Well, we'll get to that in just a moment. 00:13:08.62\00:13:10.79 But before that, a number of books 00:13:10.82\00:13:13.36 have been written by Dan Beuttner 00:13:13.39\00:13:15.36 on this very subject 00:13:15.39\00:13:17.03 that he has been studying now for a number of years. 00:13:17.06\00:13:20.73 The Blue Zones Solution, The Blue Zones of Happiness, 00:13:20.76\00:13:24.33 The Blue Zones, Thrive, Finding Happiness, 00:13:24.37\00:13:28.04 The Blue Zones Way. 00:13:28.07\00:13:29.40 Now you might be thinking, 00:13:29.44\00:13:30.77 "What's these Blue Zones business all about? 00:13:30.81\00:13:32.54 Why are they called Blue Zones?" 00:13:32.57\00:13:34.54 Well simply put, when the researchers 00:13:34.58\00:13:37.15 fanned out across the globe, 00:13:37.18\00:13:38.78 and they wanted to find out the places 00:13:38.81\00:13:41.72 in the world where people live the happiest 00:13:41.75\00:13:43.79 and the healthiest 00:13:43.82\00:13:45.15 where they suffer the least disease, 00:13:45.19\00:13:46.72 and they live the longest. 00:13:46.76\00:13:49.26 What they did, every time they came across a group, 00:13:49.29\00:13:51.96 a significant group, 00:13:51.99\00:13:53.33 they would put a blue circle on the map 00:13:53.36\00:13:56.10 to designate where they came from. 00:13:56.13\00:13:58.27 And so these people became known as the Blue Zones people. 00:13:58.30\00:14:03.41 And so, that's how they got their name. 00:14:03.44\00:14:06.94 Now, another National Geographic magazine 00:14:06.98\00:14:10.58 in 2016 Special Edition came out, 00:14:10.61\00:14:14.02 and it was entitled, Blue Zones, 00:14:14.05\00:14:16.18 The Science Of Living Longer. 00:14:16.22\00:14:18.79 So now, researchers and scientists have been 00:14:18.82\00:14:22.29 working hard to find out what is it? 00:14:22.32\00:14:26.06 What is it that brings these people to a point 00:14:26.09\00:14:29.00 of living long and living well? 00:14:29.03\00:14:32.97 That is what they have sought to find out, 00:14:33.00\00:14:35.14 what are the key ingredients. 00:14:35.17\00:14:38.27 Time magazine back in February 26, 2018, 00:14:38.31\00:14:42.68 also featured on this very powerful phenomena. 00:14:42.71\00:14:49.12 And the title was, How to Live Longer Better, 00:14:49.15\00:14:53.15 How to Live Longer Better. 00:14:53.19\00:14:55.12 And so I want to share with you 00:14:55.16\00:14:56.76 some of the conclusions that these researchers discovered, 00:14:56.79\00:15:02.23 Dan Beuttner and others regarding 00:15:02.26\00:15:04.60 what makes these people tick. 00:15:04.63\00:15:07.84 Why do these people that live in these communities 00:15:07.87\00:15:10.84 live significantly longer and live without 00:15:10.87\00:15:13.64 the chronic diseases that affect 00:15:13.68\00:15:17.15 most people in the world, 00:15:17.18\00:15:18.51 in particular, the Western world. 00:15:18.55\00:15:20.38 And there are eight key areas that I have discovered 00:15:20.42\00:15:23.18 as I've examined the evidence, and here they are. 00:15:23.22\00:15:26.32 All five groups had the following in common, 00:15:26.35\00:15:28.12 there are differences between the groups, 00:15:28.16\00:15:30.39 but these eight points they all had in common. 00:15:30.43\00:15:33.03 Predominantly, they eat fruits, nuts, 00:15:33.06\00:15:35.96 vegetables, and whole grains. 00:15:36.00\00:15:37.33 Secondly, they have constant moderate physical activity. 00:15:37.37\00:15:41.64 They have a positive outlook, they have strong purpose. 00:15:41.67\00:15:45.21 Family is a priority. 00:15:45.24\00:15:47.88 Social engagement is also another high priority, 00:15:47.91\00:15:52.11 and they take time to rest and relax. 00:15:52.15\00:15:54.12 And finally, every single one of the five groups 00:15:54.15\00:15:57.79 have spiritual faith lived out in community. 00:15:57.82\00:16:01.39 And as I took a look at these eight points, 00:16:01.42\00:16:03.93 guess what I discovered? 00:19:13.58\00:19:15.08 I do. 00:19:15.12\00:19:16.45 Well, as we go back to the Book of Revelation, 00:19:16.48\00:19:19.75 God's final message of love to the world, 00:19:19.79\00:19:21.49 notice these words that we read. 00:19:21.52\00:19:24.29 In Revelation 14:6, 00:19:24.33\00:19:26.73 this is the first angel's message, 00:19:26.76\00:19:28.10 "Then I saw another angel flying in the midst of heaven, 00:19:28.13\00:19:30.77 having the everlasting gospel to preach to those 00:19:30.80\00:19:32.80 who dwell on the earth to every nation, tribe, 00:19:32.83\00:19:34.17 tongue and people." 00:19:34.20\00:19:35.54 So this is a message from God 00:19:35.57\00:19:37.31 for the entire planet that will prepare people 00:19:37.34\00:19:39.67 for the Second Coming of Jesus. 00:19:39.71\00:19:41.04 And notice, we keep reading, verse 7, 00:19:41.08\00:19:42.78 "Saying with a loud voice," 00:19:42.81\00:19:44.38 with that megaphone voice, "Fear God," and do what? 00:19:44.41\00:19:48.75 "And give glory to Him." 00:19:48.78\00:19:50.99 Now, what does it mean to fear God, 00:19:51.02\00:19:53.42 and to give glory to Him? 00:19:53.46\00:19:54.79 What does it mean to give glory to God? 00:19:54.82\00:19:57.06 Well, notice what we read in 1 Corinthians 10:31, 00:19:57.09\00:20:01.50 the Apostle Paul writes, "Therefore, 00:20:01.53\00:20:03.40 whether you eat or drink 00:20:03.43\00:20:04.77 or whatever you do, do it all to," what? 00:20:04.80\00:20:07.24 "The glory of God." 00:20:07.27\00:20:08.84 So we are to eat, and we are to drink 00:20:08.87\00:20:12.21 to the glory of God. 00:20:12.24\00:20:14.18 So if we can eat and drink to the glory of God, 00:20:14.21\00:20:17.31 can we also not eat and drink and live to the glory of God? 00:20:17.35\00:20:21.62 Yes, indeed. 