Welcome to Faith Chapel I'm Jeff Zaremsky. 00:00:30.62\00:00:32.77 Today we're gonna be talking about How bad 00:00:32.90\00:00:34.87 have the Jewish people been as a nation down 00:00:34.88\00:00:37.40 through history. Let's start with prayer. 00:00:37.41\00:00:39.87 Our Lord God King of the Universe, 00:00:40.65\00:00:42.48 speak to our hearts from heaven, 00:00:43.06\00:00:44.48 in Jesus name, amen. 00:00:44.75\00:00:46.82 So, I'm gonna ask you a question, 00:00:48.23\00:00:49.49 lets start with a question how bad have 00:00:49.50\00:00:51.70 the Jewish people been. So what do you think. 00:00:51.71\00:00:54.05 In the history of the Jewish as a whole how 00:00:54.14\00:00:57.78 often have they rejected God? Would you say 00:00:57.79\00:01:00.50 50 percent of the time, would you say 00:01:00.59\00:01:02.74 65 percent of the time or would you say 00:01:02.87\00:01:05.19 80 percent time. Now if you're like most audiences 00:01:05.48\00:01:08.35 you are saying 80 percent of the time, few will say 00:01:08.37\00:01:10.71 65 percent of the time and maybe one or two 00:01:10.76\00:01:13.18 will 50 percent of the time, but the vast 00:01:13.20\00:01:14.77 majority will say 80 percent of the time. 00:01:14.78\00:01:16.84 Now we're gonna go through the scriptures, 00:01:16.86\00:01:18.39 we're gonna look through the scriptures very 00:01:18.40\00:01:20.00 quickly. So fasten your seat belt and in case 00:01:20.05\00:01:22.64 of emergency your seat will double as an 00:01:22.65\00:01:24.62 flotation device. Alright we're gonna start with 00:01:24.63\00:01:26.83 the tour, we're gonna look through the books 00:01:26.84\00:01:28.32 of Moses, The History of Moses and it's 00:01:28.33\00:01:31.16 interesting to find as you read through it 00:01:31.17\00:01:32.94 that of all the rebellions that are mentioned 00:01:33.38\00:01:35.00 in the, in the Deuteronomy and Exodus account 00:01:35.05\00:01:37.82 that only four of all the rebellions mentioned 00:01:38.25\00:01:41.54 take place in the last 39 years of that 40 00:01:42.02\00:01:46.27 years wandering in the wilderness. 00:01:46.31\00:01:48.13 All of the other rebellions take place in 00:01:48.83\00:01:50.44 the very first year of coming out of slavery 00:01:50.45\00:01:53.18 after hundreds of years of being slaves in 00:01:53.60\00:01:55.96 Egypt with no Bible handy and so there was 00:01:56.04\00:01:58.81 some rebellion in the beginning quite a bit, 00:01:58.88\00:02:00.70 but most of it takes place in the first year. 00:02:01.01\00:02:03.47 39 years only four rebellions recorded. 00:02:03.90\00:02:06.69 Now how is your last 39 years been. 00:02:07.60\00:02:10.21 If God was recording your rebellion over the 00:02:10.46\00:02:12.46 last 39 years, where there only before to 00:02:12.47\00:02:14.80 record, so 39 years only four rebellions as a 00:02:14.84\00:02:17.95 history is a whole that's not too bad. 00:02:17.96\00:02:20.01 So then we go to the book of Joshua and in 00:02:20.94\00:02:23.21 Joshua chapter 24 verse 31 it says, 00:02:23.30\00:02:26.66 And Israel served the Lord all the days of 00:02:26.72\00:02:30.10 Joshua and all days of the elders that 00:02:30.11\00:02:33.52 outlived Joshua. So Israel served the Lord 00:02:33.56\00:02:35.74 all the days of Joshua and all the days of 00:02:35.75\00:02:37.16 the Israel, of the leaders that outlived Joshua, 00:02:37.24\00:02:39.42 so about 24 years is what is usually estimated 00:02:39.48\00:02:42.88 for that time period. So between the 39 and 00:02:43.10\00:02:47.02 the 24 years only four mentions of rebellions, 00:02:47.03\00:02:50.61 that's 63 good years in a row and one bad 00:02:50.69\00:02:53.89 year. So we're gonna have to get up to 80 00:02:53.90\00:02:55.92 percent, we're gonna have to pick up the pace 00:02:55.99\00:02:57.51 here on bad years. But we're coming to the 00:02:57.52\00:02:59.54 book of Judges. Well Judges that's a horrible, 00:02:59.55\00:03:02.23 horrible time, just everyone doing what seems 00:03:02.27\00:03:05.00 right in their own eyes. Well let's look at the 00:03:05.03\00:03:07.00 book of Judges and let's go to our first text 00:03:07.01\00:03:09.10 Judges chapter 3 verse 8 and it says, 00:03:09.17\00:03:13.13 Therefore the anger of the Lord was hot 00:03:13.57\00:03:15.95 against Israel, and he sold them into the hand 00:03:16.03\00:03:19.68 of Cush, Cush, you wanna try that, 00:03:19.82\00:03:22.17 I don't know, you can try and pronounce that, 00:03:22.22\00:03:23.76 the King of Mesopotamia. And the children of 00:03:23.99\00:03:26.56 Israel served this guy for eight years. 00:03:26.57\00:03:29.34 Okay so we got eight bad years they're 00:03:29.38\00:03:31.18 serving this, this foreign King and for eight 00:03:31.21\00:03:35.29 so we got eight bad years. Let's go on to our 00:03:35.31\00:03:37.54 next text verse 9 and it says, And when the 00:03:37.55\00:03:41.00 children of Israel cried unto the Lord, 00:03:41.01\00:03:45.55 the Lord raised up a deliverer of the children 00:03:45.62\00:03:48.36 of Israel who delivered them, even Othniel 00:03:48.37\00:03:51.39 the son of Caleb. Caleb's younger brother. 