We're gonna begin
our study today in Romans

the fifth chapter,
Romans chapter 5 verse 1.

We'll read that
text just now it says,

"Therefore, since we
have been justified by

faith, we have
peace with God through our

Lord Jesus Christ."
In Romans 5 verse 1,

Paul tells us how
an individual can have

peace with God and that is by

being justified by faith.

What does justified mean?

definition of justified?

Justified means just
as if I'd never sinned.

It means to be
accounted righteous.

So, Paul says that we
can be justified by faith,

that is God can look at
us as we had never sinned.

We can be accounted
righteous by putting

Christ. And the result

Now, there's a couple

of ways to understand this

There's the psychological
interpretation which

Christian, my life has

filled with such peace.

Well, certainly when
you become a Christian,

the Lord does fill
your life with peace,

but I don't really think
that's the Apostle Paul's

thought right here.
That's not the Apostle

Paul's thought in fact,
Paul is saying something

much more significant
then simply that your
00:02:53.61\00:02:55.78
life is full of peace
once you become a Christian.

He doesn't just say
that you have peace;

he says that you
actually have peace

with God, you
have peace with God.

And so, Paul here
is saying that when you

believe, when you
have faith and because of

your faith God treats
you just as if you had

never sinned, he
regards you as if

you're perfectly righteous.

Because that is
true, the Bible says that

have peace with God.
Now, the concept here

is that the war
between human beings and God

is over, when a
person puts faith in Jesus.

Look in Romans 5
verse 6, and we'll read

Romans chapter 5
verse 6, it says,

"For while we were
still weak, at the right time

Christ died for the ungodly."

In Romans 5 verse
6, the Apostle Paul

describes humanity as
being weak and ungodly.

Notice how we
describes humanity in verse 8.

The Bible says in
Romans chapter 5 verse 8,

"But God shows his
love for us in that while

So, we are weak,
ungodly and according

Now, let's look in verse 10.

How does Paul
described humanity in verse 10.

Notice Romans chapter
5 verse 10 describes us

God, we were enemies,

So, in Romans
chapter 5 verse 1, when the

God. He's not talking about

a psychological
peace; he's talking about the

kind of peace that
is ours when we have

seized to be
enemies of someone else.

Romans chapter 5 verse
1, is telling us when it

says we're justified by faith,

we've peace with
God. He is saying that the

war between you and
God is over, that we are

now at peace with
God. That's His promise.

His promise is
that when you put your

faith in Jesus and God
looks at you just as if

you had never
sinned. When you put your

faith in Christ and

as if you're
perfectly righteous.

The war is over.
You're no longer enemies

Now, we're gonna
look at Romans chapter 5

verse 2 now says in Romans

we rejoice in the hope

God." Now, notice what it

that by faith we have gained

access to God's
grace. So, when we put our

faith in Christ,
we received peace with

grace, that's grace
in which we now stand.

The concept there

It says that you are
now standing in grace.

Grace is the, the environment in

which you live, when you have

faith in Jesus
Christ. When you have faith

is, it's almost like a

grace is the environment

In fact, it's fascinating

fascinating thing.

We don't have to be
remarried every time