00:20:21.65\00:20:23.62 Now, why is it so important for you and I, 00:20:23.65\00:20:26.59 as those who have decided to follow Christ, 00:20:26.62\00:20:30.03 and to be loving and to be loyal to Jesus 00:20:30.06\00:20:33.43 in an end time context? 00:20:33.46\00:20:34.83 Why is it important for you and I to live our lives 00:20:34.86\00:20:37.73 for the honor and glory of God? 00:20:37.77\00:20:39.10 The last time I checked, according to many, 00:20:39.13\00:20:42.47 it's my life, it's my body, 00:20:42.50\00:20:44.57 and I'll do with it as I please. 00:20:44.61\00:20:46.31 Isn't that the philosophy out there by many? 00:20:46.34\00:20:48.71 Eat, drink and be merry for what? 00:20:48.74\00:20:51.05 Tomorrow you, you die. 00:20:51.08\00:20:52.98 So why should I worry? 00:20:53.01\00:20:55.02 Well, a believer in Jesus Christ, for him or her, 00:20:55.05\00:20:59.52 it's about giving glory to God 00:20:59.55\00:21:01.12 for one very important reason amongst many. 00:21:01.16\00:21:04.16 And here it is. 00:21:04.19\00:21:05.86 In 1 Corinthians 6:19-20, 00:21:05.89\00:21:09.23 Paul writing to the believers in Corinth that had 00:21:09.26\00:21:11.73 this dualistic belief about the human body 00:21:11.77\00:21:15.04 where the soul was all important, 00:21:15.07\00:21:18.07 and that's all that mattered and didn't matter 00:21:18.11\00:21:19.97 how you treated your body, and he says to them, 00:21:20.01\00:21:22.51 "Or do you not know that 00:21:22.54\00:21:23.88 your body is the temple of," who? 00:21:23.91\00:21:26.38 "Of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, 00:21:26.41\00:21:27.98 whom you have from God, and you are not your own?" 00:21:28.02\00:21:30.49 Why? 00:21:30.52\00:21:31.85 "For you were bought at a," what? 00:21:31.89\00:21:33.52 "At a price, therefore glorify God 00:21:33.56\00:21:36.39 in your body and in your spirit, 00:21:36.42\00:21:37.99 which are," whose? 00:21:38.03\00:21:39.36 "Which are God's." 00:21:39.39\00:21:40.73 So for the believer in Jesus, 00:21:40.76\00:21:43.16 he or she recognizes that this body doesn't belong 00:21:43.20\00:21:48.20 to him or her. 00:21:48.24\00:21:49.87 It's not my body. 00:21:49.90\00:21:51.87 This body was given to me by God as a gift. 00:21:51.91\00:21:55.18 He is the one that has created me, 00:21:55.21\00:21:57.01 He's the one that gives me life and breathe and sustains me. 00:21:57.05\00:22:00.22 And He's inviting me to live my life 00:22:00.25\00:22:04.29 holy for His honor and glory. 00:22:04.32\00:22:07.42 He wants me to be around for as long as possible, 00:22:07.46\00:22:10.29 not for my sake, but for His sake, 00:22:10.33\00:22:13.93 for God's honor and glory that He may use me 00:22:13.96\00:22:17.53 in the greatest possible way for the greatest possible time 00:22:17.57\00:22:20.74 to lead others to Him. 00:22:20.77\00:22:23.10 Does that make sense, yes or no? 00:22:23.14\00:22:24.94 That is why I have a keen interest in health, 00:22:24.97\00:22:27.18 not because I want to necessarily live 00:22:27.21\00:22:29.54 10 to 12 years longer, that would be lovely. 00:22:29.58\00:22:31.78 But my aim is to glorify God, that God can use me 00:22:31.81\00:22:35.32 in the best possible way for the longest possible time 00:22:35.35\00:22:38.62 to draw as many people to Jesus 00:22:38.65\00:22:40.69 as I possibly can through His strength. 00:22:40.72\00:22:42.66 Amen? That's the whole point. 00:22:42.69\00:22:47.73 The whole point is to fear God and give glory to Him 00:22:47.76\00:22:51.50 and worship Him, 00:22:51.53\00:22:53.37 as that first angel's message says, 00:22:53.40\00:22:55.50 "Who made heaven and earth, 00:22:55.54\00:22:56.94 the sea and the springs of water." 00:22:56.97\00:22:58.31 He is our Creator. 00:22:58.34\00:22:59.71 God is our Creator. 00:22:59.74\00:23:01.54 So how did He make us? 00:23:01.58\00:23:02.91 Let's go to the very beginning of time. 00:23:02.94\00:23:05.15 Let's go to the Book of Genesis, 00:23:05.18\00:23:07.08 where God created Adam and Eve, 00:23:07.12\00:23:09.75 and notice what the Bible says. 00:23:09.78\00:23:12.32 In Genesis 2:8, "The Lord God planted a garden eastward in," 00:23:12.35\00:23:17.53 where, "In Eden, and there He put the man 00:23:17.56\00:23:19.89 and the woman whom He had formed." 00:23:19.93\00:23:22.46 Now notice that word Eden, I looked up that word Eden, 00:23:22.50\00:23:26.00 and the original word Eden in the Hebrew means pleasure 00:23:26.03\00:23:30.17 and delight, and I love that. 00:23:30.21\00:23:32.67 I love that. 00:23:32.71\00:23:34.04 God placed Adam and Eve in a garden 00:23:34.08\00:23:37.31 that was filled with pleasure and what? 00:23:37.35\00:23:39.31 Delight. 00:23:39.35\00:23:40.68 Does that sound like the abundant life 00:23:40.72\00:23:42.75 that God has in store for each and every person? 00:23:42.78\00:23:45.52 Yes, it does. 00:23:45.55\00:23:46.89 God's original plan was for Adam and Eve 00:23:46.92\00:23:49.69 to enjoy communion with one another, 00:23:49.72\00:23:53.29 to enjoy communion with their Creator, 00:23:53.33\00:23:56.87 to enjoy the natural surroundings. 00:23:56.90\00:23:59.47 The animals, and the plants, and the trees, 00:23:59.50\00:24:03.51 and everything God created. 