00:03:51.61\00:03:56.82 And the Spirit of the Lord came upon him, 00:03:57.26\00:03:59.39 and he judged Israel and went out to war and 00:03:59.48\00:04:02.62 the Lord delivered this guy King of Mesopotamia 00:04:02.63\00:04:06.39 into their hand, and his hand prevailed against 00:04:07.07\00:04:09.96 them and the land had rest forty years. 00:04:09.97\00:04:15.26 So under Caleb's brother as a ruler he had 00:04:15.86\00:04:18.19 rest, we had peace, following the Lord for 00:04:18.20\00:04:20.76 forty years. Judges starts off with eight 00:04:20.98\00:04:23.74 bad years, but then forty good years. 00:04:23.80\00:04:27.48 As we continue on in Judges chapter 3 00:04:28.07\00:04:30.32 verse 12, And the children of Israel did evil 00:04:30.33\00:04:32.58 again in the sight of the Lord 18 years. 00:04:32.66\00:04:35.54 Verse 15, But when the children of Israel 00:04:36.17\00:04:38.19 cried out to the Lord, the Lord raised them 00:04:38.20\00:04:39.78 up a deliverer, Ehud and the land had rest 00:04:39.85\00:04:43.11 80 years. So 18 bad, so we have 8 bad, 00:04:43.69\00:04:47.50 40 good. 18 bad, 80 good and the children, 00:04:47.51\00:04:52.52 in verse, chapter 4 verse 1, And the children 00:04:52.53\00:04:54.78 of Israel again did evil in the sight of the 00:04:54.89\00:04:56.85 LORD. And the LORD sold them into the hand 00:04:56.88\00:04:58.89 of Jabin King of Canaan 20 years. 00:04:58.98\00:05:01.53 So 20 bad years and then Deborah arose 00:05:01.74\00:05:05.02 and the land had rest forty years. 00:05:05.53\00:05:08.84 And so during the time of Deborah we had 00:05:09.16\00:05:10.95 rest for 40 years, the prophetess and Judge 00:05:10.96\00:05:14.54 Deborah. Then going on to chapter 6, 00:05:14.65\00:05:17.28 And the children of Israel did evil in the 00:05:17.89\00:05:19.89 sight of the Lord: and the Lord delivered them 00:05:19.92\00:05:21.53 into the hand of Midian seven years. 00:05:21.54\00:05:23.70 Then chapter 8 verse 34 and we are just 00:05:24.43\00:05:26.48 moving through very quickly and just hitting 00:05:26.49\00:05:28.39 the highlights. But the Spirit of the LORD 00:05:28.40\00:05:30.32 came upon Gideon, and the country was in 00:05:30.38\00:05:32.93 quietness 40 years in the days of Gideon and 00:05:32.94\00:05:36.69 so what we're seeing is kind of like your stocks. 00:05:36.70\00:05:38.51 It might say hey I wouldn't want a stock 00:05:38.61\00:05:39.84 that's going up and down and up and down 00:05:39.97\00:05:41.42 all the time, but it might not be too bad if 00:05:41.51\00:05:43.54 I told you that one of you had a stock that 00:05:43.55\00:05:45.79 had 39 up then 24 up and then just has eight 00:05:45.80\00:05:50.44 down, but then goes up again another 40 00:05:50.49\00:05:52.74 and then maybe goes down 18, but then 00:05:52.79\00:05:54.41 goes 80 and so there's this up and down, 00:05:54.47\00:05:57.09 but the ups are much higher than the downs. 00:05:57.26\00:06:00.09 And are more often then the downs and 00:06:00.24\00:06:02.11 last longer and are higher then the downs. 00:06:02.13\00:06:04.63 Then you say hey that's a great stock, 00:06:04.66\00:06:05.96 it's going on up and yeah, it has some lows, 00:06:05.98\00:06:08.42 but its going up and that's how the stocks 00:06:08.46\00:06:10.26 work and that's what we're seeing, 00:06:10.32\00:06:11.54 that was in the book of Judges. 00:06:11.67\00:06:13.07 Now we're not done with the book of Judges. 00:06:13.25\00:06:14.43 We're gonna go to Judges chapter 10, 00:06:14.44\00:06:17.87 verses 1 and 2 and the text says, And after 00:06:18.29\00:06:22.43 Abimelech there arose to defend Israel Tola 00:06:22.47\00:06:25.32 the son of Puah, the son of Dodo, 00:06:25.50\00:06:27.72 a man of Issachar, and he dwelt in Shamir 00:06:27.93\00:06:30.37 in Mount Ephraim. And he judged the Israel 00:06:30.38\00:06:33.93 twenty and three years and he died and was 00:06:34.03\00:06:36.66 buried in Shamir. Now in that text, 00:06:36.77\00:06:39.45 it mentions this Judge, this Tola the son of 00:06:39.72\00:06:42.72 Puah, the son of Dodo that he judged Israel 00:06:42.83\00:06:45.16 23 years and then he dies. It doesn't say 00:06:45.22\00:06:47.80 whether they had lent at rest, whether he 00:06:47.81\00:06:50.25 did that which was right in the sight of the 00:06:50.26\00:06:51.73 Lord, whether they did that which was evil. 00:06:51.76\00:06:53.79 It doesn't say either or it just says that 00:06:53.80\00:06:56.06 he just reigned 23 years. Can you imagine 00:06:56.07\00:06:58.37 if you reigned over a whole nation for 23 00:06:58.38\00:07:00.94 years and the only thing that's recorded is 00:07:00.98\00:07:04.00 that you are the grandson of Dodo. 00:07:04.01\00:07:05.31 I mean maybe that's, you know pretty playful, 00:07:06.29\00:07:08.06 but I guess the only thing worse than that 00:07:08.07\00:07:09.89 is being Dodo yourself or being the father 00:07:09.97\00:07:12.52 of Dodo, but anyway that's all that Bible says 00:07:12.59\00:07:14.47 and so that's kind of just a neutral time. 00:07:14.54\00:07:16.61 Technically probably if it was bad the Bible 00:07:16.89\00:07:19.14 would have said so, but its neutral and so we 00:07:19.16\00:07:21.78 just leave that as neutral. Alright, going 00:07:21.85\00:07:23.87 pass the book of Judges, we come to the 