" 00:02:03.49\00:02:07.22 Notice these words from the article. 00:02:07.26\00:02:10.43 "People around the world are living longer, 00:02:10.46\00:02:13.09 but many are also living sicker lives for longer, 00:02:13.13\00:02:16.16 according to a study of all major diseases and injuries 00:02:16.20\00:02:20.50 in 188 countries... " 00:02:20.54\00:02:22.74 Let me share with you some more data. 00:02:22.77\00:02:26.07 This was from another ABC News article, 00:02:26.11\00:02:29.38 November 14, 2018, 00:02:29.41\00:02:31.35 the headline, "Chart of the day: 00:02:31.38\00:02:33.85 Half the world's deaths are from four preventable factors. " 00:02:33.88\00:02:37.89 There were some 57 million people that died in 2017 00:02:37.92\00:02:42.89 and notice how they died. 00:02:42.92\00:02:45.03 "The deadliest things on the planet aren't guns, sharks 00:02:45.06\00:02:48.76 or even road accidents. " 00:02:48.80\00:02:50.13 That's what we hear on the news don't we? 00:02:50.17\00:02:51.60 We hear about these things on the news, 00:02:51.63\00:02:53.87 but notice the things that kill us. 00:02:53.90\00:02:56.07 "Of all the things that killed people last year... " 00:02:56.10\00:03:00.18 as I pointed out, some 57 million people died in 2017, 00:03:00.21\00:03:04.25 "more than half of deaths are attributed to just four... " 00:03:04.28\00:03:08.25 that very important word "preventable risk factors... " 00:03:08.28\00:03:11.05 we're going to come across that word over and over again... 00:03:11.09\00:03:13.79 "and those four factors are: high blood pressure, 00:03:13.82\00:03:16.86 smoking, high blood glucose 00:03:16.89\00:03:19.09 and high body mass index, 00:03:19.13\00:03:21.23 according to a series of reports published in The Lancet. " 00:03:21.26\00:03:25.10 Which is one of the most prestigious 00:03:25.13\00:03:27.74 and respected medical journals. 00:03:27.77\00:03:29.97 So, what is killing us is preventable 00:03:30.01\00:03:33.94 for more than half the population. 00:03:33.98\00:03:37.81 Let's bring it closer to home, that was worldwide, 00:03:37.88\00:03:42.05 now, let's bring it closer to home, 00:03:42.08\00:03:43.89 let's take a look at Australia's Health Report Card, 00:03:43.92\00:03:47.12 are you ready for this? 00:03:47.16\00:03:48.56 Have you got your seatbelts on, are you ready? 00:03:48.59\00:03:50.79 Well, here we go, ready or not, I'm going to share with you. 00:03:50.83\00:03:53.80 This is from the Australian Institute of Health and Welfare, 00:03:53.83\00:03:57.37 this is a bi-annual government-sponsored program 00:03:57.40\00:04:04.77 that looks to take a look at where we are in health, 00:04:04.81\00:04:08.74 this is... this is a summary from this media release 00:04:08.78\00:04:12.78 back in June 20, 2018. 00:04:12.81\00:04:15.42 So, this is in Australia. 00:04:15.45\00:04:17.35 "Half of Australians have a common chronic health condition, 00:04:17.39\00:04:21.36 such as diabetes, heart disease, a mental illness, or cancer. 00:04:21.39\00:04:25.16 Importantly, almost a quarter of us have two or more 00:04:25.19\00:04:29.03 of these conditions, 00:04:29.06\00:04:30.40 often making our experiences of health and healthcare 00:04:30.43\00:04:33.90 particularly complex. " 00:04:51.05\00:04:52.69 There is that word again. 00:04:52.72\00:04:54.42 63% of Australians 18 years or over are overweight or obese. 00:04:54.46\00:05:00.03 And finally, health spending continues to rise 00:05:00.06\00:05:04.93 reaching $170 billion in 2015 and 16 00:05:04.97\00:05:08.30 and outstripping population growth. " 00:05:08.34\00:05:11.57 So, that is our report card here in Australia. 00:05:11.64\00:05:15.98 Now, there is a significant health crisis 00:05:16.01\00:05:19.35 in the area of diabetes. 00:05:19.38\00:05:21.95 Type 2 diabetes in particular. 00:05:21.98\00:05:24.72 Notice this headline, ABC News article, 00:05:24.75\00:05:27.42 September 4, 2018. 00:05:27.46\00:05:29.26 "Type 2 diabetes: Understanding Australia's fastest growing 00:05:29.29\00:05:34.70 chronic condition that is life-style related. " 00:05:34.73\00:05:38.33 Type 2 diabetes is life-style related... 00:05:38.37\00:05:41.77 all the evidence is in. 00:05:41.80\00:05:43.14 80 to 85 to possibly 90% of the two million Australians 00:05:43.17\00:05:48.81 that suffer from diabetes today 00:05:48.84\00:05:52.01 are affected by Type 2 diabetes 00:05:52.05\00:05:55.12 which is by and large, lifestyle related 00:05:55.15\00:05:58.72 and as the headline points out, 00:05:58.75\00:06:00.76 it's Australia's fastest growing chronic condition. 