00:24:03.54\00:24:04.97 God created Adam and Eve in a holistic sense 00:24:05.01\00:24:09.24 to enjoy the blessings 00:24:09.28\00:24:11.38 in the four dimensions of health 00:24:11.41\00:24:14.15 and well-being right at the very beginning of time. 00:24:14.18\00:24:17.29 Now when it comes to die, when it comes to fuel, 00:24:17.32\00:24:21.26 what kind of fuel did God gift Adam and Eve? 00:24:21.29\00:24:24.86 When He created them, did He give them 00:24:24.89\00:24:26.90 an instruction manual, as you receive 00:24:26.93\00:24:29.20 when you get a brand new car? 00:24:29.23\00:24:30.83 The answer is yes. The answer is yes. 00:24:30.87\00:24:33.27 Notice what we read. 00:24:33.30\00:24:35.90 Eight powerful secrets to better 00:24:35.94\00:24:37.61 and long-lasting health direct from the Garden of Eden. 00:24:37.64\00:24:41.08 And they begin with this acronym, 00:24:41.11\00:24:46.61 this acronym NEWSTART, popularized by 00:24:46.65\00:24:49.58 a health institute there in the United States of America 00:24:49.62\00:24:53.42 in a place called Weimar in an area 00:24:53.46\00:24:56.99 near the Blue Zones. 00:24:57.03\00:24:58.96 And Weimar back in 1978, if I remember correctly, 00:24:58.99\00:25:03.77 popularized this acronym NEWSTART, 00:25:03.80\00:25:06.63 that stands for total health and well-being. 00:25:06.67\00:25:10.61 As healthy as we can possibly be in this sin sick world 00:25:10.64\00:25:15.34 that we live in, where we just never know 00:25:15.38\00:25:17.95 what's around the corner. 00:25:17.98\00:25:19.48 But how we can enjoy the optimum health 00:25:19.51\00:25:21.45 that God has for us, NEWSTART. 00:25:21.48\00:25:23.12 And that's what we want to take a look at today. 00:25:23.15\00:25:25.69 And we're going to take a look at these eight laws of health 00:25:25.72\00:25:28.36 that don't come to us, originally from Weimar. 00:25:28.39\00:25:30.79 Weimar, there in 00:25:30.83\00:25:32.23 the United States in California, 00:25:32.26\00:25:33.60 they simply took these principles 00:25:33.63\00:25:35.63 straight out of the Garden of Eden. 00:25:35.66\00:25:38.17 And we'll discover who 00:25:38.20\00:25:39.93 more than a century ago popularized 00:25:39.97\00:25:42.64 what we're about to take a look at 00:25:42.67\00:25:44.01 in just a moment. 00:25:44.04\00:25:45.37 So the end, let's start off with the end. 00:25:45.41\00:25:48.08 Well, this new creation, let's talk about that 00:25:48.11\00:25:50.88 for a moment before I run ahead. 00:25:50.91\00:25:52.68 We're in 2 Corinthians 5:17, the Apostle Paul writes, 00:25:52.71\00:25:55.55 "Therefore, if anyone is in Christ," 00:25:55.58\00:25:57.05 he is a what kind of creation? 00:25:57.09\00:25:58.85 "A new creation, old things have passed away, 00:25:58.89\00:26:00.66 behold, all things have become new." 00:26:00.69\00:26:02.66 So this is an opportunity for us to have a new start. 00:26:02.69\00:26:06.19 This is an opportunity for us to make a new beginning. 00:26:06.23\00:26:08.96 So wherever you may be in your journey of health, 00:26:09.00\00:26:13.17 this is an opportunity to make a new start. 00:26:13.20\00:26:15.84 God is in the business of recreating, 00:26:15.87\00:26:18.57 He's in the business of new creation. 00:26:18.61\00:26:21.41 That's what God wants to do, in and for all of us, 00:26:21.44\00:26:24.61 wherever you may be watching or listening 00:26:24.65\00:26:26.41 or those who are here, 00:26:26.45\00:26:27.78 this is an opportunity for us to get on board 00:26:27.82\00:26:30.35 with God's plan for us for optimal health and happiness. 00:26:30.39\00:26:35.12 So let's take a look at that first letter in the acronym N, 00:26:35.16\00:26:40.40 which stands for nutrition. 00:26:40.43\00:26:41.83 We're going to spend most of our time on nutrition 00:26:41.86\00:26:44.27 because nutrition makes up about 70 to 80% 00:26:44.30\00:26:47.57 of our overall health and well-being. 00:26:47.60\00:26:49.94 The majority of the reasons why we suffer 00:26:49.97\00:26:54.38 all these chronic health conditions 00:26:54.41\00:26:57.11 that are detrimental to our health 00:26:57.15\00:26:58.61 and well-being is due to what we put in our mouths. 00:26:58.65\00:27:02.15 So we're going to spend most of our time on that. 00:27:02.18\00:27:04.09 But we're also going to take a look 00:27:04.12\00:27:05.45 at the seven other points. 00:27:05.49\00:27:06.82 Now when it comes to nutrition, 00:27:06.86\00:27:08.19 notice what God gave to Adam and Eve. 00:27:08.22\00:27:10.83 And God said, "See, I have given you every herb 00:27:10.86\00:27:14.03 that yields seed 00:27:14.06\00:27:15.56 which is on the face of all the earth, 00:27:15.60\00:27:17.37 and every tree whose fruit yield seed, 00:27:17.40\00:27:19.53 to you it shall be," what? 00:27:19.57\00:27:21.44 "For food," Genesis 1:29. 00:27:21.47\00:27:22.90 So at the very beginning of time, 00:27:22.94\00:27:24.47 God gave to Adam and Eve, nuts, fruits and grains. 00:27:24.51\00:27:28.68 It was a seed diet. 00:27:28.71\00:27:31.91 After the fall and after they sinned, 00:27:31.95\00:27:34.78 God added one other dimension to their diet. 00:27:34.82\00:27:37.52 And here we have it. 00:27:37.55\00:27:38.89 In Genesis 3:18, we read, 00:27:38.92\00:27:41.19 "Both thorns and thistles it shall bring forth for you 00:27:41.22\00:27:43.86 and you shall eat the," what? 00:27:43.89\00:27:45.59 "The herb of the field." 00:27:45.63\00:27:46.96 And the herb of the field 00:27:47.00\00:27:48.33 there is in reference to vegetables. 00:27:48.36\00:27:49.70 So the original diet of man was nuts, fruits, 00:27:49.73\00:27:53.40 and vegetables, nuts, fruits and grains 00:27:53.44\00:27:56.07 with vegetables added. 00:27:56.10\00:27:57.61 So as you can take a look at these mouth watering pictures, 00:27:57.64\00:28:00.61 and are your saliva glands moved into gear? 00:28:00.64\00:28:06.08 As we take a look at this beautiful fruit, 00:28:06.11\00:28:08.28 as we take a look at the grains, 00:28:08.32\00:28:10.85 the nuts and the grains that Jesus' given, 00:28:10.89\00:28:13.25 that God has given to us, the beautiful vegetables. 