00:07:23.92\00:07:25.47 time of Eli, Eli ruled over Israel for 40 years 00:07:25.48\00:07:29.37 basically doing that which was good 00:07:29.68\00:07:31.19 followed by Samuel for 46 years also basically 00:07:31.35\00:07:35.25 doing that which was good. And so lets 00:07:35.31\00:07:37.27 look at our totals together now. 00:07:37.32\00:07:38.76 The totals for the book of Judges during 00:07:38.85\00:07:41.86 plus the time of Eli and Samuel we have a 00:07:41.95\00:07:44.43 total of a 113 bad years, 312 good years and 00:07:44.51\00:07:52.46 70 neutral years. That's pretty amazing to me, 00:07:52.57\00:07:56.02 I mean you know we were all saying that 00:07:56.03\00:07:57.45 it was gonna be 80 percent of the time was 00:07:57.47\00:07:59.07 bad and already we are seeing that its only 00:07:59.08\00:08:01.66 about less than 30 percent bad and most of 00:08:01.67\00:08:05.53 the time good. And all this through the book 00:08:05.54\00:08:07.95 of Judges. Let's go on and look at the Kings. 00:08:07.96\00:08:10.87 We have King Saul. King Saul reigned for 00:08:11.16\00:08:13.03 39 years and you know, we don't know how, 00:08:13.11\00:08:16.58 when he started going bad. It might had been 00:08:16.74\00:08:18.19 20 years into his reign, we don't know and, 00:08:18.24\00:08:20.68 but he did do some that was not good. 00:08:20.75\00:08:22.61 We'll just play that one neutral just to play 00:08:22.79\00:08:24.55 it safe. David reigns 40 years and of course 00:08:24.62\00:08:27.03 he had some of his problems, but certainly 00:08:27.04\00:08:30.16 I think I will record him as having good years 00:08:30.75\00:08:32.85 and Israel doing good under that time, 00:08:32.86\00:08:34.16 so 40 years. Solomon comes along and 00:08:34.20\00:08:36.96 Solomon starts off real good, he had some 00:08:37.20\00:08:38.74 problems, but then he ends real good, 00:08:38.79\00:08:41.05 so we'll count him as neutral as well. 00:08:41.06\00:08:42.99 And so during the, and so far more we all 00:08:45.22\00:08:47.08 know what we've seen that there are seven 00:08:47.09\00:08:49.55 good years, good reigning Judges and Kings 00:08:49.96\00:08:53.02 that last 40 years. 40 years in the Bible is 00:08:53.16\00:08:55.40 a generation and so we have Caleb's brother, 00:08:55.42\00:08:58.45 younger brother Ehud. Ehud had a double 40 00:08:58.50\00:09:00.91 had 80 good years. Deborah had 40 good years. 00:09:01.00\00:09:03.82 Gideon had 40 good years. Eli had 40 00:09:03.86\00:09:06.40 good years. David had 40 good years. 00:09:06.41\00:09:08.08 Solomon had 40 good years, so there's a 00:09:08.09\00:09:10.59 generation of good years, sevens of them 00:09:10.64\00:09:15.50 and one was a double. Now Soul only had 00:09:15.51\00:09:18.03 39 years, God only allowed him to be King 00:09:18.08\00:09:20.00 39 years, God allows him to die just before 00:09:20.07\00:09:23.54 he reaches that 40th year, that total of 00:09:23.56\00:09:27.05 generation, that total of goodness because he 00:09:27.24\00:09:29.65 didn't, he rejected, God gave him that much 00:09:29.74\00:09:31.39 time to repent and turn and so he gets 00:09:31.40\00:09:33.69 cut off before he reaches the 40th year. 00:09:33.76\00:09:37.61 So, lets look through the rest of the book 00:09:37.69\00:09:38.99 of Kings and King Solomon dies and it's in 00:09:39.00\00:09:43.87 First King chapter 14 and verse 21 and 22 00:09:43.88\00:09:46.72 it talks about: Rehoboam his son and he 00:09:46.96\00:09:49.07 reigned seventeen years and Judah did 00:09:49.08\00:09:51.91 evil in the sight of the Lord, so that 00:09:52.04\00:09:53.70 would be on the bad side specifically tells 00:09:53.71\00:09:55.51 us they did evil in the sight of the Lord 00:09:55.52\00:09:56.90 seventeen years. Now, at this time Israel 00:09:56.91\00:09:59.41 and Judah splits, there is a civil war and the 00:09:59.60\00:10:02.01 Northern tribes of Israel never have a good 00:10:02.04\00:10:04.24 King from thereon, never do any good. 00:10:04.25\00:10:06.51 And so we would count them as 100 percent 00:10:06.61\00:10:08.20 bad the rest of the time, but we're gonna 00:10:08.27\00:10:10.79 focus on Judah and that's where the Jews 00:10:10.91\00:10:12.51 come from, through the line of Judah. 00:10:12.58\00:10:13.98 Jews come, the term comes from Judah to 00:10:14.39\00:10:16.78 shorten derivative of Judah Jews. And, and 00:10:16.91\00:10:20.57 so we're gonna follow the line of Judah from 00:10:20.58\00:10:22.95 here on out. And so, chapter 15 verses 2 and 3. 00:10:22.99\00:10:26.32 Abijam reigned over Judah three years and 00:10:27.44\00:10:30.48 he walked in the sins of his father. 00:10:30.49\00:10:32.18 So, it's seventeen bad years and then his 00:10:32.21\00:10:34.01 son three bad years. And then chapter 00:10:34.14\00:10:37.21 15 verses 10 and 11, Asa reigned over Judah 00:10:37.25\00:10:40.37 forty and one years doing that which was 00:10:40.78\00:10:44.24 right in the eyes of the Lord. So, again we 00:10:44.26\00:10:46.86 see the same pattern, a few bad years but 00:10:46.95\00:10:48.49 then many good years, forty one good years. 