bear. And it was a funny bear

because it was raised up on
one side and it had three ribs

in its mouth. The
third beast was a leopard.

And it was a strange leopard,
too, because it had 4 heads

and wings. And the
fourth beast was so dreadful

that even the Bible
prophet couldn't imagine

what a... that an
animal looked like it at all.

It was just an
indescribable beast.

What I didn't understand then
that I clearly understand now

is that these beasts
didn't exist as beasts.

Rather they were representative

Now the interesting thing is

that the idea of using
animals to represent nations

with with the cartoons.

originated in the Bible.

study an amazing prophecy

of each of these 4 animals.

seeing now is very close to what

This lion was no ordinary lion
because it had eagle's wings.

But the difference with
this lion is that it had a man's

heart. Now when we talk about
a man having a lion's heart

what do we usually mean by that?

Yes. Strong and
resilient and so forth.

Now a lion having a man's
heart would be the opposite.

And the great
lion of ancient history

world and went over to Babylon

And the wings represent the

Lion of Babylon dates

because they came from Iraq.

would be too many authorities

that would disagree that
the lion represents Babylon.

That great kingdom:
probably the greatest kingdom

kingdom finally came to an end

by the fourth world empire.

Now this 4th beast was
just... Well, Daniel couldn't

think of a beast
that looked like it.

And the artist has tried to
do his best, too, to figure what

it would have looked like.
And this beast was different

because it had 10 horns.

And Daniel's attention now
was centered on those 10 horns.

And by the way, what
was the power that took over

when Greece fell
in the year 168 BC?

By the way, this was the
power that was ruling when Jesus
00:10:35.18\00:10:37.96
was born and continued right
through until the year 476 AD.

It lasted longer than any
of the other world powers.

What was the
power? The Roman Empire.

We're down in more
familiar ground here.

Daniel's attention now was going
to be riveted on those 10 horns

because he says in verse 8:

So as Daniel was
watching this power,

these 10 horns, he then noticed

another little horn that
came up and actually uprooted

three of those ten.

Daniel's attention couldn't
be taken off this little horn.

And if you come over to verse 23

on the next page it tells
us a little bit more about

what was going
to happen. Verse 23:

Verse 24: the
ten horns are what?

So here the Bible
makes it very, very clear

that among those ten horns

was going to come
up this little horn,

uproot three of those horns.

Now when Rome finally
fell in the year 476 AD...

You see, if I'd been writing the
Bible I would have been tempted

to say that if Babylon
was followed by Medo-Persia,

Medo-Persia was
followed in turn by Greece,

Greece in turn
was followed by Rome,

what would you naturally think?

That when Rome fell it would be
followed by a 5th world empire.

But the prophet said "no. "

The prophet said it's going
to be divided into 10 divisions.

the Barbarians coming down

attacked Rome's borders.

And the interesting thing
is out of those 10 divisions

come what we call Europe today.

Because it was the break-up
of the Roman Empire that

gives us our nations of
Europe today. For example,

the Anglo-Saxons
became known as the British.

The Alemanni were the Germans.
00:13:19.18\00:13:22.03
The Franks were the French.
00:13:22.13\00:13:23.97
And basically our nations
of Europe today have come about

because of the
break-up of the Roman Empire.

Because God said it would never
be another world one empire

that would unite Europe. Instead
Europe will be fragmented.

And of those ten, three
are not going to survive.

finally didn't survive

were the Heruli, the
Vandals, and the Ostrogoths.

be to attack God's law.

identify the antichrist

people in Jesus' day who thought

destroy or do away with the law.

come to destroy it;

I've come to fulfill it. "

That word fulfill
means to fully preach

because Jesus said

"I have come to
fulfill all righteousness. "

Now that doesn't
mean to do away with it.

Jesus said He would

And there's no question
that He's talking about the

Ten Commandments because
He quotes from some of them.

If you go down to verse
21, for example. It says:

And then if you
go down to verse 27:

"You have heard that it was
said to those of old 'you shall

' " So Jesus was quoting

from some of the Ten
Commandments, and He says

above and earth beneath

about a power back there

in the book of Daniel
that's going to think itself

able to change the law of God.

You know, it's not a
very popular thing today

to teach and uphold
the Ten Commandments.

wonder about that statement

that the person
breathes that you're talking to

will tell you that
that's all been done away with.

Christians have to keep the law.

they going to come from within

And I want to remind you
that the greatest attacks

believe it. " Why?

So a man was going
to come in the church.

claim to be God on earth

Now lawlessness simply means
to be opposed to the law of God.

This is the same power

who was going to
oppose the law of God.

was beginning in Paul's day...

lawlessness. Verse 8:

So how long is this lawless one
going to be allowed to continue

through until Jesus comes

antichrist is not one individual