00:28:13.29\00:28:15.69 This was God's original diet. 00:28:15.72\00:28:18.79 And today we have discovered 00:28:18.83\00:28:23.13 through science conclusive 00:28:23.16\00:28:25.93 scientific studies that 00:28:25.97\00:28:27.57 "We were created by God to operate 00:28:27.60\00:28:30.71 at peak efficiency and maximum longevity 00:28:30.74\00:28:33.34 on a natural plant based diet." 00:28:33.38\00:28:35.64 The evidence is in today. 00:28:35.68\00:28:37.51 When you read National Geographic, 00:28:37.55\00:28:41.32 when you read other magazines on this very topic, 00:28:41.35\00:28:44.95 when you take a look at the research, 00:28:44.99\00:28:46.69 the evidence is in that the best way forward 00:28:46.72\00:28:50.83 for health and longevity is a plant based diet. 00:28:50.86\00:28:55.93 Now, one of the best, one of the most 00:28:55.96\00:28:59.83 comprehensive studies that 00:28:59.87\00:29:01.97 has ever probably that has been 00:29:02.00\00:29:04.37 conducted is called The China Study. 00:29:04.41\00:29:08.34 The China Study, as it says there in that subheading, 00:29:08.38\00:29:13.11 just above the title. 00:29:13.15\00:29:14.68 It's the most comprehensive study 00:29:14.72\00:29:17.19 of nutrition ever conducted by 00:29:17.22\00:29:19.79 a father and son combination, T Colin Campbell 00:29:19.82\00:29:23.99 and Thomas Campbell, two physicians, 00:29:24.03\00:29:27.03 well respected physicians from the United States. 00:29:27.06\00:29:30.50 And notice the subtitle underneath the title, 00:29:30.53\00:29:32.87 Startling Implications for Diet, 00:29:32.90\00:29:35.04 Weight Loss, and Long Term Health. 00:29:35.07\00:29:37.14 I don't have time to take a look at this study in detail, 00:29:37.17\00:29:42.58 but I just want to share with you a summary. 00:29:42.61\00:29:45.41 Notice the summary. 00:29:45.45\00:29:47.12 The China Study examines the relationship between 00:29:47.15\00:29:50.02 the consumption of animal products, 00:29:50.05\00:29:52.12 including dairy and chronic illnesses 00:29:52.15\00:29:54.26 such as coronary heart disease, 00:29:54.29\00:29:56.32 diabetes, breast cancer, 00:29:56.36\00:29:58.46 prostate cancer and bowel cancer. 00:29:58.49\00:30:00.23 Let me ask you, are these cancers 00:30:00.26\00:30:03.37 something that you and I are familiar with today 00:30:03.40\00:30:05.33 in the Western world in particular? What do we need to do? 00:33:25.60\00:33:27.27 We need to cooperate with Him and what He has given to us. 00:33:27.30\00:33:31.37 Well, you may be thinking, "Oh, I really like my meat. 00:33:31.41\00:33:34.81 I would like to continue to eat my meat." 00:33:34.84\00:33:37.58 Does the Bible have anything to say about that, 00:33:37.61\00:33:40.35 and there are some parts in the world 00:33:40.38\00:33:42.85 where they don't have 00:33:42.88\00:33:45.42 a wide array of fruits, nuts, vegetables 00:33:45.45\00:33:49.22 and grains such as we do here in Australia. 00:33:49.26\00:33:51.66 In Australia, we are blessed. 00:33:51.69\00:33:53.19 We are blessed as my dad referred to Australia 00:33:53.23\00:33:55.76 when he first came almost 50 years ago, 00:33:55.80\00:33:58.30 he referred to Australia as the land flowing 00:33:58.33\00:34:00.44 with milk and honey. 00:34:00.47\00:34:01.94 And it's true, we are blessed in Australia. 00:34:01.97\00:34:04.11 And in many parts of the Western world, 00:34:04.14\00:34:05.47 we are blessed to have 00:34:05.51\00:34:06.84 a wide array of plant based food. 00:34:06.88\00:34:10.41 But there are places around the world 00:34:10.45\00:34:12.61 where people do not have this array 00:34:12.65\00:34:14.58 and they need to have 00:34:14.62\00:34:19.85 some meat products 00:34:19.89\00:34:21.32 in order to make up for that nutritional intake 00:34:21.36\00:34:25.56 that they so desperately need. 00:34:25.59\00:34:26.93 Well, when it comes to meat, what did God say? 00:34:26.96\00:34:29.16 Let's take a look at what the Bible says. 00:34:29.20\00:34:30.87 In Deuteronomy 14:6, God says, 00:34:30.90\00:34:34.04 when it comes to what you can eat, 00:34:34.07\00:34:36.67 in the area of flesh, God says, 00:34:36.71\00:34:39.57 "And you may eat every animal with cloven," what? 00:34:39.61\00:34:42.61 "Hooves, having the hoof split in two parts, 00:34:42.64\00:34:46.21 and that chews the cud, among the animals." 00:34:46.25\00:34:48.42 So animals that chew the cud and have a split hoof, 00:34:48.45\00:34:52.42 like your beef, your sheep, goats and so forth. 00:34:52.45\00:34:58.39 When it comes to the pig, 00:34:58.43\00:35:02.80 is the pig an animal 00:35:02.83\00:35:05.13 that is good to be eaten, yes or no? 00:38:03.11\00:38:06.82 No. what about squid? 00:38:06.85\00:38:08.68 No. What about shellfish? 00:38:08.72\00:38:11.72 No. What about crabs? 00:38:11.75\00:38:13.46 No. What about lobster? 00:38:13.49\00:38:15.06 No, no, no, because they're not clean. 00:38:15.09\00:38:17.33 And there are scientific reasons 00:38:17.36\00:38:19.63 why these creatures are not clean, 00:38:19.66\00:38:21.36 which we don't have time to get into today. 00:38:21.40\00:38:23.57 Well, what about when it comes to the bird life? "All clean birds you may eat." 00:38:30.44\00:38:33.84 Okay, and when you take a look at the list that God gives, 00:38:33.88\00:38:36.34 we're looking at foraging birds, 00:38:36.38\00:38:38.41 we're not looking at the eagle, or the hawk, 00:38:38.45\00:38:43.08 the carnivore kind of birds. 00:38:43.12\00:38:44.79 We're looking at foraging birds, 00:38:44.82\00:38:46.89 generally speaking like your chicken and your quail, 00:38:46.92\00:38:50.76 your dove, your pigeon. 00:38:50.79\00:38:53.16 Who would want to eat a poor little pigeon? 00:38:53.19\00:38:55.30 How could you? How could you do that? 00:38:55.33\00:38:57.27 But anyway, that's what we're looking at. 00:38:57.30\00:38:59.90 Another very important point that God raises 00:38:59.93\00:39:02.37 and He shares in Leviticus 3:17. 