00:10:48.50\00:10:51.49 Jumping to chapter 22 verses 42 and 43, 00:10:51.94\00:10:55.71 Jehoshaphat reigned twenty and five years, 00:10:56.13\00:10:59.08 twenty five years doing that which was right 00:10:59.12\00:11:01.62 in the eyes of the Lord. Second Kings chapter 00:11:02.09\00:11:04.82 11 verses 1 and 3, Athaliah, the mother of 00:11:04.90\00:11:09.19 Ahaziah destroyed all her heirs. 00:11:09.39\00:11:11.60 This queen mother decides that she is going 00:11:11.61\00:11:13.53 to kill all her children, so that she can be 00:11:13.54\00:11:15.49 the queen and it's a horrible time and she 00:11:15.51\00:11:17.65 does this and she reigns six years. 00:11:17.66\00:11:20.46 It's all that God allows her to reign. 00:11:20.56\00:11:21.96 All the bad Kings God cuts off very soon, 00:11:22.20\00:11:24.93 very short amount of time only six years 00:11:24.94\00:11:27.34 and in chapter 12 verses 1 and 2 picks it 00:11:27.35\00:11:29.57 up saying, Joash reigned forty years, 00:11:29.58\00:11:32.91 as a boy King, eight -year-old boy King. 00:11:32.99\00:11:35.60 He reigns forty years and he did that which 00:11:35.84\00:11:38.22 was right in the side of the Lord. 00:11:38.33\00:11:40.20 And after her it continues on for a hundred 00:11:41.00\00:11:43.26 and thirty seven good years in a row after 00:11:43.35\00:11:47.23 that wicked queen. She only got six years 00:11:47.24\00:11:49.11 and then we go hundred and thirty seven good 00:11:49.50\00:11:52.42 years. How are your stocks doing? 00:11:52.49\00:11:54.33 Hundred and thirty seven up, only six down. 00:11:54.34\00:11:57.17 And that's what we see happening. 00:11:57.77\00:11:59.11 When we get to chapter 21 of Second Kings 00:11:59.77\00:12:02.32 verse 1, Menasseh's talked about and it says 00:12:03.02\00:12:05.66 Mennasseh reigned fifty five years. 00:12:05.82\00:12:08.92 And he did that which was evil in the side 00:12:09.58\00:12:13.13 of the Lord. Now, Menasseh is the only bad 00:12:13.56\00:12:17.93 King. The only bad King that reigns more than 00:12:18.05\00:12:20.92 twenty years. Most bad Kings don't even 00:12:20.97\00:12:24.79 make ten years. While, most of the good 00:12:24.81\00:12:28.76 years are more than twenty years. 00:12:28.77\00:12:32.01 Most of the bad years are less than ten years; 00:12:32.84\00:12:34.48 most of the good years are more than twenty 00:12:34.78\00:12:37.39 years. Now, God allows Menasseh to have 00:12:37.45\00:12:39.92 fifty five years because God loves us. 00:12:39.94\00:12:43.01 God loves the sinners and God's gonna give 00:12:43.38\00:12:44.98 us opportunity after opportunity after 00:12:45.05\00:12:46.65 opportunity to accept him. And Menasseh 00:12:46.67\00:12:48.72 eventually does turn to the Lord at the end 00:12:48.76\00:12:51.50 of his life. That's why he was allowed to 00:12:51.63\00:12:53.57 reign fifty five years until he finally gives 00:12:53.58\00:12:57.23 into the Lord. Otherwise he probably would 00:12:57.24\00:12:58.57 had short under twenty like all the other bad 00:12:58.61\00:13:01.23 times. So, how does our picture look, 00:13:01.33\00:13:03.38 how does it look for the, for the, for the time, 00:13:03.44\00:13:06.10 the total for all the books of Kings of 00:13:06.40\00:13:08.44 following the, the, the Kings of Judah, 00:13:08.57\00:13:10.35 how does it look? Let's take a look at our 00:13:10.41\00:13:12.03 screen here. And, and we have our totals 00:13:12.18\00:13:15.14 for the Kings, the time of the Kings Bad time 00:13:15.43\00:13:17.67 118, Good 303, Neutral 79. That almost parallels 00:13:18.07\00:13:28.51 what it was in judges. Just a hundred or so 00:13:28.55\00:13:31.95 bad, over three hundred good and 70 something 00:13:32.01\00:13:35.58 neutral. So, again we're seeing the bad 00:13:35.65\00:13:38.31 years only amount to the, to about less than 00:13:38.35\00:13:42.62 one third of all the bad time. And we were 00:13:42.66\00:13:47.27 thinking it was 80 percent. Now, let's look 00:13:47.30\00:13:49.70 at our totals then from the time of Moses all 00:13:49.77\00:13:51.67 the way to the time that we're taking captive 00:13:51.68\00:13:53.61 in Babylon. Let's count up our figures here, 00:13:53.62\00:13:55.98 where does it come to our totals from Moses 00:13:56.06\00:13:57.87 to Babylon, 232 bad years, good years 678, 00:13:57.88\00:14:03.37 neutral years are 149, that amounts to only 00:14:03.78\00:14:07.60 232 bad years out of over a thousand 00:14:07.80\00:14:11.66 years of good years. Or of, or, or of total 00:14:12.28\00:14:15.60 including neutral years. So, only 232 that the 00:14:15.65\00:14:18.12 Bible specifically says was bad years, 00:14:18.19\00:14:21.19 that's only about 25 percent less than 25 00:14:21.57\00:14:24.06 percent of the time. And again I, 00:14:24.07\00:14:26.40 if I look over my life I wish I could say the 00:14:26.41\00:14:30.26 only 25 percent was bad. And so, what we're 00:14:30.30\00:14:35.88 seeing how about during the time when we 00:14:35.90\00:14:37.39 have the time of Babylon and, and till the 00:14:37.44\00:14:39.03 time of the Messiah. We have many good times, 00:14:39.12\00:14:40.88 we have Daniel, we have Mishael, Hananiah, 00:14:40.97\00:14:44.23 Azariah, that's their Hebrew names, they're 00:14:44.34\00:14:46.68 known often by their Babylonian names. 