00:06:00.79\00:06:04.99 Now, is that God's plan for you and I? 00:06:05.03\00:06:07.43 I don't think so, 00:06:07.46\00:06:09.20 notice what Jesus had to say in John chapter 10 verse 10, 00:06:09.23\00:06:12.50 "The thief does not come except to steal, 00:06:12.53\00:06:14.90 and to kill, and to destroy. " 00:06:14.94\00:06:16.27 And who do you think the thief might be? 00:06:16.30\00:06:18.64 That's the enemy, that's the devil himself. 00:06:18.67\00:06:21.01 That's his aim, that's his plan for you and I 00:06:21.04\00:06:23.35 to steal, kill and destroy our health and our well-being 00:06:23.38\00:06:26.88 but Jesus says, 00:06:26.92\00:06:28.82 "I have come that they may have... " what? 00:06:28.85\00:06:30.72 "life, and that they may have it more... " what? 00:06:30.75\00:06:33.76 abundantly. " 00:06:33.79\00:06:35.22 John 10 verse 10. 00:06:35.26\00:06:36.62 So, that's God's plan for us, 00:06:36.66\00:06:38.26 God's plan for us is to enjoy the abundant life. 00:06:38.29\00:06:41.46 I like to put it this way, 00:06:41.50\00:06:43.37 "God's promise of an abundant life 00:06:43.40\00:06:46.03 is not only about Quantity but about Quality of life. " 00:06:46.07\00:06:50.21 As far as I'm concerned, 00:06:50.24\00:06:52.81 what I'm focused on more than anything else, 00:06:52.84\00:06:56.24 is quality of life. 00:06:56.28\00:06:57.91 I would rather have 60 or 50 good quality and healthy years 00:06:58.05\00:07:03.18 than have 70 or more years where I'm suffering chronic pain 00:07:03.22\00:07:08.32 and having chronic health issues 00:07:08.36\00:07:10.93 but God's plan is that we will have both... 00:07:10.96\00:07:13.50 that you can have your cake and eat it too. 00:07:13.53\00:07:15.80 Maybe that's not a good way of putting it... 00:07:15.83\00:07:18.83 have your healthy cake and eat it too... 00:07:18.87\00:07:21.77 God wants us to enjoy quantity and quality of years. 00:07:21.80\00:07:28.04 So, how can we do that? 00:07:28.08\00:07:29.84 We're going to pray 00:07:29.88\00:07:31.61 and we're going to once again go to God's instruction manual... 00:07:31.65\00:07:35.35 the Bible to discover the secret 00:07:35.38\00:07:37.95 to how we can enjoy happy and healthy living. 00:07:38.02\00:07:42.02 Amen. 00:07:42.06\00:07:43.39 Let's pray, "Father in heaven, 00:07:43.43\00:07:44.96 once again, before we open Your Word, 00:07:44.99\00:07:47.56 we ask and pray that you'll give us understanding 00:07:47.60\00:07:50.73 so that as we open Your Word, 00:07:50.77\00:07:52.73 You will open our hearts and our minds 00:07:52.77\00:07:54.27 and enable us to understand what Your plan is for us 00:07:54.30\00:07:59.61 that we may enjoy the abundant life experience 00:07:59.64\00:08:02.88 that you have for each and every person, 00:08:02.91\00:08:04.88 so, wherever we may be watching or listening from, 00:08:04.91\00:08:07.55 we pray that this will be a blessing... 00:08:07.58\00:08:11.09 a life-changing blessing 00:08:11.12\00:08:12.45 and this is our prayer in Jesus' name, amen... amen. " 00:08:12.49\00:08:16.26 Pause... 00:08:16.29\00:08:19.29 Let's go and take a look at the World Health Organization 00:08:19.33\00:08:24.17 1948 definition for health. 00:08:24.20\00:08:26.70 World Health Organization defines health 00:08:26.74\00:08:29.87 in the following way, 00:08:29.90\00:08:31.24 "Health is a state of complete physical, 00:08:31.27\00:08:33.48 mental and social well-being 00:08:33.51\00:08:35.61 and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity. " 00:08:35.64\00:08:38.61 With all due respect to the World-Health-Organization 00:08:38.68\00:08:41.62 definition, I believe that it is lacking 00:08:41.65\00:08:43.45 one all-important element 00:08:43.49\00:08:44.95 and so, if I was to... to share a definition on health 00:08:44.99\00:08:50.63 and I believe it's very much backed up 00:08:50.66\00:08:53.46 by solid-strong evidence, 00:08:53.50\00:08:54.93 this is what I would include, here is my definition, 00:08:54.96\00:08:57.87 "Health is a state of complete physical, mental, social and.. " 00:08:57.90\00:09:01.57 what's that word? "spiritual well-being 00:09:01.60\00:09:03.91 and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity. " 00:09:03.94\00:09:07.68 The truth is, you and I have been created 00:09:07.71\00:09:12.05 with this four dimensional aspect of health and well-being. 00:09:12.08\00:09:16.05 Notice what we read in Luke chapter 2 verse 52 00:09:16.08\00:09:18.85 regarding Jesus, 00:09:18.92\00:09:20.66 "And Jesus increased in wisdom and stature, 00:09:20.69\00:09:23.43 and in favor with God and men. " oh, that's temperance... 00:53:03.24\00:53:05.31 that's another word for temperance... rest... 00:53:05.35\00:53:07.05 "exercise... proper diet... 00:53:07.08\00:53:09.02 the use of water... trust in divine power... 00:53:09.05\00:53:11.22 these are the true... " what? 00:53:11.25\00:53:13.19 "these are the true remedies.