00:39:02.40\00:39:04.71 If you're going to eat meat, you need to have this in mind. 00:39:04.74\00:39:07.98 "This shall be a perpetual statute 00:39:08.01\00:39:10.01 throughout your generations." 00:39:10.05\00:39:11.38 In other word, that word perpetual means 00:39:11.41\00:39:12.98 it's to be eternal. 00:39:13.01\00:39:14.35 It's to be forever. "In all your dwellings: 00:39:14.38\00:39:18.15 you shall eat neither the fat nor the blood." 00:39:18.19\00:39:21.42 God said, "Don't eat the fat," for obvious reasons. 00:39:21.46\00:39:26.19 It's not good for you, is it? 00:39:26.23\00:39:27.76 That's where we have our problems today, don't we? 00:39:27.80\00:39:30.13 The fat, so don't eat the fat. 00:39:30.17\00:39:32.00 Also, the Bible says the fat belongs to the Lord. 00:39:32.03\00:39:34.44 You know, that was something associated 00:39:34.47\00:39:36.37 with the worship service as well, 00:39:36.40\00:39:38.31 but also don't have blood. 00:39:38.34\00:39:40.41 So kosh 'em, and the Jews today 00:39:40.44\00:39:43.04 they eat meat that is kosher. 00:39:43.08\00:39:44.95 And by kosher, there is no fat and there is no blood. 00:39:44.98\00:39:48.75 It's been drained of all of its blood. 00:39:48.78\00:39:51.19 And today we know that blood carries what? 00:39:51.22\00:39:55.36 Disease. 00:39:55.39\00:39:56.73 When you're not feeling well, you go to the doctor 00:39:56.76\00:39:58.79 and the doctor will do what? 00:39:58.83\00:40:00.96 Conduct the blood test, isn't that right? 00:40:59.82\00:41:01.22 Yes, indeed there is. 00:41:01.26\00:41:03.02 I'm telling you, 00:41:03.06\00:41:04.46 probably the best way, 00:41:04.49\00:41:05.99 the best way to save the environment 00:41:06.03\00:41:08.76 is to go green, 00:41:08.80\00:41:10.33 is to go green as far as a natural plant based diet. 00:41:10.37\00:41:15.70 So I my decision that 00:41:15.74\00:41:17.07 I have made for the sake of the environment, 00:41:17.11\00:41:18.94 for the sake of my health and well-being, 00:41:18.97\00:41:20.78 and that is, 00:41:20.81\00:41:22.14 I asked the question, does it have a mother? 00:41:58.68\00:42:01.08 Yes, there was, there was a River Euphrates, 00:42:01.12\00:42:03.62 the Bible says and it parted into four rivers 00:42:03.65\00:42:06.86 that was running through the midst 00:42:06.89\00:42:08.49 of the Garden of Eden. 00:42:08.52\00:42:10.69 So water is very important and you and I, we need water. 00:42:10.73\00:42:13.33 We need a good amount of water, 00:42:13.36\00:42:14.96 a couple of liters a day at least 00:42:15.00\00:42:17.07 is what most people need. 00:42:17.10\00:42:19.73 Let's go to our next 00:42:19.77\00:42:22.60 health nugget, 00:42:22.64\00:42:24.24 our next secret to health 00:42:24.27\00:42:26.14 and that is sunlight. 00:42:26.17\00:42:27.78 Is sunlight important? 00:42:27.81\00:42:29.94 Yes, indeed it is. 00:42:29.98\00:42:31.31 God gave us the sun 00:42:31.35\00:42:33.25 in order to provide health and well-being, 00:42:33.28\00:42:35.18 and the sun is just so important. 00:42:35.22\00:42:36.62 And I don't have time to get into all these 00:42:36.65\00:42:38.72 'cause we just don't have the time 00:42:38.75\00:42:40.09 but you can, you can look that up for yourself. 00:42:40.12\00:42:42.26 The next one is temperance. 00:42:42.29\00:42:43.63 Now, what is temperance? 00:42:43.66\00:42:44.99 Temperance is an old fashioned word. 00:42:45.03\00:42:46.36 We don't generally use that word today, 00:42:46.39\00:42:48.76 temperance. 00:42:48.80\00:42:50.13 It simply means moderation in all things. 00:42:50.17\00:42:54.04 And I would like to add all things that are good. 00:42:54.07\00:42:57.34 Moderation in all things that are good. 00:42:57.37\00:42:59.57 You know, how having a balanced diet 00:42:59.61\00:43:01.68 is temperance. 00:43:01.71\00:43:03.45 You know, you can eat, 00:43:03.48\00:43:05.78 you know, a kilogram of nuts a day, 00:43:05.81\00:43:08.22 but is that necessarily good for you? 00:43:08.25\00:43:09.78 No, or you can just live on fruit? 00:43:09.82\00:43:12.79 And that's not very good for you either. 00:43:12.82\00:43:14.29 And there are some fruitarians out there 00:43:14.32\00:43:15.82 that just live on fruit, 00:43:15.86\00:43:17.43 but that's not a balanced diet. 00:43:17.46\00:43:18.79 So temperance is about having a balanced diet, 00:43:18.83\00:43:21.50 having a balanced lifestyle. 00:43:21.53\00:43:24.17 Now let me put up a few things 00:43:24.20\00:43:25.90 that may cause a bit of indigestion. 00:43:25.93\00:43:28.84 This, excuse the pun, 00:43:28.87\00:43:30.21 this one here is drugs. 00:43:30.24\00:43:32.07 Is God's plan for us to have drugs? 00:43:32.11\00:43:34.64 No, no. 00:43:34.68\00:43:36.01 Now drugs, drugs come in all shapes and sizes. 00:43:36.04\00:43:39.01 Here is another drug. 00:43:39.05\00:43:42.12 And that is tobacco. 00:43:42.15\00:43:43.62 Tobacco sadly, 00:43:43.65\00:43:44.99 takes the life of sadly way too many people 00:43:45.02\00:43:47.96 each and every year, millions and millions of people 00:43:47.99\00:43:49.96 around the year. 00:43:49.99\00:43:51.33 And now can you give up smoking? 00:43:51.36\00:43:53.40 Can you be free from drugs? 00:43:53.43\00:43:56.16 Indeed. 00:43:56.20\00:43:57.53 Philippians 4:13 says, 00:43:57.57\00:43:58.90 "I can do all things through Christ 00:43:58.93\00:44:00.60 who strengthens me." 00:44:00.64\00:44:02.10 Here's another one. Here's a very popular one. 00:44:02.14\00:44:04.34 This is an extremely popular one 00:44:04.37\00:44:06.88 in all the world, 00:44:06.91\00:44:08.34 not just here in Australia, but throughout the world, 00:44:08.38\00:44:10.75 and that is alcohol. 