00:14:46.69\00:14:48.71 Then we have also Esther and Mordecai and 00:14:48.85\00:14:50.63 Nehemiah and Ezra and, and the coming back 00:14:50.65\00:14:53.28 and the rebuilding of the second, the building 00:14:53.29\00:14:55.19 of the second temple. We have Maccabees 00:14:55.20\00:14:57.21 and so we have many, many good years in 00:14:57.22\00:14:59.08 the time between the, before the Messiah 00:14:59.09\00:15:02.70 comes. And now how about the time, 00:15:02.75\00:15:04.25 during the time of the Messiah? How did the 00:15:04.26\00:15:06.42 Jewish people rate during the time of Messiah? 00:15:06.59\00:15:09.89 We still haven't come anywhere close to 00:15:10.35\00:15:11.53 reaching that 80 percent of bad times. 00:15:11.62\00:15:13.30 So, let's see here during the time of the Messiah. 00:15:13.99\00:15:16.14 Acts chapter 2 verse 31 tells us that three 00:15:16.19\00:15:19.89 thousand Jewish people became believers 00:15:19.93\00:15:21.91 and were immersed, were baptized at that time. 00:15:21.93\00:15:24.78 Acts chapter 4 verse 4 says that, five thousand 00:15:25.46\00:15:29.32 Jewish people plus, actually Jewish men plus 00:15:29.43\00:15:33.28 women and children became believers in the 00:15:33.31\00:15:36.59 Messiah and Jesus as the Messiah. And so, five 00:15:36.60\00:15:39.19 thousand plus women and children, well that's 00:15:39.20\00:15:40.81 got to be at least ten thousand there plus the 00:15:40.82\00:15:42.88 three thousand before. And so you're talking 00:15:42.89\00:15:45.12 many thousands. Jules Isaac in his book Jesus 00:15:45.69\00:15:49.24 and Israel, page 101. He's quoted as saying 00:15:49.31\00:15:52.11 within three and a half years about 25,000 00:15:52.12\00:15:56.98 Jewish people in and around Jerusalem believed 00:15:57.21\00:16:01.22 in Jesus as the Messiah. Twenty five 00:16:01.50\00:16:04.25 thousand, that's a pretty good number, 00:16:04.28\00:16:06.24 That's a lot of people. Some estimate that might 00:16:06.66\00:16:08.52 have been a good 25 percent of the population 00:16:08.54\00:16:11.26 at that time that be a good number today 00:16:11.32\00:16:13.26 to have a city and around city of 25,000 00:16:14.00\00:16:17.15 believers. Let's go to Acts chapter 6 verse 7 00:16:17.28\00:16:21.29 and let's, let's read that one together, 00:16:21.33\00:16:22.53 let's take a look at that. Acts chapter 7, 00:16:22.60\00:16:24.52 And the word of God increased; and the 00:16:24.56\00:16:27.19 number of disciples multiplied in Jerusalem 00:16:27.20\00:16:30.86 greatly; and a great company of the priests 00:16:31.05\00:16:36.20 were obedient to the faith. So, we see 00:16:36.29\00:16:38.77 here right there in Jerusalem and Jewish 00:16:38.87\00:16:40.47 people great numbers, great multitude in 00:16:40.57\00:16:43.46 Jerusalem, greatly plus of the priest as well. 00:16:43.50\00:16:46.63 Of the spiritual leaders of the Jewish people, 00:16:46.87\00:16:49.59 a great company the text said. A great 00:16:49.75\00:16:52.72 company of the Jewish priests were obedient 00:16:52.80\00:16:55.77 to the faith became believers in Jesus as the 00:16:55.82\00:16:57.46 Messiah. In acts chapter 14, well, sharing this, 00:16:57.47\00:17:03.71 this message one time at a, at a, at a place 00:17:03.90\00:17:06.35 in a sermon. And right afterwards a man came 00:17:07.14\00:17:09.16 up to me and he opened his Bible and pointed 00:17:09.23\00:17:11.43 to Acts chapter 13 verse 46 and he read it 00:17:11.49\00:17:14.20 to me. That it was necessary for the Word 00:17:14.21\00:17:16.19 of God to be spoken to you. But seeing you 00:17:16.20\00:17:18.34 put it from you, we turn to the gentiles. 00:17:18.52\00:17:20.80 And he closed his Bible and he said, see the 00:17:20.81\00:17:22.77 Jews were rejected, Paul then turned to the 00:17:22.78\00:17:24.66 gentiles and that was the end for the Jewish 00:17:24.67\00:17:26.99 people and he turned away from me and he 00:17:27.11\00:17:28.70 walked away. Now, if he would have just read, 00:17:28.77\00:17:32.67 just seven verses later. That was in Antioch. 00:17:33.40\00:17:36.50 And, and the Bible says that in Antioch there 00:17:36.51\00:17:38.70 were many Jewish believers, but what had 00:17:38.71\00:17:40.66 happened was some or maybe even the 00:17:40.67\00:17:43.64 majority of the Jewish people in that city, 00:17:43.65\00:17:45.51 everyone who had the opportunity to hear it, 00:17:46.02\00:17:47.80 everyone who wanted to receive it, 00:17:47.88\00:17:49.34 received it, everyone who didn't, didn't. 00:17:49.44\00:17:50.78 And Paul said, okay I'm done here in the 00:17:50.99\00:17:52.31 synagogue. I'm going to now go to the 00:17:52.34\00:17:53.60 gentiles in this city. We go just seven verses 00:17:53.61\00:17:57.47 later to chapter, Acts chapter 14 verse 1 and 00:17:57.52\00:18:01.17 we'll read this together. Acts chapter 14 verse 00:18:01.21\00:18:03.46 1, And it came to pass in Iconium, that they 00:18:03.54\00:18:06.90 went both together into the synagogue of 00:18:06.91\00:18:09.83 the Jews, and so spake that a great multitude 00:18:09.91\00:18:14.20 both of the Jews and also of the Greeks believed. 