do this with Jesus?

There is a
powerful story in the Bible,

a powerful story
in the Bible that

illustrates, that
shows a deep love that a

woman had for her savior.

I think of Mary
and the alabaster box.

And behold, a woman
in the city, which was

a sinner, when she
knew that Jesus sat at

met in the
Pharisee's house, brought an

ointment, and stood

him weeping, and began

to wash his feet
with tears, and did wipe

Moving quickly
onto Matthew 26 starting

Friends, a controversy
broke out in the room

immediately, on one hand they

were some men of God.

And they were
disgusted by this act

and on the other
hand there was Jesus

who was reacting
positively to this

thing that she did,
the anointing of Jesus,

the breaking open
of the alabaster box
00:04:44.84\00:04:46.82
and so on one hand
the men of God were
00:04:46.96\00:04:48.65
saying this
disgusting, this is, they had
00:04:48.68\00:04:51.74
actually
abhorrence for what had happen

and on the other
side. Jesus is saying

I accept this, why
are you troubling the

woman? And Mary
hears that she did

well and that the
whole world will hear

about what she did.
And then Jesus says,

your sins Mary are forgiven.

Was Mary
forgiven? Did salvation come

to her soul
because she broke open that

and anointed Jesus?

Friends, I want to
say yes, I believe Mary
00:05:23.73\00:05:28.07
was saved because she anointed

Jesus with the alabaster box.

So, how is it
that Mary came to such

a decision to anoint
Jesus with this special

gift, we have to
understand that Mary
00:05:43.92\00:05:47.46
was once a great sinner friends,
00:05:47.93\00:05:49.58
she had been a
harlot, a woman of the night
00:05:49.92\00:05:53.96
and she was
brought before Jesus by the
00:05:54.26\00:05:56.56
Pharisees and set
up before Christ and
00:05:56.59\00:06:01.41
Christ did not condemn her.
00:06:01.44\00:06:02.80
He worked with her
in a way that touched
00:06:03.73\00:06:06.20
her heart, praise God
and this is of course a
00:06:06.23\00:06:09.95
lesson for you and for me,

because we're just sinners?

And when we come to
Jesus, no matter how

bad our sins are, no
matter what we've done,

Jesus will still
accept us and give us the

power to turn
away from those sins

friends and Mary
experienced this.

She had a great
struggle, she went

back to her old
ways of life, over

and over and over again.

But Jesus, as the
Bible says, went to

her over and over
again. And finally the seventh

time she had a
battle friends but the
00:06:42.38\00:06:45.33
seventh time that
Jesus went to Mary,
00:06:45.36\00:06:49.43
she gained the
victory and she became one
00:06:49.94\00:06:52.41
of the strongest
disciples of Jesus Christ,
00:06:52.44\00:06:55.41
Praise God, a changed life.
00:06:55.44\00:06:57.56
And so, what is it
about this alabaster

box, what's so
special about it and what
00:07:03.85\00:07:06.95
do I think that
the breaking of the
00:07:06.98\00:07:10.23
alabaster box is what
brought Mary's salvation.

You see I believe
that this story represents

the entire gospel
just in two verses

and that's how God is,
he's amazing in his word

and if we look at
it Mary is the sinner.

Jesus of course is the
savior, he is salvation,

the church was
represented by the

disciples, they
were both spiritual Jews

and there were
gentiles, they were

people in there
as well that were not

heading quite
like Simon that hadn't

actually accepted
Christ as the Messiah.

They was also
the world, they were

many people in the
house that were not

Christians and were
looking at Jesus with

unfriendly eyes
and they represent the

world and I
believe that the alabaster

box represents
Mary's heart and the oil,

the oil of spikenard
that was in that box,

in that flask was
the love that Jesus had

instilled in her.
And so you see Mary

brought her heart
and she opened her heart

to Jesus and returned
the love to her savior

by anointing him,
that's beautiful to me.

down Matthew and we'll

behold a woman was
in the city which was

a sinner, so it's
very clear that Mary was

a sinner and what

said, Romans 3:23
says, For all have

sinned and come
short of the glory of God.

Friends, you and
I have sinned, there

that we're sinners but

when Mary the
sinner, when she knew,

Jesus was at

brought was her heart,

my heart in her.
I brought my whole

heart, I didn't
bring part of it, I brought

my whole heart to the
marriage alter and she

trusted that I
wouldn't give it to anyone else,

any other woman.
The greatest gift

I can give my wife
is that of one hundred

percent fidelity to
her and this proves my

love for her, if I
were to go off with some

other woman, God
forbid, breaking my

marriage vows
and came back telling

Because if he
really loved me his actions

idols in the world that we

have problems with

movies, some have problems

with sports
figures. Some people's idols

are American idol.
I mean what are the

things in the
world that cause us to no

longer love Jesus
Christ. You see I can show

Jesus that I love
him, because I have no

other spouse, no
other idols in my life.

I want to spend time
with him and him alone.

Amen. And then as
we read on and she

stood at his
feet behind him, stood

behind him, I
believe this symbolized that

she would follow
him, John 10:4 says,

And when he putteth
forth his own sheep,

them, and the sheep follow

Mary knew the voice
of her savior friends

and when she
heard he was at Simon's

she wanted to hear more

of what Jesus had to
say. Mary had a history

friends of trail,
she also had a history of

victory and
through the power of Jesus

she developed a
faith in Jesus Christ and

experiential
knowledge of Jesus and actual

experience with
Jesus delivering her

and so where ever he
was she wanted to be.

doesn't expect us to,

to follow him like blind dogs,

He says come to me

Then it says whipping.

whipping? Was she sad because

She was thankful

Jesus had given

An incredible
display of humility friends.

met, I've met men who'd

They won't even
consider helping their

wives with mundane
chores around the house.

This is not the
spirit of Christ, that's the

spirit of Satan
friends, that selfishness rising

thought it nothing, ah!

savior's feet and then she

Friends, real love will