00:44:10.78\00:44:12.31 Alcohol today is seen as, 00:44:12.35\00:44:17.42 as a necessary evil 00:44:17.45\00:44:20.22 in the minds of many. 00:44:20.26\00:44:21.62 Most people, I believe, 00:44:21.66\00:44:23.29 understand and believe 00:44:23.32\00:44:24.66 that alcohol is not good for you. 00:44:24.69\00:44:26.03 There are plenty of research studies today 00:44:26.06\00:44:28.60 that indicate that 00:44:28.63\00:44:29.96 even one glass of alcohol is no good for you. 00:44:30.00\00:44:33.77 But alcohol... 00:44:33.80\00:44:36.30 What does alcohol do? 00:44:36.34\00:44:37.84 It affects many parts of our body, 00:44:37.87\00:44:41.54 but in particular, it affects that one organ 00:44:41.58\00:44:44.81 that God communicates His truth to us, 00:44:44.85\00:44:47.12 and that is what? 00:44:47.15\00:44:48.48 Our minds, our minds. 00:44:48.52\00:44:51.19 Who wants to affect our minds? 00:44:51.22\00:44:53.09 Who is it that wants to confuse our minds? 00:44:53.12\00:44:55.09 Who is it that wants our minds not functioning 00:44:55.12\00:44:58.29 in a clear manner, 00:44:58.33\00:45:00.16 especially those who are preparing 00:45:00.20\00:45:01.53 for the coming of Jesus? 00:45:01.56\00:45:02.96 Who is it? 00:45:03.00\00:45:04.33 It's the enemy. It's the enemy. 00:45:04.37\00:45:06.67 Now you may be thinking, "But, Danny, 00:45:06.70\00:45:08.20 didn't Jesus turn water into wine? 00:45:08.24\00:45:11.64 Isn't that what the Bible says in John Chapter 2 00:45:11.67\00:45:14.28 that Jesus turned water into wine?" 00:45:14.31\00:45:16.38 Yes, indeed He did. 00:45:16.41\00:45:17.91 Let's take a look at 00:45:17.95\00:45:19.28 what Jesus did in John chapter 2. 00:45:19.31\00:45:21.22 This is a summary of what Jesus did. 00:45:21.25\00:45:24.22 There were six water pots, 00:45:24.25\00:45:25.95 each containing 20 to 30 gallons, 00:45:25.99\00:45:28.46 that's 80 to 120 liters 00:45:28.49\00:45:30.93 in total. 00:45:30.96\00:45:32.29 We're looking at 00:45:32.33\00:45:33.66 480 to 720 liters. 00:45:33.70\00:45:36.40 Now think about it with me. 00:45:36.43\00:45:37.83 Let's just use a little bit of logic. 00:45:37.87\00:45:40.34 At the end of the wedding in Cana, 00:45:40.37\00:45:42.90 okay, they have already been drinking 00:45:42.94\00:45:44.81 all through the wedding. 00:45:44.84\00:45:46.17 It's coming to the end of the wedding. 00:45:46.21\00:45:47.54 They've run out of wine 00:45:47.58\00:45:48.91 according to Scripture, according to the story. 00:45:48.94\00:45:50.65 And now Jesus fills up 00:45:50.68\00:45:53.68 with alcohol 480 00:45:53.72\00:45:59.35 to 720 liters of alcohol, 00:45:59.39\00:46:04.66 sends the people on their way 00:46:04.69\00:46:06.83 drunk as drunk can be, 00:46:06.86\00:46:10.67 to beat up their wives, 00:46:10.70\00:46:13.00 to possibly get lost, 00:46:13.03\00:46:14.57 to possibly hurt themselves, 00:46:14.60\00:46:16.50 and ultimately to destroy their health and well-being 00:46:16.54\00:46:19.37 and to destroy their minds. 00:46:19.41\00:46:20.94 Can you imagine Jesus Christ who said, 00:46:20.98\00:46:23.68 "I have come that they many have life, 00:46:23.71\00:46:25.51 and that they may have it more abundantly?" 00:46:25.55\00:46:27.42 Can you imagine Jesus 00:46:27.45\00:46:29.88 destroying the minds and the health 00:46:29.92\00:46:32.35 of those who He came to save 00:46:32.39\00:46:33.92 and give the abundant life too, can you? 00:46:33.96\00:46:36.12 Does that make any sense 00:46:36.16\00:46:37.89 that Jesus would intoxicate 00:46:37.93\00:46:40.60 an entire community? 00:46:40.63\00:46:42.03 It absolutely does not make sense. 00:46:42.06\00:46:44.17 The truth is they had not only alcoholic wine 00:46:44.20\00:46:47.60 back in the day of Christ, 00:46:47.64\00:46:48.97 but they also had sweet, 00:46:49.00\00:46:50.94 pure grape juice 00:46:50.97\00:46:52.31 that Jesus drank with His disciples 00:46:52.34\00:46:54.51 on that Passover evening 00:46:54.54\00:46:56.31 when He instituted the communion service. 00:46:56.34\00:46:58.81 It just simply says wine. 00:46:58.85\00:47:00.62 And you understand or you can gather 00:47:00.65\00:47:02.95 which kind of wine whether it's alcoholic 00:47:02.98\00:47:05.25 or non alcoholic by the context. 00:47:05.29\00:47:07.82 And who is the one 00:47:07.86\00:47:09.19 that is performing the miracle? 00:47:09.22\00:47:11.36 Who is the one that's performing the miracle? 00:47:11.39\00:47:13.50 It's Jesus. It's Jesus. 00:47:13.53\00:47:16.00 And what does Jesus want to do? 00:47:16.03\00:47:17.67 He wants to give you the abundant life. 00:47:17.70\00:47:19.53 He wants to give you the abundant life. 00:47:19.57\00:47:22.67 So what about this next one? 00:47:22.70\00:47:24.71 Oh, my, oh, my. 00:47:24.74\00:47:27.14 Now, we've just gone too far. 00:47:27.18\00:47:29.31 Danny have gone too far, a coffee. 00:47:29.34\00:47:32.58 I mean, please. 00:47:32.61\00:47:34.98 What's wrong with a cup of coffee 00:47:35.02\00:47:36.92 or two, or three, or more a day? 00:47:36.95\00:47:38.62 It gets me going, it keeps me alert. 00:47:38.65\00:47:40.89 It keeps me awake. 00:47:40.92\00:47:42.26 I'm on the night shift 00:47:42.29\00:47:43.63 trying to look after patients. 00:47:43.66\00:47:44.99 If I don't have a coffee or two, I'm just not going to. 00:47:45.03\00:47:48.90 I'm just not going to get through. 00:47:48.93\00:47:51.17 Well, is coffee a drug, my friends? 00:47:51.20\00:47:53.20 Yes, it is. Yes, it is. 00:47:53.23\00:47:55.60 I have discovered 00:47:55.64\00:47:57.11 that everything 00:47:57.14\00:48:00.01 that is addictive 00:48:00.04\00:48:02.01 comes from the enemy. 00:48:02.04\00:48:03.95 If it's addictive, it comes from the enemy. 