00:18:14.23\00:18:17.69 And so Paul right after he's done in Antioch, 00:18:18.48\00:18:20.51 and after he had done taken it to the gentiles, 00:18:20.65\00:18:22.68 he then goes to this next town, he goes to Iconium 00:18:22.74\00:18:25.55 and he goes into the synagogue of the Jews 00:18:25.91\00:18:28.06 and he's preaching again to the Jews, 00:18:28.35\00:18:29.70 so he hasn't now rejected the Jews and 00:18:29.79\00:18:31.23 cleansed his hands of the Jews and gone only 00:18:31.50\00:18:33.04 to the gentiles. He goes back to his, 00:18:33.18\00:18:34.83 his routine of going to the Jews first and 00:18:35.20\00:18:36.83 then also to the gentiles. And he shares 00:18:36.92\00:18:38.58 with the Jewish people there and a great 00:18:38.63\00:18:40.18 multitude of Jewish people and Greek people 00:18:40.19\00:18:42.48 believed on him there. In chapter, Acts chapter 00:18:42.79\00:18:46.41 17 verse 6, the Jewish people said that they, 00:18:46.48\00:18:49.22 they have turned the world upside down, 00:18:49.23\00:18:51.05 these Jewish missionaries have turned the 00:18:51.13\00:18:52.76 world upside down. Paul and Barnabas and Silas 00:18:52.77\00:18:55.53 they've, they've turned the world upside down. 00:18:55.70\00:18:57.70 Now, they weren't so concerned about the 00:18:57.84\00:18:59.27 whole gentile world. They're talking about hey, 00:18:59.28\00:19:00.92 our religious structure, they turned the Jewish 00:19:01.01\00:19:03.25 world upside down, Jewish believers are believing 00:19:03.29\00:19:06.40 in him. We look in Acts chapter 17 verses 10 00:19:06.41\00:19:10.01 and 12. And it talks about the Bereans and 00:19:10.05\00:19:12.36 maybe you remember the Bereans they're known 00:19:12.39\00:19:13.87 for being more noble then the Thessalonikis 00:19:14.00\00:19:17.04 because they searched the scriptures to see 00:19:17.12\00:19:19.14 if what Paul said was true. Well, the Bereans were 00:19:19.27\00:19:22.56 Jewish. It says, he went into Bereans, 00:19:22.60\00:19:24.89 he went into the synagogue of the Jews 00:19:25.04\00:19:26.68 and many of them believed. So, the Bereans 00:19:26.96\00:19:29.84 were Jewish believers, that was searched the 00:19:29.85\00:19:32.79 scriptures to check and make sure that what 00:19:32.80\00:19:35.29 Paul said was true and they believed. 00:19:35.33\00:19:37.06 So, we don't see a massive rejection, 00:19:37.49\00:19:40.36 we see actually in all the places Jews, Jews, 00:19:40.40\00:19:42.91 Jewish people coming to the Lord and accepting 00:19:43.01\00:19:44.88 the Messiah even during the time of the Messiah 00:19:44.89\00:19:47.20 and even after the time of the Messiah. 00:19:47.44\00:19:50.83 And Paul points this out in Romans chapter 11 00:19:51.70\00:19:54.27 verse 17, when he says, if some of the branches 00:19:54.28\00:19:59.29 were broken off, and you were grafted in among 00:19:59.78\00:20:04.40 them being a wild olive branch were grafted 00:20:04.50\00:20:06.84 in among them. And so he says, some were 00:20:06.85\00:20:09.76 broken off, it doesn't even say many were 00:20:09.90\00:20:11.37 broken off, it doesn't even say most are broken 00:20:11.38\00:20:12.85 off. Paul says, some were broken off and then 00:20:12.97\00:20:16.40 the gentiles are grafted in among them, 00:20:16.58\00:20:19.78 among the Jewish believers. So, we don't 00:20:19.87\00:20:22.18 see doing away with the Jews and a bringing 00:20:22.22\00:20:24.19 in of the gentiles we see a uniting of both 00:20:24.20\00:20:27.57 together and that is God's plan. So, how would 00:20:27.68\00:20:32.27 we rate this today as far as missionary success, 00:20:32.33\00:20:35.78 if, if we sent a missionary, if you went 00:20:36.69\00:20:40.20 or someone went to, to some place where there 00:20:40.21\00:20:42.24 was no Bibles, they didn't believe in the Bible 00:20:42.25\00:20:44.54 at all, they're, they're eating one another and 00:20:44.55\00:20:46.78 doing all kinds of sins. And you go there 00:20:46.91\00:20:49.07 with your Bible, not one of them is a Bible 00:20:49.14\00:20:50.48 believer, not one of them has ever heard of 00:20:50.49\00:20:51.92 God and you go there with your Bible and you 00:20:52.00\00:20:54.41 start sharing and preaching and, and, and, 00:20:54.42\00:20:56.65 and services going on. And you comeback to, 00:20:56.72\00:20:59.18 to the, to the home country and they ask 00:20:59.38\00:21:01.45 how did it go? And you say, oh well the leader 00:21:01.53\00:21:03.64 of the tribes there they, they, they rejected 00:21:03.65\00:21:06.33 it, they tore down my posters, they, 00:21:06.39\00:21:08.06 they broke up the meeting continually, 00:21:08.52\00:21:10.23 we had such problems; they tried to kill me 00:21:10.26\00:21:12.60 a few times, oh it was miserable. And, and 00:21:12.64\00:21:15.59 the people say, oh well that's too bad. 00:21:15.65\00:21:17.11 So, yeah they rejected it all. And they say, 00:21:17.12\00:21:19.25 you say, they say, well that's too bad, boy did 00:21:19.36\00:21:21.11 anybody believe, did anybody come to the 00:21:21.12\00:21:23.06 faith at least even just one story. 00:21:23.19\00:21:24.73 And you say, well yeah actually about 25 00:21:25.02\00:21:26.91 percent of them believed. Actually 25,000 of 00:21:27.02\00:21:30.02 them believed. Actually many of their leaders 00:21:30.03\00:21:32.15 and many of their, their teachers believed. 