Now first lesson I
would like to suggest in

Joseph, is that pampering

can actually hinder us.

Joseph was a pampered kid.

He was a good boy.

He was just a spoilt rotten.

He was a tattletale.

At 17 he tattled on
his brothers to his dad.

And Joseph's father Jacob,

Jacob was a lousy father.

He was a good man in many ways

and yet he was a deceiver

when he was young.

polygamous when he was grown,

practiced favoritism.

Joseph was a favorite.

He was a pampered kid,

created a dysfunctional home.

You know, if our heavenly father

gave us everything we wanted,

if he pampered us
we would never grow.

Pampering was
holding Joseph back

and it can hold us back.

Our chief goal is comfort,

but fortunately God's chief goal
00:04:46.52\00:04:50.37
for us is character.

No wonder that
we often disagrees,

no trails, no
goals. Now life brought

Joseph a long series of trials.

And trials can
hurt. His brothers took

the cattle and sheep
to the northern Pastors

for someone grazing and Joseph

was sent by his
father Jacob up to Dothan

to check on how
things were going.

But they saw
him in the distance,

Perhaps it's happened to you.

looking wonderful and suddenly

Instantly, this boy
who had been a pampered

kid became a
slave, a lonely slave.

Poor Joseph, his
mother of course was dead.

walking up a mountain path,

with perhaps your duties

Then you are not going
to help some lonely person

that perhaps the
Holy Spirit has brought

looking for a little love,

a little friendship.

learning to trust God,

him for something,

through slavery, through trial.

Now beside this poor
Joseph was unjustly accused.

Joseph was one handsome hunk.

Now Joseph was

and after a while

is afraid of getting caught,

is what you are
when nobody is looking.

Do you have some habits,

your life that you want

stronger man in that.

position in court were

often required to be eunuchs,

but anyway Joseph
was thrown into prison.

You know when we do
the right thing we expect

to be praised for it.

Joseph was jailed for it.

It's tough to be
unjustly accused.

It's bad enough
facing just the accusations

that we deserve.

But it becomes very easy

to drown ourselves in self-pity.

When we are abused undeservedly,

coming up for Joseph.

Joseph now sent to
prison was neglected.

He was forgotten,

He always landed on his feet.

His character and
his administrative

genius soon had him virtually

running the prison.

By the way that proves
this not where you are,