00:48:03.98\00:48:06.25 All these things that we've looked at coffee, 00:48:06.28\00:48:08.25 alcohol, cigarettes, drugs, 00:48:08.28\00:48:09.78 they all have addictive elements. 00:48:09.82\00:48:13.82 When was the last time you woke up 00:48:13.86\00:48:15.32 at 2 o'clock in the morning 00:48:15.36\00:48:17.46 and you were trembling, you were shaking, 00:48:17.49\00:48:21.40 because there were no carrots in the fridge. 00:48:21.43\00:48:24.90 You went to the fridge to find a carrot 00:48:24.93\00:48:27.54 to have your carrot fixed. 00:48:27.57\00:48:29.10 And there were just no carrots 00:48:29.14\00:48:30.47 and you came back to your wife or to your husband 00:48:30.51\00:48:32.74 shaking and trembling. 00:48:32.77\00:48:34.11 You have to get me a carrot. 00:48:34.14\00:48:36.71 I'm just not gonna cope, 00:48:36.75\00:48:38.08 I'm not going to get through the night without a carrot. 00:48:38.11\00:48:42.85 The point is obvious. 00:48:42.88\00:48:44.39 We laugh and we smile but the truth is, 00:48:44.42\00:48:46.65 whatever God has created, 00:48:46.69\00:48:49.12 it's not with the addictive element 00:48:49.16\00:48:51.93 that you are tied like a ball and chain to, 00:48:51.96\00:48:54.70 and that takes away 00:48:54.73\00:48:56.06 from your health and your happiness. 00:48:56.10\00:48:58.23 Keep that in mind. Keep that in mind. 00:48:58.27\00:49:00.80 Philippians 4:13, 00:49:00.84\00:49:02.54 I can do how much through Christ? 00:49:02.57\00:49:04.57 "I can do all things through Christ 00:49:04.61\00:49:06.07 who strengthens me." 00:49:06.11\00:49:07.44 Well, what about junk food? 00:49:07.48\00:49:10.41 What about junk food? 00:49:10.45\00:49:11.78 Well, 00:49:11.81\00:49:13.15 if I had more time I'll share with you my journey. 00:49:13.18\00:49:15.55 But in brief, 00:49:15.58\00:49:16.92 I was convicted by the Holy Spirit. 00:49:16.95\00:49:18.85 I used to eat tons of junk food. 00:49:18.89\00:49:20.69 I was the junk food king. 00:49:20.72\00:49:22.06 I used to eat it like you would not believe. 00:49:22.09\00:49:24.66 It didn't make any difference. 00:49:24.69\00:49:26.03 I didn't look any different on the outside, 00:49:26.06\00:49:27.76 but who knows what was going on in the inside. 00:49:27.80\00:49:31.00 But when I discovered 00:49:31.03\00:49:32.37 that my body was the temple of the Holy Spirit, 00:49:32.40\00:49:34.04 and God wanted to use me in the best possible way, 00:49:34.07\00:49:36.44 I made a decision 00:49:36.47\00:49:37.84 to turn my back on old junk food, 00:49:37.87\00:49:40.38 the chips, the ice cream, the chocolates, 00:49:40.41\00:49:42.54 turn my back on that and instead 00:49:42.58\00:49:44.81 incorporate into my life 00:49:44.85\00:49:47.02 fruits, nuts and grains and vegetables. 00:49:47.05\00:49:49.85 And guess what? 00:49:49.88\00:49:51.22 God in a miraculous and in a beautiful way, 00:49:51.25\00:49:53.59 He reversed my taste buds. 00:49:53.62\00:49:55.92 He reversed my taste buds. 00:49:55.96\00:49:57.56 And today, 00:49:57.59\00:49:59.23 I have no desire, 00:49:59.26\00:50:00.80 and I don't enjoy ice cream, 00:50:00.83\00:50:03.47 I don't enjoy chocolates and potato chips and the like. 00:50:03.50\00:50:08.40 I don't enjoy that anymore, but you put a mango, 00:50:08.44\00:50:11.31 you put a banana, you put some nuts, 00:50:11.34\00:50:14.01 you put some carrots in front of me and look out, 00:50:14.04\00:50:17.78 look out. 00:50:17.81\00:50:19.15 God can do that for you as well. 00:50:19.18\00:50:20.98 He can do that for you as well. 00:50:21.02\00:50:22.35 If He could do it for me, He can do it for you. 00:50:22.38\00:50:24.99 Notice this beautiful promise. 00:50:25.02\00:50:26.79 Psalm 84:11, "For the Lord God is a sun and a shield, 00:50:26.82\00:50:30.59 the Lord will give grace and glory." 00:50:30.63\00:50:32.56 Notice these words, 00:50:32.59\00:50:33.93 "No good thing will He withhold from those who walk uprightly." 00:50:33.96\00:50:37.17 I love that promise. 00:50:37.20\00:50:38.53 No good thing. 00:50:38.57\00:50:39.90 If it's good, 00:50:39.93\00:50:41.27 God will not withhold it from you. 00:50:41.30\00:50:42.64 He will give it to you. He'll say, enjoy it. 00:50:42.67\00:50:45.54 Enjoy it temperately, 00:50:45.57\00:50:47.11 enjoy it in moderation, 00:50:47.14\00:50:48.74 enjoy it in a balanced way, but enjoy it. 00:50:48.78\00:50:51.95 So let's move to our next... 00:50:51.98\00:50:54.72 Our next law of health, 00:50:54.75\00:50:56.95 air, the importance of having lots of air. 00:50:56.99\00:51:00.06 And I don't think I need to say much about that, 00:51:00.09\00:51:02.09 that is extremely important. 00:51:02.12\00:51:03.83 And we move on to the seventh, 00:51:03.86\00:51:05.99 and that is rest, rest. 00:51:06.03\00:51:08.50 Notice what we discover 00:51:08.53\00:51:09.86 when it comes to rest. 00:51:09.90\00:51:11.53 I'm going to take you back 00:51:11.57\00:51:13.03 to that National Geographic 00:51:13.07\00:51:15.30 magazine of 2005, November, 2005. 00:51:15.34\00:51:19.41 The secrets of Seventh-day Adventists, 00:51:19.44\00:51:20.88 they featured Seventh-day Adventists 00:51:20.91\00:51:22.88 and notice the two secrets 00:51:22.91\00:51:25.11 that they discovered amongst this community 00:51:25.15\00:51:27.82 in the Blue Zones there in Loma Linda. 00:51:27.85\00:51:29.52 Number one, 00:51:29.55\00:51:31.45 they have a plant based vegetarian diet and secondly, 00:51:31.49\00:51:35.89 they enjoy a regular practice of rest, 00:51:35.92\00:51:38.76 worship and fellowship with other Christians 00:51:38.79\00:51:40.90 every seventh day. 00:51:40.93\00:51:43.10 The truth is that scientists and researchers 00:51:43.13\00:51:46.60 are now discovering that God created us 00:51:46.63\00:51:50.34 with a seven day cycle. 