will say, "Of course not!"

you answer that way.

But friends, I'm just wondering

if in the Bible,
when it refers to Babylon

if it's more than
what we think it is.

Now what do we all
know Babylon to be?

In general what is Babylon?

And most will
answer, "confusion"

or a false system of worship.

And friends you would
be right answering those.

But we've been
taught that Babylon

is a false system of
worship and confusing doctrines.

But I'm just wondering if
there are Christians out there

that think that Babylon is
not an issue in their life,

that Babylon is
something that's out there,

and they've come out of her

and so it's not a personal
issue in their life or is it?

Could it be
that we as Christians

are living our lives for
six days a week as Babylonians

and only
worshipping God for one?

That's a pretty
heavy question isn't it?

Could it be that
we say, we love Jesus

with our mouth, but
the way we live our lives

says we love
Babylon, we love the world?

Because friends, this is
a day and age where we need

to get ready for the
soon coming of Jesus Christ.

And I see the Spirit of
Babylon in God's people.

And I'm not here to call
the church Babylon, friends.

That's not what this is about.

That wouldn't be consistent
with inspired writings.

The church is not Babylon.

But friends are there Babylonian
roots in your own heart

or in your home?

Could it be the devil is
using what we know which is

true, about spiritual Babylon,
that it's a false system of

worship, it's something
other religions are engaged in.

Could he be using this
as a means by which we're

being lulled to sleep in carnal
security, thinking that Babylon

is just not an issue for me?

Babylon is something out there.

As I've traveled
around this country, America,

and as I've
traveled around the world,

I've seen the spirit
of Babylon in God's people

and it breaks my heart.

I see the spiritual
life and the spiritual growth

has been blunted by the
Babylonian world around them
00:04:12.18\00:04:16.42
and in them.

They have partaken of her sins.

I believe that our
opening verses, friends,

can be applied to us on
a deeper spiritual level.

That I believe,
Babylon is more than
00:04:29.57\00:04:33.84
just a false system of worship.

Now it is that, but I
believe it's more than that.

I think God
wants us to go deeper

into the Scriptures today.

I believe
frankly, it's a way of life

that God is calling us out of.

The Babylonian says,
"I'll do whatever I want to,

I'll do whatever I
want to, whenever I want to,

with whomever I want to,"

no matter what God says.

That's the Babylonian attitude.

"Oh it's just too
fanatical to just live your life

like those goodie-two-shoes. "

"I'm going to be doing whatever
I want to, whenever I want to. "

Could it be that we as professed
Christians, God's followers,

are living like
Babylonians for six days a week

but only
worshipping God for one?

Is it a possibility?

We don't have the
everlasting gospel.

We might know the
everlasting gospel

but we don't possess it.

We don't live it.

And 1 Peter 2:9 says

God has called us
out of darkness, friends.

Do you need to come out
of the darkness of the world?

Amen! He says, "I'm
calling you out of darkness,"

out of the world, out of Babylon

and into His
marvelous light." Amen!

When God calls us, there's to be
a new life that's hid in Jesus.

New motives will emerge

and new ambitions, new
thoughts, new words, new

desires, even a new character,
will begin to develop.

And the old will fall away.

That's the Christian's hope.

I want my once carnal man

to fall away.

I want to be that
spiritual Israelite if you will.

And this can only happen through
a vital connection with Jesus

which can only
happen by beholding Jesus.

When we spend time
with Him in His Word,

and spend time
with Him in prayer,

when we
fellowship with His people,

and when we witness to others.

But friends, when we
take His name in vain,

when we take His
name in vain, by living

a life that's no
different than the world's,

no different than Babylon's,

then we are like the luke warm
water that the Bible refers to

in Revelation 3:15 and 16, quote

God would rather you and I
00:07:46.96\00:07:49.01
to be real Christians,
00:07:49.04\00:07:51.47
or real Babylonians, that's
what the Scripture just said.

It says, "I'd rather
you be hot or cold. "

But because you've
combined some Babylonian things,

and some Christian things
and you've put them together,

in kind of a
Babylonian Christianity...

or a term that I've coined...
"you've become a Babylistian"

I mean, I know that's
kind of a silly term, but think

about that, is that how
we are living our lives?

Are you and I
being Babylistians?

We've got, you know, nine toes
00:08:21.36\00:08:23.77
out in the world and just
a pinky toe in the Church.

Friends, this is
a serious problem,

because our youth are
not finding the leaders,

and the role models
that they need in the Church.

You know as well
as I do, friends, that

there are countless
traps out in the world.
00:08:44.06\00:08:46.78
The devil has set
them far and wide.
00:08:46.81\00:08:48.90
And they range from TV,
to movies, to video games,
00:08:48.93\00:08:53.95
to the bad
stuff on the internet,
00:08:53.98\00:08:56.16
to soul stealing music.
00:08:56.19\00:08:57.63
Traps that keep us from
having that close walk with God,

to love the world
more than we love God.
00:09:01.11\00:09:03.44
In fact, our young
people are not seeing
00:09:03.47\00:09:08.11
any difference
between us and the world.
00:09:08.14\00:09:11.43
And so they run
off to the world.