00:21:32.16\00:21:34.86 And all within just a short period of time, 00:21:35.07\00:21:38.40 three and a half years or about 25 percent. 00:21:38.47\00:21:40.62 Would you call that a rejection? Would you 00:21:41.57\00:21:43.28 call that a failure or would you say, hey that 00:21:43.37\00:21:45.47 was a victory, 25 percent of this country, 00:21:45.48\00:21:48.27 of this nation, of the city are now believers 00:21:48.36\00:21:50.98 that's a victory. So, that's funny how we 00:21:51.23\00:21:54.19 look at history and we look at the past. 00:21:54.31\00:21:57.24 So, well how about in the last 2000 years? 00:21:57.52\00:21:59.01 How are the Jewish people rated over the 00:21:59.06\00:22:00.89 last 2000 years. Well, let's look at what choices 00:22:00.90\00:22:04.04 they had after that early first hundred years 00:22:04.05\00:22:08.15 where the Bible was being spread and the 00:22:08.22\00:22:09.49 gospel was going forward. Let's look into the 00:22:09.66\00:22:11.40 dark ages, it really the last one thousand 00:22:11.48\00:22:13.89 nine hundred years. Let's take a look at what 00:22:13.92\00:22:15.80 their choices were as we look at what they had 00:22:15.83\00:22:18.62 to choose from? Where most of the people and 00:22:18.63\00:22:20.69 the only choice they had was to possibly bow 00:22:20.70\00:22:23.28 down to a statue. And so, which would you 00:22:23.31\00:22:25.88 choose, what would you choose? If this, 00:22:25.90\00:22:27.07 if you were living let's say a thousand years 00:22:27.31\00:22:28.70 ago, and these are the choices you have. 00:22:28.78\00:22:30.67 You have to bow down to a statue, you're 00:22:31.25\00:22:33.05 gonna be a Christian, you're gonna believe in, 00:22:33.06\00:22:35.13 in, in, in, in, in Jesus. You are gonna have to 00:22:35.37\00:22:38.33 bow down to a statue, you're gonna have to 00:22:38.39\00:22:40.16 pray to a saint, you're gonna have to reject 00:22:40.23\00:22:42.71 the Bible, stop reading the Bible. Bible is 00:22:42.72\00:22:45.06 outlawed, you can only read the catechisms 00:22:45.13\00:22:47.87 and you have to break the Sabbath and you 00:22:48.93\00:22:51.41 have to start eating pork. You have to do 00:22:51.42\00:22:52.89 those things. That's your only choice or 00:22:52.90\00:22:55.24 would you choose, that's your only choice 00:22:55.50\00:22:57.14 or you can continue to worship God, 00:22:57.42\00:23:01.68 pray to God, the God of Abraham, Isaac and 00:23:02.99\00:23:04.74 Jacob, pray to the creator, praying to him, 00:23:04.79\00:23:08.18 continue reading the Bible even on the pain 00:23:08.40\00:23:10.55 of death, even though it's outlawed, 00:23:10.57\00:23:13.02 even though many of your relatives have 00:23:13.16\00:23:14.25 been killed for doing the very same thing, 00:23:14.27\00:23:15.65 you are reading the Bible, you are keeping 00:23:15.70\00:23:17.09 the Sabbath and eating Biblically. 00:23:17.11\00:23:19.44 Which would you choose? What would you 00:23:20.02\00:23:22.62 choose? Would you choose to bow down 00:23:22.67\00:23:24.27 to the idol, pray to the saint, reject the Bible, 00:23:24.29\00:23:28.05 stop reading the Bible, break the Sabbath and 00:23:28.06\00:23:31.62 start eating pork and other unclean foods? 00:23:31.64\00:23:33.84 Or would you continue worshiping God? 00:23:34.12\00:23:36.49 Praying to God and get they did have the 00:23:37.16\00:23:38.50 New Testament outlawed. They weren't able 00:23:38.51\00:23:40.25 to read it. Well, there was the Torah continue 00:23:40.27\00:23:42.46 worshiping God, praying to God, 00:23:42.51\00:23:43.80 even though you're gonna killed and many 00:23:43.88\00:23:46.77 of them, many of them did for reading the Bible 00:23:46.78\00:23:48.90 and worshiping God and praying to God and 00:23:48.95\00:23:51.76 keeping the Sabbath and eating only those 00:23:51.77\00:23:53.71 things that the Bible says are appropriate to 00:23:53.72\00:23:55.52 eat. That was the choices they had. 00:23:55.53\00:23:57.16 And for the last nineteen hundred years, 00:23:57.99\00:23:59.69 many of the Jewish people chose to risk and 00:23:59.89\00:24:03.92 die, to follow what the Bible says. See the only 00:24:03.94\00:24:08.14 picture that they had of Jesus was a picture of 00:24:08.19\00:24:11.52 him as a law breaking, Torah breaking, 00:24:11.83\00:24:16.41 Bible annulling, pork eating, Sabbath breaking 00:24:16.62\00:24:21.05 pagan. And Jew killing pagan, that was the 00:24:21.14\00:24:25.16 picture that was presented to them, 00:24:25.19\00:24:27.25 that was the only choice they had, 00:24:27.91\00:24:28.88 if you want Jesus this is the Jesus that is 00:24:28.89\00:24:30.29 presented to them. And that's what they 00:24:30.32\00:24:32.50 were rejecting, they weren't rejecting the 00:24:32.59\00:24:35.12 Jesus that maybe you and I know in reading 00:24:35.24\00:24:37.64 the full word of God. They were rejecting that 00:24:37.65\00:24:39.94 false picture of Jesus. So how will God judge 00:24:39.97\00:24:42.64 in the end? How will He judge you, 00:24:42.75\00:24:44.81 what would you have chosen? How would you 00:24:44.97\00:24:46.97 judge if you were God judging those people? 