00:51:50.37\00:51:51.97 Did you know that? 00:51:52.01\00:51:53.44 Our bodies were created 00:51:53.48\00:51:56.44 in a seven day cycle. 00:51:56.48\00:51:57.81 I don't have time to unpack that right now, 00:51:57.85\00:52:00.82 but we were created 00:52:00.85\00:52:02.75 in a seven day cycle, 00:52:02.78\00:52:04.12 and we have been created to operate 00:52:04.15\00:52:07.72 maximum efficiency and longevity with rest, 00:52:07.76\00:52:13.19 not just at night and getting our eight hours of sleep 00:52:13.23\00:52:16.43 a night for most people, 00:52:16.46\00:52:18.40 but to take one day off every week 00:52:18.43\00:52:20.64 and to enjoy rest, and that Sabbath rest 00:52:20.67\00:52:23.27 is what God gave to the human race. 00:52:23.30\00:52:24.87 Guess what? 00:52:24.91\00:52:26.24 At the very beginning of time in the Garden of Eden, 00:52:26.27\00:52:27.84 every single one of these eight principles 00:52:27.88\00:52:29.74 found in the Garden of Eden. 00:52:29.78\00:52:34.02 More than a century ago, 00:52:34.05\00:52:35.78 one of the pioneers of the Seventh-day 00:52:35.82\00:52:37.45 Adventist Church with a third grade education 00:52:37.49\00:52:39.99 by the name of Ellen White. 00:52:40.02\00:52:41.86 She wrote off these principles 00:52:41.89\00:52:44.39 that come to us from the Garden of Eden 00:52:44.43\00:52:46.46 and notice her words that she wrote 00:52:46.49\00:52:48.83 more than a century ago, 00:52:48.86\00:52:50.27 more... 00:52:50.30\00:52:51.93 A long time before the modern day research 00:52:51.97\00:52:54.70 came to town. 00:52:54.74\00:52:56.07 Notice these words, "Pure air, sunlight, 00:52:56.10\00:52:59.14 abstemiousness," 00:52:59.17\00:53:00.81 oh, man, that took about a mouthful, "rest." 00:53:00.84\00:53:03.81 Well, that's temperance. 00:53:03.85\00:53:05.45 That's another word for temperance, 00:53:05.48\00:53:06.82 "rest, exercise, 00:53:06.85\00:53:08.28 proper diet, the use of water, trust in divine power, 00:53:08.32\00:53:11.49 these are the true," what? 00:53:11.52\00:53:13.96 "These are the true remedies." 00:53:13.99\00:53:15.72 And she got them from the scriptures. 00:53:15.76\00:53:18.29 She got them from the Garden of Eden. 00:53:18.33\00:53:21.50 Well, we want to take a look at this final, 00:53:21.53\00:53:23.80 this final law and I believe it's the most important one, 00:53:23.83\00:53:26.84 the T, trust in who? 00:53:26.87\00:53:30.01 Trust in divine power, trust in divine power. 00:53:30.04\00:53:35.24 You see, we live on a sin sick planet, 00:53:35.28\00:53:38.08 and I can live 00:53:38.11\00:53:39.65 the healthiest possible life. 00:53:39.68\00:53:41.55 I can put those seven principles 00:53:41.58\00:53:43.69 into practice. 00:53:43.72\00:53:45.05 I can have good nutrition, 00:53:45.09\00:53:46.89 exercise, water, sunlight, temperance, 00:53:46.92\00:53:51.23 air, good fresh air, rest, 00:53:51.26\00:53:53.96 but I can still die of cancer. 00:53:54.00\00:53:57.07 Isn't that right? 00:53:57.10\00:53:58.43 There are many people 00:53:58.47\00:53:59.80 who today are no longer with us 00:53:59.83\00:54:02.70 who have followed these eight principles, 00:54:02.74\00:54:05.47 these seven principles of health, 00:54:05.51\00:54:07.38 and have still passed away. 00:54:07.41\00:54:09.11 Because there's genetics, 00:54:09.14\00:54:10.48 there is a sin sick planet that we have to contend with. 00:54:10.51\00:54:14.08 That's why this eighth and most important principle 00:54:14.12\00:54:17.75 is the one we need to treasure most, trust in God. 00:54:17.79\00:54:20.49 Trust in God. 00:54:20.52\00:54:22.29 I love this scripture 00:54:22.32\00:54:23.66 from Proverbs 3:5-6, 00:54:23.69\00:54:26.33 "Trust in," who? 00:54:26.36\00:54:28.33 "Trust in the Lord with," how much of your heart? 00:54:28.36\00:54:30.60 "With all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding, 00:54:30.63\00:54:33.10 in all your ways acknowledge Him, 00:54:33.13\00:54:34.90 and He shall direct your paths." 00:54:34.94\00:54:36.91 Put your trust in God, 00:54:36.94\00:54:39.41 trust in Him, trust in Him, 00:54:39.44\00:54:41.94 trust in His promises, trust in His ways. 00:54:41.98\00:54:45.11 And no matter how long you live on this sin sick planet, 00:54:45.15\00:54:48.28 if you continue to put your faith and trust in God, 00:54:48.32\00:54:51.99 you know that your eternal future 00:54:52.02\00:54:55.12 is secured in those nail scarred hands of Jesus. 00:54:55.16\00:54:57.76 Amen? 00:54:57.79\00:54:59.13 Your eternal future 00:54:59.16\00:55:00.50 is secured in a nail scarred hands of Jesus. 00:55:00.53\00:55:03.06 I think of the example of Daniel. 00:55:03.10\00:55:05.23 Daniel, who, 00:55:05.27\00:55:07.10 at the very beginning 00:55:07.14\00:55:08.47 of his journey there in Babylon, 00:55:08.50\00:55:10.11 he purposed in his heart 00:55:10.14\00:55:11.67 the Bible says that he would not defile himself 00:55:11.71\00:55:15.18 with what the king provided when it came to food and drink, 00:55:15.21\00:55:18.11 and that instead he would be faithful to God. 00:55:18.15\00:55:20.55 And the Bible says, God blessed Daniel. 00:55:20.58\00:55:22.85 He blessed him 00:55:22.88\00:55:24.22 in many ways, 00:55:24.25\00:55:25.59 and his friends Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego. 00:55:25.62\00:55:28.19 And I want to put it to you, my friends, 00:55:28.22\00:55:29.76 that God will bless you also if your honor Him 00:55:29.79\00:55:32.19 in how you live your life. 00:55:32.23\00:55:34.00 And I want to encourage you to begin 00:55:34.03\00:55:36.16 the journey today. 00:55:36.20\00:55:39.33 Begin the journey today, 00:55:39.37\00:55:41.07 not tomorrow but today. 00:55:41.10\00:55:43.57 Begin the journey today. 00:55:43.61\00:55:46.24 Will God help you?