Were you aware that
there was a poll done

of 1500 pastors, in America,
00:09:17.94\00:09:21.49
'Christianity
Today' conducted the poll.
00:09:21.52\00:09:23.51
And it said that
54% of pastors revealed
00:09:23.54\00:09:29.19
that they had looked
at internet pornography
00:09:29.22\00:09:31.55
within the year of the poll.
00:09:31.58\00:09:33.04
What!
00:09:33.07\00:09:34.94
The men of the cloth?
00:09:34.97\00:09:37.66
God's pastors, over
half of them, said they
00:09:37.69\00:09:40.98
had looked at
internet pornography!

We have a problem friends.

By beholding the world we
become changed into the world.

And then 30% of them said,

that they had looked
at internet pornography,

within the last month.

Friends, if those are the
statistics for the "Men of God",

the "Pastors and
Preachers" throughout America,

what are the statistics
for you and I, just the laity?

That's a sobering thought, Amen?

So let me ask the question,

Are you in Babylon?

Are you living your
life like a Babylonian?

I hope not. Oh God, I hope not.

Frankly friends, the way that we
are representing Christianity,

in fact, when I
was a young person,

I looked at
Christians and I thought

they were a bunch of hypocrites,
00:10:36.56\00:10:38.83
because they lived
their lives no differently

than I was living, and I wasn't
even a professing Christian.
00:10:41.32\00:10:44.04
They just went to
church a few hours one day,
00:10:44.07\00:10:46.51
and said a prayer, and they're
going to get to go to heaven.
00:10:46.54\00:10:48.90
Doesn't that seem silly?

There must be a
difference between us

and the world,
friends. Amen? AMEN!

There must be a difference.

Another study revealed that 41%

that's a big number-

41% of Christian youth surveyed

said that there was
no one in the church,

that they respected
enough to consider a role model.

That breaks my heart.

Well, why isn't it?
In fact, 67% of youth

see adults as hypocrites.

Church members as hypocrites!

So, why do you suppose
our young people see us,

leaders and older people,

as hypocrites in the church?

And there's no role model,

because they
know what the pastor

is watching and doing at home.

They know what mom
and dad are doing at home.

Right? Right.

Friends, we have got to get

our fingers, and our eyeballs,

and our ears, out of the world.

This is not a time to
play with sin, friends.

It's time to
overcome and be the people

that God has designed us to be.

If mom and dad
aren't going to live,

any life that's
different than the neighbors,

the children see it.

How many times, I've
talked to lots of young people

not just in America but in
other parts of the world too,

and you know what they tell me?

"Mom and Dad are nicer to me
when other people are around. "

Now, that's not okay!

That's not okay is it?

Absolutely not.

And I've talked to others

who have said, "You know,
my mom and dad, they just do

everything else that
all their friends do,

and yet, when the
pastor comes around

or when the other
church people come around
00:12:49.52\00:12:51.46
they act like it's
not okay anymore. "

They're living a dual
life, they're being hypocrites.

No wonder the children
are running out of the church.

They're not seeing mom and dad

have victory in
their lives, friends,

and if mom and dad
aren't having victory,

then they must assume, that
neither is anyone else in the

church, because after all,
they can't find role models.

What are we going to do?

We've gotta make changes.

We have got to get to the place

where we stop playing
with our Christianity,

and we become
the true Christians,

the real Christians.

You know people ask me,

"How do you make your ministry
relevant to the young people? "

You know what I
do? I preach TRUTH!

I talk to them about a
real Christain life style.

In fact, I recently
just had a wonderful time

with a bunch of young
people at a campmeeting,

and I pulled
them aside and I said,

"You know what, young people,

I'm not going to preach to you,

I want you to teach me. "

"What have your
parents done right? "

They thought about it
and told me some things.

I said, "What have
your parents not done right?

Because I want to be an
awesome daddy to my children. "

Then I asked them, "What
would you change in your home? "

And do you know
what they started to say?

They said, "You know what?
I'd get rid of that dumb TV,

with my mother or my father,

I'd love for them to
just throw a ball with me. "

And then I asked
them another question,

"When was the
last time you received

a hug from your mom and dad,

and it was a real hug? "

I had one young lady
say, "Just this week."

I said, "Praise the Lord!"

And I had one girl
break down and said,

"Five years ago... "

Friends, what are we doing?

We're more interested in what's
going on in movie stars lives

than we are in our own children!

They're crying out,
wanting to spend time with us,

and what are we doing?

We're off like
little Babylonians

watching things we shouldn't.
00:14:52.13\00:14:55.72
And we fight and we scream, all
the way through Sabbath morning,

getting ready to go to
church, we get in the car

"Come on
everybody, where's my Bible?

Oh, it's still here
where it was last week"

Didn't read it all week.

"Come on,
everybody's in the car. "

And we're rushing, and fighting
and bickering, all the way

to church and then
something miraculous happens,

as we get out of the car,

we become holy people.

Oooo, we become
holy all of a sudden

and the kids go,
"Give me a break."

powerful Biblical formula,

3 stages to this Scripture.

Submit, resist
and then the victory.

It starts with submission.

Well of course,
what is submission?

It's simply praying to God,

asking Him to give you that
new heart that he has promised,

new discernment to see
ourselves for who we really are,

asking Him to
heal our backslidings,

to forgive us for
engaging in all the stuff

we've been engaging in.

Forgive us for all the junk
we've been allowing in the home.

And then we must
accept what God reveals to us,

in regard to changes necessary

for victory in our lives.

That's submission.