00:24:46.98\00:24:49.01 Be careful with that because as we judge, 00:24:49.11\00:24:50.88 so will we be judged. In the Book of Romans 00:24:51.37\00:24:54.65 chapter 11 verse 25, let's read this together. 00:24:55.11\00:24:57.69 For I do not desire brethren, that you should 00:24:58.17\00:25:00.72 be ignorant of this mystery. God doesn't 00:25:00.73\00:25:02.31 wants to be ignorant regarding this. 00:25:02.38\00:25:03.63 Lest we become wise in our conceits. 00:25:03.82\00:25:06.64 We maybe wise, you know, would be proud 00:25:07.24\00:25:08.88 and think we know it all, but that blindness in 00:25:08.89\00:25:12.24 part only partial blindness happened to 00:25:12.46\00:25:16.52 Israel until the fullness of the gentiles is coming 00:25:16.61\00:25:21.68 in. Paul says that there was gonna be a blindness 00:25:21.71\00:25:24.22 in part on partial blindness, just missing 00:25:24.31\00:25:26.30 that part, but still keeping the rest of it. 00:25:26.31\00:25:28.87 A blindness in part until and then after that 00:25:28.88\00:25:32.18 until obviously then the blinders come off. 00:25:32.23\00:25:33.94 And that's what happening right now. 00:25:34.03\00:25:35.15 Jewish people are accepting the messiah 00:25:35.31\00:25:36.99 again because the blinders have come out, 00:25:37.00\00:25:38.81 because the fullness of the gentiles are 00:25:38.90\00:25:40.81 coming in. The gospel is going to the fullness 00:25:40.85\00:25:44.16 the station and the gospel, when missionaries 00:25:44.58\00:25:47.14 are taking the Bible and the, and the word 00:25:47.15\00:25:49.24 of God to all the world. So, the fullness of 00:25:49.25\00:25:51.69 the gentiles and in the fullness of the message. 00:25:51.70\00:25:53.60 Not just the partial gospel, but the whole 00:25:54.18\00:25:55.88 gospel, the whole Bible, not just one third 00:25:55.89\00:25:58.62 and New Testament, but the whole Bible is 00:25:58.68\00:26:00.50 being presented until the fullness of the 00:26:00.51\00:26:02.35 gentiles is coming in. And we're seeing that 00:26:02.36\00:26:05.49 and so blindness, is blindness had been taken 00:26:05.92\00:26:08.22 away and Jewish people are coming in. 00:26:08.25\00:26:10.54 In Romans chapter 11 verses 1 and 2 Paul says, 00:26:11.40\00:26:16.09 I see then, Has God cast away his people? 00:26:16.22\00:26:18.11 God forbid. God has not cast away His people 00:26:18.59\00:26:22.40 which he for knew, that's the words of Paul. 00:26:22.50\00:26:24.46 Romans chapter 11 verses 1 and 2. 00:26:24.50\00:26:26.37 In the time of Galileo, there was the Tower 00:26:27.40\00:26:30.30 of Pisa and they were teaching at that time 00:26:30.31\00:26:32.38 that if you drop two weights of, of different, 00:26:32.61\00:26:34.98 two objects of different weights they would 00:26:35.31\00:26:37.06 fall at different times. The, the bigger one, 00:26:37.12\00:26:39.01 the heavier one would fall first. 00:26:39.02\00:26:40.54 Galileo said no they would fall at the same 00:26:41.25\00:26:43.14 exact rate. And so to prove his point; 00:26:43.22\00:26:45.06 he went up to the top of the Tower of Pisa. 00:26:45.07\00:26:46.80 And he, and he pushed off a little pebble and 00:26:47.08\00:26:49.92 a refrigerator at the same time, well maybe it 00:26:49.93\00:26:51.81 wasn't a refrigerator, but a big object and a 00:26:51.85\00:26:53.44 small object, he pushes them off at the same 00:26:53.45\00:26:55.38 time and all the other teachers are there, 00:26:55.48\00:26:57.33 some are on top, some are at the bottom and 00:26:57.36\00:26:59.09 they both fall and they fall boom at the same 00:26:59.10\00:27:01.41 exact time. They all see it, all the teachers 00:27:01.42\00:27:04.30 see it. And they all go back to their students 00:27:04.33\00:27:06.78 and they all go back and say, if you push two 00:27:07.30\00:27:11.12 weights off different weights, two objects 00:27:11.18\00:27:12.92 of different weights, the heavier one is 00:27:12.93\00:27:14.36 gonna fall first. They saw it with their own eyes, 00:27:14.40\00:27:17.83 but they went back to teaching what they 00:27:18.02\00:27:20.33 always taught. What have you always believed, 00:27:20.36\00:27:22.55 what have you always taught regarding what 00:27:22.59\00:27:23.90 we have just looked at today. That the Jews 00:27:23.95\00:27:26.20 have been bad 80 percent of the time, 00:27:26.27\00:27:27.67 that they bad over and over and over again. 00:27:27.75\00:27:29.27 We've seen that there were only bad about 20 00:27:29.63\00:27:31.83 percent of the time. And that God has not 00:27:31.84\00:27:34.28 rejected His people. So, what are you gonna 00:27:34.29\00:27:36.06 do with this, what are you gonna do when 00:27:36.23\00:27:37.20 you go back and teach Sunday school or Sabbath 00:27:37.21\00:27:38.99 school or teach your children. How are we going 00:27:39.07\00:27:41.57 to look at the Bible from now on? 00:27:41.63\00:27:43.89 We're going to allow it to impact our lives. 00:27:44.09\00:27:46.06 I pray that as we've seen this today, 00:27:46.56\00:27:47.84 you will have a deep impact on how we relate 00:27:48.26\00:27:49.68 to one another and God's mercy 00:27:49.74\00:27:51.41 and His love, God bless you. 00:27:51.51\00:27:53.43
